- 0:40Speaker 1: I're glad to have you with us here on a Tuesday.
- 0:42Speaker 5: This portuate of the program is brought to you by
- 0:45Speaker 5: Radiance Dentistry.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Coming up, we're going to hear from offensive coordinator Colin Klein.
- 0:50Speaker 4: We've got a high school report.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The hero of Game three Last Night World Series, Freddie Freeman,
- 0:59Speaker 1: well besides showy Otani and which by my math, reached
- 1:06Speaker 1: base all nine times in eighteen innings, two home runs,
- 1:12Speaker 1: two doubles, and after two home runs and two doubles,
- 1:16Speaker 1: Toronto said, why don't we walk this guy? So they
- 1:20Speaker 1: did five times. He may not get to swing the
- 1:25Speaker 1: bat again, which I wouldn't let him do, depending on
- 1:30Speaker 1: some very weird situation in the game, but I would
- 1:32Speaker 1: not let him swing the bat.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Only four of those were intentional.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Oh that's right.
- 1:39Speaker 1: The fifth was kind of an unintentional intentional walk. But
- 1:44Speaker 1: still toronto Is finally said, when asked succinctly, are you
- 1:50Speaker 1: going to walk him the rest of the way? The
- 1:53Speaker 1: answer was yeah, I mean too late. Two late, Schneider.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I mean they come out in the seventh and the
- 2:08Speaker 1: pitching coach comes out before Otani steps to the plate
- 2:11Speaker 1: in a one run game, and I know the pitching
- 2:14Speaker 1: coach says, look, everything has to be to the outside.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You cannot give him anything to hit first pitch down
- 2:23Speaker 1: the middle four hundred and five feet. That's not what
- 2:27Speaker 1: they had in mind when they had that conversation. Dodgers
- 2:31Speaker 1: win six to five on a Freddie Freeman home run
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the eighteenth inning, and I gotta tell you, no,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I did not. After Otani hit the home run to
- 2:40Speaker 1: tie it up at five, I went to bed.
- 2:42Speaker 4: But here's the deal.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You seldom get a series like on this stage like
- 2:50Speaker 1: this where both team superstars are doing incredible things and
- 2:57Speaker 1: Flad Junior and Otani are putting on a show. I
- 3:02Speaker 1: just got to tell you if you care about Major
- 3:05Speaker 1: League Baseball. I I know it's Toronto and the Dodgers,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but you need to watch this because you just don't
- 3:13Speaker 1: see this very often when the two guys who get
- 3:17Speaker 1: you there are also like prime time performers. I mean,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Carrero put on a show last night in the field,
- 3:28Speaker 1: on the bases, at the plate, he did everything he could.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But anyway, I'm just saying you might want to watch,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and I'll be watching that first at bat for Otani
- 3:45Speaker 1: in the bottom of the first today. Do you just
- 3:50Speaker 1: say four? Yes, you say four? You put him on base, period,
- 3:57Speaker 1: bases loaded, walk him like they did with Barry Bonds, Right,
- 4:03Speaker 1: So you're giving up one run, You're not giving up
- 4:05Speaker 1: four runs. So yeah, bases loaded, you walk in very easy.
- 4:12Speaker 4: It's not it's not rocket brain surgery.
- 4:19Speaker 1: The SEC is a s the nc double A to
- 4:21Speaker 1: rescind a pending rule change will allow athletes to gamble.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Greg Sanke sent a letter to NCUBA President Charlie Baker
- 4:30Speaker 1: stating that the conference meeting the message of our presidents
- 4:34Speaker 1: and chancellors was clear and united. This policy change represents
- 4:37Speaker 1: a major step in the wrong direction. You'd think, I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 1: the NCUBLEA can't do anything right. So head coaches right
- 4:50Speaker 1: now in college football are owed one hundred and sixty
- 4:53Speaker 1: seven point seven million dollars. As we say around here
- 4:56Speaker 1: at Texas A and M, that's chump change. Twenty one
- 5:00Speaker 1: million for Napier, fifteen million for Gundy, nine point eight
- 5:05Speaker 1: million for Sam Pittman, six million for Brent Frytt Virginia Tech,
- 5:09Speaker 1: five million for Desjon Foster at UCLA, four million for
- 5:13Speaker 1: Trent Bray at Oregon State, two point four million for
- 5:17Speaker 1: Trent Dilfer at UAB, one and a half million for
- 5:21Speaker 1: Jay Norville at Colorado State. Kelly's buyout, still being negotiated,
- 5:28Speaker 1: was thought to be fifty four million, and that would
- 5:36Speaker 1: be the one hundred and sixty seven million that's also
- 5:40Speaker 1: chump change for Scott Wood. I'm just saying, I mean,
- 5:44Speaker 1: that's that's play money. Drew Mestemaker is the Earl Campbell
- 5:52Speaker 1: Tyler Rose National Player of the Week. The North Texas
- 5:55Speaker 1: quarterback threw for over six hundred yards and four touchdowns
- 6:00Speaker 1: last week and North Texas win over Charlotte, Arizona State's
- 6:06Speaker 1: hope of winning back to back Big Twelve titles took
- 6:09Speaker 1: a hit and Sam Loved. Their quarterback got banged up again.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Sam got retweaked there at the end, says coach Kenny Dillingham.
- 6:23Speaker 1: He wanted to go right back in. I said, no,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you've got to get imaging. We held him out. Jeff
- 6:30Speaker 1: Simms came in for Lovett. He's not nearly as good.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Arizona State has to go to Iowa State this week.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin's name keeps coming up, and Kiffin says, I've
- 6:49Speaker 1: never made a decision based off money, nor will I
- 6:53Speaker 1: for people that say you're just like, well, money it
- 6:56Speaker 1: does this and does that. I've seen too many examples.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Jimmy Sex and my agent gets really mad when I
- 7:02Speaker 1: say that. He's like, we got to get this, we
- 7:04Speaker 1: got to get this.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I'm like, Jimmy, I don't care. We'll see.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin's name is up for every job, and the
- 7:14Speaker 1: only soccer coach A and M has ever had announced
- 7:21Speaker 1: his quote retirement today after thirty three years. G Gerreri
- 7:25Speaker 1: won five hundred and twenty three wins.
- 7:29Speaker 4: That's fifth all time.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Had an incredible run here at Texas A and M
- 7:36Speaker 1: of course all the requisite statements wishing him well. Turned
- 7:40Speaker 1: out his contract was over this year. They did not
- 7:46Speaker 1: make the SEC Tournament, but this run has been exceptional
- 7:55Speaker 1: and we wish coach g the very best going forward. Tomorrow,
- 8:03Speaker 1: Scott Clinton and will join us. We'll have our Clark
- 8:05Speaker 1: Eisenhower Outdoor edition on Thursday. On Friday, our usual cast
- 8:10Speaker 1: of characters with Kurt Bowles and Tony Katalina.
