- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Conspiracy the Show with your hosts Adam Todd
- 0:16Speaker 1: Brown and Connor mcspatten. Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy Shit.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I haven't been on this. I don't know what you say.
- 0:39Speaker 1: You've never done any episodes of this because Connor mcspadden has.
- 0:42Speaker 1: The last I heard, a black van pulled up. Connor
- 0:46Speaker 1: was tossed in back and he hasn't been seen since.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So look forward to the episode about what happened to
- 0:54Speaker 1: Connor mcspadden. It's real rough, being kidnapped and forced to write,
- 1:00Speaker 1: used to write for Roast Battle and the Comedy Central roast.
- 1:02Speaker 2: To Bruce willis you know who's not writing for Roast Battle?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Me?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Here ready for unpupp You know who else isn't? Me?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Also here ready for umpups.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So Connor will probably be back at some point I
- 1:14Speaker 1: don't know, but until then we have guests galore. Uh
- 1:20Speaker 1: for the next four weeks, we have lots of guests.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Kicking things off with chest I almost said chest wild
- 1:27Speaker 1: because I was saying guests so much.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oh that's how are you chat?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Oh okay, it's a little warm, but I'm excited to
- 1:34Speaker 3: be potting with you again. I'm sorry, I didn't make
- 1:38Speaker 3: the Hollywood Hotel show.
- 1:39Speaker 2: It was such a fun show.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we shockingly a crowd of mostly walk ins from
- 1:46Speaker 1: the Hollywood Hotel stayed for most of the show, even
- 1:50Speaker 1: through the music.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And there was a woman giving me the stink.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Eye over that music because she was sitting right next
- 1:56Speaker 1: to the speaker and I was right across from her,
- 2:00Speaker 1: and I think she was trying to have a shared
- 2:03Speaker 1: fuck this moment with me, and I was like, no,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'm into this. Why don't you get out of here, jerk? Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: so it worked out.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah, the Hollywood Hotel show was fun.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I like an idiot chose to go work a sold
- 2:16Speaker 3: out comedy club, two hundred people packed. Is their eleventh
- 2:19Speaker 3: year anniversary show, and they're like, we're gonna bring ten
- 2:22Speaker 3: hend winers. They'll do short sets. How the fuck I'm
- 2:24Speaker 3: on that bill, I don't know, but I was real
- 2:26Speaker 3: excited because it's gonna get a tape for this TV
- 2:28Speaker 3: thing I'm spending for hot crowd. And then the comic
- 2:32Speaker 3: that goes up before me, I've never heard of him.
- 2:34Speaker 3: He's like traveling through I shit, you not a French pirate.
- 2:39Speaker 3: So imagine somebody dressed as a pirate wearing a beret
- 2:43Speaker 3: and an eyepatch. Okay, who plays accordion while firing off
- 2:48Speaker 3: one liners?
- 2:49Speaker 2: And let me tell you.
- 2:52Speaker 3: If you want a hard act to follow, I won't
- 2:56Speaker 3: comment on the clear lack of respect I have for
- 2:59Speaker 3: the amount of is used in that act.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Right, the writing wasn't strong.
- 3:05Speaker 3: But there's something with people about like this is different
- 3:09Speaker 3: he ended up on. I got a clap that they
- 3:12Speaker 3: were just not ready for actual jokes, and man did
- 3:15Speaker 3: I flounder?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah, following those one liner types is difficult. Sometimes one
- 3:20Speaker 1: liner isn't the difficult part, it's the well accordion. I
- 3:23Speaker 1: will not an accordion pirate like any.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Of those things.
- 3:28Speaker 3: If you're like, I had to follow guy with a
- 3:29Speaker 3: high iPad, you'd be like, okay, I had to follow
- 3:30Speaker 3: a guy with an accordion.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Okay, I had to follow I had to follow a
- 3:33Speaker 2: French pirate with an eye passion, an accordion. Man, I
- 3:36Speaker 2: was not, so I didn't.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I should have come down and done a set afterwards
- 3:40Speaker 3: to redeem myself.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And I'm just like, I don't. I don't want to
- 3:43Speaker 2: be anything comedy for the rest of the night. I understand.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I want to find a fat burger and eat a
- 3:50Speaker 2: fat burger.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Two in the morning. Got the fat burger. It's a
- 3:54Speaker 1: nice cube reference. How do you feel about conspiracy theories
- 3:57Speaker 1: since you've never done this show.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I mean, there's a time and a place that they're
- 4:03Speaker 3: not all crazy, they're not all insane, but also a
- 4:05Speaker 3: lot of them are insane. Like anything tied to Alex
- 4:08Speaker 3: Jones go fuck yourself.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I have an Alex Jones conspiracy theory, which
- 4:14Speaker 1: is that Alex Jones is actually connected to the US
- 4:17Speaker 1: government and just spreads misinformation to discredit people who might
- 4:22Speaker 1: actually uncover actual information that the world would want to hear.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Which I played right into that because I said, anything
- 4:29Speaker 3: this guy says is bullshit. So if somebody actually did
- 4:31Speaker 3: have a credible conspiracy theory, now Jones was pushing it hard,
- 4:34Speaker 3: I'd be like, look at his track record.
- 4:36Speaker 2: No thanks, Yeah, exactly.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Are there any conspiracies in particular that you have looked
- 4:42Speaker 1: into and believe.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I don't know about believe, but I certainly do get
- 4:47Speaker 3: sucked into the nine to eleven stuff, as the nine
- 4:50Speaker 3: to eleven boards blinking.
- 4:51Speaker 2: At me, Ah, shout out to the nine to eleven board.
- 4:54Speaker 3: It's not that I definitively think it was a full conspiracy,
- 4:58Speaker 3: just the amount of arguments and different angles people take
- 5:02Speaker 3: in different videos that are out there, like there are
- 5:04Speaker 3: seemingly compelling arguments.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And see that actually ties in pretty well to my
- 5:10Speaker 1: opinion on Alex Jones, because I do believe there's a
- 5:13Speaker 1: conspiracy and cover up regarding nine to eleven, and people
- 5:18Speaker 1: like Alex Jones push the really crazy version where it
- 5:22Speaker 1: was like Bush planned it and it was an inside job.
- 5:26Speaker 1: What I think it was with Saudi Arabia, most of
- 5:29Speaker 1: the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. There was for a
- 5:33Speaker 1: long time this like rumor or legend that a Saudi
- 5:38Speaker 1: intelligence agent came to the United States and met with
- 5:41Speaker 1: some of the hijackers before nine to eleven. And there
- 5:44Speaker 1: were all these pages of the nine to eleven report
- 5:47Speaker 1: that were classified for years and years and years, and
- 5:50Speaker 1: they finally declassified them. And sure enough that Saudi intelligence
- 5:55Speaker 1: officer did come to the United States and he did
- 5:58Speaker 1: meet with some of the highijackers before nine to eleven.
