- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line, second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones a single setback Matt pump Facks looking at
- 0:14Speaker 1: the goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. I'm
- 0:34Speaker 1: Michael bump Is. He is Nasaid Choby, and this is
- 0:36Speaker 1: Hog Talk Preview week three that Cowboys are coming to town.
- 0:41Speaker 1: But before we dive into that, injury updates with Nasad Choby, Well, thanks,
- 0:45Speaker 1: bump I wish I had better news, but this injury
- 0:47Speaker 1: update is definitely starting on a somber note. He Carroll
- 0:50Speaker 1: stepped up to the podium this week and provided updates
- 0:53Speaker 1: on Bruce Irvin, Marquis Blair, and Philip Dorset. Right off
- 0:57Speaker 1: the top. Both Bruce and Marquise are gonna have to
- 1:00Speaker 1: have surgery, and so that means that they will be
- 1:03Speaker 1: done for the season, and which is really a big blow,
- 1:07Speaker 1: you know, and I know, and a lot of teams
- 1:09Speaker 1: lost players this weekend. You know, we certainly felt it
- 1:12Speaker 1: with both those guys. Both those guys have a lot
- 1:15Speaker 1: to offer your team in their attitude and approach and
- 1:17Speaker 1: style of play, and so it'll be difficult to replace
- 1:20Speaker 1: those guys. Philip doors Set, we're looking to figure out
- 1:23Speaker 1: how to how to work this out. We need to
- 1:25Speaker 1: give him a break to make sure that his foot
- 1:27Speaker 1: is is healed and back. We know he tried to
- 1:28Speaker 1: get back this week to play in this pass game
- 1:31Speaker 1: and couldn't do it. So we have to give him
- 1:34Speaker 1: more time than that, and we have to consider what
- 1:35Speaker 1: we're doing with that. Philip is not part of this
- 1:38Speaker 1: game plan coming up. We're going to rest him for sure.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Both Irvin and Blair have been placed on IR officially.
- 1:43Speaker 1: In the Seahawks have called up cornerback Lyndon Stevens and
- 1:46Speaker 1: defensive tackle Anthony Rush to take their places on the
- 1:48Speaker 1: active roster. Phil door Set has also been placed on IR,
- 1:52Speaker 1: leaving one open roster spot to be filled before Sunday's game. Lastly,
- 1:56Speaker 1: head go to Pete Carroll gave us. The latest on
- 1:58Speaker 1: Rashim Green Rashim is he's still kind of in the
- 2:02Speaker 1: same mode. We haven't turned the corner yet. We'll have
- 2:04Speaker 1: to see as this week goes on if he improves
- 2:06Speaker 1: enough where he'll be able to play this week. He's
- 2:09Speaker 1: not feeling that bad, but he's still got a little
- 2:12Speaker 1: something going on that we got to wait through it
- 2:13Speaker 1: and see if which day it turns, and so we
- 2:16Speaker 1: won't know until later in the week. But he hasn't
- 2:19Speaker 1: been cleared yet for this week, so we'll see what happens,
- 2:22Speaker 1: all right. The Hawks got it done last week and
- 2:25Speaker 1: a thriller beat the Pats. Came down to the one
- 2:27Speaker 1: yard line. LJ. Collier makes a play on Cam Newton
- 2:30Speaker 1: to seal the deal. But now we got to focus
- 2:32Speaker 1: on the Cowboys. Nas Who's next? Who's next? Who's next? Yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Cowboys are coming into town. They're one and one. They
- 2:47Speaker 1: lost to the Rams in week one. They bounced back
- 2:50Speaker 1: and beat the Atlanta Falcons in a thriller. Thriller. Now,
- 2:55Speaker 1: let's throw a funny stat out there. I mean that
- 2:57Speaker 1: Falcons are the first team to lose when they're up
- 3:01Speaker 1: what with three or four turnovers. I don't know the specifics,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but they're the first team to do what they did
- 3:06Speaker 1: out of four hundred and forty tries. And that's never good, right. No,
- 3:09Speaker 1: it was something like scoring thirty nine points in all
- 3:11Speaker 1: those yards and winning to turnover battle and all of
- 3:14Speaker 1: that stuff, and to lose like in that fashion, Man,
- 3:16Speaker 1: that was bone crushing. I feel for those boys down
- 3:19Speaker 1: in Atlanta, man, Phil form in Atlanta. But Dak Prescott
- 3:22Speaker 1: did his thing. Thirty four for forty seven four to
- 3:24Speaker 1: fifty yards, one touchdown, three rushing touchdowns. He is the
- 3:28Speaker 1: first person in NFL history to throw for over four
- 3:32Speaker 1: hundred yards and have three rushing touchdowns. That looks like
- 3:36Speaker 1: a running back who played quarterbacks stating right there, that's
- 3:40Speaker 1: what that's what we saw. To Dak Prescott, Well, he's
- 3:42Speaker 1: putting up the numbers, man, and let me tell you something,
- 3:44Speaker 1: he is campaigning to pay the man. He is a
- 3:48Speaker 1: He is the real deal. Honestly, like you said, four
- 3:50Speaker 1: hundred fifty yards throwing the ball, three rushing touchdowns. Daka
- 3:53Speaker 1: is the real deal, and he just can do it
- 3:54Speaker 1: in every single form or fashion. He's legit, he's tough
- 3:57Speaker 1: to tackle, and it's gonna be It's gonna be a
- 3:59Speaker 1: bear for the Seahawks defense this week. He's tough to tackle,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and I'm watching film and he's standing in the pocket
- 4:04Speaker 1: and taking some hits. I mean, they've had five or
- 4:07Speaker 1: six just really good hits on Dak Prescott last game.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And he's standing in there and he's making plays, and
- 4:13Speaker 1: we can't forget about Ezekiel Elliott. Twenty two carries eighty
- 4:16Speaker 1: nine yards, one touchdown. Not a great game, but a
- 4:20Speaker 1: solid game by Ezekiel Elliott. And just like the Hawks,
- 4:23Speaker 1: I guess the previous Hawks, the Dallas Cowboys set everything
- 4:27Speaker 1: up with the run, especially when you have an old
- 4:28Speaker 1: line like they have and a guy like Elliott in
- 4:31Speaker 1: the backfield. Absolutely, and even it doesn't really matter who's
- 4:33Speaker 1: playing offensive line for the Cowboys. Honestly, they were missing.
