- 0:16Speaker 1: Well, thank you, big dog, Thank you man. N it's chilling.
- 0:18Speaker 1: What's going on, man, Just working on some new music.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Man got new album coming out November third Man at
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Window, So it just started to come out here
- 0:26Speaker 1: and hang out with you man and talk about it. Man.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Yes, it's crazy because, like you we were just talking
- 0:31Speaker 2: a little bit, you guys, Like you know, I talked
- 0:34Speaker 2: to Bash a lot, and He's like, I'm busier now
- 0:37Speaker 2: than I've been my whole career. Like you guys. I
- 0:40Speaker 2: feel like every weekend I see you guys doing like
- 0:43Speaker 2: three or four shows together.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And I feel that too, man, even me, I'm more
- 0:47Speaker 1: busy this time than I ever was before too. And
- 0:50Speaker 1: it's just different this time, and I appreciate it more so,
- 0:53Speaker 1: like going out there and making the people happy and everything.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So it's been a really good giant man. So yeah, me,
- 0:58Speaker 1: Bash and Magic been doing these shows for the past
- 1:00Speaker 1: like four years, and uh, and just rocking them. Man,
- 1:02Speaker 1: you know what I mean, what.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Do you what do you attribute to that? Do you
- 1:05Speaker 2: think it's like people? Because I think like music has
- 1:07Speaker 2: kind of been a weird place where, like, you know,
- 1:09Speaker 2: we don't have a perfect example, Like a lot of
- 1:12Speaker 2: tours this past summer got canceled, but the ones that
- 1:15Speaker 2: didn't get canceled were like fifty Cents Tour and with
- 1:18Speaker 2: Khalifa and Snoops Tour. I feel like, for whatever reason,
- 1:21Speaker 2: like if you're coming from a certain era, like the fans,
- 1:25Speaker 2: I kind of missed that ship. Because the current music
- 1:27Speaker 2: is it's a little it's a little microwaveable if you will.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I mean, I like a little bit of everything. Man.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But I know who would have thought that back in
- 1:34Speaker 1: the days we would write that kind of music that
- 1:36Speaker 1: would last, you know, as long as it has man,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and hopefully it lasts forever, you know what I mean.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But to be a part of that is really really dope.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And and the fact that me and Fingers wrote a
- 1:46Speaker 1: song called Summer Nice to kind of blew the hell
- 1:47Speaker 1: up and and uh, yeah, that's what I've been surviving
- 1:51Speaker 1: off for a long time. Dog has been good.
- 1:52Speaker 2: That's crazy. Yeah, yo, when you wrote the line right
- 1:57Speaker 2: next to the Pacific to be specific, one of the
- 2:00Speaker 2: hardest lines ever. Yeah, it's a quick to SENI a
- 2:03Speaker 2: little rob like, yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I've heard people make fun of it sometimes, man, like,
- 2:07Speaker 1: oh you put those rhymes together out each all the time.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But hey, man, you know I ue to live right
- 2:12Speaker 1: there by the by the Spacific to be specific. So
- 2:15Speaker 1: that's why, man, everything was written and not not kitchen
- 2:18Speaker 1: right there in my town, sof on the beach.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I was gonna say you kind of like when I
- 2:24Speaker 2: think of San Diego, I mean, obviously recently there's been
- 2:26Speaker 2: some dope dudes out of San Diego, but I think
- 2:28Speaker 2: of you. I think Jail felt me. I kind of
- 2:30Speaker 2: think you guys are kind of like the yeah, the
- 2:32Speaker 2: San Diego guys for you, Like you've been carrying that
- 2:35Speaker 2: San Diego flag for so long, Like why do you
- 2:37Speaker 2: think like San Diego still hasn't really popped yet in
- 2:40Speaker 2: terms of like mainstream hip hop.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I mean I don't really I don't really pay attention
- 2:45Speaker 1: to like what's really going on or why why you
- 2:47Speaker 1: don't hit? I mean, I guess if you just have
- 2:49Speaker 1: a hit record, then it's just gonna It's just gonna happen,
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like even me, like Summer Nights,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I couldn't even stop it. I didn't try to write
- 2:55Speaker 1: a hit record, but it just kind of happened that way.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And I think that, you know, whatever the people are
- 3:00Speaker 1: digging at the time, I guess you know a lot
- 3:02Speaker 1: of luck. I guess too, you know everything.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of luck involved.
