- 0:34Don Armstrong: I was panicking.
- 0:35Don Armstrong: I wrote it down.
- 0:36Don Armstrong: I was panicking.
- 0:37Don Armstrong: Anyway, so he's gonna review the outback, and we'd like to say howdy.

- 0:51Don Armstrong: You may not be glad that you joined us today.
- 0:53Don Armstrong: We've been having some sort of a couple of glitches.
- 0:57Don Armstrong: A row.
- 0:59Don Armstrong: I like that word.
- 1:00Don Armstrong: A row.
- 1:01Don Armstrong: A row.
- 1:01Don Armstrong: With apparently some sort of update that uh there's a gremlin.
- 1:06Don Armstrong: Uh some sort of update that uh Microsoft has done.
- 1:08Don Armstrong: It's not an AMC gremlin.
- 1:10Mike Marrs: Yeah, it's Google.
- 1:10Mike Marrs: Google Chrome, apparently.
- 1:13Don Armstrong: Well, aren't they all married?
- 1:14Don Armstrong: Aren't they all kind of one?
- 1:15Don Armstrong: Don't they go hand in hand?
- 1:17Don Armstrong: Uh yes, does it make any difference?
- 1:21Mike Marrs: Yes, it makes a big difference.
- 1:22Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 1:23Don Armstrong: What do you prefer?
- 1:25Mike Marrs: Oh, I prefer Google, but I don't necessarily use Google Chrome.
- 1:29Mike Marrs: I use Google.
- 1:31Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 1:33Mike Marrs: There's a slight difference in it.
- 1:34Mike Marrs: I don't really know what it is, but uh I don't like the Microsoft.
- 1:38Jeff Dziekan: I think the difference is one works, the other one doesn't.
- 1:41Jeff Dziekan: That would be the difference.
- 1:42Mike Marrs: Well, depends on what day it is.
- 1:44Jeff Dziekan: That's true.
- 1:44unknown: That's true.
- 1:45Mike Marrs: If it ends in Y, it could be either one.
- 1:47Mike Marrs: It could be that's it.
- 1:49Jeff Dziekan: And it's every other week, according to Dom.
- 1:51Don Armstrong: Yeah, Dom.
- 1:52Don Armstrong: Dom told us every other week.
- 1:53Don Armstrong: That that's a new one.
- 1:54Don Armstrong: That's a weird story.
- 1:55Don Armstrong: Yeah,$299 for a new car payment.
- 1:58Don Armstrong: But went down at the bottom and the printed, you can't even read with reading glasses.
- 2:02Don Armstrong: It's every other week.
- 2:05Don Armstrong: Every paycheck.
- 2:10Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, free beer yesterday.
- 2:12Mike Marrs: Or those used car lots where you go pay weekly every Friday afternoon.
- 2:17Don Armstrong: Or you get a lien on the car after you go to one of those uh short-term loan deals.
- 2:23Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 2:23Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 2:24Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 2:24Don Armstrong: That you're paying like 75% interest.
- 2:27Mike Marrs: Paycheck, yeah.
- 2:28Don Armstrong: Buy two beers, get the second one free.
- 2:31Don Armstrong: That's right.
- 2:32Jeff Dziekan: I fell for that once.
- 2:33Don Armstrong: Mr.
- 2:33Don Armstrong: Mars, uh, do we have Angel?
- 2:35Mike Marrs: No, ma'am.
- 2:39Jeff Dziekan: Right.
- 2:40Jeff Dziekan: Jeff, what you got?
- 2:42Jeff Dziekan: Well, there's something you mentioned.
- 2:45Jeff Dziekan: I'm sorry, earlier in the day, and I can't remember what it was.
- 2:47Jeff Dziekan: It was something.
- 2:48Jeff Dziekan: I didn't write it down, my fault.
- 2:50Jeff Dziekan: Uh huh.
- 2:51Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 2:52Don Armstrong: Space out on that one.
- 2:54Don Armstrong: You know what we could do here?
- 2:56Don Armstrong: I know that it will throw everybody off.
- 2:59Don Armstrong: Uh-oh.
- 3:00Don Armstrong: Mike, are you listening?
- 3:01Don Armstrong: Yes, sir.
- 3:02Don Armstrong: What we could do is we could do the recalls and we could do the sold car roundup.
- 3:11Don Armstrong: Or not.
- 3:13Jeff Dziekan: You want to do my motor minute?
