- 0:27That's not what I do. The first half was absolutely
- 0:31horrible. Inept offense, inept defense, special
- 0:37teams, you name it. I'm gonna turn into Oprah.

- 1:04voice of reason here i am what i am What's up
- 1:19everybody welcome to another episode of fanatically
- 1:21speaking, I'm Kent the co -host and promoter
- 1:24I am log off. I am the log off legend the hater
- 1:27of social media and the co -host and producer
- 1:29of the show alright today we got a I guess the
- 1:32episode is fun instead of just a fun topic is
- 1:35the Halloween season so we thought it'd be nice
- 1:37to put together a whole episode based on Halloween
- 1:43dedicated to Halloween. It's one of the funner
- 1:47holidays that I'll slightly entertain as a holiday
- 1:52to participate in. I mean, look, it involves
- 1:54candy. I can't say no to candy. So again, you're
- 1:59not just a social media hater. You are also a
- 2:01holiday hater. Yes, I am a holiday hater. I hate
- 2:05holidays the same way I hate TikTok, Facebook,
- 2:08Instagram. Make sure to follow us on FanaticallySpeaking,
- 2:11at FanaticallySpeaking. Yeah, so you take all
- 2:14those social media platforms and you include
- 2:17Fourth of July, Valentine's Day, Christmas, and
- 2:23Thanksgiving, and you put them all in the same
- 2:25bucket. I hate them all equally. Yeah. I can't
- 2:29agree with you. I can't agree with you on some
- 2:31of those. I know. I know you're a holiday guy
- 2:34and I don't, you know, and we can, we'll, we'll
- 2:37let everybody a little, a little inside baseball
- 2:39for my holiday hatred. I try not to hate. I try
- 2:41not to ruin it for others. It's just for me.
- 2:45No, no, you're good. We just, you know, just
- 2:48a fun fact for everybody while we're on the holiday
- 2:51theme Halloween edition of fanatically speaking.
- 2:54The big one, the first one here, the first topic
- 2:56we get into is sports villain. I have I've got
- 3:00a lot of we had some qualifiers that we put on
- 3:03this and and I think it's kind of better to always
- 3:07kind of clarify what we're what we're talking
- 3:09about, what we talk about, like like who's a
- 3:12good sports villain and what makes a great sports
- 3:13villain. And some of the key notes you have on
- 3:17here is, you know, is it them winning all the
- 3:19time? Is it us, you know, kind of just being
- 3:22sick of seeing their face? Is it like their social
- 3:25media activity? Is it ways that they behave on
- 3:28the field during play maybe outside of the game?
- 3:32So as you know, it's kind of a lot of ground
- 3:34to cover when you talk about the things that
- 3:36make you that make you think of someone as a
- 3:38villain Yes, and I got a quote and the quote
- 3:43is from my favorite superhero batman So this
- 3:49is this is I thought about this when you talk
- 3:51about Ning and you start becoming the villain,
- 3:55like Michael Jordan did in the 90s a little bit,
- 3:58the Cowboys, we talk about that team in general,
- 4:02them just all being villains. And then you talk
- 4:04about like Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, you start
- 4:06hating these guys because all they do is win.
- 4:09So Batman, from the famous quote, of course,
- 4:12you either die a hero or you live long enough
- 4:15to see yourself become the villain. And while
- 4:19I know what that quote means on the surface,
- 4:23I mean it like the more you think about it. It's
- 4:26kind of dumb But it's like as long as you continue
- 4:29to do well and people like you you're not no
- 4:32one's gonna hate you for some reason Maybe that
- 4:35quote kind of dives into Like at some point you're
- 4:39gonna go sour at some point you're going to to
- 4:42do things that upset and anger people Therefore
- 4:44you'll become the villain. Maybe that's what
- 4:46they were getting at but I mean, I think it's
- 4:49true in terms of like winning because I, me growing
- 4:51up, I never liked Jordan because he did win all
- 4:53the time. And I did view him as, you know, my
- 4:56opposition as a villain, even though I didn't
- 4:58even have a team. I just wanted to see him lose.
- 5:01Yeah. Again, you get that winning fatigue and
- 5:05you're getting it now with my homes. We got it
- 5:08with Brady and that lasted forever. So I do see
- 5:12where you become a villain by winning. But then
- 5:15you also have I think a good example is like
- 5:18Kobe Bryant Was he was liked and then of course
- 5:24what made him a villain was off the court stuff
- 5:27and then he won and Then you heard things about
- 5:33like the way he I guess treated teammates things
- 5:36like that and then after I think after he played
- 5:40after he retired man, he was like a He was then
- 5:44he was a hero then he was like, okay, I was a
- 5:46beloved figure He I think his his Q rating skyrocketed
- 5:50after he left the NBA I could agree with that.
- 5:53Yeah, you got to see a different side of him,
- 5:55too So that that that's the person that definitely
- 5:58switched it around I don't think Tom Brady's
- 6:01made it there yet because I don't think people
- 6:03necessarily like his commentary and the way he
- 6:06got that job and we've talked about that before
- 6:08True. And the other thing I'll say about this
- 6:11is just kind of the natural cultural celebrity
- 6:16perspective that the public has as a whole. We
- 6:21love to see someone who was at the top fall.
