- 0:11Speaker 1: This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
- 0:14Speaker 1: Lazar and Alex Barth.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Here is Evan Lazar and Alex Barth. I just love
- 0:28Speaker 2: how ten minutes of anything that's not Patriots because sets
- 0:33Speaker 2: all of you on.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We made it a little We tried to make it Patriots.
- 0:35Speaker 1: What's your new hobby?
- 0:36Speaker 3: In a beach?
- 0:37Speaker 2: I'll let you know. I'm still haven't decided or any
- 0:41Speaker 2: of my pitches being considered. You keep trying to pitch
- 0:43Speaker 2: golf to me, and I'm not going to golf, and
- 0:44Speaker 2: you should golf. It's a golf is not gonna great
- 0:47Speaker 2: escapism hobby when I golf. The part that I think
- 0:51Speaker 2: I can't do like leisurely, like past time. Like if
- 0:54Speaker 2: I'm playing a sport, I'm competing. It's not golf. And
- 1:01Speaker 2: now nobody has to worry about me talking about the
- 1:03Speaker 2: Celtics anymore because the season is But I'll tell you this.
- 1:06Speaker 2: You're all congratulations. I will no longer talk basketball and
- 1:09Speaker 2: I'll tell you this.
- 1:10Speaker 1: YouTube replies public tweets dms to me Yeah, there's a
- 1:14Speaker 1: lot a lot of people are excited about you possibly
- 1:16Speaker 1: playing Madden.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It's true. I had no idea a lot.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Of people want to see you play Madden, Evan.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I had no idea that that was going to happen. Truthfully, Yes,
- 1:26Speaker 2: last week's show, and we we do check the comments
- 1:28Speaker 2: last week's show pretty much ninety five percent of the
- 1:32Speaker 2: comments where we need Alex and Evan on Twitch playing
- 1:36Speaker 2: Madden with one another.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And to the people who it wouldn't replace this show,
- 1:40Speaker 1: it would be its own separate No.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, no, we're not playing Madden on here. No, we
- 1:45Speaker 2: have that.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Actually, I know ye do a great job of it.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But I think you might have to, uh, you might
- 1:52Speaker 1: have to really look into this. You got to give
- 1:53Speaker 1: the people what they want.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Maybe, but this business is maybe I haven't played and
- 1:57Speaker 2: then I swear we're going to get into it. But
- 1:58Speaker 2: I haven't played a video game and I can't even
- 2:03Speaker 2: remember how long.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So I'm saying get it now, and like, get used
- 2:06Speaker 1: to it so when the new one drops, you can
- 2:07Speaker 1: hit the ground running.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I retire from playing video games probably at least
- 2:14Speaker 2: five years ago. Kind of coincided with something else that
- 2:17Speaker 2: happened in my life five years ago. If you catch
- 2:19Speaker 2: my drifts. So, yeah, I haven't played video games in
- 2:22Speaker 2: a long Get you back into it. Yeah, all right, anyways,
- 2:25Speaker 2: hello everybody, how are we doing? Evan Lazar, Alex Bart
- 2:29Speaker 2: with you for the next couple hours. Here talking Patriots football.
- 2:33Speaker 2: No basketball today, no Madden. We're talking actual football. Because
- 2:38Speaker 2: we were out at OTA's yesterday and we got our
- 2:41Speaker 2: first look at the full squad. Mostly, I thought that
- 2:44Speaker 2: was a nice takeaway to start as the attendance was
- 2:49Speaker 2: fantastic for a voluntary Capital V voluntary workout. I accounted
- 2:56Speaker 2: for eighty six of the ninety guys, right, something like that,
- 3:00Speaker 2: eighty seven of the ninety one if you whatever is
- 3:02Speaker 2: going on with the International Pathway stuff, But yeah, they
- 3:07Speaker 2: had very good attendance, and I just thought in general
- 3:11Speaker 2: that there was a nice intensity and nice pace to practice.
- 3:15Speaker 2: We saw that at Rookie Mini caamp too. I thought
- 3:18Speaker 2: it stood out. But even towards the end with Belichick,
- 3:22Speaker 2: there were times where practice would kind of the beginning
- 3:25Speaker 2: of practice, it felt like it was slow to get started,
- 3:28Speaker 2: Like they would do stretch and then they would do
- 3:30Speaker 2: individuals and they do a walk through period and there's
- 3:33Speaker 2: just a lot of warm up to the actual team drills.
- 3:37Speaker 2: It didn't feel like that yesterday to me watching it,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and felt like there was a real pace to it.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Almost felt like they had to to pull people back
- 3:46Speaker 2: a little bit from being like almost too much contact. Yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and everybody's just excited to be back out there, I'm sure.
- 3:52Speaker 2: But it was a good intensity too, And I think
- 3:55Speaker 2: that starts with Mike Rabel. I think he sets that tone.
- 3:58Speaker 2: You know, he's the one that's pushing everybody. He's you
- 4:01Speaker 2: hear them, you see him pushing guys and making sure
- 4:04Speaker 2: that the effort is there at all times. So that
- 4:07Speaker 2: it was a big takeaway from me from yesterday was
- 4:10Speaker 2: just the overall intensity of the practice and uh that
- 4:15Speaker 2: this time of year, you know, he said, Abel said
- 4:18Speaker 2: it before the practice, we're talking about mentally getting through reps,
- 4:22Speaker 2: you know, procedural stuff, getting in out of the huddle
- 4:25Speaker 2: and no procedural errors and get him plays off on time,
- 4:29Speaker 2: and like that's a big part of it. You know,
- 4:31Speaker 2: being in the right places is a big part of
- 4:33Speaker 2: it from an assignment standpoint as well, and then also
- 4:37Speaker 2: competition and effort and before we get into all the
- 4:41Speaker 2: individual observations of how you know, guys looked and all
- 4:44Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. I just thought it was I
- 4:46Speaker 2: think it's good. I think it's a good thing that
- 4:48Speaker 2: there's an intensity again, and there's a competitiveness again, and
- 4:52Speaker 2: there's a element of iron sharpening iron at different positions
- 4:56Speaker 2: where you don't feel like it's you know, the last
- 4:59Speaker 2: couple of years, maybe the there is clear holes on
- 5:01Speaker 2: the roster that it couldn't really push you know, each
- 5:04Speaker 2: other and stuff like that. Now it does feel a
- 5:07Speaker 2: little bit different, and in a good way. Yeah, no,
- 5:10Speaker 2: it does.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It feels The up tempo thing was the biggest thing
- 5:13Speaker 1: to me because in the past, you know, during the
- 5:16Speaker 1: early portion of practice especially, there's a part of our
- 5:20Speaker 1: job that's gathering, you know, beyond observing, like gathering content
- 5:24Speaker 1: for social media stuff. So you know, you take the
- 5:26Speaker 1: video of the rep and you you know, all right,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I get the good blah blah blah, and then by
- 5:30Speaker 1: the time you look back up, the next guy's going.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It was like the pace just felt quicker. I felt
- 5:36Speaker 1: slowed down, and then I felt sped up. And then
- 5:39Speaker 1: in the individual reps too, it was right back to
- 5:41Speaker 1: the huddle, go and go and go. They fit a
- 5:43Speaker 1: ton of plays, a ton of reps into that. I
- 5:46Speaker 1: think they were like just under an hour or just
- 5:48Speaker 1: over an hour and a half, yeah, probably an hour
- 5:50Speaker 1: forty five. They fit a ton of plays into that window.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And it was all I think it was all team
- 5:57Speaker 1: after no, they had won one period, one individual and.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Like a jog through towards the end. That wasn't fully
- 6:05Speaker 2: but it was.
- 6:06Speaker 4: It was heavy, heavy, heavy team.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was. It was good to see. I
- 6:12Speaker 2: it's one day. We have to see this continue and
- 6:15Speaker 2: see its stack and all that stuff, as we're gonna
- 6:17Speaker 2: say about everything that we're going to talk about today,
- 6:19Speaker 2: but it was good to see. I haven't seen that
- 6:23Speaker 2: level of intensity and pace to a Patriots practice in
- 6:28Speaker 2: a couple of years, and so I thought that was
- 6:30Speaker 2: good to see, just right off the jump. And then
- 6:33Speaker 2: the other thing that we have to talk about, and
- 6:36Speaker 2: you know, with all of the tabling it as many
- 6:40Speaker 2: times as I can, it's it was May twentieth. It
- 6:43Speaker 2: was the second Ota practice. It's a new offense. He
- 6:47Speaker 2: doesn't have everybody out there with him just yet. Like
- 6:50Speaker 2: all of the tabling we can possibly put out there,
- 6:54Speaker 2: the numbers and the you know the facts about Drake
- 6:58Speaker 2: May throwing four interceptions in practice yesterday. I would say
- 7:03Speaker 2: the biggest thing to me is like, I'm not surprised
- 7:06Speaker 2: that this is where they're at on week one of
- 7:08Speaker 2: OTA's for all of the obvious reasons that you stayed
- 7:12Speaker 2: about any offense. You know, it's all about timing and
- 7:15Speaker 2: route detail and knowing you know where reads are going
- 7:19Speaker 2: to take you, and understanding protections and things like. All
- 7:23Speaker 2: these minutia. All this nuance to playing offense is why
- 7:27Speaker 2: the defense is typically ahead of the offense this time
- 7:29Speaker 2: of year. It's just it's a more detailed thing. I
- 7:32Speaker 2: would say the biggest one being the timing and just
- 7:34Speaker 2: the overall rhythm of the offense. You have to sort
- 7:37Speaker 2: of rep it in order to get that going that
- 7:41Speaker 2: time and going. And I also just wouldn't I'm not
- 7:44Speaker 2: overly surprised that with a Josh McDaniels offense that they
- 7:50Speaker 2: are where they are, like based off of yesterday at least,
- 7:53Speaker 2: and that it's going to be a little bit clunky
- 7:55Speaker 2: at times and there's going to be a little bit
- 7:56Speaker 2: of a learning curve at times doesn't surprise me in
- 7:58Speaker 2: the least. So it's a long way saying my concern
- 8:01Speaker 2: level for it is like zero. You know, I'm not
- 8:03Speaker 2: worried at all. It's not ideal, it's not what you
- 8:06Speaker 2: want to talk about. I wish that we could come
- 8:08Speaker 2: on here and talk about that. He'd lit it up,
- 8:10Speaker 2: like that's what we would all like to see. But
- 8:12Speaker 2: I'm not surprised. It looked a little bit to me
- 8:15Speaker 2: like how it looked for him early on in training
- 8:17Speaker 2: camp last year when he was adjusting to Alex van
- 8:20Speaker 2: Peltz offense. So we know that there's a you know what,
- 8:22Speaker 2: Drake may there there there could be an adjustment to
- 8:25Speaker 2: this offense. Now, the only thing that I would hope
- 8:28Speaker 2: for is that it a sends quite a little bit quicker.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You know, hopefully we get to training camp in July
- 8:35Speaker 2: and he's already we're already past this right last year
- 8:39Speaker 2: it took a couple of weeks into training camp for
- 8:40Speaker 2: him to get past it, and hopefully we're already past
- 8:43Speaker 2: this by the time we get to July and to
- 8:45Speaker 2: the real stuff in August. So my concern level again
- 8:48Speaker 2: is zero, But it is notable that this is where
- 8:52Speaker 2: we're at and it's not a continuation from last year.
- 8:55Speaker 2: We're kind of starting over in some respects and that's
- 8:58Speaker 2: why it's not surprising. But that's just the truth that
- 9:01Speaker 2: seems to be where we're at right now.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, look, it's not nothing. It's something that you keep
- 9:06Speaker 1: in mind and moving forward. Okay, he had a first word,
- 9:08Speaker 1: he had a bad first day. Can he get better?
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I don't think it's the be all end all. I
- 9:13Speaker 1: don't think this is indicative of what he's going to be.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But clearly there's room to grow and it's not going
- 9:18Speaker 1: to be it maybe isn't the smoothest transition, which we
- 9:20Speaker 1: kind of knew going in. So also, like, let's not
- 9:24Speaker 1: take credit away Christian Zaaz was awesome.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You said, yeah, I'll get to that.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Two of those picks were just bad, like period, they
- 9:29Speaker 1: were bad. They were on Drake May, they were bad.
- 9:31Speaker 1: The one Gonzales got on the deep ball to Kaylea
- 9:34Speaker 1: Williams just an unbelievable way. So you know, tip your
- 9:37Speaker 1: cap to him too. And it's the kind of thing
- 9:40Speaker 1: where we were joking like, and there were a few
- 9:42Speaker 1: other plays where he was just we were joking that
- 9:45Speaker 1: if the offense on the shot to run, what they're
- 9:47Speaker 1: trying to run. They were gonna have to take Christian
- 9:50Speaker 1: Zalz off the field because he was just too good.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So you know there's some of that, but no, it's
- 9:56Speaker 1: lowercase he concerning you obviously don't want to see Drake
- 9:58Speaker 1: may of a day like that. But now looking forward, Okay,
- 10:02Speaker 1: does he bounce back? Is this a funny story we're
- 10:05Speaker 1: laughing about in January when they make the playoffs or
- 10:08Speaker 1: did this turn out to be the start of something
- 10:10Speaker 1: that was maybe a big issue. There's time to turn
- 10:12Speaker 1: it around, right even if this, if he was doing
- 10:14Speaker 1: this in practice in August, you're a lot more worried.
- 10:18Speaker 1: But for right now, and it's not a linear we
- 10:20Speaker 1: didn't see day one. Who knows, maybe lit it up yesterday. Yeah, right,
- 10:23Speaker 1: it's not a linear process. So it's it's still a
- 10:25Speaker 1: wait and see kind of thing. As in it, we're
- 10:27Speaker 1: gonna talk about players that were good outside of Gonzalez,
- 10:29Speaker 1: who I think is just a stud. A lot of
- 10:31Speaker 1: players we're gonna talk about being good. We're gonna kind
- 10:33Speaker 1: of put the paws on and say it was just
- 10:34Speaker 1: one day.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's a good it's a good look
- 10:40Speaker 2: in to get kind of like a feel for what
- 10:42Speaker 2: it looked like early in the next week. We'll be
- 10:44Speaker 2: out there again, I believe next Wednesday, and then we
- 10:47Speaker 2: have another one, you know, open Ota the following week,
- 10:49Speaker 2: and then you have mini camp in the first or
- 10:52Speaker 2: second week of June there. So, yes, you hope that
- 10:57Speaker 2: every time we kind of check in with this, right,
- 11:00Speaker 2: it gets progressively better and better and better. But you
- 11:03Speaker 2: know where I come from, you said, small sea concern,
- 11:07Speaker 2: like this is a complex offense. It is like we've
- 11:10Speaker 2: we've heard all about it all over the years from
- 11:13Speaker 2: you know, anybody that played in this offense in the past,
- 11:16Speaker 2: that this is a complex offense. So to come in
- 11:19Speaker 2: in May and already have it be a fine, well
- 11:22Speaker 2: oiled machine was probably pretty unrealistic. Like it's just is
- 11:26Speaker 2: not that kind of system that's going to take hold
- 11:29Speaker 2: as quickly as it can. You know, I talked before
- 11:31Speaker 2: and I'll say it again. I think my only small
- 11:34Speaker 2: stea concern about this entire thing is how much they're
- 11:36Speaker 2: putting on Drake May's plate. And this isn't about yesterday.
- 11:40Speaker 2: This is just a general thought about this entire uh setup,
- 11:45Speaker 2: Like it's nothing to do with what happened in the
- 11:47Speaker 2: practice yesterday. If he had lit it up yesterday, I'd
- 11:49Speaker 2: still probably be a little bit concerned about it. Uh,
- 11:52Speaker 2: it's cumbersome for the quarterback. There's all of the pre
- 11:56Speaker 2: snap responsibility is on the quarterback. He is the director,
- 12:00Speaker 2: like he is the the chess master of the offense.
- 12:05Speaker 2: And we've heard, you know, Josh McDaniels talked about this
- 12:09Speaker 2: on podcasts and stuff during his year off, about slowly
- 12:13Speaker 2: adding things to the quarterback's plate and making sure that
- 12:16Speaker 2: you're not dumping it all in his lap at once.
- 12:18Speaker 2: And hopefully that's what we're seeing and that's what they'll
- 12:22Speaker 2: end up doing. But when Drake mad to me, is
- 12:26Speaker 2: at his best is when he's just playing. Like I
- 12:28Speaker 2: think he's a gun slinger, he's a playmaker. He's not
- 12:32Speaker 2: necessarily at his best when he's thinking too much. Yeah,
- 12:36Speaker 2: And I think yesterday what I saw a little bit
- 12:38Speaker 2: of was you know, tentativeness for sure, but also just
- 12:42Speaker 2: kind of like guiding the ball and like trying to
- 12:45Speaker 2: think through every single play and like all that kind
- 12:48Speaker 2: of stuff. Like when he's at his best, he's just
- 12:50Speaker 2: slinging it, like he's just letting it rip. And we
- 12:53Speaker 2: saw that at the second half of training camp last year,
- 12:57Speaker 2: and then we saw it in flashes once he got
- 12:59Speaker 2: in there in the regular season. You need to see
- 13:02Speaker 2: that all the time, Like that's so trying to see
- 13:04Speaker 2: all the time.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So that's one of the other things for me. And
- 13:07Speaker 1: this is probably a lass half full glass, half empty thing, right.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It's not like the four picks in the We maybe
- 13:15Speaker 1: didn't talk about this as much yesterday collectively as we
- 13:17Speaker 1: should have. It's not like the four picks are scattered
- 13:19Speaker 1: throughout a practice. I think it was four picks in
- 13:21Speaker 1: the first six throws something like that, Like they were
- 13:25Speaker 1: all right away and they were all together. So he
- 13:28Speaker 1: did he like he actually finished pretty well. Yeah, he
- 13:30Speaker 1: had a couple of nice deep balls. He had that
- 13:32Speaker 1: throw on the back shoulder to Javon Baker that was
- 13:34Speaker 1: probably the play of the day for the offense.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Had another deep out to Kyle Williams. He didn't let it.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Snowball on him, which was something we saw at times
- 13:43Speaker 1: last year where he would be having a good practice,
- 13:46Speaker 1: he'd make the first mistake and then it would kind
- 13:48Speaker 1: of sit there and you could tell his approach maybe
- 13:51Speaker 1: wasn't the same. So some people might look at that
- 13:54Speaker 1: and be like, why didn't he snap out of it sooner?
- 13:57Speaker 4: Four picks and six plays, right, And that's a fair question.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Some people can look at it and say, well, that
- 14:03Speaker 1: was all in one period, you know, all right, period
- 14:06Speaker 1: ends short, memory reset, and he was fine the rest
- 14:09Speaker 1: of the day.
