- 0:00Speaker 1: Pink, sober, something I'm not. 106.7 Light FM, Cubby and Christine,
- 0:04Speaker 1: producer Kristen. I'm kidding. I'm actually sober. I did have
- 0:06Speaker 1: a beer last night. Okay. I had a Guinness. You
- 0:08Speaker 1: know where I went last night?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Where?
- 0:10Speaker 1: For the first time in about 20 years, hula hands.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Oh, hula hands.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Yeah. We were talking about hula hands off the air yesterday,
- 0:17Speaker 1: but there are not many around, I feel.
- 0:18Speaker 2: There's not. No.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And Naomi, my six-year-old, has a German class in Holmdel,
- 0:23Speaker 1: New Jersey. It's every Monday from 4.30 to 6.30. So
- 0:26Speaker 1: I had two hours to kill. So I got on
- 0:29Speaker 1: my phone. I said, places to eat near me. And
- 0:31Speaker 1: a hula hands popped up. I said, you know what?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm going to go. And can I tell you, as
- 0:35Speaker 1: I ate there, I was so depressed. Why? Because it
- 0:38Speaker 1: reminded me, I ate so often there when I was single. Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It reminded me like when I was kind of in
- 0:44Speaker 1: my downtime.
- 0:45Speaker 2: And were you feeling like you were single again? Because.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 0:48Speaker 2: You had no company.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And I texted Kristen a picture of hula hands because
- 0:52Speaker 1: she's a hula hands fan. And she's like, and I
- 0:54Speaker 1: told her the same thing. Yeah. I'm enjoying it. I'm
- 0:56Speaker 1: kind of having a nostalgic feel right now. And I'm
- 0:59Speaker 1: also kind of sad because I ate so often here
- 1:01Speaker 1: by myself. And she said, but this time you have
- 1:04Speaker 1: a family to go home to. So you know what?
- 1:06Speaker 1: You're right.
- 1:07Speaker 2: See, Kristen's good.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I'll take another Guinness.
- 1:09Speaker 2: She's a good therapist.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And I was talking to the bartender. He said there's
- 1:13Speaker 1: only a few locations left. Brick, Holmdel, which is where
- 1:16Speaker 1: I was at, Paramus, Ramsey, and the one in Secaucus,
- 1:20Speaker 1: which was apparently the most busiest one ever, is closed now. Oh.
- 1:24Speaker 2: It closed?
- 1:24Speaker 1: He said during the snow last year, the roof collapsed
- 1:27Speaker 1: and they never came around to fix it. Wow. And
- 1:30Speaker 1: they never had the budget or something, but that one
- 1:31Speaker 1: apparently is no longer operational.
- 1:33Speaker 2: That used to be one of the ones I would
- 1:35Speaker 2: go to.
- 1:35Speaker 1: That was a go-to. That was near you. Yeah.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So anyway, hula hands, you brought back some memories. The
- 1:41Speaker 1: food was great. I don't mean to bring you down
- 1:42Speaker 1: because I was depressed, but yeah, it did bring back
- 1:45Speaker 1: because the decor was the same and the people that
- 1:48Speaker 1: were there, like.
- 1:48Speaker 2: The- Like it's like walking back in time a little
- 1:50Speaker 2: for us.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit. Well, we're walking into the future.
- 1:54Speaker 1: As we prepare for fall. Yes. It's not officially fall.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Not till 8.05 tonight.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:59Speaker 1: But you, my friend, Kristi Nagy, have declared it by
- 2:02Speaker 1: what you're wearing.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I am wearing official attire, my pumpkin spice season sweatshirt,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and my Uggs.
- 2:11Speaker 1: There.
- 2:11Speaker 2: It's fall.
- 2:12Speaker 1: That's fall right there.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Boom. Don't even look at the calendar or the clock
- 2:16Speaker 2: ticking down on summer. It's now officially fall.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It's done. And what did the hubby think of that outfit?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Is it hubby approved?
- 2:23Speaker 3: No.
- 2:24Speaker 1: No.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It is not, Cubby. It's not. So, you know, like
- 2:28Speaker 2: I always joke, I'm like a kid. I lay out
- 2:29Speaker 2: my clothes the night before because we get up so early.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I do the same.
- 2:32Speaker 2: So I was kind of taking this out because now
- 2:34Speaker 2: I'm looking for sweaters and that sort of thing. And
- 2:36Speaker 2: I held it up for Eric and I said, oh,
- 2:39Speaker 2: look at this. I should wear this tomorrow. And I
- 2:41Speaker 2: just saw his face like, oof. And I said, what, what? Anyway,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and he knew he was like, he was caught. He's like, um.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'm doing a face plant right now.
