- 2:58Speaker 1: author and the new book. Tag boy, whoever get me for?
- 3:02Speaker 3: Will I have one?
- 3:04Speaker 1: So you just been to be able to keep some
- 3:06Speaker 1: books in my hand. But I'm like, guess, I guess
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's some way. I'm a cheap date, if you want
- 3:11Speaker 1: to say that. So, you guys, I got my new
- 3:14Speaker 1: author who is coming up tonight and I am going
- 3:18Speaker 1: to be talking to author q Bell. So as soon
- 3:23Speaker 1: as we get her camera up and working, we're going
- 3:26Speaker 1: to bring her up. But she has her book, you guys,
- 3:30Speaker 1: let me give y'all a little look at this book.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It is called the The Evolution of Me. Okay, let
- 3:39Speaker 1: me tell you a little bit about this one. She
- 3:41Speaker 1: takes her readers on a journey through the pains and
- 3:45Speaker 1: traumas of her life forced that force her to accept,
- 3:50Speaker 1: from the perils of abuse to the pain of abandonment.
- 3:53Speaker 1: She seems to enjoy more pain than pleasure from her
- 3:57Speaker 1: childhood to her early adult life. All the life has
- 4:02Speaker 1: dealt her a bad hand. She never stopped believing in
- 4:05Speaker 1: herself as she reassured that there was a space of
- 4:10Speaker 1: happiness in life for her. All right, So she's going
- 4:15Speaker 1: to take you through her journey of healing and a
- 4:18Speaker 1: lot of people, we all understand that our healing comes
- 4:21Speaker 1: from most of the time books. Okay, So she is
- 4:26Speaker 1: going to be with us tonight and there she is. Hey,
- 4:32Speaker 1: how are you. I am good? I am good. Welcome
- 4:40Speaker 1: to sie book, Gallas and friends. So before we read
- 4:47Speaker 1: you for your book, girl, but before we go to
- 4:52Speaker 1: the book, tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Okay, my name is Q Tello. That's my government name,
- 5:01Speaker 3: but I go by Q. Being going by Q since
- 5:06Speaker 3: I was in second grade, my teacher couldn't say my name,
- 5:08Speaker 3: so she started calling me q and I've been going
- 5:10Speaker 3: by Q or I go by Keisha. My family called
- 5:13Speaker 3: me Keisha and close friends called me Keisha. I'm originally
- 5:18Speaker 3: from Alabama. I just relocated to Texas a couple of
- 5:23Speaker 3: couple of months ago. And I used to travel. I
- 5:27Speaker 3: used to travel and the travel in the healthcare industry.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And now I'm not traveling, and I'm sitting down and
- 5:32Speaker 3: being being still and waiting on God, of course, and
- 5:37Speaker 3: you know, and being obedient. That's the number one thing.
- 5:41Speaker 1: That's a heavy word.
- 5:47Speaker 3: That's heavy word. And I was raised by my grandmother
- 5:52Speaker 3: until I was nine years old, and then I went
- 5:55Speaker 3: into foster care because my mom went to prison for
- 6:00Speaker 3: committing a murder allegedly. Uh they you know, they said
- 6:05Speaker 3: my mom helped my auntie killer baby that never existed.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And my mom got did ten years in prison while
- 6:12Speaker 3: we went to foster care. And so I survived that
- 6:17Speaker 3: with the grace of the Lord. Of course, I survived
- 6:21Speaker 3: all of it. If it wasn't for God, I wouldn't
- 6:23Speaker 3: be where I'm at today.
- 6:26Speaker 1: You go and look at y'all. She has such a
- 6:28Speaker 1: beautiful so can't wait thinking that smart you got this
- 6:32Speaker 1: so pretty like everything you've been through that smiles, just
- 6:36Speaker 1: like I've been through it and I'm over here and
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm making to do what it.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Is it's called healed.
- 6:42Speaker 1: There you go, see you obedience healed. But you gotta
- 6:50Speaker 1: go through the pain of obedience at times to get
- 6:54Speaker 1: to that beautiful piece of healing. That's just cute, yes, girl.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So what made you want to become an author?