- 14:09Speaker 2: He didn't really have any problems the rest of the day. Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 2: and they threw quite a bit after that. Yeah, it's
- 14:13Speaker 2: a passing camp, so they threw most of the day.
- 14:15Speaker 2: And you know, the back shoulder throw is probably the
- 14:18Speaker 2: best play to Jay von Baker. I thought the throw
- 14:21Speaker 2: that you said described to Williams on the out was
- 14:24Speaker 2: his best throw of the day. Five yards deep, just
- 14:28Speaker 2: a little cover two whole whole shot, you know, pump
- 14:30Speaker 2: the safety, throw it into the cover two hole like that.
- 14:34Speaker 2: That to me is when he's at his best, is
- 14:35Speaker 2: when when he's feeling it. Is when he's pumping guys
- 14:38Speaker 2: off or looking guys off, and you know, putting the
- 14:41Speaker 2: ball into tight spaces and you know, using that arm
- 14:44Speaker 2: talent and using that athleticism and kind of playing free
- 14:48Speaker 2: and playing loose. You know that that's when Drake May
- 14:51Speaker 2: is Drake May at his best. I thought we saw
- 14:55Speaker 2: that as the practice progressed a little bit more. Yet
- 14:58Speaker 2: another deep ball to Kishan Boudi that I was catchable,
- 15:01Speaker 2: that I thought was a good read and a good
- 15:02Speaker 2: throw that just Booty couldn't you know, finish through contact
- 15:06Speaker 2: and the ball fell incomplete. So overall, I'm I'm optimistic
- 15:11Speaker 2: that this is gonna be fine. Like I feel very
- 15:14Speaker 2: confident in McDaniels and Mike Rabel and to figure this
- 15:18Speaker 2: whole thing out. But we have a show to do today,
- 15:20Speaker 2: as we always like to say, and the show that
- 15:22Speaker 2: we have to do is based off of the practice
- 15:24Speaker 2: we saw yesterday, and cause I always feel like there's
- 15:26Speaker 2: a there's two sides to everything when it comes to
- 15:30Speaker 2: this kind of stuff. You know. One side is like
- 15:32Speaker 2: we can't just ignore it, which I think is fair,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and then the other side is it's day two of
- 15:37Speaker 2: OTAs and you guys are freaking out over like a practice, right,
- 15:40Speaker 2: Like what are we talking about? You know, it's practice.
- 15:42Speaker 2: It's not a game, to quote Alan Iverson, right, it's
- 15:45Speaker 2: somewhere in the middle, of course, like, there's no reason
- 15:48Speaker 2: to panic, there's no reason to freak out. But it's
- 15:50Speaker 2: also our job to tell you what happened at practice,
- 15:52Speaker 2: and this is what happened at practice, right, So it's
- 15:55Speaker 2: always a tough a tough split there. So besides Drake May,
- 16:00Speaker 2: there was a lot of positives, as you said, and
- 16:03Speaker 2: I wanted to start with the free agent signings because
- 16:07Speaker 2: we saw some of the rookies in rookie mini camp.
- 16:09Speaker 2: You know, we got a first look at some of
- 16:10Speaker 2: those guys. This is our first time seeing Milton Williams,
- 16:14Speaker 2: Carlton Davis, Bobby Spillane, no digs right obviously with the
- 16:20Speaker 2: coming back from the ACL, but my first impressions of
- 16:24Speaker 2: all that group. Again, this is a passing camp. We're
- 16:27Speaker 2: talking mostly about quarterbacks, receivers, secondary players. Like we're not
- 16:32Speaker 2: going to really be having any grand proclamations about the
- 16:37Speaker 2: defensive and offensive line in a non padded practice. But
- 16:40Speaker 2: Carlton Davis, man, like those arms they're long, you know,
- 16:44Speaker 2: like you can see the build and the frame that
- 16:46Speaker 2: he has. And you know, along with Christian Gonzalez, who
- 16:49Speaker 2: I thought, I agree with you. I thought Christian Gonzalz
- 16:51Speaker 2: was the best player on the field yesterday and I
- 16:53Speaker 2: don't think it was particularly close, but one of the
- 16:57Speaker 2: advantages and then also one of the disadvantage of having
- 17:01Speaker 2: two guys like Christian Zalz and Carlon Davis is the
- 17:04Speaker 2: advantages those two guys are going to take out a
- 17:06Speaker 2: lot of passing offenses. Like those guys are gonna be
- 17:09Speaker 2: locking down a lot of good receivers hopefully for years
- 17:13Speaker 2: to come. But we'll see. I'm optimistic that's gonna happen.
- 17:17Speaker 2: The flip side of that is it makes practice harder
- 17:20Speaker 2: on the offense, right, so like you're not always going
- 17:22Speaker 2: to see the offense lighting it up. But what were
- 17:25Speaker 2: your first impressions of some of those free agents? And
- 17:27Speaker 2: then I want to talk a little bit of Gonzo,
- 17:29Speaker 2: but to start with the free agents.
- 17:31Speaker 1: To start with the free agent, well, just first off,
- 17:33Speaker 1: under some pressed, Morgan Moses out there, like credit to him.
- 17:36Speaker 1: This is the guy that's coming off of a knee injury.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I think he had surgery, right, he said in the
- 17:39Speaker 1: off season, you know, coming off of that. Wasn't super
- 17:43Speaker 1: involved yesterday, I think because of the medical stuff. So
- 17:47Speaker 1: he got to twelve year veteran, knows what he's doing
- 17:49Speaker 1: out there, isn't going to be doing a ton on
- 17:51Speaker 1: the field anyway, doesn't necessarily need to be here objectively,
- 17:55Speaker 1: he probably doesn't need to be here. Not only is
- 17:58Speaker 1: he here, he's staying after practice to work with the
- 18:00Speaker 1: young tackles. And he talked after practice, you asked him
- 18:02Speaker 1: about this, like how important is from the be here
- 18:04Speaker 1: to help this young offensive line get along the leadership
- 18:10Speaker 1: clearly outstanding from him. That was an observation from him.
- 18:15Speaker 1: The other I'm trying to mc hollands. Same thing mac
- 18:18Speaker 1: hollins was in practicing was in sweats on the first example,
- 18:21Speaker 1: in giving our guys that didn't really do attens, that's
- 18:23Speaker 1: probably not great.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I'm trying to know. The Morgan Moses thing is definitely notable.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I understand that this is this is a very ota storyline. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 2: Morgan Moses taking the young guys under his wing. But
- 18:35Speaker 2: it matters, it matters. You know, he's played tackle in
- 18:38Speaker 2: the NFL for going on two decades now. He mentioned
- 18:42Speaker 2: after practice, Morgan Moses did that he's played with Trent Williams,
- 18:46Speaker 2: he's played with Tyron Smith last year with the Jets,
- 18:48Speaker 2: like he's played with Hall of Fame caliber offensive linemen
- 18:52Speaker 2: and left tackles. That's great. That's great mentorship from Will Campbell.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And I think the thing that stood out to me
- 18:58Speaker 2: the most about it was how much Morgan Moses was
- 19:01Speaker 2: enjoying it. Like it wasn't just like all right, find rookie,
- 19:04Speaker 2: like you know, let's talk right. It was Morgan Moses
- 19:07Speaker 2: was loving every minute of it, maybe even more so
- 19:10Speaker 2: than the young guys were loving listening to him. And
- 19:12Speaker 2: they were out there and on the practice field, and
- 19:15Speaker 2: you know, Will Campbell's like in his past set right,
- 19:18Speaker 2: and Morgan Moses is, you know, trying to walk through
- 19:21Speaker 2: things with him. And you know, if I step here,
- 19:23Speaker 2: you step there, my hand goes here, your hand goes
- 19:26Speaker 2: there like that sort of thing. And that's that's uh,
- 19:29Speaker 2: that's great, Like that's what it's all about. You know.
- 19:32Speaker 2: You hear about all these like summits in the off season,
- 19:35Speaker 2: pass rest, summits online masterminds, like that's what they're doing,
- 19:38Speaker 2: Like that's that's what they do at all these things.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Is you know, these are the moves that are getting
- 19:43Speaker 2: used against me. You know, how do I combat it?
- 19:45Speaker 2: You know, how how do I fix it? How do
- 19:47Speaker 2: I make it? Make myself a more well rounded player,
- 19:51Speaker 2: not only just leading by example in terms of all
- 19:53Speaker 2: the other stuff that I'm sure Morgan Moses does around
- 19:56Speaker 2: the facility. But that's that was really cool to see,
- 19:59Speaker 2: Like I would love to get a microphone in there
- 20:01Speaker 2: and hear what they're actually talking about.
- 20:02Speaker 1: And it's the wild thing to me is like every
- 20:05Speaker 1: time Morgan Moses asked about it, he's like, yeah, you know,
- 20:09Speaker 1: I had great veterans growing up, but he names Trent Williams.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Morgan Moses is like one of the oldest players
- 20:14Speaker 2: in the league.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and he was a rookie for a already veteran Trent Williams,
- 20:18Speaker 1: which has kind of insane and really tipped the cap
- 20:21Speaker 1: to Trent Williams in the career he's had. But the
- 20:25Speaker 1: part of the reason it's just tough talk about the
- 20:26Speaker 1: free agents because I'm running through the list in my head.
- 20:28Speaker 1: A lot of them are on defense. It's tough to
- 20:30Speaker 1: talk about the defense in a practice like this. I
- 20:32Speaker 1: will say this maybe not the name everybody wants to
- 20:34Speaker 1: hear about, but I think it's notable. West Schweitzer all
- 20:39Speaker 1: over the field, all over the offensive line, super involved.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think a lot of people kind of wrote that
- 20:43Speaker 1: signing off as all right, you know, they paid this
- 20:47Speaker 1: guy one year minimum money, played one offensive snap last year,
- 20:50Speaker 1: he's a camp body. We talked about this last week,
- 20:53Speaker 1: Michael Jordan and everybody was writing off at this time
- 20:55Speaker 1: last year ends up being.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Their starting guard.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I had Schweitzer in different different extent, but he at
- 21:03Speaker 1: a certain point lined up at four different positions yesterday.
- 21:06Speaker 2: The only one I didn't see him at was left tackle.
- 21:09Speaker 1: He was early and often at left guard, saw him
- 21:12Speaker 1: snapping a little bit, got some right guard reps briefly
- 21:16Speaker 1: at right tackle with different alignments and different groups and
- 21:19Speaker 1: all of that. So you know, some definitely carried more
- 21:21Speaker 1: weight than others, and it seemed like left guard was
- 21:23Speaker 1: his primary spot. But you know, City Show wasn't there.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Cole Strange was leadon, Robinson wasn't. Col Strange was involved
- 21:29Speaker 1: as well. But Wes Whitzer.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Feels like it's in the mix.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Yeah, percent, It definitely feels like he's really in the
- 21:34Speaker 1: mix more than just all right, he's a veteran.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Its first day of OTA, so he's going to get
- 21:39Speaker 4: the NOD.
- 21:39Speaker 2: So there's some element to that though, right, And I
- 21:43Speaker 2: understand if you didn't know who Wes Whiteser was until
- 21:46Speaker 2: today or still don't, I fully do not blame me, right,
- 21:49Speaker 2: it's a it's a veteran into your offensive lineman who's
- 21:53Speaker 2: been mostly a backup throughout his career. But he does
- 21:55Speaker 2: have sixty two starts under his belt in the NFL.
- 21:58Speaker 2: He's played eight years in the league, two starts across
- 22:01Speaker 2: multiple positions. Now, I talked to Brandon Thorn a little
- 22:05Speaker 2: bit about him off the air, and he just said,
- 22:07Speaker 2: you know you, ideally, a guy like west Sweitzer is
- 22:11Speaker 2: like a super sub. Like he's your top backup on
- 22:13Speaker 2: the interior. The right guard goes down, he can play,
- 22:16Speaker 2: the left guard goes down, he can play. You hope
- 22:19Speaker 2: that you have somebody that's that's starting that maybe is
- 22:21Speaker 2: a little bit better than a guy like west Sweitzer,
- 22:24Speaker 2: but early on in training camp, early on in the season,
- 22:28Speaker 2: just like Michael Jordan last year, until some of the
- 22:30Speaker 2: younger players start to make a push, until some of
- 22:33Speaker 2: those guys start to feel comfortable in what they're doing. Schematically,
- 22:37Speaker 2: this is a time of year where guys like Westwitzer
- 22:40Speaker 2: take a lot of those top reps. It's just is
- 22:42Speaker 2: what it is.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Now.
- 22:43Speaker 2: The question is for West Schweitzer, but in all those
- 22:45Speaker 2: different positions, like well, that's what makes them kind of
- 22:47Speaker 2: like that super sub right, Like, if we consider him,
- 22:52Speaker 2: I don't know if he can play right tackle, but
- 22:54Speaker 2: if we just say that he can play three different
- 22:56Speaker 2: positions on the interior, all three right both guard spots,
- 22:59Speaker 2: and center, there's a ton of value in having that
- 23:02Speaker 2: player around, especially on game day, because if somebody gets
- 23:06Speaker 2: hurt and it's just a one for one replacement, Westwitzer
- 23:09Speaker 2: goes in, he plays right guard and and hopefully you know,
- 23:13Speaker 2: the beat still still goes right and hopefully the train
- 23:16Speaker 2: is still rolling. Whereas if you have a guy that's
- 23:19Speaker 2: really only a one position backup, then you have to
- 23:22Speaker 2: change everybody around to get that player on the field
- 23:25Speaker 2: to replace the player that got hurt. So from that standpoint,
- 23:29Speaker 2: Westwitzer can be a valuable player if he can back
- 23:32Speaker 2: up all three interior spots, that's probably his best path
- 23:36Speaker 2: to the roster. But the other question from for west
- 23:39Speaker 2: Switzer is how long can you hold off Eladen Robinson?
- 23:42Speaker 2: How long can you hold off you know a city,
- 23:45Speaker 2: so Cole Strange I think is going to be in
- 23:48Speaker 2: the mix, but you get the drift, you know, Jered Wilson.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Did Cole Strange look bigger to you?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Maybe in the upper body.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, the thing we've talked about with Cole stranger
- 23:57Speaker 1: guard is he's you know, is he bulky enough? Is
- 23:59Speaker 1: he powerful play way mcdennis wants to play. It looks
- 24:02Speaker 1: like maybe he worked on changing his body type to
- 24:05Speaker 1: be more in the mix there.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, So how long does he hold off those guys?
- 24:12Speaker 2: If at all? I don't know. You know, we'll find out,
- 24:14Speaker 2: we'll see come training camp. But Westweitzer's an NFL interior
- 24:19Speaker 2: offensive lineman, Like, this guy's been around this is you know,
- 24:22Speaker 2: he's not he's not Zach Martin, right, but he's also
- 24:26Speaker 2: not a nobody, Like he's got some experience and he's
- 24:28Speaker 2: got some name value to him. Now, along with Schweitzer,
- 24:34Speaker 2: we saw a lot of close strange on the offensive line.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Will Campbell locked in at left tackle. I don't think
- 24:39Speaker 2: that's a surprise that anybody.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Thoughts that really didn't move we're left tackleing center?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Yeah, brad Berry and Will Campbell. Bradberry at center obviously,
- 24:46Speaker 2: Campbell at left tackle. What are your your feelings though
- 24:50Speaker 2: on left guard right now? Because I do think cold
- 24:55Speaker 2: strange based off what we saw and again it the
- 24:58Speaker 2: table at five hundred more time. We saw one day
- 25:01Speaker 2: of practice. Okay, we we haven't seen a time, but
- 25:04Speaker 2: based on what we saw, it just at least feels
- 25:07Speaker 2: like cold Strange has maybe the inside track. I would say,
- 25:11Speaker 2: like it's good they kind of are. It seems like
- 25:13Speaker 2: they're they're giving him opportunities. Let me put it.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I mean that's what that's what the big caveat of
- 25:18Speaker 1: City so not being there. Yeah, but and I think
- 25:22Speaker 1: Chaired Wilson looked like he might have been limited.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so that too.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think Cole Strange is maybe more in the mix
- 25:29Speaker 1: than me and some other people were giving him credit for. Yeah,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I'll say that I need to see it with everybody
- 25:35Speaker 1: out there to be like he's the favorite, because I like,
- 25:37Speaker 1: just knowing historically what Josh McDaniels.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Is liked City, so would be his guy based off
- 25:44Speaker 2: of that.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Now, maybe it's changed with this year he took and
- 25:47Speaker 1: he went around and he went to all these colleges
- 25:49Speaker 1: and saw offense being run differently. Maybe that changes, But
- 25:52Speaker 1: like traditionally City sow's his kind of guy. So you know,
- 25:56Speaker 1: maybe City shows here next week when we're out there
- 25:58Speaker 1: and he's getting all those reps, and that wouldn't surprise
- 26:01Speaker 1: me at all, but it does seem like Cole Strange
- 26:03Speaker 1: is more in the mix.
- 26:04Speaker 2: He's more in the mix and playing guard. You know,
- 26:08Speaker 2: he played a little bit of center in warm ups
- 26:10Speaker 2: and like walk through type drills, but once they got
- 26:12Speaker 2: into full team, he was playing guard. I didn't see
- 26:15Speaker 2: him take any center any snaps once they got into
- 26:19Speaker 2: the full team stuff. Kad and Wallace top backup at
- 26:22Speaker 2: right tackle. It seems like, at least for now, you know,
- 26:25Speaker 2: we'll see what happens. I kind of like that. I
- 26:28Speaker 2: think there's a there's a chance, and I know it
- 26:30Speaker 2: might be a year or two from now. Maybe that's
- 26:32Speaker 2: a little bit too long for some people's liking, but
- 26:35Speaker 2: the passing of the torch that could go on there
- 26:37Speaker 2: from Moses to Kayden Wallace makes a lot of sense.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It would obviously be a lot more seamless for the
- 26:42Speaker 2: Patriots if they didn't have to then go use another
- 26:45Speaker 2: draft pick and here on right tackle, because they feel
- 26:48Speaker 2: like they have one with Kid and Wallace. But the
- 26:50Speaker 2: last thing on the offensive line, I didn't I didn't
- 26:54Speaker 2: take it lightly that when they were doing team and
- 26:57Speaker 2: Drake was struggling, his whole rights of the offensive line
- 27:01Speaker 2: was on the other field, not participating like you know,
- 27:04Speaker 2: like Morgan Moses and Mike on Wenho were on the
- 27:07Speaker 2: other side of it, and they were working with Jared Wilson,
- 27:09Speaker 2: and they were working with Jared Wilson. So I think
- 27:11Speaker 2: there's a good case to be made that three of
- 27:14Speaker 2: the five best linemen on the team were not participating
- 27:17Speaker 2: in those team drills. So it'd be interesting to see
- 27:19Speaker 2: what it looks like once those two, especially the two veterans.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I don't know where Jared Wilson's going to factor into
- 27:25Speaker 2: all this, or when I should say Jared Wilson's going
- 27:28Speaker 2: to factor all into all of this, but those two
- 27:31Speaker 2: veterans were not participating in the competitive team periods, so
- 27:35Speaker 2: maybe that will help, you know, having a more solidified pocket.