- 8:14Speaker 4: We've got much to talk about with both of them.
- 8:18Speaker 1: We have a high school report coming up again, We're
- 8:22Speaker 1: going to hear from Freddie Freeman in the second hour.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm going to be visiting with author Paul Myers. His
- 8:32Speaker 1: book is called John Candy, A Life in Comedy. It's exceptional.
- 8:37Speaker 1: We will visit with him. Coming up in the second
- 8:40Speaker 1: hour of the show. Final Out is brought to you
- 8:43Speaker 1: by Chad Jones Law.
- 8:45Speaker 7: You know, speaking about MARSA.
- 8:48Speaker 8: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 8:51Speaker 8: do injuries from car rex. But you didn't sign up
- 8:53Speaker 8: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't

- 9:20Speaker 2: NASCAR Exfinity Series race recap from Martinsville Speedway. I'm Kerrie Murphy.
- 9:24Speaker 2: He led fifty two laps on the day to pick
- 9:26Speaker 2: up career victory number one. His name Tyler Gray.
- 9:30Speaker 9: Honest to executing restarts separated is what separated me from
- 9:34Speaker 9: the spring race. So I feel like I executed all
- 9:36Speaker 9: my restarts in the spring race, and the last one
- 9:39Speaker 9: I let the jump with me and let him be
- 9:42Speaker 9: in striking zone of me and getting into one. That's
- 9:44Speaker 9: what lost me in a lead. And then the caution
- 9:47Speaker 9: came out and obviously we react him and I did
- 9:50Speaker 9: the same thing to him. And you know, at that point,
- 9:52Speaker 9: I don't know what I do different to now get wreck.
- 9:54Speaker 9: Maybe you know little things that I've looked at But yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 9: I mean, I don't know. I think the biggest thing
- 10:00Speaker 9: tonight was just not letting anyone in striking distance getting
- 10:04Speaker 9: in their one. I think it's a combination of two things.
- 10:08Speaker 9: I think it's redemption and I also think it's a.
- 10:11Speaker 10: Group of things.
- 10:12Speaker 9: I've learned from the two races I've lost here and
- 10:15Speaker 9: made sure I didn't lose another one.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Sammy Smith was second, followed by Brandon Jones, Sheldon Creed,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and Eric Almerolo rounds out the top five. Eliminated our

- 11:51Speaker 12: Tuesdays and Thursdays at four third Ships Good Ships Chip
- 11:54Speaker 12: how exports.
- 11:54Speaker 11: Shove back.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Smacking the boys on a Tuesday afternoon. Thanks for being
- 13:27Speaker 1: with us. Glad to have you in on this Tuesday edition.
- 13:32Speaker 1: We've got stuff. We have stuff every day. I'd be
- 13:38Speaker 1: the first admit some days are better than others. I
- 13:41Speaker 1: think it's a decent day where Colin Klein spent time
- 13:46Speaker 1: with the media yesterday along with defensive coordinator Jay Bateman,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and we'll see how time.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Does for us. We may hear a.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Little from Jay Bateman in the second an hour of
- 14:00Speaker 1: the program, depending on how our schedule works out with
- 14:04Speaker 1: Paul Myers and his book on John Candy. I printed
- 14:11Speaker 1: out n CUBLEA stats today, which I haven't done in
- 14:15Speaker 1: a while, and I'm looking at third down conversion defense.
- 14:24Speaker 1: A and M is second in the country in that.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Let's see, there's just there's so many stats to go through.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Let's see. I don't care about the penalty yardage. A
- 14:50Speaker 1: and M seventeenth in first down offense, they are number
- 14:55Speaker 1: one in the country. And fumbles lost. You know why,
- 15:01Speaker 1: because they've lost As far as I can tell, they've
- 15:06Speaker 1: lost zero fumbles. Is that right? There's a value on here.
- 15:11Speaker 1: It says zero. Texas is fourth they've lost one fumble.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Miami and Virginia are the other two teams that have
- 15:24Speaker 1: not lost a fumble yet. We were talking about this
- 15:26Speaker 1: yesterday on the Writers round Table, and I guess I
- 15:30Speaker 1: just didn't realize that. I mean, there's been interceptions, right,
- 15:40Speaker 1: So let's see, I don't care about that. Passing yards allowed,
- 15:48Speaker 1: passing passing yards per completion. A and M is seventh
- 15:53Speaker 1: in the country. There's second in the SEC behind Ole
- 15:57Speaker 1: miss punt returns. You know, A and M is up
- 16:01Speaker 1: there in pump returns because of concepcion their fourth nationally.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Texas is second nationally. Iowa Iowa is number one nationally.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Red zone offense. A and M is sixteenth in the nation,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but they're just fifth in the league. A and Oklahoma
- 16:25Speaker 1: is number one in red zone offense. That's going to change,
- 16:29Speaker 1: by the way.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Aggie's are twenty sixth nationally in rushing offense at two
- 16:40Speaker 1: hundred yards per game. That is fourth in the league
- 16:44Speaker 1: behind Missouri, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt. Anima is twelfth and tied
- 16:52Speaker 1: for Vanderbilt for number one in the SEC for sacks allowed.
- 16:57Speaker 1: They have allowed only twelve sacks. Let's see scoring offense.
- 17:08Speaker 1: A and M is fourteenth nationally, third in the league.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I don't think I would ever guess this. Frankly, Tennessee
- 17:18Speaker 1: is seconds. That's easy. They're averaging over forty five a game.
- 17:22Speaker 1: You know who's number two in the SEC and scoring offense?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Who would you say would be number two in the
- 17:28Speaker 1: scoring offense? Two teams would come to mind immediately, Not
- 17:32Speaker 1: be Ole Miss in Arkansas, I would be wrong.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt is averaging thirty eight point four points per game.
- 17:44Speaker 4: How about that?
- 17:45Speaker 1: Well, they did score seventy on Georgia State. That may
- 17:50Speaker 1: skew a little bit, but still it's the doors man. Okay,
- 17:56Speaker 1: we're gonna hear from Colin Kleine a little bit.
- 17:59Speaker 4: I say a little bit part of what he had
- 18:01Speaker 4: to say yesterday, you.
- 18:02Speaker 13: Know, speaking about Marcella Reid and just his development.
- 18:06Speaker 1: How how important has that been and for you guys
- 18:09Speaker 1: to be able to be so multiple in your attack,
- 18:10Speaker 1: just the way he's been able to progress this season.
- 18:13Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 10: No, I've been really proud of him and even these
- 18:17Speaker 10: last you know, three four five weeks that he's kind
- 18:20Speaker 10: of put together and really grown in a lot of areas.
