- 0:00Hi, this is Stephanie Maas.
- 0:02Any candidate that I'm working with today, candidly, they're looking at multiple opportunities and they're not always through me.
- 0:11This is just the state of the market today and hiring managers.
- 0:15You've gotta know it if you're looking at a good candidate.
- 0:19Statistically speaking, they are in high demand and they will have multiple options.
- 0:25This is an incredibly competitive environment for talent.
- 0:29More on that later.
- 0:30Back to the candidates.
- 0:31If you are out looking in the market again, whether it's passively, Hey, I've gotten a call from a couple folks.
- 0:38I've got a few aches and pains.
- 0:39I just wanna feel out what's going on in the market, see if I can better my situation.
- 0:43Or if you are in an active search where you are absolutely looking to make a change, there are some things that you need to know when you are balancing those multiple opportunities.
- 0:54The most important thing you need to know is how you.
- 0:58Not your recruiter, but how you manage this process will be a direct reflection on your reputation.
- 1:06You need to be extremely organized.
- 1:08You need to be very well prepared, and this is something you need to be doing throughout the processes.
- 1:13After every interview, you need to go back and say, okay, this is my piece of paper for this opportunity.
- 1:20Here's who I met with.
- 1:21Here's what I liked.
- 1:22Here are my questions, here are my concerns.
- 1:24Keep that going.
- 1:25So it.
- 1:25At any given time, you can logically and as objectively as possible be balancing where you would fit in best.
- 1:35It is so difficult when you are in a multiple opportunity environment to get caught up in who's the best recruiter.
- 1:43Who's courting you?
- 1:44Who's stroking your ego the most?
- 1:46And when you get caught up in that, it is highly likely that you don't make the right decision.
- 1:53Sometimes the absolute best opportunity.
- 1:56Isn't gonna be the one that does the best job recruiting you or has the best offer on the table, but if you're asking yourself the right questions along the way, you'll be able to get to the opportunity that's the best fit for you.
- 2:08Now, I know when I share this, there's another side of that is you may be interviewing and while you're interviewing, chances are there are other folks interviewing for those same jobs too.
- 2:17So you are in a competitive environment as well.
- 2:20But again, if you do your part and balance things out.
- 2:24It'll help you know, Hey, this really is my dream job, but even if I look at the second opportunity, it's not as good as this one, but gosh, it's still significantly better than where I'm at today.
- 2:37Sometimes it might be you don't get the dream job, and you've gotten so caught up in that, that you fail to see that the second opportunity is still a significantly better fit.
- 2:49Than your current opportunity.
- 2:51It takes some work along the way, and if you're currently employed, investing this kind of time and energy, it can be exhausting, but it's absolutely necessary to ensure that you make the right decision for you and your family.
