- 0:02Welcome to Mommy Wood, the podcast where motherhood meets
- 0:06Hollywood. Real moms, real talk, no
- 0:09scripts. I'm your host, Emily Bolt, and
- 0:12we are talking about the messy, funny and unfiltered side of
- 0:16being a mom in the entertainment industry.
- 0:19Today's guest is someone you probably already know, but if
- 0:23for some reason you don't yet, you are about to.
- 0:27She's a vlogger, a beauty lover for a foodie, and a mom whose
- 0:31life has been watched by millions, literally.
- 0:35With over 2 million followers on TikTok, nearly 200,000 on
- 0:40Instagram, and a wildly loyal YouTube community, she's become
- 0:43one of the most relatable and beloved mom creators on the
- 0:47Internet. I love her as well.
- 0:51I'm such a fan. But what really makes her
- 0:54special is what she's done beyond the screen of social
- 1:00media. She has taken her community that
- 1:02she's built online and turned it into something real.
- 1:05Launching her Mom's Meet Up Club in Columbus, OH, which is a
- 1:10space where moms can actually show up, make friends and feel
- 1:14less alone in this craziness of life.
- 1:18She is a mom of two little boys. She has been so open and honest
- 1:23and just a open book about the ups and downs of her journey.
- 1:30And now she is remarried and she is showing what's possible when
- 1:35you keep choosing yourself, your kids, your joy.
- 1:41And this was such an incredible conversation.
- 1:45I really related to her on so many things, so her honesty and
- 1:52candor is just so refreshing. She brings honesty, warmth,
- 1:58humor, and heart to like everything she does.
- 2:01And today we're getting into motherhood, beauty, community,
- 2:05and what it looks like to build a life that you truly love.
- 2:11This was such a fun chat. I've said, I said many times in
- 2:18this interview that I I wish I was in Columbus sometimes and I
- 2:22wish she could move to LA and we could be best friends.
- 2:26You're gonna love her if you don't already.
- 2:30You're about to. This is Mommy would with Katie
- 2:36Santry. Yay.
- 2:37Hey, Katie Santry. I'm so it is Santry, right?
- 2:40That's how you. Yes.
- 2:41Yeah. Maybe it was like Santry.
- 2:44You know, I wish it was fancier, but no.
- 2:47My last name is Bolt, so I get it.
- 2:49It's yeah, not fancy. I'm so excited to chat with you,
- 2:55a fan girl over here. Love your content and just you
- 3:01in general, but for people who I don't know who would not be
- 3:06familiar with you, you have literally millions of followers.
- 3:10But can you kind of, we're gonna start with like just who Katie
- 3:18is 'cause I know you're in Ohio now.
- 3:21Were you originally from Columbus?
- 3:24I know you that you were in LA for a bit.
- 3:28Let's do a little Yeah. Where did Katie start out?
- 3:32A little history lesson. So I'm from Erie, PA originally,
- 3:39and then my sister and I had started making YouTube videos
- 3:43when we were in school and YouTube it like just I'm 35 S
- 3:46like YouTube was fresh and yeah, we had found the Jonas Brothers
- 3:53on Myspace. Like I know I'm aging myself
- 3:56here, but like that's it is. I'm older than you so I'll OK.
- 4:02So yeah, we had found the Jonas Brothers on Myspace and luckily
- 4:05my mom was like a like, hair band hung out on like the tour
- 4:11bus with Guns and Roses. So like she was so all about
- 4:14like getting us our like concert experience.
- 4:18So they were playing a free mall show.
- 4:21So we like drove there the night before, camped out, did the
- 4:25whole thing for no reason. It was free.
- 4:27Like, I don't know what we were thinking, but we ended up
- 4:29getting like meet and greets and like meeting them and telling
- 4:33them that we had like a website calledjonasbrothersfan.com and
- 4:36we were doing these YouTube videos and we were like, could
- 4:39we interview you and like do it, put it on our YouTube channel.
- 4:43So that's like really when this started.
- 4:46And there's, it's so funny because I disappeared for a long
- 4:48time off of the interwebs while I like got married, had kids and
- 4:53then coming back, so many people were like, Oh my God.
- 4:56Like they remembered me from the OG JS.
- 4:59So it's been like so fun, like reconnecting with people who
- 5:02Remember Me from back then. So yeah, it was like I was a
- 5:06YouTube when I was in high school and we were travelling so
- 5:11much that I had to be homeschooled.
- 5:13So we were like, yeah, so we were interviewing Jonas Brothers
- 5:17all the time, Demi Lovato. And then we were on like the
- 5:20Hannah Montana movie red carpet premiere, and we were in New
- 5:24York and the Jonas Brothers took us to the Bahamas and we went to
- 5:28the. Yeah, Oh my God.
- 5:31OK I do not no previous Katie. So now I'm like the lore excuse.
- 5:38Me, yeah. That's incredible.
- 5:41Yeah, wow. So you that's a OK, so
- 5:46especially with YouTube being like newer back then, which is
- 5:56not that long ago. OK everyone let's settle down.
- 5:58But that must have been so wild for you with like friends and
- 6:05stuff or even just like explaining what you were doing
- 6:08and the idea of like having to get out of school.
- 6:14Did my sister also. Yeah, I was 16, my sister was 14
- 6:18when we started. And so we were from a super
- 6:22small town and a lot like pretty much everybody was mean to us.
- 6:26It was like, it was jealousy, like, obviously, and I knew that
- 6:30at the time. But my sister has a very
- 6:32different personality than me and it was really hard for her.
- 6:36Even teachers would like, pull our YouTube videos up in class
- 6:39to like, make fun of us. Yes.
- 6:43Can you admit a small town live in for you?
- 6:45I know. So wait, I'm really.
- 6:47Swear on this podcast. Yes, yes, you're good.
- 6:49OK. So fucked.
- 6:51Can you imagine though? Now like none of that would fly.
- 6:56That's. No.
- 6:57Wild. I think that also now you would
- 7:00probably get more people obviously like jealous but also
- 7:04trying to be like can I? Oh yeah, it would be such a
- 7:08different experience in school now because everyone wants to be
- 7:11a tech talker. Everybody want like it wasn't a
- 7:13thing. It was like the beginning time.
- 7:15It was like Jenna Marble was we had more followers than her.
- 7:19Like, like we were starting at Yeah, we were the, we were the
- 7:23beginning of YouTube. I'm going to have to like go
- 7:26back and watch. No, I it's.
- 7:28Some of it's so embarrassing. Oh my God.
- 7:30Well, Oh my, can I cannot imagine.
- 7:32That's one of the things I'm like grateful that I mean, I had
- 7:36a phone when I started driving, I guess, but it I like barely
- 7:42was even texting like that one, but to be able to that's one of
- 7:50the things I'm like I'm glad that I didn't have like.
- 7:53The sort of a footprint, yeah. Because I would have been like,
- 7:58because I was a musical theater nerd, so I would have been such
- 8:02a loser. Yeah, making like Glee videos
- 8:05and posting them on YouTube. Just singing and dancing.
- 8:09I love it. But it's a nice little like Time
- 8:12Capsule. Wait, so you were like already
- 8:15making income then? Yeah.
- 8:18And then I moved to LA when I was 19 because this whole thing
- 8:23had like blown up. So now we have Jonas Brothers
- 8:26fan.com, we have demilovato.com, Justin Bieber Fever, We have all
- 8:30these little websites that are living under.
- 8:32So we called it Fan Gap. And so my sister and I were at
- 8:35the gap between the fans and the celebrities because and like our
- 8:38we did so good because we were just as excited as the fans.
- 8:43Like we're the same. It wasn't like watching Ryan
- 8:45Seacrest interview the Jonas Brothers, like he doesn't give a
- 8:47shit. It was girls who like have their
- 8:50posters in their room. Like, so our reactions were
- 8:53exactly how anybody who was watching would have reacted.
