- 0:00Speaker 1: Mister New York Mark Simone.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Wr Well, we all a lot to get to this hour.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It was a pretty bad weekend weatherwise. I mean, it
- 0:11Speaker 2: was probably the worst weekend of the winter, even worse
- 0:13Speaker 2: than those big snowfall weekends that I mean. It was
- 0:17Speaker 2: so cold. You just Saturday, just people just hibernated all
- 0:22Speaker 2: day Friday night, Saturday Saturday. Although I talked to people
- 0:26Speaker 2: that went out, there were people out. There were people
- 0:28Speaker 2: in restaurants and comedy clubs, in Broadway theaters and it
- 0:32Speaker 2: wasn't easy though. You know, it was actually colder on
- 0:34Speaker 2: Saturday in New York. It was colder than in Antarctica.
- 0:40Speaker 2: That's absolutely true. It was colder here than it was
- 0:44Speaker 2: there for the probably the first time ever. It was
- 0:47Speaker 2: like fifteen below here and something like five degrees Antarctica.
- 0:53Speaker 2: So super Bowl last night, a lot of people not
- 0:56Speaker 2: coming to work today. They call it miswork Monday, twenty
- 0:59Speaker 2: six billion people either take the day off or call
- 1:02Speaker 2: in sick because of the super Bowl. There's been talk
- 1:06Speaker 2: of making it an actual holiday, a three day weekend,
- 1:09Speaker 2: making it the Monday a holiday. Here's the problem, though,
- 1:13Speaker 2: if you did it, your super Bowl is you know,
- 1:16Speaker 2: right now in February. If you made this a holiday,
- 1:20Speaker 2: this upcoming weekend, you got another holiday, you got President's Day.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Don't forget this weekend. You got a three day weekend,
- 1:26Speaker 2: so you don't want to do two of those in
- 1:28Speaker 2: a row. The simple answer would be, moved the Super
- 1:31Speaker 2: Bowl to Saturday. It's just traditional on Sunday, but move
- 1:39Speaker 2: it to Saturday night. That's really the solution to that.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Restaurants would hate it. A lot of restaurants lose a
- 1:45Speaker 2: lot of money because people stay home super Bowl parties,
- 1:47Speaker 2: that sort of stuff, or if they go out, it's
- 1:50Speaker 2: usually to a sports place, not a regular restaurant. But
- 1:53Speaker 2: that's I mean, well, no, it's better on Sunday. It's
- 1:58Speaker 2: got to be Super Bowl Sunday. Football's on Sunday. Super
- 2:01Speaker 2: Bowl should be on Sunday. So Bad Bunny was the
- 2:06Speaker 2: halftime performer. Now at the so many people did not
- 2:09Speaker 2: want Bad Bunny, or they thought he might get political,
- 2:12Speaker 2: or they were, for one reason or another offended by
- 2:14Speaker 2: his choice of Bad Bunny that the alternative was Kid Rock.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You could watch him online. He did the alternative half
- 2:22Speaker 2: point show, Turning Point USA ran it with Kid Rock.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Many people turned off the super Bowl with Bad Bunny
- 2:30Speaker 2: to go over and watch Kid Rock. Well, it turns
- 2:32Speaker 2: out it was about six million. Numbers still coming in
- 2:35Speaker 2: might hit seven million, but six million. You got to
- 2:39Speaker 2: figure out how many people watch the Super Bowl, Big
- 2:41Speaker 2: Super Bowl sixty million. Maybe ten percent of the audience
- 2:43Speaker 2: turned it off and went over to watch Kid Rock.
- 2:46Speaker 2: It was otherwise a dull game, a mismatch Seattle. I
- 2:51Speaker 2: can't stand Seattle, but the best defense in football. I
- 2:55Speaker 2: like the Patriots, but this team is too new. They
- 2:57Speaker 2: weren't ready for the Super Bowl. It was a low,
- 3:00Speaker 2: sluggish game, not a lot of scoring. Thank god it
- 3:03Speaker 2: finally ended.
- 3:04Speaker 3: That will do it.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Seattle rains above them all in the NFL. The Seahawks
- 3:13Speaker 2: super Bowl chickens for the second time. Here you go.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Now here's the other thing, Seattle Seahawks. They may not
- 3:21Speaker 2: exist next year. The Seahawks may have to move. You know, Seattle, Washington.
- 3:26Speaker 2: It's a crazy left wing state with a woke government.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And they want to impose a tax on the football player,
- 3:34Speaker 2: so big tax. They want to tax them like crazy,
- 3:38Speaker 2: not just the team and the Seattle players, but any
- 3:42Speaker 2: visiting team. So if a team comes to play in Seattle,
- 3:46Speaker 2: which of course, will happen all the time. The players
- 3:49Speaker 2: will get taxed. They're going to hit them with this big,
- 3:52Speaker 2: like ten percent tax. Now, remember these guys are getting
- 3:55Speaker 2: tens of millions of dollars, so it's going to be
- 3:57Speaker 2: a pretty big tax. If they go through with this
- 4:00Speaker 2: stupid tax, I would imagine the Seahawks will have to
- 4:03Speaker 2: move to another city. It's ridiculous. Normally, in the past,
- 4:08Speaker 2: if you want to get a football team, you give
- 4:10Speaker 2: them a tax break because they bring in a ton
- 4:13Speaker 2: of business revenue, all sorts of glory and help your city.
