Speaker 5: Yeah, it did, and it's really a neat-looking vehicle, so tell us so.
• 1:21
Speaker 4: you mentioned, though, your first car was a A 68 Dodge Coronet 440 with a 440 Magnum in it.
• 1:29
Speaker 5: Right, and that's why you fell in love with this one, yeah.
• 1:32
Speaker 4: My mother hates herself for that too.
• 1:34
Speaker 5: Oh, well, tell us some more about this one.
• 1:39
Speaker 1: Why do you say, your mother hates you more for that?
• 1:40
Speaker 4: Because she paid a lot of lawyers, a lot of money for tickets.
• 1:43
Speaker 4: So you used the whole road.
• 1:52
  Speaker 4: Whose fault?
• 1:52
Speaker 2: is that yeah, yeah, well, it's your mother's fault, apparently, at least.
• 1:54
Speaker 2: So, yep, you're right, you don't?
• 1:55
Speaker 4: have any of her traits or habits or anything?
• 1:56
Speaker 1: do you, uh, probably yeah, well, how long ago was that?
• 1:58
Speaker 4: a few years ago that's been a long time ago, yeah uh, that that's not the case today.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: Apparently, you take very good care of this car.
• 2:05
Speaker 2: Well, we have a law firm for in-wheel time.
• 2:07
Speaker 2: They're Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.
• 2:08
Speaker 2: We'll give you their number.
• 2:10
  Speaker 2: Thank you, yeah.
• 2:13
Speaker 1: And when you get done with that.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: If you're looking for some surgery, we've got Dr Howard, dr.
• 2:18
Speaker 4: Fine Dr Howard Yep.
• 2:21
Speaker 1: And then the other doctor that we have on staff is Dr Vinny Boombatz.
• 2:25
  Speaker 2: That's it, that's him.
• 2:26
Speaker 5: He fills in on the weekends Nice.
• 2:29
Speaker 2: Sorry, okay, enough about that.
• 2:32
Speaker 2: So do you live out in this area.
• 2:33
Speaker 4: I live in the Spring Branch area.
• 2:35
Speaker 1: Okay, just down there.
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: How did?
• 2:38
Speaker 4: your house survive all the storms.
• 2:39
Speaker 4: We had power out for like four days, yeah, and you got it back now.
• 2:42
Speaker 4: Yes, it is on Well.
• 2:43
Speaker 1: I flew over that area and I'll tell you what it's toe up over there, as we say toe up.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: So this storm that came through a derecho.
• 2:52
Speaker 2: I think that's the way you pronounce it something like that Wind over so many miles.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: I've never heard of such a thing before, but it gathered up steam out there in the spring Cypress area and it came down, basically generally speaking down highway 290, and it tore up everything, including those great big, humongous power towers, as we like to call them, where the, with the the main line electricity comes into town from power plants outside Transmission lines.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: And it crumpled them down on the ground.
• 3:29
  Speaker 5: That bad, that's a problem.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, that is a problem.
• 3:31
Speaker 1: Matter of fact, they closed 290, I think, this morning for a half an hour out there between 34th and Mangum to be able to string new lines across the freeway way above.
• 3:43
Speaker 1: But string them across the freeway, uh it.
• 3:46
Speaker 2: It has been an absolute nightmare for people and there are still today people living without power yeah, it's not many, but they're still and you feel bad for them because it was almost a million or at a million people when it first initially happened.
• 3:59
Speaker 2: Uh, thankfully, where we're at, we didn't have power loss no, we, we didn't.
• 4:04
Speaker 2: My son lost power.
• 4:05
Speaker 2: He came to live with us for the few days and then, just before the power came out of his house, our air conditioner went out.
• 4:13
Speaker 5: So things happen, yeah, things happen, but all is good right now.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: So do you keep the car down in Spring Branch?
• 4:21
Speaker 4: I actually store it at the West Houston Airport.
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: Oh, you do.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a friend that has a hangar there, so do you know Stan?
• 4:32
Speaker 1: I've met him, yeah, okay, well, stan's out there when they're in town and he has a hangar full of cars out there, so you're in good company out there.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, and every once in a while we get to land out there and get gas.
• 4:39
Speaker 1: Every once in a while we get to land out there and get gas, despite Woody and his attitude.
• 4:45
Speaker 4: I know, woody Do you.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: Yes, am I right.