- 6:01Speaker 1: But Saudi Arabia is such an ally to us, like
- 6:05Speaker 1: the families of nine to eleven victims wanted to sue
- 6:09Speaker 1: the Saudi government and fucking Obama blocked them from being
- 6:13Speaker 1: able to do it. So I think people like Alex
- 6:17Speaker 1: Jones spread like loose change type shit, which is the
- 6:21Speaker 1: big nine to eleven documentary, to the benefit of the
- 6:25Speaker 1: US government because it keeps us because otherwise we'd all
- 6:28Speaker 1: probably really be hitting on that Saudi Arabia thing and
- 6:31Speaker 1: be like, why the fuck did we go to Iraq
- 6:33Speaker 1: and Afghanistan when most of the hijackers were Saudi's. Yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 1: like what prompted that?
- 6:41Speaker 3: Just needed to get people to swing emotionally enough to
- 6:44Speaker 3: get behind it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But now if you just even mentioned that you have
- 6:48Speaker 1: any doubts about the official explanation of nine to eleven,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you're just written off as a crazy person. So in
- 6:54Speaker 1: that way, someone like Alex Jones is really effective.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Now nine eleven people always get stuck on the twin
- 7:00Speaker 3: Tower off, not that they aren't significant bright it means,
- 7:02Speaker 3: but do you have any specific thoughts or beliefs surrounding
- 7:06Speaker 3: the plane that went down Pennsylvania or the Pentagon? Which
- 7:09Speaker 3: it always surprises me how much the Pentagon getting hit
- 7:13Speaker 3: by a plane supposedly is overlooked.
- 7:15Speaker 1: The Pentagon one is really weird. The Pentagon plane. There's
- 7:19Speaker 1: one witness to the plane hitting and that's it, right,
- 7:24Speaker 1: that's it. Well, no, there's people who saw the plane approaching,
- 7:29Speaker 1: but there's only somehow one guy who was in the
- 7:32Speaker 1: vicinity of the White House during rush hour traffic in Washington, DC.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And the thing is, his account of the direction the
- 7:40Speaker 1: plane's coming from differs from everyone else. Everyone else says
- 7:43Speaker 1: it was coming from a different way. And if you look,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you can find videos about this guy online. What he
- 7:50Speaker 1: says is that this plane knocked over a light pole
- 7:53Speaker 1: and that the light pole fell into the windshield of
- 7:56Speaker 1: his car. And if you look at his car, the
- 7:58Speaker 1: light pole is sticking through it. But there's no damage
- 8:02Speaker 1: to the hood of the car none, not a scratch
- 8:05Speaker 1: how and actually the pictures you just see the whole
- 8:09Speaker 1: you don't even see the light poles.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember, it's been a while since I watched this.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But there's also throughout like how would a plane possibly yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 3: like the angle at which it would.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Have to come down and clip all sorts of things.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the Pentagon, there's some weirdness around the Pentagon. I
- 8:23Speaker 1: think Flight ninety three was shot down, and I wish
- 8:25Speaker 1: they would just tell us because I'd be fine with it.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I mean, it makes sense, but it's what you're supposed
- 8:29Speaker 1: to do in those situations. But yeah, I guess it
- 8:32Speaker 1: makes sense to cover up what really happened and turn
- 8:35Speaker 1: it into a major motion picture.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I guess that's better.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's all of those things where it's
- 8:42Speaker 3: so stupid that it works, like where you just shove
- 8:46Speaker 3: something in people's face and you're like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 3: I don't believe that Andrew WK conspiracy.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Now I don't either, although the people working at that
- 8:54Speaker 1: club that night do say Andrew WK was acting very weird.
- 8:58Speaker 1: But people have Yeah, people have off nights. That doesn't
- 9:01Speaker 1: mean they're replaced by an impostor. Except Avril Levine, she's
- 9:05Speaker 1: probably been replaced.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we did that episode years ago back at
- 9:10Speaker 3: the old Cracked office about like right different child stars
- 9:14Speaker 3: that were basically like raped and thrown in ditches.
- 9:17Speaker 2: That sounds awful. That was Miley Cyrus. Yes, yeah, that's
- 9:21Speaker 2: the vivid example that are not vivid, but like.
- 9:23Speaker 1: The yeah we did that was like an example that
- 9:26Speaker 1: was basically a precursor to Conspiracy the show. That was
- 9:28Speaker 1: an episode of Unpopular Opinion that we talked about those
- 9:33Speaker 1: same disappearances and impostor type conspiracies as they relate to celebrities,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and that's go ahead.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I was just gonna say a lot of people. Probably
- 9:43Speaker 3: the biggest conspiracy that I have an issue with is
- 9:46Speaker 3: people that say, uh, Columbus is a nice city, Columbus, Ohio.
- 9:50Speaker 2: You're bringing that to this podcast nowhere, no one. Oh.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I don't understand the references chets making because I only
- 9:57Speaker 3: listened to Conspiracy the podcast. Well, sure you want to
- 10:00Speaker 3: hear us talk about Columbus, Ohio, what my issues are
- 10:05Speaker 3: with it, as well as Nazis and fuck them. Come
- 10:08Speaker 3: over to Good Luck America, Good Luck New Air Coode
- 10:10Speaker 3: every Monday.
- 10:11Speaker 2: They're free free is this free? This is?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Two episodes of this are free a month and then
- 10:15Speaker 1: there's two patreons all the time. You can come listen
- 10:18Speaker 1: to us talk politics, American news and politics because Me
- 10:22Speaker 1: and the Esteemed Quincy Johnson the second do an international
- 10:26Speaker 1: news and politics podcast also that you should check out
- 10:29Speaker 1: called What in the World But Me and Chat? Just recently,
- 10:33Speaker 1: we're only eleven episodes in.
- 10:35Speaker 2: To man only how many more to go? Fifty seven?
- 10:41Speaker 2: Would it be fifty eight? Fifty eight.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I don't know, it would definitely be fifty. But there's
- 10:47Speaker 1: gonna be a very funny thing that happens.
- 10:49Speaker 2: It'll be episode sixty.
- 10:52Speaker 3: You said it, you put it, I hinted at it,
- 10:55Speaker 3: and you said it. If that's not funny to either,
- 10:57Speaker 3: you don't need to get any reppers. That's just objective
- 11:00Speaker 3: good comedy. That's just good quality Colmed. But also, we
- 11:04Speaker 3: don't stand for Nazi shit on Good Luck America, Adam,
- 11:06Speaker 3: what do you frequently say about, Hey, if you don't
- 11:08Speaker 3: want to be compared to a.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Nazi, don't align yourself with Nazis. Yeah, don't vote for
- 11:12Speaker 1: a Nazi. So butt's fucking get shit. But yeah, check
- 11:17Speaker 1: out Good Luck America every Monday with me and Shay Wild.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Actually it's chat, but I like making it a silent.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Icy tea brown. Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That everything we just talked about kind of ties into
- 11:30Speaker 1: what we're talking about next because you mentioned cracked, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: this theory we're going to talk about today, in my opinion,
- 11:38Speaker 1: is not even a conspiracy theory.
- 11:40Speaker 2: It's just facts.
- 11:42Speaker 3: And one issue I have with your article, and I'll
- 11:45Speaker 3: we'll get to it in a bit, is the most
- 11:47Speaker 3: blatant thing that backs up your case. You didn't even
- 11:51Speaker 3: mention in the article.