- 4:35Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about that in man out, but they're missing.
- 4:37Speaker 1: They're starting left Pro Bowl tackle. But they still find
- 4:40Speaker 1: ways to get it done. They're one of the most
- 4:41Speaker 1: talented groups out there. And Zekei Elliott is just I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 1: speaks for itself. Man. The guy's been doing it since
- 4:46Speaker 1: he was at Ohio State. A very workman's like game.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Twenty two carries eighty nine yards, didn't pop, didn't go crazy,
- 4:52Speaker 1: but still very efficient and helping Dak throw for all
- 4:54Speaker 1: those yards. Did you see his new tattoo? I did it?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Says feed or he was on his stomach? Feed right?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Eat me, man, need it? Did I see the cereal box?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Eat him? That's a lot of pressure. You gotta stay
- 5:07Speaker 1: in shape the rest of your life. You get a
- 5:08Speaker 1: stomach tattoo. I mean, that's that's a bold that's bold
- 5:11Speaker 1: right there. It is a bold decision. Luckily he's in
- 5:14Speaker 1: his twenties, so it's good for now. Hit me back
- 5:16Speaker 1: in twenty years and see it still looks good. It's
- 5:18Speaker 1: twenty years. Win tie your thirty four. Like me, man,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I gotta have to have to put the beer down
- 5:24Speaker 1: and pick up the trulyes. That's my situation asolutely. All right,
- 5:27Speaker 1: here we go, ceedee Lamb. The rookie caught six passes
- 5:31Speaker 1: for one hundred and six yards. I like this kid.
- 5:33Speaker 1: He works the slot. There's a play that he had
- 5:36Speaker 1: against the Atlanta Falcons where he's the bender. It's when
- 5:39Speaker 1: you're in the transformation, you're the number three receiver closest
- 5:42Speaker 1: to the tackle. When you are that number three receiver
- 5:44Speaker 1: and you got verticals, you can bend your route behind
- 5:48Speaker 1: the linebackers. That's what he did. The run after the
- 5:51Speaker 1: catch is awesome. I like this, dude, what do you
- 5:53Speaker 1: see out of him? Well, like you said, he's just
- 5:55Speaker 1: explosive and he's a workhorse man. He was a dog
- 5:57Speaker 1: in college and he's showing. He had a decent day.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think you have like six catches for like fifty
- 6:01Speaker 1: nine yards in week one, but last week he really
- 6:03Speaker 1: showed that he's going to be a part of this
- 6:05Speaker 1: offense moving forward. All right. Now, the story of the
- 6:08Speaker 1: game for the Cowboys was a tale of two halves. Okay,
- 6:11Speaker 1: this is the drive chart in the first half, first possession, punt,
- 6:15Speaker 1: second fumble, third fumble or out on downs, fifth fumble,
- 6:21Speaker 1: and then they got things going in the second half.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Dak Prescott didn't account for any touchdowns in the first half.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Second half, he accounted for four touchdowns. Somehow, some way,
- 6:32Speaker 1: they got this thing going. Is it more of Dallas
- 6:34Speaker 1: being nice or is it more Atlanta Falcons just being
- 6:38Speaker 1: the Atlanta Falcons or the Atlanta fffords is what I
- 6:41Speaker 1: heard sounds during the week. It's it's hard to tell, honestly,
- 6:45Speaker 1: I mean, there's no You're not gonna win football games
- 6:47Speaker 1: for the most part if you start the game punt, fumble, fumble, downs, fumble.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I mean, that is probably one of the worst starts
- 6:53Speaker 1: I've ever seen in an NFL football game. So it's
- 6:56Speaker 1: got to be a little both. I mean, I'm starting
- 6:58Speaker 1: to lean a little bit on the Falcons just what
- 6:59Speaker 1: we've seen in them so far this season. But then again,
- 7:02Speaker 1: as we're talking about, these cowboys are super talented, they
- 7:04Speaker 1: got weapons on offense, and then you flip to the
- 7:06Speaker 1: second half, touchdown, field goal, touchdown, touchdown downs, touchdown, touchdown,
- 7:10Speaker 1: field goal. I mean, that is some good production right there, man,
- 7:16Speaker 1: good production to say the least. Now, they outscore the
- 7:19Speaker 1: Falcons thirty to ten in the second half and recovered
- 7:22Speaker 1: an onside kick like I've never seen it before. They
- 7:24Speaker 1: call it the watermelon kick. You just put the ball
- 7:26Speaker 1: on the ground, you kick it, it starts to spin.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It was almost like the spin had the Atlanta Falcons hypnotized,
- 7:33Speaker 1: they were like, do we jump on the football, Atlanta.
