[SPEAKER_00]: Hello!
0:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Demonscubion.pl podcast, that's Albuquerque on Earth thanks for being patient with us last week.
0:12
[SPEAKER_00]: When a nuclear flu wiped out the entire war household and that's an important detail Albert to a story that I'm going to tell you about my world cup experience.
0:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Albert is going, I have been and I am encouraging him not to come to go.
0:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not allowed to let me though.
0:30
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a
0:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Connor, Connor went for work reasons.
0:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going with my kids.
0:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
0:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so, like, I think Connor's experience might be slightly different than mine, but there's one key element that won't be different for me than it is for you, I think, right?
0:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's actually freaking getting.
0:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Getting out getting there was fine, right great media shuttle They picked this up at the courtyard, which was like two miles away now.
0:57
[SPEAKER_01]: We got there four hours early Right like that's the part like where I can't trust you because I I guess we could show up four hours early
1:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know.
1:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I saw the, just before you get started here, let me pull this up, because I saw the prices at Boston Stadium, right?
1:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you see like Levi Stadium's Twitter account, by the way?
1:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
1:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's Larry.
1:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so hold on one second.
1:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a so.
1:25
[SPEAKER_01]: the prices at Boston say and which I mean like they aren't crazy relative like what you be paying an American sporting event anyway but this was I thought this was interesting so like a bag of lays potato chips is seven dollars right that's like pretty outrageous but you pay more when you're in a van like this right so ice creams eight bucks candies are eight bucks cotton candies eight bucks
1:50
[SPEAKER_01]: They have something called a cheese cup, which sounds like somebody doing a dad job of translating something to English, right?
1:59
[SPEAKER_01]: For 250.
2:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's probably your dipping.
2:02
[SPEAKER_00]: You like your nacho cheese.
2:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably your dipping cheese.
2:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you think so?
2:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
2:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yeah.
2:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say, like, I was gonna say, like if a bag of lays potato chips is $7, then the cheese cup for $250 must be absolutely disgusting.
2:18
[SPEAKER_01]: It must be freaking gross.
2:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, what I'm saying?
2:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it.
2:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
2:24
[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine because it sounds like a good deal.
2:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not touching the cheese cup.
2:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just melted.
2:30
[SPEAKER_00]: She come on.
2:31
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, you're hurting us.
2:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was going to be like assorted cheeses or something like that.
2:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it walks with cheese.
2:38
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that.
2:40
[SPEAKER_00]: you got to get out of the sweeten into the stands with the people and eat some hot melted velvita.
2:47
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so we, we get there and you know, everything's fine.
2:51
[SPEAKER_00]: The game was awesome.
2:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I just got to see Brazil, Morocco tie.
2:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, seeing Brazil, they had like an 80, 20 fan advantage.
2:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Their fans are a blast, right?
3:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's singing, drumming, you know, the whole thing.
3:03
[SPEAKER_00]: It was exactly what I wanted out of the experience.
3:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about nine o'clock.
3:07
[SPEAKER_00]: um eight forty five there's a nine o'clock shuttle take us back to uh the hotel we walk over by the way that's the greatest thing about soccer like one thing i have come to and i've made fun of soccer over the years i'm coming around now i i think one of the great things about soccer is you are in and out so fast like we get an hour and forty five minutes you know that right i mean now there's at you know in the play officer you know or whatever in the knockout stages is actually
3:34
[SPEAKER_00]: By and large, you know, you know how long it's going to take.
3:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
3:38
[SPEAKER_00]: So we get to the 9 o'clock shuttle.
3:40
[SPEAKER_00]: The guy goes 9 o'clock shuttle left at 845.
3:43
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like just hanging out for the 930 shuttle.
3:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
3:46
[SPEAKER_00]: 930 shuttle doesn't show up.
3:47
[SPEAKER_00]: 10 o'clock shuttle doesn't show up.
3:49
[SPEAKER_00]: 1030 shuttle doesn't show up.
3:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Because the area outside the stadium is completely gridlocked.
3:54
[SPEAKER_00]: So all the shuttles that left can't get back in.
3:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
3:57
[SPEAKER_00]: So we call an Uber, a Uber is about a mile and a quarter walk away on the other side of the middle and the racetrack.
4:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Guy accepts our Uber ride.
4:05
[SPEAKER_01]: A mile and a quarter you're saying.
4:07
[SPEAKER_01]: from the parking lot.
4:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so that's probably 25 minutes.
4:10
[SPEAKER_00]: 25 minutes.
4:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
4:12
[SPEAKER_00]: So 25 minute walk, we get almost there and then a woman goes, oh, did the Uber driver accept your ride?
4:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And we were like, yeah, and she said, okay, this is happening to everyone.
4:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Uber drivers don't know what's going on.
4:25
[SPEAKER_00]: They're accepting the rides.
4:26
[SPEAKER_00]: It takes 20 minutes to get to the gate and then they're being turned away.
4:29
[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, you're not gonna get on that thing.
4:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
4:32
[SPEAKER_00]: So then this is where the flu kicks in.
4:36
[SPEAKER_00]: I start getting the aches.
4:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I start getting the chills.
4:39
[SPEAKER_00]: My stomach feels like a bucket of lead.
4:42
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no media food there.
4:43
[SPEAKER_00]: So the only thing I had was this like bucket of fried chicken that I found.
4:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you can't now wait, it is a key.
4:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Were you counting on, you know, like were you counting on like the media food for dinner?
4:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
4:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
4:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So there was important key to you are so you have any.
5:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
5:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
5:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you were counting on it, then if you had gotten something before, then that's different.
5:05
[SPEAKER_01]: But this is that that's a key to the story.
5:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
5:08
[SPEAKER_00]: I went down to the concourse and bought like this weird bucket of fried chicken and it like needless straight enough.
5:15
[SPEAKER_00]: This is sitting well.
5:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
5:16
[SPEAKER_00]: No cheese cup.
5:18
[SPEAKER_00]: So in my mind now, I'm like, I got to get out of here.
5:21
[SPEAKER_00]: You're not
5:22
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't leave on foot, okay?
5:24
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, I don't know how I'm going to get out.
5:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I have to yak.
5:28
[SPEAKER_00]: My body is shutting down and I have about a mile to walk back to this other bus.
5:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And so stash away into a port of potty.
5:37
[SPEAKER_00]: I just pulled the trigger on it because I'm like, you know what, get the ax out like we got to get it out of the first.
5:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Just just it's like I had a moment like that.
5:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you about after you don't hear story.
5:46
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll go ahead.
5:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So we boot and rally, and then we find this guy that's like, I'm going to Sokakis and Sokakis is nowhere near where my cars and I was just like whatever I got to get out of the metal lands somehow.
6:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So we get on this bus to Sokakis that also, you know, and then we're like, okay, thank God, like we're out.
6:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Just make you maybe we can get an Uber in Sokakis.
6:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
6:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
6:11
[SPEAKER_00]: And then it hits me.
6:13
[SPEAKER_00]: the place is still gridlock so the bus just goes like okay we're off and then a second later just stops so now we're standing there you're sitting on a bus the hour and 15 minutes of and like I feel like I'm dying I have a little cell phone that I clipped onto the window and I watched the next when the day title on myself 1240 we got to like
6:38
[SPEAKER_00]: the guy had to stop at a hotel right outside of the gate and we were like, let us out, we're done, get us out of here.
