- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: On today's episode, we are discussing Christmas at the Catnip Cafe,
- 0:33Speaker 2: which originally aired on the Hallmark Channel Sunday, November thirtieth,
- 0:37Speaker 2: and is currently available to stream on Hallmark Plus. Hey friends,
- 0:42Speaker 2: welcome to any new listeners of the podcast. Keep up
- 0:44Speaker 2: with us throughout the year, not just during the holidays.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Don't go away when December is over. We're still making
- 0:52Speaker 2: content all year long, and you can find out what
- 0:54Speaker 2: we're doing over on Instagram where we are Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Hallmark. They didn't actually announce it, but
- 1:02Speaker 1: some other Hallmark accounts recently announced the January movies.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It's hidden on Hallmark's website. The information is there. They
- 1:09Speaker 2: just haven't made a big, bold statement, correct.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But we'll be reviewing the January movies, yeah, we will.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Everything else is kind of TBD.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, remains to be seen what else is happening in January,
- 1:20Speaker 2: but there will be plenty to come here on Girls
- 1:23Speaker 2: Gone Hallmark I have an.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Announcement to make. What is that.
- 1:29Speaker 2: This episode drops before our mailback episode?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh okay, never mind, Yeah, I'm gonna do it. I'm
- 1:36Speaker 1: gonna do it. I'm gonna need your help because I'm like, oh,
- 1:40Speaker 1: my last hanging by a thread.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Well, listen to tomorrow's mail back episode to figure out
- 1:46Speaker 2: what the heck when he's gonna do?
- 1:48Speaker 1: What are we gonna do? You heard it here first, folks,
- 1:51Speaker 1: I had forgotten that this is coming out before that,
- 1:53Speaker 1: So that's okay, okay, anyway.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Why don't we talk about Christmas at the Catnip Cafe
- 1:58Speaker 2: and start with us up.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Olivia Pearce, a marketing executive, discovers her late Great aunts
- 2:06Speaker 1: Kat Cafe in New York, which she believes will be
- 2:10Speaker 1: a Christmas miracle. She helps plan fundraising events, gaining appreciation
- 2:15Speaker 1: for the feline inhabitants who in the chat, Gpute is writing,
- 2:20Speaker 1: are you I'm for real? I know I sound like
- 2:25Speaker 1: an idiot reading these sometimes because I don't read them
- 2:28Speaker 1: before I actually read them, and I and the thought process.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Can you see the brain? Like? Can you see the
- 2:35Speaker 1: wheels turning in my brain as I'm reading it? I'm
- 2:37Speaker 1: like this doesn't make any This doesn't make any sense.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So lately I have noticed that on Hallmark's websites that
- 2:43Speaker 1: about the movie synopsis is very unlimited to on where
- 2:55Speaker 1: is that even coming from our website? But I don't
- 3:00Speaker 1: have any idea why off the rails over here at
- 3:04Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark? I am the ben Affleck meme right now, guys,
- 3:10Speaker 1: get me a cigarette. Okay, deep breath, let's unpack here.
- 3:15Speaker 1: First of all, I have no idea why my computer
- 3:18Speaker 1: just started playing that audio like that that wouldn't even
- 3:20Speaker 1: touch anything nothing. I don't know why I did that.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Do you think what's happening is Hallmark's synopsis is very long.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Whoever's pushing it to IMDb needs it to be shorter,
- 3:29Speaker 2: doesn't want to do the work, runs it through chat, GPT,
- 3:32Speaker 2: copies and paste because they have no idea what the
- 3:34Speaker 2: movies about themselves? Yes, and then we get this word
- 3:38Speaker 2: salad dribble. Yes, that's exactly what I think is happening.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So y'all know if you watch the movie, Olivia's aunt dies,
- 3:47Speaker 2: she is trying to buy a home, needs a bigger
- 3:51Speaker 2: down payment.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Then the Catnip Cafe falls into her lap. As this
- 3:55Speaker 1: financial windfall, potentially potential. She wants to go and sell it,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and then we have our movie. So all this bit
- 4:06Speaker 1: about she helps plan fundraising events and gaining appreciate, I
- 4:09Speaker 1: mean that stuff happens too, but that is not the
- 4:11Speaker 1: synopsis of our movie. Correct, somebody please hire me at Homewark.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I would be happy to write your synopsis for you.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Christmas at the Catnip Cafe was directed by a Lucy guest.
