- 0:03Speaker 1: This is a podcast called twenty five tucking Basketball and
- 0:08Speaker 1: they all wear a whist so, yeah, it's too bad,
- 0:11Speaker 1: but what did you expect. It's a podcast called twenty
- 0:15Speaker 1: five whistles. Welcome. A lot of build up for that,
- 0:26Speaker 1: A lot of build up, yeah, presented by Draft King
- 0:29Speaker 1: sports Book, an official sports betting partner of the NFL.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Download the Draft King zapp used to code Bobby sports
- 0:34Speaker 1: to get in on the action. What's up, everybody, what's up?
- 0:38Speaker 1: What's going on? We're good? Hey, So I don't want
- 0:40Speaker 1: to forget to talk about this survivor pool that I'm in.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Don't let me forget before we leave. Okay, I'll write
- 0:46Speaker 1: it down, because I've put it on a note three
- 0:49Speaker 1: times in a row and then end up writing all
- 0:50Speaker 1: over my notes with other notes, other better notes. And
- 0:52Speaker 1: we've done this for an hour and I'm like, well
- 0:54Speaker 1: it's too late, but I got it. If it's my
- 0:57Speaker 1: goodbye note, I will do it. But I need to
- 1:00Speaker 1: remember to do that. Okay, welcome to the show. We're
- 1:03Speaker 1: all here, Eddie, is he you want to blow the whistle?
- 1:05Speaker 1: I got you, Bud, I choke and start now. That
- 1:08Speaker 1: was very intense. Thank you. As a coach, Did you
- 1:10Speaker 1: have a whistle? I did for practices, not during the
- 1:12Speaker 1: games like that. Of course, I'd scare the crap out
- 1:15Speaker 1: of dude. The best thing when you're coaching kids is
- 1:17Speaker 1: like the drills of like, all right, you run, dribble
- 1:20Speaker 1: till I blow the whistle, you stop the last one
- 1:22Speaker 1: stop gets kicked out, and it's so much fun with
- 1:24Speaker 1: it wasn't going all right? Run? Uh, you're playing squid
- 1:27Speaker 1: games with the kids. Jimmy, you're done. Next run run run.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Oh you didn't stop, Bill, You're out. Awesome, dude, nice, Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 1: those drills are fun. Do you want to coach next year? Um,
- 1:38Speaker 1: we're I'm going to coach next year, but I have
- 1:40Speaker 1: another guy coming in and help me out that knows
- 1:43Speaker 1: about basketball. And you're in. You're replacing Kevin. At the
- 1:45Speaker 1: same time, Well, Kevin did not renew. Don't act like
- 1:48Speaker 1: you're the victim. Kevin. You did not Did you not renew?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Kevin did not renew you. I haven't even been asked.
- 1:54Speaker 1: That's wow, that's not true. All news. You can at
- 1:57Speaker 1: least franchise tagged him. Give me a year. That sounds familiar.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Look look after the game, after the whole tournament. I
- 2:04Speaker 1: talked to Kevin. I said, hey, man, you know I
- 2:06Speaker 1: gave him a little gift card, thank you for doing this,
- 2:09Speaker 1: and of course you're always welcome to do next year.
- 2:10Speaker 1: He's like, oh, I don't know. I don't know if
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'll do that. But he didn't say no. It meant no.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And it was right after the game, thank you, when
- 2:16Speaker 1: emotions are high. Yeah, after the whole season, and I'm like, dude,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I just need a week. Let me get my thoughts
- 2:20Speaker 1: back together a little off season, then we can talk.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But I didn't know as a free agent though. At
- 2:25Speaker 1: the same time, does let's hey Kevin, let's pick another
- 2:27Speaker 1: team and coach him myself. Real nice, guys, real nice.
- 2:31Speaker 1: At the same time, ago, I finished this out before
- 2:33Speaker 1: we get into it. At the same time, like why
- 2:35Speaker 1: does Kevin want to coach nine year old boys? Like
- 2:37Speaker 1: maybe enjoys the sport. Oh, he's not a dad. Like
- 2:40Speaker 1: this is something we have to do. It you asked
- 2:41Speaker 1: me to coach. You can say samething about me. Yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but it was your team. You paid into the team, right.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But Jerry Jones, well he doesn't want to coach. But okay,
- 2:51Speaker 1: so they're here. There's that drama. Mike, what's up, buddy,
- 2:54Speaker 1: I'm good? How are you? Why I didn't ask you?
- 2:55Speaker 1: You are to say what's up. There's a lot of okay, cool,
- 2:59Speaker 1: cool cool, And then Coleman, who is is he on?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Or do we lose him? Because we had him on
- 3:06Speaker 1: and he was in his car and then we were like, well,
- 3:09Speaker 1: we can't do this if he's in his car. But
- 3:10Speaker 1: then we saw a microphone pop up form the bottom
- 3:11Speaker 1: of the screen, so he had his laptop and a microphone,
- 3:14Speaker 1: but he was in his car. And then we're like, well,
- 3:16Speaker 1: if he's driving, he can't. Then he's not. Somebody's driving.
- 3:18Speaker 1: We don't know who. It's a mystery person. And then
- 3:20Speaker 1: we heard I'm in a park at Starbucks. And now
- 3:21Speaker 1: he's gone. He's one mile from the Starbucks, so he's
- 3:24Speaker 1: getting settled. Wow, oh, we'll check in with Coleman. Maybe
- 3:29Speaker 1: I'm watching the show right now called Looking for Michael.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It popped up on my Hulu. Michael who a mountain climber?
- 3:35Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know what's with me in these
- 3:36Speaker 1: mountain climbing Everest shows, but it just popped up and
- 3:39Speaker 1: I watched it, and that reminded me of like, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 1: Coleman saying like, hey, I'm pulling up those Starbucks and
- 3:44Speaker 1: then he's gone. A lot of these stories are like that,
- 3:46Speaker 1: where they're just like, hey man, I'm gonna meet you
- 3:47Speaker 1: right here at this spot. I never saw him again. Well,
- 3:49Speaker 1: he said, yeah, I'm pulling into Starbucks, and I didn't
- 3:52Speaker 1: know about the whole deal. And we were a little
- 3:53Speaker 1: loose with our time. You know, we're like five minutes
- 3:55Speaker 1: ahead of where we would be. But so Coleman will
- 3:57Speaker 1: be up, We'll talk to him, do some basket ball. Uh,
- 4:01Speaker 1: let's get going with the tittle tattle. Never after the
- 4:12Speaker 1: announcement of UCLA losing forward Jalen Clark for the remainder
- 4:16Speaker 1: of the season, what do you get the chances of
- 4:18Speaker 1: UCLA making a run in the tournament. I didn't watch
- 4:22Speaker 1: maybe but two UCLA games all year. So I'm not
- 4:25Speaker 1: gonna act like I'm a big Pack twelve expert because
- 4:29Speaker 1: I say, I'm not awake for the most part. And
- 4:31Speaker 1: unless I see the highlight, it's not just UCLA, it's
- 4:34Speaker 1: usc it's Oregon, it's all of those Arizona And yes,
- 4:37Speaker 1: unless I see the highlight, I can't see it. And
- 4:39Speaker 1: act like I'm mister sports where I've stayed up until
- 4:41Speaker 1: eleven o'clock watching the game. So not the thing he was.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think he what do we average twelve or thirteen
- 4:47Speaker 1: of games something like that. But he defensively, he was
- 4:49Speaker 1: like the guys, see the center is the big guy.
- 4:53Speaker 1: He's okay, okay, okay. But he was like defensively like
- 4:57Speaker 1: maybe even like defensive player of the year for the
- 4:59Speaker 1: for the All Conference all. You know, there's a few
- 5:03Speaker 1: guys that are in that mix. But from all the
- 5:05Speaker 1: experts that I know that follow the Pac twelve, they're like,
- 5:07Speaker 1: they can't win it now. Whereas they were a one
- 5:12Speaker 1: or a two, depending on how the conference tournament shakes out.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Now they're like, we don't have them. Even Coleman, I think,
- 5:19Speaker 1: said he had Houston and UCLA up there, and he's like,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I can't even pick Ucla now. So I'm gonna go
- 5:23Speaker 1: just buy the experts because I'm not an expert in
- 5:25Speaker 1: us LA basketball. Watched two games. It seems to me
- 5:28Speaker 1: like most people feel like he was such an integral
- 5:29Speaker 1: part of that team that they could still win a
- 5:31Speaker 1: couple of games, but to win a national championship, it
- 5:33Speaker 1: doesn't seem like they think it's possible because of what
- 5:37Speaker 1: he provided to that team defensively. What do you think
- 5:39Speaker 1: about it? I'm kind of the same. I mean, obviously
- 5:42Speaker 1: we're on the same time zone here, so I don't
- 5:44Speaker 1: watch a lot of the games. I know Tiger Campbell
- 5:46Speaker 1: and I'm Jaquez year they will studs. Those are the
- 5:50Speaker 1: dudes that I thought, like, is it one of those guys,
- 5:52Speaker 1: then you're in trouble. But again they're studs in like,
- 5:54Speaker 1: they will score you points, right, they will do a
- 5:57Speaker 1: lot of the business that you do that get you
- 5:58Speaker 1: on Sports Center. They're they're they're they're those guys, right, Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and he's that guy. But he's like the trash man
- 6:06Speaker 1: the neighborhood. Yeah, you gotta have him, you gotta have him,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and if he's not there, it sucks and things things
- 6:13Speaker 1: aren't running efficiently, there's garbage. But he also doesn't get
- 6:17Speaker 1: the respect unless people kind of understand what he's doing,
- 6:19Speaker 1: why he's doing it. Right, He's what you would call,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I guess, the X factor of the team, right, one
- 6:23Speaker 1: of those if you need him, you got him. Great. Yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go with no, they can't, but only
- 6:28Speaker 1: because the experts singing, we don't really know well again,
- 6:31Speaker 1: other than highlights, I'm not gonna lie to you and
- 6:33Speaker 1: say I'm watching all those West Coast games. Hey colemen,
- 6:35Speaker 1: So what are you doing and where are you? So?
- 6:37Speaker 1: I am heading from Hamilton, New York work to Brooklyn,
- 6:40Speaker 1: New York for the eighteen quarters. I plan on going
- 6:42Speaker 1: to all four games today, but with this, I'm now
- 6:45Speaker 1: skipping the first game and going to three of them. Um,
- 6:48Speaker 1: but it was a four and a half hour drive,
- 6:50Speaker 1: didn't have a hotel to stop at, so making this
- 6:53Speaker 1: Starbucks work. Okay, he's Huslan. Yeah that sounds good. Can't
- 6:56Speaker 1: be mad at somebody from Hustland. He's gonna drive in
- 6:58Speaker 1: New York City. Oh, Coleslaw Crawley, what's up? He's gonna
- 7:00Speaker 1: drive in New York City. Yeah, Lafonda is gonna see
- 7:04Speaker 1: what Manhattan's like. Wait, who's driving you? My wife show here? Okay.
- 7:11Speaker 1: We just wanted to make sure she was there because
- 7:15Speaker 1: he's like my wife. But he's in the driver's seat.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We're like, no, my car, what he don't We don't
- 7:24Speaker 1: have any background of it inside inside joke. Yeah, we
- 7:28Speaker 1: had no background of an inside joke at all. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 1: said joke in my own head. So yeah, that's a
- 7:35Speaker 1: way inside. Okay, um okay, next question, sorry, Kevin Okay.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Jim Behim announced that he's leaving Syracuse out for forty
- 7:45Speaker 1: seven years. So when you hear that name, what do
- 7:47Speaker 1: you think of? Not coach K. He's not coach K. Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 1: like that's my comparison for the past ten years that
- 7:55Speaker 1: he's obviously a really great coach even to last that long,
- 8:00Speaker 1: but he was always in coach K shadow on my mind,
- 8:03Speaker 1: and he probably want to retire last year, but was like,
- 8:05Speaker 1: I can't retire same year coach K retires because if
- 8:07Speaker 1: I do that, oh yeah, no one's gonna know at all.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And also it just kind of came in the way
- 8:11Speaker 1: of like a weird press release where it was like
- 8:14Speaker 1: coach Bayham but forty seven years is retired and they
- 8:16Speaker 1: haven't been the greatest. I think of Carmelo, that's the
- 8:21Speaker 1: last thing I think of. Oh yeah, Carmelo at Plant Texas.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I think of his son. They had a little run
- 8:28Speaker 1: with Buddy. I think of a son. Yeah, I think
- 8:29Speaker 1: of all that. What do you think they are? Coleman?
