- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody, welcome back to the newest episode of The Grey Malkin' Lane Patreon channel.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: Now the theme on the show this month, we're doing the wasp trial over on the main show, and the theme on the show here on The Patreon is what we are calling the only girl on the team.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_02]: We're covering some crazy characters, all of them villains from different perspectives.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: And today, we get to talk about a character that you don't like very much, because she's terrible.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: This is one of the worst people we've ever talked about on this channel.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're here to talk about the Lepper Queen.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_02]: This is a character who is like the Karen of mass murderers.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: She has a real weird energy about her.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot going on and also kind of nothing going on at the same time.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: Two of my very favorite people are here with me today.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Karen, I'm a num one.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: Both of you are real life friends.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're both delightful.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to do a lot of laughing today.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: So you are officially both inducted into the Sapien League.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: And as we as we introduce you, tell us some of your initial thoughts on well, and if you want to talk about the look of the Leper Queen and then if you're talking about her personality.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: For one thing, I need to get a mask that has a wig directly attached to it that reminds me of headband wigs so much like out.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: because I can just throw that on, go to the gym with it, or go to a protest with it really if you really into it.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: But that is like a perfect accessory to have.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: I feel very bad for the character and the disfiguration that she went through, but otherwise, honestly, she's rocking it at the end of the day.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is a fuckable monster.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Man, that's how I was about to say I wouldn't call her monster, but honestly, her entire personality is very much through this.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: So she was like, she was like deadpool face and then she dressed like, uh, like a Jason mask or the kind of a gimp mask if I'm honest and like she picked it up at her local like sex shop and then she's like,
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I was introduced to the G.I.J.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: in version, they're like balls, but like still the mask and the military later she gets a black bob wig, it's adorable.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you about personality.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: This lady is a psycho.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: very ruthless um which I can't appreciate like devoted to the cause um very like linear track but also like she means business so very much the queen in the name is a serious matter.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: Where did you guys both first meet this character?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I was not purchasing this decimation era right off the stand.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: So when she initially shows up, I'm sure I bought these, no, I was buying these books.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember her from that like weird era with gaser and like Polaris becoming one of the horsemen of the apocalypse.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't remember the leopard queen.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: I remember her first showing up.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: Of course it's decimation, but like,
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: My first prominent experience with her was in the export stuff later when she comes back and she's sitting next to like all these mass murderers like ball of her trash and like all these names I know and I'm like who the fuck is this person like I don't remember this crazy bitch and I don't like the word bitch very much but for this woman
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: It felt like it was awesome.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, who, where did she come from?
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: And like going back and reading her whole history was kind of, I don't know, there's some things missing.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, whatever story they were trying to tell with her got hijacked into something else.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: This is a weird one.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Where did you both first meet the leopard queen?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Jamie, I think this is first time I've ever seen the leopard queen comics.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is my first time being really introduced to her.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: I remember this era of accident, but I don't remember her.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: Mine was definitely x-force.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of like this one.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like I started like seriously collecting like runs of comics specifically like okay I needed all of this like after Messiah complex into decimation and all of that or decimation into Messiah complex and like all of that afterwards like x-force this version of x-force at least this is when I started like seriously collecting the book and so like I would distinctly remember her and like the whole like bastion and all of that.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: storyline and so like it was so fun that I was like wait that name is familiar like when you ask me because I haven't read it in forever So it was fun getting to go back and actually pull my back issues and like actually like go through them And I was like oh yeah, I do remember this I love that you both are just willing to think journeys with me What I'm like hey, let's talk about the walrus and you're like okay
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let me do the introduction of the first appearance of this character.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: Are you guys fans of the decimation era of the books?
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: This is Wanda in the no more mutants extinction era, like before Hope Summers comes around.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: There's only 200 mutants left on the planet.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: There's some wild swings.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I like this fair only because I think it led into a little bit of the civil war stuff that has already happened around this day, right?
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I liked the response from some of the leaders in the mutant community, especially Emma and Cyclops, especially when it came to them trying to be inducted into the civil like everything that was going on civil war.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then like dark rain right after all that like the initiative and yeah, uh-huh.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like everything about this era is really I love the I love those comics.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a lot of nostalgia for me because like I said I was like seriously collecting at this point.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, as the person I am now like I hate it because like we also got cocoa and I'm like, I love cocoa more.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: I want us to be all like unified and like I don't want this to like, I don't want there to be less of us.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: But also like from the outside context of like they didn't want them creating any more Mexman and like it was a whole like fox versus marble thing so I think that's kind of like Tainted it for me a little bit, but I do I do love like here I'm saying the the growth of the characters that we didn't come to know Scott becoming the leader and more militant and Emma you know actually leading the expert in
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: actually guiding the mansion as headmistress.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think her perspective, especially on superhuman registration and how they maximum removing I think was a really big portion of why grew to love her was because of this run of the comics.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot happening in the comics at the time.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: And this is, uh, when you look at the kind of the, the mutant journey as a species, this is a really fruitful era as well.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: Early 2000s is Grant Morrison.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's when the X-Men go public.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: The genocian mass occurs right after that.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: Then we get House of M, right?
