Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only
- 0:12Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and today we're joined by Seth Morris, Corey Caulkins, Melissa Smith,
- 0:21Speaker 1: Hillary Burne, Max Barta, Roman Snowbrick, Clay Newcombe, and Logan Dove.
- 0:26Speaker 1: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:28Speaker 1: meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
- 0:35Speaker 1: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing. Now,
- 0:40Speaker 1: Phil update the room here on why you look the
- 0:43Speaker 1: way you look? And I don't mean that about like.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I can talk about that to Yeah. Sure, the year
- 0:49Speaker 2: was nineteen ninety and no, I was supposed to take
- 0:53Speaker 2: a vacation this week. I wasn't going anywhere as it
- 0:55Speaker 2: wasn't a big deal. Than Spencer asked if we could
- 0:57Speaker 2: do trivia because this is the only week week we
- 0:59Speaker 2: could do it. But I'm in vacation mode, you know,
- 1:03Speaker 2: like you know, I wear this for every vacation I take.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Definitely didn't get it off the clearance racket target, but yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 2: so that's why I'm here. Got a teka mug, I'm
- 1:12Speaker 2: ready to roll. So hold on, you're on vacation, but
- 1:14Speaker 2: you're just staying in town.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, staycation.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's staycation.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It's it's the it's kids, kids, first week at school,
- 1:21Speaker 2: get a lot of stuff to buy and pack and
- 1:23Speaker 2: prepare and oh wow.
- 1:25Speaker 1: The point is Phil is a company man. That's why
- 1:27Speaker 1: he's here.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Good, can believe have done that?
- 1:33Speaker 4: That's a dedicated employee.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Birthday and it's Seth's birthday. Seth? How old are you today?
- 1:38Speaker 3: Thirty two?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Big plans? No, okay, nothing at all.
- 1:42Speaker 3: No, maybe I'm going to go out to dinner with
- 1:43Speaker 3: my wife.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Oh where are you going? Let me get the sack.
- 1:47Speaker 3: No okay, no I go there too much land of magic,
- 1:50Speaker 3: I think, so yes, oh yeah, here you go. Yeah.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Now, this isn't any regular old game of Meat Eater Trivia.
- 1:57Speaker 1: This is episode two of the twenty twenty Meat Eater
- 2:01Speaker 1: Trivia Tournament. There are four episodes total, and by the
- 2:04Speaker 1: end of the last one we'll have crowned a champion
- 2:06Speaker 1: of Meat Eater Trivia for twenty twenty three. Now, this
- 2:10Speaker 1: game will have spoilers, so if you haven't heard episode
- 2:13Speaker 1: one yet, then pause this and go back and listen
- 2:16Speaker 1: to the first show. All right, everyone's had a chance
- 2:19Speaker 1: to do that. Everyone's heard episode one. How does the
- 2:22Speaker 1: room feel about playing with these steaks being so high?
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm nervous all the time. So okay, it's good practice
- 2:29Speaker 1: for hunting season. Oh there you get on the pressure. Yeah, now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: Clay should not feel any of the nerves. He actually
- 2:36Speaker 1: can advance to the next round. It was just coincidence.
- 2:38Speaker 1: He's in the office today, but he won't be around
- 2:41Speaker 1: next week when.
- 2:42Speaker 5: We record the game.
- 2:43Speaker 1: The game, that's a good way to put it.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Here's a question. If he wins, does he still get
- 2:48Speaker 3: to donate to the org of his choice.
- 2:50Speaker 1: We'll talk about that at the end. We're doing the
- 2:52Speaker 1: donation a little bit differently in the tournament, so there's
- 2:56Speaker 1: another little wrinkle for us. So here's how this is
- 2:59Speaker 1: going to work. Episode one was a qualifying round with
- 3:02Speaker 1: seven players, two of which got to move on to
- 3:05Speaker 1: the championship. Those two players were Cal and Hansei. Episode
- 3:09Speaker 1: two is also a qualifying round with seven new players,
- 3:12Speaker 1: two of which will also move on to the championship.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Episodes three and four are the championship rounds. Those will
- 3:19Speaker 1: feature Cal and Hansei from episode one, as well as
- 3:22Speaker 1: our reigning champion, Brody Henderson, Steven, Ronella, Giannis, Putellus, and
- 3:27Speaker 1: Randall Williams. Brody, Steve, Giannis and Randall have the most
- 3:30Speaker 1: victories in twenty twenty three, so they're getting an automatic
- 3:34Speaker 1: buy to the championship for the STAB of the Week.
- 3:37Speaker 1: This week, we're looking at the performance of players in
- 3:39Speaker 1: last year's tournament qualifying episodes. In the two play in
- 3:43Speaker 1: shows from twenty twenty two, the minimum score needed to
- 3:47Speaker 1: reach the championship round was a five. Maggie Hudlow, Corey Calkins,
- 3:52Speaker 1: and Seth Morris each got five correct answers in their
- 3:55Speaker 1: games to move on to the final episode. Now, I'll
- 3:58Speaker 1: tell you in the last episode that we just record
- 4:00Speaker 1: or did we had four players go to a tiebreaker
- 4:02Speaker 1: with four correct answers, So four or five it's probably
- 4:06Speaker 1: what you're going to need to make it to episodes
- 4:08Speaker 1: three and four.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Are we getting the same questions as those.
- 4:11Speaker 1: You're not getting the same questions?
- 4:13Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I guess this is Yeah, it wouldn't be
- 4:15Speaker 3: fun for the listeners. Yeah, it was all the same.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Never mind.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I was a stupid question. Sorry, Spencer, No, it's okay.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's a good question and I'll address it in a
- 4:22Speaker 1: second your set. Here's our zero percent er question of
- 4:24Speaker 1: the week, which tests how much knowledge players have retained
- 4:27Speaker 1: from previous shows. This question was from from a qualifying
- 4:31Speaker 1: round last year. The topic was hunting, and nobody got
- 4:34Speaker 1: it right. What biblical figure was the great grandson of
- 4:38Speaker 1: Noah and described as a mighty hunter before the Lord? Clay,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm gonna have you sit in silence for a second
- 4:44Speaker 1: to see if the rest of our room can come
- 4:47Speaker 1: up with the correct answer. As a reminder, this was
- 4:49Speaker 1: from a qualifying round last year. Nobody got it right.
- 4:51Speaker 1: If you know the answer, you can just shout it out.