- 8:33Speaker 1: I think of the two three zone. That's what I
- 8:35Speaker 1: think of. UM. I really wish he would have retired
- 8:38Speaker 1: after what was it like the twenty seventeen run when
- 8:41Speaker 1: they made a run to the Final four as a
- 8:43Speaker 1: ten seed. It seems like in this last half decade
- 8:45Speaker 1: he's really lost touch with where college basketball is going
- 8:49Speaker 1: to nil stuff, and I don't know, seems kind of
- 8:53Speaker 1: like that upset old man in the media that I
- 8:56Speaker 1: wish he would have retired five years ago and just
- 8:58Speaker 1: enjoyed watching his sons. But I think of the two
- 9:00Speaker 1: three zone, and I think probably he wanted to be
- 9:03Speaker 1: there for his sons to play with him, and the
- 9:07Speaker 1: school doesn't want to fire him, obviously, and they probably
- 9:10Speaker 1: made a deal you could coach through your sons, and
- 9:12Speaker 1: even though the program hadn't been clicking, they still weren't
- 9:15Speaker 1: going to fire him because he'd put in forty years
- 9:18Speaker 1: before they even got into It's probably not a pleasant
- 9:22Speaker 1: situation around Syrac's basketball, I would assume in general, because
- 9:25Speaker 1: you're right, I picture him as like the guy that's yelling,
- 9:28Speaker 1: yelling at the clouds on and out of his front
- 9:30Speaker 1: yard at this point. And Colema, why do you think
- 9:31Speaker 1: they just put out a press Leach, why not something bigger.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It's like, again, one of the most legendary coaches in basketball. Right,
- 9:37Speaker 1: it was so weird. I think the lack of success
- 9:40Speaker 1: of late it almost sounds like he was pushed out
- 9:44Speaker 1: just based on how he was handling that postgame press conference.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It seemed really odd. But the time is now. He
- 9:52Speaker 1: should have been out a couple of years ago, probably,
- 9:55Speaker 1: but just being the legend that he had that he's been,
- 9:58Speaker 1: all the success that he's had, they didn't want to
- 10:00Speaker 1: push him out, But now give them the last few
- 10:02Speaker 1: years felt like they had to. I don't even associate
- 10:05Speaker 1: Syracuse basketball to winning anymore, no, ye, And isn't that
- 10:08Speaker 1: sad because they were that program for a long time,
- 10:11Speaker 1: even early for me. But they're just not a winning
- 10:14Speaker 1: program to me in my mind. And I'm sure that
- 10:18Speaker 1: Syracuse basketball fans thirty and over remember a point when
- 10:24Speaker 1: they were really good and they still feel like we're
- 10:25Speaker 1: a really good team and deserve to win, and they're
- 10:27Speaker 1: probably torn, like this is our guy. We had him
- 10:30Speaker 1: for forty plus years, forty probably longer than most of
- 10:33Speaker 1: them have been alive, and so it's like he's a legend,
- 10:36Speaker 1: but he's also got to go. So what do I
- 10:38Speaker 1: associate with him? He's not coach K. That's it. I
- 10:40Speaker 1: mean coach He was always compared to coach K, and
- 10:43Speaker 1: he's not because that program hasn't won in a while.
- 10:45Speaker 1: He's coach K won. When he was out, I thought
- 10:48Speaker 1: they're gonna give them the national championship. They were like
- 10:50Speaker 1: coach K's leave and final year. I'm like, this is rigged.
- 10:52Speaker 1: This is bull craw terrible. I for sure it was
- 10:55Speaker 1: like conspiracy. I'm on TikTok conspiracy theory. So he didn't
- 11:00Speaker 1: he didn't do you know what come in my mind?
- 11:02Speaker 1: It's weird, it's not fair. But him hitting to do
- 11:04Speaker 1: with his car? Oh yeah, like that was crazy to me.
- 11:08Speaker 1: That story was his why well, can do you remember
- 11:11Speaker 1: the actual the details of it? Yeah? No? Was there
- 11:14Speaker 1: a feet a foot thing involved or something? To her?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Is that Rex Ryan who likes feet? And yeah, I
- 11:19Speaker 1: don't know about that guy. I don't know why those
- 11:22Speaker 1: two to me? Yeah, but he hit somebody with his car.
- 11:25Speaker 1: He drinking, no, And that's the crazy thing. It's like
- 11:28Speaker 1: I immediately thought, oh great, Jim Beham Beham's in trouble.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It was after a game he's driving home. He was drinking,
- 11:34Speaker 1: he had a dude, No, he was not drinking. He
- 11:35Speaker 1: just some guy got in front of him and he
- 11:37Speaker 1: hit him pedestrian. And I felt that everybody who does
- 11:40Speaker 1: that happen to? I know, maybe me if you're not careful.
- 11:43Speaker 1: What do you have there, Kevin? He was trying to
- 11:44Speaker 1: avoid a car on the side of the road and
- 11:46Speaker 1: swerved and hit the guy. Okay, I was standing on
- 11:48Speaker 1: the side of the room. That to me doesn't sound
- 11:51Speaker 1: like what Eddie remembered. And then convinced me, what do
- 11:54Speaker 1: you mean? What do I remember? He had to do
- 11:55Speaker 1: with his car, That's all I said. Yeah, but it
- 11:56Speaker 1: felt pretty shady. How you said it like that, dude?
- 12:00Speaker 1: And I'm like, I do something about that. Well, how
- 12:03Speaker 1: Eddie said it was he drinking to your like feet?
- 12:04Speaker 1: Like I knew there was a Yeah, No one's scandal
- 12:07Speaker 1: us there at all, buddy, all right, next question, Kevin
- 12:10Speaker 1: go into the NBA. Earlier this week, James Harden said
- 12:13Speaker 1: that he feels like he's being disrespected for the longevity
- 12:16Speaker 1: of his career. Are you buying that he's not disrespected,
- 12:19Speaker 1: but he's made so many things about him that the
- 12:22Speaker 1: main issue or that aren't his career, him moving around him.
- 12:26Speaker 1: We talk about him all the time, and I think
- 12:28Speaker 1: we would respect his career and how great of a
- 12:31Speaker 1: shooter he is, his longevity, all of this we would
- 12:35Speaker 1: respect if there weren't better stories coming from him, like
- 12:38Speaker 1: more clickable stories. So it's not that we're disrespecting it.
- 12:42Speaker 1: We don't get to it. That's the difference. When time
- 12:45Speaker 1: talking about James Harden, it's always unhappy again, always at
- 12:48Speaker 1: seven show clubs and seven nights. He's like Coleman with
- 12:50Speaker 1: the mid Majors. He's going to Stow Club in every city,
- 12:53Speaker 1: ten ten knights in a row. So it's not that
- 12:55Speaker 1: he may feel dispect because people are talking about that,
- 12:57Speaker 1: but he's giving such better material for idiots like us
- 13:02Speaker 1: to talk about that we're never even able to get
- 13:04Speaker 1: to that because we have nineteen other James Harden stories
- 13:07Speaker 1: to talk about that he has provided for us. They're
- 13:10Speaker 1: excellent fodder. So we even we don't even appreciate how
- 13:16Speaker 1: good he is because we can't even get to the
- 13:17Speaker 1: appreciation stage really with him, because there's so many other
- 13:21Speaker 1: things that when James Harden's name comes up, we think
- 13:23Speaker 1: about first and foremost he had somebody was a car.
- 13:26Speaker 1: He likes feet, all of that. Coleman, what's your answer
- 13:30Speaker 1: to that question? Yeah, I agree a lot with you, Bobby. Secondarily,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I think he's a tough watch with this bald dominant
- 13:39Speaker 1: as he is. He's trying to change his ways just
- 13:41Speaker 1: a little bit over time, but guy, he's a tough
- 13:44Speaker 1: watch and all that drawing foul stuff, trying to trick
- 13:48Speaker 1: the referees. I feel like, I don't know, he's not
- 13:51Speaker 1: traditionally viewed as a great player as some other elite
- 13:55Speaker 1: guys because he does so much of his work at
- 13:57Speaker 1: the foul line. It doesn't look as pretty. But big
- 14:00Speaker 1: ear for the seventy six ers. I mean, if they
- 14:02Speaker 1: can make a run perhaps to get to the championship
- 14:05Speaker 1: game something like that in a NIST that's very competitive.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Maybe he changed his changes his image going forward. But
- 14:12Speaker 1: I agree with a lot of what you said, Bobby,
- 14:14Speaker 1: And then also think he's just a tough watch. Sometimes
- 14:16Speaker 1: this is why Coleman's an asset to the show, because
- 14:18Speaker 1: I go, well, is it seven show clubs and seven nights?
- 14:20Speaker 1: And then Coleman's like, well, actually he's very boy, and
- 14:22Speaker 1: it's like like like the idiot and the smart guy.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And also James Harden sometimes shows up fat and somehow
- 14:30Speaker 1: three days later he's skinny and I don't get how
- 14:32Speaker 1: he does it. Yeah, it's amazing. Yeah, I wish I
- 14:35Speaker 1: could do that. Hey, but drawing fouls is an art.
- 14:37Speaker 1: That's an art, and he mastered that art. No, the
- 14:39Speaker 1: art is he can show up fat and four days
- 14:42Speaker 1: later be skinny too. How does he do that? They'd
- 14:45Speaker 1: be like James Harden, But also his beard makes him
- 14:47Speaker 1: look fat too. Yeah, because his beer's just so big.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Do you think you'd recognize him if you shave that beard? No,
- 14:51Speaker 1: no chance, right, I would recognize you if you shaved
- 14:53Speaker 1: your beard. What are you talking about? Might I barely
- 14:55Speaker 1: have a beer exactly and had every day? Yeah, it'd
- 14:58Speaker 1: be tough, though, buddy, it'd be tough. Next question, Well,
- 15:01Speaker 1: I had a Katie question last night and then I
- 15:03Speaker 1: found out asking anyway, even though there's been an update,
- 15:05Speaker 1: Go ahead, okay, So if he was healthy, do you
- 15:08Speaker 1: And then now Steph Curry's back for the Warriors. Who
- 15:10Speaker 1: do you trust more going down the stretch in the West,
- 15:13Speaker 1: the Warriors or the Suns? Hey? What is the latest?
- 15:15Speaker 1: Because I saw this is what I saw last night.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Maybe in warm ups Katie was like he went hard
- 15:21Speaker 1: in his ankle. Yeah, layout it just said ankle tightness
- 15:25Speaker 1: or soreness. So what I'm seeing today is he could
- 15:27Speaker 1: be out for the rest of the year possibly well
- 15:30Speaker 1: not sorry, oh my god. Possibly the start of the
- 15:33Speaker 1: playoff even that, yeah, but the rest of the regular
- 15:35Speaker 1: season possibly. What all I read was he was in
- 15:40Speaker 1: pre games and he came up with ankle tightness or
- 15:44Speaker 1: soreness or something, and that it was precautionary. Now he's
- 15:48Speaker 1: gonna miss fifteen games or so. Yeah, no way, as
- 15:54Speaker 1: haven't changed, they haven't. Nope, what are they asking? I mean,
- 15:58Speaker 1: Boston won Phoenix? Is that plus three eighty is on second?
- 16:01Speaker 1: Like number one in the West? Though number one in
- 16:03Speaker 1: the West? I cannot but lebron kd Boeheim and the feet.
- 16:09Speaker 1: It's a crazy day. Keep going to the feet, I know. Okay.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So the question was, let's act like he wasn't injured. Okay,
- 16:17Speaker 1: So who do you trust more coming down the stretch?
- 16:19Speaker 1: The Warriors are the Suns to make a deep run,
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know what, boy, I was just gonna roll one quickly,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but then I kind of second guess but you can't
- 16:27Speaker 1: argue with history. Yeah, I'm still gonna go. If we're
- 16:31Speaker 1: gonna bet, I would bet on the Suns to watch
- 16:33Speaker 1: the attention they have to pay to KD and how
- 16:36Speaker 1: much attention now that Booker is not getting from the
- 16:40Speaker 1: defense and Bookers lighting them up. He's about thirty five,
- 16:43Speaker 1: thirty six, thirty six. Booker is playing at a level
- 16:47Speaker 1: he hasn't been able to play. He's always had the
- 16:49Speaker 1: capability to do it, but he's playing at a level
- 16:53Speaker 1: that he hasn't had because he now has all this
- 16:55Speaker 1: space because they get how do you stop the Suns?
- 16:58Speaker 1: I mean, Chris Paul seven hundred teen years old, it's
- 17:01Speaker 1: still a super effective point guard. Katie number two. If
- 17:07Speaker 1: I'm drafting, maybe three two still too. I think you go.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I think you go Yannis one, Katie two, Yoki's three.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But Katie's top three player in the league. Where's Luca four? Yeah?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Top five for sure. I wasn't ready for this question
- 17:32Speaker 1: because this wasn't the question, but I would. I would
- 17:36Speaker 1: still probably go with the Suns and a healthy Durant
- 17:39Speaker 1: because he is that much of a game changer and
- 17:42Speaker 1: as good as the Warriors are, and they won last year.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Obviously they're getting older. They're getting older, and STEP's been hurt,
- 17:49Speaker 1: but they're also that's tough, they're I don't not believe
- 17:52Speaker 1: in Golden State, though I'm not saying that at all.
