- 0:09Good, good, good, good. So now it should be fine.
- 0:14Yeah. Hello.
- 0:16Yes. OK, now I see it as well live on
- 0:20on on YouTube. Well everybody welcome.
- 0:27We are now live with Ilvana Shala.
- 0:29She is from Kosovo and she became very famous now with her
- 0:34visit to Vienna. Ilvana, I want to welcome you
- 0:37very much and please introduce yourself and we want to learn
- 0:41everything about you and what happened in Vienna.
- 0:43You are now famous in Austria and we are happy to have you at
- 0:46the show. Ilvana from the Republic of
- 0:49Kosovo, please explain us everything about you.
- 0:52First of all, thank you so much for having me and best of
- 0:55greetings from the Republic of Kosovo.
- 0:58As you said, I am Ivana Shala, the Goodwill Ambassador for
- 1:02Kosovo at International Human Rights Commission, where I
- 1:05officially represent the public diplomacy all over the world.
- 1:08And beside this, organized projects that has to do with
- 1:12human rights, specifically with marginalized groups.
- 1:15So my main activist is to represent public diplomacy of
- 1:20Kosovo everywhere in the world, including to the countries or
- 1:24organizations that does not recognize the independence of
- 1:27Kosovo. That are very unfortunate
- 1:29countries, and I'm also campaigning for them to
- 1:32recognize. Which countries are you focused
- 1:34on? Everywhere, I can say
- 1:37everywhere. For us as a new country, as a
- 1:39new state, it is very important to be recognised and we're well
- 1:43known everywhere in the world. Perfect.
- 1:46But you have noticed a focus because I focus on Ukraine, on
- 1:50Slovakia. I can say that I, as I said, I'm
- 1:55focused everywhere. Doesn't matter.
- 1:57The Kosovo is a very new country, so it is very important
- 2:01to be well known everywhere. Doesn't matter if there are
- 2:04there, they are big countries or small countries, it's fine.
- 2:09Very good. You had quite a success.
- 2:11Now when it comes to recognition, this year it was
- 2:14with I think Kenya. Can you tell the names of the
- 2:19countries which have recognized Kosovo this year?
- 2:22Oh, we, we had countries from Arabic as well that has
- 2:26recognized the the Republic of Kosovo.
- 2:29And as I have information from the from the President, we are
- 2:32waiting for the new recognitions as well.
- 2:35Oh, very good. That would be perfect.
- 2:36Yeah, we are all a big fan of the Mrs. President.
- 2:39She is fantastic and I hope that new recognition will come in.
- 2:43It was Sudan, it was Syria, it was Kenya this year three, I
- 2:48think. And that was a major success.
- 2:50Ivana, congratulation what you're doing.
- 2:53But you became famous now in all countries, in Austria actually,
- 2:57and. You want to know?
- 2:58Exactly what happened? Because you came to the cover of
- 3:01our News magazine and they promoted your profile because of
- 3:05your visit to the Austrian parliament.
- 3:07Tell us why you were in Vienna. OK.
- 3:10I was in Vienna in an official visit to represent Kosovo at the
- 3:140 Project conference, which is the biggest conference to speak
- 3:18about the marginalized groups, especially for people with
- 3:20disabilities. So every year we gather there at
- 3:23the United Nations office to discuss about the disability
- 3:27issues, and this was the first day at the parliament.
- 3:32It was my first day of this visit since I was chosen by the
- 3:36organizers to meet with the speaker of the parliament there,
- 3:40the Rosenkrans. And the idea what I why I became
- 3:43so famous there. It was because of the Barrett
- 3:46that I was wearing with the Utica symbols of course, in
- 3:51respect of my country, because on on that day was the
- 3:55Independence Day of Kosova. So wearing that Barrett didn't
- 3:59have any intention to provoke anyone as it was right into
- 4:03different medias. It was just to respect my
- 4:06country and my Independence Day there.
- 4:09Are you especially related to the Uchika?
- 4:13How do you mean especially? Really.
- 4:14Yeah. Your family was fighting or you,
- 4:16whatever. You.
- 4:17Yes, my uncle, my uncle, my uncle was as.