6:44
[SPEAKER_00]: So we ran off the bus, we found in Uber, the Uber driver takes us to Lynnhurst, we got in the, oh my god.
6:51
[SPEAKER_00]: So like one o'clock the morning finally got home, it was stuck, but like, I'm just saying, I would never do that again.
6:58
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
7:03
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't.
7:04
[SPEAKER_00]: That was like, I mean, they're forcing you to take the public transportation, but the problem is like, you know, you're just right here, not going to New York.
7:13
[SPEAKER_00]: They're back in New Jersey.
7:15
[SPEAKER_01]: They're actually advising people here not to take public transportation, which we're talking about.
7:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Foxboro is one road in one road out, which is not that different than the metal lands, which is Route 3.
7:25
[SPEAKER_00]: It's Route 3 is just a slightly bigger version of Route 1
7:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It's right on the dirty term, like where is like root one is like 95 and 495 or pretty far.
7:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, yeah, I don't know.
7:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think that the, yeah.
7:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Why was it necessary to fence off these parking lots?
7:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
7:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Like what I understand like the security perimeter aspect of it, which, but it seems like this is like, and it seems like this is like a completely unforester.
8:04
[SPEAKER_01]: And FIFA doesn't care because like, I mean, whatever, you know.
8:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Like here, they were making fun of this in the radio last week.
8:12
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the first time anybody's ever heard.
8:14
[SPEAKER_01]: People get up in front of a microphone and tell people not to take public transportation.
8:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and look, like the guy who was up there was like the CEO of the craft sports group.
8:27
[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe he wants people to pay whatever it is for the few parking spots they do have down there.
8:33
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
8:34
[SPEAKER_01]: But here, they're forcing everybody into Boston, right?
8:39
[SPEAKER_01]: And we talked about this before the show, right?
8:41
[SPEAKER_01]: My mind's a mess right now.
8:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I think this was off the air when you and I were talking about this, right?
8:46
[SPEAKER_01]: But here,
8:47
[SPEAKER_01]: like to get that to the train, the only train that goes to Foxboro, you have to go into Boston, right?
8:54
[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to go into the city to come back and there are no, and even though that rail has like major train stations along the way, they're not opening any of those.
9:05
[SPEAKER_01]: You just, you have to get in at South Station in Boston which is in the heart of the city, you know?
9:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's just like, it's almost like they're creating problems.
9:16
[SPEAKER_01]: But didn't ever have to exist, right?
9:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
9:22
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, but the problem is like, FIFA does take all that parking lot space.
9:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it is a sprawl, right?
9:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, there is all the interviews happen in the parking lot.
9:34
[SPEAKER_00]: There's an accreditation tent in the parking lot.
9:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they have everything.
9:39
[SPEAKER_01]: and it wasn't just empty because like people are okay.
9:43
[SPEAKER_01]: So people were posting pictures from Foxboro of like empty like there's like one bus parked and like a completely empty parking lot like and like there was nothing there.
9:54
[SPEAKER_01]: So this so park in Los Angeles, you were actually full of stuff.
9:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and uh but man it was uh
10:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It was an event.
10:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I enjoyed the in-game experience that I love the world cup.
10:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was up last night watching Tunisia and Sweden.
10:15
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, who won?
10:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't make it to the end.
10:20
[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, it was one of those things where I think I can comfortably say I'll probably never do that again.
10:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just,
10:32
[SPEAKER_01]: So you are one for harrowing travel journeys Albert and I don't think you're prepared to go into the belly of the beast on this one I really don't we have three families going right It's around a 32 game so it's probably gonna be I looked it up I think with my vast soccer knowledge I can project the Germany is gonna be there
10:53
[SPEAKER_01]: because it's the winner of Germany's group that goes and Germany won their first game, like seven to one.
10:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
10:58
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's gonna be Germany.
11:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how passionate they're feeling, like if this is gonna be like a, like everybody would, I'd be my last names, German.
11:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that people with German descent are gonna descend on like Foxboro Massachusetts for a game they're probably gonna win anyway.
11:18
[SPEAKER_01]: And if it's gonna turn into that kind of disaster,
11:22
[SPEAKER_01]: car service there for two suburbans is $1,300 and we're thinking about doing it.
11:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
11:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's just like we would take the headache out of it and our guys who do do car serve who have great, like the guys that takes me to the airport all the time,
11:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he like knows everything about going in and out of that stadium so he'll be able to navigate it and I don't and I think he's going to go before that round a 32 game or maybe already did so they may have some of the tricks worked out there also we also a friend of a friend also had someone in Foxborough and this I think what could be key to that let them park in their yard is like a mile away from the stadium.
12:09
[SPEAKER_01]: which I don't know if there's anything that we can finagle there, but yeah, it sounds like, I mean, I don't know, it's a great event, like it's a great event, and I'm so excited to go and see it, but it sounds like the war of the world is trying to get there.
12:25
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the problem, by the way, with having all these stadiums and the suburbs.
12:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and that, too, right, you know what I mean?
12:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, if, if that game, like let's just say, for example, if that, if the jets built that stadium on the west side of Manhattan, that they were talking about building before met life, even, um, even when they should have.
12:46
[SPEAKER_01]: But if they did, because I remember that was all contingent on New York's Olympic bid, which they eventually dropped the Olympic bid.
12:51
[SPEAKER_01]: But,
12:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I imagine that would be much easier.
12:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Like not to say it wouldn't be a massive probably would be to some degree, but I would think that getting people internet out of their old probably a lot easier than it is, whatever it is, seven or eight miles away and these are other words.
13:08
[SPEAKER_00]: What you guys need is a dog and with a car, like in the car service realm.
13:15
[SPEAKER_00]: And I got one,
13:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I was, I was leaving Houston last week on Monday and some of the stuff that I was doing ram long, some leaving Houston at 430, my flight's at 630, it's an hour and 20 minutes to the airport because of drive time traffic.
13:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I got this guy Mohammed on my Uber and he's like, I'm 12 minutes away and I said listen man, like,
13:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I got to get to the airport and he goes, what time should flight and six o'clock and he goes, I got this and he comes I want those guys.
13:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, dude.
13:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I love those guys who are competitive.
13:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, almost.
13:57
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
13:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
13:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it comes flying up to the stadium, right?
14:03
[SPEAKER_00]: throws the car, throws the four ways on, gets out in the middle of live traffic.
14:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Scoops by shit, throws it into the back of the truck, and he's like, let's go.
14:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And we are off, and I was like, hell yeah.
14:15
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you need to get out of the world cup.
14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I love that, like, only option.
14:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't it like when you're in the car with a guy who, like it's almost like you guys are on the same team?
14:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you know what I mean like yeah, he's gonna get you there.
14:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and like he let you like the best or when like the guy even like let you co-pilot a little bit You know what I mean like it's yeah, love that like so shout out to Mohammed and Houston
14:40
[SPEAKER_01]: big time.
14:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, enough of that, we're talking about some early award projects.
14:46
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, my real quick, my story about almost throwing up on Saturday.