- 8:56And so, like, it's interesting now being older, being able to
- 8:58look back because I used to be like, we're we're not even good
- 9:01at this. Like, why are why do people
- 9:02like, love watching us? But now I get it.
- 9:05Yeah. You're watching yourself as
- 9:08like, yeah, like, yeah. So we did that.
- 9:12And then Mr. Jonas, the Jonas Brother's dad, he was starting a
- 9:16business called Cambio, and so it was going to be kind of like
- 9:19what we were doing. And he hired me to move to LA
- 9:22when I was 19. And yeah, I moved in with
- 9:26Tiffany Thornton. She was tawny on Sunny with a
- 9:29chance. So I'd interviewed her and I,
- 9:31like, tweeted that I was moving to LA and I was looking for an
- 9:33apartment. She, like, tweets me back.
- 9:35She's like, moving with me. And I was like, what?
- 9:38OK. That's wild.
- 9:41So, well, so then you kind of started that obviously like as a
- 9:47kid was there like, because I know it's different, like
- 9:54wanting like growing up, like wanting to be an actor or
- 9:57wanting to be, you know, whatever.
- 9:59Was there something specific that you were like, oh, this is
- 10:04what I want to be, Although that's hard because it kind of
- 10:07happened. For you, I wanted to be Ryan
- 10:09Seacrest. I like I would say it all the
- 10:12time. I was going to, I was going to
- 10:14go to college for communication PR.
- 10:17I had always wanted to be Ryan Seacrest, whatever that meant to
- 10:22me. Like at the time, I don't even
- 10:24really know, but that's like what I used to tell people.
- 10:28So then I couldn't go away to school though, because my sister
- 10:31was still, because she was younger than me.
- 10:33We were doing it together. So then I had to like not move
- 10:36to Pittsburgh for college like I planned on.
- 10:38I had a roommate and everything and I ended up just doing local
- 10:41college. And thankfully for my mom, which
- 10:43I think a lot of parents wouldn't do, but she said she
- 10:46was like, college will always be there, this opportunity won't
- 10:49like don't go and like what parent tells the kid not to go
- 10:52to college? But I want to.
- 10:54I feel like now it's kind of like, that's definitely, yeah,
- 11:01more unheard of back then. Sure.
- 11:04And of course I, I think of that too, because I'm like, I don't,
- 11:07I would want my daughter to go to college, but like, you know,
- 11:10it's literally a bajillion dollars.
- 11:12Like who? Most people aren't even using
- 11:14their degree like. Yeah, and now I don't have.
- 11:16Student debt experience, but it's like I'm not going to pay,
- 11:20you know, 30 grand a year for to have a roommate like I.
- 11:25Yeah, it's. Tricky but good for your mom.
- 11:28That's like a big picture of her to do that.
- 11:33So then how was the like the trickle out effect of that then?
- 11:39Cuz was it more because your sister was younger or did things
- 11:43just like die down? Or was there like a choice of
- 11:47like the taking the break and all that?
- 11:50Yeah, like I so I moved to LA when I was 19.
- 11:55I lived there. I did big red carpets, sets of
- 11:58music videos, TV shows, like I was doing it all feel.
- 12:00Like I am Ryan Seacrest. Yeah, I was, I was the living
- 12:04dream of exactly what I wanted to do.
- 12:06And then so I did that for like a little over a year.
- 12:09And then while I was there, like my parents got divorced and my
- 12:12three younger siblings were back home having like a really hard
- 12:15time and I missed my boyfriend. And like, just like I was so
- 12:20young. Not that I would change it
- 12:21because like I have my kids and everything now, but in
- 12:25hindsight, I should have stayed. Like I just got very like
- 12:30emotional and 19 and or, you know, at that point I'm 21 and I
- 12:35was like, I miss my boyfriend, who I'm obviously not with now,
- 12:39And my siblings though definitely like having a hard
- 12:42time with my parents getting divorced.
- 12:43I was like, yeah, I just feel like I shouldn't be here doing
- 12:47this when like my family's crumbling back home.
- 12:49Like I should be at home so. Here and I feel like that's, you
- 12:54know, a hard thing even like as we grow up too, or it's like
- 13:00with career and family where it's like you the the balancing
- 13:05of it, where it's like, well, do I do this and leave for a bit or
- 13:10stay like it's yeah, always that.
- 13:13But it was a radio DJ. When I came home, so I was like,
- 13:16I'm still in the entertainment. Like I was a radio DJ for a Top
- 13:2040 station. So I was like still Living by
- 13:22Ryan Seacrest Dream, but on a smaller scale.
- 13:24So I thought I would stay in it for longer.
- 13:27But I did that for like a year, and then I was burned out,
- 13:29honestly, yeah. So then what brought you back to
- 13:35the social media? Yeah, like So what?
- 13:3915 years later like rug story. Yeah, that really blew up.
- 13:46Yeah, I started posting so 2020, I was like Insta posting a
- 13:51little and I got to like 5000 followers because my husband at
- 13:55the time and I, we owned restaurants and they were all
- 13:58closed. I was just bored out of my mind.
- 14:02I just had my first miscarriage. And so I was just like trying to
- 14:06entertain myself. And I've always obviously like,
- 14:09liked interacting and social and all those kinds of things.
- 14:12So it's like, oh, let me like be an Instagrammer.
- 14:15And then that I just stopped doing that.
- 14:19And then I had Fast forward. So that's 20/20/2024.
- 14:23I have my second miscarriage and for I don't know why the
- 14:26miscarriage is the thing that prompts me back to the Internet,
- 14:30because that's why I started making Tik Toks again.
- 14:32It's like I need like, yeah, I don't know.
- 14:36Like, I, I feel like I don't want to burden the people in my
- 14:41life with just talking about it over and over.
- 14:45So I'll talk to the phone and I'm getting all of my things out
- 14:50and I'm not like annoying the people, not that they would
- 14:54truly probably be annoyed with me, but it feels that way.
- 14:58So I just started making content about miscarriage, trying to get
- 15:02pregnant again. It just all the things.
- 15:04And then I found a rug six weeks later after I started posting
- 15:08for the first time, and I went from a few followers to 2
- 15:12million. That's so wild.
- 15:16So it was like you found this rug that was buried in your
- 15:19backyard and it so people were just like following this whole
- 15:25story and figuring out where this rug if is there a dead body
- 15:29who does all of these things? That's so wild.
- 15:33What? Just like?
- 15:35I know. Licks and catches on.
- 15:37So from there, how do you go that's such well, I guess you're
- 15:43use you were you had had the experience of having.
- 15:48Yeah. Following and stuff.
- 15:50Yeah, different having this following like this big
- 15:56following all of a sudden as an adult.
- 15:58Yeah, it definitely. I think I'm very lucky in that
- 16:02if I hadn't had the experience from when I was younger, I think
- 16:05it would have been way harder. But because I had lived in this
- 16:11realm before, I kind of was like, OK, I can figure this out,
- 16:17but I didn't really know what to do with it.
- 16:18So I thought I needed to stay with spooky things.
- 16:21And I was starting like a ghost story podcast.
- 16:24And I was like telling ghost stories that were submitted to
- 16:29me online. And I thought that was where I
- 16:31needed to stay. And then I got pregnant two
- 16:34months later and I was like, I'm just going to talk about my life
- 16:40and talk about being pregnant. And then it's kind of morphed
- 16:43into what it is now, which is a much better, more comfortable
- 16:46space than me. Just like being a spooky
- 16:48storyteller. As much as I love the spook like
- 16:51it, I didn't want that to be like, oh Katie Santry is just
- 16:54like the girl talks about ghost stories.
- 16:56Yeah, well, I love it. I love, I mean, I love your
- 17:00ghost story, but I love your content and just the fact that
- 17:04you're so open about everything, which I feel like is such a hard
- 17:12thing because of course, especially with Instagram,
- 17:16everything like being so like picture perfect and we're
- 17:21definitely kind of getting out of that.