- 6:26We like watching that fall from grace and watching
- 6:28them fail. I mean, you can, I mean, when I say
- 6:31celebrity, I mean, through all walks of life,
- 6:33you talk about just like, I mean, you can take
- 6:35like Robert Downey Jr ups and downs, Mariah Carey
- 6:39ups and downs, you know, so when you look at
- 6:42it with the, it's the same thing with an athlete,
- 6:44like they're popular figures. So sometimes it's
- 6:47like, Hey, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, you guys
- 6:49are winning these championships. You know what?
- 6:50We want to see you guys take a L, you know, Hey,
- 6:53LeBron, you're making it to the finals every
- 6:56year. You know what? We want to watch you get
- 6:58swept. So I think there's that component to where
- 7:01you know, you kind of get it's just a natural
- 7:03fatigue like you said But also, you know as a
- 7:06whole we like to see people fail and and in some
- 7:09cases We want to see them fail so that we can
- 7:11pick them back up But some people we want to
- 7:13see them fail and stay at the bottom and they
- 7:16just you know, just continue to hate them For
- 7:18sure and on the other side of that then you have
- 7:21you know, I got it We got a list of a few names,
- 7:24right? We went through what makes the sports
- 7:26villain here. Here's just a here's just a short
- 7:28list of the ones that came to mind that are might
- 7:30either more recent or have just stayed a villain
- 7:35for whatever reason one not a player owner jerry
- 7:39jones that's a good angel angel reese angel reese
- 7:45is a good one she gets a lot of you know you
- 7:48mentioned kd lebron i think they didn't get it
- 7:51i don't think they got it so much for own the
- 7:54court stuff i think you know kd you know, chirping
- 7:57back at people, LeBron just doing LeBron things.
- 8:02But then sometimes, you know, you start really
- 8:04focusing in on people and the way they act. And
- 8:06then it's the whole. I guess it's the I don't
- 8:12know if it's the commercials. It's like you said,
- 8:15it's shoved in your face and you don't watch
- 8:17wrestling out wrestling. So John Cena was one
- 8:20athlete sports here. So John Cena was one that
- 8:24was shoved in Apple's throat. And people started
- 8:26booing him. And eventually he went into movies
- 8:31and kind of faded out. Now he's on his retirement
- 8:34run, it's almost over, and everybody loves him.
- 8:36They appreciate him more. But again, it's that
- 8:39thing of, like you said, the winning, but then
- 8:40also I think the commercials, the shove down
- 8:42your throat, telling you this, this, this, this,
- 8:46this, and you gotta have that personality. And
- 8:47I think Mahomes has a good personality, but at
- 8:50the same time, then you see the stuff on the
- 8:52field. When you start crying for flags, when
- 8:54you start, you know, flopping, which was LeBron.
- 8:57Again, he was a flopper. Mahomes is a flopper.
- 9:00It makes people not like you. It makes you a
- 9:02villain in a sense, right? Well, and listen,
- 9:06and we can we can do this all day in terms of,
- 9:10you know, athletes being considered a villain.
- 9:14It's not necessarily a bad thing. Like there's
- 9:16there's players who've built their entire careers
- 9:19off of being villains I mean the bad boy Pistons
- 9:22Charles Oakley, you know Ron our test Dennis
- 9:26Rodman like like they're like there's absolutely
- 9:29a link Draymond like there's a lane for being
- 9:32the bad guy Remember it was and it was I thought
- 9:36it was a brilliant campaign. I believe it was
- 9:39the I Believe it was the Kevin Durant. I think
- 9:43it was called the Kevin's not nice You know Nike
- 9:46campaign where it's like hey, you know, he's
- 9:48just he's kind of a jackass at times. He's a
- 9:51bad guy There's absolutely a lane for for being
- 9:55that and I think you know someone like you said
- 9:57like a Jerry Jones I think he's aware that the
- 9:59things that he does annoys everyone outside of
- 10:02the Dallas Cowboys universe He's aware that it
- 10:06upsets them, but it keeps him in the forefront
- 10:08It keeps him in front of everyone which helps
- 10:10for popularity again Floyd Mayweather effect.
- 10:14You're either gonna watch the fights to watch
- 10:16him get knocked out and a tiny percent are going
- 10:20to actually watch, you know, watch those fights
- 10:22to see if he's going to win. And I think Jerry
- 10:25Jones has kind of mastered that as an owner.
- 10:27And you know, we see his face. We already know
- 10:30the things he's going to say, and it doesn't
- 10:32even surprise us anymore. No. And you mentioned
- 10:36players, I think when you mentioned like a Rodman
- 10:39and Oakley and Draymond, I think Charles was
- 10:42the original, right? We named people, we talked
- 10:45about what it could be. Well, Charles Barkley,
- 10:47yeah, so we talked about these guys like you
- 10:49talked about Charles Oakley. Charles Barkley
- 10:51was the first or maybe the original that started,
- 10:54you know, like I said, he's spitting at guys
- 10:57and what a cameraman or someone actually hit
- 10:59a kid. And then he said, I'm not a role model.