- 11:52Speaker 2: What's that? I got the icing on the cake. We'll
- 11:54Speaker 2: get to it. Okay, I feel like you're doing a
- 11:56Speaker 2: bit right now.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I've never done a bit on this podcast over because
- 12:00Speaker 1: you've never been on this podcast on this podcast network.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I am bit free, but bitless wilde they call me.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And the thing about conspiracy, this this particular podcast. I
- 12:11Speaker 1: think this is probably the one that gets the most
- 12:15Speaker 1: listens from people who don't listen to the rest of
- 12:17Speaker 1: our shit.
- 12:18Speaker 2: All right, no references.
- 12:20Speaker 1: We put it on Spotify for a while. Well, no,
- 12:22Speaker 1: that I'm more justifying why I'm doing this episode because
- 12:26Speaker 1: we did this episode once as an unpopular opinion episode,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and man, this is an idea that needs to get
- 12:33Speaker 1: more attention because I am one hundred percent correct in
- 12:37Speaker 1: this shit and I have no doubts about that.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So I'm the guy that said Trump would get elected.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So I did say Trump would get elected, and he did.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And I actually this is the this article I wrote
- 12:50Speaker 1: the week after the Trump article, and it's an article
- 12:54Speaker 1: about how the band Ace of Bass was actually a
- 12:58Speaker 1: Nazi or a white nationalist or white supremacist band and
- 13:03Speaker 1: The reason I'm doing it again is because I don't.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of the conspiracy the show
- 13:08Speaker 1: audience hasn't been exposed to this yet, and it's like
- 13:12Speaker 1: it's like one of my defining moments in life because
- 13:17Speaker 1: the way I found this it was also like coincidental and.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Weird, and there's no such thing as coincidences. You were
- 13:26Speaker 3: meant for this. It's your greater purpose.
- 13:28Speaker 1: My destiny, to take down a band that hasn't released
- 13:31Speaker 1: an album almost in two decades.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Maybe they'll play my living room. If you don't want
- 13:36Speaker 2: to be called a Nazi, don't associate with not.
- 13:39Speaker 3: But we could put them on the spot. We could
- 13:40Speaker 3: trick them and then be like, tells you Nazis? Yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 3: And see, here's the thing. The Nazi background of a
- 13:47Speaker 3: SA bass is actually pretty well known. That part is
- 13:50Speaker 3: not a secret. There was an article by Vice Music
- 13:54Speaker 3: editor Ben Shapiro, not not that benro make that very clear.
- 14:02Speaker 3: He wrote an article a few years back that revealed
- 14:05Speaker 3: ASA base founder Ulf Eckberg, who I believe they refer
- 14:09Speaker 3: to as Smurf, was once in a Nazi punk band
- 14:13Speaker 3: called Commit Suicide suicide spelled with two s's your Nazi
- 14:18Speaker 3: impression sounds oddly racist towards Japanese people. For some reason,
- 14:24Speaker 3: sounded like somebody doing a bad impression of a Kami
- 14:27Speaker 3: Kazi pilot.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Listen, Japan committed a lot of atrocities in World War Two.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I know a lot of suicide. That's what I was
- 14:33Speaker 2: going with there.
- 14:35Speaker 1: And here's a sample of that band's translated lyrics.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I let you read this one at him.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, men in white hoods marched down the road. We
- 14:45Speaker 1: enjoy ourselves when we're sawing off n words heads. And
- 14:48Speaker 1: they did not say n word. They said the real
- 14:51Speaker 1: word immigrant. We hate you out out, out out Nordic people,
- 14:57Speaker 1: wake up now, Shoot shoot shoot shoot?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Why did they gotta bring Nordic people into this? See,
- 15:03Speaker 3: I love me some Norway. I'm going to Norway, fucking
- 15:05Speaker 3: deal with.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Maybe you can join Asa bass. They probably need a
- 15:08Speaker 1: drummer and I'll audition and then the band will never
- 15:11Speaker 1: get back to me. Deep references, listen to the other pods.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that is a deep reference.
- 15:17Speaker 1: And this article he wrote it ends basically asking the question,
- 15:22Speaker 1: did this guy start a sub bass to kind of
- 15:26Speaker 1: wipe the slate clean and hide his Nazi past?
- 15:30Speaker 3: Well, the original name of the band was Master Race
- 15:33Speaker 3: of Bass actually, so that's that's where the name comes from.
- 15:37Speaker 3: That they just took off the master R.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I get this. I got on the nose. I get
- 15:44Speaker 2: to be funny on this podcast.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And so here's the thing. He asked that question, and
- 15:50Speaker 1: the answer to that question is no, he did not
- 15:52Speaker 1: use ASA Bass to hide his Nazi past, because ASA
- 15:56Speaker 1: Bass is also a Nazi band. Like blatantly, I almost
- 16:03Speaker 1: we were gonna do this episode on Sunday with Tom
- 16:05Speaker 1: Ryman and David Bell, who worked with me at Cracked
- 16:08Speaker 1: at the time. And right around the same time I
- 16:12Speaker 1: wrote this article, he wrote an article about how the
- 16:14Speaker 1: Muppets caused nine to eleven, and people in the comments
- 16:17Speaker 1: were just like, yeah, man, I wish you'd taken this
- 16:20Speaker 1: a little more seriously. This like this sounds legit and
- 16:23Speaker 1: he was joking. And then I write this and I'm
- 16:27Speaker 1: deadly serious. It includes visual aids to help you see
- 16:32Speaker 1: everything I'm talking about, and people are like, this feels
- 16:36Speaker 1: like a reach, Like it feels like a reach that
- 16:38Speaker 1: a former Nazi incorporated Nazi imagery into his new band.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Why the tagline of the website is America's Only humor website.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So well, that's because when I was there, it was
- 16:49Speaker 1: the only humor website. Now there's no humor website exactly.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Wamp wamp.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Sorry. Fox News can be funny in its own way. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 2: that's true.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So I want to go through some of the the
- 17:01Speaker 1: signs that.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Not, Man, you didn't even know. I didn't even intend
- 17:08Speaker 2: to do that.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Man, I want to go through some of the signs,
- 17:12Speaker 1: just like the ones they saw, the signs I saw.
- 17:15Speaker 1: When I saw the sign that told me Asa Basse
- 17:18Speaker 1: was a bunch of fucking.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Nazis, I thought it said I saw the sun. By
- 17:21Speaker 3: the way, I don't even know it was sign until, like.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Travis Clark thought the second line of good Vibration by
- 17:28Speaker 1: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, the chorus where they
- 17:31Speaker 1: say it's such a good he thought the second line
- 17:36Speaker 1: was it's that sweet Dixie charm.
- 17:39Speaker 2: What is the actual lyric? I know it's not that,
- 17:41Speaker 2: but it's a sweet sensation sweet. I don't know how
- 17:47Speaker 2: what the fuck?
- 17:48Speaker 1: It's one of my favorite misheard lyrics probably ever. I
- 17:52Speaker 1: was so baffled when he brought that up on a
- 17:54Speaker 1: podcast that we were live streaming in front of all
- 17:56Speaker 1: the world to see. I did cut it out and
- 17:58Speaker 1: put it in the outtakes. I didn't put it in
- 18:01Speaker 1: the public episode, but now this is a public episode
- 18:03Speaker 1: and I.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Just put it.
