- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is Spoiled Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering One Piece nine fifteen through nine seventeen, Destructive, one Shot,
- 0:17Speaker 1: One Kill, thunder Bagua, a Living Hell, Loofy Humiliated in
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Great Mine and the Holy Land in Tumult, Emperor
- 0:30Speaker 1: of the Sea, Blackbeard cackles, cackles. In these episodes, there's
- 0:40Speaker 1: a whole lot that's coming together that I didn't expect
- 0:44Speaker 1: we would be seeing in one oh, in the one
- 0:47Speaker 1: O arc, I guess I should say, And now I
- 0:50Speaker 1: really don't.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Know what to expect. Welcome to spoil Me.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:16Speaker 1: very much to Florian for commissioning this episode. And Florian
- 1:20Speaker 1: is here in the chat with me today. Is usual,
- 1:22Speaker 1: lovely to have you, sir. Okay, So I know that
- 1:29Speaker 1: I do this all the time. I hope that you
- 1:32Speaker 1: guys will all just forgive me about this. But I
- 1:37Speaker 1: never in a million years would have been like, oh,
- 1:39Speaker 1: let's check in with me hawk and what's her name?
- 1:44Speaker 1: I always want to say, Pamela Parona, Thank you Parona.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I never thought we would be checking in with them
- 1:54Speaker 1: at this point, and I definitely did not expect that
- 1:59Speaker 1: we're going to be directly dealing with Maria again. Now,
- 2:05Speaker 1: for the record, don't hate it Maria. As much as
- 2:09Speaker 1: that arc wound up sort of ending in a way
- 2:13Speaker 1: that didn't feel fully like satisfying, I still have a
- 2:20Speaker 1: weird soft spot for it. And Maria's power is so
- 2:25Speaker 1: like creepy. I just you know, I don't hate the
- 2:33Speaker 1: fact that we're we've got him back.
- 2:35Speaker 2: In the mix.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And I will say too that there was something kind
- 2:41Speaker 1: of cute about how excited over this Pirna is. Like
- 2:48Speaker 1: I think there are times where I get myself. I
- 2:56Speaker 1: enjoy various things differently depending on who it is. So
- 3:01Speaker 1: when I say this, what I mean is there are
- 3:03Speaker 1: times that I've pointed out getting validation from friends in
- 3:09Speaker 1: a show versus getting validation from an enemy. Your friends
- 3:16Speaker 1: like you, Your friends want to encourage you. Your friends
- 3:19Speaker 1: are going to have a variety of motives for complimenting
- 3:23Speaker 1: you outside of you actually being good at whatever it
- 3:28Speaker 1: is they're complimenting you on. Forgive me the dog is
- 3:31Speaker 1: responding to somebody in my yard.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Who is working on the internet.
- 3:36Speaker 1: However, an enemy, if they compliment you like maybe they're
- 3:40Speaker 1: playing ahead game with you, it's certainly possible, but usually
- 3:44Speaker 1: that's like something that you really can believe that compliment
- 3:49Speaker 1: is real and mean something that said, when bad guys
- 3:57Speaker 1: have affection for one another, I don't know why, but
- 4:01Speaker 1: it's just like, really, I love it, you know. I
- 4:04Speaker 1: think it's because bad guy's just not giving a shit
- 4:08Speaker 1: about one another and just being like every man for
- 4:12Speaker 1: himself in like the greater sense as well, and not
- 4:16Speaker 1: having any sort of emotional ties to anybody. It feels
- 4:20Speaker 1: a little bit cartoonish. There's just something in that that like,
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's it's oversimplifying, and in truth, there's a lot of
- 4:31Speaker 1: people out there who do bad things, and still those
- 4:34Speaker 1: folks have people they personally care about and like so
- 4:39Speaker 1: having Pirona like see that Maria is still alive and
- 4:43Speaker 1: being so excited and just I can't wait to see him,
- 4:48Speaker 1: she literally says, as she's like I'm leaving now, I'm
- 4:51Speaker 1: gonna go find him now. I don't know why, y'all,
- 4:54Speaker 1: but I just really thought that was touching. There was
- 4:57Speaker 1: something in this that made me feel like, well, that's
- 5:00Speaker 1: nice that you know they like each other, that this
- 5:04Speaker 1: is a thing which I get in this headspace, right,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm like that's cute. And then what do I get?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Then I go to Moria and him being really glad
- 5:19Speaker 1: that his friend is still alive. Oh, I thought you
- 5:24Speaker 1: were dead for sure. I'm so happy to see you, YadA, YadA, YadA,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and then psych.
- 5:35Speaker 2: He's not really alive.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm just doppelganging. I know that Maria is a bad
- 5:44Speaker 1: guy and that him being upset shouldn't really get to me,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but I really thought that was a little too far.
- 5:52Speaker 1: That's a really cruel thing to do. That's fucked up.
- 5:57Speaker 1: There was no need except to just like enjoy the
- 6:02Speaker 1: cruelty of him thinking his friend is alive, only to
- 6:05Speaker 1: rip it away from him. I swear to God, what
- 6:12Speaker 1: the fuck, guys? Why this is the thing I don't
- 6:18Speaker 1: personally understand. I can understand being greedy. I can understand
- 6:24Speaker 1: wanting wealth, wanting power. I can understand even feeling like
- 6:29Speaker 1: you can sacrifice other people to get it and not
- 6:32Speaker 1: care because those aren't people you're close to. It doesn't
- 6:34Speaker 1: affect you. I get it, I really do. I'm not
- 6:37Speaker 1: like that, but I can understand it. But what I
- 6:41Speaker 1: can't understand is cruelty. That's just like for the fun.
- 6:45Speaker 1: That's one that I never have gotten, and it's the
- 6:48Speaker 1: sort of thing that leaves me in a video game
- 6:51Speaker 1: unable to like play the bad guy. Ever, It's there's
- 6:55Speaker 1: a lot of folks out there who are like, oh,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I love to play the bad guy because I can
- 7:00Speaker 1: be mean, but there's not the kinds of consequences for
- 7:03Speaker 1: it that there are in real life.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But I'm not.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Restraining myself from being mean because I'm afraid of consequences.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I find that being mean makes me feel shitty, and
- 7:20Speaker 1: so I don't want to do it in the first place.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And when I find out I've been mean unintentionally, I
- 7:28Speaker 1: really feel bad about it. Well, you know, there's obviously exceptions,
- 7:31Speaker 1: but nevertheless, so I just like if you had been like,
- 7:36Speaker 1: oh yeah, in the Wan Orc when they're on this island,
- 7:39Speaker 1: we're going to not only find out that Maria is
- 7:42Speaker 1: still alive, We're not only going to check in with
- 7:44Speaker 1: Mi Hawk and Pirona, but you're gonna be low key
- 7:47Speaker 1: defensive of Maria and kind of say what the fuck
- 7:51Speaker 1: to people being mean to him. I would not have
- 7:54Speaker 1: seen that coming, and I don't think I would have
- 7:56Speaker 1: believed you. And here we are. So it's funny like
- 8:00Speaker 1: that I also have to say, I don't understand what
- 8:09Speaker 1: the deal is with this lady's power that she can
- 8:11Speaker 1: be a double, but it's not the same as mister
- 8:15Speaker 1: two's power. I am almost positive we've had this conversation before.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So if so and you're listening and kind of going,
- 8:26Speaker 1: we've been over this, Natasha, I'm sorry. I don't remember everything,
- 8:31Speaker 1: as we've established many times, So if you want to
- 8:35Speaker 1: help me out and explain what the difference is, because, like,
- 8:40Speaker 1: from what I understand, mister two was able to fully
- 8:47Speaker 1: like transform, right, But is she just projecting an illusion
- 8:55Speaker 1: that looks like his friend, but if you like touched her,
- 8:59Speaker 1: you would feel that that was a different person behind
- 9:02Speaker 1: the illusion. Is that what's going on, mister two? I
- 9:09Speaker 1: can't remember. Does she she's able to like wear his
- 9:15Speaker 1: clothes and everything as well? Mister two, I feel we
- 9:20Speaker 1: have seen some transformations where he had the correct clothes on,
- 9:25Speaker 1: but I'm not sure if that was like explained.
