- 0:00When a young family seeking a bright future moves into a new
- 0:04house, it seems as if their dreams have come true until a
- 0:08malevolent force makes itself known.
- 0:12Tormented visions and violent attacks leave them all
- 0:15questioning just what insidious force slithers behind the walls
- 0:21of their new home. Will they make it out alive?
- 0:24Or will the entity known as? Sally.
- 0:27Keep them as playmates forever. This is a case I have personal
- 0:32experience with and it certainly is very unnerving.
- 0:36I wouldn't recommend watching this video in the dark unless
- 0:39you like a challenge. Located in northeast Kansas is a
- 0:46town known as Atchison, situated on the Bluffs of the Missouri
- 0:50River and offering sweeping views of the River Valley
- 0:54beyond. Grand Victorian homes and
- 0:57cobblestone roads recall glorious days when wealthy
- 1:01lumber merchants and railroad magnates once occupied the town.
- 1:06But as one walks the streets today, they can't help but feel
- 1:10a tingle down their spine and a cold shutter in their soul.
- 1:14It seems to be a kind of hotspot that harbors otherworldly
- 1:18forces. The time is March of 1993.
- 1:23Newly married couple Tony and Deborah Pikman begin renting a
- 1:26house in Atchison. After weeks of unboxing their
- 1:30belongings, their new house is finally starting to feel like a
- 1:34home. In the words of Tony Pikman, we
- 1:38had finally moved into a new. Place.
- 1:40My wife was expecting and we were just very much looking
- 1:44forward to starting a family together.
- 1:46It was a good time for us and with Deborah Pikman later saying
- 1:51that we thought the home was perfect for us.
- 1:54It was spacious, it had several bedrooms, and we just knew that
- 1:58it was the perfect house. But what they failed to realize
- 2:03was that this house was far from perfect for anyone.
- 2:08After about a month of living there, strange things began to
- 2:11occur. First, the TV began to turn on
- 2:15and off by. Itself.
- 2:17And small objects like their keys began to move on their own.
- 2:22Thinking that perhaps they were misremembering where they had
- 2:24placed their keys and the TV turning on and off was possibly
- 2:29faulty wiring, they contacted their landlord about the matter.
- 2:33But after having an electrician come out, he would find nothing
- 2:37wrong with the wiring. Although old, it was functioning
- 2:41as intended. Although the Pikmons thought the
- 2:44happenings were strange, they simply overlooked them.
- 2:49Later that summer, Deborah would give birth to a baby boy who
- 2:52they would name Taylor, and when the young family comes back home
- 2:56from the hospital, Deborah's sister Karen flies in from
- 3:00Buffalo, NY to help her sister get some much needed rest as she
- 3:04begins to heal from giving birth and starts adjusting to taking
- 3:08care of a newborn. Although the help is greatly
- 3:11appreciated, it seems to pass quickly.
- 3:15Although the Pikmans are still adjusting to the late night
- 3:18cries of their newborn son, his Christ seemed to wake up more
- 3:22than just his parents. One afternoon, while Tony hangs
- 3:27pictures upstairs, he sees a shadow move out of the corner of
- 3:31his eye. He then hears the giggle.
- 3:34Of a little girl. Finding this odd, he glances
- 3:38around his general area, and it's here that he discovers
- 3:41something even stranger. There and his son's nursery on
- 3:45the floor is all of Taylor, stuffed animals neatly arranged
- 3:50in a circle. Thinking this was bizarre, they
- 3:54ultimately would laugh it off, thinking that perhaps someone
- 3:58they knew had to come into the home and played a prank on them,
- 4:02that perhaps they didn't notice it until now.
- 4:05They thought that maybe Tony's brother Alan, who was a known
- 4:08prankster, was to blame. Laughing it off, they went back
- 4:11to what they had been doing previously.
- 4:14It wasn't until a few minutes later that Deborah would walk
- 4:17back by the nursery and notice the exact same thing had
- 4:21occurred again. All of her son's stuffed toys
- 4:24were arranged in a circle and all facing outward yet again on
- 4:29the floor. Now, unsure of what was causing
- 4:33these strange happenings, they checked all their windows and
- 4:36doors. They were all locked.
- 4:40If it was Tony's brother, Alan, they don't know how he would
- 4:43have been getting in and out without any of them noticing.
- 4:47And within a matter of minutes the following morning, Tony had
- 4:51his brother come over to their house.
- 4:54It's important to note that Alan did live next door to the
- 4:57Pigments at this time. Once they'd all gotten settled
- 5:00on the couches in the living room, Tony began to ask.
- 5:04So, Alan, just how did you get in and out of our house last
- 5:08night without any of us noticing?
- 5:09It was in this moment that Tony began to worry.
- 5:14Although he and his brother had always played tricks on one
- 5:16another, his brother wasn't known to be a liar.
- 5:21Alan looked back at him, genuinely confused.
- 5:24He told Tony that he had no idea what he was talking about, that
- 5:28he wasn't even home last night. Finding an opportunity for a
- 5:32laugh, however, Allen then starts asking Tony if he thinks
- 5:36that he has a ghost. He then takes his brother's
- 5:39camera and starts snapping photos around the house while
- 5:42asking is there a presence here with us and if so, make the
- 5:48stuffed animals move again. Do something As Tony and Deborah
- 5:53follow Allen, the three are then left in utter shock as a stuffed
- 5:58bear sitting on a nearby small chair is suddenly thrown onto
- 6:02the floor by something they can't see.
- 6:06Taking what they had just seen as some kind of a warning, Tony,
- 6:10Deborah and Allen take baby Taylor and rush outside into the
- 6:15family's vehicle as the baby cries.
- 6:18As Tony buckles them into the car seat, Tony cries as well,
- 6:22but out of pain. He suddenly feels a sharp
- 6:25stinging sensation coming from his back.
- 6:28Thinking it was a bee sting or a spider bite, he finishes
- 6:32buckling the baby in and then. Closes the door.
- 6:36He figures he'll check it out later.
- 6:38Allen then heads back to his house next door and Debbie and
- 6:42Tony with their baby drive across town to Tony's parents
- 6:46house. After arriving, the stinging
- 6:49sensation on Tony's back has only grown more noticeable.
- 6:53Again thinking it was a bee sting or a spider bite, he
- 6:58finally has his wife take a look at it.
- 7:01Upon lifting up his shirt she starts to freak out.
- 7:05From Tony's lower back to up by his shoulder blades are what
- 7:09appear to be 3 very distinct and fresh claw marks.
- 7:14Her anxiety is soon felt by everyone in the house.
- 7:19After discussing what had been occurring amongst themselves,
- 7:22the Pikmans now think that what they could be experiencing may
- 7:27be evil. Coming to this conclusion leaves
- 7:30their heads spiraling, making them ponder a number of
- 7:34questions. Just what will they do?
