- 0:05Speaker 1: You're on air.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Well, you allude to AI on an occasional basis, and
- 0:11Speaker 2: that's good that you're doing that. I think it's wonderful.
- 0:14Speaker 2: And what you were saying, or the news with Minneapolis
- 0:19Speaker 2: and maybe some issues in Columbus or some other parts
- 0:22Speaker 2: of Ohio, and that's what you would do. You would
- 0:25Speaker 2: ask your AI programming team, of all of the payees,
- 0:30Speaker 2: all the checks that are going out for a particular program,
- 0:33Speaker 2: let's say daycare or maybe getting assistance from a family
- 0:38Speaker 2: member or a friend to avoid having to go to
- 0:41Speaker 2: a nursing home, which would save Medicaid money, and that
- 0:46Speaker 2: would be a good thing. But you can get AI
- 0:49Speaker 2: and ask it to arrange all of the payees by
- 0:52Speaker 2: zip code and then arrange all of those payees by
- 0:58Speaker 2: street names alphabetically, and then arrange all of those by numbers,
- 1:06Speaker 2: like street numbers, in order numerically. And then all you
- 1:11Speaker 2: would do is just run your finger down those lists,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and you'd find out that, gee, this is kind of odd.
- 1:16Speaker 2: There's 20 people getting this check, 20 different payees. They
- 1:22Speaker 2: are in the same building, but they do have different
- 1:26Speaker 2: doors that So there's 102, 104, 106, 110 Commerce Boulevard
- 1:34Speaker 2: on this particular street, and they're all getting the same assistance.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Maybe we should look into this. Why are all these on?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Could it even be possible that there's enough room in
- 1:44Speaker 2: the building to take care of or provide the service
- 1:48Speaker 2: that you're investigating? And that's an application of AI. That's
- 1:53Speaker 2: a Perfect way to do it is what I just described.
- 1:56Speaker 2: We could have an AI program that would do that
- 1:59Speaker 2: and keep track of all that. And all you do
- 2:01Speaker 2: is just run down with your finger. You'd spot them
- 2:04Speaker 2: like red lights on a street.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Technology, basically you give me hope that technology will stop
- 2:11Speaker 3: this fraud that is going on.
- 2:14Speaker 1: If the government..
- 2:16Speaker 3: Isn't that what Musk really wanted to do with the
- 2:18Speaker 3: federal government that they fought him on and drove him
- 2:21Speaker 3: out of town?
- 2:23Speaker 1: And we should really do that with our state government.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Doge was fantastic what he was doing because he was
- 2:29Speaker 2: picking up on all of these red lights or all
- 2:32Speaker 2: these hints or teasers that he spotted. The people that
- 2:40Speaker 2: he had working with him in the Doge, those weren't.
- 2:44Speaker 2: uneducated people. They were smart. They knew exactly what they
- 2:47Speaker 2: were doing. And sure, he ruffled a lot of feathers
- 2:51Speaker 2: because people were getting caught with their hand in the
- 2:54Speaker 2: cookie jar.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:57Speaker 3: And the Democrats wanted to end it because in many
- 3:01Speaker 3: cases that money was going to their non-profits and then
- 3:05Speaker 3: would go back into their campaigns.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I mean, it was just total corruption.
- 3:10Speaker 3: And like Tex Fisher was saying, we know that we
- 3:13Speaker 3: could be talking billions of dollars in the state of
- 3:15Speaker 3: Ohio as far as Medicaid fraud is concerned. We'll never
- 3:19Speaker 3: get the money back, but we can certainly stop it
- 3:23Speaker 3: from happening and hopefully prosecute people who've participated in it.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And you give me hope by saying this technology should
- 3:32Speaker 3: make this relatively easy in the future. Very near future.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Right. And it's... That's what it's supposed to do. That's
- 3:41Speaker 2: what AI does. It accumulates all that data and presents
- 3:45Speaker 2: it in a form that makes it easy to understand
- 3:47Speaker 2: and to utilize it. But just to mention one other
- 3:51Speaker 2: thing before I hang up. Well, I was one of
- 3:57Speaker 2: the people that didn't like using illegal immigrant. I didn't
- 4:00Speaker 2: like the word immigrant to be involved in that at all.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I preferred something like illegal entrant immigrant. So an illegal
- 4:08Speaker 2: entrant to the country, not an illegal immigrant, because a
- 4:11Speaker 2: lot of immigrants aren't illegal. I didn't like the use
- 4:14Speaker 2: of that, and I called your show one time about
- 4:16Speaker 2: that and said maybe we could use illegal entrant. And
- 4:19Speaker 2: not too long after that, they started using illegal alien.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So they gave up on that. You don't hear that
- 4:26Speaker 2: illegal immigrant as much as you used to. There's these
- 4:28Speaker 2: other alternatives, which is a good idea in my opinion.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I kind of like your word better than any of them.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yeah, because it makes it very general. That's right.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It's very clear, and I like that word. Because now
- 4:43Speaker 3: that they're talking UFOs, people are saying, what about those aliens?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Possibly real aliens.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Illegal aliens.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Something to think about.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I only want authorized UFOs to come to my world.