- 4:53Speaker 1: What biblical figure was the great grandson of Noah and
- 4:56Speaker 1: described as a mighty hunter before the Lord? Any Boddy
- 5:00Speaker 1: know it? Any guesses?
- 5:02Speaker 3: I remember getting this wrong?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Us tell us the answer? Clay his I'll give you
- 5:07Speaker 1: a hint.
- 5:08Speaker 5: His name rhymes with Ramrod Nimrod.
- 5:13Speaker 1: The correct answer was Nimrod. The incorrect answers were Solomon Sampson,
- 5:18Speaker 1: John Saint, Hubert, Josiah, and for some reason, Max still
- 5:22Speaker 1: thinks it's Lyon. You said Lyon in last year's episode,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and now you said lion again. Lion is still not right.
- 5:31Speaker 6: Yeah, still got it wrong.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Now we don't have any housekeeping for today's show, but
- 5:34Speaker 1: here's one final note about the tournament before we move on.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Listeners with a keen ear will notice that the questions
- 5:40Speaker 1: from this week and last week resemble each other because
- 5:43Speaker 1: they're both qualifying rounds. I design the scripts to have
- 5:46Speaker 1: similar themes and difficulties, so they're not the same question, seth,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but they are similar.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Now.
- 5:52Speaker 1: The Shelby inext for today's round is a three, so
- 5:54Speaker 1: our winner should get six correct answers. And with that
- 5:58Speaker 1: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop fill. Look,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand and wind everything?
- 6:08Speaker 1: How's that? Just tend to win everything? Demon Suckers Round two?
- 6:21Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Question one. The topic is public lands, and as always,
- 6:26Speaker 1: this will be multiple choice. Which of these animals is
- 6:30Speaker 1: not found in Idaho's Boise National Forest? Is it a
- 6:35Speaker 1: prong horn, cocony, salmon, gopher, snake or Roosevelt elk? If
- 6:42Speaker 1: you don't know, you can see the question on the
- 6:44Speaker 1: TV behind you. Corey Clay Roman again, the question is
- 6:50Speaker 1: Which of these animals is not found in Idaho's Boise
- 6:54Speaker 1: National Forest, pronghorn, cocony, salmon, gopher, snake, or Roosevelt Elk.
- 7:00Speaker 1: And we have vacation Phil putting a nice little touch
- 7:03Speaker 1: on the first question with the waiting room music.
- 7:07Speaker 3: This reminds me of SpongeBob.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I thought the same thing, you know, for copyright reasons.
- 7:13Speaker 2: No it's not, but it actually isn't. No royalty free
- 7:18Speaker 2: SpongeBob adjacent.
- 7:18Speaker 1: U uh huh. Which of these animals is not found
- 7:21Speaker 1: in Idaho's Boise National Forest, pronghorn, cocony, salmon, gopher, snake,
- 7:26Speaker 1: Roosevelt Elk? Who has been to the Boise National Forest? Nobody? Okay,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Now does everybody have an answer? Which of those is
- 7:39Speaker 1: not found there?
- 7:43Speaker 5: I've got an illustration too.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Okay, that'll be helpful. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 7:49Speaker 1: We have Seth saying Roosevelt Elk, Logan saying Roosevelt, Max
- 7:53Speaker 1: saying Roosevelt, Hillary saying cocony, salmon, Alyssa saying gopher snake,
- 7:58Speaker 1: Roman saying, Clay saying Roosevelt Elk. And in the little
- 8:03Speaker 1: time he had, he drew a beautiful Roosevelt Elk. Cordy
- 8:07Speaker 1: saying Roosevelt Elk. The correct answer is Roosevelt Elk. The
- 8:12Speaker 1: room did very well. The closest Roosevelt Elk to the
- 8:17Speaker 1: Boise National Forests are about three hundred miles to the
- 8:20Speaker 1: west in Oregon. There are pronghorn in the southern part
- 8:24Speaker 1: of the forest, cocony salmon that are native to the
- 8:26Speaker 1: northern part of the forest, and gopher snakes are found
- 8:29Speaker 1: throughout the forest. The Boise National Forest is the sixth
- 8:32Speaker 1: biggest national forest in the country. Question two. The topic
- 8:38Speaker 1: is hunting. This next great question comes to us via
- 8:41Speaker 1: Steve Corson. If you have a question you think is
- 8:43Speaker 1: right for Meat Eater Trivia, you can send it to
- 8:45Speaker 1: Trivia at the meadeater dot com. Name one of the
- 8:50Speaker 1: ten most popular female dog names in twenty twenty two,
- 8:54Speaker 1: according to the American Kennel Club.
- 8:58Speaker 5: I wish you would have said male dogs because I
- 9:00Speaker 5: think Max is like top three.
- 9:02Speaker 1: So let me tell you this Max. Last episode, the
- 9:04Speaker 1: question is name one of the top ten male dog names.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Max was number one. Nice damn This time, though, I
- 9:12Speaker 1: need you to tell me one of the ten most
- 9:14Speaker 1: popular female dog names in twenty twenty two according to
- 9:19Speaker 1: the American Kennel Club Clay, how many dogs do you own?
- 9:23Speaker 4: H currently?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Just three?
- 9:25Speaker 3: Oh?
- 9:25Speaker 4: Just three?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Only three?
- 9:27Speaker 5: Man, it's a sad story. But my best coon dog
- 9:30Speaker 5: died back in December. Oh and then that fern.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Oh man, yep, and.
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, so I've only got three.
- 9:41Speaker 1: What's the biggest that the Newcomb Kennel has ever gotten?
- 9:44Speaker 5: I think I've had six at one time. Okay, And
- 9:46Speaker 5: that's I mean, that's just common. It's like not even bad.
- 9:50Speaker 5: And I six hunting dogs in Arkansas.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And when you're naming a dog, do you think that
- 9:56Speaker 1: you are using some of the popular names or are
- 9:58Speaker 1: you always going off the board? Would any dogs ever
- 10:02Speaker 1: show up in the top ten? Have you ever had
- 10:05Speaker 1: a Max? No?
- 10:06Speaker 5: I don't think so. I don't think we'd have any Okay,
- 10:09Speaker 5: we like to name dogs human names. M Okay, yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 5: like Tim.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Tim's my favorite dog besides my own dog.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer for one of the ten
- 10:23Speaker 1: most popular female dog names? How many dog owners do
- 10:26Speaker 1: we have in this room? Everybody except Logan and Roman? Okay,
- 10:33Speaker 1: do you have a dog? I do not. I'm an
- 10:35Speaker 1: aspiring dog owner.