- 2:49Speaker 2: He's going, should I say what I'm supposed to say
- 2:53Speaker 2: or do I have an opinion?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Doesn't a partner know to keep his mouth shut? His mouth.
- 2:56Speaker 2: That's what I would have done. But he doesn't have
- 2:58Speaker 2: poker face.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Oh, so he really, he said it with his face.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yes, it was his expression. I said, well, now that
- 3:04Speaker 2: I've seen your expression, you might as well tell me.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I don't like it. Well, why don't you like it?
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't know. I just, I don't like it. I'm like, well,
- 3:13Speaker 2: it's like, not like, serious, you know, it's like, it's
- 3:15Speaker 2: a fun, Hey, it's fall sweatshirt.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Would you be open to doing a picture and have
- 3:21Speaker 1: a social, you know, vote on it?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh, well, yeah. I don't know if I want to
- 3:26Speaker 2: leave myself open.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Because one negative comment will bring us down. Right. I'm
- 3:30Speaker 1: the same way.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Many on Eric's side.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It's very cute. Again.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It's just meant to be playful and light.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Pumpkin spices and sweatshirt.
- 3:38Speaker 2: The Uggs. And Uggs. And like my coffee means fall.
- 3:41Speaker 1: All you need is a good autumn song, which there
- 3:43Speaker 1: are not enough of.
- 3:44Speaker 2: There's not.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I went online and one that popped up was by
- 3:48Speaker 1: Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Autumn in New York. Here
- 3:51Speaker 1: we go. This is for Eric, your future hubby, who's
- 3:54Speaker 1: a jazz guy. Yeah, he is. Well, not really. He's
- 3:56Speaker 1: a drummer, but he likes jazz.
- 3:58Speaker 2: This is beautiful. But I can.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Hear him playing in the background. Why does it seem.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Do you know this song? Because I didn't remember it.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Of course. Sorry, it's a standard.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I do think, though, there are not enough songs about
- 4:21Speaker 1: fall and autumn. And if you want to make money,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you put a song out about autumn and fall. Because
- 4:25Speaker 1: yesterday we played September, of course, by Earth, Wind & Fire.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Oh, that's such a good one.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I did put this in there for you.
- 4:31Speaker 2: This is Taylor Swift's Cardigan, which is... I love this.
- 4:36Speaker 1: This is fall-like. If you have a good fall or
- 4:38Speaker 1: autumn song, hit us up at 44363.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Autumn Leaves by Nat King Cole, I know, is a
- 4:46Speaker 3: good one.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And don't forget Taylor's adorable video when it's time for fall.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I hope somebody posts it and I'll repost it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Talking about the outfit and breaking out the leggings and
- 5:05Speaker 1: all that.
- 5:06Speaker 2: She's like, and plaid and burgundy.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 2: She goes through the whole thing.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Fall is here, and it feels like it. Cloudy today, chilly,
- 5:13Speaker 1: and a high of 64. It's Light FM.
- 5:16Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Covey and Christine's.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Two pretty cool things. I feel weird doing a cool
- 5:29Speaker 1: thing about a disaster, but it has an interesting story
- 5:32Speaker 1: behind it. All right, the Hindenburg. Yeah. We all remember
- 5:35Speaker 1: the footage. Yes.
- 5:37Speaker 3: 1937.
- 5:37Speaker 1: It was destroyed in New Jersey when it was coming
- 5:39Speaker 1: in for a landing. The Hindenburg blimp.
- 5:43Speaker 2: That's, oh, the humanity, right?
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:44Speaker 2: That one, yeah.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That famous radio call. Amazingly, though, an unopened bottle of
- 5:49Speaker 1: beer survived the famous disaster. It's going up for auction
- 5:53Speaker 1: in England, and it's apparently going to sell for up
- 5:55Speaker 1: to $ 8, 000. Whoa. The bottle of Lowenbrau Lager is one
- 6:00Speaker 1: of only six known to survive the fire. What happened was, Christine,
- 6:03Speaker 1: a local fire chief pulled the six-pack from the wreck,
- 6:06Speaker 1: buried it to hide it from the police, later dug
- 6:09Speaker 1: it up to share with his team. The green bottle
- 6:12Speaker 1: still has its original fire damage label and liquid inside. Wow.
- 6:15Speaker 1: And auction experts warn that while it's a rare piece
- 6:19Speaker 1: of history, the nearly 90-year-old beer is completely undrinkable.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Right. Right. But crazy out of that disaster of the Hindenburg, that,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and again.
