the Road to Total Savings US one nineteen in Chabtanville coming up on the show
2:13
this morning. It kind of took a lot of people by shock on Saturday
2:15
night when the announcement came out that two of Charleston's most popular restaurants are going
2:20
to be closing their doors. Talking about the Tidewater Grill and the Chop House.
2:24
We're going to get into that's a little bit later on. One of
2:29
the guys who was on this story starting Saturday night of all people, Meetia
2:34
Robigs Brian Hughes from her friends over at thirteen. He's going to join us
2:38
talk about that as well as former Charleston Mayor Dandy Jones will be stopping by.
2:40
We're gonna hear from Ernest Welevins, who is a candidate for a house,
2:44
and we're also going to talk to Charleston City council Woman Shannon'snadgrass who's standing
2:47
by. But before we get to that, I do want to mention this.
2:50
We got a major traffic situation about seven point thirty this morning eastbound traffic
2:54
coming into the city. This was on the Fort Hill Bridge. There was
2:58
an accident there. There was a car that actually flipped over on inside.
3:01
There are reports of injuries, and as of our last report, traffic is
3:06
still slow moving coming in to downtown Charleston. So if you're traveling on I
3:09
sixty four this morning, again, even though it happened about seven thirty this
3:13
morning, I'm told and if it's anything's changed, somebody can text me and
3:17
or call me let me know. But I'm told that traffic is still being
3:21
impacted by this accident that happened at about seven thirty this morning on the Fort
3:24
Hill Bridge east bound coming in to town. So just know that no before
3:29
you go, as they say. Shannon Snodgrass, Charleston City council Woman of
3:34
Ward eleven, joins us now via the Big Lee Pigley Wiggly Hotline. Shannon
3:37
Councilwoman Snodgrass, good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave,
3:40
thanks for asking me on, Thanks for being here, and be thankful
3:45
you're not trying to drive into downtown Charleston this morning, because it's a mess.
3:46
It's a mess, it's a mess. Let's get let's get right to
3:52
it. A council woman, you've been very critical of the Good One administration's
3:57
handling of the whole ty Cunt situation. Everybody was a story by now former
4:00
chief demoted now two ranks down to corporal and has been on unpaid suspension following
4:05
the internal investigation into alleged sexual misconduct. Of course, he filed for medical
4:11
lead before being placed on administrative leave. You're asking for an internal investigation to
4:16
be made public. Why is that? Well, first of all, I
4:23
do I think what you said is correct. I have disagreed with this administration
4:28
from day one with the handling you know, as you wouldcall the harlest case.
4:34
No one even knew about it until she spoke out the first allegation of
4:39
sexual misconduct, and we found out that there was a investigation and a three
4:46
day suspension, even though the top ranking officials didn't even know that he had
4:50
been suspended. So that was a year and a half later. So I
4:55
think that was not I think when you're dealing with our top cops, our
5:00
chief of police, you have no choice but to be open and transparent,
5:05
and really, why would you not want to be I mean, that's public
5:09
trust. But now fast forward, we've had this second allegation from an ex
5:15
police officer Chelsea McCoy, who is now also suing this city, suing Corporal
5:19
Hunt and suing Sergeant Basford. And I think that after seven months of spending
5:26
not only paying for two officers to be off, but we paid for an
5:30
investigation with TAC pay money, I think it's very clear that they can release
5:35
the finding of the Professional Standards Division. I think it's important to let the
5:41
public know with all these allegations of misuse of sexual misconduct, first of all,
5:47
public misuse of public property, misuse of public devices, perhaps altering a
5:55
polygraph test from how many did he do? You know? And then not
6:01
tell us what they've found him guilty of? Was it any? Was it
6:06
all? We know it was egregious. I can't recall, Maybe you can,
6:11
when was the last time an officer was demoted? When he stepped down
6:14
as chief on his own accord, not the mayor didn't demoting, He stepped
6:17
down himself when the second allegation was forthcoming. But he's been demoted twice.
6:24
We know he's been suspended now twice, So we know that whatever they found
6:29
was bad. Why can't the public know that? Why can't the public know
6:33
what policies were breached, whether it be HR policies, and as you know,
6:38
officers also have a separate policy and procedure, a group of code to
6:44
conduct they have to follow. So I mean, just simply why not.