- 4:20We say a hero thanks a lot for his services to liberate the
- 4:25Republic of Kosovo. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:27But of course everyone of us is very much related to Uchika
- 4:30because we know that the Uchika has has done a lot on the
- 4:34operation of Kosovo. So nothing what is writing in
- 4:37the media that that are organization was terrorist or
- 4:40something or something like that.
- 4:42It's just a propaganda. Very good.
- 4:45And did you know that the Austrian President of the the
- 4:48president of the Austrian parliament is from a party which
- 4:51actually hates Kosovo? I learned it after when I saw
- 4:56all the reactions that have been made from the Serbs umbrella
- 5:01federation in Austria. So I learned in the after.
- 5:04But I think this doesn't have to do anything to be hated or
- 5:08something like that, because as I said, I am goodwill ambassador
- 5:11for Kosovo. I represent public diplomacy.
- 5:13And you know that in public diplomacy everything is possible
- 5:18to be done because I mean, we are not provoking anyone.
- 5:22Or it was, it didn't have any intention for that.
- 5:26So that's why I was a little bit surprised why so many reactions
- 5:30for nothing, since I was there just to respect the human
- 5:33rights, to speak about human rights and not to provoke
- 5:37anyone. But the Syrup Association of
- 5:40Vienna got very provoked. Yes, yes, I saw, yes, I so I
- 5:45mean it's not my business and it's not my problem if someone
- 5:49from Serbia or whoever feels provoked with the Barrett of the
- 5:54Utjaka since we know the truth. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 5:58And it was a war of liberation, a just war of liberation.
- 6:02And it was against the genocide which the Serbs have committed
- 6:05in Kosovo in 9899. And it was absolutely justified,
- 6:10courageous thing for you to do. And because in Vienna they live
- 6:13a lot of Serbs and they're very well organized.
- 6:15I heard. I heard Santa Saba Bowl in the
- 6:19January and then the 15th of February is the national day,
- 6:22the Sratinia Day of Serbia, and they have invited Mr.
- 6:27Rosengrantz as their main speaker, as their guest of.
- 6:30Yes, I know. And two days later, he appeared
- 6:33in the media with Ujika Barrett and Yourself and I.
- 6:38Understand, but I think as as a speaker of in parliament, he has
- 6:43to be neutral because Austria is one of the first countries that
- 6:47has recognized recognized the Republic of Kosovo and they are
- 6:52our best alliance, I can say. So that's why I was a little bit
- 6:55surprised why so many reactions just because of 1 Barrett, since
- 7:00Austria recognizes Kosovo and we have a very good relations,
- 7:04political relations. Absolutely, Austria is the
- 7:07number one supporter of Kosovo in many, many years and it was
- 7:10from 99 on and from 2008 we recognised very early and this
- 7:15is this Austrian state policy and it's also for Mr.
- 7:18Rosengrantz to respect. Unfortunately, his party is very
- 7:23close to Serbia and Hadzishtrache, the party leader,
- 7:26before he went even to Belgrade to talk against Kosovo and say
- 7:31they will never recognize Kosovo and it was very unfortunate.
- 7:35So you put yourself directly in the Hornet net in the absolutely
- 7:43it was. I'm very happy.
- 7:45I'm very happy of what happened because my main intention was
- 7:51that the voice of the Republic of Kosovo to be heard at that
- 7:55conference, especially at the United Nations and also at the
- 7:58parliament. And with that, Barrett, I was
- 8:01not forced to do any speech or something like that because we
- 8:04were everywhere. So this is this is public
- 8:07diplomacy. I can say this is a silenced
- 8:10public diplomacy. Very well done.
- 8:13I have to respect you a lot because you know, we in Austria,
- 8:16we have many Austrian politicians who work very much
- 8:19for Kosovo, like Lucas Mandel, Andreas Mini.
- 8:22I also try to do my best for Kosovo and Nietzsche's
- 8:26Nietzsche. Many of us are doing that.
- 8:28But it's very hard to to be in the top media with our issues
- 8:32because it's, of course, Kosovo is already free and there's not
- 8:36so urgency. And your meeting with the
- 8:38president of the parliament has put the Kosovo recognition and
- 8:43Kosovo friendship with Austria very much in the center of the
- 8:46Austria media. And thanks a lot for that.