- 17:25But like, that's so hard, 'cause I still, I'm like, I'm gonna use
- 17:31a filter for it's like that type of stuff where it's like so hard
- 17:36to just like be yourself and share all of the parts with you,
- 17:42especially after, after becoming a mom and being like, wait, who
- 17:48am I? What am I doing?
- 17:50Like all of that stuff. So did you feel like after you
- 17:55became a mom? And, and obviously I'm so sorry
- 17:58that you had that, that you've struggled with all of that.
- 18:03And but I'm, I'm sure so many people, obviously, so many
- 18:07people can relate to your story with miscarriage and all of
- 18:11that. Like after becoming a mom, did
- 18:16you feel like parts of you like obviously, but that there are
- 18:23certain parts of you that kind of disappeared or like changed
- 18:28or what? Something about like surprised
- 18:30you most about how like motherhood changed you If if it
- 18:35if it did. So my mom was a stay at home mom
- 18:39and she lived and breathed for us.
- 18:43She was the PTO president, she was the soccer coach, she was my
- 18:46Girl Scout leader. She was she, she did the talent
- 18:50show, she did all the things. And I took so much from that,
- 18:56good and bad, and that she was so involved in like we were her
- 19:01world, which is great to an extent, but like we were it.
- 19:06She she fully lost her own identity and she was just mom.
- 19:12And so when I went into having my first son, I knew that I
- 19:18wanted to stay Katie and not only be mom.
- 19:22And that is like my biggest goal in that biggest goal, I guess in
- 19:29motherhood. But like, just as a human, it's
- 19:31like, I'm still just a girl and I still want to exist outside of
- 19:36motherhood. And so like when I see people
- 19:39who've never left their kids overnight and like, I do all of
- 19:44that. And I, there's some people who
- 19:45probably look at that they're like, oh, if she didn't want to
- 19:48have kids, Like just, it's not that I, I love, I'm obsessed by
- 19:56sons, but like, I want to still live my life.
- 20:01And I don't think that we have to give that up just because we
- 20:03have kids and we become moms. Like I think that they can
- 20:06coexist and I can be Katie and I can be mom.
- 20:08And that to me has been like the biggest learning experience and
- 20:13like balancing that, especially like I got divorced when my son
- 20:17was 1. And so it's been a lot of a lot
- 20:22of learning, but one of my biggest things is like
- 20:25maintaining self identity. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:28I feel like I was almost surprised.
- 20:35And I feel like I don't hear this kind of side of it more.
- 20:40Obviously yours was also intentional.
- 20:43But when we hear, you know, we hear so much about motherhood
- 20:47where they're like, I'm a new human, like I'm a mom now.
- 20:52My like, I've changed to my core and like all of these like big
- 20:58ideas that I don't know what I thought was gonna happen when I
- 21:01became a mom that I was like scared to be like, oh, I'm gonna
- 21:07change. And then I did not where I'm
- 21:13like now I just have another human that I love and I'm
- 21:17obsessed with. But I'm like, oh I still have
- 21:21the same thoughts and the same once and the same goal.
- 21:23Yeah, I still want to travel like I still want to go drop it
- 21:26low at a bar once in a blue moon.
- 21:28Like I still, I'm still that same.
- 21:30Like I still say shit like nothing.
- 21:33I'm still the same person. So I feel the same way.
- 21:35Like people like it completely changed me.
- 21:37I'm like I disagree. I don't know if that's good or
- 21:41bad but like I still very much hold true to myself and who I
- 21:46was before I was a mom. Well, we're together on that.
- 21:49I'm glad. There must be other people that.
- 21:51Yeah, we can't be alone. Yeah, Or even when people are
- 21:57like, I don't know if it's just when people are like, I never
- 22:04knew I could love like this or like being a parent has changed
- 22:10me in a way that like I didn't know was possible.
- 22:14And I think that was also a huge thing for me where I'm like,
- 22:19again, I was like, I don't know what I thought was just going to
- 22:21like change me completely. So then I felt like there was
- 22:26something wrong with me where when I was like, I feel the
- 22:29same. And I don't feel like there was
- 22:31a 180, so I was expecting to love my daughter as much.
- 22:38Yeah, I love her. Like, I don't know what people
- 22:41expect beforehand. So I was like, I don't, I don't.
- 22:47Yeah, someone like I killed everyone for my kid, but like, I
- 22:52knew that going into it. Like that's the I wasn't shocked
- 22:54at how much I love him. Like I would do anything,
- 22:58anything on earth for him. Like, but I knew that, yeah, but
- 23:02I, yeah, I mean, but I watched like, like I said, a very
- 23:05involved mom who loved the shit out of us.
- 23:09And so I just. And I like when I was a kid,
- 23:12like I was in second grade, it's like, what do you want to be
- 23:14when you grow up? A mom?
- 23:15Like, that's what I used to say. So I always knew that I wanted
- 23:21to like love on my babies, but definitely like still stay
- 23:26myself. Yeah.
- 23:27Oh my gosh, that's sweet. And you're, I forgot to start
- 23:31off, but you have two boys. What are their names and ages?
- 23:36So Austin's four and 1/2. He'll be five in May, which is
- 23:39so crazy. And then Landon is gonna be 5
- 23:42months in like a week and 1/2. I was just gonna say I was like,
- 23:45you have a very new one. So first of all, thank you for
- 23:50giving big here. I'm like, that's that you're,
- 23:56you're like in. I mean, as parents we're always
- 23:59in the thick of it, but yeah. Five, I have two step kids too.
- 24:04Oh, right, yes, and. How old are?
- 24:06They. 15 and 12:00 So we have a high schooler and a newborn.
- 24:12In our house, you're just ranging it because you're your
- 24:15husband now was married also. Yeah.
- 24:18So that's that's kind of nice of what you were talking one of
- 24:22your posts recently about like how you know now or after you
- 24:29got divorced. You're like, oh, I'm very
- 24:32specific about like what I want in.
- 24:35Oh yeah. How did and you started dating
- 24:40pretty soon after your divorce. But what would you say was
- 24:47harder? Like the divorce or like the
- 24:52time after? I feel like for most women, or
- 24:57at least this is like me and I assume like we like mentally
- 25:01divorce before we actually do it.
- 25:04So even though like on paper like I was quickly dating, like
- 25:10we separated in June and I met my now husband in October.
- 25:16So like there's only a few months in between that, but
- 25:20Christmas like end of the year before that.
- 25:23So like for a solid 6 months I knew.
- 25:28And it's crazy because if we had never had kids, we probably
- 25:31would have been married forever. Everything for me was when we
- 25:36had our son, he just could not look outside of himself or put
- 25:46other people ahead of his own needs.
- 25:48And I was single moming while I was married and I was like what
- 25:52the why am I cleaning up after this baby and my husband?
- 25:56Like this is fucking stupid. And there's so many women though
- 25:59who like are in that boat and they'll stay married forever and
- 26:03like couldn't be me. I just knew that there had to be
- 26:06better and like I there was no reason that I would have to be
- 26:09miserable like this for the rest of time.
- 26:11And my parents stayed married for the kids.
- 26:14And I think that set me so far in the opposite direction that I
- 26:19never wanted to stay married for the kids because I saw a
- 26:23loveless marriage that to this day has made it very hard for me
- 26:27to be affectionate to people because there was really, like,
- 26:30no affection when I was growing up.
- 26:33Yeah. That's hard.
- 26:34And so I was like, I don't want that for like my kids.
- 26:38Like I want my son to see me so in love and him know that that's
- 26:42what he wants one day versus like I look at my parents
- 26:45relationship and I'm like OK, that's what I don't want and I
- 26:48just didn't want that so. You want, I want same.
- 26:52Excuse me where? It's like, I want my daughter to
- 26:57be like, Oh my God, stop kissing or like like each other.
- 27:03They still have crushes on each other, like that type of thing.
- 27:07I totally, I can totally feel it.
