- 0:16Speaker 1: and he just.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Outruns the quarterback to the end zone for a six
- 0:20Speaker 2: yard touchdown.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Lafonte Smith as heard here on ninety seven three ESPN
- 0:26Speaker 3: Melo Reyes Mike Quick calling the DeVonta Smith touchout, which
- 0:29Speaker 3: was nice to see him get that touchdout after having
- 0:31Speaker 3: that drop earlier in the game. The usually reliable Davonta
- 0:34Speaker 3: Smith as the Eagles found their offense in the second half.

- 1:00Speaker 3: Jeff Moscher from the Inside the Birds podcast and Philly
- 1:02Speaker 3: Voyce joins us now on nine seven three ESPN.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Jeff, welcome in. How are you doing today?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Hey, guys, what's going on?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Not too much, So, you know, I want to kind
- 1:12Speaker 3: of ask you about a little bit about what happened
- 1:15Speaker 3: with the Eagles game because I feel like one of
- 1:17Speaker 3: the comments that you and Adam brought up on the
- 1:20Speaker 3: postgame show on Inside the Birds the post game, which
- 1:23Speaker 3: is how it was almost like, you know, in halftime,
- 1:26Speaker 3: it was like they got to have like find themselves again,
- 1:29Speaker 3: and I feel like all of the Delaware Valley was
- 1:31Speaker 3: losing their minds.
- 1:32Speaker 4: So they're down ten to seven to this Washington team.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And there's two sides of it, right, Jets one said, Well,
- 1:38Speaker 3: if Jake Elliott makes those field goals, that's the one
- 1:41Speaker 3: part of it.
- 1:41Speaker 4: But the other part of.
- 1:42Speaker 3: It is how does the offense, after doing what they
- 1:45Speaker 3: did against the Raiders struggle so badly in the first
- 1:49Speaker 3: half of that game.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you know, a big question I have is,
- 1:57Speaker 2: I know, I know it sounds strange, but how much
- 1:59Speaker 2: did the game plan change a little bit without having
- 2:02Speaker 2: Cam Ltsu Because the week before against the Raiders, they
- 2:06Speaker 2: came out and put three tight ends on the field
- 2:09Speaker 2: and played ground and pound football quite a bit, and
- 2:12Speaker 2: Lot two was in there and he really gives them
- 2:14Speaker 2: an element of blocking that Calcata doesn't. And you saw
- 2:17Speaker 2: against Washington they were a completely different looking offense conceptually
- 2:23Speaker 2: from the start. They were way more eleven personnel, spread
- 2:27Speaker 2: personnel spread empty, you know, where you have five out,
- 2:31Speaker 2: And it looked to me like they wanted to pass
- 2:34Speaker 2: to set up the run, as opposed to what they
- 2:36Speaker 2: did against the Raiders, which was work back, well, work
- 2:39Speaker 2: run to set up the pass.
- 2:41Speaker 1: So and some of it was successful. They went and scored.
- 2:43Speaker 2: You know, obviously they had the fumble on the kickoff,
- 2:45Speaker 2: so that put them back a little bit, and then
- 2:47Speaker 2: their second possession was very good. But by the third possession,
- 2:51Speaker 2: you know, they go down the field sixty seven yard
- 2:53Speaker 2: score touchdown. You talked about the nice route route to
- 2:56Speaker 2: DeVante Smith there. And then on their next two drives, Josh,
- 3:00Speaker 2: I mean they really they go twelve play sixty five yards,
- 3:03Speaker 2: eleven plays forty two yards, they get into Washington territory and.
- 3:07Speaker 1: They miss field goals.
- 3:08Speaker 2: So I mean I think that they they certainly to me,
- 3:12Speaker 2: you know, they'll never come out and say it, but
- 3:14Speaker 2: I think they wanted to pass the ball like that.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't think they wanted to be spread out. I
- 3:19Speaker 1: think they wanted to go quickly because Washington's.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Defense was so beat up and in the secondary and
- 3:24Speaker 2: easily and you saw, I mean, there were a lot
- 3:26Speaker 2: of connections where they got yards after the catch.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Shis just some easy pitch and catch moments for Jalen Hurts.