- 4:58Speaker 1: There you go.
- 4:58Speaker 3: You've got to call more often. You're an interesting guy.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I appreciate your time.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Well, I enjoy your show.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Thank you, NewsRadio 570. I've got to scoot because the
- 5:07Speaker 3: Guardians pregame is coming up after the break on NewsRadio 570.
- 5:10Speaker 3: We're on verb from the kingdom of Mahoning.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yes, I am.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Yes, I am. And I appreciate you listening and tuning
- 5:18Speaker 3: in and joining us here on NewsRadio 570. We'll be
- 5:20Speaker 3: right back. And never take you for granted. Always trying

- 5:41Speaker 3: good night on News Radio.

- 6:56Speaker 5: Good evening, everyone. Welcome to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show
- 7:02Speaker 5: tonight from Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland. It's the Guardians
- 7:06Speaker 5: and the Minnesota Twins in the opening game of a
- 7:10Speaker 5: three-game weekend series and the start of a nine-game homestand
- 7:15Speaker 5: for the Guardians. Jim Rosenhouse along with you about a
- 7:17Speaker 5: half hour prior to tonight's first pitch. And the Guardians
- 7:21Speaker 5: coming off a good road trip, 4-3 after their victory
- 7:24Speaker 5: yesterday against In Kansas City, they are atop the American
- 7:28Speaker 5: League Central Division, one game over. 500, a game and
- 7:32Speaker 5: a half ahead of the second-place Tigers. Meanwhile, the Twins
- 7:35Speaker 5: at the bottom of the division at 16-22, currently three
- 7:40Speaker 5: and a half games off the pace. Battle of left-handers tonight.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Connor Prelip going for Minnesota, one of their top pitching prospects,
- 7:48Speaker 5: and he'll be opposed by lefty Parker Messick, who's been
- 7:51Speaker 5: off to a great start for Cleveland. Weather conditions downtown, well,
- 7:55Speaker 5: it's cloudy. Some shower activity in the area, but we
- 7:59Speaker 5: have been told we will start on time. No rain
- 8:02Speaker 5: right now, and hopefully it holds off for the length
- 8:05Speaker 5: of tonight's game. Stay tuned. More to come after this.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Welcome back to Guardians Warm-Up. Time for the weekly farm
- 8:18Speaker 5: report with Vice President of Player Development, Stephen Osterer. We
- 8:22Speaker 5: talked single-A Lake County this week, the home of several
- 8:26Speaker 5: college-drafted players, high-round draft picks from a year ago who
- 8:31Speaker 5: are battling the ups and downs of that first long
- 8:34Speaker 5: minor league full season. And Oste talked about what some
- 8:38Speaker 5: of the challenges are for these young players.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Yeah, good morning, Rosie.
- 8:44Speaker 8: We do have an interesting bunch there with a lot
- 8:47Speaker 8: of those college players and I think when, whenever a
- 8:52Speaker 8: player makes a transition to professional baseball, the volume of
- 8:57Speaker 8: the work and the volume of the games is something
- 8:59Speaker 8: that they have to adapt to. And I think for
- 9:01Speaker 8: the college players, it's really no different than a high
- 9:05Speaker 8: school player. And they're trying to figure out what does
- 9:07Speaker 8: the day look like?