14:53
[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't some connection that me and Connor have where I was feeling his pain.
14:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I was at a lacrosse tournament all weekend, which is why I'm like, look, like I was in the beach, which I wasn't.
15:03
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's
15:09
[SPEAKER_01]: My 11 year old is very under all coasters right now, do not ride roller coasters consecutively in your 40s now.
15:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I went on like seven in a row.
15:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I was so woozy.
15:21
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I've.
15:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know other than like running on artificial turf.
15:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if there's anything that's melting made me feel my age more than Saturday did.
15:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, the last two, I was on the verge of like, I think I might need to throw up.
15:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And I went on the Superman ride, which goes 77 miles an hour.
15:45
[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know which part of it I couldn't handle, maybe all of it.
15:53
[SPEAKER_00]: I would not recommend like now I know why as my dad got older, maybe he was a little bit more like you guys can go on that one your own on your own so I'm good my whole equilibrium is thrown off yeah we're you know in your 40s or you know Albert in this you're projecting your 40s now I'm projecting into my 40s I'm 30 just turned 38 life is just about trying
16:23
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... in uh... and and trying not to dive when leaving uh... public arena spaces this will be a fun one today like i said we're doing uh... some early award projections i feel like now awards are weird uh... so we're talking about offence player the year mvp defense player the year offence rookie their defensive coach the year um...
16:44
[SPEAKER_00]: My track record is not bad at this.
16:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And while it's hard to project a Super Bowl winner because it takes a lot, these awards, I feel like you can hit with a little bit more accuracy.
16:57
[SPEAKER_00]: For example, a lot of us pick Mike Rable who encode to the year last year.
17:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
17:03
[SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of the new coach, picking the new coach is sort of the cheat code.
17:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know what the numbers are on that.
17:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd probably be easy to look it up,
17:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, that like there's a pretty high percentage of first year coaches to win that award, right?
17:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
17:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the other thing too is it's sort of the algorithm, right where it's like, okay, what team is really bad, but has the potential to be really good.
17:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think a lot of times what happens is we're too simplistic in our voting.
17:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why like Bellachick should have won it eight times.
17:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he won it twice, which is hilarious.
17:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, one of the AFCs every year almost every year for like 20 years and he's coach of the year twice.
17:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Like Dan Campbell has yet to win coach of the year.
17:47
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think some, and then like Kevin Sefansky is one of twice because the Browns are so bad and then he brought them to the playoffs.
17:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
17:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that that's something you have to consider to I think I had Miles Garrett is defensive player the year last year, which I felt good about going into it.
18:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, offensive player, they're a little bit more difficult, but anyway, I want to kind of go through this because it gives us a nice little lens into where we're at as mandatory mini camps are shutting down teams are getting out of here and getting out of dodge.
18:15
[SPEAKER_00]: for the summer, but let's start with MVP and my my mistake has been I've picked Jilborough to win the MVP every year since 2023.
18:28
[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard you've got to admit like you can you do it?
18:33
[SPEAKER_00]: But like and it's one of those things where it's going to suck because one year I'm going to be right But then they're going to be like, yeah, you've been picking him every single year.
18:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just 2023.
18:44
[SPEAKER_00]: So it doesn't really count But this year feels like a year that is so Lined up for bro to just torch everybody and if we're a mock step on that That's fine.
18:53
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like you have to pick another guy, but I think it's burrow, right?
18:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I I love burrow for this award because I think
19:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that there is a there's a sense of urgency there that I don't know that has existed yet like and just that I think the last couple of years have shown that group of players this isn't forever.
19:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Dexter Lawrence trade, like amps the pressure up on everybody a little bit.
19:23
[SPEAKER_01]: There's pressure on our golden now.
19:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, like we went and got boy a motha from Seattle.
19:30
[SPEAKER_01]: We went and got Brian Cook from the chiefs, those are guys that are played in Super Bowl.
19:36
[SPEAKER_01]: You're bringing in Dexter Lawrence as the centerpiece for the defense.
19:40
[SPEAKER_01]: You hope that like some young guys like Schmart Stewart and Demetrius Knight come along.
19:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything's together and everything and those guys stay healthy, the offense should be ridiculous again, you know, and so what guy.
19:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Joe Burrow is, again, I wrote this last year, you know, we'll see, like, whether or not Drake may can break into the group, Caleb Williams can break into the group.
20:10
[SPEAKER_01]: We all thought that was going to be Jayden Daniel's last year, so I think those 20, 24 quarterbacks, like the three of them, are definitely guys to watch.
20:19
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but I think I'll give you the last five years.
20:22
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a very clear top four in Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Burrow.
20:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And Burrow is the only one of the four that hasn't won an MVP.
20:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he is very much at their level, you know?
20:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
20:36
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, um,
20:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I'm with you.
20:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Like now, if it's not burrow, who also are we looking at, just so we make this more than just the Joe Burrow show.
20:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I, here's my dark horse.
20:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Follow me here.
20:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
20:53
[SPEAKER_01]: What about Justin Herbert?
21:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I think tray Harris is a sneaky breakout candidate or receiver.
21:11
[SPEAKER_01]: LADM a 100% going into year three.
21:15
[SPEAKER_01]: You've got a Marion Hampton there now.
21:17
[SPEAKER_01]: You've brought in David and Joku and the biggest piece.
21:23
[SPEAKER_01]: like to me at least, I'll be honest coming into play center.
21:27
[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest piece to me is Mike McDaniel.
21:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And how Mike McDaniel, I think, is going to get him playing faster, you know?
21:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
21:35
[SPEAKER_01]: The marriage of McDaniel and Harba, which by all accounts just talking to everybody who's been there, like it's been great, you know what I mean?
21:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I had a conversation with McDaniel about this.
21:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I thought it was funny how he said publicly that Harba is the most secure person he's ever been around.
21:55
[SPEAKER_01]: You always hear about people called insecure.
21:58
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the most secure person I've ever been around.
22:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they're both sort of that way and I think they...
22:04
[SPEAKER_01]: there's a good vibe there.
22:05
[SPEAKER_01]: So like Justin Herbert would be somebody who would be on my list for this.
22:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Drake may's another one where, I mean the one thing that's sort of interesting about him is he hasn't had the same coordinator as a starter in consecutive years in high school.
22:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, go like do we see Drake may reach another level.
22:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I think all three of the 24 quarterbacks again like the guys at the top You can throw nicks in there if you want like those guys are interesting candidates as well But yeah, I mean, bro and Herbert would be the two that I would look at
22:36
[SPEAKER_00]: The the problem to me with Herbert and the thing that scares me with Herbert is like again, and it's just sort of cosmic, but yeah, we've been here with the chargers I've been here personally with the chargers every year since they hired Anthony Lynn is their head coach, you know, and there's something that they do in the off season that makes so much sense and it seems so smart and it seems like it's going to work out.
22:58
[SPEAKER_00]: And then for some reason it doesn't and I want to go back to burrow for just one second And that's a crappy reason to say that I don't think it's going to be Justin Herbert But yeah, look at this.
23:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so Joe Burrow's final five games of the season He was averaging like a 73% completion percentage.