- 17:54Speaker 1: What do you think, Colman? Yeah, No, I would go
- 17:56Speaker 1: with the Warriors, just like Eddie said, the history, Um,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you just feel like they're gonna figure it out. They
- 18:02Speaker 1: did it last year. They're struggling on the road immensely,
- 18:06Speaker 1: but a veteran team like that, you feel like eventually
- 18:08Speaker 1: they're gonna figure it out. I just feel like in
- 18:10Speaker 1: those playoffs, though you shut up, Adi, I just feel
- 18:12Speaker 1: like in the playoffs you pick usually the team that
- 18:14Speaker 1: wins is the team with the best player in the playoffs.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And it's tough with those teams because again it's Steph
- 18:21Speaker 1: versus KD. But if they're both healthy, I'm probably going
- 18:25Speaker 1: with Then you look at Clay has been playing a
- 18:29Speaker 1: lot better this year, especially later in the year. I
- 18:31Speaker 1: feel like he's got his half step back. He's lost,
- 18:33Speaker 1: but I would still take Booker over Clay. And then
- 18:36Speaker 1: it's Draymond versus what you wouldn't Well, no, I'm just
- 18:39Speaker 1: saying you got you're missing Wiggins like you're missing Draymond.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm going to Draymond at three, who's a big blue guy,
- 18:44Speaker 1: obviously a lot of rebounds. Whatever you need from him,
- 18:46Speaker 1: he'll give. But Draymond versus Chris Paul, now we're not
- 18:49Speaker 1: positioning it up. We're just going third player. I'm probably
- 18:52Speaker 1: going with Chris Paul. Still, I'd probably still go at
- 18:57Speaker 1: the signs. But whatever, it doesn't matter because he's hurt anyway.
- 19:03Speaker 1: That's bullcrap. Yeah, that's bullcrap. All right? What else? Going
- 19:05Speaker 1: to the NFL? If the Jets do get Aaron Rodgers,
- 19:08Speaker 1: where do you rank them in the AFC? Well, I
- 19:11Speaker 1: was going to do the conference first or the division first.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So Jets, Dolphins, Patriots who get Bills? Okay, so you
- 19:24Speaker 1: probably go. It makes that conference just in general a
- 19:29Speaker 1: lot better because and also the Dolphins say they were
- 19:31Speaker 1: they're not pursuing anybody. They're not trying to jump in
- 19:34Speaker 1: on that franchise tag, that Lamar unrestricted franchise. They're like,
- 19:37Speaker 1: we're out. Our guy is toa They have said it,
- 19:41Speaker 1: they're in it. They're good. They must feel like there
- 19:43Speaker 1: aren't concerns there, And what's the offer to first round
- 19:47Speaker 1: you got, Well, the offer is whatever you want it
- 19:50Speaker 1: to be, but Baltimore gets to match the offer and
- 19:54Speaker 1: if they match it, they keep them. But if they
- 19:56Speaker 1: can't match it, well, then they got to pay the
- 19:59Speaker 1: contract and then they have to Baltimore two first round picks.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You mean, like when you go to best Buy and
- 20:03Speaker 1: you say, hey, I want this TV, but yeah, Walmart
- 20:06Speaker 1: has it. Give me that analogy, but that let me
- 20:07Speaker 1: listen here, going all right, I'm best Buy, I see
- 20:09Speaker 1: the Samsung right there, and I'm like, I want that,
- 20:11Speaker 1: but you have it at two thousand and eleven or
- 20:14Speaker 1: two twenty one hundred dollars. Walmart has it for eighteen
- 20:17Speaker 1: hundred dollars. This analogy, this analogy is not can you
- 20:20Speaker 1: price match that for me? This analogy is not correct. Okay,
- 20:23Speaker 1: So first of all, let's talk about the franchise tag,
- 20:25Speaker 1: which I believe is the average of the top five
- 20:27Speaker 1: at the position. Yeah, or it's like twenty percent more
- 20:30Speaker 1: of your current salary, whatever's higher. So what's going to
- 20:33Speaker 1: happen here is you got Lamar at that salary, which
- 20:36Speaker 1: is way less than he wants and he wants it
- 20:38Speaker 1: all guaranteed. But the only reason they're getting. Get all
- 20:41Speaker 1: guaranteed is a dumb, dumb decision. Cleveland has set a
- 20:45Speaker 1: terrible example. I made a bad decision for everybody. Terrible
- 20:48Speaker 1: terrible owners. That's why their team sucks. They've ruined it
- 20:51Speaker 1: for everybody. So every quarterback, well, I don't want fully guaranteed.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I would danger Jones about eighty five million guaranteed. Yes,
- 20:57Speaker 1: basically forty million a year. Except it's really only a
- 21:00Speaker 1: two year deal. So that's wherever I was like, Wow,
- 21:02Speaker 1: he got forty million a year, but he got it's
- 21:03Speaker 1: it's a two year deal, but he got eighty five
- 21:05Speaker 1: up front. Now, if we go over to Baltimore and
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'm not sure the franchise tag money for him, if
- 21:11Speaker 1: you break it down, but another team gets to come
- 21:13Speaker 1: in and go, this is how much we'd give for him.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Let's do a TV. You got TV at Walmart? Yeah,
- 21:17Speaker 1: best Buy? You just go with Walmart? Guy, dang it,
- 21:20Speaker 1: I'm here Walmart, Like, you gotta change me up right. Now?
- 21:22Speaker 1: You go into best Buy, you see a TV that
- 21:25Speaker 1: you like, Yep, you have to make an offer on
- 21:28Speaker 1: that TV. It's a Samsung H four. It just says,
- 21:30Speaker 1: it just says, we'll take your best offer on that TV.
- 21:32Speaker 1: He say, I'm gonna give you tim Bucks for that
- 21:34Speaker 1: TV right there. Well, Walmart's gonna go Wait, I'm confusing
- 21:39Speaker 1: on your stores. You confuse me on the stores. Man.
- 21:43Speaker 1: This is two man, Walmart and best Buy. That's it.
- 21:45Speaker 1: You don't need two stores. You need two TVs Samsung
- 21:49Speaker 1: and I don't let out this is terrible. Anyway, here
- 21:51Speaker 1: we go the division. I'm gonna go Bills, especially if
- 21:55Speaker 1: they can get Derrick Henry. Oh oh, you think they're
- 21:58Speaker 1: really gonna trade him? I don't. Yeah, I think the
- 22:01Speaker 1: Times would take a two and a four for Derrick
- 22:03Speaker 1: Henry right now, there's a new general manager. I don't
- 22:05Speaker 1: think Tannehill lasts. There's just you come in and you
- 22:10Speaker 1: get rid of the other guy's stuff, either your zero,
- 22:15Speaker 1: your one, or you gotta get rid of the other
- 22:16Speaker 1: guys stuff immediately or the other woman's stuff. So you
- 22:19Speaker 1: know where Derek n will be good for a couple
- 22:21Speaker 1: of years. Buffalo. That's a kind of style that they
- 22:24Speaker 1: want to play. That's kind of style their quarterback plays.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So Buffalo, I would go Jets, Dolphins, But you have
- 22:32Speaker 1: three solid teams there, and the Patriots who aren't terrible.
- 22:36Speaker 1: They regressed, but they brought Mac Jones Whisperer in so
- 22:42Speaker 1: that all of a sudden, if Rogers goes to the Jets,
- 22:45Speaker 1: is a really good division. Now. The Baltimore situation, though,
- 22:49Speaker 1: is so it's fun to watch because it's dramatic and
- 22:51Speaker 1: an a my team. I love drama, want ana my team.
- 22:55Speaker 1: And it also says something that these teams aren't lining
- 22:58Speaker 1: up to go out. Atlanta goes out, Miami goes We're
- 23:01Speaker 1: out because they don't have to pay whatever contract that is,
- 23:04Speaker 1: which is going to be a lot, and then have
- 23:07Speaker 1: to give up two first rounders as well. Now, the
- 23:09Speaker 1: argument would be, you can't find a good quarterback. You
- 23:11Speaker 1: just can't. They just don't exist. You can't just go
- 23:14Speaker 1: m there's three, I'll take that one. They're none, And
- 23:18Speaker 1: so it's you almost want to overpay for one if
- 23:20Speaker 1: you can get one and let them grow into that.
- 23:23Speaker 1: But Lamar's played ten of his last twenty two games
- 23:26Speaker 1: something like that as some of that though he may
- 23:29Speaker 1: not want to plays like he was just only kind
- 23:30Speaker 1: of hurt and he's like, why would I risk harding
- 23:32Speaker 1: myself more in a contract year? But I would go
- 23:36Speaker 1: bills Jets, Dolphins, Patriots in that order, with none of
- 23:44Speaker 1: those teams sucking. And in the AFC in general, Kansas City, Buffalo,
- 23:56Speaker 1: We're soon See'm still gonna go Buffalo for now. They
- 24:00Speaker 1: have some big defensive guys a free agency too, Cincinnati.
- 24:04Speaker 1: And if Aaron Aaron Rodgers is a top five quarterbacks still,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I believe it in all my heart. He was in
- 24:10Speaker 1: for this last season VP. The last two years before
- 24:11Speaker 1: that he had a broken finger, almost got a team
- 24:13Speaker 1: to the playoffs with nothing. He turned Watson into a star,
- 24:17Speaker 1: a rookie star. So the question is the Jets are
- 24:20Speaker 1: gonna be crazy good. The funny part is with a
- 24:23Speaker 1: Johnson and Johnson, it's a pharmaceutical la la and wants
- 24:28Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers like pharmatutical companies are targeting me. And so
- 24:31Speaker 1: now Woody Johnson the owner of the Jets, Johnson and
- 24:33Speaker 1: Johnson the air and he's part of Johnson and then
- 24:38Speaker 1: he'd be over there getting a check from Johnson and
- 24:40Speaker 1: Johnson's kind of story. We need. I love it, all right,
- 24:43Speaker 1: wrap it up, Mike. Let's all right, we're gonna bring
- 24:51Speaker 1: in the studio one of my buddies. But Quinn, before
- 24:54Speaker 1: I introduced you officially. I had them print off some
- 24:55Speaker 1: accolades for you. Yeah, yeah, it's real good. But there
- 24:58Speaker 1: was only one line, so but I made some other
- 24:59Speaker 1: stuff I'm talking about. So oh, let me do a
- 25:05Speaker 1: commercial first that that kind of works, right, Mike, yep,
- 25:09Speaker 1: shall do that first. Let's do that, Okay, just reminderer.

- 26:11Speaker 1: See show notes for full to tells. Okay, now let
- 26:13Speaker 1: me introduce Quinn Grove who Quinn and I are friends.
- 26:17Speaker 1: But when I was a kid, Quinn was like my
- 26:19Speaker 1: Arkansas football hero I have. I don't like tell him
- 26:21Speaker 1: that anymore because now I just like crushed him at
- 26:23Speaker 1: golf last night, like crushed him. Crushed. I mean it
- 26:27Speaker 1: was fake golf, but it was still golf crush. So uh,
- 26:32Speaker 1: letter all four years at Arkansas three year starter or
- 26:34Speaker 1: quarterback eighty nine eighty I don't know the years there.
- 26:37Speaker 1: He led the team to two two Southwest Conference championships,
- 26:41Speaker 1: two Cotton Bowl appearances. Only hot quarterbacks leading in multiple
- 26:44Speaker 1: Cotton Bowls, named the Arkansas All Century Team. Um, let's
- 26:48Speaker 1: see Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, Southwest Conference Hall of Fame.
- 26:51Speaker 1: What am I missing here? The podcast you'd like to
- 26:54Speaker 1: listen to? Oh? Yeah, we would have got there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:57Speaker 1: we called that. Twenty five whistles, talk about we're done here,
- 27:00Speaker 1: twenty five whistles. Light listen. I do listen to The
- 27:04Speaker 1: Razor Back Daily every single day everything. Sometimes I don't
- 27:07Speaker 1: in the middle of baseball season, right when it's like yeah,
- 27:14Speaker 1: when they're like, all right, we're gonna bring on the
- 27:16Speaker 1: h the janitor for the track team, and I'm like,
- 27:18Speaker 1: I know somebody's making them do that, or like hey,
- 27:20Speaker 1: why don't you and so other, But but mostly I'm
- 27:22Speaker 1: in every day like I love them, So check out
- 27:24Speaker 1: the Razorback Daily. My favorite was when they lost they
- 27:27Speaker 1: were eliminated in the Baseball Champion of the tournament and
- 27:30Speaker 1: they were like, well, it's tough. Well that's what the
- 27:33Speaker 1: volleyball team killing it though. They did a whole episode
- 27:35Speaker 1: on the volleyball team absolutely got at And he's also
- 27:38Speaker 1: on the the football broadcast for Razorbacks. When I first
- 27:42Speaker 1: met you, you were on the sidelines, right, and now
- 27:44Speaker 1: you're up doing color right, that's what's called your color. Yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 1: By the way, Quinn, this is Coleman. Coleman. I give
- 27:51Speaker 1: you Coleman story. He's the guy. He's in his car
- 27:53Speaker 1: right now because he's in New York. Can Coleman see
- 27:55Speaker 1: Quinn right there behind him? Yes? I can him. So, Uh,
- 28:00Speaker 1: Coleman has been to how many games and how many days?