6:48
It's going to come out in a lawsuit, but why not be transparent with
6:53
your tax payer money? What are we hiding? Why not say it?
6:58
Talking again with the Charleston's City Council with Shannon Snodgrass, let me be clear
7:00
a councilwoman, that you aren't the only person asking for details we made public.
7:04
Kenny Bass of Eywodn's News was actually on the show with Hoppey last week'
7:09
saying pretty much the same thing. Other council members of well have asked for
7:13
this to be made public. Well, and you know I've heard the excuse
7:17
that that it's a personnel policy. Well that's how they tried to shut down
7:21
the Harlow's case. Okay, now let's talk about that. There's other officers
7:27
that the public's going to recall. And Dave, you remember this when there
7:30
was a we didn't know till after the fact, but there was a a
7:38
disabled female on the West Side that was at a Dollar General and had an
7:42
altercation in the store and then with an officer wouldn't take her hand out of
7:46
her pocket, a second officer entered the scene. It's you know, there
7:50
was a scuffle, but we all knew every detail of that incident and the
7:57
officer being fired. What is the different front. I can give you another
8:01
example. There was an officer involved in a throwing a backpack of a homeless
8:07
man. We know that that's not right and bad and whatever your opinion is
8:11
of that. And even with the other incident I mentioned, we know it's
8:16
bad. But these two cases were publicly talked about and the details were revealed,
8:24
and the discipline was revealed, and this gentleman ty Khunt was our top
8:31
cop that was appointed by an elected official. I just think it sets a
8:37
tremendous bar if that's allegations. And all they could come up with was a
8:43
three day suspension. And as you recall, even more importantly, they want
8:48
to hide behind personnel matters. But as you recall on speaking a hobby on
8:54
the Hoppey Kerchiable show, Kevin Baker got on there after the Harlest case came
8:58
out right before the election, fifteen months after the incident, and Kevin Baker
9:05
talked about the case, talked about the personnel matter that he got on Hoppy
9:11
and talked about that. The that mss Harlest and tight Hunt's stories Matt corroborated
9:16
each other. Therefore, the investigation was closed. And yet Mayor Goodwin selected
9:22
the penalty or the punishment. Well, why could they talk about that?
9:24
And now they can't talk about it. It's it's selective enforcement. It's selective
9:30
what you want to talk about? God, no, go ahead. Well,
9:35
and just to give you another example, I think that's why they remained
9:39
so frustrated. I mean, look, I know the same political affiliation.
9:43
You know, you want to support your mayor, but at the same time,
9:46
you know, I feel like we're dealing with someone that's that's you know.
9:50
I hate to use a quote. I'm not much on quotes, but
9:54
like Harry Houdini, the secret of showmanship is not what you actually do,
10:01
but it's what you convinced the public that you have done. I mean,
10:03
for an example, another example of quote, personnel policy. Can't talk about
10:09
it. You don't want to talk about anything that looks bad. Well,
10:13
you know, Danny Jones didn't do that to get out in front of the
10:15
camera and tell you straight up what happened and here's like it or not.
10:18
And I'm used to that. I spent I think under her under Jones,
10:24
and now I'm on my second term. I'm one of the longest serving council
10:30
people currently of this group that we have now. But I just another example
10:35
would be when we had the big controversy and everybody found out about her hiring
10:39
her two friends under temporary employment of a temporary agency, and our own subtle
10:45
sonicer said we weren't following personnel policy, but yet we kept one for four
10:50
years and never took a day off. Kenny Bass speaking then Kenny Bass,
10:54
who doesn't bang up job hen Leslie Rubin. You know, at least they
10:58
report to the media, I mean to the public what goes on. You
11:03
know, he talked about that case in detail, or that that story,
11:07
and they said, oh, it's a personal matter, we can't talk about
11:11
it. Well, you kept one temporary employee that you know was so close
11:15
to your campaign for four years and the other one for two years, and
11:18
one we paid for two weeks packed pair money. That's a fact, paid
11:22
for two weeks while vacation in Hawaii. I have no idea what she did
11:26
for the city of Charleston while vacationing in Hawaii. I mean, so it
11:31
just looks a little it's hard, it's hard to swallow. It's a personnel
11:37
matter. Now you read council Woman Shannon snodgrasses with us again. You read
11:41
quite a powerful statement council woman on the council Flora during the regular meeting last
11:46
Monday. Uh, any interest of time, do you care to paraphrase what
11:48
you said during that meeting? Well, it was rather lengthy, but you
11:54
know, in general, you know, this administration cam pained on transparency and
12:01
championing women, and I just I just believe that most of these cases you
12:07
can see clearly that there is no transparency. We have lost it on council
12:13
floor. We're not even allowed to ask questions on council floor. But but
12:16
I talked about you know, and and at the end of the day,
12:20
I heard Kenny on one of the shows He's correct, it's about these women.
