- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody. Good morning.
- 0:30From the porch. Can you hear it?
- 0:32It is extremely early. It is pitch dark.
- 0:37Nobody's out of the coop at all, but guess who's awake?
- 0:40Oh my gosh, can you hear it in the background?
- 0:43This is like one of my favorite times of the year.
- 0:47All the trilling that's going on out there with all of the frogs
- 0:52and toads. If you listen closely, you can
- 0:55hear so many pieces going on, so many little different sounds
- 1:00happening out here. And it's the most thrilling time
- 1:04for me in the spring hearing this happen.
- 1:08One, because it represents something tremendous to me that
- 1:14every night it hadn't rained, it hadn't rained, it hadn't rained.
- 1:17We weren't having any of this. It was very quiet.
- 1:20They were all sitting and waiting for their grand
- 1:22appearance. And then it has been non-stop
- 1:26raining for since Friday and all of a sudden it kicked into gear
- 1:32and you can hear it. Why is this important?
- 1:35It's important one. Well, because it brings me joy
- 1:37and having think little things like this.
- 1:40You know, I'm always going to use this as an example because
- 1:42it brings joy when you can find these little things and you can
- 1:46hang on to them. And just coming out here and
- 1:49meditating in this and listening to the cacophony of sounds that
- 1:52are happening, it pulls you right into the moment and says,
- 1:56look at this. This is here to pay attention to
- 1:59and to be grateful for it. Now, secondary, what this does
- 2:03is reminds us that these little creatures have been waiting
- 2:07patiently without question, without worry.
- 2:12They have just been waiting patiently for their time and
- 2:16doing whatever they do while they have had like very little
- 2:19rain and it we were in a severe drought and it was just they
- 2:24were waiting and I was getting, I was getting worried about
- 2:28them. I was thinking to myself, what
- 2:30is going on? When is this going to kick in?
- 2:32Oh my gosh, I wonder if they're there.
- 2:34I wonder if they've died. I've wondered what happened.
- 2:37I, my brain goes off in different directions.
- 2:40Why? Because I'm human and, you know,
- 2:43I worry about my creatures around me that I love to
- 2:47cultivate and make sure they're all taken care of so they can go
- 2:51off and thrive. Well, I was getting concerned
- 2:54because of the, the, the problem with the rain.
- 2:56But guess what? Did I really need to worry about
- 2:59them? No, because listen, there's
- 3:03thousands of them out there. And it just it, I'm laughing.
- 3:08When I woke up this morning and opened the door to the bedroom
- 3:12very early like 4:30 AM and came out here, I was like, holy cow.
- 3:18The sounds are incredible. Like you could just hear it
- 3:22intensely open the door and just could not believe how many of
- 3:27them I could hear. And, and it's deafening.
- 3:30Like you can't hear anything but this.
- 3:33And it reminds you how small and insignificant we can be.
- 3:38And our worries can. Because no matter how much I
- 3:40worried, they were all set. They were ready to go.
- 3:43I didn't need to worry about a darn thing.
- 3:45All I needed to do was focus on me and being excited about when
- 3:50it would happen. But guess what?
- 3:51I forget and then I worry. And then I remember and then I
- 3:55forget and then I worry and the cycle continues, blah blah blah.
- 3:58So our job, our big job is to always remember we have options,
- 4:03we have choices and we can always do something to make it
- 4:07better. We can always give ourselves the
- 4:09opportunity to, to stop the worry, to change the outcome, to
- 4:14just say, hey, enough is enough. I'm not doing that to myself and
- 4:18shift out of it. But will we have to do it 100
- 4:21times? Sure, absolutely.
- 4:23I know I do. If you figured out a different
- 4:26way, please share because it's just a constant course
- 4:29correction when you're a human being.
- 4:31And what I love about these simple little things that I get
- 4:35all the time from being out here on this farm is they didn't
- 4:39worry. They just waited and they knew
- 4:41it was coming. They knew it would be here.
- 4:43They knew something would show up and voila, they were ready.
- 4:48And they give us this beautiful chorus of their sounds and their
- 4:54effort and their trilling that just makes us feel so full of
- 4:59awareness, like you can't ignore this sound when you walk
- 5:03outside. You're just like, wow.
- 5:06And even I'm talking as normal as I can.
- 5:09It does not interrupt it. They don't stop it, they're just
- 5:14on their mission, being themselves.
- 5:16And isn't that a good lesson to go into on this Monday morning
- 5:20for you to go out and just be yourself?
- 5:23No worries. Be in the moment.
- 5:25And remember, listen to that. It's all around us when you can
- 5:30stop and pause. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:34you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:36Bye.
