- 0:32Speaker 3: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:34Speaker 3: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today we're discussing
- 0:40Speaker 2: Finding Mister Christmas season two, episode three, Writing into Romance,
- 0:45Speaker 2: which originally aired on the Hallmark Channel on Monday, November tenth.
- 0:50Speaker 2: You can stream it on Hallmark Plus. Fun fact, we
- 0:54Speaker 2: just learned season one of Finding Mister Christmas is streaming
- 0:57Speaker 2: on Amazon Prime. So if you didn't catch it on
- 0:59Speaker 2: Home Plus and you are a Prime subscriber, you can
- 1:02Speaker 2: watch season one over there. I'm rewatching it with my daughter,
- 1:05Speaker 2: are you yes, because she's watching season two with me,
- 1:09Speaker 2: and so now she's curious about season one, so we've
- 1:12Speaker 2: like dipped back into season one. That's fun. It's it's
- 1:16Speaker 2: just as enjoyable.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I loved season one, even though I know the ending,
- 1:20Speaker 2: but it's just as enjoyable.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Hey, if you're on Blue Sky or Threads, follow us there.
- 1:26Speaker 2: We are at Girls Gone Hallmark. Come join us. Megan's
- 1:30Speaker 2: doing threads. I'm doing Blue Sky and we're just chatting
- 1:33Speaker 2: about finding mister Christmas. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Times it airs live posting the episodes.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I said live tweet, and I'm like, no quoting
- 1:43Speaker 2: tweets because I don't know what it's called.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Someone at one point on threads was like, we're calling
- 1:48Speaker 3: them threets and I was like, no, we're not. I
- 1:52Speaker 3: did look it up on Blue Sky. It was something
- 1:56Speaker 3: so bizarre. I was like, I'm not calling it that.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we'ren'ting skates. Skeets, that's what it is. I'm not
- 2:01Speaker 2: doing that either.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Skeets.
- 2:03Speaker 2: No, so dumb, Nope.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Sorry, we're just live posting over there real time, like
- 2:09Speaker 3: back in our old days.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Remember you know, fun fact Megan and I met on Twitter.
- 2:13Speaker 2: We did way way fourteen years ago, and I remember
- 2:18Speaker 2: how active we were on the Twitter community and the
- 2:22Speaker 2: live tweeting. It was so much fun. I know, those
- 2:26Speaker 2: were the day I miss it.
- 2:28Speaker 3: We're trying to capture the magic on these new fangled
- 2:31Speaker 3: social media platforms.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so come join us there on Monday nights. We're
- 2:38Speaker 2: usually there during the Eastern timeframe, so five pm Eastern time.
- 2:42Speaker 2: That's right.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Let's hear a synopsis for Finding Mister Christmas Season two,
- 2:48Speaker 3: episode three.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Riding into Romance, the Hunks get personal while building gingerbread houses,
- 2:54Speaker 2: sharing what Christmas means to them. Then Allison Swinney joins
- 2:58Speaker 2: as they sottle up for a cowboy scene where animal
- 3:00Speaker 2: co stars lead to some unexpected performances.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Before we talk about the opening living room banter, can
- 3:07Speaker 3: we talk about the fact that I just they have
- 3:11Speaker 3: an opening title card, says Finding Mister Christmas.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I've never noticed it before. It looks brand new to me.
- 3:18Speaker 3: What's this font on it? It's just a bright green
- 3:22Speaker 3: background with the Finding Mister Christmas. Logan, Yeah, I think
- 3:25Speaker 3: I'm just always too excited for the episode.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Team I.
- 3:28Speaker 3: So we do start with our living room banter moment,
- 3:32Speaker 3: and they're debriefing how they feel post elimination and Craig
- 3:36Speaker 3: is not feeling safe, and Logan says, Craig is always
- 3:43Speaker 3: making bold choices, and he kind of says it like
- 3:45Speaker 3: in a praising way. Right Then Rustin says, it's never
- 3:49Speaker 3: my first choice to do something bold, but let me
- 3:51Speaker 3: tell you this dude galloped out of the house on
- 3:54Speaker 3: the last challenge, so I beg to differ. Good point
- 3:58Speaker 3: I want to talk about Craig first hair.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know if you caught this, and maybe
- 4:03Speaker 2: you need to remind me, but Craig is kind of spiraling,
- 4:08Speaker 2: and he says, I've gone from winning pretty much everything
- 4:12Speaker 2: so far to almost on the chopping block. Excuse me, sir,
- 4:16Speaker 2: you won the first Festive face Off? What else has
- 4:18Speaker 2: he won at this point? You're right, that doesn't make
- 4:21Speaker 2: any sense. It doesn't make any sense. Who won the
- 4:24Speaker 2: acting challenge? Episode one? Rustin? Okay? And then episode two
- 4:31Speaker 2: was Craig on the winning team? I think he was
- 4:35Speaker 2: on the winning team. Yes, he was with Robbie the Lobby.