- 3:06Speaker 1: With right place, right people and all that. You know.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, I was gonna ask you for you
- 3:13Speaker 2: like seeing kind of when you guys first came out,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I feel like there was like the low Rider circuit
- 3:20Speaker 2: obviously radio supported you guys, there was kind of like
- 3:24Speaker 2: this like very small collective of like Latin art or
- 3:28Speaker 2: Mexican artists doing hip hop. Now I feel like it's
- 3:32Speaker 2: gotten so big to where, like, you know, I never
- 3:36Speaker 2: ever thought that I would like see like a guy
- 3:38Speaker 2: like Paesel Pluma doing like the VMA's right, or a
- 3:42Speaker 2: guy like are you a hip to that Mexican ot
- 3:47Speaker 2: super dope?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Like like I feel like too many of the jams
- 3:50Speaker 1: or nothing like that. But when I have come across
- 3:52Speaker 1: from here way dope.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it just feels like the the like Mexican space
- 3:58Speaker 2: and hip hop. And obviously I don't want to call
- 3:59Speaker 2: paycal Plum hip hop because you're not. But the Mexican
- 4:01Speaker 2: space and hip hop has grown to be like so
- 4:03Speaker 2: so big, Like there's so many like independent artists, artists
- 4:07Speaker 2: getting signed the major labels like and you guys are
- 4:10Speaker 2: kind of like the forefathers of a lot of that ship,
- 4:12Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure people were rapping everywhere, you know what
- 4:14Speaker 1: I mean, like in San Diego, in LA and you know.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I just be like in terms of like there being
- 4:19Speaker 2: like a real like recognition of like guys.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Are able to see it with the social media and everything,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, because back when I came up, it was uh,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you know proper those Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 4:28Speaker 1: There was an empower hip brown as the tribe uh
- 4:32Speaker 1: Spanish fly from the Harbor area that I would bomb.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And then there was like shows like Pocos Pedals locals
- 4:37Speaker 2: who would like you know a little bit later, yeah right,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you would have to like listen like Sunday Nights in
- 4:41Speaker 2: Phoenix and be able to kind of discover all these artists.
- 4:43Speaker 2: But I just feel like now it's like it's like
- 4:45Speaker 2: so big, like you know what I'm saying, Like in
- 4:47Speaker 2: terms of just it feels like there's a real movement
- 4:50Speaker 2: like for you, do you like, are you somebody who's
- 4:52Speaker 2: gotten to the point in your career where you're looking
- 4:53Speaker 2: to like sign any artists. Are you just kind of
- 4:55Speaker 2: working on your own ship traveling.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Kind of know who I was when I signed with
- 4:59Speaker 1: the label, you know, and what kind of a headache
- 5:00Speaker 1: I was to them, you know, but not showing up
- 5:03Speaker 1: the shows and doing you know, they would set up
- 5:05Speaker 1: shows and everything and I would have to, you know, go,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but sometimes I wouldn't even show up for just one
- 5:09Speaker 1: go or call them that same morning and say I'm
- 5:11Speaker 1: not gonna make it after there's been promotion going on
- 5:14Speaker 1: for that show and everything, you know what I mean.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Too much partying, uh nah, just not.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Really wanting to get get on the road. Man. It
- 5:21Speaker 1: wasn't really like a thing to me, you know what
- 5:22Speaker 1: I mean? Right, A lot of bullshit have to pad
- 5:25Speaker 1: too and stuff like that, you know what I mean.
