- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. It's Thursday.
- 0:14It's the 10th of April and the 10th of April.
- 0:18Did you know is National Hug your Dog Day?
- 0:23That's right, it's, it's a day about our furry friends.
- 0:26If you've got a dog and you sometimes hug it, today is
- 0:30definitely a day that you need to give your dog a hug.
- 0:32And if you are a dog hugger, usually, well, extra cuddles for
- 0:35you, for your furry mate. Today, if you don't have a dog,
- 0:39please don't go up to some rando dog on the street and give it a
- 0:42hug because that could end very badly and I would not want to be
- 0:44responsible for anyone's ear getting lopped off.
- 0:47Ah yes, even when their breath isn't amazing.
- 0:50Yeah, we do love them. We do love them.
- 0:52Thank you Lord, for our dogs. They are beautiful things who
- 0:55give us just a taste of that unconditional love that you give
- 1:00us. But today, today's all about
- 1:03unconditional love. Today we are going back up into
- 1:07that upper room to hear more of what Jesus is going to share
- 1:11with his disciples as He tells them all about this coming
- 1:14Helper who is going to come to be with them and to be with you
- 1:19and me, friends. So let's read together John
- 1:22chapter 14. Don't let your hearts be
- 1:35troubled. Trust in God and trust also in
- 1:38me. There is more than enough room
- 1:41in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I've
- 1:45told you that I'm going to prepare a place for you.
- 1:48When everything is ready, I will come and get you so that you
- 1:52will always be with me where I am and you know the way to where
- 1:57I'm going. No, we don't know, Lord, Thomas
- 2:01said. We have no idea where you are
- 2:02going. So how can we know the way Jesus
- 2:05told him I am, the way, the truth and the life.
- 2:11No one can come to the Father except through me.
- 2:15If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is from
- 2:20now on. You do know him and have seen
- 2:24him, Philip said. Lord, show us the Father and we
- 2:29will be satisfied. Jesus replied.
- 2:33Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still
- 2:37don't know who I am. Anyone who has seen me has seen
- 2:41the Father, so why are you asking me to show him to you?
- 2:45Don't you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in
- 2:49me? The words I speak are not my
- 2:52own, but my Father who lives in me, does his work through me.
- 2:57Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
- 3:02or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.
- 3:06I tell you the truth. Anyone who believes in me will
- 3:10do the same works I have done and even greater works because
- 3:14I'm going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my
- 3:19name, and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the
- 3:23Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my
- 3:26name and I will do it. If you love me, obey my
- 3:31commandments and I will ask the Father and He will give you
- 3:35another advocate who will never leave you.
- 3:39He is the Holy Spirit who leads into all truth.
- 3:45The world cannot receive him because it isn't looking for Him
- 3:48and doesn't recognise him. But you know him because He
- 3:53lives with you now and later will be in you.
- 3:57No, I will not abandon you as orphans.
- 4:00I will come to you soon. The world will no longer see me,
- 4:05but you will see me. Since I live, You also will
- 4:09live. When I am raised to life again,
- 4:13you will know that I am in my Father and You are in me, and I
- 4:17am in You. Those who accept my commandments
- 4:21and obey them are the ones who love me, and because they love
- 4:25me, my Father will love them and I will love them and reveal
- 4:30myself to each of them. Judas.
- 4:35Not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name
- 4:38said to him. Lord, why are you going to
- 4:41reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?
- 4:46Jesus replied. All who love me will do what I
- 4:50say, My Father will love them, and we will come and make our
- 4:54home in each of them. Anyone who doesn't love me will
- 4:59not obey me. And remember, my words are not
- 5:02my own. What I'm telling you is from the
- 5:05Father who sent me. I'm telling you these things now
- 5:08while I'm still with you, but when the Father sends the
- 5:12Advocate as my representative, that is the Holy Spirit.
- 5:16He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I
- 5:20have told you. I'm leaving you with a gift,
- 5:24Peace of Mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift
- 5:29the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid.
- 5:34Remember what I told you. I'm going away, but I will come
- 5:38back to you again. If you really loved me, you
- 5:42would be happy that I'm going to the Father who is greater than I
- 5:46am. I've told you these things
- 5:48before they happen so that when they do happen, you will
- 5:52believe. I don't have much more time to
- 5:56talk to you because the ruler of this world approaches.
- 6:00He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires
- 6:04of me so that the world will know that I love the Father.
- 6:09Come, let's be going. Oh Jesus, what a gracious and
- 6:24generous God you are. Thank you for giving us your
- 6:28spirit. Thank you that in this real way,
- 6:32you live here within us. And right now, as we pray this
- 6:36prayer, you are resident right here in our hearts, and you hear
- 6:40us and you respond to us. And Lord, thank you for this
- 6:46beautiful picture that you paint as you speak about your Father's
- 6:49house, and that you have gone there to make a place specially
- 6:55for each one of us, so that we will be able to be with you
- 7:00where you are, not just for a chapter for a time, but for
- 7:06eternity. Ah, that special grace and
- 7:11lavish love that you just so freely give us truly is a game
- 7:16changer. Thank you Jesus, thank you for
- 7:21calling us to be your disciples, for giving us faith in our
- 7:24hearts and hope always in you. May we always cling tightly to
- 7:30that as our firm foundation and our glorious hope.
- 7:36And we pray all of this in your saving name, Jesus, Amen.