- 27:39Speaker 2: But let's gush a little bit about Christian Zalez, because
- 27:43Speaker 2: I thought he was the best player on the field yesterday.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I didn't think he was particularly close. I thought he
- 27:48Speaker 2: looked even more like confident and comfortable than maybe even
- 27:53Speaker 2: what we saw last year when he was a second
- 27:55Speaker 2: team All.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Bro It's it's even at the podium like he seems.
- 27:58Speaker 4: So He's not a guy talks a lot.
- 28:00Speaker 1: We've talked about this, he's got that kind of step
- 28:02Speaker 1: fun get more quiet sauce.
- 28:04Speaker 2: But was nothing wrong with that.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yesterday at the podium, you know, we had two picks.
- 28:09Speaker 1: He's probably feeling himself a little bit, but yes, Sate
- 28:11Speaker 1: the podium was like as confident as I've ever seen
- 28:13Speaker 1: him with the media, like the whole thing, on the field,
- 28:16Speaker 1: after practice, all of it. He seems calm, comfortable, confident,
- 28:22Speaker 1: And maybe that's having played a full NFL season, which
- 28:24Speaker 1: he obviously didn't do as a rookie.
- 28:26Speaker 4: You're right, but he just seems like he's in a great,
- 28:29Speaker 4: great place right now.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Yeah. So the first interception he had, it was just
- 28:32Speaker 2: you know, coverage rotation. He rotated down into the flat
- 28:35Speaker 2: and jumped to pass into the flat. Not to take
- 28:38Speaker 2: away anything from the play, but the second interception on
- 28:41Speaker 2: the deep ball was just an unreal like that would
- 28:45Speaker 2: have been if fans had saw that, if that was
- 28:47Speaker 2: like in a game like that would have been on
- 28:48Speaker 2: the top of a highlight reel type thing from Christian Gonzales.
- 28:52Speaker 2: So it looked at me like it was, you know,
- 28:54Speaker 2: deep post corner. So Kyle Williams nodded to the post
- 28:57Speaker 2: and then broke on the corner and Christian Gonzale was
- 29:00Speaker 2: like kind of in no man's land, a little bit
- 29:02Speaker 2: in the flat on the back side there, and I
- 29:05Speaker 2: thought that he probably had the deep third of the
- 29:07Speaker 2: field like in like a cover three look, and it
- 29:09Speaker 2: looked open, like it flashed open for a second and
- 29:12Speaker 2: looked like Drake May was gonna be able to get
- 29:14Speaker 2: the ball there to Kyle Williams. And I would estimate
- 29:17Speaker 2: that Christian Gonzalez covered forty yards, like probably about thirty
- 29:22Speaker 2: five forty yards just in a dead sprint right to
- 29:26Speaker 2: the spot where the ball was going and over the shoulder,
- 29:29Speaker 2: just caught the ball in front of Kyle Williams. And
- 29:32Speaker 2: I don't think that Drake May or Kyle Williams thought
- 29:34Speaker 2: there was any chance that Christian Gonzalez was.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Gonna get that bay. You tell me if we want
- 29:38Speaker 4: to step too far.
- 29:38Speaker 1: And it was ota, So there's definitely some hyperbole here,
- 29:41Speaker 1: a little ed reid ish.
- 29:43Speaker 2: It was. It was a great pick, yeah, I mean
- 29:45Speaker 2: it was. And what I thought was even more encouraging
- 29:49Speaker 2: about it is that it was in zone like it
- 29:51Speaker 2: was like it wasn't like he was, you know, lockstep
- 29:53Speaker 2: in in Manton Man which is obviously awesome to watch him,
- 29:56Speaker 2: you know, lockdown receivers in man as well, but sometimes
- 29:59Speaker 2: in zone coverage and early on in his career, in
- 30:02Speaker 2: his career at Oregon, you know, he wasn't it wasn't
- 30:04Speaker 2: a strength of his game. It was he was clearly
- 30:06Speaker 2: a man coverage corner. That was the strength of the game.
- 30:09Speaker 2: But this play at Eyes in the backfield, he was
- 30:11Speaker 2: his own corner, had that you know, deep part of
- 30:14Speaker 2: the field over there. I wouldn't go as far to
- 30:17Speaker 2: say maybe as he baited him into it, but he
- 30:19Speaker 2: just kind of was Johnny on the spot and was
- 30:22Speaker 2: aware and alert to the route that Kyle Williams was running,
- 30:26Speaker 2: and man, did he cover a lot of ground in
- 30:28Speaker 2: a hurry. I think that's one of the things that
- 30:31Speaker 2: always surprises me, even still a little bit about Gonzalez
- 30:34Speaker 2: is how fast he is. Because he's a big dude.
- 30:36Speaker 2: He's like, you know, six', two he's a, big long,
- 30:40Speaker 2: corner but he has got some real track, speed like
- 30:43Speaker 2: he's got some real four to three, wheels and he
- 30:46Speaker 2: certainly showed it on that. PLAY i just thought he he.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Dominated he dominated the practice like there's sometimes you, know
- 30:53Speaker 2: we see that every once in a while from like
- 30:54Speaker 2: A Christian barmore in the past or player like. That
- 30:58Speaker 2: this was a dominant showing From Christian, gonzales and it
- 31:03Speaker 2: can't help but be excited about what's going to happen
- 31:06Speaker 2: here With Carlon davis And Christian. GONZALES i think those
- 31:08Speaker 2: two guys together are going to be a, nightmare.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And that we talked about this that they need to
- 31:14Speaker 1: upgrade to pass, rush and obviously they added some Guys
- 31:16Speaker 1: Calevon Chase, on, who by the, way one of the
- 31:18Speaker 1: last players off the field yesterday stayed late to get
- 31:21Speaker 1: in some extra pass rush. Work but you, know they
- 31:24Speaker 1: added some pass Rushers Chase, On, Landry Milton williams obviously
- 31:27Speaker 1: in the.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Middle BUT i said this at the time and you
- 31:30Speaker 4: kind of saw it.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yesterday Adding Carlton davis And gonzalez taking that next step
- 31:36Speaker 1: is going to do as much for the pass rush as. Anything,
- 31:38Speaker 1: yeah because they're going to have more time and vice.
- 31:40Speaker 1: VERSA i Think davis is going to Help Christian. Gonzalez
- 31:42Speaker 1: the one knock On gonzales last, YEAR i think it
- 31:46Speaker 1: was maybe, overblown but it wasn't, inaccurate was that he
- 31:49Speaker 1: didn't have a ton of on ball. Production, yeah didn't
- 31:51Speaker 1: have a lot of pass, breakups didn't have a lot of,
- 31:52Speaker 1: interceptions so AND i think some of that is just
- 31:56Speaker 1: he teams weren't throwing at. Him when they, did it
- 31:59Speaker 1: was like or opportunities where he wasn't going to be
- 32:01Speaker 1: able to make a play on the football because they
- 32:03Speaker 1: could pick on the other side and they had time
- 32:05Speaker 1: to kind of see the. Field Carlton davis on the
- 32:07Speaker 1: other side is going to be a lot harder to.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Test there's going to be a better pass. RUSH i
- 32:10Speaker 1: think you're one of those one of those. Picks the
- 32:13Speaker 1: first pick That christianzalez had was because The patriots got
- 32:16Speaker 1: in on a, blitz, yeah And Drake may had to
- 32:18Speaker 1: kind of throw. Hot AND i think you're going to
- 32:20Speaker 1: see more opportunities like that because the pass rush is
- 32:22Speaker 1: better and teams are going to Test gonzales, more which
- 32:25Speaker 1: is probably a good thing for. Him as we see
- 32:27Speaker 1: the ball, skills he's going to have a chance to
- 32:29Speaker 1: make some plays on the.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Football, Yeah That's that's definitely what stood out to me
- 32:33Speaker 2: was that both plays were eyes in the, backfield Not manta,
- 32:37Speaker 2: man not you, know shadowing receivers like he had eyes
- 32:41Speaker 2: in the, backfield which is what allowed him to make
- 32:43Speaker 2: plays on the. Ball as he said after, Practice and
- 32:48Speaker 2: as much AS i love him And man and everybody
- 32:50Speaker 2: loves him And man for good, reason AND i want
- 32:52Speaker 2: him to play the majority of his coverage snaps in man,
- 32:56Speaker 2: Like i'm not trying to Turn christiganzales into his own,
- 32:58Speaker 2: corner but if he is gonna Have Carlton davis on
- 33:01Speaker 2: the other, side one of the advantages of that, is you,
- 33:04Speaker 2: Know Carlton davis might be able to play the boundary
- 33:06Speaker 2: a little bit more and play THE x receiver a
- 33:08Speaker 2: little bit more than the guys they've had in the,
- 33:10Speaker 2: past which would Allow Christian gonzales to play the field
- 33:13Speaker 2: side a little bit more or the you, know the bigger.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Uh if you're on the hash, right like the longer
- 33:18Speaker 2: side of the, field and when you play on the field,
- 33:20Speaker 2: side a lot of the time you play a lot
- 33:22Speaker 2: more zone on that side of the field compared to the,
- 33:25Speaker 2: boundary where even if you're like man to man or
- 33:28Speaker 2: you're in a you, know like a cover three or a.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Quarters look like if you're three by one and you're
- 33:33Speaker 2: on the, boundary so three receivers, one you, know to one,
- 33:36Speaker 2: side one receiver to the. Other the boundary corner is
- 33:39Speaker 2: basically in man to man, coverage even if it's not
- 33:41Speaker 2: truly a man, call that's basically what's. Happening the field
- 33:45Speaker 2: corner is then more in like a zone coverage or
- 33:47Speaker 2: the way that they pass it off in, matches and
- 33:49Speaker 2: that allows eyes in the, Backfield like there's a world
- 33:52Speaker 2: where that will increase his on ball production where we
- 33:56Speaker 2: might see even more interception interceptions From Christian. Gonzales and
- 34:00Speaker 2: the exciting part about that is, also you, KNOW i
- 34:03Speaker 2: just mentioned his. Speed he's really fast in the open, Field,
- 34:06Speaker 2: like so if he gets the ball and he has
- 34:08Speaker 2: a chance to return, it like he's going to flip
- 34:11Speaker 2: the field and he's going to return it potentially all
- 34:13Speaker 2: the way to the house in some. Instances so that's
- 34:16Speaker 2: exciting to me is that it almost Having davis in
- 34:19Speaker 2: a way almost like frees Up Christian gonzalez to be
- 34:22Speaker 2: a little bit more of a playmaker at, times WHICH
- 34:24Speaker 2: i think is something that they haven't always been able
- 34:26Speaker 2: to tap into because they've had smaller corners Like Jonathan
- 34:30Speaker 2: jones Or Marcus jones playing the opposite side on the.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Outside you can't really allow him to be his zone
- 34:37Speaker 2: corner or have eyes in the backfield and all that.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Stuff so that's exciting With Christian. GONZALES i think there's
- 34:43Speaker 2: another level to his playmaking ability that we might be
- 34:47Speaker 2: able to see now that he has, somebody you, know
- 34:50Speaker 2: Like davis who can kind of take out his assignment
- 34:52Speaker 2: and handle more boundary. Responsibilities a couple of other. Things
- 34:56Speaker 2: and THEN i want to get to the. Rookies we
- 34:58Speaker 2: Saw Christian barmore out there. Participating looked like he was
- 35:02Speaker 2: a full, go a full. Participant i'm like holding my
- 35:05Speaker 2: breath about it a little. Bit i'm not going to
- 35:07Speaker 2: lie to, you LIKE i just crossed my. FINGERS i
- 35:09Speaker 2: hope for his sake that nothing happens and nothing pops
- 35:12Speaker 2: back up for. Him it was good to see him out.
- 35:14Speaker 2: There it was kind of. Cool you, know very first
- 35:16Speaker 2: snap of team, drills you See Kean, White Christian, Barmore Milton,
- 35:21Speaker 2: Williams Harold, Landry, Yeah Carlon davis on one, Side Christian
- 35:24Speaker 2: gonzalez to the other. Side that was the, Vision, like
- 35:27Speaker 2: that's that's the, defense, right that's the core or the
- 35:30Speaker 2: foundation of the defense. There did you take anything away from.
- 35:33Speaker 2: BARMORE i know it's you, know non padded practice for defensive,
- 35:36Speaker 2: linemen BUT i guess like the one takeaway is just
- 35:38Speaker 2: it was good to see him out.
- 35:39Speaker 3: There.
- 35:39Speaker 1: YEAH i, mean he had told us he'd been, cleared
- 35:41Speaker 1: so you knew he was going to be out, There
- 35:43Speaker 1: BUT i cleared could mean so many other, things, right and,
- 35:49Speaker 1: like all, right, well is he going to be out
- 35:50Speaker 1: there standing?
- 35:51Speaker 2: Around is he only going to do?
- 35:52Speaker 1: Individual he didn't come off the field like he was
- 35:55Speaker 1: out there as much As Milton williams and any of
- 35:57Speaker 1: those other, Guys so not just like cleared for, action
- 36:00Speaker 1: but it didn't look limited at, all which is obviously.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Encouraging and like you, said it's a medical.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Thing you Never it's not like he's trying to come
- 36:07Speaker 1: back from a, hamstring, right, Right so you never, know
- 36:09Speaker 1: and you hope for the best, Obviously but it looks
- 36:12Speaker 1: like he's at least his things stand right. Now looks
- 36:15Speaker 1: like he's in as good a place as he can.
- 36:17Speaker 6: Be.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Yeah the other thing with the defensive line just THAT
- 36:20Speaker 2: i thought was notable is JUST i feel Like Keon
- 36:23Speaker 2: white is such AN x factor for this, group not
- 36:26Speaker 2: that he was bad by any means last. Year he
- 36:28Speaker 2: was a good player for them last, year you, know
- 36:30Speaker 2: forty five quarterback. Pressures he was a good. Player he's disruptive,
- 36:33Speaker 2: player but it was. Inconsistent it obviously was really good
- 36:37Speaker 2: early and then kind of tailed off as the season went.
- 36:39Speaker 2: On but he was getting more. Attention and you, know
- 36:42Speaker 2: there's no Bar more at least not at full tilt last,
- 36:44Speaker 2: year and there's nobody else really for offensive linemen and
- 36:49Speaker 2: offensive coordinators to worry about or scheme, about you, know
- 36:52Speaker 2: game plan for during the. Week But Keon white to,
- 36:57Speaker 2: me is a REAL x factor like this this group
- 37:00Speaker 2: could be the defensive line in particular in their front
- 37:03Speaker 2: like they could be really a border line elite if
- 37:07Speaker 2: he takes that next step, right because you if you
- 37:09Speaker 2: assume That barmore is gonna be, himself WHICH i get
- 37:11Speaker 2: is also a little bit of a of a leap
- 37:14Speaker 2: if you, will you know what you're getting In Milton.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Williams SO i, think you, know maybe as a run,
- 37:18Speaker 2: defender there's still some unknown, there but you feel pretty
- 37:22Speaker 2: good that you're getting a really good player In Milton.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Williams If Keon white takes that next step forward and
- 37:28Speaker 2: he's more consistent and he's more gap, sound and he's you,
- 37:31Speaker 2: know keeping the quarterback in the. Pocket he's playing a
- 37:34Speaker 2: little bit more as like a four to three defensive
- 37:36Speaker 2: end with his hand in the dirt and allowing him
- 37:38Speaker 2: to kind of get up the field and not worry
- 37:40Speaker 2: so much about containment and things like. That that, that
- 37:44Speaker 2: to me put like makes the elevates them even. More
- 37:46Speaker 2: like that could really push this group on the defensive
- 37:49Speaker 2: line up another. Level i'm excited to see what they
- 37:51Speaker 2: do With Keon white BECAUSE i thought in the old
- 37:54Speaker 2: scheme he's kind of too big to be a three
- 37:56Speaker 2: to four outside linebacker up on his, feet he's like
- 37:59Speaker 2: too heavy for. That but then he wasn't quite big
- 38:01Speaker 2: enough to be like a two gapping defensive. End so
- 38:04Speaker 2: he's kind of a, tweeter but as a four to three,
- 38:06Speaker 2: end you, know rushing the quarterback and getting up the.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Field like you can see a vision there for Ke
- 38:11Speaker 2: On white being a really disruptive.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Player oh, Yeah, NO i think that he's somebody who's
- 38:16Speaker 1: definitely gonna benefit from this system. CHANGE i think did
- 38:19Speaker 1: he's probably better fit In rabel's defense than the one
- 38:22Speaker 1: he was. In, yeah let's talk a little. Rookies, uh
- 38:25Speaker 1: we Saw Will campbell at mini. Camp rather mean to
- 38:29Speaker 1: go from Ke On white like those two, guys we
- 38:30Speaker 1: saw him go at it a. Ton it's gonna be
- 38:32Speaker 1: a really good and this is no unpadded so you
- 38:35Speaker 1: really can't take off from. It but just the idea
- 38:37Speaker 1: THAT i think there's gonna be a lot of those
- 38:39Speaker 1: two guys head to head in one on ones in.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Team it's gonna be a great opportunity For Will campbell
- 38:43Speaker 1: because Key On white stylistically is the kind of player
- 38:46Speaker 1: that Gave campbell the most.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Trouble now, yeah, big, long, physical uh you, know good
- 38:51Speaker 2: good off the. Ball absolutely So Will campbell, aside because,
- 38:56Speaker 2: look there's not a ton to clean right now About Will.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Campbell he can watch his, footwork he can watch how he,
- 39:00Speaker 2: moves but we already knew he moved, well like he's
- 39:03Speaker 2: a great, Athlete like he's gonna move. Well the one
- 39:06Speaker 2: guy that we didn't see At Rookie mini camp WHO
- 39:08Speaker 2: i thought was impressive yesterday Was Trevon, Henderson patriots second round.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Pick he is just a brick house first of, All
- 39:16Speaker 2: like he's just well built, guy not, big like he's
- 39:18Speaker 2: not you, know he's Not Derrick, henry but like he's
- 39:21Speaker 2: for his, size he's extremely well, built like there's a
- 39:23Speaker 2: compact kind of denseness to his. FRAME i thought his
- 39:26Speaker 2: explosiveness and his speed was evident just watching him from
- 39:29Speaker 2: the eye, TEST i thought he looked. Quick he looked,
- 39:31Speaker 2: fast looks. Balanced he, was you, know catching screens and
- 39:35Speaker 2: kind of jitterbugging around a little bit as well on
- 39:38Speaker 2: some of those. Plays i'm bullish on this. GUY i
- 39:41Speaker 2: think he's gonna be a really big impact player for,
- 39:43Speaker 2: them and not a running backs, guy but this guy
- 39:46Speaker 2: because of his impact that he can make in the passing,
- 39:48Speaker 2: game both as a pass catcher and as a. BLOCKER
- 39:51Speaker 2: i just think that adds a dimension of big playability
- 39:54Speaker 2: that they just didn't. HAVE i think he looked looked
- 39:56Speaker 2: apart and then some to me.
