- 1:53Speaker 1: Is there anybody else joining you at the big table tonight?
- 1:57Speaker 4: There is. Take any guesses?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to go with my dear friend, James Melfi.
- 2:04Speaker 5: What's up, Ron?
- 2:06Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to tell you this much. Folks, I
- 2:08Speaker 1: don't know about you, but maybe the best legally speaking
- 2:13Speaker 1: TV segment that I've ever watched over these many years
- 2:18Speaker 1: just recently took place with Attorney Melfi on there, the
- 2:21Speaker 1: young viral Attorney Melfi who brought the donuts.
- 2:26Speaker 6: I did bring the donuts, and if you want to laugh,
- 2:32Speaker 6: I called my dad to see Because he was on
- 2:37Speaker 6: the news plenty of times. And he's like, hey, that's
- 2:40Speaker 6: not bad for your first time. I said, so what
- 2:43Speaker 6: you're telling me is you're qualifying it because it was.
- 2:45Speaker 5: The first time, right? So it's not bad. He's like, yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 5: you're right. And then I hung up on him.
- 2:50Speaker 6: But I don't know how David does that every Friday.
- 2:56Speaker 6: Because I slept with one eye open because I was
- 2:59Speaker 6: convinced that I was going to sleep through it.
- 3:02Speaker 5: I was convinced. I was convinced.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean? And I get it.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You're afraid to fall asleep because you'll sleep right through it.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But I don't know. Dave seems to go without sleep.
- 3:14Speaker 1: He's like Trump. He's one of these guys that doesn't
- 3:16Speaker 1: sleep a lot. I get that impression. Do you get
- 3:18Speaker 1: that impression?
- 3:19Speaker 6: I get that impression, and that's a pretty common thing
- 3:22Speaker 6: in our place anymore.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I did a trial with Dave. He literally... We'll be
- 3:26Speaker 4: texting ideas to, like, Frank and I at, like, 1
- 3:29Speaker 4: in the morning. So, no, this man does not sleep.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 3:32Speaker 1: So there you have it. But, you know, tell your
- 3:35Speaker 1: father that I thought you did a really fine job,
- 3:37Speaker 1: all right? Just pass that along to him.
- 3:39Speaker 5: I think I can do that, Ron.
- 3:41Speaker 1: You know, because your father and I are the same age.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Can you imagine that?
- 3:50Speaker 5: He's going to be the big 7-0. No, he's not.
- 3:53Speaker 1: No, he's not. No, he's going to be 69 next year.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure of that.
- 4:00Speaker 5: You sure?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Who knows your dad better?
- 4:04Speaker 3: Ron.
- 4:05Speaker 5: My dad's in better shape than I am right now.
- 4:07Speaker 5: I'll give him that.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You should check with your father. You text your father.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I believe he's going to turn 69, not 70. He'll
- 4:14Speaker 1: probably text me in a few. I'm going to go
- 4:16Speaker 1: out on a limb for that because I believe that
- 4:21Speaker 1: him and I might be born the same year. We
- 4:24Speaker 1: shall see. You get to the bottom of it, Melfi.
- 4:27Speaker 1: We want answers.
- 4:28Speaker 5: It's 69. I already got the text.
- 4:31Speaker 1: See, there you go. There you go. I knew him
- 4:35Speaker 1: and I were born in the same year, and time
- 4:38Speaker 1: is moving fast for both of us, but you did
- 4:41Speaker 1: a fine job on there. You really did a good job.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Your dad was a master at it, though, so listen
- 4:45Speaker 1: to his advice. Take his advice. He always handled himself
- 4:49Speaker 1: well and came across well. You're blessed with good genes,
- 4:53Speaker 1: my son, good genes.
- 4:55Speaker 5: He did okay, and I appreciate it.
- 4:57Speaker 6: Yeah, the first thing I walked in, Steve goes, I
- 5:00Speaker 6: remember reading your dad in front of your house, in
- 5:03Speaker 6: front of a tree.
- 5:03Speaker 5: And you were there. And I'm like, I don't remember that,
- 5:06Speaker 5: but that was a long time ago. He just sent
- 5:08Speaker 5: me a text. It wasn't very nice. I won't read it.
- 5:10Speaker 5: I won't divulge that.
- 5:12Speaker 1: All right. Well, no, those are the ones we want
- 5:16Speaker 1: to divulge.
- 5:18Speaker 4: There was a choice word used in there to describe
- 5:21Speaker 4: Attorney Melfi.
- 5:23Speaker 5: That's all right. Who broads the shoulders that bears the cross, right?
- 5:28Speaker 1: What do you mean a choice word to describe Attorney Melfi?
- 5:32Speaker 5: A donkey.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Who would say such a thing? Who would say such
- 5:36Speaker 1: a thing?
- 5:37Speaker 5: He called me a donkey.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Or maybe me. All right, so here we go. With
- 5:45Speaker 1: our attorneys tonight, welcome to The Legal Show, and you're
- 5:48Speaker 1: on the air. Hello there.
- 5:50Speaker 7: Hello?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Yes, do you have a legal question?
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yes, I do, and I was surprised I get to
- 5:54Speaker 3: be first. Thank you.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Mine is about an estate problem that my brother passed
- 6:03Speaker 3: away two years ago, and I'm an executor, and we've
- 6:09Speaker 3: dissolved all the other assets except the house. And my
- 6:13Speaker 3: problem is the next-door neighbor has interfered with all the
- 6:18Speaker 3: sales of the realtor showing the house by videotaping anybody
- 6:23Speaker 3: that they're showing it. She videotapes the people, their children,
- 6:27Speaker 3: their license plates, and their vehicles. And she does it, like,
- 6:31Speaker 3: from the street, or she has her car parked along
- 6:34Speaker 3: the side of the house, and she'll do it from
- 6:38Speaker 3: the car. And this intimidates people. Anybody possible buying it?
- 6:43Speaker 3: This is our second realtor, and the only thing that
- 6:46Speaker 3: has happened so far is a trespassing where she was arrested.
- 6:52Speaker 3: We had it sold on April 2nd, and the buyer
- 6:57Speaker 3: sent out a surveyor for the bank, and she argued
- 7:01Speaker 3: with them, and she called the police, and they arrested
- 7:04Speaker 3: her because on other times of being called out there,
- 7:08Speaker 3: the police said not to... be on the property.
- 7:11Speaker 6: Caller, did you call in about a month or two
- 7:14Speaker 6: ago about this?
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yes, I did, but it was at the end of
- 7:17Speaker 3: the show, but the problem's still ongoing.
- 7:20Speaker 6: Okay.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I'm so sorry.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Did you make another police report?
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yes, there is another police report on the day that
- 7:31Speaker 3: she called that, and we've gone to where they extend it,
- 7:38Speaker 3: and it hasn't... She got a lawyer now, and so
- 7:42Speaker 3: they asked for extensions. I've gone to court three times
- 7:46Speaker 3: in Camel Court, and so far the judge has just
- 7:51Speaker 3: postponed it, or what do you call it?
