Latest / Worldview Matters With David Fiorazo / KEN HAM: Episode 500! The Importance Of Biblical Worldview, Authority (REPLAY)
Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity, no topic, off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Firazzo.
- 0:20Friends and family in Christ, thank you so much for tuning into another episode of World
- 0:25View Matters.
- 0:26And I want to let you know, we're excited to say this is episode number 500, if you can
- 0:34believe that.
- 0:35Makes it feel like we've been doing this a lot longer than we have, but we've got a very
- 0:39special guest.
- 0:40Of course, every 100, 200, 300, 400, we like to have a special guest for these programs.
- 0:46And we've got Ken Ham with answers in Genesis, and we're so blessed to have him.
- 0:52Yeah, there's the website.
- 0:53Make sure to go to the website, answers in Genesis.org.
- 0:57Thank you.
- 0:58You can.
- 0:59Good to see you.
- 1:00Thanks for joining us today.
- 1:01Hey, great to be with you, and congratulations on 500 episodes.
- 1:05That's quite a place to get to.
- 1:07Yes, it is.
- 1:08It is.
- 1:09Didn't think we'd make it, but here we are.
- 1:11God keeps us moving.
- 1:14One thing I wanted to share about 10 years ago, maybe 11, you had a series called Foundations
- 1:22Relevance of Genesis, I believe.
- 1:24That's great.
- 1:25I absolutely love it.
- 1:26At the time, I was researching for a book called The Cost of Our Silence, and I came across
- 1:31that, and I had to keep watching those sessions, because it was so important.
- 1:36One of the things that stuck out in my mind, and we're all going to talk about biblical
- 1:39worldview today, is what you mentioned going on over in Europe in the UK with churches
- 1:46shutting down, becoming bars and tattoo parlors, and other businesses, and the churches were,
- 1:54and you said this is going to happen to America unless we get the church back to the biblical
- 2:00worldview.
- 2:01Could you please share your thoughts on how important that is, even now, 10 years later?
- 2:09When you look at what's happening in the culture, if you go back in history, the whole
- 2:13Western world, once was permeated by, I would say, the Judeo-Christian ethic.
- 2:18Now America was much more Christianized than the rest of the Western world, but really,
- 2:24that came out of the Bible and a respect for the Bible, and so, even non-Christians, basically,
- 2:30most of them would believe marriage was a man, a woman, abortion was killing a human being,
- 2:34that gay marriage was wrong, transgender was wrong, and so on.
- 2:39But that has definitely changed.
- 2:41And we've seen a catastrophic generational loss from the church.
- 2:44I mean, generation Z, even though some people talk about a resurgence of interest in church
- 2:49by generation Z, nonetheless, when you get back to the 1700s, you have about 75-80% of
- 2:55the population went to church, and right now less than 5% of generation Z would attend Protestant
- 3:01churches.
- 3:02So we've seen a catastrophic generational loss from the church, which has gone hand in hand
- 3:08with the increasing secularization of the culture.
- 3:11And why is that?
- 3:12I would say, you know, 80-85% of kids from church homes, from the statistics I've seen,
- 3:19go to public schools, which are the anti-god education system, and they are given the foundation
- 3:25of man's word.
- 3:26They're taught atheistic evolution, millions of years.
- 3:28Those who go to church have been told by the majority of their Christian leaders.
- 3:32Don't worry about Genesis, you don't need to believe that.
- 3:34You can believe in millions of years' evolution, just trust in Jesus, Johnny.
- 3:38But you see, here's a problem.
- 3:40Once you say that, you're saying you can't trust this part of the Bible, you've undermined
- 3:44biblical authority, you've added man's ideas into the Bible, and what's happened is those
- 3:50generations realize, you know, if that part of the Bible was not true, why is the rest
- 3:54true, and if they go, and they leave the church, and then they build a worldview consistent
- 3:59with the foundation they got from the world, and that is the foundation of man's word,
- 4:04which means anything goes.
- 4:06When there's no king to tell them what to do, they all do what is right in their own
- 4:09eyes.