- 4:23Speaker 2: This marks Lucy's twentieth directing credit. Her other work includes
- 4:26Speaker 2: An Alpine Holiday, Providence Falls, The Santa Clas Jingle Bell Run,
- 4:30Speaker 2: and Sealed.
- 4:31Speaker 1: With a List. You know what was funny when I
- 4:33Speaker 1: was writing these notes yesterday. I know, we had just
- 4:36Speaker 1: recently talked about Lucy when we reviewed An Alpine Holiday.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I was looking back through her IMDb Sealed with a
- 4:43Speaker 1: list was a great movie. You're like, we love that,
- 4:45Speaker 1: we love that movie. Every movie she does is so good.
- 4:49Speaker 1: She doesn't miss, she does not miss. She was also
- 4:52Speaker 1: in Holidays. She is an actor, yes, but I think
- 4:56Speaker 1: she's transitioning definitely directing more. Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah, When you look at a list like that, doesn't
- 5:03Speaker 2: it make you think like, oh, those movies are made
- 5:06Speaker 2: better because of their directing style.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Are those movies made better because they're made by a woman?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well? Sure, But also I think what I have noticed
- 5:17Speaker 2: when I start to look back, when I look at
- 5:19Speaker 2: these IMDb lists of these directors and writers. But I
- 5:24Speaker 2: think directors really interpret what's on the page. I think
- 5:28Speaker 2: the hot take the directors really make a difference in
- 5:30Speaker 2: the final product of the movie.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I think so too, it matters. I think so too.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of Lucy Guest. Also, the writing
- 5:38Speaker 1: credit goes to both Tracy Andrene and Alena Valdez. This
- 5:42Speaker 1: marks the second writing credit for Elena Valdez. Her previous
- 5:45Speaker 1: writing credit is for the twenty twenty one Hallmark movie
- 5:48Speaker 1: A Very Bridesmaid One. We've never watched a very Mery Bridesmaid, sorry,
- 5:53Speaker 1: a very Mary Bridesmaid, which is like I saw the
- 5:55Speaker 1: movie poster yesterday when I was putting these notes together.
- 5:57Speaker 2: It has like the the Osmet girl. You know what
- 6:00Speaker 2: I'm talking about, Haley's sister. It might be Haley, Haley's
- 6:04Speaker 2: the boy. Haley's the boyfriend Hailey Joel. He's from Jerry Maguire.
- 6:09Speaker 2: The human headweighs eight pounds.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I think that's where my hate of children and movies
- 6:15Speaker 1: might have a couple of Jerry McGuire is one of
- 6:17Speaker 1: my favorite movies of all time. I don't know if
- 6:18Speaker 1: you knew that or not. I didn't know that a
- 6:21Speaker 1: romantic movie.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Can you believe that? It's because it leans heavy the
- 6:26Speaker 2: moneys and comedy?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah? Wait, I need to watch up?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Is it?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Hailey Joel Osmond? Who's in that movie? He's He's in
- 6:35Speaker 1: the sixth Sense?
- 6:36Speaker 2: Isn't He's not the same?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Whoa? That is not the same? People?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Haley Joel Osmond has a beard, He's a full man.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Google it right now on your computer.
- 6:48Speaker 2: We're sitting with each other, but we can't see each
- 6:49Speaker 2: other screens. Hold on, I'm looking to see what else
- 6:52Speaker 2: he's in. He's one hundred and thirty three acting credit.
- 6:55Speaker 1: It came out like thirty years ago. I hope he
- 6:57Speaker 1: is an Okay, Hailey Joel Osmond play little Forest? This
- 7:05Speaker 1: is not the not the guy that was it? Oh?
- 7:07Speaker 1: It's not.
- 7:08Speaker 2: And then he was in the sixth Sense in nineteen
- 7:12Speaker 2: ninety nine and twenty six years ago, and then quite
- 7:16Speaker 2: a few things since then.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Who's in Jerry McGuire? Sorry, Haley Joel Emily Osmond. Yeah,
- 7:24Speaker 1: that's that's not who's in Jerry mcgway. I know, but
- 7:27Speaker 1: that's who's in A very Merry Bridesmaid. Yes, Jonathan Lipniki, Yes, character,
- 7:33Speaker 1: and he is now thirty five years old. Christmas Tree
- 7:36Speaker 1: light's just flashed on and off. That's weird. I'm gonna
- 7:38Speaker 1: plug him. This is a ghost. It's turned the you
- 7:41Speaker 1: have a ghost. It turned the volume on on my
- 7:44Speaker 1: computer and now just search your lights off. Yes, I
- 7:50Speaker 1: feel like this is a Patreon episode. I know. Do
- 7:54Speaker 1: the listeners know my Ireland ghost Story? I don't think so,
- 7:56Speaker 1: because that was an episode on Long Story Short when
- 8:00Speaker 1: we kicked off our podcast originally in twenty twenty.