- 27:09My parents are still together, but I feel like, you know, I saw
- 27:14them kiss and stuff, but they were never like, you know,
- 27:18making out in the kitchen or like, obviously there's a line I
- 27:23don't want, you know, but yeah, you're like, I'm not trying to
- 27:26get in between it, but yeah, that's nice.
- 27:31Then also that your that your husband now had that
- 27:37understanding of probably what he wants in a partner.
- 27:42Yeah. And he had been divorced for
- 27:43five years when we met, and he hadn't really dated anybody.
- 27:48So it was like a very thankfully I was in therapy, like through
- 27:52my getting divorced, and we were in therapy together and we still
- 27:57landed in divorce. But yeah, so he had been
- 28:00divorced for five years, never dated anybody.
- 28:03And so for him, he was like, so set in, it's just him and the
- 28:06kids, him and the kids. And so we actually after a
- 28:09couple months of dating, broke up for a few months because I
- 28:12was like, if you can't bring me into your world, like I can't
- 28:16just be out here with Austin. Like we have to do this
- 28:21together. And so we ended up breaking up
- 28:24for a few months and then I was on the dating apps, going on
- 28:29shit date after shit date with people who I was like, never
- 28:33would I ever see myself with you.
- 28:35And so then he though, like, was totally working on himself
- 28:40'cause he knew I was right and knew that he needed to, like,
- 28:43figure it out. And so when we got back
- 28:45together, he, it was like so much better.
- 28:49But yeah, he had been divorced for a long time.
- 28:52Does he have boys or girls? It's a boy and a girl.
- 28:55Oh, OK. Well, that's nice.
- 28:59It was there was there any like, was it hard knowing like when to
- 29:11when you both were going to like, like you said, bring each
- 29:16other in to each other's lives. We're having kids.
- 29:19Like what was what was that like?
- 29:22Because you probably don't want to introduce your kid to like
- 29:26you're saying, you're not going to introduce them to the.
- 29:30Yeah. Idiots that you're not going to
- 29:34end up with. So what was?
- 29:37Was there just like a time that you were like, this is probably
- 29:40going to be? Yeah, well, so I left our very
- 29:43first date and I called my friend and I said either he's
- 29:45going to break my heart or I'm going to marry him.
- 29:47Like I knew from the first date he was just like the best person
- 29:51I'd ever met. And he was like the most
- 29:54beautiful specimen who had this, like, the heart of gold,
- 29:58sweetest, kindest, most like, actually thought he hated me
- 30:01when we first met because he wouldn't make eye contact with
- 30:03me, like, wouldn't look at me. I was like, Oh my God, does he
- 30:05like become ugly? Like, but I didn't know he was
- 30:08so shy. And so we're so opposite because
- 30:12I don't have a shy bone in my body.
- 30:16So, yeah, I, I knew that he was like an incredible human being
- 30:20from day one. And so he met my son way before
- 30:24I met his kids because his kids were so much older versus like
- 30:28with Austin. And we would just go to like a
- 30:30playground so he could just be a friend.
- 30:34Like you can't introduce me to a 12 year old.
- 30:37Like she would know. She'd be like, yeah, no, this
- 30:39must be a girlfriend. Austin was 1 1/2.
- 30:42He's like someone to play with me.
- 30:43This is great. Yeah, you're older.
- 30:46They're putting it together. Yeah, so.
- 30:50And it was so funny because when he, like, dropped the bomb on
- 30:52the kids, they were like, yeah, we know.
- 30:54Like, you're literally texting someone with a heart in her name
- 30:56every day. You think we don't see you,
- 30:58like, pick up your phone? So they had already put it
- 31:00together long before he thought they did.
- 31:03But yeah, so he met Austin after like a month, like at a
- 31:07playground like that kind of stuff.
- 31:10Yeah, that's nice. Yeah.
- 31:12That's so funny. Yeah.
- 31:14Like kids always know. Yeah, he's like, so I have to
- 31:17tell you something. It's been five years since I got
- 31:20divorced. I have a girlfriend and they're
- 31:22like no shit at no. Yeah, we.
- 31:25We clocked that thing. Yeah, like, give us more credit.
- 31:30So funny. Well, with him being such a shy
- 31:34person and and having two step kids, I feel like you aren't
- 31:42sharing them as much and that is that definitely like a conscious
- 31:48thing. Is he and how does he feel about
- 31:52you share? I mean, obviously he's
- 31:54supportive of you wouldn't be together, but like, yeah, how is
- 31:59that for him as like a shy person with older like, yeah.
- 32:06It was in the beginning when like all the rug stuff first
- 32:09happened. He hated it.
- 32:10He used to say like it was like a problem.
- 32:13Like he was like, you're like on your phone so much now.
- 32:18And well, and I quickly, I ended up getting laid off like a
- 32:22couple weeks later because my company was like going through
- 32:24the shits and I knew it was coming anyway.
- 32:26So the timing was I was very lucky.
- 32:30And so yeah, he absolutely hated it at first.
- 32:34He and it was a it was it's been purposefully A conscious
- 32:39decision to leave the big kids off because they're their mom.
- 32:45Like doesn't want them on my social media when it's
- 32:48uncontrolled, like on her end, which if I was her, I would
- 32:52totally agree. And like I know what I am OK
- 32:56with with Austin, but like I can't make that call with
- 32:58someone else's children. So Kaylee and Bert, a lot of
- 33:03people don't even know that I have step kids because they're
- 33:06never in my content unless you're like on Instagram and
- 33:09you're heavy in my stories. I'll talk about them, but you
- 33:12don't see them really ever. And so that's on purpose.
- 33:15And Brandon, I've tried to do videos with him.
- 33:18He loves it. Now he'll like come into a live
- 33:21and like talk and like all the live girls.
- 33:24I've got like a good gang of girls that like come in my lives
- 33:27all the time. And they have like inside jokes
- 33:29about him because if I'll start talking inappropriately, he's
- 33:32always like, all right, like that's my cue.
- 33:34I'm gonna go because I'll like talk about sex, like I'll talk
- 33:37about anything. And he'll be the right there.
- 33:39And he's like, oh, I can't handle this.
- 33:42So yeah, he, he like, he's, he likes it now.
- 33:46Like if we go out in public and someone comes up to me, he's
- 33:50like, he'll say it before I do. He's like, oh, yeah, you
- 33:53recognize her from TikTok, huh? Like, he's very into it now.
- 33:57But at first it used to make him like, very uncomfortable.
- 34:00He's like my biggest fan now. Yeah, that's got to be hard when
- 34:06I mean, I also can't imagine the opposite where where it would be
- 34:09like partners doing social media together.
- 34:14I wouldn't I I don't think I would do well with my husband.
- 34:20Yeah. I'll share my yeah, that that
- 34:23would be a whole other thing too.
- 34:25So it's I feel like it's tricky either way and it's just like
- 34:28what? Yeah, like if I'm doing like a
- 34:31bit like tonight, we're starting sleep training with Landon.
- 34:35Bless you. Yeah.
- 34:38And so I'm going to do like a night routine video.
- 34:40So Brandon will be in it. So it's like if if he's there
- 34:44and he's in it, then he's in it and like he's fine to be in it.
- 34:47But we don't like make like couples content.
- 34:49Really. Yeah.
- 34:49Yeah, that'd be interesting. What do you feel like the the
- 34:53weirdest part about having so many people follow you?
- 34:59Like there's millions of people. Follow.
- 35:03You and like, what's the weirdest, weirdest and best and
- 35:10hardest part of of all of that? Because I can't imagine that's
- 35:16so many. Yeah, it yeah.
- 35:19I'm like, it's funny when I look at my content from like when it
- 35:23all first happened, I was trying to like.
- 35:28Not. Not that I think I was like not
- 35:30being myself, but I was definitely putting on more
- 35:34versus now I've I'm just, I am so unapologetically me and it
- 35:40actually like I get more followers that way.
