- 0:00Speaker 1: There was some juice from the weekend spreading rumors. We're
- 0:06Speaker 1: going to start with John Hayman writing about Pete Alonzo
- 0:10Speaker 1: divorcing the New York Mets in the off season. More
- 0:12Speaker 1: like the other way around the that's saying, nah, we're
- 0:15Speaker 1: good Pete. So the title of the article is maybe
- 0:18Speaker 1: Pete A. Lonzo had a point with the sharp dig
- 0:20Speaker 1: at David Stern's flipping formulas? Did you see this? So
- 0:27Speaker 1: Pete told Sterns when they were conversing at a Tampa
- 0:33Speaker 1: club meeting. Right, it was. It was Steve Cohen and
- 0:37Speaker 1: Stern's And this was before last year though, right, this
- 0:40Speaker 1: was the year before that, but this was kind of
- 0:42Speaker 1: leading up to that divorces. Yeah, he said, when my
- 0:47Speaker 1: career is being evaluated for the Hall of Fame years
- 0:49Speaker 1: from now, you'll still be fiddling with your flipping formulas.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Only he didn't say flipping. That's what John Hayman wrote,
- 0:58Speaker 1: word for word.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I love it. He's right, he looks really good.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Right, you're worried about a formula, and you're worried about this,
- 1:05Speaker 3: You're worried about that.
- 1:06Speaker 2: How's the formulas working out for him?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:08Speaker 1: You're also able to I mean, everybody uses for their
- 1:12Speaker 1: background data and proprietary this that to evaluate. That's all good,
- 1:17Speaker 1: but sometimes you got to just look on the field
- 1:19Speaker 1: and be like, yeah, that's working for us. This dude
- 1:23Speaker 1: likes this place, hits here, probably would take a little
- 1:25Speaker 1: lesson to stay here.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah, his friends love him, he's an icon, he's the
- 1:29Speaker 3: all time leader and home runs beloved.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So I'm saying, brings a little lightheartedness, brings something to
- 1:39Speaker 1: the table. Yeah, to situations. So I know he got
- 1:43Speaker 1: off to a slow start, but now he's started to
- 1:45Speaker 1: pick it up, and I'm not concerned. You know. Yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 1: first year you switch teams and try and do too
- 1:50Speaker 1: much whatever. But the OPS is already in the mid
- 1:52Speaker 1: sevens and I'm sure we'll be on its way to
- 1:54Speaker 1: the eight hundred plus. Yeah, first time switching teams, they
- 1:57Speaker 1: damn short for first.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Time switching teams. A little bit. I'll say this.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I had this conversation with Boba Shat in New York
- 2:04Speaker 3: this year, first time he's ever switched teams.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It's a lot.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It's a lot.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Not only do you is it because you're switching, and
- 2:12Speaker 3: especially it's even more when you get paid a lot
- 2:15Speaker 3: of money. Is a big free agent. Now, if you
- 2:17Speaker 3: get traded, it's it's still hits you because you're like, man,
- 2:20Speaker 3: that team didn't really want me, But at least the
- 2:22Speaker 3: team I went to does. When you're a free agent
- 2:24Speaker 3: and he signed a big contract, then you're even more
- 2:26Speaker 3: because you're saying, man, they really wanted me. I gotta
- 2:29Speaker 3: perform it. I got to outperform what I've done. It
- 2:30Speaker 3: usually takes guys a little bit a while first time.
- 2:34Speaker 1: For these guys it is. And hey, the guy who's
- 2:37Speaker 1: handling some first base lately, Mark Dantos is really starting
- 2:40Speaker 1: to heat up too.
- 2:42Speaker 2: But I mean he had a couple of good games.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yeah, a point stands not a scad. The point well
- 2:50Speaker 1: he just gave him. He won them a game or two,
- 2:51Speaker 1: but he want.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Them to get Friday night game. Yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah, no,
- 2:56Speaker 3: I he can't just be him.