- 18:22Speaker 10: I think you know we've been and will be a
- 18:26Speaker 10: very very multiple based offense to where we put a
- 18:30Speaker 10: lot on his plate and have from the jump, and
- 18:33Speaker 10: I think he's he's been managing it really well. I
- 18:36Speaker 10: think our efficiency has increased the last few weeks, and
- 18:42Speaker 10: in large part because of his ability to get through progressions,
- 18:46Speaker 10: check down the football, be really decisive when okay, hey
- 18:49Speaker 10: it's time to pull the ball down and run and
- 18:52Speaker 10: doing so in a very very aggressive, assertive, timely manner
- 18:55Speaker 10: and has kept us in much much better positions on
- 18:59Speaker 10: third has created obviously a ton of explosive plays with
- 19:04Speaker 10: him running the football and scrambles as well, and so
- 19:07Speaker 10: it really really helps me as a play caller, obviously
- 19:10Speaker 10: when you're staying in those manageable situations, when you're getting
- 19:12Speaker 10: those explosive plays to to be able to continue to
- 19:15Speaker 10: try to call the game aggressively.
- 19:17Speaker 7: So and that's that's a credit to him. Coach.
- 19:19Speaker 15: We'll go to the right second row.
- 19:21Speaker 13: Olin ye're calling.
- 19:23Speaker 6: You know about thirteen years ago this time you were
- 19:24Speaker 6: a heismotrophy candidate, about thirty pounds ago to Yeah, So
- 19:32Speaker 6: having an experience that do you look at how much
- 19:36Speaker 6: do you look at Marcel as being a Heisman candidate
- 19:38Speaker 6: now and what do you think, you know, where do
- 19:41Speaker 6: you think that's going to go from here?
- 19:43Speaker 10: Well, I think first and foremost that it is a
- 19:46Speaker 10: team award. You're not even in that conversation unless you're
- 19:50Speaker 10: you're winning football games and winning big football games. And
- 19:54Speaker 10: that's a complete team deal, right in credit to everyone
- 19:58Speaker 10: on on the offensive side of the ball for making
- 20:02Speaker 10: it all happen around him, right, And uh, he knows
- 20:05Speaker 10: that and has grown and as a tremendous leader, you know,
- 20:09Speaker 10: through every position group in that way, you know. And
- 20:13Speaker 10: the other part is too, is there's still a lot
- 20:15Speaker 10: of season left, right, and we've got to really keep
- 20:17Speaker 10: our our our head, our heads down and and and
- 20:20Speaker 10: be very very process driven, which he has been and
- 20:23Speaker 10: we've been able to do, uh, you know, down the
- 20:25Speaker 10: stretch here absolutely.
- 20:28Speaker 15: Coach to the left third row.
- 20:32Speaker 7: We've seen you guys.
- 20:33Speaker 9: We've seen you guys kind of get creative in short
- 20:36Speaker 9: yarded situations with the T formation and stuff. What kind
- 20:39Speaker 9: of advantage is going under center give you kind of
- 20:40Speaker 9: schematically in that aspect?
- 20:43Speaker 10: You know, It's that that's an interesting question because there's
- 20:46Speaker 10: times obviously at times we're able to get it in
- 20:50Speaker 10: the ballcarrier's hands, not at a at a shotgun type depth.
- 20:54Speaker 10: But there's also times that when you do have a
- 20:56Speaker 10: dual threat quarterback that it can hurt you because you
- 21:00Speaker 10: can't control an extra defender in whatever type of red
- 21:03Speaker 10: game or scheme that you're running.
- 21:05Speaker 7: And so it's it's it's been good for us.
- 21:09Speaker 10: We have some wrinkles out of it, you know, have
- 21:12Speaker 10: some more in in the hop are ready to go,
- 21:14Speaker 10: but at the end of the day, it's a little
- 21:16Speaker 10: bit based on whatever short yardage package that we're going
- 21:19Speaker 10: against that week.
- 21:22Speaker 16: To the right, Carter, what's maybe impressed you the most
- 21:27Speaker 16: about the offensive line this season?
- 21:30Speaker 10: Well, I think first first of all, just their mentality
- 21:33Speaker 10: and approach from the get go has been outstanding. I mean,
- 21:37Speaker 10: they come to work every day, they're prepared, they have
- 21:39Speaker 10: great energy. You know, obviously two of our captains are
- 21:43Speaker 10: out of that unit and do a great job that
- 21:45Speaker 10: way for our team and obviously our offense. You know,
- 21:49Speaker 10: Coach Kushing does a great job with those guys, and
- 21:51Speaker 10: we're able to put a very very big run game
- 21:55Speaker 10: package on the field every week, right, And you can't
- 21:58Speaker 10: do that if if they're not very very intelligent football players.
- 22:03Speaker 10: They work at it and they're prepared in this league
- 22:06Speaker 10: with with all the different things that we have to face,
- 22:08Speaker 10: and so the way they attack that and allow us
- 22:11Speaker 10: to be able to put a lot of different a
- 22:13Speaker 10: lot of pressure on people in the run game is
- 22:17Speaker 10: is huge. And then you know the way they've pass,
- 22:19Speaker 10: protected and and battled against some of the rushers in
- 22:23Speaker 10: this league.
- 22:23Speaker 7: Like it's it's been really good.
- 22:25Speaker 16: And how have you handled sort of the national outlets
- 22:29Speaker 16: talking about your name as potential head coach UH this
- 22:33Speaker 16: coming off season and and how interested are you in
- 22:37Speaker 16: staying at A and M long term?
- 22:38Speaker 10: Well, I think coach Elko said it best a week
- 22:40Speaker 10: ago or whatever that was. But again, it's it's an
- 22:44Speaker 10: honor and it means you're doing something right. It's credit
- 22:46Speaker 10: to our players and and our entire staff here of
- 22:49Speaker 10: what we've what we've been able to do. And like
- 22:51Speaker 10: I said, there's a lot of season left and and
- 22:53Speaker 10: and a lot of big things ahead of us.
- 22:56Speaker 13: Second row Alex similar to Olin's question, when when you
- 22:59Speaker 13: were in the thick of that as a player going
- 23:01Speaker 13: through that twenty twelve season particular, what's the hardest part
- 23:05Speaker 13: of dealing with the success that comes with being the
- 23:08Speaker 13: quarterback and the leader, and maybe some of the lessons,
- 23:11Speaker 13: encouragement advice that you've imparted to Marcel as you guys
- 23:14Speaker 13: continue to have this strong start to the season.
- 23:16Speaker 10: Yeah, I think a big part of that. And the
- 23:20Speaker 10: best part about that is it's truly where your foundation is,
- 23:24Speaker 10: you know. And I think I was very fortunate going
- 23:28Speaker 10: through it myself with the leaders and the leadership that
- 23:31Speaker 10: I had with Coach Snyder and his staff and my
- 23:35Speaker 10: support system with my parents and family, like to have
- 23:37Speaker 10: the foundation that, hey, it doesn't matter how much a
- 23:41Speaker 10: credit you get positive or you know, hardship negative, you know,
- 23:47Speaker 10: publicity that way, that it's not who you are, it's
- 23:50Speaker 10: not why you do it. And Marcel is very very
- 23:54Speaker 10: blessed in that same way, like his foundation, his core,
- 23:57Speaker 10: his wiring is right, you know. And and he cares about, uh,
- 24:02Speaker 10: his teammates greatly. He cares about doing not just the
- 24:06Speaker 10: right thing, but doing it the right way and all
- 24:09Speaker 10: those things and really just trying to block out the noise.