- 5:26Speaker 1: So I just wouldn't end up going and really enjoying everything. Man.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So but nowadays it's very different.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Is that why you said you appreciate it more this time.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I appreciate it a lot more now, you know what
- 5:35Speaker 1: I mean. And it's not for the money, it's not
- 5:36Speaker 1: for the likes, it's not for anything like that. Like
- 5:39Speaker 1: this new album. Man, it's coming back for the fuck over,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Because I've been doing shows
- 5:42Speaker 1: for a long time with Magic and Bash and we've
- 5:44Speaker 1: been selling the mouth man so that they're to check
- 5:46Speaker 1: us out, man, and they be asking me when it's
- 5:48Speaker 1: a new music coming, and I never have an answer
- 5:50Speaker 1: for him.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So but now, no, I do not any features on
- 5:53Speaker 2: the new album.
- 5:54Speaker 1: No, I just saw me.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Man, that's dope. I'm working with Fingers again.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Because yeah, yeah you haven't songs with Fingers. We have
- 5:59Speaker 1: one jam on there might not make it. Man, it's
- 6:02Speaker 1: fun partly my favorite one on the jam, but on
- 6:04Speaker 1: the thing, but trying to clear the sample man and
- 6:06Speaker 1: getting back at us. So we've got to clear that sample. Man.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tough.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so your favorite song on the album might not
- 6:14Speaker 2: make it because of sample.
- 6:15Speaker 1: One of my favorites. It is really like you know,
- 6:17Speaker 1: like repping and you know what, you.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Know, what can you tell tell us what sample it is?
- 6:22Speaker 1: You know what, man, I can't even think off hand
- 6:23Speaker 1: with it. It's hard to fight and oldie.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, oh they're hitting you for sure, they get in
- 6:28Speaker 2: your pocket.
- 6:28Speaker 1: It's hard to find one. I am getting back at us.
- 6:31Speaker 2: I said, oh, they're not even getting back at you.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Now. We're waiting. We're waiting for I.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Said, you just let a flo you know what I mean.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Sometimes you got to just let the sample fly.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see what happened.
- 6:40Speaker 2: You know, there's a guy named There's a dude I
- 6:42Speaker 2: know named Static Selector who's a big hip hop producer
- 6:44Speaker 2: and he puts out albums and I always ask him
- 6:47Speaker 2: because he's independent and all his beats are sampled. Oh
- 6:50Speaker 2: yeah yeah, And I'm like, dude, you must have a
- 6:52Speaker 2: hard time and he's like, no, well that's like that's
- 6:55Speaker 2: like me too.
- 6:55Speaker 1: With everyone's saying their favorite album is Crazy Life and
- 6:58Speaker 1: we were sampling everything and get my hands with break
- 7:00Speaker 1: beats and.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Right now, that's why he's like, dude, we just drop
- 7:03Speaker 2: it and like if we hear about it, it means
- 7:05Speaker 2: music's doing well.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah for sure.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so you clear it later. Yeah, yeah, you know
- 7:10Speaker 2: what I mean. Yeah, talk about for you, man? How dope.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Has it kind of been to like when? Because I
- 7:19Speaker 2: feel like when you and I got into radio in
- 7:21Speaker 2: two thousand and five, and I think the first time
- 7:24Speaker 2: I might have saw you live is maybe like six
- 7:26Speaker 2: or seven. But I was like working at a radio
- 7:29Speaker 2: station in Phoenix when Neighborhood Music like popped off, Like
- 7:31Speaker 2: that ship was like a real wave. It was like
- 7:34Speaker 2: that you had the song Neighborhood Music. Yeah, yeah, you
- 7:38Speaker 2: had to bring out the freaking you. Trying to think
- 7:42Speaker 2: of all your radio singles that we played, those are
- 7:45Speaker 2: the ones that come to my mind better getting by
- 7:48Speaker 2: the God on the radio, barely getting by It was
- 7:50Speaker 2: dope for sure, for sure, And then obviously summer nights
- 7:53Speaker 2: and summer nights. But at that same time Magic had
- 7:57Speaker 2: Sexy Lady, and obviously and be Righters had what they
- 8:00Speaker 2: were doing. Is it dope to kind of be able
- 8:02Speaker 2: to like like be side by side with a guy
- 8:05Speaker 2: like Magic and be like, look how far we've come?