- 28:02Speaker 1: I have been to eighty one games in seventy days
- 28:05Speaker 1: driving actually eighty two and seventy one eighty two college
- 28:08Speaker 1: basketball games in seventy days. Yeah, he's been almost every
- 28:13Speaker 1: mid major there is. That's his thing. He's trying to
- 28:15Speaker 1: find like the Cinderella. And so he's been in here
- 28:18Speaker 1: a couple of times, but only when he was driving through.
- 28:19Speaker 1: But he's a part of the show and he reports
- 28:22Speaker 1: back and he's he was like, you bet, but all
- 28:24Speaker 1: your money on Marshall. That's what he said to us.
- 28:26Speaker 1: And then they lost. They're they're out. So that coles
- 28:31Speaker 1: Coleman's college basketball expert. Uh, this is Kevin and obviously
- 28:35Speaker 1: you know Eddie and Mike in the room, sir, So yeah,
- 28:39Speaker 1: just hop in you're part you're part of the group here.
- 28:41Speaker 1: We're for sure gonna talk about stuff. But so Quinn
- 28:44Speaker 1: was like, hit me up like two or three weeks ago.
- 28:46Speaker 1: It's like, hey, se tournament coming to Nashville. You can
- 28:50Speaker 1: be there. Mostly we're not here usually we're on the
- 28:52Speaker 1: road and it sucks. I'm always mad and I'm like,
- 28:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna be here, and so it's like, let me
- 28:56Speaker 1: tickets do you want for the game? I was like
- 28:57Speaker 1: two boom gun. So yesterday I was like, I do
- 28:59Speaker 1: not want free tickets, but I need two more. How
- 29:01Speaker 1: do I buy them? So he hit me up and
- 29:03Speaker 1: that's how I was able to get two more tickets.
- 29:05Speaker 1: So now Kevin's gonna go, my wife's gonna go. See
- 29:07Speaker 1: that's who you guys gotta thank thank you you had.
- 29:11Speaker 1: We're in the Arkansas section, so you have to wear Arkansas.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Of course, anything for me, you go with it. Yeah
- 29:17Speaker 1: you have? Yeah, I got something. Yeah, woop pig, let's go.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I bring gift. That didn't sound natural. I liked it.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I like to try, but didn't sound natural. I got
- 29:24Speaker 1: something for you. I got Yeah, I got something. Whoo
- 29:26Speaker 1: pig baby, let's go. No, just just whoo pig baby.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Well now you're just saying it lighter, but let wig.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I took some friends that have never been to a
- 29:37Speaker 1: racing back game. They're once from Ohio, once from Arizona.
- 29:40Speaker 1: But there their married couple and they were like, go
- 29:42Speaker 1: pigs that is how we do it. They're gonna know,
- 29:46Speaker 1: they're gonna know that's that TikTok trend? Are they gonna
- 29:48Speaker 1: they're gonna know as like no, no, no, no, just
- 29:51Speaker 1: follow along. So all right, we're here. I do want
- 29:54Speaker 1: talk about North Carolina basketball for a second. So they
- 29:57Speaker 1: might make it now. I think if they beat Virginia
- 30:00Speaker 1: they make it for sure. I think they might make it. Now.
- 30:03Speaker 1: What a terrible year for them, especially when they're on
- 30:06Speaker 1: the cover of SI they go to national championship game
- 30:09Speaker 1: last year, This cinderella story cinderella ish because what were
- 30:12Speaker 1: they callming a seven seed last year? Or eight seed?
- 30:14Speaker 1: Do you remember eighth seed? Okay, so North Carolina big
- 30:18Speaker 1: one over Boston College by the way, terrible game. It
- 30:22Speaker 1: was a terrible I thought it'd be a lot closer
- 30:23Speaker 1: than that. Terrible and good for North Carolina. Sure, But
- 30:27Speaker 1: they're playing number thirteen Virginia tonight, and I if they
- 30:29Speaker 1: win this game, I think they're in regardless, And I
- 30:32Speaker 1: think there's such a ratings getter anyway, and now the
- 30:35Speaker 1: story is a ratings getter. If they get in that
- 30:38Speaker 1: I think you got especially if there are no like
- 30:41Speaker 1: upsets and conference tournaments that eliminate somebody I think they
- 30:44Speaker 1: end up getting in calling your thoughts on North Carolina,
- 30:46Speaker 1: I think they're gonna have to beat Virginia and may
- 30:49Speaker 1: have to win another if they're gonna get here's the issue.
- 30:53Speaker 1: They are one in nine. They're one quad one win
- 30:56Speaker 1: is at home over Virginia. Virginia's thirtieth in the net,
- 30:59Speaker 1: which is the cutoff for a home quad one win.
- 31:02Speaker 1: So if they beat Virginia, that previous win probably falls
- 31:05Speaker 1: to quad two and they would still just have one
- 31:08Speaker 1: quad one win. I think they may need to beat
- 31:11Speaker 1: Virginia and win another, but perhaps just beating Virginia would
- 31:14Speaker 1: be enough. And I think they beat Virginia, they're end
- 31:17Speaker 1: and there for sure in and I agree with everything
- 31:20Speaker 1: he says about quads and squads and point two diash three.
- 31:23Speaker 1: But guak, Also, I know these executives, these people send
- 31:28Speaker 1: this board room. You need ratings, and you're gonna get
- 31:31Speaker 1: it at first, but you need the blue bloods. And
- 31:35Speaker 1: if you can get a blue blood in, you get
- 31:37Speaker 1: a freaking blue blood in. It's kind of the unspoken rule,
- 31:39Speaker 1: and it's probably even spoken a little bit. And if
- 31:42Speaker 1: it's if they're right on the if they're should we
- 31:44Speaker 1: or shouldn't, Well, you know they're putting North Carolina in there.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I want to see North Carolina in there because I
- 31:48Speaker 1: would love to see them either just get trounced the
- 31:50Speaker 1: first round or win a few games. I mean, anything
- 31:52Speaker 1: that happens to them is entertaining to me at this point.
- 31:55Speaker 1: So I think they might be in now. I think
- 31:58Speaker 1: if they beat Virginia, they're in. Coleman thinks they might
- 32:00Speaker 1: be in if they beat Virginia, and if they win
- 32:03Speaker 1: the d that's just another game. Definitely the whole tournament,
- 32:06Speaker 1: do they No, No, no, no, they won't have to
- 32:08Speaker 1: win the whole tournament. They make the finals. I think
- 32:10Speaker 1: they're definitely in. But I mean, think of two years
- 32:12Speaker 1: ago twenty twenty one, UCLA played in Michigan State in
- 32:15Speaker 1: a playing game in Dayton, Ohio. UCLA went all the
- 32:19Speaker 1: way to the final four. I mean, who knows, maybe
- 32:22Speaker 1: that could be North Carolina's story this year. You're absolutely right,
- 32:25Speaker 1: Bobby that the selection committee then CIA would love the
- 32:28Speaker 1: ratings increase on Tuesday and Wednesday in Dayton if North
- 32:32Speaker 1: Carolina is playing, can you ever be watching? Of course?
- 32:35Speaker 1: And that's where I'd put them and a play in
- 32:38Speaker 1: how amazing would that be? North Carolina? And they're like,
- 32:41Speaker 1: we gotta plan a freaking play in we're North Carolina.
- 32:44Speaker 1: And it's like, yeah, you gotta plan a play and
- 32:46Speaker 1: be happy you're here. That kind of situation, it's like
- 32:49Speaker 1: when your kids complaining about food. Be happy you got
- 32:51Speaker 1: food on the table. Don't complain about the Brussels sprouts.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Some kids can't even eat North Carolina. Some teams are
- 32:56Speaker 1: at home. You shut up? What's Carolinas? The RPI? Who care?
- 33:01Speaker 1: I don't know. A Coleman may know something like that. Coleman,
- 33:03Speaker 1: do you know about what the ropery is? They were
- 33:05Speaker 1: forty ninth in the net before yesterday, so I don't
- 33:08Speaker 1: know what they've moved to. That net is interesting because
- 33:11Speaker 1: I think Arkansas was like they've been sitting at fifteen,
- 33:14Speaker 1: Like fourteen the metrics love your hag, Yeah, because we listen.
- 33:18Speaker 1: We've played a lot of good teams and they're not
- 33:20Speaker 1: holding the conference tournament against us. We've played other games,
- 33:24Speaker 1: other big games outside the conference tournament. So eight, whether
- 33:27Speaker 1: we're eight and ten a conference, but it's like they're
- 33:29Speaker 1: still like you're you're in regardless of what happens, which
- 33:32Speaker 1: is crazy because in the olden days three years ago,
- 33:34Speaker 1: if you aren't five hundred in conference, you weren't even considered.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Do you think part of that, though, Coleman, is because
- 33:40Speaker 1: a lot of the mid majors are a lot weaker
- 33:42Speaker 1: and the only team getting in from not even mid
- 33:44Speaker 1: but some of the upper but not Power six schools,
- 33:49Speaker 1: Like I can't see they're being two teams from any
- 33:51Speaker 1: of those conferences. I think the mid majors have been
- 33:54Speaker 1: hurt by this change in the last half decade or
- 33:56Speaker 1: last to the net and quadrant system. How much basketball
- 33:59Speaker 1: do you you watch? Quinn as a football guy, I
- 34:02Speaker 1: love it like all. I watch it all. How about
- 34:04Speaker 1: getting of a sect to me the day before the
- 34:07Speaker 1: tournament too, so you could watch the tournament even though
- 34:10Speaker 1: you didn't really want to a sect to me? I
- 34:12Speaker 1: think I'm a pass okay, just making sure I feel
- 34:14Speaker 1: like that's pretty strong. Yeah. Yeah, And you're here and
- 34:19Speaker 1: you're representing the university obviously, but also here as a fan.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Do you ever feel like you can't, like passionately cheer
- 34:26Speaker 1: because it might not look good for you if you're
- 34:29Speaker 1: upset while you're cheering or jeering and not yelling against
- 34:33Speaker 1: the team. But I get pissed sometimes and I'm like, god, dude, yeah,
- 34:37Speaker 1: and like, I don't cheer. I love the Razorbacks more
- 34:40Speaker 1: than anything, but sometimes I'm just so up. I'm just distraught.
- 34:44Speaker 1: But I don't represent the university. You do, do you
- 34:47Speaker 1: feel like you have to always smile and even though
- 34:48Speaker 1: it ain't going well? You know, I think my background
- 34:51Speaker 1: plays a lot of a big part of that being
- 34:53Speaker 1: a quarterback. I mean I never at the University of Arkansas.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I never really try to let my emotions show. And
- 34:59Speaker 1: so my wife is like, show some emotion, but I'm like,
- 35:03Speaker 1: I'm sitting there. She's talking about relationship, buddy. So at
- 35:07Speaker 1: the games, I flu, I just chill out so I
- 35:11Speaker 1: don't get too high. I don't get too long. I know,
- 35:13Speaker 1: you get up set, man, I go both ways, and
- 35:15Speaker 1: I don't. I have no emotion anywhere in my life
- 35:17Speaker 1: except Razorback games. Yeah, that's healthy, that's but I don't.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I know. I agree. My therapist is like, you don't.
- 35:26Speaker 1: How do you expect yourself to experience highs if you
- 35:29Speaker 1: don't experience it? Because I'm like, I don't get sad
- 35:31Speaker 1: because I don't feel myself of a disappointment, too much
- 35:33Speaker 1: disappointment in my life as my young stages. So I
- 35:35Speaker 1: don't ever get sad because I'm just I expect it.
- 35:38Speaker 1: But that keeps me from the hot that being said,
- 35:40Speaker 1: I get I'm set. I'm like sick inside my guts
- 35:42Speaker 1: when we lose, and I'm so happy when we win.