- 2:58Speaker 1: No, it can't be him. And again, still they could
- 3:00Speaker 1: use Banto San Pete and they can figure it out.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It's just the construction that the team has been a mess.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And so that leads us to the next rumor. This
- 3:08Speaker 1: was from one of the Chicago radio stations. They were
- 3:11Speaker 1: saying that there were already conversations going down with the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Cubs and the Mets on trade talks. It's very early.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Apparently a few gms have spoken publicly saying that the
- 3:26Speaker 1: trade conversations have gone down way earlier this year. And
- 3:29Speaker 1: we saw Patrick Bailey just get moved. Mets aren't trading
- 3:31Speaker 1: Freddie pearl to this month, but could they trade him
- 3:34Speaker 1: in June if they're fifteen games under?
- 3:35Speaker 3: Absolutely think there'd be some other guys they'd want to
- 3:37Speaker 3: move first.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Louise Roberts.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Oh, wait, no, the crowds are too big and wait no,
- 3:44Speaker 3: they're never going to all that. Ye, so now he's hurt.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Wait no, what was it? He was so excited. I
- 3:52Speaker 3: actually made this joke with Mendy. He did think was
- 3:54Speaker 3: very funny.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Well, that's because it's not going well. But no, yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 1: they The rumor is, obviously the Cubs are going to
- 4:06Speaker 1: talk to any team that has a starter since they
- 4:08Speaker 1: lost a few and they're on freaking fire and every
- 4:11Speaker 1: other facet of what they're doing. So they're going to
- 4:13Speaker 1: ask the Mets about Freddy Clay. They're going to ask
- 4:15Speaker 1: the Marlins about Sandy if he's available.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Council knows him too. Council knows Freddy very well. Yes,
- 4:22Speaker 3: this has Milwaukee days. You look good in that cubby blue.
- 4:25Speaker 3: But I don't want to see.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It Freddy personally, I don't want to see it. Yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 1: but if Freddy doesn't agree to an extension with the Mets,
- 4:33Speaker 1: takes two to tango then, and the Mets are not
- 4:36Speaker 1: in a good spot. He's getting traded, so should Clay Holmes.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And both of them are pitching well and you can
- 4:42Speaker 1: get a lot for them. This is going to turn
- 4:44Speaker 1: into a different version of it. But remember the Mets
- 4:47Speaker 1: were supposed to be sick, and they had the super apparel,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and then they traded Verlander and Scherzer. This could be
- 4:52Speaker 1: that they could be as Ken calls it, the bell
- 4:55Speaker 1: of the ball. Those are two playoff starts.
- 4:58Speaker 2: What other options could they trade?
- 5:01Speaker 1: Most of the rest are are not tradable. I mean,
- 5:04Speaker 1: if you just go through the lineup.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Card Robert, by the way, they don't know when he's
- 5:12Speaker 3: coming back.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Who lindor Lindor he's got the bad calf issue. Apparently
- 5:18Speaker 1: Soto had the more minor one. I always say this
- 5:21Speaker 1: on our show. Some guys miss a lot of time.
- 5:24Speaker 1: The calf can get really tough.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Simon is not tradable. I guess, a guy, do you.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Really want to trade for a Mets bat?
- 5:35Speaker 3: But that's what I'm saying. I mean, how about bullpen guys.
- 5:37Speaker 3: I mean, Devin Williams isn't tradable right now? Ever's not
- 5:41Speaker 3: doing great.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and maybe one of those two catches fire and
- 5:44Speaker 1: then becomes.
- 5:44Speaker 3: But they didn't they sign multi ye deals both, I
- 5:47Speaker 3: think so, so they're not going anywhere.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Williams isn't getting traded. He's getting paid a lot of
- 5:50Speaker 1: money too. That's a tougher deal. No, the two prizes
- 5:54Speaker 1: could be Freddy p and Clay. And yes, some people
- 5:57Speaker 1: were trying to dispel this and be like this is
- 5:58Speaker 1: super early. People are just throwing it out there. There
- 6:01Speaker 1: might have been these conversations go down NonStop, right Teams
- 6:05Speaker 1: call like it could just be a call like, hey,
- 6:07Speaker 1: who could be available if you suck in June? And
- 6:09Speaker 1: then they're like Clay and Freddy, Oh what if they
- 6:12Speaker 1: were available? What are you thinking? You know, this is
- 6:15Speaker 1: how teams prepare for the trade deadline, so they don't
- 6:17Speaker 1: just show up and they're going, wait, which prospects.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Do we want?
