Shortly after starting my hospital job as a physician assistant, I made myself a promise: I would stay for one year, gain the experience, and then pursue something more aligned with my passions.
Exactly one year later, on March 3, I logged into my computer to a message congratulating me on my work anniversary. Hours later, I was fired. The next morning, I boarded a plane to Sedona to begin what I thought would be my Eat, Pray, Love era.
