- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. They're trying to get him to have surgery
- 0:15Speaker 1: and he won't, or or Superman his Max so tough
- 0:18Speaker 1: that what would cause mere mortals to undergo surgery is
- 0:21Speaker 1: not affecting a few of the packers. How much difference
- 0:24Speaker 1: would it make to you if you're facing exactly like,
- 0:28Speaker 1: oh my god, we have to playing with Aaron Rodgers,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Like that's easy. Yeah, it is, but it also has
- 0:36Speaker 1: a lot of pressure because he's a dude. I love
- 0:39Speaker 1: Paul rhetories. I'm just waiting for him to get that
- 0:41Speaker 1: Frida out of the email is absolutely right, Like they
- 0:43Speaker 1: played more of it like an old school three four friend.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So what I like when you talk schemes. He's all
- 0:48Speaker 1: in eleven in his last starts. Yeah, you know that's
- 0:51Speaker 1: not good. Eric is from the Virgin Islands, which one
- 0:55Speaker 1: you know, there's so many, Yeah, all these three because
- 0:59Speaker 1: he's mart quarterback who can be a good sounding boy.
- 1:02Speaker 1: First daughter just show you know, Fred got to watch him.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I know he's on the edge. Jesus sneaky wise guy.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You might hear some vile things coming out of I'll
- 1:13Speaker 1: be making the noise Mac was making coming off the
- 1:15Speaker 1: beach direct. This is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right,
- 1:22Speaker 1: welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here at Gillett's Stadium,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and uh, we're gonna be going at Bill Belichick when
- 1:30Speaker 1: he gets to the microphone, so we could be cutting
- 1:33Speaker 1: in at any moment when he steps up. He might
- 1:35Speaker 1: have something interesting to say. Of course, the big topic
- 1:39Speaker 1: is the health of Mac Jones, so you know, I'm
- 1:42Speaker 1: sure the local media will be just you know, really
- 1:44Speaker 1: growing him on that today. So uh, you know, we
- 1:47Speaker 1: want to hear from the source because Mac told us
- 1:52Speaker 1: to ask Bill because he likes answering. Well, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 1: it's interesting. There's been a lot of talk and we
- 1:59Speaker 1: talked a lot about this yesterday too, but about you know,
- 2:01Speaker 1: surgery and this tight rope surgery that then everybody's starting
- 2:04Speaker 1: to try to learn about. I love when these buzzwords
- 2:08Speaker 1: like the tight rope surgery, Mike, you know, um, but um,
- 2:12Speaker 1: the thing that uh made me curious yesterday was the
- 2:15Speaker 1: schefter tweet and him including that line about most people,
- 2:19Speaker 1: most people would would undergo surgery, and we talked about
- 2:22Speaker 1: it was part of our open today. Um, that's got
- 2:26Speaker 1: to be a question to Bill Belichick today, right, like
- 2:28Speaker 1: you know it is is it the intention to for
- 2:32Speaker 1: Mac to undergo surgery? Uh? Is it the team's desire
- 2:36Speaker 1: that he undergoes? You know, I don't think he's going
- 2:38Speaker 1: to answer any of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I'm not naive. It's not my first rodeo. I don't
- 2:42Speaker 1: I don't think you'll answer any of these questions, but
- 2:44Speaker 1: those questions need to be asked, right, Yeah, sure, I'm
- 2:49Speaker 1: just curious he's gonna be out practiced. There's there's a
- 2:51Speaker 1: growing contingent of people that seemed to think he's going
- 2:52Speaker 1: to be out there today like I would some people
- 2:57Speaker 1: you know, who think he's going to be at practice
- 2:59Speaker 1: to people like your name names no, no, no, no no.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I mean I think it was kind of in jest.
- 3:04Speaker 1: We were just talking upstairs in the bullpen before the
- 3:06Speaker 1: show of like, you know, and ever was kind of
- 3:08Speaker 1: being like, I don't know, I think Max's gonna try
- 3:10Speaker 1: to push it somehow, say that I've heard people say
- 3:13Speaker 1: that like, don't rule him out. I'm just gonna tell you,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I am going to be merciless making fun of him
- 3:18Speaker 1: if he plays on Sunday. If he's like, that's ridiculous
- 3:22Speaker 1: to have that reaction coming off the field and playing
- 3:25Speaker 1: six days later, Paul Pierce is laughing at you. Um.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But I do need to mention to all Patriots fans that, um,
- 3:35Speaker 1: there's this new thing called NFL All Day and with
- 3:38Speaker 1: it with NFL All Day up, let's go to Bill.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Been looking at a lot of film here on the Packers. Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 1: just start off with um. You see the films, scan
- 3:53Speaker 1: the scoreboard and you see those names up there, um,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and the great players and coaches that they've had there. Really,
- 4:02Speaker 1: you know, brings back a lot of memories and appreciation
- 4:06Speaker 1: for you know, what this franchise has done. And I
- 4:09Speaker 1: don't really how great they've been. You know Isbell and Hankle, Hudson, Lambeau, Bartie.
- 4:19Speaker 1: You just go right down the line and you know
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Isabelle and Hudson, Um, great great combination there. Um,
- 4:31Speaker 1: Hudson you know started the draft first real receiver is
- 4:37Speaker 1: Bell Hudson combination. Now we see those throughout the league
- 4:40Speaker 1: every every quarterback receiver combination, but really at all all
- 4:43Speaker 1: started you know, eight eighty some years ago with them
- 4:46Speaker 1: and um um and you look at Packers the last
- 4:51Speaker 1: couple of years and you know, number one seed in
- 4:52Speaker 1: the NFC. Um, that's some things don't change too much.
- 4:57Speaker 1: So um, it's a really good football team, well coached,
- 5:01Speaker 1: well balanced. I think we saw it last week in
- 5:03Speaker 1: the Tampa game. You know, defensively in the kicking game, UM,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you know, solid performance. And of course you know offensively,
- 5:10Speaker 1: this is a great great great quarterback, good running backs,
- 5:17Speaker 1: good skill players, very efficient offensively, schedually, know what they're doing.
- 5:22Speaker 1: They're well coached, the execute well um. And you can
- 5:27Speaker 1: see that they've made some adjustments and improvements defensively in
- 5:31Speaker 1: the kicking game. That showed up the first you know,
- 5:34Speaker 1: early part of the season here. So um, good football team. UM.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Good opportunity, good challenge for us, great football environment always
- 5:42Speaker 1: in Green Bay. So excited about the opportunity to compete there. Um.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And it's been um good good to go up and
- 5:54Speaker 1: a good good view with the Packers and how they
- 5:57Speaker 1: do things in close details on the team that we
- 6:01Speaker 1: have a lot of familiarity with. I haven't played in
- 6:04Speaker 1: a while, but they're they're good. They're good. They're good players,
- 6:08Speaker 1: well coached all three units. You know, Rich just done
- 6:11Speaker 1: a good job for him. Um offensively, defensively. There their numbers,
- 6:18Speaker 1: their performance speaks for itself. So UM saw him back
- 6:23Speaker 1: a little while ago. UM definitely getting better. UM probably
- 6:27Speaker 1: won't practice today, but made a lot of progress here
- 6:30Speaker 1: in the last whatever forty eight hours. So keep plugging away.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Take that day by day, so Sell goes, and that's
- 6:40Speaker 1: where we are for today. Back to start on Sunday.
- 6:44Speaker 1: For you guys, take good day by day when you
- 6:50Speaker 1: when you go through the process of preparing the game plan,
- 6:53Speaker 1: then you have that level of uncertainty at quarterback. What
- 6:57Speaker 1: impact does that have on that process as you start
- 7:00Speaker 1: to put the team together. Yeah, not too much. Bryan's
- 7:04Speaker 1: got a lot of experience. He's done everything that we
- 7:07Speaker 1: would want to do. Mac be able to do it,
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know with I think minimal practice if that was
- 7:13Speaker 1: what it was. So I just take a day by day.
- 7:16Speaker 1: We're not really doing anything differently, m HM. Is the
- 7:24Speaker 1: plan built for Max to have any kind of procedures
- 7:27Speaker 1: to help long with the process here? Day by day,
- 7:30Speaker 1: film day by day, that's the plan. Day by day
- 7:41Speaker 1: is are you and the team on the same page
- 7:43Speaker 1: with Mac and his team as it comes to the
- 7:45Speaker 1: injury and how to bro progress, how to move forward? Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'm not really sure what the what the nature of
- 7:58Speaker 1: the question is day by day he's getting better. Say
- 8:03Speaker 1: how goes day by day? Does he have a high
- 8:07Speaker 1: ankles brain? Day by day? What do I look like
- 8:12Speaker 1: a doctor? An orthopedic surgeon? Like, I don't know. Talk
- 8:17Speaker 1: to the medical experts. What are the medical experts on staff?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Set dude? Day by day we'll evaluate him, David, I mean,
- 8:27Speaker 1: what difference is to make to make What do you
- 8:29Speaker 1: think I'm gonna read? Mr I That's not my job,
- 8:32Speaker 1: So it's theirs and they talk to you about it. Right. Yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 1: it's day by day. It's getting better day by day.
- 8:40Speaker 1: See see it's tomorrow. It's better than it was yesterday.
- 8:43Speaker 1: See what it is? Mentioned Ryan earlier when he start
- 8:48Speaker 1: on Sunday to Maccanco. Yes, what have you seen from
- 8:54Speaker 1: him built over the over the years to it's where
- 8:57Speaker 1: he is now as far as going the offense and
- 9:00Speaker 1: he knows it better than anybody, I mean from all
- 9:04Speaker 1: of all experience standpoint. I mean this year is this
- 9:06Speaker 1: year U, But yeah, I and Brian's had a lot
- 9:10Speaker 1: of experience. It's been a lot of different systems. I've
- 9:12Speaker 1: seen a lot of football, taking a lot of snaps
- 9:15Speaker 1: for us in various capacities. But he played well in
- 9:19Speaker 1: the preseason. We don't eem to go, He'll be ready
- 9:22Speaker 1: to go. How many balance getting Bailey work? Potentially Brian
- 9:33Speaker 1: is starting Bailey's snap away from getting out there. And
- 9:37Speaker 1: there's same situation every week. Whoever it takes the snaps,
- 9:43Speaker 1: then there's some snaps for the other player. Most of
- 9:46Speaker 1: them run the scout team. But we've been down that
- 9:50Speaker 1: splitting quarterbacks reps. It goes back to Bailey, Brady and
- 9:54Speaker 1: Bledsoe back in two thousand and one. We stopped doing
- 9:57Speaker 1: it after the Rams game twenty pounder many years ago.
- 10:05Speaker 1: M what have you seen from from one? Kind of
- 10:08Speaker 1: progress that you've seen from Bailey? Uh, you know since
- 10:11Speaker 1: the start of the summer. Joe Jos yesterday was saying
- 10:13Speaker 1: that he's starting to grasp the bigger picture and he's
- 10:16Speaker 1: done a good job of not competing mistakes. Yeah, I
- 10:19Speaker 1: would like any rookie quarterback. He has a lot to
- 10:22Speaker 1: learn and he's learned a lot. He's learned a ton.
- 10:24Speaker 1: He's a smart kid. He absorbs information well, process as well. Um,
- 10:29Speaker 1: every snap helps him whatever it is, walk through Scott,
- 10:33Speaker 1: team reps, one on ones, things like that. But he's
- 10:37Speaker 1: got a long way to go. Is there any kind
- 10:43Speaker 1: of emotional impact for a locker room if a quarterback
- 10:48Speaker 1: this is time in your experience? Could there be? I
- 10:52Speaker 1: don't know. Brian will be ready to go if he
- 10:57Speaker 1: has to be ready to go. I think we all
- 10:58Speaker 1: know that, so I don't really worry about it. Oh,
- 11:10Speaker 1: I wass too with Aaron Rogers. You call him as
- 11:12Speaker 1: good as anybody. Um? Is there an at an important
- 11:16Speaker 1: son a guy like that where you you can't show
- 11:18Speaker 1: a pre snap point you're in and tip them off
- 11:19Speaker 1: in any sort of way. Trying to do that every week?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Try not to give the quarterbacks anymore? All right, So
- 11:29Speaker 1: we're gonna cut off Bill. You know, I think all
- 11:32Speaker 1: the math questions are pretty much asked and answered. Um,
- 11:37Speaker 1: we did learn that it would be Howyre as the starter. Um,
- 11:42Speaker 1: so that puts the bed at least the Zappie talk. Um.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But um, Mike Da, I want to see when Sonheim
- 11:54Speaker 1: moon musical here all of a sudden, uh, I mean
- 11:56Speaker 1: echoing one Max tape by day these things, so I
- 12:02Speaker 1: don't know what to think. Are they are they kind
- 12:04Speaker 1: of just gonnas. I gotta be honest with I think
- 12:08Speaker 1: that they're trying to spend any amount of time to
- 12:12Speaker 1: have Matt Lafleura and Green Bay think that Mac Jones
- 12:15Speaker 1: is going to be out there playing football on Sunday
- 12:18Speaker 1: like well, and that's the thing, like say, I am,
- 12:23Speaker 1: you know, naive Patriots fan, which some people think I am.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I'm like, I have a glimmer of hope based on
- 12:31Speaker 1: what he's saying that he's getting better every day. We
- 12:35Speaker 1: got a lot better on the last day. I mean,
- 12:37Speaker 1: when you get hurt further away from the injury, right,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you feel a little better every time, but like a lot.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But he's he's leading people to believe that maybe by Saturday,
- 12:47Speaker 1: this kid could play, right, And I think that's pathetic.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I think, no, it's not fair to Mac Jones. I
- 12:54Speaker 1: think it's fair to say it. I just I think
- 12:55Speaker 1: it's you know, is this it gives credence to like, well,
- 12:58Speaker 1: maybe even not this week, but maybe next week, Like
- 13:01Speaker 1: you're gonna be kind of strung along now for like
- 13:04Speaker 1: the period that Mac Jones is and that's all it's about. Mike,
- 13:07Speaker 1: That's all it's about. So now he's gonna have not
- 13:10Speaker 1: only Matt Laflour is going to spend some time thinking
- 13:12Speaker 1: about it, but now we Dan Campbell next week said well, geez,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I mean he had a chance to play last week.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So we got to prepare for both of these guys.
- 13:19Speaker 1: That's what this is all about, you know. And I've
- 13:21Speaker 1: I've it's not like, well, Bill never ever ever I've
- 13:24Speaker 1: heard him say about other it's a pretty significant injury.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I've heard him say that like a couple days after
- 13:30Speaker 1: an injury. So it's not like he never ever gives
- 13:33Speaker 1: you the level of severity. Yeah, but he does that
- 13:37Speaker 1: when guys get put on IR well there and then
- 13:40Speaker 1: subsequently they get put on IR. I've heard him say
- 13:43Speaker 1: that like on a Monday, you know, like just coming
- 13:46Speaker 1: back from a game. I've heard him say that, not often,
- 13:48Speaker 1: but I have heard that. But here he's choosing to
- 13:51Speaker 1: say I don't know day by day, and so like
- 13:57Speaker 1: what's the end goal? Like what's the end goal here?