• 4:49
Speaker 4: Well, he's always been very nice to me.
• 4:51
Speaker 4: I used to take care of his mom's dog.
• 4:54
Speaker 4: Okay, well, so you got the inside track.
• 4:58
  Speaker 1: I never did.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: I knew Stan and so that killed that right there.
• 5:01
Speaker 1: Any kind of relationship with Woody, Anyway, another story for another day.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: So this is not your first Tailpipes and Tacos.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: You've been at this event before, haven't?
• 5:11
  Speaker 4: you.
• 5:11
Speaker 4: Yes, sir, I have Several times.
• 5:13
  Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're a regular.
• 5:16
Speaker 4: Well, most people wouldn't call me regular.
• 5:20
  Speaker 1: Well, okay.
• 5:21
  Speaker 4: See, we're irregular.
• 5:22
Speaker 2: Okay, well then, I fit in Exactly.
• 5:23
Speaker 2: And Well, okay, see, we're irregular, okay, but then I fit in Exactly.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: And do you have another car?
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Show that you have, because you mentioned to me something in the fall coming up.
• 5:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, October the 19th at the Old Spring Branch High School in Westview.
• 5:36
  Speaker 4: I believe it's 1916.
• 5:39
Speaker 1: And so any particular reason for the club or what?
• 5:43
Speaker 4: It supports the foundation of the school.
• 5:46
Speaker 4: We keep alive the memory of the Bear and we've got a lot of the memorabilia football jerseys, all the brigade uniforms and just the history of the area.
• 5:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, because the school closed down, right.
• 5:58
  Speaker 5: Well, it's a cornerstone now.
• 6:01
Speaker 4: So, just part of it, but they let us have the museum and the other part.
• 6:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, we actually got a little museum set up.
• 6:08
Speaker 1: I will tell you that, and I'm not going to tell you what year, but you may or may not recognize this, but I remember going from Westbury, where I lived in southwest Houston, and my best friend, he, went to live with his mother in Spring Branch and there was no beltway, there was no loop.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: It was a North Post Oak or a Post Oak or they turned it a North Post Oak to get to Spring Branch.
• 6:33
Speaker 1: That's how you got to that part of town.
• 6:35
Speaker 1: It was a day's drive Well, not a whole day, but you understand what I'm saying it took a while to get up there and understand that.
• 6:45
Speaker 1: You know, spring Branch was really kind of out in the country when Spring Branch started.
• 6:49
Speaker 1: Really, yeah, it was out in the country.
• 6:52
Speaker 1: Well, obviously the city swallowed that up decades ago.
• 6:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's interesting to see the progression of the way that Houston has grown and Spring Branch back in the 50s, I think, is what it really got going, uh, on the edge of town, um, it was uh, well, a lot of history there, obviously with the high school.
• 7:11
Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, did you go?
• 7:14
Speaker 1: That you went there?
• 7:15
  Speaker 4: actually I did.
• 7:16
  Speaker 4: You're a spring branch girl, I'm a spring branch girl.
• 7:18
Speaker 4: Oh my god one of the few left I would imagine oh, there's quite a few of us left over there Still today.
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: That's good.
• 7:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, are you the only one that's a car nut?
• 7:31
Speaker 4: No, there's several others.
• 7:32
  Speaker 1: There are Uh-huh.
• 7:33
Speaker 2: Are they here with us?
• 7:34
Speaker 4: No, they're not with us today, but some of the guys I went to school with, they got their original cars, and so they'll be at the show this year.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: Very nice cars and so they'll be at the show this year.
• 7:49
  Speaker 1: Very nice.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: And when is that show?
• 7:49
Speaker 1: October the 19th, october the 19th, and is there a name for the show?
• 7:51
Speaker 1: You got a facebook.
• 7:52
Speaker 4: Uh, it's place to go, it's back to the past is what it's called very cool and um.
• 7:56
Speaker 4: There is a website.
• 7:58
Speaker 4: If you go to the spring branch bearscom, you can pull up and you can also view the museum.
• 8:06
  Speaker 2: Interesting.
• 8:10
Speaker 4: Is this your group here?
• 8:10
Speaker 4: Yes, it's my husband.
• 8:11

