Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast. Welcome media to Trivia. That's right. This is
- 0:13Speaker 1: the second time we're doing a dedicated episode too. It
- 0:15Speaker 1: last time was the Christmas edition. This time it's just
- 0:18Speaker 1: straight trivia. Steve will be satisfied. There's no family feud,
- 0:22Speaker 1: Christmas questions. Who complicated? And I should point out that
- 0:25Speaker 1: I think me and Brody have run have won the
- 0:29Speaker 1: same number of times. You guys have won eighty percent
- 0:32Speaker 1: of the times that we have played in But in
- 0:36Speaker 1: Brodie's defense, how many times have you played Brodie three
- 0:41Speaker 1: two two and he's won twice? Seriously, Seriously, Clay has
- 0:47Speaker 1: a similar wins every time he's here. Every time Clay
- 0:50Speaker 1: has played once in Clay's won once, I've played once
- 0:54Speaker 1: and got last. Yeah, that's understandable. Well, I don't understand
- 1:00Speaker 1: why darn stays how Brody wins every time he comes.
- 1:03Speaker 1: He's that smart. Are you nervous? Jay? You gotta a
- 1:05Speaker 1: little bit nervous, No idea. Now, we have a special
- 1:08Speaker 1: cast in the room. We have Jay Scott, Jason Phelps,
- 1:11Speaker 1: and Paul Lewis. Why are they here, Steve? Whatcuse they're
- 1:15Speaker 1: playing trivia with us? Well, besides that, this episode's coming
- 1:18Speaker 1: out before The other thing is this this is a trick question. No,
- 1:20Speaker 1: I just want you to tell folks get him excited
- 1:23Speaker 1: for the next well, because we're because we're recording a
- 1:26Speaker 1: show in which we discuss um the mythical cous Dear.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I like it, And why did you skip me? You've
- 1:33Speaker 1: played before, Garrett, you played the first time we did trivia,
- 1:37Speaker 1: also drawn by Garrett Long. In the room. We have
- 1:39Speaker 1: Jayscott step and Nella Brody Henderson who wins every time
- 1:43Speaker 1: he's here, Paul Lewis, Garrett Long, Philly Engineer, and Jason Phelps.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Now this is meat eat Trivia. This is a trivia
- 1:49Speaker 1: you're not going to get from Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit
- 1:52Speaker 1: Ernie bar Knight trivia. These are born out of meat eaters.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Four verticals here we go, not vertical, hunt, fish, conservation,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and wild foods. Yet I will point out that that
- 2:06Speaker 1: is not a good way to describe this, because we
- 2:08Speaker 1: don't have mountain men and pioneers. But they figure heavily
- 2:12Speaker 1: into trivial pursuit. That's they figure heavily into meat eater trivia.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Now there is a prize. Meat eater will donate one
- 2:19Speaker 1: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing.
- 2:23Speaker 1: We've played five times so far. Brody's won twice, Steve's
- 2:26Speaker 1: won twice, and Clay newcomb Is won once. Now we
- 2:29Speaker 1: have some housekeeping from last time. Last time we played,
- 2:32Speaker 1: I asked the room what popular fish has a nickname,
- 2:35Speaker 1: the copper belly. The correct answer was bluegill, But Jason
- 2:39Speaker 1: Isaacs rode in to let me know that it's also
- 2:41Speaker 1: common for offshore anglers on the East Coast to refer
- 2:44Speaker 1: to gag groupers as copper bellies. So if you said
- 2:47Speaker 1: gag grouper, which nobody in this room did, you would
- 2:51Speaker 1: have also gotten that one right. And finally, I made
- 2:54Speaker 1: an egregious mistake on the last episode I did. Did
- 2:57Speaker 1: it cost me a win? No, Well, we'll get to
- 3:00Speaker 1: that part about twenty folks, wh rode in to let
- 3:02Speaker 1: me know of the air. I asked what state has
- 3:06Speaker 1: the most game wardens in the country, a statistic I
- 3:09Speaker 1: got from game Warden Edu dot Org. I told you, guys,
- 3:12Speaker 1: the correct answer was Texas, but that was wrong. The
- 3:15Speaker 1: real correct answer was Florida. Paul Wallet, who works for
- 3:19Speaker 1: the Division of Law Enforcement for the Florida Fish and
- 3:22Speaker 1: Wildlife Conservation Commission added some clarity this answer. He said
