- Rick Outzen: Hi, I'm Rick Altson. This is Rick's Blog Live. Thank you for joining us. been a big day. Impact 100, Pensacola Bay Area, had a big announcement. It's their finalist to us about it. We got Martha Holden, president of Thank you for joining us. ⁓ Martha Holden: Thank you so much for having us on today. Rick Outzen: Yeah, y y'all changed it up a little bit. Y'all made some history. Tell tell us a little bit about Martha Holden: made history in three ways today. First of all, back in March we announced that we've had our biggest membership ever. 1,313 have joined Impact this year. That means since we went over the 1300 mark, ⁓ we're able grant a 13th grant this year. So there'll be 13 grants of $101,000 each. And then ⁓ an in way that we've made history is ⁓ because we so enjoy hearing from our non-finalists and bec our our finalists, our nonprofits, decided to add to those nonprofits to raise that visibility that they get to hopefully ⁓ have them enjoy the impact of impact. So for the time ever, we've gone from 15 finalists on annual meeting million dollar sundae to 20 this year. Million Dollar Sunday, yes. Rick Outzen: Million Dollar Sunday. Yeah, it's it you are when this started, Impact 100 was built on a real simple concept ⁓ hundred women ⁓ each put a thousand dollars and you would be able to do one impactful of a hundred thousand dollars. Now ⁓ it's million dollar Sunday. Yes. ⁓ And in out of twenty finalists, those who don't get a grant, I've watched it the years. Oftentimes there's so many people in the in the audience that are so impressed, they'll figure out ways to help If it may if it's not the big grant, they'll figure out ways to help ⁓ And sometimes they can come back the next year and have a better chance 'cause they've gotten a little bit more polished in how they do it. th I like the other thing I like about impact is y'all divided it into categories. So it's not all one you've got the list in front of you. Let's w if you mind Just touch on what we've got here. Martha Holden: So we ended up promoting four finalists out of each of the five focus area committees. we'll start out in Arts, Culture, and History with Ballet Pensacola, their project, a holiday classic restored, updating the Nutcracker costumes and lighting. Pensacola Chorus, their project, to Sing, Connecting Choir and Community with Transport and Performance. Pensacola Museum of Guild. Their project Best in Show, Projecting the PMA into the Future, University of West Florida Foundation, their Project WWF, Mobile ⁓ Access Preservation Project. Those are all just the Arts Cults. Rick Outzen: Let let me do the education for you. Because you a breather. ⁓ Education the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, Project Flight Adventure Deck, Elevate in the Future, Santa Rosa Foundation, Little Red Schoolhouse, Access and Increasing Impact. Pensacola Mess Hall, Moving After School, and Umbrella Learning Academy Corporation, Station. a a secure sensory and social emotional learning center. Martha Holden: Yes, and then we move on to Environment and Recreation, where Friends of Pensacola State Parks have a project rebuilding Long Pond Boardwalk, Pensacola Beautiful when their project Moving Beyond Trash, ⁓ and Invasive Species Removal, Pensacola Perdito Bay's Estuary Program, Stories from Bay, Inspiring Stewardship Through Estuary Encounters, and Winterfest of doing business as Five Flags Trolley. And their project, the Impact One Hundred All Access Express. Rick Outzen: Cool. Family Hope Incorporated, doing business as SNP happens, safer for family pets. I was worried about that one being something else. The Pensacola for Humanity, Building Promise, a Habitat Family Promise Partnership, Pregnancy Resource Center, business as Life Options Clinic, Parenting Education and Resource and South Santa Rosa Interfaith Driving Hope for Families. Martha Holden: And then we'll round it out with Health and Wellness with Forever Des, Beyond the Dress, a Resource Hub for Teen Girls, and Hope Clinic with their project Expanding Access to Dental Care, Sacred Foundation, their project The Willow Boutique, an impactful space, and the Project, yes, Seven Project their project, Pedaling Beyond Limits. Rick Outzen: So what happens next? Y'all have the have your annual meeting in October for our viewers. ⁓ what's process now? How do y'all go through the decision process? Martha Holden: So now each of our finalists will put together a one-page summary that will go out to our membership. And the ladies have an opportunity to either vote via election buddy or via an online system or an absentee if they're not able to attend the Million Dollar Sunday. on that day, that October the eleventh, at the annual meeting date, we'll gather together at the Hilton on Pensacola Beach and ⁓ we'll hear from all 20 of these finalists. Each of them will make a four-minute presentation to the membership then we'll immediately vote. We have ballots that are created by the Supervisor of Elections teams for Scambia and Santa Rosa County, and they man the same booths that we'll use for other elections and one woman, vote. We believe in that. And so each person will complete their ballot ⁓ and submit it day. And we'll go behind scenes and tabulate while everybody has some refreshments and takes a break. Then we'll get back together, have a brief meeting as required by our bylaws, and then we will get to announcing those grant recipients and awarding the big checks for pictures only. Rick Outzen: But but it all happens in one day. And I think that's the other thing that that is really cool that those that make the presentations, they get to hang around and they find out right there's no more doubt. ⁓ And think having the supervisor elections involved, ⁓ they how to run elections and voting. so it really becomes ⁓ a real million dollar day. Martha Holden: It really is. However, we don't do everything that day. We don't give them the money that picture with the big tech. But we actually pair each nonprofit grant recipient with a board liaison from our board of directors. And that helps them to understand our draw request process ⁓ the documentation we require in order to either pay a vendor or to reimburse them. And they have two years to get their project completed. Rick Outzen: Right, right. The other thing before we go is soon as that meeting's over, y'all start the process for recruiting people for the next ⁓ Martha Holden: Sure do. Membership season will be off with a bang. And we've got thirteen meet and mingles as we call ⁓ opportunities to come and meet the ladies of impact. And then also at each one of those we get a non profit grant recipient that has already finished their transformative project to come and tell us what a difference that made for them. Rick Outzen: Great. We'll have we'll have that schedule up on the blog as soon as we learn about it. We'll also be doing the big story on the announcement of those who received the money. it is a wonderful group to a part of. And the great thing about the Meet and Mingles is they're done all over the community, Santa Rosa and Escambia, ⁓ different times day, ⁓ so it fit anyone's work schedule. Martha, thank you much for coming on. Martha Holden: Thank you so much for having us and for your support as always. Rick Outzen: Always, always. We're gonna go ahead and take a break. I'm Rick Altson, this is Rick's Vlog Live. We'll be right back. Martha Holden: Mm-hmm.