- 8:49And also there were also many reactions day after when I
- 8:54appeared in the United Nations with the same Barrett.
- 8:57OK, very. Good.
- 8:58The mission, the mission of Serbia and the United Nations,
- 9:01they made also a very how to say big reaction by trying to
- 9:08politicize all the situations. Since I was since I, I, I sat in
- 9:14the media. We gathered there for human
- 9:17rights and especially for a very specific category like
- 9:20disability persons, and it had nothing to do with political
- 9:25issues. So that's why I was like, what's
- 9:27going on? I mean, when we speak about the
- 9:29human rights, liberty and the, the, the, your appearance is the
- 9:34main human rights that every one of us should respect.
- 9:38So it was like something went wrong with the Serbian missions
- 9:42there. So also in the UN, the Serbian
- 9:45mission, the state made a big scandal.
- 9:47Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. What happened there?
- 9:50It continued the whole week when I was in Vienna, with different
- 9:55reactions. Very good.
- 9:56What? So they asked also, they asked
- 9:58also the officials of the United Nations to remove me from the
- 10:03participation at that conference.
- 10:04But this didn't happen. To remove you physically, they
- 10:09ask you yes. Yes, they're going to bear this.
- 10:12This didn't happen. They made the propaganda in ex
- 10:16social media by saying we achieved to remove the Utaka
- 10:20symbols from the UN building and also the representation of
- 10:24Kosovo. But no, this didn't happen.
- 10:26I have removed the Barrett, of course, on respecting the
- 10:29organizers and to not cause any conflict inside of the United
- 10:35Nations building, but I was present there the whole
- 10:38conference. OK, but you still have the beret
- 10:41of the uchica? Of course, of course, of course.
- 10:46No, Wonderful, wonderful. It's just really great.
- 10:49And you know, you when will you come back to Vienna again?
- 10:52Because you have to come very soon.
- 10:54I will definitely, I still consider Vienna one of our great
- 10:58supporters. I have also very close relation
- 11:02personally with Austria since because of some of my healthy
- 11:07issues that I I have, I have been many times in Austria for
- 11:12the healthy conditions and this kind of things.
- 11:15So I still consider Austria one of our close friends and all
- 11:20this situation. What Serbs have done there
- 11:24doesn't make any difference from the Austrian people.
- 11:28Absolutely, Austria is standing with Kosovo 100%.
- 11:31You can be sure about it. Our institutions support you and
- 11:35you're very welcome in Austria in the future.
- 11:38And we make the event with you because now you're famous and we
- 11:41want to see you with the Uchi Cabaret and.
- 11:45I will, I hope and I would like, I hope.
- 11:48And I would like also to say from here that also to the
- 11:53Serbian people, please don't mix the human rights and public
- 11:57diplomacy with politics, since our constitution here in Kosovo
- 12:03says that we are obliged to respect the human rights of
- 12:07every community in Kosovo. And we do that.
- 12:10Even I, as an ambassador of goodwill for Kosovo, during my
- 12:15projects that I organized in the end of the year, the Serbian
- 12:18community are always part of my projects.
- 12:21So now in this case, it's not fair to make this kind of of
- 12:25reactions and to ask the UN or other other institutions of
- 12:30Vienna to remove the presence of the Republic of Kosovo
- 12:34everywhere in the conferences, since I think we have to be
- 12:38equal in this. Politics is politics, but human
- 12:41rights and are human rights, and we are obliged to respect each
- 12:45other. Let me ask you, the Serbs in
- 12:48Kosovo, the citizens who live there, it's about 5% of the
- 12:52population accordingly. And do they live with full human
- 12:56rights and citizens rights or are they suppressed minority?
- 12:59No, they they live with full human rights.
- 13:03And how is the Albanians living in Serbia, in Preshevo Valley?
- 13:06How do they treat them? Not the same, not the same as
- 13:10you saw. Even they didn't treat me well
- 13:12just because of 1 parrot. Here I see the difference.