- 3:26Speaker 1: that about twenty years ago, Florida voted to combine the
- 3:29Speaker 1: Florida Marine Patrol and Florida Game and Freshwater Fish Commission,
- 3:33Speaker 1: which came together to form North America's largest conservation law
- 3:36Speaker 1: enforcement agency. So they currently have eight hundred and forty
- 3:40Speaker 1: eight sworn in members, while Texas only has four eighty. Now,
- 3:43Speaker 1: this doesn't change the results to the game. No one
- 3:46Speaker 1: in the room said Florida, and Steve, who won the
- 3:48Speaker 1: Game of Trivia, said Missouri. So it wouldn't have altered
- 3:50Speaker 1: the outcome. But I feel bad. That's a terrible mistake
- 3:53Speaker 1: and a vow to be better. Jak a picture him
- 3:56Speaker 1: getting a job as a real game show host. I
- 4:00Speaker 1: like it. I like it all right. Now for the
- 4:02Speaker 1: game of trivia, play the music, Phil, Look, I need
- 4:08Speaker 1: to know what I stand to win everything. How I'm saying,
- 4:12Speaker 1: just tend to win everything. Well done, Here we go.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The first question, like every time we play, is multiple choice.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The category is fishing. The question is what is the
- 4:32Speaker 1: most common lake name in America? Long, Mud, twin or horseshoe. Yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 1: we've got all of those around me. Yeah, where I
- 4:45Speaker 1: grew up within sixty miles, all four of these existed.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Some of them were even, like Long two and Long one,
- 4:53Speaker 1: so these are probably very familiar. Again, what is the
- 4:56Speaker 1: most common lake name in America? Your options are long, mud, twin,
- 5:02Speaker 1: or horseshoe. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 5:08Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Jay saying twin, Steve saying mud,
- 5:12Speaker 1: Brody saying twin, Paul saying twin, Garrett saying twin, Phil
- 5:17Speaker 1: saying twin, and Jason Phelps saying mud. The correct answer
- 5:23Speaker 1: is mud lake. There are eight hundred ninety seven mud lakes,
- 5:29Speaker 1: four hundred long lakes, four hundred twin lakes, and three
- 5:33Speaker 1: hundred and eighty five horseshoe lakes. As far as the
- 5:35Speaker 1: most common creek names go, the top three monikers go
- 5:39Speaker 1: for it clear, dry, No, neither blue. There's three options,
- 5:45Speaker 1: so you give me a third guess. We always laugh
- 5:50Speaker 1: about clear and dry, Clear and dry, and you say blue,
- 5:53Speaker 1: So you got one of those. The most common creek
- 5:55Speaker 1: names are mill Creek, Spring Creek, and dry creek. If
- 5:58Speaker 1: you want to deep dive into lake nomenclature, I covered
- 6:01Speaker 1: the subject on the Mediator dot com last year in
- 6:03Speaker 1: an article called America's most common lake names. See how
- 6:06Speaker 1: he brings it around to articles? Jay very good? Was
- 6:09Speaker 1: that just Stephen Jason? Who got mud? There? Someone else?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Get it? Ye? Justine Jason? Phil what happened to you?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Our counter on the wall? Here we are finding a
- 6:19Speaker 1: new solution for the television or probably mounted somewhere else.
- 6:22Speaker 1: We're in between the monitor. You know, every time we've played,
- 6:24Speaker 1: we became a little more advanced with trivia, but now
- 6:26Speaker 1: we just took a step back. All I apologize, we
- 6:29Speaker 1: are I felt to do better. Spencer, thank you. We
- 6:32Speaker 1: are onto question to the topic is biology. This next
- 6:35Speaker 1: great question is via my wife Shelby. If you have
- 6:37Speaker 1: a question that you think is right from question online,
- 6:40Speaker 1: that's right. You can either over supper like my wife
- 6:44Speaker 1: or email me at trivia at the mediator dot com.
- 6:49Speaker 1: The question is what is the largest cat that purrs?
- 6:55Speaker 1: What is the largest cat that purrs? M dude, I
- 7:04Speaker 1: have no idea. We have a stumped room. I think
- 7:07Speaker 1: I've seen two people right an answer so far? The
- 7:09Speaker 1: largest cat that purrs? I'm just gonna put down my
- 7:14Speaker 1: favorite cat. What's that? Brody? Oh? Did he cover this?
