- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And on today's episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, I'm joined by a guest hypnotist and today's guest
- 0:48hypnotist all the way up from Scotland, we've got Nicola
- 0:51Crean. Welcome to the show.
- 0:54You so much, thank you for having me.
- 0:55Great to have you here. So I'm always fascinated to
- 0:59learn about the back story of people that end up being very
- 1:03influential in this world that we call therapy hypnotherapy.
- 1:07And sometimes it, it comes from a place of really being lost or
- 1:11struggling or going through something difficult and then
- 1:13helping others or sometimes it's just being inspired.
- 1:16So I'm curious to learn more about you because I, I know like
- 1:19me, you speak a lot of the conferences and, and that kind
- 1:21of stuff, but I'm curious where did it all start?
- 1:27The the hypnotherapy sides of things started I would see
- 1:32actually when I was pregnant with my daughter around about
- 1:352015. I had already been coaching and
- 1:40heavily involved and the personal development one out.
- 1:45I always felt really drawn to hypnotherapy.
- 1:47It was like there was something about it that just really
- 1:50intrigued me and I had a really traumatic pregnancy and birth
- 1:56and I actually got myself through that through
- 1:58hypnobirthing. And after that I coached in a
- 2:03couple of, I trained and a couple of different things.
- 2:05And again, have they said he pick him up and it just wasn't
- 2:09the right person to train with. So I just sort of practice until
- 2:162020. And then life was lifing, to say
- 2:23the least. I had just lost my grandmother,
- 2:26who was my best friend in the world.
- 2:28And a few months after that, well, still very much deep in
- 2:32grief, I found out that my dad, who was only 57, had been
- 2:38diagnosed with cancer. And it was looking like he
- 2:41wasn't going to pull through. So I had at that point when I
- 2:48had this information, I had just signed up to train with the
- 2:53incredible Fred, Jacqueline and I, I'm a woman that likes to see
- 2:59things through. I don't like to give up.
- 3:02And I was had this sort of inner turmoil of knowing that this
- 3:08training was going to be very powerful.
- 3:10I just, I don't need to have solid evidence.
- 3:14I just had this real strong gut feeling that this was going to
- 3:17be a game changer. But also I had to face reality.
- 3:20The reality of the situation was that I was at home on my own
- 3:26during COVID with two children, home schooling and dealing with
- 3:31grief and you know, everything else.
- 3:33So I thought, right, well, how can I resolve this?
- 3:37I know what I'll do. I'll reach out to Freddie.
- 3:39He will to understand, you know, I had never spoke to him in my
- 3:43life before and I just messaged him and said I have to admit
- 3:48defeat here. I don't think I can do this
- 3:50training. I remember printing off the the
- 3:52studying and it was like that and I thought, right, Oh my God,
- 3:55this is not going to happen. So he said to me, right, well,
- 3:59let's jump on a call have 5 minutes.
- 4:02And I remember Hayden and my son's, the room where he was
- 4:06practicing playing drums and sitting on his drum, still
- 4:10feeling really bad that I was having to pull out of this
- 4:12training. And Freddie said to me, if you
- 4:15got 5 minutes. And I said, yeah.
- 4:17And he said, right, close your eyes.
- 4:19And he put me under like that. And I'll never forget it, Adam.
- 4:24It was it was one of those real moments that changed everything.
- 4:31He told me that it's obviously was speaking to the subconscious
- 4:34part of my mind and told me that not only was I going to do it
- 4:39even under those circumstances, I was going to be effing amazing
- 4:43at it. And I was like it.
- 4:45Just the, the power of what he created in that moment not only
- 4:51resulted in me, I think I'm sure I was the first person of all of
- 4:55that cohort across the world to complete everything and submit
- 5:00my group evidence and come out graduating with flying colours
- 5:05against those circumstances, which in itself as amazing.
- 5:10It's like a medical right. But everything that unfolded
- 5:14after that, it was just, it's never stopped evolving and
- 5:19ascend them and having an amazing ripple effect because
- 5:24not only has it changed my life, it's changed so many other
- 5:29people's lives as a result of that.
- 5:31So that was that was the the real beginning of me having the
- 5:38superpower. I think superpower is such an an
- 5:41amazing phrase because that's how I look at hypnosis is your
- 5:46unlocking resources that are clearly there, but just because
- 5:49they're there doesn't mean that people are using them all the
- 5:51time. You know, there's lots of things
- 5:53we know how to do, we know how to ride a bike, but most people
- 5:56aren't riding a bicycle every day.