- 7:53Speaker 5: Reset it. There's a pretrial.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Now, on September 4th, there is supposed to be a trial,
- 8:03Speaker 3: and also she's on probation for doing this to the
- 8:07Speaker 3: other neighbor on the other side of her home. And
- 8:10Speaker 3: she was arrested for that, and she's been on probation
- 8:16Speaker 3: for that. But they don't seem to do anything except probation.
- 8:20Speaker 6: She probably has a bond. Yeah, it's a misdemeanor, and
- 8:24Speaker 6: she probably has a bond. But I will tell you this,
- 8:27Speaker 6: you have to keep on showing up to court.
- 8:30Speaker 4: A lot of people just stop showing up because a
- 8:32Speaker 4: court process takes a really long time sometimes, and it's frustrating,
- 8:36Speaker 4: and it gets reset multiple, multiple times, and people just
- 8:39Speaker 4: get irritated and want to be done with it. But
- 8:41Speaker 4: if you want something to be done, Attorney Melfi's right.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Show up, keep showing up, keep fighting the good fight.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Okay, now I had my real leader show up a
- 8:49Speaker 3: couple times for this, and all they did was give
- 8:52Speaker 3: it another date, another time.
- 8:55Speaker 5: You know, the realtor, they had.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Feedback on what people had said when they, why they
- 9:00Speaker 3: didn't want to purchase this house.
- 9:03Speaker 5: It's like our house is blackballed.
- 9:06Speaker 3: You know, that they know about her causing trouble on
- 9:10Speaker 3: the other side because that neighbor has the same troubles.
- 9:16Speaker 3: They can't rent either. They can't sell.
- 9:19Speaker 1: This is a tough position to be in. I mean,
- 9:20Speaker 1: when you've got basically somebody that's got to be a real..
- 9:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Donkey.
- 9:27Speaker 8: Yes.
- 9:28Speaker 5: You have to keep showing up to court and let
- 9:30Speaker 5: the process play out.
- 9:33Speaker 3: But what can you do about a harassing person about that?
- 9:36Speaker 5: Did you ever file a civil protection order?
- 9:41Speaker 3: I went down to see the prosecutor on Tuesday, and
- 9:44Speaker 3: she mentioned doing that, but she had nobody in mind.
- 9:49Speaker 3: At one point she did kill all the grass and
- 9:53Speaker 3: shrubs on the side by her house and saying it
- 9:57Speaker 3: was her property. And then I paid... to have a surveyor.
- 10:01Speaker 3: It took me two surveyors. The first one she argued
- 10:03Speaker 3: with and he ended up hanging up on me and
- 10:05Speaker 3: wouldn't do it. Then I had another person that surveyed
- 10:08Speaker 3: it and she definitely was on our property and she
- 10:11Speaker 3: put up this snow fence and stuff and no trespassing,
- 10:15Speaker 3: but it was on my brother's property.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Where do you get the protection?
- 10:20Speaker 5: Is it the clerk of courts you get the forms?
- 10:24Speaker 4: Because it's not DV. Yeah, you don't have DV. So
- 10:27Speaker 4: in order to have a civil protection order for DV,
- 10:30Speaker 4: you have to be in fear of imminent bodily harm.
- 10:33Speaker 4: I would say this is more..
- 10:34Speaker 5: It's civil, but there's stalking.
- 10:37Speaker 4: It's technically not stalking either. I would argue that it's
- 10:41Speaker 4: more of a nuisance, more than stalking.
- 10:43Speaker 5: It's harassment, but you could get a protective order, I believe.
- 10:47Speaker 5: There is a civil. Do you live in Mahoning or
- 10:49Speaker 5: Trumbull County?
- 10:51Speaker 3: I'm in Trumbull County, but this house is Mahoning County.
- 10:56Speaker 4: It's a separate process. So if it's DV, you go
- 10:58Speaker 4: down in the basement. If it's civil, I believe it's
- 11:01Speaker 4: the second floor.
- 11:01Speaker 5: I think it's in the clerk's office.
- 11:03Speaker 4: The second floor clerk's office, yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 6: I would call the Mahoning County clerk of courts. Yep.
- 11:09Speaker 6: And say, hey, I want to fill out the forms
- 11:13Speaker 6: for a protective order. It's not a domestic wherein the
- 11:17Speaker 6: courthouse has the forms. And you can go down and
- 11:20Speaker 6: fill them out yourself.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Okay. Now, is there a cost so I know that,
- 11:25Speaker 3: I don't know, they don't take checks?
- 11:27Speaker 4: No, there's no cost associated with that, ma'am. Just make
- 11:31Speaker 4: sure that you list every incident in your petition.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Okay.
- 11:35Speaker 4: She will be serving.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Well, I have all these police records and stuff.
- 11:37Speaker 5: I'll take all these police times. Bring the police reports.
- 11:41Speaker 6: You write a detailed narrative, and they'll set it for,
- 11:44Speaker 6: and you can check ex parte and then full hearing.
- 11:48Speaker 5: So an ex parte hearing means?
- 11:49Speaker 4: A one-party hearing.
- 11:51Speaker 5: A one-party hearing, exactly.
- 11:52Speaker 6: And you'll go in front of a magistrate and tell
- 11:55Speaker 6: them about the circumstances and what's going on, and they
- 11:59Speaker 6: could either grant it or deny it or set it
- 12:01Speaker 6: for a full hearing. But eventually there will be a
- 12:03Speaker 6: full hearing.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Okay, full hearing.
- 12:06Speaker 5: So that's what I would do tomorrow. Well, I have to.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Have my realtor bring the– I know they don't like
- 12:13Speaker 3: to show up for court because they don't want to
- 12:15Speaker 3: waste their time, but they do have feedback from when
- 12:19Speaker 3: they showed the house.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Not for the ex parte order, but you can always
- 12:22Speaker 4: subpoena them for the final. So they'll set a final
- 12:25Speaker 4: hearing within 10 days usually so the other party has
- 12:27Speaker 4: a right to be heard. For the civil, not for DV,
- 12:31Speaker 4: for the civil. Now, what am I asking for?
- 12:34Speaker 3: Am I asking for the civil protection or what's the DV?
- 12:38Speaker 5: Civil protection order, not domestic violence. Correct.
- 12:44Speaker 4: It's technically called a civil stalking order in Mahoning County.
- 12:47Speaker 4: So you're going to go to the second floor or
- 12:49Speaker 4: call the clerk, of course, ask for the paperwork for
- 12:51Speaker 4: a civil stalking order. They also, I believe, have it online.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Make sure you get the ex parte hearing. explain to
- 12:57Speaker 4: the judge exactly what's going on and why you feel
- 13:00Speaker 4: as though you need this order. Then a hearing will
- 13:03Speaker 4: be set for 10 days and she'll be served and
- 13:07Speaker 4: then she'll have the opportunity to be heard as well.
