Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's been a big week in the netball where we
- 0:10Speaker 1: can finally stop asking the goat where the Netball Grand
- 0:13Speaker 1: Final is going to be held, because we're all looking
- 0:15Speaker 1: at our frequent flyer points and hotel bookings and getting
- 0:19Speaker 1: ready to descend on Melbourne. But we will talk about
- 0:22Speaker 1: that and so much more.
- 0:23Speaker 2: This is Noble.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to No Drible the podcasts where we
- 0:40Speaker 1: talk about netball, but we talk about so much more.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And it's early on a Monday morning. And when I
- 0:47Speaker 1: say early, it's only three hours earlier than usual. School
- 0:50Speaker 1: has started, so it's not like bakery early, but bakery
- 0:55Speaker 1: that would be good with it. I would have thought that,
- 0:57Speaker 1: since you need us to start earlier, Catherine Cox, that
- 1:00Speaker 1: maybe you would have brought baked goods.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Should have Yeah, you know, I can't do that in
- 1:04Speaker 2: the morning, that's too much. I did get coffee, though
- 1:06Speaker 2: I should have got something, I know, and I didn't
- 1:09Speaker 2: even bring you one. I can't think unless I've had
- 1:11Speaker 2: my coffee. Hi guys, Hello, caf cocks.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Hello. And while we're talking at bakeries, my daughter has
- 1:17Speaker 3: a job at a bakery, but when we went on
- 1:19Speaker 3: holiday she stopped working. And I've just listening to you
- 1:22Speaker 3: to talk about baked goods, and I'm thinking I haven't
- 1:24Speaker 3: had free pies for a while because she gets leftover pies.
- 1:27Speaker 3: So anyway, I'll be on her to remind her boss
- 1:31Speaker 3: that she's back and available to work because I want
- 1:34Speaker 3: baked goods.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I decided on for lunch yesterday because the new book
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm writing, I've got a character who's a seventeen year
- 1:41Speaker 1: old male and he's thinking about a sausage roll, and
- 1:44Speaker 1: so I've been obsessing about sausage rolls since writing this.
- 1:48Speaker 1: On Wednesday, but I thought, I can't have a sausage
- 1:51Speaker 1: roll on a Wednesday because then I'll just I'll lose
- 1:55Speaker 1: complete control. It's like you got to have your sausage
- 1:58Speaker 1: you know, you go. Sausage rolls are great, but if
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'm having a sausage roll on a Wednesday, it means
- 2:02Speaker 1: that I've just dropped all my standards. I might as
- 2:04Speaker 1: well start drinking on a Monday morning.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But there's what's wrong with having it on the Wednesday
- 2:08Speaker 2: and just not having it on the weekend. It's the
- 2:10Speaker 2: same day. But I totally know where your head stakes are.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and I know exactly what you're saying too, but
- 2:15Speaker 1: it's like, well, then I was looking forward to it,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and I knew I had some early starts on the weekend,
- 2:19Speaker 1: late nights, and so I thought after Dotty's volleyball and
- 2:24Speaker 1: Saturday would be a nice time for the sausage roll.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I didn't have it till Sunday. I couldn't execute the
- 2:28Speaker 1: plan until then. But I think I enjoyed it more
- 2:30Speaker 1: for the anticipation.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I get like that around Easter, Like if I've got
- 2:33Speaker 2: an Easter egg in the fridge, I'll say I'll just
- 2:35Speaker 2: have half today and then I'll have half tomorrow, and
- 2:38Speaker 2: I'm like, well, stuff, and I'm azzle to eat the
- 2:39Speaker 2: whole thing because regardless it's gone right, Yeah, whenever it.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Happens, it's a problem. Then if you replace it, isn't it.
- 2:45Speaker 1: If you have an Easter chicken laying Easter eggs, yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and you've got a supply, then you're in trouble. There's
- 2:53Speaker 1: a business idea for your kids, Liz.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah, no, because I would probably eat most of the proceeds,
- 2:59Speaker 3: so we won't be doing that. Do you have a
- 3:01Speaker 3: Do you have a preferred sausage roll? You know there's
- 3:04Speaker 3: different types. There's pork, there's pork and fennel. There's beef.
- 3:07Speaker 2: My god, your ones are good. What are in yours?
- 3:10Speaker 3: I just put in beef mints, but I put in
- 3:14Speaker 3: like there's as much veggies as zeries mints. And I
- 3:17Speaker 3: put in like apple, like grated apple.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Do you put black sesame seeds on the top?
- 3:24Speaker 3: I put white sesame seeds on.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Oh that's smart, so to get them stuck in your teeth,
- 3:29Speaker 2: you don't look stupid.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Well, it's actually more that that's just what I happen
- 3:33Speaker 3: to buy. I'm not you know, I'm not partial to
- 3:36Speaker 3: white sesame seeds. If there was black on specialized buy
- 3:38Speaker 3: them too, So it doesn't really matter. But sesb seeds
- 3:41Speaker 3: are a vital compartent. They make them look fatcy. When
- 3:43Speaker 3: I walk into a bakery and there's no sesame seeds
- 3:45Speaker 3: on top, or sometimes I have the fenel seeds on top,
- 3:48Speaker 3: I'm like, you haven't tried. I'm not buying sausage rail
- 3:51Speaker 3: from it.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Really, I think anything less on the top that the
- 3:54Speaker 2: kids are going to make a mess with is a win,
- 3:56Speaker 2: you know, like the fun bums at Baker's Delight. God,
- 4:00Speaker 2: don't buy the ones with the hundreds and thousands on
- 4:02Speaker 2: the top because that's asking for trouble. But I'm hot.
- 4:05Speaker 3: If you're worried about mess from a you shouldn't just shouldn't.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Go to a bakery and do not have a Croissan across.
- 4:11Speaker 3: And the best pastries are the ones that fall apart
- 4:13Speaker 3: in flake everywhere, So like for you, it's no good.
- 4:17Speaker 1: So Donnie's best mate, her dad keeps in the car
- 4:21Speaker 1: hundreds and thousands because they'll go to Macca's and get
- 4:23Speaker 1: the those flurries. No, no, the little cones. They used
- 4:27Speaker 1: to be thirty cents now, but in.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Six bucks they'll go.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Probably they'll go and get one of the soft served
- 4:33Speaker 1: cones and then turn and then put the sprinkles on
- 4:36Speaker 1: in the car. And I was stressed because it's like, well,
- 4:39Speaker 1: how do you do that? But like they'll come through
- 4:41Speaker 1: the drive through and then he'll put the ice cream
- 4:44Speaker 1: out the window smart and.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Then push them all in so they don't fall off.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Yes, I'm so we are all learning today, are we?
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Oh, and that tip is brought to you buy no dribble.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I don't say we're not, Hey, this is funny. Daryl
- 5:03Speaker 1: Milton sent me a note on the weekend and he
- 5:05Speaker 1: asked chat GPT, what is the point of no dribble?