- 5:57But that ability still exists within us.
- 5:59And there are parts of us that are incredibly confident,
- 6:02incredibly resourceful, but sometimes those things get shut
- 6:05down. And it seems like in that 5
- 6:07minute chat with Freddie, he brought about some level of
- 6:11certainty, confidence, resources within you.
- 6:14So not not only were you able to go through the kind of the grief
- 6:18and, and the kind of uncertainty of your father, but also take on
- 6:23a difficult intellectual task. And I think that's, I, I love it
- 6:27when people experience it first hand and they know just how
- 6:29powerful it is. Because I think there are not
- 6:33many, but there's a few hypnotherapists that I think
- 6:36don't really believe in what they do.
- 6:38And they're kind of, they're saying the words, but they don't
- 6:40really believe where it comes from.
- 6:42But when you find those hypnotherapists that with every
- 6:45fiber of their being really believe what they do and they
- 6:47believe the power it is, then that itself, I think amplifies
- 6:52their ability to be a good therapist.
- 6:54And it's, it's wonderful that you experience that.
- 6:56And you're, I'm, I'm looking at this incredible logo behind you
- 7:00on my screen here. The the the Phoenix rising from
- 7:02the flames. Tell us about Phoenix Rising
- 7:05because I understand that's that's the the name of your,
- 7:08your brand, your company. Yeah, it's just, it's just, it's
- 7:12rebirthed, really. I graduated from all that
- 7:17learning and training and got my certificate two weeks before my
- 7:20father passed away. And that was me and the ashes
- 7:25very much. And the ashes still.
- 7:28And I even though, you know, that was such a lifeline because
- 7:33it was, it was solid evidence or something is a woman that I've
- 7:36never experienced that level of pain before.
- 7:39You know, I have had plenty of adversity over throughout my
- 7:42whole life, but not to that level all at the one time being
- 7:46in mind, you know, we had COVID and things like that as well.
- 7:48It was just, it was all too much.
- 7:50And having experienced that shift, that real profound shift
- 7:54and solid evidence that that was possible, that really let me up.
- 7:58But I was still very much and the ashes.
- 8:01So I I spend doing this work. And I'm sure you'll understand,
- 8:07you know, we're, we're human beings.
- 8:08At the end of the day, life happens to us.
- 8:10And even though we're heart lead and we really have a passion for
- 8:14helping people, we have to be at a certain level ourselves in
- 8:17order to give. You know, well, I, I believe
- 8:22that I won't, I won't give and I certainly wouldn't dream of
- 8:26charging money unless I felt like I was in a position to come
- 8:29from overflow. So I was not there.
- 8:33I was still very much in grief and I decided to take some time
- 8:36out. I think it was like a year, year
- 8:38and a half got back into modelling because you don't
- 8:40really have to think that much about modelling and decided 2023
- 8:47that I was in AI was a level where I could give again, I
- 8:51could really give from this place of healing, you know,
- 8:55walking my talk. And so I decided to dip my toe
- 9:00back into therapy and coaching again and not really thinking
- 9:04not not with any Great Expectations.
- 9:07I wasn't sure what was going to happen.
- 9:09I thought that maybe it would take me some time.
- 9:12And then it just everything just happened so quickly.
- 9:16I don't know, honestly, it feels like now I'm really just
- 9:20starting to process the, the madness that has been this last
- 9:23year because it really, really kicked off.
- 9:26But this time last year, I, as you know, I'm a speaker.
- 9:31So I felt called to getting back on the stages, really feeling
- 9:35called to get this message, wanting to wanting to let the
- 9:38whole world know, you know, if I can get through this, so can you
- 9:41and teach the techniques and the tools.
- 9:43And so I've reached out to a few people that I knew were creating
- 9:48some pretty cool stuff in the UK and internationally and said
- 9:52that I wanted to speak on their stages.
- 9:54And one of them was a man called Steve Hardison, who's known and
- 9:58the States as the ultimate coach.
- 10:01And I just said to him, like, I want to speak on your stage.
- 10:04And he introduced me to a book. And then we've done some
- 10:09incredible work together and nothing has been the same since.
- 10:14So I ended up being in Arizona with him last May and that
- 10:19completely changed everything. And, and, and it was in Phoenix.
