- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and with me is Luna. Episode 199! Luna: 199! That's a big number. And last episode we checked out of a hotel. Smooth exit, I'd say. Lucas: Right. But now what? We're out of the hotel, maybe we should do something fun. How about going swimming? Luna: Swimming! I love that. But I'd need to know how to say things at the pool in Dutch. Let's learn that! Lucas: Perfect. So first, you'd say: Ik wil graag zwemmen. That means 'I would like to swim.' Listen: Ik wil graag zwemmen. Luna: Ik wil graag zwemmen. Hmm, 'graag' is that 'gladly'? Like 'I would like'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Graag' adds a polite tone. Repeat after me: Ik wil graag zwemmen. Luna: Ik wil graag zwemmen. I think I've got it. Lucas: Great! Now, when you get to the counter, you'll need to ask: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? 'How much does a ticket cost?' Say it: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? Luna: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? That sounds like 'how much costs a ticket'? But careful with word order. Lucas: Right. In Dutch, the verb comes second. So: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? Your turn. Luna: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? Lucas, can I use this? At a museum too? Lucas: Absolutely. Very handy. Now, after buying a ticket, you'll want to know where to change. You ask: Waar zijn de kleedkamers? 'Where are the changing rooms?' Kleedkamers. Luna: Waar zijn de kleedkamers? That's a long word. kleed ka mers. Got it. Lucas: You're doing great. Next: Is het zwembad open? 'Is the pool open?' Zwembad is pool. Luna: Is het zwembad open? Simple. And if I have a bag, can I take it inside? Lucas: Good question! You'd say: Mag ik mijn tas meenemen? 'May I take my bag with me?' Meenemen is 'to take along'. Luna: Mag ik mijn tas meenemen? That's polite. I'll need that. Lucas: Let's do a quick practice. You're at the pool entrance. You say... Ik wil graag zwemmen. Luna: Ik wil graag zwemmen. Lucas: Then you ask: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? Luna: Hoeveel kost een kaartje? Lucas: And you want the changing rooms: Waar zijn de kleedkamers? Luna: Waar zijn de kleedkamers? Lucas: You check if the pool is open: Is het zwembad open? Luna: Is het zwembad open? Lucas: And finally, about your bag: Mag ik mijn tas meenemen? Luna: Mag ik mijn tas meenemen?