- 24:12Speaker 7: And and it's a it's a.
- 24:13Speaker 10: One player to time mentality, a one game at a
- 24:15Speaker 10: time mentality, and and you know, the chips will fall
- 24:19Speaker 10: uh where they will.
- 24:21Speaker 13: And then with the offensive line too. Just where have
- 24:23Speaker 13: you seen them improve the most throughout this season in particular?
- 24:27Speaker 10: You know, I think we've been able to uh. I
- 24:30Speaker 10: think our physicality has increased through the course of the season.
- 24:33Speaker 10: You know, you look at uh you know these last
- 24:36Speaker 10: couple of games down the stretch of being able to
- 24:37Speaker 10: really assert ourselves and and grab control of ball games,
- 24:42Speaker 10: you know, and it starts there, you know, And and
- 24:44Speaker 10: with their level of physicality and attack mentality upfront's been
- 24:48Speaker 10: been big time front, right, Travis Colin?
- 24:54Speaker 17: What goes into the what was what was the process
- 24:57Speaker 17: in dusting off the old t formation?
- 25:02Speaker 7: You know, it was.
- 25:05Speaker 10: Had seen it on tape a couple of different ways,
- 25:08Speaker 10: and a couple people have used it in different ways,
- 25:11Speaker 10: and a couple of guys on our staff had some
- 25:12Speaker 10: history with it. And you know, when when they load it,
- 25:16Speaker 10: put a hat in every gap on the inside to
- 25:18Speaker 10: be able to crash down an edge and see if
- 25:20Speaker 10: we can get a crease.
- 25:21Speaker 7: So it's it's been good for us.
- 25:23Speaker 17: And how do you find figure out that that neate's
- 25:25Speaker 17: the best pushion for the person for the fullback?
- 25:27Speaker 10: There Uh, you know, I think a little bit of
- 25:29Speaker 10: it just uh in practicing and working on those things.
- 25:34Speaker 10: He's been pretty natural at it and been really secure
- 25:37Speaker 10: with it through through those exchanges, and uh does a
- 25:40Speaker 10: great job in those same positions and some of the
- 25:43Speaker 10: blocking things that we have out of those sets.
- 25:45Speaker 7: So it was a good fit.
- 25:47Speaker 17: And then looking ahead to your future, whenever an opportunity
- 25:51Speaker 17: rights that makes the most sense, would head coaching be
- 25:54Speaker 17: something that you'd like to get it into down the line.
- 25:57Speaker 7: Absolutely, it's it's been a dream and a goal of mine, but.
- 25:59Speaker 10: It's a out being with the right people at the
- 26:02Speaker 10: right time, and and that's here right now, and again.
- 26:04Speaker 15: A long long way to go all the way in
- 26:06Speaker 15: the back Donna coach after Le'Veon beck here, just how
- 26:14Speaker 15: pleased are you with the way that the rest of.
- 26:16Speaker 3: The running back room has been able to step up?
- 26:18Speaker 15: And it seems like you can kind of call on
- 26:20Speaker 15: a different guy every game and still get the job done.
- 26:22Speaker 10: Well, it's it's it's it's a full stable, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 10: as they call themselves and we call them and so
- 26:29Speaker 10: it's a credit to them, a credit to again just
- 26:34Speaker 10: coach Troop and and and everything that he's done in
- 26:36Speaker 10: that room of those guys competing but helping each other
- 26:41Speaker 10: and supporting each other and carrying the load whenever they're
- 26:44Speaker 10: their numbers called, you know, and and allowing us to
- 26:47Speaker 10: do a lot of a lot of two back stuff
- 26:49Speaker 10: with with two guys out there, you know, grabbing, you know,
- 26:53Speaker 10: in the four minute drill a couple of times in
- 26:54Speaker 10: the last couple of weeks of of being able to
- 26:56Speaker 10: keep us on the field and and some critical times
- 26:58Speaker 10: and uh, you know, reward the work of that offensive
- 27:02Speaker 10: line and tight ends and everybody else blocking for him
- 27:05Speaker 10: to uh to finish, you know. And so it's it's
- 27:08Speaker 10: a it's a great room that every one of them have,
- 27:10Speaker 10: you have, has a little bit of a unique skill set,
- 27:13Speaker 10: but their their mentality is the same.
- 27:15Speaker 13: To the right third row, David Colin, can.
- 27:18Speaker 18: You speak to the emergence of Ashton the last couple
- 27:20Speaker 18: of weeks.
- 27:21Speaker 14: He's making it harder to double those other guys.
- 27:24Speaker 10: Yeah, well, it's it's it's just been a matter of time,
- 27:28Speaker 10: you know, and and we've we've known that, we've seen that.
- 27:31Speaker 7: I mean, so I think.
- 27:33Speaker 10: It's it's been great to see those plays kind of
- 27:36Speaker 10: finally come to fruition for him.
- 27:38Speaker 7: Credit to him. I mean he's he's.
- 27:40Speaker 10: Had as good a week of practice as he's had
- 27:42Speaker 10: the last two to three weeks, you know, And and
- 27:44Speaker 10: his mentality is even even ramped up as as the
- 27:47Speaker 10: season is has progressed, and so being able to get that,
- 27:50Speaker 10: you know, get the ball going his way and has
- 27:53Speaker 10: been really really impressive.
- 27:54Speaker 19: And he's capitalized front left Tony Coach Obviously the screen
- 27:59Speaker 19: game has been a big part are you guys' offense
- 28:00Speaker 19: this year?
- 28:01Speaker 13: And you know it's feel like situationally, they've come at
- 28:04Speaker 13: really good time. So without giving up trade secrets, can
- 28:06Speaker 13: you talk about just know as a play caller when
- 28:09Speaker 13: the feel and the sense for those moments come for you?
- 28:12Speaker 7: Man, I don't know.
- 28:13Speaker 10: I think it is just that it's you know, it's time,
- 28:16Speaker 10: feel field position.
- 28:18Speaker 7: You know.
- 28:18Speaker 10: The other thing it does is it allows us to
- 28:20Speaker 10: distribute the football right and and kind of get some
- 28:24Speaker 10: of those dynamic playmakers in space and get them started.
- 28:27Speaker 10: And you know it's it's uh, all the fancy lines
- 28:32Speaker 10: go for not and unless guys execute and and and
- 28:35Speaker 10: they've done a great job of getting in front of
- 28:37Speaker 10: guys and blocking and giving us some explosives in that screen.