- 35:42And so I'm like, if I can, I think if I was, I think doing
- 35:45content would feel like work if you were trying to act not
- 35:51yourself. Like if I was trying to portray
- 35:54a perfect life and always had to have my makeup done before, I
- 35:58would film like, I don't think I could be doing this job like at
- 36:02all. I think that it works because I
- 36:05will film with no makeup, no bra, no pants, Like I don't
- 36:09care. Like whatever I am in in that
- 36:11moment. Like that's what you get.
- 36:15Oh my God, I know that really got me when?
- 36:18When your. Son was like, wait, you're not
- 36:21wearing underwear, dying so good.
- 36:27He's like. And then the fact that he said
- 36:28wait and then like a full like 30 seconds later, like he's just
- 36:31processing it. Like I swear my mom just said
- 36:33she didn't have undies on like what the hell.
- 36:36So good. Yeah.
- 36:38And so like I just am me and I that's like one thing.
- 36:43Like I don't think I will ever change no matter if it if I
- 36:45become like and Avery Woods and I have all this money and like
- 36:49content is like really going for me for years.
- 36:52Like I just I just am like very down to earth.
- 36:56I think growing up in like a small town and ton of siblings.
- 37:01And yeah, so I think that's like the fun part is that it's a job,
- 37:06but I don't treat it differently than like it's very natural
- 37:12because I just share what I'm actually doing.
- 37:14I don't put on a show. Are you, I mean, are you also
- 37:18like that to like in your real life?
- 37:22Cuz like with is that hard being like oh, Aunt Rita's gonna see
- 37:29this or whatever. Do you ever?
- 37:31No, I don't. Have a hard time with that?
- 37:33No, like I like moving on. I have always been that way
- 37:40though. Like I, I don't care, like love
- 37:45me or hate me, but it's going to be for who I am.
- 37:48Like no one's going to love me for someone I'm not.
- 37:50And if you hate me, it's because you just don't like me.
- 37:52And like that's OK. Like I like my mother-in-law
- 37:56follows me and there's times where I'm like, oh, she probably
- 37:58felt weird seeing that one because like I made a video when
- 38:01I was pregnant about wanting my husband to stick his fingers in
- 38:06my vagina and see if he can see if I'm dilated.
- 38:09Like and then there was comments of like, oh, that's that's you
- 38:14could get and I said, you're nothing's going like it, just
- 38:19you just don't care. Like I really like.
- 38:22I will say whatever I. Feel like that takes like some
- 38:28people, some people never get to that point in their life and I
- 38:31feel like that takes so much time for especially for women to
- 38:39be like, it is what it is. I am who I am.
- 38:42Like, so it is so great. And I feel like that's such like
- 38:48an inspiration to people following you where it's like,
- 38:53oh, she's being herself without apology that and has.
- 38:59And it's clearly connecting with all of these people.
- 39:03And as you said, the more you are just you just like makes the
- 39:10connection. Yeah.
- 39:12Like the more messy the video, the better it does like the more
- 39:15realistic and like I've talked about like my Zoloft sitting
- 39:19right in front of me, like I'm on anti like for postpartum
- 39:22anxiety, postpartum depression. And I just like I'm such an open
- 39:26book. And because I I think that it's
- 39:29so detrimental. I think social media can be so
- 39:32great and so terrible. Like I have found myself in the
- 39:36comparison scroll especially. I think like you said, Instagram
- 39:40can be worse because it's more picture perfect and a lot of the
- 39:42influencers I followed have perfect looking lives and 6
- 39:46packs two weeks after they have a baby and it's just like what
- 39:49the hell? And so I like used to find
- 39:53myself just like I'm not good enough.
- 39:56I'm not this, I'm not that. And I never want someone to
- 39:59scroll onto one of my videos and be like I'm not enough.
- 40:02Like I want them to scroll into my videos and be like, yes,
- 40:04bitch, me too. Like you know what I mean?
- 40:08I don't, I never want to have the oh, I wish.
- 40:11I oh, she's looks so like she has it all together.
- 40:14I don't get that. Like in DM sometimes people be
- 40:17like, oh, you just look like you like he's your son is so perfect
- 40:21or like you just look like this is so easy for you.
- 40:23And I'm like, if that's how I'm making it look, I'm sorry.
- 40:25Because like, let me tell you, like I don't.
- 40:28Yeah. Well, and that says a lot, you
- 40:32know, for the people who are not like you and don't feel like
- 40:37they can be, you know, themselves unapologetically,
- 40:41they're probably watching your content because they feel the
- 40:45same way as you but aren't able. So it's kind of like it can be
- 40:49their outlet for themselves to like see themselves through you.
- 40:55And they're like, yes. Yeah, I feel like especially
- 40:58with the car crash outs that I do, that's like one of the main
- 41:02like things I get. I was like same same same same
- 41:06like all the time. Yeah.
- 41:07People are like, I want to go sit in my car with a bottle of
- 41:09wine so bad. I'm like, go do it, do it.
- 41:11Well, it was funny too, because when I was, I have two older
- 41:14sisters, when I was telling them, I was like, I'm talking to
- 41:18Katie, and I was like, she's the 1.
- 41:20And I was like, you follow her? I was like, she's the one who
- 41:22does the car. And they were like, got it.
- 41:27They're like, we know, got it now.
- 41:30But I was like, yeah, can I sit alone in my car and just eat all
- 41:35this goodness? It's.
- 41:37Great, I might do one tonight. Depending on how sleep training
- 41:40goes, I might need to sleep. Training is the best and the
- 41:46worst. Obviously you've been you've
- 41:50been there before, but. Yeah.
- 41:52Godspeed. Yeah, so it it now that it is
- 41:59this is also it's you being you, but it is a job.
- 42:03So what what was that like? Obviously you said the timing of
- 42:10it was good with the rock video and be in the your previous job
- 42:16ending anyway, but how did it become a like a business?
- 42:23I don't need to quote it, but a. Business yeah I and I had a hard
- 42:28time like accepting it. I didn't I waited until so the
- 42:32rug happened in October and I didn't LLC until the following
- 42:35June because I just kept waiting for it to go away because I was
- 42:40like, there's no way this is my job.
- 42:43Like this is the fucking dream. Like this is what we like.
- 42:47Any person who's ever posted a video is wants this to be their
- 42:52job. And I just was like, there's no
- 42:55way that I get to do this again. Like who gets to do this twice
- 42:59in their life? There's just no way.
- 43:02So yeah, it definitely like took me a while to like accept it.
- 43:06And once I finally did, that's when I started like making a
- 43:08content calendar and I was like, OK, these are the ideas I have
- 43:12that I want to get done and this is what I'm going to film on
- 43:14Monday. And does it always happen?
- 43:16Absolutely not. Like I'm still like I have a
- 43:20video that I've been saying I'm going to film for the last like
- 43:222 weeks. And I'm like, OK, I'll do it
- 43:23tomorrow. Kids life with kids.
- 43:26And you know, but yeah, it's definitely been.
- 43:30And I have a management team now and I'm hiring a part time nanny
- 43:36slash assistant this month. Like I never would have dreamed
- 43:41that that would be. And I started a new business
- 43:43like because of this, the moms meet up club.
- 43:46And so yeah, I never would have dreamed that this would become
- 43:50like what it has. And I'm so lucky that I get to
- 43:53do this by just like sharing me and like my life and my thoughts
- 43:58and. I'm always fascinated though,
- 44:01too, because I'm so nosy where I'm like and you're very honest
- 44:07about like how that like you make money off of your social
- 44:11media as well, but like how is it I'm like, but how is it like
- 44:18brands or how not even did they just reach out to you?
- 44:22Did you like? Yeah, no, I think it's like the
- 44:25most interesting thing. And I I was to say like how, how
- 44:29so? I love to like spill the beans
- 44:31because I feel like a lot of people like it's like hot, like
- 44:33a secret, like they don't like it's.
- 44:35Like they didn't know cuz I'm. I didn't either, yeah.
- 44:40And now I'm like OK, let's like make this not a secret cuz I
- 44:42don't feel like it has to be. So majority of my income
- 44:45definitely comes from brand deals.