- 7:37Will they go back to the house? Where could they go if they
- 7:41don't? And much more.
- 7:44Together, Debbie and Tony do their best to calm down and to
- 7:49face the decision that they have to make head on as a couple.
- 7:53In Tony's words, we were newly married.
- 7:56We had just started a family. We didn't have the money or the
- 8:00resources to be able to afford to move again.
- 8:03We were essentially bled out. We had a baby and we needed a
- 8:07place to stay. So we decided to go back that
- 8:11night. Although incredibly apprehensive
- 8:14about doing so, the Pikmins seemingly have no other choice.
- 8:19The following day, Tony meets up with his brother Alan yet again.
- 8:23Alan seems to have an idea on how to tackle the situation.
- 8:27Alan tells Debbie and Tony that his boss's sister is a psychic
- 8:31medium, and he thinks that they should invite her to try and
- 8:34figure out what could be residing within the house and if
- 8:38she's able to decipher that, finding this proposal weird
- 8:41because they've never delved into anything like this.
- 8:44Before. But feeling like it couldn't
- 8:46hurt to give it a try, they agreed to have Alan reach out
- 8:50and ask her to come to the house.
- 8:53Three days later, she would arrive.
- 8:55Her name was Barbara. Originally based out of
- 8:58California, she actively engaged in psychic work and lectured at
- 9:03various universities about parapsychology.
- 9:06Not having been given any information about the house or
- 9:09its history, she sat in the living room and explained to the
- 9:13Pikmans what it was that she did and then asked them.
- 9:17To tell her. Everything that had occurred up
- 9:19until that point so that she could fully grasp the whole
- 9:22picture. After they went through it all
- 9:24with Barbara, she then asked them to visit the nursery to
- 9:28begin. Tony would later say that I
- 9:31don't really believe in psychics, so I kind of blew her
- 9:34off at. 1st. I didn't know what to think.
- 9:38Barbara begins her process and quickly begins to lose her
- 9:41breath. She starts choking and coughing.
- 9:45She then flees the room, heading for the basement below.
- 9:49Tony later would say that she told us that whatever was here
- 9:52didn't want us here and that it doesn't like anyone in this room
- 9:57referring to the nursery. As the pigments follow Barbara
- 10:01down the stairs, she soon stops at the bottom of them, begins to
- 10:05sense another spirit, but this one doesn't seem ominous.
- 10:10She discovers that the spirit is that of a 7 year old little girl
- 10:14named Sally. She believes.
- 10:16Sally passed away. Within the home itself, she also
- 10:19would come to the conclusion that it was Sally who had
- 10:22attacked Tony, believing that baby Taylor.
- 10:25Was hers to. Protect.
- 10:27She had become territorial between Deborah and Barbara.
- 10:31They come to the consensus that Sally is a guardian of sorts,
- 10:36that it would be a good idea to set aside a space for her and to
- 10:39give her some toys of her own to appease her.
- 10:43Tony, however, thought that this wasn't a good idea at all.
- 10:47He still believed that whatever dwelled within their house was
- 10:50malevolent and evil, that it was a bad idea for them to interact
- 10:55with whatever this thing was in any way, shape or form.
- 10:59However, disregarding her husband, Deborah does exactly
- 11:04this. After the psychic departs
- 11:08several days later, Deborah would go shopping for toys for
- 11:11Sally, hoping that her offerings would appease the spirit and all
- 11:16would be well. She also picks up the developed
- 11:20film from the photos that Tony took during the psychic's visit.
- 11:24Excited to see if any of them contained an image of Sally, she
- 11:28quickly opens up the envelope to look at them.
- 11:32What she sees, however, disturbs her.
- 11:36Several of the photos are bizarrely distorted, and one
- 11:40even contains some kind of malignant looking black BLOB.
- 11:45Horrified, Deborah rushes back home with the photos and the
- 11:49toys in hand. Walking through the front door,
- 11:53she immediately shows Tony. Having been the one who took the
- 11:57photos, he doesn't know what to make of the anomalies.
- 12:02One photo in particular catches his attention in his own.
- 12:06Words the picture that really got me as we were walking down
- 12:10the stairs with Barbara. I turned around and took a
- 12:14picture and floating mid air is this thing.
- 12:18I couldn't explain it, it made me scared.
- 12:23Following looking at the photos, Deb once again references
- 12:26Barbara's convictions and continues to believe that Sally
- 12:30is a protector. She then continues with her plan
- 12:34and makes a dedicated space for Sally and adds the toys to it.
- 12:39Although Tony believes that the force haunting their home is
- 12:42evil, things do seem to go dormant for a short period of
- 12:46time following the offerings to Sally.
- 12:49However, this piece would not last.
- 12:53Several weeks later, Deb's sister Karen would return again
- 12:57for a follow up visit, and this time along with her husband.
- 13:01As the couples catch up on what's been happening in their
- 13:04lives, Deborah and Tony walk into the kitchen and grab
- 13:08themselves and their guests some more food and drinks.
- 13:12Their nice evening is soon interrupted by a piercing scream
- 13:17there before Karen and her husband, a stuffed animal, the
- 13:21same one that had fallen before, that was sitting in one of the
- 13:25chairs, had suddenly and spontaneously caught fire before
- 13:31their very eyes. As Tony and Deborah rushed back
- 13:34into the living room, they too were left flabbergasted at the
- 13:38sight. Tony then rushes in with a towel
- 13:41to extinguish the fire. In his own words, if it can do
- 13:46this, what's keeping it from setting one of us on fire or
- 13:50hurting us or harming the baby? Following the flames of the
- 13:55previous evening, Deborah tries to convince her husband that the
- 13:59fire was an isolated incident. And for the next two weeks,
- 14:04things at the house remain eerily calm.
- 14:08Tony, who works the overnight graveyard shift at a nearby
- 14:11grain elevator. Adjusts his day to his schedule.
- 14:15Upon returning home from work in the early morning hours, he
- 14:20tends to eat a meal when he gets home.
- 14:23One particular morning, following the calmness within
- 14:26the home, he grabs himself a glass of juice and something to
- 14:30eat. As he goes to place the pitcher
- 14:33of juice back in the refrigerator, he sees something
- 14:36move out of the corner of his eye.
- 14:39Turning his head, pitcher's still in hand, he sees the
- 14:43apparition of a young girl before him.
- 14:46Shocked, he drops the pitcher of juice.
- 14:49And it shatters on the floor almost as soon as the pitcher
- 14:53had broke. As it smashed into the floor
- 14:56below, the apparition vanished. Paying no mind to it, Tony
- 15:02quickly runs upstairs where he greets his wife in their
- 15:04bedroom, barely able to get a word out he's finally able to
- 15:09say to her. I just saw Sally.
- 15:12Intrigued, Deborah immediately asked just what she looked like
- 15:17and then proceeds to bombard him with many more questions.
- 15:21Rather than being scared, Deb is elated.
