- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Yukon Hockey Coaches Show, and I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: Bob Joyce with head coach By Kavanaugh. As we talk
- 0:05Speaker 1: to Yukon Hockey. One thing we need to get talked
- 0:08Speaker 1: about is, well, let me turn that out because people
- 0:10Speaker 1: want to hear us. Is Tatee Thompson, one of your
- 0:13Speaker 1: all time great players at Yukon on the Olympic team.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Good for him.
- 0:18Speaker 1: He had a great World championship in the spring, scored
- 0:20Speaker 1: the game winning goal that gave the US their first
- 0:22Speaker 1: World championship in forever. And now he's on the Olympic
- 0:25Speaker 1: team and they deserve it on.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Her for that young man.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so happy for him. Texted with him yesterday. He's,
- 0:33Speaker 3: you know, thrilled to be on the team and we
- 0:35Speaker 3: are as well. They have you know, they have a
- 0:39Speaker 3: monument on campus for all former Olympians and it'll be
- 0:43Speaker 3: nice to have a hockey guy on there now.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the first number seventy two. He'll be there
- 0:47Speaker 1: when the US gets underway. Here, I look at this
- 0:51Speaker 1: this management group here, a lot of New England ties
- 0:54Speaker 1: and a lot of Connecticut guys. Between the Chris Drewery,
- 0:58Speaker 1: a couple of the trainers and equipment member.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Is it from Connecticut. It's it's a tight group.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I know a lot of be you guys. I know
- 1:05Speaker 1: that's one thing that you noticed right away. But Sully
- 1:09Speaker 1: has got a good is u is John Cooper coaching
- 1:11Speaker 1: the Canadians.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I believe so I believe that that would make sense.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Billy Garian's a Springfield guys, so he's not.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Far Yep, No, he's uh, he's geez. I told you this.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I broadcasted his games when he was playing for the
- 1:24Speaker 1: Picks with with Gary Deneen. I mean, uh, that's years ago,
- 1:28Speaker 1: and now he's a GM and Drewry.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean I remember him playing for a Little League
- 1:32Speaker 2: World Series in Trouble. For sure.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You had a the folks from spitt and Chicklets came
- 1:39Speaker 1: and did a wonderful video. I mean it's like a
- 1:42Speaker 1: half an hour infomercial basically on your facility and your program,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and I thought it was really well done. Joey Muldowney
- 1:51Speaker 1: was his was the escort of this. He ended up
- 1:53Speaker 1: in the cold tub at the end. I saw that
- 1:55Speaker 1: jumping in with.
- 1:56Speaker 4: His clothes and then like jumping in, well it.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Was a small jump. It wasn't. It wasn't a cannonball.
- 2:03Speaker 4: But it's only two and a half feet deep. So
- 2:05Speaker 4: is that Oh.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Okay, yeah that could that could mess you up if
- 2:08Speaker 1: you do if you if you land wrong, yeah out
- 2:10Speaker 1: because of the jump in the cold tub differently, but
- 2:15Speaker 1: for those who haven't seen the interior stuff, it's first class.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You guys really did a great job. And I know,
- 2:21Speaker 2: remember we're.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Talking about that. That's a big selling point for recruits too.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I mean, it certainly helps.
- 2:27Speaker 4: No question about it. I've said all along.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I think that for our players that the two best
- 2:34Speaker 3: things about Toscano are one, our players have a facility
- 2:39Speaker 3: that they can really develop and they have all the
- 2:42Speaker 3: resources they need to become the very best hockey player
- 2:45Speaker 3: they want to become. And you know, the Fredus was
- 2:49Speaker 3: we were very close to winning a championship out of
- 2:51Speaker 3: the Freightus.
- 2:52Speaker 4: It was.
- 2:53Speaker 3: But the thing about it was our players just didn't
- 2:56Speaker 3: hang out there. There wasn't much to do with the Fredus.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It was just come on them in for practice and
- 3:00Speaker 3: then leave where Tuscano there. Come in, they'll hang around.