- 13:59Speaker 1: You know, I don't know, Listen, I don't I guess
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm naive Patriots fan. I hope it is Dave by
- 14:06Speaker 1: Day and like, maybe not this week, but he could
- 14:09Speaker 1: play next week. But he kind of seemed like he
- 14:12Speaker 1: was enjoying it too, a little like did he seem
- 14:14Speaker 1: like he was kind of taking a little bit of
- 14:16Speaker 1: delight And except for one question, which the one question
- 14:20Speaker 1: that he didn't seem to enjoy was and I don't
- 14:22Speaker 1: I want to credit the person. I didn't recognize that.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Guys in the same page, yes, yeah, and then that one,
- 14:28Speaker 1: all of a sudden, the fake smile left, the day
- 14:31Speaker 1: by Day Medley left, and it was a long pause
- 14:35Speaker 1: because I think that's the crux of the issue. Yeah,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I think they want him to have surgery so he
- 14:40Speaker 1: can get back faster based on everything I'm reading. I
- 14:43Speaker 1: don't listen. I'm not a doctor, and I don't pretend
- 14:45Speaker 1: to be one, but I'm reading all of this stuff
- 14:47Speaker 1: from the Alabama thing with this quote unquote tightwrote surgery
- 14:52Speaker 1: and that allows you to get back quicker. Right. My
- 14:54Speaker 1: guess is he's balking at that and doesn't want And
- 14:57Speaker 1: I understand I'm not trying to defend either side here.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I understand the team wants it back as quickly as possible.
- 15:02Speaker 1: And I understand if Mac is thinking, well, if this
- 15:05Speaker 1: is something that can heal just by rest, I'd rather rest.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean, no one thinks that surgery is better than
- 15:11Speaker 1: just letting it go away. You have surgery because it's
- 15:13Speaker 1: not going to get fixed unless you have surgery. Right.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Isn't that the way most people go about life, or
- 15:19Speaker 1: to quick and quick end up your return? Right? Well? Yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 1: well that that's two different things. If it's going to
- 15:25Speaker 1: be okay. Like I mean, if I if I tear
- 15:27Speaker 1: my ACL, I can go about life without fixing my
- 15:30Speaker 1: ACL if I want to. But if I want to
- 15:32Speaker 1: play football, I need to get that repaired, right, I
- 15:34Speaker 1: need to get it surgically repaired. So like I get that.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Like there's a difference of opinion there for the player
- 15:41Speaker 1: and for the coach. I think that's the crux of
- 15:43Speaker 1: this issue. I'm torn on it, and I said it.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I can see both sides of you know, this potential
- 15:49Speaker 1: rift or you know, if that drama does exist, But
- 15:52Speaker 1: you know, on on one side of it, I see
- 15:54Speaker 1: Mac as a kid who seems willing to bend over
- 15:56Speaker 1: backwards to do whatever this coaching staff wants to do
- 15:59Speaker 1: up into this point, to the point where he's going
- 16:01Speaker 1: out into that press conference and taking one for the
- 16:03Speaker 1: team and just doing the same day by day routine,
- 16:06Speaker 1: which now makes a little bit more sense to me,
- 16:09Speaker 1: they're going to roll it out. I think that that
- 16:11Speaker 1: was an example of him not necessarily just being the
- 16:15Speaker 1: good little soldier soldier. I think he put it on
- 16:17Speaker 1: Belichick like, yeah, he's got all the answers ask him.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I just don't. I don't see this jump to like
- 16:23Speaker 1: Mac is suddenly like feeling like they're not taking care
- 16:25Speaker 1: of him in year two. I don't know that that's
- 16:27Speaker 1: a stretch for me. We'll see if he has surgery,
- 16:29Speaker 1: because if he if he has surgery, I would say
- 16:31Speaker 1: that he's doing what the team wants him to do, right,
- 16:33Speaker 1: and that would be my opinion. And then I would
- 16:34Speaker 1: say on on Paul side of that, which I also
- 16:36Speaker 1: see this angle of it, is that Mac has never
- 16:39Speaker 1: had a surgery like this. He's never had a serious injury.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And I think in some ways this seems to me
- 16:44Speaker 1: like the reality of playing quarterback in the NFL, coming
- 16:47Speaker 1: home to roost for Mac Jones of it's really hard
- 16:50Speaker 1: and you get injured and you get off the field
- 16:52Speaker 1: and they say, all right, you're gonna be a surgery
- 16:54Speaker 1: now and you're gonna be back in two weeks. And
- 16:55Speaker 1: that's just how it is for quarterbacks. I wonder if
- 16:57Speaker 1: he's in this mode now where it's like, this is
- 17:00Speaker 1: what it is, you know, realizing, oh God, like you know,
- 17:02Speaker 1: they're gonna pressure me to get surgery. Like I see
- 17:04Speaker 1: that side. It is the other thing. There's a third side,
- 17:07Speaker 1: believe it or not. So you got the player in
- 17:09Speaker 1: his agent, in his camp, he got the team, But
- 17:11Speaker 1: then you've got the doctors. Now, the doctors are supposed
- 17:14Speaker 1: to be independent, and our doctors are you know MGH doctors.
- 17:18Speaker 1: MGH is known to be one of the best hospitals
- 17:21Speaker 1: in the world for good reason, right, so they probably
- 17:25Speaker 1: they get defensive too. It's like, okay, here's our this
- 17:27Speaker 1: is what you should do. Here's our opinion. Well I
- 17:29Speaker 1: want a second opinion. Well they start digging their heels
- 17:32Speaker 1: in the ground. Well why would you not listen to
- 17:34Speaker 1: us where MGH we're the best in the world. And
- 17:38Speaker 1: you know, now he's going to go to some other doctor.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Remember when Brady did that, it was a whole thing
- 17:42Speaker 1: Why wouldn't you trust what MGH doctors is saying. He
- 17:45Speaker 1: went to LA and had that guy, he ended up
- 17:49Speaker 1: getting an infection and all that stuff, which could happen anywhere.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I understand that, But there's that other factor of Gronk
- 17:56Speaker 1: is the postal child for not trusting the Yeah, the
- 17:59Speaker 1: team because of what they did with his arm. But
- 18:01Speaker 1: supposedly the team gets their advice from their doctors, you know,
- 18:05Speaker 1: like Jim Whalen's a trainer, he's not an orthopedic. No no,
- 18:08Speaker 1: no, no no, no. This this team doctors that are making
- 18:10Speaker 1: these kinds, but those teams are not. They have surgery. Yeah,
- 18:12Speaker 1: those team doctors are from there. This isn't their only job. Well,
- 18:17Speaker 1: but they also have a prop thread. There's been countless
- 18:20Speaker 1: examples of team doctors not doing right by I know,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and the Fox Got Suited film. But they're all affiliates.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I mean, they all have real jobs with real hospital
- 18:29Speaker 1: I understand it. And they also have egos and they
- 18:33Speaker 1: believe I'm giving you the best advice you can get.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And then the player says, no, I'm getting a second opinion,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and they the player has every right to do that.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But there's also that there's also like and it also
- 18:44Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily have to be like mac Jone, Like, listen,
- 18:49Speaker 1: if this was me, like this, this is an easy
- 18:51Speaker 1: one for me, Like I would do whatever it took
- 18:53Speaker 1: for me to get back on the field fastest. I
- 18:55Speaker 1: would have the surgery based on what I'm reading. Okay,
- 18:58Speaker 1: so this is not about like signing with one or
- 19:00Speaker 1: the other. I'm just saying I understand the team wants
- 19:03Speaker 1: the guy back on the field, and I understand the
- 19:05Speaker 1: player doesn't necessarily want to do that if he doesn't
- 19:08Speaker 1: have to. So I get both sides. Even though I
- 19:11Speaker 1: would do what the team wants in this particular case,
- 19:14Speaker 1: I just think I wouldn't be critical of a guy
- 19:18Speaker 1: who wants to make sure it's you know, not just
- 19:20Speaker 1: a quick fix. You know, like he's in his second
- 19:23Speaker 1: year and he's theoretically looking at it like I want
- 19:26Speaker 1: to play ten or twelve years. I don't want to
- 19:27Speaker 1: have a surgery in my second year that I didn't
- 19:29Speaker 1: have to have that potentially could hurt me down the road.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I don't know, like is there like what is the
- 19:36Speaker 1: you know, what is the history of that? You know?
- 19:38Speaker 1: How are they how are these guys like that? Are
- 19:39Speaker 1: they okay forever. Yeah, it's kind of new, you know now,
- 19:44Speaker 1: And I understand that the team doctors are from the
- 19:46Speaker 1: point of you getting you back on the field. I
- 19:49Speaker 1: think it's you know, it's responsible to go and get
- 19:51Speaker 1: a second opinion. You have to protect you. I know
- 19:53Speaker 1: firsthand my kid went through a heart thing and you know,
- 19:56Speaker 1: we got a second opinion and it was a good
- 19:58Speaker 1: thing we did. Yeah, you know, yeah, I mean I
- 20:02Speaker 1: don't I don't the fact that he wants to get
- 20:03Speaker 1: a second opinion. I don't think it's like something that
- 20:05Speaker 1: I would criticize a player for it, especially in that league.
- 20:09Speaker 1: And I don't think really anyone is criticizing him about.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I think it's it's the line between it's the last
- 20:16Speaker 1: between wanting a second opinion and other people saying, well,
- 20:20Speaker 1: it's not just a second opinion. He wants to go
- 20:22Speaker 1: fishing for the response, so he wants so, well, that's
- 20:25Speaker 1: part of it. So that's exactly what Mike just okay, Yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 1: So this is why I be a little critical of
- 20:30Speaker 1: what we just heard from Bill Belichick. So you say
- 20:33Speaker 1: that he's not necessarily okay, So Belichick basically indicated that
- 20:37Speaker 1: he could be at practice as soon as today and
- 20:39Speaker 1: could play on Sunday. Why then would you be looking
- 20:43Speaker 1: for a second opinion. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah,
- 20:47Speaker 1: so he's looking for a second opinion because I think
- 20:50Speaker 1: they're trying to pressure him to have surgery so he
- 20:53Speaker 1: gets back as fast as possible and he doesn't want it.
- 20:55Speaker 1: That's my it's my guess. It's yeah, it's just like
- 20:58Speaker 1: gues could be. It could be you know who knows.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think you'd have a second opinion
- 21:03Speaker 1: if they were like, no, no, you're You're just like it.
- 21:06Speaker 1: It'll it'll heal and you maybe not this week, but
- 21:10Speaker 1: next week you'll be back. M Alex, you'll be looking
- 21:13Speaker 1: for a second opinion for that. I know who Alex
- 21:15Speaker 1: is here? Um and we listened, Yeah, you were there.
- 21:20Speaker 1: What did you think? Day by day? Day by day?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Day by day? Who asked the question? Um? Are they
- 21:27Speaker 1: on the same page? Second? Was Mac and the team
- 21:29Speaker 1: on the same page in terms of how to go?
- 21:31Speaker 1: That came from behind me. Listen, I asked you to
- 21:34Speaker 1: do one thing. You felt great going on Twitter and
- 21:38Speaker 1: telling everybody that sometimes I get buffalo tenders and I
- 21:41Speaker 1: shared my fries with you yesterday that was okay. I
- 21:43Speaker 1: asked you for one favor, you dropped the ball. I
- 21:45Speaker 1: will come with you for a second favor. Did you
- 21:48Speaker 1: ask me for this favor right now? I don't know.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I thought that was a real I thought that was
- 21:53Speaker 1: a really good question, and I don't think it was
- 21:55Speaker 1: a cheap shot. I don't think it was looking to
- 21:57Speaker 1: stir it up, you know, muck Rake. I thought it
- 21:59Speaker 1: was a good question. Are are you in the player
- 22:03Speaker 1: on the same page when it comes to the treatment
- 22:05Speaker 1: of this injury? I think is a really good question.
- 22:08Speaker 1: And I thought Bills, that was his one departure from
- 22:13Speaker 1: day by day Phil, day by day Mike. All of
- 22:17Speaker 1: a sudden, it was stone faced silence for ten seconds
- 22:21Speaker 1: before he said anything. That one to me indicator indicated
- 22:26Speaker 1: that this this truth to that. So did you, Alice,
- 22:29Speaker 1: as soon as the press conference was over, did you
- 22:31Speaker 1: leave right away? Or did you mull about and hear
- 22:33Speaker 1: what people are saying a little bit? I didn't linger
- 22:37Speaker 1: too long After the press conference, Stacy introduced, I guess
- 22:41Speaker 1: we have a new kid on the PR staff. So
- 22:43Speaker 1: that was kind of post press conference was introduced. So
- 22:46Speaker 1: he introduces him to the media before the people that
- 22:49Speaker 1: he's gonna work with. Yeah, I'm assuming it's a mail
- 22:52Speaker 1: you said his name is Jimmy, Jimmy Jimmy like a um, yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I think people are kind of just still laughing from
- 23:02Speaker 1: that was a more comical one. It wasn't It was
- 23:07Speaker 1: Bill appearing to kind of like, Yeah. Bill had the
- 23:11Speaker 1: biggest smile on his face, the get go walking in
- 23:14Speaker 1: smile on his face. Hey, everyone, how are you doing great?
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'm great and like, um, Chelsea, I'm blanking on her
- 23:20Speaker 1: last name. The reporter who had Donald Chelsea McDonald asked
- 23:24Speaker 1: the question about if mac was in a place Sunday, like,
- 23:27Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm not an northopedic surgeon and like
- 23:29Speaker 1: the biggest smile on his face. He was so happy
- 23:31Speaker 1: to an orthopedic surgeon. So my guess and again this
- 23:35Speaker 1: is when I get in trouble because I do stupid
- 23:37Speaker 1: things and speculate wildly, but I'm gonna do it anyway.
- 23:40Speaker 1: My guess is he's like, oh, way do you see
- 23:44Speaker 1: what I got today? Way? Do you see what I
- 23:47Speaker 1: got today? I'm going to open with a five minute
- 23:50Speaker 1: die a tribe on Don Hudson in the history of
- 23:52Speaker 1: the writing bays nice try and then I'm gonna say
- 23:56Speaker 1: and Max doing better, getting better every day, and then
- 23:59Speaker 1: we'll go and now just every one of them that
- 24:01Speaker 1: gets pitched up to me, yeah, I'll knock it right
- 24:03Speaker 1: over the fence by saying day by day and give
- 24:06Speaker 1: him my fake plastic smile after it. This is onto.
