  Speaker 2: know who Kenny Simms is, and you know, one of

  Speaker 2: the most jovial guys that you'll ever meet, but when

  Speaker 2: you saw him on the field, you knew he was

  Speaker 2: there to handle that business. And I got a call

  Speaker 2: today that there was some things going on and I

  Speaker 2: had to go over and wanted to check in myself,

  Speaker 2: and it was unfortunate that when I got there that

  Speaker 2: they said that he had passed away peacefully. But it

  Speaker 2: was still one of those things it's really hard to

  Speaker 2: believe because here's a man that lived life to the fullest,

  Speaker 2: and you know, his story is well documented, but he
• 1:26
  Speaker 2: was one of those guys that would definitely give you
• 1:28
  Speaker 2: his shirt off his back. He was one of those
• 1:31
  Speaker 2: guys that really loved Texas athletics. He was pride and
• 1:34
  Speaker 2: joy of Texas Athletics. And I was glad to be
• 1:38
  Speaker 2: a part of his journey into the College Football Hall
• 1:42
  Speaker 2: of Fame because I was invited by Kenny Simms to
• 1:45
  Speaker 2: go to the College Football Hall of Fame with him
• 1:48
  Speaker 2: with his family, my family, and it was one of

  Speaker 2: the proudest moments that I ever got a chance to

  Speaker 2: see him be recognized for his excellence.

  Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, he also started a scholarship program

  Speaker 2: for the women's basketball team. He was really proud of

  Speaker 2: the women's athletics. Him and Jody Conrad were really good friends,

  Speaker 2: and he did everything. Him and Chris Plonsky, they always
• 3:22
  Speaker 2: did something for the ladies. And you know, as I said,

  Speaker 2: he's a gentle giant, but he was more than that.

  Speaker 2: I mean, he was so intelligent and was always helping
• 3:32
  Speaker 2: and giving back and trying to support the kids. And

  Speaker 2: and he's definitely gonna be missed. I know, I speak
• 3:40
  Speaker 2: for a lot of people that know him. My family

  Speaker 2: is hurting today because we lost a great man. And

  Speaker 2: not only that, he was more of a mentor to

  Speaker 2: me about this business that we're in right now, because

  Speaker 2: he was a guest host on so many people.

  Speaker 1: But you brought him out to the NFL Draft party

  Speaker 1: and that was say, that was a great show. We

  Speaker 1: had a lot of fun last April.

  Speaker 2: Week, right, we had that. And then you know, you

  Speaker 2: talk about Brian Jones and Derek Johnson and and and

  Speaker 2: Norm Watkins, guys that he mentored, and then you can

  Speaker 2: go all the way back to Stony Clark and all

  Speaker 2: those guys. But it was more than just the football

  Speaker 2: part of it. It was the life aspect that he

  Speaker 2: brought to everybody every single day. And I, you know,

  Speaker 2: I had I had to make that call to uh

  Speaker 2: a lot of his friends and and it was one
• 4:27
  Speaker 2: of the hardest calls that I had to make. And

  Speaker 2: I had to make that call for our our late

  Speaker 2: great friends Shawn Adams as well. And it's just one
• 4:35
  Speaker 2: of those things that when you lose guys like that,

  Speaker 2: you know Shawn Adams and the the the Kenneth Simms
• 4:42
  Speaker 2: not you don't. You're not the only one hurting. It's
• 4:45
  Speaker 2: the people that admired him as well, So you don't
• 4:48
  Speaker 2: know all those other people that had a relationship to