- 6:21Speaker 1: But the fact that we're even talking about This is
- 6:23Speaker 1: kind of crazy, don't you think. Yeah, yeah, early trades
- 6:29Speaker 1: do happen. This is very early.
- 6:31Speaker 3: But I'm just I'm just trying to think how the
- 6:35Speaker 3: Mets can get back into this. I just don't know.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Because the Phillies are now playing better, so that really
- 6:41Speaker 3: puts a damn. I mean, the Cubs are going to
- 6:43Speaker 3: make the playoffs, Dodgers are going to make the playoffs,
- 6:46Speaker 3: and the Braves unless the disaster strikes, are going to
- 6:49Speaker 3: make that.
- 6:49Speaker 2: So there's three already.
- 6:51Speaker 1: So you have two from the Al East, you have
- 6:53Speaker 1: the Dodgers and probably the Padres from the NLS.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Five already, and all the teams is the control are
- 6:59Speaker 3: above five hundred.
- 7:00Speaker 1: All of those one of them probably will withstand the
- 7:03Speaker 1: summer and be good. And that's.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Times. Yeah, I don't know. I just don't know how
- 7:09Speaker 2: to do it.
- 7:10Speaker 1: The question I always have is do you see this
- 7:12Speaker 1: team making an insane run? Right like?
- 7:14Speaker 2: Not the way they're constructed right now?
- 7:16Speaker 1: I don't either. I don't see it.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Unless something really changes, unless Lindor comes back and is
- 7:22Speaker 3: on fire. Robert comes back, is on fire. That's what
- 7:25Speaker 3: we got, atleast Robert when he went, when he got hurt.
- 7:26Speaker 3: He wasn't doing very well either. He got off to
- 7:29Speaker 3: a great start and then.
- 7:29Speaker 1: He just went the deeper. You get into a season
- 7:32Speaker 1: like this, you have to start playing like ninety eight
- 7:34Speaker 1: win ball right on that pace during like this shorter timeframe,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and it gets really challenging. That's what happens here. So
- 7:41Speaker 1: is it impossible, No, with the amount of wildcards we
- 7:43Speaker 1: have these days, but it is not likely. So that's
- 7:45Speaker 1: why you know what we do. We cover the trade
- 7:49Speaker 1: deadline very well with all of our insiders. So stay
- 7:51Speaker 1: tuned on that front.

- 8:57Speaker 1: Hey, let's talk Padres or Friars, shall I say? Territory
- 9:01Speaker 1: host Mary Caswell joining us right now. Absolutely fantastic on
- 9:04Speaker 1: Friar Territory and catch one of the latest episodes that
- 9:07Speaker 1: I was listening to with Ty Frantz on there. Marty,
- 9:09Speaker 1: great to see you. How are you and how was
- 9:11Speaker 1: the weekend for the Padres.
- 9:14Speaker 6: The weekend was saved by Nick Costellano's thanks to his
- 9:19Speaker 6: two out, two strike game, tying to and Homer the
- 9:22Speaker 6: ninth inning, saving what would have been an absolute disastrous
- 9:26Speaker 6: weekend for the Padres. In which they only mustered what
- 9:28Speaker 6: fourteen total hits against the Saint Louis Cardinals, which is
- 9:32Speaker 6: like their worst they've ever had in a four game series.
- 9:35Speaker 6: So they got the win, which is the most important thing, man,
- 9:38Speaker 6: But the same questions still exist when it comes to
- 9:41Speaker 6: the Padres offense. It's just remarkable to me that here
- 9:44Speaker 6: on May eleventh, twenty eighth in team batting average at
- 9:47Speaker 6: two twenty three twenty seventh and o ps twentieth and
- 9:50Speaker 6: home runs and Fernando Tatist Junior. Excuse me if it
- 9:54Speaker 6: sounds like ground Groundhog's day is still looking for his
- 9:58Speaker 6: first home run. So they split with the Cardinals, which
- 10:01Speaker 6: is good news, but Manda, same questions still persist about
- 10:04Speaker 6: this Padres offense.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Marty, which set of eyes do I look into when
- 10:08Speaker 3: I'm talking to you? Did you wear that hat on
- 10:11Speaker 3: purpose to confuse me?