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: House of M is what ends in no more mutants.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then in this era where we first meet the leopard queen, the mutants have been declared and it's like an endangered species.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: There's only 200 left on the planet.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: The predators ex have been created to hunt mutants down and we see like new anti mutant militant groups coming in because this is an opportunity for them to wipe them out.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: like different groups like the Hellfire Cult and the Purifiers and the Right and Operation Zero Tolerance and now we have like one more unique hate group that's among them.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: The Purifiers are giving very Westboro Baptist Church if you know the reference.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Whereas the sapient league is giving very skin head.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's giving very like the evil Aryan Nazis who are like gonna attack queer people in the streets energy.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_02]: These are people with guns who like learn about amutant and just wanna wipe them out.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: But their motivation is just, I don't know, it's very like rebooted for Trump.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: the whole energy about it is just kind of itky.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: And their leader is the leopard queen.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: So after this era is where the mutants decide to declare their first kind of sovereign homeland after genosho, which is the utopia era, which leads into other things going on in the books, right?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: So Jamie Maddox is ex-factor spins out of this in a while.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: We see that ex-force assassination squad.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: But where we're beginning is right after the decimation has happened.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: So those three no more mutant words were spoken and then like there's a bunch of limited series that follow up because a bunch of mutants around the world just dropped that or lose their powers or suddenly unable to defend themselves.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a weirdly named book decimation House of M the day after number one the word decimation is already weird because decimation means like literally like a tenth and it is not a ten they were like millions of mutants and others 200 so the word doesn't work anyway.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: but it's the day after the giant decimation event.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: With three words, the grief-stricken Scarlet Witch has committed an act of cellular violence, altering the DNA of millions of mutants and making them normal.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: From beauties to flat scans, using the hate words,
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: And crazy's emboldened by their vulnerability have armed themselves, form groups, and been hunting down the isolated and vulnerable mutants because if they can form communities, they'll be harder to kill.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: So there is, all the, do you guys remember that episode of the X-Men, the animated series?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: We're all the X-Men are in the mountain mansion, and they go down in the sewers to celebrate Christmas with the more locks, and they do it in the sewers instead of bringing the more locks back to the mansion.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: The pretty ex-met all get to live in the mansion and all of the rest of the students have to live in tents under the guardous sent nose out on the grounds, I'm scared.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: We got it, getting into conversations about what is a socially acceptable new info.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm also like, you have them outside like bring them in.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: not fade out there.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot going on.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: This is a brutal era for books.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: This is where like Josh Guthrie gets his wings cut off and like the bus full of mutants and new ex men gets exploded and like the the kids like skin and bedlam are like nailed on crosses in the front yard of the Xavier mansion.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: Danny Moonstar and Jubilee were nailed to crosses but they survived like crazy crazy story.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: So now we're in this era, then everything is chaos, and as we open this book, Wolverine and Colossus here gunshots.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_02]: There's a new threat on their grounds.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: People are shooting any mutants who might be trying to get refuge there.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is so brutally painful to even 2026.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: Before any shots have been fired, though, this group, the safety and league, has built X-shaped crosses, which is a thing we see often in the book ever since Wolverine got like crucified on that X-shaped cross that one time.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: They plan to hit mutants with tranquilizers and tasers and then tie them up and then watch them burn alive in a place where all the flames would be seen by the school where the mutants are supposed to be under the guard of setinals and like not really able to defend themselves.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: And again, the church of humanity stuff just happened in another book.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: So there are several armed men in the sapient league.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: They look like gun-toting NRA white supremacist assholes.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: And among their number is one woman with long brown hair.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: She wears a white mask over her face.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: And she isn't named in this issue, but will soon learn she's their leader.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: Her name is the Lepper Queen.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna talk about what the name signifies in just a bit.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Are you guys walking dead fans?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: This woman is getting very much alpha from like the people who wears onby faces in the labor seasons of walking dead.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know the character?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: Just getting zombies and then where's their skins?
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: So the three mutants who are all historically foes of the X-Men are running toward the mansion.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: We have Mamma Max, who is a young elephant man, former member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, who has super strength and acid vomit.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: And we have Peepers, who's got like big site powers.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's a former Brotherhood member, later member of the Resistance.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: He's been badly executed prior to this.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: You can go see my Peepers episode.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then we have Erg, who's a member of the Morelox, succeeded from human society, living underneath them.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's got an eye patch with electrical energy.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: And Harry, I'm Fuck Mary Kill, Mamma Max, Peepers and Erg.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, hi, this is such an eye on a person.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like you don't marry Peepers.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have a problem.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, people are definitely the Mary.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like the Mad Max and Urg is the hard part to kind of figure out.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think because I don't want Mad Max to accidentally what's the worth I'm looking for.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: So guys, you said, has acid throw up?
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: What if the accent's in lead during a session?
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, okay, well, I'm dead now.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: So, but what's he doing with that trunk girl?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Ew!
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: You're so right.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: Fuck, Mad Max killed Urg.
- 12:14[UNKNOWN]: Ew!
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I was thinking.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right, well, these three go running toward the mansion and as shock grenade knocks them all out and then a secondary taser has used on mana max the leprequins says kill them now greaty while they're helpless Greaty says you sure boss right on the doorstep and beauty central the sapien league serve and notice that humanity's headed up to here with these abominations this is our world and we're not in the mood to share
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: Irg is tied to the cross, they light it, and he begins screaming in agony as he's nearly burned alive, but Wolverine and Colossus are there to save them.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: Kill them beauties!
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: We may not be able to stop, we might not be able to stop us from doing our job.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: The safety and league gets defeated, of course, and Colossus crushes the leprequines gun right out of her hand.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: I can't do Russian guys.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I look mutantating, tornash even less.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: The X-Men want to pursue the murderers, but human pilot incentives are here because this is the world that we live.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like, let's take the eight machine and put some people inside to watch over you.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're there to protect and contain everyone.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let's talk about our thoughts on this initial presentation of the Leopard Queen.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: Now, how are we feeling?
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: I know it.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Not because it's just a scenario.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, come on guys like this of course the signals are here to intervene But not to stop them from like blowing stuff up or from like shooting people and tying them to across like We're not handling that nope.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: We're just here when the mutants jump in to like save people like so annoying
- 13:46[SPEAKER_02]: The centers are there to stop the X-Men from defending themselves.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: Think about that for a minute.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: There are people with guns and crosses and fire.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, just a couple miles over and they're like, no, you cannot intervene.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's against the law.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was so on topic for some stuff that's going on in the world.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: I get it really a lot.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: just triggered okay so we continue in Xman 177 this is volume two and the Xman respond to the sentinels the safety and league remains hidden in the woods the leprechaun says we've been hiding in the woods since those sentinels arrived man or they are big the mutants are known match for them hop a nice idea
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: But let's keep that on ice until after we win out.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: And gradie says, she makes my flesh crawl.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: I still think she might be one of them.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: Another guy says, forget it kid.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: You ain't seen anyone hate mutants more than she does.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: That could be a cover to infiltrate the sapient league.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: Some of them freaks look like us, don't they?
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's what's so horrible about them.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I know covered, gradie, I'm telling you, she hates them.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: I saw her on a mutant hunt down and Kentucky watched her kill four of them in cold blood.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: No mercy, scary, scary stuff.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: Made me glad I'm the normal.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: If she's such a normal homo sapy and why does she go around in that mask?
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: Is that what's getting at you in the mask?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: That in the gloves, what's with all that stuff?
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: She's got her reasons.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: The leopard queen?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: Is that just the name or you ain't gonna catch anything from her?
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: If that's what's
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: Has nobody ever, is anyone ever actually, you know, senior face beneath the, the ones who didn't live for five minutes?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not feeling good about it.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be honest.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that try, almost ghost came to you.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: What's the word, if I was centralism in the way that they are talking?
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Regarding these characters, like, oh, well, she looks like a meatman.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_00]: So she must be a meatman.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: And also, for one thing, stop talking to her to listen to this about why she wears, but she wears.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, y'all just work for her, okay?