- 5:09Speaker 1: And chat GPT really struggled to come up with the
- 5:14Speaker 1: point of no dribble, And I thought, well, they've nailed it, then,
- 5:17Speaker 1: haven't they. It's nailed it. You can't give human pronouns
- 5:20Speaker 1: to chat GPT. We're not there yet. Two years time
- 5:23Speaker 1: they'll be ruling us all. But at the moment, chat
- 5:25Speaker 1: gpt is still in it.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Well, let's fast forward to two years time. What is
- 5:29Speaker 2: it saying at that point?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yes, exactly, what is the point?
- 5:32Speaker 2: It's still nothing exactly, it's still got a blank. I
- 5:35Speaker 2: know who they are, but I still can't answer this question.
- 5:38Speaker 3: What's the point. The point is that gives us an
- 5:41Speaker 3: excuse to catch up on a Monday morning, and sometimes
- 5:43Speaker 3: we forget that people listen to correct, but.
- 5:47Speaker 1: We do have. We're all waiting with baited breath for
- 5:50Speaker 1: the update on the weekend. I thought about you on Saturday.
- 5:53Speaker 1: It was as hot as the sun.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So hot, yeah, so hot. But you know what a
- 5:58Speaker 2: really good day. And I'm going to tell you it's
- 6:00Speaker 2: started with the cutest little win So Harper was allowed
- 6:04Speaker 2: to bring three friends.
- 6:05Speaker 1: So we need an update.
- 6:06Speaker 2: It's your daughter's double digit's birthday, tenth birthday, decided she
- 6:11Speaker 2: wanted to go to Luna Park.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Right. So the biggest problem with Luna Park is there's
- 6:16Speaker 2: a height restriction for rides and they have to have
- 6:21Speaker 2: the wristband that allows them on the certain rides. And
- 6:24Speaker 2: Harper's three closest friends, two of them are the tallest
- 6:29Speaker 2: girls in the year. So with Harper, that makes three
- 6:31Speaker 2: tallest girls in the year.
- 6:33Speaker 1: The other one, oh, they should start a podcast.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Safe to say, same, God, it is actually what we are.
- 6:40Speaker 2: And the other one, safe to say, is probably one
- 6:42Speaker 2: of the shortest in the year. Right, So the other
- 6:44Speaker 2: one's clear the one thirty two centimeters very easily. Anyway,
- 6:49Speaker 2: I text these one little kid's mum and I said, oh,
- 6:52Speaker 2: because I was trying to book the tickets, how tall
- 6:54Speaker 2: do you think she is? And she goes on, we
- 6:56Speaker 2: just measured her. She's right on one thirty two. So
- 6:59Speaker 2: it was it was going to be yes or no
- 7:01Speaker 2: when she was going to be able to get the
- 7:02Speaker 2: yellow thing and go on the rides. Because I didn't
- 7:04Speaker 2: want to have to go on the rides. I was like,
- 7:06Speaker 2: I'm happy to go. I'll sit there with all the
- 7:08Speaker 2: drinks and stuff for them, and when they come off,
- 7:10Speaker 2: they can come and come up and go anyway. So
- 7:12Speaker 2: we get there, all the kids are so excited. We
- 7:14Speaker 2: go up to the thing to measure and straight away
- 7:18Speaker 2: all the girls go, oh, I don't know, I don't think.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I was like, okay, that was the first test. When
- 7:23Speaker 2: we do this properly, no negative chat because you don't
- 7:26Speaker 2: want to you don't want to impact the decis, don't
- 7:29Speaker 2: leave the witness.
- 7:31Speaker 3: So is that like you know, when when you've got
- 7:33Speaker 3: the ball and you're not sure if your foot's out
- 7:35Speaker 3: of core, you you don't draw attention to it.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Let them do their job.
- 7:40Speaker 2: So I was like, okay, so when we go and
- 7:42Speaker 2: do this properly, everyone's going to.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Go yeah, oh, yes, you made it.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yes, yes, anyway, so we go over we're officially getting
- 7:48Speaker 2: measured by the people, and God, love this little girl.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I look down and she's on her tippy toes. But
- 7:56Speaker 2: she was doing it so subtly, played the game beautifully. Anyway,
- 8:00Speaker 2: she was just above it. And they said, yeah, we'll
- 8:02Speaker 2: let you go. And the girl's old chin and they
- 8:05Speaker 2: were jumping up and down. Oh, this is the cutest
- 8:07Speaker 2: little start to the day. Anyway, this little kid just
- 8:10Speaker 2: to teaching them to lie, teaching them to lie and
- 8:14Speaker 2: just the support of each other was so great. Anyway,
- 8:16Speaker 2: this little one ran away with it. She was having
- 8:18Speaker 2: the best day. So the first time on the rides
- 8:20Speaker 2: by herself, and then at one point said to me, oh,
- 8:23Speaker 2: can I go on the little what's the mouse one?
- 8:25Speaker 2: The mouse trap one? By myself? I was like, can
- 8:28Speaker 2: knock yourself out? She was loving it. But got to
- 8:31Speaker 2: tell you. On Sunday I learned that there's a second
- 8:36Speaker 2: half of Luna Park.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's the best.
- 8:39Speaker 2: But I had no idea that existed. I have been
- 8:46Speaker 2: there so many times and never been under Coney Island
- 8:50Speaker 2: to the other half of Luna.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Park where the big slide is.
- 8:55Speaker 2: No, that's Coney Island. If you walk under that, there's
- 8:58Speaker 2: a parcel. There's all these other rides on the other side.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Did you know that?
- 9:04Speaker 3: No, but I haven't been to Luna Park for twenty years.
- 9:06Speaker 1: The vast majority of the rides at Sydney's Lunar Park
- 9:10Speaker 1: are on the other side of Coney Island.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I can't tell you how many times I've been there
- 9:14Speaker 2: and I've never been on the other side of the park,
- 9:17Speaker 2: so we ducked. It was like, oh my god, so
- 9:20Speaker 2: you did find it? I canceled you. Yeah, so that
- 9:24Speaker 2: all the ten year old's telling me what's what on Saurday. Anyway,
- 9:26Speaker 2: it was great, that's good.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Little The story there about your little mate reminds me
- 9:31Speaker 1: of one of the greatest humiliations of my life, and
- 9:33Speaker 1: obviously the point of Thin No Dribble podcast is to
- 9:36Speaker 1: share my life humiliations. When I finished my university, degree
- 9:40Speaker 1: was in Japanese, and I went and lived in Japan
- 9:43Speaker 1: for nearly a year and I had really good language
- 9:45Speaker 1: skills and I came back. It was the recession. We
- 9:47Speaker 1: had to have really hard to get a job, particularly
- 9:50Speaker 1: with like an arts degree. But anyway, there was a
- 9:53Speaker 1: big ad for quantas. It was all written in Japanese,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and so I rang through. I had a job interview
- 9:59Speaker 1: in Japanese nailing this. I got the interview. It was
- 10:02Speaker 1: for cabin crew and you had to be one hundred
- 10:04Speaker 1: and sixty centimeters tall. I'm one hundred and fifty nine
- 10:08Speaker 1: centimeters tall. That cut went into this thing at this
- 10:12Speaker 1: It was in a hotel in the city. So I've
- 10:15Speaker 1: been through, you know, a job interview in a second
- 10:18Speaker 1: language on the phone, with no nonverbal cues or whatever.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I go in, they go they say, okay, we just
- 10:25Speaker 1: have to measure and they said, sorry, you're too short,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and I had to do the walk of shower. Everyone
- 10:31Speaker 1: is that. I don't know whether it still is, but
- 10:34Speaker 1: it's like, I mean, I understand that they have you know,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I do have to. Like domestic flights are fine, but
- 10:40Speaker 1: sometimes on an international flight I struggle a bit with
- 10:43Speaker 1: the overhead being I was going.