- 35:45Speaker 1: It's really the only thing where that happens when you
- 35:48Speaker 1: would play. When you were playing, you weren't an emotion
- 35:51Speaker 1: guy playing quarterback. Could you not be trust me? I had.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I had emotions that would tap into what my team
- 35:58Speaker 1: was dealing with. I mean, at the at the court
- 36:00Speaker 1: back position, you got to be able to look at
- 36:01Speaker 1: those other ten guys and be able to assess where
- 36:04Speaker 1: they're at. And there would be times where I'd have
- 36:06Speaker 1: to get on people. There be times where I pat
- 36:09Speaker 1: him on the back. So I mean, it's the same
- 36:10Speaker 1: thing you're doing in your business. I mean, sometimes you
- 36:12Speaker 1: just gotta be there for him and and but the
- 36:14Speaker 1: emotion aspect of it is I wanted them to always
- 36:17Speaker 1: know that when I walked into the huddle, we were
- 36:20Speaker 1: gonna have a chance to win this game. We were
- 36:22Speaker 1: gonna have a chance to be successful on this play,
- 36:24Speaker 1: and so that's that's really it. So I walked in
- 36:26Speaker 1: probably with the same demeanor most of the time, eighty
- 36:29Speaker 1: percent of the time, but there were times where you
- 36:31Speaker 1: had to change that to get what you needed. You
- 36:34Speaker 1: ever get to a fight on the field, I ain't
- 36:36Speaker 1: trying to fight. Well, I did get into a fight
- 36:38Speaker 1: one time. We were playing against Hawaii where in Hawaii, Okay,
- 36:44Speaker 1: my freshman year, and there was a big defensive tackle
- 36:46Speaker 1: guy named Al Noga. Big dude, you don't miss them
- 36:50Speaker 1: some ones now, they'll get after you now. And so
- 36:52Speaker 1: he kind of wrapped me up after a play and
- 36:55Speaker 1: I hit him in the stomach with the ball and
- 36:57Speaker 1: he slapped me across the face, and I'm a different decision.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I said, I'm gonna go to this other way. I'm
- 37:02Speaker 1: gonna let you have this this. I mean, you know,
- 37:05Speaker 1: I know I got help coming. You know, you know
- 37:07Speaker 1: how you know if somebody can hold them, hold everybody back,
- 37:10Speaker 1: and you can act like you're tough. Now, there was
- 37:12Speaker 1: nothing between me and Al. So it was, yeah, I
- 37:15Speaker 1: was gonna get it for a few minutes. So I
- 37:17Speaker 1: decided not to do that. I decided to live and
- 37:19Speaker 1: play another play. Would you ever talk crap across the
- 37:22Speaker 1: line of scrimmage when you were under center? Absolutely, Like
- 37:26Speaker 1: what would you say? How would you say it? Well?
- 37:29Speaker 1: Would they know it? Oh? Absolutely, that's the only way
- 37:32Speaker 1: to talk trash. You're under center, You're like, you're like
- 37:35Speaker 1: all right, blue fifty and you would say, well, no,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I wouldn't like in the middle of a cadence. Okay,
- 37:40Speaker 1: you're not, like, no, it would never do. I mean,
- 37:45Speaker 1: I mean, you gotta think about a lot of different
- 37:47Speaker 1: things other than talking track now after the play, before
- 37:50Speaker 1: the play, Yeah, trash talking was good. The one thing
- 37:52Speaker 1: you never want to do, though, Bobby get caught under
- 37:55Speaker 1: the pile, because they don't ever been caught up under
- 37:59Speaker 1: the pile. But I'm gonna tell you right now, hands
- 38:02Speaker 1: are coming under your face, man, trying to scratch your eyeball.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I mean, there's all kinds of dirty stuff under the pile.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I mean you see people get tackled, people on top
- 38:10Speaker 1: of them. The dude on the bottom, Yeah, he's dealing
- 38:13Speaker 1: with some stuff right when they ever try to grab
- 38:15Speaker 1: your oh everything? Yeah, I tried that last night. Yeah yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I was like, let me let me make a little
- 38:22Speaker 1: feel of that. Uh So You don't trash talk across
- 38:27Speaker 1: the line. You never would say anything like if you're
- 38:31Speaker 1: walking up to the line, you're like, okay, fifty six,
- 38:33Speaker 1: he's he's not good, We're gonna go take him. Never
- 38:37Speaker 1: anything like that, Nah, nothing, nothing like that. I never
- 38:40Speaker 1: really called anybody out like that, but I talked a
- 38:43Speaker 1: lot of trash for a guy that was back then,
- 38:45Speaker 1: five to two hundred pounds and you're in the option.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, ran, and you always if you're running the option,
- 38:52Speaker 1: one of the options is you get hit. No, that
- 38:55Speaker 1: is an option. I mean that that is that's gonna happen.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Getting hit, It is going to happen. It's when you
- 39:00Speaker 1: run that wish bone the way we did it back then.
- 39:03Speaker 1: It's like operating in the telephone booth. You ever get
- 39:05Speaker 1: hit so hard youdn't know where you were for a
- 39:06Speaker 1: little bit. Prime example, we were playing we were ten
- 39:10Speaker 1: and oh playing for a conference championship against Texas and M.
- 39:14Speaker 1: We're in Fairville, We're on the right hash on the
- 39:17Speaker 1: twenty seven yard line going into the north end. Zoll
- 39:20Speaker 1: we call a sprint out pass play third and eight
- 39:24Speaker 1: and a M had a lot of those linebackers that
- 39:27Speaker 1: would get after you. The wrecking crew is what they
- 39:29Speaker 1: call him. And so a guy named Aaron Wallace, who's
- 39:31Speaker 1: one of the best linebackers, was on the right side,
- 39:35Speaker 1: and so I'm sprinting left. Aaron Wallace gets up up
- 39:38Speaker 1: the field. I cut up inside. Three linebackers. I mean
- 39:41Speaker 1: three guys just absolutely crushed me. I fall down like Apollo,
- 39:45Speaker 1: Creed and Rocky you know, boom, hit the ground, FuMB
- 39:48Speaker 1: the football. I'm knocked out. And so Dean Webber, who
- 39:52Speaker 1: was a long time assistant or a trainer, he said,
- 39:55Speaker 1: it's the first time in his career he thought somebody
- 39:58Speaker 1: was dead on the field. Mean, I'm laid out, you know,
- 40:01Speaker 1: like back in the old movies, like drag Net, you
- 40:03Speaker 1: jump out of the window. They put the white chalk
- 40:05Speaker 1: around you on the field. They could have done that
- 40:08Speaker 1: on the twenty seven yard line for me. I mean,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I'm laid out like that. And so, uh so they
- 40:14Speaker 1: they waked me up with smelling salt. You know, that's
- 40:17Speaker 1: what they did back then. And uh you know, concussion
- 40:21Speaker 1: protocol was completely different back then. Was there one? It
- 40:24Speaker 1: wasn't one. I didn't exist. Your bell was wrong. Your
- 40:29Speaker 1: bell was wrong. And so they waked me up, and uh,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I look at Dean. I'm on the field. I said, Dean,
- 40:35Speaker 1: what are you doing in my bedroom? He said, we're
- 40:37Speaker 1: not in your way. Oh yeah. So they get me
- 40:41Speaker 1: up and we're walking to the sideline and I'm concussed.
- 40:45Speaker 1: I get over to the sideline. And so what they
- 40:47Speaker 1: do is they'll ask you a series of questions to
- 40:50Speaker 1: determine whether or not you're fit to go back into
- 40:52Speaker 1: the game. So they asked me the first question, Quinn,
- 40:56Speaker 1: what are you doing this play? I said, I do this, this,
- 40:57Speaker 1: and this and this. They Quinn, what's your chest on
- 41:00Speaker 1: this play? I do this, this, and this and this.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I'm thinking, I'm about to go back in this damn
- 41:05Speaker 1: game and I ain't got no business in this game.
- 41:08Speaker 1: They asked the last question. They said, Quinn, who's the president?
- 41:11Speaker 1: I said, Jesse Jackson took me to the hospital. You
- 41:14Speaker 1: couldn't even like that's that's the stuff. You couldn't remember.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Ambulance on the field. Wow, take me to the hospital now,
- 41:20Speaker 1: I see. I was trying to be forward thinking back
- 41:23Speaker 1: then in nineteen eighty nine, bringing a brother into the presidency,
- 41:27Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, that's Jesse existence ye, Jesse might not
- 41:32Speaker 1: have been the right one, but actually I was just
- 41:37Speaker 1: messed up. And and so yeah, when you get knocked
- 41:40Speaker 1: out like that, I mean, it's a it's a bad deal.
- 41:42Speaker 1: It's crazy that you can remember all the football things
- 41:44Speaker 1: even though you're sideways in your brain. You got all
- 41:47Speaker 1: you have, all that you know what play, where to go.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But it's also like, here, name something that we all
- 41:51Speaker 1: should know right now, every single day, all of us,
- 41:53Speaker 1: regardless of and it's like, nope, don't got that. You're
- 41:56Speaker 1: out of here. I'm out. I'm surprised you can remember
- 41:58Speaker 1: that though. Do you remember getting hit? Uh, it's bad. No,
- 42:02Speaker 1: I don't remember actually getting it. I was knocked out.
- 42:04Speaker 1: I mean when you when you see the hit, I'll
- 42:06Speaker 1: show it to you when you see the hit. I mean,
- 42:09Speaker 1: those those guys hit me, and I was. I was
- 42:11Speaker 1: out when they hit me, and then and then I
- 42:13Speaker 1: hit the ground, my head at the ground and then
- 42:16Speaker 1: an A and M guys but rolled over the top
- 42:18Speaker 1: of my head. So it was yeah, I was. I
- 42:20Speaker 1: didn't asked about the part you liked. I was talking
- 42:22Speaker 1: about the part. Remember feet touched me too? Do you
- 42:29Speaker 1: looking back, because I think you played out against Troy
- 42:32Speaker 1: a right when he was at UCLA. That's right, let's
- 42:36Speaker 1: go after He's a massive, massive cowboy. So you got
- 42:40Speaker 1: him though, right, No, we lost. We lost seventeen, one
- 42:45Speaker 1: of the worst games of my life. Why really, because
- 42:49Speaker 1: we did not produce. So all weeks long, I heard
- 42:52Speaker 1: all this stuff about Troy ak And I mean I
- 42:54Speaker 1: knew Troy because he's from Oklahoma. I was from Oklahoma
- 42:57Speaker 1: and he went to Oklahoma. I was in the stands
- 42:59Speaker 1: the day he got hurt against Miami when he's a
- 43:02Speaker 1: quarterback at OU and then had to transfer the UCLA
- 43:04Speaker 1: Jamal Holloway trots out on the field and takes over
- 43:06Speaker 1: the job. They win a national champion in the stances
- 43:08Speaker 1: and younger watching the games recruit, yeah, I got it
- 43:10Speaker 1: as a recruit. I was a senior, Yeah, senior, And
- 43:15Speaker 1: so Troy was big. He did this thing, and I
- 43:19Speaker 1: heard all week long about how Troy was going to
- 43:21Speaker 1: be the number one pig and all this kind of stuff.
- 43:24Speaker 1: And I was thinking, you know, and I'm this little
- 43:26Speaker 1: five teen quarterback, I'm gonna show this can up. That
- 43:29Speaker 1: was my mindset the entire time. Hurt all week Quinn,
- 43:33Speaker 1: you gotta have a balanced attack. I don't throw it
- 43:35Speaker 1: a whole like you gotta have a balanced attack. I
- 43:37Speaker 1: was like, all right, I'm gonna give you a balance attack.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you a balance attack. Get into the game.
- 43:41Speaker 1: One of the worst games of my life. We have
- 43:44Speaker 1: forty two yards a total offense the entire game. So
- 43:48Speaker 1: I get into the press conference after the game and
- 43:51Speaker 1: they're asked, Quinn, how you feel. I said, well, all
- 43:53Speaker 1: week long, y'all talked about us needing to have a
- 43:55Speaker 1: balanced attack. I said, we had forty two yards told offense.
- 43:58Speaker 1: I gave you twenty one rushing, twenty one pass more
- 44:02Speaker 1: balancing that. So y'all don't know as much as you
- 44:06Speaker 1: think you shouldn't know. There's a whole lot more than
- 44:09Speaker 1: just having a balance attack. And uh yeah, was he
- 44:12Speaker 1: legit in college? Troy or you could tell he is four? Yeah,
- 44:18Speaker 1: I mean at UCLA. I mean blonde, good looking cat. Yeah,
- 44:21Speaker 1: he was on his way. So what did that have
- 44:23Speaker 1: to do with him playing? Though? What's that? The good
- 44:25Speaker 1: looking cat? What did I have to do with him? Well,
- 44:27Speaker 1: I'm just saying it just adds to it. I mean
- 44:30Speaker 1: he's on you know, all right, That's just kind of
- 44:34Speaker 1: how it works. You knew that if he went to
- 44:37Speaker 1: be that number one pick for America's team, that he
- 44:40Speaker 1: was gonna be in pretty good ship. And he's turned
- 44:42Speaker 1: it into a great career. So you were a recruited
- 44:44Speaker 1: Oklahoma Oh yeah, and was a Switzer recruiting? Yeah, Switzer
- 44:47Speaker 1: And and what what was that like? Was he big?