- 7:36Speaker 1: You can touch the ball within the first ten yards.
- 7:39Speaker 1: The kicking team cannot touch the ball within ten yards.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Somebody didn't do their homework. Do you put that on
- 7:44Speaker 1: the special teams coach on the headcast on the players
- 7:47Speaker 1: who takes this blame? That just hurts my head. And
- 7:50Speaker 1: while I think about who's taking the blame, let's hear
- 7:52Speaker 1: what it sounded like down in Atlanta. So it's a
- 7:54Speaker 1: two point game with one forty nine to go. Gotta
- 7:58Speaker 1: be careful this little dribbler down the middle. Now, yeah,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and the ball is recovered by Dallas. The ball spun around,
- 8:07Speaker 1: Atlanta looked at it, it rolled across and Dallas got it.
- 8:13Speaker 1: You're rolling on the fielders of the team league by Dallas.
- 8:16Speaker 1: He found it. How in the world Dave Zakis has
- 8:20Speaker 1: got to dive on the football. Here's the deal, bump.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So initially you always want to just go after the
- 8:25Speaker 1: special team's coach, right, yep. But man, at some point
- 8:29Speaker 1: you're an NFL football player, you gotta make a play
- 8:31Speaker 1: like you know the rules. Because here's the thing, because
- 8:33Speaker 1: you know, all week long, special team coaches, every Special
- 8:36Speaker 1: teams meetings, every single morning, and then come towards the
- 8:39Speaker 1: end of week, come Friday Saturday, they go into situations
- 8:42Speaker 1: they're saying what happens when this happens, especially on the
- 8:45Speaker 1: hands team, right, so you have to know that that
- 8:48Speaker 1: was covered at some point in the week. I think
- 8:50Speaker 1: honestly the front line just kind of brain farted. But
- 8:53Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you're the coaching staff,
- 8:55Speaker 1: so you got to be held accountable. But man, and
- 8:57Speaker 1: even going back into like the high school days, Man,
- 9:00Speaker 1: when I was coaching special teams, telling kids you might
- 9:02Speaker 1: go over something right before the play. If this happens,
- 9:05Speaker 1: you need to do this, and sometimes it doesn't happen,
- 9:07Speaker 1: but man, that just, oh god, that just hurts my heart. Man,
- 9:10Speaker 1: watching that, I feel bad for that special team's coach.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But he's gonna get all that blame. He's gonna get it.
- 9:17Speaker 1: They're gonna say he did not relay that message effectively
- 9:21Speaker 1: to where his players were receptive and took the coaching.
- 9:25Speaker 1: For some reason, they did not take that coaching. I
- 9:27Speaker 1: do not want to believe that they did not go
- 9:29Speaker 1: over that scenario. That is basic stuff. I was a
- 9:32Speaker 1: high school head coach. If that happened, I'm livid. Yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 1: it's it's it looked. It just looked like JV football.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It just looked like a bunch of ninth graders who
- 9:44Speaker 1: aren't really gonna play varsity football, were on the field
- 9:47Speaker 1: and didn't know what the heck they would do. Well.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It kind of reminds me of like in basketball, like
- 9:50Speaker 1: when you start a second half and then teams kind
- 9:53Speaker 1: of forget which way they're going. That's kind of what
- 9:55Speaker 1: it felt like, because the ball was just sitting there,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and it's been one thing if it was boom boom,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but the ball just spun and spun and spun. But
- 10:02Speaker 1: oh my goodness, and it was painful. And then unfortunately
- 10:05Speaker 1: after that, it's set up this game winner. Forty six
- 10:08Speaker 1: for the win, no time out, good snap, good hold,
- 10:12Speaker 1: forty six yards, Yes, sir, kiss that pig. The final
- 10:20Speaker 1: score dabblished forty a lot of thirty nine. Oh, heartbreak hotel,
- 10:26Speaker 1: art break hotel. All Right, we're gonna we're gonna move
- 10:29Speaker 1: on from the Falcons. They're they're they're dealing with enough. Now,
- 10:31Speaker 1: let's talk about the history between the Seattle Seahawks and
- 10:37Speaker 1: the Cowboys. No, your history, so bump. Normally I would
- 10:43Speaker 1: come out here, I'd have a bunch of clips to
- 10:44Speaker 1: fire you up about the last time we played this team,
- 10:47Speaker 1: because hopefully it was a good result. Unfortunately, you and
- 10:51Speaker 1: we were both there in Dallas the last time the
- 10:53Speaker 1: Seahawks played. Unfortunately, the last meeting was a heartbreaking twenty
- 10:57Speaker 1: four to twenty two wild card defeat during the twenty
- 11:00Speaker 1: eighteen season. I was really disappointing because that team went
- 11:04Speaker 1: through so much and we had an amazing time in Dallas.
- 11:07Speaker 1: We were right there, just couldn't quite get it done.
- 11:09Speaker 1: So unfortunately last meeting didn't go so hot. But look
- 11:13Speaker 1: at the series record. Dallas lead to series eleven and nine.