- 28:40Speaker 15: Game coach will stay to the left, Rob had a coach.
- 28:45Speaker 20: So as the season has progressed and you know with
- 28:48Speaker 20: this talent that that's come in, does that help open
- 28:52Speaker 20: up the playbook for you as you coach?
- 28:55Speaker 7: Elco mentioned you know when E. J.
- 28:57Speaker 20: Smith goes out there and he produces, then he is
- 29:00Speaker 20: going to get more touches. And do you kind of
- 29:02Speaker 20: feel that way with everyone that that as as their
- 29:06Speaker 20: continue to produce that it allows you to open up
- 29:08Speaker 20: the playbook and as a bye week at a time
- 29:11Speaker 20: that you can kind of maybe add something to the playbook.
- 29:16Speaker 10: Well, I think it's something that we from a playbook standpoint,
- 29:20Speaker 10: it's and and how I've always done it, and I
- 29:22Speaker 10: think is is just a really good way to do it.
- 29:24Speaker 10: Is it's it's it's building the the puzzle based on
- 29:28Speaker 10: what you're going against that week. So it's not like, hey,
- 29:30Speaker 10: we're going to ever run these these plays or that
- 29:32Speaker 10: like we have to build it to help exploit a
- 29:36Speaker 10: weakness or a matchup or something that we see that
- 29:39Speaker 10: given week.
- 29:40Speaker 1: That's Colin Klein and as we talked about yesterday with
- 29:45Speaker 1: the writers, he is going to be a head coach
- 29:50Speaker 1: and maybe maybe soon I don't know, but.
- 29:56Speaker 4: He's on his way to doing that.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And there's gonna be lots of jobs open this year,
- 30:05Speaker 1: more than there are right now for sure.
- 30:09Speaker 4: So it'll be interesting.
- 30:11Speaker 1: If if he gets looks and from whom, as we mentioned,
- 30:19Speaker 1: program like LSU, a program like Florida's, they're not going
- 30:23Speaker 1: to take a chance on an assistant coach.
- 30:25Speaker 4: I mean that the odds of that are long. But
- 30:30Speaker 4: there are other.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Opportunities out there, and you've got to be And that's
- 30:35Speaker 1: the other thing. I mean, it's so much of its timing,
- 30:38Speaker 1: and so much of it is timing when you start
- 30:42Speaker 1: doing that, and you know, what is the job like?
- 30:46Speaker 1: You don't take a job just so you can be
- 30:48Speaker 1: a head coach anymore. He's got the luxury I think,
- 30:51Speaker 1: of picking a job that he thinks, you know, can
- 30:57Speaker 1: can work with an adminised with the commitment. Sef Check

- 33:21Speaker 24: Welcome to the high School Report. I met Williams and
- 33:23Speaker 24: today we're going out to the Hilaris Fund Center front
- 33:25Speaker 24: line to visit with the head football coach for the
- 33:26Speaker 24: Lake Creek Allions, Pat Kennedy. How are you doing today?
- 33:29Speaker 14: We're doing great, We're doing.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Great, awesome.
- 33:32Speaker 24: You took the helm at Lake Creek in twenty eighteen
- 33:34Speaker 24: as the school launched its football program. What was your
- 33:36Speaker 24: initial vision for the program and how is it held
- 33:38Speaker 24: up or of all since then.
- 33:41Speaker 14: I think when we opened the school, what we wanted
- 33:43Speaker 14: to do is have something that was successful and all
- 33:48Speaker 14: facets of athletics as far as all our fours, and
- 33:52Speaker 14: then we wanted to be good in football, right, So
- 33:54Speaker 14: I mean, and since we've opened, I think I think
- 33:58Speaker 14: currently at this time in mcgo County, we're the third
- 34:01Speaker 14: winning this football program. I think the Woodlands and I
- 34:04Speaker 14: think Willis and I are Tide. And then you know,
- 34:06Speaker 14: we have three state championships in softball. We have fifth
- 34:08Speaker 14: round playoff appearances for our baseball team. Our basketball team
- 34:12Speaker 14: appeared in a regional tournament. So I think athletics is
- 34:16Speaker 14: very very important here at Lake Creek High School and
- 34:18Speaker 14: we've had a lot of success.
- 34:20Speaker 24: Having previously been a defensive and special teams coordinator at
- 34:23Speaker 24: the Woodlands High School, how has that experience shaped your
- 34:26Speaker 24: overall approach as a head coach.
- 34:29Speaker 14: Well, I think what it has done when I got here,
- 34:33Speaker 14: you learn to appreciate what you have at the Woodlands.
- 34:37Speaker 14: Have a lot of kids, You have a lot of bodies.
- 34:39Speaker 14: You have a lot of kids that can be your
- 34:41Speaker 14: backups and stuff. And we came to five A. You know,
- 34:43Speaker 14: we started we played our first varsity season in eighteen
- 34:46Speaker 14: without any seniors. What you do is you learn the
- 34:50Speaker 14: appreciation of depth and those sorts of things. You know,
- 34:55Speaker 14: I'm still a We're a little bit more different now.
- 35:00Speaker 14: If you had asked me in twenty seventeen when I
- 35:02Speaker 14: interviewed for the job. Hey, I think you got to
- 35:04Speaker 14: have a staunch defense. You got to be great in
- 35:06Speaker 14: the kicking game, you don't make mistakes, you know, and
- 35:09Speaker 14: be pretty steady heading on offense. We're not that here
- 35:14Speaker 14: at Lake Creek. We throw the ball, we play a
- 35:16Speaker 14: little aggressive defense, and we're very, very aggressive in our
- 35:19Speaker 14: special team. So I think it's come down to data
- 35:21Speaker 14: analysis and how many positions you have in a football game.
- 35:25Speaker 14: So that's kind of how I've evolved from that defensive
- 35:28Speaker 14: coordinator special teams guy.
- 35:31Speaker 24: And given the growth of the Montgomery County, I know,
- 35:34Speaker 24: Conro's like exploding in the surrounding areas, how is your
- 35:37Speaker 24: competition evolving and how does Lake Creek adapt to the
- 35:40Speaker 24: shifting demographics enrollment in the talent pools.
