- 0:00Speaker 1: For some prison is where it ends. For all, court
- 0:05Speaker 1: is where it begins.
- 0:07Speaker 2: This is a no TV show.
- 0:10Speaker 3: This is the real world.
- 0:12Speaker 1: And this is what's happening at the courthouse. On KFM
- 0:17Speaker 1: Mornings with Roomies.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Look it us out there in a good word REMI yes, okay,
- 0:24Speaker 4: bracing all the elements and asking people that are coming
- 0:30Speaker 4: in out of coming in and going in and coming
- 0:33Speaker 4: out of court, one simple question.
- 0:35Speaker 1: What are you doing at the court house today.
- 0:37Speaker 2: As a complainant involving minor child contraventions of court orders?
- 0:46Speaker 2: It is my minor child. It involves his father that
- 0:51Speaker 2: is not observing parental plans that were made high court orders.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So what what happened to break that.
- 0:57Speaker 2: He is not observing? Contact in holiday I now attended
- 1:03Speaker 2: an eighth year ring. The court is supposed to act
- 1:07Speaker 2: urgently in matters involving minor children's. Yeah, that is what
- 1:12Speaker 2: the Children's Act in fact stipulates, But in reality it
- 1:16Speaker 2: isn't happening in our South African court.
- 1:19Speaker 1: What is the delay though?
- 1:20Speaker 2: Males are being allowed to get away where things that
- 1:24Speaker 2: other people are not allowed to get away.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Okay, so we're getting into this now.
- 1:29Speaker 2: This particular person has connections he's got status, he's got money,
- 1:34Speaker 2: he's got influence, and like I said, this matter involves
- 1:38Speaker 2: a child that has been unlawfully relocated basically at the
- 1:42Speaker 2: factor abduction, and the child is being held in isolation
- 1:47Speaker 2: in a small little place. The child should have immediately
- 1:51Speaker 2: been returned to the status quo which escaped on where
- 1:54Speaker 2: he lived. And this process is simply dragging out because
- 2:00Speaker 2: of the accused is asking for further reps to be
- 2:04Speaker 2: made to the DPP. The MPa is also acting very slowly.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I'm very frustrated. That's why I'm now returning to court
- 2:12Speaker 2: to speak to the prosecutor once again. He was allowed
- 2:17Speaker 2: three months to present representation to the DPP's office when
- 2:22Speaker 2: in fact, on the twentieth of May the seventhier and
- 2:25Speaker 2: he was supposed to make his final representation and it
- 2:28Speaker 2: was never done.
- 2:29Speaker 1: This is obviously your child and his child. The child
- 2:33Speaker 1: is living with.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Him also under dubious circumstance. The Family Advocates Office did
- 2:41Speaker 2: not properly execute their function and duty towards me and
- 2:45Speaker 2: the child, and the child should never have ended up
- 2:48Speaker 2: with the father when he was in fact in my
- 2:50Speaker 2: primary care for twelve years. So that is another issue.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We have major problems with how the Office of the
- 2:57Speaker 2: Family Advocate is functioning. We are basically on the verge
- 3:01Speaker 2: of approaching Parliament to see if we can somehow get
- 3:06Speaker 2: assistant in attention. But yeah, the parental animation is a
- 3:11Speaker 2: go to. As soon as a mother tries to protect
- 3:15Speaker 2: the child, these fathers revert to the excuse or the
- 3:19Speaker 2: attack that the mother is trying to alienate a child
- 3:22Speaker 2: from the father, and the history of domestic violence is
- 3:25Speaker 2: not considered. So yeah, but I am continuing to fight
- 3:30Speaker 2: this fight and I won't stop.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Thank you very much for your time. I appreciate it.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Hopefully you get your child back or some sort of
- 3:39Speaker 1: like visiting rights.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I do have those rights, but even they are being
- 3:43Speaker 2: infringed and not being honored.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Thank you very much for your time. Man, by bye.
