- 0:00Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's best music is Magic age nine. Welcome back
- 0:05Speaker 1: to Magic No Filter.
- 0:08Speaker 2: This is a whole new thing, so just give me
- 0:10Speaker 2: a little time to figure out all the workings of it.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It's Scotty and yesterday I got to tell you about
- 0:15Speaker 2: how we have brought in a massive talent in the
- 0:19Speaker 2: country and the world of radio. If you listen to it,
- 0:22Speaker 2: then you understand that that person is the Abby Murphy.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Do you like that? I do?
- 0:27Speaker 2: You know?
- 0:27Speaker 3: You're really hyping me up and I deserve to be
- 0:29Speaker 3: hyped out. Well, I appreciate that. But then people can
- 0:32Speaker 3: be like, oh my god, this is the this is
- 0:34Speaker 3: one of best radio has avers, horrifying.
- 0:39Speaker 2: My whole thing is I love to just build people
- 0:41Speaker 2: up to the standard that I see them as yes,
- 0:43Speaker 2: and then allow that person to slowly see themselves as
- 0:46Speaker 2: that as well. Thank you, Scotty, So that is the
- 0:48Speaker 2: light that I see you. But Abby is somebody that
- 0:51Speaker 2: is new into Magic ninety four nine. You've traveled different
- 0:54Speaker 2: areas for your career and now you're new into the
- 0:56Speaker 2: Tampa Bay area. And we're in day two as we're
- 1:00Speaker 2: navigating this new career together, as we're growing a show
- 1:03Speaker 2: which is so exciting, and why we're doing this is
- 1:06Speaker 2: to make sure that I just wanted to make sure
- 1:08Speaker 2: that you're seeing the behind the curtain of how this
- 1:11Speaker 2: actually comes together.
- 1:13Speaker 1: What are the things that we can't talk about necessarily.
- 1:15Speaker 2: On the air because it's so fast paced, there's other
- 1:18Speaker 2: topics that we have to hit on. But here it's
- 1:22Speaker 2: called no filter because we get to just dive in
- 1:25Speaker 2: to each other, to the workings, to what this will
- 1:28Speaker 2: soon become and what it already is.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I find it kind of fun.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I find it fun as well. You know, I enjoyed
- 1:34Speaker 3: this as a career. I love the big pay us
- 1:36Speaker 3: to do this.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I love to chit chat.
- 1:37Speaker 3: And yeah, it's been great being in Tampa. You've talked
- 1:40Speaker 3: a lot about how there's going to be some exciting
- 1:41Speaker 3: concerts coming through the perks of the job, and really,
- 1:46Speaker 3: like the only thing that I knew I wanted to
- 1:47Speaker 3: see when I came here was I was like, I
- 1:49Speaker 3: want to go to a lightning game, Like I want
- 1:50Speaker 3: to be a lightning van.
- 1:51Speaker 1: There are so many things to see it.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Actually that makes me remember that this past weekend, so
- 1:55Speaker 2: you got in and the first thing that you did
- 1:58Speaker 2: was you went to gasparill oh my god.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, well I got here on Friday, middle of the night,
- 2:04Speaker 3: and then the next day we jumped into the biggest
- 2:08Speaker 3: day in Tampa social on the Tampa Social calendar, which, yeah,
- 2:12Speaker 3: the Pirate Festival outside.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm be sure that's a big thing to jump into.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And as like, we're getting to like obviously learn if
- 2:19Speaker 2: you followed Abbey for a long time, then you're like,
- 2:21Speaker 2: who's the scott guy. Well, you're gonna learn things about me,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and if you followed me for a long time, or
- 2:25Speaker 2: you're gonna learn things about Abbey. And I thought it
- 2:27Speaker 2: was so cool that the first thing that you just
- 2:28Speaker 2: dove headfirst into was one of the biggest events in
- 2:33Speaker 2: Tampa Bay, but you showed up. We were over at
- 2:35Speaker 2: a bar in downtown Tampa. It's called mcdtton's. It's kind
- 2:38Speaker 2: of like the college bar where it's just wild with
- 2:42Speaker 2: people that have just turned twenty one. It's like twenty
- 2:45Speaker 2: one to twenty five, and they're just I don't know
- 2:47Speaker 2: how many drinks they can have, but they have them all.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Scottie and I were looking at each other, we were like,
- 2:52Speaker 3: are we chopped?
- 2:53Speaker 4: And also unk it is the first place that ever
- 2:56Speaker 4: made me feel like, oh wait, I am getting older
- 2:57Speaker 4: because I remember going I went to the University of
- 3:00Speaker 4: South Florida, and that was where you would go on
- 3:02Speaker 4: like a happy hour on a Friday.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So yeah, in college, tore that place up. That's how
- 3:08Speaker 2: it went down. Shots at the bar, let's go. Now
- 3:12Speaker 2: that some years have gone by since then, it's the
- 3:15Speaker 2: first place that made me go, hmmm, am I getting older?
- 3:20Speaker 1: Yeah? And they actually told me, I was if you
- 3:22Speaker 1: have a real.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Idea, you shouldn't be at mcdonn's. Fake id's only at mcgitton's.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I'm curious of.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Your thoughts though of Gasparilla because you've done one before, right,
- 3:31Speaker 2: you went when you were in college.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Last time you went.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Yes, I've had some pretty I've had one Gasparilla experience,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and I'm gonna be honest with you, it's kind of horrible.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, I know I'm the first one was
- 3:46Speaker 2: we're not talking about the one that you just did.
- 3:47Speaker 3: You No, yesterday was great. I mean like the weather
- 3:49Speaker 3: could have been better or yeah, not really Gasparilla's fault.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Like I feel like if I showed up to Gasparilla
- 3:55Speaker 3: and it was hot and there was music playing and
- 3:57Speaker 3: it wasn't raining. I'd be like, absolutely, this is the
- 4:00Speaker 3: best day ever.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone dressed as a pirate and they're just having
- 4:02Speaker 1: a good time.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Yeah, who don't want to dress up like Jack Sparrow
- 4:04Speaker 3: and drinking neutral exactly. So the first guest bro I
- 4:08Speaker 3: went to, I was a junior in college, maybe junior
- 4:11Speaker 3: or senior in college, and I remember I lost my group.
- 4:15Speaker 3: So I was staying in Soho at my brother's fraternity
- 4:18Speaker 3: brothers apartment, and I remember I left the apartment and
- 4:22Speaker 3: I didn't remember what apartment it was, so I couldn't
- 4:25Speaker 3: find anybody.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So nobody was there. What did you? Just wait? Everyone
- 4:28Speaker 1: left and you're like, I'll catch up.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Well, I'm like texting, I'm like where is everybody? And
- 4:32Speaker 3: so my brother's like okay, my brother spent like an
- 4:34Speaker 3: hour trying to find me. I'm just like in the
- 4:35Speaker 3: parking lot, be like where I go? And they found
- 4:39Speaker 3: me and he's like, ok hey, well now I'm annoyed
- 4:40Speaker 3: and you're not dressed and ready to go yet, so
- 4:42Speaker 3: go into the apartment, get ready, and then go meet
- 4:44Speaker 3: your friends. But the problem is a lot of my
- 4:46Speaker 3: friends had gotten tickets for a tent and I was
- 4:49Speaker 3: a cheap skate, and I was like, I don't want
- 4:50Speaker 3: to spend one hundred and fifty dollars to go to
- 4:52Speaker 3: a tent.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Oh my god, an expensive tent.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So I was going to meet up with some other people,
- 4:56Speaker 3: and then those other people like wouldn't meet me out.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It was just kind of So I sat at the
- 5:00Speaker 3: Panera oh and soho for like four hours until.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Little bread bull, a little bread bull, get a little
- 5:05Speaker 2: coffee salad.
- 5:06Speaker 1: They got those big old cookies too.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I so to be fair, like Panero is my favorite
- 5:10Speaker 3: place on earth. For a while, so I was like,
- 5:12Speaker 3: you know what, my mom is happy, but I don't
- 5:14Speaker 3: really think I got the true Gasparilla experience.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That is definitely not it.
- 5:18Speaker 3: And so then when we got out on Saturday, I
- 5:21Speaker 3: was like, this would have been so fun if I
- 5:23Speaker 3: was twenty two, yes, whereas I just felt old and crusty.
- 5:27Speaker 2: You have to what I have learned, because when I
- 5:29Speaker 2: first went as a college student, we used to rent
- 5:32Speaker 2: out these lots. We would pull up in a party
- 5:34Speaker 2: bus all day, there's a DJ, drinks are flowing. You
- 5:39Speaker 2: somehow make it to the parade route. You see a
- 5:41Speaker 2: couple of floats. You're so excited to get a bead.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It's awesome now that some years have gone by. This
- 5:48Speaker 2: is where my brain goes. And I know a lot
- 5:50Speaker 2: of people that have done Gasparilla plenty of times understand.
- 5:53Speaker 2: You have to set yourself up with food, you need
- 5:57Speaker 2: to have your own private area, and you need to
- 5:59Speaker 2: have bathrooms.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Like the best times now are going on the route
- 6:04Speaker 2: and you talk about paying for a tent, Like, I'll
- 6:06Speaker 2: pay for a tent any day now instead of walking
- 6:08Speaker 2: around in the crowds of just shoulder to shoulder people
- 6:12Speaker 2: are this is the no filter, so people are literally
- 6:16Speaker 2: peeing on the floor. I'd rather pay the money to
- 6:19Speaker 2: be on a nice, private little tent. On the other side,
- 6:21Speaker 2: like there's two sides of guests, but one side's the
- 6:23Speaker 2: public and it's just wilding out.
- 6:26Speaker 1: The other side's like private, you have to pay to
- 6:27Speaker 1: get in.