- 8:07Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying, Oh.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we go way back too. Man, We've been
- 8:10Speaker 1: in San Diego because I believe he wanted to sign
- 8:12Speaker 1: me at one point or something like that. He wanted
- 8:15Speaker 1: to sign you yeah, I think so. Yeah, yeah, I
- 8:17Speaker 1: think so, and didn't work together and stuff, and I
- 8:19Speaker 1: ended up working with the same label and we ended
- 8:21Speaker 1: up Upstairs Things out yea Upstairs Records, Yeah yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean Upstairs Records had everybody.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So then we uh, you know, I would go out
- 8:29Speaker 1: to uh. I went to Phoenix to work with with
- 8:31Speaker 1: the Magic and we did California and City everyone knows.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So yeah, we worked together from the get go.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And then obviously even like a guy like Baby Bash
- 8:40Speaker 2: who's kind of turned into everyone's favorite, like high uncle.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was just saying, man, I
- 8:46Speaker 1: was on the way here, I was running a little
- 8:47Speaker 1: bit late, and I was dressing out a little bit,
- 8:48Speaker 1: so I started puffing on the joint that the Bash's
- 8:51Speaker 1: team gave me, so that cherry waves. So yeah, shout
- 8:54Speaker 1: out to Weed.
- 8:56Speaker 2: You gotta you just gotta make sure, you know.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I don't smoke like that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: You got a few, You got a few hours to yourself.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You know, yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So you're high right now.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's a little a little bit good. A couple of
- 9:07Speaker 1: buffs and that's it.
- 9:08Speaker 2: What's your biggest market these days? Like what do you
- 9:10Speaker 2: know is like that one market like no matter what
- 9:12Speaker 2: they're showing out for you.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Well, I say, I would say Los Angelest man. And
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's so big too where you got you could do
- 9:16Speaker 1: a show over here and over here and over there,
- 9:18Speaker 1: and yeah, you like still rock.
- 9:19Speaker 2: There's so many little areas in l A.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure market for me, man. So even
- 9:23Speaker 1: not with you know, hooking up with the Steve on
- 9:25Speaker 1: for this video and everything almost like shone love to
- 9:28Speaker 1: to La too, you.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Know, yeah, of course he's a legend.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, for sure, man. And uh you know talking
- 9:33Speaker 1: about getting stuck like like like it's a Friday, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: in traffic in l A. You know what I mean?
- 9:39Speaker 1: And you don't want to get stuck in life.
- 9:41Speaker 2: He directed did a new video.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he directed the new video. Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Did you watch his Netflix documentary that?
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Him a cartoon that was sick.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah that cartoon? Did these for me? Man?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Twelve did the twelve eighteen?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:54Speaker 2: That's how much was that? What did he did? He
- 9:56Speaker 2: hit you like peak, mister cartoon prices for those?
- 9:59Speaker 1: Uh, I don't remember, math. I think we were just
- 10:01Speaker 1: chilling and listening to some oldies and having a couple
- 10:04Speaker 1: of beers.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I feel like back then mister cartoon could have charged
- 10:06Speaker 2: anything for attaching rappers would have been like.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I think I think it hooked me up
- 10:11Speaker 1: pretty nicely. Man. It was dope. Thank you for shout
- 10:13Speaker 1: out to cartoon.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Shout to mister cartoon.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, been a minute, Been a minute for sure. Step.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I shot the cover for Neighborhood Music.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Damn, that's crazy.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I shot that. So that's back in two thousand and four. Man. Wow,
- 10:25Speaker 1: so we go way back to, you know.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Way back. Are you aware that like people kind of
- 10:29Speaker 2: look at you as like kind of like the the
- 10:32Speaker 2: j Z of Chicano rap. Do you like understand that
- 10:35Speaker 2: like that's because whenever we think about Chikino rap, like
- 10:37Speaker 2: you were the god of it.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Man. Yeah, no, I mean I hear it, man, But
- 10:41Speaker 1: you know, just always just like going to the studio
- 10:44Speaker 1: and doing my thing. Man. So that part doesn't really
- 10:47Speaker 1: doesn't really.
