- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm Casemat from from Kasim and Kism. You can find
- 0:05Speaker 1: vol veins and the guitar Kevin Sync and the guitar,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Fim Broker on bass, Greg Turini on drums and the
- 0:14Speaker 1: band starting in twenty eighteen with almost completely different lineup
- 0:21Speaker 1: because the band was with four members with another guitar player,
- 0:30Speaker 1: no bass in another singer and I joined the band
- 0:37Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen when they decide to change the lead
- 0:42Speaker 1: singer and we were like this till twenty twenty four,
- 0:51Speaker 1: twenty twenty three with the X guitar player and then
- 0:56Speaker 1: we uh he decided to quit the band and we
- 1:03Speaker 1: we wanted to to just to have a new guitar
- 1:06Speaker 1: player and it was maybe the good time to to
- 1:11Speaker 1: to reboot the the bands correctly introducing a real bass player,
- 1:17Speaker 1: because because before we had just backing tracks with with
- 1:22Speaker 1: bass on stage. It's just because it was it was
- 1:30Speaker 1: very complicated to find a bass player available to to
- 1:35Speaker 1: to find time a lot of time to to travel
- 1:38Speaker 1: to make some tours, and in Switzerland it is a
- 1:44Speaker 1: little bit more complicated to find people. Uh people ready
- 1:49Speaker 1: to to to do to have this this type of life.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But we found it and uh so now we're five
- 1:58Speaker 1: and we were list our new last album live for
- 2:02Speaker 1: sale on Sitsumerland nineteen and you were talking about acoustic album, right, Yeah,
- 2:11Speaker 1: this album was made during the lockdown twenty twenty. I
- 2:18Speaker 1: think you remember very well that period. And the first
- 2:24Speaker 1: idea was just to play stick into my scheme on
- 2:30Speaker 1: an acoustic version. Who wanted just to do a video,
- 2:35Speaker 1: just kind of unplugged the video just for that song.
- 2:40Speaker 1: But when we released the video, many people was asking
- 2:44Speaker 1: for all the songs and and we were like, oh sorry,
- 2:48Speaker 1: now we wanted just to do for this song because
- 2:53Speaker 1: we have only this song can very sounds good an
- 2:56Speaker 1: acoustic And after many many, many, many many requests, we
- 3:03Speaker 1: decided to go to the studio and when it was
- 3:06Speaker 1: a lockdown, so we had a lot of time. So
- 3:10Speaker 1: we worked a lot on to choose some some songs,
- 3:16Speaker 1: trying to figure out how to how to to do
- 3:20Speaker 1: an acoustic version. That's it, and we made sagaing Skin
- 3:24Speaker 1: It was, it was, It wasn't. It was a big
- 3:29Speaker 1: surprise for us to do than that album that that
- 3:33Speaker 1: wasn't in our in our plan, but went well.
- 3:36Speaker 2: We did it nice, very nice.
- 3:39Speaker 3: So Chaos and recently released the new album Life the
- 3:42Speaker 3: Style back on September nine eight.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Did you say, how's the earlier respose been for it.
- 3:49Speaker 1: This album? Well, this album have a completely different story,
- 3:55Speaker 1: uh more than the previous the previous album, because on
- 4:00Speaker 1: this one I had to to to compose it completely
- 4:04Speaker 1: alone because in the previous album we were two composers, uh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and it was the the extel player and I And
- 4:15Speaker 1: when he quit the band, we had to find new members.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And the new members, Kevin and Finn, was so yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 1: so new in this band and they had to to
- 4:27Speaker 1: learn every every songs from the previous album. And it
- 4:32Speaker 1: was a huge work because yeah, we had to do
- 4:36Speaker 1: very quickly, some tours, many many gigs, and they don't
- 4:42Speaker 1: have the time to to be to be a two
- 4:48Speaker 1: hundred percent implicated from the from the composition. So I
- 4:52Speaker 1: decided to do to do it, to do it alone.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And and it's different because U I grew up in
- 5:02Speaker 1: a new new metal era from nineties and early two thousand,
- 5:09Speaker 1: so you can hear on this album is a little
- 5:11Speaker 1: bit more simple in some way, but that's a that's
- 5:17Speaker 1: what I like and simple lyrics. It is different too
- 5:22Speaker 1: because in the previous album, I was mixing, uh, part
- 5:26Speaker 1: of part of true story, mixing with something from imagination
- 5:31Speaker 1: just for something more epic on this one. No, it's this.