- 6:28Speaker 2: There's your own private little parties and those are the
- 6:30Speaker 2: best experiences. Like we've done that with the Treasure Cove.
- 6:34Speaker 2: They've had different ones for our friends work for Tito's.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So we did one for Tito's once and they have
- 6:39Speaker 2: free food, drinks, bathrooms, bleachers all day. I can hang
- 6:43Speaker 2: out there.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Yeah, It got to a point because we were even
- 6:45Speaker 3: in the tent, there was a massive line for the
- 6:47Speaker 3: bathroom and I was like, I'm gonna jump into Bay
- 6:49Speaker 3: Shor and pee.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 3: I feel like at this point, like this is the
- 6:52Speaker 3: best route to go.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Well that's what people do. Like my first year trying
- 6:55Speaker 2: to find my way to the parade. I'm sorry to
- 6:58Speaker 2: anybody that was living on Base Shore, but I snuck
- 7:00Speaker 2: behind your house and I went in your bushes. I
- 7:03Speaker 2: had Especially when you're in that frame of mind, you're
- 7:06Speaker 2: like I don't care where it is or what's happening.
- 7:08Speaker 2: When you have to go, you will go. And how
- 7:11Speaker 2: many people are out there? Thousands, Yeah, they're going, And
- 7:14Speaker 2: so that would be now we're not old and crusty,
- 7:18Speaker 2: We're just older and wiser. We're older and crusty, we're
- 7:21Speaker 2: gonna do things at another level.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And so I felt like this was a dip in
- 7:26Speaker 1: that world.
- 7:27Speaker 2: But a year from now, we'll give you that full
- 7:29Speaker 2: experience of like plant it out, have friends that have
- 7:33Speaker 2: their own private area, and then you get to have
- 7:35Speaker 2: the whole fun with the parade and hopefully one it's
- 7:38Speaker 2: not as cold, and if it is, we're dressed appropriately
- 7:40Speaker 2: for it.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I would say, I just need mother Nature to get
- 7:42Speaker 3: their crap together, Like.
- 7:43Speaker 1: If it was ten to go, if the sun was out,
- 7:46Speaker 1: that would be the game. Need to be warmer.
- 7:48Speaker 3: But okay, so everyone tells me that Gasparilla is like
- 7:52Speaker 3: the can I say, Gasparilla by the way, Yeah, Okay,
- 7:55Speaker 3: Gasprilla is like the the ultimate Tampa day out party experience.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It's like, that's the best day in Tampa for you.
- 8:04Speaker 3: As someone who's living in Tampa for eleven years, what
- 8:07Speaker 3: do you think is the best thing Tampa does all
- 8:09Speaker 3: year round?
- 8:10Speaker 1: Wow, that is a great question.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I would say the best thing that we do one
- 8:16Speaker 2: we nail a good boat parade. There's something about boat
- 8:20Speaker 2: parades in this area that's just you don't get that
- 8:22Speaker 2: anywhere else you could do parade. I'll be honest, I'm
- 8:25Speaker 2: not a big parade fan. I don't understand the whole
- 8:28Speaker 2: hype of catching beads unless like back in the day
- 8:31Speaker 2: where I was like just out of my mind all
- 8:33Speaker 2: the drinks in the world. It's the most exciting thing. Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 2: but now I don't like just sitting there all day
- 8:38Speaker 2: waving at floats. However, if we're gonna go ahead and
- 8:41Speaker 2: do it. Let's do it as a boat parade, and
- 8:43Speaker 2: that's a lot more fun because you're right there on Riverwalk,
- 8:45Speaker 2: which is gorgeous. You have beautiful Tampa right behind you.
- 8:48Speaker 2: They have a ton of beautiful food trucks, a lot
- 8:50Speaker 2: of good options. You could go go to a bar,
- 8:52Speaker 2: come back and it's still popping. I think we absolutely
- 8:56Speaker 2: nail that. I will say there's a lot of good
- 8:59Speaker 2: fairs that come around here, and I'm not the biggest
- 9:01Speaker 2: fair guy, but at least these fairs are different. Like
- 9:03Speaker 2: we do the Strawberry Festival, which is cool, so the
- 9:05Speaker 2: food is lit. The Florida State Fair, which is amazing
- 9:08Speaker 2: because again they have all these different food items that
- 9:11Speaker 2: I can't get on the rides anymore. This really makes
- 9:13Speaker 2: me feel old. I can't do the rides anymore like
- 9:16Speaker 2: I used to.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I'm like, Scottie, give me a party, and he's like,
- 9:18Speaker 3: have you had a funnel cake before?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'm telling you it's really good.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But also we do incredible shows like I would say concerts.
- 9:27Speaker 2: But even I'm now getting into like an EDM world
- 9:29Speaker 2: of my life where I'm like, give me a festival
- 9:32Speaker 2: and we throw festivals now, which I'm like Oh that's
- 9:35Speaker 2: super fun. That's a different element because you don't get
- 9:38Speaker 2: that in every city. But they'll pull up at like
- 9:40Speaker 2: ray j next thing, you know, you're getting a couple
- 9:42Speaker 2: of days of just wilding out with your friends and
- 9:44Speaker 2: a fun, safe manner. But we get all of those
- 9:47Speaker 2: little droppings of like cool events, whether it's concerts like
- 9:51Speaker 2: Ed Sheeran. But they also bring we they I'm not
- 9:55Speaker 2: a big wrestling fan, but they bring wrestling in.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Oh, he doesn't John Ceno live here?
- 9:58Speaker 1: John Cena lives down the street.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I think he lives at meat Market.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I think.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Actually, my friend was telling me how the last time
- 10:05Speaker 2: he was at meat Market, he literally looked across saw
- 10:07Speaker 2: John Cena. What was so crazy is that he's just
- 10:10Speaker 2: in the middle of the restaurant. Everyone's around him, but
- 10:12Speaker 2: nobody's bothering him. Because like when you're just there so often,
- 10:17Speaker 2: it's not a big surprise. Yeah, but that's when the
- 10:19Speaker 2: Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup. They would just
- 10:22Speaker 2: walk up into bars and like celebrate with the people.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Like I feel like that's a cool little touch of
- 10:27Speaker 2: what we have here.
- 10:28Speaker 3: See, that's why I want to be a Lightning fan.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Like you should be I know, but I want to
- 10:32Speaker 3: be like not just someone who goes go Lightning, Like
- 10:34Speaker 3: I want to be there. I want to be on
- 10:36Speaker 3: the floor. I want to be looking at the boy aquarium. Yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 3: I'm doing their little weird warm ups where they're like
- 10:43Speaker 3: straddling the ground.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I will say it is one of the best things
- 10:45Speaker 2: that we do. I wasn't a huge hockey fan before going,
- 10:48Speaker 2: and then going gives you so much more appreciation and
- 10:51Speaker 2: then you dive into that world of like you know
- 10:53Speaker 2: the players, the players again, Like we have one of
- 10:56Speaker 2: the biggest names in lightning hockey.
- 10:58Speaker 1: His name is Pat Maroon.
- 11:00Speaker 2: He is now like a partner with the Lightning does
- 11:02Speaker 2: a lot of their community stuff. He's in these studios,
- 11:05Speaker 2: like every week he does a show with my coworker,
- 11:08Speaker 2: like our coworker right down the hole. Every week he's
- 11:12Speaker 2: up in here. Because it's just that kind of relationship.
- 11:14Speaker 2: So once you get invested into it, going out on
- 11:17Speaker 2: like a Tuesday night to a Lightning game one of
- 11:20Speaker 2: the best Tampa Bay things you could do, hands down.
- 11:23Speaker 3: That's my guess, Gorilla. It should be air conditioned bathrooms.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Men men doing a lot of manly stuff on the ice,
- 11:31Speaker 2: this is thirty. I feel like that's a heated rival
- 11:35Speaker 2: where you kind of a mood for it, just a
- 11:37Speaker 2: different realm of it.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But that would be one of the best things.
- 11:39Speaker 2: If I were to come into Tampa Bay for the
- 11:41Speaker 2: first time, I would say the things you need to
- 11:44Speaker 2: check out. Some are going to sound very family oriented,
- 11:46Speaker 2: some are going to sound wild and out oriented. But
- 11:48Speaker 2: I'll say, yes, Tampa Bay Lightning Game immediately.
- 11:51Speaker 1: That's going to be on the world.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I would say, of course, a day at Busch Gardens
- 11:55Speaker 2: to just get into that world.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Do you like roller coasters? Do you really like roller coasters?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Have you been to Busch Gardens? Yeah, when's the last
- 12:00Speaker 1: time you went college?
- 12:02Speaker 3: So maybe like seven years.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, the whole place.
- 12:05Speaker 2: You They have so many little events now that they
- 12:08Speaker 2: do there that make the experience better.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You like wine? Do I like wine?
- 12:12Speaker 2: Well, then you have to go to like their whole
- 12:14Speaker 2: like wine festival that they do at Bush Guardens, Like
- 12:17Speaker 2: that's what I have loved, like I do the roller coasters,
- 12:19Speaker 2: but then they have so many good wines and so
- 12:21Speaker 2: many good foods, and like those little parts make it
- 12:24Speaker 2: so much more special. So I'd say go to a
- 12:26Speaker 2: wine festival at Busch Gardens. I would honestly say, go
- 12:29Speaker 2: to a day at the Florida Aquarium. Like I love
- 12:32Speaker 2: the Florida Aquarium. It sounds so like what it's an aquarium,
- 12:36Speaker 2: but it's not. It's done upright. You're in the ac
- 12:39Speaker 2: especially when it gets hot in like May, and you're like,
- 12:42Speaker 2: all right, I am.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Kind of ticked off at this Tampa Bay heat.