- 4:37Speaker 2: They won on the winning team. Okay, that's fair, But
- 4:41Speaker 2: in my mind, Robbie won that in competition. He wasn't
- 4:45Speaker 2: the winning team, so he did he did get the benefit.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Craig has won two Festive face Offs, fair, but he
- 4:53Speaker 3: has not won an acting challenge.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Right, that's not pretty much everything.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I would agree, and to me, the Festive face Offs
- 5:02Speaker 3: are fun to watch. They give you an advantage in
- 5:04Speaker 3: the acting challenge, but they're not the true test of
- 5:10Speaker 3: what we're looking for here, right, like your ability to
- 5:14Speaker 3: as we're going to see build a gingerbread house has
- 5:17Speaker 3: much less to do with your on camera abilities than
- 5:20Speaker 3: a photo shoot challenge, right right, So yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 2: That's an interesting take. Also, I don't know if you've noticed.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I especially notice it with Davy and Gabriel and they're
- 5:30Speaker 2: drinking out of mugs. There's nothing in those mugs.
- 5:33Speaker 3: It's a classic Hallmark I did notice that, yes, and
- 5:38Speaker 3: it's festive faceoff time. Marcus says it's my turn, my
- 5:43Speaker 3: turn to win. I mean it feels like extreme foreshadowing.
- 5:46Speaker 2: It does. I didn't catch it when watching it. They
- 5:50Speaker 2: did highlight Marcus a lot though in this episode. So
- 5:54Speaker 2: now thinking back on the editing, Oh, I don't like
- 5:58Speaker 2: to know these tricks because either like they they show
- 6:00Speaker 2: you a lot and you're going to go home, or
- 6:01Speaker 2: they show you a lot and they're going to win.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah right, I mean you can't.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't make an accurate guess. But it is
- 6:08Speaker 3: interesting watching it back. They are going to be decorating
- 6:10Speaker 3: gingerbread houses, and our goal is we're going to be
- 6:14Speaker 3: judged on our decorating ability and their ability to tell
- 6:17Speaker 3: a story. What does this house tell us about you?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Right?
- 6:21Speaker 3: And they have thirty five minutes and.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Can I stop you there. As Jonathan is setting up
- 6:28Speaker 2: the festive face off of what they're going to do,
- 6:32Speaker 2: he tosses out a fruitcake joke. Yes, and I thought
- 6:41Speaker 2: it was funny, and then it sat with me for
- 6:43Speaker 2: a second and I was like, look, if if we're
- 6:45Speaker 2: being honest, like we don't need that joke anymore. I
- 6:48Speaker 2: just felt like Jonathan didn't need to undercut himself for
- 6:51Speaker 2: a laugh. And I think representation is evolving and Jonathan's
- 6:57Speaker 2: visibility on the network is a big part of that.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And I feel like when even if you're making the
- 7:02Speaker 2: joke about yourself, it opens the door for other people
- 7:05Speaker 2: to make jokes like that, and I think, like, let's
- 7:09Speaker 2: let's be better than that. Yeah. I don't know, maybe
- 7:13Speaker 2: I'm reading into it. Maybe it was just like a
- 7:15Speaker 2: funny joke and Jonathan's being charming and playful, and I
- 7:21Speaker 2: will say I laughed, but then I was like, wait,
- 7:23Speaker 2: but wait a minute. Yeah, I think that's a great
- 7:26Speaker 2: point anyway. So we get a little bit.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Of a montage of the guys building their houses and
- 7:31Speaker 3: Marcus is like, I'm using red liquorice because my mom
- 7:33Speaker 3: used to buy it on trips, and I was like
- 7:34Speaker 3: that is not the deep moment we were looking for.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Marcus. Oh, Marcus, Oh, Marcus. Yes.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And it's funny because Angel's like, oh, I ate a
- 7:41Speaker 3: ton of cereal as a child, and he's building this
- 7:43Speaker 3: like fruit loop shingled cereal roof. Now, Angel will bring
- 7:46Speaker 3: that story home in his explanation, but when he's just
- 7:50Speaker 3: building this roof, I'm like, Okay, so did I write
- 7:54Speaker 3: like it does have all the elements to me of
- 7:57Speaker 3: a good baking challenge, like you gotta rush to get
- 7:58Speaker 3: it on the table otherwise. Yeah, so I liked that
- 8:02Speaker 3: would work down to the wire. Great editing, and we
- 8:05Speaker 3: bring in Briann Heiltman from People Magazine as our guest judge,
- 8:08Speaker 3: Friend of the show, Friend of the show, briam so
- 8:11Speaker 3: exciting to see somebody we actually know. No, that's right, Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 3: we met her on the Hallmark Cruise last year. Brian says,
- 8:19Speaker 3: they're looking for Frank Lloyd, mister Wright.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Okay, I caught the joke. I'm wondering. I'm feeling fifty
- 8:27Speaker 2: to fifty that the guy's got the joke. Oh yeah, sure, sure,
- 8:30Speaker 2: I'm not calling them not smart. I just I'm like,
- 8:35Speaker 2: they all laughed, But do they know who Frank Lloyd
- 8:38Speaker 2: Wright is. I do not know. Also, during before the
- 8:42Speaker 2: judging happens, there's you know, there's a lot of like
- 8:45Speaker 2: side conversations between like the dudes, and at one point,
- 8:49Speaker 2: your guy Babriel is talking with Davy about Santa, and
- 8:54Speaker 2: I was like, I hope there are any young kids
- 8:57Speaker 2: watching the show, because I don't like where you're going
- 9:01Speaker 2: with this. Did you catch it?