- 10:22So when I was in Phoenix, I had such, it was, it was a spiritual
- 10:28awakening. It was, it was, it's very
- 10:30difficult to put in words. It was just this knowing, this
- 10:35profound knowing that all of everything that I went through
- 10:40was happening for me and it created this new level of
- 10:45resilience, understanding, almost like gratitude for all
- 10:53all the, all the tough stuff. And I knew with everything,
- 10:57every part of my being, that when I came back to the UK from
- 11:01Phoenix that nothing was going to be the same again.
- 11:04And I knew that something was being burst within me and I
- 11:08didn't know how. I don't know what it looked
- 11:10like. I just, I just wait with it.
- 11:12When I come back from Phoenix, I just had a day where I was
- 11:18exhausted. And I was like, right, You know
- 11:21what? What's happening here?
- 11:22What's this all about? My son, my oldest, who's just
- 11:24turned 18, told me that it wanted to travel all of the
- 11:27world. And I had created everything
- 11:29around being a mum first and foremost.
- 11:33And that was a bit of a wake up call.
- 11:34I was like, right, OK, well, you know, maybe I should take a step
- 11:39back from speaking and coaching and training to really just home
- 11:43in on this last bit of being his mum at home.
- 11:47And then I was like, no, you know, I don't do all of that to
- 11:51stop now. And this doesn't make me less
- 11:54than a mum to level up and go all in even further.
- 11:57It makes me more of a mum. He can be more inspired.
- 12:00And then literally minutes later I had the creation of Phoenix
- 12:08Rising coming through me and it was just, it just literally lit
- 12:11me up. I was like, right after doing
- 12:13events for over a decade here in Scotland, I just had this
- 12:18inspiration. It was like a light bulb, right?
- 12:20I'm going to we're going global with us.
- 12:22We're going global. We're going to let the world
- 12:24know this is what I'm doing. We're going to have speakers
- 12:27from all of the world. People are going to fly in from
- 12:29everywhere. We're going to let everyone know
- 12:32what's possible, regardless of where you've been.
- 12:35You know that phoenix rising from the ashes.
- 12:37It doesn't matter where you've been.
- 12:39You can absolutely rise up and and it just let me up and I put
- 12:44out the call and I was, I could believe the response that I got.
- 12:48You know, we had people I couldn't, I still haven't got
- 12:50through all the applications. There was hundreds of people
- 12:53from all over the world. We had people from LA India,
- 12:58Bali all over fly to Glasgow last October.
- 13:03And that was the first of that level that I created on my own.
- 13:11And then I was awarded a couple of weeks ago for that bravery
- 13:15because it it, it was brave like doing a now when I look back on
- 13:19it, I'm like, well, I actually, I actually done that.
- 13:22And it's weird because it's, we're just getting started.
- 13:25So yeah, there's a lot more involved, but that's the brief
- 13:28version. Yeah, amazing.
- 13:30And I think, you know, it is risky, you know, to, to do
- 13:34something outside of the comfort zone to, you know, and I would
- 13:37say courage and bravery is, is wonderful resources.
- 13:41If you make the evaluation that you don't know if it's going to
- 13:44go OK, but you're going to do it anyway.
- 13:45And one of my favourite beliefs is that, you know, whenever you
- 13:49do something like that, you either win or you learn.
- 13:51Like it either goes to plan or you get some amazing wisdom just
- 13:55by doing it. And I think there's a lot of
- 13:57people that in life are sitting on the sidelines with all these
- 14:01reasons why they can't do something or I don't know enough
- 14:03yet. You know, I'm not, I'm not there
- 14:05yet. They're, they're kind of
- 14:06passively watching, but then they don't win or learn.
- 14:09They're just staying where they are, which I think is a real, a
- 14:12real shame. I, I think the, the Phoenix
- 14:15metaphor, you know, it's such a powerful metaphor because
- 14:19sometimes in, in therapy practice, a lot of people use
- 14:21the, like the, the representation of the, you know,
- 14:25the Caterpillar, the cocoon and the butterfly is kind of like a
- 14:29symbol of transformation. But that's just one thing
- 14:32changing to something else with the, the ashes.
- 14:35There's this idea that something has been destroyed.
- 14:38It, it, it has nothing and it can still come back from that.
- 14:42So I would say like the Phoenix rising is even a more empowering
- 14:45metaphor than the the Caterpillar because it shows
- 14:49that there is some real value in difficult times, in adversity,
- 14:55in in the trauma sometimes. But getting through that, you
- 14:59become so much more empowered than you were before.
- 15:06When you're working with clients, does that metaphor, is
- 15:10that used with them, or is that just become a representation of
- 15:13your story? It's both, it's a bit of both.
