The Lawn Sign Blues · Vinnie Penn Poemcast

The lawn sign came yesterday. Another chapter has had it say it reads BHS
• 0:07
class of twenty twenty four. In a few weeks, high school is no
• 0:12
more, and we pose for the pictures after jutting it into the ground.
• 0:17
Smile the strangest of smiles as we all three gather around. The pickups and
• 0:23
drop offs were plentiful, constant enough for the occasional airful, but little by
• 0:29
little need dissipates. The thing about time is it never waits. The lawn
• 0:35
sign mocked me as the sun came up long time coming, but still feels
• 0:40
so abrupt. It reads BHS class of twenty twenty four. I don't have
• 0:48
  high schoolers anymore.