12:24
And what does this speak to the public if we cannot a protect these
12:30
women but not give them and and ask our public to trust our law enforcement.
12:35
And I'm I am aged true supportive law enforcement. You know that too.
12:39
I've been on your show several times talking about raises, and I mean,
12:43
I waived the flag flag fire men in blue. But you know,
12:48
but even they want it's been a black eye to them and they want this
12:54
done and over. But they want it. They want it open and and
12:58
and so they don't have to deal with this. And I just basically said
13:03
that, you know, I stand for transparency, and I thought this administration
13:07
did and nothing about this. It is transparent. And if this does not
13:11
fall on the heels of firing someone, when I just gave you examples of
13:16
other officers that were fired, and I've heard Danny and others say it's very
13:20
difficult to fire an officer, I guarantee you he could do it. And
13:24
if you look at nationwide, it's easier now to fire a police officer than
13:28
any time that I recall. So you know, if it's these allegations of
13:33
not one, but two women for sexual misconduct, does not fall under a
13:41
fireball sense, and I say it again, I ended with that, then
13:45
please tell me what does That's pretty much what Hopey said in his commentary that
13:48
he did last week. Two. Yeah, I saw that. I said
13:50
that sounded like my speeding pretty much, you know, and I think copy
13:56
for you know, letting me stay because I'm going to tell you as you
14:00
know, the public is very aware of this, and you know, we
14:03
want to trust our police officers, and we've been and again you run on
14:07
the platform, we're gonna you know, you talk about those two restaurants,
14:09
but I'm going to get on there and talk about you know, she's the
14:13
CEO of this city. She ran the first time on I'm going to revitalize
14:16
them all. I'm going to do this. We're going to have a robust
14:18
economic development. Well, nothing has happened except people leaving. But yet,
14:24
Okay, we had the big announcement about Tai Khan and the investigation is now
14:30
closed. But I didn't fire him. But yet, Oh, look,
14:33
we're going to tear down the Macy's building and starts the sports complex. We
14:37
don't even have the money for that yet. Why don't we tearing down the
14:39
Macy's building and leave it in an icefore for two or three years before we
14:43
have funding. Again, it's all about showmanship. We'll go. You know,
14:48
don't look at what I say, not what I've done. I mean,
14:52
it's getting to the point it's it's we were honest with you to sit
14:56
on council and watch what happened to these two women they came forward. It's
15:03
not about the women. It is all about the women now. But it's
15:07
not judging these women. This person had a gun and a badge and a
15:13
duty to this city, and the mayor had the obligation to handle things in
15:22
an appropriate manner, in a transparent manner. I stand for transparency. I
15:26
will always champion women, and I will always champion our law enforcement. And
15:31
I think this is a double black eye to law enforcement and they don't deserve
15:35
it. It's hard enough to be a police officer. You need to handle
15:39
your own and be upfront about it. Coulsel, well, but Shannon Stodgrass
15:45
is always it's a pleasure to have you on the show. I appreciate you

Tex says, how disappointing is it to serve on a council and with

At Commissioner Silango has said bonds would be issued for it. With the economy

20:45
If I flip your microphone on there, Ernest, good morning, Welcome to
20:48
the show, Ernie, thanks for having me give us the bio on Ernest
20:51
Blevins. I came to West Virginia in December twenty thirteen and chosen to day.