- 39:57Speaker 1: And the burst like when he gets in the open,
- 39:59Speaker 1: field seeing it in, person when he gets to that
- 40:01Speaker 1: top gear is really. Something how quick he can do
- 40:04Speaker 1: it and what that top gear. Is so, yeah he.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Was he was fun to watch.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Yesterday, Yeah Kyle, WILLIAMS i thought again stacked, Today LIKE
- 40:13Speaker 2: i think he gets open now it's OTA's there's no,
- 40:17Speaker 2: contact so you can't you can't get your hands on.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Anybody you can't you, know hit anybody over the middle
- 40:25Speaker 2: of the. Field there's no. Contact so in this, setting
- 40:30Speaker 2: a receiver Like Kyle williams should, shine like this should
- 40:32Speaker 2: be The Kyle Williams. Show but to his, credit you,
- 40:35Speaker 2: know he did get open a couple of. Times yesterday
- 40:38Speaker 2: you mentioned the opacity caught along the sideline on the.
- 40:40Speaker 2: OUT i thought he was initially flashed open on that
- 40:44Speaker 2: deep ball That Christian gonzalez picked. OFF i thought he
- 40:46Speaker 2: created the separation at the top of the. Route the
- 40:49Speaker 2: one thing THAT i would say With Kyle williams And
- 40:51Speaker 2: drake may Is Kyle williams to, me is a type
- 40:54Speaker 2: of receiver that you can't, overthrow like you instead of
- 40:57Speaker 2: throwing the ball to a spot where he has to
- 40:59Speaker 2: then elevate and like kind of win a jump ball
- 41:02Speaker 2: down the, field you've got to lead him and you
- 41:04Speaker 2: got to let him just run underneath it because he's
- 41:08Speaker 2: not a big, dude so he's not a jump ball.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Receiver so more THAT i see him in, PERSON i
- 41:14Speaker 2: know other people have had this comp or have mentioned this.
- 41:16Speaker 2: CALL i do kind of see a little bit Of
- 41:18Speaker 2: Brandon cooks in, Him LIKE i think he's got a
- 41:21Speaker 2: similar size to. Him obviously great. Speed not quite as
- 41:25Speaker 2: fast in terms of time speed As Brandon, cooks BUT
- 41:27Speaker 2: i think he plays really. Fast and then also just
- 41:29Speaker 2: the way he runs routes and the way he, SEPARATES
- 41:31Speaker 2: i think has a little bit Of Brandon, cooks but
- 41:33Speaker 2: Like Brandon, cooks like he's not he's not, big he's not,
- 41:36Speaker 2: Tall he's not gonna win jump. Balls his place rank
- 41:39Speaker 2: is going to be a question. Mark like those things
- 41:40Speaker 2: are all gonna be things they have to work around
- 41:43Speaker 2: or have to work. With but on that play, again
- 41:46Speaker 2: like If Drake may just puts it ten yards out
- 41:48Speaker 2: in front of him and lays it out for, him
- 41:50Speaker 2: THEN i would much rather See Kyle williams try to
- 41:53Speaker 2: run underneath it than have to go high point the
- 41:55Speaker 2: ball in between two. Defenders so they'll work on that
- 41:58Speaker 2: kind of stuff and they'll get that kind and stuff ironed.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Out but the good news is that we're not coming
- 42:03Speaker 2: in here and talking about How Kyle williams can't get,
- 42:05Speaker 2: open like he's definitely getting open. Now they just have
- 42:08Speaker 2: to figure out the catch points stuff and all that
- 42:10Speaker 2: kind of detail that comes.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Along, WELL i thought the other interesting thing And, look
- 42:14Speaker 1: it's just one, day so maybe this is what they
- 42:15Speaker 1: were working. On but that kind of guy In josh
- 42:19Speaker 1: McDaniel's offense traditionally has been a middle of the field. Guy,
- 42:22Speaker 1: yeah but both in terms of where he was aligning
- 42:25Speaker 1: and where he was. Running a lot of his routes
- 42:26Speaker 1: he was on the. Outside he was outside the, hatches
- 42:28Speaker 1: he was outside the. Numbers his two best routes of the,
- 42:31Speaker 1: day we're deep. Outs he caught one of, Them Josh
- 42:33Speaker 1: dobbs under through the, other But Kyle williams did his.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Part so, yeah he gets open, like he gets, open
- 42:39Speaker 1: he gets open on the. Outside, Yeah and this is
- 42:41Speaker 1: what they've been. Missing as much as they've struggled at
- 42:43Speaker 1: wide receiver in recent, years there's a pretty consistent through
- 42:47Speaker 1: line of guys who can take care of themselves in
- 42:50Speaker 1: the middle of the, field From edelman To myers To.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Pop like it's different levels and they do it, differently
- 42:56Speaker 1: and obviously With pop there's like a health, thing but
- 42:59Speaker 1: when they're on the, field they're they're solid middle.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Of the field.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Options it's been that guy outside the numbers to stretch
- 43:06Speaker 1: the defense horizontally to open up the middle of the
- 43:09Speaker 1: field for that player that they've been. Missing so to
- 43:12Speaker 1: See Kyle williams being able not just, win but win
- 43:14Speaker 1: on the, outside that was my big takeaway from esterday
- 43:17Speaker 1: is because you, KNOW i was KINDA i wondered if
- 43:20Speaker 1: they were going to use him at THE x or
- 43:21Speaker 1: was he going to be an inside. Guy it looks
- 43:23Speaker 1: like they're getting ready to play THE x play on
- 43:25Speaker 1: the outside and if he can get open on the,
- 43:27Speaker 1: outside like that's What Taekwon thornton was supposed to, be
- 43:30Speaker 1: So Nikhil harry was supposed to.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Be it's why they traded For Devonte.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Parker we can go through a lot of the wide
- 43:34Speaker 1: receiver moves they've made that they've missed on in the
- 43:36Speaker 1: last five to eight. Years we're, trying we're trying to
- 43:40Speaker 1: get that outside guy to draw attention out there and
- 43:42Speaker 1: open up the middle of the. Field Kyle williams stylistically
- 43:45Speaker 1: is very different than any of those. Players so he
- 43:49Speaker 1: is and To Brandon cooks is probably the last like
- 43:51Speaker 1: really good outside guy they, Had so that that was
- 43:55Speaker 1: encouraging to. Me Yesterday, again maybe yesterday it was, just,
- 43:57Speaker 1: hey today's the outside deck because he can play three.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Spots yesterday was the outside day For Kyle. Williams maybe
- 44:02Speaker 1: tomorrow he's back inside and they're gonna work him. Everywhere
- 44:05Speaker 1: BUT i did like not just seeing that he was
- 44:07Speaker 1: able to get, open but that he was able to
- 44:08Speaker 1: get open on the outside.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Based off of one, day based off of. Yesterday, yeah
- 44:13Speaker 2: the routes That Kyle williams was running reminded me a
- 44:16Speaker 2: lot of how McDaniel's Used Brandon. Cooks is that gonna,
- 44:19Speaker 2: HOLD i, Don't we'll, see, Right but in terms of
- 44:22Speaker 2: the where outs he was running, YESTERDAY i felt LIKE
- 44:26Speaker 2: i was kind of Watching Brandon cooks and the deep
- 44:28Speaker 2: ball That Drake may did throw to, him it, was you,
- 44:31Speaker 2: know he kind of moved into the line of scrimmage
- 44:33Speaker 2: a little, bit kind of gave him some more space
- 44:35Speaker 2: to set up the double move and runs a big double,
- 44:38Speaker 2: Move LIKE i remember it was In Mexico city against The,
- 44:43Speaker 2: Raiders brady threw a touchdown pass To Brandon cooks on that, route,
- 44:47Speaker 2: right like they like that is the type of stuff
- 44:49Speaker 2: that you know they were doing With cooks within the
- 44:52Speaker 2: framework of this. Offense so even though it is technically
- 44:56Speaker 2: outside and you know they are vertically stretching the, feet
- 45:00Speaker 2: it's still within the confines of like what mcdaniels's comfort
- 45:04Speaker 2: zones are, Right like they're still kind of pressuring the
- 45:07Speaker 2: middle of the. Field he's kind of closer to you,
- 45:09Speaker 2: know and more of like a reducer tight split and
- 45:12Speaker 2: not all the way out wide like in the max
- 45:14Speaker 2: split outside the. Numbers it's not in. Isolation just release
- 45:19Speaker 2: and run a go route and beat your. Guide there
- 45:20Speaker 2: might be some of, that but there's more nuance to
- 45:23Speaker 2: it than. That i'm excited to see how they continue
- 45:26Speaker 2: to stack that. Together but it had a little cook
- 45:28Speaker 2: see and feel to, me which is not a bad.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Thing LIKE i Love Brandon cooks, said we're Both brandon cook.
- 45:36Speaker 2: STANDS i. Believe, yeah so all Four Brandon. Cooks moving
- 45:39Speaker 2: on here to the other. Rookies Jared wilson we mentioned
- 45:42Speaker 2: and seemed limited didn't do a whole, time so skip over.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Him the one guy That I'M i need to watch
- 45:47Speaker 2: more of in practice and next WEEK i will do it,
- 45:50Speaker 2: because as you, know my eyes go towards the offense
- 45:53Speaker 2: like it just it's my favorite part of the. Game
- 45:57Speaker 2: it's also you, Know Drake mays the, franchise LIKE i
- 45:59Speaker 2: want to what the quarterback's, doing just happens to be
- 46:02Speaker 2: the way it. Is BUT i do feel like we
- 46:05Speaker 2: should talk about AND i THINK i need to watch
- 46:07Speaker 2: more Of Craig woodson BECAUSE i think he's starting to you,
- 46:10Speaker 2: know he had a couple of flashes In ricky. Minicamp
- 46:12Speaker 2: he had a flash yesterday and made a diving interception
- 46:15Speaker 2: on a tip. Pass is there a world Where Craig
- 46:19Speaker 2: woodson's more involved than maybe originally, thought or maybe not
- 46:23Speaker 2: even originally, thought but just more, INVOLVED i mean helved
- 46:26Speaker 2: as that third.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Safety, yeah, absolutely and he can play a bunch of
- 46:29Speaker 1: different spots and maybe it's not as that true free
- 46:31Speaker 1: safety we thought they, needed but rotating with with dug
- 46:34Speaker 1: And peppers.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Certainly. YEAH i thought he was good. Yesterday he has
- 46:38Speaker 2: a little bit more pure coverage, ABILITY i would say
- 46:42Speaker 2: than the dugger And. Peppers Like duggar And, peppers we
- 46:44Speaker 2: know what they're good, at their physical, safeties their downhill.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Players they play in the. Box you, know they want
- 46:50Speaker 2: to come, downhill take on, blocks you, know blitz maybe on,
- 46:54Speaker 2: occasion you, know cover a tight end or so so
- 46:57Speaker 2: on and so. FORTH i would say That woodson really
- 47:00Speaker 2: feels more like a pure cover, safety like a guy
- 47:02Speaker 2: that can play, nickel a guy that can play up,
- 47:04Speaker 2: top that has you, know ball skills around the, football
- 47:07Speaker 2: that can make plays on the. Ball so it's exactly
- 47:10Speaker 2: what the doctor ordered in terms of skill sets and
- 47:13Speaker 2: like putting that group. Together there's a very good chance
- 47:16Speaker 2: and hand up BECAUSE i did not Have Craig woodson
- 47:20Speaker 2: rated as highly as The patriots drafted. Him there's a
- 47:23Speaker 2: very good chance this was The patriots a getting one
- 47:26Speaker 2: on the old, media, right like this is a good
- 47:28Speaker 2: scout by.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Them.
- 47:28Speaker 2: POTENTIALLY i think maybe they were right on this player
- 47:31Speaker 2: and the media was wrong or the media was too,
- 47:34Speaker 2: LOW i should say on. Him you know a lot
- 47:36Speaker 2: of people had him as more like a mid to
- 47:38Speaker 2: late day three, pick and The patriots picked him in
- 47:41Speaker 2: the fourth. Round but maybe we were sleeping On Craig.
- 47:44Speaker 2: WOODSON i was. Impressed was there any other rookies that
- 47:47Speaker 2: they drafted guys before we get to the undrafted guys
- 47:49Speaker 2: that stood out to?
- 47:50Speaker 1: YOU i Mean Marcus bryant working with more And Moses,
- 47:53Speaker 1: yeah along With Will CAMPBELL i thought was.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Notable borgallis hit all four his. Kicks i'll let you
- 48:00Speaker 2: get to the kickers in a second Two.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Okay, yeah it's it's like the free, agents Like day
- 48:06Speaker 1: three is pretty much all.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Defense, YEAH i would say That Doretty.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Farmer wasn't out, there so so let's, uh let's talk
- 48:13Speaker 1: a little bit about the undrafted rookies and then we'll
- 48:15Speaker 1: circle back to the.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Kickers But bregallis was drafted that come, on.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Okay let's go kickers.
- 48:19Speaker 1: First he hit all, four kind of hit the first
- 48:21Speaker 1: one the first, One, no he, didn't so he.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Didn't he was, good, yeah but didn't hit it.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Right, yeah but there's something to be said for if
- 48:29Speaker 1: you don't hit the ball right and it still goes,
- 48:31Speaker 1: through it means your mechanics are probably pretty, clean good, consistency,
- 48:35Speaker 1: Right so you don't want to see, it, obviously but
- 48:38Speaker 1: when your mis hits are going, through that's generally a good.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Sign.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Uh and then drilled the other three And John Parker
- 48:44Speaker 1: romo missed two a, four missed one wide, right miss one.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Wide, left which kind of means he probably got in
- 48:48Speaker 4: his head started. Overcompensating.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Uh borgalis definitely starts with an edge just being drafted
- 48:53Speaker 1: here in his kicker, competition but, big big win for him.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Yesterday so way too early for This i'm gonna say it, anyways,
- 49:00Speaker 2: Though is there a chance that we get through mini
- 49:04Speaker 2: camp and they just decided that It's borgollis's, Job BECAUSE
- 49:11Speaker 2: i think if he continues to kick like he did,
- 49:12Speaker 2: yesterday every single day and he just passes all the
- 49:15Speaker 2: tests you drafted the kid to begin, with that's already
- 49:19Speaker 2: giving him a leg. Up like you really don't know
- 49:21Speaker 2: anything To John Parker, Romo LIKE i guess the competition
- 49:24Speaker 2: is always good throughout the, summer and it always helps
- 49:26Speaker 2: to have two kickers in, camp maybe to a, degree
- 49:29Speaker 2: but it just feels to me like something like the
- 49:33Speaker 2: ground would really have to fall out from Underneath borgoalis
- 49:35Speaker 2: for him to lose the.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Job SO i think it depends on two.
- 49:39Speaker 1: THINGS i do think it's possible that they make a
- 49:41Speaker 1: decision before roster. Cuts but, one if they want to
- 49:45Speaker 1: Keep John Parker romo in the practice squad is a,
- 49:48Speaker 1: Backup you're probably not going to cut him In june
- 49:51Speaker 1: and then reach down.
- 49:52Speaker 4: To the practice squad late like that's not really how it.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Works and, then like you, said do they just want
- 49:57Speaker 1: to keep that element of competition to just keep the
- 49:59Speaker 1: press sure up on? Board? Gallis you see how he handles,
- 50:02Speaker 1: it that, alone to them may be worth that roster.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Spot i'm not a kicker, expert don't pretend to, be
- 50:09Speaker 2: but based off of WHAT i saw, YESTERDAY i thought
- 50:11Speaker 2: he kicks the ball pretty, clean like he's a consistent,
- 50:14Speaker 2: stroke which is what you want to look. For and,
- 50:16Speaker 2: kickers you, know you can tweak things here and there
- 50:19Speaker 2: if you have a, miss you, know a little, left little,
- 50:21Speaker 2: right you tweak, things but you want to see it's
- 50:23Speaker 2: like a golf. Stroke you want to see it the
- 50:24Speaker 2: same every single. Time he's got a really consistent. Stroke
- 50:27Speaker 2: and like you, said he kind of shanked that first
- 50:29Speaker 2: one and it still went, through which tells you that
- 50:31Speaker 2: he's dead. On he just kind of mishit it so.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Just the WAY i heard, it AND i DON'T i
- 50:36Speaker 1: wasn't close enough to see exactly what, happened but the way it,
- 50:38Speaker 1: sounded the way he hit the, ball and just the
- 50:40Speaker 1: way the ball flight, was my guess is he was
- 50:43Speaker 1: like a tiny step probably, ahead and instead of because
- 50:49Speaker 1: you want to hit the ball like sort of low
- 50:51Speaker 1: right off the, GROUND i think he probably got up
- 50:53Speaker 1: more towards the middle of the ball and that's why
- 50:56Speaker 1: it went like.
- 50:56Speaker 4: That so BUT i think his mechanics were. Clean he
- 50:58Speaker 4: just didn't hit the ball in the.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Rights, yeah, yeah all, right undrafted. Rookies it was you,
- 51:05Speaker 2: know mini, camp rookie mini. CAMP i was all on Land.
- 51:07Speaker 2: LARISON i was all excited About Minnie burkhead over. There
- 51:12Speaker 2: this was A Efton chishm.
- 51:13Speaker 4: Day, well, No Land larrison still got a ton of.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Run but this was an Eft chism. Day, okay we'll
- 51:18Speaker 2: Do chism Firstft chishm looked looked. Good this is more
- 51:21Speaker 2: WHAT i was expecting from. You Afton chism looked. GOOD
- 51:24Speaker 2: i told YOU i wasn't gonna do this with.