- 15:25She's more curious than ever before in her own words.
- 15:30I was terribly jealous Tony got to see this little girl or the
- 15:35apparition of her. She's curious just why, of all
- 15:38people, Sally would reveal herself to Tony.
- 15:42She wonders why she didn't reveal herself to her.
- 15:46For the next two months, things once again go dormant within the
- 15:49home, But this too wouldn't last.
- 15:53One night, as the moon hangs high above the Pikmin residence
- 15:57as the couple sleeps, Tony is suddenly and violently pulled
- 16:02forward and then up and out of his bed by his arms, absolutely
- 16:07petrified. Tony screams as he realizes just
- 16:11what has taken place. He then as further bewildered as
- 16:15he looks down at his wrists. There on both of them were five
- 16:20distinct finger markings, as if someone or something had grabbed
- 16:25him. But the outline themselves
- 16:27weren't just there. These outlines look like they
- 16:30were burns, as if the fingers themselves had been seared into
- 16:35his flesh. Blisters we're now starting to
- 16:38form where each invisible hand had been.
- 16:41As he tries to come to terms with his terrifying ordeal, Deb
- 16:45still refuses to believe that it has anything to do with Sally.
- 16:49She thinks that his lack of sleep from being a new father
- 16:53and working the overnight shift started to get to him.
- 16:56However, upon seeing the blisters, she's almost in a
- 17:00sense of denial, saying that surely the spirit of a 7 year
- 17:04old girl would not be able to pull a grown man out of a bed or
- 17:09leave such marks. But if she somehow did, what was
- 17:13the message that she was trying to convey?
- 17:16Given everything that had taken place?
- 17:18A resentment began to build within Tony towards his wife.
- 17:23Accompanying this, he began to hear whispers on almost a daily
- 17:26basis. This would typically occur when
- 17:29he would lay down during the day to try and sleep so he could get
- 17:33back up and work at the grain elevator.
- 17:37To him, the whispers did not sound like that of a child at
- 17:40all, but rather like 3 low voiced people speaking to one
- 17:45another. It would also seem so close as
- 17:49if they were talking simultaneously directly into his
- 17:52ears. During one particularly scary
- 17:55experience involving the whispering, Tony also begins to
- 17:59see items near the bed float and rotate by themselves as if
- 18:04suspended by an invisible force. As he screams, wanting all of it
- 18:10to stop, he is greeted by his wife after explaining what he
- 18:15had just experienced. Unfortunately, she doesn't
- 18:19believe him given what he had been saying, that he had been
- 18:23seeing shadowy figures, hearing whispers, having nightmares as
- 18:28she perceived them. She thought that lack of sleep
- 18:31and stress was causing him to make things up.
- 18:35Tony is starting to believe that whatever force that haunts the
- 18:38house is targeting him, that it's attempting to manipulate
- 18:42his feelings. Coming to terms with this, he
- 18:46also realizes just how hard it's becoming to hide his growing
- 18:50resentment towards Deborah. He keeps having feelings of a
- 18:54dark rage well up inside him, feelings that he's worried could
- 18:58turn violent. In his own words.
- 19:02These feelings were not like me. I love her so much and I would
- 19:07never do anything to hurt her. But the longer we were there,
- 19:11the stronger these feelings were becoming.
- 19:14Tony, of course, wasn't the only one to notice these changes.
- 19:18Deborah noticed them too. There had been a large shift in
- 19:22his demeanor and attitude. He seemed angry, short fused,
- 19:28and argumentative. The couple began to fight almost
- 19:31daily, which hadn't been like them at all in the past.
- 19:36The Pigmans decided they want to reach back out to Barbara for
- 19:39another consultation to see if they could potentially gain any
- 19:43new information on the presence that seemed to be everywhere and
- 19:47yet nowhere at the same time. In due time, Barbara again would
- 19:53visit them and upon her arrival would be told just how things
- 19:58had developed. She attempts to contact Sally
- 20:01once again after she believes she's made contact with her.
- 20:06She then begins to sense a second entity.
- 20:09This one however, is much older and seems to refuse to interact
- 20:14with her. She believes that this adult
- 20:16entity is a female. And the one that has been
- 20:19targeting Tony and that Sally has been taking the blame.
- 20:25However, she comes to the conviction that whatever is
- 20:28happening within the home is beyond her expertise.
- 20:33What she does offer though, is that she would contact a very
- 20:36qualified group of paranormal investigators.
- 20:40Tony's reaction at first is harsh.
- 20:42And. In his own words once again.
- 20:45At first I was like, no way, we live in a small town, we'd be
- 20:49the laughingstock. If it wasn't a spirit in the
- 20:52house, then the only other thing that I could think it could be
- 20:56was the devil, and that scared me to death.
- 21:01After discussing the matter further with his wife and
- 21:03Barbara, he finally agrees to give the Group A try.
- 21:08Within days, the paranormal group would arrive.
- 21:12The group is led by, at that time, world renowned medium and
- 21:16paranormal researcher Peter James.
- 21:19In his words, a ghost is the ethereal double of its physical
- 21:24counterpart. We become a ghost dependent on
- 21:27the circumstances in which we die.
- 21:30If we die untimely, tragically or violently, then we are
- 21:35rendered a ghost. I prefer not knowing any details
- 21:39about any specific haunting in which I investigate.
- 21:43It's my job to identify what's causing the activity, not being
- 21:48informed of the information previously, only that the family
- 21:51was young and had a young boy. As he sits in the living room
- 21:56and speaks with the Pikmans, he asked them if they had a young
- 21:59daughter as well, perhaps of seven or eight years old,
- 22:05telling him no. Peter remarked that it was
- 22:08strange because when he arrived, he saw such a young girl staring
- 22:12at them from one of the upstairs windows.
- 22:16Starting to explore the home, Peter begins to sense that there
- 22:20are two entities, one that is a child and the other an older
- 22:26adult woman who is very powerful.
- 22:30Upon asking the name of the entities out loud, he would
- 22:33reply with Sally. It's good to meet you.
- 22:39As he embarks up the stairs, he makes his way into the Pikmin's
- 22:42master bedroom and starts feeling the presence of the
- 22:46older female. As he steps further into the
- 22:49room with his crew and the Pikmin's behind him, Peter is
- 22:54suddenly thrown back against the door and almost simultaneously,
- 22:59Tony begins to scream in pain. My back, he says.
- 23:04Debbie lifts up his shirt and sees that once again his back is
- 23:08covered in fresh scratches, deep ones to the point to where they
- 23:13drew blood. Peter is astonished.
- 23:17He now knows that his older woman's presence is not a +1.
- 23:21Telling everyone not to let the entity know that they are afraid
- 23:25of it, they reluctantly press on.