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Get the paycheck and go as all I can say about this.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: This woman is awful, but you know what?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: Even in this workplace, this woman, all they're doing is talking about like, oh, a woman shouldn't be here.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think do you think I could catch something from her?
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: Look at what she's wearing?
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: I hate it.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: We continue in 178, the leopard queen says, the institute is like their spiritual home, take that away and we make a statement, especially after what's just happened to so many of them.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: I know we're likely to incur casualties, but I heard some of them, you can grab human babies and operate on them in that house.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: My own sister lost the baby, swore she'd been a mutant.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_02]: She'd seen a mutant hanging around her place.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: The second thugs says, operate, like they perform emergency app and decdemies.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: The operation must go ahead now.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: The mutants are still in disarray.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: Plenty of daylight left.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_02]: Later in the day, as the Office of National Emergency are standing watch, the sapient league somehow sets up heavy artillery, just outside the mansion.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: Fire's massive explosives at the mutant encampment, then the O&E refuses to let the X-Men defend themselves.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: The league put on their masks and then hold a gun up on Robert Drake.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: And we're not quite sure what's happening with Ice Man's powers here.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_02]: There's some
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right there, don't move.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: She shoot him, say I'm before he morphs into something.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's absets with an energy beam, easy, gritty.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: Got to make sure he's one of them first.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: Iceman says me.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: Am you?
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: You kidding?
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we're in the kitchen here.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: Most nights I spit in their soup.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: Just for the hell of it.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then the leopard queen walks up, gun drawn and gives an order.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: Stop talking.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: She forces Iceman on his knees.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: I sent him to death in the name of the people.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: And he says,
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: And what people might they be?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: She hits him in the head with the gun and knocks him out.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: See, told you she hated him, watched this if and you got the stomach for it.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: She points a gun at Robert Drake's temple into the jaws of death.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: She says, but then the white queen invades her mind and like shuts her down.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yay, Robert Drake changes back into his ice form and now the X-Men come running to Bobby's aid.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: In 179, Outlaw and Peeper are in the woods and they see the leopard queen.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: Iceman grabs her arm and has frozen its solid, which has to be fucking painful.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: Peepers offers her support, and she immediately grabs punches, attacks, breaks his arm, kicks, and elbows outlaw in the head, all while saying, filthy, inhuman, murdering mutants.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: She throws off her masks and runs away while dealing with the sentinels in the government officials, the X-Men beat up the safety and league, and Leopard Queen comes back for her mask.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: So there was clearly some big plans for her.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know quite what happened between the center next to fear.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's because her leg her journey gets a little bit weird.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: But what are I thought on this initial set of appearances?
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: Not how we feel it.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think that like you said, it's a great set of for her.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Just in terms of like,
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: showing her rootlessness, very explicitly showing how much she hates mutants, I think in these, I feel like they should explain a little bit more of why I know we get up later, but I think early on, I think it helps like explain like why she is the way she is.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: especially like the name lover queen and like getting into all of that business but for this I think it's good because of course handling what's going on with you know the aftermath of M.D.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: and all of that especially with characters like Bobby who was under the impression that he or you know whatever secondly was going on with him at that point thought he lost his powers and then him getting them back and then just taking side characters that we didn't get to see
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: well handled.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: I enjoy what they do with her in regards to her um for lackeys and everything because it shows you how somebody can really make like how people who get drawn into that kind of cult of personality will just be ten toes down to whatever you're doing especially if you're doing absolutely heinous bullshit to people who.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: Really don't deserve it at the end of the day.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: There's a there's an interesting commentary on like power sets here.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: This woman it's so easy to kick her ass.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: All she can do is like hit people in the face with elbow like with her elbow and like I don't know like point of gun at Bobby Drake's head.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean like she's a fighter like she's a military fighter but Emma Frost, Iceman, Mamma Max like any one of them could just like kick this person's ass.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's almost as though we're providing and I don't know if Peter Milligan intended this or not.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: But like when we think we're less special and our powers don't shine as much and there's a lot of oppression weighing us down suddenly it's easier for some of these smaller threats to get through I have a lot to say about her motivations, but let's keep going here and do you want to tell us about the next part of her journey.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't give you any any continuity then stuff at all here as apocalypse shows.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was like, wow, there's a lot going on in this comics that we're going to continue to see on top of her community.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: So three weeks later, Alex and Lauren and we're rekindling their romance in Costa Rica.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and Bobby had some issues with fast since he's moving in on my girl, but you know, Bobby can't do anything about that.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's dealing with some power and consistency.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: Um, when they were attacked by some of the members of the sleeping league hunting them down, the SL got their classes kicked and called back into report to the LQ about their injuries.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and understand that they had a first attack and old couple that Alex and Lauren are were talking to during the time, trying to get information on if they'd seen any sort of, you know, anybody who was new in town, anybody who had some odd inconsistencies to their
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: It gets it for a time where it's going to apply this issue to for once a year.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: She orders them to keep their eyes on the meetings if they can because I don't even know if it's how they're going to find them at this point.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: So they've already kind of discounted after kicking their ass.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: But we will go into that in the next issue.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: And promises to get their soon.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_00]: She first delivers flowers to a headstone.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: You work with a Christian cross.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: Lucy Page died aged to my darling daughter.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: killed by humans.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: So we're finally getting a little bit of exposition as to why she has this demon hatred towards me.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to say as we get into the next issue, it still doesn't make any fucking sense.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: Why she blames you answer it.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's about going to be great.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: We do not have a real name for this woman, but we can assume her last name is Paige based on her brother's last name.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: But maybe not also because the daughter could have the last name of her birth father or whatever, right?
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: very true.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: So now we move into 181, what we're going to solve, part 2, deliberately.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: So she's in Costa Rica now, in the Sapien League, are there to greet her, her contacts, call her a man, LQ, call me leopard food, is what all the others do.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the fire they tried to stop me going back into, but when it's your own child, I hardly felt the flames.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's the smoke that her saw an
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Look, man, I mean, leopard queen, you don't have to, I know I have to be quiet.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: I need to tell it sometimes.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's like shedding skin, which is such a good metaphor, especially like when you, because when you get those kind of burns, you do every now and again, shed off some of the.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: and the skin that is slowly very slowly healing over.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like the like the warmth I hear from you on this, where I said, oh yeah, she pulls out a bucket, opens it, a small girl and a cowboy hat and a paint dress smiles on the photo inside.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is Lucy, a few months before the end.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: What can I say?
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: She's pretty low girl, lovely, cute hat.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't this, isn't this incredibly painful for you, man?