- 44:50Speaker 1: I would tell you what, Barry Switzer can recruit a
- 44:53Speaker 1: shark to live on dry land. I mean he's that good.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I mean, I mean he will get you to make
- 44:58Speaker 1: a decision that you probably should not. Eight. And so
- 45:02Speaker 1: a funny story got named. Charles Thompson, who was a
- 45:03Speaker 1: quarterback at Oklahoma, Mike Gundy, who's now the coach at
- 45:06Speaker 1: Oklahoma State. We were all at Oklahoma the same weekend
- 45:13Speaker 1: and Mike Gundhy goes in to meet with Switcher first.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And he's in the office with Twitcher and they're talking
- 45:20Speaker 1: back and forth, back and forth, and Mike's in there.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Five minutes, goes by, ten minutes, goes back. It shouldn't
- 45:24Speaker 1: be a long conversation. And so he came out about
- 45:28Speaker 1: thirty minutes later, and Gundhy was like white as a sheet.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I was like, damn Lake, what's up? Bro? He's like,
- 45:35Speaker 1: I committed to Oklahoma. I said, don't you know they
- 45:37Speaker 1: run the wish ball? You are throwing quarterback? He said,
- 45:40Speaker 1: he wouldn't let me out thrown. And so when I
- 45:44Speaker 1: came back the following week on my recruiting visit, when
- 45:47Speaker 1: he called me in there for that little solo visit,
- 45:49Speaker 1: I said, come on, mom and daddy, I don't come
- 45:51Speaker 1: on any here because I am not gonna fall for
- 45:52Speaker 1: the banana and the telpipe and so, like what was
- 45:56Speaker 1: special about his communication down, I mean, it's just the
- 46:00Speaker 1: he related. He related to the mama's first and foremost.
- 46:02Speaker 1: He's gonna get the mama, and he's gonna eat, He's
- 46:04Speaker 1: gonna recruit, he's gonna get the mom. And he understands
- 46:08Speaker 1: the fact that, especially back back then, a lot of
- 46:11Speaker 1: black kids, I mean, that's the that's the opportunity. But
- 46:14Speaker 1: he knew how to relate to him. He knew how
- 46:16Speaker 1: to get them to the next level. And people bought
- 46:19Speaker 1: into that. So Barry Switzer was in a lot of
- 46:23Speaker 1: people's eyes, an out and an opportunity to the NFL
- 46:26Speaker 1: something bigger, and that's what he did. And he that's
- 46:30Speaker 1: that's why he had so many good teams. So why
- 46:31Speaker 1: didn't you go play for him? Because I liked the
- 46:35Speaker 1: situation of Arkansas better, So I said, I was in
- 46:39Speaker 1: the stands when Troy Aitman got hurt and Holloway trotted
- 46:42Speaker 1: on the field. I'm not afraid of competition at all.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Holloway trot leads him to a national championship. If you
- 46:49Speaker 1: got a freshman that's led somebody to a national championship,
- 46:52Speaker 1: it's gonna be very, very difficult to supplant him. And
- 46:57Speaker 1: that was something that weighed in my mind. But when
- 46:59Speaker 1: I went to Arkansas, the coaches, the players, it just
- 47:02Speaker 1: felt better for me. And my mom says something to
- 47:05Speaker 1: me back in nineteen eighty six and I and I
- 47:07Speaker 1: don't even know why she's thinking like this, but she said, Quinn,
- 47:11Speaker 1: if you go to the University of Arkansas, I can
- 47:13Speaker 1: just tell by the way these people um love this program.
- 47:17Speaker 1: On the recruitment we were there three days. She said,
- 47:19Speaker 1: if you go to University of Arkansas, you'll be able
- 47:21Speaker 1: to provide for your family in a meaningful way. And
- 47:25Speaker 1: and when you five ten, one hundred, one hundred and
- 47:28Speaker 1: ninety pounds, you ain't going to the NFL. You might
- 47:30Speaker 1: go to the CFL and your check ain't gonna come
- 47:33Speaker 1: all time. But I feel like that's a personal statement there.
- 47:36Speaker 1: You just make that up and come on, check ain't
- 47:40Speaker 1: coming all time. Man ain't coming on time. So I
- 47:43Speaker 1: was able to uh to meet people and continue to
- 47:46Speaker 1: build those relationships with the people of Arkansas, and it's
- 47:50Speaker 1: worked out. I can't I can't tell you how good
- 47:52Speaker 1: it is to be here, like I'm in Nashville hanging
- 47:53Speaker 1: out with you, getting ready to watch basketball night there
- 47:56Speaker 1: is Quinn. Wow, that's awesome. I love it. I ain't
- 48:01Speaker 1: giving it to him yet at the end, at the end,
- 48:04Speaker 1: at the end. Okay, so we got SEC tournament tonight.
- 48:08Speaker 1: We're all going, yeah, thank you, Quinn, thank you. Hold on,
- 48:11Speaker 1: hold on, hold on. I bought the tickets, but Quinn
- 48:13Speaker 1: got the tickets. No, no, he got me tickets, And
- 48:16Speaker 1: then I bought tickets for you guys. Yeah. If it
- 48:19Speaker 1: wasn't for Quinn, we wouldn't have the chance too. But
- 48:22Speaker 1: if it wasn't for the hospitality at the University of Arkansas,
- 48:25Speaker 1: he wouldn't even be here to begin with. So that's
- 48:27Speaker 1: what we should think from back in like, Okay, yes, hey, Tom,
- 48:33Speaker 1: Philip Rivers ready to unretire, come back, Philip Rivers, come back?
- 48:37Speaker 1: Where what do you think he's not gonna play again? Yeah? Hit,
- 48:41Speaker 1: the forty one year old former Chargers and Colts quarterback
- 48:44Speaker 1: retired after twenty twenty, was gonna go coach high school?
- 48:48Speaker 1: Did I'm ready to give the NFL one more shot.
- 48:51Speaker 1: He says he's in top physical condition, He's back in
- 48:53Speaker 1: a rigorous workout routine. Has expressed his readiness to join
- 48:56Speaker 1: a team should they need his services. He has already
- 48:58Speaker 1: been in contact with the Dolphins and forty nine Ers.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I don't think though he's trying to go in as
- 49:02Speaker 1: a starter. I think he's just like I'd like to
- 49:03Speaker 1: play again, and if it comes to that, or if
- 49:05Speaker 1: there's an injury, I'm happy to jump in and be
- 49:09Speaker 1: kind of a stop gap in between you getting somebody else.
- 49:13Speaker 1: And I also would imagine Nick, whether you could probably
- 49:15Speaker 1: speak on this, like when you do something in your
- 49:16Speaker 1: whole life and then you stop, meaning Philip Rivers, that's
- 49:19Speaker 1: what he did. Where do you play Ancy State? Yep?
- 49:22Speaker 1: So think about high school, NCY State. The Chargers celebrated, celebrated, celebrated.
- 49:27Speaker 1: You're the guy, You're the guy. All of a sudden,
- 49:29Speaker 1: you're the guy that used to be the guy. But
- 49:31Speaker 1: it's still cool, but it's not the same and you're
- 49:33Speaker 1: not getting that same competition when you stopped playing football
- 49:37Speaker 1: your final time, if it was your last razorback game,
- 49:39Speaker 1: or you know, when you stop after the CFL where
- 49:42Speaker 1: you just kind of lost for a minute. It's difficult.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But the good thing about it is I had a
- 49:46Speaker 1: mindset that I had a plan in place that I
- 49:48Speaker 1: was really going to try to make sure that I
- 49:49Speaker 1: was moving forward. I didn't have any grandeur. I didn't
- 49:52Speaker 1: have any thoughts of thinking I'm gonna be Philip Rivers.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Rivers played a lot of a lot of years in NFL.
- 49:59Speaker 1: But for him to think he's gonna come back that
- 50:03Speaker 1: that'd be a bad decision for mister Rivers. I mean
- 50:06Speaker 1: for both the team and Rivers and I mean heat, Yeah,
- 50:10Speaker 1: that'd be bad. But to answer your question, yeah, I
- 50:12Speaker 1: mean you you go through a phase where you try
- 50:14Speaker 1: to figure things out. Luckily, for me, I had broadcasting
- 50:18Speaker 1: to be able to jump in and still travel with
- 50:20Speaker 1: the team, be around players. Um that that really helped
- 50:23Speaker 1: me out. But look, it's you got eleven guys trying
- 50:28Speaker 1: to kill you and when you forty one forty two,
- 50:31Speaker 1: is that it? Yeah? Yeah, feel it better stay on
- 50:35Speaker 1: that recliner, man. I mean, that's that's what I would
- 50:38Speaker 1: that's what I would recommend. It's not it's look, I
- 50:42Speaker 1: know we played Madden before, and those little electronic guys
- 50:45Speaker 1: they're getting hit, hit, stick all that. Yeah, out there,
- 50:49Speaker 1: it's real. It's like when they get that fifteen yard penalty.
- 50:55Speaker 1: You get to fifteen yards, but you still have to
- 50:56Speaker 1: deal with the pain. That's a good point. I'm he's like, oh,
- 50:59Speaker 1: fifteen yards, col right, start over. It feels good. Start
- 51:02Speaker 1: over the next play, I guess. I guess not. Pagasow
- 51:07Speaker 1: becomes a twelfth Laker to have his jersey retired. I
- 51:10Speaker 1: just think about Eddie and I seeing Pagasow in Pebble
- 51:13Speaker 1: Beach hitting golf balls seven foot tall with really long
- 51:17Speaker 1: golf clubs and an athlete. But it's just I've never
- 51:22Speaker 1: seen something so tall. It's like a big swing. It's
- 51:25Speaker 1: just it's like a giraffe playing golf. Like it's just amazing.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Is it swing good? Yeah? Yeah, he was good. It
- 51:32Speaker 1: was just real. It's just like there goes the club.
- 51:35Speaker 1: It's like it's like a grandfather, a massive grandfather clock
- 51:40Speaker 1: like a swing I just said. And also he was
- 51:43Speaker 1: so tall that we knew he was somebody, but he
- 51:45Speaker 1: recognized blended in with everybody that was there, except for
- 51:48Speaker 1: the tall part. We're like, who is that? Who is that?
- 51:50Speaker 1: Left this? Oh? Oh god, dam's Pocasow. It's crazy pas So.
- 51:54Speaker 1: But yeah, and he's I think he's a bit overshadowed,
- 51:57Speaker 1: even though he's a great I think he's overshadowed by Kobe,
- 52:00Speaker 1: and not in a bad way, Like it's hard to
- 52:03Speaker 1: really be known as like that guy whenever that that
- 52:06Speaker 1: guy is on the same team. Yeah, especially because he
- 52:09Speaker 1: already played with Shack too early in his career, so
- 52:11Speaker 1: everyone always thinking this big man is Shack. I don't
- 52:13Speaker 1: even think of him a Shack playing again, what's crazy?
- 52:14Speaker 1: I just think of him and Kobe. But should think
- 52:16Speaker 1: guy's number be retired? Though? When you think about in
- 52:18Speaker 1: the grand scheme, Well, that's what I'm saying, Like, it's
- 52:21Speaker 1: like I don't think of him as but he Like
- 52:23Speaker 1: I was looking at a lot of the numbers, a
- 52:24Speaker 1: lot of the stats, even the championships. He's got every
- 52:28Speaker 1: analytic should Pippins be retired. Absolutely, yeah, But you know,
- 52:32Speaker 1: we think of Pippen is a really great Michael Jordan's sidekick.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Even though he's one of the top fifty basketball players
- 52:37Speaker 1: of all time. When they put the list out, no
- 52:40Speaker 1: one's gonna go name the top fifty players, even twenty players,
- 52:43Speaker 1: ever twenty five. You're not gonna say Scotty Pipps's name,
- 52:45Speaker 1: although he probably was, but he played Michael Jordan, so
- 52:49Speaker 1: it's overshadowed so much. I mean, what does it take
- 52:51Speaker 1: to get your jersey retired? I mean just contribution? How's
- 52:54Speaker 1: the con what's the contribution? Is it wins? Is it titles?
- 52:57Speaker 1: Is it? It's just amazing mostly titles. Honestly, it's mostly titles.
- 53:01Speaker 1: You can also just be a big, big winner on
- 53:03Speaker 1: a losing team, like for example, Manning in New Orleans,
- 53:08Speaker 1: the Dad Archie. I'm pretty sure as Jersey retired and
- 53:11Speaker 1: they sucked. But but he was just the guy and
- 53:14Speaker 1: like he was throwing for records for team records for
- 53:20Speaker 1: so like there's not a real answer. It's almost like
- 53:24Speaker 1: how I got an illuminati. I don't really have a
- 53:26Speaker 1: reason that I can tell you guys. For sure, the
- 53:29Speaker 1: first time he's admitted this. Now, I didn't admit I
- 53:31Speaker 1: was making a job. I was making a joke there.
- 53:33Speaker 1: But don't you think, though, like the Basketball Hall of Fame,
- 53:38Speaker 1: there are guys that probably shouldn't be Hall of famers
- 53:40Speaker 1: in the Basketball Hall of Fame, And they're probably guys
- 53:42Speaker 1: who who aren't in that should be but they were
- 53:44Speaker 1: on bad teams. Yeah, okay, Like Tim Couch is an
- 53:47Speaker 1: example I use in the NFL. Had he not gone
- 53:49Speaker 1: to the Browns, I think he'd probably been a pretty
- 53:51Speaker 1: good NFL quarterback. I do, Yeah, I do, And I
- 53:55Speaker 1: think he went to a bad organization. You don't have
- 53:57Speaker 1: a chance. I think if you go to the Browns.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Look at Matt Stafford, he would have just been a
- 54:02Speaker 1: guy that threw a bunch of yards and never won
- 54:04Speaker 1: with Detroit. Yea, so first year he leaves, he was
- 54:08Speaker 1: super Bowl and super Bowl. Yeah he's not even prime,
- 54:12Speaker 1: he's old Matt Stafford and he wins a freaking super Bowl.
