- 0:01Speaker 1: More than a garden. Hey everybody, it's Wally Bates. Welcome
- 0:05Speaker 1: back to Rideshare Revival. I picked up Larry from University
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hospital the other day. He came walking towards the car
- 0:15Speaker 1: with a cane, moving pretty gingerly. You could tell every
- 0:20Speaker 1: step hurt. Larry needs a hip replacement, he told me.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And for a guy whose passion involves being outside and
- 0:29Speaker 1: working the ground, It's a pretty big obstacle. Because Larry's
- 0:34Speaker 1: a gardener. But not just the kind who grows a
- 0:37Speaker 1: few tomatoes in the backyard. No. Larry's passionate about sustaining garden. Sustainable.
- 0:47Speaker 1: In other words, he helps you grow what you eat.
- 0:51Speaker 1: He helps people figure out how to grow their own
- 0:53Speaker 1: food right where they live. If you've got a little backyard,
- 0:57Speaker 1: he'll help you figure out what you can grow. And
- 1:00Speaker 1: if you've got more land, he'll help you with the
- 1:02Speaker 1: gardening as well as raising animals. This whole thing is
- 1:07Speaker 1: helping people use what they already have to become a
- 1:11Speaker 1: little more self-sufficient. I love listening to him talk about it.
- 1:16Speaker 1: You can hear his passion. This wasn't just a hobby.
- 1:19Speaker 1: He genuinely loves helping people. Our ride really wasn't very long.
- 1:26Speaker 1: And we talked about life. We talked about what he's
- 1:29Speaker 1: going through. We talked about that hip and the pain.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And about the fact that God isn't finished with him yet.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I told him, God's got you. There's still plenty ahead.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Still people to help. Still gardens to grow. And when
- 1:47Speaker 1: we pulled up to his destination, I reached over. I said,
- 1:49Speaker 1: give me your hand. Larry reached out thinking I was
- 1:52Speaker 1: just going to shake it. And instead, I held on.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And I prayed. I prayed for his hip. for the
- 1:58Speaker 1: procedure ahead, for healing and strength, and then pray for
- 2:02Speaker 1: something else. I ask God to keep sending Larry people
- 2:06Speaker 1: who needed him, people who needed to help him growing
- 2:11Speaker 1: in their garden, people who could help sustain his income,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and people Larry could help grow in ways that had
- 2:20Speaker 1: absolutely nothing to do with the ground. Because maybe that's
- 2:26Speaker 1: really what Larry does. He grows things, plants, food, gardens, confidence, people.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Larry was genuinely touched by the prayer, and as he carefully,
- 2:42Speaker 1: gingerly made his way out of the car, I couldn't
- 2:45Speaker 1: help but think, maybe God isn't finished growing things through Larry.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Maybe he's just preparing the ground for what's next. Rideshare revival.
- 2:57Speaker 1: There's hope. at every turn. These are my prayers for
- 3:00Speaker 1: the road. If you would like prayer, I would love
- 3:03Speaker 1: to pray for you. Send me a real line to
- 3:06Speaker 1: ridesharerevival at gmail.com.