- 10:44Speaker 2: To say, what's the test and that actually measure you?
- 10:46Speaker 2: Or they're like can you put this in the cabin?
- 10:48Speaker 1: I'm little, but I'm strong. Oh my god, So thank
- 10:54Speaker 1: you for that very powerful reminder.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Oh anyway, it was a long day. It was a
- 11:02Speaker 2: very hot, but it was great. On the way home, though,
- 11:05Speaker 2: I stopped to get a coffee and across the road
- 11:09Speaker 2: from the cafe there were these three little boys with
- 11:11Speaker 2: an old school lemonade stand.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Oh nice.
- 11:13Speaker 2: When was the last time I saw one of those,
- 11:15Speaker 2: particularly in Sydney. Yea. Anyway, so I thought, right, we've
- 11:18Speaker 2: got to go over there and support these kids. If
- 11:19Speaker 2: they're going to go to the effort to do this,
- 11:21Speaker 2: we are definitely going over there to buy a lemonade.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Have a guess how much? How much would you charge
- 11:27Speaker 2: for lemonade at a lemonade store?
- 11:29Speaker 3: Fifty cents?
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I would have expected. I would have
- 11:33Speaker 2: paid a dollar for dollar. Yeah, yeah, two dollars fifty Wow?
- 11:37Speaker 1: What have your kids ever run a lemonade stall? Though?
- 11:40Speaker 1: It's a very expensive and annoying activity for children to
- 11:45Speaker 1: decide they want to do.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Because it affects the parents.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Well yeah, but it's also like, you know, you've got
- 11:51Speaker 1: to buy them all the ingredients, so it's like two bucks,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and they get sick of it after about two minutes
- 11:56Speaker 1: because you know, well we've done all of this, and
- 11:57Speaker 1: we've set up the stall, and we're here. Now it's
- 12:00Speaker 1: hot and there's no walking past, and it's like, mum,
- 12:02Speaker 1: can you sit out there? Absolutely not am I sitting.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I will sit here and watch you so you don't
- 12:07Speaker 1: get abducted. But friends of ours around the corner, one
- 12:11Speaker 1: of my daughter's friends, her older brother, had a lemonade stall,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and a guy rocked up and went, hey, really happy
- 12:19Speaker 1: to see this, you know, activity you're outside entrepreneurial. Gave
- 12:24Speaker 1: the kid fifty bucks. Oh yeah, and this is not unusual.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I have another comedian mate who's got a bit about this,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and it's like, wow, so this this happens. And I said,
- 12:35Speaker 1: did he then say and now get into the car,
- 12:37Speaker 1: little boy? But no, apparently it was all just above board.
- 12:40Speaker 1: This person was just happy to see children having a
- 12:43Speaker 1: lemonade store.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Well that's why I crossed the street and made the effort.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I wonder, if you're at one hundred and fifty nine centimeters,
- 12:49Speaker 3: if you can put your hair in pigtails and run
- 12:51Speaker 3: a lemonade stalls.
- 12:52Speaker 2: If you get fifty mins, well, don't laugh. These kids
- 12:55Speaker 2: had been there for a couple of hours, and I said, oh,
- 12:57Speaker 2: you made any money? Boys, sixty dollars. Well, I'm not
- 13:01Speaker 2: surprised at two dollars fifty lemonades anyway, I laughed because
- 13:05Speaker 2: I've yeah, so this is the thing. I got out
- 13:09Speaker 2: of the car and I was like, all I had
- 13:10Speaker 2: was the strapnel in my car. But it was five
- 13:12Speaker 2: dollars as well, we'll be fine, like for four lemonades anyway,
- 13:16Speaker 2: get over there. So it's ten dollars worth and I said, oh,
- 13:19Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, guys, I don't have that much money.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And they're like we've got pay id so yes, I
- 13:28Speaker 2: ended up doing a transfer for ten dollars for lemonade.
- 13:31Speaker 1: These kids involved in set out tipping comp for us
- 13:33Speaker 1: because they're clearly more technically savvy than I am.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Oh good. Anyways, survived the day. Thank you for asking.
- 13:41Speaker 2: She got so spoil. The amount of money they presence
- 13:44Speaker 2: for each other now is insane, insane. I would never no.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Ten. And you've got all of this fantastic design again,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and like.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Mecca vouchers and Peter Alexander silk pajamas and the turn unbelieved.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Currently in the country, Catherine, We've got friends who who
- 14:07Speaker 3: own a gelato shop at Lenox Head and whenever there's
- 14:10Speaker 3: a birthday to say them just give us five bouches
- 14:13Speaker 3: for double gelato, and the kids are so happy. Austin
- 14:17Speaker 3: hoards them and then just like mum, can we go
- 14:19Speaker 3: and get a gelata? I'm like, yeah, absolutely, it's fantastic.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I just give their kids ten bucks. It's a great system.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Love the country. Big weekend for one of your colleagues,
- 14:38Speaker 3: ce Us. Yes, I saw last night. I'm a celebrity
- 14:42Speaker 3: new queen and it's conchetta.
- 14:45Speaker 2: So good, so.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Well, deserved. Look, I think when I won celebrity in
- 14:51Speaker 3: my like you go, you leave, you leave the jungle,
- 14:53Speaker 3: and you walk out, and you are very surprised by
- 14:56Speaker 3: the fact that there is a whole city of like
- 14:58Speaker 3: three thousand people basically in a car park about a
- 15:01Speaker 3: kilometer away. Really amazing, Yeah, it's amazing, right, So where
- 15:05Speaker 3: all the editing and the production and everything happens. It's phenomenal.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Oh, I see, sorry, it's it's not that you're that
- 15:10Speaker 1: close to an actual city.
- 15:12Speaker 3: This is no production city, right, and it's basically in
- 15:16Speaker 3: this in this huge stand over there. No, well they
- 15:20Speaker 3: did have a like a mess hall. But anyway, so
- 15:24Speaker 3: you get out there and your head swimming going. I
- 15:27Speaker 3: had no idea that all these people were a kilometer away.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I really didn't think we're in the jungle with nothing
- 15:31Speaker 3: for a month. Anyway, the producer sort of pulls you
- 15:34Speaker 3: in and has a conversation with you, and he said
- 15:35Speaker 3: to me, you got more votes than anyone else in
- 15:38Speaker 3: the history of this game, any winner, and he but
- 15:40Speaker 3: it wasn't you, it was netball or the netball has
- 15:43Speaker 3: got around you. And I'm like, yep, that'll do me fine.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Thank you all I cared about was that I just
- 15:48Speaker 3: got one hundred thousand bucks for Share the Dignity, and
- 15:51Speaker 3: I reckon Conchetta might have been the same. You put
- 15:54Speaker 3: the call out, Carolyn for no dribblers to vote for
- 15:57Speaker 3: or for dribblers to vote for Conchetta, and she won.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I think there's a cause of relationship there, do you
- 16:03Speaker 3: know what?