- 54:15Speaker 1: So yes, I agree with what you're saying completely. There
- 54:17Speaker 1: were guys that shouldn't be in because they were on
- 54:19Speaker 1: great teams with great casts, and there are guys that
- 54:21Speaker 1: probably should be, but because they weren't in good organizations.
- 54:23Speaker 1: They had no help. They aren't because they weren't nurtured
- 54:27Speaker 1: and giving resources. And I think about the Basketball Hall
- 54:30Speaker 1: of I think that that's the easiest Hall of Fame
- 54:32Speaker 1: to getting. And again I don't know if it's with
- 54:34Speaker 1: the number of players actually come through the NBA, because
- 54:36Speaker 1: it's the roster size is smaller than most, but there
- 54:40Speaker 1: are a lot of guys in there. In my opinion
- 54:41Speaker 1: that like that guy's a Hall of Famer, really has
- 54:46Speaker 1: a hater, You're just a hater. I'm not that thought.
- 54:50Speaker 1: That's a hater thought. No, No, I'm thinking like really
- 54:53Speaker 1: and truly when I think of Hall of Famers, I
- 54:54Speaker 1: mean it's somebody that really changed. I mean like Gasaw
- 54:57Speaker 1: is probably gonna get into Hall of Fame, not probably first, sure,
- 55:00Speaker 1: yeah yeah. And so I think the NBA is now
- 55:04Speaker 1: the basketball Hall of Good. I think the NBA, the NBA,
- 55:08Speaker 1: the NFL, major League Baseball, they also gotta be the
- 55:10Speaker 1: Hall of We gotta keep making money. And if you're
- 55:11Speaker 1: not putting enough players in each year and you're not
- 55:13Speaker 1: having ceremony and people reminded what city it's in, what
- 55:16Speaker 1: town it's in, why you gotta get tickets well, then
- 55:18Speaker 1: the Hall of Good turns into the Hall of broke
- 55:21Speaker 1: and nobody's going it's it's it's still a business. So
- 55:25Speaker 1: sometimes you gotta make make the Hall of Famer just
- 55:29Speaker 1: so you keep everything going. So pribame example, like Udonna's
- 55:33Speaker 1: hazl for the Miami. He's been there for forty two
- 55:37Speaker 1: years old. You guys played together. Yeah, I mean, longevity
- 55:45Speaker 1: is probably gonna get him in the Hall of Fame.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Longevity's important for sure, because you're also able to build numbers.
- 55:50Speaker 1: He doesn't sound to my mind, you say, has them.
- 55:52Speaker 1: I think of playing in Florida. I think of him
- 55:56Speaker 1: being on some good I don't think Hall of Famer.
- 55:58Speaker 1: But you can also convince me was numbers. But I
- 56:00Speaker 1: didn't see everything. But you're right, let's put the hull
- 56:02Speaker 1: a really good. How about that with the occasional grade.
- 56:05Speaker 1: It sounds weird, but okay, a couple of things. Let
- 56:07Speaker 1: me do Let me do this. I want to get

- 57:12Speaker 1: your interview with the coach of Stanford, Bucky McMillan. Yes,
- 57:17Speaker 1: how why did you feel about Bucky? Oh, my gosh,
- 57:20Speaker 1: Bucky McMillan. I feel like he is a coach that
- 57:22Speaker 1: in ten years, I'm going to be like pinching myself.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I gotta interview Bucky McMillan a decade ago. Now. He's
- 57:29Speaker 1: from Birmingham. He played college basketball at Birmingham Southern. So
- 57:33Speaker 1: perhaps he's a guy that will stay around at Stamford
- 57:36Speaker 1: for a while. But I feel like the turnaround that
- 57:38Speaker 1: he's had at Stanford, power six programs are gonna want
- 57:42Speaker 1: him to be their head coach and he's a guy
- 57:45Speaker 1: that wins the right way that I think is going
- 57:47Speaker 1: to be a future superstar in college basketball. Here he is.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Here's Coleman with Sandford head coach Bucky McMillan. Coach, take
- 57:55Speaker 1: me through what pushed you into getting into coaching after
- 58:00Speaker 1: your playing career at Birmingham Southern. I actually coach while
- 58:03Speaker 1: I was playing coach au basketball, and so I always
- 58:07Speaker 1: tell people, you know, I know my college coach now,
- 58:08Speaker 1: but really my heart was maybe an AU coach before
- 58:12Speaker 1: I wasn't even a high school coach. And you know,
- 58:14Speaker 1: those are the days of fifteen passionate rands and ten
- 58:17Speaker 1: hour bus rides and you know, being a responseful for
- 58:22Speaker 1: fifteen seventeen year old kids at twenty one years old,
- 58:24Speaker 1: and I loved every second of it. Some of the
- 58:27Speaker 1: most fun I've ever had was coach was first team
- 58:29Speaker 1: I coached an AU, so I did that when I
- 58:31Speaker 1: got done playing. I was like, I'd already knew what
- 58:33Speaker 1: I wanted to do, was jump right into coach. We'll
- 58:36Speaker 1: push you immediately into that to start coaching AU basketball
- 58:39Speaker 1: while you are in college. I just always loved the
- 58:41Speaker 1: game of basketball. I've put so much time into the game,
- 58:43Speaker 1: and you know, I just I just love being around it.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Like you know, everyone try to find their flow states
- 58:49Speaker 1: somewhere and could get that a journal and going and
- 58:51Speaker 1: basketball does it for me? When you become a head
- 58:54Speaker 1: high school basketball coach, we're already thinking in your head
- 58:57Speaker 1: of one day coaching in college or were you just
- 58:59Speaker 1: focused on and there now? I never really looked at
- 59:02Speaker 1: it to the next step of that, I just always
- 59:05Speaker 1: you know, when I was at my job, I just
- 59:07Speaker 1: you know, it's funny because I was looking at some
- 59:10Speaker 1: of the high school stuff now, and sometimes when you're
- 59:14Speaker 1: in it, it seems like it is your whole world.
- 59:17Speaker 1: When you step out of it and you're able to
- 59:19Speaker 1: look at it, it's like, Okay, maybe it wasn't the
- 59:22Speaker 1: whole world, you know, And so whatever job you're in,
- 59:26Speaker 1: I feel like you feel like that is your whole world,
- 59:29Speaker 1: and you know, this opportunity obviously came along there. Right now,
- 59:32Speaker 1: this is my whole world. Yes, m that's the same success.
- 59:35Speaker 1: How are you able to keep it at the at
- 59:37Speaker 1: the high school level for that long that many state
- 59:40Speaker 1: championships and competing at that level. We had awesome kids, right,
- 59:44Speaker 1: we really did. We had we had really good kids
- 59:47Speaker 1: and good players, but just just really were made of
- 59:50Speaker 1: the right stuff that it quits a long term winning.
- 59:52Speaker 1: It's not a coincidence. When you see some of these programs,
- 59:55Speaker 1: even in college, that have those twenty winning seasons every year,
- 59:59Speaker 1: you're going to find out that they're usually high character people,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: that they're unselfish people, they work more all those intangrales
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: because they're different between a lot of college basketball teams'
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: is like that much, right, you know, I mean it's
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: really like that much. And so what separates, really what
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: separates is how does a team, how to players, individuals
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: handle when things don't go their way. That's really what separates.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: How do you handle it when it doesn't go your way?
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: And or if you have the right people, they know
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: how to handle that. They're not going to quit on you.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: They're gonna keep playing, They're going to persevere and store
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: of our season this year, right, we had a good start,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: we had some injuries, went through a losing street, but
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: we had the right people that could turn it around
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: and persevere. You had an unconventional route for most Division
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: one coaches. What was it late getting your names thrown
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: in the running for this head basketball job coming from
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: the high school ranks, rather than working your way up
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: as an assistant through college or something like that. It's
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: a good question, people, I've asked an asset. You know,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I've always number one believed in myself. So you know,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I always always knew that an opportunity in basketball, regardless
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: of the level, I knew I could be successful. Um,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: but you know, it's an honor because this place is
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: you know, five minutes from my house right right. It's
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: got an incredible administration, it's got an athletic director that's phenomenal.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: We've got a presence that is great. So if you
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: could have drawn up a place to go from high
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: school to college, and I'm actually I live in Mountain
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Book that's where our coach high school basketball in sandfordge
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: actually closer to my house and Umber High School, So
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: you know that's like a dream situation, absolutely, and then
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: to be here with the people here, and the people
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: here want to win Stanford. You know, if you look
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: at it, Sanford we want into football this year, the
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: conversationship wanted in women's soccer, one into volleyball, right, menially
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: were co champs right now at the league and men
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: basketball right, So like it's a school that wins, and
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: so that's always good. Absolutely. Coach, you talked about a
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: little bit of adversity, right, facing adversity, and how do
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: you respond to that. Your kids have already responded very
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: well to that when you saw it in late November
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: early December, face some injuries, lost seven straight basketball games.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: You get despite that, you're twenty one and nine. How
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: do you get the guys to rally heading into confidence
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: tournament play after seven straight losses. Yeah, I think the
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: focus has always got a video on getting better. If
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: you focus on winning or losing and that's the end all,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: then you know you're going to become complacent when you win, right,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: and then sometimes when you lose, you don't have the
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: right attitude that we got to get in the gym
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and continue to work because you're down on your focus
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: on your results. You can't focus on your results. Even
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: today when we play Firming, it's gonna be about how
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: we play right. Like you know, if we play well,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: things take care of themselves. You can play well and lose,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: but you know you got to strive to play your
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: best at all times and do you get better? We
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: want to be better next week in the confiseurnment than
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: we are to day. Wouldn't be better day than we're
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: a last game of Chattanooga. I think if that approach
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: is permeated throughout your program, then the pressure of winning
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: and losing isn't It's great And so when you go
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: through adversity that people would consider adversity, which would be
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: losing basketball games, you're you're still focused on doing the
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: right things to right the show. Let me ask you
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: about a little bit more adversity than that just one
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: bad stretch through the season. What about in your first
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: year six and thirteen, so many issues with COVID in
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: your first year after having all the success that you've
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: had in high school. What were the lows of that
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: like and how do you propel the team forward to
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: that next year? Already get a twenty win season, I
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: should think we win now and we won last year
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: because of our first year. I really believe that sometimes
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: when a program gets going, it's not the year it
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: got going. There's something in the past that you may
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: not known at the time was a reasonential program one,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: you know, whether it can be for any may be
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: dismissing certain players that can hurt you short term, whether
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: it's you know, you know, doing certain things that are
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: gonna be a negative short term for you but can
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: be a positive long term. Are you willing to do it?
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: But are you willing to put the program first? Are
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: you going to put the team first? Right? Are you
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: going to put the individual first? It's always got to
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: be you gotta make the best decision for the program.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: First at all times. And that way, the team that
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: is currently playing can flourish and individuals can flourish if
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: you have that mindset. But when you kind of get
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: that order flipped. But the best decision right now for
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: this team is to do this irrespective of what the
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: program really needs. You know, we're going to play players
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: who haven't acted, right, I've done that just to win
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: a game. What happens is you can't have a successful program.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: You just can't have that. And so I think if
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: you if you make every decision that way, and essentially
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: what we're talking about is making a long term decision,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: then you can have long term winning. If you're going
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: to have make short term decisions, you make a short
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: term win, but you'll never win long term, right. And
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: so for us, we wanted to build something that sustainable
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: and I think you see that when you have that,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: your teams are always going to improve. And last year
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: we did the same thing, like we won like caniber
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: last twelve, right, we were one fifteen over the last seventeen.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: This year hopefully sixteen over last eighteen after the days.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: But you know that's what a program is, not a team,
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: it's about a program. You've utilized the transfer portal very successfully.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Two of your five leading scorers Logan aj, we're part
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: of that six win team. The other three have been
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: guys even able to pull in from transfer portal, two
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: of them from the Power six ranks. When you bring
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: in a guy like Kles Glover from Florida who average
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: nineteen points a game last year, numbers are down a
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: little bit this year, but clearly critical to your team's success,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: even in his injuries. How quickly did you know, Wow,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: we've got a special talent here when he arrived on campus.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: For you, I knew Kles Blobo was a special talent
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: well before he robbed on camp because we played against
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: from a high school and at twenty eight points on him. Yeah,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: when I was coaching high school. You're playing at Beard
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: in high school in Tennessee and they won the state
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: championship and we went to state championship and we met
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: and we played a game in Mississippi, and I remember
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: the day before the game, I'm looking at his tape
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: and it because like it's a non league game and
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: all that. So I'm like, so you don't spend a
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: ton of time on it, but you look at the
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: day before, like it's calling who is I started the
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: tech somewhere, I'm like, who in the world is this guy?