- 7:20Speaker 1: That's quite a hint. You just gave them advantage. Yeah,
- 7:22Speaker 1: someone who's heard every episode, I have no idea. Does
- 7:26Speaker 1: everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 7:30Speaker 1: We have Jay saying a tiger, Steve saying a jaguire,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Jody saying aunt, Paul saying an African lion, Garrett saying
- 7:40Speaker 1: a panther, Phil saying jaguire, Jason saying tiger. The correct
- 7:44Speaker 1: answer is mountain lion, which Brody got. I think we
- 7:49Speaker 1: would accept panther, right, Yeah, we would accept panther, so
- 7:55Speaker 1: we had Brody and Phil get it. Garrett. I'm sorry,
- 7:59Speaker 1: garrettead panther. Cat species can be divided into two groups.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Cats that per, cats that roar. Generally, it's smaller cats
- 8:06Speaker 1: that per like bobcats, links, cheetahs, and mountain lions, and
- 8:09Speaker 1: bigger cats that roar like African lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Some scientists speculators that with jaguars, some scientists speculate cats
- 8:22Speaker 1: evolved the ability to pur as a way to camouflage
- 8:25Speaker 1: the cries of nursing kittens. The perfect game is still
- 8:30Speaker 1: intact for Brody, Henders lots unpack. They're in that little
- 8:33Speaker 1: that little interstitial like what they've developed the ability to
- 8:37Speaker 1: pur to muffle the cries of kittens. Yeah, they're at
- 8:40Speaker 1: a similar uh desk. What would be the frequency? There
- 8:44Speaker 1: you go, that's right, you got it from Fill the engineer.
- 8:46Speaker 1: We are onto question three. The topic is cooking. What
- 8:50Speaker 1: type of fish is the main ingredient in an Alaska
- 8:54Speaker 1: sushi roll? Now, this is not a trick question. Sometimes
- 8:58Speaker 1: an Alaska sushi roll will have imitate crab meat, which,
- 9:01Speaker 1: as we know from playing trivia, is made of Alaskan pollock.
- 9:04Speaker 1: That's not what I'm looking for. This is not a
- 9:06Speaker 1: trick question. So what is the what type of fish
- 9:08Speaker 1: is the main ingredient in an Alaska sushi role? Steve
- 9:14Speaker 1: again seems stumped exactly what wakes I don't want to
- 9:20Speaker 1: give it the way. Okay, does everybody have an answer
- 9:25Speaker 1: written down? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 9:29Speaker 1: Jay saying cod, Steve saying king salmon. No, no no, no, no,
- 9:34Speaker 1: no, no no, not what I said, Just samon. He says cammon, salmon.
- 9:37Speaker 1: What are these called? The high level of specificity? Also
- 9:42Speaker 1: on his white board, he has a middle finger. Job
- 9:45Speaker 1: Brody says salmon, Paul says salmon, Garrett says eel, Phil
- 9:49Speaker 1: says salmon, and Jason says salmon. The room did very well.
- 9:52Speaker 1: The correct answer is salmon. The other main ingredients are
- 9:57Speaker 1: often some combination of cucumber, avocad o, mayo, was sabi,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and rice. The origin of the Alaska role is unknown,
- 10:04Speaker 1: but it became populous shortly after the creation of the
- 10:06Speaker 1: California role in the nineteen sixties, which has very similar ingredients.
- 10:11Speaker 1: People did too well there, so I'm gonna need everyone
- 10:13Speaker 1: to raise their hand if they got it right. So
- 10:15Speaker 1: ste Brodie, Paul me Js, would you you put down cod. Yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 1: we're on two questions. He's going he's going North Alaska.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That's right. I thought you said North Alaska. I've got
- 10:29Speaker 1: two and Steve's got two and you got too now
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think and scarf two, No, just one one. We're onto.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Question for the topic is public lands. This next great
- 10:40Speaker 1: question comes to us via Wyatt Gross. If you have
- 10:42Speaker 1: a question you think is right from mediator trivia, you
- 10:44Speaker 1: can send it to me at trivia at the meadeater
- 10:47Speaker 1: dot com. I got a question, Yeah, uh, tell everybody
- 10:49Speaker 1: about your new tattoo. I got a new it's not
- 10:51Speaker 1: that new. I got it in November, but you know,
- 10:54Speaker 1: no long sleeves weather right now. I got multiple new tattoos. No,
- 11:00Speaker 1: not that one. You're you gonna take a guess at
- 11:02Speaker 1: what that is. That is a cattle brand. That is
- 11:05Speaker 1: a cattle brand of the original owners of the Lebreya tarpits.