- 16:03Speaker 2: I was watching carefully though, because remember we spoke about
- 16:05Speaker 2: how they'd filmed three separate endings because it was done
- 16:08Speaker 2: a long. I was watching really closely to see if
- 16:11Speaker 2: you could pick up and it didn't look as legit
- 16:15Speaker 2: because they all had to film us. Oh my god,
- 16:17Speaker 2: I won, didn't they? So I was watching to see
- 16:19Speaker 2: if you could tell it wasn't quite real. But then
- 16:22Speaker 2: the close up of Julia and Robert at the end
- 16:24Speaker 2: when they announced the winner, because obviously they had to
- 16:27Speaker 2: be in studios somewhere with the backdrop that was very
- 16:31Speaker 2: similar because they went in Africa. Obviously when they announced
- 16:33Speaker 2: the winner, would they Oh no, they would have clicked
- 16:35Speaker 2: that up.
- 16:38Speaker 1: They filmed all three of them over there at the time,
- 16:40Speaker 1: didn't they.
- 16:42Speaker 2: So because I noticed it was a really tight shot
- 16:44Speaker 2: at the end, I was laughing my head off, but
- 16:46Speaker 2: they were at the pub. I noticed they did across
- 16:49Speaker 2: to them just before with the ten show The.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Courage on Pub maybe or something. Yeah, no, there was
- 16:55Speaker 1: a Blue Mountain so.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I had George Colin Barrus's restaurant.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, had something. Well he organized it, so I don't
- 17:02Speaker 1: know whether he organized that, whether he owns the pub
- 17:05Speaker 1: or whatever. But yes, I was just listening to Conchetto
- 17:07Speaker 1: this morning because she she did radio this morning and
- 17:10Speaker 1: it's like I've had two hours sleep. Oh, fairly broken,
- 17:14Speaker 1: but yeah, she's a delight and Full Stop Australia. The
- 17:16Speaker 1: organization she was supporting provides support to mostly women, but
- 17:21Speaker 1: anybody getting out of a situation with domestic violence. And
- 17:24Speaker 1: she's been really open and sharing her family's story that
- 17:28Speaker 1: an organization very similar to Full Stop helped her mother
- 17:32Speaker 1: and her sister get out of a get out of
- 17:34Speaker 1: a situation, and it's just it's so lovely to see.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You know, she's got such a connection to that charity
- 17:41Speaker 1: and the work that they do. She's been running comedy
- 17:44Speaker 1: fundraisers for them for years and I can tell you
- 17:47Speaker 1: Concerto Cristo is every bit in real life, the cheerful,
- 17:51Speaker 1: positive ray of sunshine that she comes across on to you.
- 17:54Speaker 1: But she's just a delight. I'm so I'm thrilled.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Yeah she is. And I listened to this morning. I
- 18:00Speaker 3: was listening to Triple J because I'm cool, Yeah you are.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And you know what's cool? How we know you're cool
- 18:06Speaker 1: when you say you're cool, because it wouldn't do you
- 18:11Speaker 1: would I'm the cool mom, Amy Pohler and mean girls.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a whole other story. But they interviewed the
- 18:20Speaker 3: ce So, the CEO of Full Stop came in this
- 18:23Speaker 3: morning to the Triple J studios and they interviewed her,
- 18:26Speaker 3: and Conchetta was really emotional, but the CEO was amazing
- 18:31Speaker 3: and this is sort of what I know, like reality
- 18:34Speaker 3: TV gets pooper to be, but it actually is quite
- 18:36Speaker 3: meaningful when you're paying for a charity that means something
- 18:38Speaker 3: for you. So, you know, Conchetta was sort of talking
- 18:41Speaker 3: about her experience and then they asked to CEO what
- 18:44Speaker 3: it meant for full Stop and she said, one hundred
- 18:47Speaker 3: thousand dollars gives you thousands of counseling sessions. So when
- 18:53Speaker 3: someone rings twenty four to seven, they've got some that
- 18:55Speaker 3: can afford to have people who are answering the phones,
- 18:57Speaker 3: and you sort of don't like sometimes you hear one
- 19:01Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars to a charity of your choice, But
- 19:04Speaker 3: for something like that, it's so so meaningful. And when
- 19:08Speaker 3: after I won Celebrity Share, the Dignity put in a
- 19:12Speaker 3: Dignity vending machine at some flood pods fifteen minutes from
- 19:16Speaker 3: my house, so people living in a pod community, and
- 19:20Speaker 3: they they ranged me and they said, you get to
- 19:23Speaker 3: name it. And I thought it was my daughter's fault
- 19:27Speaker 3: that I went into the jungle so that it.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Would have been no dribbles, it would have been perfect.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Do I get to do one more it? Or being
- 19:39Speaker 3: the no dripple pod?
- 19:42Speaker 2: Sorry what I cut you off?
- 19:43Speaker 1: Then what did you name it?
- 19:45Speaker 3: Well, given that my daughter talked me into, it's actually
- 19:47Speaker 3: called the Evelyn.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Dignity ve one machine.
- 19:51Speaker 3: So yeah, but it was lovely hearing Conchetta this morning
- 19:55Speaker 3: just talk quite emotionally about the fact that because of
- 19:57Speaker 3: she's got in the one and stayed the distance and
- 20:00Speaker 3: won this one hundred thousand dollars, so many more families
- 20:03Speaker 3: like hers will have access to a service like this.
- 20:06Speaker 3: So yeah, it was fabulous. So I just wanted to
- 20:08Speaker 3: say congratulations to Chenna and it's great to see people
- 20:11Speaker 3: like her showcasing the work of a charity like full stop.
- 20:15Speaker 1: And look at the Queens supporting the queens, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I love it. The British Royal family's in a lot
- 20:20Speaker 1: of trouble, but we are getting fabulous queens out of Australia.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Did you see what happened at the Louver? No, it's
- 20:26Speaker 2: so selectivist. When in there and they snuck a photo,
- 20:29Speaker 2: you know, the shot of Andrew in the back of
- 20:31Speaker 2: the path. They put it on the wall like a
- 20:33Speaker 2: piece of art and underneath I can't remember what the
- 20:36Speaker 2: description said, but it was apparently up for fifteen minutes
- 20:39Speaker 2: in the louver before staff were a little and it
- 20:41Speaker 2: came to take him down.