- 8:03Speaker 2: You know, if you ask nicely, I'll tell it again.
- 8:05Speaker 2: We are only two credits deep on News and Notes.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Why don't you finish up the writers?
- 8:09Speaker 1: Tracy Andrine has been working overtime this holiday season. This
- 8:13Speaker 1: marks her third movie in the twenty twenty five Countdown
- 8:16Speaker 1: to Christmas lineup. Her other two were A Grand Old
- 8:19Speaker 1: Opry Christmas Chef's Kiss and A Keller Christmas Vacation, also
- 8:23Speaker 1: well liked. She has a total of thirty nine writing credits.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Aaron Cahill stars as Olivia, and this marks her one
- 8:30Speaker 2: hundred and thirty seventh acting credit. For twenty twenty five,
- 8:33Speaker 2: Aaron starred in A Journey to You as well as
- 8:36Speaker 2: had an appearance in A Grand ol Opry Christmas. She
- 8:39Speaker 2: also played Nora Jacobs in the limited series Holidays.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Paul Campbell stars as Ben Kine. This is Paul's second
- 8:46Speaker 1: movie this holiday season. He was not in A Grand
- 8:48Speaker 1: ol Opry Christmas, but he was in Three Wisest Men
- 8:53Speaker 1: a few weeks ago, and this one marks his fifty
- 8:56Speaker 1: ninth acting credit.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Francis Flanagan plays Esther. This movie marks the seven any
- 9:00Speaker 2: first acting credit for Francis. She's appeared in tons of
- 9:02Speaker 2: Hallmark movies like A Reason for the Season, A Maple
- 9:05Speaker 2: Valley Christmas, and The twenty seven Hour Day What Else too?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Because when I wrote her name down, I was like,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and her.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Face is so familiar, familiar. I look back through her IMDb,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I was like, where is it at? Where's the one
- 9:19Speaker 1: movie that I'm like, that's where I know? It didn't
- 9:21Speaker 1: take a box for you, just has one of those faces.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Maybe yep Ian Collins plays frank Ian has forty four
- 9:29Speaker 1: acting credits and appeared Last and Signed, Sealed Delivered, A
- 9:33Speaker 1: Tale of Three Letters and Family Practice Mysteries Coming Home.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Megan Young plays Meredith. She has eighteen acting credits and
- 9:40Speaker 2: appeared as Rachel in all three of the Kissing Booth movies.
- 9:44Speaker 2: This is her first Hallmark movie. You seen the Kissing
- 9:46Speaker 2: Booth movies? The first one, I've never seen the second two.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I don't think I have either. I liked the first one.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I thought it was cute. I like that. Joey King,
- 9:53Speaker 1: sister of Hunter King. Yeah. Jess Brown plays Victoria. Jess
- 9:56Speaker 1: has twenty six acting credits and has appeared in other
- 9:59Speaker 1: Hallmark movies like An Unexpected Valentine and Santa Tell Me.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Darren Dolanski plays Walter. He has fifty four acting credits,
- 10:06Speaker 2: with appearances in Chesapeake Shores and Christmas Waltz.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Kimberly says that makes a surprise cameo as Merrily White,
- 10:14Speaker 1: her character from the Nine Lives of Christmas movies.
- 10:18Speaker 2: An original song called Timeless Christmas, performed by Wes Brown
- 10:21Speaker 2: and Jenna Clair Mason, appears in this movie, as well
- 10:23Speaker 2: as Brad Paisley's Santa Claus Is come into Town. Do
- 10:26Speaker 2: you think they just sprinkled Brad Paisley's music in some
- 10:30Speaker 2: of these movies, kind of like last year how Brett
- 10:32Speaker 2: Eldridge was all over the holiday movies.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I don't remember that he was in Jingle Bell Run
- 10:37Speaker 1: and a few others. This movie was not based on
- 10:41Speaker 1: a novel by the same name.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Let's take a quick break and we'll come right back
- 10:44Speaker 2: with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first
- 10:54Speaker 2: impression of Christmas at the Catnap Cafe. It's not so
- 10:57Speaker 2: much a first impression, but a thought. There's a certain
- 11:01Speaker 2: glow happening with Paul Campbell this season, and I'm not
- 11:04Speaker 2: exactly sure what it is, but something is translating on screen.