- 11:03So we had that. But we talked about all these
- 11:05people. But I want to get into like we talked
- 11:07about why, though, also, right. So was it the
- 11:10winning? Is it their persona? Is it their attitude
- 11:14is it on the court on the often on the field
- 11:16off the court off the field tiger woods Right.
- 11:20I mean he was like loved and then all of a sudden
- 11:23a scandal hits Yeah, no tiger tiger woods is
- 11:26a good one And I think it was actually coupled
- 11:29with a lot. It was coupled with the the winning
- 11:34Dominant winner like we knew he could always
- 11:37win, you know, he has a scandal with you know,
- 11:40you know his now ex -wife you know and you know
- 11:43police showing up and and uh and i think what
- 11:47turned him into a villain in that is that it
- 11:48was so many questions and with all the information
- 11:52with all the cheating like you know they were
- 11:54doing interviews with the women he was cheating
- 11:55with and everything yeah but i think the thing
- 11:58that kind of made him a villain was that there
- 12:00were so many questions that we never really got
- 12:02answers to like like it's it's it was an unclear
- 12:07like you like you know what was going on But
- 12:09there was never any concrete, here's the full
- 12:12story on this. And I think that kind of helped
- 12:15where because, you know, at the end of it, you
- 12:17know, for some of these, you know, I mean, we
- 12:20could talk about, you mentioned Kobe, we could
- 12:22talk about OJ. Like there's there's actual court
- 12:25documentation, police interviews, you know, where
- 12:29you can see what happened and it helps you either.
- 12:32I'm going to love you or hate you. I'm either
- 12:34going to support you, you know, or I'm going
- 12:36to root against you. And tiger's an interesting
- 12:39one because there's still a lot of unanswered
- 12:41questions So to go with that tiger one though
- 12:45is that he plays a sport that you would never
- 12:49You know, it's got off So not only was tiger
- 12:54squeaky clean. He was also You know playing a
- 12:58sport like golf So that that really just hurt
- 13:01his image and then you mentioned OJ and again
- 13:04OJ when you're an alleged murderer, that kind
- 13:08of will make you a villain pretty much from the
- 13:11get -go. Yeah, well, I mean, you know, that'll
- 13:14do it. That'll do it. If there's a way to be
- 13:15a villain, you know, be alleged murderer. No,
- 13:19no. Of an ex -wife at that. Yeah, you know, and
- 13:22I mean, we can do that, but, you know, I, at
- 13:25the same time, I could flip it and say there's
- 13:27some alleged murderers who've seen the skate
- 13:29because Ray Lewis seems to be doing quite well.
- 13:32So, you know, people just kind of, you know,
- 13:35people just kind of, you know, gloss right on
- 13:37by it. So I mean, it's, it's, it's fun. And Anya
- 13:40Harding, there we go. Tanya Harding is a great
- 13:44one. And no, and this is what I meant when I,
- 13:47when I made, because I kind of felt foggy when
- 13:50I was going over the Tiger Woods thing, but Tanya
- 13:52Harding is a great one. Think about all the things
- 13:55that we know happen. You know, full investigation.
- 13:59That's a big one. Yeah. So it was a huge one,
- 14:01man. And I mean, and now I want to say that stuff.
- 14:04I want to say the Taya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan
- 14:05stuff lasted, what, five years? I mean, it lasted,
- 14:09you know, forever. I know now people are listening,
- 14:12like they may or may not, depending on how old
- 14:14you are. It was huge, everyone. Massive. But
- 14:16it was just, you can put it up there with the
- 14:19OJ, right? It's probably second place for a sports
- 14:22scandal like that. And especially again, I mentioned
- 14:26golf with Tiger Woods. I mean, you don't think
- 14:28of stuff happening in golf. You don't think of
- 14:30stuff happening in women's figure skating. And
- 14:33yet there was a hit to take out the competition.
- 14:36Yeah. No. Yes, it was an organized hit. And it
- 14:41was ridiculous. It was something we'd never seen
- 14:43before. It was so cartoonish. Yeah. And it's
- 14:46like, wait a minute. It's figure skating. You
- 14:47mean there's violence and injuries? What are
- 14:49you talking about? You're skating on razor blades.
- 14:52like a dude behind a curtain comes out with a
- 14:56bar to hit a woman in the leg. Hey, that's how
- 14:59you do it, man. But again, forever Tanya Harding
- 15:03is a sports villain. Maybe top five, top ten.
- 15:08Oh, no, I would absolutely agree with that. She's
- 15:13up there with the juice. Diabolical, man. Yeah,
- 15:17we're going to literally take out my competition
- 15:19because I don't think I can compete with her.
- 15:22Now, that's a that's a damn good one. All right.
- 15:32So, Kent, so if you had to right now today and
- 15:35I know it's kind of an oxymoron to say your favorite
- 15:39sports villain in a way. My favorite. Yeah, that's
- 15:42what I mean. Like, but if you had to kind of
- 15:44pick, I guess the one. The one where you see
- 15:48them as a villain and you're like they're kind
- 15:49of my poster child for who the modern Now today
- 15:53sports villain is if you had to pick a name,
- 15:55who would you go with today today right now today?
- 16:00Man I'm going I'm man. She says she's not a villain
- 16:05But everything she does is villainous Right.