- 6:30Speaker 2: That is crazy.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I remember seeing that footage young in history class.
- 6:34Speaker 2: It didn't affect you deeply?
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yes. It affected me. It's like, whoa, my God. It
- 6:37Speaker 1: was in Life Magazine. I remember that picture. Horrible. And
- 6:41Speaker 1: right in our backyard. But there you go with that beer.
- 6:43Speaker 1: What do you have as a cool thing, Christine?
- 6:44Speaker 2: It's a little more lighthearted. Back to Starbucks. I know
- 6:47Speaker 2: we talk about Starbucks a lot, but- They have been
- 6:50Speaker 2: named by nutritionists, dieticians, as their favorite fast food chain
- 6:54Speaker 2: because you've got some options if you're running into Starbucks
- 6:57Speaker 2: and you need to get food on the go. Dietician-approved
- 7:01Speaker 2: orders include the unsweetened roll and steel oatmeal, egg bites, spints,
- 7:10Speaker 2: feta and egg white wrap, egg and cheddar protein box,
- 7:15Speaker 2: and fresh fruit. And they said when it comes to drinks,
- 7:18Speaker 2: they suggested the unsweetened cold brew iced tea or a
- 7:21Speaker 2: sugar-free vanilla protein latte.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I used to get that protein box a lot. Remember
- 7:26Speaker 1: that Starbucks we had in our old building in Tribeca?
- 7:28Speaker 1: They always had that. I loved it. Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: And fruit.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And fruit. Right, right. All right. Cool things right here
- 7:32Speaker 1: on Light FM.
- 7:33Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Time for Tech Talk on Light FM. It's Cubby, Christine,
- 7:41Speaker 1: producer Kristen. We're talking about our phones off the air. Mm-hmm.
- 7:45Speaker 1: iOS 27.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Doing the updates. Is it slowing your phone down? Because
- 7:49Speaker 2: it is for us, but that's supposedly short-lived, according to Apple.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to pay attention to that. You told
- 7:55Speaker 1: me that, and I think I did notice the battery
- 7:58Speaker 1: might be trickling down quicker. But you said, like you
- 8:01Speaker 1: just said.
- 8:02Speaker 2: After a few days, it should balance out. Otherwise, it's
- 8:05Speaker 2: Apple saying, time for you to get a new phone.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Right. But we have a couple of things that are problematic.
- 8:10Speaker 1: What's really cool about iOS 27, and you have the
- 8:12Speaker 1: first one, and then I have one too. Okay.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Well, I think this one could save the day because
- 8:17Speaker 2: there is an anniversary reminder on call for you.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Save a lot of guys' days.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes, it would. So you go into your contacts app,
- 8:25Speaker 2: you enter anniversary or any important dates, and then when
- 8:29Speaker 2: you go on a certain day to contact that person,
- 8:32Speaker 2: it says, reminder, you and Coco are celebrating your anniversary today,
- 8:36Speaker 2: like that kind of thing.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean, I hope to never forget.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:40Speaker 1: The longer you're married, time goes by faster. It creeps
- 8:43Speaker 1: up on you quicker. Yes.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure you could do that with birthdays
- 8:46Speaker 2: and everything.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So if you have the new iOS 27,
- 8:51Speaker 1: there's a feature that's off by default right now, but
- 8:54Speaker 1: they're saying you should probably turn it on. It's really cool.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It can help detect when you might be getting pulled
- 8:59Speaker 1: into a impersonation scam. Oh. So it's not guaranteed. Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 1: But again, it's off by default. If you're running iOS 27,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you want to go to Settings. Privacy and security. And
- 9:11Speaker 1: then you'll notice impersonation risk detection. Wow. And it says
- 9:17Speaker 1: it's not going to magically stop every scam. But if
- 9:20Speaker 1: your phone can give a supported app another signal that
- 9:24Speaker 1: something looks suspicious before you make a payment or maybe
- 9:27Speaker 1: change important account information, it'll like warn you. And unfortunately,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I have a lot of senior friends that and my dad, too.
- 9:35Speaker 1: They've come darn close to getting scammed.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Because the impersonation phishing things or whatever.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Oh, they're getting really good.