- 11:09Speaker 2: This reminds me of we recently watched the episode of
- 11:11Speaker 2: Gilmore Girls where Zach is asking Lane for some more
- 11:16Speaker 2: wink winkers nudge.
- 11:20Speaker 1: That's all. That's all I had to say about that.
- 11:22Speaker 2: My first impression is who was in charge of casting
- 11:24Speaker 2: the felines?
- 11:25Speaker 1: Those cats were a ten.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Out of ten.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Oh, you're such a cat girl. Who could not love
- 11:31Speaker 1: those cats? I mean, I thought the cats were cute, Sure, bread,
- 11:35Speaker 1: I thought the cats were cute, which you know, I'm
- 11:38Speaker 1: a former Hallmark hater. Maybe I'm a former cat hater too.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Were you at one point in your life a cat hater?
- 11:44Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I just prefer dogs. Yeah yeah, But if I had
- 11:48Speaker 1: a cat that was super into me, I could be
- 11:51Speaker 1: down with that. I just don't want to take a
- 11:54Speaker 1: risk and get a cat who's like I hate you,
- 11:56Speaker 1: Wendy and then is just living free in my home.
- 12:00Speaker 1: What did you like about it?
- 12:02Speaker 2: Well, you talked about Paul Campbell having a glow about him.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I really like this role for Paul Campbell. I thought
- 12:10Speaker 2: he was nurturing and loving and came across as very
- 12:14Speaker 2: natural on screen. To me, it was giving wedding every
- 12:17Speaker 2: weekend Paul Campbell, and overall this may be one of
- 12:22Speaker 2: my favorite roles of his.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Oh interesting.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I know he's usually the funny guy, but when he
- 12:27Speaker 2: gets vulnerable it works for me. And I think that
- 12:30Speaker 2: might be because I don't always love the sarcasm as
- 12:33Speaker 2: a defense mechanism that I think is his typical Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent. I was afraid he was going
- 12:40Speaker 1: to lean too hard into the I'm annoyed and irritated
- 12:45Speaker 1: with you, Olivia. That guy m but he I mean,
- 12:50Speaker 1: there's moments of that, but overall, like watching him soften
- 12:56Speaker 1: was a pleasurable viewing experience for me because I was
- 13:00Speaker 1: expecting him to be this sort of like yeah and
- 13:02Speaker 1: rauch irritation are earned, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Because she's kind of behaving in an irritating way, even
- 13:11Speaker 2: if you agree with her decision making, which I don't,
- 13:13Speaker 2: and we'll talk about it. But he runs this cat
- 13:16Speaker 2: cafe which he's passionate about, and she wants to close it,
- 13:19Speaker 2: and there's.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Nothing he can do about it.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Apparently seems like if it wants to be sold, he's
- 13:24Speaker 2: got to go along with it. So I understand his irritation,
- 13:28Speaker 2: can I tell you?