- 10:14Speaker 6: I know, I love this. It's a Monday, this is
- 10:16Speaker 6: my Monday hat. I'm having a terrible, really really bad
- 10:19Speaker 6: hair day today. So this is the Padres single, a
- 10:22Speaker 6: affiliate the Lake Elsinore Storm. We're just a couple of
- 10:25Speaker 6: weeks ago. I saw Lucas Gilito make his first rehab
- 10:27Speaker 6: start for the Padres. But you can look, you can look. Yeah,
- 10:30Speaker 6: right here there we go. I love this slogan. It's great,
- 10:32Speaker 6: isn't it.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it just confuses me. You know sometimes those Polish folks,
- 10:36Speaker 3: we get confused easy.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So I.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Work, how are the Padres doing this? I mean they're on,
- 10:43Speaker 3: They're right there with the Dodgers. I know their pitching
- 10:45Speaker 3: has been really good, but their hitting has been inconsistent.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I guess it would be a nice way to put it.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Tatis says, zero homers. You look at the lineup, Machado
- 10:55Speaker 3: wasn't off to a great start. So are they just
- 10:58Speaker 3: doing this literally with pitching and timely? I mean Nick
- 11:00Speaker 3: Costianos I was an epigaet bat yesterday.
- 11:03Speaker 6: It was an epic at bat. You know, that's a
- 11:05Speaker 6: great question. How are they doing it? I think Craig
- 11:07Speaker 6: Stammon is looking for those answers as well when we
- 11:09Speaker 6: ask him, you know, daily in postgame, like how are
- 11:12Speaker 6: you guys doing this? With the offense is bad? And
- 11:15Speaker 6: I know Tatis gets all the blame or all the
- 11:17Speaker 6: attention because he has zero home runs and one hundred
- 11:21Speaker 6: and forty plus at bats, But but Mana Machano is
- 11:24Speaker 6: off like the worst start of his of his career.
- 11:26Speaker 6: He's only back in what one ninety one right now.
- 11:29Speaker 6: He had been over twenty four, over twenty for his
- 11:31Speaker 6: last twenty four. They're not getting any production from the
- 11:35Speaker 6: big three that you're expecting to really carry this offense.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Tatis Jackson, Merril Manny Machado combined two twenty one average
- 11:41Speaker 6: with ten home runs. They're getting it from their bench
- 11:44Speaker 6: pieces like Nick Castianos in a new role with a
- 11:46Speaker 6: timely home run yesterday. Gavin Sheets has had some big moments,
- 11:49Speaker 6: Miguel Andrew Harr who's getting a lot more playing time,
- 11:52Speaker 6: Ty France who's taking over at first base. That's how
- 11:55Speaker 6: they're doing this, and they're getting it with their pitching.
- 11:57Speaker 6: They have us, you guys know, the best closer and
- 11:59Speaker 6: base on, Mason Miller. The challenge for the Padres has
- 12:03Speaker 6: been getting a lead to their bullpen. Jeremiah Estrada is back,
- 12:06Speaker 6: he sets up, you know, Jason Adam and Mason Miller.
- 12:09Speaker 6: So if you have a lead, you feel pretty good
- 12:12Speaker 6: with the Padres. They just haven't had that as of late.
- 12:14Speaker 6: But Scott and aj if you had told me before
- 12:18Speaker 6: the season that at this mark, the Padres wuld be
- 12:20Speaker 6: twenty four, sixteen, twenty four and sixteen tied to the
- 12:23Speaker 6: Dodgers in NL West. I think Padres fans would take it.
- 12:27Speaker 6: The concern has been the offense has been unconvincing because
- 12:31Speaker 6: you can't expect your bench to carry you throughout the
- 12:34Speaker 6: course of the season. They've had the second easiest strains
- 12:37Speaker 6: of schedule in baseball to this point. They'll have a
- 12:40Speaker 6: tough series with the Brewers coming up, then to Seattle,
- 12:42Speaker 6: then home versus the Dodgers for the first time, and
- 12:45Speaker 6: the Phillies. So they've got to figure it out offensively
- 12:49Speaker 6: because you can't expect your bench to be your biggest
- 12:52Speaker 6: strength moving forward.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Marty I tay what Craig sam is not doing. He's
- 12:56Speaker 3: not looking for a reason. He's just enjoying the ride it.