- 9:41Speaker 1: They're getting better and better.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I know.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So, again, if you have iOS 27, you go to Settings,
- 9:47Speaker 1: Privacy and Security, and then click Impersonation Risk Detection. That's
- 9:52Speaker 1: going to be off. But if you want to use it,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you want to turn that on. And, again, it might
- 9:56Speaker 1: help with impersonation scams. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Really good. I think this one sounds excellent too. There's
- 10:02Speaker 2: a new feature that's called call context. So this tool
- 10:08Speaker 2: pulls up relevant information like flight details from email. So
- 10:13Speaker 2: while you're on a call, like say you're calling an
- 10:14Speaker 2: airline or trying to reach out, It knows what your
- 10:18Speaker 2: confirmation number is and it'll just pop up for you.
- 10:20Speaker 2: You won't have to go search.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I love that.
- 10:22Speaker 2: That's really good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Remember a few years ago when you needed a code
- 10:26Speaker 1: and you had to input that code on the app
- 10:28Speaker 1: and they would text you? Yes. Now that shows up automatically. Yes.
- 10:31Speaker 2: So I love that.
- 10:33Speaker 1: It knows. Yeah. Like I'm talking to United right now.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I need the number.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I need that number now.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah. All right. Pretty cool. And you'll need your phone
- 10:42Speaker 1: to call us at seven twenty five. Journey tickets. Journey's
- 10:45Speaker 1: coming to town at Prudential Center in October. We have
- 10:47Speaker 1: your hookup coming up.
- 10:48Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 10:53Speaker 1: All right. If you're a boss and you're in charge
- 10:55Speaker 1: of hiring people, how would this go over in your office?
- 10:58Speaker 1: It's 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. Take it away, Christine.
- 11:02Speaker 2: You're going to a job interview and you show up
- 11:05Speaker 2: with an iced latte in your hand. All casual. So
- 11:10Speaker 2: what does the person interviewing you think? There's a little
- 11:13Speaker 2: debate happening online where a job recruiter is saying, please
- 11:18Speaker 2: don't do this. Because it looks like your interview was
- 11:21Speaker 2: just like, hey, just stopping in between errands.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yes, thank you.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Like you said, really cash. And then it goes like towards,
- 11:29Speaker 2: you know, age has a lot to do with it.
- 11:31Speaker 2: The younger generations are saying, that's ridiculous. You don't judge
- 11:34Speaker 2: somebody over a cup of coffee.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Well, I think we do. It's not the coffee. It's
- 11:41Speaker 1: how it's portrayed as you're walking in the office and
- 11:44Speaker 1: everything is being picked apart.
- 11:46Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 11:46Speaker 1: How you're walking in, your confidence, what you have with you.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I know you don't like thinking about that because it's unnerving,
- 11:53Speaker 2: but it really is what's happening. Yeah, that's what the
- 11:57Speaker 2: recruiter is saying. And, you know, people who have had
- 12:00Speaker 2: more of this life experience are saying exactly that, Covey.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It's the optics. It's not... okay, I have coffee. It's
- 12:08Speaker 2: the appearance that you're giving, that you're just not really
- 12:12Speaker 2: taking this seriously. And they said, you come in and
- 12:14Speaker 2: a lot of times, like it can distract you because
- 12:17Speaker 2: you're like shaking the ice, you're doing things. It just
- 12:20Speaker 2: can pull focus.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 2: And you don't want to do that.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But I wonder if any research has been done on
- 12:25Speaker 1: what if you are going in for a job interview
- 12:27Speaker 1: and you have a cup of coffee and you brought
- 12:29Speaker 1: another cup of coffee for the person interviewing you. That
- 12:33Speaker 1: might go over well, right?
- 12:34Speaker 2: Wonder.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Hey, I hope you like, you know, black coffee or
- 12:37Speaker 1: a nice latte. And then you hand it in front
- 12:40Speaker 1: of him or her and then you can sip on yours.
- 12:42Speaker 2: This is this is hard because when I was doing
- 12:44Speaker 2: a lot of auditioning, like sometimes actors would do that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: They would bring treats for casting people. Yeah. But then
- 12:52Speaker 2: the casting people were like, no. They didn't like it
- 12:55Speaker 2: a lot of times because they thought... It is schmoozing. Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 2: So I don't know. I think it's tough. I think
- 13:00Speaker 2: maybe just go in there without coffee for yourself or
- 13:02Speaker 2: the person.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I think.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Just do the best you can do.
- 13:05Speaker 1: But maybe we're wrong.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And get coffee on the way home.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Right. I think that's the best. But your opinion, please. 44363.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Especially if you're a person, like I said, that maybe
- 13:15Speaker 1: hires people on the regular basis.
- 13:18Speaker 2: You can tell us.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Tell us what you would do if somebody came in
- 13:20Speaker 1: for an interview with a cup of coffee and just
- 13:23Speaker 1: acted very cash 44363 more cubby.