- 13:29Speaker 1: I was really surprised and laughed out loud at their
- 13:33Speaker 1: like meet cute where she sees him through the window
- 13:37Speaker 1: and like they make eye contact them that she turns
- 13:39Speaker 1: and runs right into that tree. This is just such
- 13:41Speaker 1: a windy move. It was great. I laughed.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I thought it was so funny. I thought it was great.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I thought that was so great, you know. I thought
- 13:50Speaker 2: Paul was warm and sweet. There were some other real
- 13:54Speaker 2: sweet moments in this movie. I really liked the flashback
- 13:57Speaker 2: memory scenes with Olivia and her aunt sa yeah, I
- 14:00Speaker 2: thought they did a nice job bringing that story alive.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Since aunt Esther only exists in memories in this movie,
- 14:06Speaker 2: it does help us understand her role in this story,
- 14:10Speaker 2: the connection that Olivia had with her, and experiencing those
- 14:13Speaker 2: memories along with Olivia helps us.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Understand her trajectory. Yeah, yeah, exactly, because if we can
- 14:20Speaker 1: talk about Olivia for a second, her character is kind
- 14:25Speaker 1: of unlikable. Yeah, I get it. She's motivated to sell
- 14:29Speaker 1: the cafe, like this is something that just falls in
- 14:31Speaker 1: her lap. She has no need for it, she has
- 14:34Speaker 1: need for money. Understand all that as a character. But
- 14:40Speaker 1: then on the flip side, you have Aaron Cahill who's
- 14:42Speaker 1: like so just warm, Yeah, and she threads the needle
- 14:49Speaker 1: nicely of being like, this is what I'm here to do,
- 14:52Speaker 1: but I'm also a nice person, like I'm totally not
- 14:54Speaker 1: a villain here. Well, yeah, that's a good point. I agree.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I don't think she is a a villain and I
- 15:01Speaker 2: think she's a good human. But Aaron kal so good
- 15:07Speaker 2: And in that breakup scene I'm putting that in air
- 15:09Speaker 2: quote yeah, where he's like you should probably just go.
- 15:13Speaker 2: The look on her face she doesn't sail a whole lot.
- 15:15Speaker 2: She goes, oh, and then she processes it, you see
- 15:19Speaker 2: it visually, and then she says, you know, you're probably right.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It's so good. Yeah, she's great. She's so great. This
- 15:26Speaker 1: character reminded me a little bit of her character in
- 15:29Speaker 1: automat Apple Hill. Like that character not totally likable either,
- 15:32Speaker 1: did some like not so cool shit to her guest.
- 15:37Speaker 1: In the end, she owned, but like, it's hard not
- 15:42Speaker 1: to root for her just because I like Aaron Gahill.
- 15:46Speaker 1: So anyway, what else did you like?
- 15:48Speaker 2: Oh?
- 15:48Speaker 1: My gosh, so many things. I thought.
- 15:50Speaker 2: The additional foster Son storyline with Joshi and Molly when
- 15:53Speaker 2: he finally calls her mom thought was real sweet, real softy.
- 15:56Speaker 2: It's Christmas time, Joshi gets a mom. The cat gets
- 15:59Speaker 2: adopted too. I think Jess Brown as Victoria and Meghan
- 16:02Speaker 2: Young as Meredith are ones to watch for me.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I enjoyed both of their characters.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I spy future Hallmark leading lady potential in both of them.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Jess Brennan, who else?
- 16:12Speaker 2: Me?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Meghan Young? Yeah? I was kind of surprised that Megan
- 16:15Speaker 1: Young did not have as many acting credits when I
- 16:18Speaker 1: saw like Kissing Booth one two and three, and not
- 16:21Speaker 1: a whole lot else. I was like, Oh, look, how
- 16:24Speaker 1: cute this girl is on Hallmark.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Cute A few more things. I enjoyed the Kimberly systadad cameo.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I thought it was nice. And when she's like, I
- 16:30Speaker 2: have one at home, Fireman Annagatt, it's cute. Nine lives,
- 16:33Speaker 2: nine kitts of Christmas fans get that little moment they're
- 16:36Speaker 2: still together.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I feel like that's like a cult favorite. So yes,
- 16:39Speaker 1: of course it would work here in this cat movie too.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So you mentioned two songs in the News and Notes
- 16:44Speaker 1: that are in this movie. But the music in this
- 16:47Speaker 1: movie is really good. There's some additional songs that I
- 16:50Speaker 1: was shazaming. There's one by Forrest Black, another by Bob Bradley.
- 16:54Speaker 1: So much that I looked up the music supervisor of
- 16:56Speaker 1: this movie because I was so impressed, and it's a
- 16:59Speaker 1: woman named Biggins. She has worked on over four hundred
- 17:02Speaker 1: and fifty projects.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Wow. I thought it was nice to have all of
- 17:07Speaker 2: this music, like actual songs, not just instrumental. When you
- 17:11Speaker 2: have this storyline of a character who's into music and
- 17:13Speaker 2: has all these records.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a nice tie in.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I thought it was a particularly heartbreaking scene. I talked
- 17:19Speaker 2: about the breakup, but from Ben's perspective, he finally puts
- 17:22Speaker 2: himself first. This whole movie we have like he's putting
- 17:24Speaker 2: everybody first. He's willing to take Christmas cookies as payment
- 17:27Speaker 2: for the vet he's taken on all this extra work,
- 17:30Speaker 2: he needs, all this help. He finally puts himself first.