• 8:22
Speaker 2: You know something happening.
• 8:24
Speaker 4: You know, old things don't start all the time.
• 8:26
Speaker 4: I was just going to say I know.
• 8:27
Speaker 1: Have you met Don yeah exactly, yeah, thank you, yeah, for pointing that out.
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: That's very true.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you don't have any room to talk.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: No, I got a surprise birthday party tomorrow.
• 8:38
Speaker 2: I got a little bit of room.
• 8:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, very little, but he's got some room.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: So anything that stands out here as far as you're concerned with the cars, All the cars are beautiful.
• 8:49
Speaker 4: The Beast here is pretty cool looking.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: The Beast, the Beast, the blue Yep, that's his car.

  Speaker 1: Okay, very nice.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know, you know what?

Speaker 1: Don't laugh at me, because we used to laugh at the car back in the day, the one that stood out to me, the izetta yep with the longhorns on the front of it yeah car yeah, it's, yeah, it's a farm car.
• 9:24
Speaker 5: A farm car, yeah, a farm car.
• 9:26
Speaker 5: It's a ranch car, a ranch car Hauling hay in it and maybe some Herding cattle.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, the only car that I know of that you get in past the windshield by the entire one front door on it.
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: It's pretty bizarre.
• 9:39
Speaker 1: You've got to close the door to steer it, have you?
• 9:41
Speaker 1: Been over there to talk to the folks at God's Garage.
• 9:45
Speaker 4: You need them at your car show?

• 10:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, did you get the history with it or anything?
• 10:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, it has matching numbers, so it's mostly all original.
• 10:37
Speaker 4: I have had the interior redone, but it's stock.
• 10:39
  Speaker 3: It's a stock car.
• 10:41

  Speaker 2: Yeah, would you?
• 10:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, automatic, yeah, those those torque flights they were tearing up.
• 10:57
Speaker 1: It didn't take much to beef them up, and they'd be really good do you, uh, do you drive it often or just to shows and stuff?
• 11:03
Speaker 4: and not as much as I should, but now that summer's come, I'll probably drive it a lot more.
• 11:07

• 11:34
Speaker 4: I mean, it looks like a real gasser it is, it's a four-door.
• 11:38
  Speaker 4: Nice.
• 11:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll have to get that guy on, because even if it's not a real gasser, it sure does look like one.
• 11:46
Speaker 5: Well, I don't know why it wouldn't be.
• 11:49
Speaker 4: It looks like it's got a straight front axle.
• 11:50
Speaker 4: It says gasser on it.
• 11:52
Speaker 1: It's even labeled with a gasser?
• 11:53

• 12:07
Speaker 5: No, no, the next parking lot's open too.