- 3:15Jeff Dziekan: And he's not commenting.
- 3:16Jeff Dziekan: No, because he's focused on the room.
- 3:18Mike Marrs: No, I'm saying we could do either one, but I I'm also texting.
- 3:21Don Armstrong: You texting?
- 3:22Don Armstrong: And driving?
- 3:23Don Armstrong: Like a like a little 12-year-old girl.
- 3:28Jeff Dziekan: That drives me nuts.
- 3:30Jeff Dziekan: People.
- 3:31Jeff Dziekan: You're second or third in line at a traffic light.
- 3:34Jeff Dziekan: Oh, I have to go.
- 3:34Jeff Dziekan: And the light turns green, and you're waiting two minutes because the knucklehead that's in line first is on his phone or she's on her phone.
- 3:42Don Armstrong: You don't dare honk the horn.
- 3:44Don Armstrong: Oh, yeah, I do.
- 3:46Don Armstrong: You'll wind up with a pistol shot by the front window.
- 3:49Jeff Dziekan: I'm pretty quick.
- 3:50Jeff Dziekan: I can dodge it.
- 3:51Jeff Dziekan: But when you're third in line, they don't know who's doing it.
- 3:53Jeff Dziekan: So uh that's right.
- 3:55Jeff Dziekan: Third in line.
- 3:55Jeff Dziekan: Get a train horn.
- 3:56Jeff Dziekan: I would my Oldsmobile that I had, my dad gave me, had the old the Cadillac horns on it.
- 4:02Jeff Dziekan: And there were the long tubes.
- 4:04Jeff Dziekan: It looked like a trombone, and at the end of the track trumpet.
- 4:08Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, trumpet.
- 4:08Jeff Dziekan: Trumpet.
- 4:09Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, trumpets.
- 4:09Jeff Dziekan: I had two of those, and it sounded like a train horn.
- 4:11Jeff Dziekan: It was just a General Motors thing.
- 4:13Jeff Dziekan: Love that.
- 4:14Jeff Dziekan: I need that.
- 4:15Jeff Dziekan: I think that I think I need that back.
- 4:16Don Armstrong: You know, they sell those now.
- 4:18Don Armstrong: Then they're they're relatively cheap because they're not, you don't have to hook an air pump up to it.
- 4:23Jeff Dziekan: Those are illegal, I think.
- 4:24Jeff Dziekan: The ones that you're illegal.
- 4:27Jeff Dziekan: It's just a leg electric one that you normally so what are you gonna do?
- 4:30Don Armstrong: Write me a tra write me a ticket for a train horn?
- 4:33Jeff Dziekan: Well, I think you they can't.
- 4:34Jeff Dziekan: It's like having those big spikes on the on the rims, too.
- 4:36Jeff Dziekan: I think those are illegal.
- 4:38Don Armstrong: I'm gonna get some of those too.
- 4:39Don Armstrong: And then I'm gonna and then I'm gonna train a section.
- 4:42Don Armstrong: I'm gonna find out where uh Steve Woodard is, and I'm gonna roll past him, honk the horn, and kind of scrape the side of his car with those great big lug nuts or those baskets.
- 4:54Jeff Dziekan: He's got a new like a chariot race.
- 4:56Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, chariot reel.
- 4:57Jeff Dziekan: But it drives me nuts.
- 4:59Jeff Dziekan: Or you're you're at a light and you look over to you know to see the wandering eyes, you look at the person next to you, and they're doing this.
- 5:06Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 5:08Jeff Dziekan: You know, George Carlin had a bit in his uh comedy routine where when you get your license, you're issued a little toy dart gun with the suction cups on it.
- 5:17Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 5:18Jeff Dziekan: And if you see somebody doing something bad, you shoot their car with the little suction cup and the thing.
- 5:23Jeff Dziekan: You get three suction cups on your car at any given time, you get a ticket for whatever it is, or you go to jail if you got three suction cups.
- 5:30Jeff Dziekan: How good is that these are being brought back?
- 5:33Jeff Dziekan: Oh, it just drives me up a wall.
- 5:35Jeff Dziekan: And I'm not uh I'm patient, but I can get you know upset.
- 5:40Jeff Dziekan: And Kathy hates when I get upset because I do land the horn, or I say bad language.
- 5:44Don Armstrong: Do you?
- 5:45unknown: Okay.
- 5:46Don Armstrong: Oh, darn.