- 9:28Speaker 2: As part of his power.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Florian says, we do not know officially, but one could
- 9:38Speaker 1: put it together by the animation when she transforms. Not
- 9:42Speaker 1: so important for now, but yeah, not mister two's power. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I didn't think it was mister two's power only because,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and this is honestly me having a lot of faith here,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I would never want to believe that would like have
- 10:01Speaker 1: mister to die off page and somebody else suddenly have
- 10:04Speaker 1: his power. Maybe he would do that to us, But
- 10:09Speaker 1: if that's true, I would.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Rather not know that.
- 10:15Speaker 1: That would be so heartless considering how much I love him,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I just can't accept that would be something that he
- 10:22Speaker 1: would do. So please, Zoda, if you're listening and you
- 10:25Speaker 1: haven't already killed him off, which I'm assuming you haven't
- 10:28Speaker 1: because you don't really like to kill characters. If you
- 10:32Speaker 1: ever do think I'm going to kill him off, do
- 10:35Speaker 1: me a favor and at least have it be a
- 10:37Speaker 1: big deal on page that I can say goodbye. I'll
- 10:40Speaker 1: hate it, so I think you shouldn't do it, But
- 10:44Speaker 1: I just want you to know that, like off, unforgivable completely,
- 10:48Speaker 1: So yeah, thank you. So anyway, like I said, I know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm starting from the end here, but the end is
- 10:55Speaker 1: like kind of in a way more interesting to me,
- 10:59Speaker 1: just because we yv wan oh.
- 11:00Speaker 2: And what we have in.
- 11:01Speaker 1: The first of these three episodes is more of the fighting,
- 11:04Speaker 1: which actually it's not that it's not interesting at all,
- 11:09Speaker 1: but it's uh, you know, it's it's for a while
- 11:14Speaker 1: more of what we saw last episode. I am so
- 11:23Speaker 1: I've mentioned before about how there was a new theme
- 11:26Speaker 1: song and how I wasn't sure how I felt about it.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Of course, like there are times where things just sort
- 11:36Speaker 1: of grow on you.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Against your will.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I can't tell if that's what's happened here, but I
- 11:41Speaker 1: do sort of like this theme song. But I try
- 11:44Speaker 1: as much as I can to simply look away from
- 11:49Speaker 1: the screen because you guys have warned me the opening
- 11:53Speaker 1: credits often will have spoilers. The one problem is that
- 11:58Speaker 1: this particular arc has like kind of a big spoiler
- 12:04Speaker 1: in the credits instantly, and if you go back and
- 12:08Speaker 1: watch it, you'll see what I'm talking about. Lufy's chained
- 12:11Speaker 1: to a wall, a prisoner, and it's the first thing
- 12:15Speaker 1: you see is like his wrist pulling away from the wall.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It happens before the pop up for me to click
- 12:23Speaker 1: skip credits, and it irritated the shit out of me
- 12:28Speaker 1: because I try so hard to be careful and they
- 12:30Speaker 1: really put it in a place where it was like
- 12:31Speaker 1: impossible to miss. But I trust it that like either
- 12:37Speaker 1: maybe this is more metaphorical, or this will be something
- 12:41Speaker 1: that happens early on enough that me being spoiled for
- 12:44Speaker 1: it isn't going to be too big a deal, which
- 12:46Speaker 1: it does seem is the case here. I the fight itself,
- 12:59Speaker 1: I know that I I said already that it's like
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'm assuming a lot of the advantage that Lufy has
- 13:06Speaker 1: here is due to Kido being drunk, and I maintain that,
- 13:12Speaker 1: But I will say that even drunk Loofy really manages
- 13:17Speaker 1: to do a number on this guy, much more so
- 13:20Speaker 1: than I was expecting. Like it's not as if Kido,
- 13:24Speaker 1: I mean eventually, like, yeah, Loufy gets got right, not killed,
- 13:28Speaker 1: but he gets got.
- 13:30Speaker 2: But Kido really.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Has to lock in. He's got to focus a little
- 13:35Speaker 1: bit more. I think he's just so used to being
- 13:38Speaker 1: able to take people down without even really having to
- 13:41Speaker 1: think about it that the fact that he has to
- 13:45Speaker 1: put forth any effort is coming as a surprise. He
- 13:49Speaker 1: came out here drunk looking for a fight, thinking that
- 13:52Speaker 1: it was going to be nothing, and I just am
- 13:59Speaker 1: surprised at how effective Loofy is. And I'm like, I've
- 14:04Speaker 1: already talked about this, but it is a little confusing
- 14:08Speaker 1: Kaido's whole thing is like he's almost invulnerable, right, Lufy
- 14:13Speaker 1: will punch him and he'll go down and it looks
- 14:16Speaker 1: like be knocked out by it. It's not like it
- 14:18Speaker 1: doesn't affect him. But what it seems is that he
- 14:21Speaker 1: simply can't actually be killed everything just eventually he will
- 14:28Speaker 1: recover from it, even if he gets injured, and pretty quickly.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So I think that in that sense, I see Kaido
- 14:40Speaker 1: is so intimidating and invulnerable that in a lot of ways,
- 14:47Speaker 1: a big part of me is like over estimating what
- 14:52Speaker 1: he'd be like in actual battle. Maybe he isn't a
- 14:57Speaker 1: great fighter because he doesn't really have to be a
- 14:59Speaker 1: great fighter. He just needs to wait until the other
- 15:03Speaker 1: guy is tired out because he will always be alive
- 15:07Speaker 1: in the end. And maybe that's all it is. Because
- 15:11Speaker 1: I've been crediting him as like, oh, Lufy, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: but Lufy better be feel unlucky. This guy is drunk,
- 15:19Speaker 1: although I don't think Lufy even knows that, but I'm
- 15:23Speaker 1: acting as if this is some sort of huge advantage
- 15:28Speaker 1: to Lufy. But maybe Kaido is just like resting on
- 15:33Speaker 1: his laurels a little bit, you know what I mean,
- 15:36Speaker 1: Like it's a weird comparison, but like there are times
- 15:43Speaker 1: where we can credit certain people. Let's say you're dating,
- 15:49Speaker 1: you're in the dating pool, and you are with some
- 15:54Speaker 1: money who is really really attractive, and you have sex
- 15:58Speaker 1: for the first time, and you're just like so stoked
- 16:01Speaker 1: because they're really really good looking, and you finally have sex,
- 16:06Speaker 1: and then you suddenly are like, this isn't even that good, though,
- 16:09Speaker 1: and you start to realize that, like, oh my god,
- 16:14Speaker 1: this person is too attractive for anybody to have told
- 16:19Speaker 1: them they're not good at sex, or for them to
- 16:22Speaker 1: have felt like they need to learn anything. So it's
- 16:25Speaker 1: this surprising development to find out that they kind of
- 16:29Speaker 1: low key don't know what they're doing because they have
- 16:32Speaker 1: never had to put effort into like finding a significant
- 16:37Speaker 1: other because they're so attractive and other ordinary people are
- 16:42Speaker 1: more interested in pleasing their partner, and some of that
- 16:45Speaker 1: is because they are trying to get people to stay
- 16:48Speaker 1: or be interested, and they aren't superhumanly beautiful, and so
- 16:53Speaker 1: they have to put some effort through there. So maybe
- 16:57Speaker 1: that's what's going on with Kaido, is that he's just like,
- 17:00Speaker 1: he is so tough that fighting isn't a priority. Learning
- 17:05Speaker 1: how to do all. It's just why would it be.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You literally can't kill me no matter what you do,
- 17:12Speaker 1: no matter how good you are, in the end, I
- 17:14Speaker 1: will still be standing here. So what do I care.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I don't even need to beat you up. I just
- 17:19Speaker 1: need you to tire yourself out beating me up if anything,
- 17:26Speaker 1: which is like kind of awful. Actually, like you know,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I was, really I was worried for Luthy getting into
- 17:35Speaker 1: this fight in the first place, and like, oh my god,
- 17:37Speaker 1: you're gonna get your ass kicked. But it's not even
- 17:41Speaker 1: really that he does wind up like breathing balls of fire.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It's a weird attack that's like different than the other.