- 5:37Speaker 1: This one is a is more more real, more more
- 5:44Speaker 1: How do how do you say that? Yeah? Sorry?
- 5:50Speaker 2: More more personal?
- 5:51Speaker 1: Maybe completely personal, definitely. And so that means that it
- 5:58Speaker 1: was hard for me to write that because I'm talking
- 6:01Speaker 1: a lot of my past and I have many episodes
- 6:05Speaker 1: on on my past that I that it was very
- 6:09Speaker 1: complicated to live and and and some and for some
- 6:15Speaker 1: things it's still a little bit complicated, but uh, I
- 6:20Speaker 1: deal with it. But yeah, it took time for me
- 6:27Speaker 1: to to write that lyrics because I had to be
- 6:31Speaker 1: very sure to show myself real in this one. But
- 6:38Speaker 1: it was a good time because it is in my
- 6:43Speaker 1: past and that's something that I that I I wanna
- 6:49Speaker 1: that I don't want to keep it anymore. So this
- 6:53Speaker 1: life this and I was like, okay, now, uh, I'm
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm ready to to live to live that behind this
- 7:02Speaker 1: life is for sale.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, very good. That makes sense.
- 7:08Speaker 1: And yeah, and that's how this new baby born cool. Well.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I spoke to you last time when you released The
- 7:16Speaker 3: Third Eye, and you said that that album was a
- 7:18Speaker 3: little darker and more mystic than your previous releases. Did
- 7:22Speaker 3: you carry that through to Life for Sale?
- 7:28Speaker 1: It's not so dark for me from our perspective, is
- 7:31Speaker 1: not so dark then as through that this one is
- 7:36Speaker 1: more it's just more personal. But Nuts dark. Yeah, of
- 7:41Speaker 1: course the themes are not happy, but but in the
- 7:47Speaker 1: sounds it is not for me. It's that sounds so
- 7:50Speaker 1: so dark. And the different things is I put a
- 7:57Speaker 1: lot of industrial always the electra sounds. I had to.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I had to learn to learn how to do that
- 8:09Speaker 1: because I never did that before. So I had to
- 8:12Speaker 1: learn to do that. Maybe in the next album, for
- 8:15Speaker 1: the fifth album, I will do more. Maybe I'll be
- 8:19Speaker 1: like a DJ on this one. No, we'll see.
- 8:25Speaker 3: You've released the singles Freaking Ahead by A Life for Stale,
- 8:29Speaker 3: So if that's all that somebody has heard of the album,
- 8:32Speaker 3: are those three songs of good representation of the whole album?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Nuts one hundred percent? Yeah, there's a good reposition. But
- 8:42Speaker 1: you if you hear songs like Ain't Human, Ain't Human?