- 12:59Speaker 3: He's not looking. Do you ask him, how are you
- 13:02Speaker 3: doing this? He's like, I don't care. We're just winning
- 13:04Speaker 3: games and let's just say to it. So, yeah, baseball
- 13:07Speaker 3: people are weird, we're crazy, we're kind of superstitious a
- 13:09Speaker 3: little bit. To trust me. He's not looking for answers.
- 13:11Speaker 3: He's just like, we're just enjoying the ride.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Yeah, we're finding away his Exactly what he said yesterday
- 13:16Speaker 6: is we're finding a way to win these games. And
- 13:18Speaker 6: he says every single day we're gonna hit. You know,
- 13:20Speaker 6: these guys are too good not to hit, so we'll
- 13:23Speaker 6: see what happens. I will mention this is kind of
- 13:26Speaker 6: surprises me that as you're looking for production, you want Merriwell,
- 13:30Speaker 6: you want Manny, you want these guys to couldn't carry
- 13:32Speaker 6: the team. But a guy they've missed, which is surprising
- 13:34Speaker 6: is their catcher.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:36Speaker 6: Can I look the catching position?
- 13:37Speaker 3: Right?
- 13:37Speaker 6: Aj Luis Camposano was given his first real chance to
- 13:42Speaker 6: be an everyday guy or a platoon guy with Freddy
- 13:45Speaker 6: for Meen Craig Stamman, you know, had a lot of
- 13:47Speaker 6: faith in him and he was really productive. So a
- 13:49Speaker 6: bit of a hit when he has a he fractured
- 13:52Speaker 6: his toe last week. He's on the il. We know
- 13:55Speaker 6: that Jake Quinniworth is on the concussion list as well.
- 13:58Speaker 6: So the Padres have some pieces out there that maybe
- 14:01Speaker 6: will impact this lineup. But they're finding a way. There're
- 14:05Speaker 6: somehow they're finding a way because they are getting just
- 14:08Speaker 6: enough production from their bench guys and you're hoping that
- 14:11Speaker 6: one of these days their core will figure it out offensively.
- 14:16Speaker 1: To me, Marty, I think the identity of the Padres
- 14:19Speaker 1: has shifted. Last year, this team didn't have much pop,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and now we have a season where the bullpen looks
- 14:25Speaker 1: dynamite right and starting pitching wise, even at the back end,
- 14:29Speaker 1: Walker Bueller putting together and I starts. Randy Vasquez, what
- 14:31Speaker 1: he's done to transform his career has been cool. Giulido's
- 14:35Speaker 1: coming soon, Michael King's been great. So we're adding up
- 14:38Speaker 1: all of these names on the pitching side, and I'm like,
- 14:40Speaker 1: is this team just a pitching identity organization at the
- 14:45Speaker 1: current timeframe? Even though there are notable names in the
- 14:48Speaker 1: lineup card, it's not like it's just you know, the
- 14:50Speaker 1: first couple months of this season. And obviously Machada wasn't
- 14:53Speaker 1: like this last year. Tatisa wasn't like this last year,
- 14:56Speaker 1: so some of that will come along. But as we're
- 14:58Speaker 1: looking at some of the ranks, it's like they're towards
- 15:00Speaker 1: the bottom. So even if they get into a better place,
- 15:02Speaker 1: I still think this is like a pitching team, a
- 15:04Speaker 1: team that wins by pitching and maybe just enough timely hitting.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Like you're mentioning, it's Scott.
- 15:09Speaker 6: So much conversation leading up to this point was that
- 15:11Speaker 6: the Padres we need to go ahead and add an
- 15:12Speaker 6: arm right if they want to go ahead and be
- 15:14Speaker 6: deep playoff contenders. You can never have enough starting pitching,
- 15:17Speaker 6: especially when you know Nick Paveta's on the injured list.
- 15:19Speaker 6: No idea when he comes back, when or if he
- 15:21Speaker 6: comes back. Same for Joe Musgrove. Michael King has been
- 15:24Speaker 6: I mean he's he's his own harshest critic, but he
- 15:27Speaker 6: is showing that he can be an ace. Ranny Vasquez
- 15:30Speaker 6: better than anyone expected, except maybe his pitching coach, Rubin Diebla.