- 9:04Speaker 3: I heard what he said, and I'm I didn't make
- 9:07Speaker 3: the like I hope nobody's watching, But that is always
- 9:09Speaker 3: my first thought, like, don't talk about that now, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:14Speaker 3: Because you know, we got an email from a listener
- 9:17Speaker 3: who says that she watches movies with her daughter and
- 9:20Speaker 3: then they listen to our podcast reviews together, and I'm like, oh, no,
- 9:24Speaker 3: do I need to censor myself Laura on this show
- 9:27Speaker 3: with the things I say? I mean, I don't think
- 9:30Speaker 3: it's gonna have any harness talk in this episode.
- 9:32Speaker 2: So we're good.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Although I mean, Melissa and Jonathan do really go there
- 9:36Speaker 3: during the horseback challenge, so oh.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Liss, oh, we're gonna talk about it. We're gonna talk
- 9:43Speaker 2: about it. Also, I don't know if you saw the DM,
- 9:46Speaker 2: but we did get a DM saying like, I have
- 9:48Speaker 2: to go back and watch episode two and look at
- 9:51Speaker 2: the harnesses that Wendy referred to. Oh my god, I'm sweating.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I feel a little bit embarrassed about it. Well, let's
- 9:59Speaker 2: talk about the houses. Okay, Davy's house his heart felt.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It's inspired by his childhood tradition of hanging Christmas lights
- 10:06Speaker 2: with his brothers, and it's just something he can't wait
- 10:09Speaker 2: to do with his son. It was just basically like
- 10:11Speaker 2: a lot of lights on a gingerbread house.
- 10:12Speaker 3: M Angels up next, and the cereal story comes on
- 10:17Speaker 3: Home because he talks about how his mother had to
- 10:19Speaker 3: work very hard to support the family and so he
- 10:21Speaker 3: was home alone a lot. He ate cereal to feed himself,
- 10:24Speaker 3: as we all do. I really loved his cereal shingles,
- 10:28Speaker 3: but he did have to kind of slapdash the other
- 10:30Speaker 3: side of the roof together with some skittles.
- 10:33Speaker 2: He ran out of time. We had big, big, lofty goals.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I liked it. I was like, Oh, if I build
- 10:40Speaker 2: a gingerbread house this season, I might dip into the cereal.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah, some fruit loop shingles and their light weight so
- 10:46Speaker 3: they're not gonna knock your house over smart.
- 10:50Speaker 2: By the way, did you see they were using glue guns?
- 10:53Speaker 1: I did?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Didn't We just talk about this?
- 10:57Speaker 3: Yes, A real went live on our Instagram over the
- 10:59Speaker 3: weak talking about using glue guns on your gingerbread houses.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That is the way to do it. That's right, that
- 11:05Speaker 2: is the way to do it. Robbie's next with his
- 11:08Speaker 2: schoolhouse as a tribute to a teacher who encouraged him
- 11:11Speaker 2: to pursue acting and was a LGBTQ role model. I
- 11:15Speaker 2: thought it was touching and deeply personal. Job well done, Robbie.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Yes. Rustin's next, Ruston connects with Jonathan with his story
- 11:24Speaker 3: of growing up in a family that was a Christian
- 11:27Speaker 3: worship band and Rustin had extreme stage try and so
- 11:30Speaker 3: in order to help him overcome that, his father built
- 11:33Speaker 3: a stage in their house. Ruston displayed that with the
- 11:37Speaker 3: audience inside their house. And Jonathan connects with this story
- 11:40Speaker 3: because his dad offered to build him a tree house
- 11:42Speaker 3: and Jonathan said, actually, could you build me stage in
- 11:44Speaker 3: the basement?
- 11:45Speaker 2: And he did. I love that story. Yeah, great, real cute,
- 11:50Speaker 2: real cute. Gabriel's next, and he his house is covered
- 11:54Speaker 2: in seashells and he says it represents a time that
- 11:57Speaker 2: he spent with family at the beach. He says Newport,
- 12:01Speaker 2: and I'm like Newport as an Orange County Newport Beach
- 12:04Speaker 2: in Orange County? Are we talking Newport?