- 4:10So we see moral relativism permeating the culture, and those two are linked, the catastrophic
- 4:16generational loss from the church, very much linked to the increasing secularization of
- 4:21our culture with moral relativism permeating, and it's because the majority of our Christian
- 4:27leaders have not taken a stand on Genesis 1 to 11, they've compromised with evolution,
- 4:32millions of years, and there's another aspect to this, and that is because they haven't
- 4:36done that and haven't taught from that, most Christians I find in our churches don't
- 4:41know how to deal with issues of gay marriage or transgender or abortion, because Genesis
- 4:471 to 11 actually is the foundation for everything, and it's the foundation for all of our
- 4:51doctrines.
- 4:52It's possible to know what we believe, we have to start from Genesis 1 to 11, it's the
- 4:56foundation for marriage, for the family, for life, for why they're sinned, where death
- 5:02came from, I mean every doctrine is based in Genesis 1 to 11, and people haven't been
- 5:07taught correctly how to think, and that is people don't understand that when you look
- 5:14at the clash between the absolutes of God's word, concerning the worldview that comes
- 5:19out of God's word, like marriage as a man and a woman, only two genders, male and female,
- 5:25and so on, and you see the clash with the secular anti-God worldview of moral relativism,
- 5:32people are fighting it at that level, and then they're accused of being intolerant and
- 5:36they're accused of giving hate speech, where in actual fact the battle is actually a foundational
- 5:42one, because ultimately there's two foundations or two religions that build your worldview,
- 5:47God's word, man's word, and so out of that comes two different worldviews, a biblical
- 5:54worldview or a secular worldview, but the worldview clash is actually a spiritual war, it's
- 6:01a battle between God's word and man's word, and sadly many Christians don't understand
- 6:06that, don't know how to fight the battle, because most churches have not taught it.
- 6:10Yes, and believers are not being equipped.
- 6:14Thank you for your constant stand on the authority and the inerrancy of Scripture and Genesis
- 6:201-11.
- 6:22I don't want to run out of time, let's just go right to the end and say, what's the solution
- 6:26can, Ham, because we know there's even a problem with our seminaries in America today.
- 6:31We know that some pastors are not, they're afraid of losing congregants, so they're not
- 6:36going to talk about controversial issues, so I know it's multifaceted, but what is one
- 6:41of the solutions to get the body of Christ equipped?
- 6:45First of all, I say from a general overall perspective, when I say to people, what's
- 6:51a solution with all the problems that we have in our culture, what's going on, the moral
- 6:55relativism we've been talking about and so on?
- 6:58What is the solution?
- 6:59Well, I'm going to say something that'll shock you, David, so prepare to be shocked.
- 7:04Are you ready for this?
- 7:05Ready.
- 7:06The government is not the solution.
- 7:08Now, I knew you'd be shocked.
- 7:11Now, I tell people, don't get me wrong, God ordained government.
- 7:16There's no neutral position.
- 7:17There's no such thing as separation of church and state ultimately.
- 7:21The government is imposing a religion on the culture.
- 7:24It's either built on God's Word or man's Word, and it's certainly the religion they're
- 7:28imposing and legislating today is not built on God's Word.
- 7:34So one of the things that I say to people is, we actually need more Christians in government,
- 7:39school boards, councils who have a Christian worldview, who vote in accord with that worldview,
- 7:44because if they don't do it, the secularists will, and then they'll take over, which is
- 7:47what really has happened.
- 7:49But the solution ultimately, here's what I say.
- 7:54First of all, God gave the solution right after Adam's sinned, and it's never changed.
- 7:59Genesis 3.15.
- 8:00The solution is God's Word and the same in gospel.
- 8:03That is the solution.
- 8:05But we live at a time when God's Word is come under particular attack, and particularly
- 8:10the first 11 chapters, the history that's foundational to everything, has come under
- 8:14incredible attack.
- 8:16And so we need to make sure that in our churches we're equipping people with apologetics
- 8:22to be able to defend the Christian faith, who know what the attacks of today are going
- 8:26to be, who raise up their children equipped with those answers, and we need to be teaching
- 8:31them to think foundationally, and that is to understand, you know, to add the Bible
- 8:35to your thinking, the Bible is a revelation from God who knows everything.
- 8:40And you know, this book is a revelation from one who is head, all the treasures of wisdom
- 8:47and knowledge.
- 8:48He is infinite knowledge and wisdom compared to us.
- 8:50I mean, we know nothing compared to God.