• 17:11
  Speaker 2: So listen up.
• 17:12
Speaker 2: They do this by analyzing the data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or the NHTSA.
• 17:19
Speaker 2: Number six and I picked the six because Texas made number six During the years that were studied, 2,192 fatal crashes happened in Texas with speeds as the cause.
• 17:35
Speaker 2: 14% of them were at 80 miles an hour or higher.
• 17:39
Speaker 2: 5% happened at 100 miles an hour or higher.
• 17:44
Speaker 2: So slow down, it's a holiday weekend.
• 17:47
Speaker 2: I'm going to keep saying that.
• 17:49
Speaker 2: Number five in this.
• 17:50

• 17:52
Speaker 2: Number five Wyoming Wide open spaces.
• 17:55
Speaker 2: Wyoming had 1% of the vehicles and fatal crashes that were traveling at 100 mph was among the lowest in the US.
• 18:02
Speaker 2: However, over 14% of the 659 speed-related fatalities occurred at 80 mph.
• 18:10
Speaker 2: It's an unwanted ranking of being fifth on the list.
• 18:14
Speaker 2: Number four East Coaster Connecticut.
• 18:18
Speaker 2: Connecticut may have only 333 fatal vehicle crashes due to speed, but 16% of those and higher were traveling at 80 miles an hour or more.
• 18:28
Speaker 2: 6% traveled at 100 miles an hour or faster, landing at fourth worst state in the nation for high-speed fatal crashes, Number three, Illinois.
• 18:39
Speaker 2: 1,300 speed-related fatal crashes occurred in Illinois.
• 18:43
Speaker 2: 1,300 fatal crashes of that were 16% were traveling at 80 miles per hour.
• 18:50
Speaker 2: We're on a mission from God, that's it, 6% were traveling at over 100 miles per hour.
• 18:55
  Speaker 2: All in donkey.
• 18:56
Speaker 2: Here's one that you wouldn't think would be on the list Alaska.
• 18:59
Speaker 2: Alaska's percentage of vehicles in fatal crashes were traveling at 80 miles per hour.
• 19:03
Speaker 1: Well, nobody lives there, and those that get on the freeway, that means they're doing.
• 19:07
  Speaker 1: I don't think there's a freeway, I don't think there's a freeway, they got snowmobile tracks 8%.
• 19:13
Speaker 2: It's less than Montana.
• 19:14
Speaker 2: Montana was in there, but nevertheless the last frontier statistic is far from the national average 7.5%.
• 19:22
Speaker 2: Vehicles traveling at 100 miles per hour or more was 6%.
• 19:26
Speaker 2: The number one state, Montana, has the highest number of high-speed fatal crashes.
• 19:32
Speaker 1: This is the study.
• 19:35
Speaker 2: Even though it's a low amount, it's the speed they go at, so they're flying down the roads.
• 19:39
Speaker 2: Of the 214 speed-related crashes recorded, 30.3% of them occurred at 80 miles per hour and almost 12% at 100 miles per hour.
• 19:49

Speaker 5: There's two monkeys out there.
• 20:16
  Speaker 5: Wow they're twins?
• 20:18
Speaker 1: No, we don't need to find them, we don't need to.
• 20:20
  Speaker 1: All right.
• 20:22
Speaker 2: That's what it is.
• 20:23
Speaker 2: It has nothing to do with the car show.
• 20:24
Speaker 2: Well, maybe the monkey drove here.
• 20:26
Speaker 2: Well there's no doubt the autopilot.

Speaker 1: He's the one that books our guests.
• 20:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, hey man, how are you?
• 20:43