- 51:25Speaker 1: RECEIVERS i already gushed About Kyle williams in a non,
- 51:28Speaker 1: padded non contact.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Realistic About Kyle Williams Efton, chisholm comparing him To Brandon,
- 51:33Speaker 2: cooks who has like six one thousand yard. SEASONS i, mean,
- 51:35Speaker 2: stylistically you're not. Wrong, yeah stylistically is a similar play
- 51:38Speaker 2: and to be just really. Quickly but this is going.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Backwards but the one element Of Kyle williams's, GAME i
- 51:45Speaker 2: don't know if he has quite the like three level
- 51:48Speaker 2: speed That cooks, does like to really be like an
- 51:52Speaker 2: over the top vertical field.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Stretchis at his peak was one of the top ten fastest, players, Right,
- 51:57Speaker 1: LIKE i don't know if he has quite but the
- 51:59Speaker 1: one thing THAT i think he's better at Than cooks
- 52:01Speaker 1: is he's a much better ball carrier and he's like
- 52:04Speaker 1: much more aware of like.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Spatial thing last year that he worked on going in
- 52:09Speaker 2: the last. Year, Yeah like he took an end around
- 52:11Speaker 2: yesterday and looked pretty smooth doing. That, LIKE i think
- 52:13Speaker 2: there's that element that maybe he can make up for
- 52:17Speaker 2: the fact that he's not quite as fast down the
- 52:19Speaker 2: field As Brandon, cooks but he's maybe a little bit
- 52:21Speaker 2: better with the ball in his. Hands that's an aside
- 52:23Speaker 2: going To Afton. CHISHOLM i just think that he looks
- 52:26Speaker 2: exactly HOW i expected him to. Look, Yeah like he's
- 52:29Speaker 2: literally just the, Stereotype like he is a jitterbug slot
- 52:34Speaker 2: receiver In josh McDaniels'. Offense and it seems to me
- 52:37Speaker 2: Like josh McDaniels is already a little bit excited about
- 52:40Speaker 2: this guy because he was getting a lot of. Run
- 52:42Speaker 2: it was mostly With Josh, dobbs so like normally this
- 52:45Speaker 2: time of, year that's what you take note of is
- 52:47Speaker 2: like which quarterback is he throwing? Right which receivers is
- 52:50Speaker 2: he running? With but he was running with some of
- 52:53Speaker 2: the guys that have a chance to make the. Roster
- 52:55Speaker 2: like it wasn't like all of his refs were, with you,
- 52:57Speaker 2: know guys at the back end of the. Roster there
- 53:00Speaker 2: were some reps there with some of the top.
- 53:02Speaker 1: GUYS i, mean he WAS i would say he was
- 53:05Speaker 1: with the second, group but he was featuring in that.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Group he kind of reminded me just how he was
- 53:10Speaker 1: used different player of Where Jacoby myers was at this
- 53:14Speaker 1: point in twenty. Nineteen Like Kobe myers caught a ton
- 53:17Speaker 1: of passes From Brian hoyer And Chariot, stadham but he
- 53:19Speaker 1: was sort of the feature guy with that second, Group
- 53:23Speaker 1: AND i think that's sort of he is a quarterback's
- 53:27Speaker 1: best friend type of. Receiver he knows how to get.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Open he knows where to get open against, Zone like
- 53:31Speaker 2: he knows where the sauce spots are and the voids
- 53:34Speaker 2: and how to sit and like how to find those.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Areas he can separate against man to, man like he's
- 53:39Speaker 2: got the quickness at the top of their had to.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Separate had a few nice jump cuts in the open
- 53:43Speaker 2: field yesterday where he made some guys. Miss there's not
- 53:46Speaker 2: a lot of burst or straight line speed, there but
- 53:50Speaker 2: there's a ton of just, savvy like just receiver. Savvy
- 53:55Speaker 2: and even though it, might you, know some people want
- 53:58Speaker 2: to move past, that the stereotype of That Wes, Welker Julian,
- 54:02Speaker 2: Edelman DANNY. A, mondola a type of slot. Receiver there's
- 54:06Speaker 2: always going to be a role for that type of
- 54:08Speaker 2: player in this. Offense that type of player is always
- 54:11Speaker 2: going to be able to thrive in this type of.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Offense AND i just Think eft And chisholm just kind
- 54:15Speaker 2: of checks that. Box, Now, yeah is he going to
- 54:17Speaker 2: go out and be a star and be the Next Julian?
- 54:20Speaker 5: Edelman?
- 54:20Speaker 2: Like probably not, No BUT i thought he he looks
- 54:25Speaker 2: the part of that type of, receiver AND i could
- 54:28Speaker 2: see how you, know third and, six you need seven,
- 54:30Speaker 2: yards LIKE i COULD i could see. IT i could
- 54:32Speaker 2: see that guy being a reliable player for a, quarterback
- 54:36Speaker 2: a chain. Mover, yeah, YEAH i.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Agree i'll talk About Lean, Larson i'll talk about your
- 54:41Speaker 1: guy because he got like he was on the field
- 54:44Speaker 1: with the top. Unit, yeah quite a. Bit and that's
- 54:47Speaker 1: With Romander stevenson nut, there so it comes with that.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Caveat but you talk about that third running back, spot
- 54:51Speaker 1: kind of seems like he's Pushing Antonio gibson.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Already he has some. Bursts.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Yeah now the top end speed is it is he
- 54:57Speaker 1: the fastest running? Back, no but his bill to get
- 55:00Speaker 1: to his top speed out Of cutts is like those
- 55:03Speaker 1: like first ten five to ten. Yards, yeah he is
- 55:06Speaker 1: kind of shot out of a. Cannon so they were
- 55:09Speaker 1: using him in some pony, looks WHICH i thought was
- 55:11Speaker 1: interesting because that's a little more advanced than maybe the
- 55:14Speaker 1: basic stuff you're gonna run with the guys you plan
- 55:17Speaker 1: on just having out there for the. Preseason SO i
- 55:20Speaker 1: thought it was an encouraging day for him.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Yesterday both those, GUYS i definitely you can see how
- 55:26Speaker 2: they fit into this. McDaniels you know the, role you've
- 55:29Speaker 2: seen the role, before you know the look of, it
- 55:32Speaker 2: you know the type of, player and both those guys
- 55:35Speaker 2: fit into those you, know that third down pass catching,
- 55:38Speaker 2: back you, Know rex burkehead type of, role maybe even
- 55:40Speaker 2: if you're projecting him to be a little bit more
- 55:43Speaker 2: well rounded in terms Of laris and then obviously the
- 55:46Speaker 2: slot receiving. Role For, chisholm like you see. It, yeah
- 55:48Speaker 2: those are the types of guys that you see it.
- 55:50Speaker 2: With and, YEAH i probably mentioned this After Rookie, minicamp
- 55:53Speaker 2: but you, know With, CHISHOLM i was talking To Eric
- 55:57Speaker 2: galco who's the director of The Shine, bowl and you
- 55:59Speaker 2: know he's he was, Legitimately eric was legitimately upset with
- 56:03Speaker 2: teams that they Let chishim go undrafted because of the forty,
- 56:05Speaker 2: Time like the forty time is why he went. Undrafted
- 56:08Speaker 2: and his production was just off the charts At Eastern.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Washington and he was just exactly the type of receiver that's,
- 56:15Speaker 2: quick not, fast and is just what he, is, Right
- 56:17Speaker 2: he's just the type of receiver that he, played type
- 56:19Speaker 2: of role that he, plays and And eric really felt
- 56:22Speaker 2: like he should have been drafted and thought that he
- 56:24Speaker 2: was a lot of people, thought you, know better than other,
- 56:26Speaker 2: guys you know, better you know than some of the
- 56:28Speaker 2: other players in that mold that did get. Drafted SO
- 56:31Speaker 2: i think there's some excitement there For ft and Chisel
- 56:34Speaker 2: man layers a.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Cup, More udfa takes yeah real. Quick the guy that
- 56:39Speaker 1: a guy we talked a lot of coming out Of
- 56:40Speaker 1: Rookie Minie.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Camp that we didn't see as much of WAS. Cj. Dupree,
- 56:42Speaker 2: yeah it actually.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Looks like It's jack West over that maybe he has
- 56:46Speaker 1: the early inside track on that third tight end.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Spot For jack.
- 56:48Speaker 1: West, over that's the guy that's dealt with some injuries
- 56:50Speaker 1: and there's some talent there there. Is he's been, hurt
- 56:52Speaker 1: but you, know so that'll be something to. Watch you
- 56:55Speaker 1: gotta give me like thirty seconds On Ben wooldridge because
- 56:59Speaker 1: you were to me for. This YEAH i said, this
- 57:02Speaker 1: and you kind of rolled your. Eyes but there's something to.
- 57:04Speaker 1: This Ben woldridge knows how to be a backup.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Quarterback it's just such a the WAY i, Rolled and
- 57:10Speaker 2: no disrespect To Ben. WOOLRIDGE i rolled my eyes in
- 57:13Speaker 2: disrespect to you because it's such a you take like it's, like,
- 57:16Speaker 2: oh that guy doesn't actually have aspirations to be a.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Start THAT i don't mean it THAT i don't mean
- 57:22Speaker 1: it the sense he doesn't have aspirations to be a.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Starter but this will make sense in a. Second he's
- 57:28Speaker 1: in college for seven. Years he started nineteen, games eleven
- 57:30Speaker 1: to them were last. Season some of that was due to,
- 57:33Speaker 1: injuries but like we heard this last, year a lot
- 57:36Speaker 1: With Drake may when he was Behind Jacoby, versett and
- 57:38Speaker 1: then With Joe milton about how there's only so many
- 57:41Speaker 1: reps available at the quarterback position and how do you
- 57:43Speaker 1: get better when you're maybe not out?
- 57:46Speaker 2: There And Ben woldridge is a guy who has.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Been in that spot quite a bit AND i think
- 57:50Speaker 1: he knows how to make the most of. It and
- 57:52Speaker 1: WHAT i mean by that which stood out to. Me
- 57:54Speaker 1: we heard a lot last year about mental. Reps that
- 57:57Speaker 1: was a big talking point this time last. Year this
- 57:59Speaker 1: is such a where and you see it where the
- 58:02Speaker 1: rest of the when they're running, team the rest of
- 58:03Speaker 1: the offenses on the, sideline the quarterback and this isn't,
- 58:06Speaker 1: uncommon quarterback will go stand about ten fifteen yards behind the,
- 58:10Speaker 1: offense directly behind the quarterback that's in the live, drill
- 58:13Speaker 1: usually next to the offensive coordinator one of the, coaches
- 58:16Speaker 1: and you'd stand back there so you can see, it
- 58:18Speaker 1: and you mentally go through in your, head all, right
- 58:19Speaker 1: this is WHAT i would do AS i see it.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Happen Ben woldridge took that to another. LEVEL i don't
- 58:24Speaker 1: remember seeing anybody do it to this level. Before he's
- 58:27Speaker 1: miming the entire thing where literally down in the quarterback state.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Mic, yeah he's.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Pointing out the, mic he's going through the full. Drop
- 58:36Speaker 1: it looked like its synked up at. Times so this
- 58:38Speaker 1: was when they were split. Fields it Was Drake may
- 58:40Speaker 1: on one, side Then dobbs And woldridge on the, Other
- 58:43Speaker 1: like it synked up perfectly With dobbs and it looked
- 58:46Speaker 1: like a glitch in the. Matrix but there's also times
- 58:48Speaker 1: where like he's pointing out the mic back behind the
- 58:52Speaker 1: play Before dobbs, did and so it's like he's really
- 58:57Speaker 1: making the MOST i think of the situation he's in
- 58:59Speaker 1: and we ultimately he's got to make, plays and he
- 59:02Speaker 1: didn't have a ton of.
- 59:03Speaker 4: Reps it was a lot more favorite Towards dobbs on
- 59:05Speaker 4: that side of the.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Field and, Yeah i'm sure he'll get more chances once
- 59:07Speaker 1: we get into the summer and obviously the, preseason and
- 59:10Speaker 1: he's gonna have to make. Plays but for a guy
- 59:12Speaker 1: that's probably in the outside looking in For ross or,
- 59:15Speaker 1: SPOT i don't think it's, impossible but in the outside
- 59:17Speaker 1: looking in or we know they're going to keep a
- 59:19Speaker 1: third quarterback on the practice, squad but prove he can
- 59:21Speaker 1: be that. Guy this coaching staff that talks so much
- 59:24Speaker 1: about being involved in you know that that level of
- 59:29Speaker 1: engagement all. That, ye that kind of process is something
- 59:32Speaker 1: that's probably gonna go over well for, them go over
- 59:35Speaker 1: well with.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Them so it was.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Interesting it was kind of fascinating to. See i've never
- 59:38Speaker 1: seen anybody do. That it's probably a good thing for
- 59:41Speaker 1: him if. It you, know he has to make plays
- 59:43Speaker 1: at the end of the. Day that's not saying he's
- 59:44Speaker 1: going to Push dobbs for the backup job or, anything
- 59:47Speaker 1: but it was it was an interesting. Process the third string,
- 59:50Speaker 1: quarterback weirdly, enough is going to be talked about on
- 59:53Speaker 1: this team locked. In, well, no it's going to be
- 59:56Speaker 1: talked about because they Traded Joe, milton sure, right and
- 59:58Speaker 1: so it's going to.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Be something we.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Discussed and So Ben waldridge is going to be somebody come.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Preseason if he doesn't look, good why they Trade Joe?
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Milton or if he looks, good see that's why they
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Traded Joe. Milton it's, weird but you know people are
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: going to do. That so it's interesting to watch his
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: process and it is a fascinating process to.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Me so that was a lot of time On Ben.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: WOOLRIDGE i will he's if he's the third, Quarterback it's like,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: fine it's, fine he's if he's on the practice, squad
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: if he's on the. ROSTER i would probably prefer him
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: to just be on the practice. SQUAD i, know you
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: know that makes it harder at the emergency quarterback and
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: all that kind of. Stuff BUT i if he's a
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: third quarterback in, camp, camp barham and then a practice,
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: squad you, know the third, qbeah totally.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Cool, look we know they're going to keep it third
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: quarterback somehow, somewhere whether it's on the practice squad or
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: the active. Roster is it him or are they gonna
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: have to go get, somebody you, know maybe after spring,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: practices before camp or after camp or. Something and so
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: it's the quarterback. Position everything's under a, microscope and can
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: he be that guy or they have to going to
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: go get somebody. ELSE i like his, Process that's basically my.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: TAKEAWAY i like his. Process all.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Right so that was day two overall of. OTAs we
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: didn't mention one. Thing day one of OPEN. Oto we should.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: Give Javon baker credit made the catch of the. Day
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: we didn't talk about.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: It he did still in the mix which we kind
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: of wondered how much he'd be made a great. Catch
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: he's the one guy That Beacon soalies boxed him out
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: on a comeback back shoulder play back shouldered.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: A Great he made a great. Catch you did make a.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Catch you were also we were talking during practice About Jalen.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: POLKHO i believe it's a shoulder right that he heard
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: at the very end of last. Year, yes and he.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Was he was off to the, side but he was
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: working With i'm blanking on a coach's, Name Rolly Larkin Riley.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: State they hire From Ohio. State it seemed like they
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: were running the offense like they were going through the
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: routes that he would be running if he was. Participating
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: so he's kind of Like, woolridge like he's trying to
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: take those mental reps and stay locked. In it doesn't
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: seem like he's he's a full go yet in terms
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: of participating in team. Drills So jalen poll kind, of you,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: know still pacing his way. Back Javon baker made a
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: nice play on that back shoulder. FADE i thought he
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: could have finished a cash down the field potentially too
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: that he, didn't but could play on him on that
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: back shoulder. Fade i'll say the same Thing i've always
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: said About Javon. Baker it's not talent like the. Guy
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: the guy has. Ability he's got a lot of talent
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: and probably would have been drafted even higher if it
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: wasn't for all the other stuff he's. Got it to,
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: me he has to prove that he can be locked
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: in like that mentally bought, in locked in on the,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: system you know that that whole. Thing, like if he
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: can prove that he can do all of that and
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: every it's not the thing about being in THE nfl
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: is it can't be once a week like it has
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: to be every single, Day, right you have to come
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: out and you have to be one hundred percent every,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: Day like that's how you have to be if You're Javon.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Baker if he can do, that which has been a
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: little bit of a, Concern but if he can do,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: that THEN i think he's got all the ability in
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: the world to make this roster and push for playing
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: time because it's not a great receiver. Room it's not
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: like there's a bunch of studs in front of him
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: at that, position especially Until diggs comes, back you, know
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: there is wide open there in terms of reps with this.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Group SO i still think That Javon baker Or Jalen
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: polk can make a. Push But Jalen polk's got to
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: get out there. Again, Obviously Javon baker's got every single
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: day he's got to be locked. In it doesn't mean
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: he has to be first one, in last one out
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: like he doesn't have to be a, cliche but you
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: just have to be as locked in as you possibly
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: can be on all those. Days so that's uh OTAs
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: we took a lot away from one day OF. Ota
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: so that's what we do in a, WEEK i bet
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: you you know will probably none of it will. Matter
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: hopefully in a couple of, weeks hopefully none of those
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: interceptions that we talked about at the beginning of the
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: show will have any. Credence but what we're going to transition,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: now we'll take your phone, calls we'll take your. Email
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: else open up the show, here maybe talk a little
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: bit of push. PUSH i know you have a take
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: on that the receding proposal by The Detroit lyons also
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: being provoked or tabled or, whatever So i'll talk about that.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Too but before we open it up to you. Guys

- 1:05:19Speaker 7: CAMPBELL i Have Colts Bernard, raymond running Back Travon. HENDERSON
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: i Have, Packers Aaron, jones wide, Receiver Carl. WILLIAMS i
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: Have Broncos Marvin nim's, Center Jared, Wilson BROWN'S Jc, tretter
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: Safety Craig Woodson, Titans Comoni, hooker The intensive defensive Tackle Joshua,
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: farmer multiple Teams Carlos, watkins Edge Brandon, Swinston, Saints Carl, granderson,
- 1:05:49Speaker 7: Kicker Andy Borack, Gallas, Browns Dustin, hopkins left, Tackle Marcus, Bryant,
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: Lions Dan, skipper long Snapper Julian, Ashby, Texans john we
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: Quarnerback Kobe MINOR cfl multiple team At gainey and IF
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: udfa pullback Brock lamp The allions of Course. Lessenger so
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: let me know.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: What you guys.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Think, Thanks Thanks, Sean thanks for research. There, YEAH i
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: love doing. Comps it's one of my favorite parts of draft.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Season i'd just love to think about, it and it's
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: just a cool way to kind of encapsulate a. Prospect
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: and no one is saying that those guys are going
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: to be one for one are exactly their careers but
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: it's just a cool way to encapsulate. It i've heard
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: The Bernard raymond comp a time For Will. CAMPBELL i
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: would say That raymond is a little bit what's the,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: WORD a little bit, wider a little bit, longer but
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: not as. NASTY i Think Will campbell's got a little
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: bit more of an edge to him Than Bernard. Raymond
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: BUT i think that's a decent. ONE i think that's
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: a good. One With Travon. HENDERSON i see a lot
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Of Breeze hall In Travon. Henderson that's just my com
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Form Aaron, JONES i GUESS i could kind of see
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: that as, well you, know more of a speed. Guy
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Kyle williams With Marvin. Mims mimms had a good rookie.