- 20:43Speaker 1: That's so funny. I really think the Louver might need
- 20:46Speaker 1: to look at their security. You guys, come on this
- 20:48Speaker 1: couple of things in a row. I did see a
- 20:51Speaker 1: thing on the internet and it's a one of those
- 20:54Speaker 1: commemorative plates that you could buy. I don't know where
- 20:56Speaker 1: you buy them from. They used to be on the
- 20:58Speaker 1: back of magazines and things, but with Andrew face in
- 21:00Speaker 1: the middle. A royal family dear all right, Well, let's
- 21:19Speaker 1: talk about some netball, because the rubber or whatever it
- 21:22Speaker 1: is on the bottom of the shoes is really hitting
- 21:24Speaker 1: the road or whatever the court is made out of. Nowadays,
- 21:26Speaker 1: the soles of the shoes are hitting the courts. We
- 21:29Speaker 1: have had some really interesting preseason action over the weekend,
- 21:32Speaker 1: and fortunately, the very wonderful, the very delightful Daryl Milton
- 21:37Speaker 1: has done some work with his stats machine. They're no
- 21:41Speaker 1: dribble Statisians machine. So I had done some sums, but
- 21:45Speaker 1: fortunately Darryl did, as he always does, did a better
- 21:49Speaker 1: job of it. But anyway, so there are preseason games.
- 21:52Speaker 1: This isn't a comprehensive one, but I'll just quickly go
- 21:55Speaker 1: if you're not aware, Lightning beat Giants, MAVs beat Giants,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Lightning beat five Birds, Fever beat Swifts, Vixen's beat Fever,
- 22:03Speaker 1: MAVs beat Fever, Thunderbirds beat Vixen's, Thunderbirds beat Swifts. Now,
- 22:08Speaker 1: just on that last two things. Thunderbirds sixty four, Vixen's
- 22:11Speaker 1: fifty nine, Thunderbirds sixty four, Swifts fifty nine. That's very interesting.
- 22:17Speaker 1: But so what this means Darryl has assembled the and
- 22:21Speaker 1: this is all on the notable Facebook group if you're
- 22:23Speaker 1: interested in looking at it. He's done a bit of
- 22:25Speaker 1: a pre season ladder here and his rankings are Lightning, Mavericks, Thunderbirds,
- 22:32Speaker 1: Vixen's Firebirds, Swifts, Fever, Giants. Now that's all very interesting.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Obviously last year's Grand finalists one is in fourth and
- 22:45Speaker 2: one is in seventh.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Well, last year's Grand the Grand final winners, you'll remember,
- 22:50Speaker 1: came into the finals in fourth position, so yeah, so.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Interesting on their Swift's no wins yep, and Giants snow wins,
- 22:59Speaker 2: Giants no wins.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah. So and look, I don't know.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I think Giants have one win? Am I right?
- 23:05Speaker 2: I'm around According to recent YEAES season's oh okay, yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 2: so Daryl's got here, four games for the Giants with
- 23:12Speaker 2: one win.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Now did Giants play five birds a while ago before
- 23:16Speaker 1: this weekend? So I'm not quite sure what that is,
- 23:19Speaker 1: but yeah, according to this, the only team that didn't
- 23:23Speaker 1: win a game at all in the preseason was Swifts.
- 23:25Speaker 1: They played two, lost two, and a lot of others
- 23:27Speaker 1: have played three. So obviously it's very fraud because they've
- 23:30Speaker 1: not all played one another, and they've not all played
- 23:32Speaker 1: the equal number of games.
- 23:34Speaker 2: And players be on limited loads all of yeah, stuff,
- 23:38Speaker 2: very TGC.
- 23:39Speaker 1: But you know it's looking good for you guys, Adelaide,
- 23:43Speaker 1: but you know look good for you last year too,
- 23:45Speaker 1: So you know, I just it's it's it's interesting stuff.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But I think at this year, at this time of
- 23:51Speaker 1: the year, what are they trying to do? Just get
- 23:52Speaker 1: the players to know one another on court, to test
- 23:55Speaker 1: each other in the way that they can't in a
- 23:57Speaker 1: training situation. How much stock do we put in the
- 24:01Speaker 1: results of these games?
- 24:03Speaker 2: So can you got to take a bit like lightning
- 24:05Speaker 2: for instance. They've obviously got a couple of Aussie players
- 24:09Speaker 2: and big guns Courtney Bruce important to them, Lizzie Watson.
- 24:12Speaker 2: They wouldn't I don't know if they've played they play
- 24:15Speaker 2: at all.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Courtney I think was on court, yeah, okay, and Liz
- 24:19Speaker 1: Watson was definitely on court.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but it'd be super limited time off the back
- 24:23Speaker 2: of what they've been doing, I would imagine. But this
- 24:25Speaker 2: is this the Daniel Wallam effect as well. Don't forget
- 24:28Speaker 2: she's had a preseason with them now and the MAVs
- 24:32Speaker 2: very interesting that they've had two solid wins as well.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Riley Batchel doors there playing along Shimona Nelson, Like, there's
- 24:40Speaker 2: some really good combos I think that have probably had
- 24:42Speaker 2: a preseason now under their belt. We're starting to see
- 24:45Speaker 2: them out on court and injecting themselves in some of this.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I reckon, we can take a bit from this, We
- 24:51Speaker 2: really can. I think it's going to be I mean,
- 24:53Speaker 2: every year we say how much more even the comp is?
- 24:57Speaker 2: If you had to pick a top four right now,
- 24:59Speaker 2: what would you do? I know we did this at
- 25:01Speaker 2: the end of last year, but that's before we saw
- 25:03Speaker 2: any sort of preseason games.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, okay, and I might disagree with you.
- 25:09Speaker 3: I feel like if you are if you're Vixen's, you've
- 25:13Speaker 3: got to really settled line, so you just run like
- 25:17Speaker 3: you play around with it. I feel like the Giants
- 25:19Speaker 3: might be sort of searching for their best line. But
- 25:22Speaker 3: if you haven't won any games, it's probably a little
- 25:24Speaker 3: bit of a worry. But for the Swifts, they've lost too.
- 25:26Speaker 3: They've only played two. They haven't played a huge amount.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I reckon when I mean, it was a long time ago,
- 25:34Speaker 3: but you know, during preseason you don't want to give
- 25:36Speaker 3: too much away, And I reckon the coaches will be
- 25:39Speaker 3: using these games to see, Okay, who can I pull
- 25:43Speaker 3: off the bench to put up? So you run them
- 25:45Speaker 3: and I suspect they've got their training partners in as
- 25:47Speaker 3: well to say, okay, if we get an injury, who's
- 25:49Speaker 3: going to stand up? So you're looking probably at that
- 25:51Speaker 3: next level down who's going to stand up? Who do
- 25:54Speaker 3: I bring on? Because you want to have that idea
- 25:56Speaker 3: before the season starts, because if you cop an injury
- 25:59Speaker 3: in round five, you don't have time to run somebody
- 26:02Speaker 3: in and go, oh, what do you think you're going
- 26:03Speaker 3: to be?
- 26:03Speaker 2: Like?
- 26:03Speaker 3: Right, give them them a call, get them in. You
- 26:06Speaker 3: know you're in the ten. So I don't know. I
- 26:10Speaker 3: wouldn't get too k away, but I will say I agree.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I reckon Mavericks are going to be good this year.
- 26:15Speaker 3: You look at they've got strength all the way down
- 26:16Speaker 3: the court. I think they're going to be a really
- 26:18Speaker 3: tough team to meet.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I also feel like with the Vixens, I totally get
- 26:21Speaker 2: your point, but it's a side that hasn't changed where
- 26:23Speaker 2: I feel like the others have bolstered. So they they're
- 26:27Speaker 2: still going to be good, but I feel like the
- 26:28Speaker 2: comp may have evened out still more, which is very
- 26:34Speaker 2: exciting slush stressful for us.