- 16:09I mean she's a very like if and if there was
- 16:12a villain I think and I'm not yeah if I get flack
- 16:14for this I don't care If I'm gonna compare her
- 16:17to like a cartoonish villain, Angel Reese is
- 16:21like, I think she's the villain. She's my top
- 16:25one right now. And I wanna call her Two -Face
- 16:29because I think there's times where she's on
- 16:31the runway as a model for Victoria's Secret.
- 16:35She does her commercials, she's got her shoes.
- 16:38She smiles, she tries to be girly and pretty
- 16:41and all these things. But then there's that other
- 16:44side that you know she's you know always saying
- 16:49something about something right and that's the
- 16:53only thing and and it doesn't really back it
- 16:55up you know and and it's kind of probably it's
- 16:58died off but it first thing that comes to mind
- 17:01right now is is angel reese for me okay and not
- 17:06not personally i'm just telling you why like
- 17:08you know i mean i am saying it's my top one just
- 17:12because i think there's so much that comes with
- 17:15her, right? She's just polarizing where she's
- 17:18gonna get love on this side and hate on the other.
- 17:21You know what I mean? Does that make sense? Well
- 17:23yes, and I, so I understand why you chose her.
- 17:28She's a good name to have on this list and I
- 17:32think it's because she, she embraces the villainous
- 17:39attitude that she has. And this is where we were
- 17:43talking earlier about how there's absolutely
- 17:45a lane. I mean, I'll give you all of the WNBA's
- 17:49history. Can you name another WNBA player that
- 17:53you would classify as a villain? I mean, I can
- 17:58name a bunch of them. No, no, no. No, I mean
- 18:00- Oh, WNBA? Correct. WNBA. Yeah, that's what
- 18:04I mean. Yeah, and the WNBA, like, this is new.
- 18:06Like, this is new for their sport. outside of
- 18:10her outside of her teammate the season previous
- 18:13of kennedy carter but well no but i mean but
- 18:16in turn no so but again that's more within the
- 18:19wda yeah angel reese is considered a sports villain
- 18:24in the streets you know what i mean like i mean
- 18:28because like there are some people who never
- 18:30really like diana terrasi i personally love terrasi
- 18:33you could say that but that that was all pertaining
- 18:35to basketball It was all, you know, pertaining
- 18:38to the WNBA and how tenacious, her tenacity and
- 18:42wanting to be a winner. But for Angel Reese,
- 18:44it's all the other things. It's all the other
- 18:47activities. She's at every big event. And I think
- 18:50it works for her because she's embraced it. And
- 18:53it has absolutely, and I would love to have a
- 18:57discussion with her and have her try her hardest
- 19:00to deny this, but it has absolutely skyrocketed
- 19:05her. as a personality. The endorsements that
- 19:08she receives, the presence that she has, has
- 19:11absolutely been magnified by the drama with Caitlin
- 19:15Clark, by the drama with her at LSU, flashing
- 19:18the whole ring thing, by clashing with her own
- 19:21teammates in her own locker room on her own team,
- 19:25calling them out publicly. Those are things that
- 19:28absolutely boost her profile. The only thing
- 19:32I'll say and I'll just kind of end it on this
- 19:34because I don't want to turn this into a whole
- 19:35angel Reese podcast The one thing that I want
- 19:38to say about it that I respect is that For me,
- 19:43she keeps throwing herself into it Which makes
- 19:47it okay for everyone else to continue to throw
- 19:50shit as well She the the the subject matter that
- 19:54surrounds her constantly. She has a she plays
- 19:58a role in it This isn't, this isn't just us making,
- 20:01you know, accusations and throwing things at
- 20:03her. She's, she's, she's actively involved in
- 20:06her own drama, which I think makes it okay for
- 20:09us to call her a villain. Well, I think it's
- 20:12also, she's the one who actually called herself
- 20:15the villain. I think mainly she called herself
- 20:18that. So then it's kind of like, yeah, because
- 20:21of this and the other, but give her credit. You
- 20:24know, there's a whole social media about, you
- 20:26know, making fun of her. Missing shots and her
- 20:29bad basketball and the me bounds and she's capitalizing
- 20:32off of it, right? She went and took that raise
- 20:35and she's going to market it and make money off
- 20:37of it. So good for her. Yeah, no, good for her.
- 20:40It's worked. Who you got? I mean, if I have if
- 20:43I had to pick a villain is tough. I typically
- 20:46don't get wrapped up in the off the court stuff.
- 20:49So I kind of like to. I like to stick to whatever
- 20:54a sport is, to stick to, and interesting enough,
- 20:58mine's gonna be basketball too, but it's gonna
- 21:00be NBA. And I'm gonna pick Kevin Durant as my
- 21:05favorite sports villain. And it's because it's
- 21:09been career long. He started off with OKC, very
- 21:14humble, won an MVP, made it to a championship.