- 12:06Speaker 3: Rhode Island literally have the exact same note, which one dude,
- 12:10Speaker 3: I need to know. He does live in La now,
- 12:13Speaker 3: so it's not out of the question that it was
- 12:14Speaker 3: in Newport Beach.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Did this man grow up around Orange County somewhere? No,
- 12:19Speaker 2: he said He's from Wyoming Penguins, Wyoming Penguins and Wyoming
- 12:23Speaker 2: good logan he has put.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I actually really like his fireplace with the sour strips,
- 12:28Speaker 3: nicely done. Brian likes his ice cream cone chimney, and
- 12:32Speaker 3: he has built that because fireside memories are a part
- 12:34Speaker 3: of his childhood.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Boring. I know, look, I think Gabriels was kind of
- 12:39Speaker 2: boring too, But.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Honestly, the only two that aren't boring for me are
- 12:44Speaker 3: Rustin and Robbie Well Angels touching, yeah, yeah, yeh yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 3: yeah agree.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Craig is next, and he proudly announces that his is
- 12:53Speaker 2: a nineties house. He does a wrap, which I'm kind
- 12:57Speaker 2: of impressed about actually, if he made that up like
- 13:00Speaker 2: them on the in the moment, I was kind of
- 13:02Speaker 2: impressed by it.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we're three for three on Bold choices though,
- 13:07Speaker 3: right right, we got Santini, we got him as Vixen,
- 13:10Speaker 3: and now we have wrapping his Christmas house moments.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah. The biggest tech takeaway for me was that he
- 13:16Speaker 2: said he was born in nineteen ninety one, and that
- 13:19Speaker 2: made me feel real old. I did like.
- 13:21Speaker 3: He made like that a cup a telephone cup game
- 13:25Speaker 3: with popcorn strings. Very cute, very cute. And finally we
- 13:29Speaker 3: have Marcus. Marcus misses the mark here. His house is
- 13:32Speaker 3: all about things that are important to his girlfriend, as
- 13:34Speaker 3: Jonathan points out, but tells us very little about who
- 13:37Speaker 3: he is. There is a hilarious on screen girlfriend bention
- 13:41Speaker 3: count nicely done to the editors of that one.
- 13:44Speaker 2: The best, the absolute best. I laughed out loud when
- 13:49Speaker 2: they did.
- 13:49Speaker 3: It, so great, And the best of Face Off winner
- 13:52Speaker 3: is Robbie.
- 13:54Speaker 2: My notes say, mother e f and Robbie again, Robbie
- 13:59Speaker 2: the Lobby two for two. I'm so happy for Robbie.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I guess he's not two for two, he's two out
- 14:04Speaker 2: of three, right, but two in a row. Yeah, Yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 2: so happy for Robbie.
- 14:08Speaker 3: We get a little bit of the guy's connecting before
- 14:11Speaker 3: we go to our star Quality challenge and we learn
- 14:13Speaker 3: it's a little incongruous because we learned that Marcus's mom
- 14:17Speaker 3: was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Yes, it's to me,
- 14:21Speaker 3: it comes out of nowhere because we didn't really connect
- 14:24Speaker 3: with Marcus's family in the festive face off challenge. He
- 14:27Speaker 3: didn't really discuss them, but he kind of explains that
- 14:30Speaker 3: this is what is going through in his life.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I think Angel inspired him. You know. Angel was talking
- 14:36Speaker 2: about like his mom being like a single mom, hard
- 14:39Speaker 2: working mom, and Marcus is like, yeah, my mom was too,
- 14:41Speaker 2: And then we hear that his mom was recently diagnosed
- 14:44Speaker 2: with cancer, which is like, oh that hurts.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, And the complete flip side of that, Angel's
- 14:52Speaker 3: like I'm ready to kick it into high ear and
- 14:54Speaker 3: Craig goes hit the NOS.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it was funny. I was like, what
- 14:58Speaker 2: is Angel talking about? Like he gave like a real
- 15:01Speaker 2: long explanation about like shifting into high gear and then yeah,
- 15:06Speaker 2: and then Craig with the NAS joke made me laugh.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah real fast and the furious real early two thousands.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Right, Let's take a quick break and come back to
- 15:15Speaker 3: talk about the Stark Quality Challenge. Well, it's dark Quality
- 15:27Speaker 3: Challenge time, and it's a cowboy Christmas Challenge.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Are you into like the cowboy thing?
- 15:34Speaker 4: Like?
- 15:34Speaker 2: Are you into Hallmark movies that have like a cowboy? Well?
- 15:37Speaker 2: The Real West was hot, Oh yeah, but Ride not
- 15:42Speaker 2: so much. No, maybe, is the answer to that question.
- 15:46Speaker 2: It depends. It depends.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Okay, Although, although I'm gonna tell you right now, this
- 15:51Speaker 3: to me was the best of the act who I know,
- 15:53Speaker 3: we've only seen two acting challenges, but the difference between
- 15:56Speaker 3: the Skiing Challenge and this one was night and day
- 15:59Speaker 3: for me.
- 16:00Speaker 2: You think, so why? I just I thought the guys
- 16:03Speaker 2: did so much better overall. Oh, the guys definitely did better,
- 16:07Speaker 2: but in terms of like challenge difficulty, I thought on
- 16:11Speaker 2: par with the Skiing challenge.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Yes, I agree with that. I just mean the guy's
- 16:15Speaker 3: performance was elevated.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I agree.
- 16:18Speaker 3: We have Alie Sweeney as our co star, and Jonathan
- 16:21Speaker 3: says she smarked her thirtieth Hallmark movie. That woman works.
- 16:25Speaker 3: She's made thousands and thousands and thousands of episodes of
- 16:28Speaker 3: Days of Our Lives and thirty Hallmark movies.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You know what I was thinking? She's not on the
- 16:33Speaker 2: Hallmark Christmas Cruise. No, she should be two years in
- 16:37Speaker 2: a row, like I feel like what I think.