- 13:10Speaker 4: That's when you really bring in the evidence because that
- 13:12Speaker 4: is an evidentiary hearing where you present your evidence, you
- 13:15Speaker 4: present witnesses, if you have them you can subpoena them
- 13:18Speaker 4: and then the defendant will have the opportunity to do
- 13:21Speaker 4: so as well.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Now all this will take place in Mahoning County at
- 13:27Speaker 3: the big courthouse.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Big courthouse downtown. Yes, ma'am.
- 13:30Speaker 7: Yes, ma'am.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Okay. I wish you the best of luck.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Okay, well, thank you so much. I tried to scribble, though,
- 13:36Speaker 3: and write this down real quickly so I did the
- 13:38Speaker 3: right thing. I'll call the clerk of courts and see.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And it's called an exporte hearing.
- 13:46Speaker 5: Well, it's a.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Civil stalking protection order.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Sorry, go ahead. Yeah, not DV.
- 13:50Speaker 6: Make sure you tell them this is not a domestic
- 13:52Speaker 6: violence case. Civil stalking.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Protection order. Protection order. And the forms are either on,
- 13:58Speaker 4: I think, I believe they're online. You can actually fill
- 14:00Speaker 4: them out. But make sure you ask for an ex
- 14:02Speaker 4: parte hearing.
- 14:04Speaker 3: How do you spell ex parte? How do you spell that?
- 14:06Speaker 9: It's Latin.
- 14:07Speaker 4: E-X-P-A-R-T-E. It just means one party. Everything's Latin in the
- 14:14Speaker 4: legal world.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And would that be on the form that I fill out?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yes, ma'am.
- 14:19Speaker 4: There will be a little checkbox. I wish you the
- 14:21Speaker 4: best of luck. And if you need to call us,
- 14:23Speaker 4: you can ask for me, and I can re-over the
- 14:25Speaker 4: process with you, okay?
- 14:25Speaker 3: All right.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 14:27Speaker 3: And what's the phone number there that I can ask
- 14:29Speaker 3: for you again?
- 14:31Speaker 5: I'm not sure, ma'am.
- 14:32Speaker 4: I'm so sorry.
- 14:33Speaker 1: All right. Thanks. You're on air. Hello. Hi.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:40Speaker 9: I have a quick one-second criminal question.
- 14:44Speaker 8: Yes.
- 14:44Speaker 1: You sound like a criminal to me.
- 14:48Speaker 9: Yeah, I get that a lot. So one of them
- 14:51Speaker 9: would be, when is a good time not to waive
- 14:54Speaker 9: your rights? Because you go to court the next morning.
- 14:57Speaker 9: I'm not in that situation, but if I ever am, because,
- 15:00Speaker 9: you know, I'm older and can't defend myself and a
- 15:02Speaker 9: Second Amendment person, and I don't want to be in
- 15:04Speaker 9: trouble because I did something I shouldn't have done, you know? Sorry,
- 15:09Speaker 9: what's your question?
- 15:11Speaker 4: Waive your rights? What do you mean by that, sir?
- 15:13Speaker 5: I have no idea what you just said.
- 15:14Speaker 9: Because you get an option to waive your rights to
- 15:16Speaker 9: a speedy trial and a criminal trial, right? That's the
- 15:19Speaker 9: first thing they ask you if you want to waive
- 15:21Speaker 9: your rights.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Waive your right to a speedy trial. So everybody has
- 15:25Speaker 4: a right to have a trial quickly.
- 15:27Speaker 6: Meaning the state has to bring you to trial within
- 15:29Speaker 6: a certain amount of time depending on the.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Severity of the charge.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Correct. But if there's discovery or things that are outstanding,
- 15:37Speaker 4: a lot of people waive that right so that way
- 15:41Speaker 4: they can fully... do the investigation from start to finish,
- 15:44Speaker 4: and that gives their attorney the opportunity to review everything
- 15:47Speaker 4: and prepare for trial. Some cases, it is beneficial to
- 15:50Speaker 4: waive your right. In other cases, if you're trying to
- 15:52Speaker 4: get something done quickly or you need something done for
- 15:54Speaker 4: your job, it's not beneficial. So it really just depends
- 15:57Speaker 4: on the case.
- 15:59Speaker 9: Okay, I was just curious. The other one real quick,
- 16:02Speaker 9: and again, it doesn't really pertain to me, but we
- 16:04Speaker 9: all go to lunch with friends sometimes. So say I
- 16:06Speaker 9: have two or three drinks, I'm on my way home,
- 16:09Speaker 9: I get stopped. Should I take the breathalyzer or should
- 16:12Speaker 9: I just... Because I'm going to fail at three drinks.
- 16:15Speaker 9: You know, we all are. So should I do that
- 16:18Speaker 9: or should I just let them prove it?
- 16:23Speaker 5: All right.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Did you say drinks or drinks? Because I'm pretty sure
- 16:27Speaker 4: I heard three drinks.
- 16:28Speaker 5: Let me ask you, caller, are you going to pass
- 16:30Speaker 5: it now?
- 16:32Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, no, I'm good. I'm at work right now.
- 16:34Speaker 9: I don't even really drink, like, a couple times a year.
- 16:37Speaker 5: You guys are hard on me.
- 16:39Speaker 9: And I didn't do anything. I had a couple quick questions.
- 16:41Speaker 9: I'm not a criminal, but I'm not drunk.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Here's my advice on this.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I mean, you do sound like a criminal drunk to me, caller.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying from my head.
- 16:50Speaker 6: Here's my advice to you is, Like David always says,
- 16:54Speaker 6: if you ever get pulled over, you've had a few drinks,
- 16:57Speaker 6: you be very polite. You comply with the officer if
- 17:03Speaker 6: he says, sir, get out of the car. However, you
- 17:06Speaker 6: do not need to admit to drinking. You can refuse
- 17:08Speaker 6: the roadside field sobriety test.
- 17:10Speaker 5: And guess what?
- 17:12Speaker 6: There's about 100% chance you'll get arrested anyway if you
- 17:15Speaker 6: perform them, if you don't. And don't take the breathalyzer.
- 17:19Speaker 4: But also maybe not have three drinks on your lunch break.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Isn't that an automatic suspension, though, if you don't take
- 17:24Speaker 1: the breathalyzer?
- 17:26Speaker 6: It's an automatic one-year suspension, but that's an administrative license suspension.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Correct.
- 17:31Speaker 6: Once you get a lawyer, there are procedures in place
- 17:34Speaker 6: that that one-year suspension can be stayed and you can
- 17:38Speaker 6: get privileges within two weeks.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Like driving privileges to and from work, to the grocery store,
- 17:45Speaker 4: things like that.