- 23:29The crew spends the rest of the day investigating the home and
- 23:32during this time, Peter once again begins walking back
- 23:36upstairs as if something or someone was calling out to him
- 23:41and it's. Here that he begins to have a
- 23:44vision. In his vision he's taken back
- 23:47into the past and he begins to see the spirits as they were in
- 23:52life. He believed that the home was
- 23:54once the home and practice of a medical physician.
- 23:59His housekeeper and her daughter lived there with him as well.
- 24:03The housekeeper was also his mistress and the daughter was
- 24:08also his. The housekeeper was African
- 24:11American and their daughter half and in such racially divided
- 24:16times, the affair and their secret child were kept hidden.
- 24:22Sally was her name and she was their seven-year old daughter.
- 24:27Peter believed that Sally had contracted pneumonia and her
- 24:30father, although a doctor, was unable to save her.
- 24:35Although the secret family and Sally's death are tragic, Peter
- 24:40tells the Pikmans that it's not fair for them to be victimized
- 24:43by the dead in their own home. That in order to rid themselves
- 24:47of this torment, that they must cleanse the house.
- 24:51That they were in control, but it was ultimately up to them to
- 24:54restore order. And with these words of advice,
- 24:58he and his crew would depart. The Pikmans decide that they
- 25:03will stay in the house and will do their best to set the rules
- 25:08and stand their ground. Several weeks pass and despite
- 25:12their best efforts, the atmosphere has only grown
- 25:16heavier, the torment even worse. Especially for Tony, his sleep
- 25:22has become even more scarce and his thoughts grow more and more
- 25:27evil. He can't shake the angry
- 25:30feelings. It's becoming more worried that
- 25:33he may end up harming his wife and or himself, that he feels as
- 25:38if this darkness is slowly consuming.
- 25:42Him. He.
- 25:43Finally confronts Deborah and explains exactly how he feels
- 25:48that he believes that if they don't leave the house that
- 25:51something horrible may end up happening.
- 25:54Finally understanding the pressure her husband was under,
- 25:58she agrees with him and begins looking at ads for a new home
- 26:02for the family. In the meantime, Tony attempts
- 26:06to sleep due to work in the graveyard shift.
- 26:09As he lays in bed, tossing and turning, he's once again
- 26:14consumed by the ever growing and almost overwhelming thoughts of
- 26:19wanting to harm his family. Feeling as if he was under
- 26:23attack, he rushes out of the room and yells for Deborah.
- 26:28He tells her to grab Taylor, that they were leaving, that he
- 26:33had finally reached his breaking point.
- 26:36Fortunately for the Pickman family, they find a house
- 26:39shortly after leaving what would become known as the Sally House.
- 26:45The heaviness, the anger and the spiritual torment.
- 26:50Would cease. But given what the Pikmans had
- 26:53gone through, it's also important to note that the Sally
- 26:57House certainly has a dark and checkered history that existed
- 27:02long before their arrival. Originally built in 1867 by the
- 27:07Finney family, it served as a generational home.
- 27:11Several generations of the family lived there between 1867
- 27:16and 1939. During that time, 5 confirmed
- 27:21deaths occurred within the family.
- 27:24Michael Finney in 1872, Charles Catherine's father, the wife of
- 27:31Michael Finney, Kate Finney and Richard Finney in 1874, and
- 27:37finally Agnes Finney in 1939. There are multiple stories
- 27:43about. Sally that she passed away from
- 27:45pneumonia. The origin.
- 27:47I previously told him this story, but there is also another
- 27:51which I will tell you now. The story goes that Charles
- 27:55Finney, the son of Michael and Kate, became a doctor and made
- 28:00the house both his residence and his practice.
- 28:04The front served as an office space and an examination room
- 28:08while the family lived upstairs. One day a frantic mother arrived
- 28:13carrying her six year old daughter Sally, who had
- 28:17collapsed from severe abdominal pain.
- 28:20The doctor quickly diagnosed her an appendicitis and new surgery
- 28:25was urgent. Without delay, he prepped Sally
- 28:29for the operation using ether, the anesthesia that was
- 28:33available at that time. Tragically, Sally wasn't fully
- 28:38unconscious as the first incision was made.
- 28:42She screamed and thrashed in pain.
- 28:46Despite the doctor's efforts to restrain her and administer more
- 28:50anesthesia, Sally's condition worsened.
- 28:53She would go into shock and ultimately die on the operating
- 28:57table, her final moments filled with agony and fear.
- 29:04The home left the Finney family in 1939 and passed through
- 29:08various owners before becoming a rental property.
- 29:12At least one tenant may have been involved in satanic
- 29:15rituals, which some believe contributed to the sinister
- 29:19activity associated with the house.
- 29:22Paranormal Activity wasn't reported until Tony and Deborah
- 29:25Pikmin began renting the. House.
- 29:28Intrigued by the paranormal claims, the property owner, Les
- 29:32Smith, investigated and discovered a pentagram beneath
- 29:36the basement floorboards. Many believe that this may have
- 29:39been evidence of rituals that summoned something demonic.
- 29:43Subsequent investigations reveal blood evidence in the master
- 29:46bedroom closet and tattered clothing in the attic after the
- 29:51pigments. However, reports of electronic
- 29:54malfunctions, Evps, physical attacks, and other poltergeist
- 30:00activity have further cemented the house's reputation as a
- 30:04hotspot for paranormal occurrences.
- 30:08I've visited the Sally House myself.
- 30:10It was actually my very first paranormal investigation.
- 30:14Albeit amateur at best at that time, it certainly was an
- 30:18excellent experience getting into the field.
- 30:20Although for a. Variety of reasons.
- 30:22I don't think the Sally House is as haunted as it once was.
- 30:26However, we did experience a few strange things when I went with
- 30:31a few friends of mine. We arrived in the summer of 2022
- 30:35and it was easily close to 100°F outside, and the home, being
- 30:41very old, didn't have great AC as we would later learn.
- 30:45However, when we stepped inside for the first time, we were
- 30:49taken aback because it was absolutely frigid by comparison.
- 30:54This blast of cold air only lasted several seconds.
- 30:58The temperature did not fluctuate like it had then for
- 31:02the rest of the night. I also remember personally
- 31:05checking the thermostat and it was set at like 85 or something
- 31:10crazy so the actual air conditioning wasn't even on
- 31:13until we turned it on. So I found that weird to say the
- 31:17least. The record player and TV turned
- 31:20on by themselves multiple times throughout the night, which of
- 31:24course we found odd. The old record player didn't
- 31:27have any sort of a timer whatsoever, and given the age of
- 31:31the CRTV as well, it didn't appear to have a timer that we
- 31:35could find that would have caused this.
- 31:37Besides some strange feelings throughout the day and then into
- 31:40the night, we didn't get a ton of interaction through the
- 31:44kitchen. Although it was blocked off, we
- 31:47decided to look past it and go down the stairs and witness the
- 31:50pentagram, which for one reason or another had been burned out
- 31:53on the floor in the basement. And I do have to say that the
- 31:56basement itself was extremely creepy.