- 44:47Yeah. And so that's like my management
- 44:50company reaching out to companies or companies reaching
- 44:52out to me. So like the best thing I I don't
- 44:56do it enough, but like I should or like the best thing other
- 44:59people could do tag every brand ever.
- 45:02Like if you are well, the only thing in front of me is like my
- 45:05Zoloft, but it's like. Tad.
- 45:09Tad Quaker, like a lot of money. Yeah.
- 45:13Like I have a brand deal with Ohio Health because that's where
- 45:16I had my son and I'm doing. I did a video where I go and
- 45:21meet with a dietitian and talk about like breastfeeding
- 45:23nutrition and postpartum nutrition.
- 45:27I've had brand deals with like hand sanitizer, skin care,
- 45:31breast pumps, baby swings like and it's just a lot of brand
- 45:37deals have come from companies that like I've used personally
- 45:41and I just tag them every time because brands love to work with
- 45:44people who are already a fan of them.
- 45:46Right? So most of my income comes from
- 45:49brand deals. And then it would be like views.
- 45:54TikTok doesn't pay crap for views.
- 45:56I make more like 3 times as much on Meta on Facebook.
- 46:01So like yesterday I posted a video.
- 46:03I didn't almost didn't even post it.
- 46:05This is what and I, I, it's like the most stereotype like post
- 46:10the fucking video because I almost didn't post it yesterday
- 46:13because I thought it was stupid. It was just a video of like when
- 46:16the baby finally unlatches and you're trying to like slither
- 46:19away. Oh my God.
- 46:20And the baby doesn't wake up. And so it's just me like sliding
- 46:24off of my bed. That video has I posted it
- 46:27yesterday. It has like 1.5 million views.
- 46:31I'll probably make like $1000 because of that video that I
- 46:36almost didn't even make. And it's 9 seconds of me
- 46:38Slytherin off my bed. And like doing a universal,
- 46:42having a universal experience that like every breastfeeding
- 46:44mom has. And I was like about to do it.
- 46:47And I was like, oh, let me record this like.
- 46:52Well, yeah, 'cause we can all relate to that or not.
- 46:56That situation where you're like, oh God, I got this.
- 47:00Yeah, I think actually you was something you posted was the
- 47:06reason I started like share 'cause you were like, if you
- 47:09just post it to Facebook, you just, like, make money.
- 47:15And I was like, that literally cannot be true, 'cause I was
- 47:18like, but like, where? Who's hey and like?
- 47:21We're always giving you this money.
- 47:23Like I've made literally like $8 but I'm like, oh wait, I mean $8
- 47:30is but I am like. Where does I come where and the
- 47:35crazy thing like that video is failing on TikTok.
- 47:38It only has like 14,000 views on TikTok and so that's the thing
- 47:41like I make one video and I post it everywhere because it can
- 47:44fail on one platform and go nuts on another.
- 47:49So it's has like 14,000 on TikTok and it has over 1,000,000
- 47:53on Facebook and I make one video.
- 47:57I share it to Instagram, which automatically shares it to
- 48:00Facebook and so and now I'm also starting to post on YouTube
- 48:04shorts so I've gotten like 10,000 followers there.
- 48:06I've I'm almost to like the hours watch where I'll start
- 48:10making money there. So I'm making one piece of
- 48:12content, posting it to 4 platforms, and sometimes it
- 48:17sucks on one and gets a million views on another.
- 48:20Yeah. Would you say so personally then
- 48:25ask you, is it, do you think it makes a difference or is it
- 48:29worth it? I guess the more if you have
- 48:33enough followers to make it worth it to do the verified, the
- 48:38meta verified. Does that make?
- 48:40Did that make a? You don't.
- 48:42Know that that like makes a difference.
- 48:44Meta offered it to me for free for a year.
- 48:48So I been like this month that actually like in the new year it
- 48:53said that it's going to be I have to pay the 1499.
- 48:57But I feel like getting rid of it would be weird because I've
- 48:59had it for so long, which is exactly probably why they give
- 49:01it to you for free. Because now I'm like, well, now
- 49:03it's like I have to keep it. Otherwise people would be like,
- 49:06oh, what did she do that she like lost it?
- 49:08She. Got kicked off.
- 49:09Yeah, so now I'm like, hey, I guess I'm paying $14.00 for a
- 49:12freaking check mark that has been free, so.
- 49:17But at least you're making enough that.
- 49:19I mean, yeah, it pays for. Itself, Yeah, my $8 is not
- 49:23covering it. How do is it?
- 49:28How is it treating it like a, like a job for you?
- 49:32Because it is you being you. But like you said, where you
- 49:36kind of make a content calendar, but how do you not burn out on
- 49:44like recording yourself, you know?
- 49:49I mean, there's definitely like I never want to be the person to
- 49:52complain about the best job ever, but there is like a lot of
- 49:56shitty parts to it. Like it actually has really
- 50:00affected friendships because my friends see so much of my life
- 50:06that like, they don't feel the need to talk to me anymore
- 50:09because like, they know it all already.
- 50:13And so like, I I, because I've had these conversations with my
- 50:18friends of like, I feel like we like don't talk and like, it was
- 50:22just like, yeah, you're right. But like I kind of already know.
- 50:26Like I know that Lannon's teething.
- 50:28I know that he's not sleeping good.
- 50:29Like I don't need to ask you because I already know you.
- 50:33Like, then unfollow me. Yeah, like, literally.
- 50:37And so I think like, that's been an interesting thing.
- 50:41And then I also never talk about it when I like last night I went
- 50:45to dinner with like 5 of my friends and I don't talk about
- 50:47it. And like, they're talking about
- 50:48their jobs, but it feels like if I talk about mine, it's almost
- 50:51like I would be annoying or like, sound braggy.
- 50:55So I just stay very quiet, which isn't my personality to be quiet
- 50:59at all. But when it when we're like
- 51:01talking about work, like I just say nothing because I'm like,
- 51:05what am I going to say? Like, oh, I got this brand deal
- 51:07that I have to film and I made more money than you're making in
- 51:10a month, going to work 40 hours and I'm going to go like prop up
- 51:14my phone and film something like it just sounds out of touch and
- 51:18like I'm aware enough to know that.
- 51:20And so like, I just don't talk about it.
- 51:23Well, also being in wait, I didn't.
- 51:28What brought you to Columbus? My ex-husband and I moved here.
- 51:32Well, he wasn't my ex. Obviously it's time, but we
- 51:34moved here to buy 3 Blaze pizzas.
- 51:38So I was in like restaurant operations with him.
- 51:41So we had Jimmy John's back home and then we had three Blaze
- 51:46pizzas here. So that's what I was doing.
- 51:49Gotcha. Up until our divorce.
- 51:51And then I had like, we got divorced and then I wasn't doing
- 51:54much with the restaurants anymore.
- 51:55So when I got like a regular marketing job.
- 51:58Gotcha. OK, that makes sense.
- 52:01But yeah, so being in Columbia, so then in Ohio, I feel like,
- 52:08you know, obviously different from LA, where literally
- 52:11everyone's filming. Them.
- 52:12Oh yeah. Fine, so that must be yeah,
- 52:18interesting with friends who because like I just went home a
- 52:22couple weeks ago and was like, I'm visiting coffee 10 AM
- 52:28Thursday, anybody and they're like, we have jobs and I'm like
- 52:33seems fine for everyone in LA so.
- 52:36Yeah. But like, yeah, that is.
- 52:38No, it'd be easier to have friends if I was somewhere where
- 52:41people were like last night. I wanted to make this video of
- 52:44like me drinking. And I mean, I did make it, but
- 52:50like, I felt awkward asking my friend to record me.
- 52:52And I just said like waiting for someone else to bring up heated
- 52:54rivalry so that I can talk about it all night.