- 17:47Speaker 9: Okay, well, I'm sorry not to commit any crimes or
- 17:50Speaker 9: get drunk, but I was just curious because I hear
- 17:53Speaker 9: people asking those questions, and I wasn't going to know.
- 17:55Speaker 9: That's all.
- 17:56Speaker 8: Right.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It sounds to me like you're really asking from a
- 17:59Speaker 1: personal level. Do you frequently have heavy drinking at lunchtime?
- 18:02Speaker 5: Ron's asking for a friend.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Just for your friend, please tell him on his.
- 18:07Speaker 9: Lunch break, don't have a beer.
- 18:09Speaker 4: And then drive and return to work.
- 18:11Speaker 5: That's what I ask.
- 18:12Speaker 4: But tell your friend we said hi, okay?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 18:15Speaker 5: Maybe I want to hang out with this friend.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Not during lunch.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Maybe not during lunch.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Maybe you need to drive him.
- 18:20Speaker 1: That takes you back to your college, your Smelfie, and
- 18:23Speaker 1: I don't think you want to go through those again.
- 18:25Speaker 4: We both went to the same college. We really did
- 18:26Speaker 4: have a good time.
- 18:28Speaker 6: I'd cut my pinky off to do six months.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Would you really?
- 18:32Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 18:32Speaker 4: I'd probably cut off the tip.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You wouldn't mean to go back to it?
- 18:37Speaker 5: For six months?
- 18:38Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh. Miami is so fun, Ron. Me and Jimmy,
- 18:41Speaker 4: we should take Ron to Green Beer Day. We're going
- 18:44Speaker 4: to take you to Green Beer Day.
- 18:45Speaker 5: It's just going to happen. Ron, you ever start drinking
- 18:47Speaker 5: beers at 1 o'clock in the morning?
- 18:49Speaker 1: One o'clock in the morning.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Until one o'clock the next day.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Oh, come on.
- 18:57Speaker 1: No.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Listen here.
- 18:59Speaker 1: That's absolutely not. All right. You're on the air with
- 19:04Speaker 1: these troublemakers. Hello.
- 19:06Speaker 5: How can we help you?
- 19:07Speaker 8: Hello, troublemakers. I have a question on if your neighbor's
- 19:11Speaker 8: tree is hanging over on your property, can And I
- 19:15Speaker 8: know the gold standard would be to send a certified letter,
- 19:19Speaker 8: but in being cordial with the neighbor, if I haven't
- 19:22Speaker 8: in a text message to them all of my concerns,
- 19:26Speaker 8: does that suffice that if something would fall down and
- 19:29Speaker 8: damage something on my property, I could present that and
- 19:34Speaker 8: their insurance would cover it?
- 19:36Speaker 6: No.
- 19:37Speaker 4: It's not.
- 19:38Speaker 8: No.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Sufficient. I would say you could produce it as evidence,
- 19:42Speaker 4: but it's not like cold ironclad.
- 19:44Speaker 8: No.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Yeah, typically if a tree falls and the tree is
- 19:47Speaker 6: on your neighbor's property but falls on yours and damages you.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Your property, you are responsible. Your homeowners will pay. However,
- 19:56Speaker 5: unless the.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Homeowner has noticed by some arborist that this tree is
- 20:02Speaker 6: going to fall, then, you know.
- 20:05Speaker 8: Well, it's got some dead limbs from the storms, and
- 20:08Speaker 8: one of the dead limbs is hanging directly over where
- 20:11Speaker 8: we park our cars.
- 20:13Speaker 4: So what I do, because I'm a nice neighbor and
- 20:16Speaker 4: I live in the middle of the woods, if it
- 20:17Speaker 4: is a branch from my tree and it's on my
- 20:20Speaker 4: neighbor's property, obviously I walk my butt across the lot
- 20:23Speaker 4: and I go get those tree branches, but everybody's not
- 20:26Speaker 4: so nice. If it's a really big branch and you
- 20:30Speaker 4: can't carry it yourself, I mean, you can always be,
- 20:32Speaker 4: I mean, first start and ask.
- 20:34Speaker 6: You can't cut down your neighbor's tree.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Bad idea.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Well, you can't cut it, but if it's like, you know,
- 20:39Speaker 4: you can just say, hey, is there any way you
- 20:42Speaker 4: can remove this? I can't get into my driveway.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Okay.
- 20:46Speaker 8: But best thing would be to send a certified letter.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I just wanted to be more.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Send them a certified letter. And, Ron, you may or
- 20:54Speaker 6: may not know this. If you cut down somebody's tree wrongfully.
- 20:57Speaker 6: and say that tree was worth $ 5, 000, it's triple damages.
- 21:00Speaker 4: It's not a good time, so don't cut down their tree.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 21:04Speaker 4: But if it lands on your property, they should remove it,
- 21:07Speaker 4: but they probably won't. You are liable. I'm just a
- 21:09Speaker 4: nice neighbor.
- 21:11Speaker 10: All right.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 21:11Speaker 7: Okay.
- 21:12Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Good luck. Thank you. You know what I mean? And
- 21:16Speaker 1: never damage the family tree is what I say when
- 21:19Speaker 1: it comes to trees. When it comes to the family tree,
- 21:21Speaker 1: above all else, Tali, you should know how old your
- 21:24Speaker 1: father's turning on his birthday today. And not be close,
- 21:27Speaker 1: but be right on the money. Would you not agree, Tally?
- 21:30Speaker 4: I just think that's just very good for families.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I remember the caller from two months ago.
- 21:35Speaker 5: I just don't want to know my dad is old.
- 21:37Speaker 1: He's going to turn 70. I mean, he's not going
- 21:39Speaker 1: to turn 70. He's going to turn 69. Why are
- 21:42Speaker 1: you rushing him along?
- 21:43Speaker 5: I don't want to know.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Wouldn't it be hilarious, Ron, if Jimmy and his wife
- 21:47Speaker 4: would have thrown his father a 70th birthday party? And
- 21:51Speaker 4: he's like, I'm not even 70. That would have been
- 21:52Speaker 4: so funny. We should do that for Dave.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 21:56Speaker 10: Yes.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Throw him one of those. And did you and take
- 22:00Speaker 1: my advice. You want to. Yeah, throw it at, I
- 22:02Speaker 1: don't know if you've ever been to this place called Leo's.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I think she'd love going there, Jim.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I think she would love it, and I actually ate
- 22:09Speaker 6: Leo's last night.
- 22:10Speaker 5: It was wonderful.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. But, you know, I don't think she gets
- 22:13Speaker 1: there very often. She'd probably like you to take her
- 22:15Speaker 1: out once in a while to go to Leo's, right?
- 22:18Speaker 5: Yeah, she doesn't get out very often at all.