23:16
[SPEAKER_00]: He had two four touchdown games a three touchdown game
23:21
[SPEAKER_00]: one stinker when they got blown out by Baltimore when I don't think he was still, you know, he didn't look 100% in that one, but played 55 plus steps in every single game and to me,
23:36
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, maybe, maybe the receiving core ages out, maybe Jamar Chase and T. Higgins are a little bit past the point where they're taking over games at this point.
23:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but you think that the one thing that I think that we didn't address really Albert is that there's a complimentary defense with the Bengals and an aspect of burrow being able to play with leads and not having to score 40 points a game, but still being able to.
23:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
24:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the victories will come and that helps your MVP candidacy.
24:04
[SPEAKER_00]: But again,
24:05
[SPEAKER_00]: We've been manifesting this with burrow as long as we've been manifesting it with the chargers.
24:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this is the year that one of these streaks comes to an end.
24:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't like preseason this is what's difficult about it.
24:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Minus tangible football hype gets out of control to a point where like we're imagining Mike
24:28
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think in our collective minds, it's like Mike like Leach at Texas Tech now and it's just not going to happen there, you know what we're doing and this the problem is this doesn't always work, you know what I mean, but I think we're all doing here is we're all looking at like okay like Mike make Daniel took to a
24:47
[SPEAKER_01]: up here right like might make it right so well if you give him just in her birth then he's going to go up here right you know what I mean like and I it doesn't always work out that way it doesn't you know what I mean like to think of a good example that I mean to always a really good I do is I don't think to is a great quarterback
25:05
[SPEAKER_01]: from an NFL, it's sort of an NFL lens, but he's a really good fit for Mike Matean, you know what I mean?
25:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was, so like is Justin Herbert going to be like, we know he's got other worldly physical ability, he's smart, he's a good leader, all of that, he checks a ton of boxes.
25:22
[SPEAKER_01]: But is the fit going to be perfect?
25:25
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's I think what you're looking at.
25:26
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's, I mean, it's going to be this going to look different than it did with Tua, you know what I mean?
25:33
[SPEAKER_01]: The Mike Lee-Dale dynamic is different too, because you had in Miami, these like catch-and-run sticks of dynamite in Jalen, Waterle, and Tyree Kill, right?
25:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Like with Tua, and in LA, what he's got, he's got some more like bigger taller, more physical targets, you know?
25:55
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's sort of a different look there too.
25:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Although Maconkey is, Maconkey is like kind of the catch-and-run guy.
26:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
26:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's sort of like, and I think we're learning our lesson here, and it's a different.
26:09
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's different, but, you know, when Kyle Shanahan drafted trade lands, I've missed guilty as anybody else.
26:15
[SPEAKER_00]: In Kevin O'Connell drafted JJ McCarthy.
26:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm missed guilty as anyone else.
26:18
[SPEAKER_00]: We automatically think brilliant coach.
26:22
[SPEAKER_00]: talented quarterback equals surplus of points.
26:27
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not necessarily how this works.
26:29
[SPEAKER_00]: We're still and I've been talking to coaches about this a lot over the last few weeks.
26:33
[SPEAKER_00]: We're still in a defensive edge period.
26:37
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the NFL is cyclical and it will come back around again, whether it's a rule change or whether it's something that gives offense to the permanent advantage.
26:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Defenses have
26:52
[SPEAKER_00]: the days of scoring 35 points of game in winning are over for now and they'll come back eventually right and I think that that's the um that's something that we have to think about when we're talking about Mike Bigdeniel and Justin Herbert anyway um next we have offensive player
27:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
27:20
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like best non-corder back.
27:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
27:23
[SPEAKER_01]: That's like order back.
27:24
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
27:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean like that's the way a lot of people interpret it.
27:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I think that's fair, you know, that's a fair way to look at it.
27:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I generally look at it like when I vote on this, I try to look at it as like.
27:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Who is most active at their job?
27:43
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
27:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a difference between most valuable player, most outstanding player.
27:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And the most valuable player is the guy who's got the greatest value to their team.
27:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I would tell you and then don't want to get into like the,
27:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to preempt our defensive player of the year conversation, but I think it's easy to present the case that right now Miles Garrett is better at his job than anyone else's football at their job.
28:07
[SPEAKER_01]: That does not mean he's the most valuable player.
28:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
28:10
[SPEAKER_01]: But like I think that that's the sort of the way you have to approach this is like who is going to be the most outstanding offensive player?
28:18
[SPEAKER_01]: The last year that was J.S.
28:21
[SPEAKER_01]: and I can't remember, I can't remember who I voted for.
28:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, J.S.
28:24
[SPEAKER_00]: and one defensive player there.
28:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody knows that.
28:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to the NFL, uh, botching his, uh, his trophy.
28:31
[SPEAKER_00]: But to me, there's a clear choice.
28:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, last year I voted from a cafe.
28:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I think he was, and McAfrey was come back, which is another word that I know it, and I think that one was obvious too, like this year, Jayden Daniels is going to win come back player there.
28:46
[SPEAKER_00]: We're not getting to come back player here in this, but I think if you're not betting on Jayden Daniels winning come back player the year, you have failed to understand this exercise at this point.
28:58
[SPEAKER_00]: My sneaky dark horse in that category is to show him lots of but we can get to that.
29:02
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's a anybody that anybody want, you know, that's not one that anybody wants to talk about right now.
29:07
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that he's having a decent spring.
29:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
29:10
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he'll probably play at least 10 games.
29:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he might look a little bit better under Todd monkey, but anyway.
29:15
[SPEAKER_00]: Offence a player of the year Albert is going to be and I'm putting my flag down in this I can almost guarantee that it's going to happen I think this team is going to lead the NFL and wins.
29:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this team is going to lead the NFL and scoring and that's Detroit Lions and Jamir Gips
29:33
[SPEAKER_00]: They have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL, Drew Petsing is really good at designing a run game.
29:39
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going right along with Sam Lines as you hear too, but you keep going.
29:43
[SPEAKER_00]: The Lions scored a lot of points last year despite having a broken offense and Dan Campbell needing to take over play calling.
29:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the fact that Ben Johnson's excellent, Ben Johnson's great.
29:54
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think the step-down is that pronounced when you go to someone like Petsing who is a very skilled play call or very good offensive coach who I think everything just ran as course in Arizona.
30:04
[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of good things die there in Arizona.
30:07
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
30:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I like the lions for a lot of things.
30:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I like them to make a playoff run.
30:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I like them to win the division.
30:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I like them to win a lot of games.
30:14
[SPEAKER_00]: And I like Jamir Gives to absolutely just tap dance all over the field this year.
30:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I think petsing that you know you go back to those James Connor teams in Arizona word right good, you know, I mean the run game looked really good.
30:27
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
30:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I reserve the right to change my mind of this.
30:31
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be John Robinson, okay?
30:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I look at like what Kevin's to fanski's able to do in the running game.
30:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I look at the history with Nick Chob.
30:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Now the first year that's to fanski and Nick Chob were together in Cleveland.
30:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Chub was probable all three years I'm on a rushing dial.
30:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
30:51
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not afraid to kind of put the operation on or running back and center everything on or running back.
30:57
[SPEAKER_01]: And I also think the one thing that you have in Atlanta that you don't have in Detroit, and I think Gibbs is a good pick.