- 17:48Speaker 1: He does a few things. There's like a breath that's poisonous,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I think, or at the very least like it does something.
- 17:56Speaker 1: There's a few different things that I can't because last time,
- 18:02Speaker 1: you guys, remember that I had the moment of thinking
- 18:04Speaker 1: Loofy has opened up like a new level of gear powers,
- 18:09Speaker 1: And it turns out this is just like an animation choice.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So I'm not entirely sure whether this is a animation
- 18:18Speaker 1: choice or if it's a actual demonstration of the power
- 18:24Speaker 1: being something very different. But I am assuming that it's
- 18:31Speaker 1: like the breath on What I was thinking, honestly is like, oh,
- 18:35Speaker 1: he's breathing like carbon monoxide at Loofy.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Which I don't think is actually it.
- 18:39Speaker 1: But when I think about somebody who can like breathe fire,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I am sort of thinking about the effect of like
- 18:45Speaker 1: fire in a closed area where there's not enough oxygen
- 18:48Speaker 1: and what can happen there. And then, like I said
- 18:51Speaker 1: about the weird fireballs, there's like three of them that
- 18:56Speaker 1: kind of come out of his mouth like separate from
- 18:59Speaker 1: each other. It almost reminds me of because like he
- 19:04Speaker 1: shoots them out one after the other, almost like bullets,
- 19:07Speaker 1: but then they form a triangle as they come toward Loofy,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and it really reminded me of like the UFO sightings
- 19:15Speaker 1: that people talk about where there's like three lights in
- 19:17Speaker 1: the sky. So his attacks are quite varied. That thing
- 19:26Speaker 1: that he did to the mountain earlier is he doesn't
- 19:31Speaker 1: pull that one out again, which I am assuming it's
- 19:33Speaker 1: like I'm gonna use like game language here of just
- 19:39Speaker 1: it needs some cool down time before he can use
- 19:43Speaker 1: that power again. He can't just go shooting off that
- 19:47Speaker 1: level of flame from his throat over and over again
- 19:50Speaker 1: because he will get really really worn out. That also,
- 19:55Speaker 1: I will admit, might be wishful thinking on my part.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Perhaps I just don't want him to be able to
- 20:03Speaker 1: do that, because I think that's a terrifying attack and
- 20:06Speaker 1: there should be a limit on it, because otherwise it's
- 20:09Speaker 1: completely op and what are we doing? Yeah, so okay,
- 20:17Speaker 1: there's a whole thing here with eventually Loufy, this part
- 20:23Speaker 1: that I was talking about where I was like, I
- 20:25Speaker 1: don't know if this is really something that's happening or
- 20:29Speaker 1: if it's just an animation style. But Loufy knocks Kaido
- 20:34Speaker 1: down and Kaido winds up transforming out of his dragon
- 20:41Speaker 1: form back into himself, and everybody is watching this with
- 20:47Speaker 1: a kind of awe, like Lufy really did something by
- 20:52Speaker 1: making him have to turn back. I don't disagree. I
- 20:58Speaker 1: think that probably this is a big deal, but I'm
- 21:03Speaker 1: not actually sure if it's what if it's like due
- 21:06Speaker 1: to Loofy, or if it's just Kaido being like, you
- 21:09Speaker 1: know what, I'm kind of over this. I'm done with
- 21:11Speaker 1: this fight. I don't need to do this anymore. Like,
- 21:14Speaker 1: is it that Loofy basically like hit him so hard
- 21:18Speaker 1: that he knocked him back into himself or is it circumstantial.
- 21:24Speaker 1: It's just that I'm sort of going off the faces
- 21:26Speaker 1: of everybody in the crowd who looks like really surprised
- 21:28Speaker 1: that Loofy pulled us off. And Kaido it's very funny
- 21:35Speaker 1: because he's so much bigger than everybody around him. So
- 21:39Speaker 1: once he's standing and he's around normal people, he looks
- 21:42Speaker 1: really really huge and intimidating. But for a second, when
- 21:45Speaker 1: he's on the ground and he has transformed back into himself,
- 21:49Speaker 1: he looks like so strange because his legs are really
- 21:52Speaker 1: short and that, you know, the way he's illustrated, his
- 21:57Speaker 1: legs are much shorter than the rest him. His chest
- 22:02Speaker 1: and his whole upper body. It's almost like, what are
- 22:06Speaker 1: those dolls, you know, the ones that used to be
- 22:08Speaker 1: super popular and then they finally went out of business,
- 22:10Speaker 1: Like a pop doll? Is that what they're called, you
- 22:13Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? And they have the giant
- 22:16Speaker 1: head and then the torso and body are like way smaller,
- 22:20Speaker 1: And that was sort of what I was thinking of here,
- 22:22Speaker 1: is just like he has this very out of proportion body,
- 22:26Speaker 1: and when you see him just laid out, he looks
- 22:29Speaker 1: weirdly like a little kid for a second, and then
- 22:32Speaker 1: it's you know, the camera pans up and you see
- 22:35Speaker 1: his mustache and everything, and you're like, oh, yeah, that
- 22:39Speaker 1: is not a child. But Lufie's standing over him and
- 22:43Speaker 1: has that red like smoke heat kind of radiating off him.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I don't know what to call this. He looks it's
- 22:53Speaker 1: a very different effect than we have seen before. It's
- 22:57Speaker 1: reminding me of watercolor painting because it's very lucent you
- 23:00Speaker 1: can see him through it, but also it's like he's possessed.