- 22:20Speaker 6: She's home rearing the children, and, yeah, when she gets out,
- 22:23Speaker 6: that's where she loves to go.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Right, right, right. All right. See, I'm almost like psychic here, Jimmy.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I know this kind of stuff, so you can't. Keep
- 22:31Speaker 1: it from me. You're on the air. Hello.
- 22:34Speaker 8: Hi.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Can you hear me?
- 22:36Speaker 8: Yes.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I got a copy.
- 22:37Speaker 4: How can we help you?
- 22:39Speaker 7: Okay. Well, we had an experience the other night. My
- 22:42Speaker 7: grandson's in from Georgia, and he wanted to treat me
- 22:46Speaker 7: to going to see the Pirates game. And he did
- 22:51Speaker 7: all the arranging of everything, and we got an Uber. Now,
- 22:55Speaker 7: I've never driven in an Uber before. And anyway, neither
- 22:58Speaker 7: has he. So long story short, we basically, and I
- 23:03Speaker 7: am not kidding here, took our life into our own hands.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Now hang on a second here. I've got to pause
- 23:10Speaker 1: for my headlines. I want you to hang on because
- 23:12Speaker 1: I want to hear this story, okay? Can you hang on?
- 23:15Speaker 1: I've got to get the headlines out of the way.
- 23:17Speaker 1: This should be interesting. She almost took her life in
- 23:20Speaker 1: her own hands. I can hardly wait. First the headlines,
- 23:22Speaker 1: then we're back with The Legal Show, courtesy of Beatrice Kopp.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Stay tuned. More to come in just a minute.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 23:39Speaker 1: All righty, we are back with our attorneys tonight. NewsRadio
- 23:42Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. This is The Legal Show brought to you
- 23:45Speaker 1: by Beatrice Kopp and Attorney James Melfi. And Tally joins us,
- 23:50Speaker 1: as always. And let's go back to this caller. So
- 23:54Speaker 1: you called an Uber, I think you said, right, ma'am?
- 23:57Speaker 8: Yes.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Okay, tell the story to our attorneys now.
- 24:00Speaker 7: Okay. First of all, it was supposed to come like
- 24:03Speaker 7: 20 after 4. The game was like 640. And, you know,
- 24:07Speaker 7: they kept on saying, you know, we'll be there. And
- 24:09Speaker 7: they changed the time like three times on us. They
- 24:12Speaker 7: got there about, she, the woman, got there about quarter
- 24:15Speaker 7: to 5. They give you, this is my first experience.
- 24:20Speaker 7: So my grandson gave her the code word. And anyway,
- 24:25Speaker 7: so we're on our way there. something has to be
- 24:28Speaker 7: done with the way they do these Ubers because she
- 24:34Speaker 7: was on her phone. She got three or four personal
- 24:36Speaker 7: calls while driving.
- 24:41Speaker 3: We got lost.
- 24:42Speaker 7: She didn't know where the stadium was. She went off
- 24:47Speaker 7: the road about three or four times, you know, when you,
- 24:51Speaker 7: that makes the noise when your car is going off,
- 24:54Speaker 7: you know, it makes those, the sound that happens three
- 24:58Speaker 7: or four times in a row. And she said it
- 25:00Speaker 7: was because the semis on the left of her were
- 25:02Speaker 7: too close. Um, I asked her in the car, you know,
- 25:06Speaker 7: how long she's been doing this, just making small talk.
- 25:08Speaker 7: And I thought she said two years, but my grandson said, no,
- 25:12Speaker 7: she said two weeks. Um, anyway, it was very scary. She,
- 25:18Speaker 7: we didn't know how to get there. We should have
- 25:21Speaker 7: researched ourselves. I'm, you know, like I said, first experience
- 25:24Speaker 7: lesson learned, but, um, She had to hurry up and
- 25:28Speaker 7: swerve into the other lane to get off the exit
- 25:31Speaker 7: on the left side. She almost hit a barrier. I mean,
- 25:36Speaker 7: like there was like a barrier where you make your
- 25:39Speaker 7: left turn and then you go right. She almost hit that.
- 25:42Speaker 7: My grandson and I was behind her on the driver's side.
- 25:47Speaker 7: My grandson was on the passenger side in the back seat,
- 25:50Speaker 7: and he could see more than I could see. She
- 25:52Speaker 7: needed a break. Service light was on.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Low gas.
- 25:57Speaker 7: She ran out. She was running along.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Ma'am, did you rate her on the Uber app? Did
- 26:02Speaker 4: you give her a one star?
- 26:05Speaker 7: Well, she was rated five stars, but then she'd only
- 26:07Speaker 7: been doing this. She said she did Uber Eats, and
- 26:09Speaker 7: now she's doing Uber Fares. Had never been to this
- 26:13Speaker 7: Pittsburgh Pirate Stadium. She took like probably 30 to 40 minutes.
- 26:20Speaker 11: Out of the way.
- 26:20Speaker 7: We had a backtrack. We got there a third inning.
- 26:23Speaker 7: I mean, it was very scary. She almost wrecked a
- 26:25Speaker 7: couple of times.
- 26:26Speaker 1: You know what Tali's asking you is rate her and
- 26:28Speaker 1: give her a bad review.
- 26:30Speaker 7: Yes, there's going to be more. There has to be
- 26:32Speaker 7: more protection because God forbid.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Well, notify Uber, right, Tali?
- 26:39Speaker 5: We did. We did.
- 26:41Speaker 7: My grandson got on there.
- 26:43Speaker 5: He called.
- 26:43Speaker 7: It's very, very hard to get through these people. He
- 26:46Speaker 7: started talking about the experience, and they basically shut him off.
- 26:50Speaker 7: They hung up on him.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Wow.
- 26:54Speaker 6: So I'm going to assume it is your last Uber ride.
- 26:59Speaker 6: I'm also going to tell you the law is in
- 27:05Speaker 6: favor of Uber and not the passenger. Correct. All Uber
- 27:10Speaker 6: drivers are independent contractors, so you can't get to Uber
- 27:15Speaker 6: if an Uber driver causes an accident. and saying that
- 27:18Speaker 6: they're working on behalf of the company. They're classified as
- 27:21Speaker 6: independent contractors. The other problem you have, and I run
- 27:25Speaker 6: into this frequently, is a lot of Uber drivers do
- 27:29Speaker 6: not have business coverage on their vehicle. So if you're using,
- 27:36Speaker 6: like typical Uber drivers, a personal vehicle to handle Uber rides,
- 27:40Speaker 6: there's a business exception to it. And if you're driving
- 27:42Speaker 6: for Uber, their insurance won't cover it. So what I'm
- 27:47Speaker 6: going to tell you is, and personally, I've been in
- 27:51Speaker 6: a lot of Ubers, and I get a little car
- 27:54Speaker 6: sick in the small cars.
- 27:56Speaker 5: I only get the premium.
- 27:58Speaker 4: What are they called?
