- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, Uh, I sure will. Good morning everybody listening
- 0:07Speaker 1: to the voice, come on, dig me now, one and
- 0:11Speaker 1: only Steve Harvey got a radio show. I was had
- 0:16Speaker 1: my head down and it was thinking of what I
- 0:19Speaker 1: wanted to say this morning. But it kind of, uh,
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's kind of be something I've lived for a long time,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and you know, for a long time, you know, I
- 0:32Speaker 1: had a lot of faith in people. You know. It's
- 0:35Speaker 1: it's strange too, because you know, you know, my mother
- 0:39Speaker 1: was a Sunday school teacher, so of course I grew
- 0:42Speaker 1: up around knowing, uh, scriptures and things like that. Not
- 0:46Speaker 1: not a lot of them, but you know, the ones
- 0:48Speaker 1: I retained. But having her as a mother was was
- 0:53Speaker 1: a huge help and understand about faith. But even with that,
- 0:56Speaker 1: as I grew up, I began to put a lot
- 1:00Speaker 1: of faith in people. And you know, I figured, uh,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know, just like everybody else, you know, man if
- 1:06Speaker 1: I could just meet this person, or if I could
- 1:09Speaker 1: just sit down with that person, or man if I
- 1:12Speaker 1: could just get this person to hear my ideal, or
- 1:15Speaker 1: man if just if this person could hear my track,
- 1:18Speaker 1: or man if I could just get this in the
- 1:20Speaker 1: hands of somebody in the know. I was like everybody else,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I thought that way. You know, I actually thought that
- 1:28Speaker 1: if I could get in a certain situation with a
- 1:30Speaker 1: certain person, that if a certain person were to meet me,
- 1:35Speaker 1: that you know, it could change everything for me. Oh man,
- 1:39Speaker 1: Oh how wrong I was? Oh how wrong I was?
- 1:44Speaker 1: How long did I spend feeling that way? And how
- 1:47Speaker 1: many of you out there possibly have felt that way before?
- 1:50Speaker 1: You know, like even in a relationship, This is the
- 1:53Speaker 1: person for me, And you know, you just lay claim
- 1:56Speaker 1: to that, you know, not necessarily being a fact, but
- 1:59Speaker 1: you just lay claim to it. This is the person
- 2:01Speaker 1: for me, This is the person that I want to
- 2:04Speaker 1: spend the rest of my life with. You know. Sometimes,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, we just lay claim and stuff and it's
- 2:08Speaker 1: not always what's in our best interest or it's not
- 2:10Speaker 1: always a fact. It's just what we decided we want it.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And I was guilty of that, just like anybody else.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And I spent a lot of years in my life
- 2:20Speaker 1: putting faith in people. Man, if I could tell you
- 2:23Speaker 1: anything this morning, it's to stop putting your faith in
- 2:27Speaker 1: people and put your faith in God where it counts
- 2:30Speaker 1: the most. I mean, you can get something out of
- 2:32Speaker 1: this one. See, here's a deal. About a relationship with God.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's the same all the time. He never changes. His
- 2:41Speaker 1: word is one hundred percent absolute. His word doesn't have
- 2:44Speaker 1: loopholes in it, none of that. It's this is what
- 2:47Speaker 1: it is. He's very clear. Now, you can deviate off
- 2:52Speaker 1: your end of a bargain, but it don't stop what
- 2:56Speaker 1: he says from being true. But if he asks you
- 2:59Speaker 1: to do something, If if God asked you to be
- 3:01Speaker 1: a certain way, to do a little something a certain way,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and you don't do it that way, then you know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you could still possibly get by for a while. But
- 3:11Speaker 1: don't you understand that his end of the deal stays
- 3:14Speaker 1: the same, And as long as you're not doing it
- 3:16Speaker 1: the way you're supposed to, the results are not going
- 3:19Speaker 1: to be what you wanted to be. And I did
- 3:21Speaker 1: this for years and years and years, and I counted
- 3:24Speaker 1: on people, and you know, I got myself in a
- 3:27Speaker 1: lot of situations. And I got out one a dire
- 3:31Speaker 1: situation that I'd been in for a number of years.
- 3:34Speaker 1: But he had protected me from years prior to that.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I didn't even know what was going on, and then
- 3:39Speaker 1: he made it, made me aware of the problem, and then, man,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Lord have mercy, I was in a dismal situation. And
- 3:46Speaker 1: then at the end of the year I was free,
- 3:49Speaker 1: free from it all. But it was a decision that
- 3:52Speaker 1: I had made that led up to that, and in
- 3:56Speaker 1: going through that process, I had to learn something. Manlearn
- 4:00Speaker 1: a lot about people. See if you want to learn
- 4:03Speaker 1: about your friends, if you want to learn about your
- 4:05Speaker 1: people people around you. Get yourself in some trouble. Get
- 4:10Speaker 1: yourself in a situation. Oh man, you start looking around,
- 4:14Speaker 1: man to feel get real clear when you're in trouble.