- 3:32Speaker 2: But the point I brought up in the in the
- 3:35Speaker 2: in the postgame show that you might.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Be talking about is that that's kind of not what
- 3:39Speaker 1: the Eagles are. And you know, like.
- 3:43Speaker 2: It came against Washington, so you take away the grain
- 3:45Speaker 2: of salt, and it seemed like they were two different
- 3:48Speaker 2: teams from one week to the next, from the Raiders
- 3:50Speaker 2: game to the Washington game.
- 3:51Speaker 1: And I just wonder if that's part.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Of them not really having a great identity this year offensively,
- 3:57Speaker 2: is that each week they're trying something different and hoping
- 4:01Speaker 2: that that is the formula as they move further away
- 4:04Speaker 2: from being an explosive run team that hits you from
- 4:06Speaker 2: the start and the finish.
- 4:08Speaker 4: And Jalen Hurts kind of addressed staff.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I can play the audio really quick here, Jeff, because
- 4:12Speaker 3: I thought Jalen was asked about that after the game,
- 4:15Speaker 3: about how he described it as are finding different ways
- 4:19Speaker 3: to win each week. Look with the audience here what
- 4:21Speaker 3: the Eagles quarterback had to say Saturday night.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Right now, We'll finding ways to win. I think we'll
- 4:25Speaker 5: finding ways to win. But it takes a component of
- 4:28Speaker 5: complimentary football as all, and that's always the.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Name of the game.
- 4:31Speaker 5: And being able to you know, be effishent I'm having
- 4:34Speaker 5: fishing runs, stay ahead of the sticks, be intentional about
- 4:37Speaker 5: what we're doing, set up as a sequence, hit the
- 4:39Speaker 5: way it's supposed to be sequenced, and ultimately be able
- 4:43Speaker 5: to adjust. Right, every game is different, you know, every
- 4:45Speaker 5: game is different. You saw it's under center last week.
- 4:48Speaker 5: You saw us doing more, you know, lots of play
- 4:50Speaker 5: action and even in weeks prior. So I think we
- 4:53Speaker 5: can go down every game this year and see a
- 4:55Speaker 5: difference in approach. I think that's okay for us to
- 4:57Speaker 5: be for that could be.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Who we are.
- 5:00Speaker 3: And well, I appreciate his answer, Jeff, to your point,
- 5:03Speaker 3: it's like, listen, they just went out there, We're gonna
- 5:06Speaker 3: run against you every week.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Basically they knew what they were doing last year.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah, their approach might have been moderately different like the
- 5:13Speaker 3: Steelers game for last year, but like they weren't literally
- 5:17Speaker 3: changing the script to each and every week, whereas this team,
- 5:20Speaker 3: it's like, from week to week, you don't know what
- 5:23Speaker 3: version of the offense you're getting.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And so that's why I'm trying not to put
- 5:28Speaker 2: too much of a value judgment, positive or negative on it,
- 5:31Speaker 2: because I.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Think we're all kind of curious where this is going.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I think some of the best teams in the league.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I know, some of the best teams in the league
- 5:39Speaker 2: are adaptable, meaning they can do different things right week
- 5:45Speaker 2: to week based on the matchup to be successful, whether
- 5:48Speaker 2: it's offense or defense.
- 5:50Speaker 1: The Eagles never really had to be that way last year.
- 5:53Speaker 1: They were basically going to win the same way. They
- 5:55Speaker 1: were gonna have a so so passing game that every
- 5:58Speaker 1: once in a while they would do something.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You know, like the Steelers game, they would come out
- 6:02Speaker 2: and throw the ball a little bit, but in general
- 6:04Speaker 2: they were gonna run the ball and play great defense.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I just wonder can they continue to live in this
- 6:11Speaker 2: environment of we're going to be different offensively week to
- 6:13Speaker 2: week when you get to the playoffs, will that work?