- 21:18And then he turned, he tried his hardest to He's
- 21:22a low -profile kind of guy, and he just wants
- 21:25to play basketball. Going to Golden State absolutely
- 21:29boosted him into the villainous role. It's like,
- 21:32okay, you're ring chasing. You're going to join
- 21:34the team that eliminated you. You know, it worked
- 21:37out great. In my mind, Kevin Durant became a
- 21:39villain when he left OKC, went to go play for
- 21:43Golden State after losing to them the previous
- 21:46year. joined them, won some championships. Okay,
- 21:50but he was the villain. They were the team to
- 21:52root against. He tears his Achilles, leaves Golden
- 21:55State, goes to Brooklyn. Fizzles there, never
- 21:59really got off the ground there, then goes to
- 22:02Phoenix. And then the second everything falls
- 22:05apart there in Phoenix, he's out the door in
- 22:07Houston. So it's my favorite pick as a villain
- 22:11because he's had such a long career of doing
- 22:13things that people don't necessarily like. all
- 22:16of them within the sports realm we don't really
- 22:19even know him like as a like as a person we don't
- 22:22know a lot about as famous as Kevin Duran is
- 22:24I don't know who he's dating I don't know if
- 22:26he has any kids like like I just you know I know
- 22:30his mom you know his mom's are always you know
- 22:32his mom's always at games and stuff but but like
- 22:34him he's such a he's still one of the rare mythical
- 22:37athletes that you don't really know a ton about
- 22:39but we know that he can play basketball and he
- 22:41loves that you know he loves the game loves the
- 22:43sport It's just that his choices in decision
- 22:46making, it's just like, come on man, like you're
- 22:48too good for that. And that, and that's one of
- 22:51the things that I think, you know, makes him
- 22:52a villain. Yeah. I think, uh, you, you talk about,
- 22:55you know, switching teams. Well, obviously free
- 22:58agency is one thing, but you can become a villain
- 23:00in free agency, you know, LeBron left Cleveland
- 23:03and he kind of made him a villain. Then Katie,
- 23:06like you said, leaves. Okay. See becomes a villain.
- 23:09Then he leaves the warriors with the Draymond
- 23:11drama. But he start again becoming a villain
- 23:15more you start when you're a superstar player,
- 23:18and he is a superstar player When you continuously
- 23:23Get out of situations then you're kind of placing
- 23:26the blame on others and not yourself Or you're
- 23:28just the issues that are going on with that be
- 23:30winning losing or just drama that makes I think
- 23:33that that adds to his villainous Yeah, I agree.
- 23:37Yeah when when when the tough when the going
- 23:40gets tough that dude takes off and And I understand
- 23:43it's his career. I understand that. I respect
- 23:47him for wanting to make a change in the scenery.
- 23:49He's got that kind of power. He's one of those
- 23:51rare kind of players. But people are going to
- 23:54look at you sideways, man. And I'm a big fan
- 23:58of going down with the ship. If things are going
- 23:59to crash and burn and you played a pivotal role
- 24:02in it, don't try to escape and get out of there
- 24:05like you played a role in it. And if everyone
- 24:08else is going to have to suffer. We kind of want
- 24:10to see you have to suffer too. So when you take
- 24:12off and run and go to a different team, any time
- 24:14things get rough, you know, people don't look
- 24:16at you differently and he's going to have to
- 24:17live with that. He hit me. He's good at it. He
- 24:20owns it. He eats it. He was embracing opening
- 24:23night versus okay. See, he's embracing the crowds
- 24:26and yeah, boo, boo. Me too. That's fine. I think,
- 24:30I think I saw, I think I saw a video recently
- 24:33of him and Gary Payton, a senior. Okay, don't
- 24:39going at it back when he was with Phoenix. I
- 24:42believe it was last season maybe and there's
- 24:44like I think it's in the documentary Wherever
- 24:47that is, but yeah him him and Gary Payton going
- 24:50back and forth Yeah Gary Gary Payton on the line
- 24:54of good sports villains, too. That's a that's
- 24:57an interesting name Yeah, yeah, I guess he's
- 25:00a villain, you know We named a lot of basketball
- 25:02or people that you can see their face. I mean
- 25:04football is like a dangerous sport you know,
- 25:07a violent game but it's easy to say. You know
- 25:09who the sports villains were in in the NFL? Well,
- 25:13I mean you you do but I'm gonna get but I'm gonna
- 25:17save I'm gonna save the NFL for the scary athletes
- 25:21portion. Fair enough. No, that that's Alright,
- 25:30so so I added something to the top of the list
- 25:33and I did it mainly because this is the Halloween
- 25:36themed episode and the first thing that comes
- 25:38to my mind when I hear Halloween is candy and
- 25:41that actually triggered an article and actually
- 25:45it was an article and then like a like in like
- 25:47a Almost like a like a small docu -series on
- 25:51Dwight Howard from years ago. I want to say this
- 25:53is like 2016 and what it did was it actually
- 25:57followed like his his actually his dietary regimen
- 26:00which consisted of a let's just say a diabetic
- 26:04coma amount of sugar that he was eating, that
- 26:09he was eating every day. And it's a very, it's
- 26:13an interesting article. And I'm going to, I'm
- 26:17going to see if I can find the video of it. And
- 26:19maybe I can add it to the, to the, to the podcast
- 26:22posting, but, but his, but his diet contained
- 26:27an additional 5 ,500 calories a day. coming just
- 26:34from candy Now he had some he had some hits and
- 26:37misses when it comes to candy, so I'm gonna judge
- 26:39him on this a little bit But he would eat Skittles
- 26:43Starbursts Rolos Snickers Mars bars Twizzlers
- 26:49Almond Joy's Kit Kats and his favorite apparently
- 26:54Reese's Pieces Okay. Now he had an assistant
- 26:57and I remember this vividly this vividly he had
- 27:00an assistant whose job and responsibility was
- 27:03that when he was getting out of practice to have
- 27:06all of the snacks scattered and displayed across
- 27:10the backseat of his car so that while Dwight
- 27:13Howard was driving home from practice, he could
- 27:15literally just reach back blindly. Bam. Got me
- 27:17some Skittles. Boom. Got me some Snickers. Boom.