- 13:15So if we are obliged with our constitution to respect the
- 13:19human rights of the minorities, specifically of the Serb
- 13:22community, I think they should be also obliged to respect our
- 13:26human rights. Politics is something very
- 13:28different. The Serbs have tried now for 27
- 13:32years to denigrate and talk negatively about the uchika and
- 13:36about the liberation. There's a lot of supposed
- 13:39scandals from the yellow house, from the kidneys and all these
- 13:43things which they have. Invaded, yeah, I want to stop.
- 13:45I think all of these reactions where exactly because of the
- 13:50hard process that is ongoing now and it is in the final, final
- 13:55decision and final process. So otherwise I think they would
- 13:59not react in this kind of way. What's your position to the
- 14:02court and to the former President Fauci facing a trial
- 14:06there? I believe 100% that he will be
- 14:14free very soon. I have criticized the court as
- 14:18being very biased against Kosovo because.
- 14:20Possible. I have a lot of critics about
- 14:23the court, but it's not in my in my competencies to speak about
- 14:28that. But what I can say is I truly
- 14:30believe in the war of the Utica that has done to, to, for, for
- 14:37the people of Kosovo, to protect the people of Kosovo.
- 14:40And I would like to believe 100% that Saatchi and the others will
- 14:46be coming back very soon in Kosovo.
- 14:49Was the war of Kosovo liberation a just war for freedom and for
- 14:53human rights? Yes.
- 14:57Very good of. Course, of course.
- 14:59I thought it was, yeah. And can you a little bit
- 15:02describe the Serb atrocities against the Albanians in Kosovo
- 15:07during 98 and 99? Because we are ahead of the 5th
- 15:10of March where they have killed the whole Yashari family in 89.
- 15:16And it was a terrible massacre and it started the Kosovo
- 15:19genocidal campaign by the Serbs. So maybe some words on that one.
- 15:24At that time I was very young, I was a child, 6-7 years old.
- 15:30So I think it's not again in in in my competences to describe
- 15:35everything, what happened. I think the whole World News
- 15:39what kind of a genocide Serbian has done to the Albanian people,
- 15:43especially in Kosovo. And there are no words that can
- 15:48describe more than all the films that have been have been done,
- 15:52all the recordings and all the things that the world has shown
- 15:58in the media and everywhere about this genocide.
- 16:01So, but I think now it's time for peace between the two
- 16:05countries. And since we are making also
- 16:08this dialogue for many years, it's time to stop this war,
- 16:12especially when we speak about the human rights.
- 16:15It's time to have peace between US and to let the things done.
- 16:21Should Serbia recognize Kosovo now?
- 16:23Yes, of course it's time. It's time to recognize Kosovo,
- 16:28yes. You see yourself as a human
- 16:30rights and peace activist basically.
- 16:33I'm a diplomat who works about the public diplomacy and of
- 16:37course as a human rights activist.
- 16:38Yes, since I said before coming in this position as a goodwill
- 16:42ambassador, I started working when I was 12 years old with a
- 16:46lot of local and international organizations defending the
- 16:50human rights, especially for marginalized groups.
- 16:52So after a work done 12 years for for 12 years, I became a
- 16:58goodwill ambassador in cooperation with the Ministry of
- 17:01Foreign Affairs of Kosovo and International Human Rights
- 17:04Commission. So this is my third term now.
- 17:07Very good. Mrs. Ambassador Elvana, I'm very
- 17:10happy that you joined the show. You're a very courageous woman.
- 17:13Please come back to Vienna with your Uchi Cabaret and we will
- 17:17make a event together. And we will also try to be in
- 17:20the Austrian Parliament again, I hope.
- 17:23And I'm not sure that Mister Rosenkranz will meet you again,
- 17:27because he got a lot of hammering from the media.
- 17:30And from his. Own party, I'm thinking.
- 17:33I'm thinking to I'm thinking to write him an official statement
- 17:37about all of this, since after the meeting I saw all the
- 17:42reactions and especially after what happened in the UNI was not
- 17:46aware that social media and all the medias in Austria are
- 17:50writing about me. But I first of all, I would like
- 17:54to let the things to be quiet a bit and after that I'm going to
- 17:58write him an official statement by explaining that nothing was
- 18:02to provoke anyone or even him. It was just with the intention
- 18:06to respect my country, my people and the independence of Kosova.