- 52:57And like, I have these ideas for video sometimes that I don't
- 52:59even make because I don't want to ask my friend to like, oh,
- 53:04can you film me? But if I was in LA and like had
- 53:08friends who were doing this like it wouldn't matter at all but
- 53:11I'm asking. Like my friend, he's like, Oh
- 53:13my, oh, I'll film you. Yeah, she's like a nurse or a
- 53:16teacher. And I'm like, hey, can you?
- 53:17And then like get this angle? Like it just, it makes me feel
- 53:20uncomfortable. Like they're gonna be like, Oh
- 53:22my God. And so yeah.
- 53:25And they probably wouldn't, maybe wouldn't, but yeah.
- 53:28So I like really don't talk about it with my friends at all.
- 53:32And you're like, I don't have Co workers.
- 53:34So it's like a very isolating job, which is interesting
- 53:36because it's social, but it's like you're very alone in it.
- 53:41Yeah, but I think I mean does is that one of the reasons you
- 53:46started the your? Oh wait, yeah, Mom's meet up.
- 53:52Club, Mom's meet up club. I was like, I don't want to mess
- 53:54it up. Mom's meet up club.
- 53:56Yeah. So when you posted about it and
- 53:58I was like, I want to come. I'm so excited.
- 54:02Our events are going to be so fun.
- 54:03We're doing like a party bus car crash out.
- 54:06It sounds amazing, yeah. When did you come up with this
- 54:13idea and how did this all start? I was getting my nails done and
- 54:17I was like, literally, I think I made a video the day I was going
- 54:20to my nails and I was like, come with me to spark some fucking
- 54:23joy. Like I was just like, I was down
- 54:25in the dumps, like I was unwell. And so I'm just getting my nails
- 54:28done. Just like complaining to my nail
- 54:31girls. I love her as we do, you know, I
- 54:35know our whole lives. And I was talking about how I, I
- 54:39just like, it is isolating and I wish I could like take the
- 54:42community of people I have and bring them into the real world.
- 54:45And then I was like, maybe I just do that.
- 54:49Like maybe I just and it's like all started coming to me.
- 54:52I call my friend Mara when I leave, I'm telling her and I was
- 54:56like, I want you to do it with me.
- 54:59And that within 60 days, we were hosting our first event.
- 55:03Our website was done like and I worked from morning to night
- 55:09like it was. It's been so much.
- 55:12But when I like decide I want to do something like I don't want
- 55:16to do it later, I want to do it right now.
- 55:18So yeah, I gave myself 60 days and.
- 55:23Wow. Got it up and running, yeah.
- 55:25Yeah, yeah, it looks amazing. So I wish I could be there.
- 55:30Yeah, it's like we have like our ticketed events, but then once
- 55:33you're logged in, like for the members, we have a calendar that
- 55:36has meetups every single day. So you can like if you are a
- 55:41stay at home mom and you don't know what to do with your kids,
- 55:44you can look and know that there's going to be other moms
- 55:46that are going to be at this park at this time.
- 55:49Oh my God that's so amazing. Hey, we need one of those in L.
- 55:53AI know I want to do it everywhere.
- 55:55Like my goal is to like take it all over.
- 55:58And I think that that's like the piece like because I, I once I
- 56:01started it, I found like there's one in Atlanta, but the piece
- 56:05that's missing is, is that like that's the thing I haven't seen
- 56:08anybody else doing is a meet up calendar that's daily.
- 56:12There's something every day. There's a happy hour and maybe.
- 56:16And so we call them Marco Polo meetups.
- 56:19So you would just get there and you would just yell Marco.
- 56:21And then the people who yell Polo, you know, they're also
- 56:23part of the Moms Meet Up club. I love that.
- 56:25Yeah, 'cause that's one of the things we're like, I'm coming in
- 56:28and I don't know anybody. Are you?
- 56:31Is it? Yeah, yeah.
- 56:32Marco love it. Yeah.
- 56:34Genius. Well, if you bring it out to LA.
- 56:39Yeah. I'll blast it all over.
- 56:45OK, Well, Oh my gosh, we could just talk forever, but I'm
- 56:50gonna, I'm gonna go to my little rapid fire.
- 56:54OK, coffee or matcha? Oh my gosh, Matcha.
- 57:02Well, now that I've asked that, OK, so tell me for real because
- 57:05I want to buy that like Java protein that everyone's.
- 57:10Talking about how many people have been like I saw the ad,
- 57:12like is it actually good? I'm like, I will cut this out.
- 57:18OK, the the classic coffee flavor.
- 57:22I hate it. Brandon liked it, but like the
- 57:25classic coffee, terrible. The one that I'm drinking in the
- 57:29one video, the like cookie. That one's really good.
- 57:32OK, that was in my cart. Like the cookie brownie
- 57:35something. Like that.
- 57:36Yeah, but not like, don't get like, just the classic coffee
- 57:39that was nasty. But I mean, Brandon liked it.
- 57:43But that's because I don't love coffee.
- 57:45And it tastes like, strong, like coffee.
- 57:47He likes coffee. So he liked that one, the cookie
- 57:51like the flavored ones, those ones are really good, OK.
- 57:53Great. I'll give it a shot.
- 57:55Yeah. Full glam or no makeup?
- 57:59No makeup. Yeah.
- 58:00We love also, though. See, now I'm going on tangents
- 58:04for every question. Your skin is so good.
- 58:09Thank you. What?
- 58:10What? What is it?
- 58:12I know that there was like the Korean skin care that you shared
- 58:17also seems with you see then isn't this creepy a little bit I
- 58:22feel a little bit creepy that I know.
- 58:24Somebody no. And that's like, I always like,
- 58:27someone will come up to me and they'll introduce themselves and
- 58:30I go to I go to like introduce myself back and my friends, like
- 58:33they just came up to you. Like they fucking know your
- 58:35name. And I'm like, but what am I
- 58:36gonna say? Like you know me already.
- 58:37Like what am I gonna do? But they're like.
- 58:41How does she, who is that mom? How does she know your name?
- 58:43And I'm like, oh, she's one of the friends on the phone.
- 58:46And he's like, oh, OK. Oh, that's sweet.
- 58:49He loves making videos. He would be in every video if I
- 58:52let him. Like there's times where I'm
- 58:53like, this one's just mommy like, like he loves it, he loves
- 58:57it. Oh my God, but OK.
- 58:59But yes, actually, what is your skin syrup?
- 59:03You just. Blood Korean skin care like
- 59:06truly, it's like the the medicube 0 por pads and then
- 59:12like the niacinamide, the PDRN from a Nua like medicube and a
- 59:15Nua like if you only had that. And it's so much cheaper than
- 59:20like the ridiculous brands at like Ulta and stuff.
- 59:23And it's I really think it's better.
- 59:25It's that's my secret love. It yes, because I use the same
- 59:31like the oil cleanser thing that you.
- 59:33Oh yeah. Oh.
- 59:35My God. Yeah, I love that.
- 59:39OK night in or night out or night in your car.
- 59:44OK, the answer is purely dependent on does Landon exist
- 59:50and not sleep at night? Because like currently the
- 59:52answer if sleep. Training goes well.
- 59:56Night out. OK, there we go.
- 59:59Sweet or salty? Salty.
- 1:00:03And if if you're kids, well, one of them does not talk but could
- 1:00:09use one word to describe you. What do you think it would be,
- 1:00:13Landon? Would just say like titties or
- 1:00:16something, 'cause that's all he cares about and we just be like
- 1:00:19nibble, I think Austin would probably say.
- 1:00:32I think he'd say fun, like we have a lot of fun together.
- 1:00:36We have so much fun together. Like we'll dance in the middle
- 1:00:38of target. That's what we did yesterday.
- 1:00:40Like I, yeah, he like hold hands.
- 1:00:44We were doing the worm or I don't know what even know what
- 1:00:46that's called the wave. And then we have like a secret
- 1:00:48dance we do and we did it like 4 times in Target.
- 1:00:52I just, I was just telling my sister he's at an age where it
- 1:00:56is so fun. Like I don't feel like I'm
- 1:00:58parenting. We went there, he got his, he
- 1:01:01like ran up to the Starbucks thing.