- 18:05Speaker 3: But if you want to hear our best pod, go
- 18:06Speaker 3: to the outtakes, the pod that's too good for the
- 18:08Speaker 3: regular pods.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you get the weekly outtakes episode when you subscribe
- 18:12Speaker 1: on Patreon, because I know you're listening to this for free,
- 18:15Speaker 1: but we still love you anyway, baby, hashtag fucks, hashtag
- 18:19Speaker 1: plugs back on track, back on track. Let's talk about
- 18:22Speaker 1: the first thing that caught my attention when it comes
- 18:26Speaker 1: to this story. Think about the name. It's Ace of Bass,
- 18:29Speaker 1: but it's not b ass as you would expect. We
- 18:32Speaker 1: might think it was best well, but still it's a
- 18:35Speaker 1: band they that makes like fucking house music or technomedia,
- 18:39Speaker 1: whatever the fuck this band made, and so you would
- 18:42Speaker 1: expect it to be bass, but it's not. It's Ace
- 18:45Speaker 1: of Bass B A S. E. And what first tipped
- 18:49Speaker 1: me off that that might be something weird. There's a
- 18:54Speaker 1: show I don't know if it's still on Netflix, but
- 18:56Speaker 1: you can find it out there. It's a documentary series
- 18:58Speaker 1: called Nazi megaweapon and the second episode of the first
- 19:02Speaker 1: season is about the Caraman Submarine Base, and this was
- 19:08Speaker 1: The Caraman Submarine Base was a huge, just massive U
- 19:12Speaker 1: boat launching facility that was in the French town of Laurient,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and it was one of the most ambitious and important
- 19:22Speaker 1: projects of the entire Nazi war machine. In nineteen forty
- 19:28Speaker 1: one alone, missions originating from this base took out more
- 19:32Speaker 1: than five hundred Allied ships sound and that's in one year.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And it was so well constructed. The Allies built a
- 19:41Speaker 1: bomb specifically, built a new bomb specifically to try and
- 19:46Speaker 1: take out this facility, which they were not able to do.
- 19:50Speaker 2: They called it a tall boy. Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 1: They eventually neutralized it by literally flattening the entire city
- 19:58Speaker 1: around it so these U boats could not reach it,
- 20:01Speaker 1: but the Nazis maintained control of it through the end
- 20:04Speaker 1: of the war. We never got it from them. If
- 20:06Speaker 1: you were a Nazi historian on the wrong side of
- 20:10Speaker 1: history where you study Nazis and you're like, yeah, I
- 20:13Speaker 1: wish this would have worked out. God damn it, I
- 20:15Speaker 1: love these dudes so much. The Kraman facility is something
- 20:19Speaker 1: you would know and something you would probably take a
- 20:22Speaker 1: little bit of pride in as a Nazi sympathizer yourself,
- 20:27Speaker 1: because the Nazis took a lot of pride in it.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Because the Allies never took it from them.
- 20:32Speaker 3: You don't have to call them Nazi sympathizers. You can
- 20:33Speaker 3: call them what they are, Nazis.
- 20:36Speaker 2: And here's the thing.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Because most of Germany's top U boat captains launched their
- 20:44Speaker 1: missions from here, from this Caraman facility, they called the
- 20:48Speaker 1: Kraman Submarine Facility the base of aces, Base of Aces,
- 20:56Speaker 1: So flip ASA base around.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, could you draw this up there? Yeah? Can I?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Can I point it out anymore? The Base of Aces?
- 21:04Speaker 1: And when I heard that, I had not read this
- 21:06Speaker 1: Vice article. I did not give a shit enough about
- 21:09Speaker 1: ASA Base to know anything that had transpired with them
- 21:13Speaker 1: since the early nineties when they were making music. And
- 21:16Speaker 1: I heard that and was like, man, what if Ace
- 21:19Speaker 1: of Bass's name is a Nazi reference? So then I
- 21:23Speaker 1: went out and hit the Googles and I find this
- 21:25Speaker 1: Vice article that makes it very clear that one of
- 21:29Speaker 1: the founding members at least used to be a Nazi,
- 21:34Speaker 1: presumably no longer.
- 21:36Speaker 3: But because that's how Nazism works, you just wait, yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 3: you just grow out of it one day.
- 21:41Speaker 2: So here's the thing.
- 21:43Speaker 1: It's possible that that is, well, I should explain ASA Bass.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Their explanation for the band name is that, well, the
- 21:50Speaker 1: studio is like our bass and we're like the masters
- 21:55Speaker 1: of the studio. And it's like, all right, well, why
- 21:57Speaker 1: aren't you called masters of bass? Then why are you
- 21:59Speaker 1: called ace of Bass? And why is it bas And
- 22:04Speaker 1: that's their explanation, which I guess.
- 22:07Speaker 2: But they only put out one album.
- 22:09Speaker 3: H this was their first album, right, how are you
- 22:11Speaker 3: a master of something if you haven't put out anything else?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Good point. And here's the thing.
- 22:15Speaker 1: I know, maybe there's a lot of skeptics who listened
- 22:18Speaker 1: to this podcast just to I don't know, hate listen
- 22:21Speaker 1: to it. Who people who just assume every conspiracy theory
- 22:24Speaker 1: is fake. Ask yourself, what is more likely that this
- 22:30Speaker 1: band that consists of at least one Nazi, a dude
- 22:35Speaker 1: who has a history of being in a very vile
- 22:38Speaker 1: Nazi band in the past. What's more likely that he
- 22:42Speaker 1: just threw together three words that just happened to kind
- 22:46Speaker 1: of sound similar to a Nazi reference, or that he
- 22:49Speaker 1: knows this is a Nazi reference but also knows it's
- 22:52Speaker 1: a Nazi reference. Most people who aren't Nazis aren't gonna
- 22:56Speaker 1: get like. I only picked up on this because Trump
- 23:01Speaker 1: was on the verge of getting elected. So I was
- 23:03Speaker 1: taking in a bunch of Nazi ship to figure out
- 23:04Speaker 1: what we're what we're up against. And that's the only
- 23:08Speaker 1: way I made the connection between Ace of basse in
- 23:11Speaker 1: this Caraman submarine facility. Most people would not pick up
- 23:16Speaker 1: on Ace of Bass as a Nazi reference. Now, I
- 23:18Speaker 1: if I had, if I was a Nazi band, I
- 23:20Speaker 1: would have named it way more on the notes, like
- 23:23Speaker 1: we Hitler's Whistle be a barbershop quartet that only whistles
- 23:29Speaker 1: that hitler esque music. Yeah, what's hitler esque music? I
- 23:35Speaker 1: don't know, Yeah, but whistling it. I should have got
- 23:42Speaker 1: water before we came up here. You gotta what am parched?
- 23:47Speaker 3: What Hitler's whistle? Just come on, that's objectively a good name.