- 9:08Speaker 4: What does the week look like?
- 9:09Speaker 8: How do I put two weeks together and all of
- 9:12Speaker 8: the things that go into preparing their bodies, preparing for
- 9:15Speaker 8: the game and how to recover from all of those
- 9:18Speaker 8: things and, It can be a real adjustment for everyone. So, yes,
- 9:23Speaker 8: the college age players are obviously older and a little
- 9:25Speaker 8: bit more experienced with games. But when you try to
- 9:28Speaker 8: stack together the volume of things that they have to
- 9:30Speaker 8: do on a daily and weekly basis, there are a
- 9:33Speaker 8: lot of things that they have to navigate and learn
- 9:36Speaker 8: and learn about themselves. So that can lead to a
- 9:39Speaker 8: ton of inconsistency day to day. And these guys are
- 9:43Speaker 8: no different in seeing some of that to start the year.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Well, let's start with last year's top-round draft pick, Jace Laviolette,
- 9:50Speaker 5: the big center fielder. What do you think from him
- 9:53Speaker 5: so far as he battles through some of those ups
- 9:55Speaker 5: and downs of pro ball?
- 9:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, he's he's an incredibly gifted athlete. He's got,
- 10:02Speaker 4: he's got kind.
- 10:03Speaker 8: Of like the Ferrari body, the incredible power plus speed,
- 10:08Speaker 8: you know, the, all the tools to dream of this
- 10:10Speaker 8: huge upside and ceiling. And he's a confident guy. He's
- 10:15Speaker 8: really competitive. He wants to be really good. And like
- 10:19Speaker 8: I said, he's one of them who's, who's settling into
- 10:21Speaker 8: what that professional season looks like.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Those adjustments aren't easy.
- 10:25Speaker 8: And yeah, I think for a guy coming from a
- 10:28Speaker 8: big program, sometimes it's a little bit more grind than
- 10:31Speaker 8: luxury in the minor leagues.
- 10:33Speaker 4: So there's that adjustment to it too.
- 10:35Speaker 8: But yeah, from a development developmental standpoint, yeah, it's just
- 10:40Speaker 8: limiting strikeouts, getting a little bit more consistent contact.
- 10:43Speaker 4: That is going to be the big thing for him long-term. There's,
- 10:46Speaker 4: really no.
- 10:47Speaker 8: Secret around the tools and the upside. And it also
- 10:51Speaker 8: doesn't mean that this is an easy fix or it's
- 10:53Speaker 8: going to be something that's developed quickly. So it requires time,
- 10:57Speaker 8: getting more information, learning about himself, getting a clearer picture
- 11:02Speaker 8: of how we're going to impact change and tweaking things
- 11:05Speaker 8: over time and, You know, it's not the prototypical just
- 11:09Speaker 8: get bigger, stronger pathway for some of these guys. And
- 11:11Speaker 8: this is one of those included. So it's a little
- 11:13Speaker 8: bit more complex than that. But he's bought into the work.
- 11:15Speaker 8: He recognizes what we're trying to make progress on. He
- 11:19Speaker 8: does make really good swing decisions and has plus power
- 11:22Speaker 8: when he connects. So, you know, he's shown both of
- 11:24Speaker 8: those things thus far at a high level. And that
- 11:27Speaker 8: part is really exciting. So, yeah, he's had some rough
- 11:30Speaker 8: patches of strikeout rates early and has had to handle that.
- 11:34Speaker 8: you know, the ups and downs of that already. And
- 11:36Speaker 8: he's done that really well. So it's going to be
- 11:39Speaker 8: a bit of a slow burn and a slow cook
- 11:41Speaker 8: to make the adjustments over time. And, you know, we'll
- 11:44Speaker 8: probably look more like that than just this immediate takeoff. But,
- 11:48Speaker 8: you know, we're already making progress. He's a phenomenal attitude
- 11:52Speaker 8: to the work and showing up. And he's a great teammate.
- 11:54Speaker 4: So we're excited about Jace.
- 11:56Speaker 5: We will talk pitching at Lake County after this time
- 11:59Speaker 5: out on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 12:03Speaker 9: Here's the Bet365 Minute, where winning is everything, with Scott Davidson.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Let's take a look at the numbers.