- 4:19Speaker 2: This crazy left wing today's Democrats, and the old Democrats
- 4:23Speaker 2: knew better. But today's crazy Democrats think billionaires. Let's just
- 4:27Speaker 2: tax them businesses. Let's tax them, and they just move,
- 4:30Speaker 2: they leave, they flee. Your economy suffers, everything suffers, you
- 4:34Speaker 2: lose jobs, you'll lose everything. Then you get states like
- 4:37Speaker 2: Florida and Texas. If you're in Texas, they'll give you
- 4:40Speaker 2: nothing but tax breaks if you're a business. So every
- 4:43Speaker 2: major business in the world moves to Texas and the
- 4:47Speaker 2: economy is absolutely booming. Same thing with Florida. And this
- 4:51Speaker 2: is tradition, this is the way they used to do everything.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You know, these rundown Democrat cities, they're in shambles. If
- 4:58Speaker 2: you just call every business in the world say if
- 5:01Speaker 2: you open up here, well we'll give you, We'll make
- 5:03Speaker 2: your tax free for ten years, every business in the
- 5:05Speaker 2: world would rush to open there. Now, of course, you
- 5:07Speaker 2: got mom Donnie here, who may may do this to
- 5:11Speaker 2: New York. He's talking about imposing new taxes on businesses. Hey,
- 5:14Speaker 2: by the way, remember when Donald Trump tried to putting
- 5:17Speaker 2: tariffs on and the left wing went crazy, How tariffs
- 5:22Speaker 2: is going to ruin everything? Well, these are tariffs. Nobody
- 5:25Speaker 2: puts on more tariffs than the Democrats. They call it
- 5:28Speaker 2: corporate tax, but it's tariffs. And if you got heavy,
- 5:32Speaker 2: we have the highest corporate tax in the world right now.
- 5:35Speaker 2: If you say I'm gonna increase it ten percent, well
- 5:37Speaker 2: that's a tariff. That's a ten percent tariff. Here's Mom Donnie.
- 5:40Speaker 4: So the way that this tax works is it applies
- 5:42Speaker 4: to any business doing business here. They could be located
- 5:45Speaker 4: in Miami, but if they're doing business in New York,
- 5:47Speaker 4: it applies to them. And the reason I believe everyone
- 5:49Speaker 4: will keep doing business here is our economy is so
- 5:52Speaker 4: large that if it was a country, it would rival
- 5:54Speaker 4: the top countries in the world.
- 5:55Speaker 2: It don't count on it. You see that. Look at
- 5:57Speaker 2: the lodgy of this big, big tax. If you come
- 5:59Speaker 2: to New York and opening business. Now, if you're somewhere
- 6:03Speaker 2: else and you sell anything here, you're gonna get this big,
- 6:05Speaker 2: big tech. I mean, it's absolutely insane, Mom Donnie. It
- 6:09Speaker 2: turns out when it comes to the snow removal, it's
- 6:12Speaker 2: getting better. That might be the weather more than anything,
- 6:15Speaker 2: but it's a and he has picked up the garbage.
- 6:18Speaker 2: It was a little late, but most of the garbage
- 6:20Speaker 2: has gotten picked up. But you still got those snow banks.
- 6:23Speaker 2: But what happened for two weeks that all that snow
- 6:26Speaker 2: was piled up and it was ridiculous. Well, it turns out,
- 6:30Speaker 2: Mam Donnie failed to recruit enough emergency snow shovelers. This
- 6:34Speaker 2: is what you do in a storm like this. You
- 6:36Speaker 2: got a certain amount of shovelers, but when you're gonna
- 6:39Speaker 2: get a blizzard like that, you need more. So as
- 6:42Speaker 2: a Tuesday, all he had were nineteen or eighteen hundred,
- 6:45Speaker 2: eighteen hundred shovelers. In comparison in previous administration when they
- 6:51Speaker 2: had this what they do is they go out and
- 6:53Speaker 2: they hire shovelers. They put out ads, they blitze the
- 6:56Speaker 2: community with ads. In the past, for instance, two thousand
- 6:59Speaker 2: and fifth, we had sixty five hundred shovelers. Yeah, in fact,
- 7:07Speaker 2: the remember the blizzard back then, they had a big
- 7:09Speaker 2: blizzard thirty three inches. They had thirty five hundred shovelers
- 7:13Speaker 2: at one time, working sixty five hundred total. So we
- 7:16Speaker 2: only got eighteen hundred right now. Again, you got to
- 7:20Speaker 2: go out and you got massive advertising to hire these shovelers,
- 7:24Speaker 2: these laborers. According to the report's mom, Donnie, made a
- 7:29Speaker 2: half hearted outreach effort too late, didn't do enough and
- 7:33Speaker 2: didn't get enough shovelers. And that was the main problem
- 7:37Speaker 2: with all of that. So, hey, the Washington Post, this
- 7:40Speaker 2: is a fascinating story. They're laying off hundreds and hundreds
- 7:45Speaker 2: and hundreds of people. They laid off about a couple
- 7:47Speaker 2: hundred before, now three hundred this past week. The paper
- 7:51Speaker 2: is losing a fortune. It's own by Jeff Bezos. Of course,
- 7:54Speaker 2: everybody is up in arms yelling and screaming about these layoffs.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But but it was the staff of the Washington Post,
- 8:05Speaker 2: the people running it that caused the layoffs. They went
- 8:07Speaker 2: crazy left wing woke, Trump bashing like crazy. Trump derangement
- 8:13Speaker 2: syndrome was way out. It was so far to the left.