- 24:09Speaker 1: That was all. That was all so orchestrated. Oh yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: this is on to Cincinnati. And in some way, you know,
- 24:18Speaker 1: whether or not they told Mac to say what he said,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I think he's saying I'm gonna do Mac and I
- 24:25Speaker 1: are on the same page when it comes to answering
- 24:28Speaker 1: these questions. In some way they showed solidarity there. Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know, yeah, that's why. I mean yeah, I mean,
- 24:35Speaker 1: like I said, I think it made a little bit
- 24:37Speaker 1: more sense of like, all right, well, I get that
- 24:38Speaker 1: the message is being put out, but I just again,
- 24:42Speaker 1: it feels like a lot of effort to I just
- 24:44Speaker 1: think it was for different reasons they're on the same page.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I think Mac did it because he's like, yeah, you
- 24:50Speaker 1: answer it. I ain't answer it. You got all the answers,
- 24:52Speaker 1: you answer all the questions. I'm throwing them all to you.
- 24:55Speaker 1: That's what I think it was that sounds more like
- 24:57Speaker 1: Paul talking than Mac Jones to me. Yeah, listen, I
- 25:02Speaker 1: know I've been critical of Mac Jones. I can't. I
- 25:04Speaker 1: can't see Mac. I can't. I can't do at this point.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I can't. I mean, I don't know if you watched
- 25:08Speaker 1: any of the press conferences all summer about when he
- 25:11Speaker 1: was asked questions about Matt Patricia and yeah, I think
- 25:14Speaker 1: it's he's I think it's been there. I think guys
- 25:16Speaker 1: haven't been paying attention. He's coached, and I think that.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I don't. It took Brady like a long time before
- 25:23Speaker 1: he started saying stuff. Brady came up under a different
- 25:26Speaker 1: kind of player, different kind of person. Ye, different time nowadays.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I spend all your life on the phone, and now
- 25:33Speaker 1: he spent three days being I know, but I just
- 25:35Speaker 1: sent to people tell you how I'm not tough. I
- 25:38Speaker 1: think Mac is a tough, tough guy. I think Mac
- 25:41Speaker 1: is a team guy. Yeah, I says he's not a
- 25:43Speaker 1: team guy. I think he if he doesn't have surgery,
- 25:45Speaker 1: that doesn't make him not a team I don't say that.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I didn't say that, but I think he's he's towing
- 25:50Speaker 1: the company line right now. This is what we need
- 25:53Speaker 1: you to say, Mac, don't go into detail, you don't,
- 25:55Speaker 1: don't do it. I think he's not going into detail
- 25:57Speaker 1: on purpose. You don't think he's press because it's a
- 25:59Speaker 1: passive aggressive hour to force to get back at Bill
- 26:01Speaker 1: Belichick at this point. I don't that's because that's I
- 26:04Speaker 1: don't think like what I don't see. I mean, I
- 26:06Speaker 1: think he's been with with really hard coaches his whole career.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I don't think that turn now. I mean, I'm not
- 26:12Speaker 1: saying it couldn't be that, but I don't think it is.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I think he's putting it all on Bill's plate. That's so,
- 26:17Speaker 1: I don't think it's a passive aggressive anything. And I
- 26:19Speaker 1: think Bill probably said, put it all on my plate,
- 26:21Speaker 1: this is what I wanted to and then Bill put
- 26:23Speaker 1: it on the training and then kill and then we'll
- 26:26Speaker 1: Bill deals with it in his typical way by day,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you know. So I don't know. I don't know. Listen,
- 26:36Speaker 1: he's not gonna be out there today. But what he
- 26:38Speaker 1: said yesterday, I don't think. I don't think he said
- 26:40Speaker 1: he's not gonna be out there today. I don't say
- 26:41Speaker 1: he didn't know if he'd be out there today. I
- 26:42Speaker 1: said probably he probably probably practiced today. And I don't
- 26:46Speaker 1: mean he didn't say, he didn't say, No, this is
- 26:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying. This is and and you know, like
- 26:51Speaker 1: we said yesterday, I don't think the packers are losing
- 26:53Speaker 1: any sleep wondering who they should prepare for, you know,
- 26:56Speaker 1: so certainly, no, I don't see the point in all
- 26:58Speaker 1: of this. But okay, and that's and that's like the
- 27:01Speaker 1: main point I just go back to of going into
- 27:04Speaker 1: this year of trying to make things easy for mac Jones,
- 27:06Speaker 1: or trying to support mac Jones, or trying to create
- 27:08Speaker 1: an environment where he feels like he is supported and
- 27:11Speaker 1: can grow. And you know, regardless of where you fall
- 27:13Speaker 1: on this whole kind of like you know, real drama
- 27:15Speaker 1: or whatever is going behind the scenes. Like it's just
- 27:17Speaker 1: I mean, it's just hard. You don't even have to say.
- 27:20Speaker 1: You can say, yeah, Max's gonna lose some time starting
- 27:22Speaker 1: with this game. And you don't even have to say
- 27:24Speaker 1: two games, four games, four weeks. Oh, I don't I
- 27:26Speaker 1: don't need a timetable. All you have to say he's
- 27:28Speaker 1: gonna miss some time starting with this game. Yeah, timetables
- 27:31Speaker 1: get you in trouble. I have no problem with Bill
- 27:33Speaker 1: knock your ouse. If Bill wants to avoid the constant questions,
- 27:36Speaker 1: he's not gonna do it because after this week, if
- 27:40Speaker 1: he hasn't played, gonna be ready, right, you ask him,
- 27:45Speaker 1: I gotta ask him every day. Let me ask you this.
- 27:46Speaker 1: This is a completely different side of this. Do you
- 27:49Speaker 1: think there's any chance that he gets placed placed on
- 27:51Speaker 1: ir between now on Sunday? Because I do. I think
- 27:56Speaker 1: there's a chance of that would be amazing. Well, maybe
- 27:58Speaker 1: after that second opinion he could be right, Yeah, well
- 28:01Speaker 1: something I would say. You're gonna say it was because
- 28:03Speaker 1: of the second opinion? Well no, but I mean they know, right,
- 28:07Speaker 1: they know right now roughly how long he's well the
- 28:09Speaker 1: team does, Bill knows how roughly how long he's gonna
- 28:13Speaker 1: be out? Now, wait for like, let's just say that
- 28:16Speaker 1: that was a catastrophic injury. He's gonna miss at least
- 28:18Speaker 1: four weeks. You're going like, in a normal world, how
- 28:20Speaker 1: how long would you put him like Monday? Like when
- 28:22Speaker 1: do you usually do it? You know? Like like is
- 28:24Speaker 1: there usual like if a guy suffers an injury Sunday,
- 28:26Speaker 1: how quickly do you turn it around and put him
- 28:28Speaker 1: on Friday? Because you're trying to like minimize the amount
- 28:31Speaker 1: of time he has to be on you know what
- 28:32Speaker 1: I mean, Like, there's four games. It's just four games regardless.
- 28:35Speaker 1: So as long as you could have put him Monday,
- 28:36Speaker 1: could have put him, Monday could put him Saturday. It's
- 28:38Speaker 1: four games. Yeah, Okay, okay, either way, UM avoid that
- 28:42Speaker 1: minimus minimum of four games minimum. Yeah, um yeah, I
- 28:47Speaker 1: just think. Um, I will say, like I could have
- 28:52Speaker 1: egg on my face on Sunday. Like if we're sitting
- 28:55Speaker 1: here Sunday afternoon and and Mac Jones is playing, I'll
- 28:59Speaker 1: say I was wrong. I was wrong. All those reports
- 29:02Speaker 1: were wrong, and I and I believe something. I believe
- 29:05Speaker 1: some stupid reports. Yeah, so I'll you know, listen, I'm
- 29:08Speaker 1: not telling you that. I'm just going by the information
- 29:10Speaker 1: that we're here, and I can't imagine every seem I'm
- 29:16Speaker 1: eliminating that because I'm trying to be nice. I'm just
- 29:18Speaker 1: going off of everything I've read. I'm going off of
- 29:21Speaker 1: everything I've read, and I can't imagine that every one
- 29:23Speaker 1: of these guys, Adam Schefter, Ian Rappapoot, Tom Pellisero, Mike Garafalo,
- 29:28Speaker 1: like all of these national guys are all telling you
- 29:31Speaker 1: that it's a severe high ankle sprain and he's gonna
- 29:34Speaker 1: play six days later, right, Like there's a chance that
- 29:37Speaker 1: you could play six days later, right, I mean, I
- 29:39Speaker 1: think that's at least at least two weeks. I didn't
- 29:42Speaker 1: that Garoppolo missed two weeks with a high ankle sprain
- 29:44Speaker 1: before he played against the Patriots in twenty I don't
- 29:46Speaker 1: remember that one. All I remember is the Gronk one
- 29:48Speaker 1: and he was two weeks later, ineffective in Super Bowl
- 29:52Speaker 1: for it, and he was a decoy, couldn't play. But
- 29:53Speaker 1: I will say that there's only one position that you
- 29:56Speaker 1: could possibly play, and that's quarterback. And like you're left
- 29:58Speaker 1: foot too, where you're not really that I was told
- 30:02Speaker 1: yesterday by a former NFL quarterback and not named, not
- 30:05Speaker 1: named Scott Zolak that it's worse with the left foot
- 30:08Speaker 1: because you're landing on it, you're coming, you're coming over
- 30:11Speaker 1: it every throw. Okay, um was the way it was described. Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 1: that's like your weight distribution foot. Well, we won't practice today.
- 30:19Speaker 1: There it is, and I promise you, But the x
- 30:21Speaker 1: NFL quarterback was not Scott zola Wow, who who are you?
- 30:25Speaker 1: What circles are running with? Perillo what's going on here?
- 30:28Speaker 1: You can't tell you, babe, Parilli, I don't thanks bad.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, this was funny. That was That was
- 30:37Speaker 1: high comedy. I will say that that was high commed.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Bill thought so too. Oh. Bill cracked himself up. I mean,
- 30:43Speaker 1: he just hes laughing coming into the room. It's like
- 30:45Speaker 1: when you're about to tell a story that you know
- 30:47Speaker 1: is so funny and you're already laughing. I'm telling you
- 30:49Speaker 1: said that he was thinking, I'm gonna be talking about
- 30:51Speaker 1: Don Mudson and these guys are gonna be like, are
- 30:53Speaker 1: you kidding me? You had like the baseball comp for me.
- 30:57Speaker 1: It was like the one song and the guitar that
- 30:59Speaker 1: he just keeps like pilling it out, playing that like
- 31:02Speaker 1: do you have to play it again? I'm gonna play
- 31:04Speaker 1: it again? I mean what if what if? Like what
- 31:06Speaker 1: if we're all wrong and our doctors have said, you
- 31:09Speaker 1: know what, he could play? That's what I said, I'll
- 31:11Speaker 1: have egg on my Mac wants to get a second
- 31:13Speaker 1: opinion to make sure that they're right because he doesn't
- 31:16Speaker 1: want to go out there and make it worse, okay,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and so I once he gets a second opinion, he
- 31:21Speaker 1: could be out there so can I just ask, Okay,
- 31:23Speaker 1: if that's the case, who do you think all the
- 31:27Speaker 1: national guys are talking to that they got such bad information?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Severe Doc Flynn Fred Who Adam Schefter is not talking
- 31:36Speaker 1: to some hack local doctors. She's pretty good. She's a hack,
- 31:40Speaker 1: she's a Patriots fan. Okay, she's always right? Who when?
- 31:46Speaker 1: She's always accurate? He's pretty good with Celtics injury. She
- 31:49Speaker 1: tells you after everybody diagnosis? What that means? Oh god, no,
- 31:55Speaker 1: you're you're confusing him with David Chow who does it?
- 31:58Speaker 1: He's another from his student, he's another one. But anyway,
- 32:01Speaker 1: if Jess is doing good stuff, just give me an example.
- 32:07Speaker 1: And I'm not telling you I know for sure, but
- 32:09Speaker 1: give me an example of who Adam Schefter could have
- 32:12Speaker 1: spoken to that said he will miss multiple games. That's
- 32:15Speaker 1: a good question, it is it is? Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:18Speaker 1: It's a good question. It could be. That's why I
- 32:20Speaker 1: don't think that we're wrong. It's a good question. Yeah,
- 32:22Speaker 1: And am I putting too much stock and Adam Chef?
- 32:25Speaker 1: Here's something with Adam like has he made mistakes before
- 32:27Speaker 1: everybody does? But I think given that he's made those mistakes,
- 32:32Speaker 1: he tries extra hard to make sure he doesn't repeat them,
- 32:35Speaker 1: you know, So like unless he was led down a
- 32:39Speaker 1: wrong path woefully by somebody who was trying to do harm.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Right he somebodily had a good sword. Somebody, either in
- 32:46Speaker 1: the Patriots organization or in Max camp, said he's going
- 32:49Speaker 1: to miss multiple games. I don't think there's any way
- 32:52Speaker 1: he said he's gonna miss multiple games based on Doc
- 32:55Speaker 1: Flint telling you I looked at that. Looks like he's
- 32:58Speaker 1: gonna miss multiple games. Somebody the inside told him, whether
- 33:01Speaker 1: it's the Patriots or Max camp, someone said he's gonna
- 33:05Speaker 1: be out multiple games. Well he's gonna play Sunday. Yeah,
- 33:09Speaker 1: they by yeah, I mean I don't know. I don't know,
- 33:14Speaker 1: Like maybe, like again, I don't know if this is
- 33:17Speaker 1: this happened, But again, what if it What if the
- 33:20Speaker 1: team doctors on the Patriots after Monday said, you know what,
- 33:25Speaker 1: it's not as bad as we thought. It was a
- 33:26Speaker 1: pain tolerance issue, and so that gets out there. Max
- 33:29Speaker 1: told that Mac tells his camp and this camp is like,
- 33:34Speaker 1: no way. So they call Schefter and tell you know,
- 33:39Speaker 1: he's gonna miss significant time, and so Schefter puts out
- 33:42Speaker 1: the tweet. Most would get surgery, when it's actually the
- 33:45Speaker 1: Patriots saying you don't need surgery. You just you'll be
- 33:48Speaker 1: out there in two weeks if you just you're all right.
- 33:51Speaker 1: So it could be any of those things. Yeah, I
- 33:53Speaker 1: think the only easy thing that I feel good about
- 33:55Speaker 1: is that whatever the diagnosis or prognosis or whatever it is,
- 33:58Speaker 1: the Patriots won him backer than later. That's the only
- 34:01Speaker 1: thing that you know, as soon as possible, they want
- 34:02Speaker 1: him back. Some people disagree. Mike Lombardi thinks he was
- 34:05Speaker 1: gonna he's on the verge of getting benched. Yeah, that
- 34:07Speaker 1: was laughable. I don't know, it's it's that's the only
- 34:13Speaker 1: thing I feel good about. I'm getting getting a popsicle
- 34:16Speaker 1: headache from the whole thing because it's so avoidable, and
- 34:18Speaker 1: you know, and we're gonna have to talk about it
- 34:20Speaker 1: tomorrow because the day by day, you know, just imagine
- 34:21Speaker 1: how Green Bay feels right now. Their coaching staff time
- 34:24Speaker 1: to put together and say, you talk about our popsicle headache. Yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 1: they must be going crazy. I think Lafleur just said, hey,
- 34:30Speaker 1: don't make any plans tonight and tomorrow. We gotta make
- 34:32Speaker 1: sure we're ready for both. There's such different quarterbacks, you know, like,
- 34:36Speaker 1: I don't know how you prepare for both right right
- 34:39Speaker 1: from a skill set there, I mean, they do a
- 34:40Speaker 1: lot of different things. They're pulling up that Howyer film
- 34:43Speaker 1: from twenty sixteen, now that we know his name is
- 34:45Speaker 1: really Axel. Oh my god, what are we gonna do? Well?
