- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey
- 0:04Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word. Your pain
- 0:08Speaker 1: is real, but it is not your identity. Psalms 9
- 0:13Speaker 1: and 9 says the Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
- 0:16Speaker 1: a stronghold in times of trouble. Y'all, let's be honest.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Life doesn't always treat us fairly. People disappoint us. Doors
- 0:24Speaker 1: close in our faces. We experience painful losses, unexpected setbacks,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and situations we never asked for. Sometimes we find ourselves asking, God,
- 0:35Speaker 1: why did this happen to me? And while we can't
- 0:38Speaker 1: always control what happens to us, we can seek God's
- 0:41Speaker 1: help in deciding how we move forward. Psalms 99 reminds
- 0:46Speaker 1: us that the Lord is our refuge and stronghold in
- 0:49Speaker 1: times of trouble. A refuge is a place of safety.
- 0:52Speaker 1: A stronghold is a place of protection. In other words,
- 0:56Speaker 1: when life knocks you down, you have somewhere to turn.
- 0:59Speaker 1: You don't have to carry every hurt, fight every battle,
- 1:02Speaker 1: or figure everything out by yourself. but here's something you've
- 1:05Speaker 1: got to remember. What happened to you is a part
- 1:08Speaker 1: of your story, but it does not have to become
- 1:10Speaker 1: your identity. Come on, Jesus. Maybe you were rejected when
- 1:15Speaker 1: you needed acceptance. Maybe somebody you trusted betrayed you. Perhaps
- 1:19Speaker 1: you grew up without the support you deserve, lost someone
- 1:22Speaker 1: you deeply love, or faced a challenge that changed your life.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Those experiences matter, and you don't have to pretend they
- 1:30Speaker 1: didn't hurt. But don't let what hurt you convince you
- 1:33Speaker 1: that you can never heal. Don't let yesterday's disappointment steal
- 1:37Speaker 1: today's hope, and don't allow someone else's mistreatment to determine
- 1:42Speaker 1: how you see yourself for the rest of your life.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Refusing to live as a victim doesn't mean denying your pain,
- 1:48Speaker 1: ignoring injustice, or pretending you're okay when you're not. It
- 1:52Speaker 1: means refusing to let pain have the final say over
- 1:56Speaker 1: your future. Sometimes moving forward requires prayer, time healthy boundaries
- 2:01Speaker 1: support from others and the courage to take one small
- 2:05Speaker 1: step at a time and through every step god can
- 2:09Speaker 1: be your strength you may not be able to change
- 2:12Speaker 1: what happened yesterday but with god's help you can begin
- 2:16Speaker 1: making choices that move you toward healing freedom and peace
- 2:21Speaker 1: What was meant to break your spirit does not have
- 2:24Speaker 1: to destroy your purpose. So stop measuring your future by
- 2:27Speaker 1: the worst things you've experienced. You are still growing. You
- 2:31Speaker 1: are still learning. There is still purpose in your life
- 2:34Speaker 1: and there is still room for joy again. You may
- 2:37Speaker 1: have been wounded, but you are not worthless. You may
- 2:40Speaker 1: have been knocked down, but you are not counted out. today.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Take your pain to God. Let him strengthen you, restore
- 2:47Speaker 1: your hope, and help you move forward. You don't have
- 2:50Speaker 1: to let your circumstances define you. With God as your refuge,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you can face what happened without surrendering your future to it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You are more than what you've been through, and your
- 3:00Speaker 1: story is not over. Oh, Father, thank you. Thank you
- 3:05Speaker 1: for being our refuge and strength in times of trouble.
- 3:07Speaker 1: You know every hurt we've carried, every disappointment we've endured,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and every battle we fought in silence. Help us to
- 3:13Speaker 1: heal without becoming bitter, remembering. without remaining trapped in the past,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and move forward without fear. Oh, give us the courage
- 3:22Speaker 1: to seek help when we need it and the wisdom
- 3:24Speaker 1: to establish healthy boundaries. Restore our hope, God, and remind
- 3:28Speaker 1: us that our circumstances do not determine our worth. Oh, God,
- 3:32Speaker 1: with your help, we will move forward in faith in
- 3:35Speaker 1: Jesus' name. Now, that's your word for today. Take it,
- 3:37Speaker 1: apply it to your everyday life, and you continue to
- 3:40Speaker 1: be encouraged and inspired. It's your early morning praise party.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I am Sherri Mackey.