- 15:16I think that the reason that I get the results that I get and
- 15:19the time that I get them is because I have lived that.
- 15:24Like I'm not just talking a good game.
- 15:26I've actually been there. And so that hits deeper, You
- 15:29know, there's a, there's a deeper level of compassion
- 15:31there. And you're right.
- 15:33I love what you, I love what you pointed out there because I have
- 15:37used the butterfly one before. But you know, when I, when I
- 15:41became an author and then that's, that's, that's new
- 15:44level. I get, you know, it does feel
- 15:46like the death of a lot of the death of limiting beliefs, the
- 15:50death of thinking that, that, you know, that is not possible.
- 15:55Are you? I spoke about the ceiling being
- 16:00the new floor and that was what it was for me.
- 16:05It was like I had, you know, as a result of trauma, being
- 16:10bullied and different things. I did have these beliefs that
- 16:15were not serving me that, you know, these limiting beliefs
- 16:19that were keeping me safe, keeping me in this comfort zone.
- 16:23And then even though I had achieved different things and
- 16:28could demonstrate to clients and potential clients what was
- 16:30possible, I still knew that I was still playing small for, for
- 16:34what I was capable of doing. And so Phoenix Rising represents
- 16:37to me that, you know, the, the, the greatest pain of my life,
- 16:42the, the most difficult periods of my whole life.
- 16:45If I could rise from those ashes, then what what a story,
- 16:51what, what a way to inspire other people to do the same.
- 16:54And so it's the death of limiting beliefs.
- 16:56It's the death of the old story is the death of that old version
- 17:01of yourself. And that we all have an
- 17:04opportunity to recreate ourselves in in every given
- 17:08moment. And actually, when you look back
- 17:11and at the pain and I love what you said there as well about the
- 17:15either whenever you learn, because I've got that, I've got
- 17:17that, you know, written down, I've got it my notes, I've got
- 17:20it all over because there was when I created Phoenix Rise and
- 17:24it did ruffle some feathers. And you know, there was very
- 17:26much I did feel resistance from some people, you know, like,
- 17:32what is she doing? She's never done this to that
- 17:35level before. And it wasn't always made my
- 17:37support Adam, which was unchanged.
- 17:39And and it doesn't stop me. And I found, I thought, you
- 17:43know, so many people keep themselves in this comfort zone
- 17:47through fear and fear of what other people are going to think,
- 17:49fear of failing, right? That's I mean, and I knew that.
- 17:55I knew there was a serious pressure on my shoulders and I
- 17:58knew that it could fail. In fact, right at the very
- 18:01start, and I've not spoken about this publicly before, right at
- 18:04the very start of when it dries and I had everyone in the room
- 18:08to the left hand side just ready to kick everything off.
- 18:11And on the right hand side, we still had guests coming into the
- 18:14building. And a man collapsed right in
- 18:17front of me. And I genuinely thought that he
- 18:20could have just died right there and then right in front of me.
- 18:24And I thought, what would I do in that moment?
- 18:28You know, it was almost like that was such a test for me, you
- 18:33know, because the old me before that Spanish rising would have
- 18:36probably burst into tears, cancelled everything straight
- 18:39into panic modes. And I just, I just remained calm
- 18:43and just went with it. He ended up being fine and, and,
- 18:46and it was like, it was like that another example of Phoenix
- 18:49rising from the ashes. We, we didn't stop, we didn't
- 18:52stop. We didn't give up.
- 18:53We kept going. And it was that.
- 18:55And I know that that happened for a reason.
- 18:57So yeah, it's, it's a great example.
- 19:02I think leading by example is such a powerful way to be, and
- 19:08that's what that represents for me and the people that I work
- 19:10with. Yeah.
- 19:11And and even though the the Phoenix rising kind of metaphor,
- 19:16it doesn't actually deal directly with death.
- 19:17But as you were describing it in that way, using death as a
- 19:20metaphor, I was getting connections with the the
- 19:25Egyptian God Osiris of, you know, in order to become someone
- 19:30new, you have to die in the previous form of you.
- 19:35And, you know, a lot of people look at, you know, this element
- 19:38of death. I mean, that's a heavy metaphor,
- 19:40but it's kind of like, well, I'm definitely not the person I was
- 19:4310 years ago. So that version of me doesn't
- 19:45exist. That version of me is dead.
- 19:47I'm someone different now. And it seems like you've been on
- 19:50a journey of death and rebirth and evolution.
- 19:55You know, the, the old version of you, you're not that version
- 19:57anymore. You're someone new.
