- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so glad to be here.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: This is my first podcast.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm really excited to be on the podcast today.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, great.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, daily and for the ones is the perfect first podcast.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm glad you're here.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to your current role with the duly health and charitable fund?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, so I really began my career in occupational therapy, so the clinical side is kind of where my passion and my career started.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: I spent about 10 years helping individuals improve their quality of life through meaningful hands on care.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: And then over time, I became increasingly interested in kind of that bigger picture about how health care organizations can make an impact, you know, beyond the clinic walls and that curiosity led me into recruitment, where I still have the opportunity to help people find their place in health care.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: When my husband and I though when we moved to Chicago, I joined duly health and care very quickly after.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it's been a really incredible journey ever since that given me the opportunity to blend my clinical background with the same spirit of, you know, service and now through community engagement and philanthropy.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: I get to lead the duly health and care terrible fund our volunteer program and both of which are centered around improving access to health care housing and food across the communities that we serve here in Chicago land.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: that's amazing.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like you've truly found your purpose Dustin.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: I have found my purpose and I am thriving in it every day.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's wonderful.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: The duly charitable fun in your volunteer initiatives really represent what we call responsible influence in the
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: What inspired the creation and growth of these programs and how would the shape do these internal culture and connection to the community?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's our physicians and our past senior leaders that really sparked the inspiration.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then our current leadership has continued to carry that mission forward.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: The mission really has empowered duly team members.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: And as you mentioned, we call them duly gooders here with the opportunity to give back to our neighbors in need beyond our clinic walls.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: And Julie has always believed that health care extends far beyond the medical care.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's really about helping people live healthier and more fulfilling lives.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: With the charitable fund, when that was created, it was really to bring that belief to life through community partnerships and getting.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: And then our volunteer program naturally grew out of the same kind of mission with that.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: What's been incredible really to see is how these efforts have strengthened both our reputation and the community as well as our internal culture as you mentioned.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: There's just really such a strong sense of pride and unity when team members come together and serve.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: What I would say is it's really deep in our connection to the community and it really reminds all of us what what we do every day truly does make a difference in the lives of others.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's amazing.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Can you tell us about a moment or experience where you thought you made a positive impact, whether personally or bro leading the duly gooders, what made that experience so meaningful to you.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I will give you one recent example that kind of stands out and you mentioned this in my introduction is our annual week of service earlier this year.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, over 230 of our team members and that, you know, they, some of them brought along their friends and families.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: They volunteered across multiple communities and community partners contributing, as you mentioned, more than 600 hours of service and just one week.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I had the chance to join nearly all of the volunteer groups at some point during the week.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by so many compassionate people here at Dually, who genuinely care about the wellbeing of our neighbors who are in need.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's also really heartwarming to see how many caring, dedicated individuals are a part of the Dually family.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we talk a lot on daily influence about the power of collective influence and how working together amplifies impact.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: How do you foster collaboration between Dulee volunteers, local nonprofits, and partners to make sure your efforts go even further?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: You know, partnership is really the core of everything we do.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: We make it a priority to work closely with our local nonprofit partners to understand that, you know, their trunings and identify where we can make them most meaningful impact.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: Really, the collaboration helps us ensure our volunteer projects and grants.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: really make a difference in the lives of those community members.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: Internally we encourage cross department participation so that everyone from our physician team members to our administrative staff really fills a sense of ownership in our community efforts and then externally we focus on building the long-term relationships with our non-profits and for the non-profit partners that we have.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: So we're not just showing up once a year, but we're walking alongside them as they really create lasting change.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, since launching your volunteer initiatives, participation has grown significantly.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: What strategies or leadership principles have helped you grow and sustain that engagement?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: And how do you measure success beyond the hours or numbers?
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I would say the growth has really come from building a sense of purpose and belonging here at duly.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: that matters.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: And when when when you make it easy and accessible and fun to get involved, you know, that momentum really just builds pretty naturally.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: We also highlight stories from our volunteers and community partners so people can see the tangible impact of their time and effort.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: And really beyond ours, we measure success through relationships, how our partnerships strengthen over time, how our team culture evolves, and how people feel more connected to do this mission because of their involvement in the volunteerism.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for sharing that hot topic today as AI.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Are you using AI or other technology to support the charitable fund or enhance your volunteer program?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, at this time, we're not using AI and our charitable fund or volunteer programs, but that doesn't mean that we wouldn't consider it in the future.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: We really just want to be strategic and how we approach AI really since it's still in its early stages.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: Our focus right now is understanding where technology can genuinely help us more work more efficiently, whether that's through tracking, volunteering engagement, string lining communication, or enhancing
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: we're open to exploring AI and how it might support our work down the line, but any adoption would be thoughtful, intentional, ensuring it truly adds value without taking away from that human connection at the heart of really what we do.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, with someone who leads with service and purpose, what message or words being encouragement, when you share with our listeners who want to make a positive difference in their own communities or workplaces, I would say start small.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's what we did.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: It really is all about just starting somewhere.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to launch a huge initiative to make an impact.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes it begins with just a simple act of kindness or volunteering for a few hours.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: The key is consistency and connection to be honest and when you lead with empathy and purpose others notice that and then that ripple effect can turn individual efforts into collective change.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: One thing I'd say is that doing good is contagious so once you start it inspires others to follow.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: So once you start getting ready because I think that that that ripple effect will definitely happen.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's about showing up and serving others and creating ripple effects for the good.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: Dustin, if our listeners want to get in touch with you, what's the best way to do so.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you can email me asking any questions.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: My email is Dustin dot Wilson at duly dot com.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: But would love to hear any thoughts, any ideas that people have if people are intrigued and would like to learn more.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be happy to kind of talk through where we began and how we got here.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, would love to hear and learn more about any about anybody else out in the community.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: All right, well, we'll put this information in the show notes, Dustin.

- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: It was great.

- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: So thank you.