- 6:18Speaker 2: Will they be able to overcome the lack of a
- 6:21Speaker 2: really strong run game, or will they have a really
- 6:24Speaker 2: strong run game and be able to play the way
- 6:26Speaker 2: they played historically.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I can actually, if you want to widen the lens,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I can almost see I can almost.
- 6:34Speaker 2: See the way they're adapting now on offense being better
- 6:38Speaker 2: for the long haul than maybe this year. You know,
- 6:40Speaker 2: like maybe they get tripped up and losing a playoff
- 6:42Speaker 2: game because they're.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Just not functioning well as a pass offense against a
- 6:46Speaker 1: really good defense.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But because they've integrated all these concepts and have started
- 6:50Speaker 2: to work them better, by next year, maybe they you
- 6:53Speaker 2: expand and continue in and you're not relying on the
- 6:56Speaker 2: A line in the run game all the time.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Do you see a formula, Jeff, to where this team
- 7:01Speaker 6: can kind of infuse some identity into their offense. Like
- 7:06Speaker 6: the last two games, we've seen Jalen run a little
- 7:09Speaker 6: bit more. We've seen aj kind of moved around a
- 7:12Speaker 6: little bit more. We've seen a lot of like maybe
- 7:15Speaker 6: ten eleven yard twelve passes to move the chains, stay
- 7:19Speaker 6: on the field and get rid of the three and outs.
- 7:21Speaker 6: Is there a formula that the Eagles can kind of
- 7:24Speaker 6: go with in the playoffs?
- 7:27Speaker 2: I mean, well, there's positives they can tap into with this, right,
- 7:31Speaker 2: they can now something they couldn't say last year of
- 7:34Speaker 2: the year before is they can say, now, hey, we
- 7:37Speaker 2: have an under center play action game. We have an
- 7:40Speaker 2: under center running game. It's not very good. They're under
- 7:42Speaker 2: center running game, but their play action game has actually
- 7:45Speaker 2: been pretty good. Off of it, they can say we
- 7:48Speaker 2: can now go spread, empty, five wide, no protection, no
- 7:52Speaker 2: tight end, no running back in and throw the ball
- 7:54Speaker 2: around and give our receivers yards after the catch.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Right. And also, if you noticed, when you play that way,
- 8:00Speaker 1: it sets.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Up your ability to have the quarterback run and scramble.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I think we've seen that now over the last two
- 8:05Speaker 2: weeks more than we saw in the first thirteen weeks.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So there are all these things that they can.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Find upsides to in what they have added to their offense.
- 8:14Speaker 2: The question would be, is that going to work against
- 8:17Speaker 2: the Seahawks defense, the Rams defense, the Niners, whoever they
- 8:21Speaker 2: have to play, you know whatever, and then you know
- 8:24Speaker 2: whoever they play in the conference championship were a super
- 8:26Speaker 2: Bowl because they're sort of right now finding their ways
- 8:31Speaker 2: and all of these They're not excellent at any one of.
- 8:33Speaker 1: These things, right.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I mean, even against the Commanders, they scored a touchdown
- 8:38Speaker 2: on the third.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Drive and then you don't hear from them again until
- 8:40Speaker 1: the third quarter.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Right, So they're very sporadic in what they do, but
- 8:46Speaker 2: now they're making other teams at least have to practice
- 8:49Speaker 2: against it and have a defense against it.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Go with Jeff Mosch from the Inside the Birch Podcast
- 8:55Speaker 3: of course, like subscribe Gallo where we get your podcast.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I'll you got all of this coverage in Philly Voice
- 8:59Speaker 3: as out at Jeff P. Mosher on the Twitter dex
- 9:02Speaker 3: platform joining us here all the sports bass Josh Josh
- 9:05Speaker 3: Henning along with Peg filling in for Mike Giel on
- 9:07Speaker 3: nine seven three ESPN. You know, Jeff indentally because you know,
- 9:11Speaker 3: with the offense going into the postseason, for a lot
- 9:14Speaker 3: of people talk about how the importance in the postseason
- 9:18Speaker 3: is you gotta be able to play fundamental offense, you
- 9:21Speaker 3: gotta play defense.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Right, So is it as simple as hey? The Eagles are.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Zero and four this year when they have two or
- 9:26Speaker 3: more turnovers. They're ten to one when they have one
- 9:29Speaker 3: or less turnovers. So is as simple as hey, when
- 9:32Speaker 3: we get to the postseason, let the defense do what
- 9:35Speaker 3: they do.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Offense don't lose the game for us.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's yeah, yes.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Right, I mean that was yes, yes, yes, that was
- 9:45Speaker 2: the formula last year and I mean continues if you're
- 9:48Speaker 2: gonna if you're gonna ask, and I'm not gonna be
- 9:50Speaker 2: the only one to say this, which side of the
- 9:52Speaker 2: ball over the last few weeks has been the most
- 9:54Speaker 2: consistent for the Eagles.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It's been the defense and they're rounding into form for sure.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Uh and they'll get Jillen carter back and that's their rock.