- 19:59And each time there's a slightly new version of you.
- 20:01And again, I think that's a really.
- 20:03A powerful metaphor. We're both speaking at the Irish
- 20:06Hypnotherapy Conference in Dublin, literally a few weeks
- 20:09time. So if you listen to this and you
- 20:10and you like what Nicola is saying, definitely get some
- 20:12tickets. We're going to put the link in
- 20:13the show notes so you can check that out.
- 20:15But tell us what you're going to be talking about in Ireland and
- 20:19and why people should come along and see you so.
- 20:22Excited about this, you know, it feels like a, it feels like a
- 20:25bit of a 360 moment for me when I think back to how, you know,
- 20:33what happened to therapy has been such a powerful tool for me
- 20:36personally and then it's enabled me to help change so many lives
- 20:41since then. It's going to be wonderful to be
- 20:44on the stage, sharing the stage with Freddy and, and people like
- 20:48yourself and talking about it so passionately and, and being, you
- 20:52know, being an example of what's possible.
- 20:55And so for me, it's all about confidence.
- 20:58And I think you touched on it earlier on when you were talking
- 21:01about, you know, having that confidence in what you do.
- 21:06It hurts my heart when I see so many incredible therapists out
- 21:09there that are extremely gifted and, you know, the hearts in the
- 21:13right place. And they've got so much
- 21:15potential to help so many people.
- 21:17And they don't, they don't show up because they are they're
- 21:23stuck. And you know what we've spoke
- 21:25about fear of what people might think or just thinking that they
- 21:29have to be a certain level, they have to be perfect and all that.
- 21:32And I'm really passionate about. So I've worked with many people,
- 21:35many therapists want to speak on a stage, for example, and they
- 21:39just are crippled with fear. And then I've, I've managed to
- 21:42go in and work with a subconscious part of the mind to
- 21:45really instill that confidence to have them do one of the
- 21:48scariest things, speak on stage. So I want to really create a
- 21:53powerful shift in the room with everyone there, regardless of
- 21:58what they want to create moving forward and, and reason their
- 22:02confidence massively and just just just eradicating any fear,
- 22:07any blocks are holding them back.
- 22:09I've got some very powerful tools and techniques that I've
- 22:12used over the years that have just been incredibly powerful.
- 22:17So yeah, just confidence getting rid of blocks are holding people
- 22:21back. And yeah.
- 22:25And I think when it comes to speaking on stage, one of the
- 22:27key things is that fear of judgement, the fear of other
- 22:31people evaluating someone in a, in a harsh way.
- 22:34And I mean, I've done loads of conferences, but I felt a little
- 22:37bit of nervousness when I was in the, the UK hypnosis conference
- 22:41a few a few months ago. And it's like, where's this
- 22:43coming from? And I think it was because when
- 22:47I was learning hypnotherapy, I went to that conference and when
- 22:52I was in the audience watching these people, I put them on such
- 22:54a pedestal that in my head then when I was in that situation, I
- 22:59had this kind of, I have a feeling it was some kind of
- 23:01element of do I deserve to be here?
- 23:04You know, and I think I do. But at the same time, I think
- 23:08that was causing just kind of a little bit of kind of imposter
- 23:12syndrome or kind of who am I to, to be here and maybe fearing
- 23:16that the people that I hold in high regard of judging me.
- 23:20Is that a natural kind of feeling, or is is that just the
- 23:23human brain playing tricks on people?
- 23:26Well, it's like, it is absolutely normal, honestly,
- 23:28like even though I've been speaking on stages for many,
- 23:31many years and you know, lies to the nation on the radio and
- 23:34things like that. I remember because I had always
- 23:38spoke on my own stage. So that's different because it's
- 23:41my stage. But when it was like when I
- 23:43started levelling up, well before the pandemic and, and my
- 23:47speaking, I remember having, I'm being invited to this huge event
- 23:50in London and that that's what happened to me.
- 23:52I remember just before that I was like, Oh my God, you know,
- 23:55who am I? And all these business people
- 23:57from all over the world. And there's little me, you know,
- 24:00I had them and I paid the store, but you know, I definitely don't
- 24:03do that anymore. And what the people that I work
- 24:05with now, I, I encourage them not to, not to, it's natural
- 24:11when you look up to people, but we shouldn't put people on pay
- 24:13the stores. It's just, it's natural to do
- 24:16that. But what you find, what I find
- 24:19is, is that that's just stories that we tell ourselves in our
- 24:22head. That's all it is.
