- 0:06Eight fifty two thirteen ten WIBA, and we are one week away from the
- 0:13greatest state fair there is in the world. The Wisconsin State Fair kicks off
- 0:17August third, runs through the thirteenth at State Fair Park in West Alice,
- 0:22right off the interstate, just down the road a bit. It's a fantastic
- 0:26event. A lot of great stuff going on this year with the State Fair.
- 0:30And joining us from the State Fair is Jen Plenta. Jen, welcome
- 0:34back the program. Exciting times. I know probably for you guys. Behind
- 0:38the scenes, there's a lot of work going on. But as we kind
- 0:41of go through, of course the State Fair, there's kind of the big
- 0:44things the of course, agriculture and the exhibits, entertainment, food, food
- 0:49and what else we're thinking about there, Oh, the rides as well.
- 0:52Let's start off talking about um. First off, welcome back to the show.
- 0:55Jen. Let's talk about some of the agriculture and really at the at
- 0:58the heart of any fair, whether the county fair or the state fair.
- 1:00In this case, agriculture, especially here in Wisconsin, is vital to the
- 1:06event, isn't it. You are correct, and I will have to say
- 1:10your intro gave me chills. One week out. I can't even believe it.
- 1:15I got so excited. I was like, let's start the fair now,
- 1:19but but we need a week. We got a week to go hear
- 1:22people. But you're right. Agriculture is a cornerstone of what fairs are built
- 1:26on, and that's what makes us different than a lot of other events.
- 1:29And we're so proud to welcome all of these amazing young agriculturalists from all over
- 1:34the state of Wisconsin to showcase our animals. Over seven thousand animals we'll see
- 1:38during the eleven days of the Wisconsin State Fair. And it is honestly my
- 1:42favorite when you go through the barns and ask these kids about their projects,
- 1:47and you would think you were talking to this young adult professional who's maybe twelve
- 1:53that will go on and on and on about you know, how their animal
- 1:56was raised, what they feed them, what time they get up in the
- 1:57morning. And it really is a true joy that a lot of people forget
- 2:01to stop and talk to these kids. So if you've never done that,
- 2:05I highly recommend you do that. Whether it's at the County Care of the
- 2:07Statecare. It really is a very very unique piece of what we do.
- 2:12It is amazing it's it's great too to walk through see the animals you mentioned,
- 2:15chat with the kids who have put a lot of work into raising these
- 2:19animals. I also love watching the judging and that as well. It's really
- 2:22great to show the support and again that all taking place at the Wisconsin State
- 2:25Fair August third through the thirteenth, one week away at State Fair Park.
- 2:30And of course we've talked in the past about about the sporties, which is
- 2:35a great, great thing that you guys do a competition with the food,
- 2:38but you guys have up the game a bit and said, you know,
- 2:42what about drinks? What about beverages? Are you guys? Did I see
- 2:44that right? You're doing drinkies this year as well? That is correct,
- 2:47we have introduced the drinkies competition, but untrue to Wisconsin fashion, they are
- 2:53actually non alcoholic beverages because we really are a family friendly event here in Wisconsin
- 3:00and a lot of people have chosen to live a sober lifestyle and we want
- 3:02to make sure that we're giving them options as well. So we've got everything
- 3:06from the Ferrest Mule, which is a great knockoff of our Mule beverage,
- 3:10the Cotton Candy lemonade, which I'm really excited to try. So we'll be
- 3:15announcing the Sporty Friskies winners on August first, so just before the ferrist to
- 3:21make sure you stay and tuned to our socials at WI State Fair for all
- 3:24those announcements. But I know I'm getting really excited about those, and you
- 3:30know the sportis But you know, if you don't like all the while and
- 3:32crazy foods, we do have one hundred and five new foods. Well,
- 3:37you have nothing to do. Betweet now in August third, Wi state Fair
- 3:42dot com. We have a list that you can go in and peruse and
- 3:45plan your trip out. We also have great planning tools, ways you can
- 3:49get deals, discounts, ways to save and plan your day. There's eleven
- 3:53days of astouns and State Fair. We realize people can only maybe come for
- 3:57a day, but we want you to make the best of your data.
- 4:00You can come on out to the fair and Jen, as we talked to
- 4:01about food, there's of course the staples that you know we always think of
- 4:04cheese kurds and of course the original creampuff as well available at State Fair for
- 4:09sure. That's right, you know the State Fair in the creampuff are synonymous.
- 4:14This is the ninety nine year of the Creampuffs. Not that we're counting
- 4:16or anything, but the creampuff, I don't know. There's just something about
- 4:20it. Everyone says, oh, you work at State Fair, you must
- 4:23love the creampuff. You know what. I love my creampuff once a year
- 4:27because it's there's something about that cold, delicious whipped cream on a hot day
- 4:31that just is amazing. It is and it's again as you mentioned, of
- 4:36course, you guys got a lot of stuff going on on social the website
- 4:40Wi state Fair dot com. That's Wi state Fair dot com. Before we
- 4:45wrap up this morning, Jen, of course, there's all sorts of entertainment.
- 4:48Of course, you got the midway, but you've also got a bunch
- 4:51of stages, specifically the main stage. You've got some you've got some great
- 4:56musical acts as well as I did I see Jeff Dunham also is going to
- 4:59be on the main stage this year. That is correct, Jeff Denham's coming
- 5:03back. We kick off the fair with Alabama. We're also bringing in Lindsay
- 5:08Stirling, which is a electric violinist who's going to put on an amazing show.
- 5:13We've got some nineties hip hop, which I'm personally very excited about.
- 5:16We bring in for King and Country. We've got everything across the board.
- 5:20We've got Ario speedwagons. We really do have something for everyone. Now,
- 5:25make sure if you are buying concert tickets, you do buy them from State
- 5:28Fair our website, because these concert tickets shouldn't cost you more than fifty sixty
- 5:32bucks and they do include your fair admission when you buy them prior to the
- 5:36fair so or prior to the show date. So that's really important to remember
- 5:41because there's lots of people out there trying to make a buck on these really
- 5:44affordable concert tickets that we try to provide to everyone, because we're not trying
- 5:47to make a ton of money here, but we want to make sure that
- 5:50we provide this great, affordable experience and it always is a great experience,