- 27:59Speaker 6: I either do the XL or the black anymore. Because
- 28:03Speaker 6: those are better drivers, and they have insurance.
- 28:07Speaker 4: It'll stay on there. They're more expensive, but honestly, it's
- 28:10Speaker 4: worth it for your state of mind and your safety.
- 28:14Speaker 5: How did you get back? Just out of curiosity.
- 28:17Speaker 7: Well, another guy picked us up. He was wonderful. I mean,
- 28:21Speaker 7: he had the phone, you know, where you're looking at it.
- 28:25Speaker 7: He wasn't holding it in his hand. He was constantly
- 28:28Speaker 7: typing in things on the computer part of her dashboard.
- 28:31Speaker 7: I mean, he was wonderful. I mean, it was a
- 28:34Speaker 7: little scary because he went the back roads. He went
- 28:36Speaker 7: through the turnpike tolls. He was complaining because now he
- 28:40Speaker 7: has to pay tolls. I mean, it was a nightmare.
- 28:42Speaker 7: I'm just glad we were praising God left and right
- 28:44Speaker 7: that we got home, that we got there safely. I
- 28:48Speaker 7: am not exaggerating. Her car was dirty. I mean, that's
- 28:51Speaker 7: beside the point.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you something as you go on.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I do disagree with her on one thing. Usually when
- 28:57Speaker 1: you notify them of the car, they are done with
- 29:03Speaker 1: that person for driving with them. I mean, I've never
- 29:06Speaker 1: heard of an experience like this. I know people that
- 29:09Speaker 1: have done that, and they discontinue using that particular person.
- 29:14Speaker 5: And I have a serious question.
- 29:16Speaker 6: Are we sure David wasn't in a disguise and was
- 29:18Speaker 6: the first Uber driver to tell me the thing is beeping?
- 29:21Speaker 1: That was my thoughts. Okay, dear. Good luck to you.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I mean, she can just leave a bad review, right?
- 29:32Speaker 1: If you have a bad review, get your money back.
- 29:35Speaker 4: And do your research for the next one. Make sure
- 29:37Speaker 4: that you have a good driver, one that has insurance
- 29:39Speaker 4: and one that's rated and been doing it for a while.
- 29:41Speaker 6: That's why you have to pay the extra few bucks
- 29:44Speaker 6: and you get the..
- 29:45Speaker 4: XL.
- 29:46Speaker 5: The XL. Mm-hmm.
- 29:48Speaker 1: So keep it all in mind. That's what you got
- 29:50Speaker 1: to do. All right, so legal questions. Pick up the phone.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Give us a call. I had the same thought you did.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Was Dave Beatrice driving? Because it sounds like his car
- 29:59Speaker 1: was a mess, and he was going fast, and he
- 30:01Speaker 1: was on the phone, and he was running out of gas.
- 30:04Speaker 5: That sounds like gas, riding on the rumble strip.
- 30:07Speaker 6: He would be the worst Uber driver of all time.
- 30:10Speaker 4: I literally pull in to go into work, and I
- 30:12Speaker 4: see his car door wide open. It's beeping, and his
- 30:16Speaker 4: cell phone's in there. But David is not anywhere.
- 30:18Speaker 8: To be seen.
- 30:21Speaker 5: You missed it.
- 30:22Speaker 6: Frank, I was coming back with Frank from somewhere, and
- 30:25Speaker 6: we parked in David's spot, but we parked crooked.
- 30:28Speaker 5: And we pushed it up against the front door. I
- 30:31Speaker 5: thought David was going to have a meltdown.
- 30:32Speaker 4: I'm sure he was panicking.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Ron, what do you think about Frank parking in his spot?
- 30:37Speaker 1: Parking in Dave's spot?
- 30:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you something. I don't have a
- 30:41Speaker 1: problem with it because, you know, Frank, a.k.a. the young
- 30:44Speaker 1: Frank Sinatra, but in this case, I mean, Frank's on
- 30:49Speaker 1: a winning streak, and I think Frank should have a
- 30:51Speaker 1: premier parking spot because of how good he's doing.
- 30:53Speaker 6: I mean, that's like stealing somebody's lunch out of their hand.
- 30:56Speaker 6: The guy's been parking there for 20 years, and Frank
- 30:58Speaker 6: just says, I'm parking here now.
- 30:59Speaker 5: What are you going to do.
- 31:02Speaker 1: About it? Frank's a man. You know what I mean?
- 31:06Speaker 5: I wouldn't mess with him.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's how I view things. I mean, Frank
- 31:11Speaker 1: is a man. What can I say? I mean, that's
- 31:14Speaker 1: how I view things. I don't know what else to say.
- 31:16Speaker 5: I see it the same way you do.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I did tell Frank he was on my bad list, Ron.
- 31:21Speaker 4: He sent me to a client in federal prison, and
- 31:26Speaker 4: I was in a dress, and I didn't know you
- 31:27Speaker 4: couldn't wear dresses, and I almost had to..
- 31:29Speaker 5: You went to the private prison.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Well, I almost had to wear a pair of their pants.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Well, then I explained to you the CoreCivic, and..
- 31:35Speaker 4: I just wish somebody would have told me. So I
- 31:38Speaker 4: told Frank, I said, you've got to let me know
- 31:39Speaker 4: these things before I just show up.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Yeah. You could have asked me. I've never been to
- 31:46Speaker 1: the prison, but I would say, Tally, you're wearing a
- 31:49Speaker 1: dress pants, not a dress, to a prison. That kind
- 31:52Speaker 1: of goes without saying, doesn't it, Jim?
- 31:54Speaker 4: I was in court.
- 31:55Speaker 5: I'm not going to comment on this.
- 31:57Speaker 6: You know what?
- 31:58Speaker 5: I don't.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I mean, in all reality. Remember that first time you
- 32:04Speaker 1: went to the prison? That's back during your cross-dressing days, Melfi,
- 32:08Speaker 1: and you were wearing a dress.
- 32:09Speaker 4: You probably wore a.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Dress your first time, too. Or was that a Scottish kilt?
- 32:13Speaker 1: Was it St. Patrick's Day? Maybe it wasn't addressed.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Ron, you know I have a valet in my name.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. Okay. I was just checking on you, buddy.
- 32:23Speaker 1: That's all. I didn't know what that was all about.
- 32:27Speaker 1: All right. Lines open for our attorneys tonight. They're here

- 33:26Speaker 1: get you on the air pretty quick here, and I'll
- 33:28Speaker 1: get our attorneys to answer your question. Where else do
- 33:30Speaker 1: you get great service like that other than right here
- 33:33Speaker 1: at NewsRadio 570 WKBN? All right, so let's see what
- 33:37Speaker 1: awaits me here. You're on the air. Hello, do you
- 33:39Speaker 1: have a legal question?