- 35:43Speaker 14: Well, you know, the Montgomery County is blowing up, the
- 35:48Speaker 14: Conroi area is blowing up. But you know out here
- 35:50Speaker 14: at Lake Creek and then the Montgomery ISD we're about
- 35:54Speaker 14: a ten percent growth. I mean we opened that we
- 35:56Speaker 14: had if you say we had twelve hundred kids and
- 35:59Speaker 14: eight team I think we're only going to turn in
- 36:02Speaker 14: sixteen sixteen ninety here next Friday. And so you know
- 36:06Speaker 14: we've grown four hundred kids eight years. That's you know,
- 36:09Speaker 14: it's fifty kids a year. You know, the competition wise,
- 36:15Speaker 14: it's pretty good. I mean it's it's pretty good. Montgomery's
- 36:17Speaker 14: got a good football program. Coach Cooper does a great
- 36:19Speaker 14: job over there. They've gotten the better of us the
- 36:22Speaker 14: last two years. So the competition is good. You know,
- 36:26Speaker 14: the growth is not what you want. But you know,
- 36:29Speaker 14: when you think, I think when you had you know,
- 36:32Speaker 14: I what it is is you got high interest rates,
- 36:36Speaker 14: you got people don't want to buy houses. So I
- 36:37Speaker 14: mean it's one of those things. As far as growth,
- 36:41Speaker 14: they do predict that the district will take off here
- 36:42Speaker 14: in the next eight years. So that's kind of where
- 36:46Speaker 14: we're at.
- 36:47Speaker 24: Right Who graduated last year that left big shoes to
- 36:50Speaker 24: fill and have you guys had trouble filling those shoes
- 36:53Speaker 24: this season?
- 36:54Speaker 14: Well this year, I guess last year Taivon Byers who's
- 36:56Speaker 14: at Rice, and Eli Marcos who's at Texas A and M.
- 37:00Speaker 14: They graduated last year. You know, they're they're good and
- 37:04Speaker 14: they're great football players and we were glad to have them.
- 37:06Speaker 14: We were blessed to have them on our program. But
- 37:10Speaker 14: we have great kids this year. You know, we haven't
- 37:12Speaker 14: had the success, but you know we're we're you know
- 37:16Speaker 14: this year, this time last year, we were out of
- 37:18Speaker 14: the playoffs. Uh this time this year, we are not
- 37:22Speaker 14: out of the playoffs. We still control our destiny as
- 37:24Speaker 14: far as getting in. So you know, I don't look
- 37:27Speaker 14: at it. You know, those are great kids that graduated.
- 37:29Speaker 14: We had. You know, Sam Lee graduated, he's playing baseball
- 37:32Speaker 14: in sam Houston. I mean all the things. Great kids graduated,
- 37:35Speaker 14: you know. But we we go ahead and just the
- 37:37Speaker 14: next guy up and we try to win a football
- 37:39Speaker 14: game with.
- 37:40Speaker 24: Him, right, And what is your identity of the crew
- 37:44Speaker 24: this year? Who do you think has really stood out?
- 37:46Speaker 24: Anyone specific on the team.
- 37:48Speaker 14: Well, we you know, we came in with question marks
- 37:51Speaker 14: at quarterback, running back and uh so we came in
- 37:55Speaker 14: and I guess Zach cole Well has stepped up. He's
- 37:57Speaker 14: a senior US he's stepped up at the quarterback position.
- 38:01Speaker 14: I think, you know, we we struggled at the running
- 38:04Speaker 14: back position early. I think we we've settled on a
- 38:08Speaker 14: senior named Luke Middlebrook. He's backed up by a freshman
- 38:12Speaker 14: named Ethanke excuse me, Cannon Davis. And uh, you know,
- 38:16Speaker 14: so those were two positions because quarterback running back, we're
- 38:20Speaker 14: Eli and us Eli and Taytay. So you know, uh,
- 38:26Speaker 14: those guys have stepped up. We've had some big receiver
- 38:29Speaker 14: step up one one Gonzalez had stepped up. Cooper Gary
- 38:32Speaker 14: on defense has stepped up for us. We have a
- 38:35Speaker 14: sophomore Nico Cancela who's a really good football player. Z
- 38:39Speaker 14: Island Pete has been here for three years or four years,
- 38:42Speaker 14: played on the varsit three years. He's been very steady,
- 38:44Speaker 14: yety on defense. So you know, it's just the next
- 38:46Speaker 14: man up.
- 38:48Speaker 24: Right. You lost your last game against Huntsville. What do
- 38:51Speaker 24: you think went well and what do you think challenged
- 38:53Speaker 24: your team?
- 38:54Speaker 14: Well, we came out, we scored on the first position,
- 38:56Speaker 14: and we moved up, we moved down the field, so
- 38:58Speaker 14: and we thought it was gonna be and then we
- 39:02Speaker 14: sputtered offensively. You know, I'm not really not really disappointed
- 39:06Speaker 14: in the kids' effort. I mean I tell them that
- 39:08Speaker 14: all the time, not really disappointing their effort. You know,
- 39:10Speaker 14: we got to do the little things better. We didn't
- 39:13Speaker 14: do enough little things better to win the game, so
- 39:16Speaker 14: that that ultimately cost us down the stretch.
- 39:19Speaker 24: Yeah, and which matchup the season do you think has
- 39:22Speaker 24: been most difficult and what did you take away from it?
- 39:25Speaker 14: I thought, well, okay, so we started the year, we
- 39:28Speaker 14: had a lot of question marks. I lost to Magnolia.
- 39:31Speaker 14: We stubbed our toe against Saint Thomas. That's one that
- 39:34Speaker 14: in thirty two years of coaching, you know, I feel
- 39:36Speaker 14: like I let get away from me. Then we beat Stray,
- 39:41Speaker 14: We played Fort Nah's. Fort Nach is a really good
- 39:43Speaker 14: football team. Montgomery is a really good football team. So
- 39:46Speaker 14: we're sitting there, you know, basically one and four. We
- 39:48Speaker 14: beat Dayton, we beat Needling, we lose to Huntsville. I
- 39:53Speaker 14: feel like the lost to Huntsville because our kids played
- 39:56Speaker 14: so well. It's put us on the right path to
- 39:59Speaker 14: finish season.
- 40:01Speaker 24: And you face Splendora next. What are your what are
- 40:04Speaker 24: you expecting out of that match and how do you
- 40:06Speaker 24: think your teams will class?
- 40:08Speaker 4: Just in terms of play style, I've ay like.
- 40:10Speaker 14: To throw it all over the yard. They're pretty aggressive
- 40:13Speaker 14: on special teams. So I expect a high scoring football game,
- 40:18Speaker 14: but I expect us to come out on the top
- 40:19Speaker 14: of the end.
- 40:21Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 24: Shifting to a more coaching perspective, as the game evolves,
- 40:26Speaker 24: you know, offensive schemes, athletes, specialization safety protocols. How do
- 40:29Speaker 24: you stay ahead of the curve and ensure your program
- 40:31Speaker 24: is current while staying true to your core values.
- 40:34Speaker 14: Well, you know, we're I'm old, so thirty second year,
- 40:39Speaker 14: so we're we tackled, but you know you got to
- 40:41Speaker 14: you got to make sure your kids. You know, your
- 40:43Speaker 14: kids are protected. So we we use them, the little
- 40:48Speaker 14: bump caps, we put those on our helmets. We do
- 40:50Speaker 14: a lot, we do. We we basically pan down our
- 40:54Speaker 14: tackle circuit. I think that has helped our help I
- 40:59Speaker 14: mean and put in so you know, you're you're very
- 41:02Speaker 14: cognizant of head injuries and all those things in the
- 41:05Speaker 14: year twenty twenty five, so you know, the proper teaching
- 41:08Speaker 14: of tackling, the proper teaching of blocking and all those things,
- 41:14Speaker 14: and then protect the kids. So that that's kind of
- 41:17Speaker 14: the twenty twenty five philosophy.