- 23:06Speaker 1: He is walking forward towards Kaido and isn't paying any
- 23:11Speaker 1: attention to Law because Trafaligar Law is behind him, trying
- 23:15Speaker 1: to get him to fucking lay off. Law. I think
- 23:19Speaker 1: has a more realistic understanding of Kaido and the fact
- 23:21Speaker 1: that like, yeah, you knocked him down, but this is
- 23:24Speaker 1: just putting off the inevitable and he is going to
- 23:27Speaker 1: get your ass and you had better use this moment
- 23:29Speaker 1: of him being unconscious to your benefit and get out
- 23:32Speaker 1: of there. But of course, loofy, that's not this is
- 23:40Speaker 1: so as I'm watching this, I'm trying to determine if
- 23:43Speaker 1: there is something going on with him, and there is
- 23:45Speaker 1: an effect or if it's just supposed to be that
- 23:48Speaker 1: Lufy is so enraged and this like red cloud around
- 23:54Speaker 1: him is simply meant to indicate that he is so
- 23:58Speaker 1: angry he can't let this go, and it's almost like
- 24:03Speaker 1: his rage has taken over his body. I will, okay,
- 24:11Speaker 1: Florian says, this is an animation thing to illustrate his anger.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I guess, all right, I'm gonna say this. I don't
- 24:23Speaker 1: like this. I think that this before before, when I
- 24:33Speaker 1: was like, oh, is this a thing, and you guys
- 24:35Speaker 1: told me it was just a choice, I was like, oh, okay,
- 24:37Speaker 1: I guess I can see that. But this time I
- 24:41Speaker 1: have to say that it is so persistent a look
- 24:46Speaker 1: and it is so overwhelmingly noticeable, like it's just right
- 24:52Speaker 1: front and center, that I think it's confusing, And especially
- 24:57Speaker 1: after coming out of nowhere when this wasn't the way
- 25:00Speaker 1: that we would animate before. If we are going to
- 25:03Speaker 1: do this, you guys need to ease into it a
- 25:05Speaker 1: little bit more and make me get used to it.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Otherwise I am always going to see this as something
- 25:09Speaker 1: that's very significant and an indicator of like an effect
- 25:12Speaker 1: or a buff or something that's happening. And I just
- 25:17Speaker 1: think it's a mistake to do something this dramatic that
- 25:22Speaker 1: is so impossible to ignore for so long, because it's
- 25:29Speaker 1: covering him in such a way that he is like
- 25:32Speaker 1: almost at times difficult to see, you know. So at
- 25:40Speaker 1: this point he activates his gear four fourth gear bounce Man,
- 25:48Speaker 1: and I'll say that he looks bigger in the bounce
- 25:52Speaker 1: man form this time than he has looked before. I'm
- 25:56Speaker 1: assuming that this is also an animation choice and not
- 25:59Speaker 1: like a changed to the ability, but it is interesting
- 26:03Speaker 1: to me that I won't he's nowhere near Kido's size, really,
- 26:06Speaker 1: but it does at least make it feel a little
- 26:08Speaker 1: bit less like out of proportion to each other. And
- 26:11Speaker 1: I do enjoy that. Lufy's in the air looking down
- 26:14Speaker 1: at Kaido and it's just literally like, you've fucked up
- 26:16Speaker 1: this country badly enough, and it's time somebody stopped you.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And you fucked with my friends, and that's that's that
- 26:27Speaker 1: on that, and he says kong gun and he punches
- 26:33Speaker 1: Kaido in the face and Kindo just takes it, which, again,
- 26:40Speaker 1: if you know you're gonna be fine, you would I
- 26:47Speaker 1: kept waiting for Kaido to do something to defend himself
- 26:50Speaker 1: that was like really terrifying in that moment, but he
- 26:54Speaker 1: just allows Loufy to punch him and watches him come down.
- 26:58Speaker 1: That's not to say he doesn't have an answer to this,
- 27:00Speaker 1: of course, but in that moment, I thought there was
- 27:04Speaker 1: going to be an unexpected like interference, something that he
- 27:08Speaker 1: did to like block him, and he doesn't do that
- 27:11Speaker 1: at all. So then we get the number of times
- 27:16Speaker 1: that punches him. I think we've even kicks him at
- 27:19Speaker 1: one point, and he's hitting hard enough that Kaido is
- 27:23Speaker 1: like sliding down the street. It's not like it's not
- 27:28Speaker 1: doing anything. The guy isn't justwithstanding at all, but in
- 27:35Speaker 1: reality he is withithstanding at all, even though he's physically
- 27:39Speaker 1: moving around. It just kind of gives you the illusion
- 27:41Speaker 1: that something is happening and it's not actually happening. This
- 27:47Speaker 1: is when Lufy activates kong organ Gun. This is a
- 27:53Speaker 1: new one, right. I think it looks crazy. I actually
- 28:03Speaker 1: really like it. It's all the hands coming down that are
- 28:05Speaker 1: like red and black because of the hockey activation. So
- 28:11Speaker 1: this is gatling Gun having been taken to a whole
- 28:15Speaker 1: nother level, and we get to see Kaido take that
- 28:19Speaker 1: as well, and all of the like there's like little
- 28:22Speaker 1: craters in his skin where the hands punch, but they
- 28:25Speaker 1: bounce back at again and it like nearly instantly, It's
- 28:29Speaker 1: like punching a punching bag. It doesn't do anything, and
- 28:33Speaker 1: he's just again getting moved around. And I keep watching
- 28:36Speaker 1: this and I'm thinking, like movies, punching and punching and
- 28:40Speaker 1: getting more and more angry. But I can't tell if
- 28:44Speaker 1: he is noticing that his punches aren't doing anything. There's
- 28:47Speaker 1: a sense of almost like he's so wrapped up in
- 28:51Speaker 1: his anger that he is just letting himself go but
- 28:56Speaker 1: not perceiving the reality in front of him, which is
- 29:01Speaker 1: that this guy isn't taking any damage. Eventually, it all
- 29:07Speaker 1: adds up to the he like shoves Kaido and makes
- 29:10Speaker 1: a crater with his body and Kaido is literally like
- 29:13Speaker 1: at the bottom.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Of this trench.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And again there's a lot of folks around who are
- 29:22Speaker 1: all watching this fight and going what is happening. Hawkins
- 29:30Speaker 1: has been off to the side like pretty much the
- 29:32Speaker 1: whole time and clearly was not prepared for the smoke
- 29:36Speaker 1: that Lufy was going to bring to this fight. But
- 29:40Speaker 1: there's also what's his face of the pink hair, who
- 29:44Speaker 1: is like, you know, after just having said there.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Are no.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Uh, there are no men of honor to come in
- 29:56Speaker 1: and help the oppressed, then he gets to be witness
- 30:00Speaker 1: to like Loofy doing this exact thing. And I'm sure
- 30:04Speaker 1: that this is going to be a moment for him
- 30:07Speaker 1: of just like, oh, there are people out there that
- 30:10Speaker 1: give a shit. There are people out there who are
- 30:12Speaker 1: willing to put it all on the line. Even if
- 30:15Speaker 1: one could argue the fact that Lufy doesn't do any damage,
- 30:19Speaker 1: like that's not really relevant, right, He's doing it. It
- 30:23Speaker 1: doesn't matter. It's the point of standing up, even if
- 30:26Speaker 1: you get knocked down, for the principle of being the
- 30:29Speaker 1: person who stood up. So this is when finally Kaido
- 30:36Speaker 1: stands and there is like lightning flickering around him. There's
- 30:40Speaker 1: this like red haze around him as well. That is
- 30:43Speaker 1: similar to what Lufy had going on a moment ago.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And also the effect of the image like waving in
- 30:51Speaker 1: front of us, the way that when you are looking
- 30:54Speaker 1: at something through a great deal of heat, the image
- 30:58Speaker 1: will like ripple.
- 30:59Speaker 2: You know.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's kind of cool.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Actually, I have to admit.
- 31:05Speaker 1: And Loofy sees that this guy has sort of like
- 31:10Speaker 1: I don't want to say, he's completely dialed in here,
- 31:13Speaker 1: but there's something different now, and he doesn't register or
- 31:18Speaker 1: care about that. So he sails forward to make his
- 31:22Speaker 1: attack with his King Kong gun yet again. But we
- 31:26Speaker 1: see Kaido actually moving here and coming at him, and
- 31:30Speaker 1: he says thunder Bogua, and he swings this huge mace
- 31:37Speaker 1: toward Loofy, crashes in like they meet, and it's like
- 31:43Speaker 1: the force of their opposing trajectories collide and create almost
- 31:51Speaker 1: like a what's the word I want? I can't think
- 31:57Speaker 1: of the word. There's like it's it's like a ripple
- 32:00Speaker 1: effect around them, you know, for a second. And then
- 32:03Speaker 1: we see a bunch of blood come out of Lufy's
- 32:08Speaker 1: mouth and he goes flying through a castle wall and
- 32:15Speaker 1: Kaido is just literally standing there with his mace that's
- 32:18Speaker 1: like flickering with purple lightning. Essentially, he hits Lufy so
- 32:25Speaker 1: far that Lufy goes back out into like the slums area.