- 10:37Speaker 4: He's a big cat guy.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Big, huge cat guy almost a big a cat guy
- 10:41Speaker 1: is Seth. Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and
- 10:46Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Seth saying Greta, Logan saying Atlas,
- 10:51Speaker 1: Max saying Bella, Hillary saying Sadie, Alyssa saying Lucy, Roman
- 10:57Speaker 1: saying Rosie, Clay saying Sadie, and he drew a Sadie,
- 11:01Speaker 1: well done, play Corey saying Dolly. The ten most popular
- 11:07Speaker 1: female dog names are Luna, Bella, Daisy, Lucy, Willow, Penny, Sadie, Maggie,
- 11:16Speaker 1: Rosie and Ruby. For anyone who doesn't know, Max's name
- 11:24Speaker 1: is Max, which is the most popular male dog name,
- 11:27Speaker 1: and his dog's name is Ruby, which is tenth on
- 11:30Speaker 1: the list.
- 11:31Speaker 2: A really quick spencer. That was a lot of names
- 11:33Speaker 2: for me to sort through. All you're reading those off,
- 11:34Speaker 2: I know Max got it? Can everyone else who got that?
- 11:37Speaker 4: Rank?
- 11:37Speaker 3: And you raise your hand please? Yeah it's pretty good.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Just missing the top ten where Nova, Stella, Lily, Nala, Piper, Bailey,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and Coco. And just like with last week, some of
- 11:55Speaker 1: these were also among the top names for human girls.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Luna is ranked highest and ten. That's followed by Willow
- 12:01Speaker 1: at thirty seven, Lucy yet forty eight, Ruby at sixty two,
- 12:05Speaker 1: Saydy at sixty eight, Bela at eighty five, and Daisy
- 12:09Speaker 1: at one twenty five.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Hey, I could I just give some shorty gue on
- 12:14Speaker 5: dog naming. The biggest mistake the new COM's ever made
- 12:18Speaker 5: was we had we wanted to name a dog Scout.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Now that's a killer.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Dog for a second. Now and last week you had
- 12:25Speaker 1: to name one of the most popular male dog names.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Cal said, Scout. That was not right.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Well, exactly, see we're not we're not following the trends.
- 12:33Speaker 5: But that's like an el primo dog name. We got
- 12:36Speaker 5: this plot and it in my family wanted to name
- 12:40Speaker 5: it Scout, and I was like, man, it's risky. I
- 12:42Speaker 5: don't know if this dog is gonna make it, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 5: if it was gonna make a good hunting dogs, because
- 12:46Speaker 5: I wouldn't keep it if it wasn't. And it didn't
- 12:48Speaker 5: make it. We named the dog Scout, and now that
- 12:51Speaker 5: the dog wasn't, that great name's ruin forever. So if
- 12:54Speaker 5: you have a really great name, wait to name the dog.
- 12:58Speaker 1: It's tough.
- 12:59Speaker 5: It takes a lot of discip.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Cal's advice for naming a dog was make sure you're
- 13:03Speaker 1: comfortable yelling that name in a crowded park. That's good,
- 13:08Speaker 1: so comfortable yelling at in public, and something that you
- 13:12Speaker 1: don't want to ruin for eternity. Question three, the topic
- 13:16Speaker 1: is conservation. Which of the seven natural wonders of the
- 13:20Speaker 1: world is home to native fish like the humpback chub,
- 13:24Speaker 1: razorback sucker, and blue head sucker? And the topic is conservation?
- 13:31Speaker 1: Which of the seven natural wonders of the world is
- 13:35Speaker 1: home to native fish like the humpback chub, razorback sucker,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and blue head sucker. Seth with a confident answer, do
- 13:43Speaker 1: you even know?
- 13:44Speaker 3: If I can name one of the seven wonders in
- 13:46Speaker 3: the world.
- 13:47Speaker 1: That's a good place to start think about what they are? Corey,
- 13:51Speaker 1: do you have this one?
- 13:52Speaker 4: Right?
- 13:52Speaker 1: You have some confidence? It appears I thought I had it,
- 13:55Speaker 1: and now you gotta think. Seth, do you have this one?
- 14:01Speaker 7: M M?
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'm torn between two. Okay, didn't Biden just say there
- 14:04Speaker 3: was nine of.
- 14:06Speaker 1: The natural wonders? One of his mess ups one of
- 14:11Speaker 1: the seven natural wonders tell him to native fish like
- 14:16Speaker 1: the humpback chob razorback sucker and blue head sucker. Logan,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you also were quick to answer. Do you have this
- 14:23Speaker 1: one right? You think maybe?
- 14:25Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 14:27Speaker 1: It's reminder a lot on the line. Two of you
- 14:29Speaker 1: will get to move on to the championship.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Totally guessing. But I've got a drawing to go.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Let one.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Okay, is everybody ready.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I'm getting thrown? Yeah, man, Torn.
- 14:46Speaker 1: It's everybody ready. Yeah, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 14:51Speaker 1: We have Seth saying Niagara Falls, Logan saying Galapagos Islands,
- 14:55Speaker 1: Max saying Nile River, Hillary saying Great Barrier, Reef Alyssa
- 15:00Speaker 1: saying Niagara Falls, Roman without an answer, Clay saying Nile River,
- 15:06Speaker 1: Corey saying Grand Canyon. We have a correct answer in
- 15:10Speaker 1: the room. It's the Grand.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Canyon, right.
- 15:17Speaker 1: The Grand Canyon portion of the Colorado River is known
- 15:21Speaker 1: for large floods, freezing winter temps, hot summer temps, and
- 15:25Speaker 1: lots of sediment. As a result, this unique ecosystem only
- 15:29Speaker 1: has eight native fish, three of which have been extirpated.
- 15:33Speaker 1: One of the biggest challenges the Grand Canyon native species
- 15:36Speaker 1: face are invasive fish like trout, bass, and catfish.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Can you tell us what the wonders of the world are?