- 11:09Speaker 1: No shit, that's where my first date was, really with
- 11:12Speaker 1: my wife. I like it. The other new tattoo that
- 11:15Speaker 1: Steve is referring to is aces and eights and then
- 11:18Speaker 1: a skull to represent the fifth mystery card, dead man's
- 11:21Speaker 1: hand from your home state will shot right there in
- 11:24Speaker 1: South Dakota Deadwood. Question for the topic is public lands. Again.
- 11:29Speaker 1: This is via Wyatt Gross. Five states west of the
- 11:32Speaker 1: Mississippi River don't have a national park named two of them.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Five states west of the Mississippi River don't have a
- 11:43Speaker 1: national park name two of them. There's a lot of
- 11:49Speaker 1: a lot of thinking going on. I see people thinking
- 11:51Speaker 1: about where the Mississippi is, about what's on the left
- 11:57Speaker 1: side of there, and then thinking about where national parks are.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Give me two of the five states. Phil is laughing.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Phil may give us a state on the east side
- 12:08Speaker 1: of the Mississippi. Is that? What's funny? Thanks Spencer, appreciate it.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I'm just trying to differential. I'm trying to remember what
- 12:14Speaker 1: it's considered a monument and what's a park and what's
- 12:16Speaker 1: us Yeah, we are just looking for national parks. I
- 12:21Speaker 1: hate Truman Man. Well, last time I was on here,
- 12:23Speaker 1: I had so many people calling and be like, ha, ha,
- 12:25Speaker 1: you're dumb. Awe of your mom? Was it? No, she
- 12:33Speaker 1: doesn't listen to podcast, but my dad was one of them.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? You right, go ahead and
- 12:41Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Jay saying Oregon and Idaho,
- 12:45Speaker 1: Steve saying Nebraska and Idaho, Brodie saying Nebraska and North Dakota,
- 12:51Speaker 1: Paul saying Nebraska and Kansas. S Garrett saying Texts and Oklahoma,
- 12:57Speaker 1: philis Idaho and Oregon, and Jason saint Kansas and Oklahoma.
- 13:04Speaker 1: The correct answers are Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Now this wasn't all or nothing, and I think we
- 13:11Speaker 1: only had one person who got both of them being
- 13:15Speaker 1: Oh no, we had two people. We had Jason and Paul.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Well done, Jason, Paul, what's the national park in North Dakota.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I don't know if Teddy Roosevelt, Yeah, I guess I
- 13:26Speaker 1: couldn't remember where. Now there are twenty states. There are
- 13:34Speaker 1: Creators in the Moon in Idaho and Creators of the Moon,
- 13:38Speaker 1: a monument or apart I thought was Now in Idaho
- 13:41Speaker 1: you technically get a sliver of Yellowstone, which we've talked about,
- 13:46Speaker 1: which has of death. Now there are twenty states in
- 13:50Speaker 1: total that don't have an aug the Zona death article,
- 13:52Speaker 1: zone of death article. You could read that on the
- 13:54Speaker 1: media dot com and it's called bottroom banter colon Yellowstone
- 13:59Speaker 1: zone of Death, which we all also talked about on
- 14:00Speaker 1: a podcast probably about a year ago. Now there are
- 14:03Speaker 1: twenty stets in totally don't have a national park, with
- 14:05Speaker 1: most of them being located in the northeast. And as
- 14:08Speaker 1: we discussed with the first question of the first ever
- 14:11Speaker 1: game of medior Trivia, California leads the country with nine
- 14:14Speaker 1: national parks. We are onto question five. We will get
- 14:19Speaker 1: a scoreboard update after this. The topic is deer camp.
- 14:24Speaker 1: What popular liquor logo features a stag with a glowing
- 14:28Speaker 1: crucifix between its antlers? What popular liquor logo features a
- 14:36Speaker 1: stag with a glowing crucifix between its antlers. Do you
- 14:40Speaker 1: have to get spelling right here? No, don't give hints.
- 14:46Speaker 1: We had some fast answers. We've had some no answers
- 14:50Speaker 1: because dere can't spell old crow. He's like some it's like,
- 14:57Speaker 1: oh l no he does everybody have an answer? We'll
- 15:05Speaker 1: give you a second here, Paul, go ahead and reveal
- 15:07Speaker 1: your answers. And three two one we have j jasab stems.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Jay says, no idea, see you saying yeagermeister, Brody saying yeagermeister,
- 15:17Speaker 1: Paul without an answer, Garrett saying yeager, yager, and yeager.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I just like to ask, has anybody ever been over five?