- 32:30Speaker 1: And I just want to point out that this was
- 32:35Speaker 1: one single hit while he was drunk and just took
- 32:41Speaker 1: a beating that would kill an ordinary person a few
- 32:44Speaker 1: times over. I mean, yikes, shock wave, says Florian for
- 32:54Speaker 1: the word I was searching for before. I think you're right, Florian,
- 32:57Speaker 1: I think that is exactly the word I wanted. Yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: this is terrifying. It's and Lufy like he's laying there
- 33:09Speaker 1: with the white eyes, which I was always like. I
- 33:13Speaker 1: always had trouble with what this meant when I was
- 33:17Speaker 1: first covering the show, and there were a few times
- 33:20Speaker 1: that I took the whited out eyes as an indicator
- 33:22Speaker 1: that somebody was dead. Now I understand that it usually
- 33:25Speaker 1: just means that somebody is unconscious. But yeah, he really
- 33:32Speaker 1: laid Loofy out with one hit, and it is really
- 33:38Speaker 1: kind of pitiful to watch after everything that Loofy did.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I mean, you know, so at this point Law, and
- 33:47Speaker 1: I'll also mention guys, the choices and animation kind of
- 33:52Speaker 1: come into effect here again where everything that was happening
- 33:55Speaker 1: here in this fight, it looked like it was nighttime.
- 34:00Speaker 1: But once Lufy is knocked out and we kind of
- 34:03Speaker 1: come back to Law, who's watching all of a sudden
- 34:05Speaker 1: blue sky's daylight. I don't like this either. I don't
- 34:10Speaker 1: like this choice that the animators are making that every
- 34:13Speaker 1: time there's a big fight, it's suddenly going to be
- 34:17Speaker 1: dark out. I think that they're doing this because there's
- 34:19Speaker 1: a lot of light and electrical you know, there's effects
- 34:23Speaker 1: that look cooler in a dark background, and so they
- 34:26Speaker 1: really want to show that off. But I assert you
- 34:32Speaker 1: can animate in such a way that there is a
- 34:34Speaker 1: darkness around the character temporarily when those effects are happening,
- 34:38Speaker 1: so as we can see them, and then fade that
- 34:42Speaker 1: out and make it clear it's still daytime. I just
- 34:44Speaker 1: find it very jarring, you know, And this is the
- 34:47Speaker 1: first arc that I've really noticed this being such a thing,
- 34:50Speaker 1: But it was happening earlier as well, And at the
- 34:53Speaker 1: time I was putting that down to Hawkins's weird like
- 34:58Speaker 1: straw demon guy out the sun because he's so big,
- 35:03Speaker 1: and now it seems like it's just what they're doing
- 35:05Speaker 1: during fights, which is way less interesting. So at this point,
- 35:13Speaker 1: Trevowler Law says something to Lufy. He doesn't say to him,
- 35:16Speaker 1: but he says about him, you useless idiot. And as
- 35:24Speaker 1: much as a part of me wanted to be like useless,
- 35:28Speaker 1: I then immediately kind of caught myself and I was like,
- 35:31Speaker 1: he may have a point. He may have a point,
- 35:33Speaker 1: because what did Lufy really accomplish here except to get
- 35:36Speaker 1: himself knocked out. Kaito's not hurt, nothing's changed, He's fine,
- 35:43Speaker 1: So I don't know, maybe calling him useless is kind
- 35:45Speaker 1: of fair. Actually I hate it, Like you know, I
- 35:49Speaker 1: just look.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I don't really like law.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I think he's got a really bad attitude. And if
- 35:56Speaker 1: his power is cool and everything, but that's not enough
- 35:59Speaker 1: for me to like him. So I don't want to
- 36:01Speaker 1: take his side on things, really, But there's just a
- 36:05Speaker 1: point where you've got to admit that somebody does is
- 36:10Speaker 1: calling out correctly what's happening. So he's about to get
- 36:15Speaker 1: Loofy out of there, and he activates room and starts
- 36:20Speaker 1: to say shambles, and then all of a sudden, what
- 36:24Speaker 1: and he falls down and his.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Power doesn't work.
- 36:28Speaker 1: We find out that these are sea stone nails. We
- 36:37Speaker 1: don't have guns in this universe. It's not like we
- 36:41Speaker 1: do have guns. I'm sorry, I completely lied, but what
- 36:46Speaker 1: I'm saying is like, usually there are people who have
- 36:50Speaker 1: devil fruit powers.
- 36:52Speaker 2: They don't also use guns.
- 36:54Speaker 1: The devil fruit people use their power to fight, and
- 36:59Speaker 1: they don't rely on weapons unless the weapons are sort
- 37:02Speaker 1: of tied in with their weird power, like Frankie as
- 37:05Speaker 1: a cyborg he's not a devil fruit guy, but you
- 37:08Speaker 1: get what I'm saying. I this, like I'm assuming, is
- 37:15Speaker 1: sort of a play on what Hawkins already has going
- 37:18Speaker 1: on with his weird nails for the voodoo doll thingies.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I am really into this idea. It's extremely practical, effective
- 37:31Speaker 1: and frightening, but also kind of easily replicable by other
- 37:40Speaker 1: people as well, which is a big plus for me.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Where it's like they figured out something and it's a
- 37:49Speaker 1: weapon that we have to worry about, but when you
- 37:53Speaker 1: stop and think about it, we could also turn this.
- 37:56Speaker 2: To our advantage. And I am so.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Curious if the Seastone Prism is this effective with just
- 38:06Speaker 1: a tiny bit, is it possible to actually kill Kaido
- 38:11Speaker 1: if he's been shot with one of these? Is because
- 38:16Speaker 1: I know that it makes you weak, it makes you
- 38:18Speaker 1: unable to access your powers. I'm not totally clear on
- 38:23Speaker 1: whether or not Seastone Prism totally sort of removes all
- 38:28Speaker 1: of your devil fruit attributes. Would it make Kaido just
- 38:34Speaker 1: like a normal guy, or would it just make it
- 38:38Speaker 1: so that he can't turn into a dragon but he's
- 38:41Speaker 1: still like basically invulnerable. I think I'm trying to think
- 38:46Speaker 1: exactly how things worked with Loofy, like when he's been
- 38:50Speaker 1: in shackles made of seastone prism. I can't remember if
- 38:53Speaker 1: they were able to like cut him or show, you
- 38:55Speaker 1: know what I mean, like if his body was still
- 38:58Speaker 1: pretty much rubber throughout or not. I'm trying to remember.
- 39:02Speaker 2: I can't remember, so.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Anyway, Like I said, I really like the idea of
- 39:08Speaker 1: this thing, especially in light of the fact that Kaido
- 39:12Speaker 1: feels so overwhelming as an enemy. But we could potentially
- 39:18Speaker 1: do something to remove the intensity of his his powers,
- 39:25Speaker 1: his invulnerability. It is a little bit tropy for it
- 39:34Speaker 1: to be like, oh, we use the weapon the enemy
- 39:36Speaker 1: is created against the enemy. I understand that some folks
- 39:40Speaker 1: might kind of roll their eyes because it is such
- 39:44Speaker 1: a trope, but it's hard for me to get mad
- 39:46Speaker 1: about it, you know what I mean. It's a trope
- 39:49Speaker 1: for a reason, because it's kind of fun. It feels
- 39:51Speaker 1: like poetic justice and law here, Like he has no
- 39:59Speaker 1: means of defending himself. He got shot in sort of
- 40:02Speaker 1: the back of his arm in a way that it
- 40:06Speaker 1: takes him a second to really even understand what's happening.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Once he figures out where the nail is, he inks
- 40:13Speaker 1: it out and he is able to shambles himself write
- 40:16Speaker 1: the fuck out of there. I couldn't help but giggle
- 40:19Speaker 1: a little bit because Hawkins, like after law vanishes. I
- 40:26Speaker 1: think Hawkins says something like that ability of yours is
- 40:29Speaker 1: a real nuisance, and I just thought that was it's
- 40:33Speaker 1: such an understatement, you know what I mean, it's a nuisance.