- 8:47Speaker 1: I put a lot more synth wave vibes in the chorus,
- 8:54Speaker 1: So yeah, I think if you if you want to
- 8:57Speaker 1: have a good idea from the album. You have to
- 9:01Speaker 1: you have to hear the completely the album because we
- 9:07Speaker 1: did a new version of Smile Again and orchestral version
- 9:11Speaker 1: and that's absolutely nuts. The electro noisy or things like this,
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's very you can find you can you can hear
- 9:19Speaker 1: that maybe more in a movie and now in a
- 9:21Speaker 1: middle uh metal album and and thing songs like two
- 9:29Speaker 1: Minutes only that's more my my kind of homage of
- 9:34Speaker 1: from for death Tones because I grew up with the
- 9:37Speaker 1: music and I'm like, I'm still a huge fan Deaf Tones.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And yeah, and they they released a new album a
- 9:46Speaker 1: few weeks ago. I was like a like a teenager,
- 9:48Speaker 1: Oh my god, so that that was a home made
- 9:54Speaker 1: for for them. I had and and and you know what,
- 9:58Speaker 1: that's that's a fun story because before the people know
- 10:02Speaker 1: that our bands, my secret dream was to sing like
- 10:08Speaker 1: China Moreno from Death UNEs. And I was so sad
- 10:12Speaker 1: when so when many people was telling me, oh no,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you sing like g d Well, okay, it's a great singer.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Of course I love Corn, but that wasn't.
- 10:27Speaker 3: You mentioned the orchestra version of Smile Again, Like it's
- 10:31Speaker 3: a beautiful piece of music, But what what made you
- 10:34Speaker 3: decide to strip it back and do it.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Orchestraly because for so many reasons. Because when when the
- 10:46Speaker 1: EXTA player left the band, it was at the same
- 10:51Speaker 1: time in a very very awful period because on this
- 10:58Speaker 1: period personally I had some problem with depression. I had
- 11:04Speaker 1: I had to deal very hardly hardly with it, uh
- 11:09Speaker 1: in the bands. So the band had some problem with
- 11:14Speaker 1: with with with the health. Everything is okay today.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Don't worry.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And and we did. And and it was a composer,
- 11:27Speaker 1: so the attL player was a composer, so it was
- 11:30Speaker 1: we were a little bit afraid what happened for the
- 11:33Speaker 1: bands if the music changed. And I never and I
- 11:37Speaker 1: never composed anything alone. So yeah, I was nervous. I
- 11:41Speaker 1: was Okay, I have to deal with my with my anxiety,
- 11:45Speaker 1: with my social anxiety, but I have to do this
- 11:49Speaker 1: job alone, okay. And we found the new member and
- 12:01Speaker 1: I found, uh the inspiration. I decide to Okay, you're depressive,
- 12:08Speaker 1: just accept it now, try to try to do try
- 12:13Speaker 1: to try to use it like your strength strengths, and yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and do something with it. And and yeah, it was
- 12:24Speaker 1: just a completely restarts for a completely reload for for
- 12:29Speaker 1: the band. And and it was a good thing to
- 12:33Speaker 1: to to take the song that made this band more
- 12:38Speaker 1: a little bit more famous, to reborn again with a
- 12:41Speaker 1: new version, with something, yeah, with something more more personal, sounding,
- 12:49Speaker 1: more more personal. And I'm a I'm a huge fan
- 12:53Speaker 1: of movies, and I wanted something more emotional. So I
- 12:59Speaker 1: will first well, I was thinking about an acoustic version
- 13:03Speaker 1: of Smile again, just an acoustic one, just all the
- 13:06Speaker 1: r vocals, piano or vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar. And I
- 13:13Speaker 1: started to to reimagine the version, working working on the
- 13:19Speaker 1: on my cello. We're working on the piano, and I
- 13:22Speaker 1: put cello, a second cello, a third cello for a cello,
- 13:27Speaker 1: six cello. Okay, now, uh bass more bass, Okay, well
- 13:33Speaker 1: maybe some some brass other and uh and uh and
- 13:40Speaker 1: it was okay, okay, no no, no MTV nineties unplugged.
- 13:48Speaker 1: It will be more haunt seamer version.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And uh yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And then and for me, this song, in this version,
- 13:58Speaker 1: it means more for for the restart of the band,
- 14:02Speaker 1: of the band is reborn.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yep.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Nice And you mentioned mentioned the fact that you like
- 14:08Speaker 3: cinema and cinematics right your your music, it's if any
- 14:11Speaker 3: listen to it, it's got lots of different layers, and
- 14:14Speaker 3: they're all filled with emotions and atmospherics and a bit
- 14:18Speaker 3: of cinema sort of stuff like and how difficult is
- 14:20Speaker 3: it to put all of those elements into a song?