- 15:26Speaker 1: It's probably happened. You'll come around. The correct answer is yeagermeister.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Pat dirk And recently covered this in his article in
- 15:33Speaker 1: themedia dot com called the post Killed Traditions of North
- 15:36Speaker 1: American hunters. According to Yagermeister, the logo was inspired by
- 15:40Speaker 1: Saint Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. Saint Hubert gained
- 15:44Speaker 1: this title after seeing an enormous white stag with a
- 15:47Speaker 1: glowing cross between its antlers walking through the forest. Hubert
- 15:51Speaker 1: took this as a sign from God. Bowed to better himself,
- 15:54Speaker 1: quit hunting, and joined the church as a missionary, And
- 15:56Speaker 1: since nineteen thirty five, Saint Hubert Stag has been on
- 15:59Speaker 1: every bottle of yagers. Aren't you as part of your
- 16:02Speaker 1: little thing? Gonna say what yeager micer means? What does
- 16:04Speaker 1: it mean? Hunt Master? Oh? I like it? Didn't she
- 16:07Speaker 1: read Phelps's board? No, yeah, Master, Hunter, well done, no
- 16:11Speaker 1: bonus points, but I like it. Phil, give us a
- 16:13Speaker 1: scoreboard update, all right? In first place we have Jason
- 16:17Speaker 1: Phelps with four points? Serious pelts leaps. Is that surprising? Why?
- 16:23Speaker 1: Because because here's the thing. Next time, Brody due well
- 16:26Speaker 1: by me, Broody duell. Because we're exposed so much of
- 16:29Speaker 1: the same shit as Spencer, Like we email all day
- 16:32Speaker 1: about it. Oh this you read that? So it's like
- 16:34Speaker 1: we're always like reading the same shit. But you're not
- 16:38Speaker 1: in our little loot, like we have a similar loots independently.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Curious has no right to be winning. It's rigged in
- 16:46Speaker 1: our favorite. It's our favorite because we're in the same
- 16:50Speaker 1: like mental space all the time. Jason is just Jay
- 16:53Speaker 1: is hailing from two far like Jays not absorbing any
- 16:56Speaker 1: of the like metal, You're doing great I'm really happy
- 16:59Speaker 1: for you. Stephen Brody are tied for second with three points,
- 17:03Speaker 1: followed by Paul Garrett and myself. Yea, we are halfway
- 17:07Speaker 1: through the game. Somewhere along the line. We are now
- 17:19Speaker 1: onto question six. The topic is fishing Southern Ontario produces
- 17:25Speaker 1: more of this type of phishing bait than anyone else
- 17:28Speaker 1: in the world. Oh, I know what that is. Steve
- 17:32Speaker 1: knows what that is. The question is Southern Ontario produces
- 17:35Speaker 1: more of this type of phishing bait than anyone else
- 17:39Speaker 1: in the world. Again, a few confident answers, and if
- 17:44Speaker 1: you know answers so far, Steve is writing a novel
- 17:49Speaker 1: over there as well, to go with whatever his answer is. Yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 1: this is where you catch up. This is where I
- 17:57Speaker 1: catch up. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 18:01Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Jay saying salmon eggs, Steve
- 18:05Speaker 1: saying Canadian crawlers aka nightcrawlers, Brody saying live minnows, middles
- 18:12Speaker 1: Ball saying eggs, Garrett saying suckers, Phil saying power bait
- 18:17Speaker 1: exclamation point, and Jason sang sand shrimp. The correct answer
- 18:23Speaker 1: is nightcrawlers. It's too easy, It's estimated that my classics
- 18:27Speaker 1: compost pile, my compost pile gives Canada run for its money.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It's estimated that about six hundred million nightcrawlers are sold
- 18:35Speaker 1: in North America each year, creating a two hundred million
- 18:38Speaker 1: dollar industry. Although often marketed as Canadian nightcrawlers, they're actually
- 18:43Speaker 1: native to Europe. It's believed the first nightcrawlers arrived here
- 18:46Speaker 1: hundreds of years ago in the soils and plants of
- 18:49Speaker 1: European settlers. Isn't that wild though, that that worm is work.