• 20:45
Speaker 1: Who oh peter, oh my god peter's here, peter's here.
• 20:58
  Speaker 2: Where's Peter?
• 20:58
Speaker 1: And he drove the Isetta yeah.
• 21:00
Speaker 2: He's probably still in it.
• 21:01
  Speaker 2: He's a tall guy isn't he?
• 21:02
  Speaker 1: Yeah, he is.
• 21:03
Speaker 1: He can't get out.
• 21:04
Speaker 1: He can't get out.
• 21:04
Speaker 1: There's no doubt about it.
• 21:05
Speaker 1: Oh no, all right, so here's what we're going to do.
• 21:10
Speaker 1: Mr Mars, I need you to participate in this.
• 21:13
Speaker 1: We're going to do the sold cars?
• 21:16
  Speaker 3: roundup.
• 21:17
Speaker 1: It's on upon a con, on upon a con.
• 21:19
  Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
• 21:22
Speaker 2: I'll just do it right here.
• 21:22
Speaker 2: Here is the sold cars roundup for the week.
• 21:26
Speaker 1: David, you can participate in this as well.
• 21:28
Speaker 1: So what do you think a 1995 Toyota 4Runner clean looks.
• 21:38
Speaker 1: We always called you.
• 21:41
Speaker 2: No, we were calling you because of your car.
• 21:43
Speaker 2: The car, no, no, that's not yours is it the.
• 21:47
  Speaker 2: Izeta.
• 21:48
Speaker 1: You bought the car.
• 21:49
Speaker 1: See, I thought it was out of Stan's collection.
• 21:51
  Speaker 1: No, it's yours.
• 21:52
Speaker 2: We thought you were still in it, because you're kind of a tall guy and you couldn't get out.
• 21:55
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 21:56
Speaker 1: Well, we want to talk to you about the eyes.
• 21:58
Speaker 1: Matter of fact, I'll tell you what.
• 21:59
Speaker 1: We're going to pause this.
• 22:00
Speaker 1: Have him sit down there and talk about the eyes.
• 22:02
Speaker 1: Tell us about the eyes, and what son are you?
• 22:11
Speaker 3: I am number three Number three.
• 22:14
Speaker 5: All right, that'd be Peter Peter.
• 22:16
Speaker 1: Yep, so this is Peter Holt, and he and I have known each other for quite some time.
• 22:23
Speaker 1: I'm sorry, no, no, it's all good.
• 22:26
Speaker 5: I was talking to him, yeah.
• 22:28
  Speaker 1: Oh, Appreciate it.
• 22:29
Speaker 1: But when the Isetta rolled in, of all the really nice cars that are here, the really cool cars, the hot rods, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, the one that caught my eye and clearly it caught yours as well at some point in your life was the Izetta.
• 22:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, I always wanted a high-performance European sports car there you go Low maintenance.
• 22:56
Speaker 3: What's it got about 35 horsepower I don't even know if they use horses as a measurement.
• 23:03
Speaker 3: No the horns on the front might be cows or something, yeah it does definitely have horns on it.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: Well, it's a Texas car so it's got to have the horns, all right.
• 23:11
Speaker 1: So I need to know all about the car, how long you've had it.
• 23:15
Speaker 1: I mean it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.
• 23:20
Speaker 3: I did just have it completely redone.
• 23:22
Speaker 3: It was in pretty good shape when I got it.
• 23:25
Speaker 1: Who done it for you.
• 23:28
  Speaker 3: Isetta's R Us in Georgia.
• 23:31
  Speaker 1: Isetta's R Us.
• 23:32
Speaker 1: Yes, there is such a thing and you found it.
• 23:36
  Speaker 3: I did.
• 23:36
Speaker 3: Well, that's where everybody goes to source the parts for them but they just do the work gone full time and they were just doing it on the side.
• 23:44
Speaker 3: Now they've gone full time and are actually working on the cars.
• 23:46
Speaker 1: Oh, my god, and they and so and I I had it.
• 23:48
Speaker 3: There was a I think it was a four or five month waiting list to get in and then they had it for about 90 days and I told them, go for it, yeah, whatever it takes and and so did you have it shipped over there.
• 24:00
Speaker 3: I did have it shipped over there, yeah.
• 24:03
Speaker 1: I can't imagine trying to keep up with traffic on I-10.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, I've had quite a few requests for, you know, top speed.