- 3:49Speaker 1: What are you doing at the court house today?
- 3:51Speaker 5: Appearing for a case death shoplifting?
- 3:53Speaker 1: I suppose you shoplifted something.
- 3:56Speaker 5: No, that's why you come to courtough right, tell me
- 3:59Speaker 5: this what happened. I went into hart to get a
- 4:03Speaker 5: red Bull and a packet of Mike and Ikes, got
- 4:06Speaker 5: to the till ladies swiped my red bull, the Mike
- 4:09Speaker 5: and Ikes Mike and X turned out to be I
- 4:11Speaker 5: don't know exactly how much they were actually because they
- 4:12Speaker 5: keep saying it sixty six rand ninety nine cents, so
- 4:17Speaker 5: obviously the bigger box. Yeah, I said no, thanks, paid
- 4:21Speaker 5: for my red bull. I was holding a book in
- 4:24Speaker 5: my hand with something else in the store. And then
- 4:26Speaker 5: when I got to the security guard, the chap was like, hey,
- 4:29Speaker 5: you forgot to pay for something. It turned out that
- 4:32Speaker 5: they were Mike and Ikes in my hand.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You obviously realized this is too expensive, and yeah, sorry,
- 4:38Speaker 1: it's there.
- 4:39Speaker 5: I should have mentioned there are two of them, two boxes.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Of my Oh okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 5: So the one is in my hand with my book
- 4:46Speaker 5: and my cell phone and my pack of cigarettes. I
- 4:49Speaker 5: put down the one pack I don't want that, and
- 4:52Speaker 5: then I walk out, but the second pack Phil is
- 4:56Speaker 5: in my hand with my book and my phone and
- 4:58Speaker 5: my cigarettes. The gar it's like, hey, you didn't pay
- 5:02Speaker 5: for something. I look around, Ah, you're right, I didn't.
- 5:07Speaker 5: You know what, Let's go back to the toll and
- 5:09Speaker 5: I'll pay it. At that point it was like, well, no,
- 5:12Speaker 5: you're trying to steal it, blah blah blah, and now
- 5:15Speaker 5: and now I'm here you're kidding me right now.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yep, the security guard calls the police. That's exactly what
- 5:24Speaker 1: he did. Yeah, you obviously it was by accident that
- 5:26Speaker 1: you that you keep the other box? Well, yeah, at
- 5:30Speaker 1: your book.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I know it was an accident.
- 5:34Speaker 5: They thought it was deliberate and that's that's why we're here.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Now, all just because of a box of mics and ikes.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Do you have a criminal liquid I don't have a
- 5:48Speaker 1: criminal record. Now this feels like a waste of the
- 5:51Speaker 1: courts time.
- 5:52Speaker 5: To be fair, I think if you're asking me, I'm
- 5:55Speaker 5: saying I would say yeah, but I am also on
- 5:58Speaker 5: the other side of the isle.
- 5:59Speaker 1: On one it was a mistake. Sorry, move on.
- 6:03Speaker 5: That's what the arresting officer was saying as well, can
- 6:06Speaker 5: we just pay for this thing?
- 6:08Speaker 1: And they were still not willing to budge. Nope. Do
- 6:11Speaker 1: you think they were just like targeting you? Maybe?
- 6:14Speaker 5: I have no reason to believe so.
- 6:16Speaker 4: No.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Do you regularly go to that shop?
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Can this even be jail time?
- 6:22Speaker 5: I'm confident to do to be jail time. They've got
- 6:25Speaker 5: this thing called a divergent program.
- 6:27Speaker 1: That's that's what your lawyer is advocating for. That's correct, sir, Yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 1: hopefully it is that and you don't end up in
- 6:36Speaker 1: pose more for mikes and ikes.
- 6:39Speaker 4: I think I might be the mic and ike and
- 6:41Speaker 4: pause a moment.