- 8:15Speaker 2: There is an audience for that. But you're going to
- 8:18Speaker 2: lose half the normal people. Half of America will stop reading.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So they basically got rid of half their readers. And
- 8:25Speaker 2: then when you get rid of half your readers, you
- 8:28Speaker 2: get rid of half your revenue, half your income from
- 8:31Speaker 2: the subscriptions and all that, and you got to start
- 8:33Speaker 2: laying off people. So they caused the layoffs. They're yelling
- 8:36Speaker 2: and screaming about it. Now, this paper is such a
- 8:40Speaker 2: mess that it loses one hundred million a year. Do
- 8:44Speaker 2: you know that it loses two million dollars a week.
- 8:47Speaker 2: At the end of every week, they're two million dollars
- 8:49Speaker 2: in debt. Jeff Bezos owns it. So at the end
- 8:53Speaker 2: of every week, Jeff Bezos has to write a check
- 8:56Speaker 2: for two million dollars just to keep this thing going.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I know he's a zillionaire, he's worth hundreds of billions,
- 9:02Speaker 2: but every week, at the end of the week he's
- 9:05Speaker 2: got to write a check for two million dollars just
- 9:08Speaker 2: to keep it going. How many years do you think
- 9:10Speaker 2: he's going to keep that up. He's a business guy,
- 9:12Speaker 2: he's a logical business guy. At some point he's going
- 9:15Speaker 2: to wonder why he used to keep writing a check
- 9:17Speaker 2: for two million every week to get it to keep
- 9:20Speaker 2: it going. So that's why all the layoffs. Now you
- 9:25Speaker 2: heard that the big CEO of the paper stepped down
- 9:27Speaker 2: over the weekend. Apparently he was told to get out.
- 9:32Speaker 2: He was in the middle of these layoffs. Last week,
- 9:34Speaker 2: they laid off three hundred people. In the middle of that,
- 9:37Speaker 2: the CEO was out at the Super Bowl, walking around
- 9:39Speaker 2: the red carpet, going to all the parties. Bezos said,
- 9:43Speaker 2: that's the final straw. He just can't take this guy.
- 9:46Speaker 2: He said, that's the last straw with this guy. And
- 9:49Speaker 2: he was basically told to get the hell out. He
- 9:51Speaker 2: lost patience with him. Middle of all these layoffs. He's
- 9:53Speaker 2: out there at the super Bowl. Absolutely ridiculous. The CEO
- 9:58Speaker 2: claims he decided to quit and you know, put out
- 10:01Speaker 2: one of those I want to spend more time with
- 10:03Speaker 2: my family. And if you've seen his family, nobody wants
- 10:07Speaker 2: to spend more time with them. So that's it. Now.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I don't know what what Bezos will do with this
- 10:13Speaker 2: Washington Post, it's pretty much hopeless. He could try to
- 10:17Speaker 2: sell it, but nobody wants. These people don't read newspapers anymore.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Twenty two million people read newspapers in America now twenty
- 10:27Speaker 2: two million. One hundred and fifty nine million listen to
- 10:31Speaker 2: the radio sixty three million listen to AM radio. Newspapers
- 10:36Speaker 2: twenty two million, So it's not much. I don't know
- 10:38Speaker 2: how you could really sell it. The only possible buyers
- 10:43Speaker 2: there is some hint that Bloomberg might want to buy it.
- 10:47Speaker 2: In fact, a couple of years ago Bloomberg was there
- 10:50Speaker 2: kicking the tires on it, So Bloomberg a possible buyer.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It's not a good business, there's no logical reason to
- 10:57Speaker 2: buy it, but you know, Bloomberg is always trying to
- 10:59Speaker 2: create some sort of of a media presence, more of
- 11:01Speaker 2: a Washington presence, so that's a possibility. The other thing
- 11:04Speaker 2: is the Wall Street Journal might buy it. The Wall
- 11:07Speaker 2: Street Journal just looking to expand there, or Washington DC coverage,
- 11:12Speaker 2: they might buy it. Murdoch is about the only guy
- 11:16Speaker 2: who's still really interested in newspapers, so that's a slight,
- 11:20Speaker 2: slight possibility. Nancy Guthrie it's day nine. Now. You know,
- 11:25Speaker 2: she needs all kinds of medicine, heart medicine, blood pressure medicine.
- 11:28Speaker 2: She's got cardiac problems. I've asked doctors if they kidnap her,
- 11:32Speaker 2: she has no medicine. If you're on all these medicines,
- 11:35Speaker 2: how long could you go. It's nine days without her medicine. Well,
- 11:39Speaker 2: they say it it's not good, but you could. You
- 11:42Speaker 2: could last a couple of weeks without the medicine. You know,
- 11:45Speaker 2: they found a lot of blood, trail of blood. One
- 11:49Speaker 2: of the things she was probably taking for the heart
- 11:51Speaker 2: problems was a blood thinner, so that's why all the blood.
- 11:55Speaker 2: It might not have been that much of an injury,
- 11:57Speaker 2: but the slightest little cut you can bleed a lot
- 11:59Speaker 2: when you on those blood thinners. So we'll we'll see.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Today at five o'clock is a deadline, big deadline. Five
- 12:07Speaker 2: o'clock today supposed to deliver the six million dollar ransom
- 12:13Speaker 2: and bitcoin. You know, the old days, you had to
- 12:15Speaker 2: take the money, put it in a suitcase, They give
- 12:18Speaker 2: you a location you drop it off, which meant the
- 12:20Speaker 2: kidnappers had to come pick up the money physically, come
- 12:23Speaker 2: pick it up somewhere. So that was a way to
- 12:25Speaker 2: catch them with the bitcoin. I don't know how you
- 12:28Speaker 2: catch them. I don't know how you ever traced them.