- 13:27Speaker 3: And christine and the great music variety you expect next
- 13:30Speaker 3: on light.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Fm all right 658 tuesday morning christine has everything you
- 13:34Speaker 1: need to know good morning christine.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Good morning cubby the airport's getting back up to speed
- 13:38Speaker 2: this morning because we had an hours-long ground stoppage yesterday
- 13:42Speaker 2: some issues the faa said everybody's got to stop this
- 13:46Speaker 2: was between Philadelphia and Newark Airport specifically affecting JFK and
- 13:51Speaker 2: LaGuardia as well. It is car-free day on Long Island.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I'm just saying, I wish you the best.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Well, you'll get there quicker if you can walk, probably.
- 14:01Speaker 2: That might be.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Compared to all the traffic that's usually happening. Exactly.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And it's probably a good day for that because UN
- 14:07Speaker 2: General Assembly underway and we've got gridlock conditions in town.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I mean, we come in here Five in the morning
- 14:12Speaker 2: and streets were already closed off.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Did you see him towing trucks or trucks were towing cars?
- 14:16Speaker 2: Oh, no, I did not.
- 14:17Speaker 1: That were like illegally parked. They weren't playing around. They
- 14:19Speaker 1: were towing everybody, especially up Sixth Avenue. OK. Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 2: So, yes, heed the warnings. Definitely use mass transit today.
- 14:26Speaker 2: President Trump will speak at the General Assembly this morning.
- 14:30Speaker 2: And he'll also be meeting with Gulf leaders whose nations
- 14:32Speaker 2: have faced the impact as the war with Iran continues. Also,
- 14:36Speaker 2: the White House launching what it calls Trump TV. 24-7
- 14:40Speaker 2: streaming channel on YouTube, updated in real time. The White House,
- 14:47Speaker 2: right now, the press pool is no longer covering President
- 14:50Speaker 2: Trump's events after he barred some outlets from the White House.
- 14:55Speaker 2: In sports, the Giants lost to the Rams 28-6. Did
- 14:58Speaker 2: we also lose Jackson Dart?
- 15:00Speaker 1: We did.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I know he was injured early on in the game.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah. But the good news is it's not a season-ending injury.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It looks like a high ankle sprain, I believe. He'll
- 15:09Speaker 1: be out for a few weeks, but that'll be determined later.
- 15:12Speaker 1: But a lot of people, a lot of Giant fans
- 15:14Speaker 1: were like holding their breath.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Okay. And this is great news if you're waking up
- 15:19Speaker 2: right about now. According to, well, Mother Nature and scientists,
- 15:25Speaker 2: People who are waking up by 6.58 a.m.
- 15:29Speaker 1: 6.58.
- 15:30Speaker 2: That's what we landed on.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Two minutes ago.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Do better in the workplace and have a lower chance
- 15:34Speaker 2: of being depressed, stressed, or overweight. Morning people tend to
- 15:37Speaker 2: be healthier, happier, as well as thinner. So, yay. Good morning.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Applause to you. Congratulations for waking up.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Light FM. It's kind of hard to wake up on
- 15:48Speaker 1: a day like today, though. Cloudy. Dark. Yeah. Chilly. Fall
- 15:53Speaker 1: begins at 8 o'clock tonight. 8 o'clock-ish.
- 15:55Speaker 2: 8.04. 8.04. 8.05. Somewhere in there, yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 1: We'll be counting down.
- 16:00Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Variety from the 80s through today. 106.7 Light FM. Good morning.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I'm Cubby. That's Christine. That's producer Kristen. And that's you listening.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Thank you so much. I don't know if I'll ever
- 16:14Speaker 1: be able to pick up my son Miles again from daycare.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Why? What's going on?
- 16:20Speaker 1: I am really embarrassed. I just want to put my
- 16:22Speaker 1: head in the sand.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Oh.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So remember I mentioned at the beginning of the show
- 16:26Speaker 1: that every Monday Naomi has German class? So I take
- 16:30Speaker 1: her to Holmdel, New Jersey. It's quite a hike. Okay.
- 16:33Speaker 1: But I'm with her from 4.30 to 6.30 every Monday. Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 1: That's until like May. In case you're wondering, I'll be
- 16:38Speaker 1: at Houlihan's in Holmdel. Very nice. Killing time every Monday.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I'll just take the class with her.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I should.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you should learn some German while you're there.