- 34:49Speaker 1: The world fell apart with that, with with that announcement
- 34:52Speaker 1: on by Matthew Slater. I mean, everybody was just lost
- 34:55Speaker 1: their minds of Brian Hoyer being actually Axel Howyer. But
- 34:59Speaker 1: oh my god, I know that. Why do I think
- 35:01Speaker 1: I knew that? I feel like I knew it? And
- 35:03Speaker 1: then okay, because it's not really that important. I like
- 35:07Speaker 1: how I have to ask Mike if I knew something?
- 35:09Speaker 1: Do we like him? Mike? Did I know? Did I
- 35:11Speaker 1: like him out of the draft? You liked him? The
- 35:14Speaker 1: New Patriots album runs and Moses starring Axel Hoyer. That's
- 35:20Speaker 1: a deep diver, even though he's talking about the Moses
- 35:23Speaker 1: too deep, like like parting theses our guy. Oh ah ah.
- 35:31Speaker 1: The trainer runs. The strength of Conditions I don't know
- 35:35Speaker 1: brings back my favorite line every year come Christmas time,
- 35:38Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, Moses cracks myself up. Every time I say it.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Good guy, how do you like your high ankle? Now, Moses,
- 35:54Speaker 1: what has become of us? Well, this is what happens
- 35:57Speaker 1: when you have no more. Like we don't do we
- 36:01Speaker 1: talk about the Packers? Like do we even bother some territories? Well,
- 36:07Speaker 1: I'd like to talk about them, but I have no
- 36:09Speaker 1: idea what to you know expect? I mean, I mean,
- 36:11Speaker 1: I think the Packers defense would look one way against
- 36:14Speaker 1: Mac Jones, like, could be totally different against Brian Hoyer.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I know, you know you can rule out Bailey z Appy.
- 36:20Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, thanks, I did when I watched him
- 36:22Speaker 1: play in the preseason. But seriously, there were people thinking
- 36:24Speaker 1: that there was one person and I look that guy
- 36:26Speaker 1: up and it's not a real person. I could I
- 36:30Speaker 1: could give us a though. I know we're been breaking
- 36:32Speaker 1: a second. But a little funny stat. I mean, I
- 36:34Speaker 1: like football outsiders. I feel like, you know, there's stats,
- 36:36Speaker 1: but I tend to not look at stats at all,
- 36:38Speaker 1: like through at least four weeks of the season, because
- 36:39Speaker 1: I just feel like they're all skewed, especially not good. Yeah,
- 36:43Speaker 1: but interesting little stat match up and these this is
- 36:45Speaker 1: not accurate, but the Patriots have the number one rushing offense,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and the Packers have the worst rushing defense. And if
- 36:52Speaker 1: you just want buy this DVOA method metric which you
- 36:54Speaker 1: know they use not accurate small sample sizes, but just
- 36:58Speaker 1: random that and be like the Packers want you to
- 37:03Speaker 1: run the ball and they shut you down. See how
- 37:06Speaker 1: much they want to shut you down trying to throw
- 37:08Speaker 1: it because you can't score doing that. Yeah, that's how
- 37:10Speaker 1: the Packers play. They're good. It's one of those weird
- 37:12Speaker 1: teams of the stats don't really back up. How how
- 37:14Speaker 1: could they? They look on tape, you know. All right,
- 37:17Speaker 1: before we go to a break, which you're gonna do,

- 49:06Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Check out this snippet from the latest
- 49:08Speaker 1: episode of Paths from the Past with Vince Wilfork. Last
- 49:11Speaker 1: year in the Hall of Fame ceremony, when Richard went in,
- 49:15Speaker 1: brush Ki was there and Bruski. There was a panel
- 49:18Speaker 1: discussion and it was Ty Warren, William mcguinnis and Richard
- 49:23Speaker 1: Seymour and Brusky goes, let me stand behind them, and
- 49:27Speaker 1: he stood behind them for a second. He goes, nobody
- 49:30Speaker 1: can see me. And he comes up in between him.
- 49:32Speaker 1: He goes, what do you think it was like playing
- 49:34Speaker 1: linebacker when these guys were here? Yes, you guys did
- 49:37Speaker 1: all the work Rabel, brush Ki, etc. They just saw you.
- 49:41Speaker 1: They cleaned up thanks to what you guys did. Yeah,
- 49:43Speaker 1: we you know. And this is two gapping? Is it fine?
- 49:49Speaker 1: I mean, here's you have to be a man to
- 49:52Speaker 1: be able to gall and if you really want to
- 49:56Speaker 1: see what type of players you have and how tough
- 49:59Speaker 1: and if you have some dogs or not make them
- 50:02Speaker 1: two gap because I mean we're talking with Randy Moss
- 50:04Speaker 1: before and I was explaining him about two gaps between
- 50:07Speaker 1: two gap and then four three pinning trade. And I said, listen, Randy,
- 50:11Speaker 1: I can put you in the nine technique, in the
- 50:13Speaker 1: one gap and you can get the job done. Who
- 50:17Speaker 1: you are right there. You can get the job done
- 50:19Speaker 1: and you don't have to touch nobody. You could just
- 50:21Speaker 1: run up the field and you just try to find
- 50:22Speaker 1: the ball. You can do that. I say, But if
- 50:24Speaker 1: I put you in the five where you got to
- 50:26Speaker 1: put hands on somebody and control two gaps, that changes.
- 50:30Speaker 1: So I say, yeah, a lot of guys get a
- 50:32Speaker 1: lot of credit and a lot of recognition of these
- 50:35Speaker 1: quarterback sacks and just running the field. I say, but
- 50:39Speaker 1: what we did, It takes a real man and do that.
- 50:42Speaker 1: And not only once. You're talking about for sixty minutes.
- 50:46Speaker 1: You're talking about for a season, and you talk about
- 50:49Speaker 1: for a career. So time and time and time and time.
- 50:54Speaker 1: We don't get no plays off. If it's a pass play,
- 50:57Speaker 1: we're rushing, we're banging the heads, run play, we're fighting doubles,
- 51:01Speaker 1: triple we button head. If you won gaping, you can
- 51:05Speaker 1: run on the air and don't have to touch a soul.
- 51:08Speaker 1: You know, if you won gaping, If if God meant missus,
- 51:11Speaker 1: dear block with you, you Scott Free, you only got
- 51:14Speaker 1: that one gap to word about. But if you're telling
- 51:16Speaker 1: me you can't run around this guy, you got to
- 51:19Speaker 1: go through him. You gotta control this. You gotta knock
- 51:22Speaker 1: him back. And you got these two gaps day in
- 51:25Speaker 1: and day out. That's defense. And that was Vince Wilfork
- 51:32Speaker 1: on the Pats from the Past podcast, U No Sacks,
- 51:36Speaker 1: No Socks. Mattie Smith and Paul Parolo sat down with him,
- 51:39Speaker 1: and you can hear that anywhere you get your podcasts,
- 51:43Speaker 1: including Patriots dot Com. So that's one of many Paths
- 51:48Speaker 1: of the Past that they've done on that podcast. I
- 51:50Speaker 1: would subscribe to it now you can catch up. I
- 51:52Speaker 1: think they've done over thirty going into Vince Wilfork. So
- 51:56Speaker 1: it's really it's really a great audio history of the team.
- 52:01Speaker 1: So check that out. The latest one Vince wolf Fork
- 52:03Speaker 1: and I hear that coming up, you guys will be
- 52:06Speaker 1: sitting down with Scott Paoli. Yes, we're trying to figure
- 52:09Speaker 1: out a time to meet with Scott, but he's agreed
- 52:11Speaker 1: to do it. So nice. Is that mostly just around
- 52:13Speaker 1: like your baseball career. You're gonna talk about your baseball careers.
- 52:16Speaker 1: I'm sure that that'll get a mention. Yes, um, tell
- 52:20Speaker 1: tell Maddie. Um, I'd be willing to fly Scott in
- 52:23Speaker 1: so you can. Guys can do it in person. Oh,
- 52:25Speaker 1: I think he'll Yeah, well we'll figure out a time.
- 52:28Speaker 1: What he's here, but he's heading to London. Uh. This
- 52:31Speaker 1: is the first London games this weekend for NFL network.
- 52:35Speaker 1: And when he gets back, we're gonna sort of talk
- 52:36Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, because I think they're veteran person, don't you,
- 52:39Speaker 1: no question? Yeah, Vince was here, yeah right, yes, yeah,
- 52:42Speaker 1: Vince was good. Yeah. Hey, anyone need tires might really soon? Well,
- 52:47Speaker 1: here you go, because Bridgestone is the official tire of
- 52:50Speaker 1: the New England Patriots and proud partner with Sullivan Tire,
- 52:54Speaker 1: New England's headquarters for quality Bridgetone tires. Visit Sullivan Tire
- 52:58Speaker 1: dot com to find a location near you. Okay, I
- 53:02Speaker 1: will so go. Uh there, slim and tie, they're all
- 53:06Speaker 1: over the place. Thank you for your recommendation. I have
- 53:08Speaker 1: one right down the street from me in Sandwich, mass
- 53:11Speaker 1: Oh beautiful. Yeah, I love the cape. So if you
- 53:15Speaker 1: need tires, you can go down to Sandwich and get them.
- 53:18Speaker 1: How are you gonna get there here? No? Tires. I mean, well,
- 53:21Speaker 1: all right, we got a lot to talk about, a
- 53:23Speaker 1: lot to listen to, because this is a listener driven show.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Eight five five five hundred is the ACE ticket out line.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Web radio at Patriots dot Com is the email address.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Let's turn to the ACE ticket outline. We'll start with
- 53:36Speaker 1: Matt in Ohio. What's up, Matt? Yeah, that's all They're
- 53:40Speaker 1: going good. Hey, So can we all start out with
- 53:45Speaker 1: saying that Bill is such a oh now, let's not
- 53:49Speaker 1: get into name calling. But it's just so unfair to
- 53:54Speaker 1: the media to have to listen to him say that.
- 53:56Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, but the media, we're all big boys,
- 54:00Speaker 1: we can handle it. It's not a yeah, I understand,
- 54:04Speaker 1: you guys are good. It's frustrating, but it's it's not
- 54:07Speaker 1: a big okay, okay, I'll I'll take back what I
- 54:11Speaker 1: said then, but it is. It is frustrating, um because
- 54:15Speaker 1: they're just trying to get answers. All he has to
- 54:17Speaker 1: say was exactly what you guys said, is you know
- 54:20Speaker 1: he's going he might miss some time. I mean he
- 54:22Speaker 1: has a high ankle sprain and then boom, it's done.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Instead of just dragging this out and making this and
- 54:28Speaker 1: making it a story because now they're going they're making
- 54:31Speaker 1: a story with Mac going to get a second opinion.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Now they think that he's going against what the team thinks.
- 54:37Speaker 1: And now I don't think that's the that's the reason here.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I just think get a second opinion too, but make
- 54:45Speaker 1: the best decisions. So I don't. I hate that it's
- 54:48Speaker 1: becoming a story, um, because I think that they could
- 54:52Speaker 1: have just ended it all on Monday when they talked
- 54:56Speaker 1: about it. But um, it just it sucks with Mac
- 54:58Speaker 1: being out. Um, I don't see the competitive advantage of
- 55:03Speaker 1: not saying that he's going to be out, because it's
- 55:05Speaker 1: not like Brian Horror is going to light him up.
- 55:07Speaker 1: If they prepare for Mac Jones right, so he'll see.
- 55:09Speaker 1: We'll see if he's out right day by day. Yeah,
- 55:14Speaker 1: but it's just too bad for Max development this year. Um.
- 55:18Speaker 1: I was really hoping to him to keep making the jump.
- 55:21Speaker 1: And it's just if Horror comes in. I just so
- 55:24Speaker 1: people think or you know, don't jump to conclusions that
- 55:29Speaker 1: Mac isn't the guy that Matt can't run the offense.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I mean, Horror's fami the league for years. I mean
- 55:34Speaker 1: you got to you gotta think logically here, and he
- 55:37Speaker 1: might be better than Mac Jones right now, but that's
- 55:40Speaker 1: not going to help us in the future. So I
- 55:42Speaker 1: just I just, you know, I hope that people don't
- 55:45Speaker 1: jump to that, and I hope that Matt comes back
- 55:48Speaker 1: healthy when he's ready and picked up where things left off.
- 55:51Speaker 1: All right, thanks Matt. You know, like we talked about yesterday.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I mean, obviously you want Mac healthy, but if you
- 55:57Speaker 1: want to look at anything positive, maybe he can't take
- 56:00Speaker 1: a breath. Just watch, you know, just kind of watch,
- 56:04Speaker 1: take a step back for a little bit, you know,
- 56:06Speaker 1: even if it's a game or two, and maybe you
- 56:09Speaker 1: know there's there's something to be gained from that too,
- 56:12Speaker 1: you know. I think so just as long as it's
- 56:14Speaker 1: not too long. I mean it's too long, it's it's
- 56:16Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I think football is a little
- 56:19Speaker 1: bit of unique sport because no matter what, you're gonna
- 56:21Speaker 1: go after the game and watch it. You know, like sometimes,
- 56:24Speaker 1: like with hockey, I felt like that was a good thing.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Sometimes you'd pull a guy for a couple of games,
- 56:27Speaker 1: which you know might only be three days. You'd get
- 56:30Speaker 1: to watch for a couple of games, and I don't know,
- 56:32Speaker 1: I just to me, it doesn't seem to have as
- 56:34Speaker 1: quite as much value in football, just because you're already
- 56:37Speaker 1: breaking down every single bit of the game from the
- 56:39Speaker 1: All twenty two you know, you know, like you get
- 56:41Speaker 1: a second view at it. It's only one game a week,
- 56:44Speaker 1: So I just I think he's gonna be about till
- 56:47Speaker 1: the BUYE. I think it's that's it. I think he
- 56:49Speaker 1: comes back after the buy that's my that's my prediction.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Jets at Jets I think would be that just seems
- 56:55Speaker 1: about the timeframe I'm going to take a stab at Okay,
- 57:00Speaker 1: I guess you read MRIs and if that and if
- 57:04Speaker 1: that happens, you don't think people will be wondering where
- 57:08Speaker 1: he is if they between now and then they continue this, Yeah,
- 57:11Speaker 1: of course, yeah no, I mean, let's I don't know
- 57:15Speaker 1: if he's going to continue this. But assuming he doesn't,
- 57:18Speaker 1: then say, yeah, you know, we decided to do X,
- 57:22Speaker 1: Y and Z and he's gonna be out if he
- 57:25Speaker 1: if he if he clarifies it, then that changes it.