- 24:23And it's and and feelings are not facts.
- 24:26People are there to learn and you know, and and there will be
- 24:32people that do judge. But if this is so interesting, I
- 24:35found this by Phoenix Rising when I put out the call and I
- 24:38had so many people like incredible people wanting to
- 24:41speak. And when I decided on who I
- 24:43would have for my speakers, I decided to do some coaching and
- 24:48have the therapy with them on the lead up to the event.
- 24:50Because even though they were at the top of their game and they
- 24:53were like international keynote speakers and best selling
- 24:56authors and all the things that some, you know, somebody,
- 24:59somebody would put them on a pedestal.
- 25:02They were their limit beliefs and their impostor syndrome were
- 25:05going crazy like like probably maybe 2-3 months before Phoenix
- 25:10rising. So I'm planning this event and
- 25:13I'm, I'm getting all my, my main people like having meltdowns,
- 25:17like, you know, what's going on here, what's happening.
- 25:20So that was really interesting, you know, how the human brain
- 25:24works. And I just, it was happening
- 25:26with anybody that got them through that.
- 25:27I was just like, right, you know, this is, this is what's
- 25:30going to happen. And I would get them to
- 25:32visualize being on the stage and how they would feel.
- 25:34And it was such an interesting process to, to watch all of that
- 25:38unfolded is definitely part of it.
- 25:41But what I, what I tell myself and what I teach my clients as
- 25:47is that when you actually take yourself out of it because,
- 25:50because the brain tries to keep us safe, right?
- 25:53The ego does everything to try and keep us safe.
- 25:56When you actually come back into your heart space, right?
- 25:59Because we're all heart LED. That's why we do this work and
- 26:02you remember why you're doing it.
- 26:04You're doing it because people need to hear your story.
- 26:06You're doing it because you want to make a positive difference.
- 26:09And actually, it doesn't matter about what people think about
- 26:13you. It's about your message and the
- 26:14people that you're going to impact and how you're going to
- 26:16help them. That takes the pressure out of
- 26:19it. I think.
- 26:21So I'm surprised that you had that.
- 26:23I'm, I'm very surprised that you had that because you're somebody
- 26:25that I would, I would have had on a pedestal.
- 26:30You know, I think you've done incredibly well, but it's, I
- 26:32love your vulnerability and honesty because it's shows that
- 26:36it happens to the best of us. Yeah, I think, I think there's,
- 26:40you know, what isn't helpful is to have this kind of bravado and
- 26:43and project this kind of invincibility in every single
- 26:46case. Because you're right, we're all
- 26:48human. We all have different emotions
- 26:49and those kind of things, But what I like about it is that
- 26:52even though I felt the anxiety like nothing was going to deter
- 26:55me from doing it. And you know, I, I think that
- 26:59element of when you do things outside of the comfort zone, the
- 27:02comfort zone expands. And then the same thing that
- 27:04caused anxiety before doesn't you know, if you do it, you
- 27:08know, however many times, just like just by doing it, you know,
- 27:11it becomes sensitized to it. So from, from my perspective, I
- 27:16think that public speaking is one of those things that people
- 27:19find daunting. There's other things, big
- 27:21decisions, you know, relationship goals, all these
- 27:24things that people find fearful in many ways.
- 27:28In your working confidence, what do you find is the overall theme
- 27:33or the key, you know, broad strategy that can get someone
- 27:37from a place of fear or paralysis or anxiety into that
- 27:41confident state, you know, maybe as a as a tip or a trick.
- 27:49You know, there's I've got loads of answers to that and I will be
- 27:51talking about that's that's the value that I will be given on
- 27:55the stage in Ireland. But if there had to be one
- 27:59thing, I would say that rather than rather than thinking that
- 28:11you have to wait until I'll wait until I feel more constant, I'll
- 28:15wait until I lose. Like the way I'll wait until
- 28:18I've got the perfect relationship.
- 28:20I'll wait until the kids leave home rather than waiting, you
- 28:24know, for the perfect time. What actually happens is when
- 28:28you feel the fear and you do it anyway, that's when the gift
- 28:33comes that that's when you get the confidence and it's a skill
- 28:36that anyone can learn. People think that confidence.
- 28:39You know, people don't believe that I at one point had no
- 28:42confidence. People just don't believe that.