- 10:03Speaker 2: If they get a twenty four point game from their
- 10:07Speaker 2: offense or more, then you're like, whoa, Now you're really.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Assuming that you can get a twenty four point game.
- 10:12Speaker 2: You're probably not turning the ball over, right, because you
- 10:14Speaker 2: get more possessions. So yeah, if they limit possessions can
- 10:18Speaker 2: score in the mid to upper twenties, then you really
- 10:21Speaker 2: like their chances.
- 10:22Speaker 1: It's just it feels like, I don't want to say.
- 10:26Speaker 2: It's been a while since they faced a really good
- 10:27Speaker 2: playoff defense, because there was just a couple of weeks
- 10:29Speaker 2: agoing against the Chargers and they didn't perform well.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Now, some of that was.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Fluky because they turned the ball over five times, but
- 10:35Speaker 2: some of those turnovers were just good plays by the Chargers. Too,
- 10:39Speaker 2: So I just you know, this Buffalo Bills game will
- 10:43Speaker 2: be interesting because the Bills don't have.
- 10:44Speaker 1: The greatest defense, but because they can score on pretty
- 10:48Speaker 1: much anybody, it does feel.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Like you will have score some points to win this game,
- 10:53Speaker 2: no matter how good your defense plays.
- 10:55Speaker 3: With that being said, there was reports that came out
- 10:58Speaker 3: this morning Jeff stating that the expectation is that Jillian
- 11:02Speaker 3: Carter and Lane Johnson are going to be back on Sunday.
- 11:05Speaker 3: My question is should they be back? You know, you
- 11:08Speaker 3: could argue that, hey, John Carter, we don't really need
- 11:11Speaker 3: you until the postseason. That was the original concept of
- 11:14Speaker 3: him getting the you know, the procedure done right that
- 11:17Speaker 3: he was supposed to be ready for the postseason. And
- 11:18Speaker 3: then Lane, it's like, hey Lane, you know you've been
- 11:21Speaker 3: injured multiple times this year, you know what, take extra
- 11:24Speaker 3: two weeks off? So like, is it even smart to
- 11:27Speaker 3: have those guys come back for a game on the
- 11:30Speaker 3: road in Buffalo and potentially in clement weather.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean I do think it's important because
- 11:39Speaker 2: they're still seating at stake and you can you could
- 11:43Speaker 2: easily you could lose this game if you don't have
- 11:44Speaker 2: two of your best players And how good is it
- 11:47Speaker 2: to go into the playoffs with one win in your
- 11:51Speaker 2: last two games, where if they do decide to rest
- 11:54Speaker 2: the starters against Washington and to lose, that is it
- 11:56Speaker 2: great to go in on a two game losing streak.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I think it starts with the Bills.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You want to play your best players. Plus you want
- 12:04Speaker 2: if they were to bit miss both games, that's about
- 12:08Speaker 2: six weeks. I mean, how much time and conditioning do
- 12:11Speaker 2: you want them to lose?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Remember they played Goddard.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Last year in the season finale, I think for the
- 12:16Speaker 2: first half because he had so much time, and he
- 12:19Speaker 2: wound up being the leader in receptions and receiving yards
- 12:22Speaker 2: in the postseason. Now, I'm not doing the closet effect
- 12:26Speaker 2: thing like saying that because he did that. He did that,
- 12:28Speaker 2: But they obviously saw the value in getting his getting
- 12:31Speaker 2: him on some grass, you know, and getting his conditioning
- 12:34Speaker 2: in there and having him ready for the playoffs.