- 16:40Speaker 3: There's a lot of big actors who are not on
- 16:42Speaker 3: the cruise, and I would I don't know how the
- 16:44Speaker 3: decision making goes.
- 16:45Speaker 2: There is Lacy on the cruise. No. Yeah, maybe they
- 16:49Speaker 2: just don't want to travel during this time of year,
- 16:51Speaker 2: which I understand. Interesting all right.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Robbie's advantage from winning the Festive face off is he
- 16:58Speaker 3: gets an extra five minutes with the horse and with Ali.
- 17:00Speaker 3: We don't really see that though, What are you talking about.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I think he used that five minutes before when he
- 17:07Speaker 2: was like talking with Ali and they were like talking
- 17:09Speaker 2: through the scene. I think that's the five minutes he used.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Does that make sense? Yeah, getting comfortable in the moment.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they were talking about like what the scene would
- 17:17Speaker 2: look like, and you know they didn't like we her,
- 17:21Speaker 2: So he didn't get an actual five extra minutes on
- 17:24Speaker 2: the on the horr Yeah, good point, good point. I
- 17:27Speaker 2: wanted to know if you caught the on screen title
- 17:30Speaker 2: card for the horse as the main actor.
- 17:33Speaker 1: No, m A and.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I did not. I was probably taking notes during that moment.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Shout out production. This is up there with the girlfriend
- 17:44Speaker 2: count ar too. I thought it was so damn funny.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Someone's just chuckling to themselves as they add these on screen.
- 17:52Speaker 2: What a job. I would love that job. Robbie does great.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I think Robbie nails his scene.
- 17:58Speaker 3: He feels so natural and his choice to whisper the
- 18:01Speaker 3: last line.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I was like, oh, yeah, go Robbie. Yeah that was good, right,
- 18:05Speaker 2: that was so good with those Andrew McCarthy eyes. Yes,
- 18:08Speaker 2: I thought it was so good.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Marcus is up next. He's never been on a horse before,
- 18:12Speaker 3: but amounts that horse like a pro. He has the
- 18:15Speaker 3: added challenge of his horse decides to back away from
- 18:18Speaker 3: Ali to the end of his scene, but he does
- 18:21Speaker 3: manage to deliver that final line, and then we get
- 18:25Speaker 3: the line of the episode from one Melissa Peterman. She says,
- 18:29Speaker 3: put a saddle on me, Marcus.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I mean, I was like, jaw on the Can you
- 18:37Speaker 1: believe I made the cut?
- 18:39Speaker 2: No? I kept comedy goal, amazing, amazing. I couldn't believe it.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Look shout out to Marcus because I'm scared of big horses.
- 18:49Speaker 2: And if i'm I've never been on a horse either,
- 18:51Speaker 2: And if I had to get on a horse, and
- 18:53Speaker 2: then my horse was walking backwards. He did a great job.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I think, so too handled it like a pro. I thought,
- 19:00Speaker 2: Davy's next. I mean he handles the horse. He was
- 19:04Speaker 2: really nervous too, Like leading up into it, He's like, oh,
- 19:07Speaker 2: I have to calm my nerves. I don't want the
- 19:09Speaker 2: horse to know what I'm thinking. You know what. He
- 19:11Speaker 2: didn't say that, but like that's the sentiment there is
- 19:13Speaker 2: that the animal can tell that you're nervous and it
- 19:16Speaker 2: can go rope south.
- 19:17Speaker 3: And his mom and grandmother have both been bucked off
- 19:20Speaker 3: of horses, so he has a little preconceived notion of
- 19:23Speaker 3: what this is going to be like.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Right, but he gets on his horse. He gave leading
- 19:28Speaker 2: men energy here. I thought, big smile. I thought he
- 19:31Speaker 2: did really well. He looked great, I thought. I thought.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I was like, oh, he's giving cowboy. I'm into it.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Melissa was like I'd watch this movie. But then
- 19:42Speaker 3: at the end, Jonathan's like, oh, he needs to find
- 19:44Speaker 3: his camera a little bit better, and I was like,
- 19:47Speaker 3: that's really interesting because he's looking at Ali the entire time.
- 19:52Speaker 2: So yeah, I wish I wish like during the scene,
- 19:56Speaker 2: like we could hear commentary from from Melissa and Jonathan.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, he's missing. He's not looking at his
- 20:02Speaker 2: mark or whatever it is. As a non actor, I
- 20:07Speaker 2: don't understand that stuff, so it would be cool if
- 20:10Speaker 2: they like pointed it out.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Yeah, Gabriel is up next, and Melissa really wants Gabriel
- 20:15Speaker 3: to have his leading man moment. I don't think his
- 20:19Speaker 3: is the most captivating performance of the day, but I
- 20:21Speaker 3: think he ultimately does fine.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You know what I you know what I wrote in
- 20:25Speaker 2: my notes cue the Chris Jinner You're doing amazing sweet
- 20:30Speaker 2: yeah for my couch, because I was like, you're doing it, Gabrielle. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 2: I love him. Sorry, I'm not sorry. Craig is next.