- 8:53And he's revealed to us what we need to know in the first 11 chapters of the history
- 8:56and geology, biology, astronomy, anthropology, that's foundational to the rest of the
- 9:01Bible, to allow doctrine, to a biblical worldview, to the gospel, to everything.
- 9:05We have to start from here and know why we believe what we do, we build our thinking
- 9:10on the Bible.
- 9:11And to understand, sectorists, non-Christian start from man's word, they don't start
- 9:16from out here in the atmosphere, they don't start from the evidence out, they start
- 9:21from man's word, no God, evolution and so on, they have a different worldview.
- 9:26So once we teach them the right way to think, how others think and then equip them with
- 9:31answers, then they will be able to go out there and be a witness to challenge people
- 9:38concerning the truth of God's word and point them to the gospel message.
- 9:43To share with others why we believe what we believe, I want to ask you about a book
- 9:49that you wrote, I believe it came out last year defending God's existence.
- 9:54I think that's your most recent, if I'm not mistaken, an important book, there it is,
- 9:59yes, very important book.
- 10:01Be in, what is it, first Peter 315, always be ready to give an answer to those who may
- 10:07ask for the reason, for the hope that you have, go ahead and share a little bit about
- 10:11that book, Ken.
- 10:12Yeah, this book, the way I describe it to people, I say if you want to be like a Charlie
- 10:18Kirk, but only at a higher level and know how to really defend the faith, how to point
- 10:24out inconsistencies and others, how to point out logical fallacies, how to think foundationally
- 10:30and argue foundationally, how to correctly understand evidence, how to interpret evidence,
- 10:37then that's the book for you.
- 10:38I don't know of any other book like it out there because this book is really teaching
- 10:43you philosophically the right way to think, how non-Christian thinks, therefore the right
- 10:49way to argue and to be able to point out those inconsistencies, even things as simple
- 10:54as when someone says, I don't believe in absolutes, well, is that they absolutely
- 11:01sure about that, because then that just made an absolute, or when someone says, I don't
- 11:05believe in truth, well, then is that a true statement, how could that be a true statement?
- 11:10You know, even things simple like that, but there's much, much more to it than that.
- 11:14But you know, a non-Christian has to borrow from a Christian worldview daily, and you
- 11:21need to learn how to point that out when somebody says something is good, well, who defines
- 11:27what is good, is that your opinion, is that somebody else's opinion, you know, who
- 11:31is your authority to determine what you believe, is it yourself, is that an arbitrary authority?
- 11:38We have an authority, the absolute authority of God's Word.
- 11:42And when people accuse you as a Christian, like they accuse me of circular reasoning, they
- 11:46say, oh, you start with the Bible, and then you go to the evidence, and then you say what
- 11:51we see out there confirms the Bible's history, isn't that circular reasoning?
- 11:55Well, all reasoning is circular, right?
- 11:57And there's really two main circles, if you like, you start from God's Word or man's
- 12:02Word, the point is, is the circle real, does it exist?
- 12:06And because we start with God's Word, which is an absolute authority, not an arbitrary
- 12:10authority, that's the real circle, so to speak.
- 12:14And that's what we need to understand.
- 12:16So Ken, there's a lot of people going to church now that weren't going before the assassination
- 12:23of Charlie Kirk.
- 12:25There's a lot in Gen Z that are more open to spiritual things, they're more open to
- 12:29maybe God, but what kind of churches are they going to?
- 12:35Are they reading the Bible?
- 12:36There's a lot of questions.
- 12:37I mean, people are being a little bit optimistic in the church about maybe a little
- 12:40many revival because of what happened, but yeah, more people are maybe interested and
- 12:45maybe thinking about their lives, thinking about God, but if they're not going to the foundation
- 12:50of the inherent Word of God, and starting there, or going to the right church, and that's
- 12:54now a remnant, a minority of churches in America, they're not going to get what they need.
- 13:00Your thoughts on that?
- 13:01Well, David, I don't know if I'm going to get into trouble for saying this, right?
- 13:06If I say a name or a name of a church, well, let me put this way.
- 13:13I was watching Fox News, and they were going to do this article because I heard them advertise.
- 13:19It was going to be a special item on the biggest church in America and how Gen Z are flocking
- 13:25to the biggest church in America.