- 26:36Speaker 3: So do you think Catherine the other teams have have
- 26:39Speaker 3: moved up or do you think that Vixens and Fever
- 26:41Speaker 3: have come back.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I don't think the Fever have moved at all. I
- 26:45Speaker 2: feel like they're they're moved about Janelle. Oh No, they've
- 26:50Speaker 2: moved sorry without Janie. Although they've picked up Romelda, Rake
- 26:53Speaker 2: and George. It's not a slouch. But I do feel
- 26:55Speaker 2: like the other sides have lifted.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Fever so not got Sunday. So they've got Ruth back.
- 27:03Speaker 1: They have Ruth back. That's good. Yeah, yeah, but it
- 27:07Speaker 1: is interesting. But Thunderbirds Shamira hasn't taken the court yet.
- 27:10Speaker 1: She's not back. So, but you know, what do you
- 27:13Speaker 1: do when you have Shamiri? What do you do with
- 27:14Speaker 1: Latanna who is so good like you? Do you and
- 27:18Speaker 1: has really breve? Can they Liz, can Shimira and Lataangna
- 27:22Speaker 1: run the defensive circle together? Do you think would you
- 27:24Speaker 1: put them on together?
- 27:26Speaker 3: Absolutely? But I'd also put Matilda Garrett in there too,
- 27:29Speaker 3: So you know, I think the nature of the game now,
- 27:32Speaker 3: with you know, rolling subs and that sort of stuff,
- 27:34Speaker 3: it doesn't the concept of a starting seven or a
- 27:38Speaker 3: seven that's going to last a whole fifteen minutes is shifting.
- 27:40Speaker 3: So I think that with the Thunderbirds, they've got the
- 27:43Speaker 3: ability to look at horses for courses and the ability
- 27:45Speaker 3: to make changes if something's not working or they need
- 27:48Speaker 3: a specific something specific done, And it might take Shamira
- 27:51Speaker 3: a little while to sort of, you know, get a
- 27:53Speaker 3: touch back after a season out. So I just think
- 27:57Speaker 3: you can run them both. You can run Matilda.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Or Latana Latonia at wing defense, so you've got you've
- 28:06Speaker 4: got so many options, right, So I just think you
- 28:10Speaker 4: really do have to remove the idea that Okay, who's
- 28:13Speaker 4: who's your top defenders, Well, who's the defenders that you
- 28:15Speaker 4: need at any given moment for courses?
- 28:18Speaker 1: We're going to have to all go where you guys won't,
- 28:21Speaker 1: but the rest of us are going to have to
- 28:23Speaker 1: go really hard and fast when Grand Final tickets go
- 28:25Speaker 1: on sale. Because we got a lot of key we
- 28:29Speaker 1: netball fans taking a lot of interest in this camp
- 28:31Speaker 1: this year that they haven't in the past because their
- 28:34Speaker 1: players are in. It's a smaller venue because Disney not
- 28:39Speaker 1: happy with you. So we are where at John Caine Arena,
- 28:42Speaker 1: not not rod Laver Arena. I for one am very
- 28:45Speaker 1: happy to know that it is in Melbourne. Melbourne did
- 28:47Speaker 1: a fantastic job last year. The day of the Grand Final,
- 28:50Speaker 1: it was the full front page of the Herald Sun.
- 28:53Speaker 1: They had the flags up everywhere. It's the venue is
- 28:55Speaker 1: walkable from the CBD, so walking around for the days
- 28:59Speaker 1: before it, people in netball gear. It represented really well.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I know there's people still upset that that the top
- 29:07Speaker 1: team doesn't get to host the Grand Final, but there's
- 29:09Speaker 1: no time to run a world class events.
- 29:12Speaker 2: They've got over that. We're five years into it now,
- 29:16Speaker 2: like the ship of sailing, people get team host a
- 29:20Speaker 2: grand final.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Move from that, yeah, well you can't. Your your team
- 29:25Speaker 1: could host the Grand Final if your government is willing
- 29:29Speaker 1: to to to give the support to the to the comps.
- 29:32Speaker 3: So yeah, and I think it's not just the game now,
- 29:35Speaker 3: it's all the associated hospitality and entertainment that goes around.
- 29:39Speaker 3: And if you've got a year to plan, you can
- 29:41Speaker 3: really get the precinct pupping last year it was and
- 29:44Speaker 3: watch beforehand like it's so good because if you've got
- 29:47Speaker 3: two weeks to plan, that just can't happen. You just
- 29:49Speaker 3: have a netball game and that's it. So I think
- 29:52Speaker 3: you're right, Catherine, we're well past that point.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, if we had two weeks to plan,
- 29:56Speaker 1: we certainly wouldn't be having a noticeable Grand Finally function.
- 30:00Speaker 1: But we're having no Dribble Grand Finally function. Those tickets,
- 30:04Speaker 1: none of that will go on sale until after the
- 30:06Speaker 1: Grand Final tickets have gone on sale. So you can
- 30:08Speaker 1: if you get your Grand Final tickets and you know
- 30:10Speaker 1: you're going to Melbourne, then you can buy tickets to
- 30:13Speaker 1: our event. You don't have to sort of think, well
- 30:15Speaker 1: do I go early on that one?
- 30:16Speaker 2: So unless you just want to come, unless you.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Just want to come and hang because it's so super fun.
- 30:22Speaker 1: We we're not going to a smaller venue. We will
- 30:26Speaker 1: we will have at least the same number, but we're
- 30:27Speaker 1: not going to go super big either, because we want
- 30:30Speaker 1: to keep it. I want to keep it intimate and
- 30:31Speaker 1: we love to chat with you all.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Well, I was going to say, tell the truth, it's
- 30:34Speaker 2: actually not Disney a road labor.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It's no dribble on ice. Yeah, jeez, I'd love to
- 30:43Speaker 1: see you too on ice skates. I'll tell you what
- 30:46Speaker 1: I think I might win.
- 30:46Speaker 2: That you would you would win lacing them up, let
- 30:50Speaker 2: alone getting on the ice. A couple of baby drives
- 30:54Speaker 2: out there.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Put a drink in their hands. But just before we
- 30:59Speaker 1: wrapped netball segment, our tipping comp goes live this Friday.
- 31:03Speaker 1: All of the information will be on the socials starting
- 31:06Speaker 1: from about Wednesday. You can't register before then. Some people
- 31:11Speaker 1: have got in because yes, on the weekend or on Friday.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I did have a bit of a I took the
- 31:17Speaker 1: No Dribble website offline for two hours and I'd lost
- 31:20Speaker 1: it and there was a lot of swearing, a lot
- 31:22Speaker 1: of sweat. But two people have managed to pay for
- 31:25Speaker 1: the camp even though it's not yet open. So if
- 31:27Speaker 1: you it's not open till Friday, okay, so don't panic,
- 31:31Speaker 1: but you have you know, once it's open, it's open,
- 31:34Speaker 1: but you want to get in on that first day.