- 18:53Speaker 1: You can find that worm all over the place, and
- 18:56Speaker 1: that's a non native worm. Oh yeah, the honeybee is
- 18:58Speaker 1: a non native bug. I read something about Minnesota once
- 19:01Speaker 1: that they have like fifteen types of earthworms or nightcrawlers,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and zero of them are native to the state. It's
- 19:08Speaker 1: like there's like one native worm, and it's like an
- 19:10Speaker 1: aquatic worm you're probably never seen in your life. One
- 19:12Speaker 1: thing I like is you go to any boat launch
- 19:14Speaker 1: in the world and find a grassy patch and dig
- 19:17Speaker 1: down and it's got crawlers. Because people are always dumping
- 19:19Speaker 1: their crawlers, and southern Ontario is where most of them
- 19:23Speaker 1: come from. Question, what's up? Question seven. The topic is gear.
- 19:31Speaker 1: It's common for archery companies to advertise IBO speed when
- 19:36Speaker 1: marketing a new bow. What does I b O stand for?
- 19:43Speaker 1: So if you were on like prim Archer's website right now,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you would look at one of their bows, the Nexus too,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and one of the stats that you would see, like
- 19:51Speaker 1: for any new bow, it would say IBO speed. What
- 19:54Speaker 1: does IBO stand for? Jay is writing fast? This maybe
- 19:59Speaker 1: j question that we have here, I b oh. A
- 20:08Speaker 1: lot of writing going on, a lot of thinking, a
- 20:10Speaker 1: lot of wrong. Folks are trying to invent an acronym
- 20:13Speaker 1: if they don't know it. Does everybody have an answer?
- 20:17Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Jay saying
- 20:21Speaker 1: international bow Hunter with nothing, Steve saying International bow Org.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Brody saying International bow Operation. Oh, initial bow operation, Paul
- 20:33Speaker 1: saying international bow Thing, Garrett saying I ian bass owl
- 20:40Speaker 1: Ian bass own bass Owl's not right, fill with no answer,
- 20:45Speaker 1: Phelps saying International bow Org. The correct answer, which nobody
- 20:51Speaker 1: got is the International bow Hunters Organization. Now we had
- 20:55Speaker 1: some close but nobody finished with the hunters after bow
- 21:00Speaker 1: Oh Man, that's not true. Steve somehow just got the
- 21:05Speaker 1: right answer. The International Bowhaunters organization created this task as
- 21:09Speaker 1: a way to standardized speed ratings. The IBO speed is
- 21:12Speaker 1: obtained at point blank range by shooting a bow at
- 21:15Speaker 1: its max poundage with an arrow that weighs five grains
- 21:18Speaker 1: per pound of draw weight. Simply put, the higher the
- 21:21Speaker 1: IBO speed, the more powerful the bow. We're onto question eight.
- 21:24Speaker 1: After this we will get another scoreboard update from Phil.
- 21:29Speaker 1: The topic is cooking. What are the two ingredients in
- 21:32Speaker 1: a ru? Ru is spelled r O u X. What
- 21:39Speaker 1: are the two ingredients in a roo? Some quick writing
- 21:45Speaker 1: a confident room. Everybody have an answer? I do? I
- 21:50Speaker 1: feel like there's three. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We have Jay saying salt and vinegar, Steve saying our butter,
- 22:01Speaker 1: Brody saying oil and flour, Paul saying butter and salt,
- 22:05Speaker 1: Garrett saying butter and flour, Phil saying flour and oil,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and Jason saying flour and water. The correct answer is
- 22:13Speaker 1: flour and fat or oil. Now, Steve said butter, I
- 22:16Speaker 1: would give a role with complications. Would I would give
- 22:19Speaker 1: that to you? I would give Garrett also said butters
- 22:22Speaker 1: like that My base is like because that's why I'm
- 22:24Speaker 1: saying there too. There's gonna be like a meat byproduct, right,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I think there would be three. The most popular no,
- 22:31Speaker 1: because no. The most popular recipre on the meata dot
- 22:34Speaker 1: com that uses a rue is Jenny Wheatley's Goose Gumbo.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Now this is a quote because the goose from her recipe,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Gumbo's richness in depth can be attributed to dark rue,
- 22:44Speaker 1: a chocolate colored oil and flour mixture that gives many
- 22:47Speaker 1: Creole dishes their signature flavor. You can find this recipe
- 22:50Speaker 1: on our website by simply typing in goose gumbo was
- 22:54Speaker 1: wronged Phil Uh. We have a new UH leader, Brody
- 23:01Speaker 1: Steven Ronella Oh, and then Brody and Jason are tied
- 23:04Speaker 1: for second before so what with three? Steve has five,
- 23:08Speaker 1: Steve's five, Brodie and Jason have four, Garrett and myself
- 23:12Speaker 1: have three. We have a question if we need a tiebreaker,
- 23:15Speaker 1: which is numerical, the closest who gets it will win.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Do you have like any of that would like not
- 23:20Speaker 1: go in Steve's favor that you can pull out a
- 23:22Speaker 1: like um? But I feel like the ibo. I was
- 23:28Speaker 1: pretty disappointed in you, Phelps, because you're like an engineer,
- 23:32Speaker 1: your trained as an engineer. You're an avid archer. You
- 23:36Speaker 1: are like way into like yeah, but you just stuff
- 23:39Speaker 1: like that, like measuring thing. You just take the acronym
- 23:41Speaker 1: for what it is and just know that it was all.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Question ninety topic is fishing. Ten states have designated the
- 23:50Speaker 1: brook trout as their official state fish name. One of them.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Ten states have designated the brook trout as their fisial
- 24:00Speaker 1: state fish name. One of them, ten, ten of them.