- 1:01:03I got my drink, he got his cake pop.
- 1:01:05We're trying on shoes, looking at clothes.
- 1:01:07It felt like I was hanging out with like a friend.
- 1:01:09It's not even He's so fun right now.
- 1:01:13I'm obsessed a good. Age when they're talking and
- 1:01:18being. Yeah.
- 1:01:19He's just a person now and he's so good and well mannered.
- 1:01:23I don't have to. I don't have to.
- 1:01:26He's just he's so I'm very lucky with him.
- 1:01:29Even at Chick-fil-A yesterday, this old woman comes up to and
- 1:01:31she's like, I just have to say, like, you must be so proud of
- 1:01:33him. I could hear how good his
- 1:01:34manners were. And he's being so cute to his
- 1:01:36little brother. She's like, he's incredible.
- 1:01:39And I was like, no, he really is.
- 1:01:41Yeah, I got very lucky. Yeah, that's so sweet.
- 1:01:45I was talking to my dad recently about how I was like, you know,
- 1:01:49cuz kids are just. They can be annoying.
- 1:01:52Yeah, but it's like, and that was, you know, we we'd take
- 1:01:57things from our parents that were like, want to do this,
- 1:02:00don't want to do that when I'm like, I have a heart.
- 1:02:04It's hard to be patient when they're annoying.
- 1:02:06And I was like growing up, I was like my dad.
- 1:02:08I was like both of my parents. I never felt like I was annoying
- 1:02:11to them. But then I was like, but also we
- 1:02:14were just, you got locked out because we were just good kids
- 1:02:18as. Yeah, I was.
- 1:02:19Like it's it's makes it so much more fun when they're, you know,
- 1:02:26no kid is perfect, but. Yeah.
- 1:02:29They're fun too. And yeah, it's great not to the
- 1:02:33age yet where they're like mom. Yeah, no, like he still wants to
- 1:02:37mooch me. He still wants to cuddle.
- 1:02:39Like I'm still the coolest person ever.
- 1:02:41Yeah. Like he's Austin has never once
- 1:02:44had a tantrum. Like, I don't even know.
- 1:02:45I don't even know what I would do.
- 1:02:47He's never like, he's like jumped a foot once, but like
- 1:02:53I've seen kids like screaming and he's never done that.
- 1:02:57He's never done that. It's crazy.
- 1:03:00Like when I say I have the easiest kid, like he is
- 1:03:03literally the easiest. That's wild because I would even
- 1:03:09say my daughter's pretty good. But she will tell you when she's
- 1:03:15mad about something. I mean, he'll say I'm so mad at
- 1:03:18you, but he's never like throwing his body on the ground
- 1:03:21crying like he's never done that.
- 1:03:23I like, think I would freeze and be like, what do I do?
- 1:03:26Like, Oh my God. But literally what do we do?
- 1:03:29Because you're like when? I just walk away and be like OK
- 1:03:34but draw much. Yeah, that's really all you can
- 1:03:37do because you know, it's for attention.
- 1:03:40And then you give it a yeah. OK.
- 1:03:43What is something that you wish somebody would have told you
- 1:03:45before you came? A mom.
- 1:03:51Not to obsess over like I get what's your sleep routine?
- 1:03:59What's your feed routine? What?
- 1:04:01Just go with the flow. I was so like, oh, he has three
- 1:04:07minutes. He has to be eating with Austin.
- 1:04:10And that stressed me the fuck out so bad.
- 1:04:12I wish someone had told me. What I now tell people is like,
- 1:04:15just follow your motherly intuition.
- 1:04:19You can, you know when your baby's hungry.
- 1:04:20Like you don't need to like 03 minutes ago he was supposed to
- 1:04:24eat. I don't know.
- 1:04:25I just wish someone had told me, like, and honestly, my mom
- 1:04:28probably did tell me and I just didn't listen.
- 1:04:31Like, like just follow your intuition because that's more
- 1:04:36than like any sleep program or like any of that stuff's going
- 1:04:40to teach you. Like, you know, you can feel
- 1:04:42what your kids need. Like trust that feeling.
- 1:04:46You don't skip the books. You don't need to.
- 1:04:49Yeah, because. It's also all just going to go
- 1:04:52out the window anyway, depending.
- 1:04:53On yeah, it's just going to stress you out.
- 1:04:55Like it gave me so much more anxiety thinking I was doing
- 1:04:58like something wrong or like, I need to follow this, this thing
- 1:05:02once I just like got rid of all that and I was like, I'm just
- 1:05:05gonna go with what feels right. Like motherhood was so much
- 1:05:09better for me. Yeah, I feel, I always say I
- 1:05:12wish you could have like the second kid 1st and I don't think
- 1:05:14I'm gonna have a second kid. So I'm like, I wish I could have
- 1:05:18had the second kid first where you're yeah, I was like, I used
- 1:05:22the app tracker thing. Same.
- 1:05:24And I'm like, I know, baby. Like I've done this a million,
- 1:05:28Yeah. I mean, I'm the oldest sibling.
- 1:05:30We had foster babies. Like I why did I think I needed
- 1:05:33Huckleberry to track every freaking wet diaper?
- 1:05:37Like what was I doing? I will.
- 1:05:38You would never catch me dead doing that again.
- 1:05:41Huckleberry made some money off of me.
- 1:05:44Let's. Yeah, it.
- 1:05:46Did, I mean honestly, it did help with like sleeping stuff
- 1:05:50just cuz I'm like I can't remember anything anyway.
- 1:05:53So yeah, it did help at the beginning, but you know, yeah.
- 1:05:57I mean, here I am with a kid who won't get off my nipple and I'm
- 1:06:00like going to try sleep training.
- 1:06:01So maybe I'm like preaching to the choir here, but.
- 1:06:07That's OK. OK, so I have to let you go.
- 1:06:12But what is where can we, where can people connect with you?
- 1:06:18Obviously this is the silliest question because of course we
- 1:06:21know where to connect with you. But give us your your socials,
- 1:06:27where to follow you, how to join your mom's club, all of that.
- 1:06:35So luckily I'm the same across the board.
- 1:06:37It's just at Katie Santry on all the things TikTok, Instagram,
- 1:06:42Facebook, and then momsmeetupclub.com is for so far
- 1:06:49just Columbus. But we have it built so where we
- 1:06:52can have moms meet up Club Pittsburgh, Moms meet up Club
- 1:06:54Nashville, like a bunch of different chapters as we get it
- 1:06:59going and figure all this stuff out.
- 1:07:03Well, I will also share all of your things in the show notes
- 1:07:09and on social as well. And what is just one thing that
- 1:07:16you would like to tell another mom?
- 1:07:18That's that's listening And yeah.
- 1:07:24Any advice? Any.
- 1:07:25Yeah. I mean, motherhood doesn't have
- 1:07:29to be a solo sport. I think like find community,
- 1:07:34even if your parents don't live where you live, like do what you
- 1:07:37can to like join clubs like this, like they hopefully exist
- 1:07:41where anybody might live. And then just like the best
- 1:07:47thing you can do for your mental health, I think, and just don't
- 1:07:51feel bad leaving your kid with a babysitter to go out to dinner.
- 1:07:55Like maintain your identity, like your personal identity.
- 1:08:00That is like if there's anything that people I want to get like
- 1:08:04when they watch my content, it's like, ha, she's such a funny
- 1:08:06mom, but like, she's still just Kate.
- 1:08:08Like she's Katie. And that's like the biggest
- 1:08:11thing for me. Well, thank you for being.
- 1:08:15Thanks. There's no just.
- 1:08:17It's Katie. No, just thank you so much for
- 1:08:23listening to this episode of Mommy Wood.
- 1:08:26Now, before you go, if Mommy Wood feels like a place you
- 1:08:29belong, I want to invite you to join the Village, which is our
- 1:08:33Mommy Wood Patreon community. For just $5 a month.