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: Year.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: YEAH i really Like Marvin mims coming. OUT i Think
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: mims is a little bit more of a. Returner, yeah
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: he's also he has more ball. SKILLS i don't know
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: that he's the the.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Separator, YEAH i hear. You, Yeah, no those are good,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: comps THOUGH i agree with a lot of.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: THEM i like The Marcus Bryant Dan skipper. One that's
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: actually a good, one big athletic tackle that you can
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: probably get creative With if you want swing tackle, potential
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: he's probably gonna, be you, know, backup fringe. Starter but
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: there's value in that. Guy that's actually that's a good
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Comp Dan.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Skipper Dan skipper has carved out a real nice career
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: for himself In. Detroit, Okay Marcus brian ends up Being
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Dan skipper and he's you, know there a third tackle
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: a tackle eligible guy can spot star like, That Dan
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: skipper is a solid. PRO i Think Dan skipper at
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: a seventh round. Pick all. Day all, Right patty is an.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: Aguam what's Up patty?
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: Gentlemen, hey just a couple of things. Today first. Thing,
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: FIRST i Know i'm just a fan in my opinion doesn't,
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: matter But i'm lobbying For alex to get to the
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: joint practices insane In minnesota ninety eighty. Five if you're,
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: listening get our guys or get your guy. There, great
- 1:08:12Speaker 8: that's the first. Thing AND i wanted to get your
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: guys opinion on. SOMETHING i really feel, like especially if
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: they go into the season, healthy that this defense could
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: really hit the ground running this. Year AND i, think
- 1:08:24Speaker 8: especially if they're able to generate some good pass, rush
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: especially from the, INSIDE i think those two outside corners
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: are going to feast AND i think you, know it
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: might be quarterway midway through the season where the offense
- 1:08:39Speaker 8: hits its. STRIDE i just want to get your guys
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: opinion on. That i'll take it off the. Air as,
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: always the guys are the.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: Best, Thanks, patty appreciate. IT i don't know if You
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: you probably don't know about, this But fred asked me
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: how you were doing yesterday on the. Show, OKAY i,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: said you're doing. GREAT i nothing the faarius about, that
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: BUT i said that we're hoping that you're going to
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: get to joint Practices. Minnesota And fred gave a whole
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: speech at the end of the show that you should
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: show your bosses about why you should be going to
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: join practices In. Minnesota he did not say that you
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: would be coming with. Us he said ninety EIGHT i
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: should send, you but he.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: Did have the whole. SPEECH i appreciate. That frill to
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: check it.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Out, yeah you should check it. Out it was good
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: AND i think he takes like you, know he jokingly
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: maybe he took a little bit of credit for getting
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: you to the, combine which was obviously not, him but
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: where he gave the same a similar speech about the
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: combine and talk that into. Existence so maybe he's going
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: to talk this into existence for you as. Well when
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: will the offense hit it? Stride it's a good. Question
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: there's some elements to, it like When's dig's, Healthy LIKE
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: i think that's a big. Question you, know if that's
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: not until midway through the, season then you know you
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: don't really see the whole offense at its full. CAPACITY
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: i think a lot of people were hoping that we
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: were going to come into this season and even On may,
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: twentieth we were going to immediately be talking about a
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: year or two leap From drake may, right that it
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: was going to be, immediate that he was going to
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: come in more, confident he was going to come in,
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: better and it was just gonna, be you, know flip
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: the switch and we're hit the ground. Running this might
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: be like a two step you, know one step back
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: to go two steps forward situation because of the coaching,
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: change and so it could take a little bit more.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Time but with that being, SAID i still feel like
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: by midway through training camp he will it will click
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: just like it did for him last. Year LIKE i
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: think we're gonna be on a similar. Trajectory now he's
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: going to start week, One he's not gonna start week. Five,
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: like we're not gonna have that whole. Thing BUT i
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: think that there's gonna be a similar timeline or path
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: here just because of THE oc change its second year
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: quarterback to change. Coordinators so obviously there's gonna be a
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: little bit of an adjustment or a learning. Curve BUT
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: i won't start worrying about it until we're probably through
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: Those minnesota joint practices and it's still not.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Clicked let's, say once you get to the, preseason that's
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: where that's where it gets a little more, Worrisome, yeah
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: because that's when you start like the competitive portion and
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: preparing really preparing for you, know you're always preparing for the,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: season but like really preparing for like The Raider raiders
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: and stuff like. That All, Right randy is In. Providence what's?
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: Up?
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Randy here goes how's it?
- 1:11:16Speaker 9: Going?
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Good, so like The ota takeaways, yesterday LIKE i, Thought morgan,
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: moses that guy has got to be the best value
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: signing of the off, season.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Maybe in the WHOLE.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: Nfl right the way he's kind of taken on that
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: mentoring role and embraced it so, Much like he was
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: even talking about giving Key On white tips that guy
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: and having the locker right next To Will. Campbell just
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: these small things that ARE i really think is going.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: To help a.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: Lot and he kind of like looks almost like an
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: older player that's work like working on transitioning to a
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: coaching career after his. Career MAYBE i don't, know but
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: what do you guys think about, that like his? Future
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: do you.
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: Think he'll be a go in the.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: Future and then just question number two was about the
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: fortune in foxboroughs heer as it came out they were
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: talking about Like rabel was talking To bryant after they drafted, him,
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: saying you, know derely impressed everybody when you came, here et.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: Cetera AND i was, thinking there's a lot of guys
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: that did top thirty visits here that they ended up.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Drafting do you guys think that's a trend that continues
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: next year or do you think because a lot of
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: teams the top thirty, visits they use them, differently you
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: know WHAT i, Mean like some of the teams use
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: them as a. Distraction some of the teams specifically don't
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: bring in the guys they want to. Draft do you
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: think this is kind of indicative of how this front
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: office and team was going to operate throughout this.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Regime, yeah it's a good, Question. RANDY i. DO i
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: believe that there's going to be a lot of stock
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: put into this Because Mike rabel is one of those
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: types of, guys at least from What i've, observed that
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: wants to sit across the table from somebody and try
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: to look inside a guy's head and really kind of
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: get to know the. Guy not only, that but, also you,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: know go put the pads on and actually you, know
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: feel guys like he likes to, say on the offensive
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: and defensive. Line they were setting it up really.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: WELL i Know verrabel said he never wants to getting,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: out so maybe that's all. Right THOUGHT i thought we
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: were going to see the. CLIP i thought they were
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: setting it up to play the clip Of Will campbell
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Hitting Mike. Rabel But rabel seems serious about.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: IT i get.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: It he seems. Serious that clip is in the.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: Vault SO i definitely feel like whether it's thirty, visits
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: we don't necessarily learn as much about private workouts pre,
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: draft like The Will campbell workout as a private workout
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: we didn't know about until after the. Draft but those
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: types of things are going to mean something was going
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: to hold more weight BECAUSE i think he's that kind of.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Cat Like rabel wants to get get to know the.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Guy he wants to be across the table from you
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: to study, you put you on the. Spot and that's
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: another thing that you hear a lot about with, him
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: that he wants to make you, uncomfortable like he doesn't
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: know a lot of teams bring guys in to make
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: them comfortable and get to know them like as. People
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: rabel almost wants to test, you like he wants to
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: make you uncomfortable and see how you react to.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: That SO i was watching this old. CLIP i don't
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: know what it was.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: From it just kind of came up on my YouTube
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: this morning Of it must have Been america's game with
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: The Two.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: Bucks yeah In.
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: Gruden, yeah and there's this this.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Thing With John lynch who was, like, Yeah Tony duney
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: would come out and tell, you all, right let's have
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: a good. Day, Yeah Like ingruden would come out and
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: tell You, Lynch i'm gonna throw five quick slants right
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: through your.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: Ear there's nothing you could do.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: About, it like before practice and it's, like what the,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Heck it's like a wake up. Call, Yeah AND i
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: do think there's some of that With rabel where it's
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: like that's kind of and it's not just about the thirty,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: visits just kind of his. Tone it's like he's encouraging
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: you at the same time he's kind of calling you.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: Out so, YEAH i, REMEMBER i believe it. WAS i
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: don't remember who wrote.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: It it was on The. Ringer i'll get the name
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: in a. Second he wrote a piece On rabel going
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: behind the scenes In. TENNESSEE i think it's like the
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three, season right After
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: rabel One coach of The, year and he had his
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: story About Ben jones the. Center there is a longtime
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: center for The titan Where rabel is an early, riser wakes,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: up you, know four or five o'clock in the. Morning
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: sometimes he would wake up and he would Text Ben
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: jones and he's already done like some insane peloton, ride
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: right like, You i've already biked ten miles. Today what
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: have you? Done you know that sort of, Thing And
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Ben jones, said every single morning you'd get a text
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: From Mike rabel motivating him to go work, out, go you,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: know get his day started and all that kind of.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Stuff that's just the type of guy that he. Is all,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: right let's go To pat In PA's panky news hang
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: on that you were gonna. Live let's Take pat first
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: and then we'll go do. It go, Ahead, pat hey.
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: Boy two quick.
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: Things, one why is the viy In Venerian low still
- 1:15:38Speaker 9: on the?
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: Team are very well?
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: Cut these two off throat crosser restep one being.
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: A character is who and the other being you, know
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: an insurance sales and plane dress up as let's.
- 1:15:48Speaker 8: Tackle and the second.
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: Thing is and or season?
- 1:15:51Speaker 8: Two have you?
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: Watched what are your?
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: Thoughts let me?
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: Know?
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Thanks Thanks. Pat so it is not so much with
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: A Venerian. LOW I i you, know, THOUGH i this
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: time of, year you're gonna have like sixteen offensive linemen
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: on the, roster so there's gonna be a lot of.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Guys it is interesting to me just getting out there
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: the holdovers, right especially on, Defense Tavay Anthony. Jennings you,
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: know the two Safeties dugger And, peppers But jennings And.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: TAVAYA i really do find fascinating in particular because they
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: definitely fit A belichick, defense like they're you, Know jennings
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: is a three to four edgesetter through and through like
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: that's what he does.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Well it's an early down edge. Cetter you, Know tavai
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: is A, belichick a fixer hybrid. Linebacker you know that
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: those guys fit the old. System they fit the old.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Defense it is interesting to me that those guys are still.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Around not BECAUSE i don't think that they can, play
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: LIKE i think both those guys are solid football players
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: when used, correctly but it DOES i don't know exactly
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: where they fit into the, puzzle you, know where they
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: kind of cut some of the guys that didn't fit the,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: puzzle you, know So i'm interested to see what. HAPPENS
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: i don't know what he was talking about with the other.
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: THING i, think, like did he start it was one
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: of The Star WARS tv, shows, Right oh, Yeah, NO
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: i don't do THE tv shows as much AS i.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: SHOULD i lost the plot and kind of. SURPRISE i
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: watched The Obi Wan kenobi one that was like kind
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: of like a short, right it wasn't like a full
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: on show where there's multiple. Seasons i've watched season one
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Of MANDALORIAN i. DIDN'T i haven't watched the more recent. Ones,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: yeah not not so. Much but what did you want
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: to tell?
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: Me?
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Uh the they announced this Year's Hard knocks. Team, yeah
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: The Buffalo. Bills that makes a lot of. Sense that
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: doesn't make it's THE mvp of the.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: LEAGUE i thought you don't do it if you were
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: in the playoffs last. Year, Though, no you. Can't it's
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: you might be able to opt. OUT i don't. KNOW
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: i don't remember the. Rules the rules are escaping. ME i.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Do you can do it when you're in the, playoffs
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: but it's when you embarrass yourself in the playoffs is
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: one you can?
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Do there we. GO i do know that you. Can,
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: uh if you switch, coaches, right you're you're automatically. Out
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: so that's why you know The patriots couldn't be. It but,
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: yeah that's interesting one that They're they're an exciting. Team
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: people like The. BILLS i know you don't like The.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Bills you don't understand. IT i thought you, KNOW i understand,
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: it and that's WHY i don't like. YOU i thought
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: you were going to tell me something, different and you
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: can segue into the the in. Season uh is going
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: to be THE Nfc, east by the, Way so maybe
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: More Joe shane On Hard. Knocks That's Jerry Jones specials
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: what that. Is, Yeah so a couple of things from
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: the league meetings this week that we wanted to talk.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: About i'll get to your your toush push take in a,
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: second but this is one that just came across THAT
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: i absolutely. LOVE i think this is awesome and long
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: overdue to give the big boys up front some. Love,
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: so according To Troy, vincent THE nfl Executive Troy, vincent
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: they have a new award that they're going to give
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: away at the end of the. Season with THE mvp
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: and all the other, awards this is going to go
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: to the best offensive lineman in the. League they're gonna
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: call It protector of The. Year it's the best offensive
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: lineman in THE. NFL i love. THIS i think this
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: is long. Overdue no offensive lineman's ever gonna Win rookie
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: of The year OR mvp Or Offensive player of The.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: Year it's just not gonna. Happen they're never gonna get that.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Award you, Know Pass rusher could get that. Award Aaron
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: donald has won like a Million Defensive player of the.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: Years like it's possible for defensive line players to get,
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: awards and it's never possible for an offensive lineman to
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: get an award like this other than you, Know All
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: pro Or Pro. BOWL i absolutely love. IT i think
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: this is. Awesome you, KNOW i don't know who it's named,
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: after if it, is but they deserve. Protector it's Called
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: protector of The. Year, YEAH i don't know if it's
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: LIKE i don't, Know Thomas trophy or something like.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: That, baseball like for relievers was the Delivery man of
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: The year for a, While SO i like.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: That it's kind of creative like. THAT i love. THIS
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: i think that it's long overdue that they get some.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: RECOGNITION i think you could make a strong case every
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: single year that there's certain linemen that are the most valuable.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Players you are the. Best you. Know last Year rookie
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: of The year obviously goes To Jaden daniels in a,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: runaway as it should, have but, like there is a
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: really good case to be made that Besides, Daniels Joe
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: alt was the best rookie in the ENTIRE, nfl but
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: he was never gonna win that, Award and If daniels didn't.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: Exist it was going to go to Like Molik neighbors
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: or something like. That so the lineman gets some, love
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: AND i think that that's.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Awesome well maybe and maybe there's a rookie version of
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: this to come down the road.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: TOO i do like.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: It the next, step and this is either side of the,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: ball offense or. Defense we got to get a linement
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: on the cover Of. Madden Joe THOMAS i thought was
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: a good. SHOT Jj watt would have been. Great obviously
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: too late, There Pina, seul especially if The lions make
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: like another run pin A SEOUL i think could be
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: a cover. Athlete Miles garrett on the defensive line could
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: be a cover, athlete, RIGHT.
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: I would think they Missed, Bodan Aaron donald or.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Whatever but like we are, due and Sometimes madden will
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: line up the cover with like innovations to the, game
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: and they're the cycle in which they tweak things they're
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: a little overdue, to like tweak their offensive defensive line.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Logic so it's perfect you tweak, that put a lignment
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: on the. Cover that's next. Step this is.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: Good next, Step let's get a lignman on the cover
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: of Mad this is. Awesome LIKE i keep, SAYING i
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: think that the linemen are so, underrated and we've seen
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: it here for the last couple of. Years when you
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: have a bad offensive, line it just rerecks your entire.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: Offense AND i get it's a five man unit and
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: it's not about one guy, Necessarily but when you have
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: A Trent, williams A Penny swl you, know when A Jarred,
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: malada when you have a player like that that anchors
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: your offensive line the way that it just makes your
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: offense run both smoothly but also how much more dynamic
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: your offense can. Be, like think about all the different
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: things that The lions can do schematically in the run
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: game because they Have Penny, sewel like all the different
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: polls and all the different leads and all the different second,
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: levels and all the things that he can do in,
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: space and that unlocks like a whole dimension of their
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: run game that other teams just simply can't.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Test so that brings us to the logical, Question, yeah
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: who who's your pick inaugural Winner protector of The Ear?
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Award IF i had to vote on guys last, Year,
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: no who do you think is going to win it this?
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: Year so here's my here's my two cents on. That,
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: okay the one concern THAT i. Have, yeah no offense
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: to anybody in THE. Ap if this is just gonna
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: be off OF, pff his highest graded offensive, lineman then
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: we need to do, better, RIGHT i, Agree, yeah you
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: have to find. It let's not this is.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Weird we're talking about a position like, this disposition getting
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: this award because they're always.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: Overlooked, yeah which is.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: True but now we have to say within, that let's
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: not just make this a tackle. Award, yeah BECAUSE i
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: feel like it could become that MAYBE i don't, know
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: If Joe toney's just passed that. Window Like Joe, toney
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: if they instituted, This Joe tuoney would have won three
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: or four of these are like Prime Zach martin would have.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: Won About Quentin.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Nelson so let's make sure this isn't just a tackle, award.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Not just a tackle. Award AND i, AGAIN i wonder
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: if there's a way that maybe there can be a
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: committee that can at least. Advise did they say is
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: it AN ap award or it says it's an end
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: of season? Award So i'd assume that that means that
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: it's AN ap, award just LIKE Mvp rookie of The,
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: year so on and so. Forth but it's going to
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: be presented AT nfl. Honors like that's that's the way it.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Sounds so it doesn't necessarily need to be. That it
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: goes to like a subcommittee that votes on the, award
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: just within the. Committee but maybe can we have Like
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: Andrew whitworth and Like Dante scarnekia like just like advise the,
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: voters like just like maybe like puts out some, pitches
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: right and be, like this is why this guy deserves
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: it or whatever the case.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Makes what a lot of these awards Are and this
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: is something SO i talked about this another show for
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: The Patriots hall Of, fame, right if they ever want
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: to move away from the full fan.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Vote, yeah and with.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: This you would need to win eight a few years
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: to institute this or maybe find a way to backdoor.