- 40:37Speaker 1: You mean that it's a fucking game changer, and you
- 40:39Speaker 1: don't like being able to defend themselves factually correct. So
- 40:46Speaker 1: at this point kind of walks over to Lufy's body
- 40:51Speaker 1: and looks down at him, and he says to his men,
- 40:58Speaker 1: pick him up and get him mad. Here he's obviously
- 41:04Speaker 1: feeling a bit of a way at how Lufy was
- 41:09Speaker 1: able to I don't know if it counts as like,
- 41:13Speaker 1: are you humiliated when you didn't actually take any damage
- 41:18Speaker 1: and everybody knows that you're just like sustaining all of this.
- 41:25Speaker 1: There are some people who, as if they are in charge,
- 41:28Speaker 1: they feel that it's very very important to their overall
- 41:31Speaker 1: reputation for nobody to ever see them get beaten or
- 41:37Speaker 1: taken down, you know, anything like that, and they feel
- 41:40Speaker 1: like if that mask falls, then they've kind of lost
- 41:47Speaker 1: the respect of their people and getting that back is
- 41:49Speaker 1: really really hard, and I'm unsure whether or not that
- 41:54Speaker 1: is something that applies here. Kiedro doesn't. He seems mad
- 41:58Speaker 1: that Lufy beat him, but he doesn't seem like embarrassed
- 42:02Speaker 1: or anxious about it, So I don't think that's something
- 42:06Speaker 1: that he has to really like be worried about. The
- 42:14Speaker 1: way that I was interpreting this to begin with was like,
- 42:18Speaker 1: is he angry because of how Lufy humiliated him in
- 42:22Speaker 1: front of people? But I actually think maybe that's just
- 42:25Speaker 1: like that didn't happen, because what did he do. Lufy
- 42:28Speaker 1: beat the shit out of him for a minute, and
- 42:30Speaker 1: then he was fine, and then he just punches Louvi
- 42:34Speaker 1: out with one single punch. If anything, that's probably boosting
- 42:37Speaker 1: his reputation, I guess right. So next episode is Loofy
- 42:50Speaker 1: getting carried off by the henchman. Kaido turns back into
- 42:56Speaker 1: a dragon and laments the fact that he has sobered
- 42:59Speaker 1: up and he is going to go back to drinking.
- 43:02Speaker 1: So he's in the air, flying away, just wanting to
- 43:05Speaker 1: party a little bit more. Uh Shu ten Maru, that's
- 43:10Speaker 1: the name of the guy. He is off to the side,
- 43:12Speaker 1: just like watching and wondering who Louviy is. And then
- 43:18Speaker 1: we go over to Trafalgar Law, who, despite the fact
- 43:21Speaker 1: that he was able to get that nail out of
- 43:26Speaker 1: him and utilize his abilities enough to escape, it seems
- 43:32Speaker 1: like maybe a little bit of that is still in
- 43:36Speaker 1: his system because he is struggling to stay upright, he's wheezing,
- 43:42Speaker 1: you know. It seems like it's a problem. What I
- 43:47Speaker 1: kept wondering regarding this, what happens if you feed a
- 43:57Speaker 1: devil fruit user something that's got the sea prism stone
- 44:05Speaker 1: ground up very fine in the food I am. I
- 44:13Speaker 1: am really curious about that. There's like you could potentially
- 44:19Speaker 1: simply digest it and shit it out and be fine afterwards.
- 44:23Speaker 1: But if you wanted to write it that it sort
- 44:27Speaker 1: of stays in your system for even longer, I wouldn't
- 44:29Speaker 1: be mad about it. I also keep thinking about like
- 44:32Speaker 1: in True Blood, eventually they come up with this thing
- 44:35Speaker 1: to handle vampires where they get an intravenous ivy of
- 44:42Speaker 1: liquid silver, and in the book that basically will kill
- 44:49Speaker 1: you if you're a vampire. It's almost impossible to get
- 44:52Speaker 1: it back out of your system once it's in your bloodstream.
- 44:55Speaker 1: I don't know if that would even be something that
- 45:00Speaker 1: could work in this you know, because like devil fruit
- 45:03Speaker 1: users are still it's a weird thing where they still
- 45:06Speaker 1: have blood, they still function in certain ways like humans.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:13Speaker 1: I am curious about that though. So anyway, Trafalgar is
- 45:19Speaker 1: sitting there and he's thinking what's next and is thinking
- 45:23Speaker 1: about We have like a flashback of poor Beppo who
- 45:27Speaker 1: is saying Captain help as he just you know, that
- 45:31Speaker 1: white light of the dragonfire seems to tear through him,
- 45:36Speaker 1: and I was just like, oh, Pepo, I really felt
- 45:42Speaker 1: for him in that moment. I just I don't know.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Peppo is just a very a weirdly adorable character to
- 45:50Speaker 1: only drop in here and there and have him like
- 45:53Speaker 1: he doesn't usually really even do very much, but he
- 45:56Speaker 1: doesn't have to because he's so cute, Like who cares.
- 46:02Speaker 1: We go over to Hawkins at this point and there
- 46:05Speaker 1: the uh he's asking his men whether or not they
- 46:09Speaker 1: have tracked down Trafalgar law and they're like, no, he
- 46:13Speaker 1: is nowhere around here, so he must have been moving
- 46:16Speaker 1: really really fast. Then we have a weird cut over.
- 46:23Speaker 1: We go to Kinemon, who is sneaking peaks at his
- 46:31Speaker 1: wife who is, as he puts it, unchanged after twenty
- 46:36Speaker 1: years she still looks amazing. I very much like roll
- 46:46Speaker 1: my eyes when a woman character is meant to have.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Like not aged at all.
- 46:51Speaker 1: This is something I absolutely adore the first four seasons
- 46:56Speaker 1: of Vikings, but it is hilarious. Compare the way that
- 47:00Speaker 1: they let Ragnar Lothbrook age like versus his wife, who
- 47:05Speaker 1: looks almost identical in the fourth season as she did
- 47:09Speaker 1: in the first season, even though it's supposed to be
- 47:11Speaker 1: like twenty years of past. You know, But it's fine,
- 47:15Speaker 1: it's not a big deal. I just felt like I
- 47:17Speaker 1: wanted to mention that in the light of the way
- 47:19Speaker 1: that this is often played because women don't get to age.
- 47:22Speaker 1: But that's okay, it's we're gonna go over now.
- 47:26Speaker 2: To what is her name?
- 47:29Speaker 1: Utiko? What is the name of the woman Samurai? She's
- 47:36Speaker 1: out looking for any survivors. As it turns out, they're
- 47:41Speaker 1: all okay, Okiku, Okiku. That's it. Uh I do love son.
- 47:51Speaker 1: She just like, of course save me with his big
- 47:53Speaker 1: heart eyes.
- 47:54Speaker 2: He is so annoying.
- 47:59Speaker 1: This like everybody being alive. This is the sort of
- 48:04Speaker 1: thing that, like back in the day, I would really
- 48:08Speaker 1: get annoyed, and I still see where that would be
- 48:13Speaker 1: coming from the whole power that we see Kaido as
- 48:18Speaker 1: such a threat. He does this insane thing, but then
- 48:22Speaker 1: literally nobody is even hurt, right, Everybody is fine, And yes,
- 48:30Speaker 1: to a degree, there is a part of me that's
- 48:33Speaker 1: just like, then this power means nothing. But I've reached
- 48:40Speaker 1: a place now with one piece.
- 48:44Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Of course they're fine.
- 48:50Speaker 1: What do I want them to die?