- 5:47Don Armstrong: What is it?
- 5:47Don Armstrong: Get the heck out of my way.
- 5:50Don Armstrong: You big dummy.
- 5:51Don Armstrong: I've been with him, I know.
- 5:54Don Armstrong: He has quite the vocabulary, too.
- 5:56Don Armstrong: And the fun thing about it is, most of these were learned in the Detroit Auto Market area.
- 6:03Jeff Dziekan: I was a sailor one time.
- 6:04Jeff Dziekan: No, yeah.
- 6:05Jeff Dziekan: This factory talk.
- 6:07Jeff Dziekan: Factory talk.
- 6:08Jeff Dziekan: Gosh darn it.
- 6:09Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 6:10Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 6:12Don Armstrong: When you know that you paid the dollar and a quarter for the cookie in the commissary at the Ford Motor Company, and and then you get fired for not paying for it.
- 6:21Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 6:21Don Armstrong: And when essence you did pay for it.
- 6:25Don Armstrong: Here's my receipt.
- 6:26Don Armstrong: Golly gee.
- 6:28Jeff Dziekan: That's what I say.
- 6:29Don Armstrong: Mars?
- 6:31Don Armstrong: What kind of uh vocabulary do you have when you get mad?
- 6:34Mike Marrs: I have a very good vocabulary.
- 6:36Don Armstrong: Let me hear it.
- 6:37Mike Marrs: Hello.
- 6:38Mike Marrs: How are you?
- 6:39Don Armstrong: But no, what no, what what kind of what kind of what kind of bad things do you think?
- 6:44Mike Marrs: I I really don't speak ugly to most people.
- 6:48Don Armstrong: No, not most people.
- 6:49Don Armstrong: I'm talking about in the car by yourself when somebody is on their cell phone and the cars are backed up trying to get through the light.
- 6:58Mike Marrs: I can't repeat that on the air.
- 7:00Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, we'll see.
- 7:00Jeff Dziekan: There you go.
- 7:01Jeff Dziekan: I'm concerned that you know nowadays the car's all the technology and you're saying bad things about bad things.
- 7:06Jeff Dziekan: And does the car gonna pick it up?
- 7:07Jeff Dziekan: Is it gonna record it?
- 7:08Jeff Dziekan: Is it gonna send it to your mother?
- 7:10Mike Marrs: If Alexis picks this up and reports it, maybe somebody will do something about it.
- 7:15Don Armstrong: Well, I'm having to write down my favorite word, and uh Leslie told me what my favorite word is, and that's it.
- 7:22Don Armstrong: Oh I I use that apparently freak frequently and often.
- 7:32Don Armstrong: I don't know.
- 7:33Jeff Dziekan: It's a good one, boy.
- 7:34Jeff Dziekan: It's a good one.
- 7:35Jeff Dziekan: It is a it is a good one, and you know, I I it make the church rafter shake.
- 7:42Don Armstrong: And it's not what you're thinking, it's not that, it's what I'm thinking.
- 7:47Mike Marrs: Are you sure?
- 7:48Jeff Dziekan: Well, yeah.
- 7:50Jeff Dziekan: Well, then that that leads me to a story.
- 7:52Jeff Dziekan: Uh, and this is kind of a little off topic, but with the words and and uh directions.
- 7:56Jeff Dziekan: Uh, there's a elementary school young young teacher teaching young kids uh about mammals, and it's a science class.
- 8:04Jeff Dziekan: And here we go.
- 8:06Jeff Dziekan: This teacher says, Well, the whale is the largest mammal on earth, and it swims around the ocean, and it has you know baby whales and everything, and it eats plankton, and its throat is kind of small, and it doesn't swallow anything big, like like they say, a human, but occasionally a little baby seal will get swallowed up.
- 8:21Jeff Dziekan: And little Sally raises her hand and yes, Sally, what's the question?
- 8:24Jeff Dziekan: She goes, Well, Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
- 8:27Jeff Dziekan: And the teacher goes, Well, no, the whale doesn't isn't built like that.
- 8:30Jeff Dziekan: The whale doesn't swallow human beings.
- 8:31Jeff Dziekan: She goes, Well, when I get to heaven, I'm gonna ask him.
- 8:34Jeff Dziekan: And the teacher goes, Well, okay, what happens if he didn't go to heaven?
- 8:38Jeff Dziekan: And she goes, Well, if he went the other way, then you ask him.