- 41:20Speaker 24: Right, last question for you here, what is your philosophy
- 41:23Speaker 24: around player development and what are the key metrics or
- 41:26Speaker 24: indicators you look for beyond just win and losses to
- 41:28Speaker 24: gauge whether your program is on the right track.
- 41:32Speaker 14: I look to see whether kids, I'll tell coaches all
- 41:34Speaker 14: the time in our office. You know, we have a
- 41:37Speaker 14: scale of one or zero to one hundred. Where are
- 41:41Speaker 14: we at as a team as.
- 41:42Speaker 7: Far as.
- 41:45Speaker 14: What we know, what we can do and all those things. Well,
- 41:48Speaker 14: and it's the same with a player. If a player,
- 41:51Speaker 14: If a player is let's just say he's a twenty
- 41:54Speaker 14: five when he starts the season out of one hundred,
- 41:56Speaker 14: which means he's a developmental player. But you've got a
- 41:59Speaker 14: plane and you got to put him on. You gotta
- 42:01Speaker 14: put him on the field. Then you need to get
- 42:03Speaker 14: that kid somewhere into the seventy five eighty range. So
- 42:06Speaker 14: you got to coach him up. And you know that's
- 42:09Speaker 14: the new challenge today is you know, you don't get
- 42:11Speaker 14: ready made players, especially in five Bay football, don't get
- 42:15Speaker 14: ready made players. You got to coach him up. So
- 42:17Speaker 14: that's kind of a that's kind of where we're at.
- 42:21Speaker 24: All right, Thank you so much for your time, sir.
- 42:24Speaker 14: All right, I appreciate it, Yes.
- 42:25Speaker 24: Sir, good luck on the field.
- 42:26Speaker 7: Thank you.

- 47:56Speaker 4: I love that kid. He is a special kid.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Uh Okay, speaking of special, the talk today is is
- 48:05Speaker 1: Freddie Freeman a Hall of Famer? Well, I would say yeah,
- 48:08Speaker 1: Eddie Freeman is probably a Hall of Famer, even if
- 48:12Speaker 1: he hasn't done what he's done in the last two
- 48:14Speaker 1: World Series. Last night walk off bottom of the eighteenth inning.
- 48:20Speaker 34: Hey, Freddy, always a pleasure.
- 48:22Speaker 7: Yep.
- 48:22Speaker 34: The what what is the mindset?
- 48:26Speaker 7: Is?
- 48:27Speaker 34: They're walking Showy over and over again to pitch to
- 48:32Speaker 34: you and Mookie, and then you know, you had constant
- 48:37Speaker 34: situations where you had runners on basin extra innings because
- 48:42Speaker 34: the way it was set up, and it's like, then
- 48:45Speaker 34: you finally come through with with.
- 48:47Speaker 35: No one on, with no one on, weird? Have the
- 48:51Speaker 35: game works sometimes?
- 48:52Speaker 4: Right?
- 48:53Speaker 35: Showy's game. I hope we don't lose sight of getting
- 48:57Speaker 35: on our starting picture to Margot on based nine times
- 48:59Speaker 35: the night just incredible.
- 49:03Speaker 7: You know.
- 49:03Speaker 35: It's just kind of how when you're that hot and
- 49:05Speaker 35: you're hitting balls right center, left center, like show Hate
- 49:11Speaker 35: was tonight, you just knew he was feeling good. So,
- 49:13Speaker 35: I mean, that's the right move. You don't want show
- 49:15Speaker 35: Hay to beat you and let other guys try and
- 49:17Speaker 35: beat you after his first wart bats And it took
- 49:20Speaker 35: a lot longer, but we finally did it.
- 49:22Speaker 36: Go up the front in the middle here Freddy with Steve.
- 49:27Speaker 7: Gratulation, Thank you.
- 49:28Speaker 20: Can you talk about and put in towards how exhausted
- 49:33Speaker 20: you were on the eighteenth thing.
- 49:35Speaker 7: You know, to us, it's all it's just swinging the bat.
- 49:37Speaker 7: I know it's more than that.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Can you tell us how tired you were at that point?
- 49:42Speaker 35: I mean, to be honest, I wasn't actually that tired.
- 49:45Speaker 35: When you have your bullpen doing what they're doing, it
- 49:48Speaker 35: just keeps firing you up over and over and over again.
- 49:52Speaker 35: If you're tired in the World Series game, it's kind
- 49:55Speaker 35: of I don't think anybody's tired after that, but it's
- 49:59Speaker 35: just when you're going through a that zero after zero,
- 50:02Speaker 35: I was just trying to get on base against tough
- 50:04Speaker 35: left the sinkerballer with the hard curve ball. I was
- 50:07Speaker 35: just trying to get on but got to a three
- 50:08Speaker 35: two count and I was able to put a good
- 50:10Speaker 35: swing on it. My swings were getting better as the
- 50:12Speaker 35: game was going on. I thought I had a couple
- 50:15Speaker 35: of hits, and I don't know, twenty one innings ago.
- 50:19Speaker 35: I just felt my swing was getting better and better,
- 50:21Speaker 35: and thankfully I was able to get one over. But
- 50:24Speaker 35: I don't think we're physically tired. I think you're just
- 50:26Speaker 35: mentally tired because you're in it every pitch, and every
- 50:28Speaker 35: pitch means something. In the World Series and in the playoffs,
- 50:32Speaker 35: so I think we're all emotionally and mentally drained about
- 50:35Speaker 35: five rows back in the middle.
- 50:38Speaker 34: Hey Freddy, you've hit a bunch of balls seemingly on
- 50:40Speaker 34: the screws.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Even going back into Toronto. Get it down in two
- 50:43Speaker 4: and then tonight look like a wall that.
- 50:44Speaker 34: Looked like at any point, do you get frustrated, you
- 50:46Speaker 34: get annoyed, you get.
- 50:47Speaker 35: An I mean, there's the one in Toronto. I thought
- 50:50Speaker 35: I hit way better than the one in the center
- 50:53Speaker 35: field where it still was like twenty feet short. But
- 50:56Speaker 35: it's not I'm not getting frustrated. It's because of the
- 50:58Speaker 35: balls on the barrel. So I know if I keep
- 51:01Speaker 35: staying with that, if I try and switch it up,
- 51:02Speaker 35: then I'm gonna most likely not be on the barrel.