- 10:48Speaker 2: The noise and all the like extra shit doesn't really
- 10:50Speaker 2: come across your radar.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Not really, man. I mean it does, it comes across
- 10:53Speaker 1: my radar, but I don't really like it's kind of
- 10:55Speaker 1: like deflected kind of like a little bit because it
- 10:58Speaker 1: doesn't make it doesn't do me. Oh no, I've got
- 11:00Speaker 1: no opinion on it. You know. Yeah, that's a trip though,
- 11:04Speaker 1: But I don't look at myself like that, and I
- 11:05Speaker 1: just kind of like and I think maybe that's why
- 11:08Speaker 1: the people dig what I'm doing. I don't know, this
- 11:10Speaker 1: kind of.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Works, right, I always wonder coming from San Diego, there's
- 11:13Speaker 2: kind of like a weird like rivalry between San Diego
- 11:16Speaker 2: and La.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 11:17Speaker 2: But and same thing with Phoenix, Like Phoenix in LA
- 11:19Speaker 2: has this big rivalry, especially when it comes to sports,
- 11:21Speaker 2: but like La is always embraced you, always embraced magic
- 11:26Speaker 2: in such a crazy way for you, Like, was it
- 11:29Speaker 2: a little harder for you to be a guy from
- 11:31Speaker 2: San Diego and break like up top in La or
- 11:34Speaker 2: was it like pretty easy just because of what you
- 11:36Speaker 2: were doing?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah? I think it was pretty easy just because of
- 11:38Speaker 1: what I was doing, you know. Yeah, But a big
- 11:41Speaker 1: part of me when I first started was a big
- 11:43Speaker 1: shout out to Spanish Flight from the Harbor area. I
- 11:45Speaker 1: would listen to them, man and always doug what they
- 11:48Speaker 1: were doing with the oldie samples and everything. So I
- 11:52Speaker 1: mean that's kind of like where I started. As so
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know, big shout out to La. I was just
- 11:56Speaker 1: in La music already too, you know. Yeah, but this
- 11:59Speaker 1: is way back in them like ninety ninety, at like
- 12:02Speaker 1: ninety or something like.
- 12:03Speaker 2: That, when the Chargers moved to LA Are you still
- 12:06Speaker 2: like a Charger fan?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Now? I pretty much stop watching football, man. You were
- 12:10Speaker 1: just like it when it was San Diego Chargers. That
- 12:12Speaker 1: was one thing, you know, Chargers, then you got you know,
- 12:15Speaker 1: you got other teams that live at Los Angeles.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I don't can just be so heartbroken. I couldn't imagine
- 12:19Speaker 2: like my football team leaving to like a different city.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Well luckily I wasn't into it that much to
- 12:24Speaker 1: be like heartbroken, right right, right, Okay, that's fairss like whatever.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So now now I just yeah, I don't.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Padres Much's there?
- 12:30Speaker 1: The Padres man.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Who has the best Mexican food San Diego or La.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yah.
- 12:35Speaker 2: We got to stop the interview again and tell you
- 12:36Speaker 2: about our folks at odd Socks, Baby, that's right, shot
- 12:39Speaker 2: to odd Socks man, the most comfortable socks in the world.
- 12:41Speaker 2: They've been riding with us since day one. And let
- 12:45Speaker 2: me tell you something, man, Christmas time is really sneaking up.

- 12:52Speaker 2: twenty percent off at checkout. They got the crazy licenses.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Check out these Naruto socks. Fucking fire a little sponge
- 13:00Speaker 2: Bob socks, you know what I'm saying. How about this?
- 13:02Speaker 2: How about the hall Hi movie socks. They got the WWE.

- 15:10Speaker 1: of dude, like the San Diego taco shops, you know.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I always tell everybody the best Mexican food. I
- 15:17Speaker 2: always look at proximity to the border. San Diego's got
- 15:20Speaker 2: the best Mexican food in my opinion. I don't think
- 15:22Speaker 2: it's close and then it's La and not the place. Yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 2: I always say San Diego is number one.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Though yeah I would say that too, But like I said,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I never I never ate it everywhere, you know what
- 15:33Speaker 1: I mean. So I don't know, you know, if I
- 15:35Speaker 1: didn't hit the right place in that later or something
- 15:36Speaker 1: like that, you know, yeah, I just like blame all
- 15:39Speaker 1: that later or something, you know.