- 12:47Speaker 2: You go do your activities inside and then you get
- 12:49Speaker 2: to see all the fishes. They got some good the
- 12:51Speaker 2: house pet and jellyfish. The last time I went in,
- 12:53Speaker 2: have you ever pet a jellyfish?
- 12:54Speaker 3: Why would you pet a drog?
- 12:56Speaker 2: Because it's an activity at the aquarium.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Don't they sting you though? No, not these ones. They
- 13:01Speaker 1: have ones that don't sting you.
- 13:02Speaker 3: They like remove the stingers.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I'm not working for the aquariums. I don't know how
- 13:06Speaker 2: it works, but no, they have their stingers, they just
- 13:08Speaker 2: don't have this powerful as a sting as other jellyfish.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Shotty, it's giving animal abuse.
- 13:13Speaker 1: No, it's giving fun at the Florida Aquarium.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Yeah, come through a hittie and then you go keep
- 13:18Speaker 3: you aquarium and you can go petty jellyfish.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I'm telling you once you pop that little thing on
- 13:22Speaker 2: the top and it's like, oh, that feels so weird.
- 13:24Speaker 1: You do that, you go pet a sting.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Right, you check it out for the day, and then
- 13:28Speaker 2: I like to say, okay, once you do all the
- 13:31Speaker 2: fun Tampa things. Of course, you get a buck like
- 13:33Speaker 2: a Bucks game in, you go to a tailgate.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Fuck yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Then you go to the West coast and you start
- 13:38Speaker 2: traveling up. So you do a night out in Saint Pete.
- 13:41Speaker 2: This is where it gets truly like that young energy.
- 13:44Speaker 2: But you don't have to be twenty one. You could
- 13:46Speaker 2: be thirty, thirty five, forty over on Central and Saint
- 13:50Speaker 2: Pete and you just hit the different restaurants and the bars,
- 13:53Speaker 2: and everything has a different flavor. Like if you want
- 13:55Speaker 2: to get espresso martine, you go to a Mandarin Hide.
- 13:57Speaker 2: If you want a good wine, you go to Savvi
- 13:58Speaker 2: on Winelocker. And you want to go tequila, you go
- 14:01Speaker 2: to Tequila Daisy. You bop around for the different vibe
- 14:05Speaker 2: that you're going for, and it becomes one of the
- 14:07Speaker 2: best nights. I've loved Saint Pete because of that. It's
- 14:10Speaker 2: not I liked soho when I was younger. I can't
- 14:13Speaker 2: wound out like I used to there. No, but I
- 14:16Speaker 2: can go have a nice wine and look over Central
- 14:18Speaker 2: at like a first Friday and appreciate it. I can
- 14:22Speaker 2: go to the nice Sunday market by the rowdy stadium.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Do you like markets?
- 14:26Speaker 3: What's uh define a market? Oh?
- 14:28Speaker 2: This is gonna be such a fun world for you.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Something we do all the time is like these little
- 14:31Speaker 2: farmers markets. It's all over, but they do a massive
- 14:35Speaker 2: one over in downtown Saint Pete like every Sunday, where
- 14:39Speaker 2: it's just like one hundred different vendors, all these different
- 14:42Speaker 2: local places come out. It's right there by the water.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So when it's warm out, it's glorious. You're looking at
- 14:48Speaker 2: the water, you're looking at the pier. But then you're
- 14:50Speaker 2: also buying a meat from a local farmer.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Love a meat, See love a meat. Love a market.
- 14:55Speaker 1: There's everything for it.
- 14:56Speaker 2: But then you travel up and so you could go
- 14:58Speaker 2: down to like Sarasota, get a little cst key vibe
- 15:02Speaker 2: love that.
- 15:03Speaker 3: My family loves Sarasota.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It is a beautiful spot. My cousin got married. See.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I want to go to the Ringling Museum that's right
- 15:09Speaker 1: down there.
- 15:10Speaker 3: I know it looks gorgeous.
- 15:12Speaker 1: We need to make a Tampa Bay to do list
- 15:13Speaker 1: for you.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I really do where you just get the check out
- 15:15Speaker 2: because what you're also going to see is all the
- 15:17Speaker 2: different areas, but also all the different events that they
- 15:20Speaker 2: have there. Because if you just go to Tampa, you're like, oh,
- 15:23Speaker 2: Tampa's cool city vibes. You go to Saint Pete, You're like, oh,
- 15:26Speaker 2: Saint Pete's cool but chill city vibes. And then you
- 15:30Speaker 2: start to find these little hubs, like then you go
- 15:32Speaker 2: up in the Saint Pete and you find yourself in
- 15:34Speaker 2: a little place called Safety Harbor.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And Safety Harbor.
- 15:37Speaker 2: If you don't know, is this small but so connected
- 15:41Speaker 2: little town with amazing wine bars, amazing restaurants, an amazing resort.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I know obviously you like a day where you just
- 15:50Speaker 1: like you get pampered their.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Safety Harbor, spa lord treat yourself moment right there again
- 15:57Speaker 2: on the water and then you travel up and we
- 15:59Speaker 2: were talking about the off the air, but do you
- 16:01Speaker 2: like just seeing a random dog out?
- 16:02Speaker 1: And like with somebody who does?
- 16:04Speaker 3: Who gets mad about seeing a random dog out?
- 16:06Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm glad this is why we're working together because if
- 16:09Speaker 2: you got mad at seeing a dog out and about
- 16:10Speaker 2: I'd be like, well, there's a disconnect. They go to
- 16:12Speaker 2: Dunedin and some people call it dog Eaton, where it's
- 16:15Speaker 2: like everyone just has a dog.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And so you go out to these restaurants. It's fun again.
- 16:18Speaker 2: It's you know, a little hidden gem where if you know,
- 16:21Speaker 2: you know, but everyone's walking around with the dog.
- 16:24Speaker 1: It's a friendly vibe. Then you go up to Palm.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Harbor and they have such cool bars and like breweries
- 16:29Speaker 2: that you can.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Be a part of.
- 16:31Speaker 2: All of these little tiny areas have their own little
- 16:34Speaker 2: special treat And then again you go up and the
- 16:36Speaker 2: people that live in like Lando Lakes and Wesley Chapel,
- 16:38Speaker 2: they got their own little culture.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Lando Lakes.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Like the Butterlando Lakes.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I don't think that's the same one.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I think that one's up in Wisconsin, but we have
- 16:45Speaker 2: our own Lando Lakes.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I was like, where's I want to go on like
- 16:48Speaker 3: a butter tour. Now.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I don't think we're making butter at this one because
- 16:50Speaker 2: it's Florida, and I don't know how many people are
- 16:51Speaker 2: making butter in Florida. You would be surprised or not,
- 16:54Speaker 2: the Land of Cheese Wisconsin's the land.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Of cheese, right.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but I feel you're telling me they're not making
- 16:58Speaker 3: butter and.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Lando Lakes telling you they're probably not making better but
- 17:01Speaker 2: they are. I think they have their new like lagoon.
- 17:05Speaker 2: They have this big old ballue lagoon. It's awesome. You
- 17:09Speaker 2: could swim in the lagoon.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It it's man made.
- 17:12Speaker 3: So are there fishing it?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Or is like a pool? It's like a pool?
- 17:14Speaker 3: Oh I love that.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but they have like these obstacle courses out on
- 17:17Speaker 1: the water.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Yeah, don't put me down for fishes. No, I'll get
- 17:20Speaker 3: in the water if it's like a pool.
- 17:22Speaker 2: But you won't be okay if like a fish comes
- 17:24Speaker 2: by and like smack your knee.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Well especially if not if it's a pool, we got problems.
- 17:29Speaker 5: If it's a pool, you can go check that out.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Or the Crates over in Wesley Chapel. The Crates, this
- 17:36Speaker 5: is a cool thing. You ever see like a shipping container? Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 5: well they built an entire area of just shipping containers
- 17:41Speaker 5: that have different shops and restaurants and it's a whole
- 17:44Speaker 5: little area in the middle.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It's really pretty. It's cool. But again, all these different
- 17:47Speaker 1: areas something new to check out.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I do have to go to Wesley Chapel because the
- 17:50Speaker 3: thing about me is I'm very particular about my eyebrows
- 17:53Speaker 3: and I've been trying to find someone who can do
- 17:55Speaker 3: good eyebrows. And I found this girl on Instagram. She's
- 17:57Speaker 3: in Wesley Chapel and so I was like, road.
- 18:00Speaker 1: See, it gives you a reason to check out a
- 18:01Speaker 1: new area. I like that.
- 18:04Speaker 2: How okay, so you went to UF correct. Yes, So
- 18:08Speaker 2: do you like seeing actual gators?
- 18:11Speaker 3: No? Who wants to see a gator in the wild?
- 18:14Speaker 1: This is an adventure? Well we're gonna oh a wild
- 18:17Speaker 1: gator now it's just abby. Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 3: No.
- 18:19Speaker 2: There's this place over in like, what is it, Lakeland.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I went on a date here a long time ago.
- 18:24Speaker 2: It was an adventure State. I like a good adventure
- 18:26Speaker 2: of state.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Gotti, they're romantics. Want to see a gator? We're seeing
- 18:32Speaker 1: a crocodile in the wild.
- 18:35Speaker 2: There's this park that you go to and you walk
- 18:37Speaker 2: around this like nature reserve, and I kid you not.