- 8:44Don Armstrong: I like it.
- 8:45Don Armstrong: All right, you know, we I have been talking to Jeff over the past couple of years with the help of other people.
- 8:53Don Armstrong: Jeff, why don't why don't we come up with a new feature called, you know, Jeff's thoughts?
- 9:01Don Armstrong: Rant.
- 9:02Don Armstrong: Jeff's thoughts.
- 9:03Don Armstrong: And um, and he can use accents because Jeff Jeff has some very good accents.
- 9:11Don Armstrong: And um we have a very large population out here that it is very fluent in their language, but it comes across strong.
- 9:21Don Armstrong: Um, and and you can still understand them, but it's a very strong accent.
- 9:26Don Armstrong: Oh, I can't do that.
- 9:27Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, it's kind of why why?
- 9:30Don Armstrong: I mean uh you know, we've got uh insult anybody.
- 9:36Don Armstrong: That's not that it's it's not an insult.
- 9:39Don Armstrong: But that's about it.
- 9:41Don Armstrong: Well, let me put it this way I can tell you that his that his accent like this is very, very good.
- 9:48Don Armstrong: And um it adds to the story.
- 9:51Mike Marrs: No, I'm just thinking, I'm thinking random thoughts from a dark mind.
- 9:56Mike Marrs: I mean, there you go.
- 9:57Don Armstrong: No, I no, light thoughts.
- 9:59Don Armstrong: It'd be more along the lines of no deep thoughts.
- 10:04Don Armstrong: Deep thoughts, there you go.
- 10:05Don Armstrong: From the Saturday Night Live.
- 10:07Don Armstrong: Or no thoughts.
- 10:10Don Armstrong: You know what we always do.
- 10:12Don Armstrong: I'm not going to do it.
- 10:14Don Armstrong: See, see, these are the kinds of things that that that just come up.
- 10:18Don Armstrong: And this usually happens.
- 10:20Don Armstrong: This usually happens on a Friday evening after one or two marker readings.
- 10:25Don Armstrong: We have to get at least one down before we get it together.
- 10:27Don Armstrong: And and and you know, we're all crying at the table and we're thinking, you really need to do that on the show.
- 10:33Don Armstrong: Oh no, I can't do that.
- 10:35Don Armstrong: Well, you know, Michael Berry's got Shirley Q liquor.
- 10:39Don Armstrong: Do you know who Shirley Q liquor really is?
- 10:41Don Armstrong: It's a white guy.
- 10:42Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:43Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 10:43Don Armstrong: I mean, it it's not making fun of the race or anything.
- 10:47Don Armstrong: It has nothing to do with that.
- 10:48Don Armstrong: We'll see.
- 10:49Don Armstrong: We'll see.
- 10:49Don Armstrong: It has everything to do with the actual subject at hand, and you put the accent to it, and it really adds to the story in my opinion.
- 10:57Jeff Dziekan: Maybe we've got somebody call in on our hotline or something and do that.
- 11:00Jeff Dziekan: Absolutely.
- 11:00Jeff Dziekan: Call Mike on the hotline.
- 11:01Don Armstrong: Mike, what is the hotline?
- 11:03Don Armstrong: Should I give them out your personal cell phone number that you answer at three o'clock in the morning?
- 11:08Don Armstrong: Because we found that out.
- 11:09Don Armstrong: Notifications.
- 11:10Don Armstrong: We found that out today.
- 11:12Mike Marrs: Facebook, you can text, you can chat with us, text us by YouTube, Facebook, any of those opportunities.
- 11:18Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, if you have some cute story, just you know, let us know if you want to subscribe.
- 11:21Jeff Dziekan: We have been getting some new subscribers lately.
- 11:23Jeff Dziekan: Uh, and if if you're a new subscriber, give us your name, not just your handle on where you're you're you're from, because it's kind of hard to just decipher what it is.
- 11:32Jeff Dziekan: But yeah, new subscribers, let us know, and we appreciate you.
- 11:36Jeff Dziekan: Maybe next time.
- 11:39Don Armstrong: No, it it it we'll definitely have to you and you'll have to work on this because you we can't leave you with just one one joke.
- 11:49Don Armstrong: It's gonna have to be, you know, you're gonna have a little stock.
- 11:52Don Armstrong: Maybe we could sprinkle it in throughout the show or something.
- 11:54Mike Marrs: Yeah, we'll sprinkle them in.