- 32:00You can feel some very bad vibes originating from there, so I
- 32:03wouldn't be surprised if some kind of black magic ritual or
- 32:07rituals were potentially done down there.
- 32:10I almost forgot, but as I was reviewing the original footage,
- 32:14I did find that we did capture an EVP and I'll go ahead and
- 32:18play that for you now. With black mold in the walls of
- 32:42this very old home, we decided not to stay overnight because
- 32:47you weren't supposed to sleep there anyways.
- 32:50Having taken plenty of video and photo evidence, we began to
- 32:54place things we had taken from Sally's room back.
- 32:57And when my friend, whose name is also Cody but with AC, placed
- 33:02one of those Magic 8 ball toys back on the bed, a touch
- 33:05activated toy decided to go off on its own.
- 33:08In this particular 1, you had to tap its head fairly hard to get
- 33:12it to go off. I remember all of us being
- 33:14freaked out by it. I remember it was extremely
- 33:18foggy that night, which added to the mystique, especially of my
- 33:22first paranormal adventure for sure.
- 33:25Or one that didn't occur of course, in in a home that I
- 33:28lived in. We took one last look at the
- 33:30Sally house before departing. Into our shock, all the lights
- 33:35decided to turn on within the home.
- 33:37From what we could see, both the upstairs and the main floor
- 33:40lights. The breaker was the original.
- 33:43So this too seems rather impossible to have just occurred
- 33:47on its own without some kind of ghostly intervention.
- 33:51Our code only worked for entering so we weren't able to
- 33:53get back into the home following this, but granted it was 2:00 AM
- 33:57at this point so we decided to drive home.
- 34:00We would hit a pothole and one of our tires kept going flat on
- 34:04our way home, which definitely was not fun all around.
- 34:09I would return, knowing what I know now and having much better
- 34:14equipment and resources and far more experienced friends by my
- 34:18side. I think we would catch a lot
- 34:21more. It's my belief that for one
- 34:23reason or another, that the Sally Houses may be dormant or
- 34:27not as haunted as it once was, and that it's still very
- 34:31possible that a demonic presence still slithers within its walls,
- 34:35masquerading itself as the soul. Of a little.
- 34:39Girl named Sally. I took the original documentary
- 34:43down due to some copyrighted image issues earlier this year
- 34:46as well as the origin story that I had originally made, but I
- 34:50think I did a far better job this time.
- 34:52Anyways, some of the photos and footage I've shown you while
- 34:56explaining my trip there I originally took and filmed
- 34:59myself. The Sally House was made famous
- 35:02in part by the old show Sightings who filmed a segment
- 35:06for an episode on it which was picked up by local and then
- 35:09later national media. As well as Deborah Pikman would
- 35:13go on to write a book which I found to be a great read called
- 35:17The Sally House Haunting, which you can find on Amazon and I'll
- 35:21link it below. With that being said, would you
- 35:24like to see me return to the Sally House for a proper
- 35:27investigation and what are your thoughts on the case?
- 35:31What do you think is still haunting this Topeka, KS house?

- 36:41Searching for the ideal place to settle, a young family moves
- 36:45into a new home, believing their prayers have been answered.
- 36:50However, just a year later, they find themselves gone, never to
- 36:56return. They're left questioning just
- 36:59who truly answered those prayers and what exactly invaded their
- 37:03lives. An enigmatic entity that
- 37:06perpetrated violence and terror upon them.
- 37:10The Untold story of the Black Monk of Pontifract.
- 37:36In September 1954, Bill Farrah and his wife Barbara moved into
- 37:43a new home in the historic market town of Pontefract,
- 37:47England. They were a young family with a
- 37:512 year old daughter named Jane. At 30 E Drive with its three
- 37:57bedrooms, this should have been their ideal home.
- 38:01Yet less than a year later they moved out.
- 38:05The fairs quickly had grown terrified of their new home.
- 38:09Their dream had seemingly become a nightmare.
- 38:13Objects moved on their own, voices echoed and empty rooms
- 38:18and halls, and large rips and tears appeared on their
- 38:23furniture out of nowhere, forming an ominous atmosphere
- 38:28that began to smother them. All these events would culminate
- 38:32one night when Bill and Barbara found their daughter crying, her
- 38:37small face inexplicably covered in scratches, small trickles of
- 38:42blood dripping from each slash with no rational cause.
- 38:49The family had no pets to blame for their daughter Jane's
- 38:52injuries, and even after they placed cotton mitts on her
- 38:56hands, the wounds continued to appear.
- 39:01The poor child cried every night, leaving her parents
- 39:05scared and confused about what to do and just what could be
- 39:10happening. One day, Barbara frantically
- 39:14rushed upstairs at the piercing sound of her child's cries.
- 39:18What she discovered would shake her to her core.
- 39:23She would find a pillow placed over Jane's face as if someone
- 39:28or something was attempting to extinguish her young life.
- 39:34At that moment, the answer became clear.
- 39:38The family had to leave, and leave immediately.
- 39:42So they did. They would leave the house and
- 39:46its dark forces, friends and neighbors of the Pharaohs.
- 39:50The Pritchard family would be convinced by the Pharaoh family
- 39:55to switch homes with them, ultimately leaving them at the
- 39:58mercy of whatever malevolent forces that dwelt within the
- 40:02walls. August of 1966, the Pritchards
- 40:07would move into the old Pharaoh residence.
- 40:10Their new home was quite a bit larger than their last and
- 40:14seemed to be the answer to their prayers.
- 40:17The Prichard family consisted of father Joe, mother Jean, and
- 40:22their small children, daughter Diane and son Philip.
- 40:27Shortly after moving in, however, the same strange
- 40:30occurrences began to manifest. Strange sounds such as banging
- 40:36and knocking began to be heard, reverberating throughout the
- 40:41house with no rational origin. Horde's smells began to waft
- 40:47throughout the house as well, again with no explanation as to
- 40:52what could be causing them. The children 1st and then the
- 40:56parents began to be terrified by a shadowy dark figure that began
- 41:02to make its presence known at various hours of the day and
- 41:07night, seemingly watching their every move.
- 41:12Gene Pritchard ended up giving the creepy figure several
- 41:15nicknames. She called it Fred and Mr.
- 41:19Nobody but history would come to know the entity by a very
- 41:23different and certainly a scarier name by most standards,
- 41:28the black Monk of Pontefract. The Pritchards, noticing that
- 41:34these happenings were far from normal, approached their former
- 41:38neighbors, the Pharaohs, and asked them if they had ever
- 41:42experienced anything weird when they had lived there.
- 41:46The Pharaohs would say no in August of 1980.