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: That's unbelievable, And so we go out there and had
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: twenty eight points on us. I just remember it. And
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: so it's funny how you remember things and how like
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: things intertwined. Like I don't remember a lot of players
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: off other teams, they just not me music for get that.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I don't remember the details of them after the game's playing, right.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: That always stuck with me. It's always stuck with me,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: you know, sometimes to make the things happen for a reason.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Stuck with me. And then we ended up united, and um,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: you know, he's had a great, great career here so far.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: He had a knee injury days had to overcome and
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: you know he's but he's as dynamic as anybody in
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: the league when he's held him. Yes, sirs, last question
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: for you here, coach, what would it mean to you
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: being a guy coaching here and Birmingham to lead the
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Sandford Bulldogs to an NCAA tournament. I mean a lot,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: you know, I mean more if we get then said tournament,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: we win some games, So that's kind of really what
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: we want to do. You know, we want to play
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: our best basketball. If we play our best basketball, I
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: think anybody in our league that gets to the tournament
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: has a real chance to win, and so the so
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: kind doesn't play just just to be there. And if
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: you look at the last couple of years, those those
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: games have been single digit gang. I mean right down
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: to the wire. We've got teams now legal the league eight, right,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: you know, and people get Steff Current playing in this
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: league right, so you know it being a great deal.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: But again, we just got to focus when we can control,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: which is playing our best and hopefully we play player
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: best today. You won't see this that for people that
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: don't know. I'm really glad you're here because people don't
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: know what we have going on here. When you don't
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: feel this in this building right here, right, you're gonna
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: feel mid major places and sometimes that there's mid major
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: places out there. Their facilities are so big that people there,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: but you don't feel it like we're not gonna about
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: to fill this. And that's what I want people to know.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: That in the middle of Alabama, which people perceived as
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: a football place, right here, we have Auburn, who's the
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: top basketball team. If UAB is playing great, you have Alabama,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: who's the top two three team in the country, and
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: then now you're going to see this with us, who's
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: you know, right in first place of their league, and
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: you're gonna feel that this is a basketball state just
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: as well as a football state here in Alabama. Yes, sir,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: I got goosebumps here in that coach. I can't wait
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: for tonight. Thank you so much for your time. Wishing
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: you and Samford best of luck the rest of the way.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Oh man, I appreciate you being here. Thank you all right,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: call appreciate that. Hey, speaking of coaches, you guys, see,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: we're old mess. Was talking to Beard like he's yeah,
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: out of Texas. Now he's talking to old Miss. Here's
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: the thing about old Miss. They don't care. They just
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: want to win. They're like, yeah, well, we don't care.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: We have no integrity and there's no charges are dropped
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: so and there's nothing on his record right as far
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: as the charges were dropped, Yeah, yes, dropped. And you
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: felt like Texas felt the pressure that even though they
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: were dropped, since it happened under their watch, they had
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: to do something. If I were all miss, I would go.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: I have no shame either. Bring back Petrino after Pittman leaves. Oh,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: once Pittman goes and decides I'm done, after we win
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: some games, and let's go bring him back. Baby. I
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: was like, why are we firing him? Whiggy left whatever.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: He ain't stab anybody. But anyway, if Beer goes to
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: all Miss, that's bad for the SEC. He's a really
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: good coach. He completely turned Texas Tech around, went over
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Texas they were all They're still awesome. Yeah good, it's
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: his team. Please don't go to ole Miss Hire Bucky McMillan.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: It's an end of Sanford's That's why I say about that. Um,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: let's do final thoughts, and my final thought is gonna
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: be what I've mentioned at the beginning of this. Thank
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: you for reminding me, um, and I will go last Eddie, Oh, Tiger, Tiger, Tiger.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Maybe you can shed a little bit of light on this.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: But his girlfriend breaks up with Tiger and now she's
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: going to the courts trying to get his NDA nullified
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: because there's some bad stuff went on in that relationship.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: So she needs to judge to say the NDA no
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: longer holds true because of what you're claiming, which I
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: think was like sexual assault. Correct. I think that you
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: may look up the exact terminology, but there's something like that.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: It's sexual harassment, is the exact terminology. Don't know exactly
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: what do you think? It's harassment? That's what it's said.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: You looked at up because I definitely don't want to
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: be wrong about this, but go ahead. A question. I
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: just don't know. Is that even possible to get an
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: NBA nullified? Yes, rare, but possible. So when she dated,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: just to understand what do you see, Kevin? No, nothing yet.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: I was wondering what an NDA is. Oh, that's a
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: great thing that I'm married. I don't know. It's not marriage.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: It's a nondisclosure agreement. Okay, Like when and just being
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: completely transparent here, if people come and work at my house,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: like they're doing what work inside the house, they signed
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: India's so they can't take a picture anything, they can't
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: talk about stuff, just because I've had so many security issues.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Like well, indeed, like after we leave here, I'm andy
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: a Quinn, I just want you to sign this paper.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: It'd be funny, all right, go ahead, Eddie, Yeah, just
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: question because I don't really understand. So so when they
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: started dating tigers, Like, I've been through a lot of
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: crap in my life. A lot of people like to
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: talk about about me. So before we do this, sign
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: here and you can't talk about our relationship ever. Correct.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: And now she's trying to get rid of that. She's
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: what do you have both of them? Assault and harassment?
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: So what the judge would have to say that he
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: thinks probably there's enough evidence in this sexual assault or
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: harassment for it to be lifted. He's not gonna lift
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: it just because she wants to say some stuff, but
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: probably it's a let's talk about it privately. What's a deal.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: He has to make a decision. And if he feels
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: or she feels like a judge man, woman, I don't
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: know if they feel like that this agreement being lifted
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: is for the victim. That happened sometimes and it should happen. Yeah,
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: you know there were times with other folks, famous people,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: they're like, we need India lifted because we have charges
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: we need to press. And the judges will do that
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: at times. So if true bad news, Yeah, we'll see
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: how this plays out. I'm not jumping on that. It's
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: true and like jumping on that it ain't true part.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: But we should wait and see how it plays out,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: because it's easy as members of the media, if that's
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: what we are, to just pick whatever narrative sounds most
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: entertaining and run with it. And so we try not
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: to do that unless it's got feed in it ain't.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: I don't. I'm not gonna run with a narrative. You know,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: I love you know, I love people to love fee.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: I personally don't like feed at all. They don't get
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: why that's all. Yeah, a lot of people according to
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: this podcast. So what what I hope happens is the
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: judge is able to speak with her, hear her story,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: and if he feels like that that's true, that he's
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: able to lift that all right. So it is a
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: possibly sad story or bizarre story, or I don't know,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: she wants a lot of money, So there's always that
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: element as well that's in it. You hope it's not true, honestly,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I hope nobody got sexually assaulted and nobody got sexually harassed,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: but you don't know that that's not true. So that's
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: probably what's going to happen in my short legal career. Hey,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: thanks for clarifying that. That's not really clarifying. It's me
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: give him. There's interpretation of a version based on any
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: India's I've had to give people. You read the story
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: and I'm like, I don't know what a lot of
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: these words mean. Well, I'm glad you asked about what
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: India was. Yeah, it's common. Yes, you are lost, Kevin.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: It's really clarification Mine is on now. Jaguars wide receiver
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley just got reinstated this week, and he came
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: out with a column on the Player's Tribune. I don't
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: know if you guys did at all. I thought it
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: was awesome. If you have not admitting, like really come
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: in like, yeah, like my bad I did wrong? Yeah,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: highly recommend you read it. All about his upbringing and
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: then I didn't even know his house got broken into
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: when he was in the NFL, and that's why he
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: kind of got down on protecting his wife and his kids. Like,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: how can you not love that? So if you haven't
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: read that, I highly recommend it. It's just you don't
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: know what you don't know, so stop acting like you
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: know what you don't really know. In general, that's good
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: stuff like in general, we all do it. I do
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: it too, we all Oh, I know. It's another example
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: if you have no idea what's happened to with folks
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: except for what they're showing you or what other people
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: are showing you that sometimes I don't even want shown.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: You have no idea. You have no idea what's happened
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: in Eddie's life except what he's given you. You have
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: no idea everything you know, but yes, you don't know
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: what you don't know. When I read that too, and
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: I was like, one, he did not try to run
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: away from any fault, right because he gambled. Right, That's
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: what it was. Did you get bust a gamp? That's
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: why he was suspended on an app too. And his
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: name was like Calvin Early sixty eight, and it's like, well,
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: if we fat that's your name. It really wasn't that,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: but it was. Um. So yeah, you just don't know
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: what you don't know, and stop acting like you do
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: because it's hurt fault to people when you do that. UM.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: And I tried to be better at that. I'm not
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: perfect at it. You know. What I really go back
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: to is the Duke Lacrosse rape story man so many times,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: and that's been so long. They were if this are
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: raided because of what was supposedly them raping a girl
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: and turns out it wasn't true, and they were their
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: lives were turned up. And I think about that a
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: lot whenever we talk about stories like this, where it's like, sure,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: O opinions on what I think of? That my instinct,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: But my instinct stupid when it comes to stuff I
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: don't know. So it mente Tea was crazy for me too.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I saw the Netflix show and I was like, I
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: hated that. I was like making all those jokes about
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: that too. Michael Irvan's going through a lot right now too.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: And they've seen the videos. Lawyers saw the video and
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: it's like, show the video we got, we did nothing wrong. Now.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: I haven't seen the video, and that could also just
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: being his lawyer posturing. I don't know either way, but
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: the lawyers like, I saw the video and nothing to
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: see here, let's go so, yeah, you don't know what
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: you don't know, Stop acting like you do, Coleman. My
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: final thought is if there is an oaru with Saint
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Peter's a Florida Gulf coast in this NCA tournament. It
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: is the Colgate Raiders. I watched them punch their ticket
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: to the NCAA Tournament last night. They are a veteran team.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: They moved the basketball ridiculously well. There has been no
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: team that I have had more fun watching in this
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: entire journey than the Colgate Raiders because of their unselfishness,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: the way they move it, and the way they shoot
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: the basketball. They are a dangerous fifteen forty fourteen seed
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: for any two or three. So say it again there,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: who who is it? The Colgate Raiders? Making sure we
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: get this on file here because the last time put
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: all that money on Marshall me too, man, No, I'm
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: just say I didn't. But Coleman did give you four
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: bets and one day on this show, and all four
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: of those suckers hit. I made a ton of money. Burman, Baby,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: let's go. He was like Palot. He was like him too.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: Quinn he hit. He said they're gonna cover Mine is
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: four and a half. He said they're gonna win by seven,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: eight or nine. The margin. He nailed the mark. He
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: nailed every part of the game, and he went four
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: four in the him. The next I said, give me another.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: He goes. I just want to retire one hundred percent.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I said. I respect that Quinn. He out on top.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: He even hit that the final score combined score would
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: end in an odd number. We'll half yeah better wrong,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: that's me messing up. But he still hit it. That's crazy. Okay,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: thank you, Coleman. Final thought for me, I've got into
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: this um survivor like the NFL league that I did,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: where you pick a team every week and you move along. Yes,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: so I got into this again. And each entry was
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: one hundred bucks and about five entries. But it only
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: happens when the nc doable a tournament starts, and so
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: you can pick a team and if they win, you
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: move on, but you can never pick that team again
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: for the whole tournament. Now, if you guys want to
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: get in with me on one of my selections, I
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: will let you for fifty bucks and then we can
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: pick together. But just we could do one. We could
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: do all three of us, we could all we just
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: do one as a group for thirty three bucks. Eat.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: If we can just agree on one, Yeah, we'll agree
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: on one and we'll do that the whole time. That's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: what you want to do? Do you want to do that. Yes,
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: I love Okay, all right, so I'll do that. Whenever
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: the picks come out, we'll decide and we'll do that,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: and then we'll make eight more smiles than frowns. If
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Arkansas makes it, is it gonna be Arkansas? It's up
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: to you. Um. Yeah, it's gonna be hard to argue
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: once you can only pick them once, you can't pick
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: them again. Okay, same thing. Yeah, So if you pick uh,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: North Carolina and they win, where you can never pick
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: North Carolina again regardless how far they go. So there's that, Quinn,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: give us a final thought for the day. Final thought,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: I'm glad to be in Nashville hanging out with my boys.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Glad y'all treating me with a lot of hospitality. And
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: I'm glad y'all are coming to Bridge Stone Arena. Nice
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: to watch those Arkansas Razorbacks play. So that's my final thought.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: My final thought is with y'all in the stands, we
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: have a chance to advance, and uh that's what I
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: hope happens. Quinn, Hey, thank you for getting us those tickets.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Why do you do that? All right? Thank you guys