- 15:40Speaker 2: And the best food I've ever eaten is in Tijuana.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Tijuana has the best fucking seafood I've ever had in
- 15:46Speaker 2: my life. Yet, Man, do you ever like, do you
- 15:48Speaker 2: make it over there to get like that?
- 15:49Speaker 1: I haven't been over there for a long time. Yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I used to go to TJ when I was like sixteen.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I got I don't have health insurance. I go
- 15:56Speaker 2: over there and get like you know, oh yeah, see
- 15:57Speaker 2: the dentist.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I used to go down there, man, when my first
- 16:00Speaker 1: record came out, Over the Night and the six one
- 16:01Speaker 1: nine and in Mexican Gangsters. That was in ninety two,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and I was out there outside of and you know,
- 16:08Speaker 1: passing on my records back then.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Yeah, sixteen years old and TJ passed your CD.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, my brother and then went up. I went up
- 16:15Speaker 1: into the show because there was I don't know, I
- 16:18Speaker 1: was performing that night, and it was Kid Froust and
- 16:21Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know who it was, but
- 16:23Speaker 1: they all went in. But I was too young that
- 16:24Speaker 1: one of that name. But that's not my albums.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Man, damn. So your first album was ninety two.
- 16:30Speaker 1: My first it's a single, but just first songs. Yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 1: so first time you actually released any music anything.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Ninety two, Man, that's crazy to set tape in the
- 16:41Speaker 2: record longevity. Man.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying, man, And you can't I mean,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I couldn't plan for it. It's kind of happened that way,
- 16:47Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, but I appreciate it and everything.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Man, So what would be like and everything you said
- 16:52Speaker 2: earlier that you know, you kind of went through your
- 16:53Speaker 2: spouts with the not showing up the shows and maybe
- 16:56Speaker 2: taking advantage of this shit a little bit.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 16:58Speaker 2: For Anny Young up and coming artists for you know,
- 17:02Speaker 2: you've obviously kind of made mistakes that you know, maybe
- 17:05Speaker 2: they can learn from. What would be some things you
- 17:06Speaker 2: would you would advise them?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I made mistakes that I could learn from or
- 17:10Speaker 1: that I learned from, and other people's made mistakes towards
- 17:13Speaker 1: me that that I've learned from, you know what I mean.
- 17:15Speaker 1: So it's you know, never step on nobody's toes. I
- 17:18Speaker 1: don't burn no bridges because you never know. Man, be humble,
- 17:22Speaker 1: but either you are humble that you're not, you know
- 17:24Speaker 1: what I mean. So you can't act like you're humble.
- 17:26Speaker 1: You know, it's either you are or not. So and
- 17:30Speaker 1: just never never burned nobody, man, because you just never know, man, you.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Know, yeah, yeah, never burn a bridge and very.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Keep the word and everything. Man, I always keep the word,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you know.
- 17:40Speaker 2: And you're you were You came early today and I
- 17:42Speaker 2: was late, so you know, you know, and we're doing
- 17:45Speaker 2: this in the morning.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah not office.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Sure, it was not very farm last night till too
- 17:49Speaker 2: in the morning.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So yeah, I just feeling from Vegas last night. Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and then went to go eat over here mama.
- 17:55Speaker 2: How Vegas is always a movie?
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yeah? That was dope at the House of Blues.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Was it you Magic Bash with someone else?
- 18:03Speaker 1: Magic Bash?
- 18:04Speaker 2: Jay Rocks tried to Jay Rocks. She's got a beautiful voice.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I forget a couple of others, but yeah, what's
- 18:12Speaker 1: the film Ofrie?
- 18:13Speaker 2: You guys are doing so many shows together. Have you
- 18:15Speaker 2: ever considered doing like a best of both worlds or
- 18:18Speaker 2: like a West Side Connection type of album where it's
- 18:22Speaker 2: like you Bash and Magic and maybe it's like ten songs.