- 18:40Speaker 2: As you're walking, there'll be like a ten foot gator
- 18:43Speaker 2: just you know, five feet from you, and you just
- 18:45Speaker 2: walk by it. You wave to the gator and you
- 18:47Speaker 2: keep going. But it's so cool because that's such a
- 18:50Speaker 2: different area than seeing a dolphin on riverwalk.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Scotty our definitions of cool, they're different. For me, seeing
- 18:57Speaker 3: John Stena in the wild cool. You will see John's
- 19:00Speaker 3: alligator of the wild, fearing for my life.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Well, just to get the experience.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Just to get the experience, because a lot of people
- 19:06Speaker 2: don't see Tampa Bay as all these other cities that
- 19:08Speaker 2: encompass it.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But just as much as Tampa's part of it, Lakeland's
- 19:12Speaker 1: part of it.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Too, Western Chapel's part of it too, Newport Richie, Tarpet Springs,
- 19:16Speaker 2: they're part of it too, and they have their.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Own little gem beside John Cena.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Listen, if my new eyebrow Lady does a good job,
- 19:23Speaker 3: Wesley Chapel would be seen a lot of me and
- 19:24Speaker 3: I will be seeing a lot of it.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of people love Western Chapel.
- 19:27Speaker 2: A lot of people move from Tampa to go to
- 19:28Speaker 2: Western Chapel mainly for more land and a newer house
- 19:32Speaker 2: and a cheaper house.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I heard a lot of Bucks players live out there.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, because they could get more for less. But now
- 19:39Speaker 2: everyone's going there. Now it's a little more crowded. So
- 19:41Speaker 2: now you got to just find your other area. So
- 19:43Speaker 2: some people are going to like Parish, Florida.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Okay, I haven't Perish.
- 19:47Speaker 1: It's a little south. You gotta go.
- 19:49Speaker 2: We'll take an adventure. Okay out there. What's out in
- 19:52Speaker 2: Parish right now? A lot of houses. Okay, I think
- 19:55Speaker 2: they just built the publics.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Unfortunately, I'm not in the market for real estate.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Eventually I'll be in the market for a meat though.
- 20:01Speaker 2: They down in Saint Pete interesting, tell us more happy
- 20:05Speaker 2: so as. Okay, so you got to see Gasparilla, which
- 20:08Speaker 2: is a cool thing. There's gonna be obviously, people go
- 20:10Speaker 2: very hard here for Saint Patty's Day.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Do you celebrate? Are you Irish?
- 20:13Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:13Speaker 1: I am Irish.
- 20:14Speaker 3: That explains not like I grew up and my family
- 20:17Speaker 3: was like worshiping potatoes. More of like my great grandfather
- 20:20Speaker 3: immigrated here from County Cork. Really I recently found this out.
- 20:24Speaker 3: So I went to Ireland about a year ago. And
- 20:27Speaker 3: my last name's Murphy. So I do what anybody with
- 20:29Speaker 3: the last name Murphy does. You go to the Ancestry
- 20:31Speaker 3: Center in Dublin and you go, hey, where are my
- 20:35Speaker 3: ancestors from, And they basically just take you to ancestry
- 20:38Speaker 3: dot Com, so it's kind of kind of a waste
- 20:40Speaker 3: of money. We actually found way more on my British
- 20:42Speaker 3: grandmother's side, which is a whole other side story. But
- 20:45Speaker 3: my dad's dad's dad he immigrated from County Cork and
- 20:51Speaker 3: somewhat recently, so I claimed the Irish heritage.
- 20:54Speaker 1: As you should. I think that's close enough.
- 20:56Speaker 3: And every time I'm in the UK or I'm in Ireland,
- 20:58Speaker 3: my hair looks am and I'm like my my my
- 21:02Speaker 3: genes are reacting well to where my ancestors are from.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I'm home.
- 21:07Speaker 2: That's so fascinating. I think that counts. I have no
- 21:09Speaker 2: idea where my family's from. I think it's like I've
- 21:12Speaker 2: always been told a little bit of Ireland, but also
- 21:14Speaker 2: like a little bit of like check less of you.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Give Slovakian vibes, do I?
- 21:20Speaker 3: Because you have the blonde hair, Like what adult man
- 21:22Speaker 3: is blonde unless you're from like Sweden.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I thought it was.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I guess, so I have blonde hair and blue eyes.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I think that's the check side, yes, and I maybe
- 21:33Speaker 2: the what is the Irish side then?
- 21:36Speaker 3: Maybe, like I don't know, you kind of have like
- 21:39Speaker 3: the Irish jawline like everybody from You have like the
- 21:42Speaker 3: Killian Murphy jaw line. You have the Paul Mes coal
- 21:45Speaker 3: jaw line. You have like the Paul mesical mustache.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Hmmm, I'm gonna take that as a good compliment. You
- 21:51Speaker 1: need to do it like a deep dive on my heritage.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Yes, so wait are you? I can't remember because I
- 21:56Speaker 3: look at your Instagram handle. Are you Tablin or Avelin'?
- 22:00Speaker 3: I didn't know if you were Scott t Avlin or
- 22:02Speaker 3: Scott Taflin.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I'm Scott Tavlin.
- 22:05Speaker 3: So we can do a Google search. Where is Tablin from?
- 22:08Speaker 1: Well, Tavlin comes from the Jewish side of my family.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Are you part Jewish? I am? I was raised Jewish.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I had a whole bar mitzva on everything.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I didn't know this fun facts. See this is what
- 22:17Speaker 2: the podcast is for. Yes, I had a whole bar mitzvah.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I think my last name Tavlin. If I was to
- 22:23Speaker 2: go back in the roots, at least this is what
- 22:24Speaker 2: I was told. And we could look this up. But
- 22:26Speaker 2: Tablin used to be Tablin, which means spice in Hebrew.
- 22:32Speaker 3: So you're a spicy Hebrew.
- 22:34Speaker 1: You dang right?
- 22:35Speaker 2: I am you dang right, that's what I'm gonna put
- 22:37Speaker 2: on my dating profile.
- 22:38Speaker 3: That's fascinating.
- 22:39Speaker 1: But you don't.
- 22:42Speaker 3: What's the right way to phrase this? You don't you're
- 22:44Speaker 3: not a practicing Jewish person.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Correct, Yeah, I don't really practice anymore once I got
- 22:49Speaker 2: bar mitzvud. I think what happens is because you do
- 22:52Speaker 2: so much in the religion so early on. As soon
- 22:54Speaker 2: as you get an opportunity to not have to do
- 22:57Speaker 2: it every week, you're like, I'm gonna.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Take my off. I'm gonna take my Sundays off.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, let's see how long
- 23:03Speaker 2: ago that was, like you know, fifteen sixteen years ago
- 23:07Speaker 2: by and you're like, ah, I'm good. I don't need
- 23:11Speaker 2: to go back. It is nice to go back, but
- 23:12Speaker 2: I don't.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Okay, So you don't feel any connection to your Jewish.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Heritage, no, except for I like the family moments. I
- 23:19Speaker 2: always like those moments of like getting together for the holidays.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I like the power of you know, we used to
- 23:25Speaker 2: do like prayers over like the food and the wine,
- 23:29Speaker 2: and then just those little things of appreciation I really loved.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I love a good message at a service, one that
- 23:36Speaker 2: connects to life, one that you could take for the
- 23:38Speaker 2: rest of the week.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I love those parts, okay, but I feel like I
- 23:41Speaker 1: don't need to be there every week in order to
- 23:42Speaker 1: have that, if that makes sense.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Does anybody in your family practice Judaism?
- 23:47Speaker 2: So there's a whole side of my field we're diving
- 23:49Speaker 2: in this day two.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I like, well, because you're surprising me because you like
- 23:53Speaker 3: and maybe this is the wrong thing to say, but
- 23:55Speaker 3: you don't. You don't look like someone who is ethnically Jewish.
- 23:59Speaker 1: That's a valid point. Yes, it caught me off guard. Well,
- 24:03Speaker 1: I think it's because I.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Was originally, like, if I go to the lineage, I was,
- 24:08Speaker 2: my family was like a New York jew and then
- 24:11Speaker 2: it slowly moved down to Miami and then now I
- 24:14Speaker 2: hear I am.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And then you got like them a little bit of Barrow, Like.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yes see that I'm bringing that whole side of it.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say I have a whole half of
- 24:23Speaker 2: the family that's very Jewish, but I don't really know them.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Growing up, we never really saw them.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And I think it was because my parents raised us
- 24:32Speaker 2: very what we call like reformed, where it's like it's
- 24:35Speaker 2: very relaxed. Yeah, we'd go to service I got more mitzvud,
- 24:38Speaker 2: but I wasn't like every week going hard in the Torah.
- 24:43Speaker 2: So they're like Orthodox Geo, yes, but I was never
- 24:45Speaker 2: close to them. There's little there's pockets of that family
- 24:49Speaker 2: that I know, like my dad's family, Like I really
- 24:51Speaker 2: only knew my grandpa, my grandma, my aunt, and like
- 24:55Speaker 2: maybe a couple my dad's cousins.
- 24:56Speaker 1: That was it. But apparently that side of the family's huge.
- 24:59Speaker 3: So I grew up Christian, and so I guess the
- 25:00Speaker 3: way that I would relate your family to the Christian side,
- 25:02Speaker 3: if there's any Christians listening, is you guys are like
- 25:04Speaker 3: a megachurch Jewish family, you know, like you go to
- 25:10Speaker 3: like an old Walmart to worship.
- 25:13Speaker 1: No, no, I wish you was like that.
- 25:17Speaker 2: No, there's like, well, I grew up in viro Beach, Florida,
- 25:19Speaker 2: which is a small little town, and there was only
- 25:22Speaker 2: one synagogue, one little tiny temple, and it was just
- 25:26Speaker 2: it's very chill. You go on like a Friday night,
- 25:29Speaker 2: the rabbi was awesome. You had your small little Sunday
- 25:32Speaker 2: crew that you like went through every week with. It
- 25:34Speaker 2: was very relaxed. It wasn't much if you go bigger
- 25:37Speaker 2: in the religion. It's kind of like with any religion.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, you could be there Friday night, Saturday night,
- 25:42Speaker 2: Sunday night, Wednesday night, like all of a sudden, you're
- 25:44Speaker 2: there speaking Hebrew to everybody. You're way into the religion
- 25:48Speaker 2: on things that I don't get.