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, it's pink.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: It kills me.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: burns me up all over again.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's the point you burn me, don't you?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: Part of start them getting infected when I burn you for little lacking problems.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: I saw every
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: part of me but she wasn't killed by me since she was a when I was five months pregnant this is this is the part that gets me okay this quote truly like maybe say okay you are you're out of it whatever girl when I was five months pregnant I saw me this but
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: me, tells a fire in my belly, at that moment she was changed, infected, lost.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: At a few months old, she caused sparks when the tiny fires started.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_00]: Finally, the conflagration that burnt down our house, that's hook her life, that's hook my face.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: This woman's pussy is on fire.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: God.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: God damn it.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: A mutant baby in the womb is sending little flames on.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh, oh my God.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's getting hot in there.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't that just the heart for the two times?
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: Are you saying pregnancy so tough?
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's feeling my wrong.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: Things will be not as soon as you.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: The bigotry makes you believe the wildest shit.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: Truly, oh my god.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_00]: So she removes her mask to show her scars this man.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: And he immediately is horrified by this.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow, oh, that's, oh, oh, oh.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: He was, he was trying to get, he was trying to get laid before them.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_00]: He did it.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: He did it.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_00]: He did it.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_00]: He had a chance.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_00]: Not, not a chance.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_00]: According to my strict code, I must kill you now to keep my life and trail.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: Uncluttered.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm not necessary.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm afraid it is really news.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think she just wanted to kill this guy.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be honest.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_00]: Would you like to give it to me?
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: Did I was actually part of her code?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: Every girl needs a model log.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: Psycho.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: Truly, oh, I'm good.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: And a little while later, she walks up on Lorna Dane and Alex Summers, who are looking for a fallen spaceship that contains that.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: Please do not worry about anything that is going on with Lorna Alex and that right now.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: But also do worry.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Go read.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's excuse me.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: How am I?
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: What's a dad?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: So a dad is when you
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is a little green, not an alien, not even technically at view end, but at a point he does and I'm drawing the X-Men for a lot of reasons because he kind of fits the category.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is dupe's like in-bred cousin.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I found that like, that is dupe's dad there for one and doesn't seem like it.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: There's a there's a recent issue of aesthetics where there's a dark dupe introduced and his it's his name is dupe backwards and he's brown and his name is Pood Look up that he when you first meet him he talks in apparently but is a consists of whistles and like just high pitch and we
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: Let's let's get back to that leopard queen ends up putting a blade to Lorna's throat.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: You're immune.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: You don't deserve to live.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: She's cries as she's about to in Lorna's life right now.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, there's a plasma burst.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if this one came from Alex or if this one came from DAP at this point because DAP is also throwing off some powers right now that are kind of
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: like very much pushes and and also there's like an apocalypse faints that's in the background during the time that Laura also found at this site but Laura and Alex found at this site.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Laura is then ganked into space afterwards of what is kind of the remnants of that do very confusing lot of shit going on.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: Walker lifts us here to get some new horsemen.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: This is where that weird character gaser shows up and sunfires here and it's, it's, yeah, that's tangential.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: But there's a minute where you wonder if leopard queen is going to get turned into a horseman of apocalypse because you can see her mask on the ground in our locker and she's gone.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: And then in 185, we had up seeing her in chains and foxes, Pocul said, but she wanted to be badly to be more than the
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, origins.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm confused.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: So we initially see this cross that says a Lucy page died age to my darling daughter killed by mutants.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: Now a few issues later, we see a locket with Lucia her daughter in it and we see a picture of a little girl right in a cowboy hat.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's a child.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: But then the origin story she gives in the very same fucking story art is like while I was pregnant,
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: I saw it like in the sauna Graham that it was a mutant and she was like sending off heat blasts and apparently the child was born but then her powers burned the house down and she tried to rush into save her child and that's how she got the burns and now she hates mutants so much that she wants to kill all of them.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: Is that the origin as you're understanding it because it seems inconsistent to me?
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: So no, I don't think in the sonogram, she saw the, um, power birds.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was just that she felt something in her very being just indicate that her daughter was going to be a mutant because she looked at this, we don't even know what mutant she looked at for one thing.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think this ever comes up with the leopard queen.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: We don't find out who was mutant that she saw that day.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: that she thinks infected her fucking fetus at this point.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: But this also brings up a little bit of a issue that I always have with the X gene in general.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: When is the power supposed to manifest?
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: But there are bears.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: But there are bear cases when it happens at birth or even in the womb.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: That has happened with certain characters before.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_02]: So then I guess the sea is one of those characters, and two people would in their day when they're 13, and others knew it from when they were a fetus.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: For me though, like I know we're talking about exoner now and that's marable, but like for me this gives like the dark night like Joker like monologue where it's like you don't really know if he's telling the truth because he's like giving different versions, but then like you're not going to live through this, you know, interaction.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't really matter to him if he's telling the truth or not.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think for her it's more of like, she has this pent up aggression and like I got to get it out.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to tell this story, but I don't want anyone to have like sources to verify with each other.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to die now.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I'm thinking actually and there's some portions of truth to it, but that's just me.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I'm going to say happened her kid ended up with matches or a lighter somehow because she was not watching her child, which she was supposed to be lit the whole house up ended up dying in a fire.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: It was not mutation at all.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: It was just a terrible, certainly terrible, unimportant unfortunate sequence of events.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: There's not enough to her origin to make it make sense for me about why she hates at this level.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: Number, you're reading the current Uncanny X-Men run by Gil Simone.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm reading like that's a piece of it.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: So with the very beginning, they introduced the character Sarah Gaunt, who's like the hag, who like her origin story is when Charles Xavier was young, he fucked me.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: But then years later, someone else gave me a baby and then that baby died.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: And so now I hate Charles Xavier and I want to hunt him down and kill him.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really weird, it's a hurricane Katrina story and she like bonds with the swamp.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a weird thing.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: The correlation between her origin and her deep hatred don't match for me.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: And that's like how the leopard queen fits.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, there's something missing from all of this.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: So we get the attacks in Westchester.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: Then she flies to Costa Rica to confront some mutants.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: And then she begs the apocalypse to be a horseman.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then, but that's kind of her whole story.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: She murders one man.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: And she, like, elbows, peepers in the face.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's kind of...