- 51:05Speaker 35: So if you just keep putting good swings on it,
- 51:07Speaker 35: sooner rather than later, it's gonna it's gonna be what
- 51:11Speaker 35: you want. But yeah, as the game went on, the
- 51:14Speaker 35: ball was going a little bit more true for me
- 51:16Speaker 35: to center field and left center. This the one that
- 51:18Speaker 35: Miles ran down and left center off lour that's even
- 51:22Speaker 35: though I got out, I was like, okay, there it is.
- 51:24Speaker 35: I finally felt the stay behind the ball and drive it,
- 51:27Speaker 35: and it just made my confidence soar. And thankfully Will
- 51:30Speaker 35: climb MVP of this game, I was able to throw
- 51:34Speaker 35: more zeros up and I was able to get up again.
- 51:37Speaker 7: Six ers back.
- 51:37Speaker 13: Are you're right, Freddy?
- 51:39Speaker 7: Freddy?
- 51:39Speaker 19: Of all the times that you guys nearly won the games?
- 51:43Speaker 19: Will Smith fly out Munsey's foul ball, which one kind
- 51:46Speaker 19: of stood out as the dugout, getting most excited like
- 51:48Speaker 19: maybe that was gonna be it?
- 51:49Speaker 35: Yeah, I mean, I think it's more of you just
- 51:54Speaker 35: as an offense, you're trying to get on and I
- 51:57Speaker 35: felt for a couple of dnings we were trying to
- 51:58Speaker 35: do too much and one of us was just trying
- 52:00Speaker 35: to hit a home run. And then as we started
- 52:02Speaker 35: getting you know, passing the time Max got the walk,
- 52:05Speaker 35: Tail get the hit, we just didn't.
- 52:06Speaker 7: Get the hit that we needed.
- 52:07Speaker 35: So it was starting to look like better at bats
- 52:10Speaker 35: after a few at bats where I think we were
- 52:12Speaker 35: just trying to do too much. But as the innings
- 52:15Speaker 35: got on, we were getting closer and closer to ball
- 52:17Speaker 35: going over the fence, and thankfully our bullpen kept throwing
- 52:20Speaker 35: zeros and we got one. Six r us back on
- 52:23Speaker 35: your left pretty Hi, Freddy.
- 52:26Speaker 27: Hey, have you talked to Yamamoto?
- 52:30Speaker 7: I mean if he wouldn't.
- 52:31Speaker 35: BECAUSELF you, I know, I hugged Yeah, we hugged him.
- 52:38Speaker 35: But that's a testament to our team that he's willing
- 52:41Speaker 35: to go do that. It took every single guy tonight
- 52:47Speaker 35: and uh for him to want to do that. I
- 52:51Speaker 35: think that's just shows you who we are as a group.
- 52:53Speaker 35: We'll do anything to win the game. But for him
- 52:57Speaker 35: to go out there and I did see him warming
- 52:59Speaker 35: up and I was like, oh man, that is we
- 53:01Speaker 35: got to keep this guy out of the game. But yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 35: it's just even though we didn't come in the game,
- 53:07Speaker 35: I think that just shows you who we are as
- 53:09Speaker 35: a group.
- 53:10Speaker 36: Two last ones, Freddy Julian on your right, Hey, Freddy,
- 53:14Speaker 36: you kind of alluded to a little bit, but just
- 53:16Speaker 36: how do you describe show Hey reaching base nine times
- 53:19Speaker 36: and then he's he looked up and he's your starter starter.
- 53:23Speaker 35: Yeah. I think he didn't give a quote that he
- 53:25Speaker 35: said he was feeling better at the plate before the game.
- 53:28Speaker 35: I think he did. He definitely was. It's I mean,
- 53:34Speaker 35: he's a unicorn. It's just I don't there's no more
- 53:39Speaker 35: adjectives you can describe show. Hey, it's four for four
- 53:43Speaker 35: or five walks. You finally got the pitch pitch two
- 53:47Speaker 35: at the in the last last, his last at bat,
- 53:49Speaker 35: and you still had the patience to not be trying
- 53:52Speaker 35: to do too much and get on base. He's just incredible. Uh,
- 53:58Speaker 35: we've been talking about him since you got here in
- 53:59Speaker 35: two thousan eighteen. We were still running out of words
- 54:03Speaker 35: to describe once in a ten generational player, tarot on.
- 54:08Speaker 7: Your left or are the congratulations?
- 54:10Speaker 33: So it was about seven hours almost tuesday.
- 54:14Speaker 18: Yeah, So did your lovely Childlene get to see that moment?
- 54:20Speaker 35: Did who your lovely child?
- 54:22Speaker 14: Len?
- 54:24Speaker 35: I didn't se him on the field, but I know
- 54:25Speaker 35: they were here. I don't know if they got taken home.
- 54:29Speaker 35: One of them woke up at seven thirty this morning,
- 54:31Speaker 35: so not so sure if he made it. I know
- 54:33Speaker 35: Charlie's going to be here for sure. I just don't
- 54:35Speaker 35: know if the four year olds made it. But my
- 54:37Speaker 35: whole family was on the field except for my kids,
- 54:39Speaker 35: so they were on the so I would assume no
- 54:41Speaker 35: one got taken home. So I would assume my kids.
- 54:43Speaker 7: Are still here.
- 54:43Speaker 35: But we'll see, I guess after I finished this, we'll
- 54:46Speaker 35: see where they're at. We'll finish up in the second row.
- 54:48Speaker 16: Freddy, when you hit the walk off last year, you
- 54:50Speaker 16: said sort of thing that you dream about, Yeah, back
- 54:53Speaker 16: yard playing will Felt ball.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Did you dream about doing it twice?
- 54:56Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 54:56Speaker 35: I mean no, I don't think you ever come up
- 54:58Speaker 35: with the scenario twice. And but you just kept getting
- 55:02Speaker 35: the opportunities over and over again. I was the one
- 55:04Speaker 35: I flew out to center field. I was just really
- 55:08Speaker 35: trying to hit a single there and get a base
- 55:10Speaker 35: hit and move on and get get this scheme over with,
- 55:13Speaker 35: you know, three hours ago.
- 55:14Speaker 7: But it's just.
- 55:17Speaker 35: When you're when you're in those situations over and over again,
- 55:22Speaker 35: it's kind of what you you're always in, Like that's
- 55:24Speaker 35: what you were talking about as kids. And last year
- 55:27Speaker 35: it was always basis loaded, you know, and you know,
- 55:30Speaker 35: two outs, bottom of the ninth. I know it happened
- 55:32Speaker 35: in the tenth.
- 55:33Speaker 15: But.
- 55:35Speaker 35: To have it happen again a year later, to hit
- 55:37Speaker 35: another walk off, and it's just I don't it's kind
- 55:41Speaker 35: of amazing, crazy, And I'm just glad we won and
- 55:44Speaker 35: we're up to one and we got our show hang
- 55:47Speaker 35: on the mound tomorrow.
- 55:49Speaker 36: Once in a lifetime moments twice.