- 24:06Speaker 1: You got a one of them? Five chance again this one.
- 24:10Speaker 1: It's a good attitude. Does everybody have an answer? Go
- 24:15Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Jay saying Maine,
- 24:18Speaker 1: Steve saying Michigan, Brody saying Pennsylvania, Paul saying Colorado, Garrett
- 24:22Speaker 1: saying Idaho, Phil saying Pennsylvania, and Jason saying Colorado. The
- 24:27Speaker 1: ten states are Georgia, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York,
- 24:31Speaker 1: North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia. Yeah, you're
- 24:36Speaker 1: not going to name a non native fish your state fish, Phelps,
- 24:39Speaker 1: That's not true. They do it with birds. South Dakota, right,
- 24:43Speaker 1: South Dakota is a native bird. They have a nine
- 24:45Speaker 1: native bird for state bird. Sorryn's right? Can you raise
- 24:48Speaker 1: your hand if you guys got that one? Brook trout
- 24:51Speaker 1: is the most popular state fish in America. Only two
- 24:53Speaker 1: states don't recognize a state fish, those being Indiana in Ohio.
- 24:58Speaker 1: While Indiana hasn't shown much progress on declaring a state fish,
- 25:01Speaker 1: Ohio lawmakers have been fighting about the subject for forty years,
- 25:06Speaker 1: while downstate lawmakers want it to be the smallmouth bass.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Their upstate piers won't vote for anything except the walleye.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Can't they split the state just have like Northern Indiana's
- 25:21Speaker 1: state fish. You know they probably could. I think at
- 25:24Speaker 1: this point it's just kind of fun because I saw
- 25:26Speaker 1: something where there was somebody from the leader of their
- 25:30Speaker 1: house or whatever, said, I will kill this bill every
- 25:32Speaker 1: time it comes up if it's not a walleye. Question ten,
- 25:36Speaker 1: give us one more scoreboard update. Here in first place
- 25:40Speaker 1: with six points we have Stephen Runella, followed closely hot
- 25:44Speaker 1: on his heels, Brodie Henderson, and then Jason and myself
- 25:49Speaker 1: with four InCred So we have a chance for a tiebreaker.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Let's remember that twenty question ten the topic is the
- 25:59Speaker 1: last question. Last question is for all the marbles, so
- 26:01Speaker 1: I could get it wrong. Brody could get it right,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and it goes to Tyro got a tiebreaker. This next
- 26:07Speaker 1: great question comes to us via Joe Sanger. If you
- 26:10Speaker 1: have a question you think is right for Mediator Trivia,
- 26:12Speaker 1: you can send it to trivia at the mediator dot com.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Name either the biggest or the smallest waterfowl in North America.
- 26:21Speaker 1: This is going by Waight. Name either the biggest or
- 26:24Speaker 1: the smallest waterfowl in North America. Don't give me two answers,
- 26:29Speaker 1: just looking for one. You need to pick if you're
- 26:31Speaker 1: going for big or small. A lot of pressure. Steve
- 26:37Speaker 1: wrote something but a second, guessing himself. Brody looks confident.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? I don't want to go
- 26:45Speaker 1: to tiebreaker, man, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 26:48Speaker 1: have Jay saying teel, Steve saying tundra swan, Brody saying swan,
- 26:53Speaker 1: Paul saying swan, Garrett saying swan, Phil saying Canada goose
- 26:59Speaker 1: big big kind like a huge one, and Jayson, no,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I mean bigger than that, and Jason saying a trumpeter swan.