- 25:49Speaker 1: You're all in. I never did that.
- 25:53Speaker 2: My family that does that, like they're Orthodox, they go
- 25:56Speaker 2: hard in the paint.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I just.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I respect them for what they do, but I also
- 26:02Speaker 2: don't know them, right, so I don't know how that
- 26:03Speaker 2: lifestyle is. The furthest I've gone is I think I
- 26:06Speaker 2: went to a Kosher restaurant.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Once, a Kosher restaurant one time. Yeah, one time.
- 26:10Speaker 3: If you went through the whole bar mitzvah process, that's
- 26:13Speaker 3: that's not a small feet Like you have to read
- 26:15Speaker 3: the Torah, you have to go to those weekly meetings,
- 26:18Speaker 3: and then you have to like present in front of your synagogue.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And then you get one of those parties where you
- 26:22Speaker 3: get like airbrush hats.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the parties are lit parties are if you
- 26:26Speaker 2: had ever had the opportunity to go like a bar
- 26:29Speaker 2: bought mitsva party.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I went to a bot mitzvah and I remember like
- 26:33Speaker 3: I took it so seriously because I was very religious
- 26:35Speaker 3: growing up. So I like went on Wikipedia and I
- 26:37Speaker 3: was like, Okay, how does one behave at a at
- 26:41Speaker 3: a Jewish service or whatever it's called. And I was like,
- 26:43Speaker 3: I remember at one point I read something where it
- 26:45Speaker 3: was like and then at one point they're going to
- 26:46Speaker 3: pass around the torah and then you have to like
- 26:49Speaker 3: touch the torah, and I remember being like so prepared.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm gonna touch the to nice and light
- 26:55Speaker 1: break it.
- 26:55Speaker 3: They never passed through to us, and I was like, Okay, well,
- 26:57Speaker 3: all that Wikipedia reading.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Was a waste. Yeah, but the party was still fun.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Was lit. I remember like an air Rush T shirt
- 27:02Speaker 1: and everything. It's a huge deal.
- 27:04Speaker 2: And also I have most families, I mean most times
- 27:07Speaker 2: the kid gets a ton of money for it.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Really, yes, what do you do with that money?
- 27:12Speaker 2: Well, I think I put mine in savings majority. But
- 27:14Speaker 2: you also, like my family allowed us to treat ourselves
- 27:16Speaker 2: like I think my brother when he got bar Mitzvah,
- 27:19Speaker 2: his treat was an Xbox three sixty at the time
- 27:22Speaker 2: that it. Mine was like a PS three and a guitar. Fine,
- 27:26Speaker 2: so those are like my little treats and the rest
- 27:28Speaker 2: went into savings.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Can you put a number to it? Is it like
- 27:32Speaker 3: five figures? No?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, I wish well. No, no, I'd say four.
- 27:37Speaker 2: It depends on the family. Some families you get loaded.
- 27:39Speaker 2: But for me at the time, those probably like, gosh,
- 27:42Speaker 2: maybe this is as a kid memory, so I have
- 27:45Speaker 2: no idea, but I want to say, like five to
- 27:47Speaker 2: ten thousand.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Holy shit, I want to be Jewish.
- 27:51Speaker 1: That's when a lot of my friends said, too, Yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 3: We're just they make you give money when you're a Christian, Well,
- 27:56Speaker 3: like you suck, give us hundred dollars, put it in that, Yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 3: pray the sin away.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Here's one hundred, give us a hundred buck. Again, that
- 28:05Speaker 1: is ballpark. I don't know.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I would have to ask my parents, but I feel
- 28:08Speaker 2: like that was a number that's insane.
- 28:10Speaker 3: And again I'm not insane in a bad way, but
- 28:11Speaker 3: like that, I can't even I remember one hundred dollars
- 28:14Speaker 3: at thirteen was like a ton of money. Oh yeah,
- 28:17Speaker 3: I mean it's not not a ton of money, but
- 28:19Speaker 3: like you know, as an adult, what's it really getting me?
- 28:21Speaker 3: But like five thousand dollars at thirteen years old would
- 28:24Speaker 3: have sent me into cardiac or ass.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Well, that's why you know, my parents are like, we're
- 28:28Speaker 2: gonna take that. Here, go get yourself an acoustic guitar
- 28:31Speaker 2: and a PS three. You could spend a little bit
- 28:32Speaker 2: of it, you earned that, but for the rest of it,
- 28:35Speaker 2: I was like, all right.
- 28:36Speaker 1: The rest of like stocks and bonds, stocks.
- 28:38Speaker 2: And bond absolutely throw it right into an account and
- 28:40Speaker 2: you're not gonna be able to touch it for another
- 28:42Speaker 2: nine years.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So I'm like, okay.
- 28:43Speaker 2: But honestly, like I grew up very just like middle
- 28:46Speaker 2: class people that I was in those classes with.
- 28:51Speaker 1: There are some that were loaded.
- 28:53Speaker 2: You're kidding, low did I'm sure they made four times
- 28:57Speaker 2: what I've made, So like fifty K for a bar mitzva,
- 29:01Speaker 2: like to get it as a kid. Yeah, maybe, especially again,
- 29:04Speaker 2: I was like on the lower end of the Jewish side,
- 29:06Speaker 2: especially for income's sake.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I remember we used to do these parties.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Some of them would have their parties on like there's
- 29:13Speaker 2: fancy places on like the beach, because again, like Vero Is,
- 29:16Speaker 2: there's literally a bridge that goes if you live on
- 29:18Speaker 2: the island, Oh my god, you living it up. I
- 29:23Speaker 2: did not live on the island. I lived as far
- 29:25Speaker 2: away from the island as possible. I lived by the cowfields,
- 29:27Speaker 2: the new developments that got put up. You're in like
- 29:29Speaker 2: the rural area exactly. And so to see their parties,
- 29:33Speaker 2: holy smokes, it was on like country clubs, the fanciest
- 29:37Speaker 2: land in Vero. Good for them, and I got to
- 29:40Speaker 2: see some of their houses. Only got to go in once,
- 29:45Speaker 2: but their days. I'll never forget.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Hey, maybe in thirty years when those stocks and bonds hit.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Maybe really hoping, really counting on the stock market.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Vero Beach hates to see you coming.
- 29:54Speaker 1: That's right, better watch out. I'll be living on the
- 29:56Speaker 1: water next maybe.
- 29:58Speaker 2: But okay, so obviously we're started that with the whole
- 30:01Speaker 2: Saint Patty's Day conversation. Yes, a lot of festivities happening
- 30:04Speaker 2: over here, but I also want to dive deeper into
- 30:07Speaker 2: you of like we talked a little bit about like
- 30:10Speaker 2: things that you're interested in outside of the studio when
- 30:12Speaker 2: it comes to like movies or shows, and I wanted
- 30:15Speaker 2: to get like, I wanted to bring this to the
- 30:17Speaker 2: show and do like a show show, like a show
- 30:21Speaker 2: that we all watch together, show that we all talk
- 30:23Speaker 2: about together. But I feel like we might not be
- 30:26Speaker 2: on the same page what shows we watch?
- 30:27Speaker 3: I don't think so. And I'm also not a big
- 30:30Speaker 3: show or movie person, like it takes a lot for
- 30:33Speaker 3: me to commit to a TV they you do with
- 30:35Speaker 3: your time?
- 30:36Speaker 1: Like what do you look at?
- 30:37Speaker 3: How is the Tony Robbins want to be being like,
- 30:39Speaker 3: you don't watch TV?
- 30:41Speaker 2: I know, I okay, how do you do?
- 30:43Speaker 3: Be?
- 30:43Speaker 1: Product? Read books? I do love a good book. You
- 30:46Speaker 1: get me on a good book.
- 30:47Speaker 2: But I do know that there are certain shows that
- 30:50Speaker 2: come along that feel like cultural moments, like right now,
- 30:53Speaker 2: in this exact moment, a huge show that everyone's talking
- 30:55Speaker 2: about is Heated Rivalry.
- 30:57Speaker 3: But that's the thing is I only watch that show
- 30:59Speaker 3: because it became such a cultural moment. Like all the
- 31:02Speaker 3: girlies are like, what do you mean you haven't seen
- 31:04Speaker 3: Heated Rivalry? I was like, I just don't think it
- 31:06Speaker 3: interests me, like hockey and guys like I just don't
- 31:10Speaker 3: know if that's like my vibe.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And then I turned it on and I watched it
- 31:12Speaker 1: eight times in a row. Ah see, it was so good.
- 31:15Speaker 1: It was your moment.
- 31:16Speaker 2: But I didn't watch that, but the rest of the
- 31:18Speaker 2: world did. I watched the little like Welcome to dairy
- 31:21Speaker 2: show about it, Pennywise The Clown, Yeah, which a whole
- 31:23Speaker 2: other sector of people were watching that we were all
- 31:26Speaker 2: invested in, and I want to be a part of
- 31:27Speaker 2: that world. But if you were to go down, if
- 31:29Speaker 2: I was to give you like three of the shows
- 31:32Speaker 2: that you absolutely loved, that would define Abby.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Oh what would those three shows be?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Probably Bridgerton. I'm a big Bridgerton fan. I have a
- 31:40Speaker 3: lot of criticism about some of the seasons, but as
- 31:42Speaker 3: a whole, I will always watch Bridgerton. Bridgerton is really good.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Maybe like.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Nobody wants this? Like I love like a an easy
- 31:53Speaker 3: to watch rom com.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Oh see, I do too. I don't think I saw
- 31:56Speaker 1: that one.