- 11:55Don Armstrong: Well, I think we definitely need to have a feature.
- 11:57Don Armstrong: What do you think, Mr.
- 11:58Don Armstrong: Morris?
- 11:59Mike Marrs: I think we could do uh a lot worse, that's for sure.
- 12:02Mike Marrs: Yeah, exactly.
- 12:03Don Armstrong: Well, and you know, here's the other thought, too, is that we could put up a picture of some random person and let Jeff tell the story over the picture of the random person.
- 12:14Don Armstrong: Pick a name out of the phone book.
- 12:16Don Armstrong: The phone book.
- 12:17Don Armstrong: The phone book.
- 12:18Don Armstrong: By the way, speaking of which, you know, there are these people that do these posts on all sorts of Instagram and Facebook and all that stuff.
- 12:29Don Armstrong: And um they uh have uh glomed onto some of the things that the kids now no longer know, and one of them is the white pages and the yellow pages.
- 12:42Don Armstrong: They have absolutely no clue what that is.
- 12:46Don Armstrong: Well, that goes to show you how old we are, because we do, and then they continue with the asking the questions.
- 12:54Don Armstrong: So, what do you think that means?
- 12:58Don Armstrong: Well, you've gone to Staples and you bought a pack of white paper, and that would be the white pages.
- 13:09Don Armstrong: No, that's not it.
- 13:11Don Armstrong: It's a book of information, and then they sit there and they ponder and they say things out loud about what it could possibly be.
- 13:18Jeff Dziekan: And it is absolutely hysterical.
- 13:20Jeff Dziekan: I thought when they combined, you know, because it used to be the white pages were a separate book, and they they combined them, and that was like genius.
- 13:27Jeff Dziekan: Uh, do you remember sitting around just tearing them in half, you know, after school, tearing phone books?
- 13:30Jeff Dziekan: No, I don't remember that.
- 13:31Jeff Dziekan: Those were fun days, yeah.
- 13:33Don Armstrong: But I do know that here in Houston, I I remember distinctly when they put them into two different books because each of the books were like that thick as Houston continued to grow.
- 13:43Don Armstrong: They couldn't put them all, the book would be that thick.
- 13:46Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, so uh did you ever have your dad put you in a tire and roll you down a hill inside the tire?
- 13:51Jeff Dziekan: No.
- 13:51Jeff Dziekan: Well, those are good years, yeah.
- 13:53Mike Marrs: We've done that.
- 13:54Mike Marrs: Yeah, those were good years.
- 13:56Don Armstrong: Thank you.
- 13:58Don Armstrong: And you know that the word that I wrote Michael, the word that I wrote down when we were discussing things that you'd say in the car, I put it at the top of my rundown page here.
- 14:08Don Armstrong: He's gonna, he's gonna say it.
- 14:09Don Armstrong: And and uh I've you know, it's there.
- 14:12Don Armstrong: It's there, and apparently I say it quite frequently when I get frustrated in traffic.
- 14:18Don Armstrong: I don't notice it when I'm by myself, but I still say it.
- 14:24Mike Marrs: Nobody's listening when you're by yourself.
- 14:26Don Armstrong: Nobody's listening anyway, Mike.
- 14:28Don Armstrong: It doesn't make me say, yeah.
- 14:30Jeff Dziekan: Do you sing in the car?
- 14:32Don Armstrong: Uh rarely, but yeah, sometimes.
- 14:34Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, if there's something good that's on the radio, I'll tap your foot or your finger because I'm always beating on something.
- 14:39Jeff Dziekan: Jason gave me the little things, it's it's uh like this mic stand, but it's got a little symbol on it.
- 14:45Jeff Dziekan: And you plug it into your you clip it onto your vent and you play your driving and hit the symbol.
- 14:51Jeff Dziekan: Hit the symbol.
- 14:52Don Armstrong: It's kind of like the button that uh that was easy.
- 14:56Don Armstrong: That was easy.
- 14:56Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, you got buttons on the on the board.
- 14:58Jeff Dziekan: I do, yeah.
- 15:00Mike Marrs: About several, several years ago, I was on the way to work one morning in the fall, it was cool, the windows were down, I had the radio cranked up, and I was jamming.
- 15:08Mike Marrs: And I look in my rearview mirror, and here's this motorcycle policeman with red lights and all that stuff going.
- 15:13Mike Marrs: And I pull over and he comes up, he said, What in the hell do you think you're doing?