- 41:53The Prichard family had long been suffering from the
- 41:56haunting. Colin Wilson, a well known
- 42:00writer on subjects including the paranormal and mysticism,
- 42:05visited the family after being tipped off by a local historian,
- 42:09a man named Tom Kuniff. Kuniff had stumbled across
- 42:13newspaper clippings from the late 1960s alleging that a
- 42:18Pontifract family had experienced poltergeist
- 42:21phenomena. As he dug deeper into the
- 42:24history of the area, he discovered a rather disturbing
- 42:28story, one that he believed could be connected to the
- 42:32haunting itself. In the 16th century, a monk was
- 42:36executed for the brutal assault and murders of several young
- 42:41victims. Upon reading that the family was
- 42:44being stalked by a shadowy roped figure, he put two and two
- 42:49together during his research. Upon discovering that the family
- 42:54still lived in the same house, couldn't have contacted Wilson,
- 42:58prompting Wilson to journey to Yorkshire to interview them to
- 43:03see if perhaps they could get to the bottom of things.
- 43:06With the information provided by Wilson's records, a more
- 43:10detailed version of the haunting chronologically begins to
- 43:14emerge. According to Wilson's records,
- 43:18in August 1966, on that Thursday most of the family Joe
- 43:24Pritchard, his wife Jean and their 12 year old daughter Diane
- 43:29were on holiday in Devon, leaving their 15 year old son
- 43:33Philip and Jean's mother Sarah Scholes and her sister Marie at
- 43:39home. Philip had reached the age when
- 43:42family holidays had lost their appeal, so as most adolescents
- 43:46do, he spent much time to himself reading in the family
- 43:50garden. That Thursday, while outside,
- 43:54Philip returned indoors to get himself a drink.
- 43:58As he did this, he noticed something bizarre.
- 44:02His grandmother, sitting in the living room heavily focused on
- 44:06her knitting, was completely oblivious to a Gray hued cloud
- 44:10floating around her. Philip would later say that it
- 44:15was a chalk like powdery substance, and from this cloud
- 44:20it appeared to be falling from, not from the ceiling.
- 44:24The top half of the room was perfectly clear, and yet curious
- 44:28dust seemed to materialize from nowhere.
- 44:32Weirded out, Philip returned to the kitchen only to find several
- 44:36large pools of water covering the floor with no apparent
- 44:40origin. Then heading back to the living
- 44:43room, he saw the dust or a cloud had continued to fall like a
- 44:49miniature snowstorm, forming a fine white layer on the
- 44:53furniture and even on top of his grandmother.
- 44:58Rushing to another room to get his aunt's attention, he would
- 45:02bring her out into the living room or she would notice the
- 45:05very same thing. Unsure of just what it could be,
- 45:09she called to her mother to gain her attention and get her out of
- 45:13whatever the cloud or strange powder seemed to be.
- 45:17Heading towards the kitchen to get her cleaned up, she too
- 45:21would notice the puddles of water everywhere.
- 45:24As Marie tried to mop up in the kitchen, new puddles supposedly
- 45:29manifested. She would pull up the linoleum
- 45:32to reveal no leak underneath, and the water wasn't falling
- 45:36from above them either. So just like the dust in the
- 45:39other room, the puddles seemed to have come from nowhere.
- 45:44The odd drama intensified when, after the water supply to the
- 45:47house was turned off by a helpful neighbor, the water
- 45:51company was called to the property.
- 45:54Pipes were checked, the linoleum lifted once again and drains
- 45:59examined, but nothing was found to be broken or blocked.
- 46:04The water companies suggested that some strange condensation
- 46:08caused by the summer weather might be responsible, but after
- 46:13about an hour they left and the mysterious puddles stopped
- 46:18appearing. However, before the day ended,
- 46:22more odd happenings were reported.
- 46:25Sugar and tea leaves were emptied from their dispensers in
- 46:28the kitchen and sprinkled all across the countertops.
- 46:32Cupboards vibrated and shook, and loud bangs were heard from
- 46:36upstairs. A plant which was usually
- 46:39located at the foot of the staircase, was also mysteriously
- 46:43transported halfway up it's pot found separately on the landing
- 46:48above. Unable to tolerate the house any
- 46:51longer, Phillip and his grandmother left with and would
- 46:55spend the night with Aunt Marie Victoria Kelly.
- 46:59Marie's husband, unhappy with the strange situation,
- 47:04reportedly phoned the police to check on the House with Victoria
- 47:09present. Upon law enforcement's arrival,
- 47:12everything seemed normal, with no intruder being found.
- 47:17Nothing else seemed out of place either, until they found a glass
- 47:21shattered on the floor and one of Joe and Gene Pritchard's
- 47:26wedding photos. The photo itself slashed from
- 47:31side to side as if with a sharp knife, chilled to his core.
- 47:37Victoria simply followed the officers back outside of the
- 47:40home and then closed the front door of 30 E Drive and returned
- 47:48to his home. When Jean, Joe and Diane
- 47:52returned from their holiday, Sarah relayed the unsettling
- 47:56events to them. There was a disbelief at first,
- 48:00but as she spoke, everyone would hear three loud and distinct
- 48:05bangs reverberate throughout the home.
- 48:09Then a cold wind blew through the house, almost as if the
- 48:14entity had perhaps left. But that was far from what would
- 48:21happen. It was merely seemingly taking a
- 48:24break. According to testimonies
- 48:27recorded by Colin Wilson, the haunting truly resumed for the
- 48:32Pritchards in 1968 when Jean decided to redecorate Diane's
- 48:38bedroom. As I've noticed while studying
- 48:41numerous other hauntings, construction or redecoration are
- 48:46essentially changing. What once was seems to be a way
- 48:50to disturb or wake up whatever forces, good or bad, that could
- 48:55be dwelling within a space. Following this, mysterious
- 49:00temperature changes began to be experienced.
- 49:03Inexplicable bangs and knocks once again plagued the family
- 49:09and daily household items such as, in one instance a paintbrush
- 49:14began to be flung across the room by unseen hands.
- 49:19One just so happened to barely miss Jean's face by mere inches
- 49:24during the remodel itself. It's even been claimed that
- 49:28Missus Pritchard witnessed in the dim moonlight one night as
- 49:33she went to the bathroom, a long strip of wallpaper standing on
- 49:38end and swaying like a cobra. When she attempted to grab it,
- 49:45the strip simply fell to the floor, causing a feeling of fear
- 49:50to grip her that one would seldomly experience otherwise
- 49:56horrifically within the same room that was being remodeled.
- 50:00Not too long after this occurred, the family vacuum flew
- 50:05into the air, swinging around as if wielded by giant invisible
- 50:12hands. Screaming, Jean dropped onto all
- 50:16fours and rushed back to her daughter as wallpaper and
- 50:22various objects continued to be thrown towards her.
- 50:26The unseen presence in the house had returned and it seemed more
- 50:30aggressive than ever, particularly fixated on Diane's
- 50:34bedroom. What followed was described as
- 50:38nine months of chaos in which all manner of violent activity
- 50:43was reported. Bangs and thumps echoed from
- 50:47Diane's bedroom with such physical aggression that she
- 50:51occasionally took to sleeping in her parents room.