• 24:12
Speaker 2: I said I've had it up to 70.
• 24:13
Speaker 2: But you drove it here today.
• 24:14
Speaker 3: Well, I said I had it up to 70, but that was on the trailer.
• 24:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, I said I had it up to 70, but that was on the trailer.
• 24:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, I was just going to say that sunroof really started to flap.
• 24:22
Speaker 3: I thought I should probably just ease off a little bit.
• 24:25
Speaker 2: Put a wing on it If you don't know what an IZETA is.
• 24:27
Speaker 1: I encourage you to go online, google IZETA and you're going to go.
• 24:31
  Speaker 1: What?
• 24:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, or just look up one-door cars, one-door cars.
• 24:35
Speaker 3: That's it One Door Cars, one Door.
• 24:36
  Speaker 1: Cars.
• 24:36
  Speaker 1: That's it.
• 24:36
Speaker 1: So for those that don't know, that are listening, maybe, perhaps, to this show on a podcast or are really attuned to things like Izettas Doug, how are you, sir?
• 24:46
Speaker 1: It's good to see you that this particular car has one door and you enter from the front of the car and you kind of fall back into it.
• 24:58
Speaker 1: Will it fit three people?
• 25:01
Speaker 1: I think originally the plan was for it to fit three, but I don't know how you would do that two is about it.
• 25:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say three would be very, very tight, they would have to be very small now?
• 25:12
Speaker 1: does it have an automatic transmission?
• 25:14
  Speaker 3: it's manual.
• 25:14
  Speaker 3: It's a manual two speed.
• 25:16
  Speaker 3: No, it it's a manual Two-speed.
• 25:17
  Speaker 3: No, it's a four-speed and it's left-hand.
• 25:19
Speaker 1: Okay, oh, and it's completely reversed.
• 25:21
Speaker 1: That is oh God.
• 25:23
Speaker 3: One is down, I'd be grinding.
• 25:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd be grinding.
• 25:26
Speaker 2: And the left, left and right, two and a half.
• 25:28
Speaker 2: So all right Upside down and backwards.
• 25:32
Speaker 1: And the other question that I was going to ask you is do you know the specs on the engine?
• 25:38
  Speaker 1: Is it a one-cylinder?
• 25:39
Speaker 1: It is a one-cylinder, it's a one-cylinder motor and we don't know really the true horsepower of this car, but I would say it's probably not much more than 50.
• 25:50
Speaker 1: I would be surprised if it's 50, if it's that high.
• 25:55
Speaker 1: All I can think of that comes to mind is Cushman.
• 25:58
Speaker 1: Are you familiar with a Cushman motorcycle Golf?
• 26:02
Speaker 3: carts I've heard of it.
• 26:03
  Speaker 3: Okay, golf carts.
• 26:03
  Speaker 3: A Cushman.
• 26:06
  Speaker 1: I can't read that, david.
• 26:07
Speaker 1: What does it say?
• 26:08
Speaker 1: Does it say how many horsepower it's got?
• 26:10
  Speaker 1: 12 horsepower, 12.
• 26:14
Speaker 5: Top speed of 53.
• 26:15
  Speaker 5: In a row.
• 26:16
  Speaker 3: It's got 12 in a row.
• 26:17
Speaker 3: Well, they're from the glue factory.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: And it says here top speed is 53.
• 26:22
Speaker 1: So you've been pushing the red line on that.
• 26:24
Speaker 3: Well, he was sitting on the trailer.
• 26:26
Speaker 5: Well it was 70 was on the trailer.
• 26:28
Speaker 5: Oh, I see that's right being towed.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: But I've had it up to 50.
• 26:36
Speaker 1: That's a Saturday Night Live thing.
• 26:38
Speaker 1: You wouldn't know anything about that.
• 26:39
Speaker 2: Hold on, I've got to put the camera back on.
• 26:40
Speaker 2: Do that again, I can kick.
• 26:43
  Speaker 1: I can stretch.
• 26:44
  Speaker 1: I'm 50.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: 50 years old, I need me another one of those bloody cars?
• 26:48
  Speaker 2: No, you don't.
• 26:50
Speaker 1: Peter, it's good to talk to you.

Speaker 3: This is the most I've ever seen.
• 27:04
Speaker 3: I know the last one was a rain out.
• 27:08