- 16:44Speaker 1: That's actually a great idea. So I usually pick up
- 16:47Speaker 1: Miles from daycare, which is much closer to home. Well,
- 16:51Speaker 1: I didn't pick him up yesterday. In fact, it's been
- 16:53Speaker 1: a while since I haven't picked him up. Mommy picked
- 16:56Speaker 1: Miles up yesterday.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Oh.
- 16:58Speaker 1: And mommy sent me this video as I was in
- 17:01Speaker 1: Houlihan's Killing Time waiting for Naomi to finish German class.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Now, if you can't make out what my son says,
- 17:08Speaker 1: I will kind of recap it for you after it plays. Okay.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But this is the video my wife Coco sent me.
- 17:13Speaker 1: They're driving home from daycare after she picked him up
- 17:16Speaker 1: for the first time in a long time. Miles, what'd
- 17:20Speaker 1: you just say?
- 17:22Speaker 3: Good thing mommy picks me up because every time daddy
- 17:25Speaker 3: picks me up, then my kids laugh because daddy doesn't.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Have any hair. So every time daddy picks him up,
- 17:37Speaker 1: the kids laugh because I have no hair. And I
- 17:40Speaker 1: have noticed them giggling.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You did?
- 17:43Speaker 1: And I thought maybe I was just the fun dad
- 17:46Speaker 1: picking up. Because I'll be like, Miles, what's up? And
- 17:49Speaker 1: then he'll run to me and then maybe he'll make
- 17:51Speaker 1: a goofy face. So I'm thinking they're laughing maybe at
- 17:53Speaker 1: everything going on with the pickup. But little do I know.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm the butt of all the jokes with the four-year-olds. Daddy,
- 18:01Speaker 1: the dad with the bald head.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Are you okay? Did this hurt your feelings?
- 18:05Speaker 1: I'm going to start wearing hats. I went to the
- 18:08Speaker 1: closet this morning before I left work looking for all
- 18:10Speaker 1: the extra hats I have around because that hurts. I'm sorry.
- 18:15Speaker 2: There's no other dads that are bald. There has to be.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Maybe it's just my whole physique between the bald and
- 18:22Speaker 1: I got the little beer gut. I don't know what
- 18:25Speaker 1: it is, but... I thought it was extremely cute. That
- 18:30Speaker 1: is adorable. My wife Coco said, yeah, the four-year-olds have
- 18:33Speaker 1: had you tricked because you didn't know until yesterday. So
- 18:36Speaker 1: all along, it's been this joke for months.
- 18:39Speaker 2: They were laughing at you.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Because she takes them to school every day.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But I pick them up usually every day. And this
- 18:45Speaker 1: is the first time she's picked up Miles from daycare.
- 18:47Speaker 1: So anyway.
- 18:47Speaker 2: You thought they were laughing with you.
- 18:49Speaker 1: They're laughing at me.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Are you okay? Wow, this could trigger some, like, way
- 18:55Speaker 2: back insecurities or something.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You think? You think? That show, Kids Say the Darnest Things?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know where that show is, but
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's apparent why that show is popular. Right, right. Because
- 19:06Speaker 1: kids really do say the.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Darndest things, and I love it. Miles is just being honest,
- 19:10Speaker 2: but are you going to pick him up today?
- 19:11Speaker 1: Hell no. No, I'll be there, but with a hat on.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Love you, Miles.
- 19:18Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 19:25Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 19:27Speaker 1: All right, Christine, with fall beginning just after 8 o'clock tonight,
- 19:30Speaker 1: producer Kristen has put together a list of fall edition
- 19:34Speaker 1: questions here. Nice, okay. So here we go, a trivia battle.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And on Team Cubby, Kim from Morris Plains. Kim, good morning.
- 19:40Speaker 1: What gets you up so early? Good morning. I'm just
- 19:43Speaker 1: on my way to work. Okay, can we ask what
- 19:45Speaker 1: you do? Sure, I work for a bank. All right, well,
- 19:47Speaker 1: have a good day at work. I know you've won before.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Thank you. And you're playing against a newcomer. Go ahead, Christine.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Jason in Kinnelon, right? Jason, how are you this morning?
- 19:57Speaker 1: I'm good. How about you? Good.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Okay. So what do you do for work?
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm currently on my way to Connecticut right now. I
- 20:04Speaker 1: do construction. Okay. Okay. All right. It's a long way
- 20:07Speaker 1: to go. Yeah, it is. Well, I hope you have
- 20:09Speaker 1: a great day at work, both of you. Only one
- 20:11Speaker 1: can win. Kim, you'll get three questions. Jason, you'll get
- 20:14Speaker 1: three questions. Best out of three wins. And again, a
- 20:17Speaker 1: little hint for you, all fall-related questions. So here we go, Kim.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Question number one for you. In colonial times, what were
- 20:25Speaker 1: apples called? Were they A, winter tomatoes, B, winter bananas,
- 20:29Speaker 1: or C, winter plums?