31:04
[SPEAKER_01]: But Atlantis can be managing the quarterback situation, whether it's Tua in there or it's panics coming back off the ACL.
31:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think there's going to have to be some management there of the quarterback situation.
31:17
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think a lot of these awards come down to opportunities and like how much you're getting the ball, how the teams getting you the ball, how creative they are and getting you the ball.
31:27
[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think, like, the difference to me with when you compare B-John and Gibbs, which they're going to be tied together, like the contracts are both, you know, like both questions now going into training camp, how do those guys handle their contract negotiations, if training camp starts, they don't have their deals yet, like they're going to be tied together all year.
31:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think, like, when you're talking about opportunity, Robinson is far and away the best player
31:56
[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that that's necessarily the case with Gibbs.
32:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, on Monroe St. Brown's really good.
32:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Jamison Williams has gotten a lot better.
32:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Goff is a really good quarterback.
32:06
[SPEAKER_01]: So I just from an opportunity standpoint from a workload standpoint, I just think B-John is going to have that team on his back for a lot of the year.
32:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you're right.
32:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, defense gear.
32:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why, by the way, if I'm B-John, I am not buckling a chin strap until my contract's done.
32:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
32:27
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it will give too.
32:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
32:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, my one concern and I'm curious if you share this.
32:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I know that I'm going first and I'm stealing the best candidate for most of these.
32:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And so forcing you to defend something that may be your one be choice.
32:40
[SPEAKER_00]: I fully recognize that.
32:42
[SPEAKER_00]: My one concern with be John.
32:45
[SPEAKER_00]: is how many times the falcons going to be ahead of the sticks this year, especially if that's true, it's got a, especially if two has got a helm significant games.
32:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, just an extension of this, how many dolphins fans who violently defended this man and clouded my comments with disgusting language?
33:04
[SPEAKER_00]: are going to come out of the woodwork and say he's still a good quarterback that no one understands how good he is in Atlanta with Kevin Stephanski.
33:11
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just curious, or were you just militant dolphins fans trying to, uh, you know, yeah, two and a none.
33:17
[SPEAKER_00]: It got dicey.
33:18
[SPEAKER_00]: It came by the way.
33:20
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Peter.
33:20
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fitting, by the way, because it's the same level of like cheese, man.
33:25
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where this shit coming from, but I think we're in locks up here.
33:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's one of the premium bags.
33:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I mean, there could be a JSN that comes out of nowhere.
33:36
[SPEAKER_00]: If borrow isn't the MVP is Jamar Chase, the offensive player of the year.
33:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think we have,
33:42
[SPEAKER_00]: some chances there.
33:42
[SPEAKER_00]: But again, I think that that shift Albert and this is sort of the underpinning of it.
33:48
[SPEAKER_00]: That shift to 12 and 13 personnel to me.
33:51
[SPEAKER_00]: and all the teams frantic and I want to I have a follow point to this in a second, but all the teams frantic scrambling to get that extra tight end and to overdraft that extra tight end and to get the 12 personnel 13 personnel means what we're going to run the ball you know what I mean we're going to run the ball and just as a counter just as a kind of an extension of this I was talking to a defensive coach about the see other day.
34:17
[SPEAKER_00]: you're already late.
34:18
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
34:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Like Sean McVay came up with 13 person.
34:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Not came up with it.
34:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Start running a lot of 13 personnel.
34:23
[SPEAKER_00]: All these teams are like slamming through the turn style trying to get 13 personnel too bad.
34:29
[SPEAKER_00]: All the defensive coordinators have already studied it.
34:31
[SPEAKER_00]: They know how to slow it down.
34:33
[SPEAKER_00]: They know how to stop it.
34:34
[SPEAKER_00]: You're you're late to the party.
34:35
[SPEAKER_00]: You're wearing the cool pants two years after they came out.
34:39
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and now McVay and those guys are going to be on to the next thing.
34:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Just watch.
34:46
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of options here, but, and I'll kick it to you by saying this, and I'll let you pick first by saying this.
34:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I still think that the award belongs to pass rushers because,
35:02
[SPEAKER_00]: we're in a down period for offensive line talent.
35:05
[SPEAKER_00]: That's how the Seahawks won the Super Bowl.
35:06
[SPEAKER_00]: They loaded up on defensive line.
35:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, and they beat up on, and they short-circuit it a lot of offensive lines.
35:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I still think we're in a down period for the offensive line.
35:16
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that the award belongs to a past Russia.
35:19
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm ready to be proven wrong, Albert, what's say you?
35:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So I really, I wanna go with Will Anderson here.
35:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
35:29
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I want to go with because I just think he is such a freak and I think one thing that insulates him when it comes to just putting up statistics is what's around him, right?
35:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Like so it's not as easy for other teams to say like we're going to throw the kitchen sink it will Anderson.
35:47
[SPEAKER_01]: and tell with everyone else.
35:49
[SPEAKER_01]: That D line is ridiculous across the board.
35:52
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got another really high level guy on the other side of the Neil Hunter, their deep, you know, so like I want to say well Anderson, but I'm going to go with Miles Garrett.
36:02
[SPEAKER_01]: And
36:03
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the easy pick.
36:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying not to overthink it and honestly do like for me I just went back and I looked at Aaron Donald when McVay got his hands on him and it sounds weird to say because McVay is an offensive coach, but
36:18
[SPEAKER_01]: You remember like Sean got in there and hired Wade Phillips and it was like what the hell are they going to do with, you know, it like stumpy
36:40
[SPEAKER_01]: That's generally not what a 3, 4D line man looks like, right?
36:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
36:44
[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to play Donald on the nose because he's too good in attacking gaps.
36:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And then you have him like, you know, he's not a five technique.
36:53
[SPEAKER_01]: So what do you do with him?
36:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And at that point, Aaron Donald had been first team all pro and 15 and first team and all pro and 16.
37:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And in his first four years with Sean McVeigh, he won defense a player of the year three times.
37:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was because, in part, of an emphasis that Sean and Wade had on, we're just gonna highlight the hell with a scheme.
37:17
[SPEAKER_01]: We're just gonna highlight what this guy does.
37:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
37:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to get the most out of them.
37:22
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's a huge part of Sean's program and why they've been there been so many great individual performances over the last decade with the Rams.
37:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And they always find a way to get the most out of people.
37:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was interesting having this conversation with somebody with the Rams.
37:37
[SPEAKER_01]: And I asked a few of the guys like while the trade was happening.
37:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Like when you looked at table, it really stood out to you.
37:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I surprised you.
37:43
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like we knew what a great player he was.
37:45
[SPEAKER_01]: But you're not really studying them the way you
37:50
[SPEAKER_01]: So we saw him on cross tape.
37:51
[SPEAKER_01]: We saw him when we were playing against the Browns.
37:53
[SPEAKER_01]: But are we really studying him to that degree?
37:56
[SPEAKER_01]: No, and then you are.
37:58
[SPEAKER_01]: And one person said to me was really interesting.
38:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't know the miles is really seen as a guy.
38:03
[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't really a first guy in, last guy out guy in Cleveland.
38:06
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
38:08
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a different guy.