- 48:51Speaker 2: I know I don't want that.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I want steaks. Sure, there is a part of me
- 48:58Speaker 1: that's still occasionally just be like, it would be nice
- 49:01Speaker 1: if something really like mattered, But Kaido is making people suffer.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Kaido is himself and vulnerable. He's still intimidating. Even if
- 49:12Speaker 1: his power doesn't actually work like a nuke, he's still
- 49:18Speaker 1: a formidable foe. And so it's fine. Yeah, it's you know,
- 49:25Speaker 1: like there's just there are times when I really I
- 49:34Speaker 1: just think about a lot, like the way that my
- 49:36Speaker 1: attitude about this show has changed over time because of
- 49:41Speaker 1: things that I've like either straight up lightened up about
- 49:46Speaker 1: or I just kind of get a little bit better
- 49:50Speaker 1: what exactly it is that we're doing here. And then
- 49:54Speaker 1: there are going to be things that I still feel
- 49:56Speaker 1: exactly the same about, which is that most of these
- 49:59Speaker 1: women in this show do look identical.
- 50:04Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 50:05Speaker 1: It's just not something that I feel like wasting energy
- 50:07Speaker 1: being irritated about. I want my friends to be good
- 50:10Speaker 1: and fine and healthy.
- 50:12Speaker 2: It's fine, So.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Florian says, Also, I love Shinobu's power in action and
- 50:20Speaker 1: to see her save the day. This is the other
- 50:23Speaker 1: So it is so weird, you guys. We find out
- 50:29Speaker 1: the way that she phrases it is hilariously quite different.
- 50:34Speaker 1: They're in this really deep sinkhole, and it turns out
- 50:40Speaker 1: that her power is when she touches something, it begins
- 50:46Speaker 1: to rot and decay like very quickly. It's uh, it
- 50:53Speaker 1: just accelerates aging essentially. But you know the way that
- 50:59Speaker 1: she phrased is that she makes things more mature, and
- 51:04Speaker 1: it's not until later. Let's see, it's a ripe ripe
- 51:08Speaker 1: fruit is the way that she describes it. And she
- 51:12Speaker 1: was the one who made this whole sinkhole happen. I
- 51:17Speaker 1: love getting to see also that Chopper uses his ability
- 51:21Speaker 1: to blow himself up like a ball, and he essentially
- 51:24Speaker 1: makes himself into a cork that plugs this hole so
- 51:28Speaker 1: that they don't just keep plummeting to the center of
- 51:31Speaker 1: the earth. You know, anytime Chopper gets to like, really
- 51:37Speaker 1: fucking do something, it's fantastic. But yeah, my jutsu causes
- 51:43Speaker 1: anything that I touched to ripen suddenly or become more mature,
- 51:48Speaker 1: one might say. And this is when Okiku says, indeed,
- 51:55Speaker 1: everything that she touches will spoil and rot away, and
- 51:59Speaker 1: she just gets very irritated about that, being the waves described,
- 52:04Speaker 1: which is fair. I think she's made it quite clear
- 52:07Speaker 1: how she feels about aging. And Sanji asks, do you
- 52:15Speaker 1: know what happened to Lufy? Everybody's like, it looked like
- 52:18Speaker 1: he was about to fight Kaido, but that's insane, and
- 52:24Speaker 1: she says, prepare yourselves and listen, and we cut away
- 52:29Speaker 1: from them over to Dogstorm, who has found O Tama.
- 52:35Speaker 1: She is alive, of course, she is injured, and Dogstorm
- 52:40Speaker 1: is really fucking pissed at the fact that Kaido would
- 52:45Speaker 1: hurt a child in this way. It's just like, are
- 52:49Speaker 1: you fucking you have? There are there no depths to
- 52:52Speaker 1: which you will not fall. We cut from there to Lufy,
- 52:58Speaker 1: who has been manacled by the wrists and is being
- 53:02Speaker 1: dragged to this like prison work camp behind the horses,
- 53:08Speaker 1: and it's pretty awful, like his eyes are still white
- 53:12Speaker 1: for the duration of this journey, and dragging like this
- 53:17Speaker 1: is a way this would kill people, This would this
- 53:21Speaker 1: has been used to kill people, this method. So you
- 53:27Speaker 1: hate seeing him like this. I don't want this, and I'm,
- 53:31Speaker 1: you know, considering the name of this episode, I'm pretty
- 53:34Speaker 1: much aware exactly what we're going to do. So we
- 53:38Speaker 1: then get a cut a jump ahead in time and
- 53:42Speaker 1: a dispersal of all of these newspapers and we find
- 53:48Speaker 1: out that it's big news, the fact that Lufi has
- 53:52Speaker 1: been captured and is in this work camp now.
- 53:57Speaker 2: And h he is.
- 54:02Speaker 1: They're doing a lot of heavy lifting to let us know,
- 54:06Speaker 1: first of all, how horrified every single one of his
- 54:10Speaker 1: friends is. We get to see everybody's reaction. I think
- 54:14Speaker 1: that oosup literally faints, if not, he almost like screams
- 54:19Speaker 1: at the very least. I love the fact that we
- 54:24Speaker 1: go over to Zorro and he you think that he's
- 54:27Speaker 1: reacting to all of this, but it turns out he's
- 54:29Speaker 1: just reacting to like probably the food being spicy or something.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I what is what.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Is Soro doing?
- 54:44Speaker 1: What is he doing because like the last time that
- 54:46Speaker 1: we saw him with the group, he was saying, let
- 54:49Speaker 1: me go take care of this tiger. But now he's
- 54:53Speaker 1: like on this boat with people, and it doesn't feel
- 54:56Speaker 1: like he's making like any effort to regroup with everybody
- 55:00Speaker 1: nobody else. Is he just sort of continuing on the
- 55:04Speaker 1: mission that he was sent with originally, of like you
- 55:07Speaker 1: just need to keep up the traveling around and like
- 55:13Speaker 1: gathering in.
- 55:13Speaker 2: Foe and allies?
- 55:14Speaker 1: Is that it? Florian says, he is going to them?
- 55:20Speaker 1: Don't you see how he finds his way while be honest,
- 55:23Speaker 1: I don't remember that. I remember him seeing the poster newspaper.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I'm not even sure what to call this and him
- 55:36Speaker 1: just like getting pissed. But honestly, everything that happened with
- 55:39Speaker 1: like Maria and everybody later kind of has overshadowed. Things
- 55:43Speaker 1: we cut from him, like seeing the newspaper and crushing
- 55:48Speaker 1: it to then some eyes opening in the darkness, and
- 55:52Speaker 1: this is when we go over to this weird mine,
- 55:56Speaker 1: so we get finally some information about exactly what all
- 56:01Speaker 1: these smoke stacks are about what exactly is happening, and
- 56:06Speaker 1: it's slave labor with all of these people who are
- 56:11Speaker 1: mining and also smithing weapons. Uh. And there it's just
- 56:21Speaker 1: like a ton of factories and a ton of production
- 56:25Speaker 1: of everything required for warfares, pretty much like anything to
- 56:30Speaker 1: equip Kaido's forces who don't have specialized abilities with, uh
- 56:40Speaker 1: with what do you call it? The Oh my god,
- 56:43Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. Florian says, that's a joke. He's lost
- 56:46Speaker 1: as always regarding don't you see how he finds his
- 56:49Speaker 1: way Florian, I really thought that you were saying, like
- 56:52Speaker 1: later in the episode we get to see what like
- 56:55Speaker 1: him find his way back. I really just fell for that.
- 56:59Speaker 1: I really just told fell for it.
- 57:01Speaker 2: What a goon.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Well, okay, so I'm sorry. I just lost my train
- 57:14Speaker 1: of thought there because I'm just so annoyed with myself
- 57:18Speaker 1: that I didn't understand that you were making a joke here. So, oh,
- 57:24Speaker 1: this is right. We go back to this like this
- 57:26Speaker 1: prison cell and one of the guys being like, here's
- 57:28Speaker 1: your fish, and he holds it up and he says,
- 57:31Speaker 1: what's in there? Anyway, all they said was stay back
- 57:34Speaker 1: and feed it a poisonous fish once a day, but
- 57:39Speaker 1: be sure to remove the bones. And this guy says
- 57:43Speaker 1: it likes poisonous fish, but like what's the point of
- 57:50Speaker 1: removing the bones If it's poisonous, then isn't that the problem?