- 18:25Speaker 1: We're talking about doing some jazz, you know, that would
- 18:27Speaker 1: be crazy. We did a couple of games already, me
- 18:29Speaker 1: and Me and Magic, and uh, we have one that's
- 18:31Speaker 1: coming out on a Magic's album.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I guess well, you guys that did a record like
- 18:35Speaker 2: three or four years ago with that what's that his
- 18:37Speaker 2: name Cucko? I was gonna say Coco Ship, but that
- 18:41Speaker 2: song was fucking raw.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That went pretty big, man.
- 18:43Speaker 2: So that song was that was a beautiful song. Yeah, man,
- 18:46Speaker 2: that dude's sick.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got a beautiful voice.
- 18:49Speaker 1: And that's the thing too, man. I was doing this
- 18:51Speaker 1: soth for Jay Rocks, did something for Spanish Fly I
- 18:54Speaker 1: stick tribe a little leaf from San Diego. Welse uh
- 19:00Speaker 1: uh I throw prestigio they want for them to check
- 19:05Speaker 1: it out. That's a good one man to a banda
- 19:06Speaker 1: you know, So shout out to you guys too, man.
- 19:10Speaker 2: But uh, I just got hit to a new dude
- 19:12Speaker 2: from San Diego. Have you heard of him? I think
- 19:13Speaker 2: his name is a little weirdo. Have you heard of him?
- 19:16Speaker 2: I got heard of him. Yeah, he's pretty dope.
- 19:17Speaker 1: That's good. It's good.
- 19:19Speaker 2: And then there's a god damn it, I can't think
- 19:22Speaker 2: of the kid's name. What's the kid's name from Ocean
- 19:24Speaker 2: Side that's doing.
- 19:25Speaker 1: The old school hollow great guy, yeah, very cool man.
- 19:29Speaker 1: So I liked what he was doing, so hit him up.
- 19:31Speaker 1: But I've done so many features lately where I thought
- 19:34Speaker 1: maybe it was just time to do my own, you
- 19:35Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's dope, man. I like how he's kind of
- 19:38Speaker 2: bringing back that like g funk and he's younger, like
- 19:42Speaker 2: he's like he's just like paying homage and he's doing
- 19:44Speaker 2: it in like a great way and super dope for sure.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Shot to ocean Side, man.
- 19:49Speaker 1: For sure. Seven six zero in the house.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Ocean Side is like a place you drive through on
- 19:52Speaker 2: your way to San Diego, but you don't realize if
- 19:54Speaker 2: you just get off the freeway, it's fucking gorgeous.
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'll be driving through tomorrow.
- 19:57Speaker 2: What is your chemistry like these days with a guy
- 19:59Speaker 2: like Fingers because finger for people who don't know he
- 20:01Speaker 2: had a run like Fingers, Really everyone.
- 20:03Speaker 1: That goes the Fingers man got to good get some
- 20:05Speaker 1: good jams man. So I already knew that he was
- 20:07Speaker 1: the person that I needed to go see.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So he's mainly handling Is it all the production or
- 20:11Speaker 2: a lot of the production on this?
- 20:13Speaker 1: All of it?
- 20:13Speaker 2: All of it, all of it? Man, that's dope. That's
- 20:15Speaker 2: I like that too, Like in hip hop or people
- 20:17Speaker 2: like lock in with one producer, because I feel like
- 20:20Speaker 2: it always makes the albums better.
- 20:22Speaker 1: It needs clean and he helps we write the hooks
- 20:24Speaker 1: and everything. Man, and I go whenever we knock it
- 20:26Speaker 1: out real quick, and then it will add his flavor
- 20:28Speaker 1: to it, and it's it's all to the good, you know.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Yeah, are you guys gonna are you going to put
- 20:33Speaker 2: it out and just see how the fans react? Are
- 20:35Speaker 2: you going to go to radio with this? Or like,
- 20:36Speaker 2: what's what's kind of.