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: She's supposed to be so deadly and so scary, but she's just a burn victim with a mask and a gun and a whole lot of hate.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_02]: But let's talk about the literary analysis of this for a minute before we come up to her most recent appearances.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Let's proceed, which is now called Hansen's disease, is a chronic infectious disease caused by a bacteria.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: It primarily affects the skin peripheral nerves, eyes, and the lining of your respiratory system.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: Contrary to its very dramatic reputation, it's not highly contagious and it spreads very slowly typically through prolonged close contact with someone.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_02]: The most serious effects come from nerve damage, which can lead to a loss of sensation, muscle weakness, and untreated injuries that worsen over time.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: Today, it's fully treatable, it's a multi-drug therapy, and early diagnosis can prevent any long-term complications.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: But in modern and modern medical lay, it's less a curse and more like a manageable condition.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: Historically, however, people with leprosy were often pushed to the outer edges of society.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's that thing where like, let's put them all on an island somewhere.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: But physically and symbolically, the term leper became less of a diagnosis and more of like a societal identity marked by exclusion, right?
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like this person is dangerous.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: They must live in poverty with no resources, basically.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: So there are many cultures that have histories of establishing what they call leper colonies, which are isolated communities where those affected are required or encouraged to live apart from the general population.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: And these colonies were sometimes framed as protective measures, but they also reflect a deep fear and understanding.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: There was a place in Hawaii, which, like, has its own whole history.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: If you look up Calaopapa, it's really interesting.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: Isolation is not just geographic.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's emotional and cultural, but then we go to the Bible where leprosy is often used to carry symbolic weight as, like, the person who is most destitute, most pushed away from society.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's like,
- 33:27[SPEAKER_02]: leprosy kind of ranges for everything.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: It seems anyone who's like unpleen is like called a lepros somehow which kind of takes on the term of like a pariah or someone who no longer belongs.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: But this is the people that Jesus Christ in his like healing journey will reach out to.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: So he's willing to, like, go to the least of these, my brother.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: And if you use the biblical phrase and heal people with a touch and bring them back into society, but it's the culture or the people that are pushing them away that are the problem.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: So the leper becomes the pariah or thing to push away, but also, like, the great test of your Christianity in a way, if you look at it from like a Christlike attribute thing.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: want to be clear.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: I grew up in Sunday school and then teaching Sunday school.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_02]: I no longer like subscribe to Christian theology, but I have a lot of training and that's about that.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: I served a Mormon mission for two fucking years, but here's where it gets really interesting with this character because she's like almost the inverse of all of this.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: Where like real world lepers are marginalized, she's calling herself the leper while saying like mutants are unclean and need to be killed.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: She's like a burn victim, she's hiding her scars, but instead of isolating, she's now using this as her motivation to basically become a serial killer.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: So it's an interesting kind of flip the script.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't love the name of this character, if I'm honest, nor do I like the character at all.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like both like in reality and then typically it's seen as those who do need help and they do need care and live and support but here it's like almost for her it's used as like sort of like a like a misleading kind of
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: distraction.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: She's not in need of help.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: Although you could argue that she's using it to say she is helping or that because she's already like sick or whatever this is now her her job or her duty to protect the rest of humanity by you know eradicating the world of mutants.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think that like when we talk about like her
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: her weird mental state and how she just moves through not only like willing to like kill her team but those you know she infects with her ideology or that her truth I think um it just shows how twisted her own mine is you know taking on the name itself and you know as knowing what we know I'm sure she's also very aware of what this looks like and how it sounds too so
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think it for her is kind of like a shield or like a distraction tool to kind of mislead those around her from thinking that she is or should be untouchable.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: The other interesting thing I'm just realizing, they first call her daughter Lucy, but then later Lucy, and she's in Costa Rica, is this Latino woman?
- 36:02[SPEAKER_02]: We can't tell.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, not through the barons.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: I shouldn't have left.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: This is like a serious thing that she went through, but also she's terrible person.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: But also like is it true?
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: Did she set the fire herself?
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like you don't know?
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's so much about her at this point.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let me toss this theory out now really quickly and then here I'm comment.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_02]: Is this a character who was a mutant who lost her powers on M.D.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's the origin that makes sense to me.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: Because like what was his name with Amara when they were in the volcano?
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: That like guy Antonio who like burned up because he had fired.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's like these characters who like powers harmed them after they lost their immunity to the powers.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like I feel like she was the mutant and then she like like she burned herself.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's that's the read that made sense to me.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like she killed her child but her powers went out of control.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: and then on top of that her, like apparently according to Apocalypse in 1985, her begging to be a horsemen of Apocalypse, it sounds like at one point, maybe she was muted and she was devoted in some ways to Apocalypse, wanted to work for his end goal.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_00]: But now she is no longer wanted, but she is still on the outskirts of society because, hey, guess what?
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: Just like lepers, she was once somebody who has, like, what is considered a terrible disease.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: She feels like a leper and is hunting down mutants who still have their powers.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's the story that makes sense to me.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so jealous of you.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm so jealous of how's that belly?
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: Juicy, a lot like a leprosy sore.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that was too much.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take that to the right now.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Please, it was a wrap, it's time.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I had thoughts in regards to how Leprune's are shown in the Bible as being reached out to by Jesus.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: All the because I'm like, I really just started making me think of the Bible and how a lot of the messages of the Bible.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_00]: And so, what's the word?
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's weird.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, absolutely.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because you read so many of Jesus' stories and then he's like he's helping out the sick, the poor.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, honestly throwing the wealthy and rich and powerful out of church is out of these establishments.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: He is somebody who can definitely be looked up to you if you're actually reading the text and
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to say interpreting correctly because there are so many interpretations that you can take from you.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: This kind of old literature and everything, but at the end of the day it's like it's gotten so skewed these days that now.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: And why do we got to make it biblical because this woman fucking hung a mutant on a cross on the again.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, she's kind of terrible.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like she's one of those people who went to church and definitely got the wrong interpretation from the stories and the new testament if I'm going to be honest.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: So as shown in, it was not listening to the pastors.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: Not at all.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: Or the pastors themselves were giving a terrible interpretation of the text and does that happen?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: And some of these churches around the
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: country, especially in mega churches, Margo, I have seen constantly.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: So it's who knows what kind of messages that she was getting, especially again, if we go with this idea that she ends up muting, she could also have been told by the leader of her congregation that she is sick to form.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_00]: She shouldn't be anywhere near people with that power of Christ, maybe she can yield on it.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: And again, the Church of Humanity and the Purifiers are like the right and left of the fucking safety and league.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: So, okay, Numb, do you want to take us to her next section?