- 12:30Speaker 2: They could already be long gone out of the country.
- 12:32Speaker 2: But we'll see what happens later today. So mayor, mom, Donnie,
- 12:38Speaker 2: and you're saying, why doesn't he do something, Why doesn't
- 12:43Speaker 2: he act? Why doesn't he Well, he's busy with this
- 12:46Speaker 2: is what he was busy with this weekend.
- 12:48Speaker 5: The story of the Hidra reminds us the prophet Muhammad,
- 12:52Speaker 5: So the ala Ali who was seldom was a stranger too,
- 12:55Speaker 5: who fled Mecca and was welcomed in Medina. Sura Nahal
- 12:59Speaker 5: sixteen forty two tells us as for those who immigrated
- 13:03Speaker 5: in the cause of a law after being persecuted, we
- 13:05Speaker 5: will surely bless them with a good home in this world.
- 13:09Speaker 5: Or as the Prophet Muhammed Salila Ale he was seldom said,
- 13:13Speaker 5: Islam began as something strange and will go back to
- 13:16Speaker 5: being strange. So glad tidings to the strangers.
- 13:19Speaker 2: What the hell are you talking about? Just pick up
- 13:21Speaker 2: the snow. What the hell are you talking about? Pick
- 13:23Speaker 2: up the garbage? What on earth are you saying this? Hey,
- 13:30Speaker 2: you gotta blame. I hate to say, you gotta blame
- 13:33Speaker 2: Democratic voters. How the hell did you elect this guy?
- 13:36Speaker 2: What on earth were you thinking? What is wrong with you?
- 13:40Speaker 2: The real problem was Andrew Cuomo got in a race,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and everybody hates this guy. Nobody hates Andrew Cuomo more
- 13:45Speaker 2: than the Democrats. So he got in the primary. It
- 13:47Speaker 2: was it was how it was how Mom Donnie won.
- 13:51Speaker 2: They just it was a lot of voting against Cuomo
- 13:54Speaker 2: and they say, you know here, when you win the
- 13:57Speaker 2: Democratic primary, you win the election. Hey, by the way,
- 14:00Speaker 2: Cuomo is now doing a radio show. You should listen
- 14:02Speaker 2: to this. This guy is so far to the left.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Cuomo is so left wing. If you're thinking, yeah, Mam
- 14:09Speaker 2: Donnie is terrible, I wish we had Cuomo listen to
- 14:11Speaker 2: his radio show. Sometimes he is to the left of
- 14:14Speaker 2: Mom Donnie on most issues. This week talking about how
- 14:18Speaker 2: awful Ice is. Ice is a terrible Ice is a
- 14:21Speaker 2: bunch of fascist. There are a bunch of thugs. I mean,
- 14:23Speaker 2: you can use that language, but that's basically what he
- 14:25Speaker 2: was saying. Hey, we'll take some calls next Scott Shannon
- 14:28Speaker 2: in a few minutes. We'll talk about the super Bowl,
- 14:30Speaker 2: but we'll take some calls. Next eight hundred three to
- 14:33Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten is the number eight hundred
- 14:37Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He's the Marks among show on sevent ten wor.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Steve, Union City. Steve,
- 14:50Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 14:51Speaker 6: I'm doing great, Mark. I wanted to comment on Seattle's
- 14:55Speaker 6: idea of caxing the football players from other cities and
- 14:57Speaker 6: states when they play there. We had I'm an actor,
- 15:00Speaker 6: retired actor. Cities and states all over the country have
- 15:03Speaker 6: been doing this to us when we're on tour for decades.
- 15:07Speaker 6: We'd grow into some city and they decide, oh, we're
- 15:09Speaker 6: going to tax you while you're here for the portion
- 15:11Speaker 6: of the money that you made while you're here. So
- 15:13Speaker 6: we're being taxed without representation and kind of double taxed
- 15:16Speaker 6: because we're still paying tax to the state where we live.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's absolutely ridiculous. And what were you in that
- 15:22Speaker 2: we might have seen?
- 15:24Speaker 6: I was in the Broadway Company of forty second Street
- 15:26Speaker 6: for three and a half years, the National Company of Footloose,
- 15:29Speaker 6: lots of other shows.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Very good, excellent, Well, thanks for calling Steve. Take care.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Let's go to Robert in New Jersey. Robert.
- 15:35Speaker 7: How you doing, Good morning, Mark, how I wanted to
- 15:39Speaker 7: make fund about the alternative halftime show.
- 15:42Speaker 8: You know, it was the big name there was, Kid
- 15:44Speaker 8: Rocket County. And the problem was he didn't even.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Actually come on and perform Buck the other.
- 15:50Speaker 7: Halftime show with the game was over, so everybody went
- 15:53Speaker 7: back to watch the game till and the big the big.