- 15:42Speaker 1: I can't tell you them all Alyssa said Great Barrier Reef,
- 15:45Speaker 1: which was actually the answer to last week. Sorry, Hillary said,
- 15:48Speaker 1: great Beary Reef. That was the answer to last week's
- 15:51Speaker 1: version of this question. I don't know what the other
- 15:54Speaker 1: ones are. I think the I don't think Niagara Falls
- 15:56Speaker 1: is one. I don't think the Nile, the big Victoria
- 16:01Speaker 1: Falls that's one of them. I don't know. I can't
- 16:05Speaker 1: I don't recall question four. The topic is biology. What
- 16:10Speaker 1: does the USGS stand for as in the Federal agency?
- 16:19Speaker 1: What does the us GES stand for as in the
- 16:22Speaker 1: Federal Agency? The confident room, all writing very quickly, I'm
- 16:30Speaker 1: going to look up these seven natural wonders of the world.
- 16:32Speaker 1: We have Mount Everest, Harbor of Rio de Janeiro, Great
- 16:36Speaker 1: Barrier Reef, Victoria Falls, Perracotino Volcano, Grand Canyon, and Aurora Borealis.
- 16:45Speaker 1: There are your seven natural wonders of the world. But
- 16:48Speaker 1: we are on question four. What does the USGES stand for?
- 16:54Speaker 1: Cal or excuse me, Clay, did you draw us something
- 16:56Speaker 1: for this? Yeah? Okay, looking forward to it. This is this
- 16:59Speaker 1: a nice little t spelled it wrong? Okay? It's everybody ready?
- 17:07Speaker 3: Uh a second Max Max show? Everyone boy.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Waiting on Max and Alyssa, what does the U S
- 17:22Speaker 1: g S stand for? Clay, can you tell us what
- 17:29Speaker 1: you're doing here in town?
- 17:32Speaker 5: Actually I'm not sure that I can.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I feel like everything is always spoiled. Okay, it's a
- 17:38Speaker 1: secret project. That's what we'll say. Then, Phil said, Phil
- 17:40Speaker 1: gave this answer in the background, which I trust Phil's gut,
- 17:44Speaker 1: which is to say it's.
- 17:45Speaker 3: A future audio project.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, very exciting. Can everybody just be excited? I'm like, wow,
- 17:51Speaker 5: that's great.
- 17:51Speaker 1: That's great, Clay.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Are you going to be hearing your voice?
- 17:55Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah, you're excited about Yeah.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Maximus, what are we doing over here? Hillary is rolling
- 18:05Speaker 1: her eyes at you. She's over whatever you're doing a
- 18:14Speaker 1: lot of pressure. Is everybody ready more erasing and reveal
- 18:25Speaker 1: your answers. We have sat the saying United States Geological Survey,
- 18:29Speaker 1: Logan saying United States Geological Service, saying United States Geographic
- 18:36Speaker 1: Geographic Studies, Hillary saying United States Geologic Survey, Melissa saying
- 18:43Speaker 1: United States Geological Services, Romans saying United States Geological Survey,
- 18:49Speaker 1: Clay saying United States Geologic Survey, Cory saying United States
- 18:54Speaker 1: Geological Service. The correct answer is United States Geological Survey,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I don't think we're going to give it to you.
- 19:04Speaker 1: If you only said geologic. Now this is a proper noun,
- 19:10Speaker 1: which I think will.
- 19:14Speaker 3: That is very I think.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I think it's got to be.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Geological, geological, geologic.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Can we help out, Phil If you got that right?
- 19:23Speaker 1: United States Geological Survey, raise your hand?
- 19:27Speaker 2: I think because I marked everyone who said survey, and
- 19:30Speaker 2: then I also marked Hillary and Clay. But if they
- 19:32Speaker 2: don't get it, then I'll remove their going to give it.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Clearly the answer needs the pivot point was on the survey.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, huh, yeah, clearly geological.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I don't think we're going to give it to you. We're
- 19:44Speaker 1: gonna stick with geological. The USGS is the nation's largest
- 19:48Speaker 1: water earth in biological science and civilian mapping agency. They
- 19:53Speaker 1: were founded in eighteen seventy nine with the goal of
- 19:56Speaker 1: studying our landscape, our natural resources, and our natural hazards.
- 20:01Speaker 1: They are a fact finding organization with no regulatory responsibility.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Question five, the topic is gear the real tree corporate
- 20:12Speaker 1: headquarters are located in this state? Confidence Seth, Corey and Clay. Again,
- 20:22Speaker 1: the question is the real tree corporate headquarters are located
- 20:27Speaker 1: in this state? You know this one Seth, I have.
- 20:33Speaker 3: A pretty good idea.
- 20:34Speaker 1: You know this one, Clay, Yeah, Clay.
- 20:39Speaker 5: I mean not to their headquarters. No, I've been to
- 20:43Speaker 5: the state.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Okay, that's a hint. If everyone, if anyone knows Clay's whereabouts.
- 20:52Speaker 1: The Real Tree corporate headquarters are located in this state.
- 20:55Speaker 1: This is question five. We'll get a scoreboard update from
- 20:57Speaker 1: Phil after this. The Real Tree corporate headquarters are located
- 21:06Speaker 1: in this state. What did you draw for us on
- 21:09Speaker 1: this one, Clay? Did you draw a shape of the state? More? Okay,
- 21:15Speaker 1: I like it.
- 21:15Speaker 8: I'm very excited, draw like Hardwoods HD or something.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It's everybody ready. Clay even hands a brown marker. Uh,
- 21:33Speaker 1: just for drawing whatever he whatever he can come up with.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 21:41Speaker 1: have Seth saying Georgia, Logan saying Wisconsin, Max saying Georgia,
- 21:46Speaker 1: Hillary saying Missouri, Alyssa saying Texas, Roman saying Tennessee. Clay
- 21:52Speaker 1: saying Georgia. He drew Georgia plus a peach. Well done,
- 21:57Speaker 1: Corey saying Mississippi. The correct answer is Georgia. The room
- 22:03Speaker 1: did pretty well, Claike, can you.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Do me a favor.
- 22:06Speaker 1: We turn your board when you draw a picture because
- 22:09Speaker 1: we can't see it over here. Oh yeah, show show
- 22:12Speaker 1: everyone a good little treat the Real Tree corporate excuse me.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Bill Jordan started Real Tree in nineteen eighty six when
- 22:19Speaker 1: he sketched his first camel pattern in his parents' front yard.
- 22:22Speaker 1: The brand took off when Jordan got a booth at
- 22:25Speaker 1: Shot Show, which helped him open his first facility in
- 22:28Speaker 1: a rented church in Columbus, Georgia.