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: This is a course as a fashion, I think, assassination squad, poor wolves bane.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: So honestly, I'm going to start this off like I love this this X-force book.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorites.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: I know I shouldn't love the assassination squad, but I do like part of me does agree even though Aurora when she finds out about it is like we're going to have to talk about this.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: because this is inappropriate and wrong, but that's the same point.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let me get into this.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, X4 number three picks up in Guatemala, where the Lebra Queen and her scarred face are on display, she's strapped to an electric chair.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: There's an audience watching, and a preacher is there to give last rights.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of preachers, though I walk through the valley of death, I shall feel no evil.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: the guards are whispering.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's, I think she feared evil when she'd butcher that little girl, meaning girls were just came in.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: The sister isn't going to make it.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: The executioner speaks up.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: The prisoner has been found guilty of premeditated murder of a minor.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: Does the accused have any last words?
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: Which is really interesting that her daughter died and now she's on trial for killing children.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: The leprequene says, I regret that I was wrong.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: Last words, this is what she chooses.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: I regret that I will not see another mutant die.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: But before they flip the switch, a man with a gun took out all the guards.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: That per queen, you have been summoned.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: He hands her her mask by hoop, the Lord.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: She's then taken to Bastion.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to also preference this by saying that I love this entire like weird cobalt thing that he's got going on.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: This like my control infectious, it's crazy as a concept.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I, it's for me was a fun storytelling when I first read it.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: So Bastion, as if I give the 32nd really complicated origin, he's the mind of Stephen Lang, uploaded into the body of MasterMold, combined with the time traveling mutant hunter Nimrod from the future, passed through the siege perilous and altered into the form of a man who initially doesn't know his identity, but his program to hate mutants.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: He launches Operation Zero Tolerance,
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: And later, even though he's trying to kill mutants in this story, by involving Nimrods and all kinds of things, and the TechNark virus, which we'll get to.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_02]: Later, he comes back in that X-Men blue story and is like, now I have to use Sentinels to protect mutants so that they don't die off so that later I can come back and wipe them out.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's got some weird AI programming going on.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's a very weird character.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: We're in the cave, go ahead and up.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: Bastion has assembled a full army of anti mutants, the roster in this this includes great and creed the founder of the Friends of Humanity, with his mutant kill list at 147 Donald Pierce, leader of the reverse, his mutant kill list at 348, Steven Lang, the head of Project Armageddon, his mutant kill 29.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: And again, Steven Lang is part of Bastion, his mind, the AI version of Steven Lang is part of this man's programming, it's wild to me.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: Reverend William Striker, the archbishop of the Purifiers, has been killed as at 974, and then the Leprequin, the leader of the St. B. and Leigh, with her mutant kill as a 221.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: Kimmer Hodge, founder of the right, mutes killed 104.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, 178.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: And then Balabar Tras, the inventor of Sentinels, has been killed as at 16,521.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: So if I just go down the list really quickly, we have Grayden Creek, the Nepo baby, pretty boy, like political party guy, Donald Pierce, who's like the post-Mad Max, like Reaver Cyborg guy.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_02]: Steven Lang, who's the little, like fucking shitty Steven Miller character, William Stracker, who's like the leader of like the anti-gay church.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: The Leopard Queen Cameron Hodge, who's the gay far-right Republican, who literally has a group called the right with their faces painted in Reagan at ergonomic smiles and then ball of her trash, because the original like baby boomer murder guy.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: This is a wild roster of characters.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: It is jaya balkal that they're all together and I think and also like when I was reading it was like very scary because like these are all like the big bad, at least on the human side of like the X-Men like history.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: So like, all of them together, all of them under, you know, one kind of mindset or goal is terrifying, especially because it's also at this point, too.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: The meetings are so few.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: So them all coming together with this many, like, just about all of them, short of Steven Lane, have killed as meetings that are left on the globe.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: So like, that's terrifying.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: So Joe said that you're the way Bastion has done this is he's found like the Teknarch virus like Warlock and the Magus.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_02]: The failinx was the thing where we could infect humans and like take over their genome with the Teknarch virus and then weaponize them.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's found like a strain along with some magic that like allows these characters to be resurrected that they're completely under his control.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: So he's like an AI with like human puppets but also salines involved
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: That did sit to other X and stuff in a crochet, which is more messy.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, going on in this.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's so good.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love an accrosha tube, but like that's some crazy X and Z.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, jumping back into X force gets us to X force number six.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: X force starts hitting back against the resurrected villains.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: And issue seven, we see the villains moving towards our own plots.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: The leopard queen assembles the safety and the egg.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a new X shape Confederate flag on their sleeves.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're all white.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: You see what I mean?
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Racism, um, and then in issue 12, suicide leopard part 1, the leopard queen is the narrator in caption boxes.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: She says, it reminds me of another time when mutants were something you only heard about on TV before one of them destroyed my life, burning down everything I ever cared about.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: I was beautiful like this girl ones, and now she's going to die.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like the person I was died, a mutant will kill her, but it won't be a mutant's fault.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: space.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: So again, before one of the mutants destroyed my life, if she's the mutant and her own power destroyed her life, that's the reason that makes sense to me.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: But please continue.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: In aims, Iowa, the friends of Amanda, you're having a rally.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is what's at stake.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: Our future, our very way of life.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is what the mutant threat is.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: and grading creed is the one of the few brave to do anything about it.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's one of the few who will stand up to them.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's been targeted by means before, but he won't stop fighting for you.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: And when he arrives, grading creed will tell you about the friends of humanity.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: He'll tell you about the listed means the government has, how they know where they are.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: But when the rally isn't erupted, beautiful dreamer rushes into the rally, glowing with psychic energy.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: No one listens to her cries for help.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: She's been taken and injected with a serum that is making her powers go out of control.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: After she blows at, Yikes, 12, 100 people will die, and the meetings will be blank.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: And all of these, and the title of this story, again, is the suicide lover, okay.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: All these people are going to die.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to die, and it means hands, and it's my fault.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: We found the Phil's traveling west through St. Louis, headed to San Francisco.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's where they're kind to live now.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: So this is during the utopia age, where they've all now gotten to asteroid M and they live on the island just off the coast of San Francisco.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: So they sent out a second call.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, M and Scott, do to bring all the mutants there.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: I should have killed it right then and there.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: I should have killed myself with her.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: 1100 means, or 1100 humans, excuse me, dead.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: All them murdered by me.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: My name is Aleppo Queen, I kill mutants.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: And this, this is wrong.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think her recognition of what she's doing at this point because she's been killing mutants now, but they're staging it to look like mutants or such a big threat until in humans goes against her overarching principles.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's a very interesting perspective.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: small-minded people blaming all their problems on mutants, lose their jobs, lose their girlfriend, I'm mutants to blame.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's sad, but it makes them easy to use.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: They have no idea what the mutants are capable of.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: They haven't even seen the face of a pop-lips like I have.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Pod just probably making the anti-mutant power sent serum in a barrel.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: By the barrel, excuse me, he's one of us.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: One of his were given a face and a location.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: And we abduct the mutants and check them and turn them loose into specific place in time.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: Part of his master plan quote unquote.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: Please, if there's a god, let me die.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, here, I think it's very interesting to see that she's kind of regretting her involvement in all of this because she knows that her role is having humans die instead of me.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: She reminds me of so people that are going to answer you, though.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, she was in the electric chair, ready to die for her hatred.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: And then yanked out and is now being used as a tool against her will to kill humans.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_02]: Now she's begging for death, like I can't, and it's interesting.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: They next release the new fever pitch at a similar rally in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, killing hundreds more.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: And the next means lined up are the X-Men trainees, Boom Boom, Helion, and Surge.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: Bye, baby.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: And suddenly, the X and seemed to give that shit, which, for me, is also very frustrating because if you talk about them more locks earlier, I'm like, you should be there protecting all the mutants, like get it together guys.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_02]: Beautiful dreamer and fever pitch were literally two of the mutants sleeping out in the lawn while the X men stayed inside.