- 31:36Speaker 1: We will open at eight am Eastern Daylight Savings time
- 31:41Speaker 1: on Friday, and you've got until midnight Perth time on
- 31:45Speaker 1: that same day to enter to go into the draw
- 31:48Speaker 1: to win the signed Fever West Coast Fever dress signed
- 31:52Speaker 1: by the Grand Finals. Exciting. Okay, we're not doing an
- 32:09Speaker 1: ask to goat this week because we've promised her. Part
- 32:12Speaker 1: of her contract is that we only ask her questions
- 32:15Speaker 1: every second week, so she has time to recover and relax.
- 32:19Speaker 1: But we do have a very fun segment that is
- 32:22Speaker 1: called Things that Make You Go? And Catherine, have you
- 32:36Speaker 1: had some things that make you go?
- 32:38Speaker 2: Hmmm? Yes, one in particular that's been driving me batty
- 32:48Speaker 2: for quite some time, and I think it's time we
- 32:51Speaker 2: talk about it.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Good.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Why why when you get a packet of chips or
- 32:56Speaker 2: a packet of anything, is there a tear here instead
- 33:00Speaker 2: of being able to open it? Old school drives me batty.
- 33:04Speaker 2: So you know how there's a tear down the side? Now,
- 33:07Speaker 2: so your chips are open down the side and just
- 33:10Speaker 2: crap just goes places. I know you can turn it over.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Why can't you just like in the olden days, pull
- 33:16Speaker 2: the sides of it and it opens. What has gone
- 33:21Speaker 2: on in the world? So there's a standard packet of chip.
- 33:25Speaker 2: So any packet these days, see I'm getting rolled up.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Any packet these days you will find has got a
- 33:35Speaker 2: freaking tear bit instead of being able to open it
- 33:38Speaker 2: at the top. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
- 33:41Speaker 2: What was wrong with opening a packet from the top
- 33:44Speaker 2: by the sides.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Wow. So darryl ask Ai what it is a point
- 33:49Speaker 1: of how to dribble, And I think that it's dealing
- 33:53Speaker 1: with the big issues, things that make you go God.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I'm not as hmm on this one as you are.
- 34:00Speaker 1: I respect your emotion and your right to be upset
- 34:06Speaker 1: about it. I just I'm not there, Liz, can you
- 34:11Speaker 1: handle why?
- 34:12Speaker 2: Just why?
- 34:14Speaker 3: Well, no, I'm not there because I tend to ignore
- 34:17Speaker 3: the tear down the side and just open it at
- 34:19Speaker 3: the top.
- 34:19Speaker 2: But sometimes you can't. They have super glued the bloody
- 34:22Speaker 2: top chup.
- 34:26Speaker 3: I do wish they would like somehow. Surely, with all
- 34:29Speaker 3: the technology we have, there's a way to make opening
- 34:31Speaker 3: chop with chops easier.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Yes, yes, let's just turn this to an opening stuff issue.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I will say so, when when I had my son,
- 34:41Speaker 1: someone in mother's group very smartly organized like a first
- 34:45Speaker 1: aid for baby's course, and we had this woman coming
- 34:48Speaker 1: in and she did like just a just a couple
- 34:50Speaker 1: of hours of you know, stuff that your kid can
- 34:53Speaker 1: die from around the house and how to respond to it.
- 34:56Speaker 1: It was very reassuring for all of us whose hormones
- 34:58Speaker 1: were raging. But she said that one of the things
- 35:02Speaker 1: she said is that if your kid vomits out of nowhere,
- 35:05Speaker 1: they've probably knocked their head and you haven't seen it.
- 35:07Speaker 1: But the other one was about chuppa chups, and she
- 35:09Speaker 1: said choking is a bit of an issue, so she'll
- 35:12Speaker 1: always when she unwraps the chupper chup, give it a
- 35:14Speaker 1: pull to see if the lollipop is properly fixed. But
- 35:18Speaker 1: then I think, well, what if in the act of
- 35:21Speaker 1: pulling it you dislodged it. So we just had a
- 35:25Speaker 1: chopper chup band for a few years.
- 35:27Speaker 2: We are doomed before.
- 35:29Speaker 1: You can't win, No, well, there's no winning as a parent.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I watched that show Mattie Proud recommended to us. I
- 35:34Speaker 1: think the first time. She was on No Dribble Summer
- 35:37Speaker 1: series and it was called All Her Fault with Sarah
- 35:39Speaker 1: Snook and it's like a eight part Have you seen it?
- 35:43Speaker 3: No, I keep seeing the shorts and good so good, and.
- 35:47Speaker 1: It's all that stuff about parents, mothers, particularly you know,
- 35:51Speaker 1: you can't ever get anything right without someone telling you
- 35:54Speaker 1: you're doing the job wrong. But it's a really good thriller. Yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 1: so well watched well, I think it was on Netflix.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I can't remember, but It took me over a year,
- 36:04Speaker 1: probably a year and a half, Maddie, but I have
- 36:06Speaker 1: taken your advice and it was great.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I'm going to watch that this week.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Then yeah, yeah, that's not even notiable recommends. I want
- 36:14Speaker 1: to just give some quick recommendations because the Adelaide Fringe
- 36:17Speaker 1: Festival is coming up over the next couple of weeks,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and as a comedian, I have some advice for the
- 36:22Speaker 1: people of Adelaide or visitors there too, such as myself.
- 36:25Speaker 1: For the first game shows that I think you should
- 36:28Speaker 1: go and see Gary Starr Classic Penguins is on from
- 36:33Speaker 1: the second to the twenty second of March and then
- 36:35Speaker 1: it goes to Melbourne. This is the most clever, hilarious,
- 36:42Speaker 1: interesting piece of theater slash comedy I have ever seen
- 36:47Speaker 1: its adults only there's nudity in it, but is it's
- 36:50Speaker 1: so good. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I have
- 36:52Speaker 1: been to see it twice. It is well worth watching,
- 36:55Speaker 1: So go and see that if you can, Gary Starr's
- 36:57Speaker 1: Classic Penguins, and I would also go and see Fergus
- 37:00Speaker 1: neil Boy and Sashi Pereira's Pear Tree. So those would
- 37:05Speaker 1: be my recommendations for the Adelaide Fringe Festival Comedians to
- 37:09Speaker 1: go and see, and.
- 37:10Speaker 2: So you have just confirmed this is now back to
- 37:13Speaker 2: no dribble recommends.
- 37:15Speaker 1: As opposed to no dribble says, actually, we don't watch
- 37:18Speaker 1: that movie. Yeah. Patrick Swayze wasn't very good in The Tricks, right,
- 37:23Speaker 1: only when he's had too much to drink a classic.
- 37:26Speaker 3: He was created a.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Stay Gold pony girl, Stay Gold.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Well.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Well here with the end of our maybe ninety third episode,
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's exciting. We might have another Centurion coming up before
- 37:46Speaker 1: Courtney Bruce. There might be no dribble getting a centurion.
- 37:51Speaker 1: What would you call it? Centurion ship, Centurian ship, Centurian ship.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Yeah, all who say alot her?
- 38:02Speaker 2: There's been plenty of board I mean boom tish.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Nice work.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Okay, well let's wrap up. Katherine. You have to go.