- 15:35Speaker 6: Walker Buehler yesterday probably had what Stanmon said was his
- 15:38Speaker 6: strongest outing of the season. Bueller only gave himself a
- 15:41Speaker 6: B plus set for him, he's mentally in the right place,
- 15:44Speaker 6: but he's got a lot more to go. Giolito I
- 15:47Speaker 6: think could join the Padres this weekend when they are
- 15:51Speaker 6: in Seattle. So yes, they they The pitching has been
- 15:55Speaker 6: a bigger strength. I still think that right now a
- 15:58Speaker 6: bigger point of concern is going to be offense. But
- 16:00Speaker 6: to your point on the identity, I think that the
- 16:03Speaker 6: Padre's rotation has big has been a more pleasant surprise
- 16:07Speaker 6: than anyone expected. We already know how good this bullpen is.
- 16:11Speaker 6: So they have that's actually a position of strength. Might
- 16:14Speaker 6: be their pitching. You can have enough starting pitching again.
- 16:18Speaker 6: We don't know what to expect from Lucas Giolito and
- 16:20Speaker 6: his velocity when he does rejoin. But to your point, Scott,
- 16:24Speaker 6: the pitching absolutely has been has been, has been their identity.
- 16:28Speaker 6: It's been their their biggest strength in my opinion.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Big dog, you know how it is. Man, We're always hungry,
- 16:35Speaker 4: and how do we get our food? We don't want
- 16:37Speaker 4: the stuff that makes our bellies hurt. We go to
- 16:39Speaker 4: Hello Fresh. We find out specifically what we love to eat,
- 16:43Speaker 4: and guess what, Kratzy, I know it helps you out
- 16:45Speaker 4: the house, old wife. He is happy and the kids
- 16:47Speaker 4: are extra happy.
- 16:49Speaker 5: I'm good at two things. Cooking is one of them,
- 16:52Speaker 5: but not trying to choose what we're gonna have. I've
- 16:55Speaker 5: gone fifteen meals so far and they haven't given me
- 16:58Speaker 5: one repeat meal. So many to choose from, and they
- 17:01Speaker 5: can make it easy for me.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think the best part of it is
- 17:04Speaker 4: is for me. I'm very particular. I'm trying new things
- 17:07Speaker 4: and I'm really really liking these things from HelloFresh. Go

- 17:33Speaker 2: Where's Joe Muskrove, He's like he has years? Where is he?
- 17:37Speaker 3: Do we have an up to date on Joe muskro
- 17:39Speaker 3: You don't even hear anything about him anymore?
- 17:41Speaker 6: Well, he's there, he's there. But I know when he
- 17:44Speaker 6: joined Darren and I on Friar Territory out in spring,
- 17:47Speaker 6: and this I think was before he threw a rehab
- 17:50Speaker 6: game against Green Bay and the green Bay GB Great
- 17:53Speaker 6: Britain ahead of the World Baseball Classic. That was the
- 17:57Speaker 6: Green Bay I'm sorry in football Mone for whatever reason,
- 17:59Speaker 6: but that's a last time that Joe Musgrove pitch. And
- 18:01Speaker 6: I think that he was so excited right his first
- 18:03Speaker 6: time in real in real game action, and then he
- 18:05Speaker 6: had the setback, so He is not throwing a baseball
- 18:08Speaker 6: right now. He's not really, He's around the team, he
- 18:11Speaker 6: travels with a team, he's rehabbing. But right now there
- 18:14Speaker 6: really there was no timeline on Joe, and I know
- 18:17Speaker 6: he's frustrated talking about it because he spoke about it
- 18:20Speaker 6: so much last season. Every week we say, hey, Joe,
- 18:23Speaker 6: do you know do you think that you can make
- 18:24Speaker 6: a playoff push? Can you join this team? Where are
- 18:26Speaker 6: you in your rehab? But right now, there is no
- 18:29Speaker 6: expectation for Joe Musgrove. There is no timeline for Joe Musgrove.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Stamon's been pretty optimistic that he will return to the
- 18:35Speaker 6: Padres at some point, but it would be shocking, I
- 18:38Speaker 6: think to me if the Padres saw him any time
- 18:41Speaker 6: before the All Star breaks. So right now, no timeline
- 18:44Speaker 6: with Musgrove and Paveda. I think if you're the Padres,
- 18:47Speaker 6: if you're the Padres fans, you have to look at
- 18:50Speaker 6: his potential return as an added bonus and added boost
- 18:54Speaker 6: to this rotation. But there's no guarantees as to what
- 18:57Speaker 6: Joe Musgrove can be when he does return to the Padres.