- 12:37Speaker 4: All right, Jeff, time to address the outfit in the room.
- 12:39Speaker 4: He's been a topic all show long. Jake Elliott.
- 12:43Speaker 6: Two misses on Saturday, really three when you count the
- 12:47Speaker 6: other one there, and he just hasn't been the same
- 12:50Speaker 6: kicker you know, he's kind of his His accuracy is
- 12:53Speaker 6: almost below seventy, which is really unheard of in today's NFL.
- 12:58Speaker 6: What's your read on Jake Elliott? Probably too late in
- 13:01Speaker 6: the games of bringing a guy off the street. You
- 13:04Speaker 6: just cross your fingers and hope he's he is a
- 13:06Speaker 6: big game kicker.
- 13:07Speaker 4: You just cross your fingers and going.
- 13:08Speaker 1: To the playoffs with him. Yeah, I think so.
- 13:12Speaker 2: First of all, shout out to the Philadelphia Inquirer editor
- 13:14Speaker 2: who headlined Jeff Nyberg story Missy Elliott.
- 13:17Speaker 1: That was fantastic. I almost wish I would have thought
- 13:21Speaker 1: of it myself.
- 13:23Speaker 4: That brings it back to your high school days, right, Jeff.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Oh my gosh? Yeah?
- 13:26Speaker 2: Absolutely, And then and had you know I was that
- 13:31Speaker 2: old beat man.
- 13:34Speaker 4: The same age.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Okay, all right, So as far as Elliott, though, I mean, listen,
- 13:40Speaker 2: my thirty two kickers started kickers in the league.
- 13:43Speaker 1: If almost any single one of them had.
- 13:46Speaker 2: A track record this year, like Jake Elliott had, what
- 13:49Speaker 2: does he got like seven missus eight missus in the
- 13:51Speaker 2: last nine or ten weeks, that guy is getting at
- 13:55Speaker 2: very least that guy is getting competition, Okay, if not
- 13:58Speaker 2: replaced outright, Jake Elliott's different. He's meant a lots in
- 14:02Speaker 2: the franchise. I believe Nick Sirianni when he says he's
- 14:08Speaker 2: going to not bring in somebody when he says, I
- 14:11Speaker 2: have the utmost faith. I'm not sure, but I would
- 14:14Speaker 2: imagine the Eagle's plan is to fix Jake Elliott and
- 14:17Speaker 2: not replace Jake Elliott, and that if they tried to
- 14:21Speaker 2: bring in just someone as an over the shoulder kind
- 14:24Speaker 2: of like maybe we'll have this guy in practice, I
- 14:27Speaker 2: don't think that would help fix what's ailing Jake Elliott.
- 14:30Speaker 2: It might actually make it worse.
- 14:32Speaker 6: Well, what's your read on him going for two there
- 14:34Speaker 6: at the end of the game.
- 14:36Speaker 4: You know, he says it was math.
- 14:37Speaker 6: I don't think anyone's scared of Josh Johnson coming down
- 14:40Speaker 6: the field multiple times and winning the game for the Commanders.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Was that a warning shot.
- 14:44Speaker 6: To Jake Elliott?
- 14:45Speaker 4: Maybe? Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I was pretty vocal on that in the postgame show.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I thought it was a bad idea.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I wouldn't have done it. I don't think it was necessary.
- 14:53Speaker 2: If anything, you can, I don't think you can hurt
- 14:55Speaker 2: your kicker at that point much more, even if he
- 14:57Speaker 2: misses the pat because you're gonna he got worked do
- 15:00Speaker 2: this week regardless, right, but if he makes it, at
- 15:02Speaker 2: least he saw a ball go through the uprights, right right,
- 15:05Speaker 2: going for two. Nick Sirianni can talk about the math.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh you all, I guarantee you I can find a game, uh,
- 15:11Speaker 2: whether this year, last year where they were up by
- 15:13Speaker 2: that many points and didn't go for two on it?