- 7:06Speaker 3: I wanted to be able to Well. When I was
- 7:10Speaker 3: in you know, when we first went to foster care,
- 7:15Speaker 3: you know, I had a behavior problem and I used
- 7:17Speaker 3: to fight, you know, especially when someone says something about
- 7:21Speaker 3: my mother, especially like when I was in the seventh grade.
- 7:25Speaker 3: The kids used to say, your mom a baby killer.
- 7:27Speaker 3: And I said, yeah, I'm a killer too, cause we're
- 7:29Speaker 3: finna fight. I'm gonna beat you up. So, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 3: I had develop an anger problem.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Wow.
- 7:34Speaker 3: And so that counselors was like, you need to you
- 7:38Speaker 3: need to speak to somebody. You need to talk to somebody.
- 7:41Speaker 3: So I had a counselor that I used to talk to.
- 7:44Speaker 3: He was originally he was from out of Mobile, Alabama,
- 7:47Speaker 3: and I was in the country. It was a small
- 7:51Speaker 3: country called small county called Chalkdaw County, is where I'm
- 7:56Speaker 3: originally from and the city is listening. Alabama is where
- 7:59Speaker 3: I'm aly from. So Mobile was like the number two
- 8:03Speaker 3: county compared to Choctaw. And so they, the counselors came
- 8:09Speaker 3: from Mobile to visit me at school. Wow, kids can
- 8:15Speaker 3: be crue and yeah they can. And my counselor used
- 8:19Speaker 3: to tell me, why don't you just start writing everything
- 8:22Speaker 3: down on how you feel and writing it down on
- 8:24Speaker 3: how you feel that way, it'll help you develop. It'll
- 8:28Speaker 3: help you develop healing in the process of what's going on,
- 8:31Speaker 3: because at that time it was a lot to process.
- 8:34Speaker 3: If it makes any sense, I was like my mother's mother,
- 8:37Speaker 3: if that makes any sense. My mother looked at my
- 8:41Speaker 3: mother looked at an eight year old child for directions.
- 8:49Speaker 3: That's deep. So I used to help my mom like
- 8:52Speaker 3: I took care of my mom. I used to help
- 8:54Speaker 3: my mom. And you know I did that for my mom.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Wow, that's deep.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 1: But you're here, damn, and you have a purpose.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I do.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And so let's talk about this purpose. Let's talk about it.
- 9:18Speaker 4: This book. Your book, your book. Let's talk about this book.
- 9:28Speaker 4: So tell me a little bit about your book.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Okay, So I wrote a when I when I wrote
- 9:36Speaker 3: my book, I talk a lot about my mom, and
- 9:39Speaker 3: I talk about the main part of my book where
- 9:42Speaker 3: I like to talk about the most, and it just
- 9:47Speaker 3: it hit, it hit, it just hits, it hits every
- 9:52Speaker 3: time called. The title is the Family Orphaned and and
- 9:58Speaker 3: I chose to be that because at eight years old,
- 10:03Speaker 3: when the people came, when Human Resource Department came out
- 10:06Speaker 3: to my grandmother's slave house when and to come and
- 10:10Speaker 3: talk to us and stuff. And I told my social worker.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I told her at the time, I said, can you
- 10:18Speaker 3: please get me out of this house so I can
- 10:20Speaker 3: go and learn something about life so I can come
- 10:22Speaker 3: back and take care of my grandmother. And they was like, okay,
- 10:29Speaker 3: well I don't understand, babe. She was just misremonable. I
- 10:33Speaker 3: just don't understand. I said, I promise you you'll never
- 10:36Speaker 3: regret this decision. So she did. And you know, even
- 10:41Speaker 3: though it was it was trying. I'm not gonna lie.
- 10:45Speaker 3: It was trying because you're talking about somebody that was
- 10:48Speaker 3: molested over three hundred, three hundred times. But I didn't
- 10:53Speaker 3: let that stop me from graduating high school. All I
- 10:56Speaker 3: wanted to do at eight years old to graduate high
- 10:58Speaker 3: school because I wanted to great break generational curses over
- 11:03Speaker 3: my family, so I just didn't worry about that. I
- 11:08Speaker 3: was gonna deal with that later on in life. That's
- 11:10Speaker 3: what I had in my brain that I was going
- 11:11Speaker 3: to focus on that later on. I just wanted to
- 11:13Speaker 3: graduate high school.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So how did it feel when you graduated from high school?