- 57:28Speaker 1: But if there's no clarity, and even if this isn't
- 57:32Speaker 1: like I could see him coming Listen, I'm not this
- 57:34Speaker 1: is gonna be a mac Jones update every day. Guys,
- 57:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Well, I could see him
- 57:38Speaker 1: doing that tomorrow or Friday the next time he talks.
- 57:41Speaker 1: So but then you can't say day by day. No,
- 57:45Speaker 1: I know that, but he makes the rules. I know,
- 57:47Speaker 1: I know. But like it's like rowdy roddy piper. Just
- 57:50Speaker 1: when you thought you had all the answers, he changes
- 57:52Speaker 1: the questions. I don't think they can drag this out
- 57:56Speaker 1: like this. But you didn't think you were going to
- 57:57Speaker 1: get a rowdy, rowdy piper. I did. I don't think
- 58:00Speaker 1: there would be a leak though if they tried to, well, yeah,
- 58:03Speaker 1: then I mean then you start to wonder, but why
- 58:06Speaker 1: not just again, Like it just seems to me, if
- 58:08Speaker 1: you knew he was going to be out that long,
- 58:10Speaker 1: put him on ir go with Hoyer, do the thing
- 58:13Speaker 1: where we're rallying around this guy Max's not going to
- 58:15Speaker 1: be here. We can get rid of that distraction. I
- 58:17Speaker 1: think you can make an argument that that's better for
- 58:19Speaker 1: the interest of the team. Yeah, like you know, so
- 58:23Speaker 1: is there somebody in the locker room now? It's like Mac,
- 58:26Speaker 1: Mac could play, Mac might be able to play, if
- 58:29Speaker 1: not this week, next week, and then he doesn't play,
- 58:31Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, this guy obviously doesn't care about it.
- 58:33Speaker 1: He's not doing anything you can to get back, Like
- 58:35Speaker 1: he's coming through the locker room in like a walking
- 58:37Speaker 1: boot with crutches, and like, I think he could play
- 58:39Speaker 1: this week. So we're really doing this. It's just a
- 58:42Speaker 1: flesh wound. That's that's the guy who thinks you can play.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I don't know what I mean. He was limping pretty
- 58:47Speaker 1: like lightly. Let's go to CJ in LA. What's up? CJ? Hey,
- 58:54Speaker 1: what's up? Guys? Can you hear me? Yeah? Yeah, okay,
- 58:57Speaker 1: So yeah, I just kind of wanted to complain about
- 59:00Speaker 1: like the whole wide receiver frenzy that's been going on
- 59:03Speaker 1: since I think twenty nineteen, because it seems like ever
- 59:08Speaker 1: since we got Ap and he fell out with the team,
- 59:11Speaker 1: people have been saying about whatever quarterback, either you know,
- 59:15Speaker 1: Brady or or whomever you know, Oh, you just gotta
- 59:18Speaker 1: get them an receiver. Look at you know, Cincinnati, you
- 59:21Speaker 1: look at you know, YadA, YadA. But it feels to
- 59:24Speaker 1: me like the teams that are really competing at least
- 59:26Speaker 1: with some pensive longevity, are the ones that have some
- 59:31Speaker 1: defense going on there. And it just feels to me like,
- 59:34Speaker 1: you know, we should also take advantage of what we
- 59:36Speaker 1: have right now and having built at least you know,
- 59:40Speaker 1: for the time being, however long we have them. And
- 59:42Speaker 1: it's like, would you rather get built an elite offense
- 59:45Speaker 1: and a mediocre defense or an elite defense in the
- 59:47Speaker 1: mediocre offense? Like which one do you think he could
- 59:50Speaker 1: do more with in a given playoff game? To me,
- 59:53Speaker 1: it would be you know, the readas Browner, high Tower, etc. So,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I mean, I guess I also kind of have a
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: follow up question, how important would you say the mic
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: linebacker position is today compared to stay like oh six
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: or whatever? And do you think it's still important that
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: we try to replace Mayo High Tower versus trying to
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: go and get a big, flashy receiver who's probably going
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: to fall out with the team and ask for too
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: much money in like three or four years anyway, Right,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: So how do you guys feel about that? I just
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's tough to play defense
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and think you can win I like without an offense,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Like I think you need an offense that can score.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I think with defense it is what it is. If
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you've got guys who can make plays at the end
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: of the game, you know that that's what it comes
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: out to. These games. I'll go, they're all thirty point games,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: just as that example, right, the twenty fourteen team. Yeah,
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: and if Pete handled off to Marshawn Lynch, you get
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: up thirty one. There you go, right, So it's not
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: like and I think that defense was excellent, the two
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: thousand fourteen Patriots defense. I think it was a really
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: good defense. Offense beats defense. Sorry, that's what happened. Like
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: the league has designed that way now, right, And even
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: though it's weird right now because again three week samples,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: you don't like to use Mike and the point the
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: points are way down, the scoring is down, the passing
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: yards are down through three weeks across the board. Um,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: but we all know that's that's going to even itself out,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: and it is geared toward offense and the teams that
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: are going to be there at the end of the year,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: or the teams that not only have the better offenses
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: but have the better passing games. That's what it takes
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: to have a productive offense. So yeah, maybe Bill would
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: rather have a defense and play with that, but I don't.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I don't think that that's And plus we see in
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: a lot of those Super Bowls that defenses get worn
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: down in those games. Ye you know, like second half,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: they tend to get tired. You need some depth, you
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: need some secondary depth. I mean, I mean the Malcolm
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Butler's an extreme example in that in that Super Bowl
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: making the last play, but again it was what your
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: fourth fifth corner coming in? Like that's the kind of
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: stuff you need to be able to do, I think,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: to just make those plays. I definitely, I definitely agree
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: with what you guys are saying. Like obviously, like generally,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: offenses is what the NFL is being geared to us,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: and that's because they want to preserve the Brady versus
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Manning versus Rogers versus whomever match us because that makes
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: the money right and advertising revenue and these people as
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: celebrities and products and YadA YadA, Like that's why, Like
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: it is the way that it is now, which I
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: think is kind of disgusting. And we've honestly played a
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: part in that gearing that way. But why is it
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I'm thinking, But I'm saying, situationally, we have an elite
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: defensive mind who's worked with probably the greatest defensive player
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: ever and one of the teams and the Giants and
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: some of the teams that we have here. I'm just saying, situationally,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: we have an opportunity to just make the defense except
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: that Mac is mediocre at best, and teach him how
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: to do what Brady different years, which is avoid intentional
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: rounding by like throwing the ball. You know it's somebody's
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Those guys just still thinks Brady was just along for
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: the ride. Yeah, I wish we could teach him to
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: do what Brady did. I mean, like the greatest in
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: two thousand and one, Brady was thanks was was just
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: steering the ship. Every other Super Bowl he was instrumentally
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: a part of Oh yeah, of course. Um Evan hit
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: us back from practice. Evan, Evan Evans, all right, Evan,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: it's all on you, a lot of pressure. So how
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: did Mac look? He was not there? No, he I
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: just can't believe this. I can't believe this. He is sure.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: He is just weak and not a team player. I'm
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: gonna say it, maybe the first want to say it.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Not a team player who doesn't want it. Yes, So
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: it's a two quarterback day for the Patriots. Brian Hoyer
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: and Bailey Zappy out at practice today, only two quarterbacks
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: on the field. No Lawrence Guy either suffered that shoulder
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: injury late in the game against Baltimore. He was also missing.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Those are the two players missing from the fifty three
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: man rosters. So Jacobe Myers, Kyle Dugger, Ray Kwon McMillan,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: we're all out there for the Patriots. I would say
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: that looked like Dugger and Myers maybe a little bit
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: more participation certainly than what we saw last week, which
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: is no participation based off the reporters. They didn't have
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: red jerseys on or anything. No, no, So they were
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: out there. So that's a good sign for the Patriots.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: So if it's going to be Brian Hoyer, it seems
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: like maybe he will have his full compliment of receivers
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: at least, which would be good. Were they in pads today.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: They were not pass again today, So that's why because
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: no pa, Yeah, what's the point he creates content? Seems
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: like a pretty common theme I would say already with
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: this season is I haven't seen very many, if at all,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: fully padded practices. Now that the regular season has started,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: it's been mostly shells and nothing, you know, no leg
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: pads and stuff like that. Yeah, and um, what was
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: the mood? You know, look, I think that everybody. I'm
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: not saying everybody in terms of the players and the coaches.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: We haven't really spoken to the players too much yet.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I will speak to them later today. But look, it's
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: it's disappointing when the starting quarterback is not out there,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: whether it's you're a fan and you want to see
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: the best players play, you're covering the team and you
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: just want to cover the best players that could possibly
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: be out there. It's just not ever a great mood
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: when your starting quarterback is injured. And we're not really
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: used to it. I would say also around here, wait
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: till tomorrow, we're not We're not changed to it. Media
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: grousing anything, no, no, nothing, nothing really the going on
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: with the media. There was a little bit of confusion
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: with which clock we were on, you know, when we
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: were going to get kicked out. I like this story
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: of practice, so there is there is some tweets that
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: were maybe fired off before the gun and a lot
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: of arms waving from PR. Yeah, that's always confusing. You
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: think that we're leaving, and you know they think that
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: our time is up, so you send, you send, tweet.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: You know I found out Lawrence Guy wasn't out there
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: before they was supposed to. Yeah, I always wait to
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: be chaout. I'm always I'm always d shorts a wise
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: crouse of action now that I am not your jumping
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: the gun. But there'll never be in trouble for being
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: a little late. Yeah, exactly right. That's how I feel
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: as well. Well, I think that's bummer about Lawrence Guy.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's significant with the running backs
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: that has just kind of been like totally overshadowed to
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: no I know, And it's too bad because I actually
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: had a nice talk with him last week in the
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: locker room. We'd be buried our old I wouldn't worry
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Aboudi's day to day. That would be funny. If today
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Bill came out and like all the questions were about
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Lawrence Got, we should have them. We should have coordinated
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: gushing about the Packers running backs this morning once we
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: got off the mac Jones questions and odd to some
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: questions about that's Aaron Jones just gushing about how hard
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: these guys aren't a tackle, how many they you know,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: break so many tackles they got They've got great feel
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: for you know, they're an outside zone team. There's that
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: that word again, and they're great at finding the cutback
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: lanes and Rogers throws them to football. I mean just
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: gushing about the Packers running back. So you know that
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: this is a running game that they respect. So not
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: having Lawrence guy out there will be a pretty big
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: loss this week. Who needs to step up? I think
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: it's bar more honestly, you know on early downs gets
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: out there. Look, the Dietrich wise has played eighty two
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: percent of the snaps, which is ridiculous for the Patriots standards.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: It's been eight years. Actually looked U up this morning
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: since the player has a defensive lineman has played over
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: eighty percent of the snaps, and that was Rob Nikovic.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: So I don't know, you know the end line. Yeah,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: but Trey Flowers, you know, he was always up seventy
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: seventy five percent. Chandler Jones was seventy five percent or
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: seventy eight percent excuse me, in his last not his
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: last season, maybe it was his last season twenty and fifteen.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: I think that might be good thing he corrected that,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: because when I was going to credit him with that,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: when I go on fell great mass I would have
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: looked like not seventy five, seventy eight taken notes, So
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Dietrich wise being at eighty two percent I think is
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: really really notable. But in that game against Baltimore in
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: the second half, the adjustment, although it was too little,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: too late, the adjustment that they made was Godshaw and
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Barmore at the end spots and Carl Davis at nose
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: tackle and getting that bigger package out there to try
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: to you know, Belichick talked about it after the game.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: The c gap runs right, Those off tackle gap schemes
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: that they were running were giving them all sorts of problems,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: and once they moved Godshaw and Barmore out to that
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: five technique outside the defensive end, they were able to
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: manage it a little bit better. It was obvious, you know,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: the damage has already done at that point, but that
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: was the adjustments. That's interesting though, the usage for a
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: guy like why is playing that much um and all seriousness.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: That's significantly more than what they usually do. Oh yeah,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: it kind of speaks a little bit. I don't want
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: to use the word desperation, but they you know, they
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: took some younger They did what I wanted to do,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: so I'm not complaining about it. They took some young
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: guys that probably aren't really ready to fill roles yet,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: and as a result, you're seeing more, you know. I
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: like the fact that that Barmore is going to be
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: asked to do more. I like your answer. I think
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: he's a really good player, so I know he's probably
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: getting more attention than he did as a rookie. It's
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: probably getting some double teams I think he did as
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: a rookie as well. He's got to beat them. Yeah,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: And if you want more playing time and you want
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: to be more of a full time player, which I
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: think he should be, then you got to play better
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: against the run too. I don't think he's been terrible,
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: but we haven't. Like the first three games have not
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: been like the games that I remember from him last year. Yeah,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I mean about blue chippers on the roster. How many
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Bude chippers did the Patriots really have? And if one
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: of those blue chippers is not making a blue chip
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: impact on defense in Christian Barmore, I think the Pittsburgh
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: game was good for him. I think I locked him
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: with like five quarterback pressures, so I think he played
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: better against Pittsburgh. But the Sandwich weeks right week one
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: in Week three, we're not necessarily as impactful as Okay,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: it's far more a dugger when he's healthy. You know,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: those are the guys that they really need to play,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: like blue chip impact, high impact guys. Right now, Wise
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: is the one that's picked up the slack and really,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: which is just so weird because we had so much
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: conversation this offseason about like, guys need to progress, guys
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: need to step up. I don't think anybody thought it
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: was going to be year sixty six. Year made the jump,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: Like you're talking, well, you're too jump. We need Christian Marmore,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: mac Jones, you know, like all these guys. And for me,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: it's the ruse. I think he's been Like I always
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: thought he was periodically effective as a pass Russia, but
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I always thought teams ran at him totally. I don't.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: I haven't seen that a ton this year. Um, so
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: he's played better. But like when I was talking about,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: like like a guy like Sam Roberts makes the run,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: he's probably not gonna play. Yeah, so you want some
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: of those guys because you gotta start replacing some of
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: these players with with younger prospects. But at the same time,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: to EV's point, where else are you gonna go? He's
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: got to play eighty two percent of this thing. You
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: can't put Sam Roberts into the game, you know. I
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: think a quality being back sort of helps a little
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: bit with the rotation in there. Maybe he's kind of
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: doing that. Tetrick Wise now role is like kind of
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: guy like Barmore certainly inside, but but him too a
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: little bit. I mean, he didn't nice play on that
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: first third down where he always another guy that when
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: he's out there, he tends to show up in the
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: pass rush like he's active. Yeah, I don't know, just
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: he doesn't play a ton, but I tend to notice
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: him every game. Yeah, it seems like Dietrich Wise's recognition
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: in the run game is a lot better than what
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: we saw in years past. Look, he's he's a higher
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: cut guy, so lever just difficult for him at six
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: foot six to be the lower man. But he's been
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: able to anticipate blocks a little bit better. He had
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: that stuff against Pittsburgh where he swum the guy and
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: got right into the backfield, and then this past week
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Devin Duverney motions into the backfield and they try to
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: hand it off to Duverney and he set the edge.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: You know, those are the types of things that I
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: think having that type of recognition block id, that type
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: of stuff really helps a guy like Dietrich wise, because
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: he's not going to be naturally a low man and
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: wins type of players, So he's got to be able
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: to see it quickly and react to it quickly so
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: that he doesn't get his pads too high. That was
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: always his problem as he got it. Yeah. Well, I
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: mean this is to be a good challenge. Like you said, Evan,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: and like Bill said this morning, the Packers are running well.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: And I don't know. He might have the numbers in
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: front of you, but I think the running game is
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: more productive now than the Aaron Rodgers passing game. Oh yeah,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: they don't have any receivers, so yeah, absolutely true. Yep.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Aaron Jones zavish in almost seven years carry. Yeah, and
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: it's not like he's got a big sample set. It's
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: not like he's only getting out thirty two carries two
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: hundred and seventeen yards. Yeah. Yeah, him and Dylan, I
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: mean they're pretty balanced. You know, forty carries for Dylan
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: not not quite as productive. But obviously the size with Dylan,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: that's the big thing. I mean, he's kind of like
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: the poor man there, Derrick Henry there. Um. But yeah,
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: it's it's gonna be a challenged for those guys. Yeah. Um,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: do we have a weather early weather report for Lambeau
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Sunday twenty five? Day by day? We don't know, no
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: one some hurricane remnants. They have apps so you can
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: check the hurricane remnants. I thought I'd mentioned maybe it
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: was Tamara, but the person sitting in Eric's old seat
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: is responsible for the weather. No one ever told me this.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Non I was the weather girl. It might have been
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Tamara fre Fred, doesn't you know I remember Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Here it comes, wait for it. That's taken a while.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I'll get back to you. So that's spread. By the way,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: we talked a lot about the spread yesterday and someone
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: called in. It's up over over ten in some places now,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: so there has been significant movement in the line since.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Uh oh, although maybe it'll go back down now. Based
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: on Belichick's Prescott forty eight, Max could go forty chi. Yeah,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: I have a hive sixty two. Okay, Sunday right, you've
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: got to dress for everything, just the just the man. Wait,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: which do you read? Well, you have to go hourly?