21:00
I have a degree in historic preservation, I actually master of Fine Arts,
21:04
and I work in cultural resources doing archaeology, architectural history, a lot
21:11
of what's called Section one of six work, which deals with the National Start
21:15
Preservation Act. So I go between working doing consulting and contracting work writing reports
21:23
to actually being in the field doing the shovel tests and photographs of buildings and
21:29
things generally, you know, around the whole Southeast. Sometimes I'm interested in
21:36
running, because I did run the last time in twenty twenty two, and
21:41
I did fairly decent for a newcomer. And I would like to do public
21:47
service and you know, try to assist West Virginia to improve and keep more
21:52
people here and attract more people. I have kids in elementary school and junior
21:59
high or middle school they call it here high school, and one at Marshall
22:03
and went in the workforce. I'm all products of Canow County schools in the
22:07
end, and you know, I would like to see them stay around as
22:11
if I can, or at least provide them the best education to move forward
22:17
in their personal lives and careers. So I have an interest in a lot
22:22
of things and improving things in West Virginia to help us all, what are
22:26
your running out of District fifty seven? First of all, explain that district
22:30
to us and what are some of the biggest issues of that specific district.
22:33
Earnest The district is basically Scaff's old district. It's runs from basically one nineteen
22:42
to Dunbar and South Charleston and then own up back not quite to Jefferson Road
22:52
area. I call it South Charleston, Dunbar of Vandalia, South Hills,
22:59
Spring Hills. That that area there. It looks like on the map of
23:03
probably the smallest geographical district at least I've seen in the state. But it
23:07
has the same population as all these other districts that expand for acres and acres.
23:17
The district I think is fairly conservative, although they've elected popular Democrats in
23:23
the past. Who's who's now changed parties, which you know sort of says
23:26
something about maybe a little more conservative than that. So, uh, some
23:33
of the issues we all want good roads. Uh. One of the issues
23:38
in general i've seen is a pay salary in West Virginia. I'd like to
23:42
see that improved state for state employees. When I was worked in the state,
23:48
I know there's some pay discrepancies, not malicious or anything, but if
23:55
I compared dollars Charleston dollars to other play says, I found that the employees
24:02
in my office will tended to be lower paid than their peers around the country.
24:07
And this is adjusted to Charleston dollars. And I saw several people leave,
24:11
so that you know, they were using us as a stepping stone to
24:15
go off to other places. And you know, if we adjust that salary
24:19
gap there in their fields, and this is probably not just that office,
24:23
but other offices I would suspect had the same sort of situation that we could
24:29
keep and attract people here there, and of course being near town, you
24:36
know that that would help our district and maybe attracting some people. And we
24:40
have fairly strong economics with South Charleston and the new products going in there across
24:45
from the Kroger and so the district is is fairly decent, but I think
24:52
we can all work on improvements and do ourselves better. Talking town as Black
24:57

25:02
Island Show on five, Any Life is Bright to part by your hometown baseball
25:04

25:07
on Thursday. And on Thursday show we'll spend some time talking with the management
25:12
some of the others players too from the Dirty Birds on the show on Thursday.
25:17
And this, how's the campaign been going so far? It's been going
25:21
fairly well there campaign style? Are you a sign waiver? Door knocker door?
25:26
I've been doing some some door knocking. I'm the one who has a
25:30
flag either at the van or out the car, big blue flag says Blevin's
25:34
on it and the district subdivisions of Vandalien and that sort of thing. So
25:41
I'm the one you see you running around doing that. I do some flag
25:45
waving a little bit of a different twist on sign waving, as the little
25:52
gimmick has given me some notice, and I've had people comment on it,
25:55
so it was successful and last time, and so I'm continue to do that
26:00
and try to meet people, put giving cards out, getting the name out
26:04
there, and say, I think I have a little bit of advantage.
26:07
I do have my name already out there from last time competition. We I
26:11
don't think we've heard from one of the people who's running, and then of
26:18
course the other one has advertised on this radio, which so so we're all
26:23
working for the same vote. I have no feel on how he's how he's
26:26
doing, how the other one's doing, or how you know, I think
26:30
I'm doing pretty well myself, but I really have nothing to compare with,
26:33
and I don't know if they do either. What do you when you're out
26:37
at campaign advance, whether you're waving your flag or you're talking to people or
26:40
doing it, what do you hear from the public out there and it's about
26:41
District fifty seven, What are they telling you? Well, I've gotten very
26:48
positive comments on it that you know, people are are interested. Some people
26:53
aren't interested at all, but you know, I think they're just now starting
26:59
to get interested. Early on that people there's this too early a start and
27:06
that sort of thing. But now that it's starting to come up within a
27:07
month, people starting to look and pay a little bit more attention, ask
27:11
some more questions and I you know, get a better feel of the candidates,
27:18
and so we're so we're just trying to get our word out there.