- 15:56Speaker 8: Name for the alternative halftime show. I don't even think
- 15:58Speaker 8: anybody saw it.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Well, actually seven million people saw the alternative show. Seven
- 16:02Speaker 2: million actually twitched over from the super Bowl to watch
- 16:06Speaker 2: the Kid Rock show. Let's go to Bob in Georgia. Bob,
- 16:10Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 16:12Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 16:12Speaker 8: Hey, hi Mark. The only thing I could figure they
- 16:15Speaker 8: had a Spanish singer for the halftime show is maybe
- 16:19Speaker 8: they're trying to bring in that demographic. But I got
- 16:23Speaker 8: to tell you, the guys that are the Spanish guys
- 16:25Speaker 8: I worked with, and the Spanish people I know they
- 16:27Speaker 8: were like soccer, So I don't know who he really
- 16:31Speaker 8: was playing to. I guess maybe the or the younger
- 16:33Speaker 8: people or something like that. Anyway, that was my opinion
- 16:35Speaker 8: about it.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well thanks for calling. The problem is
- 16:38Speaker 2: you could actually argue that he is the biggest most
- 16:40Speaker 2: successful singer in the world today. But as we were
- 16:43Speaker 2: saying today, you could be the number one selling artist
- 16:46Speaker 2: in the world and only one little demographic NOSEA half
- 16:51Speaker 2: the country's never heard of you. It's all splintered up
- 16:53Speaker 2: right now, Let's go to Sandy and Long Island. Sandy,
- 16:57Speaker 2: how you doing? Oh good?
- 17:01Speaker 3: I also have a comment to make about the halftime show.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I don't Roger Friedman must be delusional. How anyone could
- 17:09Speaker 3: stand that show? I can't figure it out.
- 17:12Speaker 8: He was pretty understanding.
- 17:13Speaker 2: He can't understand it. But he was pretty good.
- 17:16Speaker 3: He wasn't good.
- 17:17Speaker 2: He was pretty good.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Oh give me a break.
- 17:21Speaker 2: No, you look good. The moves were good. Everything. It
- 17:23Speaker 2: was the choreography, the whole terrific.
- 17:25Speaker 3: It was borderline porn at the beginning, with the twerking
- 17:28Speaker 3: and everything.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I listen to you. You could use a little borderline porn.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Private perhaps, but not on TV.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Hey, let me ask you a question. This new study
- 17:41Speaker 2: shows that more women are looking at porn than ever before,
- 17:44Speaker 2: the porn sites that I have never seen this, bo,
- 17:46Speaker 2: What do you attribute that to?
- 17:49Speaker 3: I have to tell you I don't know, And I
- 17:51Speaker 3: have to question who did the survey?
- 17:54Speaker 2: What it's not a survey, it's actual numbers.
- 17:56Speaker 6: It.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Well, I don't know what to say. I'm certainly not
- 18:00Speaker 3: one of them. All right now you have to own
- 18:03Speaker 3: you don't have to You really don't have to do that.
- 18:06Speaker 2: No, I understand, thanks for calling me. Yeah, it's just interesting.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Uh.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Some experts think it's that people whatever they used to
- 18:16Speaker 2: do physically in person, they're doing online now. So a
- 18:18Speaker 2: lot a lot of women less actual going out with men,
- 18:21Speaker 2: sex with men. They're just doing it online. It's the
- 18:23Speaker 2: same thing with everything else. You used to go see people,
- 18:26Speaker 2: talk to them. Now you just text and everything becomes digital.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Let's go to Joe Bergen County. Joe, how you doing?
- 18:33Speaker 6: Good morning, Mark, how you doing?
- 18:34Speaker 2: I want to switch gears here?
- 18:36Speaker 1: Kudos to Vincent.
- 18:38Speaker 7: Uh, where's my cap on my.
- 18:41Speaker 1: PSC?
- 18:42Speaker 2: Jo went thirty dollars more?
- 18:44Speaker 8: Where's my cap?
- 18:45Speaker 2: But are you talking about? I know what he's talking about?
- 18:49Speaker 7: The energy?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Oh electric? Okay, our energy bills went up even more.
- 18:56Speaker 2: She's supposed to put a cap on it. Oh yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 2: good luck with that. You've voted for a Democrat?
- 19:00Speaker 6: No, no, no, no, we didn't. I don't know how
- 19:05Speaker 6: she got in.
- 19:06Speaker 7: I don't know where she came from.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I know, but I'm just telling you. You elect a Democrat,
- 19:09Speaker 2: your energy costs go up, Everything goes up. Your good
- 19:12Speaker 2: example is New York. You elected Cuomo. He shut down
- 19:15Speaker 2: the nuclear plant Indian Point that was twenty five percent
- 19:18Speaker 2: of our electricity. Twenty five percent taken off line. That means,
- 19:22Speaker 2: you know, you got to buy it from out of state.
- 19:24Speaker 2: It increases the cost. Absolutely ridiculous. One more Michael on
- 19:28Speaker 2: the east Side. Michael, what do you want to say? Sorry,
- 19:35Speaker 2: what is this? Come with God?
- 19:42Speaker 7: With God in.
- 19:44Speaker 2: The same thing? What'd you say?
- 19:48Speaker 7: Okay with godden?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Be Ghazi attack.
- 19:51Speaker 7: Yes, the John Batchelor Show had somebody on at the
- 19:57Speaker 7: time that really di discuss in repts the true story
- 20:03Speaker 7: and why Hillary Clinton would not send support because that
- 20:09Speaker 7: would expose one of her gun trading operations.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Stone Well, more likely it was Hillary Clinton and the
- 20:18Speaker 2: world's worst manager, didn't know what the hell she was doing.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Left those people there, just left them for dead. It
- 20:24Speaker 2: was awful.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Hey.