- 23:50Speaker 1: That's not a bad name. Not a bad name, not
- 23:53Speaker 1: a bad name. But and don't worry, I'm not This
- 23:56Speaker 1: isn't the extent of my feelings on this.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not fold jad Adam. I'll play Devil's advocate.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but everyone who's read this article is pretty much
- 24:06Speaker 1: sold except Patton Oswalt for some reason.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'm not going to thank you.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he tweeted it and he said what he said,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm still not convinced. It's like, why why not? Because
- 24:17Speaker 1: it's not cool to say you believe a conspiracy theory.
- 24:20Speaker 1: That's not even a conspiracy theory. It's just me laying
- 24:23Speaker 1: out a bunch of really obvious, blatant Nazi imagery that
- 24:29Speaker 1: you can find in several Asa Bass songs. I guess
- 24:32Speaker 1: that doesn't necessarily make them a Nazi band. It just
- 24:36Speaker 1: definitely makes them a Nazi band. So the first that
- 24:39Speaker 1: the name is the first thing that is an it's
- 24:43Speaker 1: an obscure Nazi reference because I only aside from the
- 24:47Speaker 1: Nazi mega weapons thing, I went looking around for other
- 24:50Speaker 1: examples of this Caramoun facility being referred to as the
- 24:54Speaker 1: base of Aces, and I found it in one book
- 24:56Speaker 1: that I found on Google Books and everywhere else. Like
- 25:00Speaker 1: it's kind of a low key Nazi reference, exactly the
- 25:04Speaker 1: kind of thing some fuckstick Nazi who thinks he's smarter
- 25:08Speaker 1: than everyone else would figure he could just sneak by
- 25:11Speaker 1: everyone without them knowing. And here's the thing he was right.
- 25:16Speaker 1: He was right. It did get by everyone. It was
- 25:19Speaker 1: the Anne Frank of band names, but not this guy. No,
- 25:22Speaker 1: I caught it, God damn it. Just in time, something
- 25:26Speaker 1: like that's a good band name, just in time, twenty
- 25:29Speaker 1: years after the albums, like.
- 25:30Speaker 2: A good stage name, just in time, Like.
- 25:33Speaker 1: No, that's I'm sure there's several people with that stage name,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and I hate them all. So that's the first thing.
- 25:39Speaker 1: The name is a fucking Nazi reference. And now let's
- 25:43Speaker 1: talk about Happy Nation for one thing, the album we
- 25:46Speaker 1: all know and love except me. I fucking hated this
- 25:49Speaker 1: band for aver. I don't like this album either, and
- 25:51Speaker 1: my parents had it.
- 25:52Speaker 3: They had this Genesis is Invisible Touch and the Tractors,
- 25:58Speaker 3: I forget the name of the album. I remember those
- 26:00Speaker 3: receiving being next to each other. Yeah, Unglee Genesis was
- 26:03Speaker 3: my greatest influence of those three. Fortunately, Yeah, otherwise you'd
- 26:08Speaker 3: be irate right now in this podcast.
- 26:10Speaker 2: The Tractors, what was that? Forgot even now? But yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 1: The the album that most people know as The Sign
- 26:20Speaker 1: was actually released in Sweden initially as an album called
- 26:24Speaker 1: Happy Nation, and the song Happy Nation is still on
- 26:28Speaker 1: the version that made its way to the United States
- 26:32Speaker 1: and the song Happy Nation is one hundred percent a
- 26:36Speaker 1: song about Adolf Hitler, Like they could not be more
- 26:40Speaker 1: obvious about it. For starters, it kicks off, let's listen
- 26:45Speaker 1: to it while we talk. That's a that's an experience.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Let listen the first time. Didn't get this song starts
- 26:55Speaker 1: off with a chant by the former Nineazi in the band.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And because it's a weird like mishmash of Latin and Hebrew,
- 27:09Speaker 1: no one's ever like one accurately translated it because you
- 27:12Speaker 1: can't because it's not an actual language.
- 27:14Speaker 2: He's like throwing a bunch of shit together.
- 27:16Speaker 1: But among the translations out there, it's usually a variation
- 27:21Speaker 1: of this, on the wings of the eagle, with God's help,
- 27:26Speaker 1: I was there before everyone.
- 27:29Speaker 2: In the meantime, I will kill you. I was there
- 27:31Speaker 2: before everyone, so on the wings of an eagle. On
- 27:36Speaker 2: the wings of an eagle, you say that's and a Nazi.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I mean it also says I will kill you, which
- 27:44Speaker 1: is ominous, but.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Okay, I have to pause it. Let's this is the
- 27:56Speaker 2: that mappening. Nazis wanted to get every rid of everyone
- 27:59Speaker 2: to have more of that. Yikes, Yeah, exactly.
- 28:02Speaker 1: This is that opening verse, which is actually the chorus
- 28:06Speaker 1: happy Nation, living in a happy nation where people understand
- 28:11Speaker 1: and dream of the perfect man, a situation leading to
- 28:16Speaker 1: sweet salvation for the people, for the cook, for the good,
- 28:21Speaker 1: for the mankind brotherhood. If I'm not mistaken, the Nazis
- 28:26Speaker 1: did have some interest in creating the perfect man, actually
- 28:31Speaker 1: the perfect race of Marian race.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, remember when they were called aran ace of Baise known.
- 28:38Speaker 1: But that's that's at least sounds suspicious because why else
- 28:44Speaker 1: is a sabass a band whose name is a Nazi
- 28:48Speaker 1: reference and was founded by a dude who was in
- 28:51Speaker 1: a Nazi band. Why are they like you gotta stack it, baby,
- 28:55Speaker 1: stack it all up. Throw this that that in the
- 28:59Speaker 1: opening verse they won on the wings of an eagle,
- 29:02Speaker 1: but also perfect man, like that is a Nazi ideal.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Stack it on top of your conspiracy. Stack it sacks
- 29:10Speaker 3: for conspiracy. Is this is a Nazi cheeseburger. And you're
- 29:13Speaker 3: starting with nothing, but you've given us the bread, and
- 29:16Speaker 3: now you've thrown some lettuce and tomato on that bread.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Right, And there's more in the song happy Nation, give
- 29:23Speaker 1: us that mayo, because there's there's the dream of the
- 29:25Speaker 1: perfect man bit which you can argue with me about
- 29:28Speaker 1: what that could mean otherwise, but I will not fucking
- 29:31Speaker 1: believe you. And this is the second verse, ideas by
- 29:35Speaker 1: man and only that will last. And over time we've
- 29:39Speaker 1: turned to the past that no man's fit to rule
- 29:43Speaker 1: the world alone. A man will die, but not his ideas.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Can you think of a man who tried to rule
- 29:49Speaker 1: the world alone at any point that a band founded
- 29:54Speaker 1: by a Nazi whose name is a Nazi reference, who
- 29:58Speaker 1: just sang about building the perfect man? Can you think
- 30:02Speaker 1: of a leader who tried any of that?
- 30:05Speaker 2: Seems like you have sported some male on those what. Oh,
- 30:10Speaker 2: this bit's killing it. And here's the thing.
- 30:14Speaker 1: It gets that part gets even fucking worse because I
- 30:18Speaker 1: understand if you're like, no, I want to give you.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I'm still going to give this band the benefit of
- 30:22Speaker 1: the doubt for some reason. Chat, I want you to
- 30:25Speaker 1: direct your attention to the TV screen and tell me
- 30:28Speaker 1: if you can see what flies through the air when
- 30:30Speaker 1: she says a man might die, but not his ideas.