- 27:20Got me some Kit Kats. And it was a it's a comical
- 27:25amount. Have you ever heard of this story at
- 27:28all? So is this your first time hearing it? This
- 27:30is the first I had never heard of this. Yeah,
- 27:33it is. It's an insane video to watch. And I mean,
- 27:36of course, I mean, Dwight Howard's rich. So I'm
- 27:38sure, you know, the dental work that comes from
- 27:40the damage of eating all of this sugar. Yeah.
- 27:42Yeah. Yeah. His teeth are going to rot for sure.
- 27:45But it was it was easy to to kind of as a visual
- 27:50to see this. And keep in mind, no one even to
- 27:54this day, even while, you know, Dwight Howard
- 27:56is a broadcaster, I don't think we've ever seen
- 27:59someone who has been in shape throughout their
- 28:02entire career like that, like the dude was an
- 28:05Adonis. He was always in shape while consuming
- 28:08this, you know, comatose level amount of sugar.
- 28:14It was, yeah, on average, everything that he
- 28:16ate was in like 230 calories a bag. It came out
- 28:20to an additional 5 ,500 calories a day just from
- 28:25candy and He was all the dude was always in shape
- 28:30Always always chiseled like you there's never
- 28:33been one year where it's like Dwight Howard looks
- 28:35a little heavy So even while eating all that
- 28:38sugar and I'm pretty sure a lot of it had to
- 28:39do with his youth As he aged he stopped that
- 28:42he cut all the sugar and everything out of his
- 28:44diet But yeah, it was it was an interesting go
- 28:48ahead. I'm sorry. That is it. No, I was just
- 28:50saying yeah, you would never think that he was
- 28:53on a candy diet He might just had a really good
- 28:56workout you know i've i've seen athletes um wrestlers
- 29:02talk about they eat whatever but they just got
- 29:04to work out a little harder so well listen i've
- 29:08take it from the uh the podcast's uh you know
- 29:12resident fat ass it is it is damn near impossible
- 29:16to Outwork a terrible diet. Of course, there's
- 29:20outliers. There's always going to be people who
- 29:23who who no matter I think we all know that one
- 29:25person in our lives who could seem to eat anything
- 29:28and never gain weight You know, so but at the
- 29:31same time it's that is that's a that's a ridiculous
- 29:35a ridiculous amount of of sugar for anybody to
- 29:39consume That is insane Yes, so Dwight Howard's
- 29:44diet that many that much candy that that many
- 29:47calories like I said was a win If you're a kid
- 29:50on Halloween, that's a haul. That's a good night
- 29:53He was eating that every day Every day. Yeah
- 29:57a grown man, but I'm just saying like kids are
- 30:00like, oh my god, that would be amazing Especially
- 30:03on Halloween, especially on Halloween. Yeah So
- 30:13I wanted to take that topic. I found it interesting.
- 30:17I know some people could look at it like it's
- 30:19like, you know, what the hell are you guys talking
- 30:20about? But what I wanted to do was parlay that
- 30:24into another topic, which is, do you have like
- 30:28a celebrity athlete endorsed candy? That was
- 30:34released that kind of sticks that kind of sticks
- 30:36to your your brain from when we were growing
- 30:38up and and and listen It doesn't really happen
- 30:41as I mean help. Mr. Beast has a damn candy bar
- 30:44now So but for very popular but but for athletes
- 30:49it was I was never really something that kind
- 30:51of stuck Unless you want to say I don't know
- 30:53maybe baby Ruth's, you know where it's kind of
- 30:56tied to his name But I don't know if babe Ruth
- 30:58had like a direct association with like the launching
- 31:01of that product I'm not sure about that. I do
- 31:05know that Babe Ruth did have a candy bar, so
- 31:07he might be the original athlete that had a candy
- 31:10endorsement. Got it, yeah. You know, Shaq had
- 31:13a bar. A lot of athletes have had candy bars.
- 31:16They come and go. They do. It's more of a, you
- 31:20know, but we're going to go back to our villain
- 31:24because Angel Reese, using that last name Reese,
- 31:28has endorsement with Reece. Yeah, she does. Reese's.
- 31:30Yes. Yes, she does. Reese's. Reese's cups. So,
- 31:33you know, you want to know what's interesting?
- 31:35So, I didn't know that. I knew that she had with,
- 31:39I've only seen her on the Reese's pieces or the
- 31:42Reese's cereal. She's literally on the box. True.