- 57:55Speaker 1: And so he's like, I don't really want to bother
- 58:01Speaker 1: with doing that. That's a pain in the ass, which honestly,
- 58:05Speaker 1: deep boning of fish is genuinely a huge pain in
- 58:09Speaker 1: the ass. Anybody who has done it knows. Fishbones are
- 58:11Speaker 1: teeny tiny and they're very flexible, so it will be
- 58:15Speaker 1: very easy to overlook some and you can joke to
- 58:17Speaker 1: death on one, and it is a it's a real thing.
- 58:22Speaker 1: So as they are talking this through, there's an interruption
- 58:27Speaker 1: because Loofy arrives, which causes this man to drop the
- 58:31Speaker 1: fish into that enclosure without removing its bones. I want
- 58:38Speaker 1: to note too, that it's flopping around. That fish is alive,
- 58:42Speaker 1: which I thought was surprising. I figured that it would
- 58:45Speaker 1: be like freshly caught, but I didn't think it was
- 58:47Speaker 1: still alive, which wow. So Loofy, very bloody, covered in bandages,
- 58:56Speaker 1: is being broad inside and everybody is like kind of
- 59:00Speaker 1: just enjoying the fact that he has been brought low
- 59:05Speaker 1: after his reputation and all of the trouble that he
- 59:09Speaker 1: has made for so many people. They are really rubbing
- 59:13Speaker 1: it in and knocking him down and beating on him.
- 59:18Speaker 1: The bandages have gone around his mouth as well, which
- 59:21Speaker 1: I feel like has to be on purpose because he
- 59:26Speaker 1: was just mouthing off all the time. Honestly, I kind
- 59:32Speaker 1: of get it. He looks quite angry. He does not
- 59:35Speaker 1: look cowed at all, but it's because I feel like
- 59:41Speaker 1: this scene is a lot more effective if he doesn't
- 59:45Speaker 1: talk and just sort of takes it, you know. So Anyway,
- 59:49Speaker 1: this guy, who gets irritated at the fact that Lufy
- 59:53Speaker 1: is not cowed, starts to lift his weapon and is
- 59:57Speaker 1: intending to teach him a lesson when a fishbone unexpectedly
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: comes flying out of the cell like a fucking dart
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: and lodges itself right in the dude's neck in a
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: spot that like, he starts yelling I think I'm gonna die,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: which would ordinarily just be like stopping so dramatic, but
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: I think that probably, yeah, I think that this might
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: have killed him. And we see a face in the
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: cell that looks like a little like a bird face almost.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: It's a very weird shadowed thing and apparently was defending
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Loofy maybe just wanted to hurt anybody, and that guy
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: just happened to be in the way, but it definitely
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: felt purposeful. What do I know? Lovie gets tossed into
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: a cell, and we very quickly find out that he
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: is sharing this with Captain Kidd, because they both say
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: at the exact same time, I will get you for this, Kaido,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I will pay you back for this. So that's interesting.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Captain Kidd is one that has been like of interest,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: but every time we see him he is sort of
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: basic in a way that I was like growing a
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: little disappointed in not seeing anything exciting from him. I'm hoping,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: potentially this will lead to something more, you know. Anyway,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: so this is when we cut. We start the next
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: episode and we are with Pirona and me Hawk. She
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: finds out from the newspaper that Maria is still alive
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: and on the prowl, and she decides to leave, and
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: she's feeling almost guilty because she knows that Mihawk took
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: her in and that she should be more great. But
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: she's also like, you know, the two of them just
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: tend to butt heads and she's leading in high dudgeon.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: All he has to say is take care of yourself,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: and she gets awful clemped and it's just like, thank
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: you for everything you've done for me, and it's actually
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: kind of adorable, honestly. And then we go to the
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: island where Maria has arrived trying to find I think
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: he's trying to track down Teach, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I find it very funny because he's like yelling at
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: everybody tell me where he is, and the guy points
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: and there's a literal giant castle shaped like a skull
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: at the top of.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: A hill in the middle of town.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Where did you think he was, Maria? Do you think
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the potentially teach was in the giant castle shape like
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: a skull on the top of a hill in the
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: middle of town. Do you think maybe that might be
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: where he is? Perhaps, you fucking idiot. So anyway, I've
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: already talked about this whole scene where they lie to
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: him about a baden is that his name being still alive?
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: And then it turns out that he is not. It's
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: really awful because he's like laughing and his jaws sort
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: of open, and then all of a sudden he jumps
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: off the edge of this and like poofs into the
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: lady whose name is Devon I think Devin's got like
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: a fan club of ladies who are waving to her
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: off from the side. And I could not tell if
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: this was like a romantic I am in love with you,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I have a lot of lesbian followers, or if this
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: was like a like a Boa thing where it's I
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: just have women admiring me all the time, or what Absalom,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: thank you Florian. But yeah, there's another dude here who
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: has invisibility powers because they killed Absalom and his devil
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: fruit apparently they were able to take its power, and
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: so this dude who's got a cigar in his mouth,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: he now can be invisible. And Maria is like, he
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: was my crewmate, he was my friend. And again I
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: was just like, aw, why would you guys do this
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: to him and this lady. Because he's like, I'm gonna
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: make you all pay. She says, well, you're welcome to try,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: and just as he is about to do something, there
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: is what feel like it does almost look like a
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: nuclear blast. Everything is shaking. Maria looks terrified, but Devin
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: looks like unmoved. It's almost like, ah, here it comes
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like she's excited, you know, And then we hear somebody
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: say I see you get go Moria, and he's like
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I know that voice, and Teach says, we can't have
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: you disturbing the peace. And we kind of cut around
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: and we see like there's a woman getting drunk with
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: him in this room. There had been a whole thing
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: earlier with how like pirates are just at their ease
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: on this island having a great time. And when Teacher
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: is like saying, oh hey guys, he basically rouses everybody
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: and is like this, this Maria is a real party pooper.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: Are you gonna let him ruin our good time? Or
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: are we gonna take this motherfucker down? And he says,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: come on, Maria, you like to party, right, you should
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: have more fun, and Moria is like shaken in his
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: shoes here, which considering that this dude has two devil
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: fruit powers and we've got other double fruit users that
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: are surrounding him, yeah, I think you're out matched here. Bro.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: I gotta admit you got taken down by Loufy this guy.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: This is no joke.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: And he says, did you see the paper today? And
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: we get a picture really quickly of Sabo and he
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: we don't see like the headline, but he just says
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: there's never a dull day. But then we get the
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: narrator saying they risked it all to take back Kuma,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and this like the teaches like celebrating this. He's I
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: think it's just like the chaos of everything, you know,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: as long as they're out here mixing it up, it's
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: going to be easier for us to deal with the
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: world government because they are all over the place trying
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: to put out all.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Of these fires.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: And he also brings up that there's another emperor on
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Lufy's tail. He calls her angry as a wet hen,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: which is one that I haven't heard in a while.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Big Mom is like following Lufy, which I am assuming
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: she's heading to Wjuano. I don't know if there's like
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: any way that any of the obstacles to get to
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Wanta matter. When it's Big Mom. I feel like she's
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: going to be able to overcome all of them quite easily.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: So her being a factor in this I had never
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: thought of. I figured we had just left her behind
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: for now, but evidently she is determined to make herself
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: a problem, which I respect, and we just get like
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the episode ends basically with Teach just being like everybody
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: wants to be king, but only one person gets to be.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: And I will say it's kind of a cool effect
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: because he slams his fist down and then when it
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: says to be continued that the screen looks like it
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: cracked from the force of him bringing his fist down.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: I don't remember the show ever having an effect about
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: the the end. I don't think it's ever done that.