- 20:25Speaker 2: When we come back, speaking of music and mainstream artists,
- 20:28Speaker 2: we'll talk to the greatest living DJ, the legend himself,
- 20:32Speaker 2: Scott Shannon, will go over the Super Bowl and more
- 20:35Speaker 2: coming up next on seven to ten wr set up
- 20:38Speaker 2: re said on the iHeartRadio app to wr R to
- 20:42Speaker 2: hear Mark live.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Set another for Mark's podcast to hear him anytime Now
- 20:48Speaker 4: back to Mark Simon on wor.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Well with us right now, the greatest living DJ, the
- 20:55Speaker 2: radio legend himself, Scott Shannon is with us. Scott Shannon,
- 21:00Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Coming right at you on miss Work Monday. We're both
- 21:06Speaker 1: working our tales off today. Yeah, kind of put everything
- 21:11Speaker 1: in perspective. I do have. I've been listening to your
- 21:16Speaker 1: radio show this morning, and I got to tell you. You
- 21:20Speaker 1: and I usually agree, but not this time, my friend,
- 21:24Speaker 1: what that halftime show was a business? It was horrible.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Well, visually it looked good and the moves were good
- 21:33Speaker 2: and the music was bouncy lively.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. Back when Prince did it,
- 21:42Speaker 1: when Bruce did it, when Lady Gaga did it, all
- 21:45Speaker 1: the way back to when Up with People did it,
- 21:49Speaker 1: and were all about the music. It was about the
- 21:53Speaker 1: scene to the country, right. Yeah, so you're telling me
- 22:00Speaker 1: it was an entertaining jokes if you didn't know one
- 22:02Speaker 1: word he was singing.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, But here's the problem. Was going to ask you well,
- 22:09Speaker 2: back then, Bruce Springsteen was a mainstream artist that everybody knew.
- 22:13Speaker 2: The music now is so splintered. Can you name anybody
- 22:17Speaker 2: that everybody would know, every demo everybody would know.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Well, the thing that you're missing, I think is the
- 22:26Speaker 1: fact that most people who speak Spanish are big soccer fans.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I think you mentioned that once this morning. Yeah, and
- 22:35Speaker 1: then he goes on and you know, also people forgot
- 22:39Speaker 1: this was also about the two hundred and fifties anniversary
- 22:42Speaker 1: of our country, where our actual most people in America
- 22:48Speaker 1: speak English. God, you know, I'd have nothing against mister Bunny.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I think he's a fine, fine artist. But here's something
- 22:59Speaker 1: for you. When you watch when you turn on one
- 23:02Speaker 1: of the Spanish speaking televisions, do they have an an
- 23:05Speaker 1: English show on there? No, I don't think so, Mark,
- 23:11Speaker 1: that's true, of course not so. How many people do
- 23:15Speaker 1: you think started to watch that? And look, the set
- 23:19Speaker 1: was beautiful, the dancers were great, But I couldn't understand
- 23:22Speaker 1: one damn word.
- 23:23Speaker 3: He was singing.
- 23:25Speaker 1: True don't speak Spanish.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Hey, a lot of today's biggest hits I love. I
- 23:30Speaker 2: can't understand one word to saying either, So oh.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Come on, you can understand. You can understand Taylor Swift
- 23:37Speaker 1: when she's singing.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a bunch of songs. I don't know
- 23:40Speaker 2: what all they're singing, but they're great and I love
- 23:42Speaker 2: them well.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I you know the other thing people aren't. I don't
- 23:48Speaker 1: know if you've talked about this or you realize it,
- 23:51Speaker 1: but you've got to remember Roger Goodell is very clear
- 23:57Speaker 1: with his plans for his league. He thinks he wants
- 24:03Speaker 1: it to be the International Football League, not the NFL,
- 24:07Speaker 1: not the National Football League. He had a games down
- 24:10Speaker 1: in Mexico, he's spent in London, he's been in Germany.
- 24:14Speaker 1: They're going I think they're doing one in Italy or France.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I think, and I think this was just part of
- 24:20Speaker 1: that big plan.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, No, you're absolutely right. Hey, Rochie Goodell, who's a
- 24:24Speaker 2: very unpleasant, unlikable sort of guy, but the other guy
- 24:28Speaker 2: owners love him because he knows how to make money.
- 24:31Speaker 2: He makes them a ton of money. So you're right,
- 24:33Speaker 2: that's his plan, more international and expanding.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that make this fits right into his plan. The
- 24:42Speaker 1: obvious thing that should have been done it was they're
- 24:45Speaker 1: forgetting about the you know, I know they had the
- 24:48Speaker 1: flyover but it's a two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of
- 24:51Speaker 1: our country, for God's ekes, Then what do you do
- 24:54Speaker 1: for the halftime show?
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:58Speaker 1: I can't. That couldn't take it all right.
- 25:00Speaker 2: But the good thing was Charlie Pooth I thought was
- 25:03Speaker 2: absolutely brilliancing in the national anthem. Would you agree?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Yeah? I thought he did a great job. Yeah I did.
- 25:11Speaker 1: There was no doubt about that.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I mean, wardrobe wise, he looked ridiculous. He looked like
- 25:15Speaker 2: Marlon Brando in on the Waterfront with that jacket.
- 25:18Speaker 1: But you know, one of the I don't know, I
- 25:21Speaker 1: don't even know if you saw this, but there was
- 25:24Speaker 1: a high highs point in the proceedings in the fourth quarters.