- 20:32Speaker 2: I'm going to say winter plums.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Winter plums is a good guess, but it's incorrect. The
- 20:39Speaker 1: answer is winter bananas.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Where did they come up with that? Okay. Okay, Jason,
- 20:45Speaker 2: here we go. Jason, what was fall originally called? Was
- 20:49Speaker 2: it A, harvest, B, autumn, C, fall of the leaf?
- 20:55Speaker 1: Harvest.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Your answer is harvest?
- 20:58Speaker 1: Yes.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yes, that's correct.
- 21:00Speaker 1: All right, so it's 1-0, Jason. Kim, which of these
- 21:05Speaker 1: is the natural color of leaves? A, yellow, B, green,
- 21:09Speaker 1: or C, brown? I'm going to say yellow. Yellow is correct.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Not good if it's snow, but if it's leaves, it's okay.
- 21:21Speaker 1: One to one. Okay.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Jason, who was the first group of people in history
- 21:25Speaker 2: to use scarecrows? A, ancient Egyptians, B, ancient Greeks, C,
- 21:30Speaker 2: early Japanese farmers.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'm going to say C.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Nope. I'm sorry. It wasn't the Japanese farmer. It was
- 21:39Speaker 2: actually the ancient Egyptians.
- 21:40Speaker 1: But we have a great game going on. We're tied
- 21:42Speaker 1: up 1-1. Kim, here's your third and final question. What
- 21:46Speaker 1: fall month will you see a full corn moon? A, September, B, October,
- 21:52Speaker 1: or C, November? I will say November. November. No, no,
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's September. It's this month.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Jason, you can take it if you guess this one.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Which U.S. state has named apple cider their official state drink?
- 22:09Speaker 2: Is it A, Vermont, B, Connecticut, or C, New Hampshire?
- 22:15Speaker 1: Repeat the question.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Which U.S. state has named apple cider their official state drink? A, Vermont, B, Connecticut, C,
- 22:23Speaker 2: New Hampshire.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Three seconds. I'm going to say Vermont. Nope.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I'm sorry, it's New Hampshire, which brings us to a tie.
- 22:32Speaker 1: All right, well, Kristen, write down a number between 1
- 22:35Speaker 1: and 250. Our fine producer, Kristen, is writing down a
- 22:38Speaker 1: number between 1 and 250. And whoever's closest will win
- 22:41Speaker 1: the game, okay? Kim, what do you think she wrote down? 118.
- 22:47Speaker 1: And Jason? I'm going to say 23. Oh, my gosh. Kristen, control.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Whoa, Kristen wrote the number 22. Way before anybody said anything.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Wow. You wrote down one away. Wow, Jason's closer. Jason wins.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you win.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Kim, thank you for playing. You have won before. That's
- 23:03Speaker 1: a good thing. But Jason wins today. Congratulations. Congratulations. Thank
- 23:08Speaker 1: you so much. Have a great day.
- 23:09Speaker 2: You too, Kim. Call us again. Thank you. And Jason, congrats.
- 23:13Speaker 2: You're going to see Journey Sunday, October 25th at Prudential Center.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Sounds good. I'm so pumped.
- 23:19Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 23:24Speaker 1: You will not believe what we just did. But I
- 23:26Speaker 1: think it's going to happen. I really do. It's 106.7
- 23:28Speaker 1: Light FM. Cubby, Christine and producer Kristen. Three people doing
- 23:32Speaker 1: the work of five for the good of millions. And
- 23:34Speaker 1: we're here every morning and doing our best. In fact,
- 23:37Speaker 1: we genuinely like each other.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yes, we do.
- 23:39Speaker 1: We are family, I feel. And Kristen and I were
- 23:43Speaker 1: having a sidebar about how life is moving so fast
- 23:46Speaker 1: and the kids are growing up quick and We were just,
- 23:48Speaker 1: and then you chimed in, Christine. We were just talking
- 23:51Speaker 1: about how, I think we mentioned this yesterday, how time
- 23:54Speaker 1: just gets quicker and quicker and quicker.