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: I read the mom you have to go hourly stwenty five.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Mike said I had the wrong one, sixty two sixty two. Sorry,
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I thought I was reading the weather. Prescott went from
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: ten and a half to nine and a half. You
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: could because Matt could play. I think I think I
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: saw that it might have moved last night. Actually, not
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: to take away, but when I'm in the middle of
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: being a smart as you gotta let me be a
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: start ass. Don't let him do his thing, all right?
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Eight five five past five hundred is the eight stick
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: at a hot line. Let's see what Melvin in Tennessee
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: has to say. What's up Melvin going on? Hey, hey,
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: it was funny with that. Um, I guess the conversation
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: you're talking about, what Vince real quick that I was
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: just kind of thinking the same thing in progression with Balmore,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: of course, that you'd like to see. I guess during
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: the summer you started to get these ideas, obviously, like
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: the oo chase, the way I never can really get
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: into him because he's always better in the summer than
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: he is during the regular season. But you wanted to
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: see Balmore step up. You wanted to see a lot
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: of people at the front step man. They can catch
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: up the teacher wise, just so somewhold be I guess
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: they give them Shelves a shot. I would imagine a
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: low shot at that, but still I think this would
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: be like a low twenties. The team's games and then
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: who knows what can go from there. And but if
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: you don't control Aaron Jones and Dylan which I think
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: obviously the Patriots will try to use Damian Harris Stevenson.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Then if you all don't, if you can't control us,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: so you're gonna be in for a long day with
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: the Packers. They can get they don't have a lot
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: of receivers, but if you who cares if you can't
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: stop the run. So I think that'll be a key
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: to this game, clear for them to at least maybe
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: get them down in the red zone without maybe you know,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: getting some field goals and they're not allowing them as
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: money touchdowns. Yeah, because if nothing, you won't catch up
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: to them. Obviously, Okay, but that would be it. I
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: think if if they get a chance to get into
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: low chance, clearly. But if you get a chance to
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: get too into I mean, the season's vital. I think
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Paul talked about that you can't give up and throwing
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: it now, no way, no way. But I mean, regardless
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: of what happened Sunday, you can't throw in the towel
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: like it's early in the season. Still the long way
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: to go. What's this thing with you and Aldred? You
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: owe him mistake or something? It's getting cocky. No, just
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: you know, being lgent. I just call him and tis
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: them off because I enjoy it. Okay, that's we had
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: a lot of baby. Yeah, yeah, that's it all right though,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Thanks men, throwing some gas on the flames of the
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: person's arguments that are going on saying about uh, Dan's
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: in Virginia and Michigan. What's up Dan? Yeah, guys, we're
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: playing the Packers this weekend. I got a question about
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: green band general, rather than this particular matchup. A lot
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: of times I see people saying that if Aaron Rodgers
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: was with Bill Belichick, that he would have won more
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Super Bowls than Tom Brady. My thinking in regards to that, though,
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: is that I don't know that either of them would
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: have lasted with the other for the six seasons it
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: would require to win six Super Bowls. I think that
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Bill wouldn't tolerate rogers uncoachability and his freelancing and his
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: contract demands. And I don't know that Rogers could really
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: stand being coached as hard as Bill tends to coach people.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: What do you think do you think I've never heard
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: anyone say that that that marriage would have been more
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: successful than Brady. And the one guy who I think
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: is the the resident expert on that, yeah, because he's
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: a psychotic Packers fan is Felger. Yeah, and he says
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: there's absolutely no chance, yeah, that that would have worked
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: for exactly the reasons Dan just I was neither one
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: of them would have. I think Dan makes some good points.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: It's the stuff that we forget about to be consistently great.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: It's that other stuff. It's not just playing football. It's
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: the contract demands. I thought Dan, I thought explained it
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: on both sides really well. Yeah, I why it wouldn't
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: wouldn't necessarily I agree. I think Brady and Belichick were
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: the perfect match, despite how it ended up. I think
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: they were the perfect match. I also think that, like
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I mean, I think Aaron Rodgers is just an amazing athlete,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: but I also think, like Tom Brady, what makes him
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: so special was his ability to perform in the clutch
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: and as good as an athlete as Aaron Rodgers is.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you would have had the same
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: performance as like Look ten yeah no, look at Rogers
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: record trailing you know, latent games. It's it's not good,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: you know. Yeah. How about his fraudulent home field winning
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: streak right now after a record? Why is that fraudulent
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: because there's losses in between in the playoffs. Oh, it's
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: just like I'm a little old school. I like my
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: winning streaks to include only wins. I agree, I'm a
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: little old school like that, because you're playing the best teams.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Those are the you know they're counting the preseason ones too.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Preseason one's count So Dan, you think there's a chance
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: this weekend? I don't think. I don't think he said that,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: all right. I think there's a chance, Dan, I mean
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I I I always think there's a chance. Do you
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: think there's a chance you get you set up? I
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: think there's a punchers chance. You said to be Green Bay. Yeah,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: that's a plus four and turnover chance. So if you
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: want to say that, yeah, like there's always a chance
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: of teams implodes, right, right, that can happen, like you see,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: but you think, all things being even, there's no chance, no, none,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: not even a little. I think this Packer team, just
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: watching them yesterday, it reminds me so much of the
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: twenty nineteen Patriots. You're just gonna say they're not that good,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: and I would say, I agree, Yeah, well the twenty
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: nineteen Patriots didn't end up being that good either, so
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: it kind of but you know what I'm saying. You
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: know what the twenty nineteen Patriots teams did, They beat
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: teams like this. Yeah, yeah, that's definitely true. I think
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: that the Packers, look, they're schematically completely different than what
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: the Patriots have ever been with Lafleur, but their receivers
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: it's so similar right where you're just throwing like Alan
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Lazard is probably their best receiver right now. Christian Watson
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: is kind of their version of nikkil Harry, Like he's
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: the rookie that they're hoping is gonna be good but
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: obviously is just playing in his first few games as
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: of his career. They got good running backs with the
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Patriots had in nineteen as well, and that's really what
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: they're leaning on. I mean, this Packard team is not
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: a downfield passing team. He has three completions of over
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: twenty yards in three games. They're a horizontal stretch bootleg
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: lean on the running game, you know, rogers make quick
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: decisions off our pos and like little pop passes and
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: things like that, and just try to get guys loose
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: like that. That's sort of what their their offense is
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: right now. And I don't know if that offense is
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: gonna blow the doors off the Patriots. Like I don't
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: think the Patriots are gonna win this game, but I
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: don't know if that offense is necessarily good enough right
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: now where you're gonna sit back and say, oh, this
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: is a thirty five to nothing blow out. I don't
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: know if they're capable of sporting thirty five. I'm more
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: worried about the Packers defense in this game. I think
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: they've got a really good defense. Yeah yeah, I think
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: they do too. But I'm more worried about Alon Rodgers
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: because you need to like basically allow nothing to win.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Um. George and Madison, New Jersey writes in
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: I emailed with a question during training camp about the
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: QB two position. You guys ignored me, he says, as
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: my four Twitter followers will attest to, I've been saying
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: the Patriots need a QB two who can win you
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: some games. In Mac goes down the jets of Flacco
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: and Mike White both had one good game in them
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: but have otherwise been a disaster. So now Mike White
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: is a better option than Brian Hoyer. Discount over the
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: aren't these guys all the same? Like? What did you
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: think of Cooper Rush going into the season? Would you
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: think Dallas was well situated? Hoyas a great guy, knows
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: the system, but does he have the ability to win
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: the many games? Do you feel or many? Did you
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: say any? Any? Any? Yes? He has the ability to
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: win you do you feel like Bill does? These cute
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: things that they may have gotten away with during the
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: dynasty but can't get away with now, such as drafting
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: a guard in the fourth round, no legit quarterback first round, uh, etc.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Quarterback too, Fred run and tell mister Prolo that mister
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Achman Hoyer is here to see him all well, see
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: he's an old acquaintance Yes, that's not sexy. That's not sexy.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: It's my favorite thing to come out of this whole
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: actual things that we've been able to do, sums pertaining,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: pertaining or what is it regarding? I'm an old acquaintance.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: EV has no idea reading No Beverly Hills. No, we're
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: an audience of Murphy of none. Mike and I. You're
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: not going to fall off at the banana and the
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: tail pipe, thank you, Matt Matty to rant about Brian Hoyer, Yeah,
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: I just listen. If the if the question is is
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: he capable of winning many games? I would say probably
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: not No, But don't tell me you can't win a game.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: If you think Mike White and Joe Flacco can win
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: a game, you don't think Brian Horder can win a game. Now.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I don't think this will be the particular game that
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: he'll win in Lamb Boat. I didn't think they had
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: a shot with Matt Jones, Joe Jacobe Precett did it
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: without a thumb. He won a game, you know, I
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: mean you can win a game a game now. This
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: is gets back to the original like if is Matt
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: gonna be out six day, eight weeks or is he
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: going to be out a couple of games. If he's
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: out six day weeks, you're in trouble. Yeah, because I
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: could see Brian Horror going one on one or two
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: and one. I can't see him going like five and three.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Ye I just can't see it. I don't care who
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: who the schedule is. I just sooner or later he'll
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: be Brian Hoyer or and he's gonna hurt you. So
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: let me ask Evan, because he wasn't here when we
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: were kind of dissecting Bill's press conference today. Based on
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: what Bill said today, do you have any glimmer of
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: hope that Matt plays within two weeks? Yes, yes, see
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: I do. That's your point, and I don't know if
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: I would necessarily right. I thought you were saying that
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: is a point on yourself. No, no, no, no, I agree.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: I think that's what he opened the door for it today.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: And when he doesn't play for six weeks, what are
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: people are gonna do? The fans call Bill out? You
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: think they're gonna call Bill out for you? Don't think
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: they're gonna call the quarterback out for it. I look,
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I think I think the quarterback is gonna come under fire,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: not playing. I think it was on his radio hit.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: It wasn't with the media on his normal press conference,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: where he said that he's never been hurt, not high school,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: not college, He's never missed a game due to injury.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: And I think that there's going to be for him personally.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I think he does look at certain things about the
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: Brady era that he says, oh, it's the only year
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: that they didn't have Brady. Right, Durability was at the
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: top of the list of things that made Brady consistent here.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: And if I can't play, if I get hurt and
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I can't play, then that right there has already put
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: me behind the eight ball. And I think that he's
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: going to do everything that he can, including not getting surgery,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: because surgery, even though he might be better off for
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: it in the long run or have a shorter less
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: pain in a shorter period of time, he's automatically out
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: for a period of time. Right, There's no way that
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: he's going to have You have to let the surgery
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: take Yeah, and that's it. We could have this, we
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: we could have this completely flipped. This could be the
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: team is saying you're gonna have to miss some games,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: and Max I don't want to miss games. I'm getting
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: a second opinion. Maybe I don't have to. Maybe we
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: have a completely flipped and it's Mac saying I want possibility,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: and I just don't think that's what the team wants
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: him to have surgery because that's what we'll get him
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: back faster. That's my opinion, just my opinion, right, But
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: maybe it is. Maybe it's Max saying, let's not rule
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: me out until I get the second opinion. Pelisero reported
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: yesterday a NFL network that Mac is the one that
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: doesn't want the surgery, correct, at least that he said that.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: It's my understand why that's the thing. Why does he
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: want it because he wants to get he thinks he
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: can play faster. Or does he want it because he,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: you know, wants to heal? Right? You know, so like
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: what's the motive that they want to go under the knife? Right?
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: What's the motive that he's a tougher guy? And I
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: think that he does have a pretty high pain tolerance,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: which I think at times last year even we saw
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: it because he took a beating early on in that
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: season last year as a rookie, and he bounced back
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: up every single time every game is his, he'd be
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: bleeding from the chin. Yeah, I'm serious. He got smoked
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: a lot, like yeah, and I think that he feels
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: like he's a quick healer and they'll they'll give him rehab,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: they'll give him treatment, shoot it up and let's play.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Like I really think that's how he thinks. It's a
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: totally different dynamic with like a team doctor and team trainers.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Obviously it's all in house, but surgeons tend to like
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: that's what they do. They tend to say like, yes,
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: you need surgery. They didn't do that right, you know
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: what I mean. And like one of my best friends
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: went to her when to her doctor. She works in
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: a doctor's office, and was like, I don't know what's
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: going on with my foot whatever. He was like, yeah,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: it looks like we'll do We'll do bunion surgery, will
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: operate like with a snap of a finger. She got
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: a second opinion she had a fractured bone in her foot.