- 12:09Speaker 9: The first of a long homestand tonight begins at Progressive
- 12:12Speaker 9: Field with our Guardians $ 1. 50 favored on the money line.
- 12:15Speaker 9: Total is 7.5. And I'm going to stay right here
- 12:17Speaker 9: for a play of the day. I like Messick and
- 12:19Speaker 9: the Guardians to get it done in game one tonight. Now,
- 12:22Speaker 9: Messick enters with a 2.40 ERA. He's also coming off
- 12:26Speaker 9: a rough outing. This is a bounce-back situation, but Messick
- 12:29Speaker 9: has a great profile, the kind I look for, meaning this.
- 12:33Speaker 9: He has an elite batted ball profile. He suppresses hard contact.
- 12:37Speaker 9: and gets a lot of strikeouts and limits free passes.
- 12:40Speaker 9: Perfect spot for Parker Messick to get it done. Guards Moneyline,
- 12:43Speaker 9: my play of the day. Now you can join me
- 12:45Speaker 9: when you download the Bet365 app. Remember, bet this or
- 12:48Speaker 9: any Moneyline all season long. Your team goes up by
- 12:50Speaker 9: five runs or more. You win even if they don't.
- 12:53Speaker 9: It's the MLB Early Payout. Terms and conditions apply. That's
- 12:56Speaker 9: a Bet365 Minute.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'm Scott Davidson. Gambling problem? Call 1-800-MY-RESET. 21 plus only.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Must be physically located in Ohio. Welcome back.
- 13:05Speaker 5: It's Guardians Warm-Up. Vice President of Player Development, Stephen Oster,
- 13:09Speaker 5: is joining us. And we're talking Lake County, and the
- 13:12Speaker 5: captains have some arms. They're sprinkled throughout the system, and
- 13:16Speaker 5: some good ones down at single-A Lake County. Let's start
- 13:18Speaker 5: with Franklin Gomez. Here he is, five starts in. He's
- 13:22Speaker 5: allowed two earned runs the whole season. And there's got
- 13:26Speaker 5: to be a lot of excitement. The strikeout walk numbers
- 13:28Speaker 5: look pretty good, too.
- 13:30Speaker 8: Yeah, we got Franklin as part of a trade with
- 13:34Speaker 8: the Mets in the offseason. We were really excited about
- 13:37Speaker 8: him when we got him, and I think more excited now.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Than when we got him, too. Left-handed pitcher, he's young.
- 13:43Speaker 4: He spent most of the last year in low A.
- 13:47Speaker 8: We thought we got a guy that had a really
- 13:50Speaker 8: advanced arsenal and approach for a 20-year-old. I think in
- 13:54Speaker 8: getting to know the person and watching him work and
- 13:57Speaker 8: throw more, we are even more excited and more.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Confident in both of those things.
- 14:06Speaker 8: He's really thoughtful he's got these preparation habits.
- 14:10Speaker 4: And routines that are years beyond his age and.
- 14:13Speaker 8: He understands himself really really well like he knows his
- 14:16Speaker 8: strengths his weaknesses his goals at as a high level
- 14:22Speaker 8: as we probably have you know in the a ball
- 14:24Speaker 8: level if not even higher in the system and He
- 14:28Speaker 8: has performed exceptionally well to start the year. He deploys
- 14:31Speaker 8: five pitches really well, has a game plan for that,
- 14:35Speaker 8: his slider.
- 14:35Speaker 4: He's gained a few.
- 14:38Speaker 8: More inches of cut than it has last year, so
- 14:41Speaker 8: it's allowed him to generate a little bit more width.
- 14:43Speaker 4: He's cut down his walk significantly.
- 14:45Speaker 8: I think he's been more consistent with his delivery, which
- 14:47Speaker 8: has helped with that. To your point, he's really dominating
- 14:51Speaker 8: the level through the month of April, and There's just
- 14:53Speaker 8: so much to be excited about the long-term development with him, too.
- 14:57Speaker 4: We think the velocity will continue to trend up over time.
- 15:00Speaker 8: We think there's some levers to pull, too, and the
- 15:03Speaker 8: quality of his arsenal and how he deploys them. He's
- 15:06Speaker 8: got the work ethic and mentality to capitalize on that.