- 31:56Speaker 3: The one with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I don't think nobody wants is that a show?
- 32:00Speaker 3: A huge show of another? Again, the only reason I
- 32:03Speaker 3: watched it because it was such a big cultural moment.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Takes a lot for me to watch eight hours.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Of team Maybe I'm just reading too many books.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Well what are you watching? I think might be the
- 32:10Speaker 3: better question.
- 32:11Speaker 1: That's about it.
- 32:12Speaker 2: I only watch it when it's like something truly, truly
- 32:16Speaker 2: worth my time. Because the thing that gets me the most,
- 32:18Speaker 2: like a pet peeve is wasted time. Yeah, it drives
- 32:21Speaker 2: me insane, Like when I'm just doing something and I'm like,
- 32:24Speaker 2: I just wasted two hours, Like it needs to be
- 32:26Speaker 2: that good of a show or that good of a movie,
- 32:28Speaker 2: but like that good of shows I think of, Like
- 32:29Speaker 2: did you watch ted Lasso?
- 32:31Speaker 3: No, but I really want to.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Abby, Now that's the show because here's
- 32:35Speaker 2: why it's good. Not only is it well done, but
- 32:38Speaker 2: it's also such a powerful message that you could apply
- 32:41Speaker 2: to life.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I see myself in ted Lasso.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Uh huh.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I see him slapping the sign that says believe, and
- 32:48Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm gonna put that up in the studio.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Those are the shows that I like, and I'm like
- 32:52Speaker 2: life lessons that means something to me, or a show
- 32:55Speaker 2: like did you watch The Morning Show on Apple TV?
- 32:58Speaker 1: I seen that again.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Oh, this is gonna be so fun. You're gonna give
- 33:01Speaker 2: me recommendations. I'm gonna give you recommendations. That show is
- 33:04Speaker 2: cool because it's like it shows you the behind the
- 33:06Speaker 2: scenes of like the media world, like we do radio
- 33:09Speaker 2: and that show it's massive TeV new Like it's kind
- 33:11Speaker 2: of like watching the Today Show, but like the behind
- 33:14Speaker 2: the scenes, like what does it really look like to
- 33:16Speaker 2: be at that level of a career and then all
- 33:18Speaker 2: the scandal uh huh oh. I mean once you start watching,
- 33:22Speaker 2: you kind of figure out what it's about. So well done.
- 33:25Speaker 2: But I love seeing like, oh, is that what it's
- 33:28Speaker 2: like at that level of the game.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Oh, I'm seeing the vision here, so like ted Lasso
- 33:33Speaker 3: top of his game and doing soccer, and then the
- 33:36Speaker 3: Morning Show top of their game doing broadcast TV.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 33:40Speaker 2: And then the one we went off is you know,
- 33:42Speaker 2: Welcome to Darren about Pennywise the Clown, which I just
- 33:44Speaker 2: found that movie growing up as like the best scary movie,
- 33:47Speaker 2: the one that terrified me, but the best done. And
- 33:49Speaker 2: I was like, I want to be more into that world.
- 33:52Speaker 3: I feel like our bit is gonna be less about
- 33:54Speaker 3: we all watch one show and more of like who
- 33:57Speaker 3: can get the most amount of people to watch the
- 33:59Speaker 3: show that they're passionate about. That's so true, because you're
- 34:02Speaker 3: gonna be like, welcome to Dary, who wants to watch
- 34:04Speaker 3: a show about killer clowns? And I'm gonna be like
- 34:07Speaker 3: love Bridgerton outfit, Royal sick, Yeah, Royalty.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I do love a good rom com. But I don't.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I think I like a show that everyone watched that
- 34:18Speaker 2: I didn't watch was like Stranger Things. Yeah, because what
- 34:20Speaker 2: ends up happening is once it becomes like what is
- 34:22Speaker 2: Bridget in season four?
- 34:23Speaker 1: Now I feel behind.
- 34:25Speaker 2: So I'm gonna spend all this time to catch up,
- 34:27Speaker 2: and by the time I catch up, everyone's done with
- 34:29Speaker 2: it and we've moved on. That's how I felt about
- 34:31Speaker 2: Stranger Things.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I like, everyone's like.
- 34:32Speaker 2: You gotta watch them, Like why now nobody's gonna talk
- 34:35Speaker 2: about it.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Yeah. Then you feel like, Okay, I'm just like in
- 34:37Speaker 3: this silo of just watching this movie and just or
- 34:40Speaker 3: TV show and just talking about about it to myself
- 34:42Speaker 3: all day long.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm like trying to play catch up instead
- 34:44Speaker 2: of trying to immerse myself into a show, which I
- 34:48Speaker 2: did try in the beginning, especially with Stranger Things, to
- 34:50Speaker 2: be into that world. I don't know, it didn't feel
- 34:53Speaker 2: like it took off. It was like episode one or
- 34:54Speaker 2: two and I was like, Okay, that was cool. But
- 34:58Speaker 2: now everyone talked about it season five. They're like, oh,
- 35:00Speaker 2: it's the best show ever, and then you're kind of shamed.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Another one was what was that like Dragon Show?
- 35:07Speaker 1: HBO?
- 35:07Speaker 2: Game of Thrones, Dragon, Well, okay, Game of Thrones and
- 35:10Speaker 2: then House to Dragon.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Did you watch that?
- 35:12Speaker 3: So I tried watching Game of Thrones. Long story short,
- 35:14Speaker 3: I got a guy really drunk on a date once
- 35:16Speaker 3: and everyone was talking about Game of Thrones and I
- 35:18Speaker 3: was like, I want to watch it, but I don't
- 35:20Speaker 3: have HBO, and so Walker was kind of enough. Yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 3: poor Walker, he is his Hulu password or whatever, and
- 35:28Speaker 3: so that's why I watched the first three seasons of
- 35:30Speaker 3: Game of Thrones. And then after that, I think he
- 35:32Speaker 3: changed his password.
- 35:33Speaker 1: You stopped watching? Well he changed? Were you actually invested in?
- 35:37Speaker 1: Did you actually like it?
- 35:38Speaker 3: I thought it was good, and you would think that
- 35:40Speaker 3: I would like it because I love historical stuff or
- 35:43Speaker 3: like fantasy stuff. I'm like really into that, but I
- 35:47Speaker 3: think some of it started to feel a little bit
- 35:49Speaker 3: gratuitous in terms of like the sex scenes and stuff
- 35:51Speaker 3: and torn me off.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I did watch House of the Dragon. Had no idea really.
- 35:55Speaker 1: What was going on. So that was one that I
- 35:57Speaker 1: felt behind on. Everyone watched it.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I think I was in college when I was like
- 36:00Speaker 2: blowing up, and I remember I was working in an
- 36:02Speaker 2: office and everyone wanted to watch that show. And once
- 36:05Speaker 2: it got to like season two, I was like, oh crap,
- 36:07Speaker 2: well I'm already behind, I know. And then actually, in
- 36:09Speaker 2: the moment I was like trying to rebel, I was like, well,
- 36:11Speaker 2: I'm too cool to watch this show.
- 36:13Speaker 1: I don't need it. And now I'm like, well I
- 36:15Speaker 1: should probably watch it because everyone raved that I was so.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Good, but they didn't like the ending for Game of Thrones.
- 36:19Speaker 3: So then it's like, am I going to commit to
- 36:21Speaker 3: twelve hundred hours of TV just to hate the ending?
- 36:26Speaker 1: See? That would get me.
- 36:27Speaker 2: But I feel like a show that's that big. One
- 36:30Speaker 2: of my favorite shows of all time The Office? Oh classic,
- 36:34Speaker 2: of course classic.
- 36:35Speaker 3: But can I also reveal I've never watched The Office
- 36:37Speaker 3: in its entirety. I've seen like scenes here and there,
- 36:41Speaker 3: Like I've seen that one scene where Jim and the
- 36:46Speaker 3: Asian guy prank Dwight. They're like, this is Jim and
- 36:51Speaker 3: they're like, no, this is not Jim.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Yeah, yeah that's it. Yeah, so you
- 36:54Speaker 1: just watched the meme versions of it.
- 36:56Speaker 3: I just watched the quotable stuff.
- 36:58Speaker 1: That's a show though they like.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Again, I feel like that is my version of what
- 37:01Speaker 2: people have is like friends, where people could have friends
- 37:03Speaker 2: on the background. They could just have it casually. They
- 37:05Speaker 2: can look over the laugh and they'll get back to
- 37:07Speaker 2: whatever they're doing. Yes, that's the Office where it's like, yeah,
- 37:09Speaker 2: you don't have to sit there and watch every episode,
- 37:11Speaker 2: but like having it on the background to just put
- 37:13Speaker 2: joy into your heart. Every episode's a little bit different,
- 37:16Speaker 2: but it's fun to still be in that world.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Yes, see, that's when you missed out on.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I need to watch it. But I'm sure whenever I
- 37:22Speaker 3: find some loser or fall in love with me, every
- 37:25Speaker 3: white boy ever is.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Like, I love The Office. Sorry, I'm that white boy.
- 37:28Speaker 3: I know they're gonna force me to watch it, and
- 37:30Speaker 3: then I'll actually enjoy it because I've never seen it before,
- 37:32Speaker 3: rather than being like, this is the ninth time I've
- 37:34Speaker 3: watched it.
- 37:35Speaker 1: It's so funny.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I mean again, I have heard there's definitely mixed reviews,
- 37:39Speaker 2: especially when I talk to women that are like, it
- 37:41Speaker 2: is that that stupid humor?