- 30:33Speaker 2: It's very quick. Origin Species, Original Species.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Yes, what it actually says is on the Origin of
- 30:46Speaker 1: Species by Charles Darwin.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Which was a book, which was a book that title
- 30:52Speaker 2: seems truncated.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Here's the full title, chat on the Origin of Species
- 30:57Speaker 1: by means of natural selection or the preservation of Favored
- 31:02Speaker 1: races in the Struggle for Life? Why is that in
- 31:06Speaker 1: an Asa basis any other text? That is the only
- 31:11Speaker 1: fucking book title that pops up in this video videos
- 31:17Speaker 1: a fucking Nazi. I have no idea, but like, I
- 31:23Speaker 1: feel like I could stop there because we have founded
- 31:26Speaker 1: by a former Nazi. You got bread, got the bread,
- 31:30Speaker 1: the band, the band name, potential Nazi reference. I'll even
- 31:35Speaker 1: just say potential. You got the the Wings of the
- 31:38Speaker 1: Eagle and the Perfect Man Mayo, which come right in
- 31:42Speaker 1: the beginning of the song. And then then you have
- 31:45Speaker 1: the verse about how one man can't rule the world
- 31:49Speaker 1: and he might die, but his ideas won't. And as
- 31:52Speaker 1: soon as she says his ideas won't, a book about
- 31:55Speaker 1: the preservation of favored races pops off on the screen
- 32:01Speaker 1: and chat. That book is one of the books that
- 32:04Speaker 1: Adolf Hitler based the Nazi ideology off of. That's one
- 32:09Speaker 1: of the tragic things about that book because it's not
- 32:12Speaker 1: a racist book. It's dealing with like evolution basically people
- 32:19Speaker 1: positive things. Yeah that people interpret it for their own gains.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Well, that sounds to me like two pieces achieved. They're Adam, right,
- 32:26Speaker 3: give me that hamburger. You want that hamburger?
- 32:29Speaker 2: Check.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I'm getting really uncomfortable with this, but it's fine, we'll
- 32:32Speaker 1: keep going. So so there's that, there's Happy Nation. There's
- 32:37Speaker 1: the fact that the album title was changed from Happy
- 32:40Speaker 1: Nation to the Sign because maybe people in the US
- 32:43Speaker 1: would have seen Happy Nation and been like what.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Now that I would say is the weakest point of
- 32:47Speaker 3: your arguments, because it's not.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Okay, But it's also not one of my points. I
- 32:52Speaker 1: didn't like put it in the notes here, but it.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Was read the article. But yeah, but okay, I won't
- 32:59Speaker 2: go after you on that point. Then well, no, what what?
- 33:03Speaker 3: Just the Americans are dumb? So you just named the
- 33:05Speaker 3: fucking album what the popular song is?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:08Speaker 1: And also the Sign isn't on the version that was
- 33:11Speaker 1: released in Sweden. So yeah, that's fine. So now let's
- 33:16Speaker 1: talk about all that she wants because this album had
- 33:19Speaker 1: three big singles, the Sign, which there's so much going
- 33:23Speaker 1: on in that video.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I don't that's like alien Nazis.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I don't know what the fuck is happening in that
- 33:28Speaker 1: video and their other big single was Don't Turn Around,
- 33:33Speaker 1: which is a Tina Turner cover, so probably not a
- 33:36Speaker 1: lot of Nazi references in that. But then there's All
- 33:39Speaker 1: that She Wants No go, let's hear it. I need
- 33:43Speaker 1: to hear it. The Ike Turner actually wrote the lyrics
- 33:47Speaker 1: true story. I can't can't make abuse jokes like that
- 33:56Speaker 1: check because yeah, because he'll hit you in the face
- 34:00Speaker 1: because he's like Turner man. So the other single, All
- 34:06Speaker 1: that She Wants is another baby and the.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Band what have you believe?
- 34:13Speaker 1: This song is about a woman who just sleeps around
- 34:16Speaker 1: and doesn't want to like, she doesn't want to have
- 34:20Speaker 1: a boyfriend. She wants to have a lot of boyfriends.
- 34:22Speaker 1: But if you look at the lyrics, it's a lot more.
- 34:27Speaker 1: It sounds a lot more like a woman who doesn't
- 34:31Speaker 1: want to work and wants to have a baby so
- 34:34Speaker 1: she doesn't have to work. And this is the first verse.
- 34:38Speaker 1: When she woke up late in the morning light and
- 34:40Speaker 1: the day had just begun, she opened up her eyes
- 34:43Speaker 1: and thought, oh what a morning. It's not a day
- 34:45Speaker 1: for work, It's a day for catching tan, just laying
- 34:49Speaker 1: on the beach and having fun.
- 34:51Speaker 2: She's going to get you now.
- 34:52Speaker 3: The Nazis tan, because that would take away from your whiteness.
- 34:56Speaker 3: To what degree is it acceptable for a Nazi or
- 34:59Speaker 3: a white surprise, like, to what shade of white?
- 35:02Speaker 2: How many shades down? There were some pretty tan Nazis.
- 35:05Speaker 1: A lot of them worked out like outdoors and took
- 35:08Speaker 1: their shirts off and things, showed off their big Nazi chests.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I mean, they were like the worker bees. All the
- 35:13Speaker 1: higher ups stayed inside and got all pasty white. But
- 35:16Speaker 1: there were some tan Nazis, but no one's deliberately getting
- 35:19Speaker 1: But also this, this person in the song isn't a Nazi.
- 35:23Speaker 1: They're singing about a Jewish person. And if you're wondering,
- 35:28Speaker 1: well know any jew. If you're wondering, like, how would
- 35:32Speaker 1: you assume that the person in this song is Jewish?
- 35:37Speaker 1: It's because in the first fifteen seconds of the video
- 35:40Speaker 1: for All That She Wants, they just show the woman
- 35:43Speaker 1: they're singing about stroking a necklace. That's just a bunch
- 35:47Speaker 1: of star of David's why why in the video for
- 35:53Speaker 1: the song about a woman who just wants to get
- 35:57Speaker 1: pregnant and live off society, a welfare queen if you will,
- 36:00Speaker 1: Which that alone, that idea is some right wing shit,
- 36:05Speaker 1: like only the most right wing types actually think that
- 36:09Speaker 1: stereotype is a real thing. Like there are select cases
- 36:14Speaker 1: of welfare fraud, just like there are select cases of
- 36:18Speaker 1: bank fraud in the world. It doesn't make everyone who
- 36:20Speaker 1: has a bank account a bank fraud person. And so
- 36:26Speaker 1: just the idea of that, and I get that they're
- 36:29Speaker 1: you know, their excuses. Oh no, that's not what it's about.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Then why all the star of David's in the beginning
- 36:33Speaker 1: of the video.
- 36:34Speaker 3: The other show I have with that music video is
- 36:36Speaker 3: when she goes to get in a tanning bed, they
- 36:38Speaker 3: call it a tanning oven.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Don't know what that's about.