- 17:32Speaker 2: He asks Olivia to stay. I thought it was really
- 17:36Speaker 2: heartbreaking when she was like, no, no, I have to go.
- 17:40Speaker 2: But then her response is really good walking away from
- 17:43Speaker 2: my life.
- 17:43Speaker 1: That's not a small thing to ask. Thank you for
- 17:46Speaker 1: saying that. Yeah, doesn't get said enough. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I like the idea that all these people just hang
- 17:51Speaker 2: out in the cat cafe like this is their central perk.
- 17:55Speaker 1: They all show up for all these events. Is there
- 17:57Speaker 1: a cat cafe here and we're going to be is?
- 18:00Speaker 1: I've never been?
- 18:01Speaker 2: I want to go, but I also wonder like it
- 18:02Speaker 2: makes me a little nervous, Like a place that serves
- 18:04Speaker 2: like food and drink, where you got cat for everywhere?
- 18:07Speaker 1: How hard is that to manage? This is a good question.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Are they just roaming and they think so? Does it
- 18:13Speaker 1: smell like a litter box?
- 18:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I want to go to the cat cafe. My daughter
- 18:18Speaker 1: would go crazy. You'd end up, well, you can't have
- 18:21Speaker 1: a cat. I would have a hard time walking away,
- 18:23Speaker 1: right because are those cats adoptable like they are in
- 18:27Speaker 1: this movie? That's my understanding. Yeah, that would be really hard.
- 18:31Speaker 1: That would be really hard to leave and be like
- 18:32Speaker 1: bye cats that don't have a home. Look, I know
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'm not like you're number one cat gal, but for me,
- 18:41Speaker 1: like I did think that the cats were really cute
- 18:45Speaker 1: and chaotic and endurable and scene stealing. As a director,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I imagine that was probably really hard to work with
- 18:54Speaker 1: these animals, don't you think so? Because I know, like,
- 18:57Speaker 1: of course, are these are these cats? What is that
- 19:01Speaker 1: call where they're like acting cats? Do you know what
- 19:05Speaker 1: I'm talking about? Like is there a name like a
- 19:08Speaker 1: trained cat where you have like a trained dog on set?
- 19:11Speaker 2: There was an animal wrangler credited in this movie.
- 19:13Speaker 1: There was, I would imagine, so, but like, you know,
- 19:17Speaker 1: good job so Lucy guests or like having these not
- 19:22Speaker 1: they're just there organically. I felt like hmm. Also my
- 19:26Speaker 1: last final like is and you kind of mentioned it
- 19:29Speaker 1: about like oh these people just hanging out this cat
- 19:31Speaker 1: It was very cozy. Yeah, like it was. It had
- 19:34Speaker 1: a nice like energy, like I can imagine myself like
- 19:38Speaker 1: hanging out there.
- 19:39Speaker 2: I would love if there was a cafe on my
- 19:41Speaker 2: walk home from work at the end of the day,
- 19:43Speaker 2: stop and have a drink and then there's a cat's
- 19:46Speaker 2: gonna pop up on my lap and I can pet
- 19:47Speaker 2: a cat. It would just change your mood what it is?
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well, let's talk wishes. I have but one
- 19:55Speaker 1: same and it is I wish that Aaron as Olivia
- 20:03Speaker 1: could have a long stretch of the movie is I
- 20:07Speaker 1: don't care about this cafe? Yes, And I wish maybe
- 20:10Speaker 1: she would have come around just like a touch sooner.
- 20:14Speaker 2: It seems implausible that she wouldn't have realized why the
- 20:17Speaker 2: cat cafe came to be.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah. My wish is really more about I did not
- 20:24Speaker 2: care about her quest for a condo wasn't something I
- 20:27Speaker 2: was bought into. There's no it's low stakes for the viewer, right,
- 20:31Speaker 2: You're like, Okay, it's nice, goals are great. I'm proud
- 20:35Speaker 2: of you that you've saved this money and that you
- 20:37Speaker 2: are now able to buy this condo if you get
- 20:40Speaker 2: this windfall. But I didn't really care. I wasn't like
- 20:45Speaker 2: got to get that condo.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Do you think if it was something different, like she
- 20:48Speaker 1: was trying to save her marketing business or whatever, it
- 20:51Speaker 1: is that higher stakes? Yeah, but then we fall into like, uh,
- 20:55Speaker 1: it's a Hallmark trope of like trying to save her
- 20:57Speaker 1: business and now she's gotta choose between that business and
- 21:00Speaker 1: now the cat cafe business. Oh no, but that's my
- 21:03Speaker 1: only wish. Well, let's talk.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Did you see that I have a few one of
- 21:08Speaker 2: them I know you have to have and it really
- 21:11Speaker 2: pertains to you. Oh yeah, I think we have the
- 21:13Speaker 2: same one.