27:22
You have a like a website or social media that you're on. Elect Bleven's
27:26
fifty seven is my Facebook, and I'm predominantly working on using that more.
27:32
That seems to be more engaging than websites in my experience. Social media,
27:37
social media, social med and of course can't go wrong with the traditional radio
27:41
either. Yeah, yeah, which I'm looking into. And my email is
27:45
the elect blevinsat gmail dot com, So you can reach out there as well
27:51
if you have questions or or like to help out or whatever. I appreciate
27:55
that. Give me the final thirty seconds as we called it. Why should
27:59
someone vote Furnest Blead for House History fifty seven? Well, I'm pro Second
28:03

28:10

28:30

28:36
I've been active there. We might be a common man for the legislature,
28:41
you know, a little bit different. My background's different, and it
28:45

28:48

28:56

29:04
But no, I'm not looking to make this a career move at all,
29:10
So I would appreciate any based support and uh, look for Ernest Levin's
29:15

33:30
Well over the weekend came the news late Saturday night that a couple of iconic
33:37
Charles Neiders, the Chop House and Tide Water Grill, would be closing through
33:39
doors. Meteorologist Brian Hughes from storm Track for thirteen somehow found himself covering this
33:45
story late Saturday night. He joins us now via the big Ley Pickley Wiggily
33:49
hotline and with additional comments, we have former mayor Danny Jones here. Danny,
33:52
good morning, good morning, and Brian, good morning to you too.
33:57
Good morning to you. Gentlemen. All right, well, please don't
33:59
use the word around me and Danny. Well, there's at least one of
34:01
you, and there's a gentleman. I will start with you Brian, you
34:06
are all over the story starting Saturday night. I mean, you know,
34:08
don't you have rain to watch or something. How does a meteorologist get in
34:13
on this story? Well, typically I would be just doing the rain and
34:16
the weather, but sometimes I get wrapped into things just by accident. And
34:20
that's that's kind of how this happened. I mean, I saw everybody who
34:22
has ever been to Tidewater you know a number of times, has probably ran
34:28
into you know, maryon Leg and you know, she's worked there for twenty
34:31
years. She literally has been late three times ever in her twenty year career
34:36
there, and she's a wonderful lady. And she just said, I just
34:42
lost my job. They're closing up. So I quickly messaged her and she's
34:45
like, yep, both restaurants are closing. It's not just I posted that,
34:49
you know, confirming what she had told me. And things kind of
34:52
went off the rails from there. And then they had a meeting at ten
34:55
am yesterday morning at the at Tidewater with all the employees from chop House and
35:00
Tidewater UH to advise him of everything, you know, going forward and the
35:07
best way the company could help them, And the company said listen, they
35:09
you can come work with us in Ohio, Michigan. And the president of
35:12
the company said, you know, we don't expect many, if any to
35:15
take that offer because you've got to go well up to you know, into
35:20
Michigan or to get some of the shops. But he he himself, Kevin
35:29
you Degco, who is the president of MS Adventures. He said he was
35:36
upset that one of the managers told me that they haven't given a craft about
35:42
this, about this part of their company since they bought the place a number
35:45
of years ago. And he was upset with me, and I said,
35:47
no, no, no, I did not say that. One of your
35:50
managers, the guy you told on Saturday night that it's time to close up
35:54
the doors, you need to tell the employees. That's what he said to
35:58
me directly on a Sunday winning And then uh, then I had a phone
36:01
in conversation with the with the president of the company, and you know,
36:05
he said, you know, they're going to spend forty thousand dollars to pay
36:07
out vacation, but you know they've lost hundreds of thousands of dollars over the
36:10
last five years. And he said they just could not susay that without new
36:15
tenants and a better lease deal. And when he and I were specifically discussed
36:19
in the whole group, I said, I said, I'm gonna put this
36:22
nicely, they're, uh, they're difficult to work with. He said,
36:25
Oh, you're being way too nice. They are pain in the horses rear.