- 37:43Speaker 3: No, I don't think it's stupid humor. I think some
- 37:46Speaker 3: people have said it hasn't aged well, but I'm not
- 37:49Speaker 3: that politic like, I'm not that politically correct.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I'm trying to think.
- 37:52Speaker 2: I think it aged fine. I can't think of anything
- 37:54Speaker 2: that you think.
- 37:55Speaker 1: There's a couple of things, well that would never fly today. Correct.
- 37:59Speaker 2: I guess that show in like the twenty tens era,
- 38:01Speaker 2: and things have definitely changed in the past sixteen years
- 38:04Speaker 2: that it was released. Valid, But I still think it
- 38:07Speaker 2: would be worth the watch for a laugh, because you
- 38:10Speaker 2: know what they say, laughter is like the medicine of
- 38:11Speaker 2: the soul. I know, don't you like to laugh? I
- 38:13Speaker 2: do like to laugh, So watch the show.
- 38:15Speaker 3: But I'm hysterical, Scottie.
- 38:17Speaker 1: If I want to just laugh yourself talk, I just
- 38:20Speaker 1: have a fun time with me in the mirror.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Okay, let's move to I want to
- 38:25Speaker 2: know now because now that you're part of Tampa Bay,
- 38:28Speaker 2: I told you, and you came from Atlanta, so this
- 38:30Speaker 2: isn't new for you. But like the concert scene, I
- 38:33Speaker 2: would say Atlanta probably had very similar. I can think
- 38:36Speaker 2: most artists, if they're big enough, they go it's like Miami, Tampa, Atlanta. Yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 2: Like those are the three routes that we make in
- 38:42Speaker 2: this little southeast region.
- 38:43Speaker 1: But you've looked at some of the concerts that are
- 38:45Speaker 1: coming here.
- 38:45Speaker 2: What are the ones that you would be willing because
- 38:48Speaker 2: this the big question now, especially when there's so many shows,
- 38:52Speaker 2: what are you willing to spend your money on? Because
- 38:54Speaker 2: especially when these tickets are so expensive?
- 38:57Speaker 3: Oh my god, did you see the Harry Style scandal.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Here's the thing about the Harry Styles stuff. I'm looking
- 39:02Speaker 2: at the tickets. I think I talked about this on
- 39:04Speaker 2: air a little bit. I think tickets were what did
- 39:07Speaker 2: you see? I saw four hundred dollars, So I.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Saw that they were one thousand dollars.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Okay, I did not see that.
- 39:12Speaker 3: That's what I saw.
- 39:12Speaker 1: And I went to the Era's tour.
- 39:15Speaker 3: I think the only time I spent that much money
- 39:19Speaker 3: on a ticket was floor seats in Nashville, fourth row
- 39:24Speaker 3: at the Eras tour.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Okay, then that's that's unacceptable.
- 39:27Speaker 3: So that's why people are so upset. They're like, yes,
- 39:29Speaker 3: Harry Styles was great, and maybe I would spend a
- 39:32Speaker 3: thousand dollars to be on the floor.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Did he? He couldn't have made them a thousand dollars.
- 39:36Speaker 3: So what happened was, and this is the big scandal
- 39:39Speaker 3: here is that his and I'm gonna butcher the job titles,
- 39:43Speaker 3: so just stick with me here. So Harry's Styles officiated
- 39:48Speaker 3: somebody on his team's wedding. I don't know if it's
- 39:52Speaker 3: his manager, his agent, somebody in that realm. Stick with
- 39:56Speaker 3: me here. So his agent's dad is the four former
- 40:00Speaker 3: CEO of Ticketmaster and Live Nation.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 3: And so basically, Harry Styles enacted dynamic pricing on Ticketmaster,
- 40:11Speaker 3: which basically means they can inflate the ticket prices based
- 40:16Speaker 3: off of demand, which of course it's Harry Styles who
- 40:18Speaker 3: demand is huge.
- 40:18Speaker 1: But aren't we going away from that model?
- 40:20Speaker 2: Like haven't we seen so many other artists say no,
- 40:23Speaker 2: that is ticket price is what the ticket price is.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yes, when they're gone, they're gone.
- 40:26Speaker 3: That's what I mean is Taylor Swift didn't do dynamic pricing.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Olivia Dean went so far as to contact Ticketmasters specifically
- 40:33Speaker 3: yeah her tour about some of the pricing situations, whereas
- 40:37Speaker 3: Harry's Styles is powerful enough to say, I don't want
- 40:40Speaker 3: to do dynamic pricing. I think you can opt out
- 40:42Speaker 3: of it, like I think it's something that you can
- 40:43Speaker 3: do as an artist, like you can say yes or
- 40:45Speaker 3: no if you want it or not. And he opted in,
- 40:47Speaker 3: which basically means the higher the demand is for your show,
- 40:51Speaker 3: the more Ticketmaster can charge for your ticket.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Why would he do that? That doesn't seem like.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I go, you and Harry aren't talking on the phone
- 40:59Speaker 2: every dare, but like it doesn't seem like a hairy
- 41:01Speaker 2: thing to do.
- 41:01Speaker 3: But that's the journalism that the girlies have done, is
- 41:04Speaker 3: that they found out that somebody on his team's dad
- 41:07Speaker 3: or business partner or whatever was a big wig at Ticketmaster,
- 41:11Speaker 3: and so that's why they think he's like, of course,
- 41:13Speaker 3: like he's just gonna do whatever is gonna benefit as people.
- 41:16Speaker 1: That's so rough though.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I feel like nowadays you can't do that to your fans,
- 41:21Speaker 2: especially the ones that are like trying to buy groceries,
- 41:23Speaker 2: they're trying to put gas in their tank. And now
- 41:25Speaker 2: you're gonna make a ticket for your show one thousand dollars.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Especially not when you're Harry Styles and ay, you don't
- 41:31Speaker 3: really need the money, no, because you're going to make
- 41:34Speaker 3: a killing off this tour anyway. But also something else
- 41:37Speaker 3: that people are really upset about is that he's doing
- 41:40Speaker 3: this residency thing, which is fine. And I went to
- 41:43Speaker 3: Harry's house, which was his tour a couple of years ago,
- 41:45Speaker 3: and he did a couple of nights in Austin, a
- 41:47Speaker 3: couple of nights in New York, a couple of nights
- 41:49Speaker 3: in La So I understand touring is really hard as
- 41:51Speaker 3: an artist, like on your body. Of course, he's only
- 41:54Speaker 3: doing thirty nights in.
- 41:56Speaker 2: New York, in New York, in New York. So you've
- 41:58Speaker 2: got a nice penthouse, you come down, you sing a
- 42:00Speaker 2: couple songs. You're not even on a plane.
- 42:01Speaker 3: I know. So if you want to see Harry, not
- 42:03Speaker 3: only do you have to spend let's say a thousand dollars,
- 42:05Speaker 3: but you also have to get a hotel and fly
- 42:08Speaker 3: up there and pay for New York food. So people
- 42:11Speaker 3: are just like you shouldn't have to be in the
- 42:13Speaker 3: top fifteen percent of income earners to see your favorite artists.
- 42:17Speaker 2: And again this is okay, I'm gonna say it. He
- 42:22Speaker 2: wanted people to go to a show and like dance
- 42:24Speaker 2: and have a good time. I can't see people that
- 42:26Speaker 2: are if they're in their top fifteen percent of the
- 42:27Speaker 2: people like those usually aren't the people that are just
- 42:31Speaker 2: wilden out at your show.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Yes, I'm just from what I have seen.
- 42:34Speaker 2: There may be some, but I feel like it almost
- 42:36Speaker 2: feels like that royalty thought of like, oh, you could
- 42:38Speaker 2: just sit in the stands and attain.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Me, Like, don't you want people to have a good time?
- 42:42Speaker 2: I know, have the ones that struggle to buy grapes,
- 42:45Speaker 2: like be able to afford a ticket, like let me
- 42:47Speaker 2: go have a night out where I could just let loose,
- 42:50Speaker 2: because a concert's supposed to be the escape. That's the
- 42:52Speaker 2: whole vision of it, not just something I could do
- 42:54Speaker 2: on my royalty list. That's so interesting, it's so disappointing.
- 42:58Speaker 3: And I had a really great time at his concert. Yeah,
- 43:00Speaker 3: there's this thing that Harry does where he's this unreleased
- 43:02Speaker 3: song which I don't understand why he won't release it,
- 43:04Speaker 3: but it's called Medicine, and he only does it on
- 43:06Speaker 3: certain nights of the tour, and so he finishes the
- 43:09Speaker 3: show and then you don't know if you're getting medicine
- 43:12Speaker 3: or not, and so you're like cheering at the end medasine, medicine.
- 43:14Speaker 3: So anyway, we got the song at the very end
- 43:17Speaker 3: of the concert. I just remember being like, oh my,
- 43:20Speaker 3: the lights turn red, the girls go insane, We're like
- 43:22Speaker 3: we got medicine, and it was so so fun. So
- 43:27Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm glad I got that experience because I
- 43:29Speaker 3: ain't paying for it.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Second, the second time we're home.
- 43:32Speaker 2: No, absolutely not. I can't see unless things are just
- 43:34Speaker 2: going so well, I'm like, all right, I'll drop a thousand.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It has to be, I would always say. And I
- 43:39Speaker 2: don't really have like a favorite favorite artist. I have
- 43:41Speaker 2: artists that I like, Like Bruno Mars is coming. I
- 43:43Speaker 2: would like to see Bruno Mars, but I'm not gonna
- 43:45Speaker 2: pay a thousand dollars to be on the floor.
- 43:46Speaker 1: No, I would just like to see him.