- 13:27And I thought, okay, I think I know what this will be.
- 13:30And sure enough, it was the church in Texas and the pastor is Joel Osteen.
- 13:36And they showed all these thousands of people packed in there.
- 13:41And of course, they interviewed various people.
- 13:44All I ever heard was things about positive thinking and giving you a positive attitude in life and so on.
- 13:51And I don't hear any teaching on the Bible as history and the foundation for everything and about sin and repentance.
- 14:03And I don't know, maybe there's some teaching on that.
- 14:06But it's interesting when they interviewed these people, to me, it seemed like they're all saying we're enjoying the experience.
- 14:12We enjoy coming together and so on.
- 14:16And I think that that's what's happened in a lot of churches today.
- 14:19A lot of churches have grown not because they're teaching God's Word, but because what I've seen is more and more in our modern era.
- 14:28A lot of churches try to make the church look more like the world to attract people rather than teach God's Word that can fix and equip them and give them answers and show them we can defend our faith.
- 14:40That's what we need to do.
- 14:41Now, there are some big churches that are standing on God's Word and doing that.
- 14:47I think of even people like Jack Hibbs out in California and there's many others as well and that there's some great Christian leaders who are doing that, like Heidi St. John and many others that we're very familiar with.
- 14:59But the majority of churches and Christian leaders are not standing on God's Word as they should, not teaching what they should.
- 15:07And it's a very shallow surface sort of churchy entity, I would call it.
- 15:12You know, it's interesting at the Arkin County, we have the two leading Christian themes, attractions in the world, the Arkin County of the Creation Museum here in Northern Kentucky.
- 15:20And at the Arkin County, we run conferences through the year.
- 15:22We just had our men's conference.
- 15:24It was totally packed with doing a women's conference in April.
- 15:28And again, this year we have to do two of them because so many people coming and we do a homeschool conference.
- 15:34And so it goes on in a past as conference, but you know, we hear over and over again, we're tired of the shallow stuff.
- 15:41We're tired of the experiential stuff.
- 15:43We love to come and get them meet.
- 15:46And that's what we make sure.
- 15:47All our speakers are teaching in depth, but we're teaching apologetics.
- 15:52We're teaching them how to stand on God's Word.
- 15:54We're teaching them to be bold, we're equipping them for the world that they live in and we will not compromise God's Word right from the very beginning.
- 16:04Praise God.
- 16:05This is Ken Ham, author of Defending God's Existence Answers in Genesis.org.
- 16:11Also, friends, I'm blessed to be right next to him over at Harbingers.tv.
- 16:17Harbingers daily, the biblical news site, they put out a great video site as well.
- 16:22So right over there, Harbingers.tv, if you scroll down, left hand calm, there's Barry Stagdor.
- 16:27There's Ken Ham and who's that Fierazoguy?
- 16:30So that's just such a blessing to be among these great men of God.
- 16:34But when we come back, very short break, we're going to talk about the fact that by the year 2030, just four years from now,
- 16:42the number of deaths is expected to exceed the number of births were in trouble.
- 16:49We'll talk about that when we come back.
- 16:51So friends, you can find this article over at Answers in Genesis.
- 16:55Be fruitful and multiply, question mark, US deaths, expected to exceed births.
- 17:01You know, Ken, some years ago, just hearing the year 2030 that seemed like such a long ways off.
- 17:07And here we are, four years away.
- 17:10This goes back to the Christian responsibility to raise not only a godly family,
- 17:16but to have kids, be blessed, be fruitful and multiply.
- 17:20Go ahead and share your thoughts and your concerns on this.
- 17:23Yeah, you know, right back at the beginning when God made the first marriage and that's Adam and Eve, of course.
- 17:28One man for one woman and then told him to be fruitful and multiply.
- 17:32And so the family is the first and most fundamental of all human institutions,
- 17:36which God ordained in Scripture.
- 17:38And the family is a unit God uses to transfer their spiritual legacy from one generation to the next
- 17:43and to impact the world around, impact with people around for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 17:49It's interesting.
- 17:49When you jump over to Malachi 2, Malachi 2, 15, you know, where the Israelite men were divorcing their wives,
- 17:56marrying pagans.
- 17:57And so God threw the prophet, asked the question, why did God make two one?