- 4:18Speaker 1: The feel clear is out when you're in doubt, when
- 4:21Speaker 1: you don't know what to do, when you need help
- 4:23Speaker 1: it get real clear on the play and field, then,
- 4:26Speaker 1: don't it. Ah. But when things is going right, it's
- 4:28Speaker 1: time for a party. We throwing a celebration. We gonna
- 4:32Speaker 1: We're gonna do one down here. Oh man, there's plenty
- 4:35Speaker 1: of people on the field. But but but get yourself
- 4:38Speaker 1: in a situation. You find out rather quickly that oh no,
- 4:42Speaker 1: oh no, everybody ain't here. And that's when I started learning.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And I'm telling you, I had to start learning this
- 4:49Speaker 1: for real until I finally got it to stop putting
- 4:52Speaker 1: my faith in people and put all the mind in God.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Where it counts the most. Now is that to say
- 4:59Speaker 1: that there are people that you can't trust. No, that's
- 5:01Speaker 1: not what I'm saying. I ain't say you can't trust him,
- 5:04Speaker 1: but you can't dump your faith in them. I got
- 5:07Speaker 1: it all riding on what he say. I got it
- 5:10Speaker 1: all riding on what she say. No, no, uh uh no,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I hear you saying it. But I'm gonna keep my
- 5:20Speaker 1: own this situation because I hear you saying it. But
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna take this faith of mine and instead of
- 5:26Speaker 1: putting it in people, I'm gonna put it in God
- 5:28Speaker 1: where it counts the most. Because his word is absolute.
- 5:32Speaker 1: What he say he's gonna do, he gonna do what
- 5:34Speaker 1: he says. He's not gonna tolerate. He's not gonna tolerate. Now,
- 5:37Speaker 1: you can make it, you can make it tolerable for yourself,
- 5:40Speaker 1: but he's not gonna tolerate it. And that's just the
- 5:42Speaker 1: end of the line. And so you know, I'm wondering
- 5:45Speaker 1: how many people out there find themselves in a situation
- 5:49Speaker 1: like me, Or maybe you've gotten yourself in a situation
- 5:51Speaker 1: because you put your faith in some people and now
- 5:54Speaker 1: you wound up in a different type of situation. Now,
- 5:56Speaker 1: let me ask you where the people at the only
- 6:01Speaker 1: one that I found when I was in my deepest trouble,
- 6:05Speaker 1: when me and my wife were in our darkest situation,
- 6:09Speaker 1: was God. He was the only one, was the only
- 6:12Speaker 1: one who was just right there, right there, all the
- 6:16Speaker 1: way through. Now, let me explain something to you. Because
- 6:22Speaker 1: you have this relationship with God, it does not mean,
- 6:26Speaker 1: it does not mean now that it won't get it
- 6:29Speaker 1: won't still be a situation, you understand. But what He
- 6:33Speaker 1: will do is protect you during that period. He'll cover
- 6:38Speaker 1: you during that period that it is a situation. He
- 6:42Speaker 1: will give you the strength to overcome the situation when
- 6:46Speaker 1: it turns into a situation. Then when he cracks it
- 6:49Speaker 1: open for you and the sun is bright and shining,
- 6:52Speaker 1: what he don't want you to do is when it
- 6:54Speaker 1: gets sunny again, to forget about him who was there
- 6:57Speaker 1: when it was dark for you. See, I used to
- 7:00Speaker 1: do that too, you know I was. Oh, man, I
- 7:03Speaker 1: did it. I'm telling you right now, I did it.
- 7:06Speaker 1: But I'm telling you, man, when I learned a very
- 7:09Speaker 1: serious lesson, and I watched some people I thought were
- 7:13Speaker 1: friends of mine just sort of casually remove themselves from
- 7:18Speaker 1: the situation. Then I said, okay. Me and Marjorie looked around.
- 7:23Speaker 1: We said, okay, it's just me, you and God. And
- 7:25Speaker 1: when we started conducting ourselves accordingly. So when it's sunny
- 7:30Speaker 1: for us, we remember God, we stay prayerful, we keep
- 7:34Speaker 1: talking to him. We thank him for the sunshine, we
- 7:38Speaker 1: thank him for the dark days that he allowed us
- 7:40Speaker 1: to do, who allowed us to survive it and turn
- 7:43Speaker 1: it into sunny days. And we talked to him constantly
- 7:46Speaker 1: to protect us of our future enemies. And that's what
- 7:49Speaker 1: the deal is. So if I was everybody, I would
- 7:51Speaker 1: stop putting your faith in people and put your trust
- 7:54Speaker 1: in God where it really does count the most, it
- 7:56Speaker 1: really really does. You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