- 11:21Speaker 3: Well, May the eighteenth of two thousand and seven. I
- 11:27Speaker 3: was the first one in my family to graduate. And
- 11:31Speaker 3: when they called my name, I wanted them to call
- 11:34Speaker 3: it twice because I wanted them to know that, hey,
- 11:37Speaker 3: a bell graduated with a high school diploma, not a certificate,
- 11:42Speaker 3: not with you know, people in our town, it is
- 11:46Speaker 3: so small, and it's like people prey on people downfalls,
- 11:52Speaker 3: and so my family was the talk of the neighborhoods
- 11:57Speaker 3: and stuff. They it's always a out the bells. This,
- 12:01Speaker 3: oh them bells, them bells, them bells. But guess what,
- 12:05Speaker 3: this bell graduated and this bell wasn't playing. And I
- 12:09Speaker 3: did that because of God, not because of me. God
- 12:13Speaker 3: gave me that power to do what I needed to do.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Because when I was little, my grandmother used to tell
- 12:20Speaker 3: me when I would when I was learning how to pray,
- 12:23Speaker 3: because I used to see her praying. I asked her
- 12:25Speaker 3: what she was doing. She said she was talking to
- 12:27Speaker 3: the Lord, And I asked her. So she told me,
- 12:29Speaker 3: she said, you always pray for wisdom and knowledge and understanding.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Mmm, what's some knowledge and understand that? Yeah, yo, I've
- 12:40Speaker 1: never heard anybody say that before.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Oh yeah, my grandma used to tell me that. My grandma,
- 12:45Speaker 3: she used to tell me that she she lived to
- 12:48Speaker 3: she she was there at my graduation, and she was
- 12:53Speaker 3: she lived to be ninety seven years old, and she
- 12:56Speaker 3: was there for me.
- 12:58Speaker 1: That is beautiful. That's a good, healthy life. Ninety seven
- 13:04Speaker 1: crazy And now look at Granny looking at you. She
- 13:07Speaker 1: got looking out. I truly do believe that our family
- 13:15Speaker 1: members are always down hereing us on when things like
- 13:19Speaker 1: this happened, these big moments in our lives, even something
- 13:22Speaker 1: as little as doing the podcast. They said, I pull up, Jesus,
- 13:27Speaker 1: can I just do this for thirty minutes? And I
- 13:30Speaker 1: promise you I'm coming to prayer. But I needed her
- 13:32Speaker 1: to know that I'm there for her. I'm pretty sure
- 13:35Speaker 1: God sitting there all right, I'm giving you a pass.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Go sit up there and look for her for thirty minutes,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but come.
- 13:40Speaker 3: On back and I used to tell my I used
- 13:43Speaker 3: to tell the people that used to molest me. I
- 13:45Speaker 3: used to tell them, I said, God ain't pleased with you.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I said, but you go ahead and do what you
- 13:49Speaker 3: gotta do. Well, you're gonna get you. I promise you that.
- 13:53Speaker 3: And I was a kid telling that, telling them that
- 13:55Speaker 3: I was a kid telling them that. Wow, So you know,
- 14:01Speaker 3: you know, and that's then that's something right there, you know,
- 14:04Speaker 3: to be able to have that wheel power, to be
- 14:07Speaker 3: able to say things like that to somebody that is
- 14:11Speaker 3: torturing you.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I I can't wrap my head around me. Yes, this
- 14:20Speaker 1: is one of these one times that I cannot wrap
- 14:23Speaker 1: my head around it.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am. So you know, and now just about all
- 14:29Speaker 3: of them, all of them are deceased because you don't
- 14:32Speaker 3: mess with God's chosen people. And I keep telling people
- 14:35Speaker 3: that y'all better, they better, they better stop, don't be
- 14:38Speaker 3: messing with God's chosen. But you know that's neither here
- 14:42Speaker 3: nor there.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yep, we're gonna have We're gonna let God handle Lord.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Does not He does not be playing about his chosen ones,
- 14:58Speaker 3: because you know, we didn't have And the reason why
- 15:01Speaker 3: I'm chosen because my parents you know, they brought me
- 15:05Speaker 3: into this world, but they couldn't take care of me,
- 15:08Speaker 3: and so you know I had to God had to
- 15:12Speaker 3: take care of me.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yea God. So this book cover is beautiful. Let's thank
- 15:21Speaker 1: you out with that. Who created your book cover?