- 33:41Speaker 11: Well, to defend Dave Beatrice driving the Uber, he has
- 33:46Speaker 11: many dinghies he's got to repair. So he needs the
- 33:50Speaker 11: extra money. but the woman, the woman that had the
- 33:54Speaker 11: bad Uber drive.
- 33:56Speaker 5: Yes.
- 33:56Speaker 11: I have a bad Uber driver in, I think it
- 33:59Speaker 11: was Texas one time. He let me sit in the
- 34:02Speaker 11: front seat. He was on his phone and I had
- 34:06Speaker 11: to warn him that the traffic was completely stopped in
- 34:10Speaker 11: front of me. So I think people should be aware of,
- 34:14Speaker 11: you know, what they're dealing with with these Uber drivers. And, uh,
- 34:19Speaker 11: Tell Dave, you know, show up for the show once
- 34:21Speaker 11: in a while.
- 34:24Speaker 6: It's the summer, and he's happy, and he's on his boat,
- 34:28Speaker 6: and the best part is he's.
- 34:30Speaker 5: Not calling us.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Yeah, so far, so good.
- 34:33Speaker 6: I will say I've had some great Uber experiences, maybe
- 34:36Speaker 6: like four or five months ago, ordering Uber, and I
- 34:39Speaker 6: didn't get a big one.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Ron, you ever see Cheech and Chong?
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yes. Oh, absolutely.
- 34:45Speaker 6: I get in the backseat of this thing. I'm right
- 34:49Speaker 6: in Cheech and Chong. I'm like, just give me the dinner, please.
- 34:54Speaker 1: That's all you ask, right? Please, please get me there.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Dave is a guy that is doing a million things
- 35:03Speaker 1: at once. I mean, that's what his problem is. Wait
- 35:07Speaker 1: a second. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Dave's got to learn
- 35:09Speaker 1: to focus when he's driving, and he doesn't do that.
- 35:13Speaker 1: And I would say that's probably his biggest problem to
- 35:17Speaker 1: a large extent. But, you know, people love when Dave
- 35:20Speaker 1: comes on. He just talks about the life of Dave,
- 35:22Speaker 1: if you will, and the stuff that he's going through.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It's all self-induced.
- 35:29Speaker 5: I don't agree.
- 35:30Speaker 4: I think some of it's just really bad freaking luck.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:32Speaker 5: You're telling me somebody has that bad of a luck
- 35:35Speaker 5: all the time?
- 35:35Speaker 4: Yes.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I've known him..
- 35:37Speaker 4: I think it's a good mix.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I've known him longer than you guys have probably been alive,
- 35:40Speaker 1: I hate to say. And this is his life. This
- 35:43Speaker 1: is absolutely how he has been the entire time I've
- 35:48Speaker 1: known him. This stuff has happened to him. And frankly,
- 35:52Speaker 1: he never started revealing it to the public until he
- 35:54Speaker 1: started talking about it on a program. And then people
- 35:58Speaker 1: started to become more and more fascinated with it. I'd
- 36:00Speaker 1: get all types of e-mails saying, about is Dave going
- 36:03Speaker 1: to be on and how people loved when Dave was
- 36:05Speaker 1: talking about the world of Dave.
- 36:08Speaker 4: His life is crazy.
- 36:09Speaker 1: And now he's embraced the video world of it with
- 36:13Speaker 1: his Facebook followers that are saying now Dave has taken
- 36:16Speaker 1: what he's done on the radio and he's taken it
- 36:17Speaker 1: to the video on Facebook. Is it TikTok? I thought
- 36:21Speaker 1: it was Facebook.
- 36:22Speaker 4: He does it all.
- 36:23Speaker 6: TikTok has perfect for his attention span, 15 seconds.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Right. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook. He's telling all of these stories online.
- 36:31Speaker 1: when he's in Chicago with the young Frank Sinatra, if
- 36:35Speaker 1: you will. I'm saying, you know, Frank Cassis, I meant
- 36:38Speaker 1: to say. And there are adventures that are there. I mean,
- 36:43Speaker 1: where else can you see a picture? Dave has sent
- 36:46Speaker 1: me a video of his car with a flat tire.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I mean, and he's trying to get to court. It's
- 36:51Speaker 1: really interesting. All right, back to it with our attorneys.
- 36:53Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Welcome.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Hello. Yes, sir.
- 36:56Speaker 9: How are you doing?
- 36:57Speaker 4: Good.
- 36:57Speaker 1: What's your question?
- 37:00Speaker 8: My question, or..
- 37:02Speaker 9: What I want to understand is the AI.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:07Speaker 9: How much are our citizens going to be paying for this?
- 37:12Speaker 1: How much is what?
- 37:14Speaker 10: How much are our.
- 37:15Speaker 9: Citizens going to be paying for this? You get to
- 37:19Speaker 9: build new communities and stuff.
- 37:22Speaker 5: The data centers?
- 37:24Speaker 1: That's not really a legal question, is it? We wouldn't
- 37:28Speaker 1: know the answer to that. We don't know. You're on
- 37:30Speaker 1: the air. Wait a second. You're on the air.
- 37:33Speaker 9: Hello.
- 37:34Speaker 5: Hello?
- 37:35Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:35Speaker 9: Oh, hi.
- 37:37Speaker 10: I didn't know it was my turn.
- 37:38Speaker 7: Okay.
- 37:40Speaker 10: I have a boundary issue with my neighbor.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:45Speaker 10: He said that the boundaries were a certain position, and
- 37:51Speaker 10: I was led to believe that when I purchased the land...
- 37:58Speaker 10: The real estate agent gave me the footage of my land.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Stand by for one minute. Right, just stand by. I've
- 38:04Speaker 1: got to do a one-minute break. I'll come right back
- 38:06Speaker 1: to you. Back with The Legal Show in 60 seconds.
- 38:15Speaker 1: All right, back to your question. You've got a property
- 38:17Speaker 1: line dispute, ma'am? Wait a second. Are you there? Where
- 38:25Speaker 1: did she go? Let me put her, let's see if
- 38:28Speaker 1: that was her.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Are you there?
- 38:31Speaker 9: I want to know one question.
- 38:33Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 38:35Speaker 9: You turn around there, you click me off.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Well, I'm not talking about AI, all right? I want
- 38:40Speaker 1: to find that other woman. All right, I'm going to
- 38:42Speaker 1: click you off again. You're on air.
- 38:44Speaker 5: Story of your life, Ron. I know.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I'm always ticking somebody off. But at least when my
- 38:50Speaker 1: father was alive, I knew what year he was turning 70.
- 38:52Speaker 5: I was saying finding the other woman. It's that story
- 38:54Speaker 5: of your life.
- 38:55Speaker 1: There you go. I'm always looking. All right. Are you there, caller?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Let me try one more time. I apologize. I think
- 39:03Speaker 1: I lost my connection. All right, well, you're going to
- 39:06Speaker 1: have to call me back, dear, because somehow I screwed
- 39:09Speaker 1: things up on your property line dispute. Call me back, 330-729-9977.