- 25:31Speaker 1: It's always happened. Some guy ran across the field and
- 25:35Speaker 1: it was funny too because nobody could catch him except
- 25:38Speaker 1: a guy in a in a New England uniform. He
- 25:43Speaker 1: tackled this sob took him down on the ten yard line.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Well, I actually missed it, I thought later, but I
- 25:50Speaker 2: was actually eating then buffet.
- 25:52Speaker 1: That was pretty cool. Yeah, But and like I said,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I thought the sets were beautiful and Bunny was fine.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I mean he's a great performer. I just i'd like
- 26:02Speaker 1: sometimes I'd like to hear what there's you know, tell
- 26:05Speaker 1: here singing?
- 26:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but again the problem is Prince was like everybody
- 26:10Speaker 2: knew Prince back then. There's no mainstream singers anymore that
- 26:13Speaker 2: everybody knows. There's no such thing even our You take
- 26:17Speaker 2: our radio stations here on this floor. You got Z
- 26:18Speaker 2: one hundred over there, which you created. You got Power
- 26:22Speaker 2: one O five, you got Q one O four. They
- 26:23Speaker 2: all played different artists. There's no artist that could get
- 26:25Speaker 2: played on all of our stations.
- 26:28Speaker 1: You know what, did you get a chance to pay
- 26:32Speaker 1: much attention to the commercials?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 26:35Speaker 1: Thought there was some great commercials. This was really a
- 26:39Speaker 1: battery year for commercials. You had that Uh you had
- 26:42Speaker 1: that one was it? You had bon Jovi in there,
- 26:46Speaker 1: Stop living on a prayer? Yeah, you had the great
- 26:49Speaker 1: Budweiser commercials were the best they've had in a long time. Uh.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That Clydesdale horse, that little baby and that baby eagle,
- 26:59Speaker 1: all that things strong. And then what about the good
- 27:03Speaker 1: Will Duncan commercial. Yeah, Film Stiller, Jennifer Addison, Tom Brady,
- 27:10Speaker 1: they're all in that thing.
- 27:11Speaker 2: The only problem is nowadays you watch so much video
- 27:14Speaker 2: AI unbelievable special effects video, all kinds of amazing videos
- 27:17Speaker 2: all day long on TikTok Instagram. After all that all
- 27:21Speaker 2: day and night, these commercials aren't so dazzling anymore. We're
- 27:24Speaker 2: used to it too much.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but I thought these were very entertained. There were
- 27:30Speaker 1: a couple of them. There were pretty good commercials, but
- 27:32Speaker 1: I couldn't figure out what the product was. That's a
- 27:36Speaker 1: problem when you spend that kind of money. And oh
- 27:38Speaker 1: what did you see the talking toilet? See? Yeah, so yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 1: that was pretty funny.
- 27:44Speaker 2: They were pretty good. The game itself not very good.
- 27:49Speaker 2: New England got to the Super Bowl a couple of
- 27:50Speaker 2: years too early. They're not ready for this yet.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but that defense for Seattle was they were incredible.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Oh I was that was an amazing game. I mean, yeah,
- 28:02Speaker 1: there wasn't much action, I agree, but you know it was.
- 28:07Speaker 1: It was good if you were a big fan. Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 1: if you were a fan of of of Seattle. Now
- 28:14Speaker 1: what about I know, not everybody's kicked in yet for
- 28:18Speaker 1: the Winter Olympics, but uh, that Lindsey von thing was
- 28:22Speaker 1: kind of crazy. Yeah, she's forty one years old, she's
- 28:27Speaker 1: already ruptured her a c a a week ago, and
- 28:31Speaker 1: then she's going to put a bracelet. I'm ready, I'm
- 28:33Speaker 1: all set, I'll be fine. That had that had disaster
- 28:37Speaker 1: all over, I thought. And then she she what She
- 28:41Speaker 1: hit her shoulder too, didn't she on one of those
- 28:44Speaker 1: passer by things you skate. I'm out of skier, so
- 28:47Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm talking about. And then they
- 28:50Speaker 1: had to rush her off, and I think she broke
- 28:51Speaker 1: her leg or something.
- 28:53Speaker 2: You know. And I can't figure why anybody would be
- 28:56Speaker 2: a skier. It seems like the dumbest sport in the world.
- 28:59Speaker 2: You pay money, goes somewhere where it's colder than where
- 29:01Speaker 2: you are, you have to wear all those contraptions.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It's well, it worked all right, worked out all right
- 29:06Speaker 1: for Sonny Bono, didn't it.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Exactly? You're gonna get get yourself killed. It's a ridiculous.
- 29:14Speaker 2: For the same vacation, you can go lie on a
- 29:15Speaker 2: beach and have nothing but fun. It's crazy.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I'm more of it. I'm more of a sun guy myself.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I enjoy that. But there was we did win a
- 29:23Speaker 1: gold medal. This alpine skier, Breezy Johnson got a gold
- 29:29Speaker 1: medal in women's downhill. And then while she's having a
- 29:33Speaker 1: press Car. She Proverdamn Gold Medal into three pieces accidentally. Yeah,
- 29:39Speaker 1: so she smashed her metal.