- 15:26Speaker 3: Well, I had a I had a lady that I
- 15:32Speaker 3: was working with at the time. She was we was
- 15:36Speaker 3: creating book covers, and so I told her that I
- 15:38Speaker 3: wanted a picture of my mother. And that's actually a
- 15:42Speaker 3: picture of my mother that's thrown on at the half
- 15:45Speaker 3: of face. That's actually my mother that that I had created.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you.
- 16:01Speaker 1: That's so beautiful.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Thank you, Oh my God.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So I read the synopsis of the book, of course
- 16:10Speaker 1: I did, But now I want to hear about your
- 16:12Speaker 1: book and your words. So tell us a little about
- 16:17Speaker 1: the evolution of me.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Well, like I said, you know, I wanted to let
- 16:25Speaker 3: the foster kids, particularly let the false kids know, if
- 16:30Speaker 3: I can do it, you can do it. And I
- 16:33Speaker 3: thought my life was hard, but some of these, some
- 16:36Speaker 3: of the some of the kids, life is worse than mine.
- 16:39Speaker 3: So and I wanted to create a book so I
- 16:44Speaker 3: could create something I can tell my story on how
- 16:49Speaker 3: I survived and and you know, it's it's you know,
- 16:53Speaker 3: based on a true story through the eyes of a survivor.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And I wanted to be able to share share that
- 16:59Speaker 3: with with Falster kids and women, young women, you know,
- 17:04Speaker 3: all over the world, so that they can they can
- 17:07Speaker 3: see you can get through the rape. You can get
- 17:09Speaker 3: through you can get through it. It's a process, and
- 17:13Speaker 3: it's not gonna happen all overnight, of course not, but
- 17:16Speaker 3: you have to you have to allow yourself to get
- 17:19Speaker 3: through it. And so I wanted to tell my tell
- 17:23Speaker 3: my testimony through the book so that people can see, hey,
- 17:29Speaker 3: this person did it. Let me let me be like Q,
- 17:32Speaker 3: or let me be better than Q, you know, so
- 17:34Speaker 3: that they can understand, like, you can get through this.
- 17:38Speaker 3: This is a process. Look at what God did for me,
- 17:42Speaker 3: He'll do the same for you. He loved all of us,
- 17:45Speaker 3: you know, he loved all of his kids. So let's
- 17:48Speaker 3: just come on, let's just go. Let me. Let me
- 17:51Speaker 3: follow Q and uh, let me get it together, let
- 17:54Speaker 3: me get my life together. Somebody out there loves you,
- 17:58Speaker 3: Somebody Q loves me, you know. I just I just
- 18:01Speaker 3: wanted to share that, and I wanted to I wanted
- 18:03Speaker 3: to make sure that my make sure my foster families
- 18:07Speaker 3: that the Falster kids and who I'm relating to, that
- 18:10Speaker 3: they understand that we're a family. Even though you don't
- 18:13Speaker 3: know me, we're family because once you meet another Falter child,
- 18:18Speaker 3: from a Fosster child to another Falster child, you you
- 18:21Speaker 3: automatically have that connection. And so I wanted to be
- 18:26Speaker 3: able to tell my story and reach the Falter kids
- 18:30Speaker 3: because that's that's the number one thing. Because when you
- 18:33Speaker 3: out there, you've been told that don't nobody love you,
- 18:37Speaker 3: don't nobody care about you, don't you know? And you
- 18:40Speaker 3: you just out there like wow, God, like what what?
- 18:42Speaker 3: Why do I have to go through this? Why do
- 18:44Speaker 3: I have to do this? Why do I have to
- 18:46Speaker 3: do that? You know, you just and you just feel
- 18:48Speaker 3: you alone, and I just want to make I would
- 18:52Speaker 3: just want to bring light to it that you're not
- 18:53Speaker 3: alone you. It's people out here that don't went through
- 18:56Speaker 3: to some of the stuff that you done went through.
- 18:58Speaker 3: So let me be a help to help you get
- 19:00Speaker 3: through the process with God help, of course, not just me,
- 19:04Speaker 3: because Q can't do it about Q. Q got to
- 19:06Speaker 3: do it through God. Let's just work.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Together, okay, y'all? She done took over the whole interview.