- 50:55Ornaments were thrown and levitated, and lights flickered
- 50:59on and off repeatedly. One day, the entire contents of
- 51:05the family's China cabinet were reportedly hurled onto the
- 51:09floor, with not a single precious item being smashed or
- 51:14chipped in the process. One evening, a particularly
- 51:18chilling incident marked an escalation in the severity of
- 51:23the activity and Diane's room. Yet again, the lights randomly
- 51:28went out and a huge shadow appeared on the wall before her.
- 51:34As she witnessed this first hand in the hallway, her mother
- 51:38scrambled with a flashlight to try and turn the lights back on.
- 51:42As the teenage girl watched, a heavy oak hall stand floated
- 51:47into the air and rushed towards her with incredible speed.
- 51:53In her attempt to escape, Diane tripped and fell her back up
- 51:58against the stairs, with the hall stand being thrown on top
- 52:03of her. The weight of the piece of
- 52:05furniture pressed down on her small body, pinning her against
- 52:09the steps as she struggled to breathe and free herself.
- 52:14Another heavy object, a sewing machine that had been on top of
- 52:19the stand, was also thrown onto her.
- 52:22When the lights finally illuminated the scene, her
- 52:26family rushed to help, but the hall stand was too heavy and
- 52:31firmly positioned to move. Gene and Jo struggled to free
- 52:36their daughter, and yet, strangely, despite the pressure,
- 52:41Diane was unharmed. The heavy furniture was merely
- 52:45being held in place by some invisible force, enough to keep
- 52:51her trapped, but not to injure her.
- 52:55When instructed to release her, the force seemingly obliged,
- 53:01finally allowing the hall stand and sewing machine to be
- 53:05removed. The poltergeist then seemed
- 53:08particularly fascinated with Diane Pritchard.
- 53:11In addition to the hall stand incident, it was reported that
- 53:15she was tossed from her bed as many as four times in a night by
- 53:20the unseen entity. Her bedroom often turned icy
- 53:24cold, and she told her parents it felt as if though someone was
- 53:28present with her, always watching her and lurking just
- 53:34beyond her sight. On one occasion, while standing
- 53:38in the living room, combing her hair in front of a mirror, a
- 53:42brass crucifix that she found comfort in with her faith was
- 53:47thrown from a shelf and struck her in the back, sticking to her
- 53:52skin like a magnet. When the crucifix finally fell
- 53:57away, her mother inspected her and discovered a cross shaped
- 54:02red mark on her skin between her shoulder blades.
- 54:06The mark left reportedly lasted for days, showing the strong
- 54:11force of which it had been thrown with.
- 54:15Before long. The house at 30 E Dr. gained
- 54:18quite the local reputation after being featured in 2 Yorkshire
- 54:23newspapers in September of 1968. People either actively avoided
- 54:29the house or sought to engage with the alleged haunting.
- 54:34Ghost hunters attempted to gain admission into the residence and
- 54:39it was even reported that a group of students who requested
- 54:43permission to camp in the garden were forced to settle for the
- 54:47large round grass verge in front of the house when Gene Pritchard
- 54:52declined their request. However, even from that
- 54:56distance, the group claimed to still have heard an assortment
- 54:59of bangs and crashes. Along with this new found fame,
- 55:05it became commonplace for the Pritchard's family's neighbors
- 55:08to experience disturbances within their own homes, as the
- 55:13noises were reportedly that loud emanating from the Pritchard
- 55:17residence. When all the family's
- 55:20possessions upstairs in the bedrooms were allegedly thrown
- 55:23out of windows and onto the ground below, it was impossible
- 55:28for anyone in the area to deny that something bizarre was
- 55:33happening, something that no one could truly comprehend or truly
- 55:38understand. Eventually, the family began
- 55:42calling their unwanted houseguest Mr. Nobody, later
- 55:46nicknaming it Fred. Despite its attempts to force
- 55:50them out, however, the Prichard family remained.
- 55:54When a local preacher, a man named Reverend Davy, advised the
- 55:58family that something evil lurked in their home and that
- 56:02they should move, Gene reportedly scoffed at him,
- 56:06asking him why should I be driven out of my home by a
- 56:11ghost? This was certainly a testament
- 56:14to the family's resolve. No doubt.
- 56:18As the disturbances worsened and the activity further
- 56:22intensified, the family yet continued to persevere.
- 56:28Perfectly good and often newly purchased food would spoil
- 56:32something strange that became a calling card for the entity, as
- 56:36if whatever it was brought death and decay along with it.
- 56:42Aside from spoiling food, Mr. Nobody, as they called it, but
- 56:47also often smear jam on door handles and would often throw
- 56:52toilet paper all over the house. Fine China plates and cups would
- 56:56be thrown onto the floor, sometimes shattered and other
- 57:01times perfectly fine. But yet, despite being watched
- 57:05by the dark, robed figure that had plagued them for years and
- 57:10all of its accompanying terror, the family still refused to be
- 57:15chased away, even after both Gene and Joe saw the tall,
- 57:20shadowy figure with a hood standing in their bedroom
- 57:24doorway. They had been in bed when they
- 57:27heard the door creak open, and both turned to see the
- 57:31terrifying apparition. Others reported seeing the tall
- 57:35figure in a long hooded garment as well.
- 57:38At night, frightened family members heard loud labored
- 57:42breathing outside of their doors became clear that Mister Nobody,
- 57:48or as he was increasingly known as the Monk, was gaining power.
- 57:55It was if the creature fed off of their fear.
- 57:59The activity would peak yet again one evening when all of
- 58:03the lights went out and Diane, along with her mother and
- 58:07brother, would experience something dark that none of them
- 58:12would ever forget. As the family huddled together
- 58:15in the dark, trying to find their way around the home, Diane
- 58:20suddenly, as if she had been grabbed by large invisible
- 58:24hands, was forcibly dragged up the stairs by her throat.
- 58:30Colin Wilson, who documented the events in his book, noted that
- 58:34Diane's cardigan was stretched out in front of her as if the
- 58:38monk was tugging on it with one hand while gripping her neck
- 58:43with the other. Roused by her screams and gasps
- 58:46for air, Philip and Jean rushed to pull Diane back down the
- 58:50stairs, but they were both repelled, thrown back by what
- 58:56felt like large, clawed hands. Fighting for her life and on the
- 59:01verge of blacking out as she struggled, Diane fortunately
- 59:07would ultimately be freed almost as quickly as she had been
- 59:11attacked. Philip later explained that it
- 59:14was as though his thought of trying to touch the presence had
- 59:18caused it to release his sister. When the family inspected the
- 59:23profusely shaking and traumatized girl, once the
- 59:26lights turned back on, they would see red hand marks around
- 59:30her neck. To say they were terrified was
- 59:33perhaps an understatement. Although they collectively
- 59:37didn't want to leave their home, they desperately wished for the
- 59:41entity to depart. The family would contact
- 59:45religious figures, they would pray and sprinkle holy water
- 59:49throughout the entire property. But despite their best efforts,
- 59:53nothing seemed to work. In fact, these actions seem to
- 59:58exacerbate the disturbances, almost as if they were angering
- 1:00:03the entity itself with their efforts.