- 6:42Speaker 1: It seems like, thank you very much for your time.
- 6:47Speaker 6: That's hard.
- 6:49Speaker 4: That's that seems you know what I'd luck to know
- 6:54Speaker 4: what the law is. I mean, I've been to two
- 6:58Speaker 4: shops and they checked the toll slop, Like at a
- 7:02Speaker 4: certain hardware store, You're going to open your bag and
- 7:06Speaker 4: they can't and there's twelve items in the sun you're
- 7:10Speaker 4: slipped here. That's to check that you're not diffing anything
- 7:13Speaker 4: that's not for any warranties, you know, and say I
- 7:19Speaker 4: had something that didn't match the ittem counts, and then
- 7:24Speaker 4: they want to arrest me like this guy. And I'm
- 7:25Speaker 4: assuming because I've seen a supermarkets too where they do this,
- 7:30Speaker 4: but they stop you before you actually leave the store
- 7:35Speaker 4: on that threshold, the door threshold. So if I haven't
- 7:38Speaker 4: technically left the store yet, the assumption is that I
- 7:43Speaker 4: was on my way out, but I technically haven't left
- 7:45Speaker 4: the store. Is it still shoplifting?
- 7:50Speaker 5: Saying what you're arguing, technically no crime has.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Been Yes, I haven't even stepped out into the thing.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I'm still in the shop.
- 8:00Speaker 7: Because every store kind of has a different layout and
- 8:03Speaker 7: the way of handling things as well and security set up.
- 8:07Speaker 7: I've been annoyed when I've paid for something and they
- 8:10Speaker 7: leave the security tag on the item, and then I'm
- 8:13Speaker 7: embarrassed at the door.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And then on my petty days.
- 8:17Speaker 7: I'm like, you know, for pain and suffering, I wish
- 8:20Speaker 7: I could punish the shop.
- 8:21Speaker 4: You're not being efficient because you know, you walk out
- 8:24Speaker 4: and he goes, oh no, and then you go.
- 8:27Speaker 7: Marriage can you please step aside here? And then we
- 8:30Speaker 7: do the rummaging of the bag.
- 8:32Speaker 4: You raise your hands and you put them up by
- 8:35Speaker 4: your sides and.
- 8:35Speaker 5: You it's always the most awkward little dance.
- 8:39Speaker 4: But the importance is that when that long goes off,
- 8:41Speaker 4: the security is watching him. You've got to stop immediately
- 8:44Speaker 4: and turn back if you run. That being said, I
- 8:51Speaker 4: have seen videos where people go change in the change
- 8:54Speaker 4: and the twelve items of clothing.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you see them. You've committing to crime now.
- 9:01Speaker 4: But it's it's it's interesting that I don't know, I'm
- 9:03Speaker 4: sure that you're just gonna throw that out pack of
- 9:06Speaker 4: Marc and ice.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Let's hope.
- 9:07Speaker 4: So the principle of theft. Yeah, sure, but.
- 9:12Speaker 7: Do you look at each case for what it is
- 9:14Speaker 7: or now you want to be like I want to
- 9:15Speaker 7: make an example out of the.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Sky, even the arresting officers.
- 9:19Speaker 7: Can't we just settle this year the.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Court's time with nonsense.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Maybe there's a lot of shoplifting in that store as well. Yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 4: but it seems very petty. Oh kiddoks, that was what's
- 9:31Speaker 4: happening at the courthouse for me is good job, sir,
- 9:34Speaker 4: thank you very much. It's Stacy Urica. There's got to
- 9:37Speaker 4: be more to life here. On OKFO Mornings, Karen says,
- 9:43Speaker 4: just on that shoplifting thing, I once got a security tag.
- 9:47Speaker 4: She was going in and out of like in a mall,
- 9:50Speaker 4: in and out. Every shop was bleeping. It be big alarm,
- 9:53Speaker 4: alarm along along and then she realized that somehow she's
- 9:57Speaker 4: got a magnetic strip stuck in her hair.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Oh no, wait, what are the chances shave man?