- 20:39Speaker 2: He looks good doing it. I thought his hat was
- 20:42Speaker 2: giving a little more like Australian outback. It's a cowboy,
- 20:47Speaker 2: but that's just the me thing. He flubs his lines
- 20:50Speaker 2: a little and he's struggling with some of the horse stuff,
- 20:52Speaker 2: but like he looks good and did well, Like he recovers.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he looks good on the horse. Once they're up there,
- 20:58Speaker 3: I think he does great. But yeah, stumbles, you're right,
- 21:01Speaker 3: speaking of stumbles. Logan's next, and Logan also struggles a
- 21:05Speaker 3: little bit with the horse, and it's just a lot
- 21:08Speaker 3: of dead air. During that moment, his horse keeps walking
- 21:11Speaker 3: away from him, and Melissa and Jonathan are like, just
- 21:15Speaker 3: say something, and I like, I get that that panicked
- 21:18Speaker 3: moment of like, oh, it's not going like it's supposed
- 21:20Speaker 3: to do. And I don't know how I'm supposed to
- 21:21Speaker 3: control this horse and I'm.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Supposed to I mean, I get it. Once he's on
- 21:25Speaker 2: the horse, I think he's great. The rest of the
- 21:27Speaker 2: scene goes well, Yeah, he wanted to make a bold
- 21:31Speaker 2: choice and he used an accent. Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I didn't like it didn't come through that much for me.
- 21:35Speaker 3: I said he was going to, but I was like, I.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Don't really hear it. Yeah, I thought accent light, Yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 2: like you could kind of hear it sometimes of an
- 21:44Speaker 2: accent A whiff, Yeah, exactly exactly. Angel is up next. Now.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Angel makes me laugh because he's like, this scene's going
- 21:54Speaker 2: to be pretty easy because it's a lot of flirting
- 21:56Speaker 2: and I can flirt. And I was like, okay, sir, okay.
- 22:01Speaker 2: He really ad libs a lot in his scene, but
- 22:05Speaker 2: it made me laugh when he calls her malady. I
- 22:09Speaker 2: was like, I honestly was like, no, don't call her milady.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Like that felt like old timy, but it made me laugh.
- 22:17Speaker 2: When he goes easy Piecy, I I love that, and
- 22:23Speaker 2: he's just like, it's okay, baby, Jonathan, Melissa, we're eating
- 22:27Speaker 2: it up. Yeah. I thought it was really funny. Now,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I don't know if you caught it. At the end
- 22:33Speaker 2: when he comes back in the house and he's like
- 22:34Speaker 2: playing it down to the guys like he did bad.
- 22:37Speaker 2: He's faking it. And then and then you know, he's like,
- 22:40Speaker 2: I'm a Latino cowboy. And I was like, put that
- 22:43Speaker 2: on a T shirt. We would buy it. Angel if
- 22:48Speaker 2: you're listening, get somebody to make you a T shirt
- 22:51Speaker 2: that says Latino cowboy Today.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Yes, Rustin's up and he lets us know that he
- 22:56Speaker 3: was once voted biggest flirt shocking. When he bounced the horse,
- 23:01Speaker 3: his hat flies off. Now, to me, this is the
- 23:03Speaker 3: moment where I'm like, oh, you got a choice here.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I think the choice is to ignore it.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Oh interesting, you just.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Gotta go with what's happening in the scene. And he says, oh,
- 23:15Speaker 3: can you get that for me?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Hun?
- 23:16Speaker 4: Oh?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't like the hun Huh? I don't I don't.
- 23:20Speaker 3: However, once he's on the horse, Jonathan and Melissa freaking
- 23:24Speaker 3: love it. And Melissa looks straight at the camera after
- 23:29Speaker 3: Rustin delivers his final line, and they're both like sweating,
- 23:32Speaker 3: and then we get the line of the episode.
- 23:35Speaker 2: You just got, Rustin, We did. I did. Look when
- 23:40Speaker 2: Melissa stares down into the camera, I was like, this
- 23:43Speaker 2: is Jim from the office, Like this is letting everybody
- 23:47Speaker 2: at home know, like we're all on the same page. Yeah.
- 23:53Speaker 3: In the deliberations, Alie seemed to really like Marcus and Angel.
- 23:57Speaker 3: She felt like Rustin stepped on her a little bit
- 23:59Speaker 3: because she says, he told me to get the hat.
- 24:02Speaker 3: She's like, I was already doing it, so it was
- 24:03Speaker 3: a little like pointing out the obvious.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but see that again is another like explain more
- 24:09Speaker 2: to me at home, Like how did he step on you?
- 24:11Speaker 2: I get that, like two things can happen at the
- 24:14Speaker 2: same time, going for it, him saying it you know
- 24:17Speaker 2: what I mean? M hm. He stepped on her as
- 24:19Speaker 2: like an actor in the scene, Like that's the explanation
- 24:23Speaker 2: that I'm looking for here.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Yeah, let's take a quick break and come right back
- 24:27Speaker 3: for the elimination case we're back, We're out of our flannel.