- 23:56Speaker 2: It does.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And I said, you know what? Before time gets away
- 24:00Speaker 1: from us, let's schedule a meetup. Pull out your iPhone
- 24:04Speaker 1: right now. We all pulled out our iPhones a moment ago,
- 24:07Speaker 1: and we have made plans to have a meetup on
- 24:10Speaker 1: June 23rd, 2040 at noon.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And it's in the calendar.
- 24:17Speaker 2: 2040. So when you first said, let's plan a meetup,
- 24:20Speaker 2: I thought you were like, hey, in a couple of weeks,
- 24:22Speaker 2: why don't we catch up and just have breakfast? Nope. No.
- 24:24Speaker 1: 2040. Well, how about the date I originally proposed?
- 24:28Speaker 2: Oh, June 21st?
- 24:29Speaker 1: I said June 21st, 2040. What did you say?
- 24:31Speaker 2: No, that's a Thursday. That won't work for me.
- 24:33Speaker 1: That's a Thursday. Yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Like, why are you picking a Thursday?
- 24:36Speaker 1: So I'm thinking 2040. Like, my Naomi will be 20.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Miles will be 18. Wow. Kristen's two kids, Jagger, will
- 24:40Speaker 1: be 19. And Bowie will be 17. Wow. So we
- 24:46Speaker 1: got to get this in the books. I don't know. Look,
- 24:48Speaker 1: maybe we'll be working together still. I hope so.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But how funny is it going to be in 14 years?
- 24:55Speaker 2: When we get that reminder in our calendar?
- 24:57Speaker 1: You're going to be like, when did I put this in?
- 24:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:00Speaker 1: But you did it, right?
- 25:02Speaker 2: I did it.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I'm wondering how we're getting there. Is it like at
- 25:05Speaker 2: that point, is it flying cars? Is it Waymo? That's
- 25:08Speaker 2: a great point.
- 25:09Speaker 1: How are we arriving? 14 years ago from this year
- 25:13Speaker 1: was 2012. And that seems like last week. Yeah. So
- 25:17Speaker 1: in 2012, if you told me, what do you think
- 25:19Speaker 1: 2026 will be like? I would have said flying cars.
- 25:22Speaker 1: But nothing around quite yet. Yeah. We've got drones.
- 25:25Speaker 2: They're coming.
- 25:25Speaker 1: They may be in 2040.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 1: And where should we go? That's the only thing I
- 25:29Speaker 1: don't have in the calendar.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Well, you just mentioned hula hands.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a new go-to spot. I thought Houlihan's
- 25:35Speaker 1: were kind of closed forever.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But I found one in Holmdel, New Jersey. So I
- 25:39Speaker 1: went last night and it felt like 2006 to me.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Okay. So for that retro feeling, we're going to want
- 25:45Speaker 2: to feel 2026.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 25:47Speaker 2: What feels very 2026?
- 25:49Speaker 1: What would be something that people are talking about right
- 25:52Speaker 1: now that will be probably done in 2040?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Everything is like so Instagram moment quick now.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 2: So that's why I like the hula hands has that
- 26:02Speaker 2: nice nostalgic feel.
- 26:03Speaker 1: But that's the thing though. Hula hands has been dwindling.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Will diners be here? Can we choose like a diner?
- 26:10Speaker 1: How about TikTok diner? That's been around forever. Yeah. On
- 26:13Speaker 1: Route 3? Yeah. Okay.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I go there often.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Saturday, June 23rd, 2040. What time are we meeting up? Noon. Noon?
- 26:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:22Speaker 1: All right.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Noon. We're going to be tired and then I'll need
- 26:24Speaker 2: a nap.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Okay. TikTok diner. All right. So- Who knows what's going
- 26:28Speaker 1: to happen, but it's going to show up and you're
- 26:30Speaker 1: going to laugh.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I'm glad to have it on the book. It's very
- 26:34Speaker 2: positive thinking.
- 26:35Speaker 1: It'll probably be just you and Kristen doing a toast
- 26:37Speaker 1: and talking about the good old days with Cubby. Maybe
- 26:40Speaker 1: stop by my... Can you stop by my.
- 26:42Speaker 2: grave could you not we were not going to go
- 26:44Speaker 2: down this road i'm joking we were keeping it positive.
- 26:47Speaker 1: It's not that far away it's 14 years from now
- 26:49Speaker 1: it's not that far away that's what i'm saying.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Yeah you got some kids to raise you're busy.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'm busy i'll be around don't you worry and and
- 26:56Speaker 1: by the way before we do this giveaway have some
- 26:58Speaker 1: fun guys if you're at work book some plans with
- 27:01Speaker 1: somebody years in advance and just have fun with it

- 27:06Speaker 1: too far.