- 31:46But, I mean, candy. Correct. With the Reese's
- 31:48brand tied to her last name. Understood. No,
- 31:51but I, I know, that's the only endorsement right
- 31:53now. I, I try to think, like, you know, I mentioned
- 31:55another episode where Johnson had cookies. uh,
- 31:58grandmama cookies. And then the other is not
- 32:01candy and it's not an endorsement, but do you
- 32:03remember Karan Butler had a Mountain Dew addiction?
- 32:08I do remember the Mountain Dew addiction. Yeah,
- 32:11it was, I, that's one of the ones I thought of
- 32:13when we're talking about all this. It was like,
- 32:15I remember Karan Butler had to, had to wean himself
- 32:18off a Mountain Dew, a professional basketball
- 32:20player was addicted to soda. Yeah, addicted to
- 32:26soda. And to tie it back to someone that we kind
- 32:30of pointed out as a prior sports villain, apparently
- 32:33the player, do you remember the player who got
- 32:36him to stop drinking Mountain Dew? Kobe Bryant.
- 32:39It was Mr. Kobe Bryant, RIP, who broke him and
- 32:43was like, no, dude, we're not going to do this.
- 32:47And I want you to think about it, especially,
- 32:49and I want to see if I can find, he would have,
- 32:52and I'm going to read a quote from from Karam
- 32:55Butler, he said, I literally had a Mountain Dew,
- 32:57a one liter or two liter bottle and I immediately
- 33:00tried to hide it. He was hiding it and Kobe asked
- 33:05him, hey man, come on, you can't be putting that
- 33:08stuff in your body. What the hell are you doing?
- 33:11So sometimes it just takes, sometimes you need
- 33:13that friend. You need that person who's gonna
- 33:14pull you aside and say, man, like what you're
- 33:16doing is ridiculous. I just envision Karam Butler
- 33:20during practice or during games having somebody
- 33:23put Mountain Dew in his Gatorade bottle and squirting
- 33:25that in his mouth. Listen, it's the same color
- 33:28as the lemon lime Gatorade. And listen, we can
- 33:32say whatever we want. I'm not a big soda drinker,
- 33:34but Mountain Dew is damn good. Mountain Dew is
- 33:38top two for me. Wow. Okay. Look, that's another
- 33:43episode. We'll do top five top pop sodas all
- 33:47time. That's it. But yeah, Mountain Dew is delicious.
- 33:50I cannot blame them. Got it. No, neither can
- 33:53I. So our next topic is, yeah, let's go into
- 34:02the scariest athletes. Yeah. So this is our fun
- 34:05slash random topic. You know, the wacky thing
- 34:07that we want to go over this week. So you threw
- 34:10this on the list, Kent. You put it in the rundown.
- 34:14I think it's a fantastic question. There's so
- 34:17many directions that we can go with this, but
- 34:20you've got it listed as scariest players slash
- 34:23athletes of all time. I am going to let you lead
- 34:26off on this, sir. Yeah. So I'm just going to,
- 34:29I tried to make a list, you know, of, of every
- 34:32athlete and it's different reasons, right? No,
- 34:35no, no, no, I don't want you to do that. Give
- 34:38me, no, no, let's do this. Give me yours. I'll
- 34:41go with mine and then we can go over the list
- 34:44like how many you want me to give you I got a
- 34:46I got a pretty long list no it's here's the thing
- 34:48you got you've got a pick pick one oh huh pick
- 34:52one I pick one and then we go over the list because
- 34:58I got a list too wow I got so many I know you
- 35:03do different reasons too I know wow but pick
- 35:06one and we can go over some of them but I mean
- 35:09yeah like we'll yeah let's scariest man. Oh man.
- 35:14Wow. Scariest player all time. Scariest athlete
- 35:19all time. Now, now, now you're making me choose.
- 35:22Yes. Yeah. If you want me to go, I'll go. Yeah.
- 35:27Yeah. Yeah, you go. I got to think about it.
- 35:28I wasn't prepared to pick just Yeah, no, I put
- 35:31you I put you on the spot but I mean like because
- 35:33we can sit here and we could rattle off names
- 35:35all day and Maybe and maybe we do a deep dive
- 35:38into each and every one but I need I need like
- 35:40that one. So for me Yeah, who's yours and maybe
- 35:43it'll trigger something in me either. So for
- 35:46me, so we say scariest players of all time So
- 35:48that just when I hear the word scary I start
- 35:51to think of words in terms that are synonymous
- 35:53with it I start to think of crazy, unpredictable,
- 36:01lose their mind in the middle of a game. And
- 36:05I'm keeping this specifically to sports. I'm
- 36:07not going to take this externally. You can if
- 36:09you want to. So this isn't an on the field, off
- 36:12the field type thing. Nah. But I am going to
- 36:15go with Indomicon Sue. Oh, wow. And I'm going
- 36:22to go with Indomitant Sue because he was a player
- 36:26that had gotten the reputation of being so dirty
- 36:29that some of the things that he were doing could
- 36:32cause injuries that could in your career. Stomping
- 36:35on guys' legs, you know, and it was always done
- 36:39in the veil of him being fired up and being an
- 36:41emotional, huge, oversized type player, dominant
- 36:45player for, you know, a stretch of some years
- 36:47there. But for me, like when I saw him, it was
- 36:49just like, I don't even, he was so scary that
- 36:52I didn't even know if I would want him on my
- 36:55team, even if he was a great player, because
- 36:58of the level of unpredictability and the things
- 37:01that he would do would actually hurt the team
- 37:03as well. He would just kind of lose his mind.