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: Like it's like, I don't know, I would be getting
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: like four opinions if it's me. I have no problem
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: with the opinions. I just again, my feeling is based
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: on what I've read about the history of this surgery
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: is that's what gets you back on the field faster. Right,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: what's bizarre. And I think that he doesn't want the
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: surgery because and this is why I don't blame him,
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: like I don't think this is a shot at his
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: toughness in the least. Well, what if he thinks he
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: doesn't want the surgery because he doesn't think he needs
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: the surgery? Correct, because it will heal. It might take longer,
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: but it will heal. And I don't need surgery. And
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: I can totally understand an athlete, especially who makes his
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: living with his body, not wanting an unnecessary surgery. No,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: I understand even if it means I'm going to be
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: out six games instead of four. The only thing I
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: can understand that from an athlete's perspective. You could be right,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: but it could be Also, I don't want the surgery
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: because I think I can get on the field faster. No,
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: but I'm taking that part out of it, Like, who
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: knows what's going to By all accounts, it's faster with surgery.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I'm just going by the medical opinions. By all accounts,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: it's faster with surgery. Yeah. I think what's interesting too,
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: and I was reading some things from medical experts and
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: they said, look, not every high ankle sprains the same.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: So you can't just say the tight rope surgery is
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: going to work for every procause that's not necessarily Probably
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: why he wants a second opinion, right, But I think
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: it's interesting that the tight rope surgery was discovered by
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the Alabama team physician, and to U and Jalen Hurds
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: both had the tight rope surgery while Mac was at Alabama.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: He raved him out on the record talking about how
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: quickly right back to be excited you have the tight rope.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: Probably Hates got back so fast and he couldn't play.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: You have the tight rope surgery into the wide zone.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: And because you know Fred playing the role of Paul Wow,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting that. I wasn't, but you know that
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: it seems like we're learning new terms all the time.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Now it's the tight rope that's going to be the
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: new hot phrase. Like anytime someone gets a high ankle phrase,
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: everyone's going to just talk. So I think two, I
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: might have this backwards one of the tour or Jalen
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Hurts one of them came back in fourteen days after
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: the tight rope surgery and the other one came back
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: in twenty one days. Yeah, nineteen was a day that
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: But yeah, well we're all in the same kind of
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: a time frame. YEA. Now if you're stepping away from it,
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: like what had it happened three years ago, four years ago?
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Who knows? Like what's going to be the result? Like
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: is Jalen Hurt's going to be able to play in
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: ten years? Maybe that took three years off his career.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: Like I'm not saying that's going to happen. I'm saying,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: if you're Mac Jones, I want as much information on
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: this as I can guess before I go under the
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: knife for something that I don't necessarily have to go
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: into the knife for. Again, I didn't hear my ACL.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: I have a high ankle sprain that if I don't
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: do anything, eventually we'll we'll heal. Yeah, but is it
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: okay long term either way surgery, non surgery. Is it
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: gonna be okay? Is it gonna be the same, Okay,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: that will do whatever's fast. Is this going to be
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: something I have to deal with? And again I don't.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I never would. I would never kill a player for saying,
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: especially a guy in his second year, I don't know
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: how this is going to affect me down the road.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: I think I'm just gonna play it safe. I wouldn't
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: kill him for that working okay for a chill and
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: hurts and tour right now? Well, you know, but like
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: Jimmy Garoppolo, Jimmy Garoppolo was butchered here Mike when he
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: separated his shoulder and didn't come back and play the
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: next game. They killed him. They're still in the locker room. Yeah,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: they were unhappy about it. So I would say ripped
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: out pretty good for Jimmy got the highest paid free
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: agent contract, the highest quarterback when he signed it, and
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: I think it worked out all right for him doing
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: it the way he did. Do you guys, I'll see
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: you know. Maybe I don't know why I think you
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: would know this, but a high ankle sprain ligaments between
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: the tibia and fibia tearing is correct, and any sprain
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: is a tearing of ligaments, and but it depends there
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: would be grades. Yeah, yeah, that's all I mean. Wonderful back.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: You know, I think it's a little different. Is it
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: high because it's above the ankle bone, or is that
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: why is it high as opposed to like exactly what
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: it is though, did you do some well? I think
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: what's interesting about it is on top of the fact
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: that nobody has actually said that Mac is going to
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: mix miss x amount of time, right, it's all he
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: could miss multiple weeks or people usually miss multiple weeks.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: On top of that, we don't have a grade. Yeah,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: that's my whole point. There's a lot of people that
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: have called it extremely severe, pretty pretty but in medical terms,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: and I'm not a doctor, but in medical terms like
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: pretty severe, what is that? That doesn't mean anything, right,
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: that's just that's just mumbo jumbo. Like if he has
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: a grade three high ankle sprain and that's very bad,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: that's eight to ten week in day, like, that's I am.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: If it's grade one or grade two, that's different. And
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: I think it's just really interesting the reporting, the wording
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: of the reports that are out there are so carefully worded.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: Right for no one's coming out and saying Max's gonna
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: miss three to four games. Nobody's coming out and saying
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: that Mac has a Grade three high. My opinion on
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: that is because there is a conflict as to what
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: the course should be between the team and the player.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: I don't know which side both are on. Maybe you're right,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: maybe Mac wants to get back faster and the team
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: is trying to slow him down. I don't think that's accurate,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: but it could be. And I think that's why no
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: one wants to attach it a timeline, because they don't
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: know who's gonna win. Someone's gonna end up winning. It's
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: either gonna be Mac or the team. And maybe he's
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: back in three games, maybe he's back in eight games,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: depending on who wins. I like to put that point
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: of that out though, because the phrase, what was it
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: like severe pretty severe? Like that because he has he has,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: here's severe or it's not. I don't think there's pretty.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: I just remember severe. Someone wrote severe that to me,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: you know, like that's what it sounds like to me.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: He didn't roll, he didn't roll his ankle. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: it's just I agree with the weird wording of all this,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: and they're just da Nobody says he pretty broke his leg,
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: like it's pretty broken, Like it's either broken or it's not,
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: Like isn't it? Is it severe? That's the only thing
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: everybody can agree on, is that they dodged a bullet
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: and he didn't break his ankle right, which some people
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: say bone breaks are better, but I don't know what
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: depends if there Yeah, it might have been less painful.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: Maybe you wouldn't have quite Now, never mind, let's let's
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: take a break from the mac talk and do a
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: little quick game. This is a game Who am I? Um?
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: The way it works is everyone gets You can blurt
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: out one guess at any time, but if you're wrong,
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: you're out. Uh. There's different clues, and so as I
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: get closer, it becomes more apparent who the player is. Um.
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: The first one is I'm assuming these are all Patriots,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: but I don't know. Um. First, I was a special
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: teamer who went to the same school as a former
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: quarterback for the Patriots. That's pretty vague. Um, I played
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: one game in a crucial cold clincher. Geez, crucial cold.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: I don't know. And I wore the same number as
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: Hoyer in his first time with the Patriots. This is impossible,
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Brooks Bernard. It's a puncher versus Dolphins in three. I mean, really,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: he literally played in one game. Yeah, Oh, I wasn't thinking.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: I was thinking he played once in a really cold
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: clincher once. Uh, okay, so he played this one, maybe
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: check the answer before he played? Did he play in
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: the snow? The snow like the snow Fireworks game? He
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: punted in that game? I think was that a clinching
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: game or something? I don't know. Yeah, all right, at
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: least I know who the person is in this next one.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: But I went to school, well five, I went to
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: a school five hour time difference. Okay, so he went
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: Adrian Clem Yes, Hawaii? Why, I mean right, he had
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: to go to Hawaii? Right? Right? Did he go to Germany?
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: He's the only one, last one. I used to play
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: with the Lions. It's this is a Patriot. I had
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: a dark visor like Lt. Mike Compton LD because it's
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: a d l oh Lawrence Taylor is he talking about
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: they're talking about with Dandy and Tom Winson? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: tell um. And I'm a two time champion, I said
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Mike Compton. Mike Compton. Oh I didn't hear you straight out?
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: I said Mike Compton straight out of Compton. Okays, the
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: only one I remember. Yeah, Neil, I give you a
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: C on that game. Deep dis Wow, that's a little hard. Yeah.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: See I give him. I don't we don't want we
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: don't want softballs here, No, we want better games made
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: the effort. I thought that was good. The Lt. Thing
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: Brooks Bernard that was that was a tough one. Yeah,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: I feel like my generation here, Lt. Ladanian Tomlinson right
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: in the head. I was thinking Ladanian Tomlinson. I absolutely
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: was one of the kids. There you go, it's like
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: one of my generations. I don't like how you sass
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: me all the time. I'm a little tired of it.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie. I'm sorry. Why don't you when
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: your boys up in your little bullpen over there all
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: by yourselves? Now, oh, the old man's downstairs. We don't
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: got worried about him. No more machines working again though?
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: Oh is it fixed it this morning? Why does it
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: always break? And you can't blame me anymore? I haven't
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: even used it. Well, I thought it was in depression
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: because Paul laughed. It was like no one comes every morning.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: I had supposed to be used constantly. Yeah, I don't
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: think they're supposed to be used the way that they're
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: used here. What do you mean I saw somebody? What
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: are we doing it? Yeah? But aren't you supposed to
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: put them in like commerce, they're in commercial Russon people.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: I don't think a commercial restaurant would get the amount
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: of used to kids here. Really, yeah, I'm down to
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: one diet pepsi day. Good for you. It's projecting because
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: like he has a chair and about Starbucks one a
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: day a restaurant A how many people go in a
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: restaurant and on a day? Please be kind? I don't
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: know the two hundred on the kind of restaurant that
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: has like a five guys five l or something. Yeah,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: nobody goes to frend Wreckers five guys fund wreckers. I
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: would go to fund Wreckers every day if it was
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: one closer. And I love eating out. You have a
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: drop for me for all occasions. I say a lot
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: of stupid stuff. I just might think, is why do
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: we have to have a five hundred soda option? Like
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: could we just get a basic seven or six? You know,
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: the standard, you know, put it up instead of the
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: computer one is better flavors? Why? I just tell you
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: like the ones that you quality of the pepsi, well,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: not just the quality of the pepsi, but the fruit flies.
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: Oh there are problems. I just don't want to say
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: why it breaks so much. They're supposed to industrials. It
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: shouldn't break every week every week. And you can't blame
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: me because I haven't used it in weeks. Okay, just one.
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: Do you think at this point they would have replaced them? Yeah,
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: I think they bring it in. I think the guys
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: just like to come into the Gillette Stadium. Oh they might,
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: they might meet a player. I will really say too, though,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: Fred the vending machine up there with the food that
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: think gets cleaned out. It does like people are hungry. Yeah,
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: up of noodles is my point. I think that stuff
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: gets a lot of use. Yeah. I don't think the
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: machine at five guys gets that amount of use for me.
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: Rog and Saint Louis first thing, penalties, turnovers and these
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: mistakes that have played us for the first three games
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: often stem from poor coaching. If this year continues on
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: the current trajectory, I will be expecting a mutual parting
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: of ways between the coach and owner in February. Be
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: like the Bears or Vikings in cleanhouse and make the
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: front office and heads of the team younger and more innovative.
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: The league has passed his coach by and the longer
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: he stays on, the further behind the team will be
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: when he retires. There's no point in sentimentality with these decisions.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: Paul anyway thinks he sucks without Brady. I would say
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: I would save that email for when he rips off
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: fifteen in a row, when you know, we see how
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: he feeled about that. Yeah, I hope are you gonna
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: get you see? But that's not my that's not my
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: answer if I think that, if I thought anything in
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: that email was true, I would be making a move. Yeah,
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: and I look for someone else. But I am a
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: big Uh, I'm a big believer in the whole. Like
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: if you don't get penalties, you're a good coach. Like
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: I think Bill's a great coach because he has an
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: ability to put together a game plan and do x's
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: and knows better than anybody else. That's why I think
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: he's great. I think all coaches preach to their players
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: about discipline, ball security, Uh, you know, not not committing
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: penalties when you commit penalties, Like do you? I mean,
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: does anybody think that Bill's not going over that stuff anymore?
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: Because they're they're making mistakes. I pulled this up because
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: this this bothers me, the penalties thing. It bugs me
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: because it's coming around my side, because this is one
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: of them that I actually believe this one. Are one
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: of the least penalized teams in the league, one of
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: the least penalized teams in the league. And all the
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: time we hear from fans, from callers, from other people
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: in our world, too many penalties, too many penalties, too
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: many penalties. Routinely one of the least penalized teams. And
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: I would say that the discipline with penalties, it's not
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: even that, it's not even the timing. All teams get penalties.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: The Patriots aren't good enough to overcome. It's not it's
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: that's simple. But it's not just that. All teams get penalties,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: pass interference, holding, they get pre snap penalty, after pre
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: snap penalty, after pre snap penalty. Not a lot of them.
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: They don't get a lot of them. I think they
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: had I think they had like two. I think they
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: had two penalties the other day, right, they were both pressures.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: They have six because they're not good enough to overcome
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: the six pre snap penalties in three games. Okay, I
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: also count delay a game as a pre snap penalty
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: in too many men on the field as a pre snap.
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: They have more than six of those. I'm just telling
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: you because I keep tracking them every week, so I think.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: And we've also used four timeouts to avoid delay a
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: game already in three games. That's fair. I think that's
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: also a pre snap penalty. Is exactly it though. It's
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: that once they get behind the sticks on offense, once
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: they're in first and twenty, the drive is over. But
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: not for all teams. I say, a win for us,
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: but Isaiah Win, it doesn't matter. I don't care what
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: happens after the penalty. The Patriots might have fewer of them,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: but they're mindless penalties, like not lined up on the
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: line is a dumb penalty by Isaiah Win the other day.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: And what we do around here is we excuse it
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: and say it was a bad call. That's what we do.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: I don't say the who says that, Mike Greece. So
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: the Patriots have the fourth fewest penalties in the league
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: right now, they've had thirty. They were extremely low penalized
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: last year. The Ravens are number one at eight. Another good,
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: well coached team right with Harbaugh. But I understand that
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: it feels like these penalties are backbreakers, but I really
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: think it goes back to Fred's point, which is a
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: second that this offense gets behind schedule when it gets
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: a negative play, it gets a penalty that pushes it back.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: That's it. I think that's that's one true I think.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: But I can understand that sometimes you're gonna get beat.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: You got to hold a guy to prevent your quarterback
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: from getting killed. I just can't live with false starts
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: and jumping off side on fourth and one in twelve
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: men on the field, which you've had at least two
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: of in three games. Like you should see twelve men
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: on the field like once a year. They get it
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: like eight times a year. Yeah, that's been a problem
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: for a couple of years. But yes, first should not be.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: But it's not a lot, Like they don't have like
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: fifteen penalty. Don't think like the nineteen seventies Raiders getting
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: fifteen penalties a game. But when you only get prestap
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: penalties three or four of them is a lot, right,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: I mean half of their prestap penalties according to this site,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: at least are half of their penalties or pre snap
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: penalties that's my point, right, and I think but the
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: fact that first and fifteen is he might as well
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: as trot Jake Bailey out there. Now, that is an issue.
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: Forget the fact that they can't overcome the guy, that
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: they can't overcome any negative play like anything that puts
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: their offense behind schedule or behind the sticks is an issue.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: And I think that's that's so preventable. But my larger
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: point with it is not just that it happens, because
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: it does happen. But I don't think that Bill spends
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: any less time drilling his team. I watched training camp.