- 28:44But that is that's the fact that at one point I had no
- 28:47confidence. Confidence is a skill that you
- 28:49learn and you learn it by stepping out the comfort zone
- 28:53and the people when you know when, when people keep
- 28:56themselves stuck through worrying about what other people
- 28:59think. The people that are actually
- 29:01judging are the people that are not in the arena, the people
- 29:05that are sitting on the sidelines, actually people that
- 29:07make the most noise. And they're not, they're not,
- 29:09they're not people that you would want to to have have in
- 29:13your inner circle anyway. I don't, I don't think that.
- 29:16I think that if you, if you know who you are, this comes with
- 29:20confidence as well. You know who you are, you know
- 29:22your heart by rising up, by making a difference, create an
- 29:26impact. It's going to create judgement
- 29:28and noise from the outside. If you stay focused, surround
- 29:32yourself with eight people, feel the fear and do it anyway.
- 29:35That's when the gift of confidence comes.
- 29:38And then it just increases to different levels.
- 29:41So it's it's about not waiting to the right time, trusting the
- 29:46do it anyway. And, and it's easier said than
- 29:48done. That's why having the right
- 29:50people around you. And again, it's not the amount,
- 29:52it's quality over quantity. It doesn't have to be many
- 29:55people one or two that have you know that you trust that has
- 29:59done the work and there's nothing that you cannot be do or
- 30:04have. And I mean I could talk all the.
- 30:07Other and I think it's a really important distinction because a
- 30:09lot of people are waiting to feel in the right state.
- 30:14You know, they're waiting for the confidence before they do
- 30:16the thing, But actually, if you do the thing and then you get
- 30:19the confidence as the gift as the reward.
- 30:22Well, that, that makes a lot of sense because then you've got
- 30:23that growth. And, and I think you use the
- 30:25word phrase, the phrase bravery at your event.
- 30:28And it's kind of like, well, there must have been some level
- 30:31of anxiety there. Otherwise you don't need
- 30:32bravery. But you did the thing.
- 30:35And now if you were to do the, the the same event, now your
- 30:38confidence is going to be way higher because you've, you've
- 30:41got the experience now you've got the track record of doing
- 30:43it, even if you felt a little bit daunted that first time.
- 30:46And I think for people listening, that might be just
- 30:49waiting for more confidence. It's kind of like, you know,
- 30:52consider that the confidence is the prize you get from doing
- 30:55that difficult thing that feels daunting, might be a good way
- 30:58forward. I know you're going to do a bit
- 31:00of an experience for us. So we'll we'll do that.
- 31:04But just in case someone wants to kind of learn more about you,
- 31:07is there an ideal website for they can go to or what social
- 31:09medias you, you know, kind of prevalent on?
- 31:14Yeah, great question. Good timing as well.
- 31:15I'm just about to over the next few days launch Mastermind, just
- 31:22a workshop that anyone can come on and learn more about what
- 31:26I've been talking about with confidence on the 5th of May.
- 31:30The new website where everything Phoenix rises just feels like
- 31:34just a baby. It's just been born, even though
- 31:36I've been doing this for many years.
- 31:38So we're just creating the brand new website right now, which is
- 31:42it's going to be amazing. But to to get in touch right
- 31:45now, you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, just Nicola
- 31:48Cream or Nicola all lowercase Nicola Phoenix rising@gmail.com

- 31:58to Dublin at the start of April. It's going to be incredible,
- 32:03yeah. Yeah, Ireland is not far away
- 32:05and for those people interested, I'll, I'll put the link in the
- 32:07show notes. But it's Irish hypnotherapy
- 32:10conference dot IE and you can see myself, Nicola and loads of
- 32:14other fantastic guests there as well.
- 32:16So Nicola, you've got a bit of an experience, whether it's
- 32:19hypnosis or something else to, to share with us.
- 32:22So I'll put myself on mute and then it's over to you.
- 32:25OK, for. Anyone listening and wants to
- 32:31have a feeling of letting things go that are no longer serving
- 32:36you, Just take a moment now just to relax and allow yourself to
- 32:41be present in this moment. Just take a nice big deep breath
- 32:46in through your nose and then slow controlled release through
- 32:51your mouth. Just feel your shoulders
- 32:55dropping. Feel yourself relaxing and going
- 32:58deeper and deeper. Enjoying this beautiful feeling
- 33:02of blissful relaxation, focusing on the darkness behind your eyes
- 33:09and finding that even if you wanted to open your eyes right
- 33:13now, you couldn't. You're just so relaxed.