- 18:01And it's really a reference back to the one flesh that God made Eve from Adam
- 18:07and you become one because you're one flesh, Genesis 2, 24.
- 18:10And Jesus quotes that in Matthew 19 and Paul does in Ephesians 5.
- 18:15And so the prophet asked the questions, why did God make two?
- 18:18Why do you make two one?
- 18:20And his answer was because he sought godly offspring.
- 18:23By the way, not just offspring, but godly offspring.
- 18:26In other words, one of the primary importance of marriage of the family
- 18:30is to produce godly offspring generation after generation.
- 18:35And when you look at those sort of statistics, you know,
- 18:37let me say something about the secular world, first of all.
- 18:40The secular world is bemoaning the birth rates that have dropped
- 18:45and what's happening then to our culture and concerned about the future.
- 18:50But wait a minute, how many millions a year are they killing by abortion?
- 18:56I mean, here they are bemoaning the drop in birth rate
- 18:59and yet they're killing babies' children by abortion and think nothing of it.
- 19:07That's first thing we need to think about.
- 19:09And then there seems to be a fear amongst a lot of young people today
- 19:13about having children.
- 19:16And you know, some of that fear is because of what's happening in the culture
- 19:19and they're listening to the secularist anti-god worldview
- 19:23say concerning climate change.
- 19:25I've had people say to me, I don't want to bring children in the world
- 19:28because we're destroying the world it is is.
- 19:30Look at the climate change and all the rest of it.
- 19:33But see, the whole climate change religion, and it is.
- 19:35It's an anti-god religion.
- 19:37And it's based on evolutionary assumptions.
- 19:41It's based on atheistic assumptions.
- 19:43You know, if you look at the Bible and people say to me,
- 19:45do you believe in climate change?
- 19:47I say absolutely, there's been climate change ever since the flood.
- 19:50The flood caused massive climate change
- 19:52and it generated an ice age that caused massive climate change.
- 19:55And if you don't believe the Bible's timeline
- 19:57and don't believe the Bible's events of history,
- 20:00you won't understand climate change does happen
- 20:03but it can happen catastrophically.
- 20:05Things can change quickly.
- 20:06They can change back quickly.
- 20:08It's because we live in a fallen world
- 20:10and I've got news for you for people.
- 20:12There's going to be climate change until Jesus comes again.
- 20:15And then there's the big climate change
- 20:16we all need to worry about when he judges everything with fire
- 20:20and everything will be burned up with fire.
- 20:23So that's the climate change we should be really concerned about.
- 20:26So there's a number of issues.
- 20:28The other one is that, you know,
- 20:30a statistic show a large percentage of women in churches
- 20:36and many churches have been somehow or another
- 20:39either supporting or involved in abortion.
- 20:42And this is just shocking and it's very, very sad.
- 20:45But there's not enough teaching from our pulpits
- 20:49concerning taking the right stand on this.
- 20:51I mean, the Bible makes it very clear
- 20:53we're made in the image of God
- 20:55and we know life begins at fertilization.
- 20:57We know some 139 says that when God knitted us together
- 21:02at our mother's womb before he looked at our unformed substance.
- 21:08So even when our bodies hadn't formed
- 21:11and their fertilized egg was building our bodies,
- 21:14it's still you or think of what he said about Jeremiah
- 21:18before you formed in your mother's womb.
- 21:20I knew you.
- 21:22Right from fertilization,
- 21:24we are human beings made in the image of God.
- 21:27And therefore abortion is killing a human being
- 21:31right from fertilization.
- 21:33Now that has to be a foundational principle for our worldview.
- 21:37And it needs to be taught in our churches
- 21:39and we need to be teaching our children
- 21:42so they got the right foundation.
- 21:44As I, you know what I say?
- 21:45I say abortion is really child sacrifice to the God of Self.
- 21:49I mean, that's really what it is.
- 21:52And so even there are even Christians who are boarding children
- 21:55and they're using excuses like,
- 21:57well, they didn't have enough money or,
- 21:59well, I was worried about bringing them into the world.
- 22:01You can't negate God's principles.
- 22:04A foundational principle that life begins at fertilization.
- 22:08Do we have a right to deliberately kill a human being
- 22:11made in the image of God?
- 22:13That's what we should be asking ourselves.