- 11:16Speaker 1: But prior to that, the Seahawks won earlier in twenty
- 11:20Speaker 1: twenty four thirteen here at Central Link Field. So that
- 11:22Speaker 1: was the last time these two teams matched up in Seattle.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And it's gonna be a battle. I mean it was
- 11:27Speaker 1: a battle at the AT and T Stadium when we
- 11:30Speaker 1: went a couple of years ago. It was gonna be
- 11:32Speaker 1: a battle this time. If both teams are playing at
- 11:36Speaker 1: a high level offense, high level offensively right now. Defensively,
- 11:40Speaker 1: there are some things that they need to fix. So
- 11:43Speaker 1: my I'm anticipating a shootout when it comes to Seahawks
- 11:46Speaker 1: versus Dallas. I'm gonna say thirty plus points each team.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But I'll say that prediction for the Sunday. Uh yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: you need all the help predicting scores, you know, man,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I'm so good at it. Something to be desired for you. Bump.
- 12:02Speaker 1: All right, now, let's talk about the NFC West. What's
- 12:04Speaker 1: the word in the West? And the Seahawks were the
- 12:11Speaker 1: NFC West champs? Again, what's the word in the West? Totally?
- 12:18Speaker 1: What's the word in the West? I'll tell you what
- 12:19Speaker 1: the word is. Mass Als two and Cardinals two and o,
- 12:23Speaker 1: Rams two and o and the Niners are at the
- 12:26Speaker 1: bottom of the barrel at one and one. Is this
- 12:29Speaker 1: the type of star you would have predicted for the
- 12:31Speaker 1: nc West? Um? Honestly, I thought the division was gonna
- 12:35Speaker 1: be really good. I did. But this six and o
- 12:38Speaker 1: against the rest of the league. I mean, we talked
- 12:40Speaker 1: about all preseason thinking that this was going to be
- 12:43Speaker 1: one of the best divisions in football. But I think
- 12:45Speaker 1: what made me fully believe that one hundred percent is
- 12:48Speaker 1: the Cardinals. The Cardinals this year are going to be
- 12:52Speaker 1: a problem. Yes, they started two and oh we might
- 12:53Speaker 1: be getting ahead of ourselves. But Kyler merley Man in
- 12:56Speaker 1: his second year, is the real deal. He's really fun
- 12:58Speaker 1: to watch momp It's video game stuff. He just has
- 13:01Speaker 1: another gear. And what's crazy, he's fast. When you see
- 13:04Speaker 1: fast guys, you look at their stride lanes, right, it
- 13:08Speaker 1: seems like he just got those those little stride lanes.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But for some reason he gets the most out of it.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And it's the way he throws the football. It's just
- 13:15Speaker 1: a flick of the wrist. I was talking to Paul
- 13:17Speaker 1: Moyer last week. When you watch Cam throw, everything's into
- 13:21Speaker 1: that throw. His whole body is lower body's upper body.
- 13:24Speaker 1: There's a lot going on. When Kyler Murray throws a football.
- 13:27Speaker 1: It's just a little flick of the wrist. It's a
- 13:29Speaker 1: little baseball motion. That's why he was gonna get paid
- 13:31Speaker 1: what four million to go play for the Athletics back
- 13:35Speaker 1: in the day. But I'm with you, Kylin Murray looks great.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He's got DeAndre Hopkins and the Rams got a nice
- 13:41Speaker 1: little run game going right now. I'm impressed with their
- 13:43Speaker 1: run game. They're not it's not cute. They're not getting
- 13:46Speaker 1: outside the tackles. They're not doing all this fancy stuff.
- 13:49Speaker 1: They're like, look, here's a league, here's a trap, here's
- 13:52Speaker 1: a power. They're getting back to what kind of made
- 13:54Speaker 1: them great. A couple of years ago, establishing the run
- 13:57Speaker 1: game first. Yeah, and honestly the Rams first of all
- 14:01Speaker 1: from a Seahawks standpoint, the Rams have always given our
- 14:03Speaker 1: football team trouble, whether they were the Jeff Fisher Rams,
- 14:07Speaker 1: whoever's coaching, whevers going down there, and they give us problems. Obviously,
- 14:10Speaker 1: Sean McVay is a great head coach. Took him the
- 14:12Speaker 1: Super Bowl two years ago. But yeah, the Rams are
- 14:15Speaker 1: still good and Jared Goff is still throwing the ball
- 14:16Speaker 1: while he threw for two hundred and sixty seven yards
- 14:18Speaker 1: and three tids last week. So they're two and out
- 14:20Speaker 1: and they beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week one? Are
- 14:23Speaker 1: you a golf believer? Now? We've been hard on this man.
- 14:26Speaker 1: We've been hard on him. You believing in him now?
- 14:29Speaker 1: The jury is still out for me. Don't get me wrong.
- 14:32Speaker 1: He's a great athlete. He can throw the pill. It's
- 14:34Speaker 1: just kind of there's just so much I feel that
- 14:37Speaker 1: that's credited to Sean mcvagh just because he's such an
- 14:40Speaker 1: offensive mastermind, and he's in his headset till fifteen seconds
- 14:43Speaker 1: before the play granted Goss stall us to go out
- 14:45Speaker 1: there and make throws. But when those Rams are rolling
- 14:48Speaker 1: it's because of everything else around him. So I mean,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I'm not saying he can't be one of the better
- 14:53Speaker 1: quarterbacks in the NFL. I just still I need to
- 14:55Speaker 1: see more. The jury is still out for me. Jury still?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Um Okay, Now let's talk about these four nine ers. Man.