36:30
And he said, we've come to a point where the city who's tried
36:35
over and over to work with them can't work with him anymore. It's a
36:37
private company. They're they're just being extremely difficult, uh, that being the
36:42
whole group. And he said, he said, listen, the thing that
36:45
we are trying to drive home is we were excited about the sports complex and
36:50
if the hotel had gone in like it was supposed to, he said,
36:52
we probably could have survived until that sports complex. He said, but this
36:57
problem is the whole group. M what is the that are they the people
37:02
that own the Malleo own them? Mall okay, yeah, go ahead,
37:07
And they were, Yeah, they were the ones who I was there when
37:08
it was auctioned on the courthouse steps. They were the ones who bought it
37:12
for five million, uh you know, and that was essentially just taking over
37:15
the note from I can't remember was a US bank or Bank of America.
37:19
Uh, but you know, you look at what's happening right now. I
37:22
mean I've gotten other notes from people who are who talked about how you know
37:24
they're not renewing leases or they just have really bad terms to negotiate, and
37:30
you know there there will be more stores that are going to close up shopping
37:32
there, and uh, you know, you you've got to look at this.
37:36
Okay, is this going to be another quote unquote bankruptcy just with this
37:39
as its own entity, or is this just going to be a total write
37:43
down that they're looking at, uh, as far as taxes are concerned.
37:46
And what happens to the property after that, because right now, you know,
37:50
if you can get it for five million, there's twenty two acres over
37:52
here. You know, right now, you know the running way for an
37:55
acre to be about a million dollars of pop that you go the whole group
38:00
being interested in selling more, not at this not at this point. But
38:06
you know, you know, as if as you know, as we all
38:09
know, everything has a price, it's just naming it and taking his hands,
38:14
but everything that everything has to have a buyer. And you're if you
38:21
buy a ma all like that. You're dealing in negative volume. In other
38:24
words, you're gonna lose. You're gonna lose money. Danny, you were
38:28
there when he used to establishments first open their doors. Yeah, your thoughts.
38:31
Tadwater opened in eighty three and I still had all my dark hair,
38:37
and I wouldn't you know. I was elected sheriff the next year and I
38:42
was, man, I've had a good life back in those days. It
38:45
was. It was a very exciting place and they had a lot of good
38:51
business. You had to get there early to get a table. And I
38:54
think this is all very sad. Let me tell you what opportunity looms though,
39:00
Brian. If I was forty years old instead of seventy three, I
39:06
would try to contact those people that own the Hall Group, because I have
39:10
a feeling these people have walked out and they've left everything there and they owe
39:17
money on their lease. But somebody might get a restaurant for nothing. And
39:22
if the Hall Group was smart. And I did this in Nitro, I
39:27
got a bunch of I paid. I remember I paid Bob Hatfield for eight
39:32
months. I paid him five thousand. That's all I paid him. Now
39:37
I paid him three thousand. So essentially I got the first first year almost
39:43
free, and that gives you a good head start to somebody if they would,
39:46
if they were if they were interested in having a restaurant, they could
39:52
make a deal there. But now, if this guy doesn't want anybody in
39:57
there, or if he doesn't want to help somebody get the place, then
40:00
and that's at either end. You could do either end. I could take
40:04
that tide water and bring some smokers. Well, it sounds like we need
40:07
the return of Danny's Barbecue. Is that what you're hearing there, Brian,
40:12
I've heard that, Brian Bran. One thing I want to say, I
40:14
think that was really good in this whole story is uh, you know you
40:17
saw various eateries through out the canalv out, I mean going as far as
40:21
over where I live in Putnam County, Sleepy Hollow, you know, putting
40:23
out things saying, hey, we want to hire these people because face and
40:28
they kind of have selfish reasons too, because they can't find anybody to work
40:31
so there, so they're reaching out to these people. That's right, And
40:36
listen Mary and Legg. Yesterday morning, she already had a job offer that
40:39
she had accepted so she didn't tell me where. She said, I can't
40:43
say it yet, but I've accepted the job offer. A lot of those
40:45
guys. I was talking to a lot of the line cooks, the kitchen
40:50
staff out there before they had their meet at ten am. They're all just
40:53
you could see just the strut sort of looks on their face. But they
40:57
but you know, when they were hearing and they were seeing on Facebook all
40:59
these offers. I mean, you have Olive Tree Catering, you had Buffalo
41:02
Wild Wings that were offering to give them jobs. PG said, please come
41:07
see any of us downtown. We're looking for people who will hire you.
41:10
And so you saw the good spirit of the business community steff up and go.