- 37:06So off the top of my head, that was just the
- 37:09first one that came to me. And I think it's a
- 37:11strong pick. It's a really good one. And I did
- 37:13not have it on any list that I made. But that's
- 37:16that's a really good one. Yeah, he damn near
- 37:18ripped Jake Delome's head off with grabbing the
- 37:22face mask. Correct. Yeah. And that's the thing.
- 37:25It was it's a it was a violent. Oh, my goodness.
- 37:28And I mean, again, take your size out of it like
- 37:31to grab someone's helmet like that in that manner.
- 37:35Oh, terrible, man. Yeah. Scary, scary, scary
- 37:37guy. Cam Newton also famously as I still like
- 37:41to call them donkey Kong soon donkey Kong sue
- 37:44Yeah, that that's gonna live on it. It's stuck
- 37:46in my head. Yeah Yeah, I mean, I'm gonna go just
- 37:50a different route. I'm gonna stay football though.
- 37:52I got a list but I'm gonna go scary in the sense
- 37:56of I think the opposing team was scared of This
- 38:00guy and he is a top defensive player in the NFL
- 38:04history and he might have been, had a little
- 38:07extra juice or whatever in him. But Lawrence
- 38:13Taylor. I'm sorry, you said juice. Did you mean
- 38:16powder? Maybe, maybe, maybe he had something
- 38:21that was, you know, fueling him. I don't know.
- 38:25But Lawrence Taylor. I'm just gonna say he's
- 38:27the scariest and that's based on like the competitive
- 38:30side of being scary. You knew him on the other
- 38:34side and Ray Lewis might be in that too. But
- 38:37Lawrence Taylor, some say maybe the greatest
- 38:40defensive player ever, linebacker ever in NFL
- 38:42history. I'm sure there's a bunch of football
- 38:46players, but yeah, on the competitive side, I'll
- 38:48just go with Lawrence Taylor. you know, as the,
- 38:51you know, you see him on the other side, you
- 38:53you might want to run the other way. Uh ask Joe
- 38:56Thiesman. Um. Yes. Now, that wasn't like on purpose
- 39:00but you know. No, and look at it. I mean, it
- 39:03happened. It happened. Still. Still. We all watched
- 39:06it happen live. Yes. I'm I'm sure after that,
- 39:10other quarterbacks were uh flinching when Lawrence
- 39:12Taylor would sack them. Yeah. No, I can see that.
- 39:15Yeah, I can absolutely see that. Yeah. No, no
- 39:18LT is a good one. That's a nice strong. That's
- 39:21a nice strong pick. Um, and I did kind of take
- 39:23some of the, some of the air out of your balloon.
- 39:26So do you want to go ahead and just kind of rattle
- 39:28off some of the other names? We could just breeze
- 39:29through them real quick. Some of the people who
- 39:31didn't make, uh, who didn't make that top pick.
- 39:33If you remember John Randall for the Minnesota
- 39:35Vikings, he'd come out there with his face paint
- 39:37a beast on the defensive line. Brian Bosworth,
- 39:42refrigerator, Perry, um, We got Ron Artest, Dennis
- 39:47Rodman, Bill Lambeer, Charles Oakley, Draymond
- 39:49Green. Different reasons, Grayson Allen, you
- 39:52might get tripped. You're scared maybe to just
- 39:55be close to him. Lonnie Lott, one of the biggest
- 39:5980s. He might have been missing, I think he might
- 40:02have been missing a finger or something. I can't
- 40:03remember. And then I had to go just, I could
- 40:07go wrestling all day, but I put this guy on here
- 40:09for wrestling UFC and that's Brock Lesnar. He's
- 40:11a beast of a man still to this day. You know,
- 40:15he may scare he may scare you if you would get
- 40:18into possibly a real fight Yeah, no, those are
- 40:21all really good picks man. The Brock less than
- 40:24one is is is interesting Yeah, and he yeah, he's
- 40:28one of those big menacing and that would lend
- 40:31it to his character and his actual fighting style
- 40:33You know as an MMA fighter too. So yeah until
- 40:36he got knocked out then you're not scared of
- 40:38you Well, no, I know I mean and you can say that
- 40:41all you wanted to but I mean, he's he's still
- 40:43a beast. That's the I mean MMA is different man.
- 40:46Like, you know boxers I vote boxers You know
- 40:50their record, you know, it's like hey, you know,
- 40:52how many losses do they have an MMA guys lose
- 40:54all the time? Even the best fighters are gonna
- 40:56have losses on their record But but I mean he
- 40:59was also fighting other killers as well But but
- 41:02him as a presence is a great is a great pick
- 41:04as a scary athlete And I've got a really quick
- 41:07funny story about Brock Lesnar and why he's scary.
- 41:10So really quick In the wrestling business there