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: It.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: In, sure there are some awards where either a portion
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: of the voting or all the voting is living former. Winners,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: yeah so maybe you take all THE ap linemen from
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: the last ten, years right who want to be a
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: part of, it that's who, votes and then over time
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: that turns into just the previous winners vote, Right maybe
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: that's the way you do.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: It, so IF i had to, GUESS i think there's
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: two guys that are front runners right now for the
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: award next. Year that was your original. Question Tristan WARF's
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: definitely has a very good chance to win this. Award
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: and then you, know those two GUYS i think right
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: now are the two best tackles in football making a tackle? Award,
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: yeah AND i am making an.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: ATTACK i don't know that there's any guards right now
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: that are who's the best garden football? Right it's probably Still, tony,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: RIGHT i don't know To tuney Is so the ap
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: guards last year Were Tony, Miners lindstrom And.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Nelson, Yeah, Lins trim's really good, Streight, yeah but they're
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: not on. THAT i don't know if they're on like
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: A Zach martin. Level, YEAH i.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Know as much AS i said that this probably isn't
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: landon uh is, Land dickerson a, Center, yes he got
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: guard guard vote. Apparently, yeah as much AS i said
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: that this shouldn't be a tackle award this, year it's
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: probably skewy SO i would say wharfs and uh and
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: so we'll have the best, chance outside chance maybe Like Jordan,
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: mylatta you, know just because The eagles offensive line is
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: probably gonna dominate.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: Again SO I Landon dickerson might have played, guard didn't
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: That jurgens play? Center that's? Right yeah About Creede, humphrey good,
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: player good football.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Player some of THIS i wonder if it's going to
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: come down, to like you have to be on a good.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: Line, yeah.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Well SO i what they should do is have AN
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: nfl version of The Joe Moore, award.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Which i'd be all for.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: That so The Joe More award in college, football it's
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: a collective. Award players individually can call Themselves Joe Morrow
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Joe Moore award, winners but it is awarded to the
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: best offensive line collectively in the country every, year and
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: it's basically A Big ten. Award it's Usually, michigan But
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: elis who's won a COUPLE, Ls who's won a Couple
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: washington won one. RECENTLY i think they should have AN
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Nfl Joe Moore award that goes to the best offensive.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Line that would be cool. Too, okay So protector of
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: The year next, year but probably. WHARFS i think one
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: of those GUYS.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: I do hope we get a garter tackle, early to
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: establish the garter center, early to establish the fact that
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: it's not a.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: Tackle not next. Year it's gonna take a couple of.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Years is there a chance That Will campbell ever wins.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: This fourth overall? Pick you wanted to be in the,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: mix be in the. Mix you wanted to be in
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: there and win. It at two win a? Guard would
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: they move? THEM i think he should be in the
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: mix at.
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: He's the best offensive line because.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: There will be still be people bemoaning that they took
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: him fourth.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: Overall, yeah, yeah, okay well you can bemoan that on
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: your own. Time all, right let's let's go back to
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: the phones. Here todd is in mass that says that
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: it's Up.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Todd, hey It's North.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: Carolina, todd AND i about The John Hannah ward for you,
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: know the laughing guys that historically there's a guy that's better.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Than Hannah John hannah got. It, yeah that's, bad not
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: bad like.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: That that hammer's home the fact it's not just for.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Tackles there you.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Go, yeah, honestly sorry to cut. Off should should be
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: the car next for you? Guys if we're named after a, Patriot,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: no offense To John.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: Hannah go, ahead go, Ahead.
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: Todd all, Right So i'm looking at this season and
- 1:27:32Speaker 6: listening to you, guys and you guys have more positive
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: points than negative. Points it's like, this if this, happens
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: this will be good compared to other. Years here's my,
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: question And i'll give you my answer. Quick if they
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: get over five, hundred it's because in my, case it's
- 1:27:47Speaker 6: coaching lifted everybody. Up if they're under five, hundred it's
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: because the old line just didn't make. It so that's
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: my question for you, too BECAUSE i think you guys
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: got some pretty good insights on, that even just In.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: Ota, yeah thanks for the. Call. TODD i would, SAY
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: i know it's over, simplistic, probably but maybe it's just
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: recent recency creeping in because of. Yesterday like this whole
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: thing starts and ends With Drake. May If Drake may
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: takes the next step and has that year two leap
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: and goes to being you, know it becomes A i
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: don't want to put a number on, it but becomes
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: a real franchise. Guy because let's face, IT i think
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: it's premature to say That Drake may is a franchise.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: QUARTERBACK i Think Drake may has franchise. POTENTIAL i think
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: it's the all of the potential and talent in the
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: world to get. There BUT i think it's a little
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: premature to say that he is right. Now If Drake
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: may takes that next step and he becomes a true
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: franchise guy in year, two they will be in above
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: five hundred. Team they'll probably make the. Playoffs, yeah if he,
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: doesn't then they're probably going to fall below, expectation like
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: that's just the nature of The.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: BEAST a lot of this optimism banks on the idea
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: That Drake may takes the year two, Leap like the
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: double digit win projection in large part banks on the
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: idea That Drake may is going to be better than
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: he was last.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: Year AND i get. It you, know they word what
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: ten and seven max rookie year with average quarterback, Play
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: so there is a path with an easier, schedule there's
- 1:29:07Speaker 2: a path that they could still be a nine or
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: ten win, team you, know just based off of better
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: coaching and not beating, themselves an average quarterback play and
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: all that kind of. Stuff SO i understand that there's
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: another side to that. Argument but in order to truly
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: hit their, ceiling and you, know friends of our program
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: and friends of ours, have you, know maybe projected something
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: like thirteen wins in some cases in order to hit
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: those types of, ceilings like they they're going to need
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: the quarterback to get them. There SO i hate to
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: put it all on, him but it kind of a.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: Position it is all on.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: Him, yeah, absolutely all, Right nate is In. Chicago it's, Up. Nate,
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: hey what's, up?
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: Guys how you doing?
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Good what you Got i've got just two.
- 1:29:48Speaker 8: Fun questions for. YOU i wouldn't take them too, seriously.
- 1:29:51Speaker 9: But, UH i was, wondering what do you Think Christian
- 1:29:53Speaker 9: gonzalez's floor and ceiling would be as a wide? Receiver
- 1:29:59Speaker 9: and Then i've got a hut up For Kyle. Williams
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: what DO i think About Calvin ridley as a Com Kyle.
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: Williams i'll take it, off, guys appreciate.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: You, thanks thanks for the.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: Neighborhood, YEAH i don't Mind Calvin. Ridley, yeah that's that's
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: not a bad. ONE a morphinesse.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: RECEIVER I Christian gonzales played, RECEIVER i believe in high.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: SCHOOL i think he. Was some teams recruited him as. Wide, yeah,
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: no he definitely played has played receiver in his football.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: JOURNEY i THINK i don't think it was in, college
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: BUT i believe it was high.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: School, no BUT i think some teams sometimes those guys
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: will like some some teams will recruit you as a.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Corner some teams will recruit you as a wide. Receiver
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: he was a better, corner BUT i think some teams
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: want him to play.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: Receiver, uh what's? THIS i don't. Know i've never seen
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: him play wide. Receiver SO i mean he's a great.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: Mover i'm. Sure i'm sure he could be a good.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Recet like if he had to go out and play
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: receiver tomorrow in AN nfl game with no, WORK i don't,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: know it would probably be so so if you if
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: he actually worked at, it like he has all the
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: natural skills you.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: Need, Yeah i've seen him in practic. This i've seen
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: them make some one handed catches playing faux, receiver like
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: when they do like the the drills where they put
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: a guy against the guy and like you, know the
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: corners play a little receiver to give him a. Look
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: I've i've seen him make some cool catches doing. That
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: SO i bet you he could play receiver pretty. Well
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: it would obviously take, time but it is A it
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: is an interesting question given what's going on In jacksonville
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: With Travis hunter right, now so it would be cool
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: to see some of these guys try. It jordan is In.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: Ohio what's, Up? Jordan two?
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Questions number, one how would you guys feel about The
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: pats either The Samuel. Jr and then, secondly how much
- 1:31:38Speaker 5: do you guys make of it on the offensive line
- 1:31:40Speaker 5: be in a City sell at right tackle And Cole
- 1:31:43Speaker 5: strings plugged in at the starting left.
- 1:31:44Speaker 8: Guard right?
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Now thanks all.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: Taking off their Thanks. Jordan, yeah we talked a little
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: bit about the offensive line earlier in the. SHOW i
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: can understand Why Cole strange would sort of be giving
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: the getting the. Opportunities, well we'll see with. YOU i
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: we brought up brought Up, city so a couple of times.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: Lighton robinson's not quite as, big but he's still more
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: of like a, power physical downhill. Blocker if they're gonna
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: do this type of stuff that they've done in the
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: past with, McDaniels I i do feel like that fits
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: more in their. TYPE i guess at left guard they
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: have been a little bit more athletic in the. Past
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: with you, Know toney obviously being the biggest, one but
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: it's it'll be interesting to see what they do there
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: in terms of left. Guard but what was the other
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: question the? END i don't.
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: Know he was good, TOO i don't. Remember could we
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: like run that?
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: BACK i don't remember. Either it's all, right maybe it'll
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: come to. Me kevin is In. Massachusetts what's, Up? Kevin? Oh,
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Yeah Samuel. Jr, yeah let's Take kevin's call first and
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: we'll get me back to. That what's, Up? Kevin that's.
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: Going i'm a huge fan of the.
- 1:32:49Speaker 7: Podcast my question, is, so with all these Moves patriots
- 1:32:53Speaker 7: have made in the past, offseason what.
- 1:32:56Speaker 8: Do you think they need to do become a now
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: a contender from the fringe?
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: Playoffs thanks for the, call kevinixs uh and thanks for.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: LISTENING i would, say what what do they have to?
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Do so like is this like looking at like what
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: do they have to be better? At or like what
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: do they need to add to the? Roster they need
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: to be better? At managing turnover both? Sides, yeah they
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: turn the ball over less on, offense create more turnovers on. Defense,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: yeah and be better. Situationally those are the two big
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: adjustments they have to make roster. Wise, uh you, know
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: to look ahead to next, offseason you're gonna need to
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: get another tackle in the. Pipeline they still probably need
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: an true number of.
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: APES i think.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Number, one uh coverage dictating, receiver coverage dictating pass.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: Rushers. YEAH i think what you hope, is you, know
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: just from The Big pictures, standpoint is that you do
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: go nine to, eight ten and seven this Year Drake
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: may takes that leap and you're maybe a wild card
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: playoff team and you're you have some momentum and now
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: way there a Dk metcalf wants to come. HERE i
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: know he's you, know In pittsburgh, now But i'm, saying
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: like your more desirable destination.
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: To kar mclaurin's not practicing In washington.
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: To come and add that cherry on top To Kyle
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: williams and maybe to another year Of Stefan diggs and you,
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: know and you keep on building that receiver room a little.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: BIT i still feel like there's places on the roster
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: where their depth could still needs to be in. Reinforce
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: LIKE i feel like right now they have a really
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: solid like all twenty two right like they have like
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: a really solid starting frontline and starting you, know.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Yeah there's always you can always improve the.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Depth if you look at how ridiculously deep The eagles, were,
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: like that's and they don't need to be that right.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: Away that's what you're competing. With, yeah that's what a
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: super and we saw that. Here how many times did
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: they have guys here that played a rotational role at
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: best went elsewhere and we're, like really solid players. Elsewhere
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: that's what a championship team. Is it's not just about twenty,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: two it's about the fifty.
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: Three SO i look at tackle left tackle in particularly no,
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: disrespect but If Will campbell were to miss, time or
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: If Will campbell has to kick inside or whatever like,
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: that you're one step away From Vederian lowe being back
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: on the field right like. That they could probably do,
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: better you, know in the long run, There edge, RUSHER
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: i still feel like you're maybe missing like a true
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: factor edge, rusher like a guy that can be a
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: three down, player you, know A Matthew judon type of
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: player that can do.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: That their pass rush kind of reminds me their wide receiver.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: Room they've got a bunch of, solid complimentary, players but
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: who's the guy that's taken all the Attention.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Love gonzales And Carlton davis on the. Outside you, know
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: with someone asked us about A Santa samuel junior Like nickel,
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: corner is that a spot that they could maybe elevate
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: moving forward To Santa Samuel. JR i feel like it
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: is mostly a slot Like nickel type. CORNER i don't
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: know if he's the, ANSWER i probably would say, no
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: but just in, general like Is marcus owns a guy
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: that can truly stay healthy playing seventy eighty percent of
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: the snaps in that.
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: Role and he's in a contract, here so is he even.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: Right part of The? Yeah so that's that's another spot
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: THAT i look at on the. Roster. NOW i still
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: am interested to see their run defense up the middle
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: of the. Field, defensively now they're gonna want to be more.
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: Aggressive they're going to try to get up the field
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: more and maybe that mitigates some of. It but right,
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: now your best run stuffing defensive tackle is is Kiris? Tonga,
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: again no, disrespect but is that good? Enough? Like is that?
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: Right you, know when it's The jaguars In london last
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: year when they ran the ball nineteen straight times right
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: down your. Throat is this front going to be able
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: to stop that from. HAPPENING i think they're in better
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: shape to do. That but interior, wise and maybe this
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: is just my brain going back To belichick and Like
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: vince Will fork and you, know having like that true nose,
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: tackle it does feel like a little they're a little
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: soft in the middle still at. Times, Yeah so we'll
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: see what happens in those. Spots those are the spots
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: of the roster THAT i look at, now AND i
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: think the good thing about what they've done is it's
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: kind of like what The lions, did where The lions
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: had that draft and everybody poo pooed at the time
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: that ended up being a pretty good. Draft and it
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: Was Jamier, gibbs it Was Jack, campbell it Was Brian.
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: Branch the reason why those that draft got pa pooed
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: was because they were drafting non premium. Positions but WHAT
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: i think what people missed at the Time sam La
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: porter was in, there was that they already had the premium,
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: positions and they already Had Penny, sewol they already had a,
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: Quarterback they already had receivers that they had drafted or
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: high on you year before.
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: They Drafted Aiden, hutchinson The Chanson williams the year before,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: That pinney Seool am And Ross Saint brown and On
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: zeri cause they had pass rusher.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: There so if we assumed that all of the moves
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: The patriots have been and this will not be the.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: Case but if we assume that all The patriots moves
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: that they, made at least the high level ones work
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: and work, out then you go into next year and
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: you don't the issue with needing all those premium. Positions
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: and it's hard to find premium talent at left, tackle,
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: quarterback wide, receiver you, know those pass rusher like these
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: are what everybody's looking. For so you're not going to
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: find that in the third. Round it's just not going to.
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: Happen so now if you are looking at non premium
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: positions and it's adding a run stuffing defensive, lineman and
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: it's adding a slot, corner and it's adding you, know
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: a linebacker play you know, depth and it's a third
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: tackle that it's a little bit better than what you,
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: have like those are easier to. Find maybe you can
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: go about it that. Way all, RIGHT a couple of
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: the emails here and THEN i want to get to
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: Your Touch push take BECAUSE i know you're fired up
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: about that. Earlier, actually give me Your Touch push take.
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: Now So Touch push officially not. Banned it's sticking.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Around they are two votes short of banning. It it
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: was like twenty two to ten and he twenty. Four
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: they did not get the. Votes The patriots reportedly voted
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: against banning The Toush. Push they voted to keep.
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: It they wanted to keep The touch pake in side,
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: history which we Knew Mike rabel had said publicly he
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: was in support of keeping The Touch, Push so it's
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: not much of a.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: Surprise exact or not his exact, quote but his the
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: summation of his exact quote, was it's hard to Stop
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: Lamar jackson when he.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Scrambled should?
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: He?
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: Should he not be allowed to do that. Either so
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: you were happy about?
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: This, Yeah i'm very happy about it because it's a
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: it's a Real the THING i hate about people complaining
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: about the. Touchbush so all, right let me start. Here
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: you don't like it because you can't stop. It there's
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: a very easy, one not very, easy but there's a
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: way to stop the Touch. Push don't let The eagles
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: get to third and, one don't let him get down
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: to the one yard.
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: Line, like that's how you stop. IT i, know but that's,
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: easier said, then but that's how you stop it if
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: they're a good football. Team so.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: Like and then the other thing people say, is, well
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: so some people say there's injury. Concerns all the data
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: suggests that there's no injury. Problems is a lower injury
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: rate than the average.
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: Place so throw that one out the.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: Window and then there's the it's not a real football,
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: play AND i as soon AS i tweed it, OUT
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: i was glad that it's.
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Staying people, like, oh, great more.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: Rugby you might want to look up the history of
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: the sport and where it has its.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: Roots this is Very Bill belichick because it has.
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: Its roots in part and rugby back.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: As much a real football play as anything you're gonna
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: yell at.
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: Me the forward pass was not legal for.
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Years if we want to talk about what Is don,
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: Corriel if we want to talk About Don coriole's big.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: Time forward pass, guy that's a weird.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: Take if we want to talk about what is actually
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: at the core of the, sport what is actually in
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: the history that that play you have to steal here
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: and the seal here and we're into the.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Alley that's That's Vince. LOMBARDY i Know i'm, saying this
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: is what you. Want this is real. Football it.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: Is it is a Real it is as much the
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: essence of the game as there. Is and that doesn't
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: mean you can't throw the ball like there's room for
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: all of.
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: It but there's room for all of.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: It you don't want it to, happen don't let him
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: get to and short situations or be smart like The
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: Tampa Bay buccaneers and signed four hundred sixty four Pounds
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: Desmond watson.
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: As an undrafted free not going to make an. Impact
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: that's how he will against touch.
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: PUSH i mean played. It you even make a point
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: of an impact against the, touchbull the two of.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: Them it's it's it's a real football. Play it's what
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: the game is at its. Core it's not any more.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: Dangerous it's not a gimmick like some people like to
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: say it is It just if it was that, easy
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: every team would do. It why doesn't every team run
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: the touch push year in and year out when they
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: get in a? Third one lot of teams, do and
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: the teams do The bills failed miserably. OUT i saw
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: The patriots try to do it last. Year they couldn't do. It,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: yeah not everybody can do. It it's not like so
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: it's not some broken rule gimmick that you can. Exploit
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: it's The eagles built a team that can capitalize on
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: this one thing and they do.
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: It good for. Them it's the same WAY i.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: Feel now this guy, tabled, thankfully but it's kind of
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the same WAY i felt about That lion's rule proposal
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: to not see the playoffs by.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: Division all, right let's get to that in a. Second
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: BECAUSE i haven't played touch. Push, okay go, Ahead So
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: i'm actually this might surprise. You, YEAH i was not
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: for banning the touch. Push i'm glad it's stay for two. Reasons,
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: ONE i feel as though as A patriots, fan it
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: would be hypocritical for me to now, say, no The
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: eagles are too good at, this so we're Gonna i'm
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: in favor of banning. It the pain we went through
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: this with The, patriots With Bill pollion and The, colts
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: and you, know legal Con man DOWN i legal, contact
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: and the reasons how many rules were written out of
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: the league because The patriots were exploiting the rule and
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: everybody else caught up in arms if The patriots were exploiting, it.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Even though if it was so easy to, exploit why
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: isn't everybody else doing? It you want to change the,
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: rules change.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: THEM i can't sit here and good, Conscience alex and
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: say ban the toush. Push when this was everybody was
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: up in arms and they would do this to The.
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: Patriots So i'm glad for The. Eagles that.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: Good you want to beat the good, teams get, better
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: don't ask the league to stop them for.