- 24:39Speaker 3: We're in the elimination cave, and I want to tell
- 24:41Speaker 3: you right here. My husband came in the room and
- 24:43Speaker 3: he was like, oh, that guy looks like a Hallmark actor. Oh,
- 24:45Speaker 3: that guy looks like a Hallmark actor. I was like, wait,
- 24:47Speaker 3: which one. So he paused on the guys and he
- 24:49Speaker 3: was pointing out the dudes. So he thought Davy, Gabriel
- 24:55Speaker 3: and Rustin.
- 24:56Speaker 2: M I said, that's very interesting. That's all I said.
- 25:00Speaker 3: In the elimination cave. And first of all, Melissa's all
- 25:04Speaker 3: white feather dress perfection.
- 25:06Speaker 2: She always looks good, looks so good. Whoever pulls the
- 25:09Speaker 2: looks for her does a really good job. They like
- 25:11Speaker 2: know how to dress her. She always looks great. Alie
- 25:14Speaker 2: starts off the elimination I think with a really nice
- 25:18Speaker 2: pep talk about you know, how audience want to connect
- 25:23Speaker 2: with the actor like they want them to feel confident. Right.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I just thought it was a great Like somebody who's
- 25:29Speaker 2: worked in the industry a long time, I thought this
- 25:32Speaker 2: was really good advice. And I like seeing that our
- 25:34Speaker 2: Homewark star is sharing advice. Anyway, I thought that was
- 25:38Speaker 2: a nice beginning before they drop the Hammer. Our winner
- 25:45Speaker 2: is Marcus.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Do you know.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I gotta tell you I was shocked. My note say
- 25:50Speaker 2: Angel was robbed? Oh you think so? See Look, I
- 25:55Speaker 2: know you're not a fan of Rustin. I'm not a
- 25:58Speaker 2: fan of rust In.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Rustin, I know I thought was the best interesting, interesting.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I thought Angel was too quirky. Marcus pc PC Marcus. Look,
- 26:17Speaker 2: Marcus gives such great face, and I thought he did
- 26:20Speaker 2: this scene really great. But I was like he was
- 26:23Speaker 2: a little bit in the middle of the pack for me. Yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 2: with everybody else.
- 26:27Speaker 4: So it's it's I need to hear more like did
- 26:32Speaker 4: you ever watch I need to hear like more like
- 26:35Speaker 4: backroom conversation about the eliminations.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I need I need. There's no way that they're just
- 26:41Speaker 2: coming to a conclusion on elimination in a five minute chat,
- 26:46Speaker 2: like are we talking? Like is there a murder board?
- 26:49Speaker 2: Like how are they doing this? What's happening?
- 26:51Speaker 3: Well, I want to talk about who was eliminated, and
- 26:53Speaker 3: then I want to talk about the elimination process. Okay,
- 26:56Speaker 3: So the bottom two are Gab and Logan, and they
- 27:00Speaker 3: say Gabe loses his confidence when the camera starts rolling,
- 27:02Speaker 3: like everybody loves him. Off camera but that camera starts
- 27:05Speaker 3: rolling and that goes away, and so they want him
- 27:07Speaker 3: to find his confidence, and they say Logan didn't connect
- 27:10Speaker 3: with his co star and they send Logan home. I
- 27:14Speaker 3: am heartbroken for Logan when he cries in his elimination
- 27:18Speaker 3: talking head. Can you hear the voice cracking in the voiceover?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I truly was heartbroken for him. Same he was not
- 27:26Speaker 3: ready to go home. I think can we talk about
- 27:30Speaker 3: the eliminations go ahead? There's been some uproar in the
- 27:33Speaker 3: viewer community about who's gone home every week.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Now.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I'm not ready for anybody to go home. So I'm
- 27:38Speaker 3: going to be sad no matter who they send home
- 27:40Speaker 3: every week. But my question is are we bringing in
- 27:43Speaker 3: past performance to the table, because to me, let's look
- 27:47Speaker 3: at Drake's elimination Week two. I didn't think Drake had
- 27:54Speaker 3: the worst photo shoot challenge moment. I thought he delivered
- 27:57Speaker 3: great pictures. But if you're looking back to episode one,
- 28:01Speaker 3: Drake also had that moment where he skied right past
- 28:04Speaker 3: Janelle and had to like climb back up the hill. Yes,
- 28:07Speaker 3: So I'm like, Okay, are we bringing that into the table?
- 28:10Speaker 2: Yeah? Are they using the entire challenges or are they
- 28:15Speaker 2: just using the one that's in front of them.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Because to me, if you look at Logan versus Gabriel,
- 28:20Speaker 3: nobody loves Gabriel more than.
- 28:21Speaker 2: You and I do.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I mean, I adore this man, but historically his performance
- 28:26Speaker 3: on the show hasn't been the strongest, right, especially in
- 28:30Speaker 3: the acting challenges. So if we are bringing in past performance,
- 28:35Speaker 3: why are we not bringing it here? My final thought
- 28:38Speaker 3: on this, and I think we talked about this in
- 28:41Speaker 3: another episode of the podcast, that Jonathan's looking for just
- 28:45Speaker 3: that unnameable special something that makes people want to watch
- 28:49Speaker 3: these actors, And I think there's got to be just
- 28:52Speaker 3: an element of them saying I think this person has it.