- 43:48Speaker 2: But if he's like my favorite artist, like, that's when
- 43:51Speaker 2: I'll like, I'll cut back on what I'm eating that week,
- 43:55Speaker 2: or start putting money away a whole year earlier so
- 43:58Speaker 2: I can make it Like you went to Taylor Swift
- 44:00Speaker 2: and you were on the floor.
- 44:01Speaker 3: I had never seen her before. She's my top artist
- 44:04Speaker 3: of all time, and I wasn't. There was a period
- 44:06Speaker 3: of time where it wasn't paying rent because I was
- 44:08Speaker 3: in transition from Atlanta or Jacksonville to Atlanta, and so
- 44:11Speaker 3: I was like, well, I'm not paying rent, so I'm
- 44:13Speaker 3: a pay rent at the erastour.
- 44:14Speaker 1: That's that's a gift to yourself.
- 44:16Speaker 2: You're allowed to give yourself beautiful gifts like that, like
- 44:19Speaker 2: I usually do mine with like travel and like go
- 44:21Speaker 2: in experiences around the world. But if it's your favorite artist,
- 44:24Speaker 2: heck yeah. But I mean again, Harry Styles is awesome.
- 44:28Speaker 2: But I ain't gonna spend a thousand dollars to go
- 44:30Speaker 2: see you. If I only know like a handful of
- 44:32Speaker 2: your songs, I gotta be obsessed with you.
- 44:33Speaker 3: I already got my medicine, so I don't need to
- 44:35Speaker 3: see him a second go around.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Are there any other shows that are coming to this
- 44:38Speaker 2: area that you would be willing to spend Samula your
- 44:41Speaker 2: own money?
- 44:42Speaker 3: You know, I've never seen Ed Sheeran live, and everybody
- 44:45Speaker 3: always raves about it.
- 44:46Speaker 1: At him right now, really amazing show.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Which is so shocking to me because he's just kind
- 44:51Speaker 3: of a simple guy.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yep, where is You don't expect.
- 44:54Speaker 3: It, You don't expect it. Everyone I know has raved
- 44:57Speaker 3: about his shows and like he he's one of the
- 45:00Speaker 3: highest grossing tours of all time. And it's like without
- 45:03Speaker 3: all the flashy stuff, Like he's right up there with
- 45:05Speaker 3: the big names like Taylor and Beyonce, and he's just
- 45:07Speaker 3: like a dude with a guitar.
- 45:08Speaker 2: He goes up there with a loop pedal and he
- 45:11Speaker 2: puts it all together. I don't know what it is.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I think it's the part that he does it all
- 45:15Speaker 2: in front of you. Yeah, that becomes so immersive that
- 45:17Speaker 2: you're like, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen.
- 45:19Speaker 2: You're not relying on a backtrack, you're literally making the track,
- 45:22Speaker 2: and he does it so seamlessly that you're just one
- 45:25Speaker 2: so impressed. But also what I learned this last time,
- 45:27Speaker 2: because that's another show I'll go to again this year, yeah,
- 45:30Speaker 2: is you know so many ed Cheer and songs many
- 45:33Speaker 2: he has had so many massive hits that you're kind
- 45:36Speaker 2: of singing the entire concert. Like I've gone to shows.
- 45:38Speaker 2: I went to Doja Cat last year and I was like, crap,
- 45:40Speaker 2: I don't know any of these songs. It's like I
- 45:43Speaker 2: only knew the ones that we were playing on the station.
- 45:45Speaker 2: She has a whole new list. But when you go
- 45:47Speaker 2: to ed Cheer and you're like, oh, I know every
- 45:49Speaker 2: song here.
- 45:50Speaker 1: This is fun.
- 45:50Speaker 2: It's the pop ones, it's the dance ones. But then
- 45:53Speaker 2: it's also like, oh wow, this song's kind of trippy,
- 45:55Speaker 2: and I'm like in a weird vibe.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And he does a.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Beautiful setup because usually when he comes to Tamby does it, James.
- 46:00Speaker 1: It's this massive setup, very well done.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And I would say, if you've ever even if you're
- 46:05Speaker 2: not the biggest I was never the biggest at Cheering fan.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I respect the guy I heard. He's like one of
- 46:08Speaker 2: the nicest artists to meet. I bet one of the
- 46:11Speaker 2: best shows you could see.
- 46:12Speaker 3: He also has some really interesting social media habits, like
- 46:15Speaker 3: you won't let him. He doesn't have a phone, So
- 46:17Speaker 3: if you want to talk, if you're like Taylor Swept
- 46:19Speaker 3: and you're one of his closest friends, if you want
- 46:21Speaker 3: to talk to Ed Cheering, you have to email his
- 46:23Speaker 3: assistant or whatever, and then they have to hand him
- 46:26Speaker 3: an iPad like he's a child, which.
- 46:28Speaker 1: What a great way to be disconnected.
- 46:30Speaker 3: No, literally, but I think that goes to show his
- 46:31Speaker 3: mental state, like he's really prioritized, prioritizing the stuff that matters.
- 46:34Speaker 2: From what I've seen, like when we've ever had an
- 46:37Speaker 2: opportunity to talk with him here at the station, like
- 46:39Speaker 2: he literally sits there like criss cross in front of you,
- 46:42Speaker 2: just like an old friend just having a you know,
- 46:44Speaker 2: a glass of wine, just having a conversation with you.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I'm like to have an artist do that nowadays is
- 46:50Speaker 2: a whole new world. Yeah, but he has brought that
- 46:52Speaker 2: vibe every time that he's come here, and that's also
- 46:54Speaker 2: like the vibe yet of the show.
- 46:55Speaker 1: He's like, I'm just here for a good time.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Like maybe he messes up, he resets, he's starts over,
- 47:00Speaker 2: but he never really does because he's just so polished.
- 47:03Speaker 2: And he's also an artist that I respect because do
- 47:06Speaker 2: you know Ajar? Yeah, okay, I like AJR for the
- 47:09Speaker 2: same reason. You have footage of them just hustling in
- 47:12Speaker 2: the streets, Yeah, in the subway, learning the craft, building
- 47:15Speaker 2: an audience, and now you see them at the biggest
- 47:17Speaker 2: stage doing it. You're like, you have earned every bit
- 47:20Speaker 2: of talent that you are bringing me right now.
- 47:22Speaker 3: So that's what I mean. Like earlier today, I was
- 47:24Speaker 3: giving Addison Ray a hard time. And it's not because
- 47:27Speaker 3: I don't want her to succeed or I don't think
- 47:29Speaker 3: she has any kind of talents or gifts to give
- 47:32Speaker 3: to the world. But I love supporting somebody like an
- 47:34Speaker 3: Ajar or EDG who like, this is their passion, They
- 47:38Speaker 3: knew that this is what they were born to do.
- 47:40Speaker 3: They were willing to do whatever it took to get there.
- 47:42Speaker 1: A claud yeah, to get here.
- 47:43Speaker 3: It wasn't just some Hollywood bozo in a conference room going, well,
- 47:48Speaker 3: this person has an audience, let's see if they can sing. Yeah,
- 47:51Speaker 3: it's somebody who really cares about music, loves writing songs,
- 47:55Speaker 3: performing songs like those are the artists I enjoy following.
- 47:58Speaker 2: I like that about like somebody like Chapel Roone for
- 48:01Speaker 2: an example, Like I love that picture.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I don't know if you've seen it.
- 48:04Speaker 2: She's like at a festival and there's nobody in front
- 48:06Speaker 2: of it, nobody there.
- 48:07Speaker 1: She's performing for zero people.
- 48:08Speaker 2: And like a couple of years later, she's at a
- 48:10Speaker 2: festival and it's like, I don't know, one hundred thousand
- 48:13Speaker 2: people she's performing in front of.
- 48:14Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, I think.
- 48:15Speaker 3: It's It was insane, and I think she might have
- 48:18Speaker 3: pulled out of it the next year because she's like,
- 48:19Speaker 3: I don't.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Know if I can do that, yeah, because that's way
- 48:22Speaker 2: too much. But at the same time, those are the
- 48:25Speaker 2: artists that I look at. I'm like, you deserve this fame. Yeah,
- 48:28Speaker 2: you deserve to be in this moment because you knew
- 48:30Speaker 2: what it was like when nobody gave a dang about
- 48:33Speaker 2: your name. So now enjoy your riches.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Take my money, literally, take my money, exactly my money. Well,
- 48:40Speaker 1: that's that's Day two.
- 48:41Speaker 2: I'm so happy that we're actually being able to have
- 48:43Speaker 2: time to have these conversations. But the goal is always
- 48:46Speaker 2: to continue to dive deeper and who Abby is and
- 48:50Speaker 2: to who I am.
- 48:51Speaker 1: And also there's so many things that we talk about
- 48:53Speaker 1: on the show that are so quick that now we get.
- 48:55Speaker 2: To dive into a little bit more of the layers
- 48:58Speaker 2: of what's happening without you, like, you know, fighting with
- 49:01Speaker 2: your kids in the back of the car, trying to
- 49:02Speaker 2: get work done while you're listening with your EarPods, and
- 49:05Speaker 2: so Day two of Magic ninety four nine Unfiltered, and
- 49:07Speaker 2: also follow us on social media. You can follow the
- 49:10Speaker 2: Magic ninety four nine Instagram page. But Abby also, what's
- 49:12Speaker 2: your Instagram.
- 49:13Speaker 3: At the Abby Murphy no e just a B B
- 49:15Speaker 3: y and then Murphy mine and.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Then mine is Scott Tablin, which we kind of tried
- 49:20Speaker 2: to spell earlier s c O T T T A
- 49:23Speaker 2: V l I N. It's not Scott t Avlin, Scot,
- 49:26Speaker 2: It's Scott Tavlin.