- 27:10Speaker 1: The correct answer the biggest is a trumpeter swan, while
- 27:14Speaker 1: the smallest is a green wing teal now I'm not
- 27:17Speaker 1: sure how to handle this. You can't take swan because
- 27:20Speaker 1: there's too many swans in the world. I was specific
- 27:23Speaker 1: and wrong. He was not specific and wrong. To give
- 27:27Speaker 1: it to you, I do nothing. I would give give
- 27:29Speaker 1: it to him because if you had said teal, I'd
- 27:31Speaker 1: have been like, well, you didn't say there's green, blue
- 27:36Speaker 1: and cinnamon. You didn't write teal. I know, but green
- 27:41Speaker 1: wing teal, green wing teal is the smallest. But just
- 27:45Speaker 1: you can't. I can't get penalized for having more information down.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I was wrong, flat out. Brody was wrong. I think
- 27:50Speaker 1: we give it. You're talking about for the fun you do.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Now what he said, he has a tiebreak, so we're
- 28:02Speaker 1: gonna get it. I think to keep this fun bullshit,
- 28:07Speaker 1: I'll do it and then I'll accept the results later.
- 28:10Speaker 1: You gotta accept here limitations here. Now the tiebreaker, which
- 28:14Speaker 1: we've only done a few times before. I remember Stephen
- 28:16Speaker 1: Clay went to a tiebreaker and we had Cal and
- 28:19Speaker 1: Brody go to a tiebreaker, So this will be the
- 28:22Speaker 1: third time we have gone to a tiebreaker. Although Steve
- 28:24Speaker 1: disputes that the tiebreaker is jam Ferguson caught the world
- 28:29Speaker 1: record black croppy in twenty eighteen from a small Tennessee pond.
- 28:32Speaker 1: It measured just over nineteen inches For the win, I
- 28:36Speaker 1: need you to tell me it's wait and I have
- 28:37Speaker 1: a picture for you to look at. Closest wins. The
- 28:42Speaker 1: closest will be the winner. I will show it to
- 28:47Speaker 1: the whole room. You guys can play along if you
- 28:49Speaker 1: want to guess how big this crop he is. But
- 28:52Speaker 1: the only answer is that matter. Are Brody and Steve
- 28:56Speaker 1: jam Ferguson in Tennessee in twenty eighteen. The crappy again
- 29:01Speaker 1: not long arm in that thing either just over nineteen inches?
- 29:05Speaker 1: Is it prices right rules or just closes? No, we
- 29:07Speaker 1: do not do prices right rules. Closest will be declared
- 29:11Speaker 1: the winner. Do you guys have an answer? Yeah, go
- 29:16Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying four
- 29:20Speaker 1: pounds and thirteen ounces and Steve saying four pounds. The
- 29:24Speaker 1: winner is by the correct answer was five pounds and
- 29:32Speaker 1: seven ounces. Okay, now that's over. We can all agree
- 29:35Speaker 1: that Broody should not have gone. You can put an aster. No,
- 29:43Speaker 1: I'll concede that was just from you. Two can work
- 29:45Speaker 1: together to sign who the hundred dollars ghost to you.
- 29:48Speaker 1: How about that? Well, only there's only one thing I'm
- 29:52Speaker 1: gonna except again, Theodore roosebout conservation partners. They will get
- 30:00Speaker 1: the one hundred dollars. Now, when this goes down to history, though,
- 30:03Speaker 1: I will declare Steve the winner. Sorry, Brodie, I can
- 30:06Speaker 1: live with that. Okay, So me and Brody are tied
- 30:09Speaker 1: on wounds. No, you have now taken first place. You
- 30:12Speaker 1: have three. Brody has to tear our friendship part. We're
- 30:16Speaker 1: supposed to fish together on my birthday, depending on the
- 30:19Speaker 1: wind speed. Okay, is that salon, Brody? Did we got
- 30:23Speaker 1: a trivia before then? I think we have one next
- 30:26Speaker 1: weekend the week after. If I die in a freak
- 30:28Speaker 1: ice fishing accident on the on my birthday, huh, they
- 30:32Speaker 1: should put a polygraph on Brody. Okay, I like it.
- 30:36Speaker 1: When did you last see by? Thank you guys for playing.
- 30:40Speaker 1: We got more trivia coming at you soon. Thanks Spencer.
- 30:43Speaker 1: That was great man, Thank you. Thank