- 22:31Speaker 5: And you know, the folks down in Georgia call him
- 22:34Speaker 5: Bill Jorden.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Okay, it's true.
- 22:37Speaker 1: They call him that in Arkansas or not.
- 22:39Speaker 5: You know, I would tend to say Jordan because you know.
- 22:44Speaker 1: You're a Yankee, but not that way.
- 22:46Speaker 2: But you're also a mister Akern over here, so we
- 22:48Speaker 2: got to respect the region.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Jordan, right there, Bill Jordens, Phil, we are halfway through
- 22:54Speaker 1: the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, everyone's on the board this time. We've got Logan,
- 22:59Speaker 2: Hillary and Alyssa with one apiece, Roman and Corey have two,
- 23:03Speaker 2: and all tied up in first place with three points
- 23:06Speaker 2: are Seth, Max and Clay.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Oh very fun. Question Question six. The topic is cooking
- 23:28Speaker 1: and Oklahoma style burger patty is smothered with this vegetable.
- 23:36Speaker 1: The room is stumped. An Oklahoma style burger patty is
- 23:41Speaker 1: smothered with this vegetable. Clay, you are the closest thing
- 23:48Speaker 1: we have to an Oklahomaan and you have no idea? Okay,
- 23:53Speaker 1: h an Oklahoma style burger patty is smothered with this vegetable. Hmm, Logan,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I think you were the quickest to have an answer.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Is he's just a guess? Do you know it?
- 24:12Speaker 3: Uh? No, I'm kind of just guessing.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Okay, Oh the vegetable?
- 24:20Speaker 5: Where did you find this? Wikipedia?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Everywhere? You call up in Oklahoma and you know after
- 24:26Speaker 1: this and you ask him or or you ask her.
- 24:29Speaker 5: I'm pretty close to an Oklahoma I.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Know hold On would change.
- 24:33Speaker 1: An Oklahoma style burger patty is smothered with this vegetable.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Is everybody ready?
- 24:43Speaker 8: Oh?
- 24:43Speaker 3: Think I spelled it right.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Corey is feeling the pressure over here. I'm due to
- 24:49Speaker 1: borroway fly rod from him, which may not happen. He
- 24:52Speaker 1: may have conveniently forgotten it if if he does not
- 24:54Speaker 1: advance in this game. It is everybody ready looking for
- 25:02Speaker 1: the vegetable.
- 25:02Speaker 5: I don't even have a creative answer.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Okay, no pictures, but you have an answer? Me answer
- 25:09Speaker 1: and does it? Does it lack a picture this time? Nope.
- 25:12Speaker 5: I'm uninspired by this question.
- 25:18Speaker 1: As harsh as Clay could be. I think Max, are
- 25:21Speaker 1: you ready? Everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 25:26Speaker 1: We have Seth saying choke, Logan saying onions, Max saying
- 25:32Speaker 1: green chili, Hillary sang poblano pepper, Melyssa saying onion, Roman
- 25:37Speaker 1: saying jlapino, Clay saying onions, Cory saying onions. We have
- 25:42Speaker 1: a correct answer, it's onion. The room did pretty well,
- 25:49Speaker 1: lacking confidence. The recipe was created during the Great Depression
- 25:55Speaker 1: as a way to make more burgers with less beef.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Oklahoma onion burgers star as a ball of meat that's
- 26:01Speaker 1: generously seasoned with salt and pepper and then topped with
- 26:05Speaker 1: a fistful of onions before getting smashed into a hot griddle.
- 26:09Speaker 1: You can learn how to cook one by checking out
- 26:11Speaker 1: Justin Townsend's recipe on the medeater dot com called Venison
- 26:15Speaker 1: Oklahoma Burgers.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Cory Corey put the cell phones.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Away, but we're getting a lot of feedback in our
- 26:21Speaker 1: ears or airplane modew Does that seem familiar to anybody
- 26:26Speaker 1: in Oklahoma? Onion burger a smash burger that is smothered
- 26:30Speaker 1: with onions?
- 26:31Speaker 3: Is it kind of the same as a Patty Milt.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Would be very similar. Go to the medeater dot com.
- 26:36Speaker 1: You'll get Justin Townsend's recipe. They look delicious. Question seven.
- 26:41Speaker 1: The topic is hunting. Mike Huntsucker and Sean Looktel started
- 26:45Speaker 1: this archery hunting show in two thousand and seven. Mike
- 26:53Speaker 1: Huntsucker and Sean Looktel started this archery hunting show in
- 26:58Speaker 1: two thousand and seven. We have a confident Seth, a
- 27:01Speaker 1: confident Clay who is also drawing us a nice picture logan.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Do you know this? One?
- 27:08Speaker 3: Another guess?
- 27:09Speaker 1: Okay, Max? Do you know this? Mike and Sean Locktell.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Shout out to Mike. He's a good dude. I like
- 27:19Speaker 3: that guy.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Mike is going to be getting one of our prototypes
- 27:24Speaker 1: of the med Eater trivia game so he can give
- 27:26Speaker 1: me some feedback and what he thinks. Mike Contucker and
- 27:30Speaker 1: Sean Locktell started this archery hunting show in two thousand
- 27:33Speaker 1: and seven. Have you watched their show? Clay? Are you?
- 27:39Speaker 5: Oh? Yeah?
- 27:39Speaker 1: How about you Seth big fan.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah, a big fan Max.
- 27:43Speaker 1: That's called What's it all Clay and it's.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Probably one of the longest running out there.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Can we can I say something now rather than later
- 27:59Speaker 5: while these have some time, not it wouldn't give anything away,
- 28:01Speaker 5: then go ahead. Trust their show was one of the
- 28:08Speaker 5: first hunting shows that introduced really high quality cinematic exactly.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 5: So when they were doing it, and there were some
- 28:16Speaker 5: other people involved back in the day, but I mean
- 28:19Speaker 5: it was like groundbreaking stuff.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because their show and I felt like Meat Eater
- 28:24Speaker 1: had a similar sensibilities. It looked like it was produced
- 28:26Speaker 1: by professionals rather than produced by hunters or wranglers, which
- 28:31Speaker 1: is what a lot of outdoor content tends to look like.
- 28:34Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, great, Wait.
- 28:35Speaker 5: A minute, that was like a backhand. These guys are
- 28:38Speaker 5: hunters and anglers. Look like it got made by hunters
- 28:42Speaker 5: and anglers.