- 15:10Speaker 8: We've got a really good arm as part of a
- 15:14Speaker 8: number of good arms in this Lake County roster.
- 15:17Speaker 5: One of the other arms down there, a high school-drafted kid.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Not too long ago, and I know you like to
- 15:22Speaker 5: take it slow with some of the high school kids,
- 15:24Speaker 5: but Braylon Doty looks like he's making really good progress.
- 15:29Speaker 5: What do you like about his progress as a youngster
- 15:32Speaker 5: in the system?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right.
- 15:34Speaker 4: He is a youngster.
- 15:35Speaker 8: 20 years old, very young for the level.
- 15:39Speaker 4: In high A.
- 15:41Speaker 8: He performed really well last year and continues to perform
- 15:44Speaker 8: at a high level again to start this year. Braylon's
- 15:48Speaker 8: carrying trade is in the draft and even last year,
- 15:51Speaker 8: we saw it even.
- 15:51Speaker 4: Improve was just this ability to throw strikes.
- 15:54Speaker 8: Um, yeah, he's just so advanced in that department, almost
- 15:57Speaker 8: regardless of age that, you know, makes his.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Floors so high long-term and, um, you know, it's not
- 16:03Speaker 4: quite command.
- 16:04Speaker 8: He's not necessarily executing exactly where he wants the ball
- 16:07Speaker 8: to go all the time, but it's not, it's not
- 16:10Speaker 8: really unrealistic to think that in three to four years time, he's,
- 16:14Speaker 8: He's still going to be in his early 20s at
- 16:15Speaker 8: that point to be potentially elite in this area, just
- 16:18Speaker 8: with the strides that he's making. He's walking around, I think, 3%
- 16:22Speaker 8: of the.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Batters he's faced.
- 16:24Speaker 8: We talked about it the other day, just to put
- 16:26Speaker 8: that into perspective. When Bieber was in the minor leagues,
- 16:29Speaker 8: he held a 2% walk rate, and he was a
- 16:32Speaker 8: college-age pitcher.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Not to draw the strong comparison.
- 16:36Speaker 8: To Shane Bieber and what we saw and put unfair
- 16:39Speaker 8: expectations on Braley, but just to put a little bit
- 16:42Speaker 8: more perspective on what we're seeing from a 20 year
- 16:45Speaker 8: old in professional baseball as he's trying to navigate and
- 16:48Speaker 8: handle a lot of other things that you know not
- 16:51Speaker 8: a strong history of competitive games and development in high
- 16:54Speaker 8: school I mean it's really impressive to see what he
- 16:57Speaker 8: does and you know the primary focus for him really
- 17:01Speaker 8: in the short term has been just to learn lean
- 17:03Speaker 8: into you know building out his arsenal we take it
- 17:06Speaker 8: slow like like you said and He mainly relied on
- 17:09Speaker 8: two pitches.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Sometimes three last year.
- 17:12Speaker 8: We're maturing into the developmental stage of handling maybe more
- 17:16Speaker 8: of a complete mix and try to get to five
- 17:18Speaker 8: pitches that he can deploy confidently. Long term, I think
- 17:22Speaker 8: we still believe the quality is going to be dependent
- 17:25Speaker 8: on how hard he's throwing. We've seen the velocity improve.
- 17:28Speaker 8: It waxes and wanes because he's 20 years old. We're
- 17:32Speaker 8: really optimistic that he's going to continue to grow physically,
- 17:35Speaker 8: sustain physically. Some of the higher clips that he's hit,
- 17:37Speaker 8: like 97 this year. And, you know, he's had some
- 17:43Speaker 8: already adversity in starting the year.
- 17:46Speaker 4: He's had some issues with sickness and battling through the flu. And,
- 17:50Speaker 4: you know, we've seen some up and down on this stuff.
- 17:52Speaker 8: But, yeah, I mean, we've got a 20-year-old who is
- 17:56Speaker 8: incredibly advanced in his ability to throw.
- 17:58Speaker 4: The ball in the zone.