- 3:06Speaker 3: They can work on their shot down in the shooting room,
- 3:08Speaker 3: they can the weight room is terrific, the hydrotherapy. There's
- 3:12Speaker 3: just so many things where they can become better. And
- 3:16Speaker 3: then the second thing is our student body is can
- 3:19Speaker 3: walk across the street now and watch us play, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: that's I think really important.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You know, I was intrigued too by all the latest
- 3:28Speaker 1: and newest technology, not only for Moe's weight room, but
- 3:33Speaker 1: also what is it the the sharpening of the skates.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Yeah too, and the equipps all changed.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean it's amazing how the technology has
- 3:43Speaker 1: change just from Mo from a conditioning standpoint over the
- 3:45Speaker 1: last even five years.
- 3:46Speaker 4: No question about it.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And uh, you know, we're so fortunate to have her.
- 3:50Speaker 3: She does such a great job with our team and
- 3:53Speaker 3: she has utmost respect, I know that from all our players.
- 3:58Speaker 2: What's it like to deal with Mo?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I mean she she seems to have been really dialed
- 4:03Speaker 1: in with your hockey team.
- 4:05Speaker 2: What's this year for year?
- 4:06Speaker 4: What? Well?
- 4:07Speaker 2: I think she's been here the whole time, the whole
- 4:08Speaker 2: time since you've been here.
- 4:09Speaker 4: She's I've been.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Fortunate, you know, between her and Ed Blair, our trainer,
- 4:14Speaker 3: and Chris Aya Campo or equipment manager, they've been with
- 4:17Speaker 3: them the whole time. So and you have that type
- 4:19Speaker 3: of continuity. It makes things a lot easier. And you
- 4:21Speaker 3: throw Tyler in there too, Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Exactly exactly. Tyler has been with me the whole time
- 4:26Speaker 4: as well.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So it's almost, well not quite forty years, but kind
- 4:28Speaker 1: of the same thing with Gino and CD.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Yeah. I'm not at forty and I don't think I
- 4:34Speaker 4: ever will be.
- 4:35Speaker 2: But he's a life.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Let's try to get to fourteen.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's a lifer.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Here.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Before we take the break and get to our player interviews,
- 4:43Speaker 1: a few thoughts on your next opponent. I mean, Dylan
- 4:46Speaker 1: Bentley had a hat trick against you at Hartford. I
- 4:48Speaker 1: remember that vividly, but you won the game Hockey East
- 4:51Speaker 1: Player of the Week. Is this your typical norm basing
- 4:54Speaker 1: group that you're going to have a low scoring, tough, physical,
- 4:57Speaker 1: tight checking game against them this weekend in two games.
- 4:59Speaker 3: You know, I I haven't watched the tape on them
- 5:01Speaker 3: just yet. I'm going to do that actually tonight when
- 5:04Speaker 3: I get home, but I would imagine that, you know,
- 5:08Speaker 3: they're going to be very tight checking. They're always good
- 5:11Speaker 3: in their own zone. They're pretty good special teams. They're
- 5:16Speaker 3: you know, always strong special teams. They don't give you
- 5:19Speaker 3: a whole lot in the neutral zone, so you're going
- 5:21Speaker 3: to have to get pucks deep and go for check
- 5:24Speaker 3: and get it back. So it's always a tough, hard
- 5:27Speaker 3: nosed checking game when you play Lowell.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Game one is in Hartford on Friday night, seven o'clock,
- 5:34Speaker 1: and then what I hear six six Saturday song, et cetera.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we will not have that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: We'll have both games of the Vermont series next weekend
- 5:40Speaker 1: and then thankfully we'll be home for Connecticut Ice, so
- 5:43Speaker 1: we get to get both of those games. You know this,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I think the first time that you're playing the late
- 5:48Speaker 1: game in Connecticut Ice.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I think so a few weeks down the road.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I know you're not really worried about that yet, but yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 1: that'll be your first first and six years.
- 5:55Speaker 2: All right, we'll come back as.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Long as we're playing the late game the second night. Agreed.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I'm all for that. All for that, all right? Coming
- 6:00Speaker 1: up next, we have our two player interviews. Carlin Dezayne
- 6:03Speaker 1: will lead things off. He's from Calgary, Alberta. Thanks for
- 6:06Speaker 1: joining us on this Monday night. It's the Yukon Hockey
- 6:08Speaker 1: Coaches Show on Learfield.
- 6:09Speaker 2: We're back in a minute,