- 48:28[UNKNOWN]: Good, good.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, Xworth's attacks and starts slaughtering members of the safety and league, who will bring things up as the bottom of the barrel.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: But the leprequine has a serious, or sorry, a serious two-boo looms break.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, more step in the girl lives up to her coat name.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Domino then tells her, you're dead, you know that, right?
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, die, killing you, not one of my own kind.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: She's got her mask off.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: And as manager just arms her, he says, honey, you should have stuck with the mask.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's not a commercial class or a class.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_02]: This is the same story line if you guys remember where they're keeping vansher like in the team against his will because like elixir did like tumour later.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_02]: So fix is the tumour but vansher still has syphilis.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then I didn't you fix the syphilis and elixir's like I didn't give you the syphilis funny.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: Earthless, the entire operation is ruthless.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: So Wolverine, who's covered blood, then pence her down.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: And she screams at him to do it, kill me.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: They've saved Boom Boom, but the other two have been taken to the United Nations, the other two being a hellian in search.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: So the team gets teleport away against their well, leaving Boom at the at the end of Leopard Queen's God.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: He won't let me kill myself.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: Bash him won't let me die.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh god, please help me.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're supposed to kill me to save you.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: They failed us about she shoots boom boom The boom was dead on the panel, but in a year 17 X first was traveling back through time and Laura Kenny gets back there before the developer queen can kill boom and shoots her three times.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: Two in the chest and one in the head In her final words, huh?
- 49:53[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: If she falls dead, as boom them goes, that's messed up.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: At the United Nations, Bashin is speaking through the mouths of Stephen laying in ball of our trash outside of a white in a white van, the saving league has surge and hellian bound and ready to be injected inside the biggest or all claiming that means want to kill humans just for being human, every mutant is dangerous, then surge attacks against her well.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: Wolverine shows up and just hacks them all to pieces.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then we see the sapien league a few times.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_02]: Again, the leper queen is dead here.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: She wanted to die, but the sapien league shows up in X-Men's second coming number one.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: Bastion takes over the league and sends them to kill the baby, hope summers, who's prophesied to reignite the mutant gene.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're all wearing hockey masks now, and they're all like honoring her.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: This is where the sapien league takes back the planet for humanity, and the X-Men just kicked their fucking asses.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_02]: Later, they decide to fold the sapient league into the roster of the purifiers.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: If it's shit, let's put the crazy in the religious crazies.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: And uncanny X-Men 523, we see the sapient.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: One sapient league guy begging to be spared, but Wolverine kills him and is like buddy, we're at war.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: And that crawler's like, how dare you?
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: You just murdered a man begging for mercy.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: X-Men Legacy 235, the Sapiens try to kill Hope again, and their members include men named Pasquale and Doby.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: But the X-Men including Sebastian Shaw, kick their asses, this time in a trailer part in Nebraska.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: They show up in X-Men blind science number one.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: We're grading creed as leading them in a fight against the science club as they try to get their hands on Kavita Rousen mutant cure, but their ship gets blown up in the end.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: We go to uncanny X-Men
- 51:29[SPEAKER_02]: before Krikoa.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: Mutants are kind of a dying breed and most of the X-Men are gone.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: And Cyclops and Wolverine find multiple groups waiting to attack them in the winter on the grounds of the abandoned Xavier mansion.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_02]: The Revers, the Purifiers, the Sapien League, and they again do is that their asses kicked.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then weirdly, they're in Avengers and you will volume four number one where they like I don't know they're like going with the times and now they've declared war against everything like we hate robots aliens and mutants all of them and they use their guns to go after a robot kid who just got the soul stone and named himself multitude it's a weird place for them to show up, but they've like updated their branding a little bit that's it for this opinion that's all that we've seen of these characters nothing really during cracoa
- 52:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, what do you thought from the assassination squad era as we're looking at it with this newer lens?
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: I know I should, but I love them.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think I love them so much because like it is a time like I understand their their purpose.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: I understand Logan's his ideology essentially behind why the team should exist to go out and to essentially protect in the most ruthless and lethal way.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: The remaining mutants, I mean, there's no guarantee that hope will come back for them at this point.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then later, when hope does return, it's now like for him, it is, I'm going to do everything I can.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: My team is going to do everything we can to make sure that she is safe and make sure that she gets back home.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand like the general consensus, like, excellent don't kill.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_00]: And like, I more at least am behind that, but I do love the team.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're wacky.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're crazy.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think that
- 53:08[SPEAKER_01]: they are so just ruthless in what they do, but at times like almost necessary.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think that they do a lot of like really shady stuff, though.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think the secrets then come back to kind of bite them in the behind, but...
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: For the low amount of their appearances, there are some brutal stories like we're going to burn Urga live on the on the mansion grounds like the blade de Lorna's throat murdering little girls right and then they're going to the electric chair at a foreign country and then we get that like weaponized virus beautiful dreamers death uh ironically we're recording this the same week I was I released my beautiful dreamer episode with Erica Schultz and Patricia of all of America if you want to hear more of our thoughts on this story.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_02]: uh but uh but this character's death uh brutal just really painfully brutal uh i don't know uh how am i doing?
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: i've done pretty good for one thing.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_00]: no i love listening to your analysis in regards to like that particular team of xmen because i'm gonna be honest when a when a group is persecuted as much as the mutants they are very much in minority group.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of
- 54:15[SPEAKER_00]: back.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_00]: You should have proved the point that the majority is trying to make against you or this loud, bigative voice is trying to make against you, but it's also like at a point then you're allowing for your deaths to continue.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_00]: You're allowing for these people that are more people around you continue to die.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes you kind of do need a team to go out and do what must be necessary.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: What is necessary to protect?