- 19:00Speaker 6: But he's around but not throwing.
- 19:03Speaker 1: That's wild, I mean, I just remember him being one
- 19:06Speaker 1: of the workhorses for whatever a few years and then, yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 1: doesn't pitch much.
- 19:11Speaker 2: So I mean, when was the last time he pitched?
- 19:14Speaker 6: March fourth?
- 19:16Speaker 3: No, no, no, like no, I mean in a real game,
- 19:19Speaker 3: not against the sucky Packers, like in a real.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I mean significant innings. It's been twenty four, twenty Yeah,
- 19:31Speaker 1: twenty four. He made nineteen starts. Yeah, right, he hasn't pitched.
- 19:34Speaker 1: He didn't last going almost two years. Yeah, he hasn't
- 19:37Speaker 1: made thirty starts since twenty twenty two.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean we're going on almost two years
- 19:40Speaker 2: since he's pitched at all.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a minute.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Wow. That sucks.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Getting into like the you know where mccullors didn't pitch
- 19:47Speaker 1: for years. It's kind of getting into that territory.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Darvish is done, right, Darvish officially done?
- 19:51Speaker 6: Do we know that that he hasn't officially anounced his retirement.
- 19:55Speaker 6: I actually saw him. He's on the restricted list, so
- 19:58Speaker 6: I saw him flee at Peco Park at the start
- 20:02Speaker 6: of this homestand so he's still around this team, but
- 20:04Speaker 6: he's not doing anything. And there's been a no announcement
- 20:07Speaker 6: for him on whether or not he plans to pitch again.
- 20:10Speaker 6: We know, I mean he's not back this season, and
- 20:12Speaker 6: who knows. If there's a lockout, maybe you take all
- 20:15Speaker 6: of next season out too. So we'll see his kid,
- 20:18Speaker 6: his oldest kid show Hey Darvish. What a great name
- 20:21Speaker 6: is that?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Show?
- 20:21Speaker 6: Hey Darvish is actually pitching for USD baseball team here
- 20:27Speaker 6: in San Diego, So we'll see. Maybe maybe he'll enjoy it,
- 20:29Speaker 6: you know, being a dad to his kids and watching
- 20:31Speaker 6: his son do his thing.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, he's made plenty of money. I hope his kid
- 20:34Speaker 1: makes it too. Show Hey Darbish, show, Hey Darvish to
- 20:37Speaker 1: show Hey Darbish starring in the bigs. That's a great name, Marty.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Awesome catching up with you as always, really appreciate it.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Love what you are doing on Friar Territory, listening all
- 20:46Speaker 1: the time. Thank you for joining us.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Good catching up.
- 20:49Speaker 6: You too, Scott. And by the way, I'll give you
- 20:50Speaker 6: a compliment right now. Mason Miller and I talk about
- 20:53Speaker 6: his appearances on fouls Territory all the time, and he
- 20:56Speaker 6: says that Scott Braun is the glue and we both
- 21:00Speaker 6: you have a wonderful voice. You've got a great voice
- 21:02Speaker 6: for radio and ah you've got a great voice too,
- 21:05Speaker 6: You're the best.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah. The difference is, Marty, I have a face for TV.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Scott has a face for radio. What about See how
- 21:11Speaker 2: it works. My hair is fabulous. I just never want
- 21:14Speaker 2: to com it.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I didn't say your hair is bad. Said at least
- 21:16Speaker 1: I got some hair.
- 21:17Speaker 2: That's why you don't wear a hat.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I don't have a face for TV or radio. It's
- 21:21Speaker 1: a face for you.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Have a voice for radio. Scott found your next.
- 21:24Speaker 6: Good voice, great voice for radio.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I appreciate that and I that would mean a lot,
- 21:30Speaker 1: so thank you Marty, and thank you to amazing. I'm
- 21:32Speaker 1: sure we'll get it back on in a few weeks.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Marty will catch you soon
- 21:35Speaker 6: Sounds good bye, guys,