- 10:05Speaker 7: Oh the thing is so loud, that's so.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Everyone stares at you.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Yeah, many asking what are Marke and ikes. Marke and
- 10:13Speaker 4: X are like little jelly beans sweets from America, so delicious.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I imported jelly beans.
- 10:19Speaker 1: That's what kind of expensive?
- 10:21Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, we got your messages here on the WhatsApp telephone.
- 10:25Speaker 1: That first case is a bit skitchy. It sounds a
- 10:28Speaker 1: little bit off to me, like, I'm sorry very about
- 10:32Speaker 1: that lady story. Something's something's fishy. That first lady is lying,
- 10:38Speaker 1: she's not telling me.
- 10:40Speaker 8: And the second guy Mike to Night sixty six ninety nine.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Since I felt like I wasn't in good a forth today,
- 10:46Speaker 2: I felt like I was in an international quote.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Yo, the same thing has happened to me.
- 10:51Speaker 8: Not put a newspaper under my arm a couple of
- 10:54Speaker 8: years ago, and standing at the toll and putting everything
- 10:57Speaker 8: else down. You know, your ends up full, and you
- 10:59Speaker 8: put the new s paper under your arm. You and
- 11:01Speaker 8: to keep the newspaper protected. There's a good couple of
- 11:03Speaker 8: years ago, and you pay everything else, and as you
- 11:06Speaker 8: walk away, you realize, Flip.
- 11:07Speaker 6: I didn't pay for the newspaper, so you could so
- 11:10Speaker 6: easily be arrested for attempting to steal a two and
- 11:14Speaker 6: fifty newspaper, when in fact it was just an oversight.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Were some security guards take the jobs to see this?
- 11:23Speaker 5: Now?
- 11:24Speaker 3: What happens when you walk out of a store paid
- 11:27Speaker 3: for your stuff and they forget to put some item
- 11:31Speaker 3: in your carrier bag. Should we not make a case
- 11:35Speaker 3: against them for that too?
- 11:37Speaker 5: What did he have in his hand?
- 11:38Speaker 2: An old box of Mike's Nikes.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Was Michael Jordan's he was carrying around.
- 11:47Speaker 7: Yeah, but that thing of like forgetting a newspaper under
- 11:50Speaker 7: the arm, or like the potatoes at the bottom of
- 11:52Speaker 7: the trolley.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I mean, there's so many examples of it's suck.
- 11:56Speaker 7: A small thing where you could just walk on the
- 11:59Speaker 7: human without pay.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Do you know what we had a lot of with
- 12:04Speaker 4: our kids when they you're pushing them in the pram
- 12:09Speaker 4: and they reaching out on the shelf and putting some
- 12:11Speaker 4: in it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Don't see them reaching and getting a thing.
- 12:13Speaker 4: And I tell my kids, you're going to Juli arrest
- 12:17Speaker 4: the kid, not me. I didn't touch it. But I
- 12:20Speaker 4: know what that guy means with the newspaper because I
- 12:22Speaker 4: used to buy a newspaper. You know, you go buy
- 12:24Speaker 4: the bread and mog and you don't want the molk
- 12:27Speaker 4: to wet the newspaper, so you put it on your own.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I know what he's talking about. Yeah, it's petty, but
- 12:33Speaker 4: I would like to know the law on when they
- 12:37Speaker 4: stop you. They stop you inside the store just before
- 12:40Speaker 4: you Technically I haven't shoplifted. Were you ready to litigated?
- 12:48Speaker 1: The lawyer had coming there.
- 12:50Speaker 4: I shall be your public defender. Simmo's on the case.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Who's the dude from suits with no law degree?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Mike? Mike?
- 12:59Speaker 4: Actually, yeah, idea, Michael, that's it. I'm your guy. Let's go.
