- 3:09staffer at Newton Wellesley Hospital, has been
- 3:12diagnosed with a brain tumor, raising concerns
- 3:15about a possible cluster of similar cases among
- 3:18her colleagues. After working in the maternity
- 3:21ward for more than a decade, Connelly experienced
- 3:24troubling symptoms that led to her medical leave
- 3:27in 2018. Following her diagnosis in March 2025,
- 3:32she discovered that she was the seventh known
- 3:35case, connected to her former unit. Connelly
- 3:39expressed frustration over the hospital's lack
- 3:41of communication about these cases, stating,
- 3:44Statistically, it just doesn't make sense. She
- 3:48calls for an independent investigation into the
- 3:51situation. Now on to sports. Scottie Scheffler,
- 4:01the world number one, has claimed his second
- 4:04major title of the season at the PGA Championship,
- 4:07winning by five strokes at Quail Hollow in Charlotte,
- 4:11North Carolina. Despite not being at his best,
- 4:15Scheffler secured victory with an impressive
- 4:1711 under par. This win marks his third major
- 4:22championship. After a shaky start where he briefly
- 4:26lost his five -stroke lead, Scheffler regained
- 4:29his composure, showcasing his dominance. He has
- 4:33held the top ranking since May 2023 and is now
- 4:37halfway to a career Grand Slam with the U .S.
- 4:40and British Opens approaching. in local sports.
- 4:45Yesterday afternoon at Fenway, the Sox fell to
- 4:48the Braves 10 -4. Despite Rafi Devers hitting
- 4:52a massive grand slam, the Braves proved too strong.
- 4:57Bayo took the loss, giving up five runs over

- 5:28battle Kode Senga. First pitch is slated for
- 5:326 .45, with temperatures around 58 degrees. In
- 5:37top news... Our return -to -office mandate is
- 5:41a subtle way for companies to encourage employees
- 5:44to quit. This theory, once dismissed as cynical,
- 5:49is gaining traction. For instance, Amazon's decision
- 5:53to end hybrid work prompted an executive to say,
- 5:56there are other companies around. Similar sentiments
- 6:00were echoed by Elon Musk, who welcomed a wave
- 6:03of voluntary terminations. While some firms believe
- 6:07that in -person work boosts productivity, it
- 6:10risks losing top talent. Research shows that
- 6:14hybrid work enhances engagement and retention.
- 6:17Companies might consider adopting more flexible
- 6:20policies to retain their best employees while
- 6:23navigating these challenging times. In business
- 6:28news, Verizon's $20 billion merger with Frontier,
- 6:33a fiber internet provider, has received approval
- 6:36from the Federal Communications Commission. This
- 6:39agreement allows Verizon to upgrade and expand
- 6:42Frontier's fiber networks, aiming to connect
- 6:451 million homes annually. The deal was contingent
- 6:49upon Verizon's commitment to ending diversity
- 6:52equity and inclusion practices, as stated by
- 6:55SCC Chair Brendan Carr. Verizon will eliminate
- 7:00human resources roles focused on DEI. and remove
- 7:04related terminology from employee training. This
- 7:07merger also allows Verizon to reclaim parts of
- 7:10its fiber business sold in 2015, which will enhance
- 7:14connectivity in various communities. In crypto
- 7:18movement, Bitcoin is up 0 .5 % over the weekend
- 7:22to about $105 ,000. Ethereum is down 7 % to just
- 7:29under $2 ,400. And Goatsy's Maximus is down 1
- 7:34% to 15 cents. Moving on to a more local vibe.

- 8:25Let's talk science. A recent study reveals that
- 8:29a genetic mutation allows some individuals to
- 8:32thrive on just four hours of sleep. While most
- 8:36require about eight to nine hours to feel rested,
- 8:38this short sleep mutation enables people to function
- 8:42well after only three to six hours. Neuroscientist
- 8:46Yinghuo Fu discovered a new mutation affecting
- 8:49the gene, which plays a role in regulating metabolism
- 8:52and circadian rhythm. This research, published
- 8:57in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy
- 8:59of Sciences, may lead to new treatments for sleep
- 9:02disorders, enhancing our understanding of sleep's
- 9:05genetic foundations. And in entertainment news,
- 9:12Christopher Nolan's upcoming film, The Odyssey,
- 9:15will make history as the first feature film shot
- 9:18entirely on IMAX film. The company had to create
- 9:23new film cameras to achieve this groundbreaking
- 9:26feat. While Avengers Infinity War was the first
- 9:30film shot using IMAX hardware, the Odyssey stands
- 9:34out for using film rather than digital technology.
- 9:39IMAX CEO Rich Gelfand shared that the project
- 9:42began with a challenge from Nolan, who urged
- 9:45IMAX to innovate. The new cameras are lighter,
- 9:49quieter, and will eventually be available to
- 9:51other filmmakers after the Odyssey completes
- 9:54production. Well, alrighty folks, it's time for
- 9:59the quote of the day. And today, our quote comes
- 10:03from the British naturalist and geologist, Charles
- 10:06Darwin. And he said, It is not the strongest
- 10:11of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent,
- 10:14but the one most responsive to change. And that's
- 10:19a wrap for this morning. You can check out our
- 10:22Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for some captivating
- 10:26aerial videos with local news and the weather