- 18:00Speaker 8: And who has this developing mix that is really exciting
- 18:05Speaker 8: to project on long term. So Braylon continues to be

- 21:26Speaker 5: Time for the Key Bank Manager Show with Guardians Manager
- 21:30Speaker 5: Steven Boat as the Guardians open a new homestand tonight
- 21:32Speaker 5: against the Twins and Boater, you come home with a
- 21:35Speaker 5: 4-3 trip. I know you don't like looking behind too much,
- 21:38Speaker 5: but just looking back on the trip, I feel like
- 21:41Speaker 5: some are better than others, and a 4-3 trip in
- 21:44Speaker 5: this situation seemed really good. What were your impressions after
- 21:48Speaker 5: the game yesterday? A nice win to finish it.
- 21:50Speaker 7: Yeah, it was a great way to come home after
- 21:51Speaker 7: a nice win. That was a tough trip. Going to
- 21:54Speaker 7: the West Coast is not easy. Obviously, the Athletics are
- 21:59Speaker 7: a really good team, so going into their park and
- 22:00Speaker 7: taking two out of three from them We felt really
- 22:03Speaker 7: good about that. And then you drop the first two
- 22:05Speaker 7: in Kansas City, not looking great, and turn around with
- 22:08Speaker 7: two wins to come home. So we're really proud of
- 22:10Speaker 7: our guys. They battled through a tough road trip. A
- 22:12Speaker 7: lot of good things on the road trip and some
- 22:14Speaker 7: things that we need to learn from. So all in all,
- 22:17Speaker 7: a very successful trip.
- 22:18Speaker 5: And you've been in this game long enough to know
- 22:20Speaker 5: that sometimes that day game on the last day of
- 22:23Speaker 5: a trip can be a real challenge. But the quick start,
- 22:26Speaker 5: how big was that yesterday?
- 22:27Speaker 10: It was huge.
- 22:28Speaker 7: I thought the way that our guys attacked Seth Lugo
- 22:31Speaker 7: in that first inning was perfect. I mean, we had
- 22:33Speaker 7: talked before the game that we have to be ready
- 22:36Speaker 7: to hit when the ball's over the plate and lay
- 22:38Speaker 7: off of the stuff on the edges.
- 22:39Speaker 10: And boy, did they.
- 22:40Speaker 7: Execute that yesterday and make him throw 100 pitches in
- 22:43Speaker 7: four innings and did just a phenomenal job.
- 22:46Speaker 10: That was a huge start.
- 22:47Speaker 5: You always have a game plan going in. And you
- 22:51Speaker 5: mentioned executing it. I've What makes it more difficult sometimes
- 22:55Speaker 5: to execute than other times, like yesterday, where it seemed
- 22:58Speaker 5: like they were really on their game?
- 23:00Speaker 10: Well, hitting's hard.
- 23:01Speaker 7: And you don't know what the other pitcher's going to do.
- 23:03Speaker 7: You can plan for all that you want. But at
- 23:05Speaker 7: the end of the day, you still don't know what
- 23:06Speaker 7: pitch is coming. You don't know when they're going to
- 23:08Speaker 7: throw it. And sometimes it's just you watch the first
- 23:11Speaker 7: guy or the second guy. And sometimes it might be
- 23:14Speaker 7: the second time through the order. You see somebody go
- 23:15Speaker 7: out and execute the plan. And then you're like, oh, yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 7: let's go do that.
- 23:19Speaker 10: But hitting's hard. That's why it's hard to do that.
- 23:22Speaker 5: It's taken a little bit for Stephen Kwan and Jose
- 23:24Speaker 5: Ramirez to get rolling like we've seen in the past.
- 23:27Speaker 5: A couple of line drives for both. That most impressive
- 23:31Speaker 5: to you instead of, I mean, a home run would
- 23:33Speaker 5: be great, but the way they got on base and
- 23:36Speaker 5: came through with the type of at-bats they had?
- 23:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I thought yesterday was a huge day for three
- 23:41Speaker 7: of our guys, for Kwan and Jose and Bo. Sometimes
- 23:44Speaker 7: you just need a day like that. All three of
- 23:47Speaker 7: them got on base. They got results. they've been hitting
- 23:51Speaker 7: the ball hard just at people.
- 23:53Speaker 10: It seems like.