- 18:11Since also during the meeting I explained him very well that
- 18:15today is the independence of Kosova and that's why I'm
- 18:18wearing the spirit. And I also explained to him the
- 18:21meaning of the parrot. So his reaction was
- 18:25congratulations to you and your people and thank you for the
- 18:27good, good work that you are doing.
- 18:30Very good, very good. Mr. Rosenkant, he wants to be
- 18:33the president of Austria, so it has a lot of political meaning,
- 18:36this situation. Then if he wants to be the
- 18:39president of Austria, he has to be neutral in this.
- 18:45But I was yesterday on the 24th, I was at on Kosovo state
- 18:50reception where also your new foreign minister, but I didn't.
- 18:55Say I have to thank here, sorry for interrupting.
- 18:57I have to thank you also the Embassy of Kosovo in Austria,
- 19:01who were together with me the whole time and they tried to to
- 19:06help me in any way during my visit in Austria.
- 19:09Very good, but I didn't see anybody from F at the state
- 19:13reception of Kosovo. So if Mr. Rosenkantz wants to be
- 19:16neutral, he should come the next.
- 19:18Time not to be surprised at this time since the media in Austria
- 19:22are still writing about my appearance with the Uche
- 19:24Cabaret. So not to be surprised.
- 19:27I hope next year you will visit and honor the Austrian, the
- 19:30Kosovo National Day in Austria. Please, you should come and also
- 19:34in between when you are in Vienna, contact me and we make a
- 19:37event together with the Kosovo Community of Vienna, because the
- 19:41Serbs unfortunately think they have occupied Vienna and you
- 19:45operated Vienna from the nationalist terms we operate.
- 19:49Thanks a lot. This was.
- 19:50Great. Thank you.
- 19:52Thank you so much. I was very honored with all of
- 19:54your support. I saw all the publications that
- 19:57you have made about me during my stay in Vienna.
- 20:01And this means a lot not only for me, but for the people of
- 20:05Kosovo as well. We really appreciate not only
- 20:08you, but everyone, every citizen of Vienna, that is supporting
- 20:13the Republic of Kosovo and its people.
- 20:16Very good we do and we will. And Long live the Republic of
- 20:20Kosovo and Long live the Uchika. And thanks Ivana for joining
- 20:25this show. And all the best to Kosovo.
- 20:28It was my pleasure. Thank you so much.
- 20:31Thank you. I will stop now here.
- 20:35Very good. It was very good interview, very
- 20:37sympathetic. Very nice and great you did it.
- 20:41Thank you. Let's be in touch.
- 20:44Also in the future, when you come to Vienna, let me know.
- 20:47I will definitely now very friendly speaking.
- 20:49I was not aware for all the reactions that has been done.
- 20:54I was like, Oh my gosh, what's going on?
- 20:56I didn't do anything. Wrong.
- 20:58I was also not super, you know, because, you know, normally to
- 21:01make a selfie with a politician is not a big story.
- 21:04But this made it so, made it so big that it has turned into such
- 21:09a big story because of the political aspects, because
- 21:12Rosenkanz wants to be president and he relies on the Serb voters
- 21:16here in Vienna for his president's candidacy.
- 21:19And so now he has offended them. And so everybody was confused,
- 21:23and that was why it became such a big story.
- 21:26Oh, sorry for that. No, it's very good because I
- 21:30mean. But for us was really very good.
- 21:33I was really very happy because the idea was to make the voice
- 21:36of Kosovo to be heard. Absolutely.
- 21:38So I'm very happy that this silence diplomacy has made its
- 21:43impact. Absolutely, Ivana, the position
- 21:46of ambassador in Austria is free.
- 21:48You should. You should apply to.
- 21:54Speak this with the the minister of.
- 21:56You, they need you. They need you urgently because
- 21:59it is. I'll be not this very nice guy
- 22:01but he's only shasheed affair and they need a political person
- 22:05who is going in the media and you would be the perfect
- 22:08appointment. Thank you very much.
- 22:11Thank you. It's a pleasure to talk to you.
- 22:14All the best please. Welcome to Kosovo.
- 22:16Join us, one day I will, and let me know if you will be here.