- 1:00:07One of Joe's friends. Recently returned from Scotland
- 1:00:11recounted how people there hung garlic over doors and windows to
- 1:00:16keep out spirits. Fascinatingly, when the
- 1:00:19Pritchards followed suit, the activity diminished, eventually
- 1:00:25disappearing all together. Thus, what began for the
- 1:00:30Pritchards in August of 1966 ceased after two years by May of
- 1:00:371969. When Colin met with the family
- 1:00:41in 1980, he reported no ongoing activity, although it's not
- 1:00:46exactly clear when the home would eventually find its way
- 1:00:50into the hands of a man who's all too familiar with the
- 1:00:53paranormal, an investigator named Richard Estep.
- 1:00:58If these accounts are true, the events at 30 E Drive appear to
- 1:01:03be a classic case of poltergeist activity, similar to many other
- 1:01:08documented instances of spirit hauntings like the Enfield
- 1:01:12Poltergeist in 1977. The activity is often centered
- 1:01:17around adolescence, and there were adolescents present in this
- 1:01:22case as well. First a 15 year old Philip in
- 1:01:251966 and then an aged 15 Diane in 1968.
- 1:01:33Wilson oddly noted that nothing seemed to occur in the house
- 1:01:37while Diane was at school. Objects, even large and heavy
- 1:01:41items like solid oak furniture, were said to move on their own
- 1:01:45accord, Food too appearing irresistible to the entity.
- 1:01:51Food at 30 E Drive, besides rotting and being moved and
- 1:01:54displaced, would also mysteriously manifest bite
- 1:01:58marks. The appearance of puddles of
- 1:02:01water on the kitchen floor at the beginning of the Pontifrag
- 1:02:04case is also a hallmark of other poltergeist occurrences.
- 1:02:10The respected parapsychology researcher Guy Lyon Playfair
- 1:02:14suggested that the neat puddles found in the Prichard home and
- 1:02:18others allegedly haunted by poltergeists might be some form
- 1:02:22of condensation of the energy used by the entities.
- 1:02:27The activity disappearing is the children.
- 1:02:29Transition from adolescence to adulthood is also consistent
- 1:02:34with other poltergeist cases. Yet despite these claims, many
- 1:02:39argue that activity at 30 E Drive never truly ceased,
- 1:02:44asserting that it predates the Prichards and their teenage
- 1:02:48children by over a decade. At the beginning of this story,
- 1:02:53I referenced A testimony from the Farrah family and their two
- 1:02:56year old daughter Jane, who had lived at the property before the
- 1:03:00Prichard's. This particular testimony was
- 1:03:03presented in the 2019 book The Black Monk of Pontifract and
- 1:03:08alleges horrific events, including the baby girl covered
- 1:03:12in scratch Marks and told of the attempted suffocation of the
- 1:03:16same child at what is presumed to be the same black monk entity
- 1:03:20that haunted the Pritchards. However, it's peculiar that Jean
- 1:03:25and Joe didn't report similar experiences regarding their
- 1:03:28young children having taken over 30 E Drive from the Pharaohs in
- 1:03:33the mid 1950s. By the time of the alleged onset
- 1:03:37of activity in August of 1966, they'd been in the house for
- 1:03:41several years, Yet as far as we know, it didn't target them in
- 1:03:45the same way. But why would this be the case?
- 1:03:50Perhaps the poltergeist, or whatever it was, maybe a demonic
- 1:03:53entity, was in a state of paranormal hibernation for a
- 1:03:58decade or more and was woken up, so to speak, for one reason or
- 1:04:03another. Yet this inconsistency becomes
- 1:04:06all the more intriguing when one examines the 2019 book The Black
- 1:04:11Monk of Pontifract. Indeed, the authors of the text,
- 1:04:15paranormal researcher Richard Estep and the current owner of
- 1:04:1930 E Drive, film producer Bill Bungie, argue that Bill Farah
- 1:04:24and his family represent a previously unknown origin of the
- 1:04:28Pontefract case in their book. This new starting point is
- 1:04:33ultimately used to support their conclusion that the Black Monk
- 1:04:37of Pontefract is less likely to be a poltergeist and more likely
- 1:04:42to be a demonic entity, one that remains on the property to this
- 1:04:47day. It is indisputable that the
- 1:04:50Farrah family not only existed but also lived at the property
- 1:04:54before the Pritchard's, and there's ample record to prove
- 1:04:57this. In fact, the author's claims
- 1:05:00were allegedly presented from Mr. Farrah himself, but the
- 1:05:04family moved into 30 E Drive in September of 1954 and would
- 1:05:09leave within a year due to horrific activity.
- 1:05:13In the aforementioned book, the readers treated to tales of the
- 1:05:17dark monk, which are accompanied by many photographs of dark
- 1:05:21demonic entities captured within the walls of the home.
- 1:05:27Does this house still exist? It most certainly does Today.
- 1:05:32The former council house is just as famous as it is creepy.
- 1:05:37Those who visit the site have documented many scratches and
- 1:05:41suffocating sensations as well as capturing numerous
- 1:05:45photographs of the alleged black monk entity itself.
- 1:05:50These alleged pieces of evidence accompanied with the two
- 1:05:53families who lived there and the current owners experiences, we
- 1:05:59are left with more questions than answers.
- 1:06:03A few of my questions are these just who was this black monk?
- 1:06:09If they did exist, what drove them to such madness to abuse
- 1:06:13the young? Are they perhaps a man of God at
- 1:06:16one point and ultimately corrupted by darkness?
- 1:06:20The same darkness that would corrupt them in life and consume
- 1:06:24them in death? Perhaps this is what led to the
- 1:06:27violent manifestations that affected all of those who
- 1:06:31crossed the threshold of 30 E Drive.
- 1:06:35Was the entity A malevolent human spirit?
- 1:06:37A demonic entity or a textbook case of poltergeist activity.
- 1:06:45All questions we truly may never have the answers to.
- 1:06:49But one thing is certain. There was something that called
- 1:06:52the house at 30 E Drive in Pontefract Home.
- 1:06:56Something that was not of this world.
- 1:07:00A dark, robed and lurking presence that stalked those who
- 1:07:05dwelt there in the land of the living.
- 1:07:08Perhaps it still lurks there, stalking, watching and waiting
- 1:07:15for the right time to awake and wreak havoc upon those of us who
- 1:07:21still breathe and whose hearts still beat.