- 28:56Speaker 3: If we're putting these two against each other, I think
- 28:58Speaker 3: this person has the potential to have it.
- 29:00Speaker 2: More so, do you think that they should be more
- 29:03Speaker 2: transparent with that when explaining to us the viewers at
- 29:07Speaker 2: home what they're looking for, not.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Just well I want them at the end of this.
- 29:12Speaker 3: To me, it's like this show isn't really about finding
- 29:17Speaker 3: the best actor. The show exists for entertainment on its own,
- 29:21Speaker 3: and it's a nice bonus that maybe someone gets a
- 29:24Speaker 3: chance to act in a movie that they wouldn't have
- 29:26Speaker 3: gotten before. But that's not the ultimate end game for
- 29:29Speaker 3: the show. For me, the ultimate endgame of the show
- 29:32Speaker 3: is like it's entertaining to watch.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Right, right. But if you take it from like production,
- 29:38Speaker 2: like they're looking for someone who maybe is not only
- 29:40Speaker 2: just a good actor, but who fits who they think
- 29:44Speaker 2: they can sell right right, right, So there's a lot
- 29:48Speaker 2: of elements there. It's not just simply on acting, for sure,
- 29:52Speaker 2: and it's not simply on the challenges, correct, But your
- 29:56Speaker 2: question about transparency, I think if they were to say, like, yeah,
- 29:59Speaker 2: the these challenges are part of it, but ultimately we're
- 30:03Speaker 2: going to make a decision based on potential. Yeah, well,
- 30:07Speaker 2: I think people will go crazy and it is very
- 30:10Speaker 2: subjective and we only see a ninety second clip of
- 30:13Speaker 2: their acting moment, so who's to really say? I really
- 30:16Speaker 2: wish we would get to see the guys watching the
- 30:20Speaker 2: scenes that they filmed. M there are some like I
- 30:25Speaker 2: think America's Next Top Model used to do that, Like
- 30:28Speaker 2: if they shot a commercial, then the viewers would see
- 30:31Speaker 2: the viewers would see the participants watching themselves in the commercial,
- 30:36Speaker 2: you know what I'm talking about? Like I would be
- 30:38Speaker 2: interested in seeing like the final product Yeah, that's just
- 30:41Speaker 2: a me thing though, but like, what can you do
- 30:42Speaker 2: in forty five minutes? So yeah, did they show that?
- 30:44Speaker 3: Because going back to Drake, right, like he blocked Janelle
- 30:49Speaker 3: in most of his shot, he didn't come back on
- 30:51Speaker 3: his mark. Do they show him that? Like this is
- 30:53Speaker 3: what happens when you're not on your mark. We can't
- 30:55Speaker 3: see your co star space, so how much of that
- 30:58Speaker 3: do we see?
- 30:59Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know exactly. Speaking of fan reaction,
- 31:03Speaker 2: I got a text from my stepmom that was like, no,
- 31:07Speaker 2: not Drake. She was so upset and she was like,
- 31:10Speaker 2: actually my fave bottom, my fave two were in the bottom.
- 31:13Speaker 2: She's an Angel fan too. Oh that's so sweet.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Well, my friend Karen has started watching, which is so
- 31:19Speaker 3: funny because I was like, I really don't think this
- 31:21Speaker 3: is your kind of show, but she's watching and listening
- 31:24Speaker 3: to these episodes.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Hi, Karen. She was like, have you paid attention to
- 31:29Speaker 2: Gabriel's eyes?
- 31:30Speaker 3: And I was like, I've paid attention to everything about
- 31:33Speaker 3: gave me. She's like, well, the Entertainment Weekly article says
- 31:36Speaker 3: his daughter has blue eyes just like her daddy. And
- 31:39Speaker 3: then she sends me a photo of him and She's like,
- 31:40Speaker 3: Gabriel does not have blue eyes at all.
- 31:44Speaker 2: They're they're light What color are they? They're brown? Oh, okay, but.
- 31:47Speaker 3: They're very light brown, right, yeah, depending on the photo.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I found a photo of them looking very light brown,
- 31:53Speaker 3: but they are very much brown. That Entertainment Weekly article
- 31:56Speaker 3: also says that Davy was a Chris Hemsworth body double,
- 32:00Speaker 3: and I don't think that's true.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I remember hearing that from somewhere.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Someone said it while we were live tweeting last week's episode.
- 32:10Speaker 3: I don't think it's true because it's not listed on
- 32:12Speaker 3: Davi's IMDb, and Chris Hensworth has a body double that
- 32:15Speaker 3: he works with.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Oh, it would be on Davy's im right for sure.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think it's just an assumption someone made.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Let's message Davy and see if he'll answer us. Yeah,
- 32:26Speaker 2: let's do that. Why not?
- 32:28Speaker 4: Right?
- 32:29Speaker 3: Well, those are our thoughts on this week's Finding Mister Christmas.