- 15:16Speaker 1: Okay, I mean some people are coming at me like, oh,
- 15:18Speaker 1: this is math. Oh you're weak.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Oh no, because what happened was you made the team mad,
- 15:23Speaker 2: started to fight and then your right guard is underneath
- 15:25Speaker 2: a pile of six commanders at one point like that.
- 15:27Speaker 1: That was just unnecessary. It's just not necessary.
- 15:31Speaker 4: By the way, really quick j.
- 15:33Speaker 3: They're fortunate that Steam didn't get suspended. The league came
- 15:37Speaker 3: out today. The report from Madam Schefter was that it's
- 15:40Speaker 3: just gonna be fine. Well, the league could have turned
- 15:42Speaker 3: around and been like, yo, you're suspended. Like then what happens?
- 15:45Speaker 3: Then you're like, well, Lane Johnson, welcome back. You're playing
- 15:48Speaker 3: next to Matt pryor.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 4: What's what's his reasoning for?
- 15:52Speaker 6: Is it just another weird Nick Sirianni like clock management,
- 15:56Speaker 6: game management.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I really think he just didn't want to put his
- 15:59Speaker 2: kicker out there. I think he didn't want to, and
- 16:01Speaker 2: and honestly.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I don't think he was. I will side with Dick
- 16:04Speaker 1: on this.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I don't think even if it looks that way, he
- 16:07Speaker 2: was trying to rub it in to Washington.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I don't think he was trying to make a statement.
- 16:11Speaker 1: In fact, the fact that he ran a.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Very basic inside zone ye yes, instead of like trying
- 16:17Speaker 2: to do rub routes.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You know everybody tries to do the rub routes yea, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So the fact that he just basically he was basically telling.
- 16:27Speaker 2: You, I just don't want to put my kicker on
- 16:28Speaker 2: the field and I'll.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Just run it up the middle. I'm not trying to
- 16:31Speaker 1: trying to embarrass.
- 16:31Speaker 2: But it wasn't taken that way because they scored, so yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 2: So I just I would have ran my kicker out there.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I mean, yea.
- 16:40Speaker 3: You you can double check with Greg Cosal. Would you
- 16:42Speaker 3: guys do the inside of the tape this week on
- 16:43Speaker 3: the Inside the Birds platforms, Jeff, But I'm pretty sure
- 16:46Speaker 3: that that play that they ran, that rum play was
- 16:49Speaker 3: the same exact one that you guys have talk with
- 16:51Speaker 3: Cosell about multiple times this year. That has not worked
- 16:55Speaker 3: for them in different short yard situations. So it was
- 16:58Speaker 3: almost ironic they ran play and it kind of worked
- 17:02Speaker 3: because of the fact that it was like almost the
- 17:05Speaker 3: entire year they've been running that same play and it
- 17:07Speaker 3: hasn't worked.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, And honestly, like a lot like that run, Like
- 17:11Speaker 2: a lot of those runs by Saquon was more on
- 17:13Speaker 2: Saquon just powering his way into the end zone. I
- 17:17Speaker 2: mean some of Saquon's best runs. This is why I'm
- 17:21Speaker 2: not like convinced that the run game is back, because
- 17:24Speaker 2: the only thing I felt back was Saquon making people
- 17:27Speaker 2: miss in that game. There weren't good blocks I should
- 17:29Speaker 2: I shouldn't completely there were some good run blocks, and
- 17:32Speaker 2: they ran some gap scheme, which is what they've been
- 17:34Speaker 2: doing lately.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Also, the Jeff the one play one play that they
- 17:39Speaker 3: had the big run by Saquon, that was Goddard who
- 17:42Speaker 3: did the crack back.
- 17:43Speaker 4: That's usually a lot to on that play.