- 15:00Speaker 1: They're having a tough year. Yes, they beat the Jets
- 15:03Speaker 1: thirty one to thirteen last week. But Bolsa's out what
- 15:06Speaker 1: an Aco? Solomon's out with an Aco, Jimmy g High
- 15:10Speaker 1: ankle sprain, most Art mco George Kila had a sprained
- 15:14Speaker 1: MCL the week before. Richard Sherman has a cab injury.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Demo Samuel has a Jones fractor like all their playmakers
- 15:20Speaker 1: are gone. Do you have any type of sympathy or
- 15:23Speaker 1: the Niners. Are you gonna be a cold hearted Seahawk
- 15:26Speaker 1: fan and show them no love? Well, here's the deal, man.
- 15:29Speaker 1: You never want to see people get hurt, right, I
- 15:32Speaker 1: never will ever root for any professional athlete at any
- 15:35Speaker 1: level or anyone else to get hurt. With that being said,
- 15:39Speaker 1: this is a National Football Week. It is what it is.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Every single team is gonna have to deal with injuries,
- 15:44Speaker 1: and you're gonna have to it just comes, and you're
- 15:46Speaker 1: gonna have to deal with it when it comes. Do
- 15:47Speaker 1: you think the Niners felt bad for the Seahawks when
- 15:49Speaker 1: we lost Chris Carson, when we lost c J. Pro Chice,
- 15:53Speaker 1: when we lost all of our running backs, when we
- 15:55Speaker 1: lost Dwayne Brown, when we lost all these tackles, and
- 15:57Speaker 1: when we went into week sixteen of last Sea. No,
- 16:00Speaker 1: they didn't. Because the NFL, everyone gets paid to play,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and they're gonna strap him up in play. So the Niners,
- 16:05Speaker 1: holy smokes, they got they got some work to do,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and they're gonna have to do some soul searching and
- 16:09Speaker 1: it's gonna come at him quick. So we'll really see
- 16:11Speaker 1: how resilient that bunch is moving forward. So, in a
- 16:14Speaker 1: short answer, no, you have no s it is. It's
- 16:19Speaker 1: the league. I'm sorry, No, I don't. Hey, competition gotta compete,
- 16:23Speaker 1: all right. Next segment is our matchups. We're gonna call
- 16:26Speaker 1: the segment. Man up? Who is this mass? This? Man
- 16:36Speaker 1: up on Hawk Talk? Man up? You want to beat
- 16:40Speaker 1: the Cowboys, you gotta win some matchups. And the first
- 16:44Speaker 1: matchup is Dak Prescott versus the Seahawk defense. Now, if
- 16:47Speaker 1: we're going off, the first couple of weeks. Off of
- 16:50Speaker 1: the defensive performance by the Hawks and the performance by
- 16:53Speaker 1: Dak Prescott, we can go out and say that Dak
- 16:57Speaker 1: is gonna eat, He's gonna get his he's gonna throw
- 16:59Speaker 1: the ball for over three yards. Yeah. I mean he
- 17:01Speaker 1: is what he is, man. I mean we learned from
- 17:03Speaker 1: Dak right when he first got to this football team.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I mean it was it was here in Seattle in
- 17:09Speaker 1: a preseason game in twenty sixteen where Tony Romo got hurt.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Dak is thrown into the starting lineup and he took off.
- 17:15Speaker 1: And he has been that good and that impressive since
- 17:19Speaker 1: he took over. And right now he's playing at an
- 17:21Speaker 1: incredibly high level. I won't say quite is to where
- 17:24Speaker 1: Russell's at so far this year, but Dak is right
- 17:26Speaker 1: behind him, right behind him. He has seven hundred and
- 17:29Speaker 1: sixteen yards through the air so far this year. That
- 17:31Speaker 1: is second in the league. Dad continues to play at
- 17:35Speaker 1: a high level. And there's a reason why he wanted
- 17:38Speaker 1: to hold out. There's a reason why he wanted his
- 17:40Speaker 1: money because he feels like he is an elite quarterback
- 17:43Speaker 1: and so far he has shown that. When I look
- 17:46Speaker 1: at Dak Prescott, the thing that jumps out to me
- 17:49Speaker 1: is his toughness. Now you heard about his offseason, lost
- 17:52Speaker 1: a brother, trying to get paid. There's a lot of
- 17:55Speaker 1: things that could affect his performers on the field. I
- 17:58Speaker 1: see a guy who just shows up every single week.
- 18:00Speaker 1: It makes have happened, and he surrounded with some talent.
- 18:03Speaker 1: What jumps out to you, Well, he's just like you
- 18:06Speaker 1: mentioned everything that he's been through this past year, he's
- 18:08Speaker 1: just a leader. Man. He came out as a leader,
- 18:10Speaker 1: talked about, you know, dealing with some mental health issues
- 18:13Speaker 1: and just being being a leader for everyone across the country.
- 18:16Speaker 1: People need to hear that that's okay. And he's doing
- 18:18Speaker 1: that while dealing and playing the toughest position in sports.
- 18:23Speaker 1: He's playing quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Okay, So I
- 18:26Speaker 1: mean then you see what he does on the field.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He's just a leader, and I think he's taken a
- 18:29Speaker 1: huge step this year and he's definitely someone wanted to
- 18:32Speaker 1: be reckoned with all season for sure. The next matchup,
- 18:35Speaker 1: Russell Wilson versus the Cowboys defense. Russells balling right now.