- 21:14Speaker 1: The listeners at home are not going to know this one.
- 21:17Speaker 2: The name of your dog, Yes, yes, Ben's. There's actually
- 21:21Speaker 2: two that pertain to be in this. Ben's childhood dog
- 21:25Speaker 2: was named George Bailey. My dog Bailey is named for
- 21:27Speaker 2: George Bailey. Yeah, you Wonderful Life.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know you knew that.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's who my little Bailey is named for. And
- 21:33Speaker 2: I actually don't like that movie, but I do like
- 21:35Speaker 2: my dog. Yeah, Okay, what was the other? At the
- 21:38Speaker 2: pajama party, someone was wearing my pink gingerbread pajamas that
- 21:41Speaker 2: I wore on the Homewark Christmas Cruise and are still
- 21:43Speaker 2: in my Christmas pajama drawer from Old Navy.
- 21:45Speaker 1: From Old Navy. Yay, Yeah, I wonder how they got
- 21:49Speaker 1: their hands on some out of seasoned pajamas.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Honestly, that's a good question. Could it be that they said, hey,
- 21:58Speaker 2: background actors come in Christmas, but you Ammas.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Or could it be that a person who costume directs
- 22:04Speaker 2: for a Hallmark movie is like, I'm definitely gonna need
- 22:06Speaker 2: some Christmas pajamas in the future, and they got that
- 22:08Speaker 2: in their bag.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Maybe let us know how that worked. Maybe. When did
- 22:14Speaker 1: you see that? It was just a scene that I
- 22:17Speaker 1: thought was so funny, And it's when Ben and Olivia
- 22:21Speaker 1: are meeting at the cafe and Frank, the barista, comes
- 22:25Speaker 1: up with their drinks and he's like, girl, please it
- 22:27Speaker 1: like walk that way. He gives Ben his drink and
- 22:31Speaker 1: takes Olivia's. It's so good. I laughed. I thought that
- 22:36Speaker 1: was so funny.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Another funny scene in the first scene, we get in
- 22:40Speaker 2: the vet that the the waiting room is crowded and
- 22:43Speaker 2: someone's sitting holding a fish bowl with a goldfish in
- 22:46Speaker 2: an other do not notice.
- 22:48Speaker 1: That brings their goldfish funny great. Another did you see that?
- 22:54Speaker 1: And this is courtesy of Reddit. Somebody said that the
- 22:59Speaker 1: care your names, Olivia, Bin, and Meredith are all named
- 23:03Speaker 1: after Taylor Swift's actual cats. Oh my god, I'm like,
- 23:09Speaker 1: is this another like Taylor Swift? That's crazy? Tracy Andrene
- 23:14Speaker 1: wrote this and the Elena Valdez. I don't know where
- 23:17Speaker 1: the names came from, but I wonder if there's any
- 23:20Speaker 1: connection there. My final did you see that? Is there
- 23:22Speaker 1: was zero product placement in this movie, and I'm telling
- 23:26Speaker 1: you it was prime for the pickin'. I don't know
- 23:28Speaker 1: how this is not.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Parina presents Christmas at the Guy's Pretty Litter.
- 23:36Speaker 1: There's no litter, robot nothing. You're right, Drew?
- 23:40Speaker 2: What is that?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Are those those little stick little tubs?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Yeah? Has your FYP been infiltrated by? Well? Now?
- 23:48Speaker 1: What did you rate Christmas at the Catnip Cafe? I
- 23:50Speaker 1: thought it was very enjoyable, very cozy. I gave it
- 23:54Speaker 1: four stars.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I gave it three point seven to five stars.
- 23:57Speaker 1: I gave it more than you. I liked it too,
- 24:02Speaker 1: I did too.