- 14:28Speaker 1: Is it? This is how I build a song. I
- 14:33Speaker 1: always imagine I have my own movie in my head
- 14:40Speaker 1: when I when I'm thinking about it, I'm just hearing
- 14:45Speaker 1: always still inside my head the song, what kind of sounds?
- 14:50Speaker 1: What comes? Song can be on this image? This? And
- 14:54Speaker 1: uh so that's mean I just closed my eyes I
- 14:59Speaker 1: for this. I put my my life as a as
- 15:01Speaker 1: a movie watching this life. If I was in a
- 15:04Speaker 1: theater and I just started to imagine a song on it,
- 15:09Speaker 1: how how could imagine if if it was just on
- 15:13Speaker 1: a screen and it wasn't a theater watching that movie,
- 15:16Speaker 1: how I can just feel more the emotion of the
- 15:19Speaker 1: moments with the music, with the music. And this is
- 15:22Speaker 1: how I build the songs. Uh started with instrumental just
- 15:27Speaker 1: it was just guitar riff first and and then okay,
- 15:33Speaker 1: now the bass, what kind of rhythm? What kind of rhythm?
- 15:37Speaker 1: And I built all the instrumental and then I I
- 15:41Speaker 1: I read the I wrote the lyrics first, I composed
- 15:45Speaker 1: the melody of the voice. Uh, and and then the lyrics. Wow.
- 15:51Speaker 3: That sounds like a lot of work, but it's it's
- 15:53Speaker 3: worth it because you can hear you can you can
- 15:55Speaker 3: hear the different layers in the music.
- 15:57Speaker 2: It's it's fantastic.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, some people think I'm crazy.
- 16:04Speaker 3: If that's crazy, want to be crazy too. I'm not
- 16:10Speaker 3: sure if you remember, but last time and I spoke
- 16:12Speaker 3: to you, you said to me, obviously we will get
- 16:15Speaker 3: to Australia someday. I just don't know when that was
- 16:18Speaker 3: three years ago. Do you know when you know when?
- 16:21Speaker 1: No? No, I remember, yeah, do you know when you're coming? Now? Yeah,
- 16:28Speaker 1: we still don't know. Worry, we still think about it.
- 16:30Speaker 1: The only thing is just we we we're waiting on
- 16:35Speaker 1: the opportunity, okay, because many people you need me and
- 16:41Speaker 1: many people ask us when when we go to Australia,
- 16:46Speaker 1: But and of course it's the the world still on
- 16:54Speaker 1: an our plan plans, but yeah, for now is just
- 16:58Speaker 1: to find the the the opportunity if we we go
- 17:02Speaker 1: there to as a headliners or or or on who
- 17:10Speaker 1: say that the first part of the a huge liner
- 17:16Speaker 1: opening opening for a huge aligner. We don't know that
- 17:20Speaker 1: now because we're independent. So my job is to to
- 17:28Speaker 1: work on the visual of the of the bands and
- 17:30Speaker 1: the and the songs, and the rest of the bands
- 17:33Speaker 1: do the arrangements on the songs and they they have
- 17:37Speaker 1: their their their own job inside the band, very very
- 17:43Speaker 1: very important work. If they don't do that work, I
- 17:48Speaker 1: couldn't be here talking to you. So so yeah, that's
- 17:55Speaker 1: just more slow for for fine, for friends of the
- 18:00Speaker 1: the opportunity and how to to find good deals for
- 18:04Speaker 1: to go there. But of course we will. We will
- 18:06Speaker 1: go to Australia. I wanted because I have I have
- 18:09Speaker 1: some some part of my family in Australia, so I
- 18:12Speaker 1: want to go there for sure,