- 18:39Speaker 1: The cleare MVP leader so far in the NFL. Russell
- 18:44Speaker 1: has an eighty two point five percent completion percentage through
- 18:47Speaker 1: two games, the highest through the first two games of
- 18:50Speaker 1: the NFL season in history minimum for the attempts. This
- 18:55Speaker 1: dude is playing at a level that we haven't really
- 18:58Speaker 1: seen and he's starting to get that recognition and that
- 19:01Speaker 1: love that we've been given to him since day one.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Can this continue, as the question, Well, it's asking a
- 19:09Speaker 1: lot for it to continue at this clip. All right.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Let mean there's other we could talk to. Russell Wilson
- 19:13Speaker 1: stats all day long. He's eight for eight in the
- 19:15Speaker 1: red zone, eighty two r to five touchdowns. Okay, he's
- 19:18Speaker 1: thrown nine touchdowns and according to Pro Football Focus, only
- 19:21Speaker 1: five uncatchable passes balls that he's thrown away. He's leading
- 19:24Speaker 1: the league in touchdown passes. I mean, there's a million
- 19:26Speaker 1: different stats and he has come through in every which way.
- 19:30Speaker 1: And because he has really just taking ownership of this offense,
- 19:34Speaker 1: I expect him to continue to play at this high level.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Maybe less touchdowns, maybe some of those numbers will come down,
- 19:41Speaker 1: but how he's commanding this offense, I don't see that
- 19:43Speaker 1: stopping anytime soon, because he's just too special. I'll put
- 19:46Speaker 1: out a tweet the other day saying that Russell Wilson
- 19:48Speaker 1: is the best quarterback in the league. And you know everyone,
- 19:50Speaker 1: not everyone, but a lot of people, Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes. Well,
- 19:54Speaker 1: Russell's doing some things that Patrick Mahomes hasn't done, at
- 19:57Speaker 1: least not this year. Four touchdowns on passes thrown twenty
- 20:00Speaker 1: plus yards down the field. No other quarterback has more
- 20:04Speaker 1: than two. So I get it, Pat Mahomes baller, but
- 20:09Speaker 1: Russell was just playing at a different level. The Cowboys
- 20:13Speaker 1: gave up thirty nine points last week and only has
- 20:15Speaker 1: two sacks on the season, So that tells me that
- 20:19Speaker 1: that old line should be able to protect and that
- 20:21Speaker 1: this offense should be able to continue what they've been doing.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm excited to see what happens and if DK in
- 20:30Speaker 1: the game can keep this level play up. Oh, I definitely.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to two And as you mentioned, the
- 20:35Speaker 1: Cowboys only have two sacks on the season. Our offensive
- 20:38Speaker 1: line last week's after the really the first quarter against Atlanta,
- 20:41Speaker 1: they've really figured out in jail in terms of protection.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Russell's had some really clean pockets and stuff like that.
- 20:46Speaker 1: So I expect our offensive line to keep Russell upright
- 20:49Speaker 1: and then him to continue to play how he's been
- 20:51Speaker 1: playing last couple of weeks. What's the matchup you're looking
- 20:54Speaker 1: at nas? What else? I mean the next one you get,
- 20:58Speaker 1: you gotta look at Zeke. Man out to look at
- 21:00Speaker 1: Zeke versus our front seven. Now it's obviously going every
- 21:05Speaker 1: week you say you got to stop the run. Every
- 21:07Speaker 1: football team wants to stop the run. So like they're like, oh,
- 21:09Speaker 1: nice job, Nasa, it's a great matchup. You thought really
- 21:12Speaker 1: hard on that one. No, but it is what it is. Man.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It starts with him. So he's had forty four carries
- 21:16Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty five yards or two touchdowns on
- 21:18Speaker 1: the year. Decent in the receiving game nine reception sixty
- 21:21Speaker 1: four yards, one touchdown. What I see from him is
- 21:24Speaker 1: he is still incredibly physical. Okay, the last game that
- 21:28Speaker 1: we lost down there, there's times where we couldn't get
- 21:30Speaker 1: him down. He's just someone he's like a catalyst for them.
- 21:33Speaker 1: And if he gets going early on, it's gonna be
- 21:35Speaker 1: really hard to stop that offense because once he gets going,
- 21:38Speaker 1: now you gotta you're getting caught up in play action
- 21:40Speaker 1: and dad, because it's gonna throw the ball over the yards.
- 21:41Speaker 1: So it's got to start there. From our front seven.
- 21:44Speaker 1: He stopping Zeke has to start in the front seven.
- 21:46Speaker 1: And the Seahawks have been grad against the round the
- 21:48Speaker 1: ranking number two in the NFL, allowing just sixty nine
- 21:51Speaker 1: yards per game. So if they can keep that up,
- 21:54Speaker 1: that's gonna be awesome. But let's remember Todd Gurley doesn't
- 21:58Speaker 1: seem like the Todd girl of the oldest who played
- 22:00Speaker 1: last week, or give me the first week and then
- 22:02Speaker 1: second week, you pretty much played a quarterback who runs
- 22:05Speaker 1: a football and Cam Newton. You still James White didn't
- 22:08Speaker 1: play because of his unfortune situations. You still got birdcap
- 22:11Speaker 1: at New England. So they've proven they can stop the run,
- 22:14Speaker 1: but haven't been tested the way that they are going
- 22:16Speaker 1: to be tested this week. Okay, the next matchup Seahawks
- 22:19Speaker 1: DNS versus Cowboys backup tackles. Now you mentioned it earlier.