- 54:40[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, I also have to note here because I didn't say it before.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just Logan's decision to form this team.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, we talk about it.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's Scott and Logan.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: They make the decision together.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: And this is like a military general era, yeah.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: And he, they both keep the secret because Scott's like, no, I need a team to go out and handle business because now we can't we can't we don't have a luxury of the non violence of being heroes anymore.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: And through astonishingly we saw an astonishingly that was their goal.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: It was like we're going to move away from the black.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: leather we're going to jump back into being super heroes like that was the goal but then after M day that really changed everything for him and so he had to really buckle down and there is no at this point Charles Xavier's not around to kind of manage anything.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: Scott's like nope this is my team it's my decision it's what I'm doing and I'm going to make tough choices.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's such a weird era for Wolverine too, who's like just kind of memories back, but also like his clone slash daughter Laura is around now.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_02]: So by the time Beast gets to run the CIA assassination squad on Krico, it's a very different bias.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_02]: story I would love to tell, and if I ever get to write X-Men comics, these are the types of stories I would love to write.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say I get like an annual.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: The leper queen is is resurrected on cricoa, and there's the big revelation that she was imbuted all along, but she hates mutants.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_02]: and she's resurrected in her normal body that she immediately goes and burns her face, right?
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like she's doing awful things, they isolate her somewhere with some sort of awful villain to try to teach her a lesson and maybe see if she can be redeemed and there's a weird psychological story about her trying to escape.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_02]: I've got some ideas, I don't want to give it all away, but this would be an interesting exploration for this character who at the end has to choose a different codename because let's face it.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_02]: That is not.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a good codename at the end of the day.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_02]: The religious themes in hatred and then the far right-leaning themes in hatred that we so consistently see in our threats of the X-Men is so fascinating to watch.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's the ergonomics, it's the purifiers, it's the skinheads, it's the far religious right on.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_02]: This is a character I do not like, but I do think there's some very interesting potential if we get to the truth of her story.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: Some were along the way.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_02]: The writers didn't finish what they planned to do with her though.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like that seems very clear to me.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: I sometimes wonder if the reason that we didn't get much left on her because the writer switched
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: around this and room as well.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, was there a hand off in editorial during the sun?
- 57:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's what I always noticed whenever a story reminds some of me drops for a character that's something up top got switched.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_00]: Let's have a...
- 57:23[SPEAKER_00]: I guess not.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_02]: So her initial appearance is a decimation into the X-Men books up through 180, it's Peter Milligan writing and by the time she comes back for the apocalypse story, it's still milligan.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_02]: So like the initial stuff is all milligan and then she's not used again and then in X-Force, that's the Craig Kyle and Chris Yost series but like a few years have gone by by that point.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_02]: editorial, narrative changes, events getting launched.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of things that can hijack a narrative for sure.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_00]: There, fair.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, otherwise, I would definitely like to see this character come back with a little bit more depth at it.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure because I do think there's something there.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_00]: They're like what you were just pitching a couple moments ago.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_00]: I do think that would make the character a little bit more juicy a little bit.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: I can't say something that one guy that you make
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh my god.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know who's juicy.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_02]: His juicy is dead.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_01]: No juicy.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: Green bubbly like.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: You look so much like a bugger with hearts.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's so dead.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's a run and stupid character.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_02]: I hate that character.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I think that I would like clarity of her just background and like a true story like even if it's like a one shot or something I think it would be interesting to see that she was secretly immune the whole time that lost her powers and then you know They chose either to resurrect or not I would like the story to end with her being thrown into the pit though just like in the pit with you to drag down by the vines
- 59:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there's another interesting read on this where like she's not the mutant on her daughter wasn't the mutant, but the baby's father was a mutant like there's some interesting potential like we need to give her a reason to fucking hate everything so much if her kill count is so high I don't know that I need clarity I need I need just a understanding of what we're dealing with yeah and she's yeah she's not she's in that bag
- 59:33[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you enjoyed the conversation this month under the theme of the only girl on the team.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to finish the month out next week with the character that both of you were going to be mad at me for not inviting you out.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_02]: I apologize in advance.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing tattoo from kid kid omega's like omega gang.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_02]: She is a single black female.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: We have a lot of love for her in our next episode.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: And then in June on the show, we're going to be a focused on Black Tom Cassidy, which is going to be a really fun journey as well.

- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_02]: My book, Game Woman Dad, is officially out at the time of this show's release.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: So if you have not read it or ordered it, it's excellent.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not just saying that because it's a product I produced.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's really, really good.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's beautiful.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_02]: I just got my first print copy and I am so moved how beautifully it turned out.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_02]: So I would love to see your support.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna be doing some of the concert at June through September.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'll post announcements about where I'm gonna be.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_02]: But follow the show at Greenmonton, Under Score Lane.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I'd love to hear your thoughts on my book.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_02]: If you've checked it out, please leave it a review.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_02]: That would be wonderful.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pleased.

- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: where we talk a lot about just a lot of media in general, especially in the mirror spaces from a black and queer point of view.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_00]: We're helping to have guests on when we get really up and running and we're going to just have our first conversations, mostly going to be on Spider-Man and the authenticity of comic to movie adaptations.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, be able to go.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well everyone, you can find me on all socials at number one X-Men cosplay.

- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know that I will be at BigLick here in the DMV at the end of May.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_02]: Trust me, I'll leave you to see you both.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_02]: I love hanging out anytime and every time.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_02]: Can't wait to do so again.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_02]: Let's make some plans.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think one of the things, they're fucking episode.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_00]: I can give you a rundown.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_00]: I have a need more context for this.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_00]: So what are we doing?
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, I'm always happy to go over the slideshow and essay that I made that I pitched to everybody in a hotel room that I have around me whenever I'm at a convention and staying with other people.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, why didn't you submit a panel this year?
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to need and I'm going to see this.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's not it's not so complicated.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_02]: For example, we're wolf by night.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_02]: Very, very fuckable.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_02]: Go straight or not.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_02]: So much.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's not not Johnny Blaze, but the spirit itself is definitely a fuckable.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think something can be done there.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely not.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's just something about the fist though that puts you off.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_02]: The fist is fucking gay.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, it's not going to work.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't feel like that's a...
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_02]: Magnet, dating gay devil, what?
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, y'all.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_02]: I love you, Bull, very much.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for hanging with me.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, everybody, for listening.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you have some thoughts about the leopard queen.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then better go like the rest of us did.