- 15:18Mike Marrs: I said, Uh I was just going to work.
- 15:21Mike Marrs: He said, No, you were jamming here.
- 15:25Mike Marrs: Speeding.
- 15:26Mike Marrs: Yeah, you know.
- 15:27Don Armstrong: Well, that that that speeding, you that's not a support.
- 15:30Don Armstrong: You're listening to Margaret.
- 15:32Don Armstrong: I've ridden with you once, and that's all I'll ever ride with you again.
- 15:38Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 15:39Don Armstrong: No Mars is like the early adoption of the lane keeping assist with kind of bounced between it because of him.
- 15:47Don Armstrong: Yeah, but this particular one, it bounces between the stripes.
- 15:51Don Armstrong: It didn't stay in between them, it bounces between them.
- 15:54Mike Marrs: For the taxes I pay, I want to use the whole road.
- 15:58Don Armstrong: That's that's good.
- 16:00Don Armstrong: Uh we will uh definitely have to remember that.
- 16:02Jeff Dziekan: Well, yeah, and then uh Neely, Neely could be able to help us with that too, but he wasn't on.
- 16:06Don Armstrong: No, he wasn't on either, and neither was Angel and somebody else.
- 16:10Don Armstrong: I mean, it's been we've been batting a thousand here today.
- 16:14Don Armstrong: It's okay.
- 16:14Mike Marrs: Yes, we have.
- 16:15Don Armstrong: Yeah, it's all your fault, Mike, but you've heard that before.
- 16:19Mike Marrs: Yep.
- 16:20Don Armstrong: Yeah, well, it's I'm glad to get the that does that bear off my shoulder.
- 16:24Jeff Dziekan: Does uh Becky or your mom say bad language in the car when they're in the car?
- 16:28Don Armstrong: They don't say bad language ever.
- 16:30Jeff Dziekan: No.
- 16:31Don Armstrong: No.
- 16:32Don Armstrong: Okay.

- 18:41Don Armstrong: It's free, and it is wonderful.
- 18:45Jeff Dziekan: Time now for the motor minute, Jeffrey.
- 18:47Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, Don, you were talking about China and uh sales and things in China.
- 18:50Jeff Dziekan: Well, General Motors, or Chevrolet, an iconic American brand of General Motors, is waving the white flag in China at steep drops and sales over there.
- 18:59Jeff Dziekan: According to report, uh, the brand is ending sales in the country after 21 years.
- 19:03Jeff Dziekan: While the idea was once unthinkable, the publication reported that the sales went down from over 767,000 units in 2020 to less than 9,000 just last year.
- 19:14Jeff Dziekan: Decline of 98.8% in just a little more of a decade.
- 19:17Jeff Dziekan: But the story gets better.
- 19:19Jeff Dziekan: The writing has been on the wall for a while.
- 19:21Jeff Dziekan: GM recently said that they've sharpened his focus on the Buek and Cadillac brands in China.
- 19:25Jeff Dziekan: That's good.
- 19:26Jeff Dziekan: Uh they're far more successful, and the company has hit the new electric lineup or the electra lineup is what they're calling it in China.
- 19:34Jeff Dziekan: Chevlet offered a number of different models in China, including some that would be familiar here to us in America.
- 19:40Jeff Dziekan: This included the Blazor, the Equinox, the Malibu XL, and the Seeker, which is what they're calling a trax.
- 19:46Jeff Dziekan: They were joined by Monza, the Menlo EV, Equinox plugin, hybrid, and a tracker.
- 19:52Jeff Dziekan: Most of these are gas powered, despite the fact that Chinese consumers embrace the new electric energy focus.
- 19:58Jeff Dziekan: While the Bow Thai brand will end its China GM uh sales with GM sales will reportedly continue to build Chevrolets in the country as the automaker explained their lineup optimally tailored to the needs of the export market.
- 20:13Jeff Dziekan: So they're going to build them in China just to get them out of China.
- 20:16Jeff Dziekan: Needless to say, GM isn't giving up China following the failure of Chevrolet.
- 20:21Jeff Dziekan: Quite the opposite.
- 20:22Jeff Dziekan: GM recently extended their partnership with China for 20 more years.
- 20:30Don Armstrong: You know, it build them and export them, but can we say dumb, dumb, and dumber?
- 20:38Don Armstrong: Unbelievable.