- 28:43Speaker 1: But they also their their content looks like they are
- 28:47Speaker 1: professionals in.
- 28:48Speaker 5: That industry, cinema professionals, like they.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Could work, they could make commercials for TV, they could
- 28:54Speaker 1: do anything. It is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal
- 28:58Speaker 1: your answers. We have Seth saying Heartland bow Hunter, Logan
- 29:01Speaker 1: saying hunting public, Max saying full draw, Hillary saying bow
- 29:06Speaker 1: and arrow, Alyssa without an answer, Roman saying total archery.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Clay saying Heartland bow Hunter. He drew a person at
- 29:13Speaker 1: full draw, great drawing, Corey saying Heartland. The correct answer
- 29:18Speaker 1: is Heartland bow Hunter. Because I was a stickler on
- 29:22Speaker 1: the USGS. I don't think we're going to give it
- 29:24Speaker 1: to you, Corey. I don't think Heartland is good enough. Clay,
- 29:28Speaker 1: what do you think, Clay?
- 29:31Speaker 4: This is.
- 29:33Speaker 5: This guy right here. I'll go to bat for him
- 29:34Speaker 5: any day. Give him the point.
- 29:36Speaker 1: You've heard the point. I'm a petition with him, and
- 29:40Speaker 1: I would say that fly or not. Max, you want
- 29:43Speaker 1: to give him the point.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I would accept anything Max.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Wants to give him.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Is there another show called Heartland?
- 29:49Speaker 1: We should google the Heartland Waterfowl.
- 29:52Speaker 5: That's true, Yeah, but it would kind of be like saying,
- 29:55Speaker 5: what's the name of the company that Steve Miller runs
- 29:59Speaker 5: and we'd say meat.
- 30:01Speaker 7: Which it would which would not be meat is a
- 30:04Speaker 7: culinary brand different, Corey, We're not going to give it
- 30:10Speaker 7: to you.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I'm sorry. It's it's nice called Heartland. Heartland bow Hunter
- 30:15Speaker 1: was born after the group invented a camera tree arm
- 30:18Speaker 1: that specifically made for whitetail bowhunters. Since then, they've created
- 30:22Speaker 1: sixteen seasons of the show, along with a spinoff called
- 30:26Speaker 1: Heartland Waterfowl. The Heartland Bowhunter Team has also started making
- 30:31Speaker 1: video content for Meat Eater, which you can watch on
- 30:33Speaker 1: our YouTube channel. In twenty twenty four, Question eight, the
- 30:38Speaker 1: topic is fishing. This type of sinker with an alliterative
- 30:43Speaker 1: name was created by a North Dakota wileye angler in
- 30:47Speaker 1: nineteen sixty four. The room is slow to come up
- 30:53Speaker 1: with an answer. This type of sinker with an alliterative
- 30:58Speaker 1: name was created by a North Dakota walleye angler in
- 31:02Speaker 1: nineteen sixty four. Oh boy, Max is the closest thing
- 31:09Speaker 1: we have do in North Dakota, North Dakota, and he
- 31:14Speaker 1: doesn't know it. I think I know what you're talking about,
- 31:18Speaker 1: but I thought he was from somewhere else. This type
- 31:21Speaker 1: of sinker with an alliterative name was created by a
- 31:24Speaker 1: North Dakota walleye angler in nineteen sixty four. Clay, this
- 31:29Speaker 1: would be one of your blind spots potentially. Do you
- 31:31Speaker 1: think you have this one right? But he's going to
- 31:35Speaker 1: draw us something anyway, this is question eight. We'll get
- 31:39Speaker 1: a scoreboard update from Phil after this. It's a sinker
- 31:48Speaker 1: with an alliterative name, and it was created by a
- 31:51Speaker 1: North Dakota WALLEYE. Angler in nineteen sixty four. Seth, you
- 32:01Speaker 1: have an answer.
- 32:01Speaker 3: How do you feel about it? Not good? Yeah? I
- 32:07Speaker 3: feel like you're our guy. Yeah. I probably used this
- 32:10Speaker 3: thing a thousand times, but I don't know.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Is everybody ready?
- 32:15Speaker 4: I just don't.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Max, it looked like your humunculus helped you out there.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Did you think you come up with the credit with
- 32:21Speaker 1: the correct answer? I think so. It is everybody ready?
- 32:24Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answer. We have Seth saying
- 32:27Speaker 1: split shot, Logan without an answer, Max saying bottom bouncer,
- 32:31Speaker 1: Hillary without an answer, Alyssa saying dropper, Roman without an answer,
- 32:36Speaker 1: Clay saying slip shot, Corey saying teardrop. Max got it.
- 32:41Speaker 1: The correct answer is the bottom bouncer.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Got it?
- 32:44Speaker 3: Almost put that too, but yeah.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Bob Meader invented the bottom bouncer after finding that his
- 32:52Speaker 1: other sinkers were getting snagged too much while trolling. First,
- 32:56Speaker 1: he tried putting the weight at the bottom of the wire,
- 32:58Speaker 1: but found that it was more effective if he moved
- 33:01Speaker 1: it up. The design didn't really catch on until the
- 33:03Speaker 1: nineteen eighties, when a pair of South Dakota walleye guides
- 33:06Speaker 1: started winning national tournaments using the weights from Devil's Lake.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I don't know where he was from.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I try to avoid bottom bounce. I think it's the
- 33:15Speaker 3: boring thing.
- 33:15Speaker 6: It's kind of an old man when I'm When I'm
- 33:18Speaker 6: old and tired, I'll drink beer and bottom bounce.
- 33:21Speaker 1: That's right. As young guns, we like to pitch jigs.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right, Phil.
- 33:25Speaker 1: We have two questions left. I think it just got interesting.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Give us a leader board update.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got Hillary with one point, Roman, Logan and Alyssa.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I'll have two points apiece. Corey has three. Sorry, Corey
- 33:38Speaker 2: got Seth and Max with four, and Clay is in
- 33:40Speaker 2: first place with five points.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I can't move on.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Clay will not advance.
- 33:46Speaker 5: What if I came back next week?
- 33:48Speaker 1: If you come back, you'll play. You'll make it.
- 33:52Speaker 5: Five hundred dollars to pay for a p.
- 33:55Speaker 1: We'll start We'll start a what is a five oh travel? Question?