- 22:24Speaker 1: The Cowboys lost their left tackle and you expect LJ
- 22:29Speaker 1: and Vince Mayowa to really test this guy. LJ might
- 22:34Speaker 1: be turning a corner that play he made last week
- 22:36Speaker 1: against the New England Patriots and Cam Newton to seal
- 22:39Speaker 1: the game. I feel like it's going to catapult him
- 22:41Speaker 1: to another place, or at least I hope it does.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Do the Hawks need these d ns to do more
- 22:49Speaker 1: than what they've been doing for them to have success
- 22:51Speaker 1: on Sunday? Well, yeah, honestly, I think they do, and
- 22:54Speaker 1: I think you mentioned it. I really hope that this
- 22:56Speaker 1: is springboard for LJ. Because unfortunately losing Bruce Irvin for
- 22:59Speaker 1: the season with an ACL in a position group that
- 23:02Speaker 1: was already kind of finned, those guys need to step up.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And it's got to be a guy committee it So
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's Bens and Mayoa, it's LJ. Collier, it's Rashim Green right,
- 23:10Speaker 1: and then it's closed into the interior. You know, it's
- 23:12Speaker 1: Puna Ford, it's Jay Reid, dem Entrey Moore. So all
- 23:15Speaker 1: those guys got to step up as a collective unit.
- 23:17Speaker 1: And for me, when they have an opportunity to get
- 23:19Speaker 1: guys down, they have to finish right. You know, Cam Newton,
- 23:22Speaker 1: we didn't sack him in all last for Jamal got
- 23:24Speaker 1: him one time from behind, but there are several times
- 23:27Speaker 1: where we had him dead to right, so we couldn't
- 23:29Speaker 1: quite wrap up. So those guys really, when they have
- 23:30Speaker 1: an opportunity, they have to finish only three sacks with
- 23:34Speaker 1: his defense right now, two coming from the safety position. Okay,
- 23:38Speaker 1: I love that Jamal Adams is active, but you said it,
- 23:42Speaker 1: Bens Mayola needs to get after them. LJ J. Reid Poonam.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I just want to hear different names in the sack
- 23:48Speaker 1: column other than Jamal. Jamal, keep doing your thing, get
- 23:51Speaker 1: them sacks. Do what you do. But for this defense
- 23:54Speaker 1: to take another step, that defensive line needs to step
- 23:57Speaker 1: up it. Why not be this week? Why not go
- 24:00Speaker 1: after a backup tackle? Why not send some pressure? If
- 24:03Speaker 1: the hawsing get through this game and start three and oh,
- 24:06Speaker 1: it's looking like they can be five and oh before
- 24:09Speaker 1: the bye week, so I'm looking forward to that. All right,
- 24:12Speaker 1: How are they gonna get this win done? Here is
- 24:14Speaker 1: the path to victory. One. You cannot let Dak Presscott
- 24:18Speaker 1: throw for four hundred yards. It's almost like, actually, but
- 24:21Speaker 1: we want Dak to throw for four hundred You know
- 24:23Speaker 1: why the Danny O'Neil stacked because whenever a quarterback those
- 24:27Speaker 1: four hundred yards, the Hawks are nine and o under
- 24:30Speaker 1: Pete Carroll. So I say, you know what, plays off
- 24:32Speaker 1: coverage led back through the rock? Right, That's what That's
- 24:34Speaker 1: what data says, So we should be cool. That's what
- 24:37Speaker 1: data says man, But come on, that stack cannot go
- 24:41Speaker 1: on forever. It's one of those things too, are like
- 24:43Speaker 1: you can say that, but I'm sure if you go
- 24:45Speaker 1: to Ken Norton's junior right now and be like, are
- 24:46Speaker 1: you okay with this, He's gonna say no. So I
- 24:48Speaker 1: think they gotta and I think we started to see
- 24:50Speaker 1: a little bit of it. We know Shaquille has played
- 24:53Speaker 1: is played well this season, and Quentin Dunbar as the
- 24:55Speaker 1: game went on last week, started playing a lot better.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Got an interception. So I hope we can tighten some
- 24:59Speaker 1: of the stuff up and it will definitely help if
- 25:01Speaker 1: we get some pressure up front. Another thing they have
- 25:03Speaker 1: to do. You have to bring that down. Not easier
- 25:06Speaker 1: said than done. He's a big boy, not as big
- 25:08Speaker 1: as Cam, but he's not small at all. And he's mobile.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Not as mobile as Cam, but he's mobile. He actually
- 25:15Speaker 1: he might be more mobile. Who do you think he's
- 25:17Speaker 1: more mobile right now? Daker Cam today? I mean I
- 25:20Speaker 1: would typically just say Cam. Maybe I might just be
- 25:22Speaker 1: biased just thinking of all the games I've watched Cam,
- 25:25Speaker 1: whether it was in college or at Carolina. But Dack's
- 25:27Speaker 1: right up there too. I mean, he's not looking to run.