- 20:39Don Armstrong: All right.
- 20:39Don Armstrong: Time now for the much delayed and much sought-after review of the Subaru Outback.
- 20:46Don Armstrong: And Mr.
- 20:47Don Armstrong: Mars, my apologies.
- 20:48Don Armstrong: I know that I skipped over you last hour, but we're going to make up for it now.
- 20:53Mike Marrs: We got plenty of time.
- 20:54Mike Marrs: We got plenty of time.
- 20:56Mike Marrs: So again, we're talking about the 2026 Subaru Outback.
- 21:00Mike Marrs: Now, this is all new design for 2026, so it's actually the seventh gen iteration of this vehicle.
- 21:07Mike Marrs: Now the final assembly location is in Ota, Guma, Japan, or something to that effect.
- 21:13Mike Marrs: It's available in six trim levels the premium, the limited, the limited XT, the wilderness, the touring, and the touring XT.
- 21:22Mike Marrs: Now I happen to be driving the wilderness for the review time.
- 21:25Mike Marrs: Now the government says this is a small SUV.
- 21:28Mike Marrs: With it parked in the side in the driveway next to my wife's mid-size, I would think it's more of a mid-size, but being that what it may, seats five passengers.
- 21:37Mike Marrs: Now, this year it's got a taller roof line on it, so you got a lot bigger windows, which improves the view outside of it.
- 21:47Mike Marrs: Uh it's got power heated side mirrors, got black uh roof rails on it.
- 21:52Mike Marrs: The front LED lighting package that goes all the way around it, but the front headlights or steering responsive headlights, which at night To kind of play with a little bit, but it's pretty cool to watch it.
- 22:02Mike Marrs: Uh, even got uh the daytime running lights and the fog lights are also LEDs.
- 22:07Mike Marrs: It's got a moon roof on it, again, the black roof racks, and it's rolling on some 17-inch black wheels.
- 22:13Mike Marrs: Now, this all works together to give it that rugged off-road look that they're looking for with the wilderness brand.
- 22:19Mike Marrs: But on the inside, we're gonna find black Napa leather.
- 22:22Mike Marrs: The front seats are heated and ventilated.
- 22:25Mike Marrs: The second row seats are also heated on the outboard seating positions.
- 22:30Mike Marrs: Got a 12.1-inch multimedia system right there in the middle of it.
- 22:33Mike Marrs: Big nice screen with navigation, got your surround view, hardened, Harman card and speakers for the audio kind of fill it up really nice.
- 22:41Mike Marrs: A 12.3 inch LCD instrument cluster gives you all the information the driver's gonna be looking for, and you can adjust it, of course, to whatever you want.
- 22:50Mike Marrs: Wireless charging for your phones, uh, it's got front and rear USB ports for everybody to have plenty of times to places to plug in their stuff.
- 22:58Mike Marrs: And the rear seat is a 6040 fold-down, and it does have a cargo cover in the back, which a lot of people kind of, but that's really important, I think, because it keeps all your good stuff back there out of sight, out of mind, so people don't even think about trying to steal it.
- 23:13Mike Marrs: Now, the outback can come with two different engines.
- 23:16Mike Marrs: The wilderness has the 2.4-liter turbo boxer.
- 23:20Mike Marrs: This has got 260 horsepower, 277-pound feed of torque on it.
- 23:24Mike Marrs: It's backed by a CVT, but you can put it into a manual mode which mimics an eight-speed transmission.
- 23:31Mike Marrs: Uh the tow rating is 3,500, so that'll take care of your small boats, your kayaks, and maybe even a small pop-up camper.
- 23:39Mike Marrs: Now, the EPA says you should be looking for about 21 miles to the gallon in the city, highway 27, combined 23.
- 23:46Mike Marrs: Now, I got 21.8 across 292 miles.
- 23:50Mike Marrs: Most of my time was spent in town, did a little bit out on the highway.
- 23:54Mike Marrs: So I was well pleased with what I got out of it because with the turbo, it's got a quick power.
- 23:59Mike Marrs: There's really not a turbo lag to it that I really felt was uh important to notice, but it was very quick and had plenty of power and very responsive steering, and the lane keeping system was really strong.
- 24:13Mike Marrs: In other words, it will you knew it had it, you could almost fight it if you wanted to change lanes without turning on the turn signal.
- 24:19Mike Marrs: It would let you know that you're doing it, and it would you'd have to kind of fight it a little bit.