- 34:02Speaker 6: Nine?
- 34:03Speaker 1: The topic is conservation. This is our listener Question of
- 34:06Speaker 1: the Week, which was won by Wyatt Flesher for sending
- 34:09Speaker 1: this great question, Wyatt is going to get a book
- 34:11Speaker 1: signed by Steve. Three years after the Kyahoga River went
- 34:16Speaker 1: up in flames, this legislation was passed so that it
- 34:20Speaker 1: would never happen again, Clay, if you didn't know in Roman,
- 34:27Speaker 1: the question is behind you on the TV. If that
- 34:30Speaker 1: that will help you at all, here's the question again.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Three years after the Cayahoga River went up in flames,
- 34:38Speaker 1: this legislation was passed so that it would never happen again. Seth,
- 34:45Speaker 1: do you think you have this one right?
- 34:49Speaker 3: I think I'm close.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Logan you were? You were the quickest to answer. Do
- 34:53Speaker 1: you think you have this one right?
- 34:54Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 34:54Speaker 3: I think so?
- 34:55Speaker 2: Is that really?
- 34:58Speaker 3: Where's that river that Becky's not gonna help you?
- 35:02Speaker 1: Max and Logan? Do you guys agree with each other's
- 35:04Speaker 1: answers or do you have something different?
- 35:07Speaker 3: I don't think there's any sharing of answers. I shared
- 35:10Speaker 3: with him.
- 35:11Speaker 1: But three years after the Kyahoga River went up in flames,
- 35:16Speaker 1: this legislation was passed so that it would never happen again. Corey,
- 35:24Speaker 1: are you now protesting the game after the Heartland answer?
- 35:28Speaker 4: No?
- 35:28Speaker 1: No, I am still upset, but I just don't have
- 35:30Speaker 1: an answer to this one.
- 35:32Speaker 5: I crossed out. I crossed out my previous answer, which
- 35:36Speaker 5: won't county.
- 35:38Speaker 1: We'll acknowledge it.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Well, I mean you don't have to acknowledge it. Just
- 35:42Speaker 5: it just felt like a waste of erase.
- 35:44Speaker 2: It so much more modest than Steve was like read
- 35:49Speaker 2: my answer.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Corey, are you gonna come up with
- 35:55Speaker 1: an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 35:58Speaker 1: Seth saying Clean Water Act, Logan saying Clean Water Act,
- 36:02Speaker 1: saying Clean Waste Act, Hillary's saying Clean Water Act, ELSA
- 36:07Speaker 1: without an answer, Roman without an answer, Clay saying the
- 36:10Speaker 1: Clean Water Act. He crossed out the Kyahoga Act, and
- 36:14Speaker 1: he drew a bunch of flames. Corey without an answer.
- 36:17Speaker 1: The correct answer is the Clean Water Act. The room.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I did pretty well.
- 36:23Speaker 3: I was one letter off.
- 36:25Speaker 1: The Clean Water Act, which is technically called the Federal
- 36:29Speaker 1: Water Pollution Control Act, is the primary federal law that
- 36:33Speaker 1: governs water pollution. The bill was originally vetoed by President
- 36:37Speaker 1: Richard Nixon, who said it was too expensive, but the
- 36:40Speaker 1: next day the Senate and House both voted to override
- 36:43Speaker 1: his veto, which got the bill to pass. Phil we
- 36:47Speaker 1: are on too. Question ten, where does the leaderboard stand?
- 36:51Speaker 2: Well for sure that Clay is not going to be
- 36:54Speaker 2: coming back and he won't be able to raise enough
- 36:55Speaker 2: on the GoFundMe page, ill I won't score.
- 36:58Speaker 3: He's got six points.
- 36:59Speaker 1: You're still winy.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, We've got Roman, Hillary, and Alyssa all with
- 37:04Speaker 2: two points, and then Logan and Corey have three, Max
- 37:08Speaker 2: has four, and Seth has five points.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Okay, so we have Seth moving on. We have Max,
- 37:15Speaker 1: who is has a one point lead with who is
- 37:18Speaker 1: he barely beating.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Corey and Logan.
- 37:20Speaker 1: We would need Corey and Logan to get this right,
- 37:23Speaker 1: Max to get it wrong to go to a tiebreaker,
- 37:26Speaker 1: but we already know that Seth is going to the championship.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Episode question ten, the topic is woodsmanship. This toy, which
- 37:35Speaker 1: was invented in nineteen sixteen, inspired the name of a
- 37:39Speaker 1: campfire building technique in which wood is stacked in a
- 37:43Speaker 1: square pile around tinder. This toy, which was invented in
- 37:51Speaker 1: nineteen sixteen, inspired the name of a campfire building technique
- 37:56Speaker 1: in which wood is stacked in a square pile around tinder.
- 38:00Speaker 3: You want the name of the toy, not the name.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Of the toy.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Hey can I, uh, what do you got?
- 38:07Speaker 1: Clay Well, I.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Was gonna go back to the Clean Water Act Bear Grease.
- 38:12Speaker 5: We just did a big four part series on the
- 38:14Speaker 5: Mississippi River. I went into it not knowing a lot
- 38:18Speaker 5: really about the river. Huh. I interviewed some of the
- 38:22Speaker 5: top river hydrologists and fisheries biologists with the corp of
- 38:25Speaker 5: Engineers about the lower Mississippi and was kind of shocked
- 38:31Speaker 5: to find out the health of the Mississippi River. Yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 5: really strong. The fishery of the missis the body of
- 38:38Speaker 5: the Mississippi River is incredibly robust. There are no endangered
- 38:44Speaker 5: specie or no species have gone extinct out of the river.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Sure it.
- 38:48Speaker 5: It was pretty encouraging if.
- 38:49Speaker 1: You had that conversation fifty years ago, though it probably
- 38:51Speaker 1: would have been significantly more bleak. I saw a stat
- 38:54Speaker 1: that it was like before the Clean Water Act, only
- 38:57Speaker 1: one third of our waterways or safe to even swim in,
- 39:01Speaker 1: and now I think they're up to like seventy five percent.
- 39:05Speaker 1: It's everybody ready to name the children's toy. Go ahead
- 39:10Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have saying Lincoln log Logan
- 39:14Speaker 1: saying Lincoln log Max saying logs, building blocks, Hillary saying
- 39:19Speaker 1: Lincoln logs, Alyssa saying Jenga, Roman saying Lincoln logs, Clay
- 39:24Speaker 1: saying Lincoln logs, Corey saying Lincoln logs. The correct answer
- 39:28Speaker 1: is Lincoln logs, which means we are going to a
- 39:33Speaker 1: tiebreaker between Max and Cory and Logan.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Whoa wow.