41:15
We'll take care of these people because we do need more staff. We
41:17
you know, we we need these people, and they're good quality staff.
41:22
But you know, there's there's one thing that that that the president of the
41:28
company. I asked him, I said, I said, why the no
41:31
notice? He said, he said, we were told essentially by the group
41:36
the board, that we've got to shut it down and there's just no way
41:38
that we can do anymore. And he said, he said, you know,
41:42
I could have hired a company coming here and just terminate these employees,
41:44
and I could have moved on, he said, I drove all the way
41:45
from Michigan. I'm listen. I wasn't happy that with the way they were
41:50
still terminated as well. But he said, I could have hired somebody out
41:52
and done this, he said, but I drove down here from Michigan to
41:55
talk to them myself and to take the wrath on, he said, because
41:59
I knew it would happen. He said, But there's just no way we
42:01
could survive without that sports complex coming in, or you know, or just
42:06
favorable least terms. I mean. And at the same time, the whole
42:08
group has has done this to themselves. I mean when you look to they
42:12
sued the guy who bought the Seers building in or down and just because he
42:16
was touching the building trying to tear every thing down. I mean, they
42:19
just went, hey, you know, just crazy. So so you know,
42:22
the whole group has done this, and I've been in I've been in
42:25
meetings, you know, even had a discussion one time with the mayor.
42:30
She said. We have tried everything in our powers, she said, but
42:31
at the end of the day, it's a private business and there's sometimes there
42:35
are things we just can't do. Yeah, you're exactly right, Hey,
42:37
Brian, A great job being on top of the story starting Saturday night.
42:42
I appreciate you being here. I do. I have been told that sometime
42:46
later on the week we may have an announcement about the entertainment for the regatta,
42:50
that that may be coming at some point later this week. I was
42:52
told that I hope that is the case. Quickly, give me twenty seconds
42:55
on weather. Since you're here, Earn and their weather paycheck, give me
42:59
twenty second on weather. I listen. I enjoyed the sunshine today. The
43:04
frost that we had this morning should be about the last one. It's seventy
43:07
two tomorrow, it's gonna be dry day with the rain moving at night.
43:09
It'll be here here still early Wednesday morning, but by Thursday sixty eight mostly
43:15
Sunday seventy six, Friday upper seventies to load the mid eighties over the weekend
43:20
with a couple of thundershafts that I really believe this frost this morning, with
43:23
the last two raw will be a couple of spots and mountains on Thursday morning
43:27
and have a little frost, but the rest of us are going to do
43:29
good all the way into the month of May. All right, Brian,
43:31
I appreciate I'll be hanging out with you Saturday night in Morgantown, Man,
43:35
So looking for you there, all right, buddy, Thanks a lot.

Jones, former Charleston mayor, is here. Danny, let's move away from
46:22
the from the restaurant business for a moment. I had a councilor of the
46:27
Channa Snodgrass on top of the show on this whole tight hunt situation. I
46:30
know you've been on Hoppy talking about it. Why can't you fire a police
46:34
officer? Well you can, it's just hard you. She talked about where
46:38
the where the police officers through the backpack in the river, and he lied
46:43
about it. That's why he got fired. And then his buddy lied about
46:46
it for him. And now I know the second police officer, he's one
46:52
of the cops up there at the at the state capital. But he's no
46:55
good as a witness because they're it will come up if he has testify against
47:04
somebody what happened and why he had to leave the Charleston Police Department. You
47:07
wanted to weigh in on this, Well, the only one we wouldn't even
47:12
know about this Vendven for Shannon. Yeah, so she has to be she
47:16
you know, she has she should be given credit for that, and I
47:21
don't. I'm not sure it's over yet. The reason see that the Harlest
47:25
case. I know that there was a file sent to the prosecutor and they
47:30
didn't they didn't prosecute, and I don't think they had anything to prosecute him.
47:35
Pour on that, Chelsea McCoy. It's right there, baby, falsification
47:39
of records everything. It's all right that live box trading, the live box
47:45
altered thing for sex. There's got to be a criminal violation there. So
47:50
it depends. So it might not be over. You don't know. I
47:52
mean, I don't know who's involved. I don't know what's what's what direction
47:58
or if the cave, if the city's closed the cave. It may have
48:00
So we'll just have to wait and see. I want to talk a little
48:04
politics with you. Last week, the governor endorsed former delegate more Capital for
48:10
a governor of justices as who endorsed more Capital. Hope. He's got a
48:14
poll going on Twitter on x right now about do these endorsements really help?