- 19:13Speaker 1: All the questions can't please Ringle one of them that
- 19:16Speaker 1: I have. I guess what, I bet you she won't
- 19:19Speaker 1: know these ones because it's fun time.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Oh lord, it's fun time.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Because this book is beautiful. You guys, God, I want
- 19:28Speaker 1: you all to go grab it. But y'all know how
- 19:30Speaker 1: we do it. So your book is going to be
- 19:35Speaker 1: made into an audio book.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Okay, yes, who would.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You love to narrow narrate your book? And why did
- 19:46Speaker 1: you choose them? But but, but but it has to
- 19:52Speaker 1: be a gospel artist and let's say old schools. So
- 20:00Speaker 1: we're talking like John Pea, key Mahellia Jackson, CC whining.
- 20:07Speaker 3: That's who I was about to say.
- 20:10Speaker 1: CC is okay, why CC.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I just love her style of music, mer her style,
- 20:18Speaker 3: the way she sings. I just can relate to it.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It's just so calm, and I'm in in my life now,
- 20:29Speaker 3: I'm in I'm in the mode of of just being
- 20:32Speaker 3: humble and I'm just calm. Just it's not a storm anymore.
- 20:38Speaker 3: The storm is over, so I'm just floating and relaxing.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Oh okay, So if you could choose one of her songs,
- 20:49Speaker 1: because you know, every good book and every good. Yeah,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I told you you you have to choose a song
- 20:59Speaker 1: that would be the first track of the soundtrack of
- 21:03Speaker 1: the Evolution of Me. What song would it be?
- 21:07Speaker 3: The song with her and BB one go her brother Patients.
- 21:14Speaker 3: It's it's called patience, patience something. It's that song. I'm
- 21:23Speaker 3: trying to I'm trying to get the name of that song.
- 21:27Speaker 3: But it's that particular song. They sing it together. It's
- 21:31Speaker 3: like a love song technic.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah you heard h Yeah, yeah, it's yeah, yeah, that's
- 21:43Speaker 1: close to you. I want to be close to you. Okay, okay.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So now we got the book by you, We got
- 21:56Speaker 1: B B and c C. Why it's with the soundtrack
- 21:59Speaker 1: with their track me close to You? M hm. Now
- 22:03Speaker 1: we gotta find out who's gonna play your part in
- 22:06Speaker 1: the movie? Just your part? Who who is going to
- 22:10Speaker 1: play the character of the Evolution of Me?
- 22:13Speaker 3: Who would it be Henderson?
- 22:16Speaker 1: Everybody wants to Raji, it's Angela back Why.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Tavolaus Alla days? This can be my mom?
- 22:28Speaker 1: Oh by all the days was to be your mom?
- 22:30Speaker 1: All right? So why did you choose Taraji Henson?
- 22:36Speaker 3: Cause she she has a she she she has this
- 22:41Speaker 3: she has this thing about her where it's she can
- 22:45Speaker 3: take it up, and she can take it down, and
- 22:48Speaker 3: I love.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That she really can't. She really can't.
- 22:52Speaker 3: And occup I used to be able to take it
- 22:55Speaker 3: up all the way up, be ready, and then I
- 22:57Speaker 3: knew how to take it down too on top of it.
- 22:59Speaker 3: So that's why we we're kind of compatible.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Okay, so we got the book, we got bbn CC
- 23:10Speaker 1: close to you, Taji Pearson. But now Lifetime says, you
- 23:15Speaker 1: know what, this is just so much we want to

- 24:13Speaker 3: Well, I see a lot of the wisdom, and my
- 24:17Speaker 3: grandma used My grandma had a lot of wisdom. And
- 24:20Speaker 3: my grandmother her name was Lucy Kate Tucker. She was
- 24:26Speaker 3: born in nineteen ten, and she had a lot of wisdom.
- 24:29Speaker 3: And I learned so much from her. And she used
- 24:32Speaker 3: to pray over me and stuff she you know, and

- 25:06Speaker 3: even though the house was not uh suitable to live in,
- 25:10Speaker 3: but it was the most happiness. I was so happy
- 25:14Speaker 3: there with my grandmother. I didn't care that about the house.