- 23:53Speaker 7: And so, um, but Hosey has been taking his walks
- 23:56Speaker 7: lately and quality has been getting on base and that's
- 23:58Speaker 7: when we roll.
- 23:59Speaker 5: And you mentioned Bo Naylor, um, the home run for him. Uh,
- 24:03Speaker 5: I know you talk about process a lot, but results
- 24:06Speaker 5: for him at this point, really, really important and maybe
- 24:09Speaker 5: can give him a lift down the road.
- 24:10Speaker 7: Well, it was great because, um, yes, is the answer
- 24:13Speaker 7: to that question. And the day before, um, I can't
- 24:15Speaker 7: remember what day of the week it is, Rosie, I
- 24:17Speaker 7: think it's Friday, but, I think it was on Wednesday,
- 24:19Speaker 7: Bo went out early with Grant Feek and the hitting
- 24:22Speaker 7: coaches and was working on hitting the ball in the
- 24:24Speaker 7: air to right field. And so for him to go
- 24:27Speaker 7: put in a ton of work on that and then
- 24:29Speaker 7: go execute and get a homer the next day, that
- 24:31Speaker 7: can be huge.
- 24:32Speaker 10: That can be huge for the confidence.
- 24:33Speaker 7: That can be huge as we start to get into
- 24:36Speaker 7: the season.
- 24:36Speaker 10: So we know what Bo's.
- 24:38Speaker 7: Capable of, what he's capable of when he's at his best.
- 24:41Speaker 10: And man, that was a beautiful day he had yesterday.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Because of the challenges on the trip, your bullpen was
- 24:47Speaker 5: used a lot and you made a move prior to
- 24:50Speaker 5: the homestand here. Franco Alamon will make his major league
- 24:53Speaker 5: debut at some point in time. Why the move and
- 24:56Speaker 5: what has you excited to see him?
- 24:57Speaker 7: Yeah, so I mean, first of all, you know, anytime
- 25:00Speaker 7: you have a move coming up, there's always one going
- 25:02Speaker 7: down and we unfortunately had to designate Connor Brogdon for
- 25:06Speaker 7: assignment and.
- 25:07Speaker 10: Connor was great for us and we're going to miss him.
- 25:10Speaker 7: I don't know how it's going to play out with
- 25:11Speaker 7: the waiver process, but I'm truly thankful for Connor and
- 25:14Speaker 7: Helped us win some games in this early part of
- 25:16Speaker 7: the year. But Franco's been throwing the ball well down
- 25:19Speaker 7: in AAA. I mean, I don't think he's given up
- 25:22Speaker 7: a run yet, knock on wood. But we just really
- 25:24Speaker 7: liked the way he was throwing the ball. And with
- 25:27Speaker 7: Sean Armstrong still being out and needing to make the move,
- 25:29Speaker 7: we thought, you know, Franco can come up.
- 25:32Speaker 10: He can give us some innings. He can pitch and leverage.
- 25:34Speaker 10: And we're really excited.
- 25:36Speaker 7: I think this is a great day for Franco and
- 25:38Speaker 7: his family and the organization as a whole.
- 25:40Speaker 5: And if he gets in there this weekend, it's against
- 25:41Speaker 5: the Twins. a team that's battling to stay near the
- 25:45Speaker 5: 500 mark. What are you seeing as you go through
- 25:47Speaker 5: your scouting reports on Minnesota?
- 25:49Speaker 10: They're good. They can hit.
- 25:50Speaker 7: They can really, really hit. And so they match up well.
- 25:53Speaker 7: They've got good right-handed hitters to face left-handed pitching. They
- 25:55Speaker 7: have good left-handed hitters to face right-handed pitching. And any
- 25:59Speaker 7: lineup with Byron Buxton, it's going to be a good one.
- 26:01Speaker 7: So they can really hit. They play good defense. Their
- 26:06Speaker 7: starting pitching has really good stuff. So we've got our
- 26:08Speaker 7: work cut out for us this weekend. But we just
- 26:11Speaker 7: need to play our game. Take care of our side
- 26:13Speaker 7: of the ball, and we'll see what happens.
- 26:15Speaker 5: That is Guardians manager Stephen Vogt, the Key Bank Manager Show.
- 26:18Speaker 5: Stay with us. We'll have more to come after this.