- 36:42Speaker 1: And so let's in this video. I'll make it full
- 36:48Speaker 1: screen just so you don't miss it. Chat here we go.
- 36:51Speaker 1: We are six seconds in, I see it lots of
- 36:54Speaker 1: lots of Nazis or not, lots of Jewish stars. And
- 37:00Speaker 1: thirteen seconds in they make it a little more clear,
- 37:03Speaker 1: so you can very clearly see that these are a
- 37:05Speaker 1: bunch of six pointed stars on a chain that the
- 37:09Speaker 1: woman they're singing about either just being of loose moral
- 37:15Speaker 1: character or being a drain on society.
- 37:18Speaker 2: She won't even hold that guy's end. She's uh, that's
- 37:22Speaker 2: because she's she's a Jew chat.
- 37:26Speaker 1: And I would if you're if you're listening to this
- 37:31Speaker 1: and you're still on the fence again, let's let's let's
- 37:36Speaker 1: stack it up.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Let's stack it up.
- 37:38Speaker 1: We have a former Nazi founds a band, or we
- 37:43Speaker 1: assume we assume he's a former Nazi. He did not
- 37:47Speaker 1: disavow any of this ship until that Vice article came out.
- 37:50Speaker 1: So a Nazi starts a band, a band whose name
- 37:55Speaker 1: is a Nazi reference. They have a song called Happy
- 38:01Speaker 1: Nation that is just littered with Nazi references, including the
- 38:05Speaker 1: name of the book Hitler in part based mind comp
- 38:09Speaker 1: on flying through the Air when they say a man
- 38:12Speaker 1: will die but not his ideas. And then there's this
- 38:17Speaker 1: a song about At best, it's about a just a
- 38:22Speaker 1: loose woman who shouldn't be trusted. Like they say, I'm
- 38:25Speaker 1: she's going to get you so many times in this song,
- 38:28Speaker 1: so it's at least if she's loose, you have a
- 38:30Speaker 1: chance to escape. What god, oh my god, So at
- 38:37Speaker 1: best the song is about that. At worst, it's about
- 38:40Speaker 1: a woman who is a drain on society. Which does
- 38:44Speaker 1: that rhetoric sound familiar? Students of Nazi Germany or students
- 38:49Speaker 1: of the current or students of Nazi America, and then
- 38:54Speaker 1: to cap all of that off twice in the first
- 38:57Speaker 1: thirteen seconds in this video. They cannot stress enough that
- 39:03Speaker 1: this unsavory woman they're singing about is also Jewish? Why
- 39:09Speaker 1: why was that.
- 39:10Speaker 2: So important to this video? Because it's not.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I actually when I wrote the article, I was like,
- 39:17Speaker 1: oh shit, yeah, you see it twice there. If you
- 39:20Speaker 1: watch the whole video, the chick is just holding the
- 39:23Speaker 1: thing up in the background the whole fucking time.
- 39:26Speaker 2: So when you take all.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Of that together, if they aren't a Nazi band, then
- 39:32Speaker 1: why why is all of that in this Ace of
- 39:37Speaker 1: Bass album? And there's other shit on that. They have
- 39:40Speaker 1: a song called the Eyes of a Stranger, which sounds
- 39:43Speaker 1: a lot like don't let strangers into your country because
- 39:46Speaker 1: the chorus is like I see danger in the eyes
- 39:48Speaker 1: of a stranger.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Sorry, I can't stop smirking. But look at how many
- 39:51Speaker 3: thumbs down this video as six you're gonna get magnis like,
- 39:59Speaker 3: why is he gritting?
- 40:00Speaker 2: An idiot? But forty nine million views? Six?
- 40:06Speaker 1: Nine?
- 40:08Speaker 2: Nice? Ah man, so nice? Like sixty nine and with
- 40:11Speaker 2: a period? What gross?
- 40:15Speaker 1: It's gross at least so yeah, we'll take this very seriously.
- 40:20Speaker 3: But yeah, and that, Yeah, I think you got a
- 40:24Speaker 3: burger there, you got a Nazi burger. Yeah, I just
- 40:26Speaker 3: there's you know, there's other things you can listen to
- 40:29Speaker 3: on the album. The song Eyes of a Stranger does
- 40:31Speaker 3: sound like some xenophobic anti immigration shit. But even if
- 40:35Speaker 3: every other song is just Tina Turner covers in fucking
- 40:39Speaker 3: lighthearted dance stuff, why is all this Nazi shit in
- 40:44Speaker 3: the rest of the album?
- 40:45Speaker 2: You're's the one you're really missing.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I saw the sign the signs a fucking twastika, but
- 40:53Speaker 3: not if I had some very compelling evidence, that would
- 40:57Speaker 3: be great.
- 40:58Speaker 2: But in the video it's not unfortunate.
- 41:00Speaker 3: But I assume there's some reference you're not catching. There
- 41:02Speaker 3: has to be referenced.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Well, let's watch it quick.
- 41:05Speaker 1: It's because it is a weird video and there are
- 41:07Speaker 1: a lot of strange signs. You said, that's the like
- 41:10Speaker 1: flying Nazi thing flying around in the air. To me,
- 41:14Speaker 1: all the ace of bass hits, like the three radio songs,
- 41:17Speaker 1: they all sound the same to me, like they're interchange.
- 41:19Speaker 2: They're all trash.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I just hated as of bass. Oh they're emerging from
- 41:24Speaker 1: the dark. None of them play instrument. See, yeah, so
- 41:30Speaker 1: many quick changes.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I swear the dude just gave a Nazi salute too.
- 41:50Speaker 1: This video show Yeah, I don't know what sign is
- 41:52Speaker 1: flying through the air in this song, but yeah, you have.
- 41:55Speaker 2: To break this up frame by frame, but there is
- 41:57Speaker 2: something hidden here. What's that flag? They're just like, for
- 42:00Speaker 2: no reason, she see that. That's the thing.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Now every time I see Asa Bass, I'm like, what
- 42:06Speaker 1: Nazi shit are they doing?
- 42:12Speaker 2: This song is upbeat side side?
- 42:28Speaker 1: Can we just get it right out of the way
- 42:30Speaker 1: that if they're gonna jettison anyone from their society, it
- 42:34Speaker 1: needs to be that second singer. What the fuck is
- 42:36Speaker 1: she doing there? Not because she doesn't even have blonde hair,
- 42:40Speaker 1: but where do you belong Israel? Perhaps as wants to know, Uh,
- 42:47Speaker 1: don't you turn that hand, sir?
- 42:50Speaker 2: Okay, fuck these motherfuckers. Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I watched the video for the sign. I couldn't find
- 42:55Speaker 1: anything weird in it. But there's also a lot of
- 42:57Speaker 1: symbols in that video that I don't understand, and it
- 43:01Speaker 1: seems like the one they show the most is like
- 43:04Speaker 1: a kind of a mishmash of two different symbols. So
- 43:08Speaker 1: who fucking knows, but it doesn't. The sign doesn't have
- 43:11Speaker 1: to be a Nazi fucking song.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Have you gone out and done PR on this, like
- 43:15Speaker 3: you should be on some publicity blitz like on all
- 43:18Speaker 3: the shows talking about this.