- 29:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Now you bring up a good point. Se two hundred
- 29:44Speaker 2: and fiftieth anniversary of America. You know, coming up in July,
- 29:48Speaker 2: there's going to be some amazing concerts, amazing events all
- 29:51Speaker 2: summer Washington. They're gonna have and I don't think Democrats
- 29:55Speaker 2: are too crazy about this. They're gonna have NASCAR around Washington,
- 29:58Speaker 2: Indy Car, They're going to have wrestling at the White
- 30:01Speaker 2: These are not big Democratic sports, are they.
- 30:03Speaker 1: That's not the kind of well, not only thing. There's
- 30:06Speaker 1: a lot of stuff that happens at the White House
- 30:08Speaker 1: every year.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Hey, by the way, everybody, you can listen to
- 30:12Speaker 2: Scott Shannon on the True Oldies Channel. Where should they
- 30:15Speaker 2: go to get it?
- 30:17Speaker 1: Well, what I did was I've always been a fan.
- 30:20Speaker 1: That's my hobby. You know. I love music, and that's
- 30:23Speaker 1: what got me into the radio business. I love music first,
- 30:29Speaker 1: and I think the greatest decade of music was the
- 30:33Speaker 1: sixties and the seventies right behind it. Dependent you know
- 30:37Speaker 1: on your age and who you are and what your
- 30:40Speaker 1: preference is. But I took all the best music from
- 30:43Speaker 1: the sixties and seventies and mixed them all together and
- 30:47Speaker 1: keep the commercials down. You know, if you grew up
- 30:50Speaker 1: on WABC, it's perfect place for you. True Oldies Channel,
- 30:54Speaker 1: or on ninety two three FM HD three, which is
- 31:01Speaker 1: once you get there, it's beautiful sound and you get
- 31:03Speaker 1: it any car in the last ten years, or you
- 31:06Speaker 1: can get it on your Alexa. You say, Alexa, play
- 31:10Speaker 1: the True Oldies Channel. It's that simple.
- 31:14Speaker 2: And you can listen to Scott Channon show every morning
- 31:16Speaker 2: on the True Oldiest Channel.
- 31:17Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, I still do a morning show there. Yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I don't have to take I don't take the trip
- 31:23Speaker 1: into the city like I did for like thirty thirty years.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yes, much easier now. So but listen to the True
- 31:29Speaker 2: Oldiest Channel, Scott Channon. Great stuff is always thanks for
- 31:33Speaker 2: being with us.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Thank you. And by the way, it is it is
- 31:39Speaker 1: miss work Monday and we showed up.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Thanks for being us man talking to take care. Yeah,
- 31:46Speaker 2: they want to make this an actual holiday. Hey, coming
- 31:48Speaker 2: up Bucking Clay. They do an excellent show. You do
- 31:51Speaker 2: not want to miss them. They're on noon to three.
- 31:53Speaker 2: They'll be here right after the news at twelve on
- 31:55Speaker 2: seven ten WR.
- 31:58Speaker 1: On sevent TENO.
- 32:00Speaker 5: He's more of the Marximo show.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Well, a lot of fighting about voter ID. Chuck Schumer
- 32:09Speaker 2: all over the place saying, requiring a voter ID. It's
- 32:13Speaker 2: like Jim Crow and everybody under sixty going, tell's Jim Crow,
- 32:17Speaker 2: who is he talking about? But this voter ID thing
- 32:19Speaker 2: is so ridiculous. Eighty three percent of America wants a
- 32:24Speaker 2: voter ID. Eighty three percent. They make up this whole racist,
- 32:29Speaker 2: ridiculous stereotype that the minority community, well they can't they
- 32:33Speaker 2: don't have ID. They don't know how to get an ID.
- 32:35Speaker 2: With the most awful, stupid stereotype, absolutely ridiculous. You need
- 32:39Speaker 2: a photo ID for just about everything. You know, if
- 32:42Speaker 2: you want to buy this cough medicine, you got to
- 32:45Speaker 2: have a voter ID and a photo ID in the pharmacy.
- 32:49Speaker 2: So on CNN, MSNBC, the ABC Sunday Show yesterday, ago
- 32:54Speaker 2: on and on about how evil and racist and cruel
- 32:57Speaker 2: voter photo ID is, while at the same time, you
- 33:01Speaker 2: have to have photo ID to get into the NBC building,
- 33:05Speaker 2: to go to MSNBC, to go to CNN. I've been
- 33:07Speaker 2: on all these shows. You got to show your driver's license,
- 33:10Speaker 2: photo ID just to get in the building. Same thing
- 33:13Speaker 2: with ABC. You have to show photo ID in every
- 33:15Speaker 2: major building in New York City, every skyscraper, everything. It's
- 33:21Speaker 2: perfectly normal. Again, eighty three percent of America wants photo
- 33:26Speaker 2: ID photo ID to vote. It's every other country in
- 33:30Speaker 2: the world does it. We're the only ones that don't,
- 33:33Speaker 2: and it's absolutely ridiculous. Hey, we're out of time, don't
- 33:36Speaker 2: go away. Buck and Clay coming up next with great
- 33:39Speaker 2: show every day noon to three. I'm here ten to
- 33:42Speaker 2: noon every weekday. Or if you can't listen ten to noon,
- 33:45Speaker 2: or you miss an hour, or you miss a show,
- 33:47Speaker 2: you can always get the podcast. That way, you can
- 33:49Speaker 2: hear this show anytime you want, day or night, wherever
- 33:52Speaker 2: you get podcasts. So see you tomorrow. Thanks for everything,
- 33:55Speaker 2: Box simone here seven ten w