- 38:10Speaker 1: We're here early because you're at a conference today. Anything
- 38:12Speaker 1: else happening this week? Any tenth birthday parties do not.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Just the aftermath cleaning up party stuff. No, I'm good.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I've got a good week.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Are you're going to Adelaide for the
- 38:24Speaker 1: first game?
- 38:25Speaker 2: I am, and then I'm going to bris Vegas for
- 38:26Speaker 2: the next one. The next day.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Oh wow, okay, is that how we start?
- 38:30Speaker 2: Yes, it'll be a four o'clock alarm.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Oh okay, that's not good. I'll be sleeping at least.
- 38:37Speaker 1: What's on this week?
- 38:38Speaker 3: Look, just a lot of sports. So Saturday is our
- 38:42Speaker 3: first nitball carnival. Nipball up in Brisbane, so we're going
- 38:47Speaker 3: to the Underwood Carnival. So anyone who's going to that,
- 38:50Speaker 3: I'll see you there. I'll be following Balana around. So yeah.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Once the carnival season starts and Austin's got cricket and
- 38:58Speaker 3: basketball and all the things, it's like, right, well, I'll
- 39:00Speaker 3: put my head down and I'll come up for hour
- 39:02Speaker 3: on a Monday morning. But I won't be seeing anybody
- 39:04Speaker 3: for quite some time.
- 39:05Speaker 1: But you'll enjoy it.
- 39:06Speaker 2: But you love that.
- 39:07Speaker 3: I love it.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I love it.
- 39:09Speaker 1: I've been hoping I love it well with my son
- 39:12Speaker 1: at boarding school until this morning when they backed out
- 39:15Speaker 1: of the driveway for Pete to run him back to school,
- 39:17Speaker 1: and it's like I'm crying again. It's like, what's going on?
- 39:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So and had some toast.
- 39:22Speaker 2: And that you might and the butter toasted it for you.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Generally, you know, if you if you're having an unexpected
- 39:28Speaker 1: emotional reaction. You're often either thirsty or hungry. And if
- 39:32Speaker 1: you're then still having the emotional reaction, well then it's
- 39:34Speaker 1: legit or man.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Then you know who knows, and your friends should bring
- 39:40Speaker 3: you baked goods.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I was literally thinking for sausage roll when you
- 39:44Speaker 2: were talking about a toast.
- 39:46Speaker 1: No, I can't. It's a Monday. I can't have a
- 39:47Speaker 1: sausage roll now. I just had one yesterday. Everything, everything
- 39:50Speaker 1: will go to shit if I start having sausage rolls
- 39:52Speaker 1: too often.
- 39:53Speaker 3: No, you can. Actually, when I was pregnant with Evelyn,
- 39:55Speaker 3: I used to. We used to live around the corner
- 39:57Speaker 3: from the Burke Street Bakery which is just in CD
- 40:00Speaker 3: and every day I had a sausage roll with a
- 40:04Speaker 3: chocolate croissant chaser.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Oh my god, does she now off the back of that?
- 40:08Speaker 2: Is she does she like them? Or is she? Oh, yeah,
- 40:11Speaker 2: sausage roll free. You created them.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Well, she's a sausage roll professional. Now she works in
- 40:17Speaker 1: a bankery. She's making it.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Yes, so that's just yes, she's following her destiny that
- 40:22Speaker 3: I started by eating a sausage roll every single day.
- 40:25Speaker 1: That's a beautiful story. So when she's a food blogger,
- 40:30Speaker 1: then she can that's her origin story. She can talk
- 40:32Speaker 1: about that her mother it is.
- 40:34Speaker 3: But I also had a craving for baked broccoli and
- 40:38Speaker 3: cauliflower with chili on it while I was pregnant with her,
- 40:41Speaker 3: and she really quite likes that as well. And her
- 40:43Speaker 3: father was a cauliflower farmer before I met him. So
- 40:47Speaker 3: I don't know. I think there's origin story in that. Look,
- 40:49Speaker 3: I know we're supposed to be getting to the end
- 40:51Speaker 3: of the show. This is just teasing for what might
- 40:53Speaker 3: come next week or what problems won't we tune in?
- 40:56Speaker 2: If we're talking about broccoli next next week? Go on,
- 41:01Speaker 2: don't tease people with that stuff.
- 41:03Speaker 1: The iHeart Network's going to say, what did you guys do?
- 41:05Speaker 1: We've had a massive spike in numbers. But on that,
- 41:11Speaker 1: please do share this podcast. Please join the Facebook group.
- 41:14Speaker 1: There are some questions to join the Facebook group, and
- 41:17Speaker 1: if you answer those questions, they're just to prove that
- 41:19Speaker 1: you're a grown up and that you're a real person
- 41:21Speaker 1: not a bot, and that you agree to act like
- 41:24Speaker 1: a decent person. So they're not hard questions. If you
- 41:26Speaker 1: answer them, your membership is automatically approved. If you don't
- 41:30Speaker 1: answer them. You have to wait until someone me goes
- 41:34Speaker 1: on and approves your comment or your membership. So just
- 41:37Speaker 1: answer the questions. It's just it's just saying that you'll
- 41:40Speaker 1: you'll be nice and that's not that's not hard. So yeah,
- 41:44Speaker 1: but please do. And we've got a new Instagram account.
- 41:47Speaker 1: It is no dot dribble dot official, so please follow
- 41:52Speaker 1: us on that Instagram account. We're going to have to
- 41:54Speaker 1: close the other one down. And many thanks to all
- 41:57Speaker 1: the dribblers who dropped us a note to say that
- 41:59Speaker 1: the really understand why we have to change because we've
- 42:03Speaker 1: just set it up wrongly in the first place and
- 42:05Speaker 1: it got set up attached to Catherine's account, but people
- 42:08Speaker 1: understand that. Oh one, very very very last thing. There's
- 42:12Speaker 1: a podcast i'd like to recommend. Sarah Ganden, who was
- 42:16Speaker 1: the England team manager at the Networ World Cup in
- 42:18Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, and her son Fergus, who is nine, have
- 42:21Speaker 1: a podcast called Centa Past Chat. It's like nine ten
- 42:24Speaker 1: minutes long. It's super cute and Fergus loves to see
- 42:27Speaker 1: where the listeners come from around the world, so I've listened,
- 42:29Speaker 1: so he should have Australia as a new listen. But
- 42:32Speaker 1: let's all get behind this, and particularly if you're a
- 42:34Speaker 1: dribbler not from Australia, and you can give him a
- 42:36Speaker 1: representation of listeners from a different country and give him
- 42:39Speaker 1: a little boost. This young fellow who's making some lovely,
- 42:43Speaker 1: charming netball content. We're loving it.
- 42:45Speaker 2: What about jewel in Scotland?
- 42:46Speaker 1: Well, I think that they're maybe in scott accent has
- 42:51Speaker 1: not improved, stand harness, I think it might be in Scotland.
- 42:56Speaker 1: But Julie, if you can understand what's insane, oh she
- 43:01Speaker 1: understands me. Alright, Dribblers, thanks very much for joining us.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Have a great week.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Bye bye bye bye bye