- 43:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I've thought of like trying to reach out to some
- 43:22Speaker 1: other podcasts to see if it could be a thing
- 43:23Speaker 1: like NPR come talk talk about.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 43:27Speaker 1: We'll see, But for now, if anyone listening to Conspiracy
- 43:31Speaker 1: the podcast right now would like or Conspiracy the show,
- 43:34Speaker 1: I forget what it's called. I only do it every week.
- 43:37Speaker 1: If anyone would like to spread this around and tell
- 43:40Speaker 1: people that you saw the sign and it opened up
- 43:43Speaker 1: your eyes, and your eyes saw another sign that said
- 43:47Speaker 1: Asa Bassis a bunch of fucking Nazis.
- 43:49Speaker 3: I always thought the lyric was I saw the sign,
- 43:51Speaker 3: It opened up my eyes sixty nine?
- 43:53Speaker 1: What oh no, it's another sixty nine. That's what I
- 43:57Speaker 1: always we are getting them in so like the mouth parts,
- 44:05Speaker 1: that's my ASA base conspiracy. This is like the second
- 44:09Speaker 1: episode I've done where it's just a conspiracy.
- 44:11Speaker 2: On my own baby. What was the other one?
- 44:14Speaker 1: Uh? I am of the belief that Baseball, at least
- 44:18Speaker 1: if they didn't manufacture the steroid scandal, they at least
- 44:21Speaker 1: encouraged it because they knew they were going to have
- 44:24Speaker 1: to discredit Barry Bonds somehow. Why because they knew he
- 44:28Speaker 1: was gonna break the home run record. And everyone in
- 44:30Speaker 1: baseball fucking hates Barry Bonds because Barry Bonds is a dick,
- 44:35Speaker 1: But he's also inarguably the greatest baseball player of all time.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Exclusive it's not because he was black.
- 44:43Speaker 1: It's probably partly that, but a lot of it has
- 44:47Speaker 1: to do with him just being an asshole who like,
- 44:49Speaker 1: he didn't care about talking to the media, he didn't
- 44:51Speaker 1: care about signing autographs. He was just like, can I
- 44:54Speaker 1: just fucking play baseball and go home? And they didn't
- 44:58Speaker 1: like that. He's not a marketable personalit how many, even
- 45:01Speaker 1: before the steroid scandal, how many fucking endorsement deals do
- 45:06Speaker 1: you remember Barry Bonds having? How many commercials do you
- 45:08Speaker 1: remember him being in? None because people fucking hated Barry.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I remember the Simpsons softball episode. That's not the same thing,
- 45:16Speaker 1: And that was probably after the Barry Bonds thing, wasn't it.
- 45:19Speaker 2: No, that was before? When did it? When was the
- 45:21Speaker 2: Simpsons episode?
- 45:22Speaker 3: It had to have been mid middle mid late nineties,
- 45:26Speaker 3: but I think middle nineties really that's anyway.
- 45:31Speaker 1: So that's that's my Those are my feelings on ASA base.
- 45:34Speaker 1: I don't even like to call it a conspiracy theory.
- 45:36Speaker 1: I just want you all to know we bought twenty
- 45:39Speaker 1: five million copies of a Nazi album in the United States.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I thought it was only nine million in the UNIT.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Oh that's right, nine million in the United States. Twenty
- 45:47Speaker 1: five million worldwide, but nine million in the US. That's
- 45:51Speaker 1: that's that's not nothing.
- 45:53Speaker 3: So what you're saying is one out of every six
- 45:55Speaker 3: people who voted for Trump. Wait how many elections votes
- 45:58Speaker 3: to get trying to do? I don't fucking know who cares.
- 46:03Speaker 3: And yeah, it like like it came out right on
- 46:05Speaker 3: the when grunge was really.
- 46:08Speaker 1: A thing people needed anything that people Everything on the
- 46:12Speaker 1: radio is so fucking sad, five six, seven, eight years
- 46:16Speaker 1: before fastball will give you the way and think about
- 46:18Speaker 1: it though. That's kind of how Nazism takes hold in
- 46:22Speaker 1: a country.
- 46:23Speaker 2: People just need something different.
- 46:24Speaker 1: People are so like in Nazi Germany, it was that
- 46:30Speaker 1: people were so fucking broken by what happened after World
- 46:33Speaker 1: War One and then the stock market crash in the
- 46:37Speaker 1: United States happens, which fucking res Germany's economy and everyone
- 46:41Speaker 1: is just living in misery, and they're like, fuck, okay,
- 46:44Speaker 1: we'll we'll try out this different thing, even though it's
- 46:47Speaker 1: very different from what we normally like. And in the
- 46:50Speaker 1: United States it was you know, rural people who were like,
- 46:55Speaker 1: no politician ever fucking listens to us, and we're all
- 46:58Speaker 1: dying of opioids and we need our cold jobs back and.
- 47:01Speaker 2: True, I like that guy in the TV show.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and then Trump shows up and goes, hey, I
- 47:06Speaker 1: know I just hosted a reality show and went bankrupt
- 47:08Speaker 1: a bunch of times, But how about me? And they
- 47:11Speaker 1: were like, fine, how about you? And now we have
- 47:14Speaker 1: to hopefully kick a Nazi out of office or become
- 47:18Speaker 1: Nazi point two point zero.
- 47:21Speaker 3: And hey, listen the Nazis or armbands that were red
- 47:26Speaker 3: and white. Yeah Trump supporters, red hats. Very different, very
- 47:34Speaker 3: very different, very different, and yeah with asa bass. Like
- 47:38Speaker 3: the state of popular music at the time was a
- 47:41Speaker 3: lot of fucking sullen Nirvana grunge type shit, even though
- 47:47Speaker 3: Nirvana was like far and away the most upbeat of
- 47:49Speaker 3: those bands. But and people were just like, please, can
- 47:54Speaker 3: we dance to something and what they got was a
- 47:58Speaker 3: fucking Nazi album and they were like, fine, we're not
- 48:01Speaker 3: even listening to these lyrics. And they sold nine million
- 48:04Speaker 3: copies of a Nazi album in the United States.
- 48:07Speaker 2: It's impressive. What happened to the band. I mean, they're
- 48:10Speaker 2: still like around.
- 48:11Speaker 1: They were gonna do a reunion at one point, like,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I don't know, let's trick.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Him on the pod. Uh. I don't feel like it's
- 48:18Speaker 2: that far fetched. He We tried that at Cracked.
- 48:20Speaker 1: We wanted to sit this dude down for an interview
- 48:23Speaker 1: and he wasn't going for it.
- 48:25Speaker 2: But it was with the context of you're a Nazi.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Uh No, I don't think so.
- 48:29Speaker 3: What if I start a campaign to get them to
- 48:30Speaker 3: play my living room? No, and over time I earned
- 48:34Speaker 3: their trust to at least come on the pod.
- 48:36Speaker 2: No, we're just gonna get this information out there.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Everyone tell all your friends Asa Basse was a Nazi
- 48:41Speaker 1: band and that Adam Todd Brown is the one who
- 48:44Speaker 1: came up with that Adam Barry t Brown. All right,
- 48:48Speaker 1: So that's the episode.