- 39:39Speaker 1: The Lincoln log campfire is said to be the best
- 39:41Speaker 1: style of campfire for cooking over. It's created by laying
- 39:45Speaker 1: wood in alternating directions until you form a pile that
- 39:49Speaker 1: resembles a log cabin. Lincoln Logs, which are in the
- 39:52Speaker 1: National Toy Hall of Fame, were invented by the son
- 39:55Speaker 1: of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Play the drop, Phil,
- 40:00Speaker 1: we are going to overtime, TI, how they.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Just cut it at if you ain't first your laughs
- 40:09Speaker 2: and then like going to other stuff.
- 40:10Speaker 5: It's funny.
- 40:11Speaker 4: I never liked it, a Phil cough Man.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Now to clear some things up, we have Clay who
- 40:17Speaker 1: has won the game correct outright. We have Seth who
- 40:20Speaker 1: would be moving on to the championship, and now we
- 40:23Speaker 1: are finding out who the last competitor is between Mex,
- 40:26Speaker 1: Logan and Corey to get the final spot. The tie
- 40:30Speaker 1: breaking topic is cooking. This great question was sent by
- 40:34Speaker 1: Caleb McClain. What percentage of Texas hunters said they always
- 40:40Speaker 1: utilize feral hog meat by eating it or giving it away?
- 40:46Speaker 1: This is a numerical question. I will have you right
- 40:48Speaker 1: to one decimal point. The closest person to the correct
- 40:53Speaker 1: answer will be declared the finalist for the championship episode.
- 40:58Speaker 1: But everyone else should play along anyway, because if somebody
- 41:00Speaker 1: hits it right on the nose, we will add an
- 41:02Speaker 1: extra one hundred dollars donation to the end of the show.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Here is the prompt again, what percentage of Texas hunters
- 41:10Speaker 1: said they always utilize feral hog meat by eating it
- 41:15Speaker 1: or giving it away? And this was a twenty twenty
- 41:17Speaker 1: three survey given to four hundred hog hunters.
- 41:22Speaker 5: I think, in honor of Bob Barker's death that if
- 41:26Speaker 5: you go over, it shouldn't count.
- 41:28Speaker 1: We never do the prices right rules. But maybe we'll
- 41:31Speaker 1: close out the show with a different tagline instead of
- 41:34Speaker 1: our usual one ninety nine.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Did anyone see the meme of about how he got
- 41:40Speaker 5: so close to one hundred without going over?
- 41:42Speaker 1: That's good, that is good.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I didn't see that but that's good.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer for the percentage of Texas
- 41:52Speaker 1: hunters who said they always utilize feral hog meat by
- 41:55Speaker 1: eating it or giving it away? Again, we're down to Cory,
- 41:59Speaker 1: Max and Logan. Everybody ready, Max, Oh, he's change change
- 42:05Speaker 1: of heart to one percentage point writing, go ahead and
- 42:14Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Set saying eighteen percent. Hillary
- 42:18Speaker 1: saying ninety three point three, Alyssa is saying seventy two
- 42:22Speaker 1: point one, Roman saying sixty five, Clay saying thirty our
- 42:28Speaker 1: three finalists, Corey saying thirty four percent, Max saying eighty
- 42:32Speaker 1: eight point eight percent, Logan saying eighty two point five percent.
- 42:38Speaker 1: The correct answer is forty eight percent, making Corey our winner.
- 42:46Speaker 4: I deserved it.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Corey forty eight percent said they always utilize the meat
- 42:50Speaker 1: by eating it or giving away. Well done, Corey. I
- 42:53Speaker 1: felt bad about the heartland question, but here you are anyway.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Ball don't lie. That's what they say, right Clay, Ball
- 42:59Speaker 1: don't lie.
- 43:00Speaker 5: I've never heard that before.
- 43:03Speaker 1: You say that. You say that to Chep sometime and
- 43:05Speaker 1: then he'll he'll just be like, yeah, Dad, Ball don't lie.
- 43:07Speaker 1: That's right. Well done, Corey and Seth. Moving on, These
- 43:11Speaker 1: were two of our finalists last year as well, and
- 43:14Speaker 1: here we are again the same two fellas going to
- 43:17Speaker 1: the championship. How does it feel?
- 43:19Speaker 3: Feels good? Yeah, I feel better, but I'm still pretty upset.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Okay didn't even need the tiebreaker in Corey's opinion. Now,
- 43:26Speaker 1: what would normally happen is Clay gets to choose where
- 43:28Speaker 1: the five hundred dollars donation from Meat Eater goes. But
- 43:31Speaker 1: because this is part of the tournament, we're doing something
- 43:33Speaker 1: a little different. Here's what's going to happen. We are
- 43:35Speaker 1: banking each donation until the end of the tournament. So
- 43:39Speaker 1: instead of four five hundred dollars donations, the trivia champion
- 43:43Speaker 1: is going to get is going to make one two
- 43:45Speaker 1: thousand dollars donation. It'll be the biggest donation in Meat
- 43:49Speaker 1: Eater trivia history. Very good, Clay. You could maybe lobby
- 43:53Speaker 1: for Corey and Seth in case they make it to
- 43:56Speaker 1: the championship and win.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Thinking about how five dollars a week is a pretty
- 44:03Speaker 5: generous donation. We lost one hundred.
- 44:06Speaker 1: We start off with one hundred. The Meat Eater was
- 44:09Speaker 1: willing to up it. I think we're over thirty thousand
- 44:11Speaker 1: dollars now that we've given to conservation organizations from the show. Yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 1: that's big, very exciting. Corey and Seth moving on. Thanks
- 44:21Speaker 1: job guys. Next week next week starts. It will be
- 44:27Speaker 1: two episode championship. It's going to be twenty questions to
- 44:31Speaker 1: determine our winner instead of just ten. Very excited. Join
- 44:36Speaker 1: us next time for more Meat Eater Trivia, the only
- 44:38Speaker 1: game show where conservation always wins. And make sure you
- 44:42Speaker 1: spay and neuter your pets, all right, that's what Bob
- 44:46Speaker 1: Barker always said. Clay suggest