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: You the other reason WHY i was for keeping it
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: is THAT i think that The eagles would have just
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: been sneaking it just as well as they would be
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: without the. Push like if you ban the, push push
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: so they couldn't push from. Behind, YEAH i still think
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: The eagles would be like ninety five percent successful on quarterback,
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: sneats like they would be still be awesome at, it
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: because the key to the play is that they have
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: a ridiculously good offensive line and they have a quarterback
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: that can squat like six hundred, pounds, right And Jalen
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: hurts is just a, beast and he's great at burrowing
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: just Like brady, was but he's also just strong and
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: just a. Beast he can drive That piet, Right SO
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: i don't think that teams are gonna be any more
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: successful at stopping The like maybe it would have shaved
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: a percentage or two, off, right BUT i don't think
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: it would have been that. Substantial so to, me this
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: was all just sour graves from all angles because all
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: they were gonna do was not push him from, behind
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: and he was still going to get the first, down,
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: Right and so then what are you gonna complain about
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: banned the? Sneak like you, know.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: There were people saying that that should be the next.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: Step it is because it's non exciting. Play it is
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: a travesty that they almost allowed all of The eagles
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: competitors to just write a play that they have found
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: to be very successful out because they all can't stop.
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: It like that's. Pathetic Like i'm.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Sorry if there's any play that should be written, out
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: it's That Miami dolphins cheap motion because it actually is. Illegal,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: yeah but that's another. Story but to your, point and
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: IF i can transition out of the other, one like
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: you don't want the tush push to be, there get
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: better stop, it get, creative figure out a way to stop,
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: it get better.
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: Players same thing with the divisional. One that Was Sour grape's.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: Too The lions or whoever it was that put it
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: out there like they lost a potential home playoff game
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: and be.
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: Better win your Division like that's it's that.
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: Simple so was The, vikings? Right so The lions are
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: the ones that proposed the. Rule, Yeah and The lions
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: and The vikings both finished with great. RECORDS i can't
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: remember off the top of my. Head both won like thirteen.
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: Games The lions won the, division, right The lions won
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: that last game of the year and They so why
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: did they propose it then if they got the home
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: BECAUSE i think that they just probably felt. BAD i don't,
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: Know it's definitely not. It so The lions won the
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: division but FINISHED i, believe with the same record as The,
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: vikings but won the tiebreaker because of the head to
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: head and they ended up winning the. Division so The
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: vikings ended up being the highest wildcard, seed so they
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: were the five, seed which means that it meant that
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: they had to go on the road on wild card
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: weekend for the first round of the, playoffs even though
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: they had a better record than the team that they
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: were playing against at. Home so that's the way why
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: the rule was. Proposed you made a good point before
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: we got on the air about, it BECAUSE i was
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: thinking about this AND i was, like, well you still
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: make the playoffs for winning the, division, right.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: So you can still Go so it was still gonna be,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: yeah but like if a team got in at seven and,
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: nine they would be the seventh seed instead of the
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: right right eight and.
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: Nine, yeah, yeah so that was WHAT i was gonna,
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: Say like if you were eight and, nine like a
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: couple of years, ago that, happened, right there was a
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: division where the DIVISION i was every few.
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: Years, yeah the most famous one is That seahawks team
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: that got, in and then that was The Marshawn Lynch pismo.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: Run, Right so you could still get in at eight
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: and nine and win the division and you would get
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: an automatic bid into the, playoffs but you would be
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: the seventh seed in the. Playoffs you would not be
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: the fourth seed in the. Playoffs THAT i could understand.
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: Now you made. It brought up a good point, though
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: those for the division end of season games like The
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: vikings and The lions last, year those would be obsolete
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: because both teams were already making the.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: PLAYOFFS i don't understand. This everybody says it makes the
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: games late in the season more. Important it. Doesn't it
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: makes them less. Important if two teams are playing to
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: get a playoff, spot they're playing to get a playoff.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: Spot whereas like if you have two teams at the
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: top of the, division it's gonna be, like you, know in,
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: baseball for how many years The Red sox And yankees
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: would both have ninety something wins and it was you,
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: know they'd meet In september and they're both clearly in
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: the play at this, point.
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: You, know the.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Division it didn't mean anything to win the, Division so
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: it should mean something if you want to get.
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: A home playoff because home playoff games are.
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: Valuable and some people will, say, well you, know it
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: would still mean something down the. Line that's a lot
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: different if it's two teams In week, Sixteen, oh you,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: know this is potential home field advantage on the line
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: in THE Nfc. Championship that's like a month and a
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: half from.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: NOW i don't.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: Care and, yeah we used to do that with The
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: patriots And, colts but that was, different, right and.
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: It still might.
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: Be if they're that, good your wildcard team you can
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: win on the. Road winning your division should. Matter it
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: creates those, rivalries it makes those games mean. More we
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: were talking about The south the, air and it was
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: a really good. Point if they were to pass something like,
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: this they would need to completely change the way they
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: do the, schedule because you don't you shouldn't be playing
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: divisional teams twice a year. Anymore it would be you
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: go to eighteen, games you play the other teams of
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: your conference once each all fifteen of, them and then
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: you rotate playing THREE nfc teams every, year three opposite
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: conference teams every, year so you play the teams in
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: the opposite conference every five years instead of every four.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: Years if, ANYTHING i, think AND i had added, THIS
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: i think they should up the stakes. Divisionally one of
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: the best formatting things THE nfl is done in a
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: long time is Making week eighteen games divisional. Games it
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: wasn't always like. That when The patriots first one The
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Super bowl in two thousand and, one they clinched THEIR
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: i think it was a first round by. Right they
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: clinched their first round by In week seventeen by beating
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: The Carolina, Panthers yeah.
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: Right which is.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Weird SO i love the idea that it's divisional games week.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: EIGHTEEN i want to up the stakes in that you
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: play your first three divisional games Before halloween some Point September, october,
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: right and they're mixed in there. WHENEVER i wouldn't be
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: opposed to opening the season with divisional, games but they're
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: all in. There you play no divisional games until the
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: end of the, year and then the last three weeks
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: are all divisional. Games make it a sprint to the.
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: FINISH i would love to see them do, that just
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: to correct myself from.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: Earlier so they The lions were fifteen to two last
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: year won THE Nfc, north The vikings were fourteen and,
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: three and it came in. Second that last game decided
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: THE Nfc, north that last regular season game That detroit.
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: Won The vikings at fourteen and three as the five
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: seed then had to go on the road To Los
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: angeles to play The, rams who were ten and seven
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: as the four.
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: Seeds why did The lions propose this?
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: NOW i think that here was two years The Vikings
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: lions game or The Vikings rams GAME i think ended
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: up happening at a neutral site right because of the.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: Fires BUT i think that's.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: Besides the point was that the game that was An
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: arizona ip, Right, yeah but that's not Here north. There
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: the point being was that The vikings had a better
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: regular season record than The, rams and The rams got
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: the home. Game that was the, point, Right and so
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: this rule proposal would have made it basically just like
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: THE nba where they just seed you one through seven
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: based on. Record but the only difference would been you
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: know that you still would have made the playoffs if
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: you won the. Division So i'm okay with them keeping
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: it this. Way like the division, RIVALRIES i think it.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: Matters like you, said it makes no. Sense the schedule
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: would make no sense, whatsoever and all of a sudden
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: they took the division out of, it it would make
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: no Sense, onceoever there's a there's a real case to
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: be made for. It now there's obviously it matters still
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: in baseball to a. Degree in hockey they have like
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: the the hockey playoffs is just the? Subconference is that?
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: Stink the whole thing just. Stinks THE nba does one through,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: EIGHT i through ten.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: In The Celtics.
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: Division if you asked, me it's in The Celtics. DIVISION
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: i don't know IF i get it.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: Round, Yeah Knicks. Toronto there's one more? Team is it
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: four teams are? FIVE i think it's.
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: Four so because you said Nixt, TORONTO i thought The
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: magic were about The magic sixers must Be.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: YEAH i, think, yeah here we are talking to selves.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: Again, no there's a QUEST nba doesn't need, divisions like
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: there's zero.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: PURPOSE i.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: THINK i think technically one team from each division has
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: to get in the, playoffs but it like never comes
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: up because only.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: Two but they used. To they used to matter in
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: THE nba like it does in THE, nfl where the
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: division winners and it made no. Sense it's like it
- 1:51:00Speaker 2: just these teams that were winning these divisions were like
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: ten wins worse than they teams below, them you, know
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: and it just didn't make any. Sense so they did
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: away with. IT i think in, football because you play
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: so few, games because the the rivalries have built up
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: in matter because it's also is like territorial to an,
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: extent like you have the border war between The patriots
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: and The, jets and like you still.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: Have also it's one, game it's not a series in the, playoffs.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Right and then you also you, know maybe not so
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: much in THE Anfc east BECAUSE i don't think that
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: there is Quite maybe The patriots and The jets are
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: at that, level but it doesn't feel like there's quite
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: as much bad. Blood but in some other divisions there's
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: some real bad blood between these, Teams like what's IT
- 1:51:40Speaker 2: Thefc south is ridiculous they hate each. Other, YEAH i
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: was it The saints in the in the bucks of
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: The saints and The falcons because they.
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: ALL afc AND Nfc.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: South those teams are in college football, world the college rivalry.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: FIELD i mean they, moved But Niners, raiders there's a
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: lot of hatred. There, Yeah, Hawks niners has some, good
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: good bad blood.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: There so, yeah SO i think it's cool in. Football All,
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: right a couple of emails here and then we'll wrap it.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: Up so this is an email From ford In, savannah
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: WHICH i think provos is an interesting, point ALTHOUGH i you,
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: know there's one THING i have to kind of correct.
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: Her so with the quarterbacks being played like they are,
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: today it seems like a quicker you pay a franchise,
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: quarterback the better the price ends up being in the long. Run,
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: Agree do you think If may proves this year that
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: there is any sense in giving him a long. Contract So,
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: drake they can't Extend Drake may until after his third
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: season in THE, Nfl so no matter, what they can't
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: extend him next. Offseason it's not until this offseason after
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: that he's eligible for a contract. Extension BUT i do
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: agree With ford's overall point that for the most, part
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: that earlier that you do, it the better the deal.
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: Is called that The Dak prescott.
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: Theory so we only have a couple of, minutes and
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: this is probably a bigger topic for, Us but Brock
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: perty just signed a five, year two hundred and sixty
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: five million dollars deal with The San francisco forty nine
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: with one hundred and eighty one million dollars. Guaranteed you
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: know HOW i feel about Brock. Party and my feeling
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: on Brock party is that he's probably over that line
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: of demarcation of pay not, pay like you probably had
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: to pay. Him BUT i don't know If Kyle shanahan
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: and the forty nine ers are ever going to get
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: over the hump with Brock party being their. Quarterback that's
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: the place you don't want to be the place where
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: the quarterback is too good to let him walk and
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: you can't start over because you're not probably gonna find,
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: better but is not good enough to win you With Super.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: Bowl that's, purgatory like that's the worst place you can
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: be with a. Quarterback but looking at Brock party's, deal
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: AND i just said earlier That Drake may is not here.
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: Yet he's not a franchise. Quarterback, Dad he's gonna go
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: another ten to fifteen we're looking so it's not the
- 1:53:44Speaker 2: twenty twenty. Six is the twenty twenty seven offseason That
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: Drake may is eligible for an. Extension If Drake may
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: has a great twenty five and twenty six and then
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: becomes contract eligible twenty, seven you are looking at Giving
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: Drake may fifty five to sixty million dollars.
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: Probably a year, well because who else is gonna sign
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: me in between now and Then.
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: Burrow already signed pretty signed.
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: Side so that's the nineteen, draft that's the twenty, draft
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: the twenty one, Draft Trevor laurron's already, Sign Trevor.
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: Lawrence already, signed twenty two.
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: Draft C J, Stroud, yeah C J stroud will be
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: the one that that resets it. Again and then who
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: was last? Year why CAN i think of, well last
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: N's may And Williams. Daniels oh that was the year. After,
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: yeah you're, Right, no isn't that one you're in?
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: Between?
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: Yah The Kenny. Pickett, oh, Yes Kenny. Pickett, okay that's
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: what we're. Missing Soh, yeah you're gonna look at WHAT. C.
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: J stroud gets and he's probably gonna use that as a.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: Baseline but you, KNOW i go back to Dak prescott
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: was eligible for an extension and in the time The
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: cowboys waited and, Haggled Lamar jackson, Signed Josh allen, Signed
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: Patrick mahomes redid his, Deal burrow, signed and there's a
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: few more in.
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: There they probably the.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: Expectation was initially when When prescott was first, eligible that
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: he was is probably gonna be somewhere in forty million
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: dollars a year about, that which is a, lot and
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: at the TIME i think would have made him like
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: a top five highest paid.
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: Quarterback by, waiting the cow was he is a sixty
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: million dollar.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: Aav, yeah because they waited and let all those other guys,
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: sign because nobody wants to take less money than the guy.
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Before and usually those, contracts you, know the guaranteed money
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: with these quarterback contracts is.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: Everything, yeah usually those. Are they're like almost three or
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: four year. Deal he's second and guaranteed Behind Josh. Allen
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: so you're looking at get signed after you're looking at The,
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: niners for, example once had extension kicks and like perty
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: is A niner for the next like four years and
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: there's really nothing they can do about.
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: It so but the point, being like you're good at these.
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: Contracts if the player is, good the contract's not bad
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: because the cap explodes so. Much Right Patrick mahomes when
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: he first signed that, deal we, were oh my, god,
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: Wow Patrick, mahomes.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: He is the. Cheese i'm still scrolling his deals is
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: an Extremely his deal is like A brady esque, bargain
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: like he he he knew it at the time too
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: when he signed, it like he's signed a team friendly,
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: contract all Out brady.
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: Like even like some of these other guys that we
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: thought signed massive deals at the time did not rank that.
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: High because Even Josh allen's not that.
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: Bad Josh Josh allen six right now in terms of
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: Aav so like just sign the, guy get it over.
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: With the cap will go. Up you'll be able to swallow.
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: It unless you're unsure if he's worth sticking to long
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: term and you want to let it play. Out but
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: if you're convinced he's our franchise, quarterback haggling does you.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: Nothing haggling hurts the, team it helps the. Player it's
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: in the player's best interest to drag that thing out
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: as long as. Possible the CAP's gonna go, up you'll be.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: Fine other players are gonna be paid more than. Um
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: get the deal done as soon as possible if you
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: believe in The the tough part about it, is and
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: then we'll wrap it. Up the tough part about it
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: is is if it's, again if it's, pretty if it's,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: even if It's Trevor, lawrence SO i think is, good
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: but it hasn't really and that hasn't yielded wins all
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: the time In. Jacksonville like those are the tough ones
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: because like you have to pay that guy because he's so.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: Talented you can see the talent With Trevor lawrence is
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: clearly worth.
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: Paying BUT i worry tiny teeny bit that that ends
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: up Being Drake may's, fate where like it just doesn't
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: ever really manifest. Itself but it's so obvious that he's
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: not the problem and he's really good and like you
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: have to pay, him you. Know and that's when we
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: start talking about. Windows And i'll wrap this up With
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: floyd And Redford michigan's, email because you, KNOW i SAID
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: i wasn't gonna Talk, celtics but we're an hour and
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: fifty seven minutes in And floyd is making us Talk.
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: Celtics he emailed in about. This this is the big
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: thing with The celtics to me too as it relates
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: to The, Patriots, like there's, windows, right there's contending. Windows
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: and a big reason why contending windows exist is because
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: eventually two things. Happen your roster gets expensive and your
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: roster ages. Out like those are the two big. Things
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: and if you're The, patriots you know you right now
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: are at the very very. Beginning maybe even you're not
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: maybe even in the. Window yet you're probably like looking
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: her on the. Doorstep, yeah you're probably like looking at the.
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: Window but if you go into the window and you
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: don't maximize that. Window, now in twenty twenty, seven when
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: you have to Extend Drake, may he becomes a sixty
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: million dollars, quarterback and now it becomes a lot harder
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: to fill out the roster around. Him The celtics are
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: in a similar position now where they're in the middle
- 1:58:27Speaker 2: of the.
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: Window they put their chips all in the middle towards
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: the end of the window and then they didn't. Win,
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: Right so now that's the tough spot that you're. In,
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: well they won't WANT i, mean, Yeah i'm mean talking
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: about SO i remember somebody telling me, this And i've
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: said this, before but like the ideal path when you
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: draft a, quarterback when you, rebuild year zero is the
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: ear you.
- 1:58:47Speaker 4: Suck, yeah so year zero's the ear you get.
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: The picture tattoo.
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: Back, well so essentially in this, scenario year zero is
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty, three right, right year, one there's one. Goal
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: there is one, goal and it is the quarterback you
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: drafted AN Nfl, like is he a? Guy is he
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: a guy you're going to invest in build? Around if,
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: not you go back to your. Zero The patriots check that.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: Box they had to make a coaching, change which usually
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: doesn't come with. That but, yeah that's year. One year,
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: two you feel good about the. Quarterback now you start
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: investing around. Them the goal for year two you should
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: be in the mix for playoff. Spot maybe you just get,
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: in maybe you get eliminated the last.
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: Week you should be.
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: Competitive you should be beating some playoff. Teams you should
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: be in the. Mix year, three you should be in the.
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: Playoffs the expectation should be to be in the, playoffs
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: and you should be contending for your. Division maybe you
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: just miss. It you should be contending for your division
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: yours four and. Five because this goes along that rookie
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: contract for the quarterback yours four and. Five that's your
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: real true Super bowl. Window now obviously doesn't go that
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: way for every team that drafts a. Quarterback doesn't have
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: to be that linear the best laid, plans, right but
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: that's kind of the blueprint that you're looking at when
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: you draft a quarterback and you start to. Rebuild so
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: because when you get to your five or when you
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: get to your, six now that new contract kicks in
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: and it completely changes the way you build.
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: It right, now you're expensive, now guys you know that
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: you sign in free agency or older moving on or,
- 2:00:09Speaker 2: now it just it resets the whole. Thing you get
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: to year. Six The bills just ran into.
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: This this was The bills, list and people may hear
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: that and, say, well The patriots did it for twenty,
- 2:00:17Speaker 1: years which is. Rare but part of the reason they
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: did that is going to sound weird to some. People
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: they drafted really well for a long. Time, yeah and
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: so once you get to year six and, beyond now
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: it's about you have to really start hitting on draft,
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: picks and not just first round picks but throughout the
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: draft to beef up your roster around some of your
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: higher paid.
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: Players all, Right so that does it for today's. Show next,
- 2:00:36Speaker 2: week the plan is that we're going to be out
- 2:00:39Speaker 2: AT OTAs On, Wednesday so if it's the same schedule
