Today’s Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, is celebrated annually on the Monday after Pentecost. It was officially added to the Church’s calendar by Pope Francis in 2018. As outlined in an address by Pope John Paul II, the Blessed Mother’s role as Mother of the Church can be traced back to four significant events.