- 17:46Speaker 3: So we should also admit that that the Eagles were like, hey, Dallas,
- 17:49Speaker 3: we we need you to play the Latsu role here
- 17:52Speaker 3: because well, grant Galcatara ain't doing it right.
- 17:55Speaker 1: No, certainly not so.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Running game and zone outside zone, inside zone. But every
- 18:04Speaker 2: once in a while you'll see like alignment pull or
- 18:08Speaker 2: a tight end and alignment pull a.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Pinpull or hat on half blocking, and the Eagles are
- 18:12Speaker 1: doing that a little bit more as well to try
- 18:14Speaker 1: to get their un game going.
- 18:16Speaker 6: Yeah, like on the Tank Bigsby run, I mean you
- 18:18Speaker 6: watch the tape. You see, Uh is that Dickerson all
- 18:21Speaker 6: the way down the field?
- 18:23Speaker 4: Ye?
- 18:23Speaker 6: On that run and that that's kind of reminant of
- 18:26Speaker 6: what we saw last year with this team.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Uh yeah, except last year what you would see is
- 18:32Speaker 2: a lot more zone and like a guy getting into
- 18:35Speaker 2: the second level.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I have to check the Bigsby one out. I don't
- 18:38Speaker 1: know if that was gap or.
- 18:38Speaker 2: It was just somebody jumping into the second level, which
- 18:41Speaker 2: is a zone run.
- 18:42Speaker 3: But either way, jumped into the second level, that was
- 18:44Speaker 3: a specific.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Right, But if it was pulling around the side they
- 18:49Speaker 2: could that might be.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It all depends on the on the blocking sketch itself.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And then if it's.
- 18:55Speaker 2: If he's just kind of double teaming and then climbing
- 18:58Speaker 2: to the second level, that tends to be that inside
- 19:00Speaker 2: zone climbing.
- 19:02Speaker 3: So we're watching the replay right now, me and Pete.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It looks like he's just climbing to the second level.
- 19:07Speaker 1: So, yeah, that was a pitch to the left.
- 19:08Speaker 3: If I'm not mistaken, it was a pitch to the left,
- 19:10Speaker 3: but Dickerson didn't come outside the tackle.
- 19:13Speaker 4: He kind of stayed his lane.
- 19:15Speaker 6: I mean, that's the Lanta Dickerson we know in Love
- 19:17Speaker 6: right right, that's the land, that's the that's the athlete
- 19:20Speaker 6: that he drafted.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and this is a this is a zone run.
- 19:23Speaker 1: This is outside zone. They're all kind of moving laterally.
- 19:25Speaker 2: I'm watching it too, And then yes, they just happened
- 19:29Speaker 2: to get good bodies out there, but this is definitely
- 19:32Speaker 2: an outside zone run.
- 19:34Speaker 1: A pitch and uh, you know big, you know, Yes,
- 19:37Speaker 1: Dickerson does a nice job. He climbed. I mean he's
- 19:39Speaker 1: still to me, looks a little bit. I don't know him.