- 24:24Mike Marrs: And I really liked driving it because I had a lot of glass, the big glass on it's got a lot of view, you can see outside real well, almost like driving a big bus.
- 24:33Don Armstrong: That's for those people that are uh really getting bad at seeing things.
- 24:36Don Armstrong: Can you see over the steering wheel?
- 24:38Mike Marrs: Exactly.
- 24:39Mike Marrs: But it was it was really cool like that.
- 24:41Mike Marrs: Now, the base trim price on this is$44,995.
- 24:45Mike Marrs: Now, the as tested price is$50,539.
- 24:50Don Armstrong: Wow, and a Subaru, yeah, uh mid-trim level Subaru.
- 24:55Mike Marrs: And the of course you get a base model price at$34,995.
- 24:59Mike Marrs: So using that, went over and looked at the Chevrolet Blazer,$34,300 is the base model on it.
- 25:05Mike Marrs: The Mazda CX70,$42,750, and the Honda Passport is$44,950.
- 25:11Mike Marrs: And again, I thought that that's where it fit in better because it's a little bit bigger, it's square, it looks much more like a mid-size to me than the smaller ones, and these all seem like fairly comparable, other than the price.
- 25:23Mike Marrs: Subaru is definitely a better price in that range.
- 25:26Mike Marrs: So that's some of the things that I found on the 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness package.
- 25:32Don Armstrong: You know, I I will have to admit to you that I actually like the Subaru brand.
- 25:40Don Armstrong: Um, I think that uh it's a different way to build a car.
- 25:44Don Armstrong: I like the boxer engines, I like those a lot.
- 25:47Don Armstrong: They do a very good job with those.
- 25:49Don Armstrong: And you know, the CVT transmissions have actually been bumped up.
- 25:54Don Armstrong: They they remember the original ones?
- 25:56Don Armstrong: God, they were just awful.
- 25:57Don Armstrong: You know, rev rev up to 6,000 RPM and sit there forever and ever and ever until you got it up to 60 miles an hour.
- 26:04Don Armstrong: They're not like that anymore.
- 26:06Mike Marrs: No.
- 26:06Don Armstrong: Um, and Subaru has come miles and miles now with their new interiors.
- 26:13Don Armstrong: They've they've been working at it.
- 26:15Don Armstrong: And um, I think that they're doing a much better job than they used to.
- 26:19Don Armstrong: And for those that are in the market, I would definitely suggest that you at least give them a try.
- 26:26Don Armstrong: Shop it.
- 26:27Don Armstrong: You may not like it, but shop it because uh chances are you're gonna find something in there that you're gonna like.
- 26:33Don Armstrong: I just that that's me.
- 26:35Don Armstrong: Uh would I go out and buy one?
- 26:37Don Armstrong: I wouldn't, I'm not in the a new car buying mode, but uh I definitely would put it on my shopping list.
- 26:44Don Armstrong: Wouldn't you, Mr.
- 26:44Don Armstrong: Mars?
- 26:45Mike Marrs: Particularly this Outback, because of the size of it, this new generation of 2026 by it being new, the changes they've made, it's gone away from all that swoopy stuff that you used to see in the smallest.
- 26:56Don Armstrong: Well, and they all look like grown station wagons.
- 26:59Mike Marrs: Yeah, and they've got and this one is definitely, to me, looks better and more like that in what a lot of the bigger full.
- 27:05Jeff Dziekan: Wheel trim packages and things is kind of hard to get used to for me.
- 27:08Don Armstrong: Yeah, I think that they I think that they've come a long way and uh they've allowed themselves to change it up and make the different models that people are actually looking for.
- 27:17Don Armstrong: I I I'm I'm kind of impressed with the super.
- 27:20Don Armstrong: You know, it's the other Japanese automaker.
- 27:23Mike Marrs: Right.
- 27:24Mike Marrs: I got a friend that he's on his second outback, and he he wouldn't drive anything else.
- 27:29Don Armstrong: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:30Don Armstrong: And from what I understand, very reliable.
- 27:32Don Armstrong: They last a long time, and you rarely hear of one of those being recalled.
- 27:37Jeff Dziekan: Well, yeah, my sister-in-law had one, and she had an accident and that was into that car, but you had it for a long time.
- 27:42Jeff Dziekan: They loved it.
- 27:42Don Armstrong: Yeah.