- 20:37Speaker 1: The We got a plan going on, man, which you know,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I wasn't really ready for either, man, because at first
- 20:41Speaker 1: I was gonna throw it out just for the people,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know. So now we're here doing you know, the
- 20:45Speaker 1: podcast thing and just doing little interviews here and there
- 20:47Speaker 1: and just doing it because this is what we do,
- 20:50Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And so yeah, we're gonna
- 20:53Speaker 1: put it out hopefully that the people love it. Man, spumping,
- 20:55Speaker 1: that's one of my favorite favorite things I put together
- 20:58Speaker 1: in a long time.
- 20:59Speaker 2: How long did it take get to record?
- 21:01Speaker 3: Uh?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Just three sessions? We did three sessions. They did eleven
- 21:04Speaker 1: songs real quick, man, you know.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Ship y'all work quick.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I get my stuff already ready in my
- 21:08Speaker 1: head and everything. So when I go to the studio.
- 21:10Speaker 2: And you already have to be. You know, it's crazy
- 21:12Speaker 2: because the new rappers don't do that no more. They
- 21:13Speaker 2: just show to the studio. They play like ten beats
- 21:15Speaker 2: and then they start humming.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah both and I could do that too, but.
- 21:19Speaker 2: So you like to get the beats, have everything ready
- 21:22Speaker 2: so when you get in we're on business. I'm ready
- 21:24Speaker 2: to record. I already got.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Going and everything's ready to go, and I put thought
- 21:27Speaker 1: into my rhymes and you know, make sure they put
- 21:29Speaker 1: together when I'm spinning them right and all that have you.
- 21:33Speaker 2: How many people have little rob tattoos in the world
- 21:35Speaker 2: right now, I don't know, but I've seen a couple. Yea,
- 21:38Speaker 2: I've seen some. Yeah, yeah, that's got to be.
- 21:41Speaker 1: My autograph on the on their skin or whatever, or
- 21:44Speaker 1: just portraits too.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I was gonna say, if someone has a portrait of
- 21:46Speaker 2: your face on them and they come up to you,
- 21:48Speaker 2: that's got to be cool but also a little startling.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yeah that's cool. Well, one chick wanted me to right
- 21:55Speaker 1: on their face, you know what I mean. But I
- 21:57Speaker 1: don't want to do that.
- 21:58Speaker 2: I would have been like this, don't you don't listen?
- 22:00Speaker 1: Thank you? Yeah, yeah, thank you, thank you.
- 22:03Speaker 2: But nah, you don't you don't want to ruin your life? Yeah, yeah, sure,
- 22:06Speaker 2: that's crazy. It's crazy just walking around with a little
- 22:10Speaker 2: rop tattoo on your face going to job interviews and
- 22:13Speaker 2: Ship explained it.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't understand, but that's cool.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yeah, like you guys don't know a little rob this
- 22:18Speaker 2: is yeah what what where's the like? Like the portrait.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Ship's got to be pretty gnarly though, Like do you
- 22:23Speaker 2: like take their information and say, hey, I'm going to
- 22:26Speaker 2: like get you into the show or are you just
- 22:29Speaker 2: like hey, thank you? Uh?
- 22:30Speaker 1: That kind of reposted on my story and so yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: so I never really thought about I do a show,
- 22:35Speaker 1: but maybe that's a good idea. You know.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I feel like if someone gets there your face tattooed
- 22:39Speaker 2: on them, they should get into the show.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah for sure.

- 27:19Speaker 2: like in New York? You know what I mean? Like
- 27:20Speaker 2: that's different.

- 28:24Speaker 2: it every year. But like the peak Lowrider Tour was
- 28:28Speaker 2: so crazy. Every year every rapper had their own like

- 28:36Speaker 2: There was the car show girls every I mean it
- 28:38Speaker 2: was wild. What is like the craziest Lowrider show story
- 28:42Speaker 2: you got? Because those things got pretty gnarly and like
- 28:45Speaker 2: I mean it in a really good way, but it
- 28:46Speaker 2: was it was great.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah, well I guess, uh, I guess low leather show