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: Every year. I see situation after situation after situation. The
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: preparation is the same as it was every other year
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: I've been out there. We're gonna go over the free kick.
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: We're gonna go over rushing the field goal team onto
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: the field with its clock running. We're gonna do it
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: while we run up to the line and spike it,
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: or the field goal team runs on the field. We're
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: gonna do it with the time out without a time
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: I've seen them do every one of these scenarios a
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: mindless amount of times over the twenty plus years. He
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: does it the same way every time. They're not all
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: of a sudden polly coached, right, They're still exceptionally well coached.
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: Like Dan Campbell doesn't tell us, guys, go out and
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: jump offside, right, go out and see if he can
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: fumble today? You know what, you don't do enough. I'm
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: on ross A Brown. You catch a lot of passes,
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: but you don't have any fumbles. Why don't you see
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: if you can lose one? So I want to guess,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: and who is the most penalized team through three games?
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: Because if we could make this about coaching, it's not
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: the Lions, but it is no no who everybody thinks
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: it's probably the worst coach head coach in the league, right,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: and it's not Dan Campbell. It's not Dan Campbell. That
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: would have been my pick San Diego, No, no, oh, Denver, Oh,
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Nathaniel Hackett, Yeah he's uh yeah. They had a million
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: false starts in Seattle first game of the year, and
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: they've had a number of delayed games too. I think
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: you're right, Paul, like like the message hasn't changed, but
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: like the penalties I feel like have changed, you know,
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: like these mental mistakes are continuing to pop up. No,
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: I know, but like, let's not say that they're polly coached.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: As a result, their players aren't as good as used
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: to be. I mean, I mean, I I that's really
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: with you on that point too, But I also, I
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: mean I think I'm pushing more to the side of
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: like is the message still resonating. Are these guys still
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: getting on the same page maybe, like like it doesn't
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: take a talented player to not jump off to I know,
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: but like some guys don't have the discipline that that
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: it takes, just like the ball security, I don't know,
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: like how much discipline does it even take though, Like
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: it's just an ounce of self awareness. Isaiah win secure
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: point is interesting too because his tape on like a
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: block to block basis is actually pretty solid through three games,
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: but he's got like six penalties and half of them
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: are more are pre snap false starts. I think it's right,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: and it's just when you actually break down the technique
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: and if is he gett into his landmarks and is
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: he actually making the blocks? Are asking him to make
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: more times than that he is. But I guys, I
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: see what you guys are saying, and I I mean,
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I get it, And Alex, You're right like it shouldn't take,
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: you know, the most disciplined play to say I can't
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: fumble to But you do wonder just the snaps on too.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: I mean, how about how about your look at last year?
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: We had two glaring examples that I railed against all year.
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: You know. Romander Stevenson fumbled in the opener. We didn't
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: see him for like a month. And JJ Taylor fumbled
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: against Tampa. We didn't see him again still, and now
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: Nelson Agle was allowed to fumble twice in two in
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: three weeks, you know, and there was no repercussion in
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: between there. Ken Kendrick Bourn fumbled. Is that the reason
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: why he doesn't play? I don't know. I don't think so.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: And to your point, how many times in training camp
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: have we seen them do ball security drills? Every single
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: player that touches the football goes through ball security drills
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: and there's guys whacking him with those those pads, or
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: they ripped down on the ball they're trying to put
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: times we've seen Bill take out the hose to train
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: him for rainy, rainy games. Right, put that away, Thank
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: you for that clarific. I think it's I think it's
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: a perception thing. Yeah, half their penalty is a priest
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: app but that number is low. It's low. It's low,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: and I'm not I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: It's comparable to probably most other teams, or maybe even
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: not as bad. So but to me, it's just I'm
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: gonna get back to the state I've always, like Evan said,
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: when they get behind schedule, when they get behind the sticks,
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: they can't overcome it because they become easy to defend.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: I'll go back to that, but i they're easy to
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: defend because they're players. But that's I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: die on that hill with you, Fred, But they weren't
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: easy to defend against Baltimore. Eight explosive plays, four hundred
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: yards of offense. I mean, they moved the ball, they
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: had it, they had it. They had a really solid
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: offensive day to that, and accept a mistake killed their momentum.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: It's fumbles, Nelson Aglor fumbling and that spot is just
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: an absolute killer. Yeah, you know, and it just it
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: shocks me because I remember last year Kendrith Bourne was
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: talking about how Belichick changed the way he carries the
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: football and that was a big reason why he became
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: a really good Yeah, he credited him with breaking the touchdown. Yes, yes, yeah,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: I mean I could give you about twelve examples of this.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: So so Kendrick Bourne last years is saying. I'm not
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: saying Kendrick Bourne is going back on that or anything,
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: but he said last year that Belichick changed the way
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: he carries the football on the open field, made him
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: more aware, made him a better ball security receiver, and
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: he was one of the best yack receivers in the
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: league last year statistically. And Kendrick Bourne's getting the same
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: coaching that Nelson Aglore is getting right, And ye, they
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: both fumbled on something. Yeah, it just the fumbles. I mean,
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: that play is one of the better throws I've seen
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Mac make to the middle of the field in a while. Yes, yeah,
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: it hits some mentor ride over two defenders, an absolute dart.
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: It goes for a big play and he fumbles at
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: the end of the run. And it's just it's a killer.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: You can't have those types of mistakes and beating. Just
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: throw my hands up him. Let's go, Paul, We're going
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: to do the post game show. This is over. That
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: was was it on that one. It was on the
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: last pick, on the last pick when. But the penalties thing,
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: And I'm not blaming fans for not being able to
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: watch all thirty two teams, but I think that that
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: really is what it comes back to, is that Patriots
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: fans watch the Patriots, right, and maybe they watch the
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: other team they're playing. And I'm with Patriots fans on
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: that that's the only team I care about. I don't
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: care what how many penalties the other teams are getting.
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: That's why you have to look at the statistics and say, Okay,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: are they actually getting a lot of penalties or are
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: these just situational, timely penalties that stand out in our
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: heads that we are aware, hyper aware of because we're
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: so focused on watching the PA because every play, every
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: play is precious. But I'm just I'm used to seeing
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: I'm used to seeing the other team lining up to
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: kick like a forty eight yard field goal and that
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: cheesy high school hardcount. We're gonna slam down on the
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: defensive line. Everybody's gonna violently shift to the left to
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: try to get the field goal team to so he
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: makes it a fifty three yard field goal. And it
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: worked every time. Now, it works against us. Now we
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: do those things. I don't care how many times. I
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: don't care if we do it less than the other teams.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: We do it. We never used to. We never used
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: to fall for the banana and the tailpipe. Now Carl
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: Davis jumps offside on an art account on fourth and
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: one in the first series of the season, like that
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: never used to happen. Next week, Um, yeah, we had
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: another one the next week. We should have given him,
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: but Pittsburgh didn't snap the ball. I remember that now,
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: was that Carl Davis again might have been Wow, let's
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: go to Eric in New Jersey? What's up Eric? Hey?
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: For though? I had a question? So let's let the
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: defense here, Um, Barnmore here. I'm not gonna I'm not
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: gonna bury the guy out here trying to chase from
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: More around. But what are we going to see that
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: that breakout game from him that you know, I think
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: that we've been waiting to see. And you know, as
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: far as the linebackers, you know, Matt Wilson, Ray Kuaming
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Mill and they just don't seem to be answering the
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: bell here. I know it's still early, um, but you know,
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: we have no answer moving forward, and I think this
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: youth movement that we had, I mean looking you know,
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: scanning through the pieces on defense, like who do we
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: have here to build? I know Bentley has his role here,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: but I mean just looking this to early just seems
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: the blues that we have here, what do you guys
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: take on that? Yeah, so you know Barmore and then
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: the linebackers. You know, I don't know about Barmore. To me,
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: he's got to get out there more. He's he can't
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: be just a pass down lineman. You know, That's not
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: why we got him in the second round, um and
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: why I think some people think he was higher talent
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: than that. So I don't know it. Probably there's stuff
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: going on in practice where he's not earning to be
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: out there on four downs, but or at least three downs.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: But well, you know, I don't know, Yeah, you know.
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: And then the linebackers, I'm not I mean, I'm still
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: I'm still giving them a chance. I mean, ray Le
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: McMillan is the whole year within ACL. He played two
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: games and then he broke his thumb and apparently you
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: know he's back out there now. And mac Wilson I
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: said yesterday, I felt like he was in a under
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: against that offense exactly what I was. And I think,
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: you know, and I think it's unique though, like it's
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: like I could get it, Like it wasn't what we wanted.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: Everybody wants a mobile linebacker to deal with Lamar Jackson,
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: but they got him like just like they get most people.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: So I'm not like totally out on those guys yet,
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: but I hear what. Yeah, Pittsburgh, we were lauding mac Wilson.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: We were saying he had a great game, right, he
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: had a great play. Okay, but that tends to like,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: you know, he started, he started, but if he started,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: and that's my point. But it wasn't a problem. If
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: you make a flash play, that's all it takes around
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: here to get like he's gonna play. You know, I
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: just got about the other fifty plays. I mean, you know,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: and the lack of Dugger certainly was an issue. But
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: you know, I just I wonder if they're going to
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: continue going forward in the future years to keep trying
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: to play strong safeties as linebackers and you know, if this,
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: like I wonder if they were gonna do it this year,
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: And it seems like what they Their response was was, yeah,
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: kind of, we're gonna put Bentley and to buy on
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: the edges a little bit and not play them off
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: the ball as much as we'd had before, and listened
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: to that in that game that hurt. I think, you know,
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: do I think they would have shut him down? No,
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: but I think he's the right guy. I think he's yeah,
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: And that's what you needed against the you know, physical team,
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: you know. And I thought that maybe Wilson's experience because
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: I think he had to have played no, that's always said, right,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: you know, from Cleveland. He had to have seen that,
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: Like he didn't look like he's what what he got
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: into on Sunday was ball watching essentially, right he was.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: I think with the Patriots taken defensively, we hear it
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: so many times, do your job, And I know that
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: that gets cliche and everything like that, but against a
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: team like the Ravens and Lamar, you really actually need
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: to just do your job because if you're constantly just
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: trying to read the mesh point and follow where the
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: ball is going, then you're gonna look lost. And if
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: you just know, okay, like my role in the fit
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: is the play side b gap, like that's my that's
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: my run fit on this play, and he just play
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: the B gap and you don't get caught up with
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: all the window dressing and stuff like that. He got
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: up in it. That's how you have success against an
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: option offense. Like that's how you have success against Lamar.
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: And I think on Sunday, way too many guys were
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: trying to just read out every single play at the
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: mesh point and then trying to figure out where the
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: ball was going. And there's a reason. On top of
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: him just being super athletic, Lamar is really good at
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: hiding the football at the mesh point and making you
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: jump one way or another and out of your gap.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: And that happened a lot on Sunday. Yeah, Bentley too,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: I felt like he was in that that mix Peppers somewhat.
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: I felt like, yeah, I undersized and they ran over
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: him with it. They just continue to do that right
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: And and that's another thing about this safety is playing
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: in the box. And I think a big reason why
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: they missed Kyle Duggar two is he's got a little
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: bit more size and play strength, I would say than
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: Jabriel Peppers. But some of the bigger runs that they
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: had on the design runs. Were those gap runs where
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: they're folding the offensive the defensive line and they're going
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: guard to safety. Yeah, right, so that they're running a
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: weak side coming Jabriel Peppers is trying to take on
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: a guard in the hole. I mean, that's not a
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: matchup you're gonna win if you Okay, thank you? Uh
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: one more quick email one and Stratford, Connecticut. Um, he says,
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: if you're in that area in August, making an effort
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: to stop at Solernos for plumb tomato pie tomato, it's
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: scamarza cheese, all right. Anyway. Two questions. One, are we
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: concerned that Barmore's play style is being changed forcibly and
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: he's not being used for his strengths. I'll defer to
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: you on this one. I think I'll like. I think
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: we're getting to the point honestly, and I look, I
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: get it the team has struggled since the last year
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: at a point, but like not everything that Bill Belichick
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: does is wrong, And I feel like we're constantly in
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: this mind now where every single player's development they're ruining somehow,
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: Like Christian Barmore is not being used correctly. This guy's
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: not like playing that guy's you know, in the wrong
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: offense or whatever. It's like always like that. But I
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: do think that the first three weeks of the season,
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: I wouldn't say that too is necessarily the most mobile guy,
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: but they do a lot of moving pockets, right, They
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: boot leg and they move the pocket a lot. So
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: that's one week where gap discipline and rush lane integrity
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: and all that kind of stuff is important. Trubisky is
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: definitely a guy that can run around a little bit,
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: and probably was the only way that they were going
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: to lose to him is if they let him run
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: around like crazy. And then obviously Lamar so these first
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: three weeks, and maybe this is also partially just where
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: the league is going, is that they play a lot
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: of athletes at the quarterback position now, and especially in
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: the division. You have two offenses that are going to
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: move the pocket. You have Josh Allen like it's going
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: to be more of that. You got Aaron Rodgers who
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: can move, yeah, Jerry Goff they like to use the
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: same kind of way with those short boots and you know,
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: get them out, you know, justin fields. Obviously they don't
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: they don't want him throw when they want him running
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: they're not letting them throw, so you're going to see
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: a lot more of that kind of style. Number Two,
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: considering how many note calls that were in the Patriots
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Ravens games, do you think the on Mac was egregious
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: and ill intentioned? I know what D Lineman's got to
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: do his job, but it seemed like the ball was
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: long gone as Calais seemed to be leveraging like a
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: Middle Ages battling catapult. Oh, I don't know. I don't
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: know about that one. I got that an good question
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: the mail bag too. I didn't. I mean, it just
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: kind of felt like he fell on him and I
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: don't know, could he have taken more effort to not
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: I have a controversial take on this. I could say
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: if it was every Patriots fans would be screaming right now,
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: and I don't hear any screaming. I have a controversial
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: take on it. I think the league's rules caused this
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: injury because you're not allowed to land on the guy.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: I think Calais Campbell intentionally moved all of his weight
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: to the left, so as he landed on the ground,
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: you watch him land. He does not land anywhere on
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: Mac Jones. He lands on the ground, but the foot
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: is pinned underneath him, and I think he made such
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: an effort not to land on mac Jones that he
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: ended up hurting mac Jones. Now the late part of that,
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: you could tell me that maybe it was late. I mean,
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: I'm watching it in super slow motion. Every time I
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: see it now in motion. When it's super slow motion,
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: it looks late. But live, I didn't. I didn't think
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: anything of it. I try not to watch plays like
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: that multiple times. But in all seriousness, he lands directly
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: next to mac Jones, and I think he did that
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: because he knows if I land on him, I'm going
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: to get one of those burping calls. You can't burp them.
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: And I think that's one of the dumbest rules they
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: put in, like you can not allow to tackle a
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: guy in a certain way. Come well, like what are
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: you supposed to do? All right? I think I think
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: they caused an injury. That's going to be it for