48:19
And when I looked at the top of the show, doesn't factor in was
48:23
was was leading in the in the informal poll your thought on that endorsement.
48:29
Well, I think it's significant. I don't know if it's significant enough.
48:31
I mean, I'd rather have it than not have it. And you know,
48:36
Big Jim is very popular and hopefully it'll it'll roll down to more to
48:42
more Capito. I mean, because he's he's he's very close to Morrissey,
48:46
I mean in the polls, so it it it could help him. Now
48:52
they're starting to run what's his name, the black Bear pack, that's Morrisey's
48:55
pack. He's he's running nasty stuff about about more now. And he's got
49:02
a thing where I don't know why Donald Trump Junior would insert himself in that
49:07
race. I don't know what that's about. Because his mother voted for aid
49:12
to Ukraine and because she voted for the infrastructure bill. The infrastructure bill is
49:17
very valuable to this state. And I'm for ad to Ukraine. I mean,
49:22
I'll tell anybody that that's easy for me. You don't aid Ukraine,
49:27
you don't give them the tools to fight that war, to keep Russia busy
49:30
in Ukraine, they'll get busy in Poland. And it's just like World War
49:34
Two. That's what's wrong with this whole America. First movement. It's an
49:37
isolationist movement. We have a president. Nineteen thirty eight, nineteen thirty nine,
49:43
nineteen forty you had Charles Lindbergh. You know, he was out in
49:49
People don't know about him. He left the country because he couldn't get any
49:52
peace at home, and he went to Europe and then he went to France.
49:57
And when he was in France, he got all jacked up with this
50:00
one guy and they were all in an area and superiority crap. And then
50:07
he went to Germany and there he was the thirty six Olympics and he's getting
50:12
medals from Oh they wooed him like a bride and he's there showing the salute
50:19
and he's with Goring getting medals. And he made a speech in Medicine Square
50:25
Garden, which wasn't it wasn't accepted well. But then he went to Iowa.
50:30
He said, there's three reasons that the people want us to go into
50:34
the European War. One is the Roosevelt administration, two is Great Britain,
50:39
and three of the Jews. Those were his words. So, I mean,
50:44
we've got precedent for everything that happens here, and it's important that we
50:47
support Ukraine. I want to get your opinion on this before we go campaign
50:52
advertising. And I consider myself to be friends. When there's about ninety a
50:54
percent of the people that are running for various offices, and I know most
50:58
listen to this show, either live or on the podcast. Campaign advertising has
51:01
become on the state wide level or for Congress or whatever it's become. You
51:06
know, I love Trump more than you. I could blow things up.
51:08
I hate trans people or whatever. I got a I saw an ad over
51:14
the weekend. I think I even send it to you. And I'm not
51:16
picking on this person personally, but a candidate for secretary of State who said
51:21
in their ad, I will secure the border. Now what what exactly?
51:27
What I mean? What does a secretary of state have to do with securing
51:30
the border? I worked at the secretaries that we were more concerned with voting
51:34
precincts than we were securing the border. Your thoughts and the Corporations division,
51:37
Oh yeah, that's it, and that's where that's where my experience was.
51:42
But people that run that kind of ad, especially the real negative ads like
51:47
come out of Morrissey's group, and they're not interested in this state. They're
51:52
interested in themselves. You have to ask yourself when you see an ad or
51:58
hear an ad, who are they interested in? And a lot of them
52:01
are just interested in themselves. I like more because he hadn't run those kind
52:06
of beds, and I hope he doesn't. But moricial, he'd do anything
52:10
to crawl in, crawl under and trying to get the governor's job. I
52:14
mean, I mean this guy, he'll he'll do anything. You're not a
52:17
fan, huh. I'm not a fan of a lot of these people.
52:22
I'm glad to be here, though I've been here before. I'm aware.
52:27
What do you think, Hey, we're remodeling. Do you have to come
52:29
back when remodeling's face? That's what I'm talking about. You got a face
52:32
for television. They got my radio, they got me out here before they
52:37
did all this. All right, Dandy, I appreciate you being here bad
52:39
Thanks lit, I'll be courageable coming up at ten oh six, will talk