- 33:16That's right, allow yourself just to leave your body just
- 33:24now. Just leave your body as you go
- 33:27higher and higher. I want you to visualize yourself
- 33:30looking down, whether you're sitting on your chair or lying
- 33:33on your bed or your sofa. Just look down at your beautiful
- 33:36body and give thanks for everything that body has done
- 33:40for you up until this point. Feel your heart space expanding
- 33:45with pure unconditional love for you and your body.
- 33:50Feel yourself going higher and higher, going higher and higher.
- 33:55Right up, up out of your building, right up.
- 33:59So high now that you're just coming right above planet Earth.
- 34:02And as you look down, all you can see is the beautiful Blues
- 34:06of the ocean and the gorgeous greens of the forest.
- 34:09You're just going high in and higher.
- 34:15Well done. As you go higher and feeling
- 34:20lighter, feeling more relaxed, I want you just to picture
- 34:25someone. It could be one person in
- 34:28particular or a number of people that you love dearly, that you
- 34:32love unconditionally. Just look at their face, look at
- 34:36their smiles, look at that unconditional love in their
- 34:38eyes. Feel that love that they feel
- 34:40for you, feel that love that you feel for them, and just feel
- 34:44your heart expanding. Just breathe that into your
- 34:47heart space right now, just trusting you're exactly where
- 34:54you're supposed to be, just in this beautiful present moment,
- 34:57because that's all we really have is this present moment.
- 35:02Just feeling that beautiful energy.
- 35:06And in a moment, as you feel that heart speaks, expanding
- 35:10more and more, you're feeling so blissful, so relaxed right now.
- 35:18We're going to set an intention. We're going to have an
- 35:22experience in a few seconds time.
- 35:25We're going to instruct the subconscious part of the mind to
- 35:29let anything go that's no longer serving you right now.
- 35:32Anything that you've been holding in your subconscious
- 35:34mind to keep you safe, we're going to thank that part of your
- 35:38mind right now for keeping you safe until this point.
- 35:41Thank you for being there and no instructor.
- 35:45It's time to let go now. There's a good chance that that
- 35:49part that's been keeping you safe, it's actually now been
- 35:51keeping you stuck, preventing you from moving forward, and now
- 35:54is the perfect time to let that go.
- 35:58In a few seconds, we're really going to let that go and I'm
- 36:00making space for all this beautiful new energy to come in,
- 36:04creating this blank canvas as clear palette moving forward
- 36:09ready for all these wonderful new creations just to come in
- 36:13and create all this magic from this brand new space as phoenix
- 36:18rising from the ashes. Just feel that wonderful feeling
- 36:21of freedom start to come through your whole being right now.
- 36:25Get ready. Want you to see this ball of
- 36:28light right in front of you. You can feel the warmth warms
- 36:33just hitting off your face, but like the sun, you're going to go
- 36:36straight through this ball of energy and it's going to cleanse
- 36:41your whole system, your whole being, everything right down,
- 36:46right down to cellular, molecular level.
- 36:48Get ready when I make this noise.
- 36:52We're going to go through that together. 321 See yourself.
- 37:04Visualize yourself going straight through this ball of
- 37:08white energy. Just feel your whole system
- 37:11being cleansed now as we go through this together.
- 37:13Anything that's been holding you back, any old limiting beliefs,
- 37:17any old stories, any old fears, anything.
- 37:20Just let it all go now. Just feel it leaving your system
- 37:24right now. Feel that energy just leaving
- 37:27your system right now as you see yourself rising like that
- 37:31phoenix from the ashes, just rising up, claiming this new
- 37:35life, this life, this incredible life full of miracles and
- 37:39abundance and love and joy and presence and health.
- 37:44Everything that you were here to create, everything that you know
- 37:48that you deserve. It's your birthright to
- 37:50experience a life with no limits.
- 37:53We're ready to claim that life right now and feel that energy.
- 37:58I feel it right now. So in every single part of your
- 38:01being, like down to cellular molecular level, from this
- 38:07moment forwards, you're stepping in to this new version of
- 38:12yourself, the version of yourself that's always been
- 38:15there, that's rebirth, the death of everything that has no longer
- 38:19been serving you, and you feel a sense of freedom like never
- 38:23before. It's time to rise, time to step
- 38:28up. The world needs to see you.
- 38:30The world needs to hear what you have to say.
- 38:33You matter. You're so worthy, you're so
- 38:36loved and so deserving. Just breathe that into your
- 38:44heart space now. And when you're ready, just come
- 38:51back into the room, back into the night time.
- 38:54Clean that energy. What a lovely experience.
- 39:04I enjoyed that. Fantastic.