38:09
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a lot of interest outside of football.
38:11
[SPEAKER_01]: But
38:12
[SPEAKER_01]: What really stuck out to them was his football IQ and they could see it in the way that he dealt with everything that the other team was throwing at him.
38:19
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, whether it's sliding, it's chipping, it's double teams, triple teams, in some cases, like you can see his football IQ and how he combated all that.
38:30
[SPEAKER_01]: And like that was in Cleveland where they were playing from behind a lot, so the past rush opportunities weren't as bad as we'll.
38:38
[SPEAKER_01]: And he didn't have a ton with him on the defensive line.
38:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Like they were always trying to figure out who was going to be opposite him on the other edge.
38:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't remember the last time they had a really great defensive tackle there.
38:48
[SPEAKER_01]: So now he's going to be on a deal line with Byron Young and Kobe Turner and Braden Fisk and
38:59
[SPEAKER_01]: just think like it's tough to win on an award like that two years in a row, but I think you could have 20 sacks again.
39:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he could do, but what I think that make they my prediction and this is a prediction, obviously, is that Garrett, when I was talking to a few defensive coaches about this, the value in Garrett.
39:19
[SPEAKER_00]: is putting him somewhere and knowing that people aren't going to go there, and if you're smart enough as a coach, you can design a defense around that to basically be like, okay, I'm going to put miles over here, I'm going to put everybody else, you know, this is too simplistic that I'm going to put everybody else over there, and then those guys are going to eat and maybe Garrett has a tough time, he's soaking up blocks, but he's also going to win a super bowl, and so I don't think he's going to be that upset about it.
39:43
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's a possibility that Garrett is more decoys the wrong word because obviously he's going to demolish in one-on-one situations.
39:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Pat, you know, he's going to be able to get to eat.
39:55
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think on a lot of downs, I think what Miles wind up being is sort of a
40:02
[SPEAKER_00]: a weather vein to tell the defense for everybody else where the offense is going right which is not towards him but I could I could be wrong you know but I do think that there's a reason why the Rams wanted him so badly and and that and that might be it by the way I'm just with you I think it's going to be one of the Texans that it's either going to be willing to enter center to kneel hunter one of those guys is going to lead the NFL and
40:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, all of that.
40:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, uh, I think it's wild.
40:34
[SPEAKER_00]: And uh, I don't think there's any doubt my mind that, uh, Houston, uh, Houston's up.
40:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I mean, I think like,
40:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I think of CJ Strauss can be one of the 10 best quarterbacks in football this year.
40:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Like they have a chance to win the whole thing.
40:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I, that defense played at a different speed than I think I can remember any defense playing last year.
40:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember staying this to one of their guys when they were up here and that stealers play off game that they played.
41:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there was, I felt like when you watched that on TV and I was at Monday night game.
41:15
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like Aaron Rodgers would check the ball down underneath and you get like, you know, whoever jail and Warren catching the ball underneath, you know, like, and like there'd be nobody on the screen and then like a split second later, like three guys are there, you know what I mean, like just how fast they close, how how, how, how confident they are in their scheme, like that was why, like I look at it, I'm like,
41:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Anderson, I think has a chance to this is this is a high bar to set, but I think like with his new contract now has a chance to go into like this JJ watt phase of his career where if you remember JJ was just insane and I think he won three defensive player of the year awards in four years also I know he won three I'm not sure at the time for my think it was over four years.
42:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I just sort of see, I sort of see the same thing, you know, with, um, I sort of see the same thing coming with, with, with, with, well, and there's some where he's about to go into that sort of period of his career.
42:23
[SPEAKER_01]: It's already unbelievable.
42:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that defense too.
42:26
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it set up a little bit more like the seahawks where guys are going to play off each other now.
42:35
[SPEAKER_00]: It's wide nine, which is different.
42:41
[SPEAKER_00]: the general ethos of it, which is like, I don't care who gets the sack.
42:44
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not built around one past Russia, even though Will is so dominant, right, and he's so special.
42:51
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know.
42:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I have a hard time believing.
42:54
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not going to be him, but Daniel Hunter, obviously.
42:57
[SPEAKER_00]: can also come in there and win that one just by virtue of having like a 16 or 17 sack season and he's he's excellent as well and so I'm not not putting that outside the realm of possibility.
43:08
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we have
43:12
[SPEAKER_00]: We have the rookies now, okay, offensive rookie the year and defensive rookie the year, offensive rookie the year I think is tough in here's how I'll set the table I agree with that.
43:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because Mendoza and I know you're you're religious in pointing this out, but Mendoza might only play nine games.
43:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I know what you're going to say and you have your list and you say it every year
43:36
[SPEAKER_00]: But this is Tom Brady and Tom Brady said the reason I'm Tom Brady is because it drew blood soda and then you pay $20 million for Kirk Cousins.
43:44
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's a reason that you do that, right?
43:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
43:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe Bindosa doesn't start the season.
43:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he does.
43:50
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know the answer to that.
43:51
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think Bindosa's a lock.
43:55
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jeremiah love is in a platoon, which makes it hard.
43:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Cardinal tape is in an unproven with an unproven quarterback.
44:05
[SPEAKER_00]: bad team, tough division, and then, you know, you start looking at, okay, Jordan Tyson, same thing.
44:14
[SPEAKER_00]: we don't know much about the quarterback, um, there's other mouths to feed in that offense.
44:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Ty Simpson isn't gonna play, um, Spencer Fano and Vega are, you know, I would love to see an offensive line.
44:28
[SPEAKER_00]: I would too, and I can't paint for it for years, but then they just gave me the stupid protector of the year award, which ends up being, it's own ridiculous thing.
44:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Can you indeed again?
44:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Not so you're just going away and tougher than people think to pretend it's tough.
44:43
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a tough position to produce that as a rookie.
44:47
[SPEAKER_00]: So for me Albert, you're all the way down to like.
44:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, is it insane to say that like McCuy Lemon is my top choice for offensive rookie the year at this point?
44:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, and again, that's what I mean, I guess you could go back and look at what Devante Smith did as a rookie under Nick Seriani.
45:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was pretty productive, right?
45:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I don't, I don't mind that.
45:11
[SPEAKER_01]: I think McCuy Lemon seen that somebody who's pretty pro-ready, too, you know?
45:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
45:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I know where you're going with.
45:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess, I mean, you know,
45:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what other options I have.
45:23
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I mean, I'm going.
45:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess here's what I wish I would have said.
45:29
[SPEAKER_00]: But is Jeteria in price.
45:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
45:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
45:35
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think about that until last minute.
45:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
45:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
45:38
[SPEAKER_01]: That's who I'm going with.
45:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
45:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think good team.
45:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
45:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Run based offense.
45:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Black and a story up.
45:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Huh?
45:46
[SPEAKER_00]: Charbonate's banged up.
45:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Carbonate's coming off the ACL.
45:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And they have Brian Flurry coming from San Francisco to run the offense.
45:53
[SPEAKER_01]: That run game.
45:54
[SPEAKER_01]: What you can do from a passing game standpoint of the back.
45:57
[SPEAKER_01]: They were very creative in the way they used.
45:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey obviously.
46:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, like a lot of it is on opportunity and, you know, Jeremiah love who I think is going to be a really good pro, I think I think Arizona is going to be very intentional about saving tread on his tires and a year that's like sort of a rebuilding year and like you said, which James Connor and Tyler out here there, like I don't think they're going to go over the top and like just putting the weight of the world on Jeremiah love shoulders.
46:35
[SPEAKER_01]: So like I think price is like kind of walking into a situation where there's going to be a lot of opportunity.
46:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think an interesting dark horse here too might be dishonest dribbling with the kind of stuck at the top of the second round.
46:50
[SPEAKER_01]: just because the Niners have a need at the position.
46:52
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of good players around him, you know, so like that tells me, like things are going to, if you can get himself in a position to play as a rookie, and he's got where he's pre-pierced all with them there, who I think is going to have a nice year.
47:05
[SPEAKER_01]: George Kiddle, Christian McCaffrey, like you just look at the totality of it.
47:11
[SPEAKER_01]: there's a need again like I said like that he can fill.
47:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm struggling sort of an interesting dark horse went one pick after price but price to me is the one that I just think I just think like you know need matches up with run scheme matches up with
47:27
[SPEAKER_01]: all the things around him and, you know, kind of the ethos of the team is to run the ball.
47:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I really like the idea of price winning it and see how to.
47:38
[SPEAKER_00]: I, one of my bold predictions and I released 100 of them recently.
47:42
[SPEAKER_00]: You can read it at s i.com.
47:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that dribbling and the tight end from Jacksonville.
47:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Bow, oh God.
47:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Bow culture.
47:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
47:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
47:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry about that, either one of those, like my prediction there was that I don't think we're gonna be talking about them being bad picks midway through the season.
48:05
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm saying.
48:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that those were so coach-specific that I think that they have to have an immediate application when it comes to the offense and scribbling, I just wanna see the 49ers with like a bang and offense, but I agree with you.
48:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's either gonna come down to lemon
48:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's flip over to the defensive player defensive rookie the year this one I feel like could be a little bit easier to project I have someone who I believe to be a lock but I want to let you go first
48:40
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I'm gonna go kill downs.
48:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
48:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, this would be the first save.
48:47
[SPEAKER_01]: I just was looking it up.
48:49
[SPEAKER_01]: This would be the first safety to win this award since Mark Carrier with a Browns in 1990.
48:54
[SPEAKER_00]: That was my hesitancy.
48:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
48:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
48:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think he's like the most pro-ready safety in years.
49:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I look at a guy who came in and was a starter and one of the guys who was commanding traffic for Nick Sabin as a true freshman, I think that stuff translates.
49:12
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think like a guy who shows that he can translate it quickly from high school to college, generally can translate it quickly from college to the pros.
49:21
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, you have the IQ to do that.
49:23
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to make up to do that.
49:25
[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna be on national TV a lot.
49:29
[SPEAKER_01]: he don't even like he's going to be in our face a lot and I just look at like that plus you have Christian Parker coming in there and it's not a perfect comparison but Christian Parker was part of getting Cooper Degene in position to make a lot of place out of that nickel spot which I think like it's going to be part of what Caleb Downs does and they're going to move around and I just
49:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that there is a real home in the Vick Fangeo defense for these types of players and it can be different shapes and sizes.
50:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, Cooper Dijene was a college corner.
50:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's sort of playing that star position for Vick and Philly.
50:10
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we saw a Brandon Staley.
50:11
[SPEAKER_01]: What he was able to do with Darwin James and Los Angeles.
50:15
[SPEAKER_01]: What they did with Jalen Ramsey.
50:17
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, virtually in the same position with the Rams.
50:20
[SPEAKER_01]: so they've shown that they've been able to use different types of guys and I just think like Caleb Downs football IQ and his ability to make and I'm just telling you haven't watched every snappy play the last two years.
50:35
[SPEAKER_01]: His ability to affect games is so visible and it doesn't need to be an interception.
50:40
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're watching him, it's like holy crap.
50:42
[SPEAKER_01]: He's affecting everything.
50:44
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
50:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Like so, I just think he's one of these guys.
50:47
[SPEAKER_01]: It's that these be really special pro.
50:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you.
50:51
[SPEAKER_00]: My problem with that is that.
50:55
[SPEAKER_01]: even if down and I think you're going to go with David Bailey, but go ahead.
50:59
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to go with David Bailey.
51:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, all right.
51:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll keep going.
51:02
[SPEAKER_00]: Keep going.
51:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on a second.
51:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Did you think that I would be like obviously a jet is going to win the deepest of the year?
51:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I know, and I know, and I know, Saw Scarder did.
51:14
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
51:15
[SPEAKER_00]: I know Saw Scarder did.
51:16
[SPEAKER_00]: That's like a low hanging fruit on a banging.
51:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like,
51:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't know because I don't know if there is an obvious one, like, I mean, to me there is and so the the the the the reason that I say this right I think one of the best players of the last decade.
51:37
[SPEAKER_00]: was Harrison Smith in Minnesota, and if you talk about affecting games like you did with Caleb downs and not necessarily showing up in the stat sheet, he's a ridiculous stat.
51:49
[SPEAKER_00]: How many times was Harrison Smith a first team all pro in the NFL?
51:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Zero.
51:56
[SPEAKER_00]: One.
51:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
51:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but you should've been- It should've been- It's just as a guy who should have a Hall of Fame case and something like that's gonna wind up undermining him, right?
52:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I know, and it's dumb.
52:05
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's our inability to watch.
52:09
[SPEAKER_00]: I was actually just talking to some players about the same other day.
52:11
[SPEAKER_00]: It's our inability to understand how a great safety affects a game.
52:17
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, you put your finger on it, right?
52:19
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, he'll be able to sit in the box and he'll be able to fake like he's going one way to make the quarterback throw another way.
52:27
[SPEAKER_00]: and then someone else gets a pick, and nobody is going to say, what a great job by Caleb Downs.
52:32
[SPEAKER_00]: We're all going to say, oh my God, and you're so cool.
52:34
[SPEAKER_01]: It's covering a ton of ground.
52:36
[SPEAKER_01]: It's being able to like, it's being able to cover a ton of ground just in your mere presence, right?
52:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Look, it doesn't mean necessarily that you can get to this bottom of that spot.
52:45
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the guys who are really great at it.
52:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the idea of the athleticism to get to the places they need to get to on the field, but it's just that idea that you're smart and headdy and instinctive enough.
52:56
[SPEAKER_01]: to get to wherever you need to go and they're going to avoid that.
52:59
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're covering a bigger area,
53:02
[SPEAKER_01]: then it kind of makes it really hard on our offense.
53:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Ed Reed was probably the best ever with that.
53:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
53:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Ed Reed was like the amount of space he covered that you had to account for.
53:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think the right comp for downs might be Paul Amolo.
53:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think like that's sort of who he plays like.
53:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Typical high-up state guy just overridden the shit out of these people before.
53:25
[SPEAKER_00]: I might be wrong.
53:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
53:27
[UNKNOWN]: Anyway.
53:28
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm gonna do the same thing.
53:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm picking sunny styles and the reason why is because I think it will be easy for sunny styles to accumulate a Ridiculous amount of tackles this year.
53:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay, and and I think that that and I think he'll get like a picker to which will pad the pad the case form.
53:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think 140 tackles
53:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
53:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, because look at the commander's schedule, right?
53:52
[SPEAKER_00]: You open with the Eagles.
53:53
[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to run take one Barclay a hundred times.
53:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Dallas likes to run the ball.
53:57
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a Clayton Adams offense.
53:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Seattle, Indianapolis, and the Giants, and then San Francisco, and then the Eagles again.
54:05
[SPEAKER_00]: The first seven weeks of the season are going to be so loaded.
54:09
[SPEAKER_00]: with teams that want to run the ball 30 to 40 times a game that, you know, styles if he's not worn into the ground by that point is going to have a comfortable lead in tackles at that point.
54:19
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that he's athletic enough that again, he's going to get a picker to he might get a couple of sacks because Dan Quinn's good at moving those linebackers around and putting them in good spots.
54:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that styles will just kind of load up the stat sheet, which makes it easier.
54:38
[SPEAKER_00]: playing off ball on first and second day.
54:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think our real Reese is like, that's, he's just not gonna have the statistical production.
54:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll be my guess, like I think I think Bailey could wind up with like a dozen sacks.
54:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I just think he's like very natural past, rupture that translates, like that was the difference between him and Reese was he's like a much cleaner projection to the NFL, like you know what he's gonna be.
55:04
[SPEAKER_01]: The other guy that was sort of interesting along those lines for me was Ruben Bane.
55:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, you know, just think he's a dark horse for sure.
55:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think Roman Baines got a chance to and just that like, I just think he's a pain in the ass to deal with.
55:17
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I'm up on my one of my TVs right now.
55:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I have Steven A wearing a next championship hat as if, you know, he was, uh,
55:28
[SPEAKER_01]: He was on the team.
55:29
[SPEAKER_00]: I think one of the nice things about the upheaval of media that's taking place right now is that we're going to come to find that nobody gives a shit about what half of these people think.
55:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
55:38
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's something called, no, he's wearing the hat and behind him.
55:43
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a full screw.
55:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Like one of those full wall screens, you know, of everyone else in the next organization wearing the same hat.
55:50
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
55:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
55:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, God love it.
55:54
[SPEAKER_00]: This country is, uh, you know, nothing like the internet entertainment here.
56:00
[SPEAKER_01]: We have, like, we had dirt bikes on the, on the lawn in the White House last night.
56:04
[SPEAKER_01]: I think, or a couple nights ago, yeah.
56:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Special.
56:06
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was special.
56:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's close that with Coach of the Year.
56:12
[SPEAKER_00]: I, I flew myself too often.
56:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
56:17
[SPEAKER_00]: When we talked about it Albert, right?
56:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's an algorithm here.
56:23
[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty easy.
56:25
[SPEAKER_00]: Team, it doesn't make the playoffs.
56:27
[SPEAKER_00]: wins the playoffs.
56:30
[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny if you go to AI, which I don't trust for anything.
56:34
[SPEAKER_00]: They're saying Jets head coach Robert Sala has a great chance of winning.
56:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't think so.
56:42
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's Jesse Mitter.
56:45
[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
56:46
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's easy.
56:47
[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens didn't make the playoffs last year.
56:49
[SPEAKER_00]: This is still an excellent team.
56:51
[SPEAKER_00]: Minters going to weaponize that defense because the defense was such a liability.
56:55
[SPEAKER_00]: That defense is going to kick ass.
56:57
[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a top 10 defense under Minner and I just think if Baltimore makes the playoffs by virtue of that mentor wins coach of the year.
57:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so There's an easy one Daniel was an interesting one.
57:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that the easy one?
57:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, no, but I think that you're right.
57:17
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, because we talked about how high we are on the lions and look at how far down he is at plus 2000 He's interesting just because again, it can be a career achievement thing like because he hasn't gotten one.
57:29
[SPEAKER_00]: So there is maybe something else that's what
57:38
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to go with one that it's hard because like this one's this one's like I'm I'm looking at the different options here and
58:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I think right now I'm going to go a Shane Stikein.
58:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the cults have a chance to take advantage of the Jaguar's coming back to earth a little bit.
58:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
58:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I think if Daniel Jones plays well, Shane's going to get a lot of credit for it, which he should.
58:17
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they could win 11 or 12 games.
58:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're sort of due.
58:23
[SPEAKER_01]: They've had a lot of bad luck.
58:24
[SPEAKER_01]: They'll ask a couple of years that's taken them the wrong way.
58:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I think he's got a really good staff, you know, Jim Bob Cooter's obviously been there since the start, Lou and Arumos really good on the other side of the ball.
58:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I think the Colts have a chance to get in the playoffs.
58:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know my, you know why I have my eyes on though here a little bit is counting more.
58:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
58:46
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, because they won six games last year, I think they were really competitive right down to the end.
58:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he did a good job last year.
58:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I just like look at what's around Tyler Schuck.
58:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Now we'll see Chris O'Lave from a health standpoint, but O'Lave Tyson, you know, Delp, the rookie tight end they're bringing in.
59:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Camara and Etienne in the backfield.
59:06
[SPEAKER_01]: You get two first round picks at Tackle.
59:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I think they have a chance to be a kind of exciting team to watch if Tyler Chuck can play well and if Tyler Chuck plays well, again, this comes down to like, like, which coach is going to get credit for what?
59:22
[SPEAKER_01]: And I do think that
59:24
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a, there's a good chance that Maurice cried for.
59:28
[SPEAKER_01]: These you want to meet with John Harbaugh.
59:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what I said.
59:32
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is the, um, you know, I think that's the obvious one, um, but the process.
59:38
[SPEAKER_01]: It gets very easily when 9 or 10 games and that would be a five or six win improvement.
59:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and I don't know very easily as the answer there.
59:46
[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean like I mean have to make the playoffs to get in what you have to make the playoffs to win coach of the year right and people are gonna be like Well this giant's team is tougher, you know, you know, no, they would have to make the way it play offs it to make the playoffs after one nine or ten games They went to one nine or ten games is a five or six one improvement and a really tough schedule Really really tough schedule and if you look at the core Giants are just making me a little nervous like neighbors.
1:00:12
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know if he's gonna be back
1:00:13
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know camscadobos aren't you neighbors think of scary I mean there's a lot of things that if you really start digging into the trenches of it you're like, oh, I don't know if I like and this isn't hard boss fault it's just kind of what he what he inherited any took over, but
1:00:29
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no battling for credit here on the MMQV podcast.
1:00:33
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a 50-50 pie, Albert and I crushed it right down the middle as always, landing perfectly on time as producer Shelby would a test is probably our superhero skill set, just kidding.
1:00:45
[SPEAKER_00]: But thank you guys so much for being patient last week.
1:00:47
[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of you guys reached out, asking about why the pod didn't drop where was the pod?
1:00:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I can tell you now that it was
1:00:57
[SPEAKER_00]: like a targeted school bus version of like the puk and you know what your pants flew and we've survived so now we wait for Albert's World Cup journey and we'll be back on Thursday with some more NFL talk and good time.
1:01:31
[UNKNOWN]: You