- 25:29Speaker 1: But if he has to, he's gonna be out there
- 25:31Speaker 1: and go, and he's gonna be a he's allowed to
- 25:33Speaker 1: bring down for sure. Yep. Gotta wrap that dude up. Also,
- 25:37Speaker 1: Ezekiel Elliott can't get going early right the Hawks a
- 25:40Speaker 1: number two against the run right now, allowing sixty nine yards.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I don't think you can contain Zeke to only sixty
- 25:49Speaker 1: nine yards. If you do, kudos, that's awesome. But I
- 25:52Speaker 1: think if he had around eighty nine yards like last week,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I think that's containing him. But it's not allowing him
- 25:59Speaker 1: to have the big play early in game momentum, absolutely,
- 26:02Speaker 1: and I think I think that's the one that's probably
- 26:04Speaker 1: one of the biggest things this defense needs to fix
- 26:06Speaker 1: moving forward, is not allowing explosive plays. The last two
- 26:10Speaker 1: weeks really uncharacteristic of Pete Carroll coach defenses to give
- 26:14Speaker 1: up explosive plays, whether it's running in the past, and
- 26:16Speaker 1: it starts with Zeke. So you can't let him get
- 26:18Speaker 1: going early. He can't pop one for thirty or forty.
- 26:20Speaker 1: You gotta keep him contain. Anything under a hundred is
- 26:23Speaker 1: good for me. Anything under one hundred you have to
- 26:25Speaker 1: You talk about explosive plays. I can name two right
- 26:29Speaker 1: now from last week. Stevie Lamb had to play for
- 26:31Speaker 1: about fifty something yards. Amari Cooper had to play on
- 26:34Speaker 1: a rollout for about forty something yards. You have to
- 26:37Speaker 1: eliminate him. But what all the weapons that these dudes have,
- 26:39Speaker 1: somebody's gonna pop, right, It's impossible to think that Lamb's
- 26:43Speaker 1: not gonna do anything. Michael Gallup, we haven't really mentored Schultz,
- 26:46Speaker 1: who scored the only receiving touchdown last year. These guys
- 26:49Speaker 1: have weapons. So if you had to, what's what's the
- 26:52Speaker 1: max amount of explosive plays you think these guys can allow? Three? Four?
- 26:57Speaker 1: What do you think? I mean, Coachbeak, you'd say zero,
- 27:02Speaker 1: But no, you're right. It's it's gonna happen at some
- 27:04Speaker 1: points how you bounce back. But honestly, I think it's
- 27:06Speaker 1: got to be under six. It's gotta be under six,
- 27:08Speaker 1: and hopefully those are passes about fifteen yards and not
- 27:11Speaker 1: long runs. But either way, if if you're round six,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I think you're in good chape to win the ball game.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And the most important key when it comes to their
- 27:19Speaker 1: path to victory is letting Russell do his thing. This
- 27:22Speaker 1: guy's playing out a high level. Pete Carrol says, he's
- 27:25Speaker 1: throwing the ball with conviction. Shotty is up in the
- 27:28Speaker 1: booth now, so now he can see the whole field.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And I think that's huge in the development of this
- 27:35Speaker 1: offense because we spoke to Ray in the Hawk Talk
- 27:39Speaker 1: recap and he talked about Russell Wilson really having the
- 27:42Speaker 1: keys to the car now. A big indicator of that
- 27:45Speaker 1: is Shoddy being upstairs and not feeling like he's got
- 27:48Speaker 1: to be in Russell's ear right now. He's got to
- 27:50Speaker 1: have his hands on everything. When you start to kind
- 27:52Speaker 1: of ease back a bit and delegate, that lets you
- 27:55Speaker 1: know that you're in a good place. And obviously they're
- 27:58Speaker 1: in a good place because Russell's playing at an extremely
- 28:00Speaker 1: high level. Yeah, shot He's gonna keep doing shotting because honestly,
- 28:03Speaker 1: he doesn't get enough credit. A lot of people like
- 28:05Speaker 1: to go after offensive coordinators because that's low hanging fruit,
- 28:08Speaker 1: but there's not a dang thing he can go after
- 28:09Speaker 1: Shoddy or this offense for through two games a season.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So Brian shaw Naimber keep calling great games and it's
- 28:14Speaker 1: gonna be good for the Seahawks. On Sunday, Shotty, keep
- 28:18Speaker 1: doing what you're doing. Defense data said you can give
- 28:21Speaker 1: up four hundred yards passing. NAS doesn't like that, though,
- 28:24Speaker 1: so let's let's pump the brakes on that rap Dak
- 28:28Speaker 1: Prescott up. Don't allow Zeke to have explosive plays, not
- 28:32Speaker 1: too many at least early, and do what you can
- 28:34Speaker 1: on the outside. Attack that offensive line, especially especially the
- 28:38Speaker 1: left tackle. Spy. It looks like we got the formula. Man,
- 28:41Speaker 1: we should have send them our scout and reporting by
- 28:43Speaker 1: looks the Hawks. These are the things you need to
- 28:45Speaker 1: do to win. On Sunday, me and NAS gotta figure
- 28:47Speaker 1: it out. We gotta figure it out. Let's get it done.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Bum all right, there it is Hot Talk Preview edition,
- 28:54Speaker 1: Week three. The Cowboys are coming to the Northwest. We
- 28:57Speaker 1: appreciate you guys for listening. Hey, take notes. We got
- 29:01Speaker 1: the past victory. Hope these Hawks pay attention. We'll highlight
- 29:04Speaker 1: you'all next time. Have a good one.