- 19:42Speaker 1: And Jurgens too, they look a little slower.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Like for example, on that run, Jurgens tries to make
- 19:48Speaker 2: an angle block on whoever number three is Aluvu and
- 19:51Speaker 2: you can you can almost you can almost watch him
- 19:54Speaker 2: fully rotate, whereas in the past he was usually like
- 19:58Speaker 2: bang bang, like that movement. That's what makes him different
- 20:01Speaker 2: and special and unique, just sort of like the way
- 20:03Speaker 2: Kelsey was is that they can angle block so well
- 20:06Speaker 2: for a guy weighs three hundred pounds. But I still
- 20:09Speaker 2: think those two guys are They're playing hard, but they're
- 20:12Speaker 2: not They're not playing like they were last year.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Jeff, before we let you go, I did want to
- 20:16Speaker 3: ask you a question that I've been criticized by Mike Gill,
- 20:19Speaker 3: but he's not here to defend himself or stop me
- 20:21Speaker 3: from asking you. So I have said in the past,
- 20:25Speaker 3: I think part of the criticism out there needs to
- 20:28Speaker 3: be laid on Jeff Stoutling because you saw more penalties
- 20:32Speaker 3: on the O line on Saturday night. We have seen
- 20:36Speaker 3: you know them, you know, I mean, he's the one
- 20:37Speaker 3: who pay Listen. I don't think for one minute High
- 20:40Speaker 3: Roseen's like, you know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna
- 20:42Speaker 3: do this whether Jeff Stotland likes.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It or not.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Like I don't think his roster is constructed without his
- 20:46Speaker 3: like you know, check mark on some of these guys,
- 20:48Speaker 3: and you know some of the You could argue that
- 20:51Speaker 3: this is the first time in a long time the
- 20:52Speaker 3: depth on the O line is not as good as
- 20:55Speaker 3: it used to be in years past, and there have
- 20:57Speaker 3: been games where the penalties the execute us is not great,
- 21:01Speaker 3: and I just wonder, like, you know, I'm not saying
- 21:04Speaker 3: I want just Allen fired or anything, but I'm saying that,
- 21:07Speaker 3: you know, I think should be there should be a
- 21:10Speaker 3: measure of blame placed on his desk or whatever you
- 21:13Speaker 3: want to call it, to say, Hey, you're supposed to
- 21:15Speaker 3: be the best O line coach of football, we expect
- 21:18Speaker 3: more of your offensive line.
- 21:20Speaker 2: A man, you're asking me to get involved in a
- 21:22Speaker 2: guilt heading dispute, and I gotta be the mediator to this.
- 21:28Speaker 2: The only thing I could say to that, Josh that
- 21:30Speaker 2: might counter what you're saying is it is very It's
- 21:33Speaker 2: it's tough when you've got.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Guys who are not one hundred percent.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I think that there's a fair argument to be made
- 21:39Speaker 2: that for too many weeks, since he is the run designer,
- 21:43Speaker 2: they kept trying to run the same kind of runs
- 21:45Speaker 2: and it took him a while to.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Get under center. Go gap ski, you do all these things.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So if you want to bang him on lack of
- 21:52Speaker 2: adjustment in the run game, sooner, but you also have
- 21:56Speaker 2: to do as a staff. I mean, he doesn't he's
- 21:57Speaker 2: not the be all to end all, he's just the
- 22:00Speaker 2: run game designer.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I mean that that.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Takes oversight as well from Patullo and from Siriani, so
- 22:08Speaker 2: that that part maybe you can bang them on. But
- 22:10Speaker 2: I think ordinarily though, if this offensive line was just
- 22:13Speaker 2: healthier and uh and my a Lota has had penalties
- 22:16Speaker 2: and not played well. And I'm not like bad coaching.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I just sometimes you just sometimes you just don't have
- 22:23Speaker 2: your best year, you know, So I can't explain it either.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I've always felt and I'm not saying I think I've
- 22:29Speaker 2: talked to you about this before. I've always felt that
- 22:32Speaker 2: my Alta is a great story but was a.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Little bit like everybody wanted them to be all pro
- 22:38Speaker 1: and pro bo last year.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I feel like he, as much as anybody else on
- 22:43Speaker 2: the line, benefits from Jalen's ability to get out of
- 22:46Speaker 2: dodge really quickly, Like they don't have to hold their
- 22:48Speaker 2: blocks as longer as say teams with quarterbacks who play
- 22:53Speaker 2: in the pocket right right, so they get a little.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Bit of a benefit there.
- 22:57Speaker 2: And maybe this year where the pocket present or the
- 23:01Speaker 2: whole passing game hasn't been as good as reflected on
- 23:04Speaker 2: him a little bit. But he just for whatever reason,
- 23:06Speaker 2: hasn't been himself.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Well, that's predicted.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Jeff Moser hinted that in the most classic manner possible
- 23:11Speaker 3: here on Football at four Power, by the Inside the
- 23:13Speaker 3: Birch Podcast of course, like subscribe a Deallo wherever you
- 23:16Speaker 3: get the podcasts, and of course tomorrow Adam Capel will