- 39:12Speaker 1: We'll get you through to us, and I'll try to
- 39:13Speaker 1: get you on as quickly as I can. 330-729-9977. We'll
- 39:14Speaker 1: get you through to us as these lines ring. Let
- 39:16Speaker 1: me see. You're on the air.
- 39:17Speaker 8: Yes.
- 39:17Speaker 1: All right. 77 will get you through to us as
- 39:23Speaker 1: these lines ring. Let me see. You're on the air. Yes.
- 39:27Speaker 1: All right. This guy in his AI question is going
- 39:32Speaker 1: to drive me right up the wall. What am I
- 39:34Speaker 1: supposed to do, Melfi? I'm right on the edge of
- 39:36Speaker 1: a nervous breakdown.
- 39:37Speaker 5: You can listen to my segment on AI, maybe like Monday.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Do what Dave does. Go for a cold plunge.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Oh, no, that's absolute insanity to do that kind of stuff.
- 39:47Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 39:48Speaker 5: It's it. He leaves all his curly hairs behind.
- 39:52Speaker 1: So Frank has taken over Dave's parking spot, and you
- 39:55Speaker 1: think Frank is in the wrong?
- 39:57Speaker 5: No, I love it. I encourage it because I love
- 40:00Speaker 5: the banter.
- 40:02Speaker 1: So does it say reserve parking for attorney David Beatrice?
- 40:05Speaker 5: Is it marked?
- 40:07Speaker 4: No, we just all kind of have spots that we use.
- 40:09Speaker 5: It's an understood rule.
- 40:11Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 5: But I love the conflict. I love the constant conflict
- 40:14Speaker 5: between Frank and David.
- 40:16Speaker 1: And the tension?
- 40:16Speaker 5: Because I get amusement from it.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it entertains the rest of the people in the office.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Right. So, I mean, are you working on the 2027
- 40:23Speaker 1: Beatrice calendar?
- 40:25Speaker 5: His swimsuit calendar?
- 40:27Speaker 8: Yes.
- 40:27Speaker 5: That's what I should do. I should do a swimsuit
- 40:30Speaker 5: calendar for him.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yeah, when he's up on the yacht, get some pictures
- 40:33Speaker 1: of him, yeah.
- 40:34Speaker 7: I could.
- 40:34Speaker 4: We can message Pam and see if she can..
- 40:37Speaker 1: Assist you think she would be in on the conspiracy
- 40:40Speaker 1: that we could do i mean would she go along
- 40:42Speaker 1: with it that's the question maybe perhaps for him we
- 40:46Speaker 1: just got to send somebody up undercover you know may
- 40:49Speaker 1: like when frank's on there or if he invites you
- 40:51Speaker 1: know invites you guys from time to time you're just
- 40:53Speaker 1: gonna have to go and take some secret pictures of
- 40:56Speaker 1: him i'm pretty good at that have you.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Been on the boat totally expected from me so i
- 41:00Speaker 4: can't not this year.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Isn't that interesting kind of the kind of uh He's
- 41:05Speaker 1: kind of distancing himself a little bit, huh? Knowing that
- 41:08Speaker 1: these pranks that you're pulling, he's not finding amusing, Melfi?
- 41:12Speaker 5: Like, because what am I going to do, sink his
- 41:14Speaker 5: boat wrong?
- 41:16Speaker 8: Well.
- 41:19Speaker 5: Like the Lusitania?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Hey, Jim, I think he's doing that pretty good on
- 41:22Speaker 1: his own based on what I heard.
- 41:23Speaker 5: A month ago. He doesn't need my help. He doesn't
- 41:25Speaker 5: need my help to do that. Hit an iceberg? I
- 41:28Speaker 5: don't know.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I don't know when he hit whatever he hit. And,
- 41:31Speaker 1: of course, it wasn't his fault. It was the navigational
- 41:33Speaker 1: system's fault.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Yeah, something else's fault.
- 41:35Speaker 6: I will say this. David can't operate anything. There's no
- 41:40Speaker 6: mechanical skills, but.
- 41:41Speaker 5: He knows his boat. He knows his boat, so I
- 41:43Speaker 5: will give him credit on that.
- 41:45Speaker 4: I'll hear him in his office just like, screaming and
- 41:47Speaker 4: cursing over something with email, and I just peek in,
- 41:50Speaker 4: do you need help sending that?
- 41:53Speaker 1: Well, sometimes it can be frustrating. Things never go as
- 41:56Speaker 1: you often plan them to go, right?
- 41:57Speaker 5: That is true. Yeah, boomers in technology, Ron.
- 42:01Speaker 4: He did teach me how to use TikTok, though. I
- 42:03Speaker 4: give him credit for that.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He's big on social media. And, I mean, you know,
- 42:09Speaker 1: people enjoy following the life of Attorney Beatrice, trust me,
- 42:12Speaker 1: and his trials and tribulations. I mean, whether it's the
- 42:16Speaker 1: flat tire, whether it's traveling with Frank to Chicago, whether
- 42:20Speaker 1: it's just Dave's day-to-day things that happen to him that
- 42:23Speaker 1: just don't happen to anybody else.
- 42:25Speaker 6: Which I told those guys, it's wild that you're flying
- 42:27Speaker 6: to Chicago. By the time you get to the airport,
- 42:30Speaker 6: go through security, get on the plane, deport.
- 42:32Speaker 1: You might as well drive.
- 42:33Speaker 5: Just drive. It's one road the entire way. It's 80.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Would you want to ride that far with Beatrice?
- 42:39Speaker 5: If I'm driving, I could do it.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Yeah, if you're driving, yeah.
- 42:42Speaker 5: A wise man once told me, always have your own wheels.
- 42:46Speaker 1: There you go. All right, guys, I'm out of time.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Thank you, attorneys. You have a wonderful rest of the
- 42:53Speaker 1: week and a terrific weekend. It's always a pleasure being
- 42:55Speaker 1: with you. Thank you.
- 42:56Speaker 5: See you around.
- 42:57Speaker 1: All right, so there you go. The Legal Show, courtesy of...
- 43:00Speaker 1: Beatrice Kopp on NewsRadio 570. We make way for the
- 43:04Speaker 1: news at 6 and then John Arnold to follow. I'm
- 43:07Speaker 1: going to be off on Friday and Monday and we'll
- 43:10Speaker 1: return on Tuesday, August 4th. I'm going to take a
- 43:13Speaker 1: couple days off Friday and Monday for a long weekend
- 43:18Speaker 1: on NewsRadio 570. But stay tuned. John Arnold's coming up
- 43:22Speaker 1: next with Money Talks right here. Ron Verp from the
- 43:25Speaker 1: Kingdom of Mahoning.