- 22:15But we, you know what, there's also young people today
- 22:18who are kind of saying, you know,
- 22:21we don't really even want to get married.
- 22:24We're going to put it off for a long time
- 22:26or I'm going to put my career first before family.
- 22:30Well, I believe that, yeah, I'm not saying
- 22:32a woman should never career or man should never career.
- 22:35But you know what, there's only a certain time
- 22:38in this fallen world that you're able to have children.
- 22:41And to me, that's one of the priorities of marriage.
- 22:43So we should be putting family first.
- 22:46Yep, in this article, Ken, you write,
- 22:48ideology has consequences in the anti-natal views
- 22:51of the current cultural climate
- 22:53that elevates personal autonomy and freedom
- 22:57while devaluing the beauty and gift of family and children
- 23:01certainly have consequences.
- 23:04It also says in a biblical worldview,
- 23:06children are a blessing.
- 23:08But it goes right along lines with what's happening.
- 23:11In another article, you have, it's a new report
- 23:14that one in seven Christian universities,
- 23:18Christian, now you might have to put Christian
- 23:20in air quotes here, but one in seven Christian universities
- 23:23support abortion industry.
- 23:26This is not the biblical worldview
- 23:28and yet these universities that are talked about
- 23:31in that article are calling themselves Christian.
- 23:33There's little confusion going on there, isn't there Ken?
- 23:37Well, it certainly is, but let me say this,
- 23:39I would be prepared to basically guarantee
- 23:43that those universities that call themselves Christian
- 23:46that support abortion do not take a stand
- 23:48on a literal genesis.
- 23:50Because what I found is once you're prepared
- 23:53to take that stand on a literal genesis,
- 23:55letting God speak to you through His Word,
- 23:58He made everything six literal days,
- 24:00death came after sin, and so on.
- 24:02You believe that history, which is foundational
- 24:05to everything, you're not going to compromise
- 24:07to the abortion or with gay marriage or anything else.
- 24:11And you know, it's sad, there are thousands
- 24:13of Christian colleges, universities in America.
- 24:18And each year we run at the art encounter
- 24:21a creation college where we allow high school students
- 24:23to come in, register free.
- 24:25And we bring in those colleges and universities
- 24:27that do take the same stand we do on Genesis 1 to 11.
- 24:31You know how many there are?
- 24:32It's like 35 or 40, it's hardly any.
- 24:36And one of the sad things is the majority
- 24:38of Christian colleges and Bible colleges,
- 24:41not all, but certainly the majority,
- 24:43do not stand on Genesis 1 to 11 as a literal history,
- 24:47which is why the majority of the students
- 24:49who go through there end up walking away from the church
- 24:52and why they compromise with these sad issues
- 24:58of the day, these social issues of the day.
- 25:00Yep, so we're seeing the consequences
- 25:02of this rotten fruit of not teaching
- 25:04the whole council of God starting in Genesis
- 25:07and the authority of Scripture.
- 25:08But one more thing, we've got two minutes left with you Ken.
- 25:12In the 1950s and 60s, and this is a consequence,
- 25:15it was very important for 70 to 75% of US adults
- 25:21to go to church or to have a religion,
- 25:23basically Christian religion was understood back then.
- 25:26But now it's less than 50% of Americans
- 25:30that consider religion to be very important.
- 25:32So we see that decline going down along
- 25:35with the biblical literacy declining.
- 25:37So these are all things happening at the same time.
- 25:39You're closing thoughts to encourage maybe a young Christian
- 25:42family, young Christian parents, Ken.
- 25:45Well, you know, the admonition from the Lord
- 25:49is that we are to raise godly offspring
- 25:51and I encourage people to make sure that they recognize
- 25:54that there's nothing more important
- 25:56than that your children know Christ.
- 25:59Paul says that very clearly in God's word
- 26:02that everything he counts as basically useless
- 26:06or everything is done so to speak
- 26:11compared to trusting Christ.
- 26:13And the most important thing, the priority for us
- 26:16as parents has to be our children
- 26:19and to do all we can and fathers need to be the head
- 26:22of the house and wives need to be the help me
- 26:25to their husbands to be that spiritual head,
- 26:27to lead them, to teach them in the things of God.
- 26:30Yes, amen, brother.
